- 0:04MBR talk. Hey, thanks for supporting our
- 0:07channel by watching and listening find.
- 0:09Us on the web at MB radio dot US.
- 0:25When life shapes us, when love anchors us, when loss changes
- 0:30us, we are not left behind. We are carried forward, held by
- 0:37faith, rooted in purpose, finding our way.
- 0:42This is carried forward a space for stories of resilience,
- 0:48purpose and forward resolve. Hi, welcome to Carried Forward.
- 1:05I'm your host Shawna Nissan. And as usual, we're going to
- 1:08have some stories about resilience and how my guests
- 1:15have carried themselves forward in their life through
- 1:18challenges. As we all go through, I'll have
- 1:22them introduce themselves. My name is Doctor Travis Diesel
- 1:26and this is my wife, Doctor Rachel Diesel.
- 1:28And our son Aries is also here with us too, so.
- 1:32Thank you for being here. And we were actually, we're
- 1:36actually sitting in their business.
- 1:38They have a chiropractor business in New Braunfels and
- 1:41we'll get to that. But they were I was lucky enough
- 1:45to let them do the interview here.
- 1:48And we can even like at the end, we can even show you guys place
- 1:53if you. Sure, that'd be great, yeah.
- 1:54Yeah, but first we'll talk about you, Travis.
- 1:59Travis is a combat veteran and his life journey has brought him
- 2:05to this and I hear through his wife's journey too.
- 2:09But tell us a little bit about your time and service and how
- 2:14that's affected, maybe your perspective now and moving into.
- 2:19Yes, ma'am. So I got in the Army in 2007.
- 2:24I was in for five years. I was a scout and during that
- 2:28time I did 2 deployments. I did a year and a half in Iraq
- 2:31and then another year in Afghanistan.
- 2:35Yep, got to do a lot while I was there.
- 2:38Learned a lot of things to to help me with where we're at now.
- 2:43I mean typical military structure, timeliness, order
- 2:49things along those lines. As far as our business, it's
- 2:55it's dramatically helped me with owning our own business because
- 2:59you do need to be structured. You need to have set things in
- 3:03place to help you run a successful business and you need
- 3:08good team. And we have an amazing team
- 3:10here. I get to share this journey with
- 3:12my amazing family and wife that holds it all together, so it's
- 3:16been a great journey to get here.
- 3:18I will say he also wakes up at 4:00 in the morning still.
- 3:21So that's super helpful. And he's a phenomenal leader.
- 3:25I mean he's the head of our household, but he's the head of
- 3:27our team here. So he's he's fantastic in
- 3:29leadership that comes. Useful at 4:30 in the morning,
- 3:32getting up now, yeah. Yeah, A.
- 3:34Little more extra daytime and they do have a great team
- 3:39because I've been able to come here and be like interact with
- 3:44this team and be a patient and they make I was telling him just
- 3:51the other day that you really feel community here and like
- 3:58I've, I guess it's been about a month I've been coming here,
- 4:00right? And you really like get used to
- 4:05showing up and being somewhere and doing something for yourself
- 4:09and your whole team encourages that.
- 4:11So it's been really good. Thank you.
- 4:13Yeah, that's that's one of our overall goals is to build a
- 4:17community. It's all about not just us
- 4:19teaching patients and showing patients what health is, it's
- 4:22the patients talking with each other and sharing their
- 4:25experiences and of what their health journey has looked like.
- 4:28Because we like we love to say, if you can heal, heal loudly,
- 4:33that helps those suffering silently.
- 4:35So that that really resonates with me and our team because so
- 4:39many people either don't know how to talk about it or to even
- 4:43express, or they might feel embarrassed.
- 4:45So hearing those stories from other people is massive in being
- 4:49able to start that healing process.
- 4:51And we'll show you guys a little later, they have a wall of
- 4:54healing where people share what's been good for them.
- 4:58But at the end, we'll we'll run by there.
- 5:00Yes, ma'am. Yeah.
- 5:02But tell me a little bit more about your military service.
- 5:05What brought you to being in the military and then getting out?
- 5:09And then how much time before getting out of the military to
- 5:12starting the business? Yeah, So what brought me to the
- 5:16military? I come from a military family, A
- 5:19lot of my uncles and aunts and, and people that I've always been
- 5:22around were in the military. And then I was always a really
- 5:27athletic person growing up. And I just wanted to be able to
- 5:30use that athleticism for something good.
- 5:33So that's why I wanted to be more in the combat role to be
- 5:36able to use that for for good. And so that that's really kind
- 5:43of how I got to be in it. When I was getting out, it was a
- 5:45little bit of a rougher transition for me.
- 5:48I would say getting out just because I extended my contract
- 5:52for that fifth year to be able to do that last tour.
- 5:55I didn't want to train up my soldiers and then, you know, say
- 5:59bye, good luck on your tour. So luckily at that time, they
- 6:02weren't doing a lot of re enlistments at the time.
- 6:05That's when a lot of the military was down downsizing,
- 6:08but they did allow us to extend the contract to be able to do
- 6:11that last deployment just because the the way the timing
- 6:15fell. But when we got back, it was
- 6:17they're really just trying to hurry up and push us out.
- 6:20It was, hey, you don't have any time.
- 6:22You can't be with the soldiers. We need the new leadership to
- 6:25take over. So it was really hard for me.
- 6:27I didn't know what I didn't know at the time.
- 6:31And so I didn't know what questions to ask or how to
- 6:36complete that exfil, you know, the ETS aspect of it getting
- 6:40out. And luckily once I got out
- 6:43though it, I found the right people to show me that and to
- 6:47explain to me, hey, it's OK to file for, you know, your intent
- 6:52to file to get your disability and things like that.
- 6:56Because at the time I was still a pretty young guy.
- 6:58I felt like if I can eat, sleep, walk and breathe, I don't want
- 7:03to take money away from other soldiers that weren't didn't
- 7:06have that capability. So just really the mindset
- 7:10coming out of the military was really hard for me.
- 7:12And knowing what to do and then the transition to chiropractic,
- 7:18it actually took a while. It took me a while to find my
- 7:20footing in civilian life. I jumped around from kind of a
- 7:25job to job to job and lived a couple lives and they were in
- 7:28between and really got lucky, moved to College Station.
- 7:32I was going to go to A&M and turns out I had too many college
- 7:36credits. They wouldn't accept me.
- 7:37I didn't even know that was a thing.
- 7:39That I didn't either. Yeah.
- 7:41So no out there, if you have too many college credits, they might
- 7:44not accept you. Like we, we don't know what to
- 7:47do. And you it's not a degree.
- 7:49Yeah, yeah. Well, what they told me was if
- 7:52you wanted to, you could graduate.
- 7:54And then when semester, OK, but I didn't want to take that
- 7:58route. I was going to try to do a
- 8:00totally different plan. But they're like, well, once we
- 8:02accept you, you could do whatever you want.
- 8:04They would have no control over that.
- 8:06So, but overall, that was the best mistake I ever made in my
- 8:09life because by moving to College Station, that's where I
- 8:12met my beautiful life and and start the our journey together.
- 8:16So. OK, OK.
- 8:18So you guys met in College Station where you tell tell us
- 8:21where you were at at that time? Yes, ma'am.
- 8:24So I actually ended up in College Station.
