- 0:01Yeah, yes. What about Bound Banger
- 0:05Management Fantasy hockey podcast?
- 0:07Woo woo woo. The one perk of not recording in
- 0:11person is that I don't have to maintain eye contact with you
- 0:14for the woos. You also have to mention contact
- 0:16with me in person either Li do. This part of the process
- 0:24process. Jesus sounds right, yeah.
- 0:31Welcome one Welcome all to Bangor Management, the fantasy
- 0:35hockey podcast with Jake, Josh and I contact Kevin.
- 0:39How y'all doing? Well, wanna get a nickname?
- 0:44He's always getting new nicknames.
- 0:45How come I don't get any? Yes.
- 0:48You'll get some nicknames. Haul away.
- 0:52He's not as memorable as Kevin, I guess.
- 0:53No, you're very memorable. It's going to turn into a
- 0:59therapy session. No, I'm great.
- 1:04I'm very excited for this episode.
- 1:07I think. I mean, I'm also very excited
- 1:09for for two days away from our draft.
- 1:11So I'm literally spending hours every day building up my draft
- 1:16board and I'm very excited with where I'm ending up so far.
- 1:19We had actually a few people on Tiktok ask us if we have a
- 1:22rankings anywhere, which obviously, obviously we do not
- 1:26currently have any rankings out there publicly, but maybe next
- 1:29year something we can look into if people are genuinely curious.
- 1:32Yeah, definitely something that could provide a lot of value,
- 1:36like to have all of our picks kind of concrete.
- 1:38I'm sure we'll differ on a few. We'll probably different more
- 1:41than just a few so. Yeah, I'm very mainstream with
- 1:45my divisional picks, so I wonder if that'll translate to player
- 1:48rankings. You or anything but provisional
- 1:53mix. Is gonna call you.
- 1:54Ending up ending. Kevin.
- 1:57Yeah. McDavid, McKinnon, Driscoll,
- 2:02Cooley. I said what I said.
- 2:07Yeah, cool. So Speaking of players, we're
- 2:10super high on today. We have a very, very fun episode
- 2:14for you all. This is our signature picks
- 2:17episode where we basically pick one forward, one defenseman, one
- 2:21goal is that one goalie, 1 goalie that we're staking our
- 2:26reputation on. These are guys that we all
- 2:28really believe in, and we're going to give you some more
- 2:31information on that shortly before we dive in.
- 2:34You can find the link to all our socials and the link tree in the
- 2:37podcast description. We're new to TikTok and Discord,
- 2:39so be sure to join the Discord community.
- 2:41Everything can be found in the link tree.
- 2:43And yeah, looking forward to growing our fan base and
- 2:47communicating with all of you guys.
- 2:49And thanks for everybody for listening.
- 2:50So Kevin, wanna give them a rundown of what the signature
- 2:54picks are? Yes.
- 2:55So signature picks patent pending on the name, we are also
- 3:01open. To right than a patent.
- 3:03I said patent pending. Well, yes, copyright or
- 3:08trademark or whatever you want. Anyways, the name is subject to
- 3:11change, but I think Signature picks works well, rolls off the
- 3:14tongue. And basically it is if you're
- 3:17familiar with football in any way, it's like a my guys
- 3:20episode. And basically these are guys
- 3:23that we wholeheartedly believe in their success this season.
- 3:26We want to get them on all of our teams.
- 3:28We are like sticking our reputation on them.
- 3:31If they bust, then we're probably busting in fantasy this
- 3:34season. So these are these are guys that
- 3:36we want to make. What about busting?
- 3:39Stop laughing. You just saw me smiling.
- 3:43I saw both of you. Start smiling.
- 3:44You saw him smile. Bustin makes me feel.
- 3:48Good. That is from Ghostbusters.
- 3:56I would not have put those pieces together.
- 3:57But nonetheless, yes, these are guys that we personally, each of
- 4:02us believe. We don't have to necessarily
- 4:03agree with each other's signature picks, but these are
- 4:07guys. So if you, if you prefer Jake's
- 4:08opinion over Josh or I or Josh over me or Jakey, then maybe you
- 4:13lean more into Josh's signature picks or vice versa or whatever.
- 4:16But these are guys that we love, we want on our team and we
- 4:19wholeheartedly believe we'll have success this season
- 4:21beautifully. Played.
- 4:24You just leave credibly, beautifully.
- 4:25But yeah, so Josh, why don't you start us off with your forward
- 4:29signature pick? Alright, my forward signature
- 4:33pick is not gonna be a surprise to anyone who's been listening
- 4:36to the podcast over the summer because I won't stop talking
- 4:39about him. It is Dylan Holloway of the
- 4:42Saint Louis Blues. I think this might be my last
- 4:44chance to talk about him before the season starts, so it's a bit
- 4:48bittersweet, but let me dive in on, you know, keep hammering
- 4:52home why I love this guy so much.
- 4:54Quickly, quick summary of last year's stats.
- 4:56He put up .82 points per game, .17 power play points, 2.3
- 4:59shots, 2.1 hits. He as I've mentioned previously
- 5:02on other episodes, he really turned it off once Montgomery
- 5:06got hired as coach and especially in that big run they
- 5:09had towards the end of the season.
- 5:11I think with that pace that he had, if over the course of a
- 5:14whole season, he can easily be a point per game guy, easily
- 5:17double double. And you look at his power play
- 5:18production last year, only .17 that definitely has room to grow
- 5:21positively. So I think it's only up for
- 5:24Holloway from last season, and he's not necessarily the biggest
- 5:29name out there just yet. I think this is gonna be the
- 5:32last chance to grab him as late as you can grab him this year.
- 5:35ICM going in a lot of drafts, I could see him going around like
- 5:38789, something like that. And if you grab him there,
- 5:41that's crazy value compared to other guys who are going in that
- 5:43area. So I love Holloway, everyone
- 5:46knows I love him. And yeah, I'm going to keep
- 5:48saying it all season. I mean how I feel about choice,
- 5:53I wanna say how I feel about doing Holloway.
- 5:54Is he seems like he's under the radar and everybody else's
- 5:59projections or rankings or whatnot except ours.
- 6:02And maybe it's just because we were biased with how good he was
- 6:05for our specific league, which is just like, you know, a
- 6:08category lead that covers pretty much all categories like shots,
- 6:10hits, Pimms. And he was, he was one of the
- 6:14best players in fantasy to end the season last year.
- 6:16So I'm surprised that people aren't really, you know,
- 6:18projecting him for more points or more shots than they're
- 6:21estimating. I think if you get them in the
- 6:23sixth or seventh round, it can be like a home run pick for your
- 6:27for your fantasy teams. Obviously with Holloway, his ADP
- 6:30is like really deep on most of these platforms.
- 6:34So if you're drafting, you're draft him ahead of ADP.
- 6:36It's just how high over ADP are you willing to go to get them on
- 6:39your roster? So it definitely depends on how
- 6:42deep your league is, how in terms of teams and how shallow
- 6:45it is in terms of roster construction.
- 6:47But yeah, love Dylan Holloway. I think it's going to be a
- 6:49fantastic pick this season. Yeah, he's like a stable on your
- 6:54bangers team for sure. Even in a points league he's
- 6:58great, but he's just that much better in a Bangers league.
- 7:02And these are elite, elite stats.
- 7:03It's kind of like Brady to Chuck Light, but he's young.
