- 0:00Speaker 1: I didn't make this terrible model my dad did. Why
- 0:04Speaker 1: can't you guys let us do things for ourselves. In
- 0:06Speaker 1: the words of Oscar Wild, experience is simply the name
- 0:10Speaker 1: we give to our mistakes. I saw him too, Dad.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I gotta carry it away from now on.
- 0:16Speaker 2: The Only thing I'll ever do for you is coad syne.
- 0:19Speaker 2: If you want a gun four.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Finger Discount, dude, welcome to four Finger Discount, where this
- 0:40Speaker 3: week we're here to review father knows Worst.
- 0:43Speaker 4: I'm Dando, and I am guy who knows the worst.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Out of you. And I well, I was about to say,
- 0:47Speaker 5: you're the father? Do you know worse? I think the Godfather?
- 0:50Speaker 4: Please excuse me.
- 0:53Speaker 5: That's that was a terrible brand. Now let me try
- 0:56Speaker 5: that again. Then though, when they can bud guess.
- 0:59Speaker 4: The Bible hit the difference between that one and the
- 1:02Speaker 4: one you just did.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Are you kidding? The second one was like fifteen percent better.
- 1:07Speaker 5: But you're the father here, and look, based on the
- 1:10Speaker 5: children that I've seen you raise so far, the ones
- 1:13Speaker 5: you acknowledge, I.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Thought you were implying father of fourthing a discount. My
- 1:16Speaker 4: I'm actually a father. I may I understand you now,
- 1:18Speaker 4: I'm on the same wavelength. Sorry, sir, oh okay, Well
- 1:21Speaker 4: you've birthed so many things. Well, actually you have, you
- 1:24Speaker 4: haven't birthed them.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Yes, you had like ten seconds of effort, and then
- 1:30Speaker 5: there was like nine minutes of come on again again.
- 1:33Speaker 5: I overestimate. But you are a father of many things.
- 1:37Speaker 5: You're a father of a podcast network. You're a father
- 1:39Speaker 5: of two lovely children. You're a father of three rambunctious cats.
- 1:43Speaker 5: You never know worse, everything's running smoothly. I mean I
- 1:46Speaker 5: came into the fourth Finger Discount Studios today. Dat know
- 1:49Speaker 5: it's looking neat in here or a change? What's going on? So, yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 5: you've clearly got your life together. You're clearly the patter familias.
- 1:59Speaker 5: What's your secret.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Having guests come over to the house and go we
- 2:03Speaker 4: need to clean up now?
- 2:04Speaker 5: This is why I don't have guests at the house anymore.
- 2:06Speaker 5: Lou said to me, the is a bit at your place.
- 2:09Speaker 5: I said, I know this.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Strategically planned to be this way.
- 2:13Speaker 5: What's your point.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I actually have a house, been living in a box.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I saw that to pay for the box.
- 2:23Speaker 5: Please move your cube, so father knows worst.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I really liked this, I said, I always watched them twice.
- 2:31Speaker 4: First time I watched it in bed, I was tired
- 2:33Speaker 4: and I fell asleep halfway through. I was like, whenever,
- 2:35Speaker 4: this is stupid.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Second time I.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Watched it, and I watched it more of a father mindset.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I thought Homer for the most part in this one
- 2:42Speaker 4: was genuinely trying to make an effort to improve button
- 2:45Speaker 4: Lisa's lives and not really for any personal gain. Was
- 2:49Speaker 4: it was, if anything, maybe the embarrassment of having kids
- 2:51Speaker 4: who weren't succeeding, but it was. It's not like he
- 2:54Speaker 4: was getting anything really out of them. Winning the award,
- 2:57Speaker 4: Like the thousand dollars wasn't going to him, it was
- 2:59Speaker 4: going to Bart's college.
- 3:00Speaker 5: No, No, but it does feed his ego in some way.
- 3:02Speaker 5: As he said, he says, ah, my son's a loser
- 3:04Speaker 5: and my daughter's a loner. I'm not a parent. Of course,
- 3:07Speaker 5: you want what's best for your kids. But at the
- 3:08Speaker 5: same time, do you ever feel like your kid's accomplishments,
- 3:12Speaker 5: all their personalities or anything they do sort of reflects
- 3:15Speaker 5: on you.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Yeah, all the time. And I and I.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Don't necessarily mean that, and they're like, yeah, in a
- 3:22Speaker 5: personal sort of ego kind of way.
- 3:24Speaker 4: No, you can't help, but just say, like, if your
- 3:26Speaker 4: kid's misbehaving at the restaurant, you can't help but feel like, oh,
- 3:29Speaker 4: it's reflecting on your parenting.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Yeah. How many times have you know, we've been in
- 3:32Speaker 5: the supermarket or as you say, in a restaurant, any
- 3:34Speaker 5: public place where a kid is acting up and you
- 3:39Speaker 5: you know better, of course you do, in your heart
- 3:41Speaker 5: of heart, in your mind of mind, you go, look,
- 3:43Speaker 5: it's not the mum's fault that you know. This kid
- 3:45Speaker 5: is clearly having a bad day or has issues of
- 3:47Speaker 5: some kind or whatever. I can't blame the parents, but
- 3:49Speaker 5: you know, for a split second you're going to go,
- 3:52Speaker 5: didn't raise that kid?
- 3:53Speaker 1: Right?
- 3:53Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 3:54Speaker 4: And I think before I was a parent, I was
- 3:56Speaker 4: more of the mentality, especially on a plane, right and
- 3:58Speaker 4: the kids crying, I'd go, shut your kid up, will you.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I now have the mindset of I know how you feel.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Sometimes I don't mind if the parent is trying. If
- 4:07Speaker 4: the parent is trying to control the kid and the
- 4:10Speaker 4: kid is just not cooperating, I feel sorry for the
- 4:12Speaker 4: parent now where I never used to. I just go
- 4:14Speaker 4: just shut the kid up, will you? If the parent
- 4:17Speaker 4: is still making no effort That's when I get annoyed,
- 4:19Speaker 4: because I know I've been in the situation. I go,
- 4:22Speaker 4: if you just try, if you're just trying, then I
- 4:27Speaker 4: forgive you. But if you do not even try, and
- 4:28Speaker 4: I guess sometimes you just want to throw the towel
- 4:30Speaker 4: and go, I've tried. There's nothing I can do. But
- 4:32Speaker 4: when you when you're in a public space, you made
- 4:36Speaker 4: these kids. Unfortunately, I know the behavior doesn't always reflect
- 4:39Speaker 4: on how you're parenting. Some kids are just they need
- 4:41Speaker 4: extra help. They can't control, harder to control. But you've
- 4:44Speaker 4: got to try.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Oh yeah, otherwise you're pulling at James cordon You know
- 4:48Speaker 5: that story, right, Yes, we don't need to repeat it.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Look up James Corden playing parents and you realize why
- 4:57Speaker 5: people hate that. Guys never met.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Parenting tips though from Dando and go oh, but it's
- 5:00Speaker 4: why people tune in. That is why I tune in.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Yeah, and not really tuning in for the incisive pop
- 5:04Speaker 5: culture commentary anymore. It's daddy tips from Dando.
- 5:08Speaker 4: But I like this one though, because I just thought
- 5:09Speaker 4: that Homer was actually making an effort and I think
- 5:12Speaker 4: they strategically the March B plot here again similar similar
- 5:16Speaker 4: to the similar to the B plot with Lisa last week,
- 5:19Speaker 4: where it felt like it was just kind of giving
- 5:20Speaker 4: them something to do.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Right.
- 5:22Speaker 4: So, Marge's B plot here, I think was strategically done
- 5:26Speaker 4: right to a. We don't question why she isn't also
- 5:28Speaker 4: helping because she's busy doing this and she's off for
- 5:30Speaker 4: the fairies, because she's a relaxed blah blah blah. B
- 5:33Speaker 4: Homer thinks he's now the last hope because Marge isn't
- 5:35Speaker 4: going to help. And see, she can't talk home or
- 5:38Speaker 4: out of it because what he's doing might necessarily be
- 5:40Speaker 4: the best idea, and if she was focused, she might
- 5:42Speaker 4: go no, Home, No, No, don't handle it this way because
- 5:44Speaker 4: Lisa doesn't want to be one of the cool kids.
- 5:46Speaker 4: That's not what she wants. Good for you for loading
- 5:48Speaker 4: a lot of thought into that.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean the whole March B plot it will
- 5:51Speaker 5: be minus plotters, I'm calling it. Yeah, just seemed like,
- 5:53Speaker 5: what the hell is the point of this? And you're right,
- 5:55Speaker 5: it's a it's a it's a very effective sidelining technique. Yeah. Wow,
- 6:00Speaker 5: I'm going to give Robert Lezebnik a.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Little more credit than he initially had because he couldn't
- 6:05Speaker 4: have the Homer plot without Marge being distracted somewhere. That's true,
- 6:09Speaker 4: because she would chime in and give her two cents yea,
- 6:12Speaker 4: and she would. She should be helping. We'ld be sitting
- 6:14Speaker 4: there going Why is marginal helping? Why is she not
- 6:16Speaker 4: being part of this as well? Yeah, why she's not
- 6:17Speaker 4: staying home? I don't do that. So to take all
- 6:19Speaker 4: those elements out, she's often disauner.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Yeah, look, a very valid point. I agree with you
- 6:24Speaker 5: about Homer certainly acting from a place of good faith,
- 6:29Speaker 5: acting with very very good attentions. Interesting tension in the episode,
- 6:32Speaker 5: because yeah, he is, as you say, doing the right
- 6:34Speaker 5: thing and actually going about it in some pretty effective ways,
- 6:38Speaker 5: but at the same time acting even more not even idiotic,
- 6:43Speaker 5: just downright stupid than usual, and not stupid in an
- 6:46Speaker 5: aggressive way, but just like he got hit in the
- 6:50Speaker 5: head with a blunt object kind of way. You know,
- 6:52Speaker 5: there's a lot of real dumb dumbness in this.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I was more annoyed, if anything, that my main critique
- 6:59Speaker 4: was that I thought Bart's motives were incorrect, because Bart's
- 7:03Speaker 4: not an idiot. Bart is not dumb down. He's just
- 7:07Speaker 4: misguided and easily distracted, lacks motivation.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Yeah, what we maybe used to call hyperactive and now
- 7:13Speaker 5: we call yeah something else.
- 7:15Speaker 4: So I think it needed to be more of a
- 7:17Speaker 4: sense of Homer pushing him in the direction of showing
- 7:19Speaker 4: put your motivation into something more successful, as opposed to
- 7:22Speaker 4: my kids moron. I need to do it for him,
- 7:24Speaker 4: because Bart's not a moron.
- 7:25Speaker 5: No, that's correct. Yeah, So there were things like that
- 7:28Speaker 5: that made me that took me out of the episode
- 7:30Speaker 5: a bit. Yeah, they felt like, we're going to alter
- 7:34Speaker 5: the way characters are, We're going to shape characterizations for
- 7:37Speaker 5: the sake of convenience, for the sake of the story
- 7:39Speaker 5: that we want to tell here, for the sake of
- 7:41Speaker 5: this episode. And it didn't necessarily rub me the wrong way,
- 7:44Speaker 5: but it did feel like you're doing a lot of
- 7:47Speaker 5: heavy lifting here and sort of in all the wrong directions.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Yeah, there's just elements where it just feels like this
- 7:53Speaker 4: is the classic case of getting a writer in who
- 7:56Speaker 4: is changing a character's personality. Guess you could say, yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 4: for the sake of a story, I'm willing to go
- 8:02Speaker 4: with it. But when you're just getting Bart and you're
- 8:04Speaker 4: completely making him idiotic and moronic for the sake of
- 8:08Speaker 4: being able to tell this story when reality, you could
- 8:10Speaker 4: have told a better story if you just kept Bart
- 8:13Speaker 4: as Bart.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Yeah, essentially, when you look at Bart and you look
- 8:15Speaker 5: at him in the classroom and you look at him like, oh,
- 8:16Speaker 5: I've got my record, my report I look at my
- 8:19Speaker 5: report card and it's like, oh no, d's and f's
- 8:22Speaker 5: and et cetera. It's like I never get the feeling.
