- 0:05SPEAKER_01: You can hear that, right?
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Digi Share sound.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: That's good news.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I'm your host, Mike Wade, co-host over there, Mike White.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: What's up, man?
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: How are you doing?
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: I'm good, man.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Good.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: How are you?
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: I'm good.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen you in uh two days.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Two days.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: We're spending 36 hours together in North Carolina.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: I'm still a little sleepy, honestly.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I'm still a little tired, still catching up from our um epic trip and obviously resulted in a total thrashing of uh the proud wolf pack.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Um a little about this this weekend.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: A lot of yeah, a lot of emotions.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: A lot of this, a lot of this didn't help much on the as on the final scoreboard, didn't show, but there was a lot of pride going into the stadium.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: A lot of pride, John and Chanton.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: A lot of John and Chanton.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: So those of you don't know, Mike and Mike and I, we Mike and Mike and I, I'm one of those Mike.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: We went to uh Charlotte, North Carolina's past weekend for the Dukes Mayo kickoff classic with one Darren Stedman.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: With one Darren Stedman, Patreon member.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Darren, for uh joining us.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, we watched uh NC State get absolutely throttled by the volunteers, which we'll talk about.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: But we're just gonna talk about kind of our trip.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Um, I was overall really happy with the way it went.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: It's really fun.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: We left Richmond about 7 a.m., four hours.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Great companionship on the way down.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Uh Hickory Tavern lunch was good.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Clutch, clutch bar and grill was sweet, tailgating was fun.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Uh, the scooter ride.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Actually, I'll I was thinking about this telling Ann the other day, my wife.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: I think my highlight of the trip might have been scooter driving drive away from the stadium after the game, navigating through the NC State marching band.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: All the the folks with the timpani drums, they were not excited to see us slaloming them.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: That was um that's the memory that'll be burned in my in my brain, maybe forever.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was a lot of fun.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Darren because we were just standing around in like uh just a mess of people, like figuring out what to do, where to go, and all of a sudden these scooters just appeared out of thin air, and we were like, onward, and we rode our majestic steeds and owned the streets of Charlotte.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: It was awesome.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: We did we rode for about 30 minutes to guess to get out of town, then we called an Uber, then we got back to our hotel.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: But I mean, that was the whole thing, it was just a crazy crazy experience.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Um, uh, the only thing that trip really lacked was kind of a compelling football game.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, the vols dominated them in every, and I'll show you get into that in a second.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's part of me, and we kind of talked a little bit in the drive home on Sunday.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: It was like obviously you can never get be mad when you play a ranked opponent and you beat the brakes off them, but like there was a small part of me that was like mid-late third, mid-fourth, like this be nice if this is like a 10-point game or a 14-point game, and it just was it's a it was a bloodbath.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, NC State did not help, they did not do their part.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: They uh yeah, we can get into the actual football game, but they put up like 30 yards of offense in the second half.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: Um, one thing I did realize, just going back to the overall experience, it did this was not the first time, but you know, we I it I felt old at like a tailgate scene.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: But we went to clutch, we went into this bar, and it was probably the loudest experience of my entire life.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: We were we couldn't even like standing next to each other, couldn't even talk.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: But it was a miracle.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: We got in in like two seconds, we walked through a sea of people all psyched for the game, walked straight up to the bar, got six beers, found a spot to stand with a table next to each other, and it was just chaos around us, couldn't even talk.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, so we didn't stay in that environment for long, but it was definitely it definitely aged us for sure.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: It was a it was a good reminder.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh, I'm not 21 anymore.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Um, and also I'm not that upset that I'm not that not 21 anymore.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Because that's where 20 years ago, maybe even 10-15 years ago, that's where we wanted to be.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: But I was so happy, I was so happy to be outside and talking with you guys and watching the tailgate action.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: But you know, it's a good reminder of the kids, the youths, Mike, the youths, they're gonna be all right.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, even 20, even Mike as a college kid did not want that as his like free game environment.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, I maybe uh maybe I it's such a distant memory that I don't remember it, but at more one of the things I love doing on a college game day as I'm prepping for the game is being around football and active football chatter.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: I want to talk about other games that are going on, I want some music, some some livelihood around me, but I don't want that to be like the central thing in my experience.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: And we could we did that.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: We Hickory Tavern was great.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: We obviously got to watch the Texas Michigan game, which we'll talk about as well.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma State, uh, Arkansas, most of that.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: We didn't catch a whiff of the uh Notre Dame NIU upset, which we'll obviously get into.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Oh um, but um we did some other stuff, and then when once we got out of clutch and over to the tailgate, um, that was you know, then you could start to see the energy start to pick back up.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Folks started, you know, started marching to the stadium.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Place was packed with orange and red, and then all of a sudden, you know, it was back in uh football time.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: But overall, yes, what a whirlwind, whirlwind 30 hours of leaving my door and coming back to it.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Just crazy trip.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Yes, really success, uh, successfully pulled off all the way around.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, so we're gonna so that's so that's kind of the breakdown um about our trip.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: What we're gonna do is we're gonna quickly review uh kind of our takes from this past week, week two.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Week three is actually pretty thin.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: There are not a lot of good games this week, unfortunately.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Um, college game day is going to LSU South Carolina, which is a 16-ranked team against an unranked South Carolina for game.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously, I'm really invested in that game, but just for game day standards, that's a pretty bad choice.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: So, the point is we don't have a lot to talk about week three looking for, but we will make some picks.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: We do have a special, an upset special that those of you who are in the Discord, the Patreon, if you are a member of that community, we have a special treat for you guys.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: So make sure you stick around, listen to that.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Um, but let's go ahead and jump right into it now.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Um, we'll start with the headlining event or what I think headline event.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: It's gotta be Notre Dame going down.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame goes down as a 29-point favorite to NIU.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Don't sleep on the Proud Huskies.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Marcus Freeman now has three horrific home losses on his schedule.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Marshall minus 20 and a half in 22, Stanford minus 14 and a half, also in 22, and NIU minus 28 and a half uh this past Saturday.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Um, this one is probably Brian Leonard's fault.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it was nice as an LSU fan.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: It was nice to hear the Brian Kelly uh haters be kind of quiet for a while because Marcus Freeman, while Brian Kelly is not perfect, Marcus Freeman's now losing miserable games, and he has three on his record already.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: So sorry about it.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, as we continue to get into the season and dog um star quarterbacks, quote unquote star quarterbacks for big time programs.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: We throw Riley Leonard on top of that heap.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: He uh performed pretty poor.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: He went 20 for 32 for 163 yards, two picks.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: Uh, but this the true story of the game was just you know, Notre Dame not looking prepared.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: They couldn't run the ball either.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Very, I mean, they just they looked pretty bad on offense.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh fun fact uh Notre Dame is one of five teams that has yet to throw a touchdown pass this year.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Not a good statistic, just generally speaking.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: So offense is continues to sputter.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Um, we'll see the rest of the schedule goes.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, the question everyone's asking, and I'll go ahead and we'll just quickly hit it real quick.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: Is Notre Dame not will they be finished?
