- 1:36Speaker 5: I credited you, I said, right now, Fred's making fun
- 1:38Speaker 5: of me.
- 1:39Speaker 1: People on your program must wonder who is his friend
- 1:42Speaker 1: Fred that they mentioned every once in a while. Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Don't you like it that way? Though?
- 1:47Speaker 5: You get you get mentioned a lot for someone who's
- 1:49Speaker 5: never actually appeared on stage, right right.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Anyway, Uh, it's Deuce, it's Alex so she had a
- 1:55Speaker 1: good week. It's it's Evan, Paul, Fred Matt is back
- 2:01Speaker 1: back in the booth, Back in the booth. Yeah, so
- 2:06Speaker 1: everything's good. You're feeling better.
- 2:08Speaker 5: I'm hurting, but I'm in recovery.
- 2:09Speaker 1: You're hurting what any particular part of your body? I'm
- 2:13Speaker 1: sore just from all the vomiting. Oh really, Oh I
- 2:16Speaker 1: can see that. Wuld you lose the wretching.
- 2:18Speaker 5: Did you close your rings on?
- 2:20Speaker 4: Does throwing up count is closing your rings? I close
- 2:23Speaker 4: my rings every day.
- 2:24Speaker 5: So man, I'm really sorry to hear that. How is
- 2:26Speaker 5: how a lunch order coming?
- 2:30Speaker 1: He's just the.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Thought of your the pepperoni pizza that's about to get
- 2:34Speaker 4: back to work, back to work.
- 2:37Speaker 5: He won't eat anymore. So it's not it's not really
- 2:39Speaker 5: worth it.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I'm on a diet. I'm not not as uh not as.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Dedicated to your diet. No, I lost the word focused
- 2:48Speaker 4: on losing weight.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, not as aggressive as his diet whenever.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Anyway, you can need some wings in Buffalo with us, though.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, bing all right?
- 2:56Speaker 4: Absolutely, by the way, Evan Evan's team boneless wing.
- 2:59Speaker 5: By the way, one hundred percent, there's no such thing.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Here we go chicken ten.
- 3:05Speaker 5: You had to. You just had to.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 3:08Speaker 4: You just had These guys are like, well, the bone
- 3:10Speaker 4: makes it so.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Much, the bone makes it a wing. Otherwise it's just chicken.
- 3:15Speaker 4: That's fine, it's just a tender, all right.
- 3:16Speaker 5: We can just agree to disagree.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Okay, all right.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Now, if you're out you want to, you may be
- 3:23Speaker 5: gonna go out and get something to eat. Maybe you're
- 3:25Speaker 5: gonna stay out, go out, you know, you know, like
- 3:27Speaker 5: you Evan, you know, to the clubs. You know, maybe
- 3:29Speaker 5: you want that, you want the boneless because you don't
- 3:31Speaker 5: want to mess.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Right, But you guys don't find it off putting when
- 3:33Speaker 4: you get a chunk of cartilage in that bite, or
- 3:35Speaker 4: you know, you get some some tendon or.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Whatever in a real way, Well that's you.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Know, that's the chicken, right, Well, so is the chicken.
- 3:43Speaker 1: It's not processed.
- 3:45Speaker 6: I feel like we've done this like at least one
- 3:47Speaker 6: other time. And I went upstairs after the show and
- 3:50Speaker 6: just like six people came up to me and we're like,
- 3:53Speaker 6: that was such a bad take you had about wings.
- 3:55Speaker 6: Like you're so wrong about this, you know. Chris Cassidy
- 3:58Speaker 6: is like, yeah, all be my face about it. I'm
- 4:01Speaker 6: just look, I like boneless wings. I don't like the mess.
- 4:04Speaker 6: I like what I like.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Say that.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'm not saying you can't like it. That's not the issue.
- 4:10Speaker 1: They're not wings, though, yes they are. They're buffalo tenders
- 4:14Speaker 1: or nuggets.
- 4:15Speaker 6: No, nuggets are definitely different. Nuggets are our little round things.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So these are the flats.
- 4:20Speaker 4: These are those flats are the wings?
- 4:23Speaker 6: Tenders are not tossed in the sauce.
- 4:26Speaker 1: They can be, they can be.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Why not, No, you don't have to tender.
- 4:30Speaker 6: That's a that's a boneless wing. You can just have
- 4:32Speaker 6: Like a tender is.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Like buffalo tenders when you order hot tenders buffalo by
- 4:39Speaker 1: tossing it in the sauce.
- 4:42Speaker 5: When you order.
- 4:43Speaker 6: When you order tenders right at a restaurant, they bring
- 4:47Speaker 6: you plain chicken tenders.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Unless you say buffalo tenders.
- 4:51Speaker 6: No, if you say buffalo tenders, you're eating a boneless wing.
- 4:57Speaker 5: This guy we like to order around here. I think
- 5:00Speaker 5: it's called people something like that get boneless buffalo tenders
- 5:04Speaker 5: all the time. Well, that's that's wrong. I'm glad you're not.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I'm glad you're not part of the collaborative draft process.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Wings are too large.
- 5:14Speaker 5: You're right.
- 5:14Speaker 6: I wouldn't take cold strange in the first round.
- 5:17Speaker 4: He's boneless. I don't know what that means.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Jo, was that, Alex? What did you say?
- 5:23Speaker 3: I said that, Like, it can't be a wing because
- 5:25Speaker 3: the piece of chicken is way too big to ever
- 5:27Speaker 3: come from the wing. It's a tenderlin.
- 5:29Speaker 4: You don't know where it's.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He's just he's just being he's being difficult. What else anyway?
- 5:37Speaker 1: All right, Patriots, what do we got? We got Remandre
- 5:42Speaker 1: Stephen officially be being put on i R to make
- 5:45Speaker 1: room for about his son.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, they had to get a cornerback in.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Well, you said form Andre Stephen. You know, so what
- 5:52Speaker 5: about I.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Saw Steven was probably talking about.
- 5:57Speaker 5: I don't think you did.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Maybe Chris cast that.
- 6:00Speaker 6: He just texted me, by the way, telling me that
- 6:02Speaker 6: my wing takes are terrible.
- 6:03Speaker 1: He's right, and look at him no food. Oh, come on,
- 6:08Speaker 1: it's a big guy. I mean big.
- 6:11Speaker 5: That's twice in like a week.
- 6:12Speaker 1: He's a large human being. You're a bully. Yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 4: So they signed uh Marco Wilson uh claim claim for him.
- 6:21Speaker 4: So there, everybody knows their their cornback depth has been
- 6:24Speaker 4: a little bit spotty and uh you know, so they
- 6:26Speaker 4: got some depth and I think three other teams put
- 6:28Speaker 4: claims to other teams, but they got him.
- 6:30Speaker 5: He played a little bit in Arizona.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Yeah, so thrown him into the mix with you know,
- 6:35Speaker 4: Breon Borders. What you got no trash?
- 6:37Speaker 1: So are we worried about the health of Jonathan Jones
- 6:40Speaker 1: going into this game because he was banged up as.
- 6:44Speaker 6: Yeah, he was he didn't play the full he's not
- 6:47Speaker 6: even on the report.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
- 6:50Speaker 6: I would be more worried about Jalen Mills. Yeah he
- 6:53Speaker 6: is who's in concussions.
- 6:55Speaker 4: But was, but was in the locker room was a
- 6:57Speaker 4: practice kind of just watching, not not ess or anything,
- 6:59Speaker 4: which I mean, maybe it's a sign that perhaps he
- 7:01Speaker 4: could clear and go. But I think the big takeaway
- 7:04Speaker 4: we talked about yesterday in the locker room is very
- 7:06Speaker 4: upbeat and yeah, you know a lot of guys were
- 7:09Speaker 4: We're feeling it. A lot of you know, members of
- 7:11Speaker 4: the media. Nice job to Chad Ryland, which I never
- 7:15Speaker 4: quite can like put.
- 7:16Speaker 5: That, like people in the media were going up to
- 7:18Speaker 5: Chad Ryland telling him a nice job.
- 7:20Speaker 6: When you say people, well we'll talk off air. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 6: people in the media is a loose term.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you're not supposed to be in the locker room
- 7:27Speaker 1: unless you're part of the media.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Oh yeah, but you're really not supposed to be like
- 7:31Speaker 5: so proud of you. Man. I made that rooting or
- 7:34Speaker 5: rooting like you're supposed to sort of be.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I know this is going to bring us down a tangent,
- 7:40Speaker 1: but I was thinking about that same thing, Paul when
- 7:42Speaker 1: we were coming into the industry, you and I at
- 7:46Speaker 1: our age, at our young age. The guys who were
- 7:49Speaker 1: already on the beat, they weren't fans. They maybe they
- 7:53Speaker 1: got into this business because they like sports and they
- 7:56Speaker 1: wanted to write about sports. But they didn't get into
- 7:58Speaker 1: this business because they were Patriots fans.
- 8:00Speaker 5: And a lot of those guys really wanted the team
- 8:02Speaker 5: to win.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Well it's better for their job.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Yeah, well but but they friend's right, they didn't like
- 8:07Speaker 5: just openly.
- 8:08Speaker 1: But I feel like a lot of people nowadays and Evan,
- 8:12Speaker 1: no disrespect intended or or duce. But you got into
- 8:17Speaker 1: it because you love the Patriots.
- 8:19Speaker 5: You know, this is what we've done for everybody.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And you know that used to not be the motivation.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You got into this business because you wanted to be
- 8:28Speaker 1: a journalist and you wanted to and you like sports,
- 8:30Speaker 1: so I want to be a sports journalist. But that
- 8:33Speaker 1: seems to have changed.
- 8:35Speaker 3: That was like the number one of the first sports
- 8:37Speaker 3: journalism class I took. The first thing. My professor said,
- 8:40Speaker 3: no cheering in the press box.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Well yeah, well yeah, I mean I don't cheer in
- 8:43Speaker 6: the press.
- 8:44Speaker 5: But like figuratively speaking, don't don't cheer in the press boxes.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Don't cheer in the locker room either.
- 8:50Speaker 3: The thing to be taken literally. It was just like
- 8:52Speaker 3: my professor's way of saying, like, don't be a fanboy.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Exactly I would.
- 8:57Speaker 6: I knew that I wanted to be in the history,
- 9:00Speaker 6: like from a really young age, Like I used to
- 9:03Speaker 6: watch like Around the Horn and PTI and listen to
- 9:06Speaker 6: the radio and like I remember asking my dad like
- 9:08Speaker 6: what what what is Tony Kornheiser, Like what what does
- 9:12Speaker 6: he do? And my dad was like, he's a columnist,
- 9:14Speaker 6: Like he writes for the Washington Post. And I was like, well,
- 9:17Speaker 6: that's what I want to do with my life. I
- 9:19Speaker 6: don't want to do that. And but I cover the Patriots,
- 9:24Speaker 6: and I don't think that I could cover another team
- 9:26Speaker 6: as passionately as I covered the Patriots, Because.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I think you could. I grew up here. I really do.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I think you might. I think you might need to
- 9:34Speaker 1: cover another team better.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you're you're like passion for breaking down film.
- 9:39Speaker 5: I don't think that it matters like who the individuals are.
- 9:41Speaker 5: I think you're selling yourself short. Well. I appreciate that. Yeah,
- 9:44Speaker 5: I'm serious. I think you could do that for any
- 9:46Speaker 5: and yeah, that's true. I guess you just.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Might not have that much background knowledge of that.
- 9:51Speaker 6: I just I feel like that, you know, right, I
- 9:54Speaker 6: just like I wanted to cover the Patriots because I
- 9:57Speaker 6: grew up twenty minutes from here, But I I definitely
- 10:02Speaker 6: wanted to be in media first, like that was my
- 10:04Speaker 6: bigger I'm.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Not sure that's the case with a lot of people.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I think a lot of people have similar stories,
- 10:11Speaker 5: but yeah, it is. I think it's it's odd and
- 10:14Speaker 5: it's different because when we grew up for it, we
- 10:16Speaker 5: didn't have all of these titles when we were when
- 10:19Speaker 5: we were kids, and and this generation they have all
- 10:23Speaker 5: these titles to fall back. You did because whenever team won,
- 10:26Speaker 5: you were what do you mean?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Yeah, like.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Creator. You know when when Evan was deciding that he
- 10:37Speaker 5: wanted to be like Tony Kornheiser, that the teams around
- 10:39Speaker 5: here were all pretty successful and winning championships, when I
- 10:44Speaker 5: cause I had a very similar kind of story. I
- 10:46Speaker 5: wanted to Like I always told people, I wanted to
- 10:49Speaker 5: have my little picture in the Globe and as a columnist,
- 10:53Speaker 5: and that was what I always wanted to do. But
- 10:55Speaker 5: the teams weren't winning championships all the time. So it
- 10:58Speaker 5: wasn't because they in all the time there were my teams.
- 11:01Speaker 5: I don't know if I could cover other teams as
- 11:04Speaker 5: passionately as I cover.
- 11:05Speaker 6: I would definitely say, like there's no doubt about it
- 11:08Speaker 6: that if Tom Brady did not exist, I don't know
- 11:11Speaker 6: if I would be covering football like that, like he
- 11:14Speaker 6: may made me fall in love.
- 11:17Speaker 1: For me, Like it wasn't journalism. I wanted to go
- 11:20Speaker 1: into publishing. I like putting things together, like products, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 1: whether it's a newspaper, magazines. That's what I wanted to do.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Was football your biggest pasion though growing up?
- 11:30Speaker 1: No? No, No, Tennis?
- 11:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you know I love the origin stories.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Evans previewl You know, no, I definitely wouldn't have the
- 11:41Speaker 4: same you know, ability to just talk about like the
- 11:44Speaker 4: eight season or you know, like all the history of
- 11:45Speaker 4: the team that you know, those those games are so memorabile.
- 11:48Speaker 1: You're perfectly suited to work for a team.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, but you know, like, look, I mean,
- 11:53Speaker 4: I like my biggest thing, I never want to be
- 11:55Speaker 4: unprofessional in the locker room, and you know, it's it
- 11:57Speaker 4: would be easy as a member of the team media
- 11:59Speaker 4: to just be like buddy, buddy with that, But I don't,
- 12:01Speaker 4: I don't cross those lines. Like it's just you know,
- 12:04Speaker 4: I just I think it's more respect for what the
- 12:06Speaker 4: real journalists do in respecting the profession, and you know, like.
- 12:10Speaker 6: This jealous of people like that, Like I I feel like,
- 12:13Speaker 6: you know, you know, you know, Tony Cornhis is the
- 12:16Speaker 6: example that came to my mind, But like the other
- 12:17Speaker 6: one is Jackie Mack, who I just think is just
- 12:20Speaker 6: unreal and I liked, I wish I could write like that,
- 12:23Speaker 6: you know what I mean, Like she and those types
- 12:26Speaker 6: of people that you guys are talking about that were
- 12:28Speaker 6: on the beat, like before you know, the.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Everything happened, Like those people I feel.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Like were such great storytellers and I don't feel like
- 12:36Speaker 6: we have enough of that now, like where people are
- 12:38Speaker 6: truly telling.
- 12:39Speaker 1: And back then there was also a very clear division
- 12:42Speaker 1: between the beat writers and the columnists. Yeah, and rarely
- 12:47Speaker 1: did the two cross. Yeah, you know, like you were
- 12:50Speaker 1: you know, once you became a columnist, it was your
- 12:52Speaker 1: opinion right based on facts hopefully, but a beat writer
- 12:57Speaker 1: just the facts, man, right, you know, So it was different,
- 13:01Speaker 1: but now there's it's blurred.
- 13:03Speaker 5: That's a great point. And I also think that you said,
- 13:06Speaker 5: we don't have as many storytellers, and I think that
- 13:08Speaker 5: part of the reason for that is the relationships aren't
- 13:11Speaker 5: the same, you know, between the athletes and the people
- 13:15Speaker 5: who cover them for a lot of different reasons. But
- 13:17Speaker 5: I also think in this particular case, like there's not
- 13:22Speaker 5: there's like more of an emphasis on just being around
- 13:27Speaker 5: the team and like diving into it as opposed to reporting.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Well, there's no need anymore, right, So, really, as much.
- 13:35Speaker 5: You don't need to be here, you don't need you know,
- 13:39Speaker 5: you can just get on a blog and write and
- 13:43Speaker 5: you don't necessarily need the actor, so you don't know
- 13:45Speaker 5: the people that you're writing about, Whereas like Jackie McMullen
- 13:49Speaker 5: and you know, Bob Bryan. There's a million examples, but
- 13:52Speaker 5: they are great storytellers because they had great relationships with
- 13:56Speaker 5: the people they covered for your years and years. The
- 13:58Speaker 5: one of the most amazing things that I and I'm
- 14:00Speaker 5: not lying and Fred you'll remember this, Charles Barkley was
- 14:03Speaker 5: at a game. It was a night game here in Foxboro.
- 14:06Speaker 5: He came to a game. Then remember he told us
- 14:07Speaker 5: he was right by the way. Now y'all going to suck,
- 14:10Speaker 5: you know, when when when Tom had build Me so
- 14:15Speaker 5: he was here and Jackie Mack was covering that game
- 14:17Speaker 5: that night. He was a little you know, I think
- 14:19Speaker 5: you've probably had a few. And he picked Jackie mcmullona
- 14:23Speaker 5: like he gave her a hug, picked her up and
- 14:25Speaker 5: was like walking in the locker room with her. And
- 14:28Speaker 5: then she got really mad. She's like, you put me down.
- 14:31Speaker 5: You can't do that like that. It just showed you
- 14:33Speaker 5: the relationship that she has with this guy.
- 14:35Speaker 3: She was like, I remember covering the Celtics. I was,
- 14:38Speaker 3: oh my god, I was so young, but my first
- 14:40Speaker 3: year covering in a Celtics I was like, but I
- 14:43Speaker 3: was like twenty two, my first year covering the Celtics.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Like two.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Anyways, aient I just saw Jackie Mack walk onto the
- 14:51Speaker 3: court pregame and just like sit down next to Kyrie Irving, who,
- 14:54Speaker 3: like everyone knows, was so bipolar at that point, but
- 14:57Speaker 3: his face would light up. He was like a different
- 14:59Speaker 3: person to talking to Jackie. And it was just so
- 15:02Speaker 3: cool to see because I mean, unlike you guys, I
- 15:04Speaker 3: respect the hell out of her.
- 15:05Speaker 4: She's a little Karen Karen.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Karen has it too. It's it's a reporter's chops that
- 15:11Speaker 5: I don't think a lot of people, let alone don't
- 15:13Speaker 5: have I don't think that, Yeah, I don't think they
- 15:15Speaker 5: try to develop.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Them and they're earned there because they're earned, you don't
- 15:20Speaker 1: just have Kevin.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Like it was unbelievable the way Kevin would like rip
- 15:25Speaker 5: the players when they needed to be ripped, But he'd
- 15:28Speaker 5: go in the locker room and they'd be like, hey, Kevy.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Well he had the man's report card and he'd give
- 15:36Speaker 1: guys f's and then he'd show up in the locker
- 15:38Speaker 1: room the next day and sometimes they.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Confront him John Hannah but had a hard time, but
- 15:44Speaker 5: he never backed down.