- 8:25Speaker 5: It's like, oh, he got that because he's dumb. It's like,
- 8:27Speaker 5: you got that because he didn't pay any attention.
- 8:29Speaker 4: He's an underachiever. That's what used to call him underachiever
- 8:31Speaker 4: and proud of it was the slogan, yeah, very much.
- 8:33Speaker 4: He's just a kid who just needs extra help and yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 4: that's it needs motivation or direction exactly right. So yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 4: to make him someone who is dangling folders from basically
- 8:43Speaker 4: going due apologies with that, folks, but that's what he
- 8:47Speaker 4: was doing in the episode. Yeah, it just didn't feel right.
- 8:50Speaker 4: It felt like, as I said, a misrepresentation for the
- 8:55Speaker 4: sake purely.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Of this episode.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Yeah, we're getting back to Homer's parenting known in this
- 8:59Speaker 4: every parents want their kid to succeed, but it shouldn't
- 9:02Speaker 4: come at the expense of their happiness either. So that's
- 9:03Speaker 4: where the least the story comes into it as well.
- 9:05Speaker 4: You need to find that balance of you're a kid
- 9:08Speaker 4: and you're only a kid once, so have fun, but
- 9:10Speaker 4: also work hard in the sense of try. That's why
- 9:13Speaker 4: I always say to Elliott, I don't care what scores
- 9:15Speaker 4: you get at school mate, as long as I know
- 9:17Speaker 4: that you're trying. When as school time you try, well, that.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Sets the foundation for one of my favorite sayings is
- 9:23Speaker 5: how you do anything is how you do everything. Yeah. So, yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 5: you learn to do the work, even if it's not
- 9:28Speaker 5: necessarily something that you're into. It's just like give it
- 9:31Speaker 5: a red hod go give it your best shot. If
- 9:33Speaker 5: you didn't, if you didn't get an A plus, that's fine,
- 9:34Speaker 5: as long as you put in the hours, put in
- 9:37Speaker 5: the effort. Yeah absolutely, yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Balance your work or balance your diet. Everything everything is
- 9:41Speaker 4: a balance. Oh yeah, we all know lives about balance.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Balance. Dan know you're the one who will bring balance
- 9:46Speaker 5: to the force.
- 9:47Speaker 4: I do think the ending was a bit predictable with Bart,
- 9:49Speaker 4: just Homer winning because he's they thought that he was
- 9:53Speaker 4: at Bart's was done by Bart. We've seen variations on
- 9:55Speaker 4: this before, Frank Grahame's thing when Homer did there was
- 9:58Speaker 4: it model contest that kind of stuff, right, yeah, and
- 10:00Speaker 4: just yet this couldn't possibly have been done by your
- 10:02Speaker 4: parent first prize, it's just thought because you can see
- 10:05Speaker 4: that coming a mile away.
- 10:05Speaker 5: But by in the case where Lisa was Florida as well,
- 10:07Speaker 5: I mean she did she get or she does she's got.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Like yes, yeah, no, yeah it was ruff was Idaho, Yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 4: and she was.
- 10:14Speaker 5: She was Florida, Florida not a state amongst.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Them, gamble. But I did think though it helped convey
- 10:22Speaker 4: the messaget the end when Bart comes clean and sort
- 10:23Speaker 4: of says, no, no, you need to let us be us.
- 10:26Speaker 4: It's don't control your kids' lives, allow them to make
- 10:29Speaker 4: mistakes and grow from them.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Oh yeah, look morally and socially and psychology psychologically. Yeah, absolutely,
- 10:34Speaker 5: it's on point.
- 10:36Speaker 4: What was the quote that Oscar Wilder, isn't this about mistakes?
- 10:39Speaker 5: Experience is just the name we give mistakes. Yeah, experience
- 10:42Speaker 5: is just the name of good mistakes. We made Oscar
- 10:43Speaker 5: wild Damn with the one liners.
- 10:45Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure that is that one Bark quotes at
- 10:48Speaker 4: the end he does yes, yeah, which doesn't sort of
- 10:50Speaker 4: make sense because how did he know who Oscar Wild is?
- 10:52Speaker 4: These guys, well, apparently he visited bart As well. Yeah, yes,
- 10:58Speaker 4: didn't like that. Well I didn't mind it, say too, dad, stupid.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I don't know. There are certain people online who are
- 11:04Speaker 5: reading into that, certain things about Oscar whild who apparently
- 11:07Speaker 5: liked him young. Oh really not young young, but you
- 11:11Speaker 5: know young enough. You like his twinks, some young guy. Yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 5: what does it remains? Well, cream of some young someone
- 11:21Speaker 5: someone we know who may have employed both of it.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Some stage thought it was the height of comedy to
- 11:25Speaker 5: refer to me as some young guy. Yes, indeed, I
- 11:29Speaker 5: don't think it was all that. I don't think it
- 11:31Speaker 5: was unfunny.
- 11:33Speaker 4: It really wandered the cream, that's correct. I'm working over town,
- 11:40Speaker 4: so they set up here of the tongue. What do
- 11:42Speaker 4: you think? I thought it was a bit wacky, kind
- 11:43Speaker 4: of painless. But for me, though, the only problem was
- 11:47Speaker 4: that it just kind of ended. There was no follow
- 11:49Speaker 4: up to it.
- 11:49Speaker 5: That is a very good point something I wanted to raise.
- 11:52Speaker 5: It's like funny how those hyper sensitive taste buds sort
- 11:55Speaker 5: of went away here, like the episode just forgot about.
- 11:58Speaker 4: That, because that could have been an episode in itself
- 12:00Speaker 4: with Homer. He's learning to live without his favorite foods.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Perhaps he loses some weight, he gets more fit, he
- 12:06Speaker 4: gets better sleep, so he's not eating lead at night,
- 12:08Speaker 4: that kind of thing. And then as the story, he
- 12:10Speaker 4: still had the bar and leasa thing. But as the
- 12:12Speaker 4: episode progresses, then he realized, oh, I can eat all
- 12:16Speaker 4: these foods again. He has to find again we get
- 12:17Speaker 4: to about to balance the work with. But the Homer
- 12:20Speaker 4: story is all about balance as well, balance your diet,
- 12:22Speaker 4: balance your work, or balance everything. So it's all about
- 12:25Speaker 4: make the choice go back to my unhealthy lifestyle or
- 12:28Speaker 4: eat a bit healthier. But he's learned to live like
- 12:30Speaker 4: eating healthier food.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I wouldn't make it an A plot. I'd make
- 12:33Speaker 5: that a B plot. But yeah, certainly the idea of it.
- 12:36Speaker 4: I just thought that the tongue taste. But I know
- 12:38Speaker 4: we usually have stories that sort of set up the
- 12:40Speaker 4: main story than the first act. But I would have
- 12:42Speaker 4: thought it would have been nice to sort of bring
- 12:43Speaker 4: it full circle in some way.
- 12:44Speaker 5: I think it's a really good concept. I think it
- 12:46Speaker 5: works really well with Homer, or of course, as someone
- 12:48Speaker 5: who likes to eat, he enjoys his flavors, all that
- 12:51Speaker 5: kind of stuff. I think it could have been really
- 12:52Speaker 5: interesting from a visual standpoint as well. You know, like
- 12:56Speaker 5: he takes a little nibble of something that's even vaguely
- 12:58Speaker 5: spice and all of a sudden will it just explodes
- 13:01Speaker 5: it with fruit flavor, all that, all that kind of stuff,
- 13:04Speaker 5: you look an interesting way into the story. I thought
- 13:06Speaker 5: they handled it, actually, I think think they handled it
- 13:08Speaker 5: visually very well. When he's got his whowie pops.
- 13:12Speaker 4: But he takes it is the cherry one that he
- 13:13Speaker 4: has to be. I looked at lemon thing first and
- 13:15Speaker 4: I went, that's just stupid. The way his face sucked
- 13:18Speaker 4: it was cherry first. Right then I remember to this
- 13:20Speaker 4: sour gummy and how's the hell's a gummy? How's the candy?
- 13:24Speaker 4: Because the sour candy and his face is sucked in,
- 13:27Speaker 4: and I'm like, I've been laughing at this for twenty years.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Why would I'm laughing at it?
- 13:29Speaker 5: An exactly? No, it was it was like it was
- 13:31Speaker 5: a good visual representation. I'm like, oh my god, this
- 13:33Speaker 5: is how it feels now. Did he haven't had a
- 13:35Speaker 5: cherry one first? And then a lemon?
- 13:36Speaker 4: Right? Too much? Cherry said it with the lemon.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Yeah, gets sucked seeing Have.
- 13:41Speaker 4: You seen a cat try something sour? I have? Indeed,
- 13:44Speaker 4: have you seen the video of the white cat that
- 13:45Speaker 4: tries it? No, no, sorry, this isn't sour. This is
- 13:48Speaker 4: a cat smelling something sour that's gone. Have you seen that?
- 13:51Speaker 5: Yeah, just pulling incredible faces.
- 13:53Speaker 4: I'm going to show you this one video. I saw
- 13:54Speaker 4: it yesterday thought I'm gonna have to show guy this
- 13:56Speaker 4: because it's hilarious.
- 13:57Speaker 5: There are so many of dogs and cats trying various
- 13:59Speaker 5: things that taken a bite of a lemon, or you
- 14:02Speaker 5: give a cat a salad, for instance, and I'll try
- 14:04Speaker 5: a little bit of it and then just like no,
- 14:07Speaker 5: they pulled a Danny DeVito face.
- 14:08Speaker 4: From a Nope, watch this cat. It's smelling bad yogurt.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Watch his face.
- 14:18Speaker 5: Dan is going to edit this in or what But
- 14:20Speaker 5: this cat is basically pulled this way as leaves. Don't
- 14:24Speaker 5: use that as a string video.
- 14:26Speaker 4: We're gonna get us in a good mood.
- 14:28Speaker 5: Well, you're well aware that my instant serotonin or dope
- 14:33Speaker 5: mean boost is yeah, the dog dancing to Africa. But
- 14:36Speaker 5: I don't know. We love our four legged friends and
- 14:38Speaker 5: we love it when they react in they think they're people. Yeah,
- 14:45Speaker 5: so no, that was that was good. But yeah, I
- 14:48Speaker 5: love animals reacting. Yeah, it was dry, reaching poorly to
- 14:52Speaker 5: food that they don't really enjoy.
- 14:55Speaker 4: So, speaking of what was talking about waste opportunities there
- 14:57Speaker 4: with Homer, right, Lisa story I thought was also a
- 14:59Speaker 4: bit wasted as well. I also thought this could have
- 15:01Speaker 4: been an episode in itself. We have seen it before,
- 15:03Speaker 4: Lisa trying to be cool, trying to fit in and
- 15:04Speaker 4: realize that she just needs to be herself to be happy. Yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 4: but there was it just felt like it was just again,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I felt like three stories here that weren't fleshed out,
- 15:13Speaker 4: thrown into one episode.
- 15:15Speaker 5: It did feel that way, didn't it. Yeah, I think
- 15:16Speaker 5: something I've written well, to quote my notes, this is
- 15:19Speaker 5: a little all over the place, and it certainly was.
