- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm going to regret this.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Welcome to the note party.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Hi. This is Nick and Astasu, story editor on Star Wars,
- 0:10Speaker 3: The Clone Wars and Star Wars bad Batch, and you
- 0:14Speaker 3: are listening to aggressive negotiations.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Well, hello, and welcome to aggressive negotiations coming at you
- 0:28Speaker 1: from the Pirate Tower of l Thal as we are
- 0:33Speaker 1: broadcasting our pirate signal hacking into the Imperial Hollow Net
- 0:37Speaker 1: to give you the latest exciting Star Wars talk from
- 0:42Speaker 1: none other than Jedi Master Matt Rushing. That's me, and
- 0:46Speaker 1: with me my illustrious host and hidden Jedi Master John Mills. John,
- 0:53Speaker 1: I really do hope this VPN is working.
- 0:56Speaker 2: So do I. So do I, because the only reason
- 0:58Speaker 2: I signed up for this show from the Pirate Tower
- 1:01Speaker 2: in Lethal is because I want the e Wing eventually
- 1:04Speaker 2: to show up because I'm going to hijacket. I know
- 1:06Speaker 2: that's not a very Jedi thing, but I want one,
- 1:09Speaker 2: and therefore I shall get one by any means necessary.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I also, you know, if we're called all the way
- 1:14Speaker 1: back to the beginning of the show, we're talking about
- 1:16Speaker 1: favorite ships and one of mine is the bee Wing
- 1:20Speaker 1: on the wing. Yes, yes, that that is one fine ships.
- 1:26Speaker 1: What we talking about John. We're not actually here to
- 1:29Speaker 1: talk about ships. We're going to talk about a different topic.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But before we dive into that, I wanted to remind
- 1:34Speaker 1: you that you can find Aggressive Negotiations wherever you're getting
- 1:37Speaker 1: your podcasts, especially since you know that because you're listening. Yes, now,
- 1:42Speaker 1: maybe maybe you would like to tell other people that, Hey,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I'll listen to this great podcast. It is called Aggressive Negotiations,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and I feel like other people should listen to that too. Well,
- 1:54Speaker 1: you know what you can do. You can go over
- 1:56Speaker 1: to Apple Podcasts and give us a start rating review
- 1:59Speaker 1: that helps people find the show, which is great. You

- 2:17Speaker 1: the nerd Party dot com. We're on Instagram at the
- 2:19Speaker 1: Nerd Party. And yeah, I think that's probably it. I
- 2:23Speaker 1: feel exhausted from talking about this, John, But the topic
- 2:27Speaker 1: that I have for you is actually one that I
- 2:30Speaker 1: brought up and I thought it was a really interesting
- 2:35Speaker 1: topic because you know, we have had a proliferation of
- 2:44Speaker 1: political discussion throughout the last like ten years. Honestly even
- 2:53Speaker 1: I would say since the early eighties. This began where
- 2:58Speaker 1: discussions were happening at different places than you had seen
- 3:03Speaker 1: them before. And so it got me thinking about, like,
- 3:07Speaker 1: what would political discussion have been like, and what were
- 3:11Speaker 1: the spheres that they might have had. Would it would
- 3:15Speaker 1: have been like hollow net shows? I mean, how would
- 3:18Speaker 1: that have been in the early republic because I have
- 3:22Speaker 1: to think conversations about what was going on in the Senate,
- 3:25Speaker 1: people complaining about things on you know, your local hollownet
- 3:29Speaker 1: news channels, you know your favorite hollow net podcasters type
- 3:34Speaker 1: of thing, Like, what do you think this actually looked
- 3:37Speaker 1: like on a galactic sense before Palpatine took over?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Well, the thing is, you talk about the hollow net,
- 3:44Speaker 2: and immediately I go to the horrors of the YouTube
- 3:46Speaker 2: reaction videos and I just can you imagine a hallow
- 3:50Speaker 2: neet thing, Oh, where there's a person's hollow image over
- 3:54Speaker 2: top of another hollow image with red arrows pointing at
- 3:57Speaker 2: everything top ten ways Palpatine borked the Senate this week
- 4:01Speaker 2: or something like that. So you initially said in the
- 4:07Speaker 2: early Republican, I think that's a good place to start, actually,
- 4:09Speaker 2: because I think that in the early days, after hyperspace
- 4:13Speaker 2: technology and communications gets established, I think you would have
- 4:19Speaker 2: seen an explosion of what we would consider podcasts in
- 4:24Speaker 2: the Star Wars galaxy, because the Republic was more of
