Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: And the world of rules in gray areas, One morning
- 0:04Speaker 1: show dares to ask the hard questions.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Is it illegal for a child to wear that much makeup?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Is it legal? I understand, I understand it's funny as
- 0:12Speaker 2: all get out.
- 0:13Speaker 3: But is it even legal? On Big ninety eight point seven,
- 0:17Speaker 3: summer is almost over, which means we still have a
- 0:20Speaker 3: little time to settle a very important question, Angie, is
- 0:24Speaker 3: it legal to spray someone with a garden house?
- 0:28Speaker 4: Oh?
- 0:30Speaker 3: Well, apparently you know you can't just walk around the
- 0:33Speaker 3: FM area blasting people with fire or with a hose,
- 0:37Speaker 3: excuse me, a garden hose like you have a backyard
- 0:40Speaker 3: water park.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Okay, North Dakota doesn't really have.
- 0:43Speaker 3: A specific like garden hose law, neither does Minnesota. But
- 0:47Speaker 3: intentionally spraying somebody could potentially cross a line into a
- 0:52Speaker 3: fences like assault or disorderly conduct, depending on the situation.
- 0:56Speaker 3: So if your neighbor is really annoying you and you're thinking,
- 0:59Speaker 3: you know what would solve this, this garden hose, well,
- 1:03Speaker 3: you might want to think twice. Apparently I was just
- 1:06Speaker 3: trying to cool them off. Is not necessarily a great
- 1:09Speaker 3: legal defense. And this I kind of think about this,
- 1:12Speaker 3: like if you have maybe some kids who are just
- 1:14Speaker 3: riding their bikes around in your yard or something, and
- 1:16Speaker 3: you're like, get off my lawn, and you want to
- 1:18Speaker 3: spraym with the garden hose to maybe deter them from
- 1:21Speaker 3: doing that. Again, well, you can't do it, or you
- 1:24Speaker 3: probably shouldn't do it. Enjoy this summer, enjoy your garden hose, responsibly,
- 1:30Speaker 3: water the flowers.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Water the lawn. Just maybe don't water your neighbor.
- 1:33Speaker 5: I guess you just have to think how litigious are
- 1:37Speaker 5: these people.
- 1:38Speaker 3: How much do they really want to spend to get
- 1:40Speaker 3: over this garden hose situation? And it looks like we
- 1:47Speaker 3: do have our girl Duaba, which we do know it's
- 1:51Speaker 3: not her real.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Name, yeah now, but it's just stuck. Yeah for a girl.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Daba on the phone, Duaba, what's up?
- 1:57Speaker 6: It's good. Congratulations gave on the maybe.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Oh, thank you very much.
- 2:02Speaker 6: I was I was just going to tell you that's
- 2:04Speaker 6: good to know about that law because my husband just
- 2:08Speaker 6: we were just talking this morning. We have neighbors that
- 2:11Speaker 6: the kids like to run through our yard.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah yeah, yeah, broke.
- 2:15Speaker 6: Grass and he's trying to grow grass, like he just said.
- 2:17Speaker 6: This morning, He's like, I'm trying to figure out if
- 2:19Speaker 6: I could drew a rig a launch sprinkler to just
- 2:22Speaker 6: pop up when they walk through, or like.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Well, you know what, I think that gives you plausible deniability.
- 2:29Speaker 3: That's exactly the type of situation I was thinking about
- 2:32Speaker 3: with spraying someone with the garden holes. I was like, Hey,
- 2:35Speaker 3: you just have some kids kind of screwing around in
- 2:37Speaker 3: the neighborhood. Maybe it's a fun, friendly way to tell
- 2:39Speaker 3: them to get off the grass or whatever.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I would not do it.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Not do it.
- 2:43Speaker 6: Okay, I'll come my husband.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Not to do about then, unless you know, maybe if
- 2:47Speaker 3: they're family, friends, kids or something, you'd.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Probably we don't know them, they don't, we don't like them.
- 2:52Speaker 3: They oh definitely don't do it.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Little victories.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Every morning we practiced gratitude on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 3:05Speaker 5: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 3:08Speaker 5: basket jump busted out when it was someone's acting hard.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Sure your little victories with us at seven oh one
- 3:14Speaker 1: two eight oh one ninety eight.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Seven, kids, I also needed to win that day, all right, Angie.