- 15:21Speaker 5: I mean, essentially they've taken if not the plot of
- 15:25Speaker 5: Mean Girls and certainly the concept of mean Girls. I'm
- 15:28Speaker 5: not sure if there's around this is probably around seven
- 15:30Speaker 5: five that feels around.
- 15:31Speaker 4: The four four and five was Ween Girls early, Yeah,
- 15:35Speaker 4: early two thousand and this was two thousand and nine,
- 15:37Speaker 4: so it was, oh.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Okay, it was definitely taking off Mean Girls.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Then it was Me and Girls taking off something else? Though,
- 15:42Speaker 4: Was Me and Girls an original concept of girls being pitches?
- 15:44Speaker 4: I don't think it was an a viginal concept. Well
- 15:45Speaker 4: not really, no, but there was. Actually if the.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Book was called Mean Girls, the book might have been
- 15:50Speaker 5: called Queen Bees and Wanna Bees okay, which was actually
- 15:52Speaker 5: like sort of a sociological study by this by this
- 15:55Speaker 5: researcher who spoke to a lot of high school girls
- 15:58Speaker 5: and sort of not worked out the pecking because the
- 16:00Speaker 5: pecking orders existed at the time immemorial. But this is
- 16:03Speaker 5: what it's like in the nearly twenty fifth century. This
- 16:05Speaker 5: is what your teenage daughters are up to. And the
- 16:07Speaker 5: ogual maybe here here, here, here, or here, and yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 5: it's nothing new, but this felt very much in terms
- 16:14Speaker 5: of like, oh, they're sitting at this table, Oh you
- 16:16Speaker 5: can't sit with us, all that kind of thing. If
- 16:18Speaker 5: you've watched Me and Girls, like, oh, that's how they act.
- 16:20Speaker 4: It was worth it for me for that bar scene, though.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I liked the bar sceam where they're showing off how
- 16:25Speaker 4: girls or how people in general manipulate others, and I'm like, this,
- 16:28Speaker 4: this would actually work. These are legitimate, These are legitimate
- 16:31Speaker 4: cases of how you manipulate people.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Oh yeah, i'msults and what's it called the Toledo take
- 16:35Speaker 5: back or something like that.
- 16:36Speaker 4: That was one of my favorite most I just fought.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Dan was so funny in that just getting the favorite moments?
- 16:40Speaker 5: Shall we? Yeah? Well, by the way, shout out to
- 16:42Speaker 5: Dan see heh yes, he won an Emmy for his
- 16:46Speaker 5: voice work on this particular episode. Did yes, fourth Emmy?
- 16:48Speaker 5: Well done, Dan? See my favorite?
- 16:52Speaker 4: All right? My first favorite moment was Ralph saying, oh,
- 16:55Speaker 4: he said, date your daughter, buddy. I'm here to eat,
- 16:56Speaker 4: not to make interesting conversation. I could have really die anymore.
- 17:00Speaker 4: But it used to be we used to call the
- 17:02Speaker 4: oasis where you go inside the factory at FOURT and
- 17:04Speaker 4: you'd eat your lunch and some people just want to
- 17:06Speaker 4: talk and I'm like, dude, I don't want to talk
- 17:08Speaker 4: to you. Oh yeah, I just want to eat my lunch,
- 17:10Speaker 4: read my phone, leave me alone. And it's employee of
- 17:16Speaker 4: the month there. But it's just you know, but you
- 17:18Speaker 4: know those points where you're trying to eat your lunch
- 17:20Speaker 4: and you found something interesting to read or watch and
- 17:22Speaker 4: someone's talking to you, and you want to be polite
- 17:24Speaker 4: and pretend like you're trying to engage, but also imply
- 17:27Speaker 4: I'm done now though, Can I just get back to
- 17:29Speaker 4: what I was doing? Please?
- 17:30Speaker 5: Friends? There was a time when Dan when I used
- 17:32Speaker 5: to work together, not only work together, but actually sit
- 17:34Speaker 5: next to one mother. And this was very much the case,
- 17:38Speaker 5: like we are watching their dinner something. Daniel was always
- 17:43Speaker 5: extremely friendly. But a blind down where the plank came
- 17:47Speaker 5: from it lunchtime was dandos. What else did enjoyment?
- 17:52Speaker 4: I also enjoyed as silly as it was. I lined
- 17:55Speaker 4: time as helicopter away when he crashes black dog down, I'm.
- 17:58Speaker 5: Like this, black hog down? Black dog down was fun
- 18:00Speaker 5: like this is stupid.
- 18:01Speaker 4: I found myself laughing and I went, I don't know
- 18:04Speaker 4: why I'm laughing, but I'm laughing. So to put us
- 18:06Speaker 4: in a favorite moment, you got me.
- 18:07Speaker 5: They ran the helicopter gag into the ground by the
- 18:10Speaker 5: first many times, but first time was good. But black
- 18:12Speaker 5: or damn, Black or damn was funny.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Harllycufter away?
- 18:16Speaker 5: What else?
- 18:17Speaker 2: Uh?
- 18:19Speaker 4: All the various ghosts oscar while I was throwing all
- 18:21Speaker 4: these quotes are there?
- 18:21Speaker 5: Whatever happened to boo?
- 18:25Speaker 4: A great lineup of ghosts in Westminster Alley. Yeah, Ali,
- 18:29Speaker 4: you say Westminster Alley, I said Westminster Abbey, said Allie said,
- 18:33Speaker 4: like Ali to the tape.
- 18:36Speaker 5: By all If I've got it wrong, Westminster Ali is
- 18:39Speaker 5: actually the back street outside Weinstminster Abbey. Did you know that?
- 18:41Speaker 4: That's what a lot of fun happens?
- 18:42Speaker 5: Right? Yeah, No, I actually made that up. That's that's
- 18:45Speaker 5: that's complete, complete lie. But I'm so convincing. But yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 5: a great lineup of ghosts in Westminster Abbey.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Maum, we get to ruin one of my trivia questions,
- 18:53Speaker 4: but go for it?
- 18:54Speaker 5: Go why not? Because it's you know, the author of
- 18:56Speaker 5: the Canter Retails, Jeffrey Chaucer. You may know him better
- 18:58Speaker 5: as Paul Betany from A Night's Tale. Anne of Cleves
- 19:01Speaker 5: is one of the wives of Henry the Eighth. Story
- 19:04Speaker 5: about that, I'm sure I have told my show Busy
- 19:07Speaker 5: Jason stories many times. But back in I think it
- 19:09Speaker 5: was twenty ten, maybe around that time, I went on
- 19:13Speaker 5: a lovely press tour to Ireland to visit the set
- 19:16Speaker 5: of a show called The Tutors, which was basically mentioned
- 19:18Speaker 5: this what if Henry the Eighth but sexy and yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 5: Henry Cavill was in it.
- 19:24Speaker 4: You mentioned Henry Covery. You mentioned this story.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Yeah, oh yeah, it's where my crush began and never ended.
- 19:30Speaker 5: But the actor playing Anne of Cleves was the singer
- 19:33Speaker 5: Joss Stone. Are you familiar with Johnstone? She charmed us all.
- 19:38Speaker 5: She was just pants flew off. Absolutely, Oh yeah. She
- 19:42Speaker 5: was so delightful. And you know, I think we were
- 19:45Speaker 5: talking about how an and of Cleves was generally regarded
- 19:49Speaker 5: as one of the less attractive of Henry's wives, to
- 19:53Speaker 5: which Joss replied, oh yeah, I'm a right mega. Well, miss,
- 19:57Speaker 5: I think we love you now.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Sometimes people just have that reaction within ten seconds. You
- 20:01Speaker 4: just hear in your head it must be love, love love.
- 20:05Speaker 5: So yeah, Anna Cleaves and yeah, Oscar whild played in
- 20:08Speaker 5: the movie by Stephen fry So. Yeah, good crew at Westminster. Abby.
- 20:12Speaker 4: All right, my first question for you, I got a favorite.
- 20:16Speaker 4: I'm thinking of trivia, right, I'll say that.
- 20:18Speaker 5: I know I'm talking a lot, but yeah, man, don't
- 20:20Speaker 5: jump ahead. I think I've already mentioned good visual gag
- 20:23Speaker 5: with the flavored lollipops. I thought that worked very well.
- 20:26Speaker 5: We talked about the mean girls a little earlier. Some
- 20:28Speaker 5: terrific burns from those gowls that's one of the best.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I thought you might have it. Yeah, I hope. Well,
- 20:34Speaker 5: that looks like a really nice lunch. Today we're having
- 20:36Speaker 5: a cold shoulders like, oh damn, I'm doing the ice
- 20:41Speaker 5: cube and Chris Tucker and Friday.
- 20:42Speaker 4: I think. But I'm getting soft because I watched these scenes.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Now when I see, Yeah, you're afraid that's going to
- 20:48Speaker 4: happen to Holly, Yeah or just Ali.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Yeah, worse for me, But Holly's going to do this
- 20:53Speaker 5: to someone. That's what if you turn out to be
- 20:55Speaker 5: a mean girl that I actually worry about that. Sometimes
- 20:57Speaker 5: I go, I hope my kids don't have to be bullies.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Elliott won't be a bully.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Holly.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Yeah, you just don't know yet.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Because you're still twenty four. It's like sometimes Hollywood wouldn't
- 21:05Speaker 4: share this, and I'm like, she my sister was never
- 21:08Speaker 4: a bully, but she was in clicks. I don't want
- 21:12Speaker 4: Holly to be in clicks because clicks aren't fun for anybody.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Aren't fun? Friend groups are fun?
- 21:17Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, but what was I saying?
- 21:19Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 21:19Speaker 4: I watch these scenes though, and I just worry, worry,
- 21:21Speaker 4: I just see Lisa and I feel really bad for
- 21:24Speaker 4: it because it's just she's sitting in a corner by herself,
- 21:27Speaker 4: and Homer seeing this, he wants to help her. I
- 21:29Speaker 4: don't think he sees that and goes, I'm going to
- 21:31Speaker 4: benefit from this. I just I don't want Lisa to
- 21:34Speaker 4: feel this way.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I've said this before on a few of
- 21:37Speaker 5: our podcasts, especially recently. But you know, you listen to
- 21:40Speaker 5: podcasts where they talk about the difference between the way
- 21:44Speaker 5: boys bully and the way girls bully. And boys are
- 21:48Speaker 5: like carpet bombs, you know, they're like scorts to Earth,
- 21:51Speaker 5: but then it's over, it's done with girls are like
- 21:54Speaker 5: strategic strikes. They're like the bunker buster. You know, it's like,
- 21:57Speaker 5: uh no, I will never recover from that. You will
- 22:00Speaker 5: wake up three decades down the line recalling what a
- 22:03Speaker 5: girl said to you. If it's like, oh god, they
- 22:06Speaker 5: know exactly how to how to hit me.
- 22:08Speaker 4: That's like when I remember when she was like is
- 22:10Speaker 4: that it stayed with you already?
- 22:14Speaker 5: Yeah, but nine months lady got Elliott. Well a couple
- 22:19Speaker 5: more things are like you mentioned, Yeah, buddy, I'm here
- 22:22Speaker 5: to week. That's a great, great, a great Homer line.
- 22:27Speaker 5: It feels very Homer and it's a great line, and he.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Would be sitting with Ralph. I just speke he would
- 22:32Speaker 4: be sitting with.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Mosaic. Well, yes, we should all go Scandadavin in the sauna.
- 22:39Speaker 5: What are we doing here? I thought that was very funny.
- 22:42Speaker 5: But the the best gag something Rybald was the misunderstanding
- 22:48Speaker 5: between doctor Hibbitt.