- 15:45Speaker 6: But I feel like that's like when you were talking
- 15:48Speaker 6: about columnists and beat reporters being separate. I think that's
- 15:51Speaker 6: a big part of it with the relationship with the
- 15:53Speaker 6: players is you know a lot of guys it's all
- 15:57Speaker 6: over social media now too, and like guys pay attention
- 16:01Speaker 6: to what we're saying about them. And I think that
- 16:03Speaker 6: there's a little bit of a guard up with with
- 16:05Speaker 6: a lot of yea because I know, like, oh, like,
- 16:09Speaker 6: am I really gonna be nice to this guy when
- 16:12Speaker 6: yesterday he was calling me stink stanks stunk. Sorry, you know,
- 16:16Speaker 6: like like that that sort of thing. And I feel
- 16:18Speaker 6: like because it's so prevalent on social media now, like
- 16:21Speaker 6: all these guys pay attention. Like that's one thing that
- 16:23Speaker 6: I've noticed to like, especially now that I work for
- 16:26Speaker 6: the team, Like they they all know what I write
- 16:29Speaker 6: about them. Yeah, and like for better or worse, Like
- 16:32Speaker 6: that's just you know, and.
- 16:33Speaker 1: You know, like IFS is playing two roles, he's like
- 16:37Speaker 1: covering a beat and he's going on TV and right,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and that's that's tough to do without you know, losing.
- 16:45Speaker 5: He's one of the few that does it the right way.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Well, I don't know about that, but like I don't
- 16:50Speaker 1: think like if you're going to report on a team
- 16:53Speaker 1: and be I don't think you should be calling guys
- 16:55Speaker 1: stink stank, stunk.
- 16:56Speaker 5: What do you mean? Like that's not fair, that's achieve
- 16:58Speaker 5: He works for like an independent he doesn't want the
- 17:01Speaker 5: NFL network anymore.
- 17:02Speaker 1: No, but he's the Patriots guy for clinics, right or whatever.
- 17:06Speaker 5: For what Boston sports journals. It's an independent website. They're not.
- 17:10Speaker 5: It's not not like the beat writer.
- 17:12Speaker 1: No, but he is the guy that, yes, he is
- 17:14Speaker 1: for the for sports.
- 17:17Speaker 5: They don't have beat writers. It's just like some random website.
- 17:20Speaker 1: But he's the guy who covers the Patriots right.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Like as a beat, no conjunction, like it's all it's
- 17:26Speaker 5: all columns. He writes columns every day already Colon like
- 17:30Speaker 5: they put him on Twitter every day.
- 17:31Speaker 1: But he's not the one that reports the news of
- 17:33Speaker 1: the Patriots.
- 17:33Speaker 5: They don't. They're not a news organization.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I think they would differ.
- 17:38Speaker 5: I don't all right, I think they're giving you analysis.
- 17:41Speaker 5: I think it's an analysis organization. I think Greg's bread
- 17:43Speaker 5: and butter is Evan All twenty two. I don't think
- 17:47Speaker 5: they're looking for news.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Well, they have different guys with different you know, things
- 17:51Speaker 1: that they.
- 17:51Speaker 5: I don't think that's I'm not being disrespectful of the
- 17:53Speaker 5: Boston sports journal I don't think that they're Globe. I
- 17:55Speaker 5: don't think they're trying to be the Boston Globe with
- 17:57Speaker 5: the Boston Herald and trying to break news. I think
- 17:59Speaker 5: that they I think they're trying to cover the team, yes,
- 18:02Speaker 5: but not that way.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I think they.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Wanted to beat right.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I think they want to be a destination for any
- 18:08Speaker 1: of the teams that they cover. For Here's where you
- 18:10Speaker 1: come to get your news about the Patriots or the
- 18:13Speaker 1: Celtics or whatever.
- 18:14Speaker 6: And when I need the ALL twenty two, I go
- 18:15Speaker 6: to Evan.
- 18:16Speaker 5: Yeah. Right, But I just think, well, I think we're
- 18:19Speaker 5: saying the same thing, but we think it's different things.
- 18:21Speaker 5: That's all.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I think.
- 18:21Speaker 4: It's the heart of what the debate is about new
- 18:23Speaker 4: media and you know, the ability of blogs.
- 18:25Speaker 5: I's right, I agree.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I think to me, it's one thing when when Shaughnessy
- 18:29Speaker 1: does his column and he's taken his making his jabs
- 18:32Speaker 1: and everything. But I think when you're covering the team,
- 18:34Speaker 1: you need to be fair and not take cheap shots.
- 18:37Speaker 6: Yeah, i'd agree with that.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:39Speaker 6: I got a funny text from from Greg. That's why
- 18:41Speaker 6: I said, you get the All twenty two from Evan
- 18:43Speaker 6: because we have the same source of All twenty two.
- 18:46Speaker 6: And around the holidays, the guy kind of goes m
- 18:49Speaker 6: I a a little bit, and so Greg he texted
- 18:52Speaker 6: me and he's like, this guy kills me every year
- 18:54Speaker 6: around the holidays. And I was like, yeah, I know,
- 18:57Speaker 6: you got to use game pass and he's like, I
- 18:58Speaker 6: won't do it. It's like I don't know what to
- 19:01Speaker 6: tell you.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Well, All twenty two is all twenty two though it's
- 19:03Speaker 1: the same angle.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Right yeah, oh you silly.
- 19:06Speaker 6: But the one that we get is like ten ADP
- 19:10Speaker 6: like high call.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Okay, it's a better question.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 6: And you can download the file directly to your computer. Okay,
- 19:15Speaker 6: so it makes it easier to cut it out, gotcha, Yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Okay, competing I love it.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Wow, that's a lot off of just cha.
- 19:24Speaker 5: We break into those journalism talks everyone. I think Fred's
- 19:28Speaker 5: point about the the blurred lines is.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I us sitting here, it's a good
- 19:34Speaker 4: cross representation of you know, I would say I'm probably
- 19:37Speaker 4: the most extreme of of all of it. I mean,
- 19:39Speaker 4: alex Is, I mean, I never took a sports journalism class,
- 19:41Speaker 4: and you know, Evan's kind of dabbled where he has
- 19:43Speaker 4: some background, but he's also written regular stuff. I mean,
- 19:46Speaker 4: you guys are you know, old school and you know
- 19:48Speaker 4: the traditional kind of columnists, journalists like Mike Reese is
- 19:52Speaker 4: you know, considered one of the best covering the Patriots,
- 19:55Speaker 4: you know, in terms of thoroughness and all that, and
- 19:59Speaker 4: he's always been and you know, just reporting the news,
- 20:02Speaker 4: you know, he'll throw in a little nugget there, you know,
- 20:05Speaker 4: kind of like what does he know, but he'll make
- 20:08Speaker 4: it like he'll make it clear that it's just it's,
- 20:10Speaker 4: you know, something he's just thinking about.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It's speculation. But lately he's been going more and more
- 20:16Speaker 1: on the radio, And when you're on the radio, they
- 20:18Speaker 1: don't want just you know, down the middle, they want
- 20:21Speaker 1: your opinion.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Well, the Trent Brown the way he wrote, Trent Brown
- 20:24Speaker 4: absent from practice they today, which was an illness. So
- 20:26Speaker 4: take from that what you will. But I will say,
- 20:29Speaker 4: like I'm just so impressed with Mike's relentlessness, Like he
- 20:32Speaker 4: just I mean hare he is posting the numbers of
- 20:35Speaker 4: the new guy they just got this morning. I mean,
- 20:37Speaker 4: we talk a lot about Look, the Patriots don't have
- 20:38Speaker 4: a great season, and it will be easy to kind
- 20:40Speaker 4: of mail it in a little bit here down at
- 20:41Speaker 4: the end. But he just keeps doing what he does
- 20:43Speaker 4: no matter what it is. And I mean, I know
- 20:45Speaker 4: Paul's has a lot of interactions with him.
- 20:47Speaker 5: I love this season. The reason's gone on I've ever
- 20:50Speaker 5: worked with.
- 20:51Speaker 4: But he's a little rattled, right, Like rattled.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think I keep telling him, I don't
- 20:55Speaker 5: think he's handling covering a bad team.
- 20:57Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, I love Mike, and he's like one of
- 21:00Speaker 6: those people that I'm like, if I'm here as often
- 21:03Speaker 6: as Mike Ree is here, then I'm doing it right right,
- 21:05Speaker 6: Like I just like I'm always and he always talks
- 21:08Speaker 6: to me and Alex and he is like, he's like,
- 21:11Speaker 6: you guys like try to always like beat me here
- 21:13Speaker 6: and stuff like that. And I'm like, yeah, because you're
- 21:15Speaker 6: like the gold standard. Like if we're if we're covering
- 21:18Speaker 6: the team as much as you cover the team, then
- 21:19Speaker 6: we're doing it right.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Well, you would have to go to community events for
- 21:22Speaker 3: that time, look at right till a year into your ten.
- 21:29Speaker 1: But he I mean, we have you for I'm not saying.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'm not saying Mike is not covering the community events,
- 21:36Speaker 1: but the reason he really goes is because that's sometimes
- 21:40Speaker 1: where you get the best access.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Well he also.
- 21:45Speaker 1: But like you know, the guy is like, hey, thanks
- 21:47Speaker 1: for coming to my event. I'll give you five minutes,
- 21:49Speaker 1: you know.
- 21:50Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's not necessarily for the five minutes. It's
- 21:54Speaker 5: the relationship. And it gets back to this is why
- 21:57Speaker 5: we don't have these storytellers anymore, because no one really
- 22:00Speaker 5: cares about developing relationships.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and also it's not really intantized from your employer anymore.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I mean, rememberhen the athletic came to town, and that
- 22:08Speaker 3: was going to be their shtick, like they're going back
- 22:10Speaker 3: to real columns and long form features and all this,
- 22:13Speaker 3: And how long did it last before their editors were saying, wait, actually,
- 22:17Speaker 3: let's write some practice reports, let's write these clickbait headlines.
- 22:20Speaker 3: And it just kind of fell right back to where
- 22:23Speaker 3: it was. But it's what they tried to.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Do, and yeah, yeah, all right, eight five to five.
- 22:28Speaker 1: PATS five hundred is the a stick and outline web
- 22:30Speaker 1: radio at Patriots dot com is the email address. We
- 22:33Speaker 1: had our first practice yesterday. We get that report. Any
- 22:38Speaker 1: other Patriots news that we need to know before we
- 22:40Speaker 1: open it up to the phone lines.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Peppers out?
- 22:43Speaker 6: Yeah, no Peppers, Trent Brown and obviously no Ramandre who
- 22:48Speaker 6: was placed on injured reserve. So I guess maybe that
- 22:50Speaker 6: it's a little bit of Patriots news is out for
- 22:52Speaker 6: the season. We did see Jalen Mills. Always my favorite
- 22:55Speaker 6: when we're like, is that him like sitting on the bench,
- 22:58Speaker 6: like yeah, well we're like on the other side of
- 23:02Speaker 6: the field. Yeah, he was there. Jalen Mills spectator and
- 23:06Speaker 6: I'm also I had a great conversation with Ivan Fears,
- 23:10Speaker 6: who was who was also there. Yeah, he's always yeah smoking.
- 23:14Speaker 6: It should be taking up smoking a nice Stokes smoking
- 23:17Speaker 6: a Stogy outside the bubble.
- 23:20Speaker 5: And I walked up to him. I was like, what
- 23:21Speaker 5: a g G?
- 23:25Speaker 4: All right, were you guys ever in the press box
- 23:26Speaker 4: when guys would smoke in.
- 23:27Speaker 5: The press pod? Yeah, oh my god, man, George Kimball,
- 23:31Speaker 5: you had to go in the back.
- 23:34Speaker 4: The old State Never, No, I never, like never school stadium.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say that on the whole, these guys
- 23:42Speaker 1: are in better shape.
- 23:43Speaker 5: Than they used to be.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I know, what was the average lifespan?
- 23:48Speaker 5: That's the one compliment.
- 23:51Speaker 1: All these guys. They didn't take care of themselves, not
- 23:54Speaker 1: at all.
- 23:55Speaker 4: But but no, but but the bigger point was just good,
- 23:58Speaker 4: good vibes in the locker room, probably better than all years.
- 24:01Speaker 4: So what does it mean? I don't know, but I.
- 24:03Speaker 6: Did that was I mean, obviously after you win a
- 24:05Speaker 6: game in Denver, that that you're going to be excited.
- 24:07Speaker 6: But the locker room between postgame Denver than today yesterday,
- 24:13Speaker 6: when guys were talking, guys, we were happy to talk
- 24:15Speaker 6: to media, which is pretty rare.
- 24:17Speaker 5: You know like it was.
- 24:19Speaker 6: It was a it was a lively locker room for it.
- 24:21Speaker 6: Why do you think that is a couple of wins?
- 24:24Speaker 6: I guess.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Okay, so we've been in locker rooms where they've had
- 24:27Speaker 1: a couple of wins before, but it's not always like that,
- 24:30Speaker 1: even in better times.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 24:32Speaker 6: I was trying to think about it yesterday and I,
- 24:35Speaker 6: you know, afterwards, and I, I don't know.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Do you think some of it's for show, just to
- 24:39Speaker 1: kind of showcase.
- 24:40Speaker 3: You can sense the vibes are down, you can sense authetic. Yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 3: And for some reason, I feel I don't know, maybe
- 24:47Speaker 3: it's ever since Germany, I feel like for whatever reason,
- 24:52Speaker 3: it's been kind of light in there. And I don't know,
- 24:55Speaker 3: I give them a lot of credit for the way
- 24:57Speaker 3: the locker room has been despite everything.
- 24:59Speaker 4: I just like going into Buffalo kind of being loose.
- 25:01Speaker 4: And I mean, you heard the Bills talk yesterday, Josh
- 25:04Speaker 4: Allen saying, you know, this is a team that's like
- 25:05Speaker 4: loose and they're not. You know, they're gonna come in here,
- 25:07Speaker 4: look going to ruin our playoff hopes, and you know
- 25:09Speaker 4: we're expecting them to come in and play hard. So
- 25:12Speaker 4: That's what I'm kind of expecting.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I are you? Are we expecting a good game?
- 25:16Speaker 4: I kind of am. I think the Bills will pull away,
- 25:19Speaker 4: you know. I just I think they got too much.
- 25:20Speaker 4: That's I've seen too much of Josh Allen to think
- 25:22Speaker 4: they could do with two in a row. But I
- 25:23Speaker 4: don't know. My feelings is gonna be surprisingly closed through
- 25:26Speaker 4: the first half and you know, into the third quarter
- 25:28Speaker 4: and then I feel like winning time Josh Allen, Stefan Diggs.
- 25:31Speaker 4: They start to kick in the gear and you know
- 25:33Speaker 4: they pull away.
- 25:34Speaker 1: But will it be a game that eventually has a
- 25:37Speaker 1: name like Harper's Muff the win game?
- 25:41Speaker 4: I mean probably only if the Patriots win. If the
- 25:43Speaker 4: Patriots win, maybe, but it's hard to see like a sappy.
- 25:45Speaker 5: One the Bills should win.
- 25:47Speaker 4: And I don't know, it's hard to see a game
- 25:48Speaker 4: going as it should have gone, you know, I mean,
- 25:51Speaker 4: what are they favored by twelve points or something crazy
- 25:53Speaker 4: like that. Like, I mean, but if it was an upset, maybe,
- 25:55Speaker 4: you know, maybe if there's a big play something like that.
- 25:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I I almost feel like the pressure being so
- 26:02Speaker 6: much off the Patriots and the players is maybe what's
- 26:05Speaker 6: contributing the most to the mood right now is just like,
- 26:08Speaker 6: all right, we were not making the playoffs, like we
- 26:11Speaker 6: had a bad season, but at this point we got
- 26:13Speaker 6: to finish out the string. And I feel like maybe
- 26:15Speaker 6: that's part of it. With Zappy a little bit too,
- 26:17Speaker 6: is just like what pressure does he really have? All
- 26:20Speaker 6: he first of all he's got to do is be
- 26:22Speaker 6: better than mac Jones, which like that bar wasn't very high.
- 26:25Speaker 6: And then secondly, it's not like anything's really on the line,
- 26:28Speaker 6: Like if he loses, then the fans are happy about
- 26:31Speaker 6: it because they lost, and if he wins, then like
- 26:33Speaker 6: it's good for him.
- 26:34Speaker 3: So I think you're right. I had a conversation with
- 26:37Speaker 3: Tavia's girlfriend a couple of weeks ago around Christmas, and
- 26:40Speaker 3: she was just telling me how frustrated he would come
- 26:42Speaker 3: home during the season, and then once you start to
- 26:46Speaker 3: really get out of it, he kind of had a
- 26:48Speaker 3: different mentality where he was like, Okay, I can play
- 26:50Speaker 3: more free and I'm really kind of playing not for myself,
- 26:54Speaker 3: but I'm still trying to make a name for myself here.
- 26:56Speaker 3: And ever since then, he's just been in great moods
- 26:59Speaker 3: and he's been having such a great season, and I
- 27:01Speaker 3: wonder if that translates to the rest of the locker
- 27:04Speaker 3: room too.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Yeah, just two weeks left too.
- 27:06Speaker 1: How much credit does Belichick get for this mood?
- 27:11Speaker 4: I mean, I don't. I mean, I just I kind
- 27:13Speaker 4: of credit the players. They got the win, and you know,
- 27:16Speaker 4: I think they're kind of reaping or you know, reaping
- 27:18Speaker 4: what they sowed in terms of getting a victory. So
- 27:21Speaker 4: I don't know, but I mean, it's certainly not a
- 27:22Speaker 4: depressed and scary place, so I guess a little bit
- 27:24Speaker 4: of credit. But I think it really comes down to,
- 27:27Speaker 4: you know, players just making the big plays when they
- 27:28Speaker 4: had to, and I think that's probably got to be
- 27:30Speaker 4: a little bit satisfying for them. But you know, it's
- 27:33Speaker 4: still it's just it was such a up and down performance,
- 27:35Speaker 4: and it's it's kind of easy to remember, you know,
- 27:38Speaker 4: the big throat to Parker or you know, the touchdown
- 27:40Speaker 4: to Gasiki or you know, of course rylance Field. Yeah,
- 27:44Speaker 4: but you know, and you kind of forget about how
- 27:46Speaker 4: we missed two kicks, and you know, there were there
- 27:48Speaker 4: were some problems there, I mean, the defense giving up
- 27:50Speaker 4: those two clutch drives there, and in the fourth it
- 27:52Speaker 4: seemed like the momentum was all on the other side.
- 27:54Speaker 4: So we're kind of sweeping all that stuff under the
- 27:56Speaker 4: rug right now, and we'll see if it comes to
- 27:58Speaker 4: back to bite them in Buffalo. If they can, I
- 28:00Speaker 4: think they got to eliminate a bunch of those mistakes
- 28:02Speaker 4: if they are realistically to have a chance.
- 28:03Speaker 6: I think you have to give him credit for like,
- 28:05Speaker 6: there's a lot of competitors still in that in that
- 28:09Speaker 6: locker room, you know, like guys obviously like the old timers,
- 28:12Speaker 6: like a David Andrews is number one, but there's still
- 28:16Speaker 6: you know, even some of those younger guys, you know,
- 28:18Speaker 6: Christian Barmore goes out there, has the game of his life.
- 28:20Speaker 6: Like that guy's obviously trying, Like it's not like he's
- 28:23Speaker 6: you know, let go of the rope because they're four
- 28:24Speaker 6: and eleven. So I think that's a good thing just
- 28:27Speaker 6: from a long term point of view of the team
- 28:30Speaker 6: going into next year, is that they that's not a
- 28:32Speaker 6: locker room of losers. Like there's a lot of guys
- 28:34Speaker 6: in there that really care about this and put a
- 28:37Speaker 6: lot into it and care about winning.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Nice Barber was funny. We heard him went down and
- 28:41Speaker 4: heard him talk today. He then realized was such a
- 28:43Speaker 4: big Chris Jones fan. Studies Chris Jones a lot, and
- 28:45Speaker 4: he said he got a jersey from Chris Jones. He's like,
- 28:47Speaker 4: I almost cried. That's kind of funny. But he's watched
- 28:51Speaker 4: a lot of.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Chris Jones film. Before we open it up, just want
- 28:54Speaker 1: to say congratulations to Rodney Harrison got to the final
- 28:58Speaker 1: fifteen for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But a
- 29:02Speaker 1: tough class crossed.
