Latest / Stugotz and Company / The Big Stu-ey: Knicks With A Historic Comeback (w/ Ariel Helwani)
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: We agreed to do this only after wids Man am
- 0:06Speaker 1: I tired. I am exhausted. Ariel Halwani is with us.
- 0:10Speaker 1: He is on his way to Jerry Duty of all places.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Hopefully you can get out of it. I've been texting
- 0:16Speaker 1: with him the entire evening, well into the morning hours
- 0:19Speaker 1: here and right before the game, Tailor he asked me
- 0:22Speaker 1: my confidence level the NIXT winning the game, and Ariel,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'll allow you to tell Taylor how I responded, because
- 0:29Speaker 1: I'm feeling pretty good about myself. But go ahead and
- 0:31Speaker 1: let Taylor know how I responded to your question to
- 0:33Speaker 1: me via text. What is your confidence level headed into
- 0:37Speaker 1: tonight's game?
- 0:40Speaker 2: You did say ten, and I give you a lot
- 0:42Speaker 2: of credit for that. On a scale of one to ten,
- 0:44Speaker 2: you said ten. I did think about that number sort
- 0:47Speaker 2: of midway through the game, as we were getting our
- 0:49Speaker 2: butts tended to us and thinking, I can't believe that
- 0:54Speaker 2: this is transpiring. I can't believe we're witnessing this. But
- 0:56Speaker 2: in the end, it's not how you start the race,
- 0:59Speaker 2: it's how you finish it. And I still I'm gonna
- 1:04Speaker 2: be the worst guest of all time here because I
- 1:06Speaker 2: don't have words to describe what we witnessed. I don't
- 1:09Speaker 2: have words to describe how I'm feeling. You know, I
- 1:12Speaker 2: was thinking about this. If this was a regular season
- 1:15Speaker 2: win over Memphis, I think we would all be saying
- 1:18Speaker 2: to ourselves, holy smoked, what the hell? We'd be flying
- 1:21Speaker 2: high on a Thursday morning. And then take it a
- 1:25Speaker 2: step further, if this was the second round win against Cleveland,
- 1:28Speaker 2: we'd be saying that. But it's the combo of the
- 1:32Speaker 2: greatest comeback ever, and oh, by the way, you're one
- 1:35Speaker 2: win away from winning the NBA Finals. So it's like
- 1:38Speaker 2: the duality of the moment is just too much the process.
- 1:42Speaker 2: The only thing that would have made it greater was
- 1:44Speaker 2: if that was to win the NBA Finals. But it's
- 1:47Speaker 2: just it's improbable. Doesn't put it into words. I'm a
- 1:51Speaker 2: lifelong Bills fan as well. I was ten years old
- 1:54Speaker 2: when they came back against Houston in nineteen ninety three.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I didn't quite understand the gravity of the moment. When
- 2:00Speaker 2: you're ten years old, you know that it's a great comeback.
- 2:02Speaker 2: You know it's the biggest comeback ever. I'm almost forty
- 2:05Speaker 2: four now, and I just I broke down Toude. I
- 2:08Speaker 2: broke down in tears because I had no idea what
- 2:11Speaker 2: to do with my body. I didn't know what to
- 2:14Speaker 2: how to act. And I'm just I'm just overjoyed. I
- 2:17Speaker 2: have no words to describe this feeling right.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Now, Ariel, I was running around my house like Jim
- 2:22Speaker 1: Valvando after the NCAA Championship, looking for somebody to hug,
- 2:26Speaker 1: anybody to hug.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You know, that's exactly that's a tremendous analogy. Nineteen maybe three,
- 2:33Speaker 2: shout out a rest in peace. I was the same
- 2:36Speaker 2: way I was. I mean, my wife isn't the biggest
- 2:39Speaker 2: basketball fan, but it even my yelling even prompted her
- 2:42Speaker 2: to get out of bed and come with us at all,
- 2:44Speaker 2: and that to me was the moral victory of some kind.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I just I can't stop watching all the clips and
- 2:51Speaker 2: it's just so so perfect that it's og. He has
- 2:55Speaker 2: no reaction, he doesn't smile, he just man that. There's
- 3:00Speaker 2: a clip that was shot by Kirk Herbstreet of all
- 3:03Speaker 2: people on like he's on, he's courtside and I don't
- 3:07Speaker 2: know why you're filming when you're sitting courtside for a
- 3:09Speaker 2: moment like that, but thank god he did, because you
- 3:11Speaker 2: could just you can truly appreciate how far he had
- 3:15Speaker 2: to travel og that is, how he soared in the
- 3:18Speaker 2: air to put his hand on that ball. I just
- 3:21Speaker 2: I don't believe. I can't believe they did it from
- 3:24Speaker 2: from you know, Wemby's talking spack. I'm in your head
- 3:27Speaker 2: all this stuff as it brought to there's a strong
- 3:30Speaker 2: case to be made that we should be down three
- 3:32Speaker 2: to one or even already swept. How you know, that's
- 3:38Speaker 2: how much Dave outplayed us. And yet it feels like,
- 3:41Speaker 2: perhaps for the first time in a very, very, very
- 3:44Speaker 2: long time, the basketball gods are smiling down upon us.
