- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester.
- 0:02Speaker 2: And Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Dude, they said I got to come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 4: Hour 2 of Off the Bench, live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 4: Cane Studio.
- 0:31Speaker 5: .
- 0:55Speaker 6: .
- 0:56Speaker 7: All right, welcome back in O-T-B. Hour number two.
- 1:08Speaker 8: Here live in the Raising Cane Studio. I always want
- 1:12Speaker 8: to remind you that every Wednesday, the show's brought to
- 1:15Speaker 8: you by our friends over at Poncho. PonchoOutdoors.com slash OffTheBench.
- 1:21Speaker 8: Get a little $ 10 off. $ 10?
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Matt's got the poncho hat.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:26Speaker 8: We got the shirts. We got the t-shirts on. We
- 1:28Speaker 8: wear the hoodies.
- 1:29Speaker 2: All the time.
- 1:30Speaker 8: The Pearl Snaps, as you see in the little billboard
- 1:33Speaker 8: there behind Matt. I've got a poncho coffee cup.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Hello.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Got a little bit of everything. A little bit of everything.
- 1:40Speaker 5: That coffee cup is cute.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Thank you. I appreciate that.
- 1:42Speaker 5: I forgot I was going to play this whenever y'all
- 1:45Speaker 5: did this.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Wait.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Do y'all know this song? You can't hear it.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Okay. Heck yeah. There you go. I feel like it's
- 1:53Speaker 2: a good one.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Oh, sorry.
- 1:55Speaker 5: This song is called Pearl Snaps.
- 1:56Speaker 2: It is called Pearl Snaps. Let's go. I think that place.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Doc, you would have loved it.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You would have loved it. It was electric. You would
- 2:01Speaker 2: have loved it. It was good.
- 2:03Speaker 3: That's all right.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I've been telling Doc for three months. I need to
- 2:08Speaker 2: get in.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Well, you need to see if they need a team
- 2:11Speaker 3: doctor over there, a doctor to endorse them or something.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 2:14Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Y'all seem to know some people.
- 2:16Speaker 2: We do want to see you there because we certainly
- 2:18Speaker 2: don't want to see you on the field.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a much better spot to be.
- 2:22Speaker 8: Oh, boy.
- 2:25Speaker 1: You've been on the field so much, you're basically like
- 2:27Speaker 1: a model.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I mean, you are a male model. I've been on
- 2:29Speaker 2: the field so much this year.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, too much. But, last couple weeks.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Been a little better.
- 2:38Speaker 3: We've been a little better.
- 2:38Speaker 9: A little better.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Shorter intervals, little things. Yeah, littler.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Hopefully that trend continues. I think we've earned our share already.
- 2:46Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Are y'all out of boots?
- 2:48Speaker 10: We've got to be running low. We've got to be
- 2:49Speaker 10: running real low. Did y'all have to put a new
- 2:51Speaker 10: order in recently?
- 2:52Speaker 3: I'm sure. I'm sure, yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I saw.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Those aren't supposed to be consumables. You're not supposed to
- 2:57Speaker 1: go through.
- 2:58Speaker 8: I don't know where the boot closet is, but it
- 3:02Speaker 8: better be a storage room and not a closet.
- 3:04Speaker 3: It's actually a pretty big room. It's a big room.
- 3:06Speaker 3: You've got the middle of sports. You may just have
- 3:08Speaker 3: to start issuing with their normal gear.
- 3:09Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 3:11Speaker 10: Yeah, where the dorms used to be in Tiger Stadium,
- 3:17Speaker 10: you ever walked up there, huh?
- 3:18Speaker 1: That was like storage.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It's kind of creepy. That's just boot storage.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I remember we were working out.
- 3:24Speaker 8: One time it's probably a sophomore maybe a freshman right
- 3:27Speaker 8: right before we built the new ops building and so
- 3:31Speaker 8: i think it was our sophomore spring and i remember
- 3:34Speaker 8: stales being you know like hey what up boy daddy
- 3:37Speaker 8: he's talking about uh you know there's dorms i'm like
- 3:39Speaker 8: okay well i thought i heard that he goes no
- 3:41Speaker 8: like there's dorms like right there i was like let's
- 3:44Speaker 8: go see go take a look so during a workout
- 3:46Speaker 8: we went and we walked up there and we walked
- 3:48Speaker 8: up to the dorms and saw what it was and
- 3:50Speaker 8: It looked like somebody had left it there about 30
- 3:53Speaker 8: years ago. Hadn't touched it since. That was 20 years ago,
- 3:57Speaker 8: so probably 50 years.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Has not changed, yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 10: Kind of looks like those, you see those posts of
- 4:01Speaker 10: abandoned water parks?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it kind of looks like that a little bit.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I think asbestos is a little older place.
- 4:08Speaker 1: But you know what?
- 4:09Speaker 2: It's wild. Not to get off, because we do have
- 4:12Speaker 2: some stuff I want to get to with Doc, but. Like,
- 4:15Speaker 2: Tiger Stadium, premium. Everywhere is premium, right?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Premium, premium.
- 4:19Speaker 8: And I know they've had conversations about moving some different
- 4:21Speaker 8: things that are currently in place to add more premium.
- 4:24Speaker 2: It's like, why don't you try to fix that?
- 4:27Speaker 8: That's still there. You've got some great space. Because it's, oh,
- 4:30Speaker 8: it's premium. Premium location. I mean, facing the PMAC right there.
- 4:34Speaker 8: You can sell a couple condos right there. Could you imagine?
- 4:37Speaker 1: It'd be, like, great for boosters.
- 4:38Speaker 8: Could you imagine on a Friday night? Look, I know
- 4:42Speaker 8: there's some issues, asbestos and different, but if you got
- 4:44Speaker 8: all that out, and on Friday night you made those rooms,
- 4:50Speaker 8: like you can rent a room in Tiger Stadium on
- 4:53Speaker 8: Friday nights, you could literally name your price.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I'm just saying.
- 4:58Speaker 1: There's a way to revenue. Business guy.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Y'all know people.
- 5:02Speaker 1: There's a business guy.
- 5:04Speaker 3: You got a big dinner Friday. Maybe there might be
- 5:07Speaker 3: some people there that might be able to.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Make it happen.
- 5:08Speaker 10: If they're selling them, I'll be in the market. I'll
- 5:11Speaker 10: put that thing on Airbnb so fast.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like, hey, hear me out.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Hear me out now.
- 5:16Speaker 11: All right.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm going to sell that. Take the asbestos out, apparently.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Well, I mean, come on.
- 5:19Speaker 10: I mean, it's got to be in there. There's lead
- 5:22Speaker 10: paint in there, probably. But it's probably like a shared toilet.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. It's a community toilet. Community shower. Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, there's no doubt.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Again, two sinks.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Still, though, you could stay the night in Tiger Stadium.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a price you pay. Yeah, you got to just.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Bring your shower shoes. Bring the slides.
- 5:41Speaker 1: All right.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Squirrel.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Dr.
- 5:44Speaker 8: Stephen Etheridge joins us like he does every single Wednesday.
- 5:48Speaker 8: And the big conversation in the sports world is blood
- 5:50Speaker 8: clots and Jalen Hurts and staying up all night and
- 5:54Speaker 8: flying on a plane and all the different things. And
- 5:56Speaker 8: he's not the first player. He's not the only player
- 5:59Speaker 8: that's ever gone through something like this there's been there's
- 6:03Speaker 8: been a handful I think we were talking like there's
- 6:04Speaker 8: like six examples we gave on NFL radio but obviously
- 6:08Speaker 8: when it's Jalen Hurts when it's the quarterback when it's
- 6:10Speaker 8: one of the you know the faces of the NFL
- 6:13Speaker 8: it's going to be heightened so like walk me through
- 6:18Speaker 8: it like I there I don't know really anything about
- 6:21Speaker 8: how this starts how it happens how it moves what
- 6:24Speaker 8: they did to keep him up.
