- 0:00Speaker 1: Now from the Star Rentals Sports tests your ninety three
- 0:03Speaker 1: point three kJ R FM sports headlines.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Shut out, margin of victory is twenty about its.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Yellis flies out for the second out, and there is run.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Oh a number twenty.
- 0:20Speaker 5: But oh, he threw it out, threw it, threw it out?
- 0:24Speaker 2: He did, he threw it in the book, came to
- 0:26Speaker 2: the bull and he thought it Holland out.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Not a home run. No, it's it out.
- 0:33Speaker 3: But then two bases from the fatals from both and
- 0:37Speaker 3: a runner.
- 0:37Speaker 5: I couldn't figure out where the ball was.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Know it was three outs. He bus he's not having
- 0:43Speaker 4: any fun.
- 0:44Speaker 6: With this, and the sacrificial run.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Yellis dissenter.
- 0:50Speaker 7: Julio is there and he makes the catch and Julio
- 0:54Speaker 7: threw the ball into the seats.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Julio threw the ball into the seats.
- 1:00Speaker 8: That was the second out.
- 1:05Speaker 4: It's so.
- 1:10Speaker 9: The runners are going to advance two bases, which will
- 1:14Speaker 9: score another run.
- 1:16Speaker 10: And this just adds to a miserable night here in Milwaukee.
- 1:20Speaker 10: The two errors of the last sitting, the throw over
- 1:23Speaker 10: the over second base, Naylor dropping a routine throw.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Yeah, Ice is ross, and look, you know who's the
- 1:32Speaker 4: fans management? I had a long inning. How many outs around?
- 1:38Speaker 6: You're hurting your minds in a different place?
- 1:41Speaker 4: Where was it just looking out of headlines? Brought to
- 1:47Speaker 4: you by Frostburg Corps like choos Chill, like no other,
- 1:50Speaker 4: Rich falt Ryan Roland Smith, the Maritors TV call at
- 1:55Speaker 4: the end. Before that it was Brian Anderson and the
- 1:58Speaker 4: Brewers TV call. At least risch Waltz knew how many
- 2:02Speaker 4: outs they were absurd that stupidity made it twenty one nothing,
- 2:07Speaker 4: twenty one nothing. Brews went for two. They won twenty
- 2:10Speaker 4: two nothing over the Mariners. Last night they sorry twenty
- 2:13Speaker 4: two to nothing. Twenty two run margin surpassed the Seattle's
- 2:17Speaker 4: previous worst defeat at twenty one one lost to Houston
- 2:20Speaker 4: in twenty nineteen. It tied the largest shutout victory in
- 2:24Speaker 4: MLB's modern era since nineteen hundred. Pittsburgh won twenty two
- 2:29Speaker 4: ohn of the Cubs in nineteen seventy five. Cleveland won
- 2:31Speaker 4: twenty two nil over the Yankees in two thousand and four.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Mariners tried only won nothing. Entering the fit, Bryce Miller
- 2:38Speaker 4: retired nine straight. Then manager Dan Wilson mismanaged the bullpen again,
- 2:43Speaker 4: left him in to place Yelich. Yelich hit a three
- 2:46Speaker 4: run homer often while he had two lefties in the
- 2:47Speaker 4: bullpener to go against Yellich, who had hit two home
- 2:50Speaker 4: runs all year against left handers. But that's no what
- 2:53Speaker 4: he did. Miller gave up the three run bombs, six nothing,
- 2:56Speaker 4: and then the wheels came off. With Leo Revas pitching
- 2:58Speaker 4: the bottom of the eighty about nine runs, nine heads,
- 3:00Speaker 4: seven singles to double in a home run. He was
- 3:03Speaker 4: throwing thirty seven miles an hour. I think my dog
- 3:06Speaker 4: throws thirty seven miles an hour. Absolutely embarrassing, no other
- 3:10Speaker 4: way to put it. Not professional. No, our fans waited
- 3:13Speaker 4: fifty years for this. They deserve better than this.
- 3:17Speaker 6: It was rough.
- 3:19Speaker 4: It's not even professional baseball. Seadd's four games behind Houston
- 3:23Speaker 4: for first place in the AOS. The trash Cans have
- 3:25Speaker 4: lost three in a row. He have three games out
- 3:27Speaker 4: of the wild card race. I don't think that matters
- 3:29Speaker 4: at this point. Thirty six games remained two game two
- 3:31Speaker 4: of the Milwaukee series. They have to play it tonight.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Logan Gilbert starts and attempts to not give up twenty
- 3:36Speaker 4: two runs. The Seahawks most eventful practice of the preseason yesterday,
- 3:40Speaker 4: three perfect practices or perfect throws and been perfect practice
- 3:45Speaker 4: almost from Sam Darnold, but man it he have some
- 3:48Speaker 4: three really deep perfect but he couldn't have dropped the
- 3:50Speaker 4: ball into Rashisha Heed's hands any better. Josh Job jumped
- 3:54Speaker 4: to Shaheed's slant for a pick six, Jake Bobo made
- 3:57Speaker 4: a diving catch in the end zone, and Monty Foster
- 4:00Speaker 4: yet again one handed catch with his left arm in
- 4:02Speaker 4: the back corner of the end zone past rookie but
- 4:04Speaker 4: Clark Tory Horton did not practice again. Mike McDonald said
- 4:07Speaker 4: two days ago his second year wide receiver who had
- 4:09Speaker 4: surgery in February to fix his crack shin his quote,
- 4:12Speaker 4: working through some things. Third episode of Hard Knocks their
- 4:16Speaker 4: last night on HBO. We'll talk about that. The news
- 4:18Speaker 4: of it. The news of it is that John Snyder's
- 4:21Speaker 4: pursuit of Terry on Arnold had some details last night
- 4:24Speaker 4: that made it a little clearer. We'll talk about that
- 4:26Speaker 4: NFL joint practice is equal fights. We know that we're
- 4:29Speaker 4: gonna see it Friday when the Seahawks and Titans do
- 4:31Speaker 4: it in Nashville. I'll be there telling you all about it.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Yesterday in Oxnard, California. The Saints and Cowboys had a
- 4:36Speaker 4: big fight. Punches thrown, helmets tossed. At one point, Saints
- 4:40Speaker 4: tight end Brock Reshteiner, son of the WWE Hall of
- 4:43Speaker 4: Famer Stott Skyner, grabbed a Cowboys player body slammed into
- 4:48Speaker 4: turf like he was off the top rope punches. ESPN
- 4:52Speaker 4: dot coms Catherine Terrell, Saints reporter, said the situation between
- 4:56Speaker 4: the two teams heated enough to Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer
- 4:59Speaker 4: and Saints coach Kevin We're discussed whether it even continued.
- 5:01Speaker 4: They did tonight the Sounders in Austin, FC down at
- 5:05Speaker 4: the Stadium and Soto six point thirty start the Sounders
- 5:07Speaker 4: trying to break a franchise record seven game losing streak
- 5:10Speaker 4: in MLS play. Now on with the Wednesday Show Today,
- 5:15Speaker 4: It's gonna be a short light one before they get
- 5:16Speaker 4: on a plane and go to Nashville, Tennessee. I'm headed
- 5:19Speaker 4: there this afternoon. I'll be broadcasting from Tennessee Tomorrow, Friday
- 5:24Speaker 4: and Monday. Friday is the joint practice beween the Seahawks
- 5:27Speaker 4: and the Titans in the second preseason game there in
- 5:29Speaker 4: Nashville on Sunday night, just when McIntyre is back at
- 5:31Speaker 4: the La Bay Studios in downtown Seattle. Good morning, ma'am,
- 5:34Speaker 4: good morning.
- 5:36Speaker 6: I'm jealous of you.
- 5:37Speaker 4: I know. It is a nice day. It's beautiful, breeze,
- 5:41Speaker 4: pretty idyllic. The national TV audience got to see that
- 5:44Speaker 4: again last night at the Hard Knocks. They featured Seattle
- 5:46Speaker 4: even more in the Blue Sky and the summer even more.
- 5:51Speaker 4: My son, twenty three years old, born in Berkeley, raised
- 5:53Speaker 4: here in Seattle, was watching. He goes, Wow, it's a
- 5:56Speaker 4: pretty cool place to live, right. I know Seattle has
- 5:59Speaker 4: its issue, but man, it is beautiful. I mean, it
- 6:02Speaker 4: is naturally beautiful. And when I get back from Nashville
- 6:06Speaker 4: on Monday night, I'm gonna say, man, I'm glad I'm
- 6:07Speaker 4: back here in Seattle, Washington.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Yeah, you're gonna be hot.
- 6:11Speaker 11: Great, You're gonna be center landlocked situation, probably with humidity
- 6:16Speaker 11: as well.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Ninety eight degrees two days ago with eighty five percent
- 6:20Speaker 4: humidity in National Tennessee. It's gonna be a little cooler
- 6:22Speaker 4: than that, eighty seven, eighty eight in the practice on Monday.
- 6:27Speaker 4: For Friday, they do it in the morning. Tennessee time
- 6:29Speaker 4: ten am to noon. They're gonna go ones versus ones.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Gray is Able talked yesterday about how much the Seahawks
- 6:34Speaker 4: are looking forward to that, and this will be the
- 6:36Speaker 4: most extensive work that these starters do. We thought that
- 6:40Speaker 4: maybe Terry on Arno could get there in time to practice,
- 6:43Speaker 4: and the Seahawks thought he'd be able to practice this preseason.
- 6:46Speaker 4: That is now off the table. We'll talk about that
- 6:48Speaker 4: during the show, and we'll talk about the pursuit of
- 6:51Speaker 4: Terry on Arnold. As Hard Knocks revealed last night, a
- 6:53Speaker 4: really interesting scene of the agent Nicole Lynn for Terry
- 6:57Speaker 4: on Arnold calling John Schneider in that conversation. We'll replay
- 7:02Speaker 4: that and let you hear that conversation. A little peak
- 7:05Speaker 4: behind the curtain there. Ten forty five here from Julian Love,
- 7:08Speaker 4: the safety, the veteran. He's a player representative in labor
- 7:12Speaker 4: issues as well. He talked about their defense and this
- 7:17Speaker 4: preseason and going ones against ones in Tennessee and how
- 7:22Speaker 4: much he and the defense looking forward to that. First
- 7:23Speaker 4: time since the Super Bowl, they're going against the starting
- 7:26Speaker 4: unit against somebody on Friday at eleven o'clock. Brady Russell
- 7:31Speaker 4: I just walked into this story. Yesterday after the show,
- 7:34Speaker 4: I talked to Brady Russell and I just threw in
- 7:37Speaker 4: a line of Hey, how's Mary life. I knew he
- 7:38Speaker 4: got married recently. He said, we just had a baby
- 7:43Speaker 4: two days ago, and I'd seen his wife out here
- 7:46Speaker 4: very very very pregnant. She was, in fact, over two
- 7:49Speaker 4: weeks overdue. And he has a story about the birth
- 7:53Speaker 4: of the child and him playing in a preseason game
- 7:56Speaker 4: Saturday night last Saturday night while his wife was going
- 7:59Speaker 4: in labor. She was actually in labor during the game. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 4: and he found out during halftime on his phone, and
- 8:07Speaker 4: he this is a very interesting story. He tells he
- 8:10Speaker 4: and the Seahawks already had an evacuation plan for him
- 8:13Speaker 4: to get out of the game. He left at halftime.
- 8:16Speaker 4: That was a police car waiting for him.
- 8:18Speaker 11: Which is so I mean, just look at this organization
- 8:21Speaker 11: and how it continues to operate to take care of
- 8:24Speaker 11: players like that.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I would wonder what they would do if that
- 8:27Speaker 4: was a regular season game, or rather he would have played.
- 8:30Speaker 4: He started the game knowing she was in having contractions,
- 8:34Speaker 4: but she has had contractions previously, because as I said,
- 8:37Speaker 4: she was two weeks overdue, and so he went ahead
- 8:40Speaker 4: and played with the with the idea that if he
- 8:44Speaker 4: got the contractions became close together fathers and mothers know
- 8:48Speaker 4: what I'm talking about, then that he would cut bait
- 8:51Speaker 4: and get out of there. And that's what happened, and
- 8:52Speaker 4: that's what he did. And he'll tell the story about
- 8:54Speaker 4: eleven o'clock, a preseason game like no other. They'll also
- 8:57Speaker 4: tell the funny story about who he met his wife
- 9:00Speaker 4: other of his child. Kobe Parkinson gets a hat tip
- 9:03Speaker 4: for that. We'll talk about that story.
- 9:05Speaker 6: I can't wait for you guys to hear it.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I told Jesse after the interview, and I sent
- 9:09Speaker 4: the audio tourists and check this out. Good stuff. Your
- 9:15Speaker 4: cover cross you'll hear that eleven eleven thirty, your text
- 9:17Speaker 4: and talkbacks, and that the Kumodads text line four nine
- 9:19Speaker 4: four five one before Ian Fornesz joins me to talk
- 9:22Speaker 4: about what he's got on the show from twelve until three,
- 9:24Speaker 4: and then Dave Softy Mahler and the gang takeover from
- 9:27Speaker 4: three until seven. First question for the talk black line,
- 9:33Speaker 4: I'm the Mariners. I'm not even sure what question to ask.
- 9:36Speaker 11: Are we at the apathy point? I think that's the
- 9:39Speaker 11: question I would ask.
- 9:41Speaker 4: That's a good question, Jesse Maine. Let's ask that, are
- 9:44Speaker 4: you to the apathy point where I don't care? Bring
- 9:47Speaker 4: up Kate Anderson, bring up a arroyo, bring up Las
- 9:49Speaker 4: Monte's roll out the kids if they lose twenty the
- 9:53Speaker 4: next thirty games. So what let's go, let's start over?
- 9:58Speaker 4: Is that? Is that where you're at four or five one?
- 10:01Speaker 4: How Another question I would have for you is how
- 10:03Speaker 4: much money do you want back as a season ticket holder?