- 4:28Speaker 2: a confederated thing in the beginning, at least according to
- 4:32Speaker 2: the lore that we've had, I think you would have
- 4:34Speaker 2: seen a lot more outer Rim shows come together and
- 4:39Speaker 2: Midrim shows, and then you'd have the occasional you know,
- 4:44Speaker 2: interrim Midrim crossover shows and stuff like that. And I
- 4:47Speaker 2: think the early days of the Republic you would see
- 4:49Speaker 2: I mean, ito'd basically be like ham Radio, which is
- 4:51Speaker 2: essentially what podcasting is, which is, you know, just a
- 4:54Speaker 2: little bit more structure to it and a little more
- 4:58Speaker 2: you know, dual to it. So I think if we're
- 5:02Speaker 2: going to start from that point, then I think that
- 5:04Speaker 2: political shows and discussion is much more you know, loose
- 5:12Speaker 2: in the early days of the Republic. But I think
- 5:14Speaker 2: definitely if you were to trace it through time, by
- 5:16Speaker 2: the time it gets to the late Republic, I think
- 5:19Speaker 2: it would actually wind up being something that would be
- 5:21Speaker 2: much more, much more staid. I think that the people
- 5:26Speaker 2: in the Republic by the fall of the Republic had
- 5:29Speaker 2: stopped paying attention to politics except for the anger and
- 5:35Speaker 2: the reaction and being upset. Am I making sense there? Like,
- 5:40Speaker 2: so what would have remained would have been the galactic
- 5:43Speaker 2: holinet shows and people on the margins just arguing with
- 5:47Speaker 2: each other, sort of what we have on social media
- 5:49Speaker 2: today sort of stuff.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think I like what you said
- 5:56Speaker 1: with the idea of that the the early or day
- 6:00Speaker 1: of the Republic, you know, the the idea of what
- 6:06Speaker 1: was happening in the Republic would have been a topic
- 6:09Speaker 1: of conversation that you would have seen on all of
- 6:11Speaker 1: these you know, different types of shows. Uh. And I was,
- 6:19Speaker 1: I was just really struck by this because, Yeah, I
- 6:22Speaker 1: think you're right. There would have been a lot of
- 6:25Speaker 1: things that we know as kind of like podcasts or
- 6:28Speaker 1: something like that that would have been available. You know,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I think of like every planet, you know, having its own,
- 6:36Speaker 1: uh Sunday morning news type shows, you know, where you
- 6:39Speaker 1: get the pundits on there talking about what's going on
- 6:42Speaker 1: in the Senate and how it's impacting you know, Chandrilla
- 6:46Speaker 1: or you know, all the Wrong or any of those
- 6:49Speaker 1: type of things. It makes sense that that would be
- 6:52Speaker 1: something that would be the case, you know, because you're
- 6:54Speaker 1: a republic, you're a part of the process, you know.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And and also you have a very vested interest in
- 7:05Speaker 1: what's happening there because of how it impacts you and
- 7:08Speaker 1: your planet being part of the republic. So that's something
- 7:10Speaker 1: I think it's really interesting. And again, you know, obviously
- 7:13Speaker 1: in social media didn't even exist when Star Wars was
- 7:16Speaker 1: coming out, so that's not even a thought in George
- 7:18Speaker 1: Lucas's head as to this being anything that could be
- 7:24Speaker 1: a possibility or whatnot. And so and yet and one
- 7:31Speaker 1: of the things I think is interesting because we actually
- 7:35Speaker 1: do see this though, this idea in and or with
- 7:40Speaker 1: what happens on Gorman, where the Gorman Revolution there in
- 7:46Speaker 1: the city is being broadcast by news media outlets, and
- 7:52Speaker 1: they're all friendly of course at that point to the Empire.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But I have to extrapolate that those same type of
- 8:01Speaker 1: things were happening in the Republic. So you know, you
- 8:05Speaker 1: would have, I think, had all of these different pundits
- 8:09Speaker 1: and and and you would have been most likely had
- 8:15Speaker 1: you're more extremes on each side, you know, and then
- 8:18Speaker 1: you're goind of more middle of the ground people, uh,
- 8:21Speaker 1: and and and as I think you rightly said, as
- 8:29Speaker 1: we get closer and closer to what we see at
- 8:32Speaker 1: the end of Revenge of the Sith, it almost does
- 8:35Speaker 1: seem like, at least for what we saw in Courson,
- 8:38Speaker 1: that people just stopped caring and really just got sucked
- 8:42Speaker 1: into the decadent lives that they were living, at least
- 8:46Speaker 1: those who lived on the top side, you know, and
- 8:49Speaker 1: everybody else is just suffering.