- 6:25Speaker 3: All of that yeah and to be fair this is
- 6:29Speaker 3: The best we can do, like I don't know everything
- 6:31Speaker 3: that happened. I don't think, I'm not sure anybody publicly does,
- 6:33Speaker 3: but kind of speculating what we do know and then
- 6:37Speaker 3: kind of going from there. So he had a blood
- 6:39Speaker 3: clot in his leg, lower leg. That's one of the
- 6:41Speaker 3: most common places you see him. Usually there's some kind
- 6:44Speaker 3: of a risk for it. Either you have some inherent risk,
- 6:47Speaker 3: like some kind of increased clotting condition. There are certain
- 6:51Speaker 3: medical conditions where some people just are more prone to
- 6:53Speaker 3: forming blood clots.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Right.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Those are usually ones that we probably would have known
- 6:57Speaker 3: about by now more likely than not. These are ones
- 6:59Speaker 3: that just literally spontaneous can happen. But in his case,
- 7:03Speaker 3: probably more sort of a combination of some other variables.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I did read one of the reports apparently he'd been
- 7:07Speaker 3: cleated prior to this in the calf. So if you
- 7:10Speaker 3: have an injury in your lower leg, something that causes
- 7:12Speaker 3: swelling that might put some compression on one of these veins,
- 7:17Speaker 3: it might disrupt your normal blood flow and in so
- 7:19Speaker 3: doing promote a clot. So it sounds like that might
- 7:21Speaker 3: be part of what contributed to it. And then look,
- 7:23Speaker 3: one of the other things that we often talk to
- 7:25Speaker 3: our patients about is any kind of prolonged immobilization, such
- 7:28Speaker 3: as a long airplane flight, you know, for people who
- 7:30Speaker 3: have tendencies, especially at blood clots, when they're traveling, we
- 7:33Speaker 3: always tell them, look, you gotta be extra careful where
- 7:35Speaker 3: your compression do all your things, things like that. And
- 7:37Speaker 3: then you have a guy that had a calf injury
- 7:39Speaker 3: and then flew, you know, halfway around the world. So
- 7:42Speaker 3: I think probably it's, it's one of those perfect storms
- 7:45Speaker 3: where all these things sort of added up into a
- 7:47Speaker 3: blood clot in the leg. Um, And then when you
- 7:50Speaker 3: talk about blood clots in the leg, there are what
- 7:52Speaker 3: are called superficial clots, superficial thrombus, and then there's what's
- 7:55Speaker 3: called a DVT, which is a deep venous thrombosis. So
- 7:59Speaker 3: the DVT is the more troubling one. Those are in
- 8:01Speaker 3: the bigger veins. And if you think about your blood flow,
- 8:03Speaker 3: if you think about your venous system, it's the return
- 8:06Speaker 3: flow to your heart. So it's kind of all the
- 8:08Speaker 3: blood that comes back from your body, goes in your veins,
- 8:10Speaker 3: and goes back to the heart. And so doing, the
- 8:16Speaker 3: thing that you worry about in these deep veins is
- 8:18Speaker 3: if a piece of that clot breaks off goes to
- 8:20Speaker 3: your lungs eventually. So it goes through the heart, goes
- 8:22Speaker 3: into your pulmonary circulation, and then it blocks some of
- 8:26Speaker 3: those vessels. And that's what's called a pulmonary embolism. So
- 8:28Speaker 3: that's the progression of these blood clots. And that's the
- 8:31Speaker 3: big thing you worry about. And that's why we really
- 8:33Speaker 3: take these very seriously. You know, a blood clot in
- 8:34Speaker 3: the leg is a medical emergency. Now, the superficial variety
- 8:38Speaker 3: can sometimes be treated more conservatively. Those are the ones
- 8:41Speaker 3: that are in the smaller veins. They're usually much smaller clots,
- 8:44Speaker 3: much less likely to break off. But there are some
- 8:46Speaker 3: variables there too. Like how close is that small vein
- 8:49Speaker 3: where it dumps into the bigger veins? You think like
- 8:50Speaker 3: almost like it's a plumbing system where you have smaller
- 8:52Speaker 3: pipes that dump into the bigger pipes.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:54Speaker 3: That's how our venous system is. And if it's right
- 8:56Speaker 3: at that junction, that superficial clot, and that's kind of
- 8:59Speaker 3: my assumption because I believe the original diagnosis was that
- 9:01Speaker 3: he had a superficial blood clot.
- 9:02Speaker 11: Yes.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Not as serious.
- 9:04Speaker 3: You treat those conservatively. You're not usually put on blood thinners,
- 9:06Speaker 3: you know, hot compression, things like that.
- 9:08Speaker 11: Right.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Again, you know, this is a bit of an assumption
- 9:10Speaker 3: and we all know what they say about that. But
- 9:11Speaker 3: my assumption would be he probably had one that was
- 9:14Speaker 3: approaching one of those junctions into the larger veins or
- 9:19Speaker 3: a misdiagnosis. And this isn't, you know, I'm trying to
- 9:21Speaker 3: throw anybody in the bus, but that's typically what you
- 9:22Speaker 3: would expect in that scenario. Either it was a DVT
- 9:24Speaker 3: and it was misdiagnosed or it was in one of
- 9:26Speaker 3: those areas close to a junction. It progressed, it went
- 9:29Speaker 3: into that deeper vein. And then that's when these become
- 9:31Speaker 3: more medical emergencies.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Doug.
- 9:33Speaker 10: So I was watching this news and we've heard blood
- 9:37Speaker 10: clots thrown around with different athletes over the last couple
- 9:39Speaker 10: of years. Um, And I'm sitting there and I'm thinking,
- 9:42Speaker 10: all right, well, for me personally, how do I make
- 9:45Speaker 10: sure I don't have blood? What is the symptoms that
- 9:48Speaker 10: Jalen Hurts could have been showing, or anybody for that matter,
- 9:53Speaker 10: to even have the like the team medical doctor check
- 9:56Speaker 10: to see if he has blood clots like how do
- 9:58Speaker 10: you even like what symptoms are being shown to even
- 10:01Speaker 10: like put like throw that up.
- 10:02Speaker 3: As a red flag yeah the big the big things
- 10:04Speaker 3: are pain redness and swelling so so typically what we're
- 10:07Speaker 3: looking at is if somebody just shows up my office
- 10:09Speaker 3: one day so somebody came walking walking in today and
- 10:11Speaker 3: their their calf was really red hot and swollen i'm
- 10:14Speaker 3: immediately worried about a blood clot Typically, either A, out
- 10:18Speaker 3: of the blue. So that's kind of some spontaneous ones.
- 10:20Speaker 3: And again, one of the first questions I'm always going
- 10:22Speaker 3: to ask that patient, have you traveled recently? I want
- 10:24Speaker 3: to know, were you on a plane for a while?
- 10:25Speaker 3: Because that is a risk factor. Then the second thing, well,
- 10:28Speaker 3: you know, do you have any history of blood clots
- 10:30Speaker 3: or risk factors for them? And then was there any trauma?
- 10:32Speaker 3: We sometimes see them after surgeries because if you think
- 10:34Speaker 3: about it, A, you're immobilized and B, you had something,
- 10:38Speaker 3: especially a surge in the lower extremity that maybe affected
- 10:40Speaker 3: the circulation there. So those are kind of the scenarios
- 10:42Speaker 3: we worry about. Or if you maybe had an injury,
- 10:44Speaker 3: like in Jalen's situation where, you know, you had this injury,
- 10:49Speaker 3: you had a little bit of swelling, you had a
- 10:50Speaker 3: little bit of pain in the calf because you got
- 10:51Speaker 3: cleated there, and then all of a sudden one day
- 10:53Speaker 3: it's a lot worse. I've seen that presentation too where
- 10:55Speaker 3: somebody had a mild injury and then they show up like, man,
- 10:57Speaker 3: it was getting better, and now it's twice as big,
- 10:59Speaker 3: it's really painful, it's really red, it's really hot. Then
- 11:02Speaker 3: that's somebody that I'm immediately saying, hey, we've got to
- 11:04Speaker 3: get an ultrasound, we've got to send this guy to
- 11:05Speaker 3: get worked up.