- 3:19Speaker 3: You gave me a little heads up that this was
- 3:21Speaker 3: like the smallest little victory ever.
- 3:23Speaker 2: A lot of time but you wouldn't tell me what
- 3:25Speaker 2: it is, so I need to know.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:27Speaker 5: You know the old adage a watched pot never boils.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Oh sure, yeah, quite literally. I watched the pot until
- 3:35Speaker 5: it boiled.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Really, yeah, I don't have the patience.
- 3:38Speaker 5: I was surprised that I had the patients, but I
- 3:41Speaker 5: was really trying to make some ramen and I the
- 3:47Speaker 5: I set the pot on the stove, I turned it
- 3:50Speaker 5: up to high, and I just sat there and watched it.
- 3:53Speaker 5: I don't know what possessed me. Yeah, but I really
- 3:56Speaker 5: did just stand there. And then halfway through watching it
- 4:00Speaker 5: ended up being like five minutes five minutes to.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Kick the clock.
- 4:04Speaker 5: But halfway through I realized, oh my gosh, I'm watching a.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Pot boil or try to boil.
- 4:11Speaker 5: So then I was committed to the bit in my
- 4:13Speaker 5: own home and I watched it until it boiled. And
- 4:16Speaker 5: then I looked at Mike and I said I that
- 4:18Speaker 5: I watched pot does boil, and he said, that should
- 4:21Speaker 5: be your little victory tomorrow.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds like you did you know the that'll
- 4:26Speaker 3: it's kind of that old saying if you're not around
- 4:29Speaker 3: to hear it or whatever, and a tree falls in
- 4:31Speaker 3: the woods, doesn't make a sound. Yeah, well, it turns
- 4:33Speaker 3: out it likely does make a sound. Because Angie watched
- 4:36Speaker 3: this pot boils. You dispelled that potential miss exactly.
- 4:39Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know how those correlate, but I'm
- 4:41Speaker 4: gonna go with it. That's fine.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just saying they're kind of in the same
- 4:45Speaker 3: realm or something along those lines. Also, do you know
- 4:48Speaker 3: one way you could potentially get that pot to boil
- 4:51Speaker 3: a little bit faster when you're making ramen? Yeah, tossing
- 4:54Speaker 3: like a little bit of salt. I did do that,
- 4:56Speaker 3: did you?
- 4:56Speaker 5: Oh?
- 4:57Speaker 4: Yeah, see, there you go. I did because I wasn't
- 4:59Speaker 4: fully paid.
- 5:00Speaker 3: So yeah, watching water boil is like watching grass grow. Yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 3: it's kind of the same exact thing.
- 5:09Speaker 4: So, you know, my personal life is really fun and exciting.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you had an awesome Wednesday. It sounds like.
- 5:16Speaker 3: My little victory is my daughter Kaylee is starting to
- 5:20Speaker 3: get a lot more control over her neck.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Oh nice.
- 5:23Speaker 3: It's kind of fun watching her do a little tummy
- 5:26Speaker 3: time or when you're holding her and she can kind
- 5:28Speaker 3: of keep her head like balanced or held up for
- 5:31Speaker 3: longer periods of time, which I know everyone you know
- 5:34Speaker 3: talks about the first steps or their first words, or
- 5:37Speaker 3: the first day of school, or all these massive milestones
- 5:40Speaker 3: that babies have. I am waiting for her to be
- 5:43Speaker 3: able to control her neck so I can use two
- 5:46Speaker 3: hands when it's my turn to feed her, because she
- 5:48Speaker 3: gets sit down her head up straight.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Now, that is a huge milestone.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Actually, yeah, that's the one I'm looking forward to the most.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I'll tell you right now. On the way, we've got
- 5:57Speaker 2: Olivia Dean.
- 5:57Speaker 3: We also have your tea coming up next here, Happy Thursday.