- 7:06I mean, you don't even know what he could do this year because
- 7:09he's never had even last year, right?
- 7:11It was the coaching change and then Saint Louis kind of picked
- 7:14things up. This year.
- 7:15He's coming into it with a lot of great reasons that he's going
- 7:19to succeed. He himself is a great player,
- 7:21but the surrounding cast awesome.
- 7:23I think I'm the highest in Saint Louis out of all of you, so I
- 7:25think the offence is going to be there.
- 7:26He'll be a big part of it and even if it's an off points week,
- 7:30you'll still have the amazing shots, hits, combo.
- 7:32I love it, it's a great choice. I'm low keys like extremely
- 7:38getting higher on the Saint Louis as the season approaches.
- 7:41I just keep thinking. Louis Saint Louis Blues.
- 7:44As a seasonal approaches, I just remember like Jim Montgomery
- 7:48with what he did with Boss in a few years ago with them winning
- 7:50the Presidents Trophy. And like now he's going into the
- 7:52season with like a fresh start with a bunch of young talent on
- 7:55this team, a bunch of veteran talent.
- 7:57I feel like he has all the pieces to just like make this
- 7:59team really good from the start to finish.
- 8:02And given the other teams ahead of them like that also have
- 8:06questions or, you know, possible regression, I just feel like,
- 8:10Jake, your, your take of them finishing second is is maybe not
- 8:13as crazy as I originally anticipated.
- 8:16Well, well, well. How the turntables?
- 8:19Sorry, Josh. I still think that it's crazy,
- 8:22so I like St. Louis a lot, I still think.
- 8:25That's crazy as I initially. Anticipated.
- 8:27Yeah. I still think too is pretty
- 8:28nuts. And another funny thing about
- 8:30this Holloway pic is I actually think because of how much I've
- 8:33talked about him over the summer, I don't think I'm going
- 8:36to get him on my team. I think one of you guys going to
- 8:38grab him before me because The thing is like, you have to fight
- 8:41when you love a guy, you still have to fight, like picking him
- 8:44too high. That was on our draft tips
- 8:46episode and I can't let myself get into my own hype.
- 8:50You getting, you build hype in your head and it starts
- 8:52spiraling and then all of a sudden you buy 2 rounds too
- 8:54early. And yeah, I'm not willing to do
- 8:56that. I'm not exactly.
- 8:57I'm really, I'm really trying to be disciplined this year.
- 9:00So I wouldn't be surprised if one of you guys snipe him the
- 9:02round I wanna grab him just if it's the turn of the round where
- 9:05you guys are ahead of me instead of the other way around.
- 9:07But no, I would, I would love to have him and I think he's a
- 9:10really exciting pick. Speaking of which, are you
- 9:12taking Slop or Holloway higher this year?
- 9:14I know we've spoken about that, but I can't remember all the.
- 9:16Specific I'm taking Callaway. Here.
- 9:18I'm lowkey worried sloth is not on PP1 anymore.
- 9:22It's possible. Line has looked really good.
- 9:25We could. That's gonna get us off track.
- 9:27But yeah, we talk. We we, we can and definitely
- 9:29will talk about that in future episodes.
- 9:32But I kind of agree. And I think Holloway is gonna be
- 9:34pretty safe there. And he's 24 years old.
- 9:37He's just getting better. And the Blues are going to be a
- 9:39wagon. It's going to be really nice to
- 9:40watch. Cool.
- 9:42So let's move on to my Signature 6.
- 9:47That's a joke rolls off the tongue.
- 9:52I thought you were just dyslexic for a second.
- 9:56Cool. So also surprising absolutely no
- 10:00one who's been listening to the podcast this summer.
- 10:03My pick for my forward over here is Marty Nazis.
- 10:07The crowd goes wild. Surprise, surprise.
- 10:10Not shocked at. All Yeah, so he's about to
- 10:14explode for an insane year. This year he had 83 points in 79
- 10:17games. Last year he broke the rod
- 10:19curse. What, You heard of my crew?
- 10:25Sorry. Sorry for party rocking.
- 10:32Sorry, yeah, I think that was a worthy interruption.
- 10:35Definitely not a stupid way to ruin your.
- 10:37Group No, that's cool. I hear you.
- 10:39Yeah, 83.79 games last year he broke the raw curse and he
- 10:43managed to do super well after being traded to Colorado.
- 10:46And you know, we've spoken about how McDavid and dry subtle for
- 10:50years. Like anyone who plays with them,
- 10:52you want them on your team. But the truth is they never
- 10:55really been able to bring out the best in guys the way that
- 10:57both like Putrov and in my opinion, especially to McKinnon
- 11:00can. So now he's going to be a
- 11:02mainstay on that line with McKinnon, which is awesome.
- 11:05He's one of the best line, pretty much the best line mate
- 11:07you could have in the league. Yeah.
- 11:10And on top of all this, Bednar is basically the anti Rod
- 11:15Tortorella. He knows how to get the best out
- 11:18of his players for fantasy production and yeah it it's he
- 11:22was able to transition really seamlessly natures last year
- 11:25when he got traded to Colorado. So now with a summer to practice
- 11:28and starting off this year, I'm really, really high on him.
- 11:30He's currently the 60th player off our board in our league
- 11:34settings, which is a standard bangers league with faceoffs,
- 11:36and it's near my fifth round pick, but I'm considering to
- 11:40actually take him in the 3rd. And I don't think that playoff
- 11:44schedule is necessarily the biggest thing when it comes to
- 11:48our signature picks because you're Regent like you're
- 11:52willing to stake your reputation on these guys anyways.
- 11:54It's not so much about that, but the four 3-4 in the playoffs is
- 11:58just like a really sweet cherry on top.
- 12:00And yeah, I think for all these reasons, I'm super high on him
- 12:04and I think he could, he's gonna hit that 94 threshold this year.
- 12:07And if he hits 100, I'd be elated but not overly surprised.
- 12:11I think you could ask one of my thoughts I'm about to share.
- 12:18I was gonna say I honestly, I've been growing on natures as well,
- 12:21surprise, surprise, but just maybe here you rave about them
- 12:24for like. The last music to my ears.
- 12:26Kevin is just slowly like watching all of Jake's opinions.
- 12:30Am I the outsider now? But I I just think that Nature
- 12:35is playing with McKinnon on that power play.
- 12:38I don't think it's crazy that he hits 90 points and getting a guy
- 12:42like that and potentially the third or fourth round in your
- 12:44fantasy leagues, like our league is 14 teams, like very deep.
- 12:48It would be the 2022 rounds deep.
- 12:50Like getting him there, being able to produce at that level
- 12:53for points is just crazy. The only thing when Nature has
- 12:57always been his shots. I think he probably shoots more
- 13:00this season than he did last season with the Colorado, but
- 13:04it's still a he had. He just has the crazy upside.
- 13:07Like if McKinnon drops 140, nature is probably dropping 100
- 13:10realistically, if they're together the whole season and we
- 13:13know McKinnon could drop 140. So it's just like if you're
- 13:16putting 22 together, like you're projecting nature for 50 less
- 13:19points than McKinnon, I don't think that's possible.
- 13:22So all those things together just makes me think maybe his
- 13:25point ceiling is much higher than we know we're all
- 13:27projecting for, and getting them on your team in the third or
- 13:30fourth round would be crazy good business.
- 13:33Yeah, I definitely, I definitely agree.