- 8:51Speaker 2: What you said triggered in my brain a line that
- 8:54Speaker 2: pad May had that's always been one of my favorite
- 8:56Speaker 2: lines in the entire six films that Lucas made, which
- 9:01Speaker 2: was this war represents a failure to listen. So I
- 9:05Speaker 2: think that people were talking, but nobody was listening, and
- 9:10Speaker 2: I think that is definitely a point that seems very
- 9:13Speaker 2: valid nowadays.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Well, and on top of that, I love that you
- 9:17Speaker 1: said that because there's that Clone Wars episode right where
- 9:21Speaker 1: she brings out one of her handmaidens or you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: people that works on her staff, right, and what does
- 9:32Speaker 1: she do. She uses her as telling her story of
- 9:38Speaker 1: what's happening to just the normal people of the galaxy
- 9:43Speaker 1: because of this war. She gives voice to that. And yet,
- 9:47Speaker 1: like you said, at that point, nobody seems to be listening. Oh,
- 9:51Speaker 1: it tugs on their heartstrings for five minutes, but then
- 9:53Speaker 1: they forget about it. You know. It's like, oh, they
- 9:56Speaker 1: put the you know, the black square in their social media,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and then they forget about it, you know, because they're
- 10:03Speaker 1: too busy with just the bread and circuses in some ways.
- 10:09Speaker 1: And I think that's really really interesting because it is
- 10:13Speaker 1: in some ways, even though they don't have the social
- 10:15Speaker 1: media aspect in Star Wars, there is a reflection that's
- 10:19Speaker 1: happening on us through what we see with the Republic
- 10:24Speaker 1: in the prequels, we see in the Clone Wars, what
- 10:27Speaker 1: we start to see, you know, after the Clone Wars
- 10:29Speaker 1: and in through a ndor, you know. And it makes
- 10:34Speaker 1: me wonder, then, John, if you have such an infrastructure,
- 10:40Speaker 1: most likely of news outlets and the possibility of hollow casts,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know, that are happening all over the galaxy talking
- 10:51Speaker 1: about these things. We know Palpatine wasn't universally loved from
- 10:57Speaker 1: day one, and so how do you think he goes
- 11:01Speaker 1: about in tracking these people down and making sure that
- 11:06Speaker 1: they are silenced in a way that doesn't blow back
- 11:10Speaker 1: on him.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Oh see, I don't think Palpatine would have bothered silencing
- 11:15Speaker 2: people out right, you don't think so. I don't think so.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I think that Palpatine what we've seen clearly, and let's
- 11:22Speaker 2: look at Okay, I'm going to break down before I
- 11:24Speaker 2: move forward to this point, I'll call out it's very
- 11:27Speaker 2: easy for all of us to say, like, even when
- 11:29Speaker 2: we're looking at Star Wars, people are occupied with bread
- 11:32Speaker 2: and circuses, and that is true, but you also have
- 11:34Speaker 2: characters like the Martez sisters who are actually just trying
- 11:37Speaker 2: to figure out how to survive. They're not trying to
- 11:39Speaker 2: change the world because they're just trying to They're like, Okay,
- 11:41Speaker 2: I'm just trying to play by the rules that I
- 11:43Speaker 2: know exist and survive and succeed that way. And I
- 11:47Speaker 2: think that's a space where a lot of people exist.
- 11:51Speaker 2: And then going forward to the other point about would
- 11:56Speaker 2: Palpatine have hunted people down and taken them out? I
- 11:59Speaker 2: don't think so. I think that the hollownt proper people
- 12:03Speaker 2: would have been afraid of because they would have known
- 12:08Speaker 2: that the Empire is listening. What are the odds? I
- 12:12Speaker 2: think in that case it sort of becomes like playing
- 12:14Speaker 2: the odds about speeding. Are the cops watching? They might be,
- 12:19Speaker 2: or they might not be. The threat of being known
- 12:22Speaker 2: is enough to make you behave sometimes, and I think
- 12:27Speaker 2: that would keep the Hollownet itself a relatively quiet place.