- 8:26It's pretty close to my hometown, but I had ended up
- 8:30basically becoming the caretaker for my elderly grandparents.
- 8:33My mom had passed away when I was 19.
- 8:35So I kind of stepped in and my grandparents were older.
- 8:38My grandpa had Alzheimer's. And, you know, it's just kind of
- 8:41like a rougher patch for them. And where we're from, we had,
- 8:44you know, great, decent medical care, but it was better for them
- 8:48if I could provide more for them in like a bigger town, which was
- 8:51called Station. So that's how I ended up there.
- 8:55And I worked in medical aesthetics.
- 8:57And yeah, I mean, that's just kind of that's where I was
- 9:01there. I was kind of just working,
- 9:02doing my family thing. And we have a mutual friend
- 9:05that, you know, I had grown up with basically my whole life,
- 9:10you know, because of my grandparents actually.
- 9:12And, and her now husband served in the military with him.
- 9:16So we actually met through a mutual friend, which is a pretty
- 9:20cool story. I'm very proud to say.
- 9:22Like we never had to do dating hours.
- 9:25I could not do what y'all are doing out there in the dating
- 9:26world today. So very blessed to very blessed
- 9:30to have just met him organically.
- 9:31But that's how we came together. And it was right shortly after
- 9:34he got out of the military. And, and I was just young too,
- 9:37trying to find my own path and, you know, just trying to get on
- 9:40my feet. So it was a neat time for us to
- 9:42both come together. OK.
- 9:45And then talk about that. You both can try then.
- 9:48So you met each other and you were dating and then decided to
- 9:52get married and neither one of you were in chiropractor at that
- 9:56time. No, absolutely not.
- 9:58So for for me personally, I've been a patient of chiropractic
- 10:02for a long time. I can't do not see you.
- 10:08Sorry, sleepy baby. So I had been a patient probably
- 10:16year 11, and I never thought about becoming a chiropractor in
- 10:22any realm. I just knew that it had helped
- 10:23me, you know, just feel better. And I was an athlete myself, so,
- 10:28you know, performance and things like that.
- 10:31But other than that, I didn't really ever give it like two
- 10:34different thoughts, you know, like about becoming one or
- 10:36anything like that until later. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I was.
- 10:42Pardon. Us.
- 10:45Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, no, I was sports and even
- 10:49when I got out, I did personal training.
- 10:50So that was the main thing that I did when I got out.
- 10:52I loved personal training. I love everything about healing
- 10:56the body. Actually did structural or not
- 10:58structural but corrective exercise.
- 11:01That was kind of my specialty. So people either couldn't finish
- 11:06PT or you know, whether it was too expensive for them or they
- 11:10just didn't finish, whatever and they still had injuries that
- 11:12they're trying to deal with. I would show them how to rehab
- 11:16and really get back to their way of life.
- 11:18It's it's a lot. So I kind of knew a lot about
- 11:21the body and I loved helping people already.
- 11:23So it was a, it was a fun transition, I would say, to
- 11:27doing from that to chiropractic. OK.
- 11:30Yeah, I can see where that was kind of going.
- 11:33Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Funny enough though, that is
- 11:37still not how I got to chiropractic.
- 11:39But yeah. Yeah.
- 11:44And I know a little bit because they share when you come here
- 11:47what how they kind of came to being, well, chiropractic is
- 11:51just being important to them. So go ahead and share a little
- 11:55bit about that. I mean, take us through the
- 11:59steps that got you there and that if you.
- 12:01Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:03So we always think it's really big to to tell our big why as
- 12:06far as what got us to this point, because we never had a
- 12:10desire to necessarily want this. Like this was never the life
- 12:14that we thought we would have. But when the medical model fails
- 12:19you and it fails you in a in a way that almost takes your life,
- 12:24you know, you have to speak out into the world.
- 12:27And that's literally what happened to us.
- 12:28So I'll let Rachel tell her story as far as what it was that
- 12:32got us to where we are now. Yeah, so we, we were very early
- 12:36on in our relationship. We were barely into our first
- 12:39year of marriage and I just kind of, I became, I'll like I was
- 12:46working a couple different jobs. You know, I was, I've always
- 12:49been a very hard worker. And I just remember like having
- 12:53to call in and call in and call in and I would get these
- 12:57reoccurring chronic urinary tract infections, which if
- 13:00you've never had one, then God bless you because they can be
- 13:04very painful and obnoxious. And, you know, I just thought
- 13:08that was just something that I had going on as a young adult.
- 13:11But then, you know, you start to look at it in the like now that
- 13:14I look back, you know, you look at it in a bigger picture and
- 13:17you're talking, you know, year and a half, almost two years of
- 13:20repetitive UTIUTIUTI. And then and So what happened is
- 13:24it started to spread. So I would get kidney stones.
- 13:28I started getting these kidney infections and, you know, I
- 13:31would go to the doctor and I would get an antibiotic and then
- 13:36it would go away for a little while and it would come back.
- 13:38And it just was this just kind of chronic, you know, repeating
- 13:42cycle. And it really made me miserable
- 13:45and it made me really embarrassed because at some
- 13:48points it was like so painful and debilitating, I couldn't go
- 13:51to work. And that's just not what I, that
- 13:54just wasn't in my character, you know, and, and so that part
- 13:57alone was really hard. And it really got to a point
- 14:00where it felt kind of helpless because the answer was just
- 14:06antibiotics and then which, don't get me wrong, there is
- 14:09always a time and place for medication.
- 14:11Like I'm not anti medication or anti medicine, you know?
- 14:14It just wasn't. Working.
- 14:15It just wasn't working. And then what it did was it gave
- 14:17me really bad gastrointestinal issues as chronic antibiotic use
- 14:22does. And so it just became, it just
- 14:27became a real lengthy, you know, issue and the pain from the
- 14:31kidney infections alone, you know, I wouldn't really
- 14:35recommend that on anybody pass any kidney stone.
- 14:37I wouldn't recommend on Satan himself.
- 14:39You know, so, so we, we were just kind of stuck and I, I
- 14:43looked back and we went to the hospital like 10 times in one
- 14:46year. And you know, that's almost one
- 14:48time a month to be in there. And I just felt really hopeless
- 14:51not having any answers. And, you know, when I talked to
- 14:54Travis about this, he, it was a desperate time in his life too,
- 14:57because, you know, he loves me. He's a fantastic husband, He's a
- 15:00fantastic supporter. And he just felt like he
- 15:04couldn't do anything different. He couldn't help.
- 15:07So all of that to say so. These that started happening
- 15:12after you guys were married. Yeah, so it was right.
- 15:15It was right around like our wedding.
- 15:17It was right around right in into our engagement, like into
- 15:20that first year of marriage. And you know, that's the
- 15:23happiest time of your life. You know, we're in the honeymoon
- 15:26days and here I am, bam, bam, racking up these medical bills.
- 15:29And we're starting to go, you know, if things are starting to
- 15:32get rocky with our finances and, you know, we're young and we're
- 15:35still trying to figure out our career.
- 15:37And so it's not like we made a ton of money.
- 15:39We had just moved to this new town and, you know, so it, it
- 15:42became pretty depressing pretty quick, right?
- 15:45And it's frustrating because you guys are just married and you're
- 15:48still killing. Probably insecure, right?
- 15:51Yeah, right. You know what is going on, I
- 15:55think with this. Folks.