- 22:50Speaker 4: No right, Holy.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Homer's tone is going to be out of action for
- 22:55Speaker 5: that might impede your love me. No, No, He'll just
- 22:57Speaker 5: ride down what he wants. Brilliant.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Yeah, there's so many layers to that joke.
- 23:05Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I've got to give yeah, rob My, Well,
- 23:10Speaker 5: first of all, if you're listening, Hi, writer Rob Zebnik,
- 23:14Speaker 5: I hope I'm pronouncing you'll sooner grectly.
- 23:16Speaker 4: If you're listening, hello, good to talk to you.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Having He said, that was so fun to watch. I'm
- 23:21Speaker 5: gonna sit in the room.
- 23:22Speaker 4: You don't looking at me, look at the camera, have
- 23:23Speaker 4: any conversation with someone who's never gonna listen to this.
- 23:27Speaker 5: I'm going to sit there like I'm here too.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I'll get back to you and I'm right down.
- 23:31Speaker 5: My attentions all roll. What you have a conversation. He
- 23:36Speaker 5: hadn't written an episode for eight years. His last one
- 23:38Speaker 5: before this was Homer Versus Dignity.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Yeah, which doesn't bow well for his reputation. Correct, that's
- 23:43Speaker 4: what my HomeOS Sex with the Panda.
- 23:45Speaker 5: That's correct. On a fan forum, someone who did not
- 23:48Speaker 5: like this episode basically said, Rob please disappear for another
- 23:51Speaker 5: eight years. I don't wholly agree with that. I love
- 23:57Speaker 5: the the degree of burn, I think it's great, sure,
- 24:05Speaker 5: but I will give you props for that particular gag.
- 24:08Speaker 5: I thought it was very very good indeed, and that
- 24:12Speaker 5: was guys favorite moments.

- 24:43Speaker 5: Next question, you there eating.
- 24:45Speaker 4: The Beast trivia time. My first question for you is
- 24:48Speaker 4: the prize at the basketball game at the squid Port
- 24:51Speaker 4: was a flag of what was it?
- 24:53Speaker 5: Alaska?
- 24:54Speaker 4: No, so that was the.
- 24:55Speaker 5: Because that's the forty last state.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a lunchbox.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Okay? Was it a flag for another country?
- 25:01Speaker 4: It was Milwaukee Braves, the team she now knows the
- 25:03Speaker 4: Atlanta Braves after nineteen sixty six, but they were the
- 25:05Speaker 4: Milwaukee Braves from fifty three to sixty six and they
- 25:08Speaker 4: won the World Series in fifty seven. Okay, then they
- 25:11Speaker 4: moved to they originally with Boston and Milwaukee and now Atlanta.
- 25:14Speaker 4: I can't imagine that ever happening in AFL, but like
- 25:16Speaker 4: it did happen because you're still called the Braves, Yeah, Atlanta,
- 25:19Speaker 4: the Atlanta Braves.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Yeah yeah yah, because you know, the Cleveland Indians had
- 25:23Speaker 5: to become something.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Else, yeah yeah, and then they're the Cleveland Guardians.
- 25:26Speaker 5: You'll get this because I think everyone was talking about it.
- 25:28Speaker 5: But what kind of dinosaur is Marge riding?
- 25:31Speaker 4: That would be a sticky saw? Stikus checks out. Well,
- 25:37Speaker 4: you've got one of my questions with the westmins aabby ghoest.
- 25:39Speaker 4: My next question for you is what is the name
- 25:41Speaker 4: of the Ali behind And the answer to that is
- 25:45Speaker 4: Ali sheety she is in short Circuit? Right, that's Ali
- 25:50Speaker 4: Shedy she is, Yeah, Stephanie. I was so funny because
- 25:53Speaker 4: the kids watch short Circuit down there, say you're talking
- 25:56Speaker 4: short circuit up a bit love the short circuit?
- 25:57Speaker 5: Right? Did I tell you?
- 25:58Speaker 4: That's why I called Daphne daff So I always go Daphanie, Daphanie,
- 26:02Speaker 4: And I was like, I watch sort so oh it's
- 26:05Speaker 4: Stephanie Japhani. My instinct is I love short circuit as
- 26:08Speaker 4: a kid.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Is that the pronunciation by Johnny five or by the
- 26:11Speaker 5: Indian ga played by noted non.
- 26:14Speaker 4: No no By Johnny five, he says Stephanie, Stephanie. Now
- 26:18Speaker 4: I'm always like Daphanie, And.
- 26:20Speaker 5: Why why do you do that? Nicols like what did?
- 26:22Speaker 4: I don't know. There's a reason, but I can't figure
- 26:23Speaker 4: it out. And then short Circuit came on and I
- 26:25Speaker 4: went Stephanie. Everybody has got their their stuff. They've lifted
- 26:29Speaker 4: from pop culture and they don't maybe even remember exactly
- 26:32Speaker 4: where from Listeners, viewers, if you've got one of these,
- 26:36Speaker 4: if you've got a line that you use from a
- 26:38Speaker 4: movie or TV show all the time that just entered
- 26:39Speaker 4: your personal vernacular, let us know. Mine is from the
- 26:45Speaker 4: nineteen ninety six romantic comedy The Truth About Cats and Dogs,
- 26:49Speaker 4: where Jenningerofflo sort of spills something on herself while she's
- 26:52Speaker 4: trying to impress some guy and says, of course, of
- 26:54Speaker 4: course that would happen. I say this all the time.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I use that all.
- 26:59Speaker 4: I've never seen that movie, but I've said, of course
- 27:01Speaker 4: this happened. Of course what I always back it up?
- 27:04Speaker 4: Why wouldn't it?
- 27:05Speaker 5: But I say exactly that rhythm, of course, of course
- 27:07Speaker 5: this would happened. So yeah, your next question for me,
- 27:12Speaker 5: I know you just asked me.
- 27:13Speaker 4: I just asked you one. Didn't know?
- 27:14Speaker 5: Okay, Well how about I ask you one?
- 27:16Speaker 4: It was alily sheety was the answer?
- 27:18Speaker 5: Actually, what is the no? You're taking the okay? In
- 27:23Speaker 5: the model store, Alfreddy Newman is holding up two sides.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I knew you're going to ask this question. I didn't
- 27:28Speaker 4: write it down. What was it?
- 27:28Speaker 5: But one of them is banned the bomb and the
- 27:30Speaker 5: other is washer.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Hippie, Washer hippie, I do something to do with a hippie.
- 27:33Speaker 4: My next question was going to be what who has
- 27:35Speaker 4: interchangeable arms in the model store. So there's that one
- 27:37Speaker 4: out of the way. I'll then ask.
- 27:38Speaker 5: You, what is the name of the store model store?
- 27:43Speaker 4: No, No, it's got a it's got a good name,
- 27:44Speaker 4: and I didn't write it down either. It's got a
- 27:46Speaker 4: pun name crafty arts, arts and crafts. Good name, good name. Yeah,
- 27:51Speaker 4: actual could be should be a store name. What did
- 27:55Speaker 4: Martin build in the modeling competition?
- 27:58Speaker 2: Oh?
- 27:59Speaker 4: I do have it, my know. I'm gonna try and remember,
- 28:01Speaker 4: just to really really impress myself and me. It was
- 28:05Speaker 4: so Milhouse. Did the Beijing one? You did the CCTV's building.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Is that right? That's correct in Beijing.
- 28:12Speaker 4: I'm not gonna get I'm gonna look that. I'm gonna cheat.
- 28:13Speaker 4: I'm gonna cheat. I wrote my notes.
- 28:16Speaker 5: It's not cheating if you did the work.
- 28:17Speaker 4: It is the Brazilian National Congress.
- 28:19Speaker 5: It certainly is. May I tell you some of the
- 28:21Speaker 5: others go for it. Utah did the temples at ankor
- 28:24Speaker 5: what in Cambodia?
- 28:25Speaker 4: I believe it is nice to see you, Yeah, good
- 28:27Speaker 4: to see you.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Blind spot for me. I don't know who the who
- 28:31Speaker 5: that other kid is?
- 28:32Speaker 4: It was Noah. It was the smart ass kid. Was
- 28:33Speaker 4: that Noah? That was the kid that that's the story. Okay, yeah,
- 28:37Speaker 4: By the way.
- 28:38Speaker 5: No I had to be in it because I guess.
- 28:40Speaker 4: So, yeah, you didn't make that much of an impression.
- 28:42Speaker 4: I actually liked saying Noah. I like the name Noah,
- 28:46Speaker 4: and I'm like, it just teakes me back when we're
- 28:47Speaker 4: trying to name a kid and I'm like, I don't
- 28:49Speaker 4: like that name, Nicoli goes. I really like this name.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I don't I would not be called that.
- 28:54Speaker 5: It's a no One Noah. I just loved when he
- 29:00Speaker 5: was getting sort of drilled on state capitals and I
- 29:03Speaker 5: was like, Wow, he's terrified of you. That was really funny.
- 29:09Speaker 4: I was watching this actually, and I do worry sometimes
- 29:11Speaker 4: that maybe I am a bit of a helicopter parent.
- 29:14Speaker 4: It's just I don't know when I'm watching Elliot do
- 29:16Speaker 4: oz kick and things like that, because I play so
- 29:19Speaker 4: much footy with Alliott. I'm just trying to remind him, no,
- 29:21Speaker 4: remember when I teach you this and get me wrong, Alliot.
- 29:24Speaker 4: It's really good at football, right, also cricket, Yeah, also cricket.
- 29:27Speaker 4: But sometimes he's playing a game and I get annoyed
- 29:29Speaker 4: because they get these kids to do the umpiring, like
- 29:31Speaker 4: the kids that play for the local footy. They do
- 29:34Speaker 4: it at a local footy ground for a club and
- 29:36Speaker 4: they get the like under sixteen kids from the club
- 29:37Speaker 4: to do the umpiring during little mock games, for oz
- 29:39Speaker 4: kick games and with kids games. Now they have what's
- 29:42Speaker 4: called zones, so put cones across thirds of the ground
- 29:45Speaker 4: and if you're in the back line you got to
- 29:46Speaker 4: stay in the back line. You're in the midfield, you
- 29:48Speaker 4: stay in the midfield, if you're in the fords, you're
- 29:49Speaker 4: staying the force. You're stay in the Zone's trying to
- 29:50Speaker 4: teach the kids not to follow the football because I
- 29:54Speaker 4: used to watch Little League footy and it was wherever
- 29:56Speaker 4: the ball was, all twenty kids, all forty players were
- 29:58Speaker 4: in the one spot, so trying to kick the kids braided.
- 30:01Speaker 4: But you watch it and the kids of the parents
- 30:04Speaker 4: who are associated with the os Kicks just do what
- 30:06Speaker 4: they want. And obviously these kids know them because they're
- 30:09Speaker 4: associated with the club as well, the umpires, and they
- 30:11Speaker 4: just let them get away. But then they'll pin alliot
- 30:13Speaker 4: and I guess, sit down. I'm just going it's just
- 30:16Speaker 4: I was kick. It doesn't really matter. But how are
- 30:19Speaker 4: these kids a supposed to know right from wrong when
- 30:21Speaker 4: they're allowed to do the wrong thing? And why is Alliott.
- 30:24Speaker 4: It's making Elliott frustrated because he's going, Dad, he's leaving
- 30:27Speaker 4: the zone. Why can't I leave the zone? I'm going,
- 30:29Speaker 4: what do I do in this situation? Do I become
- 30:31Speaker 4: one of those soccer mums or the dads that interfere,
- 30:35Speaker 4: or do I just let it go?