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: Sorry, not do you think they should be finished?
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Will they be finished?
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: Are they done?
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: Are they out of playoff?
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Are they dead?
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Yes or no?
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: I don't think there's enough meat on their schedule to to warrant them being a legit factor down the road.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's my take.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that they're gonna that they're just that they even if they rack up.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, is it 11-1 Notre Dame not getting in?
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: If they run the table, which I don't think they will, but if they're 11 and one, they're in, right?
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, I guess it kind of depends on what Louisville looks like.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: Um, Florida State, that's not gonna be a good win for them, and then they've got USC late in the year.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: I think it's last game, yeah.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so they've got one quality win that they could potentially hang their hat on.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: I guess if AM continues to look pretty good all the rest of the year, you know, that's that was a that's a good win.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Um, in my mind, though, I I don't want to hear about them the rest of the year, yeah.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: Until maybe late, late, late in the season.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: But I mean, come on, give me a break.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: I think that he should be eliminated.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: I think in that this is kind of the rub of a 12-game playoff.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: I think with everyone still alive, even with one loss, no matter who it is.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: I think in any other year, any other year, you lose as a 29-point favorite to a max school, you're done.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like that's it.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: Like, good good night, see you next year.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: But the 12-game playoff, nobody's done for anything, and there is a world where I think they go 10-2 at 11-1.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: We're gonna have that conversation.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: But there will be plenty of teams that have not lost, embarrassingly.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: I mean, we think, yeah, yeah.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: We think.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: I I think they might my only point I'm trying to make is I think Notre Dame should be done, and we should stop talking about them.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: We will not, they're not done yet.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Um they're going to find a way to reassert themselves conversation, unless they have happen to drop two or three more than they are truly done.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Hey, don't sleep on the Wahoos, man.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: I got UVA in the schedule.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: If UVA's four and oh, five and oh, and uh they go to South Bend, Anthony Calandria sling it around.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: So, the other thing, too, the other side of that coin, Northern Illinois also has NC State left on the schedule, and they could very easily go undefeated.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: Are we looking at a playoff northern Illinois team?
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: That they could.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, my for my money, I'm I'm taking Ash and Genty and Boise State.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: You've really lost to Oregon this past week.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: I think they have I think that it's funny.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Your running back take was funny.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: It was a good take, bad running back.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: We talked about uh Ollie Gordon, who's I mean, that's he's not with the Heisman.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Um, there's a lot of rumors going around about rumors going around him.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: There's the the Ohio State quarterback, uh running back duo who are outstanding or probably split carries.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: You were right on the running back.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: We were all talking about the wrong one.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Ashton Genty is, I think, if anyone, if any running back is going to New York, it's gonna be him.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: They can run through the rest of their mountain west schedule, and they could be 11 and one.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: So I'm for my money, I think Boise State's gonna do it.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: And because they got Ashton Genty on that team, who's actually an NFL Sunday, Sunday running back, but we'll see.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm gonna do I'm all on the Genty bandwagon.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: He's proven it.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: He did it against big time competition at Oregon.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Um, I would love to see him put up like 2,000 all-purpose yards.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: That's probably what's probably what's gonna take.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: All right, let's keep it going.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, so that's Notre Dame.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, impressive comeback for the Iowa State down 13-0 at the half.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, just a bruising game.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Hell of a win for the clones on the road versus bitter rival.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Kicker drilled a 54-yard field goal, nine seconds left.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: Early candidate for field goal of the year.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Um, huge win for the clones.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Kate McNamara, he stinks.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: I know Iowa's offense is better.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: They made some changes.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: 13 for 29 from 99 yards and two points.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: 99.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: 99 yards.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: That's like a JV football stat line.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: 99 yards.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: I just is an unserious.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: They continue to be unserious on offense.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Any uh, but good will good win for Matt Campbell, Rocco Beck.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Well, give me the clones.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna back that train up just a little bit because Iowa had a ton of offense on the ground.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: Caleb Johnson put up 306 yards, or I'm sorry, um, what did he put up?
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: 200?
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: Something like that.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: He had a big day.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: 187, something like that.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he he um he went off.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: And if they just would have stuck with that, um, it might have eaten that one out.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: Uh, so maybe they're getting a little something going on the ground game.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah.
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: We shall see.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Just wanted to call that.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, looked good on the ground.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: They were they were able to run the ball.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Uh oh, went dark mode.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, number three, Michigan.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Michigan got handled by Texas.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: I was on Michigan.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: I was wrong.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna sugarcoat this.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Totally wrong, Reed on this.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Um, they've got worse at every position on offense in particular.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: I still think their defense is pretty good.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: I still think they have three all Americans, but Texas just carved them up.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: They went into the big house, they went to a hostile territory.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Big game, big noon was there.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: I think game day was there too.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Um, didn't matter, none of it mattered.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: Uh, Texas disposed of them with um made it quite they made it look really easy, frankly.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: Um, I I think a Texas uh offensive line actually might be the best offensive line.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter who's running the ball, they're getting yards.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know what I mean.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: And and against Michigan's front, that's really saying something.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, I expected Texas to win this game.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: I thought it would be closer.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Michigan really disappointed.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: They've taken huge uh setback, what it looks like, even more than any of us expected.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Davis Warren, uh, welcome to the Island of Misfit Toys uh quarterback edition.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: You suck.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I I mean I guess the point we thought that uh Alex Orgy was gonna take the job, and clearly he did not.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: So this might be like a backup plan.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: Like, honestly, if this is what Michigan saw in the offseason, why didn't they go get a transfer quarterback?
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, this this day and age, you can't tell me Michigan can't shell out a million bucks for a oh god, Byron Brown of South Florida.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: Um, there were guys out there, like they Michigan could have gotten one, and they thought this was it.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: That is just that's a yeah.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, DJ Uyangola was right for the taking, and then you missed you missed him, Michigan.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Man, DJU really is uh special, special player this year.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, we'll see about Michigan, we'll see how Michigan regroups, but they are looking like an eight or nine win team this year.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Certainly, look with the way Texas, Texas looks like a juggernaut.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: So we might be seeing them really emerge easily the best win, I think, of the college football season, probably so far.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Um, who else?