- 11:08Speaker 8: How quickly, sorry to cut you off, Matt. How quickly
- 11:11Speaker 8: can it move, though? You know what I'm saying? So
- 11:12Speaker 8: his move to his lungs.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Spontaneous. It can happen very rapidly.
- 11:16Speaker 3: You know, it was.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Hate, hate, hate.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a good friend of mine. It's funny,
- 11:21Speaker 3: it's not funny, it's crazy.
- 11:22Speaker 1: He was in his 20s.
- 11:23Speaker 3: He had knee surgery. And his leg got really swollen.
- 11:26Speaker 3: And they actually did an ultrasound. The ultrasound was negative.
- 11:29Speaker 3: And I think he probably had a really early clot
- 11:30Speaker 3: or maybe one of these superficial ones. And I get
- 11:32Speaker 3: a call from, at the time, his girlfriend, now his wife.
- 11:34Speaker 3: She had called me in the middle of the night saying, hey,
- 11:36Speaker 3: he can't breathe. And I'm like, nine one one immediate.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Cause he'd had a small point of embolism and it's, it's,
- 11:43Speaker 3: you know, it was, it's, it can happen that quick,
- 11:44Speaker 3: you know, to bed feeling fine other than a leg
- 11:47Speaker 3: that was hurting and woke up at like 2 AM.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Couldn't breathe.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I think, uh, Kirk Herbstreet went through something very similar.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:52Speaker 8: He said he thought he was having a heart attack
- 11:54Speaker 8: and it was blood clots that had moved up to
- 11:55Speaker 8: his lungs.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 3: And it can, and I mean, if it's a big
- 11:57Speaker 3: clot and it's in a bad spot, it can, it
- 11:59Speaker 3: can cause a heart attack. You can literally, I mean,
- 12:03Speaker 3: so it's scary.
- 12:04Speaker 2: All right.
- 12:05Speaker 10: Um, let's talk about travel so we talk about uh
- 12:07Speaker 10: airplane especially going overseas long and my understanding has always
- 12:12Speaker 10: been because you're just stagnant for so long you're sitting
- 12:15Speaker 10: in a position for so long so we've always been
- 12:17Speaker 10: told like we would travel so i was in seattle
- 12:20Speaker 10: we traveled to the east coast like five different times
- 12:22Speaker 10: like they would give us compression socks and so and
- 12:25Speaker 10: they tell us like every two hours get up walk
- 12:27Speaker 10: around get the blood flowing in your legs And it
- 12:30Speaker 10: was always because of swelling, ankle swell, feet swell, stuff
- 12:34Speaker 10: like that, but also blood clots. That's kind of a
- 12:37Speaker 10: known deal. Is it something about the air pressure, the
- 12:41Speaker 10: recycled oxygen in an airplane, or is it just simply
- 12:48Speaker 10: the more stagnant you are and the more you're sitting,
- 12:52Speaker 10: the more your lower legs, the less that blood is circulating,
- 12:54Speaker 10: it's pooling up, things like that?
- 12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I believe it's more the latter. Somebody might correct
- 12:58Speaker 3: me on some of the physiology. I'm not aware of
- 13:00Speaker 3: any pressure change air issues that contribute to it.
- 13:02Speaker 2: There might be.
- 13:03Speaker 3: So that's one of those things. But I think it's more, A,
- 13:04Speaker 3: you're stagnant. And B, if you think about it, typically
- 13:06Speaker 3: when you're on an airplane, you're sitting. So your knee's bent.
- 13:09Speaker 3: So at your point, your foot's lower down. So your
- 13:11Speaker 3: circulation's worse. Probably having that knee bent, your popliteal artery
- 13:15Speaker 3: and vein run right behind the knee. And those are
- 13:17Speaker 3: two of those big veins and arteries we talk about.
- 13:19Speaker 3: So in this case, the vein. And it's compressed probably
- 13:21Speaker 3: a little bit when you're bent. So if you tie
- 13:23Speaker 3: all those things together, You know, we know air travel
- 13:26Speaker 3: is a risk. So that's why, yes, we tell people
- 13:28Speaker 3: get up, move around, wear some compression stockings to help
- 13:30Speaker 3: that venous return. You know, even just pumping your foot
- 13:33Speaker 3: up and down. You know, people that have risk, you know,
- 13:36Speaker 3: sometimes they'll even take like an aspirin or something like
- 13:38Speaker 3: that before they fly. And that's, you know, things that
- 13:41Speaker 3: we sometimes would do. Now, I wouldn't necessarily say everybody
- 13:43Speaker 3: should do the aspirin thing, but I think all the
- 13:45Speaker 3: other stuff.
- 13:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:47Speaker 3: What's the downside to taking aspirin? It's not really big.
- 13:50Speaker 3: It is a blood thinner. So if you're taking it
- 13:51Speaker 3: all the time, plus it can cause some GI irritation, so. But,
- 13:54Speaker 3: I mean, it's not going to hurt you probably if
- 13:56Speaker 3: you're healthy.
- 13:58Speaker 1: All right.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Dr.
- 13:59Speaker 8: Etheridge, I do want to get this one in, but
- 14:01Speaker 8: great stuff on blood clots, and now I'm more nervous
- 14:04Speaker 8: about them. Bi-week coming up for LSU. So when you
- 14:09Speaker 8: have a bi-week situation, does it change, like, your meetings?
- 14:13Speaker 8: I know you meet with the staff and you meet
- 14:15Speaker 8: with everybody, like, every single week. But, like, when you
- 14:17Speaker 8: have a bi-week and you've had some guys out, like,
- 14:20Speaker 8: is it okay?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 14:21Speaker 8: Before the week, maybe let's have a plan. Let's see
- 14:24Speaker 8: what they can do. Is it at the end of
- 14:27Speaker 8: that bye week? Decisions have to be made for some
- 14:31Speaker 8: guys that needed some extra rest. How much goes into
- 14:35Speaker 8: all of that, figuring out who's going to play, who's
- 14:37Speaker 8: not going to play? Obviously, we can't talk specific names,
- 14:40Speaker 8: but just saying as a whole, for everybody involved that's
- 14:43Speaker 8: been out resting for a couple of weeks.
- 14:45Speaker 3: It's a lot. The bye week is definitely, from the
- 14:48Speaker 3: medical side of things, it plays big into a lot
- 14:50Speaker 3: of our plans.
- 14:50Speaker 11: Yes.
- 14:51Speaker 3: You know, whether that's, hey, we got this guy. Maybe
- 14:53Speaker 3: we're talking about doing some type of an injection, like
- 14:55Speaker 3: one of the ones like a PRP, a stem cell,
- 14:56Speaker 3: something that's going to maybe cause a little soreness initially
- 14:59Speaker 3: and maybe take a little longer to work and say, look,
- 15:01Speaker 3: I'd rather wait until this upcoming weekend after we play
- 15:04Speaker 3: than doing this last weekend because they might be sore
- 15:06Speaker 3: during the week and all those things. And then, yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 3: if you're trying to get a guy back from an injury,
- 15:10Speaker 3: maybe you're looking at like, man, he's so close right now.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Maybe we could push him this week. Maybe he could go.
- 15:15Speaker 3: But the risk is a lot higher. And if you
- 15:17Speaker 3: don't play him this week, all of a sudden you're
- 15:19Speaker 3: getting two more bonus weeks essentially. Those things do go
- 15:22Speaker 3: into it. Now, again, each one is an individual decision.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I don't think you sit a guy just because you
- 15:27Speaker 3: have the bye week coming up. You've got to look
- 15:29Speaker 3: at the whole picture. But if it's an injury and
- 15:31Speaker 3: you're on the fence, that's probably definitely played into some
- 15:34Speaker 3: of those decisions over the years and will. And then
- 15:36Speaker 3: a lot of the plans, like maybe we're going to say, hey, look,
- 15:38Speaker 3: we can get you back for a few plays. But
- 15:40Speaker 3: because we have the bye week, maybe we'll even push
- 15:42Speaker 3: you a little harder because we know we've got two
- 15:43Speaker 3: weeks after that. So it's situational, but it does definitely
- 15:48Speaker 3: affect those decisions.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Um, Oh, I got one more blood clot question.