- 30:36Speaker 5: Well, I don't think you sort of front up to
- 30:39Speaker 5: the young umpire whoever sort of running the show that
- 30:42Speaker 5: day and you're doing it wrong. Yeah, you subtly go
- 30:45Speaker 5: behind the scenes and say we sort of establish these
- 30:48Speaker 5: things for a reason. Be good if everyone sort of
- 30:49Speaker 5: went with it, and you know, if the person who
- 30:51Speaker 5: was running the show says it's just a game or
- 30:53Speaker 5: it's just a bit of fun or whatever, it's like, hmm,
- 30:56Speaker 5: I might start lobbing to actually take this personal job
- 30:58Speaker 5: because they're messing up.
- 31:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 5: I didn't want to say messing up. I want to
- 31:03Speaker 5: say something else.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Because Ali comes to me and he goes, why is
- 31:05Speaker 4: he allowed to do this? And I go, I know, mate,
- 31:07Speaker 4: that's not right.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Yeah forwards from run your Own Race. Yeah, it's good advice.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Yeah, but a non parent, I just watch it sometimes
- 31:15Speaker 4: and I go, I feel like I want to interfere
- 31:17Speaker 4: and I take a step back, but I feel like
- 31:19Speaker 4: I wanted to wholly understandable.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Yeah. Look, the term helicoplic parent get I think it's
- 31:23Speaker 5: being used in a bit of a pejorative way these days,
- 31:26Speaker 5: but I think probably we used to call it just
- 31:29Speaker 5: being an involved or an engaged parent. You can overdo it,
- 31:32Speaker 5: of course, any parent can, but better maybe better that
- 31:35Speaker 5: than the alternative who asked the last question I think
- 31:37Speaker 5: was me.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Do you want to ask one more? And it would
- 31:39Speaker 4: do some stonecup of shout outs.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Oh I've got one more? Do it hit me? Speaking
- 31:43Speaker 5: of Westminster Abby, mister Ali Sheedy. Yes, indeed in the
- 31:48Speaker 5: model shop, Kirk said, Homer won't get past what section
- 31:51Speaker 5: of the Westminster Addie Abbey?
- 31:53Speaker 4: Good look, I want all these patrons listening out there
- 31:57Speaker 4: in the patrioon group this week, I want you to
- 31:59Speaker 4: send this through all verys of Westminster Aby from this
- 32:01Speaker 4: way or Westminster Ali shady, Westminster Addie? What were that
- 32:04Speaker 4: someone called Addie?
- 32:05Speaker 5: The Westminster Addie is London's version of the Gelo Advertiser,
- 32:10Speaker 5: a formerly great newspaper. Actually now it's say formally great.
- 32:14Speaker 5: US shouldn't even say newspaper Oh, this straight to them.
- 32:21Speaker 5: I'll never went from again. Uh yeah, the Westminster Abbey model,
- 32:28Speaker 5: Kirk said, Homer won't get past what section of it?
- 32:31Speaker 4: Ah, yeah he does. It's too specific. I won't get
- 32:33Speaker 4: that it's the north transset transset. Yeah. Also, I don't
- 32:38Speaker 4: want to keep saying we'll get to the review, because
- 32:40Speaker 4: the were various moments about this where I really really
- 32:41Speaker 4: liked it. But we'll get to what we do a
- 32:42Speaker 4: full review. But before we do that, though, there are
- 32:44Speaker 4: some names you need to read it, oren't they sure do? Yes?
- 32:46Speaker 4: And their names who they called? We called the stone cutter,
- 32:49Speaker 4: the stone cutters, Yes, the stone cutters for faces. Pronunciation
- 32:56Speaker 4: is fun and exciting. What was it was the other
- 32:57Speaker 4: on Salt and Papa. I watched the SNL movie the
- 33:02Speaker 4: other day.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Oh, the Saturday night, Saturday night movie. Yeah yeah, what
- 33:05Speaker 5: do you think? I liked it right to bad. I
- 33:08Speaker 5: had no idea that SNL ad so late at night.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I thought it was just like you know,
- 33:13Speaker 5: eight o'clock till ten o'clock show on a Saturday night.

- 33:25Speaker 5: Idea, at which point, yeah, Zach is gonna, you know,
- 33:27Speaker 5: explain the good, the bad, and the ugly.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Yeah, but he's gone back our main man, Zach prol
- 33:32Speaker 4: all the way back to the beginning in nineteen seventy five,
- 33:35Speaker 4: and he's doing every episode in order. And I'm like,
- 33:36Speaker 4: good luck, buddy.
- 33:38Speaker 5: You got your work cut out. But now what that. Hey,
- 33:43Speaker 5: he's done a great job.

- 35:22Speaker 4: a rale played, yes, well, played, sir so much.
- 35:24Speaker 5: All right.
- 35:24Speaker 4: So the original air date of Father Knows Worst was
- 35:27Speaker 4: April twenty six, two thousand and nine. What were the
- 35:31Speaker 4: top three films at the box office? Mister Davis, Oh no, no,
- 35:33Speaker 4: you've got the Google. You tell me, what do you
- 35:34Speaker 4: have a guess? Two thousand and nine film? Name any
- 35:36Speaker 4: film for two thousand and nine, so if you can
- 35:37Speaker 4: get it, I kind of No.
- 35:39Speaker 5: It's long ago. That's fourteen years ago. Now that sixteen
- 35:42Speaker 5: years ago A long time, isn't it. It's a long time.
- 35:45Speaker 4: It doesn't feel that love, but it's a long time.
- 35:48Speaker 5: We're a quarter of the way into the twenty first century. Yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 5: so for someone like me who was born, you know,
- 35:56Speaker 5: in the twentieth century, Wow, the twenty first century. Can't
- 35:59Speaker 5: wait for the future. We're well into the future.
- 36:01Speaker 4: I said to Nicola the other day, we're watching something.
- 36:03Speaker 4: I said, there are people who are in their mid
- 36:04Speaker 4: twenties now who are born this century. Oh yeah, in
- 36:08Speaker 4: their mid twenties. Yeah, I said, no, wonder they don't
- 36:10Speaker 4: understanding the shit we're talking about.
- 36:12Speaker 5: There were people born in this century who can now
- 36:14Speaker 5: date Leonardo DiCaprio. Yes, that's why look, let me put
- 36:19Speaker 5: this in terms that I understand that you might as well.
- 36:22Speaker 5: We're six years past Blade.
- 36:23Speaker 4: Runner, what we are ten years past back to the
- 36:27Speaker 4: future too? What?
- 36:32Speaker 5: Okay? Yeah, so there we go.
- 36:35Speaker 4: So the number one film at the US box office
- 36:37Speaker 4: this week was Obsessed, Never heard of it.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Obsessed is a sort of a looser remake of Faith Attraction, okay,
- 36:43Speaker 5: starring Idris elba. I think Beyonce, isn't it.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Just I spoke because he'd been on the why at
- 36:48Speaker 4: this point? Yeah yeah, yeah, and hadn't been Knuckles yet though.
- 36:52Speaker 5: Don't believe so, but I believe he is having a
- 36:57Speaker 5: torrid affair with a white lady in his workplace. Horrid affair, yes,
- 37:01Speaker 5: and she gets a bit obsessed. One might say, oh,
- 37:04Speaker 5: there you go, it's albohy, wouldn't you hig jinks? So
- 37:07Speaker 5: Hi Jinx I Jinx.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Number two was seventeen again, still number two at the
- 37:12Speaker 4: box office, and Fighting comes in at number three.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it's got a Channing Tatum in it. Oh,
- 37:16Speaker 5: I thought it was on.
- 37:17Speaker 4: I'm thinking of Fighter maybe, which is the one that
- 37:19Speaker 4: has Welburg in it. That's the Fighter, the Fighter. Okay,
- 37:23Speaker 4: that's not thinking of so Fighting is not.
- 37:24Speaker 5: That it is not that. I don't really really remember
- 37:27Speaker 5: a great deal about fighting other than it has Channing
- 37:29Speaker 5: Tatum and it's probably got the most boring Ted.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Lever speaking of fighting. By the way, if youre not
- 37:33Speaker 4: supports about some Patreon we just did a review of
- 37:35Speaker 4: Bob Berger's Sexy Dance Fighting.
- 37:38Speaker 5: It's incredible how your mind works. It never stops. That's
- 37:42Speaker 5: that's some A grade spook in there.
- 37:43Speaker 4: So check it out. Bob's pods avaiable exclusively on our
- 37:46Speaker 4: Patreon If you're not supporters yet.
- 37:47Speaker 5: Indeed, we enjoy making it and you're probably going to
- 37:49Speaker 5: enjoy listening to her.
- 37:50Speaker 4: Indeed. All right, so as we said. Original April twenty six,
- 37:53Speaker 4: two thousand and nine, production code Lab F zero eight,
- 37:56Speaker 4: written by Rob Lea Zebnik, the man who wrote Over
- 37:59Speaker 4: Versus Dignity, and directed by Matthew and Nastark Chopboard Giger
- 38:02Speaker 4: will not put hot sauce in the CPR Dummy. I
- 38:05Speaker 4: feel the costs is getting thrown around a lot on
- 38:06Speaker 4: this podcast lately.
- 38:07Speaker 5: You can get that feeling as well. This Yeah, also
- 38:10Speaker 5: ties into the whole taste buds.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Thing as well. It does indeed, Yeah, Couch gag March,
- 38:14Speaker 4: but Lisa and Maggie swim across an Olympic sized swimming
- 38:16Speaker 4: pool to the couch. Bahoma's left behind and he's dead.
- 38:20Speaker 5: Opinions are divided on the humor or lack there are
- 38:24Speaker 5: in this In this couch gag, I.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Thought it was I've watched this and I went, well,
- 38:27Speaker 4: that's a bleak couch gag. I don't feel I feel
- 38:29Speaker 4: like in the nineties he would have been struggling in
- 38:31Speaker 4: the water. Yes, not face down dead. So the episode
- 38:38Speaker 4: kicks off with the It's got Bart, Lisa and Homer
- 38:42Speaker 4: at the Springfield squid Pot and due to the what
- 38:46Speaker 4: was it the boardwalking laws that have been changed to
- 38:49Speaker 4: the truth in board walking laws? That yeah, as Lisa
- 38:52Speaker 4: points out, it's ruined the place because now we've got
- 38:54Speaker 4: not so hot dogs, cold and droopy, which is what
- 38:56Speaker 4: my ex used to call me. Yes, fried dough because
- 39:00Speaker 4: worst legal food that never leaves. Every Body shoot an
- 39:02Speaker 4: oversized basketball into an undersized hoop, it's impossible, and the
- 39:06Speaker 4: prizes have been there for more than fifty years.
- 39:08Speaker 5: Have you ever been taken by a carnie in that regard?
- 39:10Speaker 5: Is like, I get the feeling I'm being scammed here
- 39:12Speaker 5: if you go to something like the Geelong shoh yep.
- 39:14Speaker 4: I was gonna say that. I always said to them,
- 39:16Speaker 4: can you show me how to do it? First?
- 39:19Speaker 5: You're such a clever consumer. I mean sometimes you get
- 39:22Speaker 5: a bit carrying with it or Darren, but you're very
- 39:25Speaker 5: clever consumer.
- 39:26Speaker 4: Well, if you can prove to me that this is possible,
- 39:29Speaker 4: I said, just drop that basketball into that hoop, just
- 39:31Speaker 4: make it go in. And usually it's the way they
- 39:34Speaker 4: do it is how they get you, because if you
- 39:36Speaker 4: hold it directly.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Know just like how they get you, that's how they
- 39:41Speaker 5: get you.