- 13:35He's again, when you first were showing your hype for him, I
- 13:39didn't disagree because I also think he's gonna be really good.
- 13:42But obviously you were extra excited.
- 13:43But the more that we're getting close to the season, I'm looking
- 13:45into it. Fully agree.
- 13:47He's going to be a great third slash, fourth round pick.
- 13:49And also I was looking at his last year stats .47 power play
- 13:52points per game. You know who does that?
- 13:54That's that's like McKinnon, McDavid, and that was with half
- 13:57the year on a Rod team whose power play I think was 28th in
- 14:00the league. So there's really, he's just
- 14:04unreal. I think especially with where
- 14:06you can get him in the draft in the 3rd or 4th, he's one of
- 14:08those when you're picking that point in the draft, you want a
- 14:10guy who's gonna give you over a point per game, gonna give you
- 14:13monster power play points and gonna give you some shots.
- 14:15And so even if nature hovers around the 2.5 shots where he
- 14:18was at last year, the insane points upside and power play
- 14:21points upside makes him sick pick so.
- 14:23He loved his. Signature pick?
- 14:25Yeah, pretty much. He becomes Mitch Marner if he's
- 14:27able. To I mean to have around you
- 14:28another another comparable. I'm seeing yes for Brat being
- 14:33looked at as a second rounder and a lot of the rankings
- 14:35looking at not that I would take him that early, but but that's
- 14:38where he's being projected. Why is he getting projected 2
- 14:41rounds or whatever ahead of niches?
- 14:43I see them being very similar types of players.
- 14:46Rad also put up .4 something points last year, similar shots.
- 14:49So I I love NHS pick and it's like Jackie said, you know, it
- 14:52used to be. I mean it still is, but anytime
- 14:54anyone plays with me David recital, it's immediately like,
- 14:57Oh my God, you have to snatch him up.
- 14:59It'll be on random fourth line plug and it's like they're on a
- 15:01line with McDavid and dry side. You know, like I saw in practice
- 15:03Trent Frederick playing with McDavid and dry.
- 15:05So I'm like, Oh, well, I gotta add him to my watch.
- 15:06That's how you know. Yeah.
- 15:08So. So here it's the same thing,
- 15:10except he's actually a good player on his own, too.
- 15:12So yeah, no, this is a great signature pick.
- 15:14Very excited to see what does this.
- 15:15Year the eye test too. He's amazing.
- 15:16He like flies on the ice strip super good.
- 15:19So I'm really, really excited to see and you're right.
- 15:21I mean, the comparisons both Brat and Marna, right?
- 15:24I feel like he's very similar. Like the outcome range is around
- 15:28there and nobody thinks he's I mean Marner is more elite than
- 15:32Brad and Marner is the brat with nature's is to you know what I
- 15:37mean? Yeah.
- 15:39My convoluted way. No.
- 15:40Finish your sentence. Brad is the Marner, What nature
- 15:44says to Brat Boom. Like those, the proof is left to
- 15:48the reader. Yeah, cool.
- 15:52Cool. I'm glad, Kevin.
- 15:53I like that you're coming to the dark side with all.
- 15:55That it's crazy. It's it's lonely here on the
- 15:58light side. The only other thing too, like
- 16:01you said, like the eye test, obviously Rantanen is a
- 16:04significantly better player than Natures, but there's an argument
- 16:07to be made that maybe nature's play style is more suited to be
- 16:09paired with McKinnon then what Ranch was.
- 16:12So I think that maybe obviously, like Renton did what he did,
- 16:16like even without necessarily being beastly suited to play
- 16:19with McKinnon, but he's just so talented and they just could do
- 16:23the same thing just because he's better suited.
- 16:24So either way, I think it's gonna be fantastic.
- 16:27And should I get into my pic? Yeah, absolutely.
- 16:30Go. For another one that's
- 16:31surprising absolutely no one who's a fan, Yes.
- 16:34So my pick surprised to no one is Brandon Hagel of the Tampa
- 16:39Bay Lightning. So last season if I read off his
- 16:42stats you guys will be shocked. It is .43 points per goals per
- 16:46game .67 assists per game over a .67.
- 16:52Even though. It means nobody knows what it
- 16:55means, but it's provocative. It gets the people going.
- 16:59Yes it does. So that comes out to 1.1 points
- 17:02per game, which is insane for a guy that was not on P1 in the
- 17:07Tampa Bay Lightning. One of the best power plays on
- 17:09in the league. He averaged 0.13 power play
- 17:13points last season and 0.09 shorthanded points.
- 17:16He had 11 PowerPoint points, 7 shorthanded points last season.
- 17:19Can you imagine a world where a guy is getting over point for
- 17:22giving us more shorties than power play points?
- 17:24It's nuts. So that just lays the foundation
- 17:27for being able to, if he gets on that power play, it just feels
- 17:31like is the limit. It just feels like what he did
- 17:33last year is a foundation. I don't if he doesn't get a
- 17:36power play 1, I don't see him doing exactly what he did last
- 17:38year. Instead of 1.1, maybe he's at a
- 17:40.9 points per game. But the upside if he gets on
- 17:44that power play and he is one of the top five talented players on
- 17:48this team and he should be there, right?
- 17:49We're seeing in preseason, which you know, to maybe poo poo on
- 17:53this on this take a little bit is Oliver, George Strand is
- 17:56playing on that P1 ahead of Hagel.
- 17:58I just do not see that lasting the whole season.
- 18:00I think once Hagel gets there, he's going to be an absolute
- 18:03monster. And there's also the injury
- 18:05upside. If somebody gets hurt, he's
- 18:06obviously going to be the guy that's there.
- 18:08If you add like you know, .2 extra power play points to his
- 18:11production of last season, he's a 1.3 points per game player.
- 18:141.0.3 power play point guy. You're getting 30 still with the
- 18:18shorties too. Like obviously there's not many
- 18:20leagues that play in leagues that count shorthanded points
- 18:22hours does, which makes him extra valuable.
- 18:25He's gonna be going in the fourth or fifth round in our
- 18:27league. It's just depends on your risk
- 18:28tolerance. Where are you convinced that he
- 18:30does get on that power player or not?
- 18:32I am convinced he gets on that power play.
- 18:34Obviously when you're on the clock, it's and you have to see
- 18:37who else is available in your league, But I feel like Brendan
- 18:40Hagel is just one of those guys that has such a high floor, will
- 18:44not ruin your draft, will be so consistent and then the upside
- 18:48to reach those like super high heights.
- 18:50It's just I think he's an incredible player.
- 18:53Yeah, I think I agree with everything you said.
- 18:56It's kind of like you said, where, you know, Even so high on
- 18:59him all offseason and then now we're getting the reports out
- 19:01and it's Bjorkstrand instead of Hagel as that fifth Scott guy on
- 19:04power play 1. So obviously that hampers it a
- 19:05bit. And I do think that the reason
- 19:07they're trend is specifically because of his handedness.
- 19:10Yeah, that's the only reason. So that's I think that as long
- 19:14as the top five guys in that power play stay healthy, I don't
- 19:17see Hagel cracking it. But one, Berkshire, that hasn't
- 19:21been the healthiest player in the past to like you said, any
- 19:24of those 4 forwards get injured, Hagel's the next man up.
- 19:26But also three, it's the floor, like you said, even without the
- 19:28power play, even if he doesn't do as crazy as he did last year,
- 19:32like the floor of .9 points per game with shorties, with shots,
- 19:36you know, like he's still a really, really solid pick.