- 29:03Speaker 4: You'd love to see him get in. But I'm like,
- 29:05Speaker 4: even if I were a voter, it's I mean, there's
- 29:08Speaker 4: a lot of really really good players that work. Yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 4: it's a good generation superstars and yeah, you know what,
- 29:13Speaker 4: we'll we'll see. I mean, it's a good sign. He
- 29:14Speaker 4: made it to the finals here in his third time.
- 29:16Speaker 4: But I don't know, I have I have a hard time,
- 29:18Speaker 4: like how many did they? Is there set number of
- 29:20Speaker 4: how many actually gets to come in? Five guys? Yeah, yeah,
- 29:23Speaker 4: that's gonna be a tough one.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Does it have to be five? It can be less, right.
- 29:26Speaker 6: Yeah, but it can't be. I don't know about that,
- 29:28Speaker 6: but I know five is the max?
- 29:31Speaker 1: Right, can't be more than five?
- 29:32Speaker 6: Right, It's just tough, Like with guys like Rodney, because
- 29:36Speaker 6: now you guys start like Antonio Gates right his first
- 29:39Speaker 6: year on the ballot, so like those guys start to
- 29:42Speaker 6: come up. But because Rodney like missed it when he
- 29:45Speaker 6: probably should have gone in, now all these first ballot
- 29:48Speaker 6: guys are starting, you know, it just kind of pushes
- 29:50Speaker 6: him further further further down the list. But usually when
- 29:53Speaker 6: guys get to the fight, like, it's a good sign
- 29:55Speaker 6: that he got to the final list list, and that
- 29:58Speaker 6: usually means event like if there's like a weaker class
- 30:02Speaker 6: or something like that, they'll make good on the guys
- 30:04Speaker 6: that kind of slipped through the cracks like Rodney.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Like and Andre Johnson, Patrick Willis, I mean he's got
- 30:10Speaker 4: I mean, no disrespect to Rodney for but I mean,
- 30:13Speaker 4: you know, those guys were really good for for a
- 30:15Speaker 4: long time. I mean, I don't know, Devin Hester was one.
- 30:18Speaker 4: I was like, all right, I would probab maybe go
- 30:19Speaker 4: Roddy over Devin Hester.
- 30:21Speaker 1: But yeah, I have I don't want to get into
- 30:24Speaker 1: my issues with this whole thing, but anyway, let's let's hope.
- 30:26Speaker 5: What are your issues with the whole thing.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I just you know, it shouldn't be like, oh, he
- 30:31Speaker 1: didn't get in, so we'll make good down the road.
- 30:34Speaker 1: If a guy deserves to be in the hall, you
- 30:35Speaker 1: should just get in the hall.
- 30:37Speaker 5: I can't stand the minimums and maximums.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, like if eight guys are hall worthy, eight
- 30:47Speaker 1: guys should go in.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Yeah. I don't like really Hall of Fame period. But
- 30:52Speaker 5: all right, there's no there's no perfect way to do it.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Eight five five pats five hundred is these taken outline
- 30:57Speaker 1: web radio at pages dot com. Is the email address us.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Let's open it up because we do have picks today,
- 31:02Speaker 1: so we have to hurry. Anthony's in Seattle. What's up
- 31:06Speaker 1: Anthony's pray with some of my people.
- 31:09Speaker 8: Hey guys, I've got a couple of things I wanted
- 31:13Speaker 8: to address, if I may. One, I wanted to this
- 31:16Speaker 8: this sudden divisiveness we have as as fans, and then
- 31:20Speaker 8: the other thing. I just had a suple quick just
- 31:22Speaker 8: a quick thought on Zappy. But first off, suddenly it's
- 31:26Speaker 8: been brought up a few times on this show where
- 31:29Speaker 8: you know, suddenly it's if you anybody who who wants
- 31:33Speaker 8: wants to tank is not a real fan. And if
- 31:38Speaker 8: you recall, I mean I thought we were winning the
- 31:39Speaker 8: Super Bowl at the beginning of this season, and then
- 31:42Speaker 8: you get to a certain point in the season where
- 31:44Speaker 8: you want to win, but then there's like a tipping
- 31:46Speaker 8: point where it's like, okay, well it doesn't help us
- 31:48Speaker 8: to win anymore. So full disposure. Yeah, I mean, I'm
- 31:50Speaker 8: on I'm on Tank. You know I'm on Tank watch.
- 31:53Speaker 8: But I mean, here's the thing. If if, if you're
- 31:56Speaker 8: someone who still wants, you know, to win, I'm not
- 31:58Speaker 8: going to tell you you're not a real fan because
- 32:01Speaker 8: you you don't know what's the best interest of the team. Listen,
- 32:03Speaker 8: if you're still watching and rooting for the Patriots one
- 32:06Speaker 8: way or another, you're rooting for him to win right now,
- 32:08Speaker 8: or you're rooting for them to tank because you want
- 32:10Speaker 8: him to win later, you're rooting for the best int
- 32:12Speaker 8: of the team. If you're still watching, you still have
- 32:14Speaker 8: vested interests in the Patriots, you are a real fan.
- 32:17Speaker 8: It's us versus those fans who suddenly I've heard it
- 32:22Speaker 8: a couple of times. You know, some people call them
- 32:24Speaker 8: the show or emailing the show. I know a couple
- 32:26Speaker 8: of people personally suddenly those fans who oh, well, I
- 32:29Speaker 8: only watched one game this year. Those guys, Okay, did
- 32:32Speaker 8: you guys only watch one or two games when Brady
- 32:34Speaker 8: was a quarterback and we were winning twelve games a year.
- 32:36Speaker 8: It's us versus those quote unquote fans where oh, okay,
- 32:41Speaker 8: that's a little suspicious. You know, those are the ones
- 32:43Speaker 8: that I would question if those are real fans. But
- 32:45Speaker 8: the ones who are we're still watching and supporting the
- 32:48Speaker 8: team one way or another every week. We're all real fans.
- 32:51Speaker 8: And this this thing where you know, I don't want
- 32:54Speaker 8: to go down the guy. I got one more thing
- 32:55Speaker 8: about Zabie and I don't want to hold up the show,
- 32:57Speaker 8: but we're all fans. Let's just And the thing about
- 33:00Speaker 8: Zaffi is Fred kind of alluded alluded to it a
- 33:04Speaker 8: little bit, and I don't know, I feel like Evan
- 33:06Speaker 8: and Paul kind of have been have been dismissive of it.
- 33:08Speaker 8: And I didn't think i'd even say this, but I
- 33:13Speaker 8: think the conversation as he's at least opened up the
- 33:16Speaker 8: conversation of him getting a chance to start next year.
- 33:20Speaker 9: I don't think.
- 33:21Speaker 8: I don't think listen, I think we need a quarterback,
- 33:23Speaker 8: but I think there's a there is a pretty big
- 33:26Speaker 8: difference where the kid has now got us kind of
- 33:29Speaker 8: playing winning football, where having a guy who stands still
- 33:33Speaker 8: and takes a stack and sets up third and eighteen
- 33:36Speaker 8: as opposed to a guy who avoids pressure, takes a
- 33:38Speaker 8: checkdown and gets five yards and sets up third and five.
- 33:41Speaker 8: That is a big difference. And then he's occasionally making
- 33:44Speaker 8: an off platform play and like the touchdown to Gooseki,
- 33:48Speaker 8: those are plays that that Matt can't make. So you know,
- 33:50Speaker 8: if we get in a position to get a say
- 33:52Speaker 8: a Marvin Harrison and and maybe some offensive line and
- 33:56Speaker 8: surround him with some talent, I think, you know, I
- 33:59Speaker 8: think the conversation is kind of open for maybe seeing
- 34:02Speaker 8: what Zappy can bring to this team. He's only started
- 34:04Speaker 8: six games in the NFL, and.
- 34:07Speaker 1: All right, thanks Anthony. Listen, if za Be closes the
- 34:10Speaker 1: season out with two wins and does it and actually
- 34:13Speaker 1: contributes to the win, like he's one of the reasons
- 34:16Speaker 1: why they won, I think you're gonna hear a groundswell
- 34:18Speaker 1: of people like, let him compete for the starting job.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Compete is I'm fine with I don't.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I don't mean hand it to him.
- 34:24Speaker 5: I just think that.
- 34:26Speaker 6: And it's not like to take shots at Anthony, but
- 34:28Speaker 6: like if your bar is better than mac Jones and
- 34:30Speaker 6: the bar is not high enough, right, Like.
- 34:32Speaker 5: So like this much better than mac Jones, right, And.
- 34:35Speaker 6: So to sit here and say, like our our only
- 34:38Speaker 6: bar of like who should be the starter for the
- 34:41Speaker 6: Patriots next year or beyond, is well, he's better than
- 34:44Speaker 6: mac Jones.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Was No, that's not the measuring stick.
- 34:47Speaker 6: Right, So, like saying that about Zappi is not really
- 34:51Speaker 6: I don't think like the big like win that for me, if.
- 34:54Speaker 3: You would have to close out the season really well,
- 34:57Speaker 3: like great passing performances, It's not.
- 34:59Speaker 5: A lot better than four games that he's played, for sure.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Yeah, but I can make I could get on board
- 35:04Speaker 3: with that. Maybe not, like if he competes for the
- 35:06Speaker 3: role and then he's just still that bridge as we're
- 35:08Speaker 3: adding other important pieces to the team that aren't necessarily
- 35:12Speaker 3: a quarterback.
- 35:12Speaker 6: I'm just not I can't get He would have to
- 35:16Speaker 6: really blow us away in the last two weeks of
- 35:18Speaker 6: the season for me to take quarterback in the first
- 35:20Speaker 6: round off the table. Yeah, Like that would have to
- 35:23Speaker 6: be really really unreal, like puts up forty five against
- 35:29Speaker 6: Buffalo or something like that for me to sit here
- 35:31Speaker 6: and say, oh, you know, Drake may forget it, like
- 35:34Speaker 6: we don't need Drake may like you know, like that
- 35:36Speaker 6: sort of thing.
- 35:37Speaker 1: But you're not gonna get him.
- 35:39Speaker 6: But if you, if you like said to me that
- 35:41Speaker 6: their plan next year was like Bailey Zappy with Pennix
- 35:46Speaker 6: or Bailey Zappy with bow Knicks or like one of
- 35:49Speaker 6: these guys that's not gonna be a top five pick
- 35:51Speaker 6: in the draft. Am I like jumping for joy about it?
- 35:56Speaker 5: No?
- 35:56Speaker 6: But like I'm not gonna necessarily kill him for it either.
- 35:59Speaker 6: I just think that it would have to you'd have
- 36:01Speaker 6: to still have that that rookie.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Then I think to pin your hopes on Bailey ZAPPI
- 36:07Speaker 1: would be kind of foolish. Yeah, but but I think
- 36:10Speaker 1: there's a way for him to earn a shot at it,
- 36:14Speaker 1: is what I'm saying.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I just think it's valuable to have
- 36:16Speaker 4: quarterbacks who are at least like a component, you know.
- 36:19Speaker 4: I mean, they don't really have anybody, and I don't
- 36:21Speaker 4: I don't know what's gonna happen with Mac Jones. I
- 36:22Speaker 4: just I think that's one of the most interesting things
- 36:24Speaker 4: to me is is do they get rid of him?
- 36:27Speaker 4: Does he ask out? Does you know what that? I
- 36:29Speaker 4: mean to me, it's just Bailly's appie will be here
- 36:31Speaker 4: I think in the summer. Like, I don't, I don't
- 36:32Speaker 4: see the reason why you would be eager to get
- 36:35Speaker 4: rid of him.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Anthony's other point about the division, you know, like people, Yeah.
- 36:39Speaker 4: People can do whatever they want. I mean, I think
- 36:40Speaker 4: it's Matthew disagrees. Well.
- 36:42Speaker 1: He's writing in from New Mexico. He says people complaining
- 36:45Speaker 1: about our draft position should stop watching and rooting for
- 36:48Speaker 1: the Patriots. They should stop watching football for a decade,
- 36:51Speaker 1: cry more and cry louder. Please, it's just football.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Who cares? I mean, you can root however you want.
- 36:56Speaker 4: I just thought he was interesting where on one hand
- 36:58Speaker 4: he said he was rooting the Tank, but he was
- 36:59Speaker 4: also on the opption of keeping Zappy, which usually I
- 37:02Speaker 4: feel like the people who are pro Tank are pro.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I think both sides are fans. Yeah one, you know
- 37:09Speaker 1: you're both, you're both fans.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I don't like to tell people how to think. Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 5: but politicians do that enough.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's I mean, I just I it's
- 37:18Speaker 4: a hard experience as a fan to like, I don't
- 37:20Speaker 4: know if you're if you're really in your heart of hearts,
- 37:22Speaker 4: like really rooting for the Broncos last week. I mean
- 37:24Speaker 4: we literally like you know that, that to me is
- 37:26Speaker 4: a little strange, Like I just I have it in
- 37:28Speaker 4: me when I'm in see the Patriots against the Broncos,
- 37:31Speaker 4: no matter the setup that, you know, I want the
- 37:34Speaker 4: Patriots to win. Like that's but you know, people can
- 37:37Speaker 4: do what they want. I don't care.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Let's go to in New York. What's up, nitty, Hey,
- 37:41Speaker 1: how's it going.
- 37:42Speaker 10: Happy belated holidays with you guys?
- 37:44Speaker 1: How you doing? Thanks?
- 37:46Speaker 10: Uh So, I think Anthony pretty much like touched on
- 37:48Speaker 10: all the things I wanted to touch on as well
- 37:51Speaker 10: to the notion of fandom. And you know, I have
- 37:53Speaker 10: a lot of friends that are on one side or
- 37:55Speaker 10: the other in terms of people that are just all
- 37:58Speaker 10: in with the tank or all in on Hey if
- 38:00Speaker 10: you're if you're not watching and Red to win, like
- 38:02Speaker 10: are you? Are you a real fan? And I think
- 38:04Speaker 10: it's like like you like you guys said, like it's
- 38:07Speaker 10: it's on a spectrum and it's football at the end
- 38:09Speaker 10: of the day, and you watch however you want to watch.
- 38:10Speaker 10: And I get the notion of you know, with with tanking,
- 38:14Speaker 10: there's a very real implication that you're you're not really
- 38:17Speaker 10: going to be in this hopefully draft position in a
- 38:21Speaker 10: long long time, and being able to pick at the top,
- 38:24Speaker 10: like you guys have talked on with your other shows,
- 38:26Speaker 10: is you know, you get more options to work with
- 38:30Speaker 10: when you're picking out two versus eight. So I get that,
- 38:33Speaker 10: and I guess my my my sentiment is when when
- 38:37Speaker 10: watching the Patriots on Christmas, you know it's it's Christmas Day,
- 38:41Speaker 10: I'm home with my family for the first time in months,
- 38:43Speaker 10: and watching the game and seeing Chad Ryland kick that
- 38:47Speaker 10: game winning field goal in a redemption sort of way,
- 38:50Speaker 10: I fiving my my family afterwards, Like I take that
- 38:54Speaker 10: any any day of the week, honestly, regardless of draft position.
- 38:58Speaker 10: And I kind of want to turn it to you guys.
- 39:00Speaker 10: You know, the Patriots were to win out these these
- 39:03Speaker 10: last two games or lose out these last two games,
- 39:06Speaker 10: would you rather be you know, absolute nail biters of
- 39:10Speaker 10: wins like Bailey Zappi's playing his part out and Barmore's
- 39:16Speaker 10: playing his dominant self and you know they went out,
- 39:20Speaker 10: or would you rather dad or see you know, a
- 39:24Speaker 10: heartbreaker of a game like like in Germany and they
- 39:27Speaker 10: lose out, but they managed to get a top you
- 39:30Speaker 10: know five top board pick. I'd rather I guess kind
- 39:34Speaker 10: of wanted to hear it one way or the other.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Thanks Nitny. I'd rather have them blow both these teams
- 39:38Speaker 1: out of the water both games.
- 39:40Speaker 4: I just want to be entertained, Like I don't really
- 39:42Speaker 4: like that.
- 39:42Speaker 1: That would to me, that would be entertaining, I know.
- 39:44Speaker 4: And I think the thing that just bugs me is
- 39:46Speaker 4: when people act like going from two to four it's
- 39:48Speaker 4: the end of the world, like you know what it's like, yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 4: I mean, you know, but but just acting so like,
- 39:54Speaker 4: oh my god, it's over. You know, it's like you're
- 39:57Speaker 4: still in position to get a talented player, so you
- 39:59Speaker 4: don't have to like jump off the bridge because you
- 40:01Speaker 4: fell from two to four. Now, if they do win
- 40:03Speaker 4: the last two games and they end up at nine,
- 40:05Speaker 4: I get it a little bit more. But you know,
- 40:06Speaker 4: at this point, I'll take that win over two verse four.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Yeah, like beating the Bills and then beating the Jets,
- 40:12Speaker 1: like that's that's fun.
- 40:14Speaker 4: I mean, not gonna I mean play, I mean putting
- 40:17Speaker 4: Buffalo's playoff hopes in serious doubt. Like I can take
- 40:20Speaker 4: a little satisfaction.
- 40:21Speaker 3: In that after being the laughing stock.
- 40:23Speaker 5: If they you're doing more damage to your organization than
- 40:25Speaker 5: the Bills.
- 40:26Speaker 3: It just would feel really good to just end on
- 40:28Speaker 3: a high note and just have good vibes going into
- 40:30Speaker 3: the off season. I don't know what that would do
- 40:32Speaker 3: for free agency, but I don't know.
- 40:34Speaker 4: I'm a free agent.
- 40:35Speaker 3: I'm not trying to come to a team that had
- 40:38Speaker 3: like no hope at the end of the year.
- 40:39Speaker 5: But that is win on a run of what happens
- 40:43Speaker 5: now for sure.
- 40:44Speaker 3: But if if they end on a higher note and
- 40:46Speaker 3: don't just like kind of roll over, you could probably
- 40:48Speaker 3: talk yourself into it a little more.
- 40:50Speaker 4: It's just going to be a very different team. I
- 40:51Speaker 4: think that's the hard part. It's it's hard to say
- 40:53Speaker 4: what this momentum will translate to because a lot of
- 40:56Speaker 4: the players that you're talking about.
- 40:57Speaker 1: They might not even be I get it. You know,
- 40:59Speaker 1: like if if you're in the Caleb Williams or Drake
- 41:04Speaker 1: May sweepstakes and free agents know that, it's like, oh, well,
- 41:08Speaker 1: they're gonna get one of these quarterbacks. You know, I'll
- 41:11Speaker 1: go to them. You know they'll be a better team.
- 41:13Speaker 1: But if you're out, then I just.