- 39:41Speaker 4: But my mate used to run one of these right,
- 39:43Speaker 4: and he says, the way it works is the basketball
- 39:45Speaker 4: fits if it's directly above it. You're dropping it straight
- 39:48Speaker 4: down into it. So when they show you, they go
- 39:49Speaker 4: see if it's in there. But if you throw it
- 39:51Speaker 4: on any form of an angle, it will never fit
- 39:53Speaker 4: in two. It's like CARNI friends are no fool.
- 39:58Speaker 5: They know that you're going to ask, yeah, show me
- 40:00Speaker 5: how to do It's like, oh, yeah, fine, no worry.
- 40:01Speaker 4: That's what I was going to say, to ask them
- 40:03Speaker 4: to show you if it goes in on a slight angle,
- 40:05Speaker 4: not above it and just sort of like throw it in.
- 40:07Speaker 4: They can't do it. They can't, They will never be
- 40:08Speaker 4: able to do it. They can't do it.
- 40:09Speaker 5: That's the trick of it.
- 40:11Speaker 4: So what they imagine, what they say to you then
- 40:13Speaker 4: is like, yeah, go ride the dodgings. Man, you're not
- 40:17Speaker 4: gonna lie. I'd appreciate the honesty. If I was walking
- 40:19Speaker 4: past and I was being honest like this, would it
- 40:21Speaker 4: make me try it out?
- 40:23Speaker 5: Probably?
- 40:23Speaker 4: Not.
- 40:24Speaker 5: Well, they don't guaranteed to win. I think that they
- 40:27Speaker 5: try your skill, try your luck, you get lucky.
- 40:29Speaker 4: They always have these giant toys across the top. Right.
- 40:32Speaker 4: And there's another thing my mate used to tell me.
- 40:33Speaker 4: He goes, because he did it for like two or
- 40:35Speaker 4: three years.
- 40:36Speaker 5: He goes.
- 40:36Speaker 4: The trick is every like twenty or thirty customers, you
- 40:39Speaker 4: let him win a big prize, right, Yes, So they
- 40:42Speaker 4: walk around the scene, walking around giant pan That's the key.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Of course, everyone has to see at least one person
- 40:49Speaker 4: carrying a giant toy because they then think, oh, I
- 40:51Speaker 4: can win one too.
- 40:51Speaker 5: Oh yeah, everybody wants that codeac moment of like you
- 40:54Speaker 5: know you're walking along the boulevard or whatever, and you
- 40:56Speaker 5: know you got your arm around your gal and yeah
- 40:59Speaker 5: she's holding onto a big old teddy bearers like, yeah,
- 41:01Speaker 5: that's right, I won that for you.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Yeah, you didn't win it. It's just that you were lucky.
- 41:03Speaker 4: You were chosing that time to be the winner. That's true,
- 41:06Speaker 4: that's true. Anyway, I've held the story before. My Daddy's
- 41:08Speaker 4: been really good at the duck shooting ones alone. But
- 41:11Speaker 4: he used to always have the first go of working
- 41:13Speaker 4: out because the games are never never straight. It's always off.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Work out the aim and then just go be like, Wow,
- 41:22Speaker 4: that man's a mass shooter. They were furious as my dad.
- 41:25Speaker 4: But Homer then mocks the juggler, claiming he can do
- 41:28Speaker 4: it too, classic usually does, throws the kids in there,
- 41:30Speaker 4: throws himself in there as well. Kids yes, and then
- 41:33Speaker 4: jumps in himself, knocks the guy over, and he says, man,
- 41:35Speaker 4: I love Saturdays and the custom Marge saying the same
- 41:37Speaker 4: thing in the basement. Finally I can have fun with
- 41:39Speaker 4: something that I bought for myself, which changed it to
- 41:41Speaker 4: be the water heater. But was this meant to be
- 41:42Speaker 4: also a sex gag or sex toy gag? That she
- 41:45Speaker 4: bought a toy for hersself and she can use it
- 41:46Speaker 4: as no one else is in the house. That's if
- 41:48Speaker 4: you want it to be. Yeah, I mean it's because
- 41:51Speaker 4: we had the kind of kind of correct gag. Later on,
- 41:57Speaker 4: I was like, is that's another.
- 41:58Speaker 5: One maybe otherwise just oh, I could be myself, but
- 42:03Speaker 5: it's for everyone else because that's Marge. That's large. It's
- 42:05Speaker 5: a lot in life. I had a water water heater
- 42:07Speaker 5: incident in my place not long ago, from a very long, hard,
- 42:12Speaker 5: just day at work such as it is, and from
- 42:17Speaker 5: the from the study to the landron correct yeah, with
- 42:19Speaker 5: a detail to the kitchen. But I was i was
- 42:22Speaker 5: lying down at the end of the day. I's like, oh,
- 42:24Speaker 5: I'm just going to take twenty minutes just to get
- 42:26Speaker 5: my breath, get my bearings and nord and I heard
- 42:27Speaker 5: this sort of dump dump dump. Oh god, there's another
- 42:30Speaker 5: possum on the roof or something like that. Then later
- 42:33Speaker 5: on I went out of the laundry and one of
- 42:36Speaker 5: the braces that was connecting the water heater to the
- 42:38Speaker 5: wall had come loose, so the water heater was kind
- 42:41Speaker 5: of like on a forty five degree ankle, and I'm like, oh, bully,
- 42:49Speaker 5: it's like and it's like Nelix of course, it's happened.
- 42:52Speaker 5: Of course, of course this is what happened. But it's like,
- 42:55Speaker 5: you know, it's six o'clock on a Friday night. I'm like,
- 42:58Speaker 5: I'm not even calling my my man David the plumber,
- 43:00Speaker 5: or first of all, who would I call? How do
- 43:03Speaker 5: I YouTube fix this year? Our Ghostbusters? Real? But I'm like,
- 43:09Speaker 5: I'm turning on various hot taps and haws. If I
- 43:12Speaker 5: don't have hot water, well I'm stuffed as well. But
- 43:14Speaker 5: luckily the hot water is still going. But the water
- 43:16Speaker 5: heat heater is just on this forty five degree and
- 43:18Speaker 5: are looking very precarious, I know, just sort of stacking
- 43:21Speaker 5: stuff around it to sort of put it back to
- 43:23Speaker 5: be it in It looks a bit like the leading
- 43:25Speaker 5: tarrapiece of the angles, not quite.
- 43:27Speaker 4: A can next sort to stand next to him push
- 43:30Speaker 4: It's like, timmy, what do you know the next eight
- 43:32Speaker 4: hours we'll make ten bucks?
- 43:35Speaker 5: Then his parents said, taking out and prostrating order. But yeah,
- 43:41Speaker 5: so I'm sort of currently looking at ways like Okay,
- 43:43Speaker 5: how do I fix this? I mean, but it's still
- 43:45Speaker 5: working fine, there's nothing wrong with it's not falling over again.
- 43:48Speaker 5: But it's like, but when your water heater goes man,
- 43:52Speaker 5: that's just bad news. Particularly you know, we're we're smack
- 43:54Speaker 5: in the middle of window right now.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's it's chilly out here. We had was
- 43:59Speaker 4: that was that going? And then it came and fixed
- 44:00Speaker 4: our thing?
- 44:01Speaker 1: Was it?
- 44:01Speaker 4: Bruce Bruce? Yeah, what a legend. Bruce Maybe can trust
- 44:06Speaker 4: I know, right, Bruce Campbell Bruce Bruce Willis Willis Springsteen. Yeah, Demagie,
- 44:11Speaker 4: she loves the old water heater. Back into the attic
- 44:14Speaker 4: five more and she gets a free one and we
- 44:16Speaker 4: see the floor collapsing into Maggie's room. Yeah, not great.
- 44:20Speaker 5: One of the great sort of fears of a homeowner.
- 44:24Speaker 5: You're looking up at your roof. Yeah, well all the
- 44:26Speaker 5: time the rooflet were you hear an al lea. I
- 44:29Speaker 5: was here when you told me about it. Man, life
- 44:31Speaker 5: fixed it. The water to started pouring through it. I
- 44:33Speaker 5: know that's positively satanic. I was terrified. Yeah, the room's
- 44:38Speaker 5: gonna explode. That's my mate who was a spark, and
- 44:40Speaker 5: he was like, dude, you find something had to happen
- 44:43Speaker 5: in the house. The powerl have tripped out, and I
- 44:45Speaker 5: was like, ah. But at the time, though, I was,
- 44:47Speaker 5: I was scared. Turned on the switch off. I'm sorry,
- 44:49Speaker 5: water and electricity in the you know, in the same neighborhood.
- 44:51Speaker 5: That's too great taste that don't taste great together. It
- 44:53Speaker 5: wasn't just a spilled drink. It was flowing I know,
- 44:56Speaker 5: right Still, those are exactly the words you want to

- 45:36Speaker 4: she comes across this mysterious door, which turns out to
- 45:39Speaker 4: be a fully functioning sauna. It's like a sauna in here,
- 45:42Speaker 4: and then this is the first good surprises house has
- 45:44Speaker 4: ever giving her.
- 45:45Speaker 5: Indeed, Dan, there you have cats. Now you will be
- 45:47Speaker 5: familiar with the concept of the big stretch. This was
- 45:52Speaker 5: what we call a big stretch.
- 45:54Speaker 4: A want of you people do big stretches. It makes
- 45:56Speaker 4: me just want to stretches, to find a good stretch.
- 45:58Speaker 4: It's just like to describe, isn't it just so nice?
- 46:01Speaker 4: Oh yeah, feeling all the bones.
- 46:04Speaker 5: Crack those ligaman's going.
- 46:08Speaker 4: I was walking down the hallway the other night feeling
- 46:09Speaker 4: my feet cracking. I'm like Jesus Christ, I'm just getting old.
- 46:13Speaker 4: I creaking crack just walking down the hallway.
- 46:15Speaker 5: Now, Oh yeah, the cacophony of sounds I make. Yeah,
- 46:19Speaker 5: when I get up from anything from a chair, I
- 46:25Speaker 5: can't wait to tell everyone.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Oh it is great, Honey for telling me about it.
- 46:32Speaker 2: I hope you don't mind. I invited Lenny and I hope.
- 46:34Speaker 5: You don't mind. I invited Carl and Mo.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, my invitation didn't say nothing about no towels.
- 46:40Speaker 2: So I guess we should all just go scan the
- 46:43Speaker 2: navy and ha ha.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Maybe I'll keep this to myself for a while.
- 46:53Speaker 5: That's pretty much her story for the entire episode. She's
- 46:55Speaker 5: just she's just sounering.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Yeah, just sawning. That's it. That's all she's doing for
- 46:58Speaker 4: to see her on the catch. Relax, that's it. I
- 47:00Speaker 4: think we haven't seen it in the sauna again until
- 47:02Speaker 4: the end.
- 47:02Speaker 5: That's correct.
- 47:03Speaker 4: Yeah, we just see a post sauna. I never have
- 47:05Speaker 4: you ever been a sauna guy? I used to have
- 47:08Speaker 4: one at the Norlane Water where to go to the
- 47:10Speaker 4: local pool, and I'd go in there, I'd go I
- 47:12Speaker 4: was too young. I don't get this. It's just boring
- 47:15Speaker 4: to me.
- 47:16Speaker 5: It's just like, yeah, I get where you're coming from
- 47:18Speaker 5: with that. I really liked the idea of the whole
- 47:20Speaker 5: sauna experience though, you know, like like going scandy, where
- 47:23Speaker 5: it's like, first of all, we got and we plunge
- 47:26Speaker 5: into the apologies for this accent anyone who's Scandinavia. We
- 47:30Speaker 5: plunged into the cold water.
- 47:31Speaker 4: I love you still did it anyway?