- 3:46Speaker 2: As crazy as that sounds, that's the only explanation I have.
- 3:50Speaker 3: For all of this.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Harryl The next word plus thirty after Wu Tang clans
- 3:54Speaker 4: halftime performance. If we were doing a credit pie, how
- 3:57Speaker 4: much credit does Wu Tang get today a hunt?
- 4:02Speaker 2: I mean, I was gonna say a hundred percent. That
- 4:04Speaker 2: might be a lot, but let's give him I don't
- 4:06Speaker 2: know thirty percent. In fact, go back earlier in the
- 4:09Speaker 2: day when the posts reported that Wu Tang was playing,
- 4:14Speaker 2: I retweeted it and said, tremendous because I was at
- 4:18Speaker 2: Game three. I was not at Game four and Cardi
- 4:20Speaker 2: b it just wasn't the vibe. I don't know, it
- 4:22Speaker 2: just wasn't the vibe. The whole day was off, the whole.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Game was off.
- 4:25Speaker 2: This has been talked about ad nauseum and those guys
- 4:29Speaker 2: showing up and doing that. God bless them as well, because,
- 4:33Speaker 2: like I'm sure, the mood in the arena wasn't great
- 4:36Speaker 2: at that moment, as you know.
- 4:37Speaker 3: We're down.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I don't remember what it was at halftime. It was
- 4:40Speaker 2: also very depressing. But I love those guys and they
- 4:43Speaker 2: are in New York, and I hope we build a
- 4:45Speaker 2: statue for them. I hope we build a statue for og.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I hope you build a statue for Jose Alvarado doing
- 4:52Speaker 2: the old like, oh, what's that?
- 4:54Speaker 3: Well?
- 4:54Speaker 2: That was like the guy from the Harlem Globetrotters. He's
- 4:57Speaker 2: doing like pure wet in the lane. Ah, it's just
- 5:03Speaker 2: too much, man, it's too much. These guys. I adore them.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I adore them with all my heart. What about the
- 5:09Speaker 2: moment where it's the first quarter and we're summoning Jeremy
- 5:14Speaker 2: Sohan off the bench, after we've summoned the corpse of
- 5:18Speaker 2: Ariel hook Porty, I mean if it ever felt more
- 5:21Speaker 2: bleak than that. In that moment, I was like, how
- 5:24Speaker 2: did we get here? Kat gets a second foul in
- 5:26Speaker 2: a minute two seconds into the game. How did we
- 5:29Speaker 2: overcome this? I have no explanation.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Oh my god, were you ever thinking what was the
- 5:34Speaker 1: lowest of the lows for you last night? Like where
- 5:36Speaker 1: like put us there the lowest of the lows? They're
- 5:39Speaker 1: down twenty nine?
- 5:39Speaker 3: At one point?
- 5:40Speaker 1: Are you thinking about going to bed?