- 6:01Speaker 3: We are getting closer and closer to the weekend with
- 6:03Speaker 3: Big ninety eight point seven. We are back at it
- 6:13Speaker 3: with Beyond Realty and Big nine eight seven dot com
- 6:16Speaker 3: is we are a Big nine eight seven excuse me,
- 6:18Speaker 3: just the radio station, not the website. But we are
- 6:22Speaker 3: back at it where we want to try to help
- 6:24Speaker 3: out teachers. I know this time of the year is
- 6:27Speaker 3: very exciting, maybe a little nerve wracking for your kiddos
- 6:30Speaker 3: getting ready to go back to school. They're excited to
- 6:33Speaker 3: see who's in their class. They're excited to see and
- 6:35Speaker 3: hang out their teacher and get that learning underway. But
- 6:39Speaker 3: teachers are also feeling those exact same emotions. I would
- 6:42Speaker 3: guess excited a little bit nervous ready to take on
- 6:46Speaker 3: this school year, and we want to try to help
- 6:48Speaker 3: out the teachers who are going to be dedicating so
- 6:51Speaker 3: much of their time to your kiddos.
- 6:53Speaker 5: Yeah, here's the thing, The sad fact of the matter
- 6:56Speaker 5: is that teachers don't always get all of the resources
- 6:59Speaker 5: they need to make sure that their classroom is fully
- 7:02Speaker 5: stocked and ready to educate our future. The future of
- 7:07Speaker 5: America is quite literally the students, and so we want
- 7:09Speaker 5: teachers to be well stocked with all the supplies they need,
- 7:12Speaker 5: and just it doesn't always happen. So we want to
- 7:16Speaker 5: help with Beyond Realty clear some of these carts. So, teachers,
- 7:20Speaker 5: today is your last day to submit your Amazon classroom
- 7:25Speaker 5: shopping list to Big nine eight seven dot com.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Submit that wish list.
- 7:30Speaker 5: And then we will take over and leave it to
- 7:34Speaker 5: you the listener.
- 7:35Speaker 4: And of course Gabe and I are going to do.
- 7:37Speaker 5: This too, to clear some carts. Okay, So teachers, submit
- 7:41Speaker 5: your Amazon classroom shopping list right now, head to Big
- 7:44Speaker 5: nine eight seven dot com, click on the big clear
- 7:47Speaker 5: the cart colorful graphic thanks to Beyond Realty, and we
- 7:51Speaker 5: want to make sure that you get all of the
- 7:53Speaker 5: resources all of the supplies you need to make it
- 7:55Speaker 5: an excellent school year.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of attributed to so like Angie and
- 7:59Speaker 3: I who work here Big nine eight seven dot com.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Imagine if we came into the studio every day and
- 8:03Speaker 3: had to like buy the microphone and buy the Yeah Show,
- 8:06Speaker 3: or if you work at a bank and you had
- 8:09Speaker 3: to I don't know, buy the calculator to do the numbers,
- 8:12Speaker 3: or if you work in construction and you had to
- 8:15Speaker 3: buy the instruction equipment to help fix I ninety four
- 8:19Speaker 3: Ye right, we razy. Yeah, we want to try to
- 8:21Speaker 3: help teachers just make some of that a little bit
- 8:24Speaker 3: easier going into this next school year.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Here's what's beautiful about teachers is that they will come
- 8:30Speaker 5: out of pocket if they need to because their focus
- 8:34Speaker 5: is teaching the kids making sure the kids have an
- 8:36Speaker 5: excellent school year.
- 8:37Speaker 4: So if they don't.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Have what they need, they will come out of pocket,
- 8:41Speaker 5: and it can be really expensive. We did some math.
- 8:44Speaker 5: I live with a teacher. My man is a teacher,
- 8:46Speaker 5: and we did some math on how much he spent
- 8:48Speaker 5: out of pocket his last year of teaching bruh in
- 8:53Speaker 5: the thousands.
- 8:54Speaker 4: So if there's anything that.
- 8:56Speaker 5: We can do to help ease that stress off the teachers. Obviously,
- 9:00Speaker 5: that's what we want to do. So thanks to Beyond
- 9:02Speaker 5: Realty for partnering with us, and thank you to you
- 9:05Speaker 5: who always have hearts for teachers and are happy to
- 9:09Speaker 5: clear the carts. So right now, teachers, submit your link.