- 19:39And it's like you said, this guy's the limit.
- 19:41The second he gets power play 1, he jumps up two rounds worth of
- 19:43value. So taking him for that high
- 19:46floor and unreal ceiling is a definitely a great signature
- 19:49pick. And and just to add right on to
- 19:52it before Jackie like gives his take is like I just spoke about
- 19:55maybe drafting him in the fourth or fifth run in your home league
- 19:58of record, but in your drafts, you're not going to have to
- 20:00draft. That high, like he's going to be
- 20:02a player that goes probably a few rounds later than that, like
- 20:04round seven, round 8, because you don't probably don't play
- 20:07with short handed leagues, strand points in your leagues.
- 20:09And I think just think he's a screaming value at that point
- 20:11because he's the type of guy that's going to get your points
- 20:13every week. Yeah, absolutely.
- 20:15It's it's just a simple case of nowhere to go from up and then
- 20:19up. Like it's he's he's on an
- 20:21amazing offence, which I'm obviously higher on now,
- 20:24especially since the Barkov injury.
- 20:26I think that there's little doubt they're gonna finish top
- 20:28three this year. And if anything, I actually
- 20:31kinda like that Bjorkstrand on power player one right now,
- 20:35because I don't necessarily think that's going to stay.
- 20:38And it gives you a better opportunity at a discount on a
- 20:41Hagel in your drafts, right. It's like, it's not that his
- 20:47value is contingent on the power play, it's just a bonus.
- 20:49And I know you said that you think it's gonna go down his
- 20:55points from last. Year, he was so good last year.
- 20:57It's hard to do that. Yeah, not on PP1.
- 20:59Even if he hits 80 though, it's an awesome pick at cost and I
- 21:03think like you said, most people are not going to be reaching on
- 21:08him like this to be done at that powerfully.
- 21:09I think 95 to 100 points, totally realistic he's playing
- 21:13with these. Guys hit 90 last season.
- 21:15Yeah, exactly. And and, you know, like the, the
- 21:18concept of having someone like on the power play just because
- 21:21of like the way that, you know, they're, they're, they're side
- 21:25versions are right, if I'm not mistaken.
- 21:26Whereas Hagel's a lefty. That's not something that is
- 21:30gonna necessarily be sustainable all year if Hagel is just that
- 21:33much better, which I think he will be.
- 21:34So you never know how that's gonna shake out.
- 21:37I would definitely be happy to pick him at cost or even around
- 21:41reach. And I think you could get him
- 21:43closer to cost than maybe the other two, as we mentioned,
- 21:46because of his ambiguity for Power Play 1.
- 21:49So I love it. It's a great, great choice.
- 21:52All right, we dive into the defence.
- 21:54Yes, we should do it. Did we say that?
- 21:57We that we're choosing one forward, 1 defenseman, 1 goalie
- 22:02We. Didn't the now?
- 22:03Now they know, Yeah, All right. My defensive in pick for my
- 22:09signature pick is Jake Sanderson of the Ottawa Senators.
- 22:14Last year he put up .71 points per game, .38 power play points,
- 22:192.4 shots and two blocks. He is just, I think, such an
- 22:23unreal defenseman in real life and in fantasy and such a clear
- 22:28got candidate to take a step up this year.
- 22:31We're all high on Ottawa as a team.
- 22:32We just think that so many of those players are going to take
- 22:35a step up and he's going to be the central piece of the offence
- 22:39from the back end. Last year already he put up .38
- 22:42power play points. That's pretty much, you know,
- 22:45Mccart puts up while like .4 something .45 that's like that's
- 22:49close to my car level power play points per game.
- 22:51Obviously the points is where it was lower, but that's what
- 22:54happens when the team as a whole wasn't as good as Colorado as a
- 22:56whole. But this year they take a step
- 22:58up. I see him his points being could
- 23:00be point 8.9 points per game. His power play points, if they
- 23:03stay the same, that's still amazing.
- 23:04And then 2.5 shots, 2.5 blocks is not out of the question and
- 23:08that's a really solid back cuts. Especially like if a guy doesn't
- 23:10hit, having the shots in blocks really makes up for it, along
- 23:13with the points obviously. So it's just a clear case of him
- 23:16being the guy and the entire team taking a step up.
- 23:19I'm super high on Sanderson, would love to get him in every
- 23:21single one of my drafts. This was a Josh beat me to it.
- 23:29He he's great. He's such a good choice to have
- 23:33on your team this year. We all believe in Ottawa being a
- 23:35really, really good force and he's definitely going to be
- 23:38their power play with one guy. And you know, I mean young
- 23:41defensemen, they're known to be late bloomers just in general,
- 23:45right And the fact that he's been able to produce at such a
- 23:48high level, being so young, I wouldn't be surprised if he hit
- 23:5170 plus this year. It's going to be a really
- 23:54exciting team to watch and I think this is just a fantastic
- 23:58choice for your has been. Yeah, I was going to say I I
- 24:02went in our show Doc to put in a name for my defenseman and I
- 24:07wanted to put Jake Sanderson in there, but Josh had already done
- 24:10it. So clearly I think we're all
- 24:12super high on him. But if you look at his stats of
- 24:16last year, .38 power play points and .71 just points per game
- 24:22that you, you kind of look at them like over half of his
- 24:25points were on the power play. When I look at that, I say like
- 24:29it just screams to me that his five five production is going to
- 24:31go up this season. And if he if he if the power
- 24:34play stays what it was last season, and obviously I feel
- 24:36like they're due for maybe even more positive regression.
- 24:40He can hit close to a point per game and he can be realistically
- 24:44one of those names that's hovers around top five defensemen for
- 24:47fantasy next year. He has the shots, he has the
- 24:49blocks, he has the deployment, he has the talent.
- 24:52I think just this season we're gonna see centres in boom.
- 24:55And you want them on your fantasy teams for that.
- 24:58Yeah, I think I, I don't think he's going to be Macar Quinn
- 25:02Hughes this year, but I think he could be like by this time next
- 25:05year, we're talking about him in the Bouchard Werenski
- 25:07conversation overall. Yeah, absolutely.
- 25:09That's where I see him ending up, so realistically there's no
- 25:13reason to to not reach on him and all league formats.
- 25:17He's gonna be a force. I think his ADP is also lower
- 25:20than a lot of guys would expect. Those guys like had been Yoshi
- 25:23still going ahead of him at this point in your drafts?
- 25:26I think I'm taking standards over those guys.
- 25:29I agree. Yes, totally.
- 25:32We'll see if you actually get them.
- 25:35We all want him so. We all want.
- 25:39You would have to take him to the third.
- 25:43How many third round picks is this guy getting?
- 25:48Yeah, but yeah, it's an awesome, it's an awesome choice.
- 25:52So I'm gonna. Yeah.
- 25:53Would you rather have Natures or Sanderson on your team?
- 25:55Natures. OK, alright.
- 25:57Dodger, safer. You could get it with the 3rd or
- 25:594th. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:01If you grab them before my fourth round, OK, probably
- 26:04that's unrealistic. I would consider starting to
- 26:06take him in the 5th. I don't know if this really know
- 26:09if I would. I feel like that's even still a
- 26:10bit high, but I think that's kind of the value he's gonna
- 26:13return on. You wanna pick players who are
- 26:15going to exceed that value. But right now he's going where
- 26:18in like the more like the 6th or 7th.