- 15:55Speaker 2: All right, let's go.
- 15:56Speaker 10: And this is just me. I don't think anybody else
- 15:58Speaker 10: is wondering this. What is, what actually starts to clot?
- 16:02Speaker 10: Is it red blood cells? White blood cells?
- 16:03Speaker 3: Like what part of the blood actually starts to accumulate?
- 16:07Speaker 3: So anytime you have a clot, it's actually a pretty
- 16:10Speaker 3: complicated process. So typically we think about them starting with platelets.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Most of the times that's where it's coming from, but
- 16:15Speaker 3: you actually have this whole chain of coagulation factors, these
- 16:19Speaker 3: different cofactors and, Basically, one kind of triggers another. So
- 16:22Speaker 3: we talked about there's some people that have genetic predispositions,
- 16:24Speaker 3: and there are lots of different cofactors that are involved. And,
- 16:28Speaker 3: for example, you do these tier panels where you look
- 16:31Speaker 3: at somebody and you say, do you have any problems
- 16:33Speaker 3: with these different clotting factors? And it can be on
- 16:35Speaker 3: either way. Some people are more prone to clotting, but
- 16:38Speaker 3: people who have bleeding disorders, it's often the same things.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Maybe one of those cofactors is deficient or doesn't work appropriately.
- 16:44Speaker 3: So in both situations, it can be a combination of
- 16:46Speaker 3: all of the above. So people who are predisposed, they
- 16:49Speaker 3: have a genetic predisposition that maybe one of those factors
- 16:52Speaker 3: is faulty, either doesn't work or works too well. But
- 16:56Speaker 3: then typically you think about the platelets is what starts it,
- 16:58Speaker 3: but there are other cofactors that can trigger it. So
- 17:02Speaker 3: it's a kind of a combination. So it's not as
- 17:03Speaker 3: simple as, hey, it's just the red cell, it's just
- 17:05Speaker 3: the white cell, it's just the platelet. It's all these
- 17:07Speaker 3: different variables that kind of work together.
- 17:08Speaker 2: We call that here an amalgamation, Doc.
- 17:10Speaker 3: It's a lot, yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Big words, you know.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Now at Butcher, I think if I try to go back,
- 17:14Speaker 3: I can see the diagram in my head of which one,
- 17:16Speaker 3: but I... If I tried to give you the order,
- 17:18Speaker 3: I'm a little rusty on that, so I don't want
- 17:20Speaker 3: to give bad information.
- 17:22Speaker 10: Is there any, like, supplements, dietary things that people can
- 17:24Speaker 10: do if they think that they are kind of at
- 17:27Speaker 10: risk or have that in their family, anything like that?
- 17:30Speaker 3: Well, if there's a risk, you know, I think if
- 17:34Speaker 3: there's risk, you probably, especially if you have family history,
- 17:36Speaker 3: you know, there are some blood tests and things that
- 17:38Speaker 3: we will sometimes do. If there's some kind of predisposition,
- 17:42Speaker 3: we might want to screen them to know, like, hey, yes,
- 17:43Speaker 3: you are at risk or no, you are not. Um,
- 17:47Speaker 3: as far as beyond that, I think a lot of
- 17:48Speaker 3: it does boil down to exercise, health, hydration. You want
- 17:51Speaker 3: to be hydrated, staying fit, keeping your circulation well, doing
- 17:54Speaker 3: things like I said, wearing compression stockings that help the
- 17:56Speaker 3: compression there. You know, there's a lot of supplements out
- 17:59Speaker 3: there that make a lot of different claims that aren't
- 18:01Speaker 3: really well tested. I think depending on the specific conditions,
- 18:03Speaker 3: there might be a time and place for each one
- 18:05Speaker 3: of those, but not one that I'm aware of. It's like,
- 18:07Speaker 3: this is what you should be taking. I might be
- 18:09Speaker 3: wrong on that. There's not one that I can think of.
- 18:12Speaker 1: All right.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Are you good?
- 18:14Speaker 1: COVID vaccines.
- 18:17Speaker 2: That's where we're going to end this? Hell yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Hell yeah. Don't say anything, Doc. Don't come into it.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I was going to say, our guests.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Don't come into this conspiracy theory.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Doc, we appreciate it as always, sir. No problem. We
- 18:34Speaker 2: will see you this weekend on the planes. Well, I'll
- 18:37Speaker 2: see you. They don't want to see you.
- 18:38Speaker 3: They do not want to see you. On the side,
- 18:40Speaker 3: just watching and enjoying a wonderful game.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Exactly.

- 20:10Speaker 11: to you by Poncho. I don't know what to do
- 20:29Speaker 11: but to give you part.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Two of my confession.
- 20:32Speaker 9: Now this gonna be the hardest thing I think I
- 20:34Speaker 9: ever had to do.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Got me talking to myself, asking how I'm.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Gonna tell you.
- 20:39Speaker 11: Bought that chick on part one, I told y'all I was.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Creeping with, creeping with. Said she's three months pregnant and
- 20:44Speaker 2: she's keeping it.
- 20:45Speaker 11: The first thing that came to mind was you. Second
- 20:48Speaker 11: thing was how do I know if it's mine and
- 20:51Speaker 11: is it true?
- 20:51Speaker 9: Third thing was me wishing that I never did what
- 20:55Speaker 9: I did.
- 20:55Speaker 11: How I ain't.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Ready for no king.
- 21:01Speaker 11: I wish my segment idea would have taken off.
- 21:05Speaker 5: It didn't, though. I wanted to do confessions.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Oh, wait, that was fun, though. I know.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Once a week.
- 21:13Speaker 9: Wednesday feels like a great day to do it.
- 21:30Speaker 8: And we play a little Usher Confessions, and you got
- 21:33Speaker 8: to go around the room, and you got to say, like,
- 21:37Speaker 8: one thing you did that week that's kind of like, oh, man,
- 21:40Speaker 8: listen to what I did. Oh, we should do it.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I can do that.
- 21:46Speaker 5: I don't think I have anything this week.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I didn't think about it. Like, next week, Wednesday. We
- 21:51Speaker 2: used to do something like this.
- 21:52Speaker 8: I used to do a show with Brock Huard, and
- 21:57Speaker 8: he was really good at it, really.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Good at it. O-T-B confessionals.
- 22:03Speaker 8: Like, you know, one of mine one time was, hey,
- 22:05Speaker 8: when you're making your coffee and you realize you poured
- 22:08Speaker 8: the last of the milk into your coffee, but people
- 22:11Speaker 8: in the house still have to make coffee, and you
- 22:13Speaker 8: might have poured some water into the milk and did
- 22:16Speaker 8: a little shake, shake, put it back in there so
- 22:19Speaker 8: you didn't get called out for using all the milk.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Well, that's how they make skim milk.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Like, that was my... It was already skim.
- 22:24Speaker 10: Oh, okay.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Super skim. So, like, that was my confession. Ah. For
- 22:30Speaker 2: that day, things like that.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I like that.
- 22:32Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Am I proud of that?
- 22:35Speaker 11: No.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Did it happen? Absolutely.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 22:41Speaker 2: See, I tried to do this.
- 22:41Speaker 1: I mean, I'll write the saying. I got to think
- 22:43Speaker 1: about it.
- 22:43Speaker 2: So I tried to do this one time with T-Bob.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I think y'all were here.
- 22:47Speaker 5: But we did this like, we've done this.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Not that long ago.
- 22:52Speaker 2: It was.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Because I said I found that guy.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah. His uncle's address or whatever.