- 47:33Speaker 5: Well, I apologize covers. We're going to do this, but
- 47:38Speaker 5: I feel real bad about it. But first we plunged
- 47:42Speaker 5: into the cold water, and then we stand in the
- 47:44Speaker 5: cold for a little bit, and then we got into
- 47:46Speaker 5: a hot room. Then we're going into a room that's
- 47:48Speaker 5: slightly left hot. Then we got and plunge again.
- 47:50Speaker 4: Then you got into the hot Is that is that
- 47:52Speaker 4: the gimmick? Is that what you're supposed to do.
- 47:54Speaker 5: I don't know exactly routine, it's something like this. It's
- 47:57Speaker 5: it's definitely changes in temperatures and you're just getting bigger out.
- 48:01Speaker 5: You figurate the hell out. I told you to do
- 48:04Speaker 5: the height the ice Bar challenge recently.
- 48:05Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, said, And then some grabs out of your
- 48:09Speaker 4: shirt off and you're like, I'm not taking my shirt off.
- 48:11Speaker 5: Well correct, but you know I did it regardless. And
- 48:15Speaker 5: you you get out of this freezing cold water on
- 48:19Speaker 5: a freezing cold morning and all of a sudden, ye,
- 48:21Speaker 5: your skin just feels like you feel like Homer's taste buds.
- 48:25Speaker 5: It's like, oh my god, I'm feeling everything. I'm feeling
- 48:27Speaker 5: a really weird combination of temperatures and sensation.
- 48:30Speaker 4: And I it was like a rock they always are,
- 48:33Speaker 4: but yeah, it.
- 48:34Speaker 5: Was kind of wild. So I would like to do
- 48:37Speaker 5: the whole sort of sauna experience, not just sort of
- 48:39Speaker 5: sit in a hot room, but like you know, twin go,
- 48:41Speaker 5: it's like a sauna in here. I'd probably make that
- 48:44Speaker 5: gag and everyone's like, get out.
- 48:47Speaker 4: To read the sign, do not make this jo.
- 48:50Speaker 5: It's like, get flugging way, no stairway, no stairway, no sauna, gag.
- 48:55Speaker 5: But yeah, I like the idea of the whole process.
- 48:57Speaker 5: So if I went to somewhere like Scandinavia in Lindell, Greenland,
- 49:01Speaker 5: where's apple Jordan, promise he Finland or Finland or Iceland? Finland,
- 49:08Speaker 5: Hey Jordan, if we're wrong, come back to us in
- 49:10Speaker 5: neither of these plays like I I mean London, New Idiots.
- 49:19Speaker 4: Yes, But back at the squid port finds the Cloff
- 49:22Speaker 4: colush Man. It was cloth closh Man from New York.
- 49:26Speaker 4: But he's selling lamb kebobs now kebobsbobs. Yeah, we takebabs.
- 49:29Speaker 4: We do the way the words actually spelled to day
- 49:31Speaker 4: spelled it with a.
- 49:32Speaker 5: No sh kebob. I think they're referring to it as yeah,
- 49:35Speaker 5: so it might be kebobs there, but yeah, language interesting
- 49:39Speaker 5: differences all all around the wind doing. But they got kebobs.
- 49:42Speaker 5: He's what We've got a lamb kebob and he's got
- 49:43Speaker 5: a chicken. And then they which is not actually kebob at.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Least it tries to warn him dad no bus his
- 49:49Speaker 4: dad yes, and then he obviously eats it. He needs
- 49:52Speaker 4: some water. But gives him some lighter fuel. I didn't
- 49:54Speaker 4: like the fire a bit. I thought it was just
- 49:56Speaker 4: it was just silly.
- 49:56Speaker 5: But went on a little long for mine and all honesty,
- 49:59Speaker 5: I'm I'm not about to tell the folks at the
- 50:02Speaker 5: Simpsons how to do their job, except we do that
- 50:03Speaker 5: all the time. And I'm definitely going to tell Robert
- 50:05Speaker 5: lea Zebnik how to do his job. Actually, no, sorry,
- 50:08Speaker 5: the director of this is Matt who was stuck. Stuck
- 50:12Speaker 5: an mistake. This was a good opportunity for like a
- 50:14Speaker 5: Godzilla gag. You could have had like the iconic Godzilla
- 50:16Speaker 5: theme and you know, I'm just trudging along and doing
- 50:19Speaker 5: fire breath. I thought they would have been nice.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Just die Bardi die blowing water and fire into his mouth,
- 50:23Speaker 4: just down.
- 50:24Speaker 5: Yes, I think a god Zilla gag would have been
- 50:26Speaker 5: a terrific shoutout to the actual Caju king of the monsters.
- 50:30Speaker 5: Like my comic book guy there, thought it was pretty good.
- 50:32Speaker 4: It was okay, it was possible, but I watched this going.
- 50:38Speaker 4: I say this though, but is this something that maybe
- 50:40Speaker 4: Conan or Swartzworld would potentially pitch or try and attempt
- 50:44Speaker 4: maybe m the whole fire breathing fire breathing into his
- 50:48Speaker 4: face kind of thing. Possibly it fits into that cone
- 50:51Speaker 4: and wacky universe.
- 50:53Speaker 5: Yes, as we've often said, you know you're working in animation,
- 50:57Speaker 5: take advantage of that.
- 50:58Speaker 4: I think just him chasing him would have been bad
- 50:59Speaker 4: as post to just grabbing him by the throat and
- 51:01Speaker 4: burning him in the face. The chase him a shooting
- 51:04Speaker 4: fire would be a better funny visual, I think.
- 51:06Speaker 5: I think it certainly would have been. Yeah, yeah, picking
- 51:08Speaker 5: him up and just breathing fire in his face. Like
- 51:11Speaker 5: now you could say, oh, this is just taking the traditional,
- 51:15Speaker 5: tried and true Homer choking bark gag and putting a
- 51:19Speaker 5: clock in it. But yeah, I'm not sure played on
- 51:22Speaker 5: that way. I think the timing was just wrong. I
- 51:24Speaker 5: think just went on just maybe three or four seconds
- 51:26Speaker 5: too long.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Yeah, Homer is now at home with a cast on
- 51:29Speaker 4: his tongue, a massive cast by the way, how digs
- 51:32Speaker 4: his tongue fucking march Wow. Yeah, but him says he's
- 51:35Speaker 4: going to put a cramp and put a cramp in
- 51:37Speaker 4: your love making. I'm afraid of his tongue would be
- 51:41Speaker 4: in that cast for a few weeks.
- 51:42Speaker 5: Should me put something of a cramp in your love making?
- 51:46Speaker 2: If he wants me to do something, he'll just write
- 51:48Speaker 2: it down.
- 51:49Speaker 4: That's a really funny gag.
- 51:50Speaker 5: That's pretty good.
- 51:51Speaker 4: And even just throwing the way cramp now because he
- 51:53Speaker 4: tongue gets cramps, well, yours does, but but then writes
- 51:58Speaker 4: moren on his cast is a bit stupid. Is it complimentary? Yes?
- 52:01Speaker 4: It is runs outside. Hey, we go to look at
- 52:03Speaker 4: my comments like whatever, I don't think that whole ten
- 52:06Speaker 4: seconds that need to be there at all just felt silly.
- 52:08Speaker 4: You mean, the whole gag I think, I mean, yeah,
- 52:10Speaker 4: but it's fine. Then fine, everybody look at my compliment.
- 52:15Speaker 5: How much should yeah? You should have animated a satisfied
- 52:18Speaker 5: looking face.
- 52:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, him looking happy, knowing that at some point
- 52:22Speaker 4: he's going to realize it's not you'd have to actually
- 52:24Speaker 4: see it. Yeah. A few weeks later, we're at the
- 52:27Speaker 4: hospital and Hibbitt has removed. He goes, how do you
- 52:29Speaker 4: want removed? Yankee or peely and he puts up two
- 52:32Speaker 4: fingers to say peely.
- 52:34Speaker 5: It says the second one, yeah, yes, but instead he
- 52:36Speaker 5: reads it as oh, that's a wife a yankee. Yeah.
- 52:38Speaker 4: He yanks it off.
- 52:39Speaker 5: Not again. Not a bad gag. Yeah, I'm giving rob
- 52:43Speaker 5: some stick, but he's actually he's not going to few
- 52:46Speaker 5: out of the park here.
- 52:47Speaker 4: I gotta say this is it's so funny with season
- 52:49Speaker 4: twenty six, as I found so often we were doing
- 52:51Speaker 4: the reviews with Washington gun it's there whatever, and we
- 52:54Speaker 4: reviewed me go when you actually think about it?
- 53:02Speaker 5: What an accurate representation of when you really think about it? No,
- 53:06Speaker 5: I think we have said that, but pay attention to people.
- 53:11Speaker 5: I don't think we've given the episode as a whole pass.
- 53:14Speaker 5: I mean, I think there's I want to say, more
- 53:15Speaker 5: wrong with it than right. But the overall quality is
- 53:18Speaker 5: such that when you've got these little diamonds, there's a
- 53:21Speaker 5: lot of rough and there are some diamonds. Let's put
- 53:23Speaker 5: it that way.
- 53:24Speaker 4: Yeah, not the fairway, No, this one, this one landed
- 53:27Speaker 4: on the green. There's gas land on the green that
- 53:31Speaker 4: could be going forward.
- 53:32Speaker 5: So you're using a golfing metaphor.
- 53:34Speaker 4: So gags land on the green, gags land in the fairway,
- 53:36Speaker 4: gas land in the rough, and gags landing the bunker.
- 53:38Speaker 4: They're just bad.
- 53:40Speaker 5: Some gags just get shanked.
- 53:43Speaker 4: I love that word because whenever it does a bad kick,
- 53:45Speaker 4: he's like a shanked it.
- 53:49Speaker 5: Where did that feels like that hasn't been used in
- 53:51Speaker 5: football for all that long. It feels like it's a
- 53:53Speaker 5: recent development, because I mean, really.
- 53:55Speaker 4: I've always said it ever since I was a kid.
- 53:58Speaker 5: Because I was about to say when I was a kidding,
- 53:59Speaker 5: and then I realized that's not recently. It was never said,
- 54:03Speaker 5: you know when I was like, ah, yeah, it's.
- 54:04Speaker 4: Like you're stuffed it up. Yeah something, Yeah, out on
- 54:08Speaker 4: shanked it.
- 54:09Speaker 5: Yeah, But it seems it seems to me that only
- 54:11Speaker 5: in I guess the last ten twenty years or whatever.
- 54:13Speaker 4: I'm thirty six, and I said when I was six,
- 54:15Speaker 4: So thirty years.
- 54:15Speaker 5: Oh my god. Yet no, man, oh my god. But yeah, shanking.
- 54:21Speaker 4: But yeah, so he tried the cherry lollipop is too much,
- 54:23Speaker 4: Cherry tries a lemon, his face sucks in, and Hibbitt says,
- 54:26Speaker 4: I think I know what it is, but we should
- 54:27Speaker 4: do some expensive tests just to make sure.
- 54:29Speaker 5: Big big medicine. Yeah, but I loved it. It's like, well,
- 54:33Speaker 5: after the tests go, yes, you're you're a lot of
- 54:36Speaker 5: nice little bits in this as well, I mean, the
- 54:38Speaker 5: whole the new the newly developed taste.
- 54:42Speaker 4: Yeah it taste so he tastes to being burned off
- 54:44Speaker 4: he's got new ones now.
- 54:45Speaker 5: Looking a bit like an underwater lava lamp.
- 54:49Speaker 4: I love the coral.
- 54:50Speaker 5: Yeah, coral under it look like unless they call him
- 54:53Speaker 5: a coral forest.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Do you think I'm not too sure. We'll go with it.