- 15:56Yeah, right. Right.
- 15:57Yeah. I mean, I would say we were in
- 15:59a, in a fairly dark place at that time just because, you
- 16:05know, we felt like we were failing each other and failing
- 16:09not necessarily as a couple, but just failing in life, which was
- 16:12a really hard time for us. She felt like it, she was
- 16:16failing me because like she was saying she couldn't work that
- 16:18often. We were racking up massive
- 16:20amounts of medical bills with no end inside.
- 16:24Nobody had an answer for us. I felt like I was failing her as
- 16:27a husband because we couldn't figure out what was going on.
- 16:32So for me, I mean, I fell down a dark place and and started
- 16:37drinking more often. And you know, we were just the
- 16:40woe is me and and just couldn't. Life was heavy.
- 16:44Yeah, it was. And then we would just get
- 16:46depressed. Like we're supposed to be in the
- 16:47happiest time of our life right now.
- 16:49This is what it looks like. What's it going to be like in a
- 16:51year, five years? So it was, it was really, really
- 16:55hard on us. And we just honestly got
- 16:58extremely lucky that this happened to us because all she
- 17:03could really do at that time was work for at a farmers market for
- 17:07a company where that they, they would sell their products at
- 17:09farmers markets at the time. And I would go and help her set
- 17:14it up and everything. And then I would just walk
- 17:16around and just talk to the other vendors and everything.
- 17:19And just so happens was walking by a guy and he said hey man, do
- 17:22you want to get your spine checked?
- 17:24And I started laughing and I was like, absolutely not.
- 17:26Oh, that's how I became your. That's how I've become your.
- 17:30That's exactly right. And that's why it's so important
- 17:32for us to get out in the community because if that doctor
- 17:35wouldn't have been there, if he wouldn't have bothered me so
- 17:37much to the point where I was like, fine, you can have some
- 17:40money and I'll make. But you are bothersome.
- 17:43Yeah. So he was like, hey, come as you
- 17:45were walking. Around, Yeah, he just was asking
- 17:47me. Hey, if you want to get your
- 17:48spine checked and I thought I knew a lot about the body.
- 17:51I've been, you know, been in sports my whole life.
- 17:54I was a personal trainer. People.
- 17:57Recover right, right. So I thought I knew a lot and
- 17:59Rachel had been seeing chiropractors her whole life and
- 18:02I've been to her to some of the appointments and things.
- 18:04And and he just kept talking about how the nervous system
- 18:08works and you know, if your spine is misaligned, how it can
- 18:12affect different areas of your body and this and that.
- 18:14I was like most people, I just assumed it was associated with
- 18:17back pain. And that's one of the biggest
- 18:20misconceptions. And when he broke down what was
- 18:23going on and I was like, OK, well, maybe this might be good
- 18:26for my wife to get checked out. We've been in chiropractors, but
- 18:28nobody's ever taken X-rays of her.
- 18:30They would just do the test and say, Yep, you have scoliosis.
- 18:33Never said to what degree or anything along those lines or
- 18:36how it could affect anything functional wise in her body.
- 18:40Just Yep, we'll get you a justice so you're not in back
- 18:42pain. And thank goodness he did
- 18:46because when he went in, he, you know, said that he has, she has
- 18:51a 30° scoliosis curve blocking off the nerve going to her
- 18:55kidneys. So of course, when she was
- 18:56getting these tests, they couldn't find anything wrong
- 18:59with her kidneys. It was a neurological issue.
- 19:01They just couldn't get signals from the brain.
- 19:04So it wasn't, you know, anything else.
- 19:06We just had to get the pressure off the nerves so the nerves
- 19:08could receive signals from the brain and operate correctly.
- 19:12And sure enough, in three months, that's what exactly what
- 19:15happened. So it takes time, it takes
- 19:17repetition, it takes consistency.
- 19:20But once the body is able to start holding those adjustments
- 19:23like she did, and she was adamant about it, then yeah, she
- 19:27gets her health back. And not only that, probably one
- 19:30of the biggest changes is you saw one of my sons as a
- 19:33teenager. She usually doesn't tell this
- 19:36part, but she had cervical cancer when she was a teenager
- 19:39and the doctors told her she wouldn't be able to have kids.
- 19:43So when you have left the body heal the way it's designed to
- 19:49and remove any interference. Your body can do miracles, and I
- 19:52have two of them now, so I love to tell people.
- 19:58Chiropractic gave me my family and allowed us to be able to do
- 20:03everything we have and we just knew we had to tell the world
- 20:06about it. It's not just about pain.
- 20:08It's it's so much more than that.
- 20:10And so many people have no idea about what structural correction
- 20:14can do and how it can actually affect the body.
- 20:17So talk about that. So the you're reproductive, your
- 20:24again your back issue or your nerves are being pinched, Yeah.
- 20:29So, yeah, and, and I almost hate to use the word nerve pinching
- 20:32because, you know, there's a lot of people who understand that
- 20:35it's a lot more than that and it is a lot more than that.
- 20:38But just no, no, no. But that is that is exactly how
- 20:42we explain it. So because it's the easiest way
- 20:44to understand. That exactly.
- 20:49All parents out there, you already know we're multitasking.
- 20:52So I would say, you know, I was the girl that would, you know,
- 20:57had I played volleyball and basketball my whole life, I was
- 20:59on the court, but I would suffer through, like, debilitating
- 21:02cramps and menstrual cycles. And I just thought that was my
- 21:05normal, you know, And then, yeah, I get to whatever it was
- 21:111718 and I had an abnormal Pap smear.
- 21:14And, you know, they came back and told me then.
- 21:17But back then it was called a leap procedure where they would
- 21:19go in and they would cut, burn and freeze out.
- 21:21You know, a large portion of my cervix is what happens.
- 21:23And it really, it wasn't that necessarily.
- 21:26It was the scar tissue that they were telling me like, hey,
- 21:28there's going to be a really hard time conceiving and holding
- 21:30on to a pregnancy because of the health of your, of your cervix
- 21:33now. And start to get graphic for you
- 21:37guys out there. But that's just anatomy.
- 21:39And so, you know, I kind of wrote that off.
- 21:41I was like, well, I don't want kids anyways, you know, I'm 1718
- 21:43years old. I'm not thinking about kids, you
- 21:45know, So that was really just, you know, my, my first
- 21:49experience. But then, you know, you can meet
- 21:50somebody as amazing as him and you're like, man, I, I, he, the
- 21:53world needs more of him, you know, and so, and, but we didn't
- 21:57really even think it was a possibility, you know, for us
- 22:01until God decided it was. And now we have 2 amazing boys
- 22:04and you know, and so, but, but back to the structural part of
- 22:07it, my, my personal subluxation pattern or misalignment,
- 22:14whatever you want to call it was in my low back.
- 22:17So that was the main thing for me.
- 22:18So like when you look at the spine from the front, it should
- 22:21be straight up and down from from front to back.
- 22:23And I had a curve in my spine here in the lumbar part.
- 22:25And all of the nerves that exit that part of your spine, they
- 22:28control your GI tract, your, your absorption of nutrients,
- 22:32your kidneys, your pancreas, liver, gallbladder, spleen,
- 22:34reproductive organs. And so where I had my main issue
- 22:38or my miscommunication was to the kidney, to the liver, to the
- 22:42the GI tract and to the reproductive organs.