- 22:57Speaker 8: Well, do y'all remember we tried to do it with T-Bob,
- 23:00Speaker 8: and T-Bob looked at me and goes, you know what, guys?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Honestly, I'm kind of an open book.
- 23:04Speaker 5: That's fair.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair. Very good point.
- 23:07Speaker 10: I was thinking about it. You know, when I tell y'all,
- 23:09Speaker 10: can I be honest with you? You know, that's kind
- 23:11Speaker 10: of when I spill my guts.
- 23:14Speaker 5: And it's like something so normal to say.
- 23:16Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Can I be honest with y'all? It's cold out there.
- 23:19Speaker 1: It's cold. Man, I'll tell you what.
- 23:22Speaker 5: A little scooch of fall.
- 23:24Speaker 11: Dude.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Had to take the dog out at 1 a.m. It
- 23:28Speaker 1: was cold then. It was cold, cold.
- 23:30Speaker 2: That dog's just going to have to go somewhere else.
- 23:31Speaker 1: It was cold, cold. That dog doesn't have four legs? Well,
- 23:36Speaker 1: baby was crying, woke him up.
- 23:38Speaker 8: Oh, boy.
- 23:39Speaker 12: And so now, you know, he's riled up. And I
- 23:41Speaker 12: was like, I think it's best.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Just to take him out.
- 23:43Speaker 5: All right.
- 23:46Speaker 1: That's really funny. That's the thing about having a kid.
- 23:49Speaker 1: It's not a goat. It's a human. Baby goat. Human kid.
- 23:52Speaker 1: It's a kid.
- 23:53Speaker 10: It's the thing about having your first baby. You thought
- 23:56Speaker 10: you loved dogs. You're like a dog person.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I love my dog.
- 23:59Speaker 5: I'm a dog person.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Golly, I love my dog. I'd do anything for my dog.
- 24:02Speaker 1: As soon as that baby comes, I kick a dog.
- 24:09Speaker 1: With love, of course. Just hits a little different.
- 24:15Speaker 8: Cody inside the chat, you should definitely not be proud
- 24:17Speaker 8: of drinking skim milk. Nice confession, Jake. Oh, see, here's
- 24:20Speaker 8: the thing, Cody. And we used to have to drink
- 24:23Speaker 8: milk with every single meal growing up. And that was
- 24:25Speaker 8: probably 2%. But it was like Joey Hester was going
- 24:28Speaker 8: to make you drink milk. And it was calcium and bones.
- 24:32Speaker 8: And I am a full believer in milk helping with injury.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Full believer.
- 24:36Speaker 8: The reason I went to Skilm is because I drink
- 24:39Speaker 8: so much milk. If I did not, I would be
- 24:43Speaker 8: 300 pounds. Like that's how much milk that I drink.
- 24:46Speaker 8: Like if I did whole milk, oh, man. Oh, boy.
- 24:49Speaker 1: So that's the reason I made the switch. But you
- 24:51Speaker 1: beat 300 pounds of muscle.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 24:53Speaker 1: With some strong, strong bones.
- 24:55Speaker 8: I already have strong bones. So that's why I made
- 24:59Speaker 8: the switch there.
- 25:00Speaker 1: So that's the problem.
- 25:00Speaker 10: I mean, we talked about it, and we joke about it,
- 25:03Speaker 10: but all these people getting injured these days, it's the
- 25:06Speaker 10: almond milk generation.
- 25:07Speaker 6: Yeah, it is.
- 25:10Speaker 2: There's no doubt.
- 25:10Speaker 1: It's the almond milks and the, you know, what Fauci
- 25:13Speaker 1: made you do.
- 25:14Speaker 2: There's a lot of people that, like, are very injury prone.
- 25:16Speaker 8: I'm like, man, you need some milk. Go get them
- 25:19Speaker 8: bones stronger. A little calcium in your life. Never hurt anybody.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Get Ladd-McConkie some milk, Jake.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I'd love to.
- 25:27Speaker 5: My bones are pretty strong.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I don't really drink milk. Text Ladarius right now and
- 25:31Speaker 2: be like, my guy, can I interest you in a subscription?
- 25:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I need Ladarius to get it together.
- 25:37Speaker 1: He needs whole milk, too. He's small enough.
- 25:39Speaker 2: He could handle whole milk.
- 25:40Speaker 1: We did whole grown-up. Victoria gets 2%. Blue cap, right?
- 25:43Speaker 9: 2%?
- 25:44Speaker 1: Are you doing 2% because you think you're fat?
- 25:48Speaker 5: You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I'm going to tell Victoria that when I go. We
- 25:54Speaker 1: should look at what almond milk is. It's almond juice.
- 25:58Speaker 5: You squeeze the juice out the almond.
- 26:00Speaker 1: That's true.
- 26:00Speaker 10: Because obviously we got down to the science of it.
- 26:03Speaker 10: Almonds don't have nipples.
- 26:05Speaker 5: They don't have nipples and it's nut juice.
- 26:07Speaker 1: But neither does oats. Oats don't have nipples either.
- 26:11Speaker 5: That's a great point. I didn't think about oat milk.
- 26:14Speaker 10: How are they making it? How are they getting it
- 26:16Speaker 10: to semi the color of milk?
- 26:19Speaker 1: Kind of weird. What are we doing? Cows make it.
- 26:25Speaker 1: You don't have to do anything.
- 26:26Speaker 5: It's true.
- 26:27Speaker 10: You don't have to blend anything together.
- 26:29Speaker 1: You don't have to do anything with almonds, anything with oats, nothing.
- 26:33Speaker 1: It's crazy. It's just wild. They just make it. God
- 26:36Speaker 1: gave them that ability. It's just the brand they used
- 26:39Speaker 1: to have. Very true.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Hey, we don't have to even think about how would
- 26:42Speaker 2: I go about doing this.
- 26:43Speaker 10: I don't think like when God created almonds, I don't
- 26:46Speaker 10: think he ever thought humans would make milk out of it.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Did they sell the silk? That probably shocked even him.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Who's the first freaky ass dude that.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Was like, hey, what y'all doing down there? Come on now.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Somebody in sandals. Stop milking everything. Stop hugging that tree
- 27:05Speaker 1: and go milk a cow. That's what I gave you
- 27:08Speaker 1: cows for.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Oat milk is made by milling oats with water, treating
- 27:12Speaker 4: the mixture with enzymes to break down starches and stirring
- 27:16Speaker 4: out the pulp before adding oils and flavorings, which sounds
- 27:19Speaker 4: a lot more unnatural than actual milk. Like, y'all think
- 27:22Speaker 4: y'all are out here being better than us and you're
- 27:25Speaker 4: putting all these enzymes and oils and.
- 27:28Speaker 5: Flavorings when regular milk already has all that? You're not
- 27:31Speaker 5: better than me.
- 27:31Speaker 1: It also seems like a complicated process. Seems very complicated.
- 27:34Speaker 1: It's like, what do you do with milk? Go squeeze
- 27:36Speaker 1: that out of our bowl.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah, true.
- 27:37Speaker 10: Okay. There's a, like, You go to these healthy places.
- 27:42Speaker 10: People go shop at Whole Foods, which is great. They
- 27:43Speaker 10: got a lot of really clean stuff there. There's also
- 27:47Speaker 10: a lot of stuff that's got a lot of real
- 27:48Speaker 10: processed things in it that make it sugar-free and make it.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Right. Like Diet Coke, what is it? Aspartame is bad
- 27:55Speaker 5: for you?
- 27:56Speaker 2: God, I love Diet Coke.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I do too, but isn't aspartame bad?
- 27:59Speaker 8: I think the amount of it that it would take
- 28:02Speaker 8: for it to be bad is.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Like, it'd be bad.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Over-exaggerated, but it would take a lot.
- 28:09Speaker 5: I don't drink Diet Coke.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I mean, I do.
- 28:11Speaker 6: I like it.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I'll drink a Dr.