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Uh Oregon.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Oregon uh needed a last minute speaking.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: We talked about Ashen Chinney a minute ago.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: They look bad on both offense, offensive lines, and defensive line.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: The Idaho thing was weird.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: Week one didn't show up.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: I get that.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: This is two weeks in a row, and they're getting pushed around by a lot of people.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: I'm downgrading.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: My takeaway is Oregon has skill guys for days.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: I still like Dylan Gabriel, still like Evan Stewart.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: I still think they're got a lot of pros in their team.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: I just think they're getting pushed around the trenches tremendously, and I'm downgrading them rapidly in my echelon.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: Uh, yeah, I think week one was a red flag for them.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: Right now, like the alarms are sounding because yeah, I mean, I think Boise State's good.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: I think Genty's really good back, but um you you can't get pushed around for the tune of you know nearly 200 yards uh on the ground.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: I think that last year they they appear to they appear to be physical on both sides of the ball, and they already had the skill players, and I expected more of that this year, and this year they look soft.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: So I don't know what they're I don't know, that's not something you can just fix or get right.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: No, I mean they're getting Ohio State in outson.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: I believe that game is in Oregon in two weeks, so it's kind of like figure it out now, or this season's gonna go down the hole quickly because there's big there's a lot of teams in the Big Ten that are a hell of a lot more physical.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: No disrespect to Idaho Vandals and the Boise State Broncos, but like they got some big boys in the Big Ten, they're gonna be pushing you a lot.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: So this if they can't shore up some things on the trenches, and Dan Lanning knows this, he's SEC defensive coordinator, like he knows this.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Like, come on, man, you got you got a block and you got to get some pass rush.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: So, um, I'm I'm selling my uh Oregon stock.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: Uh moving on.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Um SMU bench Preston Stone makes no sense to me.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: They are not ACC ready, they are not competitive.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: I'm only this is a Thursday night game, nice win for the Mormons BYU.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: They went to Ken Jennings, they're trying to do some two quarterback thing.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure what Rhett Lashley, the SMU coach, was thinking.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: I'm only highlighting this game because I was really bullish on SMU going into the uh season.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: That was a bad take.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: I was wrong.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Uh they're not ready.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: Um, any SMU BYU takes for Thursday last Thursday night?
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: Not really.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, BYU is always plucky, really well well-coached team.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, usually had had a few guys on there, so you know, a lot of like 26-year-olds running around.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I don't know.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: I I think you're right with uh with with Mustangs.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: We'll see about SMU.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Uh Oklahoma State had no business winning that game.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: They went endeavor up double overtime 38-31, I believe it was.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: They actually covered 39-31.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Ollie Gordon, that offensive line, and Alan Bowman are all worse than I thought.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously the Ollie for Heisman, that candidate, that that that political whatever candidate is dead.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: That that campaign, that's the word.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Michael.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: That campaign is dead.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Uh, I got I'm selling all my Oklahoma State stock.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: I kind of thought there'd be a dark horse with the Big 12, and maybe they still are because Big 12 is full of question marks.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Um, Arkansas has some juice on offense.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: Talon Green uh did some things.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Give me a we watched a lot of this game at uh Yield Hickory, Hickory Lodge, Hickory Lounge, Hickory Tavern.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Tavern.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Excuse me, pardon me.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: Uh, what's your uh Oklahoma State uh Arkansas read?
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: So I think that this game tells it kind of tells the tale of the season so far.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: Is like every time you think you've got an idea on a team, you don't.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, every week these teams are either underprepared or playing uh up to a level that you don't expect.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: Arkansas, I don't think anybody expected to be in this game.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, they looked a little scary on offense, they looked really good, dynamic quarterback, playing making.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: Dylan Green's got some juice for sure.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: Surprised that they did what they were able to do on offense, particularly against Ali Gordon.
- 17:50SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, I think you've got head scratchers on both sides of the ball, um, on both sides uh of the sideline this year.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: I don't know who's who, I don't know what's what.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: There was a lot of bad balls.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's a lot of there's a lot of bad balls, interceptions, fumbles that should have gone either way.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: This game felt like a lot of like who would prefer to lose this game first, and it's just a matter of like nobody wanted to win this game in the fourth quarter in overtime.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: Like it was like fun from like a non-Arkansas Oklahoma State fan perspective.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: But if I was a poke or a razor back, I'd be pulling my that game would have shaved years off my life.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: I would be pulling my teeth out as a fan of either of those teams during that game.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I think this I think this game tells us Arkansas is better than we thought.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I think it tells us that Oklahoma State is not as good as as we thought.
- 18:34SPEAKER_02: If they're gonna have success this year, Ali Gordon's gonna have to go for more than 49 yards.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: And it's interesting because both you and I have Arkansas on our schedules this year, I think, right?
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: I think I know LSU does tennis, so yeah, so we have mutual opponents or interested there.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, so we're punting on our um Ali Gordon takes.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Uh moving on.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Uh, great time to be a Nebraska fan.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, they have got to be riding sky high.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: Absolutely took care of business um against uh Colorado, Dion, Travis Hunter, Shadur, and the crack and the and the gang.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: Um, go ahead.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: I I think now's a good time to segue this into patting both of ourselves on the back for this one, uh, and a and a bunch of our takes for last week.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: Give me a recap.
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: What what how how'd we do last week?
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: Just really quick before we dive into this game.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Um, I th I mean we the the we Oklahoma State ended up covering, which was nice.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Um, the we got this one.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Uh we got Iowa State, and there was the fourth one.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: I think we went four and oh, what was the last one?
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: Texas, it was Texas.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: We called Texas, yes, we went four and oh in our calls.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Actually, that's pretty awesome.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we had a big day.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: I think we got all our homers too, didn't we?
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: Yes, and all whole four all four homers win, which never happens.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: We gotta we get to so yeah, it was a great win for for the Mike and Mike Blitz and all the blitzers.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, back to Nebraska, Colorado.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: What's your what's your takeaway?
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Um, Colorado is who we thought they were.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: Um, Dion and company, they continue to not only lose, but like kind of embarrass themselves on and off the field.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Like some of these shenanigans fly if you're kind of in ascension mode, if you're winning and playing well, yeah.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: Um, when you're not, you just look like an idiot.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: And I think you know, Shador Sanders just uh he I don't know if anyone, any of y'all saw this after the game, he kind of throws his offensive line under the bus.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: They're asking him about offensive production.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: He asks how many times um Dylan Riola got touched, just little things here and there that make you think like, I mean, you just don't do that.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, just bad, bad, bad uh off the field.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Nebraska's got a pretty good offensive line, and and Colorado does not, outside of that freshman, true freshman left tackle who will eventually uh probably transfer.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, my take on Colorado is I'm kind of done with him.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: I, you know, I'm I'm I'm of the working mind that uh Travis Hunter, Shadur Sanders, Deion Sanders, and that left tackle are all not going to be a Colorado next year.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: That team's going to implode again, and it's gonna be a total re-rebuild.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna, I mean, luckily it's the Big 12.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Maybe they could play themselves back into it, but I'm done bringing this.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: Is the last time I'm bringing up Colorado until I have a reason to be be worried about them?