- 5:43Speaker 2: I never thought about going to bed. One of my
- 5:45Speaker 2: proudest moments ever as a parent up until now, and
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm not sure if I'll ever top it is. At
- 5:51Speaker 2: some point early in the fourth my oldest son, fourteen, Oliver, says,
- 5:55Speaker 2: I think I need to go to bed. He has
- 5:57Speaker 2: a test today, and I said, nope, the end. You
- 6:00Speaker 2: have to stay till the end. You never know what's
- 6:02Speaker 2: going to happen. And thank god I said that, because
- 6:05Speaker 2: I think he'd be very upset this morning, and a
- 6:07Speaker 2: lot of his friends did go to bed. So I'm very,
- 6:09Speaker 2: very proud of that moment. He's very tired today, but
- 6:11Speaker 2: I told him you will you will tell your grandchildren
- 6:14Speaker 2: about this. You will never ever ever forget this. This
- 6:17Speaker 2: is for you know, Knicks fans. We saw LJ with
- 6:20Speaker 2: the four point play. We talk about that this is
- 6:22Speaker 2: that time ten. So I mean as far as Lowe's moments,
- 6:26Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. Maybe when like Devin Vessel
- 6:30Speaker 2: and Dylan Harper and Champagne made their collective forty thousand
- 6:35Speaker 2: three pointer, like I've never seen like this before, I
- 6:39Speaker 2: was like, it was like, yep, of course this is
- 6:41Speaker 2: going in. Yep, of course that's going in. I mean,
- 6:43Speaker 2: it just it wouldn't stop. It wouldn't stop. I don't understand.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I got to tell you, and I'd love to get
- 6:48Speaker 2: your take on this. My level of confidence that this
- 6:51Speaker 2: is over at three to one is at a negative
- 6:54Speaker 2: one hundred.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I thought, I'm not there, no way, no, yeah, yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I could easily see the Spurs coming back and winning
- 7:01Speaker 1: Game five absolutely, and then coming back to the Mecca
- 7:04Speaker 1: and doing exactly what they just did, but just finishing it.
- 7:07Speaker 3: You know, Yes, I.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Don't feel at ease. I don't feel like we're on
- 7:14Speaker 2: the verge. I don't feel like we're we're about to
- 7:17Speaker 2: win it. I don't feel any of that because maybe
- 7:19Speaker 2: I'm still processing it. But these guys, look, it's the
- 7:23Speaker 2: gift of the curse. They're they're kind of young and dumb,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and I say that with all due respect, so that
- 7:28Speaker 2: allows them to make stupid decisions like they did in
- 7:30Speaker 2: that fourth quarter. Fox is one of the quote unquote
- 7:34Speaker 2: veterans of the team. For as long as I live,
- 7:37Speaker 2: I will never understand why he didn't just hold onto
- 7:39Speaker 2: the ball there with thirteen or so second and OG
- 7:42Speaker 2: thank God, blocks them. But on the flip side of that,
- 7:45Speaker 2: they're young and dumb and very very good, and they
- 7:48Speaker 2: could we don't know how to start games well, and
- 7:52Speaker 2: and they could start Game five on Saturday up twenty
- 7:55Speaker 2: five to two, and we'll be right back in that position.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I don't.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I will not feel comfortable until this is all said
- 8:02Speaker 2: and done, and then I can't wait to never care
- 8:04Speaker 2: as much as I do right now, because this is
- 8:07Speaker 2: too much to handle.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, nothing should surprise Nick fans at this point. Nothing,
- 8:11Speaker 1: not a single outcome should surprise any Nick fan at
- 8:14Speaker 1: this point. Go ahead tell it.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Ariel I thought it was it was bs that the
- 8:18Speaker 4: league didn't upgrade the wemby shove on Brunton to a flavor,
- 8:22Speaker 4: and then of course yesterday he gets another flagrant foul.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Where are you in the camp of one more flagrant
- 8:31Speaker 4: foul point for Wemby gets them suspended, and then the