- 26:20So like, yeah, I think even if you start taking them in your
- 26:234th rounder, like people will call you crazy in the group chat
- 26:26and that's those are the best kind of picks because.
- 26:29I just, I do wanna like caution the listeners and ourselves as
- 26:33well that like you don't wanna be reaching on these guys,
- 26:35right? Like, like it's just true.
- 26:36It's just trying to the Miller was down.
- 26:39So we don't know. Look, if you guys reach on on
- 26:43the guys that I'm saying you're gonna get all of them.
- 26:44But I mean, I'm super happy to take the guys at ADP and maybe
- 26:48like around earlier than ADP, but I'm not gonna jump up two
- 26:51rounds just because I really like a guy because then best
- 26:53case scenario, he's breaking even on value.
- 26:55But no, I love Sanderson where like if I can get him where I
- 26:58think he should be going or a little a little higher than I
- 27:00will be definitely grabbing. Him it also just depends on your
- 27:03league and your league settings and if there's a run on
- 27:05defensemen or something. Like if if 10 defensemen go
- 27:07between round one and round 4 then like taking him in the 5th
- 27:11is a no brainer. That point, even if it's he is 6
- 27:14or 7, you know 100%. 70 have to see the flow of the draft.
- 27:17But what's cool about him is that his blogs are there.
- 27:19That's like, that's really, really nice.
- 27:21So it's not like you're picking him and you're kind of like in a
- 27:23position where you're down a defenseman who's sick with
- 27:26points, but bout of backcast, like you could build a lot of
- 27:28foundational greatness on your team still taking him.
- 27:30That's what's really, really nice.
- 27:32But yeah, listen, we'll see how it checks out.
- 27:35You're right, you don't. You only want to reach on
- 27:37players like if you have to. But I do think that he's the
- 27:40type of guy you can also probably get a cost and be
- 27:42elated with the ROI. Let's move on to mine.
- 27:48So this guy I wasn't that high on earlier on this summer, but
- 27:55you know, after using my burner account to write to the bank.
- 28:00I do it. Take it takes off Hood.
- 28:04Whoa. But yeah, so I realize I'm
- 28:08actually very, very high on him. So this is Michael Sergachev of
- 28:11the Utah Mammoth. Yeah, he he's really just kind
- 28:18of gonna be their top defenseman, bar none.
- 28:22And the more I hear you guys talk about how high you are on
- 28:25them, the more convinced I'm that he's gonna be great and the
- 28:29team is gonna be great. So it's just gonna positively
- 28:31correlate and you're gonna be super happy taking them.
- 28:33Jersey has had some good stints in his career, but barring
- 28:36injury, there's no way that this former Jonathan Drouin trade
- 28:40bait is not going to be their top defence.
- 28:44Yeah, literally. Such a bad trade anyway.
- 28:49Yeah. And and you know, another thing
- 28:52that we haven't mentioned, but like you'll tell me if you guys
- 28:54agree on this is I think it's a very, very good sign for how a
- 28:58team is going to perform where we keep asking ourselves who's
- 29:03gonna be on that power play 1, You know, but he's not one of
- 29:07those guys that's in question. He's a staple there.
- 29:09But you know, you have like you have Peterka Cooley hate and
- 29:13Gunther schmaltz Keller like this is like a sick team with a
- 29:17lot of potential for offensive output.
- 29:19And I there's no doubt in my mind that with Sergachev there,
- 29:24whichever one of the revolving door players that he's gonna
- 29:26play with on that power play, there's going to be production.
- 29:28So are you guys finally coming to my dark side in terms of my
- 29:32Utah ranking earlier? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm there.
- 29:35Yeah. I don't know if I'm there but.
- 29:37Yeah, OK, maybe, no, you're a little bit high on them, but
- 29:40like I'm definitely. Higher.
- 29:41I literally put them at 5th which is like the most
- 29:43conservative high on a team. Ever.
- 29:45Yeah, I put them at six, but I I can see 5th or 4th honestly.
- 29:50But like they're, they're good team.
- 29:52Yeah, exactly. So so that's why I'm super high
- 29:55on him. And to this point in his career,
- 29:56it feels like he's kind of been a weird medium.
- 29:58Sergachev very good point scoring defenseman to solid yet
- 30:01not elite bangers guy. There was that one amazing year
- 30:04where he had 64 points and 79 games with Tampa two years ago,
- 30:08but this is the year I think he could beat 70 points and his
- 30:111.71 shots on goal, 1.82 blocks from last year.
- 30:15You know, if he gets those numbers up to closer to two,
- 30:17you're very happy with that on your team.
- 30:19In our league, he's projected to go 97th overall, which is
- 30:23between my seven and eighth round pick.
- 30:25But I think he could drop lower than that because he's not a
- 30:27super exciting player. This is one of those guys I'm
- 30:30not necessarily reaching on, but I think I could get them at cost
- 30:33and be very happy with what he does for my team.
- 30:36And yeah, he's not really somebody that I was thinking
- 30:40about coming into it. But the more I heard you guys
- 30:42talk about it and the more I'm just like, you know what?
- 30:44This is a guy that's super poised for success and I'm
- 30:47really excited to see where it goes.
- 30:49I love Circuit, I love Utah in general this year and I think
- 30:53that this is a great pick. Actually, the IT was between him
- 30:55and Sanderson when I was trying to come up with my signature and
- 30:58the reason I leaned Sanderson was was the playoff schedule.
- 31:01But yeah, no, he Circuit was gonna be amazing.
- 31:03Utah is going to be amazing. I'm super high on them.
- 31:06It's like you said, I really like the way you put it with the
- 31:08there's so many good players on that team that we can't nail
- 31:10down a power play one. There's some teams where there's
- 31:12only 5 good players. So it's like, OK, here's the
- 31:13power play on easy. But in this case, there's so
- 31:16many good players, but Circuit chip is not one of the ones in
- 31:18question. Exactly, Jiggy said.
- 31:19So he's going to be awesome. It's like you said also with the
- 31:21back, it's like he's not there just yet, but he's super close.
- 31:24Like the second I see a two and two in shots and blocks,
- 31:26especially for a defence that doesn't hit and put that with
- 31:29the points. That's a guy I'm super excited
- 31:30about having on my team. So the year that he did super
- 31:34well two years ago on Tampa was the year where he started taking
- 31:37power play one time from Hedman, right?
- 31:38So it makes sense why he never really broke out before that.
- 31:40He was always the second defenseman in line for that
- 31:43power play one spot. So now that he's the clear guy
- 31:45and last year he had some injury issues, but he was showing
- 31:47flashes of it. So this is going to be a big
- 31:49year for Circuit Chef. Yeah, I mean, you guys touched
- 31:52on basically everything already. But I mean, Sergachev, I feel
- 31:55like if I'm looking in my drafts from the few that I've already
- 31:58done, there's a teardrop after where he goes in drafts to the
- 32:01defenseman that are after him. I feel like he's on the cusp of
- 32:04like, you know, PP1 defence that you really want on your team and
- 32:07then at your job where after him is like a bunch of guys that,
- 32:10you know, are still P1, are still good, but have different,
- 32:13different questions that makes their value, you know,
- 32:15suppressed in terms of a draft on draft day.
- 32:18But Sergachev, I think he I think he can realistically were
- 32:21around 30 power play points this season.