- 41:16Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 41:17Speaker 6: I'm always torn about it because in the moment, like
- 41:20Speaker 6: after they win the game in Denver, I wouldn't say
- 41:22Speaker 6: I was on cloud nine like Bailey Zappi, but maybe
- 41:25Speaker 6: like cloud three. You know, like you're like you're like
- 41:27Speaker 6: excited about it a little bit, and it's it's much
- 41:30Speaker 6: more fun to cover or win than a loss, and
- 41:32Speaker 6: like all that kind of stuff. But in the long run,
- 41:36Speaker 6: like you do have to recognize. But I'm with Deuce
- 41:38Speaker 6: and we talked about this on Catch twenty two, Like
- 41:40Speaker 6: the difference between two to four is like not this,
- 41:43Speaker 6: like let's like throw our hands up and cry right,
- 41:48Speaker 6: Like it's not that big of a deal. Now going
- 41:51Speaker 6: from two at one point to nine, it is a
- 41:54Speaker 6: different story. But you know, there's a lot of really
- 41:57Speaker 6: good players at the top of this draft that I
- 41:59Speaker 6: would be ecstatic with the Patriots getting.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Let's go to Spi and Fresno. What's up speak?
- 42:05Speaker 11: The wings discussion today really brought out Evans Inner.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Eric Yeah, a little bit, a little bit, just yeah,
- 42:14Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, it's a wing thread, it's a wing.
- 42:21Speaker 11: Yeah. There was no way to change his mind.
- 42:24Speaker 5: My mind still hasn't changed.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Nope, good luck to you.
- 42:32Speaker 11: Is that the question so your your backup quarter I
- 42:35Speaker 11: mean this is an oversimplification, maybe, but maybe you want
- 42:38Speaker 11: your backup quarterback to do kind of two things. Step
- 42:42Speaker 11: in and hopefully give you a chance when your starter
- 42:44Speaker 11: is down over of course of maybe a small shuts
- 42:47Speaker 11: of the season, like two or three games. And then
- 42:49Speaker 11: also compete well enough with your starter in the preseason,
- 42:56Speaker 11: and yeah, to to bring out the best in that guy.
- 43:00Speaker 11: And it's in the latter case that I question whether.
- 43:04Speaker 11: I mean, I guess in both cases, but really I'm
- 43:06Speaker 11: more concerned about the ladder, Like, do you think that
- 43:08Speaker 11: Bailey's appy is good enough to bring out the best
- 43:11Speaker 11: in whatever quarterback you draft?
- 43:13Speaker 5: Assume you do, I don't really understand is he gonna?
- 43:19Speaker 4: Is he gonna push a young guy enough to to
- 43:21Speaker 4: bring us out?
- 43:22Speaker 5: What you mean? Well, he thinks he's gonna. He is
- 43:25Speaker 5: competing for his starting job. So shouldn't that motivate the
- 43:28Speaker 5: starter if he's not the starter?
- 43:31Speaker 4: Like, he's not a fair fight.
- 43:32Speaker 5: I would be leary of the guy who is content
- 43:35Speaker 5: as the backup, Like you don't want that?
- 43:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't.
- 43:39Speaker 5: Think he's content as a backup. I think he thinks.
- 43:42Speaker 4: Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm saying, do we get that
- 43:45Speaker 4: out there in training camp? And it's like this guy's
- 43:47Speaker 4: just head and shoulders talented, like he might not know
- 43:50Speaker 4: the system yet or that, but it's just like it
- 43:52Speaker 4: doesn't really is he good enough to really, you know,
- 43:55Speaker 4: state his case or is it you know, is a
- 43:56Speaker 4: guy like Michael Pennock's gonna come in and it's going
- 43:58Speaker 4: to be obvious, kind of like it was with Matt oh.
- 44:00Speaker 5: I think it'll be obvious if they draft one of
- 44:02Speaker 5: those highly regarded quarterbacks, the difference in skill set. I
- 44:05Speaker 5: don't think mac Jones is all that skilled, and I
- 44:06Speaker 5: think he's got a better skill set.
- 44:08Speaker 4: But then but then that doesn't it seem like that
- 44:10Speaker 4: it would just be the rookie. Then it doesn't really
- 44:12Speaker 4: seem well, I think that the no, he wouldn't be
- 44:14Speaker 4: able to put up much of a.
- 44:15Speaker 5: But like, what backup quarterbacks around the league are the
- 44:18Speaker 5: guy that like, is good enough that he's putting fear
- 44:23Speaker 5: in the starter? Jake Browning, you know, Joe Burrow, Like seriously,
- 44:29Speaker 5: like I think that you want to like Zappi's profile
- 44:33Speaker 5: right now? To me, is is really good in that
- 44:36Speaker 5: regard because he has proven that he can step in
- 44:39Speaker 5: the offense runs they you know, they're able to continue
- 44:43Speaker 5: to compete just the same way they were now. You
- 44:46Speaker 5: could argue that there's not much difference between the starter
- 44:48Speaker 5: and the backup and that's why you're four and eleven
- 44:51Speaker 5: like that, That would be my argument, But I don't.
- 44:55Speaker 5: I don't think that there's like a lot of guys
- 44:57Speaker 5: like Cooper Rush is not keeping Dak Prescott up at night.
- 45:01Speaker 5: You know, he stepped in and played well when he's
- 45:03Speaker 5: gotten an opportunity.
- 45:04Speaker 6: I just feel like with Zappy, I know there's been
- 45:08Speaker 6: on your your show's Paul some some pushback about his
- 45:11Speaker 6: attitude and and how he's a little little arrogant, little
- 45:16Speaker 6: cocky and yeah, and I I actually think that he's
- 45:21Speaker 6: like the perfect backup quarterback because in a pinch, if
- 45:26Speaker 6: you have to start him a couple of games because
- 45:28Speaker 6: your guy started gets hurt like Mac Jones last year,
- 45:30Speaker 6: your starter goes down. He won them two games. Now,
- 45:33Speaker 6: do I think that he's gonna be able to carry
- 45:36Speaker 6: them to the Promised Land? No, but your ideal backup
- 45:40Speaker 6: quarterback is somebody that can come in for two to three.
- 45:44Speaker 5: I worry a little bit about his ad Elvis.
- 45:47Speaker 6: And just keep the ship afloat. I mean, but what
- 45:50Speaker 6: a like I feel like if you're a backup quarterback.
- 45:53Speaker 5: I don't understand you.
- 45:54Speaker 6: If you're a backup quarterback, don't you need to have
- 45:57Speaker 6: like a lot of self confidence because the organization's not
- 46:01Speaker 6: backing you right Like, you're not the you're not the
- 46:03Speaker 6: team's guide. The team's guy is Mac Jones. But in
- 46:06Speaker 6: order for you to be able to do what Zappy's
- 46:08Speaker 6: been able to do, you have to be comfortable in
- 46:11Speaker 6: your own skin and confident in yourself. And that has
- 46:14Speaker 6: to be manufactured because no one's going to tell you
- 46:16Speaker 6: that you're good like you're the backup quarterback.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I like it all right, Thanks, b appreciate
- 46:22Speaker 1: the call.
- 46:23Speaker 5: Appreciate you.
- 46:24Speaker 10: Uh.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Andrew in La writes in he's about the journalism thing,
- 46:27Speaker 1: he says, correct me if I'm wrong. A lot of
- 46:29Speaker 1: media members nowadays don't necessarily need a journalism degree. But
- 46:33Speaker 1: for those who went to school for journalism in the room,
- 46:36Speaker 1: how has that assisted and also hindered you in the
- 46:39Speaker 1: business now that it is more open to different types
- 46:41Speaker 1: of content creators.
- 46:44Speaker 6: I think that, you know, because I did go to
- 46:45Speaker 6: journalism school. But I think that the way that journalism
- 46:50Speaker 6: school is now.
- 46:52Speaker 1: It's just it's being taught differently.
- 46:54Speaker 6: Because it has to be right. So I don't even
- 46:56Speaker 6: know if it's like an apples to apples comparisite. Because
- 46:59Speaker 6: of that, Like I.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Tell people, like, you can't just write, Like, if you
- 47:03Speaker 1: want to get in the business, you have to, you know,
- 47:06Speaker 1: maybe do some video editing, be able to you know,
- 47:09Speaker 1: put up a podcast. You have to really know all
- 47:12Speaker 1: forms of the media. These days, the intable.
- 47:14Speaker 3: On camera, I can really only speak to you mass.
- 47:17Speaker 3: But that was such a big part of the curriculum.
- 47:19Speaker 3: We had sports broadcasting classes, sports writing, magazine writing, photo journalism.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Like I came out of college knowing completely the full
- 47:28Speaker 3: Adobe Creative Edit suite. Yeah, and it's just you have
- 47:31Speaker 3: to know yep.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Uh. Secondly, says Andrew, Give me Jade and Daniels in
- 47:36Speaker 1: the first round and his teammate Thomas Junior the wide
- 47:40Speaker 1: receiver in the second and I won't have Patriots depression anymore.
- 47:43Speaker 5: I don't know who Thomas Junior is.
- 47:46Speaker 4: It's Thomas's son.
- 47:48Speaker 5: I'd rather have Milik Neighbors. We're talking about Melik Neighbors,
- 47:51Speaker 5: but he ain't gonna be available in the second round. Yeah, No,
- 47:54Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Dan in Connecticut yesterday's show was gross, though he says,
- 47:59Speaker 1: I love it, Holy bad Take City from Deuce and
- 48:04Speaker 1: Alex about you. We want to give Bill a top
- 48:08Speaker 1: draft pick.
- 48:08Speaker 5: To take one that wanted Bill.
- 48:10Speaker 6: No, I said, I was afraid that he will.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Turn the corner.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Like I just I'm like, do you listen and like
- 48:18Speaker 4: you just make it up? You meant like I just
- 48:20Speaker 4: you state the case of like we talked about it,
- 48:23Speaker 4: like what are you writing right now? You said, like
- 48:24Speaker 4: you're gonna tell me that I go to the show,
- 48:27Speaker 4: pull it up, give me the time called the receipts.
- 48:29Speaker 4: Evan was the one who laid out how hard it's
- 48:31Speaker 4: going to be for Robert Craft to make that decision.
- 48:34Speaker 4: But I'm saying, but that's that's what the controversation was.
- 48:37Speaker 4: It wasn't me sitting here being like, well they went
- 48:39Speaker 4: in Denver, bring back Bill.
- 48:40Speaker 5: So you haven't waffled, no, like like none of us have.
- 48:44Speaker 3: I feel like just played Devil's advocate too.
- 48:47Speaker 4: But well, but I don't think everything that we said
- 48:50Speaker 4: yesterday was accurate. And if if he if he wants
- 48:52Speaker 4: to hear that we were making the case to bring
- 48:54Speaker 4: back Bill. Then fine, but whatever we say, you're only
- 48:57Speaker 4: going to hear that, like if we and God forbid,
- 48:59Speaker 4: we had some complimentary things to say about Bill yesterday, Paul,
- 49:01Speaker 4: and people were like tweeting at you, tweeting at you,
- 49:04Speaker 4: being like, oh my god, Paul, they're actually saying nice
- 49:06Speaker 4: things about Bill. Bill right now.
- 49:08Speaker 5: I did not get that. I didn't hear anything about
- 49:11Speaker 5: Bill on my I did get a lot of good tweets.
- 49:13Speaker 5: I did get a lot of tweets about the show,
- 49:14Speaker 5: but none of them about you guys, for or against Bill.
- 49:19Speaker 5: I didn't get any of that. We did. I just
- 49:21Speaker 5: said that I have.
- 49:24Speaker 6: I am fearful that it's one thing to say it,
- 49:27Speaker 6: and it's another thing to do it. And you can
- 49:29Speaker 6: sit here and say, you know that we're gonna move
- 49:33Speaker 6: on from Bill. I think it's a lot easier when
- 49:36Speaker 6: we get to January eighth to look him in the
- 49:39Speaker 6: eyes and say you're out, Like, I just don't think
- 49:41Speaker 6: that that's we're not giving enough credence to the fact
- 49:45Speaker 6: that he could be back, Like he could be back.
- 49:47Speaker 6: It might not be, you know, the the end, you know,
- 49:51Speaker 6: it might not.
- 49:52Speaker 4: It's and it's the easy thing to do is to
- 49:54Speaker 4: keep them. That's the easy thing for Robert Craft. And
- 49:56Speaker 4: that was the angle that we were playing that Robert
- 49:57Speaker 4: Craft is he's he's coming toward the end too. Does
- 50:00Speaker 4: he want to upset the apple cart and have to
- 50:02Speaker 4: deal with whole new people and hand the keys to
- 50:04Speaker 4: all this free agency money, all the draft picks to
- 50:06Speaker 4: somebody new. And that's that's the.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Point we're we're trying to make Yesterday, I wasn't saying
- 50:10Speaker 3: that because for their expectations. I feel like so many
- 50:18Speaker 3: people think that we fire Bill and we're back in
- 50:20Speaker 3: the promised Land, and it's like you might be signing up.
- 50:23Speaker 4: For a longer right, Well, you're back into the wilderness.
- 50:26Speaker 4: And that's fine. Every team has to do it at
- 50:27Speaker 4: some point. But I think the biggest point is just
- 50:30Speaker 4: that I wouldn't find it surprising to ev it's point
- 50:32Speaker 4: that Robert Kraft says, I don't. I'm just going to
- 50:35Speaker 4: ride it out with this guy. I'm going to buy
- 50:36Speaker 4: into what he said. I'm gonna let him have this
- 50:38Speaker 4: offseason with the resources that we have at his disposal.
- 50:41Speaker 4: I don't feel comfortable handing it to somebody new. I
- 50:44Speaker 4: can see him doing that. Do I think that that's
- 50:45Speaker 4: the right decision. No, But that's he's the one with
- 50:48Speaker 4: the power. It doesn't matter what I think.
- 50:50Speaker 5: The two. The couple of things that have sort of
- 50:52Speaker 5: annoyed me on this is I I said before when
- 50:56Speaker 5: we were talking about the tank no tank thing. You
- 50:58Speaker 5: think whatever way you want to think. And I think
- 51:00Speaker 5: it's kind of silly for people to try to dictate
- 51:03Speaker 5: how everybody should feel. So if you feel that Bill
- 51:06Speaker 5: should be back, I've not tried to talk. I mean,
- 51:08Speaker 5: I disagree, but I have you know, I'm not here
- 51:10Speaker 5: to tell you you're wrong. The only thing that I
- 51:13Speaker 5: would say is I don't understand. And there have been
- 51:17Speaker 5: some of There has been some of this, like they've
- 51:22Speaker 5: won two out of four games and suddenly this is
- 51:26Speaker 5: like a referendum. Is Bill saving his job? Like if
- 51:29Speaker 5: you thought coming out of Germany that Bill should be back,
- 51:34Speaker 5: then that's fine. If you thought coming out of Germany
- 51:36Speaker 5: that Bill should be gone, not would be he should
- 51:39Speaker 5: be gone. I don't understand what meaningless wins over these
- 51:42Speaker 5: teams have to do with anything, like because Marvin Mims
- 51:46Speaker 5: fumbled the ball into the end zone and you won
- 51:47Speaker 5: a game that hasn't happened all year, in any other
- 51:50Speaker 5: game they haven't gotten. I think that's their only defensive touchdown, correct,
- 51:54Speaker 5: yea of the whole season, right, you got it? So
- 51:58Speaker 5: instead of going three and twelve of your four and
- 52:00Speaker 5: eleven now because of that play, and now that's like
- 52:04Speaker 5: a referendum to keep Bill. That's the part I don't get.
- 52:07Speaker 5: If you want to keep Bill, I get it. He's
- 52:10Speaker 5: won six titles. I understand all the things that he's done.
- 52:13Speaker 5: I just don't understand that. I watched the Los Angeles
- 52:17Speaker 5: Chargers go out of their way so bad. They was
- 52:19Speaker 5: so sick and tired of a coach that they said,
- 52:23Speaker 5: it's not working. We got to do something really dramatic
- 52:25Speaker 5: to get rid of this guy. And then they got
- 52:27Speaker 5: They got rid of them. How they play the next week.
- 52:29Speaker 5: They played their asses off the next week and they
- 52:32Speaker 5: almost beat Buffalo, who is as hot as anybody in
- 52:35Speaker 5: the league right now. I watch the Raiders. They're playing
- 52:39Speaker 5: their asses off. Like teams play hard because there's a
- 52:42Speaker 5: lot of young guys in the league that don't know
- 52:44Speaker 5: they're going to be in the league next year, so
- 52:46Speaker 5: they have to try the guys on the field are trying.
- 52:49Speaker 5: I don't give Bill props for that. And by the way,
- 52:53Speaker 5: not everybody is on board, as we mentioned with the
- 52:56Speaker 5: practice report yesterday. Well, Trent Brown, where's jujubin the laugh
- 53:00Speaker 5: couple of weeks.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I don't know what his deal.
- 53:03Speaker 6: Juju goes out to Pittsburgh, has the best game he
- 53:06Speaker 6: has all season long, just so happens to be against
- 53:09Speaker 6: the team that drafted him, and then taps out.
- 53:12Speaker 5: The next two weeks.
- 53:13Speaker 1: They had a chance against Kansas City. But I don't know.
- 53:15Speaker 1: I don't know what his deal is.
- 53:16Speaker 4: I don't know his deal is either.
- 53:17Speaker 5: But no, maybe he did, but I I don't necessarily
- 53:26Speaker 5: like give extra points in the column because they're continuing
- 53:29Speaker 5: to play hard.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Like that's their job exactly, especially.
- 53:35Speaker 5: You know, and like you made a comment about Tavia's
- 53:38Speaker 5: like I could see when they came you said they
- 53:39Speaker 5: came back from Germany, and you seemed like there was
- 53:43Speaker 5: you know, and then all of a sudden they're like,
- 53:45Speaker 5: you know what, it's lost, so that the pressure is off.
- 53:48Speaker 5: We just got to go out there and play. And
- 53:50Speaker 5: everybody now takes on sort of what's in their best interests,
- 53:54Speaker 5: and I get and like it's in their best interest
- 53:57Speaker 5: to play.
- 53:58Speaker 6: Hard, playing for their lively are a lot of like
- 54:00Speaker 6: we got you still got to put good film out there.
- 54:03Speaker 6: Somebody's watching, but it doesn't.
- 54:04Speaker 5: I've spent all year about the Arizona Cardinals. They're playing
- 54:07Speaker 5: their asses off, but it got very good.
- 54:09Speaker 1: In your example is Paul with the Chargers and the Raiders.
- 54:13Speaker 1: They got rid of their coach and so they had this,
- 54:15Speaker 1: you know, interim coach, and they kept playing.
- 54:17Speaker 5: Hard because it's a professional.
- 54:19Speaker 1: But in this case, but in this case, I think
- 54:22Speaker 1: people are looking at it. It's like he hasn't lost
- 54:24Speaker 1: the locker room. You know, they're still you know, playing hard.
- 54:29Speaker 1: And you can tell, you know from the evidence that
- 54:32Speaker 1: we have the videos after wins that this team still
- 54:35Speaker 1: loves their coach.
- 54:36Speaker 5: Again, look at the whole video.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there's a couple of guys, but the.
- 54:42Speaker 5: Most like that happens. But it's the same thing all
- 54:45Speaker 5: over the league. But that most most of the guys
- 54:47Speaker 5: are playing hard, but they're plugged.
- 54:48Speaker 1: But on every team there's a couple of guys that
- 54:50Speaker 1: aren't exactly the situation but exactly, but why are we
- 54:53Speaker 1: making such a a lot of times when teams are
- 54:56Speaker 1: out of it, you know, minus a coaching change, guys
- 55:00Speaker 1: tune out a lot of times.
- 55:03Speaker 5: I don't see that. I really don't. I don't see
- 55:06Speaker 5: that as a as a general rule.
- 55:08Speaker 6: I just think it from Bill's perspective, like, regardless of
- 55:12Speaker 6: if guys still love their coach or buying. Like, my
- 55:15Speaker 6: issues with Bill are philosophical, Like it's nothing to deal
- 55:18Speaker 6: with with effort and all that kind of stuff.