- 22:45And that's where I have had issues my whole life.
- 22:48So, you know, it just made so much sense to me.
- 22:50He talks about the the doctor that I say saved my life, Doctor
- 22:54Brent Smith, if you ever watch this, I love you so much.
- 22:56You saved my life and gave me a family.
- 22:58But yeah, he, he just sat down and clearly showed me.
- 23:01He showed me how to read an X-ray.
- 23:04And then he showed me what my X-ray looked like.
- 23:06And then he helped me correlate that back to the function of
- 23:08what was going on inside my body and my organs.
- 23:11And no one had ever done that for me before.
- 23:13And I, I remember thinking like that it cannot just be that
- 23:17simple, that the brain's not communicating and there's a
- 23:19block in the road. It can't be that simple.
- 23:22But then I watched my life turn around.
- 23:23I watched me get my health back. And I looked healthy.
- 23:26Yeah, I looked like a healthy girl, but I was not healthy,
- 23:30right, You know? So I think that's a
- 23:32misconception. Too is yeah, for sure that
- 23:35you're going to see it on the outside.
- 23:37But no it does make like Doctor Travis is what I call him.
- 23:46He like when he explained my own X-rays I was like wow.
- 23:52Like it just makes logical. Sense once you've seen it, it
- 23:55does. And it's been explained that way
- 23:58like the like when pathways are blocked, they're not going to,
- 24:02there's not going to be any communication.
- 24:03Right. Yep.
- 24:05And that for us is the biggest premise.
- 24:08Like that's one of the things that means the most to us about
- 24:10practicing physicians is like, I can't tell you how many doctor's
- 24:14offices and appointments I walked into and this is no,
- 24:17again, this is no shame to the medical community because y'all
- 24:19are busy. It's overloaded, we know.
- 24:22But I would walk in, I would wait and somebody would come and
- 24:25they'd be on the computer, you know, typing, not really making
- 24:28eye contact, asking me questions.
- 24:30And then somebody would come in and say, here's your
- 24:31prescription. And then that would be it.
- 24:34And I refuse to give people that same experience because it
- 24:38feels, it just feels hopeless. Like it, it just feels like
- 24:43you're just an, especially if you're a person who is fighting
- 24:46for your health and you are trying to get to the root cause
- 24:49and trying to understand what is going on inside your body.
- 24:52And that's the, you know, and that's just the level of, of
- 24:54human interaction that you get through that.
- 24:57I, I never want anybody to feel like that.
- 24:59You know, I want people to understand what's going on in
- 25:01their body, how this could be affecting it, and then help them
- 25:03walk through all the other things like diet and exercise
- 25:06and all the other contributing factors to.
- 25:08Health. So I mean, that's so important
- 25:10because. Yeah, so many people, especially
- 25:12when you're going through something that it's just not
- 25:14getting corrected, you just feel helpless and you're like, OK,
- 25:20like this is all that you're going to give to me.
- 25:22But yeah, when you do come here, you guys do sit down and they
- 25:26schedule appointments and you talk with and talk about what's
- 25:30going on with your body beyond just what is going on with your
- 25:34back. Right.
- 25:36Yeah. Right, and that I think that is
- 25:37important because so many people don't they are just like, OK, we
- 25:41I got to get to the next patient, right.
- 25:43This will help, like when you're treating the symptom instead of
- 25:47the actual. That's a great way to put it,
- 25:49Yeah. We like to look for the root
- 25:50cause, not just a dress. OK, so you already covered a
- 25:55little bit of this, but what do you wish more people understood
- 25:57about chiropractor care you've been?
- 26:02Jonesing for this? Well, I, I just, I think there's
- 26:05just a lot out there. And today, so much, so more than
- 26:10even when I got started a decade ago in chiropractic, you can
- 26:16learn anything on YouTube or TikTok.
- 26:17I mean, you can and there's a lot of information out there.
- 26:20But I think one of the top misconceptions of chiropractic
- 26:23care is, well, number one, I'll go on a little bit of a soapbox.
- 26:28Is that OK? I would say number one, that it
- 26:30is pseudoscience because that is so far from the truth.
- 26:33If you look at anybody like Doctor Heidi Havoc or anybody in
- 26:38neurological research for chiropractic, there is tons of
- 26:41books on research of chiropractic and how I mean
- 26:45chiropractic really it is neurology.
- 26:46I mean, it's really just how your brain communicates with
- 26:49your body and it, it really is just that simple.
- 26:51So you know, yes, there was a Doctor Who, you know, you know,
- 26:57the Dee Dee Palmer, the very first doctor of chiropractic,
- 27:00the first documented chiropractic adjustment.
- 27:02You know, people say, well, he was a magnetic healer.
- 27:05This is, you know, Foo Foo voodoo kind of thing.
- 27:07But you know, and that and that, you know, there might be some
- 27:10truth to how we got started in that.
- 27:12But today in 2026, there is no reason that we shouldn't have
- 27:16evidence based care and be be really basing our patient care
- 27:21off of what is has been researched and shown and there's
- 27:24a ton out there. And then?
- 27:27The world has become more accurate.
- 27:31Oh, absolutely. Yeah.
- 27:32And, and I think like it's actually just being studied more
- 27:36so, but you know, chiropractic is really just releasing your
- 27:39own innate intelligence. Chiropractic doesn't cure
- 27:42anything. Chiropractic doesn't heal
- 27:44anything. Chiropractic allows your body to
- 27:46do what it's designed to do, which is heal and function at
- 27:48the optimal level. And God designed us like that.
- 27:50And all we do is let God do the work.
- 27:52That is literally it. We move the bone, God does the
- 27:54healing. I mean, that's what we say.
- 27:54We don't actually move the bones, we move the joints.
- 27:56But you know, that's the that's the saying in chiropractic, you
- 27:58know what I mean? So, so that's the first thing is
- 28:01really just. Letting your body do what it was
- 28:05meant. To do right.
- 28:05And for some people that kind of that brings me to my next point,
- 28:09because for some people that takes time, you know what I
- 28:11mean? So some people have really
- 28:13chronic issues and we want things like that.
- 28:17We do especially when you're in pain and especially when you
- 28:21know, when you've been dealing with this.
- 28:22And I've tried XY and Z and beyond.
- 28:25And I think one of the things that we hear all the time is,
- 28:30oh, I don't want to try chiropractic.
- 28:32I've already done that. I've tried chiropractic and it
- 28:34didn't work for me. And I think what I would tell
- 28:36the public is give it another shot.
- 28:40There are hundreds of techniques of chiropractic and you know,
- 28:45just like your hair stylist or your tattoo artist or whoever,
- 28:49you got to find the right fit for you and you and one, you
- 28:52that might not have been the right, you know, that might not
- 28:54have been the right vibe for you.
- 28:56But two, you get out of chiropractic what you put in.