- 9:13Speaker 5: We want to get this done for you. Big nine
- 9:14Speaker 5: eight seven dot com.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Summer we have reached August.
- 9:20Speaker 3: You know, summer's kind of winding down a little bit,
- 9:22Speaker 3: which almost feels like I'm swearing here on the radio.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Yeah, but its actually.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Have you been dealing with any mosquito bites this summer?
- 9:32Speaker 3: I will hand up in uh where I live in
- 9:35Speaker 3: South Fargo. I feel like the mosquitoes have really been down.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I know they had talked a lot about doing research
- 9:41Speaker 3: and spraying and and things along those lines headed into
- 9:44Speaker 3: this summer, and whatever they did, at least in my opinion,
- 9:47Speaker 3: has worked.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Where I live same I live where you live.
- 9:50Speaker 5: Not in the same home, obviously, but we're in basically
- 9:53Speaker 5: the same neighborhood. And I will say last year was
- 9:57Speaker 5: a barutal be verry farky mosquito like love me if
- 10:02Speaker 5: they find me, I like get bit up everywhere, arms, legs, backs,
- 10:07Speaker 5: like everywhere, and this year I did still get bit
- 10:10Speaker 5: up a little bit, but not as much as last year.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of the same as my wife if
- 10:15Speaker 3: she gets bit by a mosquito. I mean, it looks
- 10:17Speaker 3: like a welt really really bad. And if you've wondered
- 10:21Speaker 3: why mosquitos maybe ignore some people and completely swarm others,
- 10:26Speaker 3: there are some people who have done some research and
- 10:28Speaker 3: found part of this answer, which I find fascinating. A
- 10:32Speaker 3: study was done on one hundred nineteen adults, so a
- 10:36Speaker 3: pretty solid sample size, and they used three different mosquito species,
- 10:41Speaker 3: all right. They discovered that different mosquitos liked people very differently,
- 10:47Speaker 3: so if one person was attractive to one species, it
- 10:51Speaker 3: didn't necessarily mean other mosquitos were, I don't know, lining
- 10:54Speaker 3: up for lunch.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Okay, so even mosquitoes have.
- 10:58Speaker 2: A time Yeah, exactly. The study foul.
- 11:00Speaker 3: It's our skins, bacteria and the chemicals that we naturally
- 11:05Speaker 3: release that make mosquitos like us the most. And these
- 11:08Speaker 3: specific bacteria and chemicals they kind of just vary depending
- 11:12Speaker 3: on the species. So if you are wondering, like, oh
- 11:15Speaker 3: my god, you know, my husband never ever ever deals
- 11:18Speaker 3: with mosquitos, and I get just torn up.
- 11:20Speaker 2: You're just releasing some good chemicals.
- 11:22Speaker 4: I guess I don't know that I like that. That
- 11:25Speaker 4: makes me feel like am I dirtier.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Than or maybe I'm cleaner.
- 11:30Speaker 5: Or maybe I'm cleaner with something about like sweet blood
- 11:35Speaker 5: or is that just something that people make up?
- 11:38Speaker 3: I think something that people just made up. So sadly, Angie,
- 11:41Speaker 3: No you're not. You're not made of sugar and sweet. Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Researchers are really hopeful that this could develop more targeted
- 11:50Speaker 3: mosquito repellents in the future, instead of kind of relying
- 11:53Speaker 3: on the one size fits all that approach that we use.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I mean, what is it in mosquito?
- 11:58Speaker 5: Is deep?
- 11:59Speaker 3: Yes, that kind of deters mosquitos. Yeah, well it would
- 12:02Speaker 3: be kind of cool. Maybe after this research in the
- 12:04Speaker 3: next couple handful of years, they can find something more
- 12:07Speaker 3: specific per individual. I think this is pretty exciting, especially
- 12:11Speaker 3: when we live where we live, you know, Lakes Country
- 12:14Speaker 3: over in Minnesota, Mosquitos everywhere in North Dakota in the Midwest,
- 12:17Speaker 3: Mosquitos are just way different.