- 8:34Speaker 4: pushback from that people saying, oh, you don't want to
- 8:36Speaker 4: see somebody like Wemby suspended for a finals with the
- 8:39Speaker 4: Knicks now just one game away from a title.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I've never been one to subscribe to like, oh it's
- 8:47Speaker 2: rigged the script, pro wrestling, all that stuff.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I've never been one.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I don't like that, I don't like conspiracies. I'm just
- 8:56Speaker 2: not that guy. But I mean, come on, man, like
- 8:58Speaker 2: I say, I say, And credit to Richard Jefferson in
- 9:02Speaker 2: particular and Tim Legler to a degree, who I think
- 9:05Speaker 2: all three of them, obviously Breen, iydore him have called
- 9:08Speaker 2: a great finals in my opinion at least. Yeah, they
- 9:10Speaker 2: continue to point it out like these are weird calls
- 9:14Speaker 2: man like that. It's just like time after time after
- 9:18Speaker 2: time after time, it just doesn't seem like it's even
- 9:22Speaker 2: it doesn't see and Monday in particular was just was
- 9:25Speaker 2: gut wrenching the way this was being called. And so yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 2: I would have bet my life that they would have
- 9:31Speaker 2: called that on the Brunton play on Monday. They would
- 9:34Speaker 2: have upgraded it to flagrant one. I didn't think they
- 9:36Speaker 2: were gonna do flagrant too, but I would have bet
- 9:38Speaker 2: my life. And now look how big that decision is.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I don't understand the thought process. I really don't. And
- 9:44Speaker 2: then what about the Josh Hart's three in the corner
- 9:46Speaker 2: in Game three? They call that nothing and they called
- 9:49Speaker 2: that exact play? Yeah, flagrant on Jalen in Team three?
- 9:52Speaker 2: Like it just it hasn't been even and it doesn't
- 9:55Speaker 2: make sense because you would think, like if we're gonna
- 9:58Speaker 2: play the conspiracy game, you would I think the NBA
- 10:00Speaker 2: would be happy about the Knicks winning the championship. That's
- 10:03Speaker 2: good for the league. Look at the ratings and so
- 10:05Speaker 2: I can't really process. Are they just having a bad finals?
- 10:09Speaker 2: Like I don't know, I really don't know. But I
- 10:12Speaker 2: would like to think that any unbiased spectator would agree
- 10:18Speaker 2: that this has not been a very good, uh you know,
- 10:21Speaker 2: reft series and it has not favored the Knicks in
- 10:24Speaker 2: any way, shape or form.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yes, we're all tired, we're all tired, we're all emotional,
- 10:28Speaker 1: we're all reeling. And when I say all of us,
- 10:30Speaker 1: I mean all of New York City, the entire state,
- 10:34Speaker 1: the entire fan base. But did you, like what at
- 10:36Speaker 1: what point did you realize you needed to self edit
- 10:39Speaker 1: yourself when you were giving WU tag Plan one hundred
- 10:44Speaker 1: of the Bone Yard some credit for the victory last night.
- 10:49Speaker 2: You know what, Maybe it is, I mean, maybe they
- 10:51Speaker 2: put some some like WU magic out there. I don't
- 10:53Speaker 2: know what it is, but certainly everything changed afterwards. Can
- 10:58Speaker 2: I tell I don't know if you had the the
- 11:01Speaker 2: same experience, Like there are times where like there's a
- 11:03Speaker 2: game and you're jumping up and down. Even till the
- 11:06Speaker 2: very end, I was not allowing myself to get truly
- 11:09Speaker 2: truly happy, Like my kids were going crazy, and I'm like,
- 11:12Speaker 2: sh because I felt like we didn't like it was over.
- 11:16Speaker 3: It was over.
- 11:16Speaker 2: It was over. And then you start to believe, and
- 11:18Speaker 2: you're at fifteen fifteen, and then they get it back
- 11:20Speaker 2: to twenty one and you're like, but then it gets
- 11:23Speaker 2: the single digits and you start to really believe internally.
- 11:26Speaker 2: But you have already at least me, like you're already
- 11:29Speaker 2: in the back of your mind saying, okay, it's too two.