- 28:59So if your chiropractor is telling you, you know, this is
- 29:03your recommended treatment plan, these are the things that you
- 29:06need to be doing at home and here's other ways to support
- 29:10your healing. And you only come in and get
- 29:12adjusted every so often and don't do any of the other stuff
- 29:16at home care. Yeah, then of course, you know,
- 29:19then of course it's not going to work or, or if you just go into
- 29:21one of those really quick, you know, weekend type chiropractic
- 29:25places and get an adjustment and don't do it again for three
- 29:28months. And then that's not really, you
- 29:30know, it's not going to work because it takes time to build
- 29:33that dysfunction. So it's going to take time to
- 29:35help your body heal it, so. So another thing that I just
- 29:41want to add on to that is like she was touching on their
- 29:43consistency is key on this. So I think of it as like you
- 29:47were going to go to a gym, if you really wanted to get in
- 29:50better shape, would you go to the gym once a month, right?
- 29:53It's not, it's not going to happen.
- 29:55You have to build consistency. You have to, with what we do,
- 29:59we're structural correction docs.
- 30:01We want to try to get your spine in the best possible position so
- 30:03that it can heal and function the way it's designed to.
- 30:07And that takes consistency because when you get an
- 30:10adjustment, what do you think is going to happen?
- 30:13It's going to want to go right back, right?
- 30:14Because it's been that way for so long.
- 30:17So we you have to find somebody if if you want long term care,
- 30:21you want long term results, you have to retrain the body.
- 30:24You have to retrain the muscles to hold the the spine in the
- 30:27correct position. So a lot goes into it.
- 30:30It's not just unfortunately of, you know, one magical adjustment
- 30:35that it can temporarily make you feel better, but that's why it
- 30:38always comes back. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:40So not only moving the joints, but inflammation in the body has
- 30:44a massive amount to do with it. So there's so much inflammation
- 30:50in our bodies, the amount of systemic inflammation in our
- 30:53bodies now that has risen so much.
- 30:55I mean, that's, that's total body inflammation, right?
- 30:58It's, it's a lot of things that you need to so much, right?
- 31:04Our lifestyle now that's completely different.
- 31:07When you do have misalignments, that's going to cause
- 31:10inflammation in joints and in bones and then that's going to
- 31:12cause degeneration and that's going to just, it's a big
- 31:15snowball effect there. So what we're eating, what our
- 31:21lifestyle is, when we talk about most people that come in here,
- 31:26somebody has some type of stress.
- 31:28Like it's a big one because we're so busy nowadays and
- 31:32everything is always rush, rush, rush.
- 31:34There's always by the time you go to bed, you have so much on
- 31:37your brain and we don't get good sleep.
- 31:39And again, another big snowball effect that's going to be
- 31:42affecting our our health, maybe not today or tomorrow, but a
- 31:46year, five years, 10 years down the line.
- 31:48Because everybody always asks me how did this happen?
- 31:52That's always the number one question we get.
- 31:54How did this happen? Why did this happen?
- 31:56I don't know your life, but I can usually put some things
- 32:00together based on the history that you've told me.
- 32:03And if you are stressed, that means you're not going to get
- 32:05good sleep. When you're not getting good
- 32:07sleep, you're not going to have energy for the next day.
- 32:10Your muscles and and body aren't going to be able to heal through
- 32:13the night because that's when most of our healing takes place.
- 32:17Then if you're not healed, your muscles are already fatigued
- 32:20from the day before. Then when you go to work or
- 32:22whatever you're going to do the next day, you're already tired.
- 32:25You're going to have worse posture.
- 32:27That's going to lead to more injuries.
- 32:28That's going to lead to more stress.
- 32:30And again, it's just it gets worse and worse and worse the
- 32:35farther down the line you get. And then we just want to take a
- 32:38medication to try to cover up one of those symptoms when in
- 32:41reality, you're never getting down to the root cause.
- 32:43And like Doctor Rachel was saying, that's why we just keep
- 32:45falling down the line of taking more and more medications
- 32:48instead of just get down to the root cause.
- 32:50What's causing this in the 1st place?
- 32:52Get that corrected. And also, I mean, we all want
- 32:55quick fixes like Rachel was saying, and that that can be
- 32:59difficult. Do you see when you have
- 33:02patients that come in and you show them, do they typically
- 33:06stick with it? Yeah, for the most part, yes,
- 33:10yes. I mean, the thing with what we
- 33:13do is we can't want it more than everybody.
- 33:17It's a partner, it's a partnership.
- 33:18We're in it together. We can give everybody all the
- 33:20tools. We can do everything that we can
- 33:22do for everybody here in our office, but when you leave the
- 33:25office, there's there's nothing I can do anymore at that point.
- 33:28So it's really if you really want this, That's why we want to
- 33:32show people that there can be change, right?
- 33:35That's why we always want the classes and the workshops and
- 33:38things to show people life is a evolving change.
- 33:42Like we're always something, always new is coming.
- 33:45So what else can you continue to do to be healthier?
- 33:48Because it's not just about longevity of life, it's quality
- 33:52of life at the same time. So we want people to be able to
- 33:56play with their kids and grandkids and great grandkids as
- 33:58long as possible, to be able to go on hikes and vacations as
- 34:02long as possible. Last thing I want is to be in a
- 34:05nursing home at 70 years old, right?
- 34:08That's never what I want. That's never what I want for
- 34:10anybody. We should be able to live our
- 34:12life to the fullest as long as humanly possible.
- 34:16Our bodies are designed to live a lot longer than what we give
- 34:18it credit for. Now we're just not taking care
- 34:21of our bodies. Yeah, it's so, so true.
- 34:24Yeah. And we're all very sedimentary.
- 34:28Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, best and worst thing I
- 34:31would say is the the whole COVID situation cause that created a
- 34:36lot more sitting jobs and stationary jobs which we talked
- 34:40about. It is sitting is the new
- 34:42smoking, right. It's going to create so much
- 34:45long term health issues that it might not today or tomorrow like
- 34:49we're saying, but over time that creates a plethora of of health
- 34:53issues just in. Yeah, I mean, that does make
- 34:57sense here. Just kind of the new downfall of
- 35:00our society, Like we sit so much and we weren't really, we
- 35:03weren't created to do that. What are some simple habits
- 35:08people can begin practicing to better support their physical
- 35:12health? You think Standing.
- 35:14Yeah. Stand up, stand up posture.
- 35:17Posture is big and that's for people that do come in here more
- 35:21desk jobs and stationary jobs. I tell them all the time, if you
- 35:25have a smart watch, if you have a watch, whatever, just keep
- 35:27track of time. Set an alarm every 30 to 45
- 35:30minutes, stand up, reposition yourself because nobody can have
- 35:33great posture for longer than 45 minutes, especially while you're
- 35:35working. So that's, that's a huge one.
- 35:39And really just do research, like figure out what's what's
- 35:43going on in your life, what could be causing different
- 35:46things, get more active. Yeah, personal habits are huge.
- 35:51I would. Say walking is wildly
- 35:52underrated. I mean, just walking for 30
- 35:54minutes a day or getting up and moving after every meal.
- 35:57I mean, it's such a simple thing to do, but it's, you know.
- 36:01I'm you know, I talk. Himself, I would say walking is
- 36:07definitely the most underrated, you know, tool and it's free
- 36:10and, you know, especially here in Texas, walking in the
- 36:13sunshine, although it's like 1000° outside, but get some
- 36:18vitamin D yeah, go outside, get in nature, you know, decrease
- 36:21your stress, decrease your cortisol, get connected back to,
- 36:24you know, Mother Nature and just go for a 30 minute walk.
- 36:28That morning sunshine is good for you, yeah.
- 36:30Absolutely. OK, So what are you both proud
- 36:34of in your life and career that you've built most proud of?