- 55:21Speaker 5: That's why I said, if you think that Bill should stay,
- 55:24Speaker 5: that's that it's philosophical. I agree with the way Bill coaches.
- 55:29Speaker 5: I agree with the way Bill puts the team together.
- 55:31Speaker 5: Not because you know. I'll give you another example. Okay,
- 55:35Speaker 5: Ron Rivera is out, he's going. It's the least kept
- 55:39Speaker 5: secret in the league. Right Washington goes to the Jets
- 55:43Speaker 5: in a meaningless game and falls behind by a thousand points,
- 55:46Speaker 5: and they come back and take the lead. They've lost
- 55:49Speaker 5: six in a row, they've traded every good player they
- 55:51Speaker 5: have on the roster, but pride makes you continue to try.
- 55:56Speaker 5: It's not because Ron Rivera, he still has the ear
- 55:58Speaker 5: of the locker room. It's because the players go out
- 56:01Speaker 5: there and they play. They've changed quarterbacks, they put it
- 56:04Speaker 5: you know other guys in there's a professionalism involved that
- 56:08Speaker 5: I don't think you get bonus points, Like I don't
- 56:10Speaker 5: think that they're talking in Washington like did you see
- 56:13Speaker 5: how they came back from twenty seven down and took
- 56:15Speaker 5: the Like I don't think that they're talking like that
- 56:17Speaker 5: about Ron Rivera.
- 56:18Speaker 4: And I think it's frustrating for me just about the
- 56:19Speaker 4: emails that like we did the postgame show, I wrote
- 56:22Speaker 4: about the like everything we've said about that game, it's
- 56:24Speaker 4: never about like, wow, they play great. For Bill, it
- 56:26Speaker 4: was like this week they got the bounces, they had
- 56:28Speaker 4: some bad plays, they made the good ones, and that's
- 56:31Speaker 4: what it was about to me. So it doesn't say anything.
- 56:33Speaker 5: Bill's case to me is when greatest coach of all time,
- 56:37Speaker 5: six super Bowls, proven track record in a slump, needs
- 56:42Speaker 5: to draft better, but we know he can do it.
- 56:45Speaker 5: Not did you see the way that they found a
- 56:48Speaker 5: way to beat the Denver Broncos in Denver on Christmas
- 56:50Speaker 5: even a meaningless game, Like I just don't really understand that,
- 56:54Speaker 5: especially in some people. And I don't think there's a
- 56:56Speaker 5: lot of that to be to be fair, Fred, you'll
- 56:58Speaker 5: make fun of me. It istle bit of a strong man.
- 57:00Speaker 5: I haven't heard a lot of that, but I have
- 57:02Speaker 5: heard some of it.
- 57:03Speaker 6: I do think when you went in that locker room
- 57:04Speaker 6: after the game, though, like there there was that what
- 57:07Speaker 6: Fred's talking about, that there's a lot of love in
- 57:09Speaker 6: that locker.
- 57:10Speaker 5: Room for Bill, and there should be. They should be right,
- 57:13Speaker 5: and he's the greatest coach He's ever done it right.
- 57:15Speaker 6: But I think that it comes down to is like,
- 57:17Speaker 6: if I'm the Crafts, like he needs to make a really,
- 57:20Speaker 6: really convincing pitch of how they are going to fix
- 57:23Speaker 6: the offensive side of the football. And it wasn't as
- 57:26Speaker 6: simple as just putting Bill O'Brien as offensive coordinator.
- 57:29Speaker 5: And you know, I felt for that cheese too. So
- 57:31Speaker 5: do you think it'll be as simple as bringing Josh
- 57:33Speaker 5: back with him? I don't know.
- 57:35Speaker 6: But like the point is is that, you know, there
- 57:37Speaker 6: needs to be a real philosophical difference of approach on
- 57:42Speaker 6: how they approach adding talent on the offensive side of
- 57:45Speaker 6: the ball. It's not just coaching, it's adding talent on
- 57:47Speaker 6: the offensive side of the ball. Because you know, back
- 57:50Speaker 6: to kind of like the Zappie question. At the end
- 57:52Speaker 6: of the day, you know they've had a couple of
- 57:55Speaker 6: plays down the field where guys made plays on the ball,
- 57:57Speaker 6: like DeVante Parker catches a pass on Patrick Surtain and
- 58:00Speaker 6: to Mario Douglas catches the big bomb, you know, on
- 58:03Speaker 6: the fifty.
- 58:04Speaker 5: Fifty balls were like ninety five percent Patriots.
- 58:06Speaker 6: Right, they caught him against the Chargers, they didn't catch
- 58:09Speaker 6: them right.
- 58:09Speaker 5: And that was just the difference in this game.
- 58:11Speaker 6: And that's how this offense has lived in the last
- 58:14Speaker 6: couple of years or these you know, chuck It and
- 58:16Speaker 6: Duckett fifty to fifty balls.
- 58:17Speaker 5: And the other team's fifty to fifty guy played nine
- 58:19Speaker 5: plays right and he got knocked out of the game,
- 58:22Speaker 5: and he just you can't live like that in the NFL.
- 58:24Speaker 6: Like, the only guy that I watch on the Patriots
- 58:26Speaker 6: offense or I'm like that guy is the modern NFL
- 58:30Speaker 6: is Pop Like he's the only one that moves at
- 58:33Speaker 6: a different speed than everybody else on this offense. And
- 58:36Speaker 6: he's like, that's why I said the breath of fresh air.
- 58:39Speaker 4: Yeah, a parent from like day one. But one of
- 58:40Speaker 4: the other things we talked about yesterday when we were,
- 58:42Speaker 4: you know, saying how much we all want Bill Belichick back,
- 58:45Speaker 4: was what if they what if they just got rid
- 58:47Speaker 4: of Bill. Like what if Bill O'Brian went to college
- 58:49Speaker 4: and they're going to redo the offensive staff and bring
- 58:51Speaker 4: in not Josh, a new offensive coordinator with a whole
- 58:55Speaker 4: new philosophy, you know.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Like that?
- 58:56Speaker 4: Like that interesting think This was the conversation was about,
- 58:59Speaker 4: like what would the pitch be, you know, and and
- 59:00Speaker 4: and if he does come back, what would the changes
- 59:03Speaker 4: have to be?
- 59:03Speaker 5: You know, I'd be interested in hearing that. I'm not
- 59:07Speaker 5: necessarily wanting him to implement it, but I'd be interested
- 59:10Speaker 5: in hearing it.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Chris and Colfax, California. I'm currently working through the stages
- 59:14Speaker 1: of grief over last week's when I was excited for
- 59:17Speaker 1: the idea of getting a top quarterback to build around.
- 59:19Speaker 1: But that idea is all but gone now it's not
- 59:21Speaker 1: I've come to accept that we are going to draft
- 59:24Speaker 1: a tackle, bring back the exact same coaching staff, and
- 59:27Speaker 1: have either Zappi or a washed up vet like Russell
- 59:30Speaker 1: Wilson or the like. If we do draft a quarterback,
- 59:33Speaker 1: it is once again going to be the fifth best
- 59:35Speaker 1: and we will likely be looking once again. Uh, well,
- 59:40Speaker 1: I don't know what he meant by that. I've accepted
- 59:41Speaker 1: purgatory so they have.
- 59:43Speaker 6: The fourth pick in the draft right now, but somehow
- 59:46Speaker 6: they're going to get the fifth best quarterback in the draft,
- 59:51Speaker 6: well the third, not the fifth.
- 59:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean, I look, I started to dabble
- 59:56Speaker 4: in this draft stuff, like, not everybody thinks that it's
- 59:58Speaker 4: Caleb Williams, Drake May, and Marvin Harrison at one three
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: locked from here to until the until round one goes.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Not everybody thinks that that's gonna happen. There's gonna be
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: trades and if you really love a guy, you can
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: still trade up. So that like, this is the stuff
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: I don't get. This is the stuff where you like
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: so much changes with the draft over these next four
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: months and guys rise and you know, for right reasons
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: and wrong reasons. But to think that we as we
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: sit here right now, that that that that like because basically,
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: if you don't get Drake May, it's over. Patriots are dead.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: Like that's what That's what I.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: I don't know what the guy is. I'm not I
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: haven't you know, done the deep dive. But the difference is, yeah,
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: you can get one of those guys, you can get
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: the one you want, but now you have to give
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: something up to get it or as you didn't have
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: to necessarily before.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: But if you want to day and then what does
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: it matter?
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: Well, then that's fine if you want Jayden Daniels, Yeah,
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: I just but that's like to me, I would be like,
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: unlike a lot of other people, I don't want to
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: settle for the one who's left.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: Right. I know you felt the way about Drake May
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: like he's making a sound then what does it matter
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: what you have to if you truly feel that, and yeah,
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: it sucks that we have to invest at little bit more,
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: but if you truly think he's the man, it.
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: Matters that I could have just taken him with my
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: pick and now I have to give something up to take.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: But if different, that's a bit different.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: What does it matter though? I mean, if you get
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: the guy, you mean you said you have to give
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: up resources for it, right, but what an extra like
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: second rounder next year? Like that's what the that's the
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: cost and probably a first rounder now yeah.
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: Because if it's up for sale then but but if
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: it's the guy, I just feel like this happens every year,
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: and I think it's just happening a little bit sooner
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: for us because of where the Patriots are are currently.
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: We're not usually in this spot. We watched the other
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: team have to do.
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: But the media catches up with the league in the
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: next couple of months. Like by the time the combine
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: rolls around, the media board is more reflective of what
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: the actual board is in the NFL circles. So we're
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: catching up to it. And I think what we're finding
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: out is that Jayden Daniels is a lot closer to
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: Drake May than I think people originally might have thought,
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: like a month ago. And part of that's because he
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: won the Heisman Trophy, right and like you go out
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: and you have the season that he had, he's going
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: to move up the board. But I think that Caleb
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: Williams is still one to one and he's in a
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: tier of his own. But I would put Drake May
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: and Jaden Daniels in the same tier. I think those
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: two guys are pretty much talent wise, are equal, and
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: I think that that's where I'm at with the whole thing.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: We'll read an email from Mike and Southie, then we'll
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: take a break. He says, It's as simple as this.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Your record is a result of your play. Your play
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: should not dictate desired draft position. If we don't get
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: a top three pick, all it means is we weren't
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: one of the three worst teams in the league. We
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: aren't making mistakes by winning. The results of each game
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: are independent of the draft.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: I would agree with that.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: All right, let's take a break. Got a lot more
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: emails calls. We've got to do picks, so we'll be
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: right back after this.

- 1:03:34Speaker 5: Bailey z Appy spoke with the media yesterday.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: Let's hear what he had to say.
- 1:03:40Speaker 13: Really, that's a really hard one.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: I gotta be careful.
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: So what you start preparing here for whether you can see.
- 1:03:55Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean they're well coached, you know, from top
- 1:03:57Speaker 14: to bottom, from the D line to linebackers to you know,
- 1:03:59Speaker 14: this secondary group. I mean they're well coached. They understand
- 1:04:02Speaker 14: that system. They've been in that system for you know,
- 1:04:04Speaker 14: a lot of those guys have been there for a
- 1:04:05Speaker 14: while now.
- 1:04:06Speaker 13: And then you look at you know, some of.
- 1:04:08Speaker 14: Those guys like Ployer and Michael Hide, those guys have
- 1:04:11Speaker 14: been playing for eleven years. So a lot of those
- 1:04:13Speaker 14: guys have a lot of experience and a lot of
- 1:04:16Speaker 14: you know, games under their belts where they understand how
- 1:04:19Speaker 14: to disguise, how not to disguise and kind of hide
- 1:04:21Speaker 14: some of the things that they're doing. So it's gonna
- 1:04:23Speaker 14: be you know, a tough challenge for us to you know,
- 1:04:26Speaker 14: see what they're doing versuss and just you know, execute
- 1:04:29Speaker 14: what we're trying to.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Do, to ride the moments what you guys were able
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: to do in Denver kind of with that kind of
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: thing that you learn about yourself and the team those
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: you go about.
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: That week here.
- 1:04:41Speaker 14: Yeah, of course you would, you know, love to ride
- 1:04:43Speaker 14: that momentum.
- 1:04:44Speaker 13: I mean, we're playing a great Bills team. They've been
- 1:04:46Speaker 13: rolling the last three weeks.
- 1:04:47Speaker 14: So it's really gonna come down to us executing what
- 1:04:50Speaker 14: we're trying to do as the offense, and then some
- 1:04:53Speaker 14: of the things that you know, looking back versus the Broncos,
- 1:04:55Speaker 14: there's a few you know mysteries that I had, you know,
- 1:04:59Speaker 14: I had, you know, Pharaoh on one route that I
- 1:05:01Speaker 14: missed him on and just little things like that and
- 1:05:04Speaker 14: that could affect the game. So just trying to dial
- 1:05:07Speaker 14: that in and get ready for you know, practice today
- 1:05:10Speaker 14: and tomorrow Friday and try to fix some of those things.
- 1:05:12Speaker 15: Really, I know you didn't you didn't play in the
- 1:05:14Speaker 15: matchup against the Bills, earlier this season. But what did
- 1:05:16Speaker 15: you take from the sideline about what they do well
- 1:05:18Speaker 15: on defense and what can you bring into the Sunday.
- 1:05:21Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean they play hard. They're front four of
- 1:05:24Speaker 14: those guys. They're coming after you. So it's gonna be
- 1:05:27Speaker 14: up to me to you know, try to see the
- 1:05:29Speaker 14: you know, defense pre and post snap.
- 1:05:30Speaker 13: And try to get the ball out.
- 1:05:32Speaker 14: You know, like coach always says, I can't make any
- 1:05:35Speaker 14: yards until I get rid of the ball. So it's
- 1:05:37Speaker 14: gonna be up to me to kind of, you know,
- 1:05:39Speaker 14: see what they're trying to do. It's gonna be hard
- 1:05:41Speaker 14: because those guys played really well. They played for a
- 1:05:43Speaker 14: long time, so you know, to be a lot of
- 1:05:46Speaker 14: film watching and trying to get an understanding of those guys.
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: Were talking to coach O'Brien yesterday and he said that
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: you worked with Edon Rosstein on pocket movement and stuff
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: like that a lot, and just wondering like what kind
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: of goes into that routine for you.
- 1:05:58Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean we you usually do that stuff every
- 1:06:01Speaker 14: day before practice. We get out there fifteen twenty minutes before,
- 1:06:06Speaker 14: have the bags and you know, he kind of walks
- 1:06:08Speaker 14: out there and tells us what drills he wants us
- 1:06:10Speaker 14: to do, and but we're really pretty routine about it.
- 1:06:13Speaker 14: We do it every day, and it kind of just
- 1:06:16Speaker 14: the more you do it, the more it becomes like
- 1:06:17Speaker 14: second nature to you. So when you get on the field,
- 1:06:19Speaker 14: you're not really worried about or thinking about. It kind
- 1:06:21Speaker 14: of just comes natural, and that's what you want. You
- 1:06:24Speaker 14: don't want to be back there worried about the rush.
- 1:06:25Speaker 14: You want to be able to have your eyes downfield.
- 1:06:28Speaker 14: So that's really helped a lot. Doing that stuff before practice.
- 1:06:31Speaker 8: Really would sat.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: Thinks that could probe thinks this sous.
- 1:06:37Speaker 14: When did I start, you know, I'd say in training camp,
- 1:06:41Speaker 14: I felt like I started to get, you know, a
- 1:06:44Speaker 14: good sense of you know, the system. I mean it's
- 1:06:45Speaker 14: not I mean the verbiage and some of the things
- 1:06:48Speaker 14: are of course different than what we did last year.
- 1:06:49Speaker 13: But of course, you know, the more.
- 1:06:52Speaker 14: Weeks that you know, I was in the game planning
- 1:06:54Speaker 14: and the games and now playing in the games, of course,
- 1:06:57Speaker 14: getting comfortable with him and how he likes to call plays.
- 1:06:59Speaker 13: It's it's helped a lot.
- 1:07:00Speaker 14: And the more practices and of course the more games
- 1:07:03Speaker 14: I play with him calling it and game planning with him,
- 1:07:06Speaker 14: and kind of getting a sense of, you know, how
- 1:07:08Speaker 14: he likes to do things and attack things. I think
- 1:07:10Speaker 14: both of us are only going to get more more comfortable,
- 1:07:12Speaker 14: you know, with each other.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: How different is the system with Bill compared to what
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: you would feel operated in the past.
- 1:07:20Speaker 14: In college, Well, I played, I was in the air raid,
- 1:07:22Speaker 14: so it's it's totally opposite. I think we ran the
- 1:07:25Speaker 14: ball like ten times a game, not through about fifty
- 1:07:29Speaker 14: So that's one of the biggest differences. And then you know,
- 1:07:32Speaker 14: then it was, you know, just the different concepts. Of course,
- 1:07:36Speaker 14: everybody kind of runs the same you know, routes, but
- 1:07:40Speaker 14: just a different way of putting two concepts together and
- 1:07:42Speaker 14: how you read it. Of course that's different. And then
- 1:07:44Speaker 14: the play calling is a little bit different, a lot
- 1:07:46Speaker 14: longer plays than you know, we'd have like a ninety
- 1:07:49Speaker 14: five in college. I mean that was a play and
- 1:07:52Speaker 14: you don't have that no more in NFL. So I
- 1:07:54Speaker 14: think that's another thing that's different.
- 1:07:55Speaker 13: But I enjoy it. It's fun.
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: So yeah, speaks the atmosphere, like for you in Buffalo,
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: from the bus ride in where they're kind of getting
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: on you guys, to being out there on the field.
- 1:08:09Speaker 13: That's be exciting.
- 1:08:11Speaker 14: You know this, These two teams, these two organizations have
- 1:08:14Speaker 14: been going at it for a long time, and I
- 1:08:15Speaker 14: don't think there's any I don't think either one like
- 1:08:19Speaker 14: each other very well. So it's gonna be fun to
- 1:08:21Speaker 14: get out there and play against that great team and
- 1:08:23Speaker 14: that great organization. So it's gonna be fun. And you know,
- 1:08:26Speaker 14: that's what football is all about. I mean, they get
- 1:08:30Speaker 14: after it, they love football, they love their bills. So
- 1:08:34Speaker 14: I mean it's it's gonna be loud. It's gonna come
- 1:08:36Speaker 14: down to communication for us. So that's gonna be a
- 1:08:38Speaker 14: big part and a big emphasis for us throughout this week.
- 1:08:42Speaker 15: Bit off great here, but going up on a few.
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: Years, curious if you have a resident or resident ship.
- 1:08:53Speaker 14: To be honest, we haven't thought about it. Uh yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:58Speaker 14: get back to me after we're talking about Yeah, it
- 1:09:05Speaker 14: was in the fourth quarter. I can't think of a
- 1:09:10Speaker 14: right hash. I don't remember what your line. I think
- 1:09:12Speaker 14: it was like the second or third last drive. But
- 1:09:15Speaker 14: it was just you know, something for me that I missed.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: You feel like.
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: I read because it's like a spot concept, right yeah.
- 1:09:26Speaker 14: I honestly, the it wasn't anything besides you know me,
- 1:09:30Speaker 14: I was kind of rushing out. Was in the mentality of, like,
- 1:09:32Speaker 14: I didn't want to sit back there too long because
- 1:09:34Speaker 14: I know those guys are going to be, you know.
- 1:09:35Speaker 13: Either blitzing or you know, Russian hard to try to
- 1:09:38Speaker 13: get a sack.