- 12:31Speaker 2: But I think Palpatine would have an eye toward being
- 12:34Speaker 2: perfectly happy with the idea that people were out there
- 12:38Speaker 2: stoking anger and argument, because if people are arguing with
- 12:44Speaker 2: each other, they're angry at each other, they're no longer
- 12:49Speaker 2: angry at him, and they'll take care of themselves and
- 12:53Speaker 2: they'll keep themselves occupied while he's at work doing his thing,
- 12:59Speaker 2: and then it's you know what. I'll even give a
- 13:02Speaker 2: positive nod to Ghostbusters too, where they talk about the
- 13:06Speaker 2: slime under the city. I know, right, controversial, but it's
- 13:10Speaker 2: like the slime Palpatine is the slime in New York
- 13:13Speaker 2: City and Ghostbusters too. He is a He gets his
- 13:17Speaker 2: power from the energy that's out there, and he wants
- 13:22Speaker 2: people angry and ticked off. He might occasionally, or the
- 13:27Speaker 2: local governor, I should say, might occasionally go out and
- 13:30Speaker 2: take care of a couple of rabble rousers who talk
- 13:32Speaker 2: too loud, But otherwise it's just more anger and fear.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And then every so often you just have to make
- 13:41Speaker 2: an example out of somebody, and then that makes people
- 13:45Speaker 2: even angrier, and maybe they take action, maybe they don't.
- 13:49Speaker 2: But we also know that Palpatine thinks the rebellion doesn't
- 13:51Speaker 2: stand a chance against him, and so that's where it
- 13:54Speaker 2: winds up backfiring.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's such an interesting thing because I also,
- 13:58Speaker 1: again I come back to the idea of and or right,
- 14:02Speaker 1: And you have all of the people who legitimately work
- 14:06Speaker 1: in the propaganda department, you know SU, and their whole
- 14:10Speaker 1: role is to just shape the narrative, and they create
- 14:15Speaker 1: the narrative, and then they make sure that all of
- 14:17Speaker 1: the sources that you know that want to survive in
- 14:21Speaker 1: some ways parrot the narrative. And of course, and so
- 14:27Speaker 1: I think that's the other side of that, right, Like,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I think you have a really interesting thought that I
- 14:32Speaker 1: hadn't really considered before, which is this idea that Palpatine
- 14:38Speaker 1: might not have done necessarily anything. I think I might
- 14:43Speaker 1: add to that though, I could definitely see Palpatine working
- 14:50Speaker 1: to have basically assassins go after people that are maybe
- 14:58Speaker 1: too popular or too well spoken on these issues and
- 15:03Speaker 1: have them die on what looks like natural causes type
- 15:06Speaker 1: of thing. In a way that could never come back
- 15:08Speaker 1: to him in that sense, because I don't since you
- 15:13Speaker 1: know that Palpatine wants to be challenged in any way
- 15:15Speaker 1: so as long as they're in fighting in of themselves.