- 32:23If you play the full season, he could get 4045 on five points,
- 32:2830 power play points and drop 70 points this season.
- 32:31And that would not be crazy. That's definitely in the range
- 32:33of outcomes with how much talent is on this Utah team and and
- 32:36when they consolidate on that power play.
- 32:38So I'm very excited for him. I would love for him to be my my
- 32:41second defenseman in my fantasy league.
- 32:43I'd be thrilled. Yeah, I mean, last year Utah
- 32:46finished 10th in the league in power play and I only think they
- 32:48got better since last year. So he's gonna be the guy on
- 32:51there. I don't think that's out of the
- 32:52question at all. Yeah, cool.
- 32:55Glad you guys like it. Alright, then who is your
- 32:59defenseman? This one actually, I think is
- 33:01surprising. Yeah, so I was looking at who I
- 33:04didn't want to pick a guy that was too high on draft boards
- 33:07because they're like obviously good.
- 33:10And I didn't want to go too deep because then obviously a lot of
- 33:12guys have questions and I don't want to stake my reputation on
- 33:15the guy that I don't truly believe in.
- 33:17So I chose a guy that I am notorious for not liking.
- 33:21But this year I feel like he is going later than you would
- 33:24expect in your drafts, and that's why I think he's a great
- 33:27value. And that player is Adam Fox of
- 33:30the New York Rangers. What does and Fox say?
- 33:33I would try to make that noise, but I'm not going to.
- 33:35I've already did. We don't want to burn the
- 33:39eardrums of our listeners. But but last season Adam Fox had
- 33:450.82 points per game, 0.24 power play points per game.
- 33:49His shots are in the blocks are definitely left to be desired
- 33:53compared to the guys that you mentioned, he's only 1.8 shots,
- 33:561.5 blocks. But I think what we need to
- 33:59remember with Fox is even if it's category coverage is not
- 34:03completely there, he plays on what should be a top five power
- 34:08play, let's say on one of the teams that has so much talent
- 34:11that they're also going to consolidate on that, on that
- 34:13power play. And this Rangers team.
- 34:15Like listen, he dropped .82 points per game last season on a
- 34:18Rangers team that everybody went under their projections last
- 34:21season and completely underperformed.
- 34:24I think this season we're all high on the Rangers.
- 34:27They're all draft day values. I think getting the people on
- 34:31defence been for a Tina's ready to blow up and contend for the
- 34:33Presidents Trophy again is almost a no brainer.
- 34:36And he's going later in drafts than he was because of how they
- 34:39performed last year. So I think he could get 0.4
- 34:42power play points per game. Hover around the point per game
- 34:45and you're getting that in round six.
- 34:47Round 7 he's going around Jake Sanderson in your drafts.
- 34:51If you take him one round the head of ADP, I think you'll be
- 34:53thrilled. I would be content with him
- 34:55being my P1 defenseman on my fantasy team.
- 34:58Yeah, You know, I'm looking at it.
- 35:00I, I didn't realize this, but I'm looking at his last four.
- 35:03In five years he's been illegal. Elite.
- 35:07Yeah. Like really Really.
- 35:08Amazing he wasn't the Vezina trophy.
- 35:12That's how a lady was. Yeah, but he he did win the
- 35:18Norris. What was it 2 Two years ago 3.
- 35:21But like 3 to 4 at this point. Yeah, so listen, he is easily
- 35:27candidate to be a point per game defenseman, which is super
- 35:29exciting. It's quite annoying that he
- 35:32doesn't have the bad categories. It's definitely worth mentioning
- 35:36and I'm glad you did. But he's gonna go with the
- 35:40Rangers. Like as far as how they're going
- 35:43to positively perform, the series is going to be a staple
- 35:45on that team. There are another one where
- 35:47who's going to be the power play 1.
- 35:49Yet he's not in question. Fox is gonna.
- 35:52He's easily the best, like more so than Sergachev to Dorsey.
- 35:56Fox is way better than anyone else there.
- 35:59Yeah. And yeah, he's just proven
- 36:01himself all ready to be an elite point scoring defenseman.
- 36:03Wasn't bad last year, as you mentioned.
- 36:05And I think that point per game sealing is easily a possibility
- 36:08for this year. Yeah, I mean, actually I was
- 36:11surprised when I saw that he put up .82 points last year with how
- 36:16bad the Rangers were, how bad their power play was.
- 36:18The fact that he still put that up means that with how much
- 36:20we're all expecting them to bounce back, it's a no brainer
- 36:23that he's a point per game guy, like .82 on such a bad team and
- 36:26with a guy with that skill and with a power play with that
- 36:28skill. So yeah, you're taking this guy,
- 36:30he's a point, point plus per game.
- 36:31He's going to have let's say .3 plus power play points per game
- 36:34and then like no backup. So that's obviously the big the
- 36:37big downer with him. But the fact is, like you said,
- 36:41dropping in drafts because of his poor year last year.
- 36:45And if you can get him, you know, a couple of rounds after
- 36:48like taking a, you know, Quinn Hughes gets taken early second
- 36:51round, late first round. You got an Adam Fox like 6 round
- 36:555, round 6, something like that. They could put up similar point
- 36:58totals. Hughes gets like one extra shot
- 37:00in a game on Fox, but it's not like he's a big back cat beast
- 37:04either or anything like that. So that's a really good value
- 37:07for cost. So I like Fox a lot, and
- 37:08obviously they have the crazy playoff schedule of A444IN weeks
- 37:1221 to 23, so that's a nice cherry on.
- 37:14Top and what I also wanted to mention for Fox is you know, we
- 37:18talked about the Rangers power play being it was a bottom 5
- 37:21power play last season, a bottom 5 power play and he still put up
- 37:25.24 power play points. What that tells me is that when
- 37:28they do score power play points, the defensemen on this power
- 37:30play is involved because of the way they shoot, the way they're
- 37:33passing the puck. So if we expect them to be a top
- 37:36five power play, we've seen it before.
- 37:38Yes, there's different players on there now, but it's still top
- 37:41quality and the main, the main money makers are still there.
- 37:44Like you still got Panera and you still have, I mean, JT is
- 37:48obviously like a huge addition to this power play as well.
- 37:51I I think he can easily get .4 power play points, .4 point .45
- 37:56and that just like the floor just remains so high for his
- 37:59point totals and I think he's great, yeah.
- 38:03Nice big and definitely not your classic type of pic is usually
- 38:06you. You love those back cats.
- 38:08So so like. Yeah, category coverage type of
- 38:11guy, but I I would really try to find the mix of value for cost.
- 38:15So yeah, now it's great. Alright, let's dive into the
- 38:18goalies. My goalie pick for my signature
- 38:22pick is Corel Velka of the Utah. Last year he had 26 wins, 2.58
- 38:28goals against average .904 save percentage, 1 shutout and around
- 38:3223 1/2 saves per game. He is my top 0G target this
- 38:38year. I think Utah is going to be so
- 38:40good. He's going to get the Lion share
- 38:42that starts. It's him and Banachek.
- 38:43Now that Ingram got waived. Sanchez is not going to get many
- 38:45starts other than back to backs. The coach in the past has played
- 38:48Velka even on back-to-back. So funny.