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: We're talking about a four and eight team, like they're a nine and three team that we should be interested in, and we shouldn't.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: They're not a good football team.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: Um, outside of those two or three absolutely dynamic playmakers, they don't have it.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: So um, I'm done with the Colorado experience until there's a reason not to be.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Um, and I and and more importantly, I'm way higher on Nebraska.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Dylan Royola, true freshman, that defense, Matt Rule, who I just love as a college coach, rebuilt Temple, rebuilt Baylor, Panthers didn't work out.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: We're just gonna forget that whole thing.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: And then uh this is doing this is going really well in Nebraska.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: So Husker Nation has got to be feeling good.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they've got win this weekend, and then they've got Illinois.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: That'll be that'll be a really interesting one.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: Illinois will probably be undefeated.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, all of a sudden not they don't they knocked off Kansas this week.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: I actually didn't watch this game.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: I just knew the Jalen Daniels had a bad game uh and threw a couple picks.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Do you any?
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: I have so I have no uh Illinois Kansas takes.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: Do you no?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: I didn't get to see it either, given our uh shenanigans this week.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: We were a little bit busy.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Uh Kentucky offensive line, way worse than I thought.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: South Carolina handed them.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Uh South Carolina has this uh true freshman, Dylan Sampson, I think his name is, who's absolutely having a great day.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Not Dylan Sampson.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: That's not Tennessee running back.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Look up the freshman uh defensive end from South Carolina.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Very, very good.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: He's he's having an outstanding time.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: Uh Brock never had a chance, and they actually got benched.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, South Carolina really took care of them.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: I watched this game kind of in speed up motion.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Um, I thought Lenora Cellis made a couple plays, also had a couple bad balls.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: Kentucky sacked him a lot.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Uh Kentucky is not known for their pass rush.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, both team, both running backs had some fumbles.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: The game got Ugly at the end.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: It was 31-6 South Carolina.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: But I took I watched this game sped up and looked at just two bad teams, frankly.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I agree with you.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: I think the main thing is like it doesn't matter how good your quarterback is.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: We both think that um Brock Vandergriff is pretty good.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but if if you don't have a and I think their offensive scheme is better this year, uh, if you don't have an offensive line, it doesn't matter.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: If you can't run the ball, it doesn't matter.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: No, and nothing new, but I thought they were a little better than that.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: And he got um and he got uh benched uh ultimately for who played for Gavin while I mean he was getting murdered back there.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: He went ended up going three for 10 for 30 yards and a pick.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's about as bad as it gets in terms of Kentucky offense, but he just didn't have anything really to offer.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Uh anything else on South Carolina Kentucky before we move on?
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: No stuff.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: Uh Pitt, the fighting Pitt Panthers were down 27 to 6 in the third quarter, came back to win 28-27.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Just wild.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: Uh Eli Holstein, the Bama transfer, who we did talk about last week, is someone to keep your eye on.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: Um, it gets the win.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: They're playing West Virginia, which is a renew of an old rivalry.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Both Pitt and West Virginia are respectable teams this year.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying it's not a watchable game, I'm not saying it is a watchable game.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: I'm saying keep an eye on the backyard brawl, keep an eye on Eli Holstein on the Pitt Panthers, and maybe West Virginia.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Two plucky squads.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Anything on the yeah, an old old big east rivalry, big east rivalry.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: Those of you who are over the age of 15 know what big east is.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: And yeah, any pitch, any Eli Holstein takes?
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: No, I don't want to talk about that.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: Cal gets the win at Auburn 214.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Uh, Cal goes down there.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think uh there can be some questions for the Auburn coaching staff.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: Uh Peyton Thorne stinks through four picks.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: I watched this game also on replay.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: One of them was a tip ball.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: The first one wasn't really his fault.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: The other three um were bad, bad balls.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Um, I think uh this is a bad loss for Hugh Freeze.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: I think they I think they knew everybody who hired him knew that it was going to be a rebuild.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: I think they thought I thought I thought Auburn was gonna cover the score easily.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: I think they thought they'd be further along than they are now.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: And I wonder if they're like Michigan today looking around like, man, we've got the NIL too.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Should we have gone out and got somebody not named DJU, but some other decent quarterback to come to Auburn?
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is a a black eye for for Auburn.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: Um, McCal has been one of the worst teams in in the Pac-12, and coming over, assumed they'd continue to be one of the worst teams in the Big Ten.
- 25:07SPEAKER_02: Um, Auburn, you know, even when they're bad, they're still a competitive, you know, middle of the road SECT, SEC team, especially at home.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Um, but I think we gotta get you got to tip your hats to uh to the the mighty golden bears and their defense played a hell of a game.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: Justin Wilcox, former uh must have.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: He was a he's a he was a hot he was one of our our hot coach specials going in this year.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: This is gonna go this is a kind of win that gets you some more, gets you more work, keeps you off the hopsy a little bit.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: So good for him.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: So yeah, definitely a weird one though.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Did not expect that.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: Uh Penn State almost lost to Bowling Green.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: I'm not putting much stock in.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: I think it was a bad effort.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: They were sleepwalking after the big win of West Virginia.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: Any Penn State takes?
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Uh not I didn't again didn't get to see this one.
- 25:51SPEAKER_02: Um, I do think it's one to keep an eye on as you kind of look over the stat line, you know, what sticks out to you.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Um is this indicative of of what Penn State, you know, what their low is?
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: I think when you look at some of the elite teams, you don't expect the low to be that low.
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: You know, when you when you see you don't see a Georgia um eking out, you know, a couple point win against a team like that, uh, which is why I think, you know, as far as like alarm alarm bells sounding, Oregon, Penn State, potentially alarm bells, yeah, uh as well.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: I'm not that worried about Penn State yet because I'm really I'm just thoroughly impressed with the with what they did too.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: And they did gut it out and get the win.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: Obviously, wins a win, win your win your bad games.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: Um, and they go to USC, I think, in two weeks, which is going to be all of a sudden a really premier awesome football game.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Penn State, uh, in the Rose Bowl, um, versus Southern Cal, I think, really has the makings of them.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: Is that week four?
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Week four, week five.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: It's not this week, this week stinks, but it's coming up around the corner.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: Syracuse.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wonder if there's an early line on that and what that would be.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: I'm curious too.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: Syracuse beats a ranked Georgia Tech.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: Kyle McCord is balling.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: He is tied for the nation's lead with eight touchdown passes with your boy, Garrett Nutsmeyer, not a big deal.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Um, uh, talk about good vibes.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: Syracuse is doing things really well and playing high.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: Not saying Syracuse is any good.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: First year coach, bajillion transfers, new uh quarterback.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, keep your eye on Syracuse.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: We might have some uh Orangeman takes uh here before long.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: There they'll probably sneak into the rankings.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: Really good vibes up in uh Syracuse, the carrier dome up in New York.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, calm accord.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: Uh just putting the team on his back.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: Definitely uh one to watch.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, first big win for Aiden Childs and John Smith and Sparty.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: They took off.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, did you I don't know if you watched the very end of this game.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: I watched it on uh Sunday, Sunday night.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Uh painful loss for the Turps.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: Uh, they were up by seven.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, they missed a field goal.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: Next play, Aiden Charles bomb touchdown, tie game, get a stop.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Michigan State scores, Sparty wins.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: Just all in the fourth quarter.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: Painful collapse for Maryland.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: Mike Loxley's gonna look back at this one, really hates it.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm not that concerned about Maryland.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: I'm interested in Aiden Childs, the former Oregon State co quarterback, and John Smith, the Oregon State coach.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: I think they're quietly building something, and I'm kind of it's interesting.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: College football is more interesting when Michigan State's good, so and they haven't been good in a while.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: So maybe Michigan State is been like four years or so, yeah.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe Michigan State stock up any Sparty takes.