- 15:18Speaker 1: But there were always those people, which is kind of
- 15:21Speaker 1: what makes the move then that you get with man
- 15:24Speaker 1: Mathma right when she speaks up in the Senate and
- 15:29Speaker 1: then you know the speech that we get in Rogue
- 15:33Speaker 1: one too, such a dangerous thing to do, and you
- 15:37Speaker 1: hadn't seen actually anybody really do that before until she does.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And so I think that's really interesting as well, because
- 15:46Speaker 1: you do get this to me, that this whole conversation
- 15:50Speaker 1: really comes together in the sense that all of the
- 15:54Speaker 1: major sources of opposition to Palpatine by that point had
- 16:00Speaker 1: really become silent.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Well, I think that with your idea, I don't disagree
- 16:07Speaker 2: with you. Obviously that Palpatine would have wiped a couple
- 16:10Speaker 2: of people out or his you know, the team that
- 16:13Speaker 2: did that job would have kept enough of an eye
- 16:15Speaker 2: on things. I think that the people that would have
- 16:19Speaker 2: been silenced would not have been the talkers, but the
- 16:24Speaker 2: provers anybody who did some digging and all of a
- 16:28Speaker 2: sudden they were like, oh, look, I've got evidence of
- 16:31Speaker 2: a list that Palpatine had. Oh look, I've got evidence
- 16:35Speaker 2: of a list that Palpatine had where he is aligning
- 16:40Speaker 2: resources for this or something like that. Or somebody uncovers
- 16:43Speaker 2: something that's going to be detrimental to keeping order, then
- 16:47Speaker 2: they'll take that person out. But otherwise, I mean, it's
- 16:51Speaker 2: human nature. I mean, you go back to you know,
- 16:55Speaker 2: my own youth. People would just sit around in the
- 16:57Speaker 2: neighborhood and they would just you know, that's where cospiracy
- 17:00Speaker 2: theories would flourish, and people would debate things at cocktail
- 17:04Speaker 2: parties or even at birthday parties or that when the
- 17:07Speaker 2: parents are talking in the corner during the Chuck E
- 17:09Speaker 2: Cheese party or something like that. It was still happening.
- 17:14Speaker 2: But the stuff that would happen even back then is
- 17:17Speaker 2: eventually some investigative person would say like, oh look, I've
- 17:20Speaker 2: got a box full of documents from this big pharma company,
- 17:23Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden their car breaks fail
- 17:25Speaker 2: and they're destroyed. You know that type of stuff. I
- 17:28Speaker 2: think that's where you and I align is he would
- 17:29Speaker 2: have taken people out, but I just think by and large,
- 17:32Speaker 2: he would have let people say whatever they wanted to
- 17:34Speaker 2: as long as they couldn't prove it.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I like that, and I also think
- 17:41Speaker 1: that it seems is though, and this would be really
- 17:45Speaker 1: interesting to kind of see in you know, the expanded
- 17:49Speaker 1: media that they do with books or something, but the
- 17:52Speaker 1: way in which Palpatine would use kind of a bread
- 17:58Speaker 1: and circuses type of of atmosphere to make people love him,
- 18:06Speaker 1: because again, that's a you know, it's something that we
- 18:08Speaker 1: see in and or where that when mon Mathma is
- 18:12Speaker 1: having conversations with these senators right about the lack of
- 18:18Speaker 1: actual are the loss of rights that are being taken
- 18:23Speaker 1: away slowly but surely she can see it, but other
- 18:26Speaker 1: people just buy into, you know, what's being told to
- 18:29Speaker 1: them kind of thing. And you know, we saw the
- 18:32Speaker 1: fact that there's that really weird corresponting talk show like
- 18:38Speaker 1: The View or whatever something where those the weird two
- 18:41Speaker 1: women that we're talking and the you know what's his
- 18:44Speaker 1: face as mother's watching, and it's just like so you
- 18:49Speaker 1: just get this sense that and I think that would
- 18:52Speaker 1: actually be fascinating to see Palpatines propaganda and and you know,
- 19:01Speaker 1: publicist spokesperson or whether what is what is being done
- 19:07Speaker 1: to ameliorate any you know, perceived issues by the Empire,
- 19:14Speaker 1: throwing money at a situation or whatever, you know, just
- 19:16Speaker 1: like because at this point, you know, behind the scenes,
- 19:21Speaker 1: money doesn't really matter to Palpatine and so and we
- 19:26Speaker 1: know he's doing all sorts of things on like Mount
- 19:28Speaker 1: Tantas and stuff that's costing who knows how many trillions
- 19:31Speaker 1: or quadrillions of credits, and it doesn't even matter that.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So what else are they doing to just like throw
- 19:40Speaker 1: this pork barrel, you know thing at this plan? You know,
- 19:44Speaker 1: like all of that to me, like, you know, we're
- 19:47Speaker 1: getting in the real minutia of like the politics of
- 19:51Speaker 1: Palpatine and and and how he would ameliorate his takeover
- 19:55Speaker 1: the galaxy. But to me, it's just kind of fascinating.