- 10:06Speaker 4: How about refunded? Like you should get a re instead
- 10:09Speaker 4: of paying the go to Marina games rest of the year.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Marrin fans should get paid for what they just went
- 10:13Speaker 4: through watching that last night and not to mention the
- 10:16Speaker 4: entire season and losing five to the last six on
- 10:19Speaker 4: the last Homestand I was talking to Chuck this morning
- 10:22Speaker 4: about it, and I was joking that my wife had
- 10:25Speaker 4: just turned on part of the game and said, how
- 10:27Speaker 4: come a major league team can run out of pictures?
- 10:29Speaker 11: Oh?
- 10:32Speaker 6: They just stop it, Yeah, they just stop using yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 4: And and Chuck said, well, every team does it. Well, yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 4: of course, Chuck, every team does do that. Not twice
- 10:41Speaker 4: in a week and a half. They did it on
- 10:44Speaker 4: the last homestand.
- 10:45Speaker 6: They did I get it.
- 10:51Speaker 4: I've covered ball, I've been a beat writer. Yes, it
- 10:54Speaker 4: happens every season. Somebody has to wear it. A middle infield,
- 10:58Speaker 4: utility infilter comes in to close out, to blowout so
- 11:01Speaker 4: they don't have to use up arms. Yes, but not
- 11:03Speaker 4: twice in a week and a half.
- 11:04Speaker 6: No, it's not for a team that is right now.
- 11:07Speaker 4: That's just absurd. Twice in a week and a half,
- 11:11Speaker 4: For a team that's supposed to be contending for a
- 11:14Speaker 4: World Series having to use utility players and outfitters as
- 11:17Speaker 4: pitchers twice in a week and a half. Twice in
- 11:20Speaker 4: a season is a lot, But twice in a week
- 11:23Speaker 4: and a half, broken man, broken from the top on down. Broken.
- 11:29Speaker 4: For your roster to be that poor and put yourself
- 11:32Speaker 4: in that situation, not only this, jess Man, I was
- 11:34Speaker 4: thinking about this this morning. The Mariners are eight games
- 11:37Speaker 4: under five hundred in one of the worst American leagues ever.
- 11:41Speaker 4: So are they actually worse than that? Their team is
- 11:45Speaker 4: probably worse than their record because they're in a league
- 11:48Speaker 4: that they should be beating teeth, that the league's terrible,
- 11:52Speaker 4: and they're eight games under five hundred in this league.
- 11:54Speaker 4: This year. That means they're about.
- 11:56Speaker 11: Being served, under served up on a platter. Oh man,
- 12:01Speaker 11: it really was. And with this pitching staff, I just
- 12:03Speaker 11: feel like for the last decade I've been saying this,
- 12:07Speaker 11: with this pitching staff, they should be winning and they
- 12:12Speaker 11: just aren't.
- 12:13Speaker 4: They're run differential, one of the indicators of expected wins
- 12:16Speaker 4: and all these other advanced stats. They're run differential since
- 12:19Speaker 4: the first week of August. Was first week August, it
- 12:22Speaker 4: was minus four. It's now minus forty eight. Now twenty two.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Nothing will add to that run differential quite a bit.
- 12:29Speaker 4: But they've gone minus forty four in two weeks. In
- 12:34Speaker 4: two weeks and the crux of the season that they're
- 12:36Speaker 4: supposed to be contending and pushing for playoffs, but minus
- 12:39Speaker 4: forty four, come on, man, Yeah, there's a failure of
- 12:44Speaker 4: leadership from the top. Fine, we're seeing the example in sports,
- 12:49Speaker 4: and there's an example in all walks of life and
- 12:50Speaker 4: other businesses and careers where talent, you have talent without leadership.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Twenty twenty six Mariners talent lack of leadership. And I'm
- 13:00Speaker 4: talking leadership from the very top of the organization, the ownership.
- 13:04Speaker 4: I'm talking about the president of Baseball operations. I'm talking
- 13:07Speaker 4: about the general manager, I'm talking about the field manager,
- 13:09Speaker 4: and I'm talking about the players in the damn clubhouse.
- 13:11Speaker 4: The lack of leadership from the top, I mean very top,
- 13:16Speaker 4: all the way into the dugout, all the way into
- 13:18Speaker 4: the clubhouse, absolutely subverting the talent this team has. This
- 13:22Speaker 4: example what happens when you don't have leadership with your talent.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Example of leadership with talent. I'm sitting at their team
- 13:28Speaker 4: headquarters right now, Super Bowl champion Seahawks. I don't know
- 13:33Speaker 4: that we can see in a city right now in
- 13:36Speaker 4: professional sports in North America that has that dichotomy among
- 13:39Speaker 4: two major sports franchises berift of leadership with talent the Mariners,
- 13:45Speaker 4: abundance of leadership with talent in the Seahawks, and exactly
- 13:49Speaker 4: polar opposite results. It's striking to cover both these teams.
- 13:55Speaker 4: To be here on a daily basis with the Seahawks
- 13:57Speaker 4: and then see example upon example upon example of the
- 14:00Speaker 4: lack of leadership with the Mariners, it's just jarring that
- 14:05Speaker 4: these two teams can even coexist in the same city.
- 14:09Speaker 4: I mean, we talked about Depoto throwing the twenty year
- 14:12Speaker 4: old shortstop under the bus, last week publicly yet another
- 14:15Speaker 4: example of failure of leadership. What is Simpson doing on
- 14:19Speaker 4: the roster let alone in the game in August? I mean,
- 14:23Speaker 4: is he a major league pitcher? On top of ruckers?
- 14:24Speaker 4: He a major league pitcher? Well, God was through the ball,
- 14:29Speaker 4: through the ball ten feet over second base. Josh Naylor
- 14:33Speaker 4: just dropped, I mean just dropped a throw to first base.
- 14:37Speaker 4: And then Julio Rodriguez. I want to give hats off
- 14:40Speaker 4: to Julio Rodriguez for how far that throw into the
- 14:43Speaker 4: stands was. He didn't just toss that into the bullpen.
- 14:46Speaker 4: He threw that up damn near Benny the Brewers chalet.
- 14:50Speaker 4: That was like the top top. Did you notice where
- 14:52Speaker 4: that throw handed?
- 14:53Speaker 11: Jes Well, it's funny because on the we played two
- 14:56Speaker 11: calls at the top of the show and one of
- 14:57Speaker 11: them said he threw it into the bullpen, and no,
- 15:00Speaker 11: he did not.
- 15:01Speaker 6: Did not throw into six level dans.
- 15:04Speaker 4: I mean a catwalk.
- 15:09Speaker 11: I mean, that's why he's a center fielder, because he
- 15:12Speaker 11: has that arm.
- 15:13Speaker 6: Oh no, that was that was just rough.
- 15:15Speaker 11: That was just if if fans feel apathy, what that
- 15:20Speaker 11: showed is that the players did at that point too
- 15:23Speaker 11: or at least he did in that moment.
- 15:25Speaker 6: That was apathy.
- 15:26Speaker 4: And I get it that he had been out in
- 15:28Speaker 4: the field for whatever it was forty minutes watching a
- 15:31Speaker 4: utility infielder from Triple A to Comba throwing an inning.
- 15:34Speaker 4: I get that, and watching nine hits and nine runs.
- 15:37Speaker 11: I just wanted to get out of there. And in
- 15:40Speaker 11: his mind it was three mounds and they're done. I
- 15:44Speaker 11: kept me out of here.
- 15:45Speaker 4: But if there was ever a play that is so
- 15:48Speaker 4: symbolic of a franchise and a team and the season,
- 15:51Speaker 4: it's that one. I mean, that was twenty two. I
- 15:57Speaker 4: don't know why the Brewers had to tech on the
- 15:58Speaker 4: two point conversion at the end, but they did. Oh man,
- 16:02Speaker 4: I mean and then you know what else, just when
- 16:05Speaker 4: Friday night, Fireworks night, the Cubbies are in town, there'll
- 16:09Speaker 4: be forty two thousand people in the park.
- 16:12Speaker 11: Well that comes back to what you have said all along,
- 16:16Speaker 11: is that do they Yeah, I mean, they do care.
- 16:19Speaker 6: They do care what the investment hasn't been there.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Do they?
- 16:23Speaker 11: The agency did not get They sure are making money.
- 16:27Speaker 6: I'll give you that one.
- 16:28Speaker 11: But you know, the free agency market did not have
- 16:32Speaker 11: exactly what they needed this year.
- 16:35Speaker 6: But man, this has been rough.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Rob Reschnier Free into MARKETA had that. But yeah, there'll
- 16:41Speaker 4: be forty three two in the park Friday night and
- 16:44Speaker 4: they will. It'll be a profitable night at the yard
- 16:47Speaker 4: for the Mariners, and they're putting this product out. It
- 16:50Speaker 4: just again, it's the car dealership, the best car dealership
- 16:54Speaker 4: in the world, with some of the worst cars. The
- 16:56Speaker 4: whole reason you go in there is it is broken.
- 17:00Speaker 4: It's just it is and fifty years of this and so.
- 17:03Speaker 6: Yeah, for the historical part of it.
- 17:06Speaker 11: I understands people's anger, but that's anger still means you care.
- 17:12Speaker 6: But I that's why I asked that question. Are you
- 17:15Speaker 6: at apathy.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Four coming totch texsign. We're already getting a flood of
- 17:19Speaker 4: questions or comments about that question that jess Win just posed. Man,
- 17:25Speaker 4: I just don't know where else to go with that.
- 17:26Speaker 4: That's so embarrassing.
- 17:28Speaker 11: Next, that's a football game, and that's also a bad
- 17:32Speaker 11: football game.
- 17:33Speaker 4: That's a bad twenty two nil, twenty two nothing. It's
- 17:36Speaker 4: my friend Farharan last he said, twenty two nil makes
- 17:38Speaker 4: it sound better than it was twenty two I thinks
- 17:40Speaker 4: sounds even worse.
- 17:42Speaker 11: Well, twenty two nil would indicate a soccer game where
- 17:45Speaker 11: the other team didn't show up.
- 17:49Speaker 4: I just and we know it's coming. Remember we said
- 17:51Speaker 4: last night, Oh, they're starting to left hander. He's ninety
- 17:54Speaker 4: three and a sub three r they're not scoring, but
- 17:57Speaker 4: twenty two. Yeah, and Bryce Miller was. He had nice
- 18:01Speaker 4: shut down. He shot down nine in a row, even
- 18:03Speaker 4: into the fifth. He wobbled a little bit early and
- 18:07Speaker 4: then he just stayed in too long. Kristin Yelich doesn't
- 18:10Speaker 4: hit left handers all that well, especially not for power two.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Left his warman in the bullpen.
- 18:15Speaker 6: The stats were in their favor.
- 18:18Speaker 4: You got a major league closer Jose Ferre in the bullpen,
- 18:21Speaker 4: ready for Yelli's in the game, still in hand or
- 18:24Speaker 4: still close enough, three nothing at the time, and manager
- 18:27Speaker 4: Dan Wilson stays with his starting pitcher, Bryce Miller, who
- 18:30Speaker 4: by the way, is just not the same as he
- 18:33Speaker 4: was even in the middle of the summer. No, no,
- 18:35Speaker 4: he's not. And at this point, what would it stopped
- 18:38Speaker 4: there or why shouldn't they bring up Kate Anderson, put
- 18:41Speaker 4: him in the rotation and send Bryce Miller to the
- 18:43Speaker 4: bullpen to get these three and four innings that they
- 18:45Speaker 4: often have to go to the bullpen for before they
- 18:47Speaker 4: can even get the munios in the ninth What would
- 18:49Speaker 4: be the harm in that Miller has some success the
- 18:52Speaker 4: first and second times through batting orders, but middle of
- 18:56Speaker 4: the game on third time through the order curtains. So
- 19:00Speaker 4: to bring him in for one time or two times
- 19:02Speaker 4: through a batting order for two innings and three innings
- 19:05Speaker 4: and your bridge gap bullpen issue that has been a
- 19:09Speaker 4: problem since the season began, and bring Katy Anderson up
- 19:12Speaker 4: to be the new starter for him. What at this
- 19:14Speaker 4: point is the matter? You're gonna just keep trotting this
- 19:16Speaker 4: stuff out for the next thirty some games.
- 19:18Speaker 6: I don't think that that will put butts in seats.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Well, what are we trying to do here? Are we
- 19:26Speaker 4: trying to win a World Series? Are we trying to
- 19:27Speaker 4: have out dogs from Eaven putting down on forty two
- 19:30Speaker 4: thousand heads. That's really the bottom line.
- 19:32Speaker 11: Yeah, it's tough, and I think that your point that
- 19:35Speaker 11: it is on the players at this point kind of
- 19:38Speaker 11: rings true. At this point, I just use the word
- 19:41Speaker 11: point way too many times. Sorry, but it just rings
- 19:44Speaker 11: true that it is on the players. They have to
- 19:48Speaker 11: perform and they just obviously didn't last night.
- 19:52Speaker 6: We ll be professional, right, Yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 4: I mean a professional performance. Please, Like, don't throw the
- 19:57Speaker 4: ball into center field from the comeback of them out,
- 20:00Speaker 4: don't drop a throw to first base, don't throw a
- 20:02Speaker 4: ball into the six hundred level. It's only two outs
- 20:05Speaker 4: instead of three. I don't it's not that much to
- 20:08Speaker 4: ask a major league player, let alone one who makes
- 20:12Speaker 4: two hundred plus million dollars, to not throw the second
- 20:14Speaker 4: out into the six hundred level.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Yeah, oh wow, how long he is? That was bad.
- 20:18Speaker 4: That was real bad. That will go down in Mariner infamy. Infamy.
- 20:22Speaker 4: That will be that will last. That's gonna be lasting
- 20:25Speaker 4: a long time. That'll last longer than manager Dan Wilson
- 20:28Speaker 4: does in his job. I'll say that. Up next, the
- 20:31Speaker 4: Seahawks pursuit of taraon Arnold. Speaking of infamy, that's not
- 20:34Speaker 4: exactly glorious. His agent's phone called it, John Schneider, that
- 20:38Speaker 4: sealed the agreement. Yet they don't have a deal signed.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Now that he don't have a deal sign, they're probably
- 20:43Speaker 4: not going to for a couple of weeks. I'm gonna
- 20:45Speaker 4: explain why that is, and you'll hear from John Schneider
- 20:48Speaker 4: and Tara o 'arnold's agent and their conversation they had
- 20:51Speaker 4: about getting this agreement done. That's next on ninety three
- 20:54Speaker 4: point three KJRFM. Hi, welcome back. I'm at the Seahawks
- 21:10Speaker 4: training camp preseason practices number twenty one today. It's a
- 21:14Speaker 4: light one morning practicing and it started hearing about twenty
- 21:18Speaker 4: minutes or so. Next to lake watching beautiful sunny day.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Robert Turbin, former Seahawks running back, is next to me.