- 28:21SPEAKER_02: No, I'd like to see Sparty be middle of the pack, uh big 10.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: So keep your eye on that.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: I don't think that I don't think it's gonna be this year, but you know, they get this one.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: And also Aiden Childs is just fun to watch.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: The guy can really sling it.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Speaking of dudes that can just straight up sling it, DJ Lagway, the new starting quarterback for Florida.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: He's got to be at the rest of the way.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: Graham Mertz is hurt.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: I know it's Stanford.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: Uh, I watched this game on uh speed up.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, he can he throws a pretty ball.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Billy Napier is fighting for his job.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: This is the five star, this is the future.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: If there's going to be a Billy Napier future at Florida, it's Lagway, it's not Mertz.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Merch, for coming.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Good day.
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: Your service is done here.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: Um, it's gotta be him the rest of the way, right?
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: It's gotta be Lagway from here on out.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think regardless of you know whether they win or lose games, you know, these next few weeks, the fans want to see this.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, that they want to see the the the five-star talent impression because even if you're losing games, you know, at least you're kind of investing in the future.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: Uh Graham Hurts is going to be gone next year, and you got to kind of give the fans something.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: I think this is it.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: Uh, he did look good against the Samford Bulldogs.
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: Not that anybody cares.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: He put up some big numbers.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I mean, the proof's really gonna be in the pudding in the next few weeks.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and honestly, it's just it's just seeing the the just seeing him throw the ball.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's he kind of looks a little bit like uh Anthony Richardson, former Florida quarterback now, Indianapolis Colt.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: He can, I mean, he can unload it, he can throw the ball a mile.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: So when you have that kind of just high-end arm potential, like it's just you know, it's a freshman, he's gonna take some lumps, but like this if you're a Florida fan and if you're still clinging on to any of your Billy Napier stock, this is what the next ticket's going to be.
- 30:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and you gotta think that you know, they've got AM this weekend, uh, and then they go to Mississippi State and UCF.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: You know, if you can scratch out two wins out of those three, yeah, you know, you're treading water a little bit.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: You have you have a little bit little bit of breathing room.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: Uh Clemson beat the absolute breaks off of App State.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: I think it was like 42 to nothing mid-second quarter.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Sounds like they could have named their score.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Where was this last week?
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Where was this last year?
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: Uh K Klubnik had a massive day.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: I know it's App State Sun Belt team.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: This App State vert team is not as good as some of the App State team previously.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: They've been missing a lot of guys, their quarterback isn't very good, but they're generally speaking a well-run team and mostly competitive.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: And this one wasn't even a little bit.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: If you're my overall opinion on this, is Clemson might still be interesting to get given how tumultuous the ACC is, and given how you know it's Miami, everybody else, maybe Clemson's not dead.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: What do you think?
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I do think there's something to be said about the way that they took care of business because the Clemson that we've seen over the past, you know, year and a half, two and a half, yeah.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, whatever, probably would have eked out a 35-20, you know, kind of ho-hum sure win.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: And they looked like they should have looked.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: And Kate Klub Klubnik looked like he should have looked.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: He put up almost 400 yards, five touchdowns.
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, maybe a little bit of life.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: We'll see.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: We will see.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: Lastly, before we get the homers, at least for me, uh Utah beats Baylor, doesn't cover Cam Rising, might have a hand injury, they're saying this is interesting to me because I don't think the Big 12 is very good.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: I uh Oklahoma State is down, Kansas State, which we're not even talking about, should have lost to Tulane this week.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Um, Iowa State got a nice win, but I'm not sure they're a playoff team.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: One of these Utah was supposed to be the team a cut above everybody else, uh, in the Big 12, much like um Miami and the ACC.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: And Utah without Cam rising, we have seen that act before.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: That is a three-loss team.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: Cam rising injury, in my opinion.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Here's the hot take Cam rising injury has a chance to throw the Big 12 playoff spot scatter shot to the win.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: Like it could be it could be a really bad team getting that automatic bid for the Big 12 uh champion.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and the Big 12 um was already pretty wide open, yeah.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: As it is, and he I also just really hate it for Cam rising because he's been injured like every year he gets injured.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: And uh he's in his seventh year of the program, is that correct?
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: Does he get an eight?
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: He's been in a while, yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Um, hopefully it's nothing serious.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: The reports today have been a little bit more optimistic, maybe it's not, but like I'm just a Utah without Cam rising, I'm just not buying that.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: And if that's if that and if they're if they're on the way, if they're on the way down, then this Big 12 is just gonna be pandemonium the rest of the way.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: All right, let's talk about the Homers.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: Uh, I mean, honestly, let's talk about the Tennessee game first because that we've already kind of talked about and unpacked it a little bit.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: I only have one more take about the Tennessee thing we haven't talked about.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, Dylan Sampson, I'm a genius.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: I told you that all the hype was is Nico in that defense and it should, but the the appropriate I zagged and said the MVP.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: The MVP was gonna be Dylan Sampson, and it was.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: He ran for 22 carries, 120 yards, two touchdowns.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: Um, and another like 40 in the air.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, he looked awesome.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna give Dylan Sampson some real props.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: High five.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: So props to you for saying that the star running back on a team that dominated was going to headline.
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: I'm a genius.
- 33:28SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna get away from you because the story is not Dylan Sampson, the story is the defense.
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: Okay, go on.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: Still the defense.
- 33:35SPEAKER_02: They they 13 tackles for loss, a pick six, um third down conversion.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: Like I said, yeah, they they picked up three third downs on the first drive and then didn't pick one up the rest of the game and gave up like less than 40 yards of of total offense in the second half.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: They didn't do anything, they suffocated them.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: And if and if a and if Tennessee can can give a B B minus effort on offense and still win this game 50 51 to 10, one being on a pick, one one score being on a pick six, yeah.
- 34:11SPEAKER_02: A defense that still hasn't hasn't given up a touchdown, going back to Vanderbilt last year.