- 19:58Speaker 2: No, fascinating. You're talking to the guy. I've told the
- 20:01Speaker 2: story I don't know how many times my friends, like
- 20:03Speaker 2: we're all bristling at the time, was like, oh, the
- 20:05Speaker 2: Senate and the politic they're talking about political machinations and
- 20:08Speaker 2: the Phantom Menace, And I'm the one looking at them like,
- 20:10Speaker 2: what's wrong with you? That's just fascinating. I want to
- 20:12Speaker 2: see that stuff. But I think that where my brain
- 20:18Speaker 2: goes and I'd forgotten about the show in and Or
- 20:20Speaker 2: that you're talking about, but I remember it now. But see,
- 20:24Speaker 2: I'm old enough to remember the McLaughlin Group, which aired
- 20:28Speaker 2: on NBC, and anybody who's as old as me is laughing.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Anybody who doesn't know what the McLaughlin Group is, go
- 20:36Speaker 2: ahead and look it up online. I would love to
- 20:41Speaker 2: see a Star Wars show that had something like the
- 20:45Speaker 2: McLaughlin Group going on, but with you know, Sat Pistige
- 20:52Speaker 2: or Pistage. How do you pronounce his last name? Sat Pistage, Pistage?
- 20:56Speaker 2: How do you pronounce that one? I honestly don't know.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Somebody over to the nerd party dot com slash contact
- 21:01Speaker 2: let me know how the heck am I supposed to
- 21:02Speaker 2: pronounce that. I've only ever seen it written. I've never
- 21:05Speaker 2: heard it spoken by anybody. Great test, great taste in
- 21:10Speaker 2: headwear from that guy, though, really like it anyway. But
- 21:15Speaker 2: to see those sorts of you know, a spokesperson like
- 21:19Speaker 2: you're talking about Massameta is sitting on this talk show
- 21:22Speaker 2: that's being moderated by somebody, and they have these arguments
- 21:25Speaker 2: back and forth, and would it have just been something
- 21:27Speaker 2: where it's a group of people where basically the debate is,
- 21:31Speaker 2: you know, to borrow the joke from Futurama, this new
- 21:33Speaker 2: bill goes too far, and I say, this new bill
- 21:36Speaker 2: doesn't go too far enough, you know, like that sort
- 21:40Speaker 2: of thing where I like, I like, where do you
- 21:47Speaker 2: see that show existing? Like I think maybe that what
- 21:51Speaker 2: you're talking about in and Or didn't scratch that itch
- 21:53Speaker 2: for me? Where what do you see a panel show
- 21:58Speaker 2: like that? Or do you see something more like Meet
- 21:59Speaker 2: the Press where it's just one one person interviewing rep
- 22:04Speaker 2: from the the quote unquote admin from you know, Palpatine's
- 22:08Speaker 2: Cabinet or or the Imperial Senate.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I mean I absolutely see that show there. And and
- 22:16Speaker 1: Or is basically being you know the Corasanti Housewives favorite
- 22:23Speaker 1: like the view type of thing. You know, that's just
- 22:27Speaker 1: you know, giving uh, the administration's talking points. But I
- 22:32Speaker 1: can absolutely see you know, Masa Meda type of person
- 22:35Speaker 1: being on you know, a Meet the Press style show
- 22:40Speaker 1: to talk about the latest glorias of what the Empire
- 22:44Speaker 1: is doing to help you know, the the planet of
- 22:47Speaker 1: Slukamai recover from the Clone wars, you know, and and uh,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you know, the the the projects on Nuda Pal to
- 22:55Speaker 1: the repair the damage done by the clone attack when
- 22:59Speaker 1: General Grievous is taken out, and you know, just all
- 23:01Speaker 1: of this type of stuff. You could totally see all
- 23:04Speaker 1: of those type of things happening in this world.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Oh see, I love this idea of Massameta sitting there
- 23:11Speaker 2: on Meet the Press style show talking about the controversial
- 23:14Speaker 2: moves not to send funding to Fellusia to repair the
- 23:18Speaker 2: deforestation from some something that detonated or something like that.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Uh yeah, bad, I could I could see that real,
- 23:27Speaker 2: real easy. I could also see something like then I
- 23:32Speaker 2: get that reaction video on the Holla net in my
- 23:35Speaker 2: brain again where it's like, oh, look look what massametas
- 23:38Speaker 2: Hocki pelt. But I looked over here red arrow to
- 23:41Speaker 2: this picture of another thing. Is that really Massameida? I
- 23:44Speaker 2: think that's a fake Massameta. And you know, heck, you
- 23:47Speaker 2: could just you can just have shots of the act
- 23:50Speaker 2: all the actors who put on the blue makeup and
- 23:52Speaker 2: the prequels and it's a body double that sort of thing.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Well, and I think in all of this, right, this
- 24:00Speaker 1: is the way in which you know, there's that the
- 24:05Speaker 1: famous book they thought they were free.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Oh that is absolutely required reading for anybody to read.