- 21:24Speaker 4: He's on the Serious XM Training Camp Preview Training Camp
- 21:29Speaker 4: Tour show today. He's also college football innist. I was
- 21:32Speaker 4: talking to him. I covered Robert Turbin when he was here.
- 21:34Speaker 4: He was Russell Wilson's roommate on the road at the
- 21:38Speaker 4: start of runnyes Well.
- 21:39Speaker 6: He was Yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Wilson talked about that quite a bit and Russell Robert
- 21:43Speaker 4: Turbin's influence on him, the running back. I was talking
- 21:46Speaker 4: to Robert Turbin. He is an analyst for the CW
- 21:48Speaker 4: on Mountain West, Big Twit, Pac twelve and some acc
- 21:53Speaker 4: college football games again this fall. Was talking to about
- 21:56Speaker 4: that one PostScript about twenty two to nothing last night
- 21:59Speaker 4: and Codify the baseball statistics side said that the Mariners
- 22:05Speaker 4: threw twenty two pitches last night at under forty miles
- 22:08Speaker 4: an hour, all of them of course by Leo Rivas. Well, yeah, lollipops.
- 22:13Speaker 4: No major League baseball team in history has ever thrown
- 22:16Speaker 4: that many pitches under forty miles an hour in a game.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Because nobody had put in a position player utility infielder
- 22:24Speaker 4: for an entire inning in nine runs before.
- 22:27Speaker 11: Well, yeah, that was kind of one of those odd
- 22:31Speaker 11: situations at best.
- 22:33Speaker 4: The pitch that Julia Rodriguez tossed into the six hundred
- 22:36Speaker 4: level second out was thirty seven miles an hour from
- 22:40Speaker 4: Luisa Rivas, Leo reb excuse me, whatever his name was.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Last night didn't matter, twenty two nothing, Mariners lost to
- 22:48Speaker 4: the Brewers and then glorious defeat. We'll go down and
- 22:51Speaker 4: Mariners have lost a few games, haven't they in fifty years?
- 22:54Speaker 4: But that one yesterday we got you. Last night around
- 22:58Speaker 4: six o'clock, HBO premiered the third episode of five of
- 23:02Speaker 4: the Hard Knocks series of Seahawks' training camp. The defending
- 23:05Speaker 4: Super Bowl champions featured on the NFL Film's annual series
- 23:10Speaker 4: on training camps around the NFL. It's been a really
- 23:13Speaker 4: insightful look places we can't go. It's beat Writers and
- 23:16Speaker 4: Off Limits and John Schneider's office with cameras and John
- 23:21Speaker 4: Schneider in his cameras showing him yesterday on a Treadmiller's
- 23:24Speaker 4: office tred Miller had a little desk attached to it.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Kind of fancy could work. He's on a true Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 11: I have friends that have those that work too, and
- 23:31Speaker 11: they all work for NFL teams. I don't know why
- 23:33Speaker 11: it's so popular within those buildings, but maybe they just
- 23:36Speaker 11: don't like to sit around.
- 23:39Speaker 4: In one of those scenes with John Schneider with the
- 23:42Speaker 4: about a camera in the top of his office, his
- 23:46Speaker 4: cell phone rings and it's Nicole Lynn. Nicole Lynn is
- 23:49Speaker 4: the agent for Terry An Arnold, the free agent cornerback.
- 23:52Speaker 4: The Seahawks have an agreement on a one year contract
- 23:55Speaker 4: four but he has yet to sign it. The agreement
- 23:57Speaker 4: came last week Hard Knocks cameras it he of course,
- 24:02Speaker 4: you know the story. By now facing eight felony charges
- 24:04Speaker 4: related to kidnap, alleged kidnapping, and alleged burglary an incident
- 24:08Speaker 4: in February in Tampa, Florida. He was arrested in charge
- 24:11Speaker 4: in June. The Detroit Lions, who drafted in the first
- 24:14Speaker 4: round and had him as their starting cornerback its first
- 24:16Speaker 4: two NFL seasons. Cut him immediately. He's a free agent.
- 24:20Speaker 4: He's out a one million dollars bond, free to go
- 24:23Speaker 4: wherever according to court order, if it's related to work,
- 24:26Speaker 4: which is why he made the rounds and visiting clubs.
- 24:29Speaker 4: He visited Seattle on a Sunday and by that Thursday
- 24:32Speaker 4: or Friday, they had a deal on a one year contract.
- 24:35Speaker 4: This is how Nicole Lynn spoke to Seahawks general manager
- 24:40Speaker 4: John Schneider about Terry on Arnold, her client on Hard
- 24:44Speaker 4: Knock's NFL film's HBO last night.
- 24:46Speaker 12: Cornerback Terry and Arnold was visiting other NFL teams this week.
- 24:50Speaker 12: The Hawks are still debating whether he'd be a good
- 24:53Speaker 12: fit here.
- 24:55Speaker 8: He's best friends with Terry and Arnold.
- 24:58Speaker 13: Hey, dar them, I would do it was because it
- 25:02Speaker 13: was very shocking, like if you read the athletic article,
- 25:05Speaker 13: it's not good, you know, and.
- 25:08Speaker 7: You would imagine if it was slept will probably do
- 25:10Speaker 7: the same thing here.
- 25:12Speaker 8: I think we probably would have had to let him go.
- 25:14Speaker 7: Yeah, because it's just the nature of like when you're
- 25:17Speaker 7: the team, it's different than the second chance.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's totally different. Yeah, I'll get that.
- 25:23Speaker 8: Like we have always character offerens, like like coach Savan.
- 25:26Speaker 4: We loved them coming out.
- 25:27Speaker 14: Remember that's pretty sure good idea.
- 25:35Speaker 12: Arnold has been on Seattle's radar for a while. They
- 25:38Speaker 12: scouted him two years ago when he was a prospect
- 25:41Speaker 12: coming out of Alabama. Now Schneider was pouring over all
- 25:46Speaker 12: the research he developed at that year's combine.
- 25:53Speaker 5: You got quite sick.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Replaced for him. I wouldn't say that's Saul replace. They
- 26:02Speaker 4: made the spot for me.
- 26:04Speaker 15: It's one of literally, like this is one of the
- 26:06Speaker 15: best Gary music had, like the most fun way.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Yeah, it was awesome.
- 26:10Speaker 8: Gosh, let me go.
- 26:14Speaker 5: That's cool.
- 26:16Speaker 16: Truck trash drawn jump.
- 26:18Speaker 17: I thought I was going to long jump state championship.
- 26:20Speaker 17: The white boy came, he jumped twenty five, said my
- 26:25Speaker 17: high school running deepens about pluming the voluntaria.
- 26:30Speaker 5: No, that's why I went out of mother.
- 26:33Speaker 4: You hear that? Did you in much the next week?
- 26:35Speaker 6: Na, bro, that's why I went that oll down one.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Man, I bal you somebody.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Who refracts the game.
- 26:42Speaker 17: In this game, the beauty of football was carried. They
- 26:46Speaker 17: like they say football bills carried, but it doesn't it
- 26:48Speaker 17: reveals it.
- 26:51Speaker 12: To get a read on Arnold's character, Schnyder is turning
- 26:55Speaker 12: to the people who know him best.
- 26:58Speaker 15: Went Arry in the Yeah, yeah, like all of our
- 27:03Speaker 15: references are amazing.
- 27:06Speaker 16: Did you have a good experience? Is a great kid?
- 27:08Speaker 14: Yeah, I don't.
- 27:10Speaker 16: I mean he was constantly like hanging out the saving
- 27:13Speaker 16: family and stuff.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 16: The first thing I said was Terry On. Yeah, I
- 27:18Speaker 16: don't really know what happened. Yeah, I don't know what
- 27:20Speaker 16: to believe. Really, I heard a lot of different things.
- 27:23Speaker 14: Yeah, but Jalen was like best friends of mine. I
- 27:27Speaker 14: talked to Coach Satums. Coach Satan was like, I I
- 27:30Speaker 14: like his character to Jaln's.
- 27:34Speaker 5: We had a great We had a great visit with him.
- 27:36Speaker 14: He's visiting with the Saints right now, but we're kind
- 27:39Speaker 14: of we're hoping to get him back up. But yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 14: we had a you know, car recruiting him, so I.
- 27:46Speaker 15: Think it would be a good fit. Yeah, yeah, I
- 27:49Speaker 15: really do. He's chatty, Yeah, yeah, he's yeah, Okay, yeah, okay,
- 27:59Speaker 15: thanks John.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Yeah there.
- 28:02Speaker 4: That was John Schneider's Seahaws general manager in the Terry
- 28:05Speaker 4: On Arnold pursuit. Last night on HBO, Hard knocks. The
- 28:08Speaker 4: NFL films a third episode, so filling in the blankstre
- 28:10Speaker 4: That was not the clip of him with his agent
- 28:13Speaker 4: Nicole Lynn calling let's get to the clip you did
- 28:17Speaker 4: here first. That was Jay Harbrough, the special teams coach,
- 28:19Speaker 4: on the practice field on the very first scene, talking
- 28:22Speaker 4: about how the first team when Arnold got in trouble,
- 28:26Speaker 4: has fewer options. You gotta draw a line and where
- 28:30Speaker 4: you stand on that, and the Lions did quickly and
- 28:32Speaker 4: cut him, and the second team, the second chance team,
- 28:36Speaker 4: is a different situation, and that you have the opportunity
- 28:38Speaker 4: as the second team to be somewhat separated from and
- 28:40Speaker 4: give him a second chance. You heard John Schneider in
- 28:43Speaker 4: that clip say something revealing that. Yeah, he inferred that
- 28:47Speaker 4: if Tarryan Arnold had been on the Seahawks when he
- 28:49Speaker 4: was arrested in charge with eight felonies, he would not
- 28:51Speaker 4: have been on a team either and they would have
- 28:53Speaker 4: released him. Yet here the Seahawks are given him the
- 28:56Speaker 4: second chance. That was interesting. Sam Ramsen the second scene
- 29:00Speaker 4: when he said Sammy, come in here, and he was
- 29:02Speaker 4: playing Schnyder the playing the clip of the interview during
- 29:05Speaker 4: the combine, Sam Ramson is the vice player of Player
- 29:07Speaker 4: Performance head trainer for a lot of years, got a
- 29:10Speaker 4: promotion to an executive title with Player Performance. Sam Ramsen
- 29:14Speaker 4: was in on the discussions on two years ago on
- 29:16Speaker 4: whom the draft and they were trying to draft her
- 29:19Speaker 4: or thinking of drafting tarry On Nold in the first round.
- 29:21Speaker 4: The Lions did twenty fourth overall. And then the last
- 29:23Speaker 4: scene in Snyder's office was with Robbie Ootz, who was
- 29:27Speaker 4: tarry On Arnold's college teammate at Alabama, the full back
- 29:30Speaker 4: the Seahawks drafted last year out of Alabama. And you
- 29:33Speaker 4: heard him at Oots say I'm really surprised. I don't
- 29:37Speaker 4: know how, basically saying I don't know how Arran that
- 29:40Speaker 4: I know got into this. Well, what to believe in
- 29:43Speaker 4: Oots's case? And you also heard John Schneider say that
- 29:46Speaker 4: he talked to coach loose Nick Saban. Nick Saban, of course,
- 29:50Speaker 4: the legendary Alabama coach coached Jalon Milroe, coach Robbie Oots
- 29:55Speaker 4: and coach tarry On Arnold, and John Schneider saying that
- 29:58Speaker 4: he Saban like and Terry Arnold's character to Jalon Milrose
- 30:03Speaker 4: Milroe highly highly respected and regarded character wise son of
- 30:07Speaker 4: a military family, including a father who deployed to the
- 30:11Speaker 4: Gulf Wars for the Navy. Nicole Linn. The agent called
- 30:16Speaker 4: Snyder in a scene we did there there on Schneider's
- 30:19Speaker 4: mobile phone in his office and right off the top
- 30:21Speaker 4: of the agent emphasized the Snyder that our client wanted
- 30:24Speaker 4: to sign with Seattle because of quote the human development standpoint.
- 30:28Speaker 4: This is a long term play. Lynn said, I want
- 30:31Speaker 4: to develop the human Snyder in the episode scene there
- 30:36Speaker 4: agreed with her. The agent said, We're going to make
- 30:38Speaker 4: you a better person, a better player. That's what Snyder
- 30:41Speaker 4: told Lynn. He said he told Terryon Arnold on the
- 30:44Speaker 4: visit to the Seattle Seahawks. What has changed. Well in
- 30:48Speaker 4: the last twenty four hours, the NFL's Lego network is
- 30:52Speaker 4: reporting that as soon as Tarryon Arnold does sign, Commissioner
- 30:57Speaker 4: Roger Goodell will put Arnold on the exemp list. We've
- 30:59Speaker 4: talked to about this. That that is Roger Goodell's ability.
- 31:03Speaker 4: It's a unilateral punishment arm that he has. He doesn't
- 31:07Speaker 4: have to go to a council, he doesn't have to
- 31:08Speaker 4: go to a player's union. He just decides younilatterally when
- 31:11Speaker 4: to put someone on an exemplest and.
- 31:12Speaker 6: For how long he has full discretion?
- 31:14Speaker 4: Yep, right, And that's one of the many things that
- 31:16Speaker 4: the veterans hate about the current CBA. We've talked about
- 31:19Speaker 4: why the CBA passed. It passed because the owners split
- 31:23Speaker 4: the union by raising the minimum salary for the rank
- 31:27Speaker 4: and file of the union by three hundred thousand dollars.