- 1:09:39Speaker 14: So for me, it was just kind of I sped
- 1:09:41Speaker 14: up my process too fast, and if I don't do that,
- 1:09:44Speaker 14: maybe I hit him for a big game.
- 1:09:45Speaker 13: And right then and there the game's over. But I didn't,
- 1:09:48Speaker 13: So that's something that I need to learn from.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Let's sit out to you about working with Pharaoh Brown.
- 1:09:54Speaker 13: I mean that's a he's a great guy. He's tough,
- 1:09:57Speaker 13: he's physical.
- 1:09:59Speaker 14: You could want to feel his presence, you know when
- 1:10:01Speaker 14: he's on the football field because he's always finishing blocks.
- 1:10:04Speaker 13: He plays to the echo of the whistle. He has
- 1:10:06Speaker 13: great hands.
- 1:10:07Speaker 14: I think he he actually is very talented in the
- 1:10:10Speaker 14: you know, passing game as much as he is in
- 1:10:12Speaker 14: the run game too. So to be able to use
- 1:10:14Speaker 14: him like we have on some of those teams, like
- 1:10:16Speaker 14: he caught this past game and things like that, is
- 1:10:19Speaker 14: you know, it's a game that he can do.
- 1:10:20Speaker 13: So it's nice to have a guy like that in
- 1:10:22Speaker 13: the tight end room force.
- 1:10:24Speaker 16: Failure environments Pittsburgh, Denver, Prime Time. Just how do you
- 1:10:30Speaker 16: feel like that has helped you as a player and
- 1:10:34Speaker 16: changed you as a player.
- 1:10:36Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean that's you know, it's fun. That's exactly
- 1:10:39Speaker 14: what football is all about. You want to go in
- 1:10:40Speaker 14: those environments. You want to go and play some tough
- 1:10:42Speaker 14: teams and you know, winning of course makes it, you know,
- 1:10:45Speaker 14: a lot better. But you know this is of course,
- 1:10:48Speaker 14: this is gonna be uh, you know, another great environment
- 1:10:51Speaker 14: to play in. Like I said, you know, those these
- 1:10:53Speaker 14: two teams we don't you know, and of course don't
- 1:10:55Speaker 14: like each other. It's a great rivalry. So just got
- 1:10:58Speaker 14: to go in there and you know, play our brand football.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: Really DeVante Parker, that's allowed you guys to have such
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: a great connection so far.
- 1:11:04Speaker 14: And going back to La Yeah, I mean, Davante is
- 1:11:07Speaker 14: one of those guys that you know, I fully believe
- 1:11:10Speaker 14: in when you know those fifty to fifty balls kind
- 1:11:12Speaker 14: of how we connected versus the Broncos to where I
- 1:11:15Speaker 14: have the confidence in him to you know, really put
- 1:11:17Speaker 14: it wherever I want and that he's gonna go get it.
- 1:11:19Speaker 14: It's either gonna be incomplete or it's gonna be a
- 1:11:20Speaker 14: big game for us. So he's been doing that his
- 1:11:24Speaker 14: whole career. So to be able to see that again,
- 1:11:26Speaker 14: you know, versus Broncos is a beautiful sight to see
- 1:11:28Speaker 14: him go up there and make those catches.
- 1:11:30Speaker 13: So, you know, if we ever get that.
- 1:11:32Speaker 14: Matchup again, I don't know if we will after the
- 1:11:35Speaker 14: game we had, but if we do, hopefully we'll take
- 1:11:37Speaker 14: advantage of it, and you know, I'll throw another one
- 1:11:39Speaker 14: up there too. Shot.
- 1:11:44Speaker 11: How have you continue to adjusts?
- 1:11:50Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean the guys, you know, we have a
- 1:11:52Speaker 14: We've done a great job of the next man up mentality.
- 1:11:55Speaker 13: A lot of guys have stepped up. They've done a
- 1:11:56Speaker 13: phenomenal job.
- 1:11:58Speaker 14: They've came in, they've understood the game playing, they've ran
- 1:12:00Speaker 14: great routes, they've caught the ball, they made plays. That's
- 1:12:03Speaker 14: really the only thing you can ask for, you know,
- 1:12:04Speaker 14: I think we have great depth in all of our
- 1:12:07Speaker 14: running back rooms, tied end rooms, receiver rooms, if it's
- 1:12:10Speaker 14: in the course to o line room. We have great
- 1:12:12Speaker 14: depth in every single guy that you know has had
- 1:12:14Speaker 14: the opportunity to play has taken advantage of that opportunity.
- 1:12:18Speaker 15: When you make a misread on the field, what's your
- 1:12:20Speaker 15: process for learning what you need to learn who that
- 1:12:23Speaker 15: miss without clouding your judgment on the next drive or
- 1:12:27Speaker 15: slowing down your process too much for.
- 1:12:29Speaker 14: You overthinking, Yeah, I think you know it started off
- 1:12:32Speaker 14: you go, you go off the sideline, you have your
- 1:12:34Speaker 14: live pads, and that's when you kind of figure out like, Okay,
- 1:12:36Speaker 14: maybe you know I read it wrong, Maybe I you know,
- 1:12:39Speaker 14: I stayed at the corner too long instead of seeing
- 1:12:41Speaker 14: what the safety was doing, or I did vice versa.
- 1:12:43Speaker 13: I mean, it really depends on how you're reading a
- 1:12:45Speaker 13: certain play.
- 1:12:47Speaker 14: But mainly like that, just kind of seeing, you know,
- 1:12:50Speaker 14: trying to remember where you started with your eyes and
- 1:12:53Speaker 14: maybe fixing it or tweaking it a little bit on
- 1:12:55Speaker 14: how they're playing, you know, because some defenses, of course,
- 1:12:58Speaker 14: they make adjustment. So the first time you run a
- 1:13:00Speaker 14: on sept in the first half, they might run a
- 1:13:02Speaker 14: different coverage than they do in the second half, so
- 1:13:04Speaker 14: you just kind of just have to adjust to it.
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: And now great moments in.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: History.
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: It's a totally different food. I'm talking about boneless buffalo
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: wings as opposed to bone in buffalo wings, right, But
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: isn't what's in the chicken finger the same as the
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: boneless buffalo wings? Necessarily it does nice to say it
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: does not taste.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: You can put anything in the boneless stuff.
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: And I'm not even I'm not even anti because of that.
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: Although he's right, Fred's absolutely right, it's not necessarily the same.
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: The bone I think gives it more flavor. Yeah, I
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: think it's a better you ever have a bone, put
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: a non bone bone, absolutely bone, get that bone in boner, boner.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: That's another great moment from.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: All right back here and Patriots on filter at eight
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: five five Pats five hundred.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: How great is it that we actually had the you
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: already had it, Yeah, the whole the whole well, locking
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: with different characters, Megan Megan over there.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we.
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: Recycle here.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: So Paul on your sir holiday fill in gigs.
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: I heard a side piece?
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Have you what I heard?
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: I have a side piece?
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Have you had the favorite Christmas movie discussion?
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: No, we didn't do any of that.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: That's like every station the last week, that's all they know.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: We I'm talking national show.
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: We spent about fifteen minutes talking about the Celtics in
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: three hours and forty five minutes talking about Bill Belichick's future.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: So it kind of it's drink care the Bill stuff
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: is he's getting a little tiresome.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I have to admit, Marty and Reno, I don't have
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: an issue with other Patriots fans wanting a great draft
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: pick for next season. But snark On saying your best
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Jeff Foxworthy voice, I don't know what he sounds like.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: If you're rooting against the Patriots to kick a game
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: winning field goal, you might just be a Broncos fan.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Snark Off, did you.
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: Guys talk at all about the Russell Wilson thing that
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: happened yesterday?
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: It happened during the show.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it would be more about them trying to
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: renegotiate his contract, and I guess I read today. I
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: think the NFLPA was involved initially and nothing ever came
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: of it, and now this is kind of all coming out.
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: I was just I was a little surprised that it
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: became so public. There's ways to do that without making
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: a public You could just say, like, you know, we
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: he played an absolutely, dreadfully bad game the other night,
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: and I know it's probably one of the better games
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: he's played all year, because I think he's been terrible.
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: But you could make an argument that we need to
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: make a change, like I didn't think they necessarily had
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: to get so public.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: I think they had to get it out, get out
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: in front of it, because it wasn't going to look
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: good no matter what for them. So they just had
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: to get out in front of it and let it
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: and take the hits. And what is it now that
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: they're just trying to get out of his money right
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: that they like said they don't want.
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: If he gets hurt in March, if yeah, they're going
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: to cut him. They they're not gonna be able to
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: get out from under the money. If he got hurt
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: in the last two games. It guarantees more money.
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: Oh oh bye bye.
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: Yeah, because if he if he fails a physical at
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: some point before the start of the league year or something,
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: it guarantees another.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Whole thirty four million or something like that.
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: That's so risky, but it's amazing. It's amazing how you
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: signed these contracts, right, they're stuck with him, Yeah until
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: you just cut him. Yeah, and you know, life goes on.
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: It's just I remember when the Bucks when they signed
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: him and and and Josh was going to the Raiders
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: and they got DeVante Adams and just oh my gosh,
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: the AFC.
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: West I thought the AC West, but I thought the
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: AFC West was going to be loaded, and it turned
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: out to be just the Chargers and Broncos. Yeah, you
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: know last year the other two teams stunk.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go to the phone. Mike's and Washington State?
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: What's up?
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Oh L's and what Wisconsin? What's up? L L duh.
- 1:17:12Speaker 11: I like to be on hold because I can tell
- 1:17:14Speaker 11: that Fred is just about to get hardied.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:17:19Speaker 10: I have?
- 1:17:20Speaker 11: I have three things. I'll make it quick. There are
- 1:17:22Speaker 11: no buys. I know, we got a hurry. The first
- 1:17:26Speaker 11: thing is to Evan. If there's one thing I believe
- 1:17:31Speaker 11: in this team, it's that they can get the fifth
- 1:17:34Speaker 11: best quarterback at the fourth pick.
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: Two.
- 1:17:39Speaker 17: I I kind of wanted to call in and just
- 1:17:41Speaker 17: address the whole tanking thing. The reason I've been rooting
- 1:17:47Speaker 17: for the tank.
- 1:17:48Speaker 11: Is because I think there's going to be a whole
- 1:17:50Speaker 11: new regime in here next year. And if that's the case,
- 1:17:54Speaker 11: I want them to have the best possible starting point
- 1:17:57Speaker 11: to sort of execute their vision in on what they
- 1:18:01Speaker 11: want the team to look like, because some players that
- 1:18:04Speaker 11: we might think are good maybe don't fit what they want,
- 1:18:07Speaker 11: and so there's going to be a lot of change
- 1:18:09Speaker 11: if there's a new regime. Now, if you're telling me
- 1:18:11Speaker 11: that Bill Belichick is.
- 1:18:12Speaker 17: Back, I don't love it, But I'm more okay with
- 1:18:15Speaker 17: these wins and pushing the picks down a little bit
- 1:18:18Speaker 17: because sort of that where he wants to build from
- 1:18:23Speaker 17: is already there, if that makes sense. And then the
- 1:18:27Speaker 17: third point, just to bat at everyone who wants to tackle.
- 1:18:32Speaker 17: I know oline is important, but I think that if
- 1:18:37Speaker 17: you get a tackle early in the draft, like I'm
- 1:18:40Speaker 17: talking top five, top ten tackle based on how this
- 1:18:43Speaker 17: team looks right now, that's the only position that can
- 1:18:47Speaker 17: work out and you get a great player and still
- 1:18:49Speaker 17: be disappointed in the pick when you see other players
- 1:18:52Speaker 17: making place.
- 1:18:54Speaker 11: I'll answer it off the line, thanks guys.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: All right, So.
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: Yeah, the tack part of it is I understand that
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: because it's hard to when you need so many things
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: to say, let's get the tackle first, you know, and
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: that the the Joe Thomas example is the one I
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: use all the time, you know, like or even you
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: can knock it out of the park. Yeah, and it doesn't.
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: And that's what worries me a little bit about Marvin Harrison,
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: Like if you don't have anybody around him. How much
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: does a great wide receiver impact your team, right.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: We've seen that. I mean Calvin Johnson.
- 1:19:30Speaker 5: Uh, like they had to get Stafford before he was really,
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: you know, able to do anything.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: I mean they just they need a lot. It's I
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: don't know. I'm excited to see how it starts to
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: all kind of like Evan said, how it all flushes
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: out because all of a sudden, you you know, guys
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: you aren't expecting are now like, I don't know, this
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: guy might be better than this guy. And I mean
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: everything you think you know in December, I just it
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: changes so quickly.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Tyler in Providence writes in I have a seemingly hot
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: take as a Patriots fan. I want to see us
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: win these next two games to close out the season.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Unless not mistaken, the Bills can't back into a playoff
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: spot with a loss this week, so we could contribute
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: to them potentially missing the playoffs. And you always want
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: to see the Patriots beat the Jets no matter what
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: the scenario. If this really is Bill's last season with
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: the team, it would be great to see him end
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: it with a three game winning streak beating the Broncos
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: in Denver, the defending East champs, and the Jets draft
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: position be Damn, that's tomorrow's problem.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's there.
- 1:20:25Speaker 14: It is.
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: It's pretty crazy to think that they I mean eleven
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: like Black Monday's eleven days away. You know, like all
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: these things are going to start to happen very very soon,
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: and it's going to change. Then the conversation, thank god,
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: because I don't I think I could do this for
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: the next three months.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I agree, Uh, Mike in Connecticut. I always love the shows,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: but I think two of my favorite things that have
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: happened a fair amount this year is when Mike says
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I don't know Jim like Romo, and whenever other teams
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: are talked about. I think it's become hysterical when when
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Evan says, I know this isn't enter team here, unfiltered
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: love all you guys have done during the terrible season,
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: keep it up and happy, I don't know Jim.
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a classic class what they want ahead.
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: It's like if you're gonna go see Earth winning Fire
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: and they didn't play, you know your reason.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: You know, thank you, thank you people calling in. I
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: better get to them quick before they hang up. Oh yeah,
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: because you know their time is more precious than ours. Anyway,
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: Sean's and Vancouver, what's up.
- 1:21:24Speaker 18: Sean heyd Hey everybody, I don't know how many of
- 1:21:29Speaker 18: you watched the Holiday Bowl last night, but you have
- 1:21:33Speaker 18: a first time quarterback, Milan Moss throwing six touchdowns. Does
- 1:21:37Speaker 18: that say anything at all about Caleb Williams.
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a system quarterback. I'm just kidding. I did
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: think I was wondering if we were if people were
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: going to throw that out here, But now I don't
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: know if somebody made the comparison the answers, no, no,
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: maybe he's a good player and then he's gonna stick around, right,
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: But everybody's talking about I think it was like twenty
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: twenty Madden. This was like the setup and my son
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: played this and you're literally like the setup. You get
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: to like be a player, but the setup is like
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: your thrust into a championship game. You're like a backup
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: quarterback and you know they they you know, it's all
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: like the cut scenes and everything, and and then you
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: end up playing great and then you get or maybe not,
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: but then you get drafted and that it kind of everything.
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: Yeah, the Bowl games are full of teams with guys
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: in the portal, out of the portal not playing. How
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: did Drake Mace be projected?
- 1:22:20Speaker 14: Like?
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: But it doesn't like to me, it doesn't say anything
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: because you don't have any idea who's playing hard, who's not,
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: who's protecting himself, who's in the portal, whose coaches new like?
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: USC has good players. Yeah, I mean, you can't just
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: say Caleb Williams is a one man show. He's not.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: USC's got a lot of talent.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Thanks Sean, appreciate the call. Let's go to Dennis in
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: East Boston. What's up, Dennis?
- 1:22:49Speaker 9: Hey, how's it going?
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Guys?
- 1:22:50Speaker 9: All right, I didn't I haven't really listened today. I
- 1:22:56Speaker 9: usually listened as the podcast, but I at the end
- 1:22:58Speaker 9: of the show yesterday, I gotta say, I've always liked you,
- 1:23:02Speaker 9: no problems, but I like you even more now because you,
- 1:23:05Speaker 9: you know, lately been very pro Bill or at least
- 1:23:08Speaker 9: you know, relatives maybe some of the other guys, uh
- 1:23:10Speaker 9: where it sort of appreciation, right. But the other thing
- 1:23:16Speaker 9: I noticed kind of at the end of the show
- 1:23:17Speaker 9: yesterday that I liked was you kind of start saying, look,
- 1:23:22Speaker 9: it doesn't matter who who was the cause of this.
- 1:23:24Speaker 9: It doesn't matter if you know a cat did it
- 1:23:28Speaker 9: or whatever. I forget your exact analogy, but basically, they
- 1:23:30Speaker 9: won six super Bowls. They were in nine in this era.
- 1:23:33Speaker 9: And you were saying how you have so many memories
- 1:23:36Speaker 9: from the time and how enjoyable it was for you,
- 1:23:38Speaker 9: and I was just saying, wow, this echo is my
- 1:23:40Speaker 9: exact sentiment. I love Bill, But the idea of who
- 1:23:45Speaker 9: was more important, Brady or Bill, it's just so what
- 1:23:48Speaker 9: at this point we had so much I mean, you
- 1:23:51Speaker 9: look at all the four professional sports League's thirty ish
- 1:23:53Speaker 9: teams whatever, one hundred and twenty teams. You could be
- 1:23:56Speaker 9: at any of these other markets a fan of any
- 1:23:58Speaker 9: other team. Nothing would have come to what we got
- 1:24:00Speaker 9: to see as Pats fans for the last two decades.
- 1:24:03Speaker 9: And it's just it doesn't really matter who was the cause,
- 1:24:06Speaker 9: because we have all these great memories. We have Kansas
- 1:24:09Speaker 9: City and the AFC Championship. You know, we have Super
- 1:24:12Speaker 9: Bowl forty nine, we have the first three out of four,
- 1:24:14Speaker 9: we have twenty eight to three, all these amazing things
- 1:24:17Speaker 9: that you were saying, you remember where you were this
- 1:24:19Speaker 9: this you know fact, you remember this setting who was there,
- 1:24:22Speaker 9: and I think of the same things I have that
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: with my father, even if we weren't there, we're talking
- 1:24:26Speaker 9: about it on the phone, and it just I really
- 1:24:28Speaker 9: appreciated you, you know, bringing that up, because that's exactly
- 1:24:31Speaker 9: how I feel as a fan and a listener. And
- 1:24:34Speaker 9: it to me, it doesn't matter who was responsible because
- 1:24:37Speaker 9: what you said is true.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks Dan, I's appreciate the cause that's why we
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: have to now.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: Well I mean, I mean he laid it out, but
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: that was I mean, just like at the end, it
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: doesn't really matter like to me who got it. I
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: what I remember is the fun of watching it and
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: watching it unfolded, and now we talk about how do
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: we get back there? Yeah, hopefully someday.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Brad Brady in Kansas City rights And if the Patriots
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: end up with Joe All it might be good for
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: building up the team from the trenches, but in my opinion,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: this would be bad for the franchise. No one is
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: buying a Joe Alt jersey or waking up Sunday morning
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: saying to themselves, man, I can't wait to see Joe
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Alt today. Even if the guy ends up being an
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: All Pro left tackle. The fans need a guy to
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: root for and cheer on. It's hard to do that
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: with a shiny new left tackles.
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: That's a worthwhile point.
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: I mean, but the team is, they need talent, they
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: need marketability, they need you know, things that put butts
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: in seats of training camp in these games.