- 36:43Besides our family, you know, I would always, I would always say
- 36:46family. That's something that, you know,
- 36:48we didn't even honestly think we could have.
- 36:50So I would say first and foremost that I would say just
- 36:55the way our relationship personally has grown together,
- 36:58our relationship with God and and that whole journey has been
- 37:02not always a smooth one. That's in me personally.
- 37:06I went some big time rocky roads in that field and and starting
- 37:11to come out on the other side now has been massive for us and
- 37:14our family all together. And of course, this office, you
- 37:19know, being able to talk about that A.
- 37:21Little bit, I was just going to ask you like how do you bring in
- 37:23your faith because it is noted here, but into your practice and
- 37:27talk about that? Yeah, we always just like we
- 37:30said, I mean, you can, you can, I'll let you go more on this
- 37:34one. You're you're going to say,
- 37:36we've moved the bone of God does the healing.
- 37:37So you're going to say, yeah. And we, we do.
- 37:39I mean, we say that and we say, you know, after you get
- 37:41adjusted, we say your power is on.
- 37:43And that really is true because once you remove the interference
- 37:46to your nervous system and your brain is able to connect more to
- 37:49your body, it is literally like your lights coming on.
- 37:51And some people really have felt that, you know, you can feel it
- 37:54immediately after it's kind of slow burn, whatever it might be.
- 37:57But I would definitely say you can't know.
- 38:03And, and you know, people might disagree with me on this, but
- 38:06the more you know about human function, anatomy, Physiology,
- 38:11especially on a micro level, on a cellular nano level, the
- 38:15intricate inter workings of the way that our body is designed
- 38:20and living breathing things is designed.
- 38:22You cannot design you you can't, you can't deny the design and
- 38:27the creator of that. And that in itself is just, it's
- 38:33just the most life giving thing. You know, God is the source of
- 38:37everything. And you know, I had a kid ask me
- 38:40one time, OK, so if the brain controls everything, what
- 38:42controls the brain? And I still get goosebumps when
- 38:45I think about that because what controls, you know, what, what
- 38:47gives us life? You know, it's that life source.
- 38:50And the expression of life is God, I think.
- 38:52And so, and, and for us, you know, we might not be for
- 38:57everybody, you know what I mean? But we don't, we don't sugarcoat
- 39:00that here because your body has an intelligent, incredible
- 39:04design. And the body really doesn't need
- 39:07any help from the outside. It needs no interference from
- 39:10the inside. So getting a chiropractic
- 39:12adjustment removes the interference and allows it to do
- 39:14what God designed it to do. I love that.
- 39:17Yeah. And when you see the miracles
- 39:18that we've got to witness, not just our own, but people that
- 39:21come in with no hope and that they've tried absolutely
- 39:25everything and, and they're just crushed in life.
- 39:27And you see literally like she was saying, when we say your
- 39:31power is on this, the light that just turns on or when they come
- 39:34in and they're a completely different person.
- 39:36And not only for that, it's everybody that they come in
- 39:39contact with and it just spreads like wildfire.
- 39:42And like it's, it's such an A magical feeling that it's hard
- 39:46to say that there's, there's, you know, that's why we have
- 39:49faith in God in here is because it's so magical what we get to.
- 39:53Yeah, exactly. In our in our eyes anyways,
- 39:56Right. Yeah.
- 39:58And I think too, like, I think that's why we love working with
- 40:00veterans and service members and things like that.
- 40:02And not, not saying veterans are curmudgee, you know, or, or, but
- 40:06but we do see so many people that are.
- 40:09You know, kind of grumpy, you know, because if you've been in
- 40:12pain for so long, if you've had this mindset for so long, which
- 40:15a lot of service members, you know, are just dealing with, are
- 40:18just dealing with it, you know what I mean?
- 40:20And that Oxycontin isn't touching it, you know, but but
- 40:24that that also changes your biochemistry, it changes your
- 40:26Physiology and it and it kind of just makes you a grumpy person.
- 40:30I love my favorite patient. I have a lot of favorites,
- 40:33babies being one of them. But I think probably my favorite
- 40:35testimonies are, you know, the grumpy old guys that come in and
- 40:39they're all, you know, you can't help me and you know, I'm too
- 40:42far gone, you know, that kind of mindset.
- 40:44And then, you know, you see them in a month, two months later,
- 40:47once they start to, you know, get some good sleep and function
- 40:50a lot better. And they are completely
- 40:52different people. And the testimony from the
- 40:54women, from the wives are what's amazing.
- 40:57You know, you know, my husband's a completely different person.
- 41:00He's nice now. You know, that kind of thing
- 41:02that is that's. Yeah, I mean, that is huge when
- 41:06you hear testimonies from the people in their circle, right?
- 41:10That's like this person. It made me think of when the
- 41:13Holy Spirit changes somebody. Yeah, I mean, that's what it
- 41:18makes me think of. You guys are allowing your body
- 41:21to function, how God created us. So yeah, that's amazing.
- 41:28Let's see what else I have in here.
- 41:32Is there anything else that you would like to discuss with our
- 41:35listeners or provide some insight into maybe better
- 41:41health, the physical body health?
- 41:43And you already said like standing and walking, but what's
- 41:48the mindset? Yeah.
- 41:50Mindset's a big, big factor of it when we go out, yeah, we sure
- 41:54do. So one of the things that we
- 41:56always ask people when they come in is what's your definition of
- 41:59health? I think that's huge when we want
- 42:03to see people's outlook and, and what people view health as.
- 42:06I mean, when I go out and I ask, the typical answers I get are
- 42:10how you look, how you feel, how you eat, do you exercise?
- 42:15And then the latest 1 is a lot of people have been coming
- 42:17around to how your mindset is, which is all great aspects of
- 42:22health. It's not the actual definition
- 42:24of health, right? The actual definition of health
- 42:26is your body's ability to heal and function at its optimal
- 42:29level 100% of the time. And that's when where the
- 42:33nervous system comes into play. So really understanding what
- 42:38your view of health is, I think is, is really important.
- 42:41And mindset's so big, so many people have no idea.
- 42:45They think it's like the Foo Foo, Oh, you're going to think
- 42:48you're going to be better. Well, there's actually
- 42:50physiological and chemical changes that happen in your body
- 42:53when you have a better outlook or if you have a worse outlook.
- 42:57And then there's the, I call it the weird God factor of like
- 43:01when you're a kid and I think thing we talked about it was
- 43:05when you're a kid and you act like you're sick because you
- 43:07don't want to go to school, you're like, oh, I got a tummy
- 43:10ache, I got a tummy ache. I don't want to go to school.
- 43:11And then sure enough, at the end of the day, you have a stomach
- 43:14ache. You know it is the.
- 43:15Power of the tongue. I mean, your mindset is
- 43:17everything. So if you think you're sick, if
- 43:19you think there's no hope, I mean, that's what comes into
- 43:22your life. So mindset, I think before
- 43:24anything else, you have to know that you're created to heal.
- 43:28You have to know that you're created to, you know, have an
- 43:32abundant life. I was trying to think of that
- 43:33Bible verse that says take control of your thoughts.
- 43:37You guys know that one. Don't ask me to quote, I can
- 43:40tell you. Everyone.
- 43:42In the body, yeah, right. But there's a scripture that
- 43:46says, you know, take, take every thought cast.