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: Um, Tennessee's scary.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: So here's my hot take about Tennessee.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: It's really not about Tennessee, it's about Tennessee's schedule.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Um, and the only reason I say this is because there is a chance that NC State might stink.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: We won't know.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: They I think there's still that chance.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: There's still that chance given how bad they looked against Western Carolina, which was a red flag for all of us.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: And obviously, them their their inability to do anything against what we think is actually a really good defensive unit in Tennessee.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: Also, if if NC State is bad, they haven't really faced the test.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: Here's a hot take.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: I think Tennessee's schedule stinks.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: Arkansas might be bad, Oklahoma almost lost to Houston.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: AM doesn't seem like they're like they're great.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: We know about Florida, we know about Mississippi State, UTEP, Kentucky got blasted.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Um the spicy, spicy.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: You're leaving out Georgia and Alabama and Alabama and Alabama.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think you put those two teams on any schedule, and you gotta win the rest of the games.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: I think Tennessee, I think Tennessee's floor is 10 and 10 and 2 this year.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: And on and now the Georgia game is tough, that they're on the road, and the early lines I saw was Georgia by 16 and a half, which is a big number.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: Alabama's a two-point favorite.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: I bet you a million bucks that's gonna be flipped by the time it gets that gets closer to the game.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: I was not impressed with Alabama when I saw against South Florida.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: That game was uh with with 11 minutes left, was a one-point game.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: The fourth quarter is a one-point game in Tuscaloosa.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: South Florida again.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm not buying Alabama stock yet.
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: Although we said the literally exact same thing last year after South Florida and Texas.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: So look what happened.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Um, so we could be wrong about that.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: But um, I you know, I think we all thought my point is I thought I think we thought Tennessee's schedule was gonna be tougher than it is.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: It might be a two-game season for Tennessee.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's a world where Vandy, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, and of course the gold can say golden flashes all stink.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: I don't think Oklahoma stinks.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: I think that's it's you're going on the road to Norman.
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: I think their offensive line is suspect.
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: I think their quarterback play, we'll see.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, he hasn't blown the doors off yet.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: Um, but um, it's a little early to I do think you know when you're talking about the future of this year, those are the three games, and you got to win one out of three.
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, we'll see.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: We I think they're in a good spot.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: And NC State might stick.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: They might.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: We'll see.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I agree with you there.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: We'll see.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: They might fully on board with that take.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Holly on forward.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: Uh uh LSU looks sleepy, got the win.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: Quarterback, wide receivers, pass pro, all elite, everything else inconsistent and best.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Lost defensive tackle, Jacobian Gilroyd for the year, which is tough.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: It's like our thinnest spot.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: Um, not much to say, just underwhelming performance.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, they were they weren't really there.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: I think they were still in the uh Southern California hangover from last week and looking forward to South Carolina next week on the road.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: So I don't really put much by it.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Um, my LSU take is that we're a work in progress, and we'll see what happens.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: And you're super high on Garrett Nessmeyer.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: I'm super high on Garrett Nussmeyer.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: He is phenomenal.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: He's one of my dark, dark horses.
- 37:15SPEAKER_01: I try to pump him up too much because obviously I'm a clear homer for him, but I legitimately think he's got a real shot to do something special with the big arm and the big accuracy, but we'll see.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: We'll see in South Carolina.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, Virginia Tech.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: Um, we might have been over our skis a little bit on the 2024 hokies.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: The Boobirds were out in Lane Stadium first quarter, which against Marshall, I didn't expect.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, give Marshall a little bit of credit.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, defense played well.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, there was certainly some bamer ball for both teams.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: There was huge special teams play.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: I think Virginia Virginia Tech took one back to the house and Marshall blocked a punt, which is one of you know signature beamer moves.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: So, some bamer ball.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: Third quarter, they woke up.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: Um, held Marshall 340 yards.
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: Tootin looked good, 22 carries, 120 yards.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: Drones 12 for 21, 130, one touchdown, non-factor rushing.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: I think Marshall got a good defense, and I think Virginia Tech won by 17.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: So let's keep the show rolling.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't think there's a ton to take away from this from like a big picture, you know, like knee-jerk reaction type um perspective.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: I do think if you're a Virginia Tech fan, you'd like to see things be clicking a little bit better, but better, yeah.
- 38:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, you're kind of concerned, but this is college football, and you know, it seems like until you're kind of at that elite level, don't be surprised when nothing becomes easy or nothing looks easy.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: It's tough every week for every team.
- 38:32SPEAKER_02: We've seen all of these crazy upsets already.
- 38:35SPEAKER_02: You know, we're a couple weeks in.
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: Um, the days of like cruising through your schedule seem to be kind of over.
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: And they've got a couple, they've luckily they've got two more kind of tune-up-ish e-games before they go to Miami, which we're really going to find out about if Virginia Tech is kind of ready to make that next step or not in a couple weeks.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, hell of a win for our UVA flighting fighting cavalier wahoos.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: Um, big fourth quarter comeback um at West Virginia.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: I forgot that Hank Back Hank Bachmeyer was a coach of West Virginia, formerly of Boise State.
- 39:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, he is good.
- 39:07SPEAKER_01: They still run that slow mesh offense thing down there where they kind of just walk up to the line.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: Wake forest.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: Wake forest, yeah.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: They put the ball uh in the pocket for a while.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: They look like they're they look, it looks like a walkthrough.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Looks like they're not trying, and then all of a sudden he pulls and throws the ball down 30 yards down the field.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: Um, UVA sacked him like six times, they got after him.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: Uh big fourth quarter comeback.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: The defense made two incredible stops to get the win 31-30.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: If you're a Wahoo, you're two and oh, this is year three of Tony Elliott.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: You got a monster game against Maryland this coming week.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: Like, vibes are high and stock is up in Charlottesville.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, this uh this is a game that could have gone either way.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: And when you're looking, you know, a week ahead at Maryland, just lost a game that could have gone either way.
- 39:51SPEAKER_02: And here UVA is um experiencing the opposite of that, where they're they're you know filled up with excitement, enthusiasm, and energy, and uh welcoming uh kind of a demoralized uh Terrapin team.
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: So uh very much kind of a swing moment um for in the season.
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: And yeah, UVA lucky to get that win.
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: Um very good play from Calandria.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's despite a couple picks, he looked good.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: He's he's having a the Trell Harris is a stud.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: Uh Neville, the tight ends, is what's turning out.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Malachi Fields is as advertised, I think he called 11 balls for 140 yards.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: Their third string quarterback, his name is Grady Brusterhouse for their last touchdown touchdown.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: They brought him in for the um Jalen Hurts Philadelphia Eagles uh Tushbush and pushed it.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: It was successful.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: They call it the Grady Bunch, it's a play at UVA.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: So I am all in.
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: This kid never sees he sits behind Musket and Calandria.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're gonna let him throw a forward pass this year unless it's garbage time, but he is their guy for the Grady Brunch, which is their version of the Tush push, and I am all in on that.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: So that's a great name, it's a great name.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: Uh LSU Tennessee.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's the homers.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: All right, let's switch to the uh next week, which starts on Thursday.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: Um tell us, tell us about tell us about tell us about your brain child of this week.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: So uh this week is not great, it's not ideal, not a bunch of game.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: But what we're gonna do is Mike and I, we have come up with a reason for you to watch.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: What we have done is we've picked four teams that are gonna get big upset wins, and we have parlayed all four of those teams to win.