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I am not as high on. I mean, everything
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: you said is true. You're absolutely right, but you got
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: that's got to be part of it. But you got
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: to pick the guy you think is the best player,
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: not the guy you think is the sexiest player. Now,
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: I as you know, I'm sexy. I want the sexiest player.
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: I mean, let's face it, you don't just look like this.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: I mean, come on.
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: So, I mean I understand the need for a playmaker
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: and like my Joe Thomas theory, but that that shouldn't
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: be because of marketing and you know, Jersey sales and
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: stuff like that. Yeah, he's right, and you're right, like
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: Joe Walt's not gonna move the needle in terms of
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: but you know.
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: To your point, Joe traffic could couldn't enable the situation
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: that the quarterback is able to become that player.
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: Right, if you're able to get like let's just say,
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: for argument's sake, that the Patriots become one of those outliers.
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: You know, the Russell Wilson's, the Dak Prescott's, the Brock Purties,
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: these you know, Kirk Cousins, these Day three you know,
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: late day two, Day three quarterbacks that turn out to
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: be really good. There's a handful of them. There's not many,
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: but there are out there are some. Maybe the Patriots
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: become one of those. Maybe they get JJ McCarthy in
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: the third round and he turns out to be Yeah,
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: your your next Tom Brady machine. Now it's pretty good
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: that you have Joealt, you know, protecting his blind side.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: Now, it's it's totally reasonable. That's I mean, that's these
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: are the debates we're gonna have it going into.
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: This that's I mean, I understand that's a big risk.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: My second favorite player and Patriot's history is John Hannah.
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: It just is because he was just so good at
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: his craft.
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: It's just because you're cerebral.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: No, I just I just love I actually watched and
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: crack my top fifty. You know, I say I've said
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: it before in this show. I like when the Cowboys
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: are playing. I love watching Tyron Smith, like the way
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: he watched that I do, the way he just manhandles
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: a guy, like like he gets on him in his
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: first hit and that's it.
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: It's over speaking like manhandling. Oh yeah, Paul, did anybody
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: Over the past week, they've run it a lot, the
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: thirty for thirty on Reggie White, Oh no, minister Max,
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: Oh my god. They have a montage of the like
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: the step under, get the guy off balance, boom, and
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: he just throws guys like tackles, big tackles with one arm,
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: and it's just unbelievable that the clip, it's like a
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: thirty second clip of one after another, and there are
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: all these huge offensive linemen. I don't know if I
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: would if I ever, I was too young to focus
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: on John and Chris Carter by.
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: The highlights though, when you see Ohannah of oh my god,
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: oh yeah, just getting out in front of it, mad
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: dog looking at it like do that.
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: But on the offensive side, I mean great, I mean,
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: just a great offensive lineman. I'm not saying that he's
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: overrated or anything. It's just like you know, I mean,
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: it's it's.
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: Like every game you're watching him and being like you know,
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: but it's like when you see the highlights and it's
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: all compiled of his best stuff, You're like, oh.
- 1:28:24Speaker 5: My god, this Mike Haynes, Stanley Mugany, you know, like
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: I'll watch those guys so over.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: John Chris in New Hampshire. Uh. Yesterday, the old Bill
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: versus Tom debates sparked up and a question formed in
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: my mind. What teams won a Super Bowl with one
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: so much talent that they won with the coaching staff
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: not mattering that much, or even despite their.
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: Coach nineteen ninety Dallas Cowboys with Switzer.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's a good one. And then two was
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: so coached up that they want to spite the team's
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: natural talent.
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: Two thousand and one New England Patriots.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Yeah, they had a lot of talent on that team,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: not yet on defense, not not yet like they became
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: said natural talent.
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't. I think that was one of the
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: most amazing That to me would be the top of
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: my resume if I was Bill Belichick looking at Oh yeah,
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: my job. That job that he did that year was amazing.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they were, I mean, I know what
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: you're saying, though, Fred, that they I mean Eventually those
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: guys became people who are now in the Patriots Hall
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: of Fame. But at the time, did you know and
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: the Hall Hall of Fame that Mike Frable was going
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: to be that guy?
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: Yeah? All right, anyway, what Evan's not back yet? Right?
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Should I just wait?
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: We could try to wait a little bit.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we could gotta go all the way out to
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: the bubble.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: So we go.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: Oh, I'm glad I didn't say that because I was
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: thinking about it yesterday when I was driving in and
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: I heard that the practice was moved inside. I'm gonna
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: pull it, deuce, and I'm glad I didn't.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: We were talking about how the branding still up but
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: it's technically not it anymore, but they covered it up
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: when I was driving in.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the waste well, what is it? The waiste, bubble,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: waste management, waste management, waste innovations, waste innovation. Yeah, Johnny
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: rights in. People that claim those who want to tank
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: aren't real fans.
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: In waste management don't when we're in the middle of
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: a conversation.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: I thought I had closed that conversation. The waste Innovations,
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: bubble field House.
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: Well, hopefully they can innovate some of the waste on
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: the Patriots and make it into good players.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Johnny writes in people that claim those who want to
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: tank aren't real fans are short sighted and not willing
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: to admit when the team they love needs drafts.
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: Want to thank Anthony for getting a whole war started,
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: Patriots Nations Civil War.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: I think either one, Like I said, whatever.
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: You want to feel, don't other people think of you
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: however you.
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: Feel you feel, like I personally, like, I'm kind of
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: looking looking forward to this highest draft pick that you
- 1:31:04Speaker 5: can get, because I've never really had that, Like they
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: picked sixth in two thousand and one, Like it's been
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: a long time since they've had big time, like like
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: our draft party, Like how much better it's going to be?
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: Short? Uh? Did you were you watching the draft when
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: they took too but so oh of course? Really of
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: course just because of that or did you usually watch
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: the draft or just because the Patriots are got no?
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: I when I was younger than that, I used to
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: watch the draft. Matter of fact, I skipped school wants
- 1:31:36Speaker 5: to watch it. Pretended I was sick, quote unquote not
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: feeling well. There was eleven in me. I guess I
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: was just gonna say, I'm like, you skipped those and
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: then yeah that that draft, Now that was because of
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: the number one pick. I didn't watch the draft regularly.
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: It's going to be so as an adult, so different.
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: I mean it's I mean, I guess they pick Max
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: so that was him fifteenth, right, Like that wasn't And
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: I was exciting too, but I mean I didn't like it,
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: but it was exciting. But I mean, just right off
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: the bat, how quickly things are probably going to happen,
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: assuming you know they're in the top five six picks.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Ian from the UK Rights in do you think Bill
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: Belichick's biggest mistake since Brady was twenty twenty? If he
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: did want to reset, he should have rated the season
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: out with Stidham at quarterback and maybe we would have
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: had a top five pick. It was the COVID season,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: so we would have had no fans in the stadium
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: booing and enough reason to justify the unique situation twenty
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: twenty was.
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: I've kind of thought about that, but like at the
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: same time, it's it's like, well, you might ended up
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: with Trey Lance, you know, like like I don't know this.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: See I looked at him would have won as many games.
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: I looked at it differently. I looked at it as
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: you missed an opportunity to evaluate Jared stid It. Yeah,
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: like maybe you wouldn't have you know, let's just say
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: for arguments sake, I don't know if Jared Stidham is
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: any good to find out this week, Okay, but even
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: then you're not going, you know, like he played last year,
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: the last couple of games. He played a great game
- 1:32:57Speaker 5: against San Francisco when nobody, you know, was in him
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: as a starter. But what if he played the last
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: four games and he played really well and you said,
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: you know what, if we get a quarterback next year,
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: we get a quarterback, but if we don't, we can
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: start him. Yeah, you know, and maybe he did what
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: mac Jones.
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: Did, then maybe you give him.
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: So then maybe at fifteen instead of mac Jones, you
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: pick somebody else. Yeah, yeah, you know, Like that's to me,
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: the lost opportunity. Not that I think Jared Stidham is
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: a franchise quarterback, because I don't. I don't think he's
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: a franchise quarterback. But I don't understand what the mentality,
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: what the reasoning was to not let him play a
- 1:33:34Speaker 5: game like it would have been the same as if
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: you just played out this.
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: Year, Right, what do we get out of playing?
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: He continuing to drag drag mac Jones out there this
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: year instead of there was.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: A whole thing going on with him.
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: Don't you call about his admiration for Bill Belichick publicly?
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: That's all it was.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: So the want to and the injury and all that. Remember,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: I think that's garbage. I think that's all the wrong reasons.
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: That's another point why I'm moving on. But that's, you know,
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: one of the thing. Because he went he went to
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: a wedding. That was his lack of want to. He
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: went to a wedding in the offseason, and I thought
- 1:34:07Speaker 5: that was a sign that he was he was soft.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: Ye will Wright sin to follow up on an earlier
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: point about Tavi being happier and playing more freely and
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: yesterday's point about role players starting to show development. I
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: read this as a bad look for Belichick and the
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: need for more of a player's coach. Bill's coaching style
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: is military like. Now that there is less at stake,
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: we are starting to see the team playing looser and faster.
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: And now that You've had a couple of guys, you know,
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: get nicked up in miss games, because that's what happens
- 1:34:36Speaker 5: when you're four and eleven and all of a sudden,
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: Mac Wilson, I'm hearing is playing in a different role
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: that's maybe more conducive. Is that an indictment of coaching?
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: Like you brought him in two years ago, you know,
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: you know, to fill a role and you didn't put
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: him in it.
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: I mean, I'd throw Inphony Jennings into that team.
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: Anthony Jennings is high on the list of that where
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: he you know, we we.
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: Played him on off the ball and he you know,
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: was really I mean, and it's like, well, why didn't
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: you realize he was going to be best at what
- 1:35:02Speaker 4: he did at Alabama? And then the same thing with
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: Mac Wilson now and they said, you know, look we
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: there were things last year we didn't feel like I
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: mean they, I mean Gerard yesterday admitted like we you know,
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: maybe didn't have him in the best place.
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: I think, and again, role players not stars.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: Role well, and I think Bill's done that a lot.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But you often find
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: like defensive guys, particularly upfront, being told to do a
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: specific thing, and they're not giving a lot of latitude
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: to do a lot of maybe right now, Like honestly,
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: like you know, I think they just the custom. I think, yeah,
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: like you know, maybe as good as Vince Wilfork was,
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: maybe he was pigeonholed a little bit. You know, like
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: when he came out of college, they called him baby
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: Sap I remember, you know, but he really wasn't a
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: sack guy.
- 1:35:51Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: He was more of a you know, two gap type
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: nose tackles, you know, get off like yeah, but they
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: didn't want him doing that, you know, on defense. I
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: think Bill's system kind of keeps guys, you know, from
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: like getting the numbers and in that type. Like Seymour
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: is a good example.
- 1:36:12Speaker 5: Like he was great, but different things.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: But like Seymour, if he had started out and the Raiders,
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: he'd probably have been a big sack guy.
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: But they didn't make Seymour play like out of position.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: No, no, but they didn't.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: But the style, the system that they used was not
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: conducive to numbers to numbers right right. But I think
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: with like what Deuce is talking about, like with like
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: Jennings is a little different, like but he's kind of out.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: Of and I think position Belichick kind of learned that
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: from Parcels a little bit, because Parcels thing was always
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: players need to know who they are, you know, and
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: try not to do things that they can't do. And
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: sometimes players are like, no, no, I can do more,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: and then the coach disagrees. You know, Evan's back, and
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: then as you're tight, and then used.
- 1:36:59Speaker 5: To be.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: All right, Evan, what do you got?
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: I want Mike to talk on this for a second.
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: Yeah, you're I know it hurts your feelings that it's
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: not your song anymore, and I just like, let it out, man,
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: let it out.
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: It's all right. Let's just say I'm having some high
- 1:37:20Speaker 4: level conversations with certain music producer that shall be remain
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: anonymous at this point. But there might be a due
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: song in the works.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Oh you want, you want your song.
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: I don't know what it will be about or what
- 1:37:31Speaker 5: it will be for, but but there might be looking
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: forward to this I am.
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: Maybe that'll let me sing on it.
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:37:36Speaker 5: I won't forget you Belichick, don't ask me to sing. Oh.
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: Oh, you just might have sparked something. He's writing down notes.
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: I need my recorder, Star Kiss.
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: Speaking, We'll forget. I had to find out you can.
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: You can still do it, man, you still got it.
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: I liked I like to sing.
- 1:38:02Speaker 6: You're gonna You're gonna sing it on on June twelfth, Right,
- 1:38:05Speaker 6: that's what I heard.
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: I heard they're gonna come out. I'm gonna play with
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: bon Jovie. I am hoping that we can make that happen.
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: I've got to talk to other people putting it together,
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: but hopefully on the stage.
- 1:38:12Speaker 5: All right, we got to hurt it, so.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: Uh out.
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: At Patriots practice today, we have four absences, Juju Smith
- 1:38:21Speaker 6: Schuster with the ankle, Jabriel Pepper's hamstring, Jayalen Mill's concussion,
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: and we do not know about Kai Shan Booty but.
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: He was not there.
- 1:38:31Speaker 13: Unknown.
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: So Trent Brown was Trent Brown.
- 1:38:35Speaker 6: Trent Brown returned and I kidch you not literally hacked
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: up along, like right in front of me, so that
- 1:38:43Speaker 6: illness like maybe it was legit, all right, So I'm sorry, Trent,
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: or maybe he just doesn't like you, I mean, probably
- 1:38:52Speaker 6: after the things I've said about him. But yeah, Trent
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: Brown was back based off of what we saw, though
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: I would still expect to see the Darian Lowe at
- 1:39:00Speaker 6: left tackle if not like a rotation again, but yeah,
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: those were the absences. Your boy Gabriel was present but
- 1:39:08Speaker 6: not participating.
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: I like that, so maybe maybe were Yeah.
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: I was wondering if maybe tourist hamstring, you know, like
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: then it's like a big deal.
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: Yeah, So okay, that's the report weather, you want to
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: get to it.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: He kind of mild.
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: Indoors, indoors.
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: They were indoors, indoors, second day in a row.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: What was the temp indoors?
- 1:39:28Speaker 6: Well, they had the garage doors open open. They're trying
- 1:39:33Speaker 6: to I think, you know, trying just because it's short
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: practice the rain.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: It's raining out there.
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: I thought that stopped rain when but they are trying
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: to get it.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: Never rains or snows.
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: And I was just gonna say it, Well, they know
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: they're you know, they're getting the aired all right, all right?
- 1:39:54Speaker 6: Not pads, no pads, No, No another light day with
- 1:39:58Speaker 6: no pads yesterday either.
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Okay, all right, there you go. All right, Paul, are
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: you equipped to tell us what happened last week after?
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: I'll fill in all right, allow me please?
- 1:40:07Speaker 14: Now?
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: Yeah, so, um, Christmas Day killed everybody. Everybody was doing
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: reasonably well and everybody lost all of the games. So
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: four way tie Mike, Alex, Paul, Fred ten and six,
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: Evan nine and seven. Uh. With the spread, it's only
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: one guy at the top for that Paul ten and six,
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: follow by Fred Alex eight and eight, Mike Evan seven
- 1:40:37Speaker 5: and nine. So Alex, you're breathing down my neck. No,
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: I can't kept. I can't make up any grounds. Really
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: both went ten and six. Well, yeah, I'm not making
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: up any ground. One week the week after one eighty
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: eight for Alex one forty nine and ninety one for
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: Paul one forty five, ninety five for Mike, and Evan
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: and Fred are tied at one forty three and ninety seven.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: I like that.
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: Can't finish in the basement. This is just a blowout.
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: When it comes to a scroll, Paul one twenty five,
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: one o four and eleven pressive the only other one
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: above five hundred, congrats Alex one fifteen one fourteen one
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: eleven making.
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: Money barely ten ten games behind.
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: It's actually probably losing money with the straight up as
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: the one, the big, the big, let's see.
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: After Alex, it is Evan and Fred again one ten, one,
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: nineteen and eleven. Do we just make the same picks
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: for it and Mike one all four, one twenty five
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: in eleven. So it's the opposite.
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: You make it seem so easy, Paul. You's just you're
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: just a natural reading these things. I don't know where
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: you get it from.
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: Somehow, you just take the record that's better than the
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: others and read that one first.
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: Interesting, It's a different kind of mentality.
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: I got to get it, all right.
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: So we got the Thursday night game, Freddy. We got
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: the New York Jets of New Jersey against the red
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: hot Cleveland Browns. In Cleveland Browns by seven and a half.
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: I'm gonna take I'll take Cleveland seven and a half points.
- 1:42:17Speaker 4: I'm gonna lay them. Yeah, bolts go.
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: I don't know what that means. I mean he's taking Cleveland, Yes,
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: But if you lay the points, that means you're taking
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: the favorite. If you're taking the points, that means you're
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: taking the underdog.
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: Wow, look at me. I need something about gambling there.
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: You I blame fred. I'll forget that Cleveland Cleveland.
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: I want to ask fred to explain the fig to me,
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: but we'll.
- 1:42:40Speaker 6: Say that I'm gonna go Cleveland one tend to make
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: a hundred Cleveland Cleveland as well, and I can't believe
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: the Jets already said Robert Solo is coming.
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: Back to Cleveland Cleveland again. Yeah. I will definitely take Cleveland. However,
- 1:42:52Speaker 5: I will take the points the Browns. I love Joe Flacco,
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: as you know. I just like this carriage ride has
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: to he throws picks and bunches still right, like it's three.
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: He had a drew game last week three andred yards,
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: three touchdowns, three picks, So like at some point like
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: the touchdowns aren't going to come in the fourth quarter.
- 1:43:14Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take the points.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd me too, Browns both ways. All right, So
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: you're back, Yeah, I'm back. I just had to send
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: an email Saturday night, Saturday, and this is at eight
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: fifteen on ESPN, ABC, ESPN two.
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: We only have one game on Saturday, ESPN.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: Plus and ESPN ESPN Deportes covering the full gamut. Uh,
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: the eleven and four Lions are at the ten and five.
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: Cowboys Dallas by six.
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: Oh boy, this is a tough one to pick. I
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: see these teams kind of similarly. Is there only one
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: game on I'm gonna take Dallas to win, but I'm
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: gonna take the points for Detroit.
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: Zoki.
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna do the same thing.
- 1:43:58Speaker 6: I like the Cowboys Bowl both ways.
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: They're at home. They played different at home. Yeah, I
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: like the Cowboys. I also like Dallas both ways. Coming
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: off a two game losing streak, and I don't know
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: if you heard, but the Lions clinched the division last week.
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: I really didn't get much play. I think the Lions
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: are probably still celebrating that. So I will take the
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: Cowboys both ways.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Lions in the upset. Oh so, folks,
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: this is your upset now.
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: That is a good, solid upset lock of the week. Ready, Yeah,
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: good job, go for the Lions. Good job. You're already
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: out of contention anyway, so good job.
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: Now we go to Sunday at one, the eleven and
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: four Dolphins are at the twelve and three Ravens.
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: Another good game, Ravens by three and a half.
- 1:44:46Speaker 6: AFC Championship Game preview Yeah.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: Possibly, I know.
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: I think two was a little banged up too. I'm
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: gonna take Baltimore at home.
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: I'll lay the points me too.
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: I'm loving Baltimore lately.
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm going Baltimore as well. That defense as good
- 1:44:59Speaker 6: as a little Jackson is that they're cooking something up
- 1:45:02Speaker 6: on that defense.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: I mean, how do they stop brock Perty.
- 1:45:05Speaker 6: Right, That's what I'm saying. I'm a Hall of Fame quarterback.