- 11:30Speaker 2: We're going back to San Antonio, this, that and the other,
- 11:33Speaker 2: and now you're giving yourself this hope, and you don't
- 11:35Speaker 2: want it to be false hope, And so honestly, up
- 11:38Speaker 2: until OG's tippin', I never like went crazy even when
- 11:41Speaker 2: Brunton hit that three, because I didn't want to like.
- 11:46Speaker 2: It was such a painful experience that I didn't want
- 11:48Speaker 2: to be like. I can't believe I went from like
- 11:51Speaker 2: the depths of hell to the believing only to lose
- 11:54Speaker 2: by one in the end. Does that make sense?
- 11:56Speaker 3: I make yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 1: No, no, no, it makes total sense. It's the roller coaster
- 12:00Speaker 1: of emotions. I went through it as well. And I
- 12:01Speaker 1: will tell you this, even after he hit that shot
- 12:04Speaker 1: Og with one point two seconds to go, I still
- 12:06Speaker 1: wasn't comfortable. And I'll tell you what, if Carl Anthony
- 12:09Speaker 1: Towns doesn't swap that pass, they had the perfect inbounds play,
- 12:12Speaker 1: they would have broken our hearts. I'm telling you.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I could. I could visually. I think I've watched every
- 12:19Speaker 2: angle I swear more than a hundred times. At this point,
- 12:22Speaker 2: I can't get enough because I have to keep seeing
- 12:24Speaker 2: it to understand it and believe it. And I'm so
- 12:28Speaker 2: happy you mentioned that Cat, someone who's been maligned for
- 12:31Speaker 2: not being a good defensive player. The foul trouble. Fourth quarter.
- 12:35Speaker 2: You could see Stevin Castle had it like that was
- 12:38Speaker 2: a lob and he was going to lay it in.
- 12:40Speaker 2: He's going to lay it in.
- 12:41Speaker 3: And it would have been their moment.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yes, And then you see the ball just kind of
- 12:46Speaker 2: die because he gets what like a fingertip.
- 12:48Speaker 3: On it, a nail on it.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Unbelievable play and thank god they put him on the inbounder.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Thank god they put him on the inbounder because if
- 12:56Speaker 2: it's anyone shorter than him, they very well win that game.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yes, one percent.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I've watched it a dozen times.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Go ahead, Taylor, Ariel Knicks fans, we love Josh Hart
- 13:07Speaker 4: and maybe nobody's night and the rest of their lives
- 13:10Speaker 4: was changed more on OJN and Obie's tip than Josh
- 13:14Speaker 4: Hart Ware gave them. He missed the layup. He doesn't
- 13:16Speaker 4: box out Castle, he fouls Castle. That was going to
- 13:18Speaker 4: be his legacy, the way that, no matter how good
- 13:21Speaker 4: John Stark's career is, the first thing people mentioned normally
- 13:25Speaker 4: is that two of eighteen game. How happy are you
- 13:27Speaker 4: for Josh Hart today?
- 13:30Speaker 2: Oh? Man, I adore that guy. He's my son's favorite player. Yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 2: I got to do a thing for the Premier League
- 13:37Speaker 2: earlier this year. He's a huge Chelsea fan, and it
- 13:41Speaker 2: was just basically like the premise of the show was like,
- 13:44Speaker 2: how do Americans watch socer? And this will make sense
- 13:47Speaker 2: in a moment. And so the first thing I thought
- 13:49Speaker 2: about was, Oh, I know Josh Hart is a diehard
- 13:51Speaker 2: Chelsea fan. Maybe this could be my chance to finally
- 13:54Speaker 2: meet him. And so we put in the request and
- 13:56Speaker 2: I interviewed him and he was such a good dude,
- 13:59Speaker 2: and I brought my kids and he was so kind
- 14:01Speaker 2: to them, and it just made us all fall in
- 14:03Speaker 2: love with him that much more. And so I my
- 14:07Speaker 2: heart broke for him because that's the same rim that
- 14:09Speaker 2: that youing, my favorite player of all time missed the
- 14:12Speaker 2: finger roll, and you know that that's gonna eat him
- 14:15Speaker 2: up inside. I'm sure on this Thursday morning, he's still
- 14:19Speaker 2: thinking about that despite the win, because he's a competitor,
- 14:22Speaker 2: and it's just we've all been there playing basketball, right,
- 14:24Speaker 2: You think the guy is coming, you're anticipating maybe some
- 14:27Speaker 2: you know, some some some contact you just kind of
- 14:31Speaker 2: laid in there. It goes off the back rim, all
- 14:33Speaker 2: that stuff. We've all been there to a degree. Obviously,
- 14:35Speaker 2: not you know to that degree, but it's a it
- 14:38Speaker 2: was gut wrenching and and and great call by you
- 14:41Speaker 2: on the on the box out like usually he he
- 14:45Speaker 2: covers the man and as Legler pointed out on the broadcast,
- 14:48Speaker 2: he was watching the ball, which is what you're not
- 14:50Speaker 2: supposed to do. He didn't get a body on on castle.