- 24:14Speaker 1: That book, so you know, it's sitting on my desk here.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And and but that whole thought process, right, that's how
- 24:21Speaker 1: Palpatine worked, and in very in every sense of the word.
- 24:26Speaker 1: That was the whole point of the Prequels in the
- 24:28Speaker 1: first place, is George talking about the way a republic
- 24:34Speaker 1: and a democracy dies and falls into a dictatorship. And yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 1: and it's by doing it, by by helping people still
- 24:43Speaker 1: think they were free the whole time, until the water
- 24:47Speaker 1: is so hot they're boiled alive and it's too late.
- 24:52Speaker 2: And so yeah, you get people to ask for it basically.
- 24:57Speaker 2: But I think this act. I think that additionally, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 2: you're looking at a situation Palpatine says it, you know,
- 25:04Speaker 2: for a safe and secure society. That's what people want.
- 25:08Speaker 2: And if this is what's going to give it to me,
- 25:10Speaker 2: that's what I'm going to do. And that's I'll tie
- 25:12Speaker 2: it back to bring it back around talking about like enforcement,
- 25:17Speaker 2: you get enough people to buy in that Palpatine is
- 25:20Speaker 2: a good You get enough people to buy in that
- 25:23Speaker 2: they're tired of war, that they're tired of this, or
- 25:27Speaker 2: that you get enough people to buy in they'll take
- 25:30Speaker 2: each other out. You don't need to send stormtroopers accept
- 25:33Speaker 2: in the most extreme circumstances.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, you know, it's one of those things
- 25:40Speaker 1: where you know, and I love these type of discussions
- 25:44Speaker 1: that we end up having, and a big part of
- 25:46Speaker 1: that is to me, it always reinforces the ways in
- 25:52Speaker 1: which the prequels were such a fertile ground and there
- 25:56Speaker 1: was so much more for George to explore. And it's why,
- 26:00Speaker 1: you know, when people ask, I always have enjoyed the
- 26:04Speaker 1: prequel series even more than I did the original series
- 26:07Speaker 1: because the amount that you could play with is so
- 26:12Speaker 1: much richer, And it's the reason we get to keep
- 26:16Speaker 1: having these type of discussions. Gosh, I mean, think about it.
- 26:19Speaker 1: It's the reason in which, like when you follow up
- 26:22Speaker 1: that period with the bad Batch and then and or,
- 26:26Speaker 1: and there's so much richness that can happen there. And
- 26:33Speaker 1: it just makes me really thankful that, you know, George
- 26:36Speaker 1: Lucas did this, that he gave us these things to
- 26:41Speaker 1: be able to talk about it, and it makes a
- 26:42Speaker 1: lot of fun. And you know, some days there are
- 26:49Speaker 1: days that are harder than others, my friend, and it
- 26:51Speaker 1: just makes me glad that we get to sit and
- 26:53Speaker 1: talk about this stuff together. But if people wanted to
- 26:56Speaker 1: catch up with you, you know, and and find out
- 26:58Speaker 1: what's going on with you and all of that kind
- 27:02Speaker 1: of thing, where would they find you?
- 27:03Speaker 2: Man? Well, gosh, you can find me out there on

- 27:15Speaker 2: watch and I read anything. I don't shy away from
- 27:18Speaker 2: anything at all, with the exception of the Terrifier movies
- 27:22Speaker 2: because they suck. Well the first one did, so I'm
- 27:25Speaker 2: not going to watch the other two. Deal with it anyway.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Then you can find me here on the network, co
- 27:33Speaker 2: hosting a show called house Lights, where we discuss the
- 27:36Speaker 2: work of directors, whether their entire body of work or

- 27:42Speaker 2: I do that with Tristan Merdell and Darren Moser, And
- 27:46Speaker 2: you know, I have a habit of appearing as a
- 27:49Speaker 2: guest over on a little show called The six ZHO