- 1:45:07Speaker 6: I don't know how you stopped it.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I would agree, very impressive performance to hold that
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: kind of a quarterback in check. I will take the Ravens,
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: but I will take the hook. I will take Miami
- 1:45:18Speaker 5: to lose by a field goal. I think Baltimore also,
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: you know, coming across the country after a huge win,
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: maybe a little bit of a letdown.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: I'm going to take the Ravens. I'm thinking that John
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Harbaugh might be the best coach right now in the NFL.
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, So this would be if we're right and
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: Baltimore wins. This game likely sets up a huge game
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: for the last game with Buffalo and Miami for the
- 1:45:45Speaker 5: division in the number two seed.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: So I'm going with the Ravens. One o'clock CBS seven
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: and eight. Falcons are at the six and nine.
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: Bears Chicago by three. This is nobody watched in between
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: two teams that I do not believe I've picked correctly
- 1:46:03Speaker 5: all season.
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: I'm just gonna go to Chicago at home, alay the points.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: I'll take the Bears to win all take the Falcons
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: to cover.
- 1:46:15Speaker 6: I'll go Chicago Chicago. Just picked the home team.
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna take Chicago Chicago too. But man, I
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: just I cannot pick the Falcons for the Bears.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: I'm tempted to take Yeah, I know, I'm tempted to
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: take the Falcons both ways, but I'll split the difference Bears,
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: but I'll take the points. Sunday at one, the five
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: and ten Titans are at the eight and seven Texans.
- 1:46:39Speaker 5: Houston by four and a half. Looks like CJ. Stroud
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: is tracking to play clear to go.
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: Uh, that's good news. I'm gonna take Houston all lay
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: the points.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Houston onlay the points as well.
- 1:46:56Speaker 6: Houston Houston. I think the Titans are bad.
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: What excuse me?
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Five wins doesn't do it for you?
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: No bad team? Yeah, but they do generally keeps.
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: They hang around.
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: That was supposed to be secast the try. He hasn't
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: lost the loom. I I will take Houston both ways.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Titans to cover. So there you go.
- 1:47:23Speaker 5: That's for Verbel. One's for ones for Mike.
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: Sunday at one, seven and eight Raiders or at the
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: eight and seven.
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: Colts Colts by three and a half, Colds by three
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: and a half.
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: I'm gonna go the upset on this one. I'm gonna
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: take the Raiders.
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: I'm gonna take the Colts to win. I'm gonna take
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: the Raiders to cover.
- 1:47:49Speaker 6: I'm gonna take the Colts both ways. I just think
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: the Raiders had their one, their one minute in the sun.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: They're playing pretty.
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: Good day Jack Jones. Zach Jones was not good in
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: that game, but what are you talking about? Patrick Mahomes
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: completed like five passes, all of them at Jack Jones.
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: What about that one?
- 1:48:07Speaker 5: Yeah, there was one. I'm gonna take the Raiders both ways.
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: I think that was a big loss for the Colts
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: last week and kind of reality check for them.
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Colts both ways to beat
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: the Raiders.
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: Interesting game though.
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: Sunday one, the two and thirteen Panthers are at the
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: eight and seven Jaguars.
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: Jags by six and a half, and I have absolutely
- 1:48:31Speaker 5: no idea who's playing for the Jags.
- 1:48:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean yeah, it seems like like Trevor Lawrence
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: got a new injury every week.
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: I do not think they've done him any favors by
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: trotting him out there every week with one injury after another.
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: I'll take Jacksonville at home, but I'm gonna take the
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: points for Carolina.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: I think they keep it closeweet.
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: Six and a half.
- 1:48:51Speaker 6: Apparently Trevor Lawrence is practicing, but it's definitely a decision,
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: you know, up in the air whether or not he's
- 1:48:58Speaker 6: going to play. I am gonna go with the Jaguars.
- 1:49:02Speaker 6: I am going to take the points though.
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: For the Panthers, yeah, me too. You know, I think
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: Jacksonville has a lot of issues with health and they're
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: just not playing very well when they're in the midst
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: of an epic collapse.
- 1:49:16Speaker 4: They were eight and three, I know, yeah, what they said.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: I'll take Jaguars, but I'll take the points. Sunday at
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: one eight and seven Rams dangerous team these days. At
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: the five and ten Giants.
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: The Rams by five and a half. Taylor, Yes, Taylor's
- 1:49:35Speaker 5: playing good luck.
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: I'm gonna take Rams. I'll take the I'll play the points.
- 1:49:39Speaker 14: MS.
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: I'm also taking the Rams. I like the Rams. I
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: think the Rams are a little frisky.
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: It's paulst team.
- 1:49:45Speaker 6: You can't like them if they get into the playoffs
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: in the NFC.
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: A little frisky despite the quarterback at Detroit.
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: Good because they're they're my team for two very you
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: know basic reason Stafford and the destructed the absolute destruction
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: of cap jail as being a thing.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: I thought you could say pooking the cool.
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: But I will take the Rams. But five and a
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: half at the medal at the Metal Longs, I will
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: take those points the travel game.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: Yeah, Rams giants, I'll take the points.
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: To who you are you picking the Rams to win?
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: I said, Rams giants, Okay, that's the's who's playing in
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: the game. So I didn't know who you were picking
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: in the game.
- 1:50:25Speaker 4: Both you guys are like a comedy team.
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: Mothers of them Yeah, mothers died yeh, yesterday, I missed it. Yeah,
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: shut up, you don't know them.
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: Yeah, we'll talk about later.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: They had nothing to do with football. Sunday at one,
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: the three and twelve Cardinals are at the eleven and
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: four Eagles.
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: Eagles by eleven.
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: That goes up to eleven. I'm gonna take the Eagles Askret,
- 1:50:53Speaker 4: I'm gonna lay them. I'll lay eleven. Philly, Philly, Billy Dilly.
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: Yeah, like Philly both. They usually don't like spreads this big,
- 1:51:01Speaker 6: but I think the Cardinals have been been spiraling.
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna take Philly, but I will take the eleven.
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: I didn't like what I saw in Philadelphia on Christmas.
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with Paul. I'm gonna take Philly, but I
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: think the Cardinals would be frisky in this game. One o'clock.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: Still a lot of what a lot of one o'clock?
- 1:51:18Speaker 14: Game?
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: Seven and eight Saints are at the eight and seven Buccaneers.
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: The Bucks by two and a half.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: Oh wow, really, let Baker bake?
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: Why what do you have?
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: I like that? No, I just that was that seemed
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: like a small spread to me. I'm gonna take Tampa
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: and I'll just those little two and a half firs.
- 1:51:38Speaker 6: I'm going Bucks both ways. That's a low spread for them.
- 1:51:41Speaker 6: No respect for Baker.
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: I know there's like a one one game difference between
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: these two teams. Okay, but Baker's cooking. Oh okay, then
- 1:51:48Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Tampa twice.
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: Bake. Baker's baking. Paul's just being no.
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: I'm taking the Bucks both. I think it's a regular
- 1:51:54Speaker 5: spread though, I mean eight and seven against seven and
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: eight division watching.
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: You're not watching how they playing. Letch not hearing Buccaneers
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: both ways Sunday at one eleven and four forty nine
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: Ers at the four and eleven Commanders.
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: Uh, San Francisco by twelve and a half. Oh, that's it.
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: I thought that might be a good Lord Kyle Shanahan
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: returns to the place where him and a bunch of
- 1:52:19Speaker 4: people did good jobs. I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: San Francisco.
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: No one gives you that kind of analysis.
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: I'm trying to be quick here, sugar, that's a tough one. Screwt.
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: I'm gonna take. I'm gonna lay to the Actually know what,
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: I'm gonna take the points.
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: For Kobe Brissette.
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: Great coaching staff in Washington there.
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: I wish Jacobe well, but Niners win, Niners points, get
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: right game.
- 1:52:45Speaker 6: I do love Jake Brisket a lot, but I am
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: going to take the Niners both ways. I think they
- 1:52:51Speaker 6: really take out last week out.
- 1:52:53Speaker 5: On the Yeah, I agree, I have no problems laying
- 1:52:55Speaker 5: the twelve and a half.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: I mean as long as the forty nine Ers are
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: playing an NFC team, take the forty nine. That's a
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: dig on the NFC. Now we skip over. Now we
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: skip over the Patriots. At one o'clock and we go
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: to four oh five. The eight and seven Steelers are
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: at the eight and seven Seahawks.
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: Seattle by three and a half.
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: I'll take Seattle at home. A lay the points, small.
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: Spread, you think, so you take the points, lay the points.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: That means he's not taking the pointy.
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: What I mean?
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: Seattle Seattle Ley?
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I like this.
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: I like Seattle both ways. A little little spider me
- 1:53:34Speaker 6: me meme. Game here, two teams.
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: I will take Seattle. I will take the hook three
- 1:53:41Speaker 5: and a half Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh loses by a field goal.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: Now I'm going to take Seattle both ways. Uh four five.
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: The five and ten Chargers are at the seven and
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: eight Broncos. Boy, this should be off the.
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: Still stick versus Jared Stidham.
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: Yeah, good game, good game.
- 1:53:58Speaker 5: Denver by three and a half.
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: Good lord. I'm just I'm going to take Denver at home.
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: I'm not really, That's really the only reason I can
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: think of to pick him.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: Do Sean Payton lost the locker room.
- 1:54:10Speaker 5: Maybe the only thing is ten minutes left tie the game.
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: But I don't think Wilson is beloved in the locker no,
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:54:21Speaker 5: I think Wilson is one of the more I think
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: if he was.
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: I think if he was, it would be bad for Peyton.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: But I don't think people care about Russell.
- 1:54:29Speaker 5: Wilson because he's been a pretty selfish player in his career.
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: I mean, even Shawn is on the record saying he
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: can't even reach out to him directly.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: I'm taking the Broncos rallying.
- 1:54:46Speaker 6: I'm going to take the Chargers easton stick. They were,
- 1:54:49Speaker 6: they were competitive against Buffalo last week, and I think
- 1:54:52Speaker 6: this Broncos team is done. Sean Payton though, like I overrated, overrated.
- 1:54:57Speaker 6: Everybody comes at it and says, oh, Bill is like
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: a product of Brady, Sean Payton is a product.
- 1:55:03Speaker 5: Of Drew Brees. And I think that we can in
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: the supermot like unbelievable, So both overrated that in your mind?
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: Bill and Chompayton, No, just Champaigon. Oh okay, that's right,
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: that's what I thought.
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: Bill Champagon coach Sean Payton's pants off.
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I will take the Broncos.
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: That's a tough one because I do give the Charges
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: credit for last week's effort. But I'm going to take
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: the Broncos. I think show a little bit of an
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: edge there in the coaching. Uh four twenty five, eight
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: and seven Bengals at the nine and six.
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: Chiefs, Minnesota by one and a half Minnesota. Sorry, I skipped.
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: I skipped down to Green Bay right.
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:55:42Speaker 5: Since Kansas City by seven seven, I apologize.
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: I will take Kansas City, but I'm going to give
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: Kansas City those points Kansas City, and I'll take Cincinnati points.
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: Cincinnati points. Okay, see he didn't say that one right now? Sorry,
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: that was a fredism.
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm I'm going to give it to the Chiefs
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: both ways.
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: Are you? Wow?
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: Oh my god, Jesus Taylor Swift may not like that
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: even I every once in a while let one go.
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: That was inappropriate?
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: Is that?
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: Hr online?
- 1:56:21Speaker 6: I'm gonna take the Chiefs, but I'm gonna take the
- 1:56:23Speaker 6: points for the Bengals.
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: I I just don't like what I'm seeing for Kansas City.
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: I don't like it at all. Me too, same thing
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: Kansas City. But I'll take the points.
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like it either, but I gotta imagine
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: that they're gonna get something together against the Bengals. I'll
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: take the Chiefs both ways. Uh. Now, there's only a
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: Sunday night game this week. No Monday night game. Uh,
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Sunday night and be sure.
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: They night game. You get the college playoffs, can't wait.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch it go Alabama. Uh seven and eight
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: Packers at the seven and eight Vikings.
- 1:57:00Speaker 5: By one and a half. May have already let the
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: cat out of the back. Jaren Hall is playing for
- 1:57:04Speaker 5: the Vikings.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna take green Bay.
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: Please.
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: The four hundred yards that Nick Bullen's put up last
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: week not good enough? Many are you taking?
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: I got green Bay?
- 1:57:15Speaker 5: Please green Bay.
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: I hate this game, but I'm gonna go with the Sharps.
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: I'm gonna take the Vikings at home, Green Bay.
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: Jared Hall's kind of p y, you guys, I'm gonna take.
- 1:57:35Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Minnesota.
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Paul's right. I've been I've been betting against Minnesota
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: all year and they've been doing it. So I'm gonna
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: go with Minnesota. Give them their their flowers this week, as.
- 1:57:47Speaker 5: You kids say, nice, nicely done. Nicely done, Alex. Is
- 1:57:51Speaker 5: that what you kids say?
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: The Boston definitely do.
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: All right. Now we go back to Sunday at one.
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: I'm already out of the lingo. My little sister talks.
- 1:58:02Speaker 5: And like, no, like when you were young, like three
- 1:58:06Speaker 5: years ago, three years the four and eleven Patriots are
- 1:58:10Speaker 5: at the nine and six bills Buffalo by thirteen.
- 1:58:14Speaker 4: Good lord, wow, all right?
- 1:58:16Speaker 5: This respect, no respect for Bailey, no respect. That unbelievable.
- 1:58:20Speaker 4: I'm gonna take Buffalo. I'm gonna. I'm gonna, but I
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: will give the points to the Patriots. I think that
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: they hang in there around ten points. They lose, I'm
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: gonna say, I don't know. Twenty seven to seventeen.
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: Fred looked like, look at me like I was an alien.
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: When I picked the Patriots to cover last week. I
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: think I was the only one that got that right.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: I did look at you that one.
- 1:58:41Speaker 5: You looked at me like you absolutely got it right.
- 1:58:43Speaker 5: I guess that's another thing from your generation, like when
- 1:58:46Speaker 5: you predict something right, you have to tell everybody.
- 1:58:49Speaker 3: That's the first time I've done a VI I saw.
- 1:58:52Speaker 5: A couple of those yesterday about Russell will Right.
- 1:58:56Speaker 3: I think the Pats cover. I'm gonna take the Bills
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: to win twenty seven seventeen, So.
- 1:59:06Speaker 6: I also am gonna do the same thing Bills win
- 1:59:10Speaker 6: Pat's cover. I'm gonna do twenty eight seventeen, just to
- 1:59:12Speaker 6: be different between these two. But I think ultimately the
- 1:59:16Speaker 6: Bills have too much offense. Kind of similar game to
- 1:59:18Speaker 6: last year in Week eighteen where Patriots hang with her
- 1:59:21Speaker 6: half and then Buffalo just has too much in the end.
- 1:59:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to take the Bills both ways. I
- 1:59:28Speaker 5: think kind of like the Kansas City game, and maybe
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: it's a little bit back and forth early, but the
- 1:59:34Speaker 5: difference is this one's in Buffalo and not in New England.
- 1:59:36Speaker 5: So I'm going to say, like thirty one sixteen, I'll
- 1:59:41Speaker 5: give Patriots another field goal. I think I said thirty
- 1:59:43Speaker 5: one thirteen on TV. That's nice of you.
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: Listen, I'm riding with the Patriots. They've feep of the Bills.
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: The Bill has gotten the lock, he's kept the locker room.
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: You have the FEVA, you have a little bit of
- 1:59:59Speaker 5: the FEVA.
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: Yeah's yeah, Patriots both ways.
- 2:00:03Speaker 5: Uh yeah. So you know how I always tell you that, like,
- 2:00:06Speaker 5: you know, winning the picks contest is kind of irrelevant.
- 2:00:08Speaker 5: That's why, because I think the only one who actually
- 2:00:11Speaker 5: tries to pick the games as opposed to all the
- 2:00:14Speaker 5: different scenarios in my mind where I generate like I
- 2:00:17Speaker 5: hat like Fred doesn't so like I like, he just
- 2:00:21Speaker 5: gives you like five wins a week.
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: I like the way Bill has these guys playing hard.
- 2:00:26Speaker 4: They wanted to, they wanted to keep them around.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: They're playing for him, yep. And I think nothing would
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: be better for everyone to just ruin things for the
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: for the Bills. It's going to be dubbed the red
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: Ass Game.
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: That's how it's gonna go, because they're going to fire
- 2:00:41Speaker 4: him because the Patriots beat them.
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: This is it.
- 2:00:43Speaker 4: The Patriots are going to break the Bills again. You
- 2:00:45Speaker 4: heard it here first.
- 2:00:46Speaker 5: It's gonna be the it broke the Broncos. You didn't
- 2:00:47Speaker 5: read that one yesterday, of course I did.
- 2:00:49Speaker 6: We're not gonna We're not going to pick the college
- 2:00:51Speaker 6: football playoffs.
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: Sure, go ahead. I don't even know what the matchup.
- 2:00:55Speaker 5: I don't know what the spreads are.
- 2:00:59Speaker 6: But we have Michigan in Alabama, Alabama go Alabama or
- 2:01:02Speaker 6: Washington and Texas is the other game Texas.
- 2:01:04Speaker 5: So I'm not telling you that I'm not rooting for
- 2:01:08Speaker 5: for Alabama. I hate Alabama, Alabama.
- 2:01:11Speaker 3: Texas, Alabama Texas.
- 2:01:14Speaker 5: I think Alabama Texas will be the two winners. I'll
- 2:01:16Speaker 5: be rooting for Michigan in Washington.
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: Red Alabama Texas.
- 2:01:21Speaker 6: I'm taking Washington, Alabama, Washington. Michael Pennick's got that dog
- 2:01:24Speaker 6: in him.
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: But you know, like everyone's picking Alabama, but Michigan has
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: a better, think, good chance to win this game. They're
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: probably the better team going.
- 2:01:33Speaker 5: In, well they think, but yeah, but their offense is
- 2:01:36Speaker 5: really I think Alabama is better their offense.
- 2:01:39Speaker 6: Michigan's offenses is their old school ground and pound type
- 2:01:43Speaker 6: of offense. And right up, Nick Savans, Yeah, I think
- 2:01:46Speaker 6: Alabama can throw the ball on them a little bit.
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: Alabama's defense ain't all that this year.
- 2:01:50Speaker 5: No, but when you just have to stop the run,
- 2:01:52Speaker 5: you don't have to be all that. You don't like
- 2:01:54Speaker 5: JJ definitely not JJ McCarthy. He had games where he
- 2:01:58Speaker 5: threw the ball like Mac Jones, Like he had like
- 2:02:01Speaker 5: a six for eight game. I but I do want
- 2:02:03Speaker 5: Alabama away, But no, I don't like JJ mccotney.
- 2:02:08Speaker 6: I'm surprised all you took Texas a little bit I've
- 2:02:10Speaker 6: been to Austin, and I love Austin.
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I think I think Washington doesn't
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: get enough credit this year.
- 2:02:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I think Washington's a good team.
- 2:02:17Speaker 5: But Washington's good. But I feel like every game could
- 2:02:20Speaker 5: have gone either way. I don't know, Maybe I'm disrespecting them.
- 2:02:23Speaker 6: That game is going to be forty five forty two.
- 2:02:25Speaker 6: It's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 2:02:26Speaker 5: Okay, is that the first one? Second one? Unfortunately?
- 2:02:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, late night that's what. Then where we
- 2:02:31Speaker 4: brought a full circle, that's what.
- 2:02:32Speaker 5: I don't know why.
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: It's the late the better match up. All right, that's
- 2:02:36Speaker 1: it for this edition. Dayre's Unfiltered ten for the pre