- 14:53Speaker 2: So yeah, rare sort of like intangible mistakes there. But man,
- 15:00Speaker 2: Og like that guy will never if this turn. Look,
- 15:03Speaker 2: if they don't win this, this will all be a
- 15:06Speaker 2: nice little story, but it won't be the lore won't
- 15:10Speaker 2: be what we truly want it to be. So they
- 15:12Speaker 2: have to have to have to figure this out. I
- 15:14Speaker 2: don't subscribe to the notion like, oh, let's win at home.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Screw that.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Please end this on Saturday, you know anymore?
- 15:26Speaker 2: I can't handle it. You know what's one of my
- 15:29Speaker 2: favorite under underrated moments When Ogs is walking back after
- 15:34Speaker 2: the tip and uh, he's not even smiling. Kat hugs him,
- 15:39Speaker 2: but he doesn't hug him like hugging a teammate like
- 15:43Speaker 2: when they score a big play. He's hugging him like
- 15:46Speaker 2: all of us. Look at the way Kat rests his
- 15:48Speaker 2: head on his shoulder, like thank you, man, and I
- 15:52Speaker 2: felt like that was Yeah, that was what I feel
- 15:54Speaker 2: like every New Yorker, every Nick fan in the world
- 15:58Speaker 2: wanted to do to that guy right then. In there,
- 16:00Speaker 2: he's wearing sketchers. Guys, Ogananobi wears sketchers to play basketball
- 16:05Speaker 2: in the NBA, and he did that wearing sketchers. God
- 16:09Speaker 2: bless him.
- 16:12Speaker 1: It is such a great point.
- 16:14Speaker 3: He did it in sketchers.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, in the world.
- 16:24Speaker 3: For sure, Yeah, sketchers. It's really fun.
- 16:28Speaker 2: He saved us wearing sketchers.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Golly want to run. It is unbelievable. Listen, I'm again.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I think we're all speechless. I'm tired, I'm exhausted, but
- 16:43Speaker 1: I've also never been more alive and more weight in
- 16:47Speaker 1: my entire life. Since we're doing percentages, you gave Tanklan
- 16:52Speaker 1: one hundred percent, you pull them back to thirty.
- 16:53Speaker 3: I think that's fair. Thirty is fair.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Let's give the players twenty. Would you give fifty percent
- 16:58Speaker 1: of the credit to the Mecca last night, because sometimes
- 17:01Speaker 1: that building just win you a game.
- 17:03Speaker 3: You know, that crowd was unbelievable.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I was at the I was at the game on Monday.
- 17:10Speaker 2: We didn't talk because it was a loss. But I've
- 17:13Speaker 2: never felt energy like that, like when they when they
- 17:15Speaker 2: ran out for layup lines. I've never felt energy like that.
- 17:19Speaker 2: And you know, I've been lucky enough. I've been to
- 17:21Speaker 2: some pretty cool, you know, sporting events, especially fights, right,
- 17:25Speaker 2: so like fights Saturday night in Vegas, Conor McGregor is
- 17:28Speaker 2: walking out. It's it's hard to match that. It's it's
- 17:33Speaker 2: you know, that's like biblical stuff, you know, it's Roman
- 17:35Speaker 2: Coliseum stuff. And and this topped it finds ten and uh,
- 17:40Speaker 2: it was you know, a massive bummer that it didn't
- 17:42Speaker 2: end up in a win, but that crowd was unbelievable.