- 12:19Speaker 5: You know what, as we're talking about this, I'm feeling
- 12:22Speaker 5: like itchy, like I got bit while we were sitting here.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Yeah, one thing I also want to ask maybe this
- 12:29Speaker 3: is just where I live, but if you live in
- 12:31Speaker 3: the FM area, let me know if you've noticed this,
- 12:34Speaker 3: if I'm onto something or I'm crazy. Okay, seven h
- 12:37Speaker 3: one two eight zero one nine eighty seven. It seemed
- 12:39Speaker 3: like this summer, you know, we really kind of narrowed
- 12:42Speaker 3: down the mosquitos ye and got them kind of under
- 12:46Speaker 3: control to where it's not unbearable to go outside. Okay,
- 12:49Speaker 3: I will say I have noticed more grasshoppers this year
- 12:54Speaker 3: than I've ever noticed in my entire life anywhere.
- 12:58Speaker 4: That's so funny.
- 12:59Speaker 5: Yeah, there there have been a lot of grasshoppers, so
- 13:02Speaker 5: many What does it happen in cycles or something like cicadas?
- 13:06Speaker 4: You know how cicada? Yeah, maybe I need this information.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And the only reason out and the reason I know
- 13:12Speaker 3: this is, you know, taking my dog and daughter for walks. Yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 3: you know there are little sections that where I'll walk
- 13:18Speaker 3: in South Fargo where there's you know, nothing, and then
- 13:22Speaker 3: there's sections I'm not kidding, hundreds of grasshoppers that as
- 13:26Speaker 3: we kind of walk in on the sidewalk.
- 13:28Speaker 5: They why the grass as Yeah, well they'll see my
- 13:33Speaker 5: dog or the stroller whatever coming along, and they go nuts.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you know, twenty yards down the sidewalk nothing.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Yeah, that is weird.
- 13:44Speaker 5: I don't know, I need the What's does a bugs
- 13:47Speaker 5: life ever explain this?
- 13:48Speaker 2: I'm not sure? But am I crazy?
- 13:50Speaker 3: Have you noticed maybe less mosquitoes more grasshoppers this year?
- 13:53Speaker 3: Or is that just where I live? Seven oh one
- 13:56Speaker 3: two eight zero one nine eight seven. I am glad
- 13:59Speaker 3: that you have no so I'm not just inside except
- 14:01Speaker 3: for I live.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Where you live.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Like a diamond.
- 14:09Speaker 5: I have said a friend, well, actually I'm more friends
- 14:12Speaker 5: with the guy. But he got engaged and so he
- 14:15Speaker 5: and his fiance had a bit of an engagement party
- 14:20Speaker 5: at a bar.
- 14:21Speaker 4: But this was in Chicago.
- 14:23Speaker 5: So part of when I was gone last week was
- 14:26Speaker 5: this road trip to this radio conference, and then on
- 14:29Speaker 5: the way back, because it coincided with the engagement party,
- 14:33Speaker 5: it was like, okay, we'll go to the engagement party,
- 14:37Speaker 5: and so that's what we did. But we were driving
- 14:40Speaker 5: from Cleveland to Chicago, which is about five and a
- 14:44Speaker 5: half hours. We're literally ten minutes away from arriving to
- 14:50Speaker 5: the venue, and I realized.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Oh, we don't have a gift for them, And Mikey said,
- 14:57Speaker 4: I don't know what you want me to do. There's
- 14:59Speaker 4: quite literally know where we can get a gift for them, a.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Gift shop in the bar, right.
- 15:05Speaker 5: So I okay, So then we walk it, because what
- 15:08Speaker 5: were we gonna do?
- 15:09Speaker 4: Not go?
- 15:10Speaker 5: So we walk in, We greet the couple and they
- 15:13Speaker 5: were very you know, happy to see us.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Whatever. We sat down, and so then I.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Started taking stock of everybody that was in the bar
- 15:20Speaker 5: and if they had a gift with them, and so
- 15:25Speaker 5: I feel like I saw a lot of gifts, a
- 15:27Speaker 5: lot of gifts piled on this one table, and I
- 15:29Speaker 5: was feeling so anxious and bad. So then I was like, okay,
- 15:34Speaker 5: well how many of these people contributed those gifts?
- 15:36Speaker 4: Like I don't know.