- 38:50Chick gets injured. I expect from Mecca to play 100%
- 38:53of the games. I think he's going to be great
- 38:55on such a great team. I think he gets underrated
- 38:58because you know, Utah still has that that Arizona Coyote stink
- 39:01on them. So they haven't taken that that
- 39:04step forward. So I think they're still maybe
- 39:06viewed in the bottom half of teams in the league when I think
- 39:08they could be closer to middle slash fighting for a playoff
- 39:11spot. And when you have a volume guy
- 39:13on an exciting team like that, then I really like where you can
- 39:16grab him in the draft. Yeah, for all the reasons I was
- 39:20talking about with Sergachev. I I totally agree with the
- 39:23Milka. That's the truth.
- 39:25And he's he's a good, he's a really good goalie actually in
- 39:28his own right. I, I think he was underloved
- 39:30because people watching when they used to play in Arizona
- 39:34with those horrible camera angles in the arena, he, he
- 39:38looked like, he did not look like he had an NHL goalie
- 39:41because the whole team, it looked like a joke with the 2000
- 39:44fans there. But it's part of it.
- 39:47It's true. And now Utahs shaping up to be a
- 39:50real serious team. One thing we haven't mentioned
- 39:53broadly is when a team is in contention for the playoffs,
- 39:58that's the best. Those are the best fantasy
- 40:01assets to own. It's not an elite playoff
- 40:04schedule. You're right, with two games in
- 40:05the Week 23 Finals, that's a bit of a bummer, but the fact that
- 40:09you have a team that's not going to be a shoe in for the
- 40:12playoffs, they're not resting. This guy, he's a an absolute
- 40:16machine. He's handled back to backs in
- 40:18the past and I have little doubt that he's going to get all of
- 40:20those playoff week games and he's just really, really good.
- 40:25And finally he's gonna have the best team in front of him that
- 40:28he's had in his career. So I've grown higher on Utah
- 40:32throughout the year for all the reasons I already mentioned, and
- 40:35he's probably the one who's going to benefit from it the
- 40:37most. Yeah.
- 40:39I mean, like Josh said, I think he's definitely one of my 0G
- 40:42targets later in drafts. We're going to have to be
- 40:44finally stop. Copying me.
- 40:47The, the, the, but I do like to pick that I that I put in that
- 40:52I'll talk about later a little bit more even though I guess
- 40:55more expensive. But I really do like the Malka.
- 40:58I think he's a tremendous goalie.
- 41:00He was on my team's last year. They had to ride him like no one
- 41:05has ever wrote everybody anybody before because because they they
- 41:11literally had no other goalies. He was playing every game, even
- 41:14the back to backs and the coach spoke so highly of him.
- 41:17Now, even when people were concerned about, you know,
- 41:20Ingram coming back from the player assistance program and
- 41:22taking starts away from Velka, I did not waver in how high I
- 41:26thought of America in my fantasy draft and then let it like, you
- 41:29know, few weeks later, Ingram gets waved and he's no longer on
- 41:32the Utah team. But Vermont has no competition
- 41:35for starts right? Right now.
- 41:36I think the only thing is his ceiling is probably a little
- 41:39capped with save percentage and goals against average, but
- 41:44you're still getting this like really high quality later in
- 41:47your drafts. I think it's a no brainer.
- 41:49Yeah, absolutely. It's it's a really, really great
- 41:51choice. And he he's not someone who
- 41:53comes to mind really when I think 0G.
- 41:56I don't really know why, but the more I think about it, the more
- 41:59he's probably at least Top Model in my top three for that guy.
- 42:05Not necessarily gonna gonna say like you should worry about
- 42:08taking him as much as Sanderson. Sanderson, Sanderson I love, but
- 42:14the Malka I like a lot. And I think whoever has him this
- 42:17year is gonna be super happy with the return.
- 42:19He could probably end the season top 10 Wrangler.
- 42:22I wouldn't be surprised. So just.
- 42:24Because I'm a little surprised by top 10.
- 42:26But you know what it is? It's of the 0G guys.
- 42:29I think he's the best actual goalie.
- 42:31Of course, goalies are super dependent on their teams
- 42:33production, but he's a really, really great goaltender.
- 42:37And he's the type of guy that if he went to a Dallas, I mean,
- 42:41maybe a bit better, but he's like that good.
- 42:45I think he's just never had the team.
- 42:47So finally having a really good team in front of him, it's going
- 42:50to be amazing to see. Let's move on.
- 42:53Lucas Dostal of the Anaheim Ducks, my man, I think he's
- 42:58going to be great this year. I was going to go back and
- 43:00forth, like I couldn't really decide between him and Montalbo.
- 43:03But when it comes down to it, I think most drafters are going to
- 43:06pick Montebello a few rounds higher than the style.
- 43:09And I think that they could end up ranked kind of neck and neck.
- 43:12And that's just not because we're Habs fans.
- 43:14I think that objectively, Montana is just more of more
- 43:18hype around him than the style, probably mainly because the Cubs
- 43:22made the playoffs last year, Anaheim didn't.
- 43:24But I'm very high on Anaheim. And yeah, it wanted was ranked
- 43:28124 to stall 169. And I think that they're gonna
- 43:31be very, very close. It's a much bigger discrepancy
- 43:34than I was expecting. And it doesn't matter where
- 43:36you're considering it because most of your, I know we don't
- 43:40really put too much talk into ADP, but a lot of your league
- 43:42mates for all the listeners out there will.
- 43:45So if you could grab the style later, that's really, really
- 43:48good. I'm very comfortable with him
- 43:50being MY0G guy this year. It's riskier than the Malka, I
- 43:55will say, but I think that the return could be there.
- 43:58And I'm just, yeah, I'm very high on the Ducks.
- 44:00I firmly believe that they're gonna be in the running.
- 44:02And for the same reason that I just mentioned to Josh, where I
- 44:05find that they're gonna try to play their guys.
- 44:09Like you want players on teams that are in contention yet not a
- 44:13shoe in for the playoffs. I think that that's kind of why
- 44:16I'm really high on him. A 334 playoff schedule.
- 44:19So they got 10 games in that span.
- 44:21I think he's going to get nine of them.
- 44:23And it's exactly, exactly what you need to try to put yourself
- 44:26over the edge and when your league playoffs.
- 44:29Yeah, I I love those Talisa 0G guy in terms of him versus
- 44:33Amalka, I think Dostall take goes around or two later.
- 44:36So that means that you can get even more value out of him for,
- 44:39you know, where you're picking him in the draft.
- 44:41I think I view them very similarly as volume guys on
- 44:45teams that are gonna take a big step up this year.
- 44:47And I'm pretty, I'm pretty. I also, like I said, I also have
- 44:50him as one of my 0 targets. So another one of those guys
- 44:53will see who he ends up with. But but yeah, I see Anaheim
- 44:57fighting for a playoff spot. I don't think they're gonna get
- 44:59one. But again, we've talked about
- 45:00this a lot them as kind of similar in the Habs trajectory,
- 45:03but one year off. But look at how well Montalbo
- 45:05did last year, right? So that could be a this could be
- 45:08just those big year, especially with Gibson being shipped out in
- 45:10the offseason. So I I love this pic.
- 45:13Yeah, Yep. Should I get into my pick?
- 45:18Yeah, sure. Go over.
- 45:22So my pick for my goal is significant.
- 45:25Pick what we consider. Significant.
- 45:31This is a significant signature pack, everybody.
- 45:34Yeah, it is. And there is none other than the
- 45:37goalie for the Vegas Golden Knights, Aiden Hill.