- 28:12Speaker 11: Pepper.
- 28:13Speaker 8: Just like I'd play football again, knowing what it does
- 28:15Speaker 8: to your brain, I'll drink Diet Coke.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Still, too.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Well, I'll drink a Diet Coke, but a Dr. Pepper,
- 28:18Speaker 5: that was the first.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Thing I had.
- 28:19Speaker 8: Nacho Man, inside the chat there, our guy, my mom's
- 28:22Speaker 8: ex-boyfriend used to say milk was the worst thing you
- 28:24Speaker 8: could drink.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Good thing you said ex-boyfriend.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why she dumped his ass.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure.
- 28:28Speaker 8: Joey would fight your mom's ex-boyfriend because of my dad.
- 28:33Speaker 2: My dad, you got to know.
- 28:34Speaker 1: And don't give me that argument.
- 28:35Speaker 5: Sounds like a loser.
- 28:36Speaker 8: I don't know if he learned it in the Marines.
- 28:37Speaker 8: I don't know where he learned it. I don't know
- 28:38Speaker 8: if it was him growing up with my grandpa.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Maybe it was because my dad's like a milk dude, too.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Maybe it was. Maybe it's something they heard.
- 28:45Speaker 12: My dad wasn't in the military, but his dad was.
- 28:47Speaker 12: And he's a big on milk, too. So, yeah, he
- 28:49Speaker 12: could be.
- 28:49Speaker 2: It's something they must have learned, yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I heard the argument from nerds before.
- 28:54Speaker 10: Like, oh, well, you're not supposed to drink milk as
- 28:57Speaker 10: an adult. Humans are the only species on Earth that
- 29:00Speaker 10: drinks milk after infancy. And I'm like, well, yeah, we're
- 29:03Speaker 10: also the only species that can, like, build things and
- 29:07Speaker 10: drive cars and.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Fly planes and say words.
- 29:09Speaker 5: And think critically.
- 29:10Speaker 1: And, like, yeah, that's why we're the dominant species. So
- 29:14Speaker 1: you can miss me with that argument.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Pencil pushers.
- 29:20Speaker 5: But for real, who do you think was the first
- 29:21Speaker 5: person to be like, let me see what this does?
- 29:26Speaker 2: For what?
- 29:27Speaker 5: On a cow.
- 29:30Speaker 12: Let's see what this does.
- 29:32Speaker 1: And then he's.
- 29:35Speaker 5: Like trying to convince everybody. Like, no guys, I swear.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Like, come try it.
- 29:39Speaker 5: And everyone's like, I'm not trying to do that.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Like, gross.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Sicko.
- 29:47Speaker 5: The calves do it.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Come try this.
- 29:49Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I think about that a lot, actually.
- 29:53Speaker 5: Great point by Adam in the chat. Beavers build things, bro.
- 29:56Speaker 2: They really do.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Not like.
- 30:00Speaker 12: Buildings with windows and stuff.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, come on, dude. You know. Beavers are impressive, though.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Wow, Blake, you don't like Diet Coke? Nobody's perfect. Sorry, Blake.
- 30:12Speaker 2: We still love you.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Beavers can change an entire ecosystem. So, like, that's impressive stuff.
- 30:18Speaker 10: But not as impressive as, you know, humans.
- 30:21Speaker 4: I do love that, like, their one instinct in life
- 30:25Speaker 4: is to gather wood and build something.
- 30:27Speaker 5: They don't know why they're doing it, but they're doing it.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Nope. How about this from Coach Hogue?
- 30:35Speaker 2: I wish I could drink milk still. If I did,
- 30:37Speaker 2: I would have it coming out both north and south.
- 30:41Speaker 1: What a way to put that.
- 30:42Speaker 10: I do think if you don't use it, you lose it.
- 30:44Speaker 10: I think if you stop drinking milk for a while
- 30:46Speaker 10: and go back to it.
- 30:54Speaker 2: All right. Didn't know that was coming, but glad we
- 30:57Speaker 2: did it.
- 30:57Speaker 9: Milk!
- 30:58Speaker 6: Milk.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Me, Jake.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Me, drink milk.
- 31:02Speaker 2: I do love milk. I'm going to have some later today.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I also feel like Jake's super changing the subject fast
- 31:10Speaker 1: when I bring up Fauci.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Fauci?
- 31:13Speaker 5: He's like, no, we can't talk about that.
- 31:15Speaker 2: No, we're good. We can talk about him.
- 31:16Speaker 1: He should be in prison.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I told you I love Aaron Rodgers. Good.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So how can I love Aaron Rodgers and love Fauci?
- 31:23Speaker 1: Crime against humanity?
- 31:24Speaker 5: Crime against humanity.
- 31:25Speaker 1: What are we doing?
- 31:26Speaker 2: That one backfired.
- 31:27Speaker 5: Just use us all as lab rats.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 31:30Speaker 1: We're here together, brother. Let's talk about it for an hour.
- 31:32Speaker 5: We can't. He just pled the fifth again.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I don't know that I have the information, but you
- 31:37Speaker 2: can do it. I'll sit here waiting. Every point that
- 31:40Speaker 2: you make.
- 31:40Speaker 1: You don't trust Fauci? He's been in this position for
- 31:42Speaker 1: 30 years. I'm like, yeah, this is the one pandemic
- 31:45Speaker 1: he's dealt with. He's 0 for 1. What the hell
- 31:48Speaker 1: else has he done for 25 years? He got rich.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I could have done it. When nothing happens, it's an
- 31:54Speaker 1: easy job.
- 31:56Speaker 8: Oh, Brett, we cannot say that one in the chat.
- 32:00Speaker 8: We cannot repeat that one. All right, we've got to
- 32:03Speaker 8: take a break.
- 32:04Speaker 2: We're overdue. We've got to take a break. We'll do it.
- 32:06Speaker 2: We'll be back. More OTB.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Off the bench.

- 33:45Speaker 9: Girl i was the one who gave you your first
- 33:49Speaker 9: kiss because i remember girl i was the one who
- 33:52Speaker 9: said put your lips like this even before all the fame.
- 33:58Speaker 8: And all right welcome back in otb here live from
- 34:01Speaker 8: the raising king studio over the ball over the ball
- 34:06Speaker 8: otb route over the ball what it is We'll quiz
- 34:11Speaker 8: Taylor later.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Don't worry.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Got three ball numbers in here. We'll see what Taylor
- 34:17Speaker 2: knows later on.
- 34:18Speaker 5: It's not impressive when Taylor does it.
- 34:21Speaker 1: That's true.
- 34:22Speaker 5: She's like coach or something. Calls games.
- 34:26Speaker 1: He does call games.
- 34:26Speaker 2: He does call games. That's true. But I don't know that.
- 34:28Speaker 1: We got Jackson Hester.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you do. I'm going to be.
- 34:32Speaker 8: I'm actually going to be at the board of supervisors
- 34:36Speaker 8: dinner with an air pod and listening to Tay Tay
- 34:38Speaker 8: call the game.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 34:40Speaker 10: Hey, what's the best team you've called this year, you think,
- 34:43Speaker 10: in high school?
- 34:45Speaker 2: Probably Rummel.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Honestly, you high, Rummel. Week one, yeah. That's good. Yeah,
- 34:48Speaker 1: it was really good.
- 34:49Speaker 8: Rummel, I mean, they had a great game with Carr
- 34:52Speaker 8: this weekend. I knew you were on that call. So,
- 34:55Speaker 8: Rummel's probably the second best team in the state.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Who's the best quarterback you've seen play?
- 35:01Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean, probably Kiffin and Osmeyer. They got a
- 35:07Speaker 12: lot of good QBs in North Louisiana.
- 35:08Speaker 2: That I don't get to see.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Right, right, right. And then a lot just been out
- 35:11Speaker 1: most of the year. You had some quarterback news from
- 35:14Speaker 1: up in Evangeline. Oh, yeah.