- 15:37Speaker 5: So then I started watching the door to see as
- 15:41Speaker 5: people walked in if.
- 15:43Speaker 4: They were bringing a gift with them.
- 15:45Speaker 7: And so couple after a couple files in and every
- 15:49Speaker 7: single person had either a gift like in a little
- 15:53Speaker 7: bag or a card that I assume has a gift
- 15:57Speaker 7: in it.
- 15:58Speaker 5: And so I have been telling myself they didn't say anything.
- 16:02Speaker 4: The couple did not say anything.
- 16:04Speaker 2: They probably didn't even know you didn't have a gift.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Well I don't.
- 16:07Speaker 5: They greeted us when we walked in this US super
- 16:09Speaker 5: empty handed. However, I've been telling myself in my head, well,
- 16:15Speaker 5: we drove five and a half hours to be here.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, does that count something.
- 16:21Speaker 2: That's a pretty unique circumstance.
- 16:23Speaker 5: We got there and then they are the ones who,
- 16:26Speaker 5: you know, they paid for the party and there was
- 16:28Speaker 5: like food and drink, So really.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I'd be willing to bet they were just glad you
- 16:33Speaker 3: were able to make it. It's not you live anywhere
- 16:35Speaker 3: near there.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Do you think that I should send a gift?
- 16:39Speaker 3: Now, I'll just hit a little venmo. They'll take some cash.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I'm sure you think that's okay, one hundred person.
- 16:44Speaker 5: I just hit a Venmo because I have never been
- 16:46Speaker 5: engaged in a situation where it was like a proper engagement.
- 16:50Speaker 5: But you have, Yeah, and so you wouldn't be upset, No,
- 16:54Speaker 5: if someone showed up to your no party.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I couldn't care less.
- 16:57Speaker 3: No, you know, I have been to engagement parties and
- 17:00Speaker 3: given gifts. I've been to engagement parties where it's just
- 17:03Speaker 3: a straight cash homie. Yeah, And I think for the
- 17:07Speaker 3: rest of time, I'm gonna just be doing cash for
- 17:09Speaker 3: these things, whether they want it on venmo or a
- 17:12Speaker 3: check or however they want it. The thing about getting
- 17:15Speaker 3: an engagement gift, an actual gift you can hold use.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I just it's risky.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I have seen so many weddings or I know people
- 17:24Speaker 3: personally who have had their weddings like called off in
- 17:27Speaker 3: the past year and a half. So here, you buy
- 17:30Speaker 3: this couple a really nice toaster oven, and then all
- 17:33Speaker 3: of a sudden they aren't living together. Who keeps the
- 17:35Speaker 3: toaster of in I don't want to put more stress
- 17:38Speaker 3: on you know, who gets to keep the kids? And
- 17:39Speaker 3: by the kids, I mean the toaster of it. In
- 17:41Speaker 3: this situation, you can split twenty bucks, you know, you
- 17:45Speaker 3: can't split a toaster of me. Yeah, you're a new
- 17:47Speaker 3: microwave or whatever else a cutting board.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Well, then the other thing is and I'm not going
- 17:52Speaker 5: to assume that Mikey and I are invited to the wedding.
- 17:56Speaker 5: We're fairly new friends with this couple, sure, and they
- 18:01Speaker 5: live far they live in Chicago, So if we don't
- 18:04Speaker 5: get a wedding invitation, that's fine to me. But then
- 18:07Speaker 5: I was thinking, well, I still want to get them
- 18:11Speaker 5: something for hosting us at their engagement, And I thought,
- 18:14Speaker 5: you know, if I could just get the link to
- 18:16Speaker 5: their registry.
- 18:16Speaker 4: But if we're not invited, we don't get a link
- 18:18Speaker 4: to the registry.
- 18:19Speaker 2: That's true.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Oh I guess I'm gonna hit them with the venmo.
- 18:22Speaker 5: What would you do in this situation seven oh one
- 18:25Speaker 5: two eight oh one nine eight seven? Or is it like,
- 18:28Speaker 5: do I just leave this in the past like it
- 18:29Speaker 5: already happened, don't think.
- 18:30Speaker 2: About it again?