- 31:30Speaker 4: It went from four hundred something to seven hundred and
- 31:32Speaker 4: forty thousand dollars. And because the union is made up
- 31:35Speaker 4: of sixty plus percent of rank and file minimum salary guys,
- 31:38Speaker 4: they all voted for it. The veterans hated it. The
- 31:41Speaker 4: young guys loved it because they got a three hundred
- 31:43Speaker 4: thousand dollars raise. And that is why Roger Goodell still
- 31:47Speaker 4: has these sweeping powers and the veterans hate it. But
- 31:52Speaker 4: the exemple list is yet another example Goodell having unilateral
- 31:55Speaker 4: power in this situation. And the legal network is saying
- 31:57Speaker 4: that Goodell will use it and put terror Arnold on
- 32:00Speaker 4: as soon as he signs. That is not what the
- 32:03Speaker 4: Seahawks are. Remember last week we talked about Joey Lane
- 32:05Speaker 4: saying the vice president of Football Administration saying that he
- 32:09Speaker 4: believed if the Seahawks signed Arnold, he would be able
- 32:12Speaker 4: to play during the preseason, and that is why their
- 32:15Speaker 4: pursuit was hot and heavy in the middle of August. Well,
- 32:18Speaker 4: if he's not going to practice or play in the preseason,
- 32:20Speaker 4: what the heck are they signing him for. They don't
- 32:23Speaker 4: need to sign him now until after the last cuts.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Here's why if they signed tara On Arnold, now he's
- 32:29Speaker 4: going to have to go on to the roster before
- 32:30Speaker 4: he gets off the roster on the exemplest. Once you're
- 32:32Speaker 4: on the exemp list, you're exempt from the roster. You
- 32:35Speaker 4: don't count toward the rust of them. But you can't
- 32:38Speaker 4: get on the exemp list until you're on a roster.
- 32:41Speaker 4: So the Seahawks are thinking, now, if he can't play
- 32:44Speaker 4: or practice in the preseason anyway, why put him on
- 32:47Speaker 4: the roster. Now, let's keep all ninety in the case
- 32:50Speaker 4: ninety one because Federico mirangs is the offensive lineman from
- 32:54Speaker 4: Puerto Rico, the international program in the NFL has giving
- 32:58Speaker 4: the Seahawks a roster exemption for him. So the actual
- 33:00Speaker 4: they have ninety one players in camp. The Sea Ox
- 33:02Speaker 4: thing is, let's keep ninety one players in camp instead
- 33:04Speaker 4: of cutting someone to have to add Arnold. If we
- 33:06Speaker 4: sign him today, we'd have to cut somebody and then
- 33:09Speaker 4: he can't practice. Why are because you're gonna put on
- 33:12Speaker 4: the commissions gonnaut him on an examplest. Let's keep ninety
- 33:15Speaker 4: one players in camp so we can evaluate ninety one
- 33:17Speaker 4: players rather than ninety And it may not sound like much,
- 33:21Speaker 4: but that could be some guy's career, that could be
- 33:22Speaker 4: some practice squad player they signed later in the season.
- 33:25Speaker 4: So they're gonna go ahead through the Kansas City Game,
- 33:28Speaker 4: third preseason game on August to twenty eighth with a
- 33:30Speaker 4: full ninety one man preseason roster, and then after that
- 33:35Speaker 4: game then they may sign. They could still not sign him,
- 33:39Speaker 4: they could decide not to. They would lose face there
- 33:41Speaker 4: and they would burn an agent's trust. But the asumption
- 33:45Speaker 4: now is that they will sign him on August to
- 33:47Speaker 4: twenty ninth, the day after the final preseason game. Why
- 33:50Speaker 4: because August thirtieth is when the cutdown date is for
- 33:52Speaker 4: fit ninety to fifty three, and they will have decided
- 33:55Speaker 4: by the Kansas City game which players they were gonna
- 33:57Speaker 4: cut anyway, and there won't be any more time to
- 33:59Speaker 4: e value there won't be a practice on the twenty ninth,
- 34:01Speaker 4: the day after the road game in Kansas City. You
- 34:04Speaker 4: see what I'm saying. So they they're already gonna know
- 34:07Speaker 4: who the thirty seven guys are, that they're going to
- 34:08Speaker 4: get rid off the roster right and that's when they'll
- 34:11Speaker 4: sign Arnold and then he'll go on the exemplest honor
- 34:15Speaker 4: about August thirtieth. If that's the way it plays out,
- 34:19Speaker 4: If that's still how the Seahawks do now, they could
- 34:22Speaker 4: just totally get out of this and say we're not
- 34:24Speaker 4: going to sign you anymore because you're not going to
- 34:25Speaker 4: be able to play for us. But that is not
- 34:27Speaker 4: what the Seahawks are playing here.
- 34:28Speaker 6: No, it doesn't seem. So the reason why.
- 34:31Speaker 4: This is a long term play for the Seahawks the
- 34:33Speaker 4: long term play for the agent because she wants him
- 34:34Speaker 4: to have a contract, her client to have a contract
- 34:37Speaker 4: beyond whatever the court case is deciding this fall in
- 34:40Speaker 4: Florida for the Seahawks. If tarn Arnold doesn't play this year,
- 34:45Speaker 4: he could be subject to exclusive rights free agency rules.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Players with fewer than four years of service time in
- 34:50Speaker 4: the league can be exclusive rights free agents. Tendered offers
- 34:55Speaker 4: by their team that last had him under contract, and
- 34:58Speaker 4: then you get him at a bar basement exclusive rights
- 35:01Speaker 4: free agency cost next year. They're not signing him for
- 35:04Speaker 4: August fifteenth or twentieth or preseason practices. They're signing him
- 35:10Speaker 4: to put him again on layaway, potentially at the end
- 35:12Speaker 4: of the season, if the Florida courts allow him to play,
- 35:14Speaker 4: and that case goes his way. If he can't play
- 35:18Speaker 4: at all this season, if he's somehow allowed to play
- 35:20Speaker 4: next year, the Seahawks would have exclusive rights to keep
- 35:24Speaker 4: him next year, and they'd have under an exclusive rights
- 35:26Speaker 4: free agent as a former first round pick who's still
- 35:29Speaker 4: only twenty three years old, a starter in this league.
- 35:31Speaker 4: That's rare, an exclusive rights free agent, usually a fringe guy,
- 35:34Speaker 4: undrafted rookie free agent type. They'd have a first round pick,
- 35:38Speaker 4: a starter in this league as an exclusive rights free agent.
- 35:41Speaker 4: If taran onno plays six or more games this year,
- 35:44Speaker 4: somehow gets back in the courts graces and the case
- 35:47Speaker 4: goes his way. If he plays six games for the Seahawks,
- 35:50Speaker 4: they can say they can resign him next year as
- 35:52Speaker 4: a restricted free agent, which again is still pretty low,
- 35:56Speaker 4: but a restricted free agent think Jake Bobo can still
- 35:59Speaker 4: get off for some other teams, the Seahawks would have
- 36:01Speaker 4: a right to match, which they did in case of
- 36:03Speaker 4: jackson Ville and Bobo. And if that makes all sense
- 36:05Speaker 4: that the listeners there, but that is the sausage making
- 36:08Speaker 4: behind the pursuit of Taron know why they're doing it.
- 36:11Speaker 11: It's good for people to understand exactly how that sausage
- 36:14Speaker 11: is made when it comes to this decision and why
- 36:17Speaker 11: they're doing what they're doing.
- 36:19Speaker 6: I think it's good for people to learn exactly.
- 36:23Speaker 4: So he does not account against the roster when he's
- 36:25Speaker 4: on the exemp list, but he does count from the
- 36:27Speaker 4: short time that he gets signed till he gets on
- 36:30Speaker 4: the exemp list, and in that delta the one or
- 36:33Speaker 4: two days, the Seahawks want a max number of players
- 36:35Speaker 4: to evaluate, so they're not going to sign him until
- 36:38Speaker 4: after they're done evaluating, which is after the third preseason
- 36:40Speaker 4: game August twenty eight. That's the bottom line of where
- 36:43Speaker 4: it stands, So don't expect Tarryan Arnold to sign until
- 36:46Speaker 4: August twenty ninth, after euro.
- 36:48Speaker 6: Is at eure Leus. We will see.
- 36:51Speaker 11: This is definitely a wait and watch situation.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Yes, it is, for sure. Up next Julian Love that's

- 43:15Speaker 4: some kind of beef with Julian Love the Seahawks pro

- 43:23Speaker 4: I think it was some podcast, one of the I'm
- 43:26Speaker 4: gonna use the word again, can't you like it? The
- 43:27Speaker 4: other day ubiquitous podcast. There are out in the world.
- 43:30Speaker 6: I just love big words.
- 43:33Speaker 4: And pookin a Coula was saying that Julian Love is
- 43:37Speaker 4: a trash talker on the field and he does not
- 43:39Speaker 4: like him. That goes against Julian Love's notre dame persona
- 43:42Speaker 4: and his off field persona. Julian Love the Seahawks safety
- 43:46Speaker 4: talks about that and about pookin a coup is dislike
- 43:49Speaker 4: for him at the start of this conversation. You'll hear
- 43:51Speaker 4: the next couple of minutes. This was Julian Love yesterday
- 43:54Speaker 4: at Seahawks headquarters.
- 43:55Speaker 23: Are you surprised to hear how much Pook and a
- 43:57Speaker 23: Coua doesn't like you at all?
- 43:58Speaker 11: Or?
- 44:00Speaker 30: Uh, surprise and maybe a little bit but expected division arrival.
- 44:04Speaker 30: We've obviously had some tough games, play hard. Yeah, definitely
- 44:08Speaker 30: funny that he'll he'll name it up me.
- 44:11Speaker 28: Would you say that that's something maybe that's.
- 44:13Speaker 4: Going on with your haircut right I'm looking at it
- 44:16Speaker 4: right now.
- 44:16Speaker 28: When you don't have hair on the top of your head,
- 44:18Speaker 28: you got to get creative, man.
- 44:20Speaker 25: No, would you say that's something that maybe you bring
- 44:23Speaker 25: to the field that that fans maybe don't know about
- 44:26Speaker 25: that Maybe there's a little more edge to your game
- 44:27Speaker 25: than advertised.
- 44:29Speaker 30: For sure, I mean I don't know. I try to
- 44:31Speaker 30: carry myself certainly off the field and on the field.
- 44:32Speaker 30: I'm a competitor. I try to play as tough as
- 44:36Speaker 30: I can, and so yeah, I guess the average fan
- 44:38Speaker 30: probably doesn't know that side of me. These guys in
- 44:40Speaker 30: the locker group know that side of me. They know
- 44:41Speaker 30: I don't like to lose and know I like to compete,
- 44:44Speaker 30: So yeah, it might come out on game news a
- 44:46Speaker 30: little bit more than you guys are used to, but yeah,
- 44:49Speaker 30: that's part.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Of the game.
- 44:50Speaker 6: Given that you guys are going to a joint practice
- 44:52Speaker 6: against the Titans, what makes a joint practice valuable that
- 44:55Speaker 6: you can't replicate in a normal practice.
- 44:57Speaker 30: Yeah, it's a lot of like intentional reps. You're not
- 45:00Speaker 30: just going through kind of a game setting. You're you know,
- 45:02Speaker 30: doing one on ones against these guys. You're doing you know,
- 45:04Speaker 30: third down period like certain like concept periods against them,
- 45:07Speaker 30: but you're going full goal. So it's kind of cool
- 45:09Speaker 30: where you get like intentional work and it's always good
- 45:11Speaker 30: to see other you know ones, so so you can
- 45:13Speaker 30: read to react as me.
- 45:14Speaker 4: It's a dB.
- 45:16Speaker 30: It's nice when you can just like play ball in
- 45:18Speaker 30: a different kind of setting against different people, get some
- 45:20Speaker 30: different tendencies and so we're in a value we're the
- 45:22Speaker 30: ones and the whole team is gonna really take advantage
- 45:25Speaker 30: of these reps because they're important.
- 45:27Speaker 4: You like the one offs racus two to the last
- 45:30Speaker 4: ten year in nationals, the two practices.
- 45:33Speaker 30: Uh, I would I like all the practices that are joint. Uh,
- 45:36Speaker 30: if they can stay in control and we can get
- 45:38Speaker 30: some good can give some good reps. One practice is cool,
- 45:43Speaker 30: I know, travel wise for us, it's it's always kind
- 45:45Speaker 30: of a beast, But I'm cool. Two, three doesn't matter.
- 45:48Speaker 30: I think I really value these joint practice reps.
- 45:50Speaker 4: What do you guys get out of it off.
- 45:51Speaker 14: The field in terms of the team bonding, that extra
- 45:54Speaker 14: time that they row together.
- 45:55Speaker 30: Yeah, I mean, you guys know these these these past
- 45:57Speaker 30: few years kind of with Mike, uh have been really
- 46:00Speaker 30: really like a pivotal point in kind of our our season,
- 46:03Speaker 30: our journey two years ago in Tennessee, last year in
- 46:06Speaker 30: Green Bay, it was kind of the first time everyone
- 46:08Speaker 30: kind of, you know, I don't know, let their hair
- 46:09Speaker 30: down and kind of just enjoy hanging out with each other.
- 46:12Speaker 30: Traveling with the team is always fun. We love traveling
- 46:14Speaker 30: with each other just because it's uh, it's a time
- 46:16Speaker 30: we can just get a break and just be with
- 46:18Speaker 30: each other. And then yeah, just playing against another team
- 46:22Speaker 30: like that kind of competitive space is like is fun.
- 46:25Speaker 30: I think going out to dinner and do the rookie show,
- 46:27Speaker 30: all that stuff is uh, I don't know, it's a
- 46:29Speaker 30: lot of fun. I know, a lot of guys are
- 46:30Speaker 30: really excited about it.
- 46:31Speaker 7: What's the first thing you're gonna be asking Spoon to
- 46:33Speaker 7: help pay for?
- 46:34Speaker 30: Oh my gosh, well, am I not gonna ask him
- 46:37Speaker 30: to pay for? You know, Spoon is incredibly frugal. I
- 46:43Speaker 30: don't know if you guys knew that. He doesn't pay
- 46:45Speaker 30: for anything. If it's free, it's for it's for him.