- 35:16Speaker 8: Pop Houston, who's committed to LSU. I don't know what
- 35:18Speaker 8: his injury is, but I know he's got an injury.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I think shoulder maybe. It's not serious. I don't think.
- 35:23Speaker 2: But he's out. And so who's stepping in? Brock Berlin's son.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Yeah. My hero.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:33Speaker 1: What's his name?
- 35:34Speaker 2: Big news.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Little Berlin. All right.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Brock's son. I don't know. Brock, too.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Also, Jack Grace, Country Day. Really good QB.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Oh, he's got some crazy stats.
- 35:44Speaker 12: He set the Louisiana single game record, nine touchdown passes.
- 35:48Speaker 12: And then the game that I called he had seven.
- 35:51Speaker 10: He was a weekend winner. The game that I called
- 35:53Speaker 10: he had seven. It looks like it's Briggs Berlin.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Briggs Berlin.
- 35:56Speaker 5: That's a good name.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Briggs Berlin.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Briggs and Brock Berlin. See you, Briggs.
- 36:01Speaker 10: If he's not in a shotgun and lined up nine
- 36:04Speaker 10: yards behind the center, I'm going to.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Be That's what Brock did.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he was.
- 36:10Speaker 10: Brock would literally throw the ball like 15 yards behind
- 36:12Speaker 10: the line of scrimmage.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Yeah, he would because we couldn't block anybody.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Three for 300 against John Tyler. First half.
- 36:22Speaker 8: Briggs Berlin, who's class of 2030, has already got an
- 36:25Speaker 8: offer from Houston.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he does.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Has he even thrown a ball? I don't know.
- 36:30Speaker 2: He's got an offer.
- 36:31Speaker 1: He's a freshman?
- 36:32Speaker 2: He's a freshman.
- 36:33Speaker 1: It's an arm. I mean, it's like a race to
- 36:34Speaker 1: see who can get their name in first, isn't it?
- 36:36Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 36:37Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Cause he's also behind pay to Houston.
- 36:39Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 36:39Speaker 1: So he's like, hadn't played.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:42Speaker 10: We really liked your middle school film though. Your dad
- 36:44Speaker 10: was good. Your dad was good.
- 36:46Speaker 1: We respect.
- 36:47Speaker 10: Like that's something I would do because you know, one
- 36:50Speaker 10: of my heroes.
- 36:51Speaker 12: Well, I mean, a lot of those kids though, they
- 36:53Speaker 12: get like, like, okay. Do you remember the Kyle Trask
- 36:55Speaker 12: story Matt, when he was in Florida, Kyle Trask never
- 36:58Speaker 12: started a game in high school. The Eric King was
- 37:01Speaker 12: the starter and they ran the option. But they'd be
- 37:03Speaker 12: up by so much, they'd let Trask come in, throw
- 37:06Speaker 12: it around in mop-up.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Time, and, I mean, he lit it up. He was
- 37:09Speaker 1: kind of like the Matt Castle of college. Kind of, yeah. So, like,
- 37:12Speaker 1: there's a chance this kid does the same thing.
- 37:14Speaker 9: All right.
- 37:17Speaker 1: The Matt Castle thing's wild, too. Never started again.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Played a long time.
- 37:22Speaker 1: He did. Cowboys signed him over, man.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I'm in the Cowboys.
- 37:29Speaker 8: All right, real quick, because I do want to mention
- 37:31Speaker 8: something here, but I also want to remind you that
- 37:32Speaker 8: it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month here in October. And
- 37:37Speaker 8: Ochsner Health reminds you that early detection can save lives.
- 37:40Speaker 8: Many breast cancers show no symptoms and are found through
- 37:44Speaker 8: routine mammograms. So women at average risk should begin their
- 37:48Speaker 8: annual screenings at the age of 40, while those at
- 37:51Speaker 8: higher risk may need to start a little bit earlier.
- 37:54Speaker 8: So don't put off a screening that can make all
- 37:56Speaker 8: the difference Schedule your mammogram today through the MyOshner app
- 38:00Speaker 8: or visit Oshner.org.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Oshner Health, where health leads.
- 38:06Speaker 1: What's up?
- 38:07Speaker 2: Dude.
- 38:09Speaker 1: What's going on? Shout out to Michelle. I got us
- 38:11Speaker 1: these sausage fries.
- 38:12Speaker 4: I went to go get them, and I brought them
- 38:15Speaker 4: in here, and I said, Matt is going to smash this.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I'm halfway in.
- 38:19Speaker 8: I do reads for McDonald's on SiriusXM.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Shout out, Michelle. Thank you.
- 38:24Speaker 2: The Monopoly thing.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Game? Yeah. Oh, yeah. You won food, it says. You
- 38:31Speaker 1: won food? That's it?
- 38:32Speaker 5: Oh, I have one.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Mine is you earned a chance card. I got a chance.
- 38:38Speaker 5: I won a million dollars.
- 38:40Speaker 2: What?
- 38:40Speaker 5: I'm just kidding.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Look at the taxes on that. Flip that puppy.
- 38:43Speaker 5: $ 250?
- 38:43Speaker 1: It wasn't even worth it.
- 38:44Speaker 5: I wouldn't be able to give y'all anything.
- 38:46Speaker 10: Have y'all seen that documentary? I think it's on Netflix,
- 38:52Speaker 10: The Monopoly, the McDonald's Monopoly.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Scandal.
- 38:56Speaker 1: There was a scandal back in the day.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Yeah, there was. It was good.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Probably harder to do that now. Yeah, probably so.
- 39:01Speaker 6: No, but.
- 39:01Speaker 2: That's why you have to scan it in the app now.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Actually, never mind.
- 39:05Speaker 4: What?
- 39:06Speaker 5: I was going to bring up the guy in the Congo,
- 39:08Speaker 5: but we should probably like.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I do want to hear about him.
- 39:11Speaker 5: They haven't heard from him in over 16 hours.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Shut up. With Starlink and everything?
- 39:16Speaker 5: With Starlink and everything.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Now, I haven't checked since the first hour of the show,
- 39:22Speaker 4: but they haven't heard from him.
- 39:23Speaker 2: In a while.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Hippo got him for sure. Hippos are dangerous.
- 39:27Speaker 2: The anaconda got him.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I've seen the movie, like, come from the book, Congo. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 39:33Speaker 5: The gorillas.
- 39:34Speaker 1: The gorillas.
- 39:35Speaker 8: I do have, when we come back, I do have
- 39:37Speaker 8: a funny story about a guy that you and I
- 39:39Speaker 8: went to battle against a couple times.

- 39:42Speaker 8: I got a story about that and a funny quote
- 39:44Speaker 8: that he had, a little teaser. We'll have that for

- 40:55Speaker 5: Wednesday's show is brought to you by Poncho.
- 40:57Speaker 1: But I got something to tell you.
- 41:01Speaker 9: Listen.
- 41:02Speaker 11: See the thing about you. My eye is the same
- 41:08Speaker 11: thing that makes me change my mind. Kind of hard
- 41:13Speaker 11: to explain, but girl, I'll try. You need to sit down,
- 41:19Speaker 11: this may take a while. See this girl, she sort
- 41:24Speaker 11: of looks just like you. She even smiles just the
- 41:29Speaker 11: way you do. All right.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Welcome back in. A little R & B Wednesday here
- 41:48Speaker 2: on OTB.
- 41:51Speaker 8: I mentioned a funny quote from somebody that you and
- 41:54Speaker 8: I had a couple of battles against, and it is
- 41:56Speaker 8: Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes.
- 41:58Speaker 11: Okay.
- 41:58Speaker 2: You know. Habitual line crosser under the pile.
- 42:02Speaker 5: Wait, the dude with no neck? Is that who I'm
- 42:04Speaker 5: thinking about? No, I'm thinking of someone else.
- 42:07Speaker 1: He might not have had a neck.
- 42:08Speaker 2: That's Gordy.
- 42:09Speaker 6: True.