- 41:30SPEAKER_01: I put five dollars, a five dollar bet down of a four-team parlay, four upset money lines.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: If it hits, it pays out a whopping$2,600.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: If it hits, I am taking every Patreon member, everybody in the Discord in Richmond out to the fanciest steak dinner in Richmond.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: Mike and I are gonna set a date, we're gonna put blazers on, we're gonna buy some red wine, and we're gonna get steaks, and we're going to have a fancy dinner, all expenses played by the Mike Blitz if today's uh if this weekend's upset special hits.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: And I'm excited about it.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: Mike, what do you think?
- 42:07SPEAKER_02: Yes, it's it's the Mike Blitz gift to you.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: It's a reason to believe in the underdog, and um, let's make it happen.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: Let's let's go out to dinner together.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: So what's so instead of talking about the usual thing, let's go ahead and just jump in that so we're already practiced.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: So the four teams we picked, Memphis at Florida State, Memphis is going to Florida State, they're a Florida State to five and a half point favorite.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: The reasons to like Memphis, Memphis has an outstanding offense, and they might be the best team in the G5.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: Florida State stinks.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: Any Memphis Florida State takes?
- 42:35SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, this one it was kind of one of the low-hanging fruit out of the group.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: Um, Memphis has a legit shot to win this game.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: There, they've got a great dynamic offense.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: Florida State, who knows what their locker room uh mentality, you know, what their motivation looks like.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: And uh yeah, I think this one has a very good chance of hitting.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna give it an eight out of 10 on the Mike Blitz hit scale.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame minus 10 and a half at Purdue.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: Hudson Card is leaning the nation in completing percentage, uh, 24, 25, 96.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, he's a good quarterback, uh formerly of Nebraska and Texas.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, Notre Dame's offense is straight up bad.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: We know that now.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: This game is at Purdue.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: That place is gonna be rowdy and loud, and they're coming off a bye.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: So we've got a wounded Nebraska.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: We got Purdue coming off a bye.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: Feel momentum, smelling blood on the water.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: Give me a Purdue upset.
- 43:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, love a Purdue upset prediction here.
- 43:30SPEAKER_02: Um, I do think Notre Dame, you're not gonna you're not gonna get a sleepy Notre Dame team after what just happened to them.
- 43:35SPEAKER_02: They're gonna be fired up, they've got some juice.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: So Purdue's gonna win this game, they got to survive an early push.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: They got to keep it close, they got to keep it to, you know, maybe a 10-point game going into the half.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm gonna give this a six and a half on the Mike Blitz upset scale.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: I know let's go.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: We'll go we'll go in that order then.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: Uh, Oregon, Oregon going to Oregon State going to Corvallis, they're a 14 and a half point favorite.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Um, this is a vibes play.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: Oregon State is in the pack two.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: They are mad at Oregon.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: This game was called the Civil War for a long, long time.
- 44:07SPEAKER_01: This is one of the bitterest rivals in state rivalries.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: They are not happy.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: Oregon has left them for the Big Ten for the Big Payday.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: You have a nothing would make Oregon State happier than to knock off Oregon.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Oregon has looked really bad running the ball, really bad defending the run.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: Their lines are bad.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: Oregon State is angry, playing with nothing to lose in a game they gotta have.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Give me the Beavers to make some magic happen in Corvallis.
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Oregon State has actually looked really good running the ball, and we still don't know.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: What Oregon is, and if they can withstand that push.
- 44:42SPEAKER_02: I love this play because of that classic rivalry mentality that anything can happen.
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: Oregon State literally has everything to play for.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: And Oregon kind of feels like they're they're they're hanging on by a thread.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna give Oregon State a seven out of 10 here on the upset scale.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: All right, and last one.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: This is the one.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Go ahead and say your Hail Mary's.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: This is this one's a tough one.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: Uh Boston College going to Missouri.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: They are 17-point dogs.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Couple things.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: Boston College is ranked, so that means they're awesome because they're ranked.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: They have a number next to their names.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: We know that for sure.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: And Thomas Castellanos, the quarterback, is electric.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: He can do things with his feet.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: He can move around.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: He can mix things up.
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: And Missouri has played um a high school football team schedule.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: So they might not be very good.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: So gimme ranked Boston College, number 24.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: That means something.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: Come on, bear with me.
- 45:35SPEAKER_01: Pretend that it does.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: And Thomas Castellanos is a quarterback who can do some things with his legs, go off schedule, that kind of thing.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: And Missouri might not be that good.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: That's all I got.
- 45:44SPEAKER_01: That's literally all I got for this one.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, if Boston College is going to win this game, it's going to be all up to Castellanos.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: He's got like seven, seven touchdowns this year.
- 45:51SPEAKER_02: He's looked really good.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: He's going to have to actually take over the game, put the team on his back.
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: Things that Boston College has going for them.
- 45:57SPEAKER_02: Um, Missouri that we know for sure not a hoard its test.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: It is a graveyard of a place to play football.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: Dreary.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: And yeah, it it's it's and and again, we don't know how good Missouri is.
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: This is their first even decent test.
- 46:11SPEAKER_02: They've got a cakewalk of a schedule.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: Um, so you know, there's a good chance that they lack a little motivation for this one.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: Uh, I am going to give this one a six out of ten on the Boston College upset scale.
- 46:26SPEAKER_02: Official Mike Bliss.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: Official Mike Blitz as well.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: So there you go.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: We got Memphis, Purdue, Boston College, Oregon State, all have to win.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: If they all win, you're listening to this podcast and you are in my Discord.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: I am taking you to the fanciest steakhouse in Richmond.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: It's gotta be Hondos or Buckheads.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: I don't even know what it is anymore.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: I've I've gone to Steakhouse.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: Buckheads is nice.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: Buckheads is really nice.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: We're putting blazers on.
- 46:46SPEAKER_01: Um, we're gonna look nice and we're gonna have a nice dinner.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: And hell, we if if folks are up for it, I'll buy y'all ice cream afterwards too.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: Maybe go July Celestia's.
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: Maybe a July Celeste.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: We'll see where it's left in the bank.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: So that's your reason to watch this week for the upset special.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: Uh, kind of back to the main slate.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: We picked three games to talk about because and plus the homers because I much to talk about uh Arizona at K-State, K-State's seven uh point dog.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: Um, I like Arizona knock knock him off this week.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: Give the upset.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: I just think No Fafia's better quarterback.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Avery Johnson's looked shaky so far against your loss of Tulane last week.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: And Tet McMillan, this is gonna be his chance to be on national television and give everyone's attention.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, he's gonna show you how good he is.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: The only ranked matchup this week is this game.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, give me the Wildcats pulling off seven-point upset.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we gotta we gotta roll, we gotta keep it moving.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: This show's running long.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: Give me Arizona.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: Kidoke.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: Uh Bama uh going 16-point favorite at Wisconsin.