- 43:49Yes. Exactly.
- 43:51Sorry out there, I don't know which Bible verse that is, but
- 43:54like, and I mean, and I think that's exactly what God is
- 43:57trying to tell us is like we have to not only like it's not
- 44:02like, Oh, I'm thinking about that, but it's like, why am I
- 44:06thinking about that and how can I think better?
- 44:09That's right, You're right. How, how your mindset, like I
- 44:13was going through a class this morning that was talking about
- 44:17kind of cognitive distance, where distance, where we get in
- 44:23these patterns of thinking and, and, and once like maybe it's
- 44:28because we don't feel well, right, our bodies and we wake up
- 44:32every day to that same pain and we're like, you know, it just
- 44:36wears on your mind. Like that's just what I'm going
- 44:38to feel like. But you guys are allowing them
- 44:40to feel different and which eventually leads to the mind a
- 44:45perspective changing. It's because some people can't
- 44:50change their mindset until their physical changes.
- 44:53Yeah, yeah, it's, I mean, it's hard if you've been going
- 44:56through all that, it's hard not to have that mentality.
- 44:58And that though not necessarily just the woe is me mentality
- 45:02aspect of it, but it affects so much of your life.
- 45:05You know, if it, if pain is getting so bad to where you
- 45:08can't bend down, you can't do the things that you love, you're
- 45:11going to be in a worse mood. So it's really, really hard to
- 45:14not be in that mindset, but kind of on that same level.
- 45:19One thing that I would always love to share with people is you
- 45:23have to try though. You have to try just giving up
- 45:27and just hoping something is going to get better.
- 45:30That never works for anybody. No successful person or miracles
- 45:34happen to people that just gave up, right?
- 45:36You have to keep trying. You have to try to keep putting
- 45:39your best foot forward. Try to stay as positive as
- 45:41possible because it's always easy just to think about
- 45:45yourself and you're just like, oh, this is just going to affect
- 45:47me. Well, it doesn't.
- 45:49It affects everybody around you. So even though, yeah, if you
- 45:53think I'll just let myself be sick, well, who's going to take
- 45:56care of you when you're so sick that you can't take care of
- 45:58yourself? That's when it starts affecting
- 46:00everybody. So don't have that mentality.
- 46:04It's not any type of cell like singling out yourself.
- 46:09I mean think of your family, think of everybody else and stay
- 46:13as positive as possible. I think one of the main things
- 46:15in life is to try to help your neighbor essentially, you know,
- 46:19and if you can stay as positive as possible, that's going to
- 46:23help somebody else and if. You can't yourself then I've
- 46:27noticed like surround yourself by people that are they aren't
- 46:31going to feed the negative, right, And maybe you're feeding
- 46:36the negative, but if you're around someone that's like is
- 46:40going to help you with that, that is important.
- 46:43And then eventually you'll, you know, move over to the being
- 46:47more positive. But it is it is who you surround
- 46:51yourself with and not isolating yourself because it's easy to
- 46:55go. I'm not going to affect anyone.
- 46:57I am like I'm I'm just going to be in my bubble and and then I
- 47:03won't bother anybody. But then your mind gets worse
- 47:05and worse and then it's just a vicious cycle.
- 47:09So I do think that's important when you come here to is it Max
- 47:15living chiropractic? Like you guys work on that whole
- 47:19person and then you try to help with mindset and and coming in
- 47:25here often and then your whole team, you know, ask like, oh,
- 47:30how are you today? What's going on?
- 47:32You know, I think that's important.
- 47:34Yeah, yeah. So we live by what we call the
- 47:36five essentials of because there's more than just one facet
- 47:39of being healthy, right, Mindset being one of them.
- 47:42So it's core chiropractic mindset, nutrition, oxygen and
- 47:46exercise. And then minimizing toxins.
- 47:48We always say minimizing toxins because you can't eliminate them
- 47:51all, but we're always trying to figure out with each patient
- 47:55what is the one area that you need to approved the most.
- 47:58Like so many people just don't know where to start, right,
- 48:01right. So we try to sit down with them
- 48:04and figure out what that is and what, what are some some
- 48:07starting steps to get that ball rolling, start some small
- 48:11victories and. And to your point, you're
- 48:14talking about, you know, surrounding yourself with the
- 48:16right type of people. I always tell people that, you
- 48:18know, when you're minimizing your toxin, sometimes those are
- 48:20relationships and. Sometimes those are right, and
- 48:22sometimes. You know, you just have to step
- 48:24away. You can heal your box.
- 48:27Yeah, yeah. OK.
- 48:32Do you want to take the tour of of your your place here?
- 48:37Absolutely. Do you have anything else you
- 48:39want? To share, is there anything else
- 48:40that you can think of? We pretty much covered it all.
- 48:44I mean, we're happy to be a resource for people, you know,
- 48:47no matter what. Yeah, if you have a question
- 48:49about anything. From the military community like
- 48:53in regards to like making a huge transition, continuing to
- 48:57educate yourself like. Yeah, definitely continue to
- 49:00educate yourself. Don't be afraid to reach out.
- 49:03I know a lot of us are always scared, or not necessarily
- 49:06scared, but hesitant. Yeah.
- 49:09You, you don't want to feel vulnerable.
- 49:11You don't want to seem weak. And it's especially coming from
- 49:14like a combat guy like myself. We never want to put our
- 49:17emotions out there. We never want to make it seem
- 49:19like we're weaker. We're always put on that front.
- 49:23So be open, be OK to talk to other people, find a good
- 49:27community. There are a lot of resources.
- 49:29You just got to do a little bit of of research and and figure
- 49:33out what it is that you want. I think that's a big, big part
- 49:37of it. So that would be really be my my
- 49:42big take on getting out. I would have transition.
- 49:46I would. Have a chiropractic table right
- 49:47at the gate when they get off the plane.
- 49:49I mean, you got to get adjusted goal.
- 49:51You've got to get adjusted. I mean, your body goes through
- 49:53so much. You know, you're sleeping,
- 49:56you're sleeping not much. You know, you're going through a
- 49:59lot of stress. You're putting your body through
- 50:03unimaginable, you know, physical things get get adjusted.
- 50:07Don't sleep on chiropractic here.
- 50:09That's that's my good. Note.
- 50:11Yeah, yeah. And then to well, one last
- 50:14question and then we'll do the walk around.
- 50:18Both of you have had journeys of that you needed resilience.
- 50:24Talk about that in regards to where have you seen that
- 50:28resilience and where has it LED you to like in your lives?
- 50:33Like does that like what has helped you carried forward?
- 50:38Like we've talked about, people were around education, things
- 50:43like that, but for y'all's journeys specifically, what has
- 50:46been your resilience and carrying helped carried you
- 50:49forward? Because it takes a lot to get
- 50:52here where you're at. Yeah, Yeah.
- 50:54We were thinking about that actually right before you came
- 50:59carrying it forward, like what that means to us.
- 51:02So even in chiropractic care and chiropractic care, that's one of
- 51:07the main things that we have not necessarily care it forward, but
- 51:11guard. It well, Guard it well.
- 51:13So we always want to guard that and carry that on.