- 17:46Speaker 2: You know, I'm not a big Taylor Swift fan. And
- 17:50Speaker 2: Gully was she annoying me with that with their stupid
- 17:53Speaker 2: T shirt. She was just sitting courtside, cheering on the calves.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I told her to get the hell out of my build.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I screamed it at my television.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I know, yeah, I know, I know. It was killing me.
- 18:05Speaker 2: But it was great to see like the players reacting
- 18:07Speaker 2: and the look on their faces. And I'm just I'm
- 18:10Speaker 2: so happy for us Knicks fans. I just I just
- 18:14Speaker 2: want this. We can't forget that there's one more and
- 18:17Speaker 2: people have come back from three to one. And this
- 18:20Speaker 2: is a really good team, and they've kind of, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 2: I don't know, they've outplayed us for the most part.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Like we keep falling down at SAT yesterday, first time
- 18:28Speaker 2: in NBA Finals history that a team has been down
- 18:31Speaker 2: double digits in the first quarter every single game.
- 18:34Speaker 3: That's not good.
- 18:35Speaker 2: We need to start better.
- 18:37Speaker 3: We need to figure this out, and we need to
- 18:39Speaker 3: end this. We need to end this on Saturday. We
- 18:41Speaker 3: have to. We have to.
- 18:44Speaker 1: How are you going to get yourself out of Jerry
- 18:46Speaker 1: Duty today? What are you get to do? You're gonna
- 18:47Speaker 1: walk into Jerry Duty? Just tell them you're a Nick fan.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You're not thinking straight and you need to go.
- 18:53Speaker 2: So this is this is the lunacy of it all.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I didn't realize I became a US citizen in twenty
- 19:01Speaker 2: and twenty two. I didn't realize that this is This
- 19:05Speaker 2: is not a perk, This is not a good thing.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Had I known that, you know, if I would have
- 19:09Speaker 2: just remained on my green card, that they would leave
- 19:11Speaker 2: me alone with this stuff, I would have never become
- 19:13Speaker 2: a citizen. And so they keep sending me these letters.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Jury dude here, So I'll just call up. I'm like Hey,
- 19:19Speaker 2: I host the show. I have to be there and
- 19:21Speaker 2: people depend on me. Okay, defer it, defer it. I
- 19:24Speaker 2: kept deferring it for maybe two years and then they're like,
- 19:27Speaker 2: you can't defer anymore. That's it, And I say, and
- 19:29Speaker 2: what They're like, there is no and what you have
- 19:31Speaker 2: to be there? So my data is June eleventh, and
- 19:34Speaker 2: here I am going to Jerry duty no idea what
- 19:36Speaker 2: this means, and uh, you know, to be honest, I'm
- 19:40Speaker 2: not that annoyed because I'm flying high. You could tell
- 19:42Speaker 2: me that I'm you know, they could tell me right
- 19:44Speaker 2: now that I'm about to show up and do this,
- 19:46Speaker 2: and I have no idea what it entails. I'd be like, oh,
- 19:48Speaker 2: by the way, you have to get a colonoscopy real quick,
- 19:51Speaker 2: and I'll be like, all right, let's do it. I
- 19:53Speaker 2: don't care. I don't think there's anything on this planet
- 19:56Speaker 2: right now that can upset me.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Right now. It is a little bit weird.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I wish I was doing something else if I'm being
- 20:01Speaker 2: one hundred percent honest, but I have a permanent smile
- 20:04Speaker 2: on my face. By the way, how long are we
- 20:06Speaker 2: allowed to like revel in this?
- 20:08Speaker 3: What is it like?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Could we give ourselves the day. At what point do
- 20:11Speaker 2: we turn our tiction to, Like Saturday's what's the cutoff?