- 18:31Speaker 3: Yeah. I think when you get an engagement couple of gift,
- 18:34Speaker 3: an actual tangible gift, it's almost like paying for the
- 18:38Speaker 3: free subscription before your free subscription runs out. You're like,
- 18:41Speaker 3: oh no, I'll just pay you now. You don't even
- 18:43Speaker 3: know if you like that service. You don't know if
- 18:45Speaker 3: that service is going to continue on in the next month.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Hey, that's a good way to look at it.
- 18:55Speaker 3: We had a little bit of a bummer at the
- 18:57Speaker 3: glitten House last night as we discovered that this baby
- 19:00Speaker 3: walker that we were gifted for baby g who you
- 19:05Speaker 3: probably are familiar with hearing that name.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Her name is Kaylee.
- 19:08Speaker 4: But yeah, it's gonna be quite the transition for me.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Right this walker is being recalled because it ended up
- 19:16Speaker 3: being a serious safety risk. All Right, these walkers, they
- 19:20Speaker 3: can pass through standard doorways, They also might not stop
- 19:24Speaker 3: at the edge of stairs, which has created a big risk. Yeah,
- 19:27Speaker 3: the walkers can also allow the child to become trapped.
- 19:31Speaker 3: So over thirteen hundred of these walkers were sold and
- 19:35Speaker 3: parents are being told to stop using them immediately. So
- 19:38Speaker 3: thankfully baby G is nowhere near using a walker. Well,
- 19:43Speaker 3: that's well, it'll it'll get here sooner than i'd probably like, Yeah,
- 19:46Speaker 3: but we don't have to worry about using that, and
- 19:49Speaker 3: we can kind of go a different route now. But
- 19:52Speaker 3: you never know when you buy something on Amazon what
- 19:54Speaker 3: you're gonna get. You know, the pictures always make it
- 19:57Speaker 3: look great, and it always looks super functional and maybe
- 20:00Speaker 3: of decent material.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you get the thing and it ends
- 20:03Speaker 2: up being wonderful.
- 20:04Speaker 3: You're like, yes, this is exactly what I paid for,
- 20:07Speaker 3: or you get it and you're like, oh my god,
- 20:08Speaker 3: I just wasted thirty seven ninety nine.
- 20:10Speaker 4: I have a pile. I have a pile of Amazon things.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Most of them are clothes, and I try to do
- 20:17Speaker 5: my best in terms of like reading the reviews, looking
- 20:21Speaker 5: at reviews that have pictures with them of people wearing
- 20:24Speaker 5: the things. I do my best, but every once in
- 20:26Speaker 5: a while it just doesn't pan out, and there's some
- 20:30Speaker 5: real like material that feels like it was made out
- 20:33Speaker 5: of sand paper, and it's like, why is this a dress?
- 20:35Speaker 4: I don't like this?
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yeah, everyone can be subject to getting dupe on Amazon.
- 20:40Speaker 3: That's one of the awesome things about when you go
- 20:42Speaker 3: to one of your favorite stores here in the FM area,
- 20:44Speaker 3: you can see field touch, put on, try on.
- 20:47Speaker 5: I will always choose a brick and mortar over online
- 20:51Speaker 5: if I am able to.
- 20:53Speaker 3: If you can, yeah, seven oh one two eight zero
- 20:55Speaker 3: one nine eight seven, is there something you bought on
- 20:58Speaker 3: Amazon that didn't turn to be as good as you
- 21:02Speaker 3: have hoped? Now I might be one of the only
- 21:04Speaker 3: people on earth who did not have an Amazon account
- 21:08Speaker 3: until like twenty twenty five.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:10Speaker 4: I remember when you got it, and I thought, bro,
- 21:12Speaker 4: how have you been living?
- 21:13Speaker 5: Thankfully you're with your wife Corey, and so I think
- 21:16Speaker 5: what you just ordered through her account or I ruined
- 21:20Speaker 5: her shopping algorithm? Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 3: I really didn't like buy anything, to be honest, but
- 21:24Speaker 3: if I did, yeah, we'd go with the Corey route.