- 47:39SPEAKER_01: Things in uh Camp Randall have not been great so far.
- 47:43SPEAKER_01: Boston College, I mean sorry, Bama, maybe sleepwalks.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: Is TVD gonna show signs of life?
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: I I I thought we'd see more out of uh Wisconsin by now than we haven't.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Um, give me Bama to cover.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't see it.
- 47:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I have to go with you as well.
- 47:56SPEAKER_02: I thought Wisconsin would look a little bit better, and they've kind of been struggling against no name teams.
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: Um, Bama's gonna cover here.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: Texas AM, three and a half point favorites at the swamp.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: Uh that's uh this is DJ Lagway season.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: It's Bill Naper fighting for his job.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: This feels like wounded dog mode to me.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: This feels like them, they're desperate.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: And I kind of wagman looked pitiful against Notre Dame.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: So uh I'm gonna go ahead and give Florida a break here.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna give pick another upset.
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: I got Florida getting the win here and getting it done at home against AM.
- 48:23SPEAKER_02: I agree that uh Wagman looks really soft, really bad.
- 48:26SPEAKER_02: Lagway is gonna give them a shot in the arm.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: It is such a tough place to play in the swamp.
- 48:31SPEAKER_02: If it was in AM, I would take AM.
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: But I've got to go Gators again.
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: It kills me to do it, but but just the way the season's played out so far and and and the way that things have transpired recently, got to go with the gators.
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: Um, but that being said, I hope they lose.
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: Let's switch over to Homer time.
- 48:47SPEAKER_01: Four more games and we're out of here.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: Uh Kent State, Tennessee.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: Go ahead and take it.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Anything?
- 48:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's like a 50-point spread.
- 48:52SPEAKER_02: We're not gonna, I mean, we've played limited snaps across across the roster already.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: We're not gonna see starters in the second half, and our best players may only get a handful of snaps, which you love to see.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: All eyes are on Oklahoma two weeks from now.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh, give me Tennessee minus whatever expecting the cover.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: Uh Virginia Tech at ODU.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: They lost this game last time they did that.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: This is a really good test.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: ODU is gonna be a little mini horns nest over there in Norfolk, Virginia.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: Where's all where's old Dominions in Norfolk?
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Norfolk, Virginia.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: They're plucky, they're on the road.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: Old Dominion almost beat South Carolina.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: We could go.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: This is a swing game.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: This is a year three, kind of no excuse for Virginia Tech.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: They need to win this game.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: Um, I I couldn't find the spread the time I made this.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: Um, but Hokies, uh, come on, get on the road, do what you need to do.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: Kyron Jones, Tootin, run the ball.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: Um, I'll take Hokies to win, but I'm a little nervous about this one, frankly.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I like the Hokies to win this one.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: I think they actually uh wake up a little bit and then and do it in emphatic uh fashion.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Very nice.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Last game.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: Uh there's two more, sorry, two more games.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: Uh Maryland at UVA.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: UVA.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Maryland is a two and a half point favorite.
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: Maryland is mad.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: They're coming off their big loss, terrible loss, Michigan State.
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: UVA is two and oh.
- 50:00SPEAKER_01: This game is at eight o'clock at night on the ACC network.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: I will be in attendance with my brother Stephen Wade, who is also in the Discord Patreon.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: We're going there together.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: Um, huge swing game for Elliott.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: Year three, two and oh.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: If you're gonna make a bowl, I think this is kind of the game you kind of gotta have.
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: Calandria has been playing at a really high level so far.
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: Malachi Fields has as well.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Maryland's front seven defensively is really good, I think.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: And I think that's gonna be a real problem for uh running the ball.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: I Calandria is gonna have to do some off-script stuff, makes me happy with his legs.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: Give me UVA to win 28-31.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think this is another really close game for both of these squads.
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: I think it could really realistically go either way.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: Uh Scott Stadium is gonna be swaying super slowly, lulling those Terrapins to sleep.
- 50:45SPEAKER_02: I do think UVA wins and covers, uh, but uh not a lot of confidence behind that one.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: Lastly, and this is ASMAN's game day, game of the week, game of the week for me.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: Obviously, LSU seven and a half point favorites at South Carolina.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: This game is at noon.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: Um, this is a it's it's kind of like you were talking about uh just SEC road games.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: It is hard to get hard to get wins on the road in the SEC full stop.
- 51:07SPEAKER_01: And this is one of those things.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: I think South I thought South Carolina last week was the worst team in the SEC, they're clearly not, they're better.
- 51:12SPEAKER_01: Their defensive line is pretty good.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: I don't think Lenora Sellers is, I think he's really raw on that year.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: Nick Harbour, the uh superstar uh athlete, has yet to record a single stap.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: As good as that defensive line has been, they have gone against the the offensive line fronts of Kentucky, which has been atrocious in ODU.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: Emery Jones and Will Campbell are first round offensive tackles on both sides.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a little bit different.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: If you're gonna do something, if LSU is gonna win this game, and I think they will, it's going to be um spreading it out to their playmakers and just and I don't think South Carolina's gonna be able to cover them.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: I don't like our defense, I don't like this spot.
- 51:46SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna be loud and rowdy, but I think LSU's gonna win by 10.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: So give me my tigers, obviously.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, but I'm I'm I'm nervous, I'm nervous about playing an SEC road game in a tough stadium.
- 51:59SPEAKER_02: Um, I you know, I you're onto something, it is tough to play there, but I'm gonna take some of that um that fan anxiety off of your shoulders.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: LC has more talent than South Carolina all over the field.
- 52:10SPEAKER_02: It's got the better quarterback, uh, they've got just bigger, better athletes all over the place.
- 52:15SPEAKER_02: Uh Williams Bryce Stadium can be um tough at times, but it is a new game which is in your favor.
- 52:21SPEAKER_02: And I think LSU takes care of business.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: I think they cover, I think they win by a couple scores.
- 52:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, folks, that is all we've got.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: That is week two review and week three preview in a nutshell.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: Obviously, uh, we hope you all have a fabulous time enjoying the week.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: Uh, get out, join some sunset.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: If you're if you're not gonna watch in college football this season, this is the week to not miss the it's to not watch because every other week is gonna be loaded.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: So um make sure you get yourself out there a little bit.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: But watch for those upsets.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: But watch those upsets.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: Those upsets.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: Go get a steak dinner because you're gonna you got a steak dinner there coming your way.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: So be moff for that.
- 52:51SPEAKER_01: Anything else to go to the order, Mike?
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: No, that's it.
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 52:55SPEAKER_02: Uh let's charge into the weekend.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: All right, thanks for listening, y'all.
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: See ya.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Halliwood go.