- 20:15Speaker 1: So I think for today we we you know, it's
- 20:17Speaker 1: a celibratory day. We witness the greatest comeback in NBA
- 20:21Speaker 1: Finals history. It fell out our way. We enjoy it
- 20:23Speaker 1: for a day, and then Friday, because you're right, the
- 20:25Speaker 1: bigger prize is still out there. Friday, we turn our
- 20:28Speaker 1: attention and we're back to business, you know.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Okay, So we give ourselves a day like today. I
- 20:35Speaker 2: want to revel in all the content, all the clips,
- 20:38Speaker 2: all the interviews, all the post game I want, I
- 20:41Speaker 2: just I need it. But I gotta say it's hard
- 20:45Speaker 2: because I'm like, I don't want us to be the
- 20:50Speaker 2: butt of the joke. I'm so tired of the lol
- 20:52Speaker 2: ns and all this stuff will be thrown right in
- 20:55Speaker 2: our face, if you know. And this is the PTSD
- 20:59Speaker 2: talking right like it was like, we've just been through
- 21:01Speaker 2: so much, but maybe this is destiny. Maybe it's destiny
- 21:05Speaker 2: once and for all, and we can finally all rest
- 21:08Speaker 2: in peace. I don't mean rest in peace like die
- 21:10Speaker 2: by the way, I just like no, but.
- 21:12Speaker 1: You'd be more comfortable if you did, though, right.
- 21:19Speaker 2: And by the way, I'm a huge soccer fan. The
- 21:21Speaker 2: World Cup starts today, and I couldn't give two crap.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I can remind me, I like, the World Cup starts today.
- 21:29Speaker 2: What's that's absurd in its own right?
- 21:34Speaker 3: Real quick?
- 21:35Speaker 1: You're so right, I forgot the World Cups started today.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Wemby looked broken last night in the post game. You're
- 21:42Speaker 1: not buying it, though, are you?
- 21:43Speaker 3: You know?
- 21:43Speaker 1: Buy Wemby looked broken. People's taste he's done. You're not
- 21:46Speaker 1: buying it?
- 21:47Speaker 2: No, no, And you know I saw the clip of
- 21:49Speaker 2: them throwing eggs at him. Look, I'm not a fan.
- 21:53Speaker 2: There's a million things I could say I hate when
- 21:54Speaker 2: he did the I'm in your head, but like don't, like,
- 21:59Speaker 2: don't don't don't turn the dogs on us, Okay, Like,
- 22:03Speaker 2: let's just I know, I know I'm speaking to a
- 22:06Speaker 2: whole bunch of different fans, but like, no one deserves that.
- 22:10Speaker 2: That was like wild to see them getting off the bus.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I've never seen that. I don't know if you guys
- 22:14Speaker 2: saw that clip. They're getting off the bus and it's
- 22:16Speaker 2: like they're walking into like, you know, Thunderdome and and
- 22:20Speaker 2: people are throwing things at them. I just I don't
- 22:23Speaker 2: want any of this to bite us in the butt.
- 22:25Speaker 3: That's all. That's all.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I just let's end this once and for Dolan and
- 22:30Speaker 2: mom Donnie are fighting like please, guys, please, it's like
- 22:34Speaker 2: keep it together and then well, you know, we could
- 22:37Speaker 2: do whatever we want, but stop stop tempting faith.
- 22:40Speaker 3: That's all all.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Right, man, get out of here. Good luck with Jerry Duty.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I'm sorry that you have to go through that, but
- 22:46Speaker 1: nothing can can put you in a bad mood today.
- 22:48Speaker 1: As you mentioned, people could take advantage of you today
- 22:50Speaker 1: and you wouldn't be totally vine with it. A grdy
- 22:52Speaker 1: d tank forever.
- 22:57Speaker 3: One more, guys, let's one more. Jacob.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Check out his program on the Young Crowned The Ariel
- 23:03Speaker 1: Hawani Show every day except today because he's on Jerry too.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Need.
- 23:06Speaker 1: He's flying high because of the New York Knicks. One
- 23:08Speaker 1: more to go, man. I love you, I love you
- 23:10Speaker 1: so much. Thank you for doing this.