- 21:27Speaker 3: So I don't have a ton of things for I
- 21:29Speaker 3: don't have really a lot of experience in the buying
- 21:31Speaker 3: off of Amazon. So for the most part, I have
- 21:34Speaker 3: been pretty lucky, but not everyone has. Maybe, like Tessa Tesla,
- 21:37Speaker 3: would you get on Amazon that maybe wasn't as great
- 21:40Speaker 3: as you thought.
- 21:41Speaker 1: A handheld vacuum that had thousands of five star reviews,
- 21:45Speaker 1: yet it couldn't pick up a cheerio.
- 21:47Speaker 2: My dog was way more useful. That would be the worst.
- 21:51Speaker 3: If you think you were a vacuum when you find
- 21:53Speaker 3: a good one, oh.
- 21:54Speaker 4: You got to hang on to that, h hang on
- 21:56Speaker 4: to the wheels fall off.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Yeah, And especially if you were grabbing enough Amazon, maybe
- 22:00Speaker 3: you're thinking, oh, maybe I'm getting a good product for
- 22:03Speaker 3: maybe not a ton of money. Yeah, And when it
- 22:05Speaker 3: turns out to just you know, you can't even pick
- 22:07Speaker 3: up the rocks that are on the ground in your vehicle,
- 22:09Speaker 3: You're like, Wow, this thing stinks, Jake, what about you man?
- 22:13Speaker 4: Probably a mini waffle maker.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I was convinced that I would be making cute little
- 22:18Speaker 3: waffles every weekend, but I used it exactly twice before
- 22:22Speaker 3: it became a permanent resident of the back of my cabinet.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Is this not even just when you order one on Amazon?
- 22:28Speaker 5: You know what happens is every season that changes where
- 22:31Speaker 5: it's like the seasonal. You know whatever, it's Halloween time,
- 22:35Speaker 5: it's summertime, there's always a waffle maker. I have a
- 22:37Speaker 5: waffle maker. I have a mini waffle maker that like
- 22:41Speaker 5: looks like a Christmas star or whatever.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Yeah, use that maybe once? And then I fell for
- 22:47Speaker 4: the trap again. And I didn't even order this online.
- 22:49Speaker 5: I got one that like makes the waffles look like
- 22:52Speaker 5: a spider web.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Okay, is that baby?
- 22:55Speaker 4: Once? Like, it's just not worth it.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Who would have thought if we went to Angie's house.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Angie has just this collection of seasonal.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Way starting off the day with something good. This is
- 23:13Speaker 1: Gabe's Good News on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 23:18Speaker 3: This is one of those stories that reminds you just
- 23:20Speaker 3: how much fun summer can be, especially when you're a kid.
- 23:24Speaker 3: The YMCA of the Northern Sky they recently hosted its
- 23:28Speaker 3: largest Summer Olympics ever, bringing kids together for a day
- 23:33Speaker 3: of games, competition, and plenty of smiles. It gave kids
- 23:37Speaker 3: a chance to be outside, be active, cheer each other on,
- 23:41Speaker 3: and most importantly, just have fun. And this is from
- 23:44Speaker 3: Nicole Rentz, the ym who works with the YMCA of
- 23:47Speaker 3: the Northern Sky, talking a little bit about the event.
- 23:50Speaker 8: Just a day that they can have fun together. It
- 23:54Speaker 8: really just kind of shows everything we've worked towards all summer,
- 23:58Speaker 8: bringing them to all of their field trips and everything else,
- 24:02Speaker 8: and it's it's just a super fun day for them.
- 24:05Speaker 2: And I really love that.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You know, it's not necessarily about the wins and the
- 24:08Speaker 3: losses in the Summer Olympics. It's just about creating summer
- 24:11Speaker 3: memories and things that these kids will have and be
- 24:14Speaker 3: able to talk about for their entire lives. So here's
- 24:16Speaker 3: to the YMCA giving local kids a day to compete,
- 24:19Speaker 3: laugh and make some memories.
- 24:21Speaker 5: What of the ultimate touch grass experience?
- 24:24Speaker 2: That's exactly right.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And if you don't here's my If you don't know it,
- 24:27Speaker 3: here's my favorite quote. The world is full of nice people.
- 24:29Speaker 3: If you can't find one, be one. And never forget
- 24:32Speaker 3: broken crayons. They still color