- 46:49Speaker 30: That's sock shorts, anything that's free. Spoon wil Rock and
- 46:53Speaker 30: not buy a single thing. And so he already said,
- 46:55Speaker 30: oh I got ya, I gotchall this year, you know
- 46:57Speaker 30: with the dB dinners of course, Uh, you know, Christmas
- 47:01Speaker 30: time is a big time. He kind of all the
- 47:02Speaker 30: big money earners do something special, and so he's he's
- 47:05Speaker 30: a lookout. He's uh, he's well loved and he shows
- 47:07Speaker 30: love more than anyone in the building.
- 47:09Speaker 4: So I'm sure he gonna reciprocate them.
- 47:10Speaker 30: We saw the hard knocks Cliff and come in the
- 47:12Speaker 30: locker room after the deal.
- 47:13Speaker 22: Guy, then like, how much do you guys all appreciate
- 47:15Speaker 22: that for each other? When one of youth gets that
- 47:17Speaker 22: big moment of the kind of that big reward, it's.
- 47:19Speaker 30: Uh, it's really cool. It's I don't know, it's really
- 47:22Speaker 30: cool when somebody like you know, has earned it, like
- 47:24Speaker 30: Spoons as much as he's on ten off the field,
- 47:28Speaker 30: and how much you know, how loud he is, kind
- 47:29Speaker 30: of how he talks. He's on ten with being a pro.
- 47:34Speaker 30: He's accountable, he shows up on time, he shows love
- 47:37Speaker 30: to It doesn't matter who the young guys, the old guys,
- 47:39Speaker 30: offensive guys, the huntsive guys, like Spoon is the most
- 47:42Speaker 30: well rounded person in our building. And so when he
- 47:45Speaker 30: gets you know, when this deal gets done, it's like, man, like,
- 47:48Speaker 30: that's it's cool to see it.
- 47:49Speaker 4: You've earned it, like.
- 47:50Speaker 30: We we we love you, care about you, appreciate you.
- 47:52Speaker 30: And same thing with Derek call Early this kind of
- 47:54Speaker 30: year when he got his deal, everyone was just so
- 47:56Speaker 30: happy for him because it was no cloud, no any
- 47:59Speaker 30: other stuff.
- 47:59Speaker 4: It was all earned.
- 48:00Speaker 30: And so Spoon, I mean, he's probably the number one
- 48:03Speaker 30: guy that everyone's like, man, that guy works.
- 48:05Speaker 3: Julian, what role do you see yourself pointing as a
- 48:08Speaker 3: leader in terms of the running forward concept?
- 48:12Speaker 30: Just understand that we're kind of at the the bottom
- 48:13Speaker 30: of the mountain again, that's the idea. We're not starting
- 48:16Speaker 30: at the top. Anymore. This twenty twenty sixth season is
- 48:19Speaker 30: all the new start, and so we're gonna face adversity
- 48:23Speaker 30: and that's okay. That's part of the journey we had
- 48:25Speaker 30: to face. We had to go through some tough stuff
- 48:27Speaker 30: last year to get to where we wanted to go
- 48:29Speaker 30: to and that's gonna happen again. Like that's kind of
- 48:31Speaker 30: a new season. We have new people, the new circumstances.
- 48:34Speaker 30: Everyone has to target on our back and so my
- 48:36Speaker 30: role is just to keep the ship steady. That's kind
- 48:40Speaker 30: of always been my role, just kind of be that
- 48:41Speaker 30: level for us, for us and just I don't wanna
- 48:43Speaker 30: go out there to have fun, make plays and compete.
- 48:47Speaker 4: That's Julian Love yesterday talking about Beef from Poop with
- 48:50Speaker 4: Poop and Koa, his love for Devin Witherspoon, his excitement
- 48:54Speaker 4: for going to Nashville and team bonding and the rookie
- 48:57Speaker 4: talent show they're gonna have in Nashville starting Thursday night
- 49:00Speaker 4: through Sunday night's game second preseason game. The Seahawks in
- 49:03Speaker 4: the last few minutes are signing Trevon Diggs Adam Schefter
- 49:07Speaker 4: to the first report of ESPN, a one year contract
- 49:10Speaker 4: for Trevon dig the former All Pro cornerback with the
- 49:13Speaker 4: Dallas Cowboys All Pro in twenty twenty one. He had
- 49:15Speaker 4: a tryout yesterday here at Seahawks headquarters yesterday morning. It's
- 49:21Speaker 4: a sign that the Seahawks and Mike McDonald not satisfied
- 49:24Speaker 4: with the third cornerback situation in the wake of letting
- 49:27Speaker 4: riqu Woman sign with Philadelphia in the offseason. It's been
- 49:29Speaker 4: ne andm I Pritchett, and lately Noah Igbinoghani, the eight
- 49:34Speaker 4: year veteran Pritchett, the unproven, third year former draft pick
- 49:37Speaker 4: of the Seahawks out of Auburn a few years ago,
- 49:40Speaker 4: that has been the third corner Those two have been
- 49:42Speaker 4: the third cornerback behind Witherspoon and Josh jobas the starters,
- 49:46Speaker 4: and now Trevon Diggs enters that he has not had
- 49:49Speaker 4: a full season since twenty twenty two, which is why
- 49:51Speaker 4: he's available. He only played in eight games last year,
- 49:54Speaker 4: seven of them for Dallas, and then he had a
- 49:56Speaker 4: concussion which was reported to be from a accident at
- 50:01Speaker 4: his home, and those concussion systems lasted for much of
- 50:04Speaker 4: last season. He ended up playing a game at the
- 50:06Speaker 4: end of the season for the Green Bay Packers, and
- 50:09Speaker 4: they signed him on New Year's Eve. He played one
- 50:12Speaker 4: game in early January, and then the Packers released Diggs
- 50:15Speaker 4: and he's been a free agent since. He had a
- 50:17Speaker 4: tryout with the Seahawks. And this is the Seahawks pivot
- 50:21Speaker 4: away from Tara and Arnold not being able to play
- 50:24Speaker 4: when they do sign him. I think Taran Arnold's still
- 50:26Speaker 4: in play for the Seahawks to sign, but more on
- 50:28Speaker 4: a lay away perhaps later in the season and certainly
- 50:30Speaker 4: as a restricted free agent next year if they signed
- 50:33Speaker 4: him this year. And in the meantime, since Arnold can't
- 50:36Speaker 4: get on the field because he got to be on
- 50:37Speaker 4: the exemp list, they turned to Trevon Diggs. So that's
- 50:39Speaker 4: the latest news from the Seahawks. Here at Seahawks headquarters.
- 50:42Speaker 4: They're signing reportedly signing Trevon Diggs. Adam Schefter VFP in
- 50:46Speaker 4: the first report that Diggs, a former All Pro cornerbacker
- 50:49Speaker 4: the Dallas Cowboys, turns twenty eight next month, signing with
- 50:52Speaker 4: the Seattle Seahawks. Up next, Brady Russell very very very
- 50:58Speaker 4: interesting story of his first preseason game. He he is
- 51:01Speaker 4: the father of their first child, a newborn boy, nine pounds,
- 51:06Speaker 4: nine pounds, Not poor woman, wife's a champ. You're gonna
- 51:11Speaker 4: hear the story of how Brady Russell left the Seahawks
- 51:14Speaker 4: preseason game last weekend and got there in time for
- 51:16Speaker 4: his wife to give birth to their first child. A
- 51:18Speaker 4: proud father of now three day old son, Brady Russell's
- 51:22Speaker 4: up next, you'll hear his interesting story to say the
- 51:24Speaker 4: least really remarkable cool stuff Klobe Parkinson out a hand
- 51:27Speaker 4: and introducing him to his wife. You'll hear all that
- 51:30Speaker 4: next on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Now from the Star Rentals Sports Tests. Your ninety three
- 51:45Speaker 1: point three KJRFM Sports Headlines.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Hi from Seahawks Headquarters. Headlines are brought to you by
- 51:51Speaker 4: Frost Brewed Corps Light Choose Chill. The Seahawks are gonna
- 51:55Speaker 4: sign Trevon Diggs, the former All Pro cornerback with the
- 51:58Speaker 4: Dallas Cowboys in twenty twenty one. His last a full
- 52:00Speaker 4: season in twenty twenty two, but been set by injuries
- 52:03Speaker 4: since then. Played only eight games last year, seven for
- 52:05Speaker 4: the Cowboys and one for the Packers. He turns twenty
- 52:08Speaker 4: eight years old next month. He had a tryout with
- 52:11Speaker 4: the Seahawks yesterday This is Seattle's pivot away from tarn
- 52:15Speaker 4: Arnold not being able to play even when he does
- 52:17Speaker 4: sign with the Seahawks if he does sign with the Seahawks,
- 52:21Speaker 4: because he'll be on the NFL's Commissioner's exempt list. So
- 52:25Speaker 4: now Mike McDonald obviously not satisfied with the third quarterback situation.
- 52:28Speaker 4: Themi Pritchett, Noah Igbinogamy have been in that role as
- 52:32Speaker 4: a third quarterback since the Seahawks let riquill And sign
- 52:35Speaker 4: with Philadelphia. Now they turned to Trevon Diggs, a former
- 52:38Speaker 4: All Pro, coming to Seattle on a one year deal.
- 52:41Speaker 4: That's first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefner. The Mariners twenty
- 52:46Speaker 4: two nothing lost to the Brewers. There's not much more
- 52:48Speaker 4: to say about that largest set up picker in the
- 52:51Speaker 4: MP's modern era. It's just gross. We have went through
- 52:54Speaker 4: it too much. Game two of the series is tonight
- 52:57Speaker 4: in Milwaukee because they have to play. That's the rules.
- 52:59Speaker 4: Logan go Obert starts attempts to not give up twenty
- 53:02Speaker 4: two runs. The series' most eventment practice yesterday had Sam
- 53:06Speaker 4: Donald throwing three gorgeous patches and then Josh Job jumping
- 53:09Speaker 4: up and intercepting a Rashita heat slant of Donald's throw.
- 53:12Speaker 4: Jake bobo At diving catching the end zone on Tory
- 53:14Speaker 4: Foster yet again one headed catching the end zone wow,
- 53:18Speaker 4: and again with a catch over Bud Clark. My story
- 53:21Speaker 4: on that is at the News Tribune dot com. Tory
- 53:23Speaker 4: Horton did not practice again yesterday, Mike McDonald said two
- 53:25Speaker 4: days ago his second year wide receivers quote working through
- 53:28Speaker 4: some things. Third episode of Hard Knocks was last night
- 53:31Speaker 4: on HBO. One of the interesting scenes in it the
- 53:35Speaker 4: agent for Terry On Arnold, Nicole Lynn, calling Seahawks general
- 53:39Speaker 4: manager John Schneider. This is how this conversation went.
- 53:53Speaker 20: His calls to the nine teens.
- 53:55Speaker 27: I saw make sure we are one hundred percent, saying.
- 53:58Speaker 11: I should because like little he has so many offers,
- 54:00Speaker 11: and that I feel really good about this situation. From
- 54:04Speaker 11: a human.
- 54:04Speaker 6: Development point, he's as good.
- 54:06Speaker 11: So I just want to triple triple check because he's
- 54:08Speaker 11: about to call them all and tell.
- 54:09Speaker 8: Them he's just waiting. The only thing on just so
- 54:15Speaker 8: you know, when I talked to him, and I'll be like,
- 54:17Speaker 8: you're coming.
- 54:17Speaker 15: In here to fit in, like this isn't like.
- 54:18Speaker 11: Exactly I want all that this is a long term play.
- 54:26Speaker 12: Exactly long term.
- 54:28Speaker 5: Play, Nicole.
- 54:29Speaker 4: I appreciate you reach him back.
- 54:31Speaker 16: I appreciate you reaching back out.
- 54:32Speaker 4: I just want to develop the.
- 54:33Speaker 6: Human, like get a chance to play at some level.
- 54:36Speaker 14: But he knows for sure, no, for sure, but he
- 54:38Speaker 14: knows that right Like he knows he's coming to like
- 54:41Speaker 14: because I'm like that, we're going to.
- 54:44Speaker 13: Make you a better person, a better player.
- 54:45Speaker 6: Like there's a lot okay, all right, as.
- 54:48Speaker 11: Long as there you know he will play and do good,
- 54:50Speaker 11: you know, get to play some whatever.
- 54:52Speaker 5: That looks like, Yeah, I'm not sure, but we don't know.
- 54:56Speaker 5: We don't know how long.
- 54:57Speaker 16: It's going to be, so we'll see exactly thinking out
- 54:59Speaker 16: for I appreciate it.
- 55:03Speaker 4: You back here at Seats preseason, Virginia Mason Athletics Center,
- 55:14Speaker 4: ninety three point three KJR fam with pretty Russell no
- 55:17Speaker 4: mainstay here. What is your fourth camp?
- 55:20Speaker 8: Third camp? Fourth season? You got your week three rookie yars.
- 55:23Speaker 4: So right, what's the same? What's different year over year
- 55:27Speaker 4: over year? New coaching staff, you've been through a change,
- 55:30Speaker 4: you've been through changes offensive coordinators. What's different? What's the same?
- 55:34Speaker 8: Yeah, Uh, scheme is very similar. Which is nice, just
- 55:38Speaker 8: in terms of like naming and stuff. It's the closest
- 55:40Speaker 8: thing I've been to two offenses in a row since
- 55:43Speaker 8: like freshman year or sophomore year of college, I guess.
- 55:46Speaker 8: So it's nice having some consistency in that way. But
- 55:49Speaker 8: what's different is just about everything. We've got a new team,
- 55:52Speaker 8: new similar messaging, but it's new, like everything's new. We
- 55:57Speaker 8: we know it's a new year and it's we're not
- 55:58Speaker 8: the same team, so we need to find our identity
- 56:00Speaker 8: and what we're gonna be this year.
- 56:01Speaker 4: And as somewhat of a new role for you, you're
- 56:03Speaker 4: the busiest man a camp. You're doing tight end, you're
- 56:06Speaker 4: doing fullback, You're doing individual drills with two positions, You're
- 56:09Speaker 4: constantly in motion, You're doing special teams as you always do.