- 45:41Now, I feel like this is potentially the least flashy
- 45:45goalie pick you can make. I feel like nobody wants Aiden
- 45:47Hill on their roster except me. But I would be thrilled to have
- 45:50him as my 1G in my fantasy leagues.
- 45:53And the main reason for that is, you know, you're getting a
- 45:56goalie on a team that could win the President's Trophy that we
- 45:59expect is going to be in the running for the Stanley Cup this
- 46:01season. They just paid this guy.
- 46:04And he has, I mean, sorry, Jackie, but he's got no
- 46:08competition behind them. Akira Schmid is not going to
- 46:10take starts away from from Aiden.
- 46:12Wrong. Kira, Kira.
- 46:18Akira's gone, baby. But Aiden Hill I think
- 46:21realistically could get mid 30s and wins this season if if you
- 46:25know, Vegas is the juggernaut that we think they are.
- 46:28His save percentage and his goals against average are not
- 46:30going to be anything crazy. Like he's not gonna get you like
- 46:32a 9.915 or anything like that, but he can hover around a .910
- 46:37or a .907 and just the wins or what you're getting the wins and
- 46:41the starts. He will get 55 starts minimum
- 46:43this season. He'll get 30 plus wins and
- 46:46you're drafting this guy. He's he's probably like between
- 46:50the around the 15th goalie off the board and in a lot of
- 46:52leagues he can realistically finish goalie #7 or 8 in your
- 46:56fantasy league this season. And I think that's just
- 46:58tremendous value. Josh, go first.
- 47:01OK, no, I I love this pic. I think that I think his ADP has
- 47:07him around. I think the 80s as a pick.
- 47:10So he's not a late, late round guy.
- 47:12You're not going to get him at the same spot.
- 47:13You can get him milk or Dostal, but obviously the quality of the
- 47:16team he's on is just way higher than what we're talking about.
- 47:20Literally like having said they're gonna be fighting for
- 47:22presidents trophy. They just added in 100 plus
- 47:24point player in Mariner. They're only getting better.
- 47:26All they ever do is compete at a high level and Aiden hell is
- 47:29just one of the most unexciting names that you love you when
- 47:32they're drafting. And you know what, that's
- 47:34exactly the type of guy that you wanna take because he can fall
- 47:37around her too because of how unexciting that name is.
- 47:39So I love this pic. I think he just goes a bit
- 47:42earlier than I'm willing to take my first goal in the draft
- 47:44because I like going super late. But if you're not going for like
- 47:47a crazy 0G strategy, he's a great, great pick that you're
- 47:50going to pick him after a few other goalies that are going to
- 47:52do way worse than him. So definitely a value where you
- 47:56can grab him and a curious meet. I'm sorry, Jake, it's just not a
- 47:59competition. Yes.
- 48:02So OK, so spoiler alert, I'm not actually like thinking that
- 48:05she's gonna take the stars away, but y'all are still you are
- 48:08still wrong. Yeah so so here's kind of my
- 48:12thoughts on this. I think that he's gonna screw
- 48:17your percentages a little bit for the save percentage and
- 48:20goals against average, which for A0G strategy, I don't know if
- 48:26it's like, I don't know if it's necessarily the best thing
- 48:31because like Josh said, you have to pick him a bit higher than
- 48:33the other guys. So if you're gonna pick Hill, I
- 48:36would kind of consider picking Hill in tandem with another good
- 48:39goalie on a good team. Do you know what I mean?
- 48:41It's not that I'm low on. I think I'm obviously highest on
- 48:45Vegas of all the three teams that we mentioned, way higher on
- 48:49them than the Ducks add-on Utah. And you're right.
- 48:51I mean, Kevin, if his trajectory is just to play more and more
- 48:54games, 35 two years ago, 50 last year and if he hits 55 this
- 48:57year, he got 32 wins in 50 games last year.
- 49:00That's an insanely good winning percentage.
- 49:02It's really, really top. It's just it's just that he
- 49:05himself is like not that great, which is fine because for
- 49:11fantasy, like I think the Milk is a much better goalie.
- 49:14Yet I can see Hill being ranked higher, right?
- 49:16Yeah, you're also picking Hill higher.
- 49:18So that's fine. But if you pair pair Hill with a
- 49:22Skinner, you're kind of like, you know, you're punt and save
- 49:26percentage, but you're gonna get the saves, you're get the wins
- 49:28and you'll be very happy. And these are guys that you
- 49:30could both, but in like the mid to later rounds, I guess
- 49:33Skinners maybe going a bit later than Hill.
- 49:36Yeah, I think that's a great pair.
- 49:37I like how you're talking about it.
- 49:39I mean, this is going a bit a bit away from the the guy
- 49:42himself and more into general golly drafting strategy.
- 49:45But yeah, like targeting the same like you're either I like,
- 49:48unless you're picking goalies like really early, I like either
- 49:50going for quality or quantity. If you're trying to take one of
- 49:53each, you're just gonna end up screwed on both fronts.
- 49:55So yeah, that's a great pair up that you're mentioning and
- 49:58definitely a good point. I will say one thing that may be
- 50:01a concern. I don't know if either of you
- 50:02are concerned about this. I see that Carter Hart might be
- 50:05linked to Vegas. Is that any concern to you,
- 50:07Kevin? I mean, listen, I think I still
- 50:10think Aiden Hill is the guy, but I would be more concerned if
- 50:13Carter Hart signs there. Maybe he doesn't get 55 starts,
- 50:16he gets 50 starts, you know what I mean?
- 50:18That's kind of like how I view this situation.
- 50:21I don't think they're signing card is after what just happened
- 50:24and he's coming in and being the one where they just paid Aiden
- 50:28Hill to be the guy. You know what I mean?
- 50:30Like you just got a six year contract.
- 50:31They're not going to sign a guy off the street and split 5050.
- 50:35There's just no way that happens.
- 50:37Yeah, he he's been like a very serviceable goalie for them when
- 50:42it counted last playoffs were were met, but when you were on
- 50:45the Stanley Cup, he was a beast and even two years ago was a
- 50:47931. Like this team wants to compete.
- 50:50They're great team and for the most part I think he's gonna be
- 50:53a very reliable goal to get you these wins and look for.
- 50:58What they know, they know he can win.
- 50:59They know he's done it before. They want him to be the guy.
- 51:03He is the guy. It's just about, you know, I
- 51:07think when we're talking about goalies, like I'm more confident
- 51:10in Eden Hill having more wins, probably more more save will be
- 51:14closed, but like more a better save percentage and more goals,
- 51:18better goals against average and the two guys you guys mentioned.
- 51:20But it's just the cost. That's the big question, right?
- 51:22It's like, where are you drafting these guys?
- 51:24If you're drafting Eden Hill and 10th around then you're drafting
- 51:26dust style over Melka and around 1516, like what's the
- 51:29opportunity cost there? So it definitely comes into
- 51:32roster construction and how you're willing to when you're
- 51:34willing to take certain guys. I just think that you can get
- 51:37elite production out of Indian Hill where a guy that's going to
- 51:40be a mid round pick, that's why. I'm yeah, yeah.
- 51:44And that's like a great, great my guy situation and you'll be
- 51:48happy with them like. You mean significant signature
- 51:50pick? Yeah.
- 51:53This this name. Signature Picks TM, the name
- 51:58that we definitely didn't come up with the right before