- 42:10Speaker 2: This is Brandon Spikes, Florida linebacker.
- 42:13Speaker 8: He was on Bustin' with the Boys with Will and Taylor,
- 42:18Speaker 8: and they were asking him about his days in Florida.
- 42:20Speaker 8: He had a quote, I took an effing pay cut
- 42:24Speaker 8: when I left Gaines, Vegas. Oh, talking about his time
- 42:32Speaker 8: there with Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators.
- 42:35Speaker 1: He's a mean-looking dude.
- 42:37Speaker 8: I think he was saying that he got a couple
- 42:38Speaker 8: dollar-dollar bills under the table there, a little pre-NIL-NIL.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Gaines Vegas, hadn't ever heard that before.
- 42:45Speaker 1: That's one more reason not to like the Gators. Pretty funny.
- 42:48Speaker 8: And again, see, this just made me mad that I
- 42:51Speaker 8: never even got the offer to turn down anything.
- 42:53Speaker 10: I wanted to get paid illegally so bad. Never was
- 42:57Speaker 10: offered the opportunity.
- 42:58Speaker 2: We were balling on a budget.
- 43:01Speaker 1: I'm not saying nobody did.
- 43:02Speaker 8: When I say that, I literally never one time, not
- 43:07Speaker 8: even remotely close, had anybody ever come to me.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Look, I started for four years.
- 43:13Speaker 10: I didn't even have the opportunity to do the right thing.
- 43:16Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 43:17Speaker 1: It was not given to me.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I wanted the opportunity.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I don't know if I would.
- 43:20Speaker 2: I don't know what I would have done.
- 43:21Speaker 12: Well, like for you, you were back up for a
- 43:24Speaker 12: number of years. You could have left. It's like they
- 43:27Speaker 12: didn't even give you anything to stay.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Nowadays, pfft. They were like, yeah, don't let the door
- 43:32Speaker 1: hit you. And you were like, no, guys, I'm serious.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I'm leaving. They're like, all right, see you. You're like,
- 43:38Speaker 1: you know what?
- 43:40Speaker 2: I'm going to stay.
- 43:41Speaker 8: You would have got broken off in your situation, like
- 43:44Speaker 8: Jamarcus leaving, you being there. They would have paid you
- 43:47Speaker 8: all the money to stay.
- 43:48Speaker 1: You wouldn't even have had to have played.
- 43:49Speaker 12: You could have left the year before, and you wouldn't
- 43:52Speaker 12: have had to have played.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Tens of hundreds of dollars.
- 43:55Speaker 2: No, you'd have got a lot.
- 43:58Speaker 1: But guess what?
- 43:59Speaker 10: I did get that $ 450 scholarship check every month.
- 44:02Speaker 8: The only thing, like, sometimes we get, like, the person, like,
- 44:07Speaker 8: out at a dinner would take, like, 20% off the
- 44:09Speaker 8: bill for us. So we were basically, like, our NIL
- 44:12Speaker 8: was a coupon booklet.
- 44:14Speaker 1: But then when they did that, you have to, like,
- 44:15Speaker 1: look around, make sure there wasn't a compliance officer.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Yeah, they, like, knock, like, 20% off your bill.
- 44:20Speaker 1: You see the guy sitting at a table behind you just... Hmm.
- 44:24Speaker 1: What's that bill say? Why did you get a discount? And, like, honestly,
- 44:28Speaker 1: we're not above it. We would have taken the money, probably.
- 44:33Speaker 1: You would have, for sure.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you would definitely.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Have done it.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Just kidding, guys.
- 44:38Speaker 6: Just kidding.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I don't even know.
- 44:39Speaker 10: Like, it wasn't even a thought process of mine. I
- 44:41Speaker 10: was a S-bird 18-year-old, just went to my prom, showing
- 44:48Speaker 10: up in college.
- 44:48Speaker 1: It's like, I didn't even think about it. Yeah. It
- 44:51Speaker 1: wasn't even a thought process.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Okay, so I asked George.
- 44:56Speaker 4: I'm like, how much NIL money do you think Matt
- 44:59Speaker 4: Flynn and Jacob Hester would be worth in today's NIL climate?
- 45:03Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 45:04Speaker 4: So for Matt, I feel like this is pretty respectful
- 45:07Speaker 4: of both of you, but I don't know. I don't
- 45:11Speaker 4: know how y'all feel about it. For Matt, it was
- 45:13Speaker 4: one and a half to two and a half million.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 45:16Speaker 5: For you, it was half a million to 900,000. I
- 45:21Speaker 5: feel like that's pretty good.
- 45:22Speaker 1: For a non-quarterback, that's actually, even nowadays, it's not bad.
- 45:25Speaker 8: All right.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 45:28Speaker 2: I think I'm worth a million, but whatever.
- 45:30Speaker 5: They put you at almost a million.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay, wait, but they said Hester could realistically push
- 45:36Speaker 4: a million, particularly after a season like 2007.
- 45:39Speaker 5: Yeah. Flynn's value would climb toward three million if LSU,
- 45:44Speaker 5: if you were to enter the transfer portal.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Like if you were to be like, I'm going to
- 45:48Speaker 4: enter the transfer portal, it would go up to like
- 45:50Speaker 4: three million.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why every kid shouldn't. It's free transfer every year.
- 45:55Speaker 1: They're going to allow you to do it.
- 45:56Speaker 10: Like if you were in the NFL and you were
- 45:58Speaker 10: allowed to be an unrestricted free agent every year.
- 46:01Speaker 2: You would do it.
- 46:01Speaker 12: What about Jaden Rashad?
- 46:06Speaker 1: I remember he's at his third school and he got
- 46:07Speaker 1: all the money from Florida. We're supposed to.
- 46:09Speaker 4: George thinks that Flynn would get the bigger paycheck if
- 46:12Speaker 4: y'all were like to enter the portal and LSU was
- 46:14Speaker 4: trying to keep you, but Hester would get a bigger
- 46:16Speaker 4: emotional reaction from the fan.
- 46:18Speaker 5: Base if he tried to leave. I feel like that's
- 46:20Speaker 5: pretty accurate.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good.
- 46:22Speaker 2: It's good.
- 46:23Speaker 5: Okay, George, you got this one right.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Say George.
- 46:25Speaker 5: What does Claude say?
- 46:27Speaker 1: George doesn't think the fans like me.
- 46:28Speaker 5: We were pitting them against each other.
- 46:30Speaker 2: You're from Texas, bro. All right, hour three.
- 46:33Speaker 5: Off the bench.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Where are we going to be in two days, Matthew?
- 46:39Speaker 6: Rouses.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Which one?
- 46:41Speaker 1: The grocery store. Over there on Burbank.
- 46:43Speaker 2: What's across the street?
- 46:46Speaker 1: Burbank and what was it?
- 46:48Speaker 6: Is it?
- 46:49Speaker 2: It's Lee. It's Lee at that point. I know it changes.
- 46:52Speaker 2: It kind of confuses. But it's Burbank and Lee.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Brightside?
- 46:56Speaker 8: Brightside, Lee, college. Burbank and Lee is the one we're
- 46:59Speaker 8: going to be at. We'll be there the entire show.
- 47:01Speaker 8: Come hang out with us. And also, while you're there,
- 47:04Speaker 8: you can eat breakfast. You can grab lunch. You can
- 47:06Speaker 8: grab your pre-made meals, like your tailgating packages, for your
- 47:10Speaker 8: watch party for LSU and Auburn or for the Saints.
- 47:14Speaker 2: The Pittsburgh Steelers, both those early risers. But it's okay.
- 47:18Speaker 8: They got you covered, so you don't have to worry
- 47:19Speaker 8: about it. Go to rouses.com. Also, you can go pick
- 47:23Speaker 8: up some MyHide there at your local Rouses. Any Rouses
- 47:27Speaker 8: that's going to be available to you. A lot of
- 47:28Speaker 8: different things. But find that location that's convenient for you
- 47:31Speaker 8: at rouses.com.