- 56:13Speaker 4: How's that doing all of that?
- 56:15Speaker 8: Yeah, it's great. It's a I feel like what I'm
- 56:18Speaker 8: what I'm good as is my versatility and also in
- 56:21Speaker 8: my mind, like I can think fast and do a
- 56:23Speaker 8: lot of things. So that's I love it, And that's
- 56:25Speaker 8: what I've always dreamed of, is being able to to
- 56:28Speaker 8: do a lot of roles and do them all well.
- 56:30Speaker 4: So do you have a favorite role out of all those.
- 56:33Speaker 8: No, I don't hitting people.
- 56:35Speaker 4: Yeah, run the ball. Run the ball. The tight ends
- 56:40Speaker 4: nature of this offense because you have a tight ends
- 56:42Speaker 4: coach as your coordinator. Now, do you notice that an
- 56:45Speaker 4: emphasis on the tight end more or is that overblown?
- 56:48Speaker 8: I'd say it's overblown. I think he's just just gonna
- 56:51Speaker 8: call whatever, like whatever's gonna get the best what's the
- 56:57Speaker 8: word I'm looking for. Prop It starts with the p product.
- 57:02Speaker 8: Product that's gonna get the best product on the field, Like,
- 57:05Speaker 8: that's the person of all that's going to be in
- 57:06Speaker 8: the game. And that's going to be who's playing. So
- 57:10Speaker 8: whoever's the eleven best, that's what we're gonna see.
- 57:12Speaker 4: I think.
- 57:12Speaker 8: And whether it's tight ends, whether it's receivers, whether it's
- 57:15Speaker 8: so the fullback like whatever that might be.
- 57:17Speaker 4: How interchangeable is the system between tight ends and fullbacks
- 57:20Speaker 4: and can they be? Can a tight end be? When
- 57:22Speaker 4: I asked them how they feel about their full back
- 57:24Speaker 4: depth after Robbie's injury, they said, well, we got guys
- 57:26Speaker 4: who can do both, like you. Is it interchangeable that much?
- 57:29Speaker 4: Tight end fullback?
- 57:31Speaker 8: There's differences, but yeah, there's definitely. I mean, when we
- 57:33Speaker 8: learn tight end, we're learning what the fullback's doing too,
- 57:36Speaker 8: so we always know what he's doing. So it's pretty
- 57:39Speaker 8: easy to make the switch over. It's just techniques, something
- 57:42Speaker 8: that really changes. Oh and that's something I worked on
- 57:44Speaker 8: all last year.
- 57:45Speaker 4: So what technique did you have to what did you
- 57:47Speaker 4: work on?
- 57:48Speaker 8: Whether it's just running, you want to run like the
- 57:50Speaker 8: runner runs, if that makes any sense. So I want
- 57:52Speaker 8: to see gaps of the Renner season and make sure
- 57:55Speaker 8: I'm reading things correctly to lead him to the promised lame.
- 57:58Speaker 4: How the mentality it takes to be a full back
- 58:02Speaker 4: knowing you're not going to get the ball much, but
- 58:05Speaker 4: you're going to be the most violent collision on the
- 58:07Speaker 4: play probably describe that that mentality fits you.
- 58:10Speaker 8: Yeah, I think it fits perfect because I've always one
- 58:13Speaker 8: of the things I always tell people is to get
- 58:14Speaker 8: really good at the things that people hate doing. Probably
- 58:18Speaker 8: my biggest piece of advice for anybody that's trying to
- 58:20Speaker 8: make it in the league. So that might be the
- 58:22Speaker 8: gunner for a scope position guy.
- 58:23Speaker 4: That might be.
- 58:25Speaker 8: Like the slice blocks you see it tied in like
- 58:27Speaker 8: the things that people hate to do, or a lot
- 58:29Speaker 8: of the times the things people are worse that So
- 58:31Speaker 8: if you can excel in those areas, you're going to
- 58:33Speaker 8: find a role.
- 58:33Speaker 4: On the field. Is that fit in a sense, that's
- 58:36Speaker 4: how you made a career doing the things people don't
- 58:38Speaker 4: like to do.
- 58:39Speaker 8: Absolutely.
- 58:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that sounds like it fits your personality though.
- 58:43Speaker 8: Yeah, for sure. Definitely just the blue collar kind of
- 58:46Speaker 8: workhorse like, do whatever is asked of you kind of
- 58:49Speaker 8: thing is definitely fitting for a full back.
- 58:52Speaker 4: We've talked in the past when you first got here
- 58:53Speaker 4: about your father being a military pilot and that influence
- 58:57Speaker 4: on your life and him moving around and then he
- 58:59Speaker 4: was a pilot commercially after retired. Do you take pride
- 59:03Speaker 4: in the military ethos and got it from your dad?
- 59:05Speaker 8: Absolutely. I think there's a lot of things I got
- 59:07Speaker 8: from him that were just a result of being around
- 59:10Speaker 8: him right and and growing up in that lifestyle, which
- 59:13Speaker 8: a lot of that is my work ethic. And I
- 59:16Speaker 8: realize it every year like the more, like how different
- 59:19Speaker 8: it is than the rest of society, and how much
- 59:22Speaker 8: differently Like I've been taught to work and taught to
- 59:24Speaker 8: take initiative and do things even when they're an asked
- 59:26Speaker 8: of you. Those things go a long way, and it's
- 59:28Speaker 8: the things that I don't take for granted, but a
- 59:30Speaker 8: lot of people, uh like, they just don't do naturally.
- 59:33Speaker 8: So I'm super thankful for that. It's definitely instilled from
- 59:36Speaker 8: my dad and my mom and my brothers.
- 59:38Speaker 4: So recently married, I was married life.
- 59:41Speaker 23: What's different?
- 59:41Speaker 4: Same? What's different?
- 59:43Speaker 8: We had a kid two days ago.
- 59:45Speaker 6: I didn't know that.
- 59:46Speaker 4: Congratulations, how's everything fine? Great? Yeah?
- 59:51Speaker 8: Yeah, we I left it halftime and then she ended
- 59:54Speaker 8: up sticking around for a while and came out the
- 59:57Speaker 8: next night.
- 59:58Speaker 4: Really, yeah, how did you get inform during the you're
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: talking about sonny preseason game? You left a halftime somebody
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: informed you? How did how do you find out?
- 1:00:05Speaker 8: Well, she had been in labor previously, so I was
- 1:00:09Speaker 8: playing in the first half and then got checked my
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: phone and apt phone and make sure, like it's still progressive,
- 1:00:14Speaker 8: and it was like, yeah, come home.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: So did she have the baby at home or was
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: she at a hospital or how did that work?
- 1:00:21Speaker 8: Isn't a birthing center? So so she was home birth,
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: she's home? And then and then got home the birthing
- 1:00:29Speaker 8: center told us to stay home and wait out the
- 1:00:31Speaker 8: contractions a little longer because it wasn't ready to go
- 1:00:33Speaker 8: to the hospital. So we hung out and then yeah,
- 1:00:36Speaker 8: a lot happened between the long birth, but uh, yeah
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: it went great.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: I gotta ask you preseason or not, how it was
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: playing an NFL game knowing your wife was in labor.
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: Yeah, it was interesting, for sure.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: It was.
- 1:00:48Speaker 8: It was a battle to keep your mind focused pregame
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: and stuff. Honestly, once the game was going, like, it's
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: hard to think about anything but what's going on in
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: the player doing. But pregame and stuff is like gotta
- 1:00:59Speaker 8: be locked in, like stop worrying about whatever. Because she
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: had like our security guy's phone number and a bunch
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: of people's phone numbers if like it was an emergency
- 1:01:07Speaker 8: and they needed me, and we had a police car
- 1:01:09Speaker 8: ready if I needed that.
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: So but you need it, you drove yourself.
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: No, I drove home, and it was She took a
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: while after that. So the name wait, Hadley Catherine Hadley, Yeah,
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: Hadley Catherine. She's nine pounds four ounces.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: Is there a big old girl nine pounds? Yep, your
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: wife's a chit. That's amazing. How has that changed you
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: already being a father or just being married.
- 1:01:35Speaker 8: Yeah, that's a I don't know that. It's changed me
- 1:01:39Speaker 8: a lot in the sense that I feel like that's
- 1:01:40Speaker 8: what I was preparing for for the last I don't.
- 1:01:44Speaker 8: I think I had maybe a come to Jesus moment
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: when I was about nineteen twenty years old and realized,
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: like if I'm if, I want to be married and
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: I want to have kids, and I wanted those things
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: to happen. I can't just live as the world's living like.
- 1:01:56Speaker 8: I have to prepare and I have to like, I
- 1:01:59Speaker 8: can't expect God to give me a wife if I'm
- 1:02:01Speaker 8: not prepared to take care of one. So I guess
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: things changing the fact that I actually got the responsibility now,
- 1:02:06Speaker 8: But a lot of the wisdom I think and stuff
- 1:02:09Speaker 8: came before actually being married and actually having the child.
- 1:02:12Speaker 8: And now it's just enacting.
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: How did you meet?
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: We met Colby Parkinson introduced us.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: You remember him, yes, of course, how did you meet?
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: And here in Seattle.
- 1:02:24Speaker 8: She was living in Colby's house in Tennessee while they
- 1:02:27Speaker 8: were in LA for the season. Oh, and then we
- 1:02:31Speaker 8: got introduced over FaceTime, and then she drove down to
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: our game in Atlanta, had our first date cheesecake factory
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: the day before our game on Sunday, and then yeah,
- 1:02:43Speaker 8: after that, it was. She came up for a few
- 1:02:45Speaker 8: more games that season, and then so I met her
- 1:02:47Speaker 8: in October and then in January after the season asked
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: her dad for hand and marriage and then he was
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: married three months. There's like five months and known each other.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: Wow, Colby Parkinson has got a special place. He didn't
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: know what he was doing. Your goals now, disfranchise. I
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: hear everybody talking about the bottom of the mountain. You
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: got to do it all over again. Is that your
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: mentality personally and team wise? Your goals? Yeah?
- 1:03:09Speaker 8: Absolutely. I don't think there's no sort of riding on
- 1:03:13Speaker 8: last year and feeling like last year's earned us anything
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: Like we know that if anything, it's made their road
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: more difficult, like get a harder schedule, you get everybody's
- 1:03:21Speaker 8: gunning for your spot. So we definitely approach it as
- 1:03:25Speaker 8: like whole new team who knew everything.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: We gotta go.
- 1:03:27Speaker 8: You don't got to reinvent the wheel, but we gotta
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: go create our own identity.
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: Okay, I'm still trying to wrap my head around you
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: playing an NFL game when your wife's in labor. Who
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: did you have to arrange a police car if you
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: needed it? They knew if you could leave on a
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: moment's notice. Who did you talk through all that? Was
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: it mo Kelly? Was it your coaching staff? Who was
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: in on board in this plan?
- 1:03:47Speaker 8: I mean everybody knew that it could be any day
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: because we were a couple of weeks overdue. So then
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: I just warned to George Ingelbrad is like she's been
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: having some contractions and stuff, and he's like, all right,
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: we got someone ready if you need it, like the
- 1:04:00Speaker 8: stand by, and he had her phone, her phone number
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: unblocked and everything ready to go if I needed to
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: get out of there.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: Freddie Russell with the most unique training camp story we've
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: come across so fire. We'll congratulations on everything that. Thank you,
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: thanks a lot when we come back more from Seahawks
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: training camp in ninety three point three, kJ erup.
- 1:04:23Speaker 31: Marcus will never be to that point. Marcus is so
- 1:04:26Speaker 31: serious that the third person that there's been seasons we
- 1:04:30Speaker 31: were mathematically out and I still thought we could make
- 1:04:33Speaker 31: the playoffs this year. I still know we're gonna win
- 1:04:36Speaker 31: the World Series. I'm gonna get my parade finally and
- 1:04:40Speaker 31: then leave my World Series twenty twenty six tattoo.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: Since the Riders were playing the Brewers.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I was imagining what Bob Yucker would have said after
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Julia threw that ball into the stands.
- 1:04:55Speaker 8: Missed that guy.
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: I miss him too, Thank you guys for those talkbacks.
- 1:05:01Speaker 11: Greg Bell is out there doing what he does best, journalism.
- 1:05:06Speaker 11: I just made that up. But Greg Bell will be
- 1:05:09Speaker 11: with us in just a few minutes, and he is
- 1:05:12Speaker 11: out there at Seahawks practice just making sure that he
- 1:05:15Speaker 11: can get the best information that he can get.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: You.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: Bob Yuger just a bit outside.
- 1:05:22Speaker 11: I miss him too, So I appreciate that, and Marcus,
- 1:05:25Speaker 11: I also appreciate. My name is Jessaman McIntyre. Greg Bell
- 1:05:29Speaker 11: will be with us. This is the Greg Bell Show,
- 1:05:32Speaker 11: but you're stuck with me for just a short time period.
- 1:05:36Speaker 11: And Marcus, I do appreciate the third personing because that
- 1:05:40Speaker 11: is fun. And we asked a question, or I did
- 1:05:44Speaker 11: at the top of the show. Are you at apathy
- 1:05:47Speaker 11: yet when it comes to the Mariners, Because the opposite
- 1:05:51Speaker 11: of hate is not or at the opposite of love
- 1:05:55Speaker 11: is not hate, it is actually apathy. And I'm wondering
- 1:05:59Speaker 11: after last night specifically, if that would be where you
- 1:06:04Speaker 11: are as Mariners fans following.
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: A twenty two to nothing loss. That was pretty rough.
- 1:06:13Speaker 11: And at what point do you just turn it off
- 1:06:18Speaker 11: or will you still go?
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: Will you still go? There's a lot of promotions.
- 1:06:24Speaker 11: It is a fun night out with a family, so
- 1:06:26Speaker 11: I don't think that it's the worst way to spend
- 1:06:29Speaker 11: an evening. But if you had planned, I mean, you
- 1:06:31Speaker 11: have the Chicago Cubs coming in this weekend, and is
- 1:06:36Speaker 11: that something you still want to do.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: That's what I want to know. So text in four nine,
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: four or five one.