- 51:16It's our duty to share with not just other chiropractors, but
- 51:19the world, the power of the body, what we're actually
- 51:22capable of. And it's continuously gaining as
- 51:25much knowledge and, and, and life experiences to pass that on
- 51:29to the next person and to try to make either the next person's
- 51:34life easier or understand life or their bodies or whatever the
- 51:37situation that they're going through, make it easier for that
- 51:40person or let them know that they're not alone.
- 51:43So that way we can just continuously, we should be
- 51:45building as a community, not just staying level or down
- 51:49grading. We should be continuously
- 51:50getting smarter, knowing more, empowering each other more and
- 51:54not trying to tear each other down South.
- 51:57I think that's one of the main things that we want to do and
- 51:58that's why we try to go out and do community events and and try
- 52:02to be out in the public. And I want people to ask me
- 52:05questions about anything health related or life related.
- 52:09I'm happy to show share my stories.
- 52:11I'm not perfect. I'm far from it and have made a
- 52:13lot of mistakes in my life. A lot of mistakes.
- 52:15Yeah, I think I don't know, like personally for me, I think I've
- 52:18just tried a lot of things like I've done, you know, I've been
- 52:21in a lot of different fields. I've tried a lot of things, you
- 52:25know, and just always, always learning, you know, I think that
- 52:29helps you be resilient. You're never the smartest person
- 52:32in the room, you know? Don't be afraid.
- 52:35Yeah. Don't be afraid to put yourself
- 52:36out there. Don't be afraid to be an open
- 52:37book and be vulnerable. Like we're all just human.
- 52:40It's all our first time, you know?
- 52:41So, you know, there's really no. And each person that comes in
- 52:46here is different. So for me, I always want to be
- 52:49prepared for that next person. So that's why you have to
- 52:52continue to get smarter, continue to to educate yourself
- 52:55and to push yourself because there could be somebody out
- 52:58there that needs us and we have to be ready.
- 53:01To learn something different from their.
- 53:03Absolutely, Absolutely. Be like the bones, right?
- 53:07Or the the joints Resilient, yes.
- 53:12Absolutely to be. Resilient.
- 53:14You know, we really are made to be resilient.
- 53:16God made. All.
- 53:17Of this, you know, the sunsets and the birds and bees and trees
- 53:20and still said that you're his best words so.
- 53:23You know, I don't know us and sunsets I don't and I'm not sure
- 53:28if we win. OK, So we are going to do
- 53:32something different here on here's the word and we're going
- 53:34to walk around their business so you can see.
- 53:40All right, so. OK.
- 53:45So, yeah, so normally you'll see somebody back here behind the
- 53:48desk, you know, warm face welcoming you.
- 53:50And then this is what you were talking about.
- 53:52This is what we call our miracle wall.
- 53:54So we do. This is growing miracles of
- 53:56patient testimonies who have walked out the five essentials
- 53:59of health and had, you know, a better outcome on the other
- 54:03side. And a lot of these people are
- 54:04still here. They're still continuing to take
- 54:07care of their health and, you know, be supported in those
- 54:10ways. And of course, you know, shout
- 54:15out to Max Living. So we are actually a network of
- 54:18providers all across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico.
- 54:23We're everywhere. So if you like what you heard,
- 54:26you know, just let us know. There's practitioners all across
- 54:29the place of Max Living Chiropractic who can, you know,
- 54:31help you empower, you help get to the root cause.
- 54:34We have a couple of exam rooms here.
- 54:37So here's one of our, you know, consult rooms.
- 54:40With the the spine over there. Yeah, we have to have a, we have
- 54:44to have a real life model. And then you guys have a play
- 54:47area? We're super family friendly.
- 54:49I mean, obviously you guys see we have our own kids in here,
- 54:52but there's usually two or more kids in here at all times
- 54:55playing. I mean, as you can see has been
- 54:56well loved today. And don't worry, we do wipe down
- 55:01everything and sanitize it because I know those little
- 55:02sticky fingers. And then we have adjustment bays
- 55:06here. So pretty, pretty standard, you
- 55:09know, typical chiropractic table.
- 55:11We use drops. So if you guys have been to
- 55:13chiropractic before or know anything about it, the table
- 55:16lifts up and comes down so that just it's kind of easier on you
- 55:19guys. We use tools as well.
- 55:22So we use what we call the Arthurston here.
- 55:25It's got a couple different settings on it.
- 55:27And so that's one of the ways that we can help adjust.
- 55:30And then we also use activator, Dr. Travis's level 2 certified
- 55:34and Activator. So that's just a different
- 55:36couple different techniques of chiropractic that we integrate
- 55:39to make sure it's really customizable, you know, for for
- 55:42each patient. Then they have this area.
- 55:45Let's see if I can capture that. Yeah.
- 55:49So this is our, we call it the hot seat area or the wobble
- 55:54room. These little cushions right
- 55:56here, they help you get movement in your body, You know, warm up
- 56:00your discs, get movement in the joints, hydrate your fascia, All
- 56:03those good things that we teach you, movements of the spine to
- 56:06make sure that you're really warming up your spine, preparing
- 56:09to get a force applied to it before the adjustment.
- 56:12And then of course, the traction units on the wall there.
- 56:15That's another big thing of how to open up the joints of the
- 56:18spine, how to get, you know, get some fluid, get some movement in
- 56:21there. I would say not for everybody.
- 56:24Don't just buy a traction unit. Try to set it up at home and
- 56:26look on YouTube, you know, have a have a professional look, look
- 56:30at your spine. And then we do neuromuscular
- 56:32rehabilitation here, some reeducation.
- 56:35So there's a vibration plate and we use the Pettibon body
- 56:38weighting system. Just again, for us, we take in
- 56:49house X-rays. I would say most Max living
- 56:53offices have their own X-ray system.
- 56:56It's very important to us to you know, be able to measure
- 56:59everything down to the millimeter, know exactly what's
- 57:01going on. You know, what joints are you
- 57:02targeting where, where does the adjustment need to happen.
- 57:05So that way it's really specific for each person.
- 57:08Yeah. And I think that's important.
- 57:10Like absolutely X-rays, absolutely, yeah.
- 57:13And they're. Getting some adjustments.
- 57:14Yes, this is the most important system of your body so.
- 57:18So you guys have Christmas in July We.
- 57:20Do we do? It's Christmas in July so we've
- 57:23got the festive decor going on. We love Christmas, so we do it
- 57:27twice. And then right here, this is the
- 57:31five essentials that Doctor Travis was talking about
- 57:33earlier. Of course, you know,
- 57:34chiropractic is our main, our main focus, but we do nutrition
- 57:38consultations. He was talking about mindset.
- 57:41We talk about oxygen in the body, oxygen through exercise,
- 57:45and then of course, minimizing toxins.
- 57:47So that's our, you know, our pillars of health.
- 57:49Of course, these are the things that contribute to health, but
- 57:52there's only one thing that controls it and that's nervous
- 57:54system. So that's first.
- 57:56Awesome. Well, thank you so much for the
- 57:59the tour and we're we're just gonna say goodbye.
- 58:03Thank you guys, both for being here and talking so honestly and
- 58:06thank. You for having us?
- 58:07Yeah, Thank you for having. Us and thanks for, you know,
- 58:10having our whole family there, yeah.
- 58:12I and I, I was so glad that like I thought you felt comfortable
- 58:16to bring him. And that's just life.
- 58:18That's how this is. So thanks everyone for tuning