- 1:06:42Speaker 11: Also, I will try to find some time to play
- 1:06:45Speaker 11: some more talkbacks if you have them. We did hear
- 1:06:48Speaker 11: from Dan Wilson last night, and if you guys want
- 1:06:52Speaker 11: to hear how he felt about that, I'm going to
- 1:06:54Speaker 11: play that for you right now.
- 1:07:01Speaker 32: Well, obviously you know how we wanted to start this,
- 1:07:04Speaker 32: you know, game just you know, got out of hand,
- 1:07:08Speaker 32: and and uh, you know they put up a lot
- 1:07:12Speaker 32: of runs tonight, and and uh we were we were
- 1:07:14Speaker 32: quiet offensively, and and you know it's a it's a
- 1:07:19Speaker 32: tough one to even think about, and uh you have
- 1:07:22Speaker 32: to you have to move on from here and and
- 1:07:24Speaker 32: and put this one behind this.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: I guess what do you do?
- 1:07:29Speaker 13: You have to say anything to the guys after this,
- 1:07:31Speaker 13: what do you say to them after a night like this.
- 1:07:33Speaker 32: I mean, you know, I think coming off with a
- 1:07:36Speaker 32: great series, you know, this is a tough blow. And
- 1:07:39Speaker 32: and but but there's you know, we've we've played a
- 1:07:42Speaker 32: lot of good baseball, you know, the last several games,
- 1:07:45Speaker 32: and and uh, you know, we just we need to
- 1:07:48Speaker 32: get back to that and and this one just you know,
- 1:07:50Speaker 32: sometimes it goes this way. But uh, you know, we
- 1:07:53Speaker 32: gotta we gotta find.
- 1:07:55Speaker 23: A way, as we've talked about before, and.
- 1:07:56Speaker 32: And you know, we gotta come back tomorrow, and and uh,
- 1:07:59Speaker 32: you know, be ready to find a way.
- 1:08:00Speaker 13: It's still a three nothing game in the in the fifth,
- 1:08:03Speaker 13: you decided to keep Bryce in there? Why did you
- 1:08:05Speaker 13: not decide to go to Josh or do anything?
- 1:08:07Speaker 32: You know, you know, had decisions on me. Accountabilities there,
- 1:08:11Speaker 32: you know, it's on me. It starts to stops there.
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: You know that.
- 1:08:17Speaker 32: You know it's a it's a big turning point in
- 1:08:18Speaker 32: the game. And wanted to get Bryce through there. But
- 1:08:20Speaker 32: you know, just it didn't make the right choice. And
- 1:08:22Speaker 32: and uh, you know it costs us.
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: What did you make it?
- 1:08:25Speaker 8: Bryce today? Before that decision?
- 1:08:27Speaker 32: Yeah, I mean, uh, you know I thought uh, you know,
- 1:08:31Speaker 32: he was keeping us in the ball game all the
- 1:08:34Speaker 32: whole time, and and uh, you know, it was giving
- 1:08:36Speaker 32: us a chance. And and you know, uh, you know
- 1:08:40Speaker 32: we're getting.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Through five there.
- 1:08:41Speaker 32: If we get through five with a three nothing game,
- 1:08:43Speaker 32: it's it's a different game.
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: And and you know, I thought he had.
- 1:08:48Speaker 32: You know what he's been giving us, which is you know,
- 1:08:50Speaker 32: the good fastball at the top he mixed in his
- 1:08:53Speaker 32: his secondaries. And and you know, I just you know,
- 1:08:57Speaker 32: he was giving us a chance, giving us a chance
- 1:08:59Speaker 32: to get And.
- 1:09:00Speaker 19: Then how much more difficult is it to flush a
- 1:09:03Speaker 19: game when the result.
- 1:09:04Speaker 8: Is this drastic?
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: I mean, you know.
- 1:09:09Speaker 8: It's this one's a difficult game all around. But you know,
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: like I said, we'll.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: Be back tomorrow ready to go. There you go.
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: What do you guys think? What do you guys think?
- 1:09:23Speaker 11: After hearing Dan Wilson, obviously that was a thrashing he's subjected.
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: Here we go from the two six.
- 1:09:30Speaker 11: We've all been waiting for the Mariners moment in the
- 1:09:34Speaker 11: season that is a catalyst.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: Last night was it. But it's not going the way
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: we were hoping for.
- 1:09:40Speaker 11: And that sucks, you know, it just sucks for the team.
- 1:09:43Speaker 11: It sucks for the manager, it sucks for the fans,
- 1:09:46Speaker 11: and it sucks for the players right now.
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: The two O six another two of six. Still a
- 1:09:51Speaker 6: fan of the baseball team.
- 1:09:52Speaker 11: I've been a fan my whole life for forty plus years,
- 1:09:55Speaker 11: and the Mariners have not been good for many of
- 1:09:58Speaker 11: those years.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: Haha.
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: I would still go to the game for the love
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: of the game.
- 1:10:02Speaker 11: I'm with you on that one, two of six, because
- 1:10:05Speaker 11: I'm a fan of baseball and it, you know, to
- 1:10:08Speaker 11: go into a personal side of it. It was the
- 1:10:10Speaker 11: only month that my dad ever had off all year
- 1:10:13Speaker 11: because he was a football coach, so in between June
- 1:10:17Speaker 11: and July, that was the only sport that we watched.
- 1:10:20Speaker 11: So yes, for the love of the game, I'm with you.
- 1:10:23Speaker 11: I grew up on baseball movies. I wrote my college
- 1:10:25Speaker 11: papers on Eight Men Out, which is, you know, basically
- 1:10:28Speaker 11: Field of Dreams, so I had to compare the book
- 1:10:31Speaker 11: and the movie together. And I still have such a
- 1:10:34Speaker 11: love of the game because it's the only game that
- 1:10:37Speaker 11: I don't necessarily cover on a regular basis. So I'm
- 1:10:41Speaker 11: with you on that. We have other people's coming in
- 1:10:44Speaker 11: four two five.
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: Been at apathy for a very long time and that
- 1:10:50Speaker 6: is tough. I was not there getting there.
- 1:10:54Speaker 11: I mean, I still have the love of the game
- 1:10:56Speaker 11: from the two of six, but apathy is a tough
- 1:10:59Speaker 11: place to be, especially for a team. And I think
- 1:11:04Speaker 11: last night what we saw from Julio that was that
- 1:11:08Speaker 11: was pretty rough because it felt like he was an apathy.
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: And if you didn't watch that.
- 1:11:14Speaker 11: I'm happy for you, but I'll let you listen to
- 1:11:17Speaker 11: what it sounded like.
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: Shut out large and a victory is twenty to nothing as.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: Yells flies out for the second out and there is run.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: Oh a number twenty. But oh, he threw it out.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: Threw me, threw it out. He did.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: He threw the bullet into the bull and he thought
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: about hold it out.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: Not a home run.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: Eli's it out, but then two bases from the fatals
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: for both for both of the runner.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: I couldn't figure out where the ball was.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: Thought it was three outs, give us. He does not
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: having any time.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: With this, and he sat official, yell, let's just center.
- 1:12:03Speaker 7: Julio is there and he makes the catch and Julio
- 1:12:08Speaker 7: threw the ball into the seats.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: Julio threw the ball into the seats.
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: That was the.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: Second out, and so.
- 1:12:23Speaker 9: The runners are going to advance two bases, which will
- 1:12:27Speaker 9: score another run. And this just adds to a miserable
- 1:12:31Speaker 9: night here in Milwaukee. The two errors of the last inning,
- 1:12:35Speaker 9: the throw over the over second base, Naylor dropping a
- 1:12:40Speaker 9: routine throw.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: Yeah, this is rock and look who's defense man. That's
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: gonna have a long meaning. Then help me out.
- 1:12:51Speaker 7: You're hurting your.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Bonds in a different place. Where was it? Just let happen?
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: And there we go.
- 1:12:59Speaker 11: Greg bell Us back from his arduous journey to the
- 1:13:02Speaker 11: indoor practice facility.
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: Greg, welcome back to the show.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: Thanks. Yeah, I can't tell you that Turron Diggs is
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: most likely to sign today. He is expected to join
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: the team in fly to Nashville, Tennessee, tomorrow for the
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: joint practice on Friday. We'll see how much shape he's
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: in to participate in any of that, but he is
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: expected to be with the team in Tennessee and then
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: the second preseason game the Seahawks play Sunday night. I
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: can't imagine Diggs, having not played since January, would be
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: able to play in that game on Sunday Night, but
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: he will is expected to be with the team when
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: they leave tomorrow for Nashville. Tennessee. I understand that takmondats
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: text nine four nine four five one has a few
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: Mariner thoughts.
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: To put it lightly, Craig.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: Six, as we've been waiting for that moment in Mariner's
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: season that is a catalyst. Last night was it, but
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: not in the way we were hoping for. There is
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: the thought now that's after last night, that the Mariners
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: will mail it in, that the players mentally will just
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: check out. I don't know that they will do that.
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: I hate to say this, but there's still only three
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: games out of a playoff spot and still thirty seven
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: thirty six games left.
- 1:14:17Speaker 11: I know, but it's a big but we have more
- 1:14:21Speaker 11: talkbacks coming in. I'll get to those in a minute.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: Somebody keeping us updated from kitsapp. The Texter from kitsapp
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: three to six, so saying the math, the update on
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: the math. To get to Jerry to post fifty winning percentage,
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: the Mariners would have to go seven to eighty ball
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: the rest of the season.
- 1:14:39Speaker 6: That is, I mean, it's not it's not going to.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: Has been at apathy for a long time with about
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: seven o's.
- 1:14:49Speaker 11: Yeah, that's that sentiment has been pretty uh consistent.
- 1:14:55Speaker 6: I could say that.
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: Yeah, forty five. On June second of the Mariage had
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: just completed their eighth win of an eight game winning
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: streak and had a run differential plus thirty six. Today
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: they're minus forty five. I know yesterday's game skewed that,
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: but still definitely not heading in the right direction. Two
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: five to three fans will be at T Mobile Park
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: this weekend, but only because of the Cubs. Fifty percent
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: of Cubs fans include myself, Go for all three, Go
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: Cub Fly to w.
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: There are a decent amount of Cubs fans in this city.
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: It is because most people from the Roust Belt in
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: the Northwest have moved to the West coast. That's my theory.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: Same with Pittsburgh people, same with Cleveland people, Same with
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: Ohio State Buckeye fans. I'm from Ohio, I'm one of them.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: They're just a lot of people left the Midwest and
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: live on the West coast. Yeah.
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: I think people just want to be closer to water.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: The other thing about the tenants being so big this
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: weekend at Key Bombile Park despite the team being so bad,
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: is of course these tickets are brought well in advance.
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: A couple of you brought that up on the text line,
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: and yes I get that. And also in this case,
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: a lot of Cup fans transpoint from the Chicago area
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: will be here well.
- 1:16:02Speaker 11: And if you're going to make a summer trip, as
- 1:16:04Speaker 11: someone who even lives in Chicago, this is a pretty
- 1:16:07Speaker 11: nice place to be in the summer.
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: Let's get to a couple more of these talkbacks.
- 1:16:11Speaker 22: If the Seattle Mariners fans ever want to get their
- 1:16:14Speaker 22: point across the management and ownership, then stop going to
- 1:16:18Speaker 22: the games, stop buying the pay per view that they
- 1:16:21Speaker 22: make us pay for for this crap product, and tell
- 1:16:24Speaker 22: them they're not worth your good hard money, because that's
- 1:16:28Speaker 22: all our management is interested in. Ownership wants a profit.
- 1:16:32Speaker 22: We're top ten in the league, and they're satisfied with
- 1:16:35Speaker 22: this media for product.
- 1:16:36Speaker 33: Thank you, Hey Greg, Hey Jess. So a question for
- 1:16:40Speaker 33: you guys, who is the bigger choke artists? Coach Dan Lanning,
- 1:16:46Speaker 33: are Sean McVay in the big games?
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: Hey?
- 1:16:51Speaker 29: Good and Chessaman taking the calls appreciate it? Yeah, nope, Baldon, Yesterday,
- 1:16:57Speaker 29: it's done, it's over. And thelast night was you know,
- 1:17:02Speaker 29: perfect representation. Why and Julio once again not having his
- 1:17:07Speaker 29: head in the game. I don't care how many runs
- 1:17:09Speaker 29: you're down, dude, this is why you got picked off
- 1:17:11Speaker 29: third last year, right remember so Nope, laddis football season
- 1:17:17Speaker 29: and Mike and John retrust go minute.
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: Well, that's where the fans are right now.
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it. Like I've said, fifty years without
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: a World Series, they deserve every bit of venting that's taken.
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: That's that's yeah. Absolutely. M Sean McVay won a Super Bowl.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: He's one of the youngest coaches to ever win a
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: Super Bowl. I don't think you can call him someone
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: who can't win the big game. It was pretty young
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: in his career that he won a Super Bowl.
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: Yeah, and he didn't necessarily choke.
- 1:17:45Speaker 11: That one came down to the very very last minute.
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: We have one more talkback I'm going to get to
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: right now.
- 1:17:53Speaker 34: Just chip here late injury for the talkbacks. But I
- 1:17:55Speaker 34: would just like to say to anyone doing the whole oh,
- 1:17:57Speaker 34: typical pessimistic Mariners fans throughout the season or whatever, or
- 1:18:01Speaker 34: you're just always negative. I'm not negative. I am praying
- 1:18:04Speaker 34: for them to prove me wrong. What's the thing you
- 1:18:06Speaker 34: guys say root to be wrong? Likewise, man, I want
- 1:18:09Speaker 34: to be wrong. But for one hundred percent of the
- 1:18:11Speaker 34: Mariner seasons, you could say I don't have a good
- 1:18:13Speaker 34: feeling about getting the World Series this year and be right.
- 1:18:16Speaker 34: So I'm not pessimistic. Hey, prove me wrong at any
- 1:18:19Speaker 34: point we are waiting.
- 1:18:21Speaker 11: That was something that when I first joined Ian's show
- 1:18:24Speaker 11: Who's coming Up Next? At noon and also for cross talk,
- 1:18:28Speaker 11: in just about seven minutes, I said, well, let's root
- 1:18:33Speaker 11: to be wrong because I'm an obnoxious Susie Sunshine. And
- 1:18:39Speaker 11: I was like, well, yeah, this is really bad, but
- 1:18:42Speaker 11: let's just root to be wrong. So I think that's
- 1:18:46Speaker 11: what Chip was referencing. Yes, but prove me wrong. Yeah
- 1:18:49Speaker 11: you're right. Chip like, yeah, you can feel however you want.
- 1:18:53Speaker 11: If you're wrong, you win. If you're right, you're right.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: Fine. Audio quality, by the way, for.
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: Chick, Yeah he's pretty good.
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: That's good audio quality four two five. How did anyone
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: think they were going to be better this year? The
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: front office did nothing all caps to make them better
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: than they were on Game seven of the ALCS two
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: five three. If I'm the Mariners at this point, I
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: would call it the entire and years team, just so
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: we could see what they could do. Maybe they would
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: put some effort into it.
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: Well, yeah, get the call to the Big Show. Of
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: course they would.
- 1:19:25Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean I get it at a point in
- 1:19:29Speaker 11: a game where you know you've got nothing like, absolutely
- 1:19:32Speaker 11: no chance like that they weren't going to win twenty
- 1:19:34Speaker 11: three to twenty two, right or you know, nineteen to
- 1:19:37Speaker 11: whatever it was.
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: At that point in the game.
- 1:19:41Speaker 11: But when you see it as a fan, it makes
- 1:19:45Speaker 11: you not want to spend your heart on earn money.
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: Two eight supporting this dumpster fire of a team is
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: the exact hopeless optimism that keeps the Mariners mediocre. When
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: will M's fans grown a spot, grow a spine, and
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: demand better from their team?
- 1:20:05Speaker 11: Uh?
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: Okay, still a fan of base po six, Still a
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: fan of baseball, been a fan my whole life, forty
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: plus years, and the Mariners have not been good for
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: many of those years. I would still go to the
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: game for the love of the game. And you're not alone.
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: A lot of people will. A lot of people will well,
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: not saying that that's not right or wrong. I mean,
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: I'm a baseball fan. I love going to the park.
- 1:20:26Speaker 11: Yeah, That's what I was talking about earlier before you rejoined,
- 1:20:29Speaker 11: is for the love of the game.
- 1:20:31Speaker 6: I love the game.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: Three six Oh, I'm a little confused by the hype
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: over terry On Arnold. Most people are hung up on
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: he's a former first round pick. His NFL stats reflect
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: the bottom half of the league. Cornerback Hugh Mellon has
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: pointed us out on many of station on many of
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: Arnold's claws. If he is the star many are claiming
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: he is, Detroit would have not released him so quickly
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: after the charges were made public. Yeah, we've talked about
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: how it is something of a caution that the Lions
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: had no qualms and immediately bamm done. Three six er.
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: Is Cooper Cup an amiate emergency quarterback or something? I
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: noticed him in the quarterback or in a hard knocks
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: last night, just wondering he has done that since he
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: came to the Seahawks. He did it the Rams as well.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: Sean McVay was always impressed by that. But for sure,
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: that is Cooper Cup. Yeah, he wants to know what
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: the quarterbacks are seeing, thinking, planning, what goes into the
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: game planning each week. He does it during the season
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: as well. That was not an anomaly for Cooper Cup.
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: It isn't anomaly for NFL wide receivers though. But for
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: sure he's got family lineage. His father was a quarterback. Yes, yeah,
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: he grew up thinking like a quarterback.
- 1:21:39Speaker 11: But I also don't think it's uncommon for certain position
- 1:21:42Speaker 11: players to consort with other players, Like I used to
- 1:21:46Speaker 11: watch Doug Baldwin go through defensive line drills, you know,
- 1:21:51Speaker 11: just to practice, you know.
- 1:21:52Speaker 6: Getting off a block. And yeah, so it's not a.
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: Common hecame Metcal did the same thing. Yeah, exactly, But
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: it is is unusual for most players in the meeting
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: room areas. When their meetings are done, they're going to
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: the hot tub or the cold tub, or the food
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: room or and Cup is spending his extra time going
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: into the quarterbacks room.
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: That's true, that's fine.
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: That is that is unusual, all right. Two six is
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: saying that using hard knocks for your chow filler talk
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: to some high school kids like you do when you're desperate.
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: Hey, it's great, it's great.
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: Did you see that the high school kids segments are desperate?
- 1:22:30Speaker 11: No, I absolutely think that this station. I have a parent,
- 1:22:35Speaker 11: I have not worked here for I've worked here for
- 1:22:36Speaker 11: three and a half years, and I thought that you
- 1:22:39Speaker 11: guys always did a much better job than my previous
- 1:22:42Speaker 11: station of covering high school sports, and I am very
- 1:22:46Speaker 11: proud to be.
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: A part of that. Well, guess what, that's not desperation.
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: We are going to have every Friday. Our plan is
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: to have a high school football so I'm already in
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: the works. I'm planning coaches to bring on. We're going
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: to bring on coaches every week. We're going to preview
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: games of the week. I've talked with King five about
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: the potentially partnering with their Game of the Week and
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: the streaming of that online. They're gonna be more two six.
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: So either figure it out or go listen to something else.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: Because worth bringing it. I think it's good quality stuff
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: and there's a lot of people in our community. There's
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: a lot of people in our community who care about that.
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: Up next to Mayor and Maple Valley Ian Fornas will
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: tell us what he's got going on the show from
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: twelve until three, Mike Betton just sat down with me.
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: We might say hi to him too. On ninety three
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: point three KJRFM, Hi, welcome back. Seyork's Headquarter is the
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: big place today. They just finished with their practice. I
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: ducked in on the end of an hour long ACP
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: T shirt drill and Trevon Diggs apparently is signing or
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: about to sign, because I'm told he's going to talk
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: to the in a press conference here at twelve fifteen,
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: So the signing is not only reported but now going
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: to be official here pretty soon. Trayvon Digs a one
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: year contract. A former All Pro cornerback with the Dallas
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: Cowboys in twenty twenty one, Pro Bowler in twenty one
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: and twenty two, hasn't played a full NFL season since
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: twenty twenty two. He's joining the Seahawks as they pivot
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: away from Terry On Arnold, who if they even do
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: sign him, won't be at a play or practice because
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: it's going to be on the NFL Commissioner's exemp list.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: That's the update here from Rentin. I'm joined. I'm bracketed
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: by hockey dudes now. Mike Benton just came in out
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: of the blue. They're cornered and Ian Farness is back
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: in the studio. Hi guys, Hi Pucks in August, Hello,
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: Hi Mayor, Hello Trayvon Diggs. It's been a while, Ian,
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: but your reaction to them adding a former All Pro
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: like we talked about I think yesterday the day before.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: They're obviously not satisfied with Neami Fritzergnogeny.
- 1:24:55Speaker 23: Is pretty simple. They don't like what they have at Corners.
- 1:24:58Speaker 23: I mean there's nothing, there's no there's no secret, Like,
- 1:25:00Speaker 23: it's pretty simple. They'll I mean, they don't like what
- 1:25:02Speaker 23: they have. Really, that's they don't Hell, they may not
- 1:25:05Speaker 23: like job, I mean they you know they I think
- 1:25:11Speaker 23: it's there's they're not content with what they have at corner.
- 1:25:14Speaker 23: It's as simple as that. You know, Dansby had a
- 1:25:17Speaker 23: strong start to camp.
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: He's God.
- 1:25:19Speaker 23: Every time I watch Hard Knocks, all I see is
- 1:25:21Speaker 23: him getting lit up, you know. And and that was
- 1:25:25Speaker 23: the same way in practice to In fact, there was
- 1:25:27Speaker 23: a couple of plays yesterday that from Hard Knocks. Now,
- 1:25:31Speaker 23: in fairness it's JSN, but right right, there was actually
- 1:25:38Speaker 23: a good shot of you and and my kids standing
- 1:25:41Speaker 23: there on the sideline and JSN going by in a
- 1:25:45Speaker 23: blur and you guys in a blur, and there's Dansby
- 1:25:48Speaker 23: in a blur Like basically you guys had better coverage.
- 1:25:51Speaker 23: So yeah, I think it's I think it's pretty safe
- 1:25:53Speaker 23: to say they don't like what they had at corner.
- 1:25:56Speaker 23: My question is why was Diggs a free agent for
- 1:25:58Speaker 23: so long?
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: Well, he had a concussion and the symptoms lasted most
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: of the last season. Played ak okay, all right, he
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: played one game with green Bay right January, and then
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: they cut him after January.
- 1:26:09Speaker 23: But that's the thing, Like green Bay cuts them in January,
- 1:26:12Speaker 23: he hasn't.
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: They didn't really cut him.
- 1:26:13Speaker 23: They like his contracts oh, okay, okay, and then they
- 1:26:16Speaker 23: he was free. But I mean for him to be
- 1:26:18Speaker 23: on the streets for eight months, almost nine months, is crazy,
- 1:26:22Speaker 23: true if if.
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: You know, unless he was being picky and pulling the
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: veteran thing where he didn't want to do training camp.
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: He turns twenty eight next month, you.
- 1:26:30Speaker 23: Know, but it does make us wonder though that actually
- 1:26:32Speaker 23: makes sense, Greg, that actually that it's pick and choose
- 1:26:35Speaker 23: where you want to go, wait for somebody to be
- 1:26:37Speaker 23: desperate and and then don't have to deal with God,
- 1:26:42Speaker 23: nobody will. I mean, I'm done with training camp for gotsake,
- 1:26:45Speaker 23: Like I can't imagine a player.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: So yeah, for sure, Marcus Lawrence must feel very good
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: about this.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: By the way, Yes, another Cowboy teammate, Aiden Dirty is
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: another a dirty Yeah, it does though, make me wonder
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: how hard they tried to keep eq Wolling if they're
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: this dissatisfied with their third cornerback situation. They liked what
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: they had in Woolen most of the time, and I
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: wonder if it was just money. He only got a
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: one year deal for twelve million dollars. Yeah, so from Philadelphia.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: It does make me wonder either one how he Wolan
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: fell out of favor so quickly with McDonald or two
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: how hard they tried to get it to keep them.
- 1:27:23Speaker 23: Yeah, I was thinking that too. I wonder if it
- 1:27:25Speaker 23: was just a case of He's just like wooln that
- 1:27:28Speaker 23: is like, Okay, I want multi years and I want
- 1:27:31Speaker 23: X amount of money, and the Seahawks says, no, we're
- 1:27:33Speaker 23: not going to give you that, but we'll give you this,
- 1:27:35Speaker 23: and he's like, okay no, And then they moved on
- 1:27:38Speaker 23: signed job. And then by the time Wolan, you know,
- 1:27:41Speaker 23: was there, all he had was a one year deal
- 1:27:42Speaker 23: offered him. Mean, you know, maybe that was just too
- 1:27:45Speaker 23: late at that point.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: So they did have money to sign both Joe and Yeah.
- 1:27:49Speaker 23: Well, and the Walker thing was going to still be
- 1:27:51Speaker 23: a question We're all going to have for a while too, right,
- 1:27:53Speaker 23: I mean I I I want to second guests and
- 1:27:58Speaker 23: guests and all those things. But that's not the organization
- 1:28:02Speaker 23: or the GM the second guess. I'll just I'll whatever
- 1:28:05Speaker 23: he was doing, it seems to be working. So for who, like,
- 1:28:08Speaker 23: I think the great thing about Hard Knocks isn't It's
- 1:28:10Speaker 23: like there's so much stuff behind the scenes that we
- 1:28:12Speaker 23: are not pretty to and little things that may come
- 1:28:15Speaker 23: into play. So who knows?
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: Is that agent?
- 1:28:17Speaker 23: By the way, for uh, has she shut up yet?
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: God? Hearings? God?
- 1:28:25Speaker 23: She just talks man like God shut up?
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: Oh just telling the court everyone that wanted to try
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: out her client. Oh my visit she had? God, Yes,
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: indeed you have on the show.
- 1:28:40Speaker 23: Painful, a painful segment. Let's see what do we got
- 1:28:45Speaker 23: Hemelan's gonna Jonas comebout twelve twenty. Today we'll talk about Digs.
- 1:28:48Speaker 23: Obviously we're gonna do a little hardcore preseason edition hardcore football.
- 1:28:51Speaker 23: But that's Diggs. Obviously he's going to jump right up
- 1:28:53Speaker 23: for us. So we'll talk to him about that at
- 1:28:54Speaker 23: twelve twenty, and then we'll also get uh, we'll check
- 1:28:59Speaker 23: in with what do we got. I'm sorry, got I'm
- 1:29:02Speaker 23: losing my mind today.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: Friday is usually O'Neil today and Wednesday. What we got
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: a wedding Friday. I'm flying to Nashville.
- 1:29:09Speaker 23: Oh, Chris Crawford's gonna join us in the one o'clock hour.
- 1:29:12Speaker 23: We got to talk about yesterday. Obviously we'll do one
- 1:29:14Speaker 23: half of them all. I watched and then.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: So said Nathan Bishop cannot be here.
- 1:29:19Speaker 23: Good, thank God. Probably looking forward to this. And then
- 1:29:23Speaker 23: we'll check in at or two o'clock with Corner Smith.
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: So there we go. Well, the thing about the Brewer,
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: why did they have to go for two at the
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: end they were already up three touchdowns? That was just ridiculous.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: I got back from VAK last night and it was
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: like thirteen nothing. I was like, have they kicked the
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: field goal? Yet? That's why Mike benon. So this is
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: day forty eight for me out of training camp, and
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: my bike's going, Hey, guys, what's up sprite? I'm heading
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: rush the hockey season yet, I'm heading over to here
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: Drayvon Diggs and his apparently introductory press conference. I just
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: was told they're gonna have at twelve fifteen ends up
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: next from twelve until three. Thanks for listening. I'll talk
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: to you tomorrow from Nashville with Jessmon mcint are back
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: here in the studio on ninety three point three KJRFM.