- 54:55Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, let's say that, but yeah, I just go
- 54:56Speaker 5: with it. Just go with it, starring you know what
- 55:04Speaker 5: we're talking about. We're recycling gigs because we're environmentally friendly
- 55:07Speaker 5: here at four Finger discoun But that whole thing about
- 55:12Speaker 5: even a tackle could drive you insane.
- 55:14Speaker 4: So little tacos, I thin you're gonna sybout the Christmas cart.
- 55:20Speaker 4: I said Christmas cart this year because marg just likes
- 55:22Speaker 4: the visual of it all.
- 55:24Speaker 5: By the way, yeah, about two episodes in a row,
- 55:26Speaker 5: they've gone gone all in on tacos.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, because maybe it was Taco Wednesday when they
- 55:31Speaker 4: wrote these episodes. It almost makes me forget all about tackles,
- 55:38Speaker 4: taco flavor kisses, Southar check out our South Part podcast.
- 55:43Speaker 4: But Marge has boiled some all already out of the
- 55:45Speaker 4: beats for him. I can still taste over tones of
- 55:47Speaker 4: pink and Alisa comes in with some other food, which
- 55:50Speaker 4: is from the school cafeteria, mac and cheese, which has
- 55:52Speaker 4: absolutely no flavor at all. It looks like food, it
- 55:55Speaker 4: feels like food, but it has no flavor which brings
- 55:57Speaker 4: in other things. It's like tofu cubes, tidy Joe's cream
- 56:01Speaker 4: of steam. You guess them's. And who comes up with the.
- 56:05Speaker 5: Name of these the formerity comedy writers who are now
- 56:07Speaker 5: working at in the school cafeteria, particularly one who was well,
- 56:11Speaker 5: I think the alpha male there is the guy who
- 56:12Speaker 5: used to work for Charles in Charge.
- 56:14Speaker 4: Yeah, Charles in charg John tell us what it is?
- 56:15Speaker 5: Well explaining that explained what Charles in Charge is.
- 56:18Speaker 4: No one knows my age knows what the show is.
- 56:21Speaker 4: I know what it is. Got I've written here, but
- 56:22Speaker 4: I thought you might want to describe it.
- 56:24Speaker 5: I've never really watched it all that much.
- 56:25Speaker 4: It's just a sitcom that ran from ninety two.
- 56:27Speaker 5: Yeah, starring Scott eight ninety Sorry, yes, starring Scott Bayo. Yeah,
- 56:31Speaker 5: he was Charchy on Happy Days.
- 56:33Speaker 4: Yeah. Doing a description of the show, yeah, please give
- 56:35Speaker 4: me because I just a beautiful, well educated woman takes
- 56:38Speaker 4: up the job of babysitting three children of a wealthy couple. However,
- 56:42Speaker 4: the equations between them change. I don't know what that means. Wait,
- 56:47Speaker 4: that is the Google description of Charles in Charge. It
- 56:50Speaker 4: doesn't make any I looked at the show and I
- 56:52Speaker 4: was like, that is not what I expect.
- 56:53Speaker 5: No, because I thought that there's like an apartment building
- 56:57Speaker 5: or something, and maybe she's like a career woman and
- 56:59Speaker 5: she's got these kids, and Charles is some guy who
- 57:02Speaker 5: lives in the building and he actually sort of helps out.
- 57:04Speaker 4: Five seasons, one hundred and twenty six episodes. Yeah, it's
- 57:08Speaker 4: like a plot on the page of premise. The series
- 57:10Speaker 4: takes place in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Charles, who has
- 57:14Speaker 4: no given surname, is a student at Copeland College fictional
- 57:17Speaker 4: perhaps meant to represent Rodgers University, where main campus is
- 57:20Speaker 4: in New Brunswick, and it's nineteen years old when the
- 57:23Speaker 4: series begins. What the hell is that to do the
- 57:25Speaker 4: description of Google look at Honestly, that's what Google look at.
- 57:27Speaker 4: Google here Charles in Charge.
- 57:29Speaker 5: Look we called ai slop.
- 57:31Speaker 4: It just look a beautiful while educable and takes up
- 57:33Speaker 4: the job. Is that just wrong or is that just
- 57:36Speaker 4: like an episode storyline or something.
- 57:37Speaker 5: I think that sounds like an episode beyond a wiki.
- 57:41Speaker 4: This is that I was just reading that. What I
- 57:42Speaker 4: was read it was from the wiki.
- 57:44Speaker 5: Here we go. Okay, Ah, so eating a place to
- 57:47Speaker 5: live while attending school, Charles applies for a job working
- 57:49Speaker 5: for Stan and Jill Pembroke, an affluent couple in search
- 57:51Speaker 5: of a living house.
- 57:52Speaker 4: So he's the beautiful. So he's the beautiful, he's the manny.
- 57:56Speaker 4: He's the manny. Yeah. So I just assumed when that's
- 57:58Speaker 4: a beautiful you'd say handsome, right, I mean, could beautiful,
- 58:01Speaker 4: But it's Scott Bayer a beautiful But it says a
- 58:03Speaker 4: beautiful whild hecaded woman.
- 58:04Speaker 5: That's not right.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Scott Bao is not a woman as far as I know. Yeah.
- 58:08Speaker 5: I mean, look, we're all for you know, gender fluidity.
- 58:10Speaker 5: Here a four thing in discamp. But still it's just
- 58:13Speaker 5: what a random description, that's so odd.
- 58:16Speaker 4: Yeah, but he takes up the job of manny for
- 58:18Speaker 4: Jill and Stan Pembroke.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Yeah. Feel free to play the Charles in Charge theme,
- 58:22Speaker 5: which is sort of like a quintessential eighties sitcom theme.
- 58:25Speaker 5: There's a brand new boy in the neighborhood, something something certain,
- 58:29Speaker 5: thing something, and it ends with you, I want Charles
- 58:31Speaker 5: in charge of me, which is what this guy is saying.
- 58:33Speaker 5: It's like the guiding principal Charles and Charles Charles is
- 58:37Speaker 5: always in charge because rule.
- 58:39Speaker 4: It's a good rule to live behind. He's everywhere in
- 58:41Speaker 4: the shirt Still I'm the guy from Charles in Charge.
- 58:46Speaker 5: They've probably got the sign up in the writer's room.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Remember Charles is in charge, sum underlying charge, Yes, underline
- 58:56Speaker 4: Charles in charge.
- 58:58Speaker 5: No oneline, it is just I remember.
- 59:03Speaker 4: But then we get lunch Lady Doris and she's asking
- 59:06Speaker 4: for the lunch cards, and now Trust McNeil's doing the
- 59:08Speaker 4: voice here. This is apparently the first time that Doris
- 59:11Speaker 4: Groun Doris Grouse since she passed that lunch Lady Doris
- 59:14Speaker 4: has spoken. And I'm gonna be honest, I love Tress,
- 59:17Speaker 4: but I think either just replaced lunch Lady Doris or
- 59:20Speaker 4: just don't have her speak, because hearing her do this
- 59:23Speaker 4: was just I was. I didn't work for it. It
- 59:25Speaker 4: just didn't sound right at all. Just I think she's
- 59:27Speaker 4: done it. I thought she'd done it in the past.
- 59:31Speaker 4: And because I said that in IMDb, I think that
- 59:34Speaker 4: could be wrong because I'm pretty sure she says I
- 59:36Speaker 4: have no son, and that wasn't Doris grou that was
- 59:39Speaker 4: Trust doing it could be wrong though, But anyway, I
- 59:42Speaker 4: just don't think trust did are very good.
- 59:44Speaker 5: Well, I think Doris was sort of so it's an
- 59:46Speaker 5: overused word. Our power. Leonard Maltin hates the word, but
- 59:48Speaker 5: I think she was so iconic in that particular role. Yeah,
- 59:52Speaker 5: that you don't want to mess with it too much.
- 59:54Speaker 4: Just retire the character.
- 59:56Speaker 5: Yeah, great, a new lunch lady.
- 59:58Speaker 4: Also just have trust a new lunch late have crazy
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: cat leader to be a new lunch lady.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: Why not?
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: Why not give us something to do?
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: Just got plenty to do with those cats. You know
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: what that's like?
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: Yeah? Boy do I But Bart notices Homer here, who
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: says he will be eating all of his meals here
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: because he's able to eat them without going crazy. And
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: he says, don't worry, I'm not going to embarrass you.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: And then he has no money, so he has to
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: work off the food. She puts him on jello. He
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: takes his shirt off, singing some random song about jello.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: He says, bar can't have any because it will keep
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: him up all night, like when he got into bed
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: with Mummy and Daddy the other night and he takes
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: off his pants and getting too hot and don't worry.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: I'm not going to embarrass you. And this start very
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: Homovest's dignity scene.
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: It did a bit. Yeah, so we talked about diamonds
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: on the rock before these were kids.
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: Was in the bunker. The cubs cony is in the bunker.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: Ralph then says I used to date your daughter, buddy.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: I'm here to eat, not make interesting conversation. We already
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: discussed that. I like that, and asks Homer, why if
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: they hang out here, why do you have to be
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: here all the time. There's bad enough that I have
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: to be here for three days a week. He says,
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: I know when I'm not wanted. I wanted.
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: No.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: Then he leaves and he sits at the table with
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: Noah and his mum as he calls us with his
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: hot mum later on, and she tests him on state
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: capitols and oh my god, he's terrified of you, and
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: he's confused as to why she is. Now, why are
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: you sitting here with him? He's clearly good at school
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: and she's just making sure that he gets good grades.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: And I was like, it's not what we pay overpriced
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: wages of public teach us for. And she says, no, no, no,
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: She just call me over involved. But one day your
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: son will be my son's chauffeur. That's pretty big. That's
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: a pretty big diss. Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, And it
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: would hurt your ego as well. If someone's that to me,
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: I would be annoyed. I feel like it's I take
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: it personally.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: Absolutely. The video is off, unfortunately, but if you are
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: watching on YouTube or one of the many wonderful reels
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: and Instagram stories that Dano puts together, you'll notice it's
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: wearing his Space jam t shirt. He actually put his
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: hair on Michael Jordan's heart when he said. I took
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: that personally. I appreciate it. I thought it was good.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Well, call me over involved, But someday your son will
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: be my son's chauffeur.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: I hope your son enjoys being driven around by the
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: president of the United States.
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: Really, let's see what the future president's doing right now.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: You don't see many presidents doing that. Maybe he'll be
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: j you know.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: At the end, and then we see Bart doing the
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: spaghetti in his nose, and I was like, Bart would
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: not do this. No for the sake of why are
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: you making him? Ralph Wigham, Yeah, it doesn't make any sense,
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: does it?
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: I mean another sense is that he needs him to
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: be this way for the sake of the story that
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: Rob's trying to tell. But this shouldn't have been the
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: story they're trying to tell.
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: That's correct, be better, do better. By the way, the
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: parents actually show up at schools the helicopter in this fashions,
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: they do not.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: Oh fetchesn't it. I hadn't actually thought about that? But
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: yet bit far fetched.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: Again, this episode is full of big stretches.
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: But Homer also sees all this is way. She tells
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: him that you need to be a helicopter parent, need
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: to do more helicopter parentinga and that's where he gets
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: the idea. Then he sees he's look, well, I've got
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: a backup plan, and it's called Lisa. And turns out Lisa.
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: She says, how can she be successful if she's not popular?
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: Do you mind if I join you? Well that depends.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: What are you eating? Baked potato side salad?
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: And well we're having cold shoulder? Is this seat taking No?
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: Go ahead, take it take it way over there.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: It's so cruel, And they take that chair over there.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Just the visual Lisa sitting in the corner by herself
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: or what she's going. God, I hope that's not my
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: kid one day.
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: But these are burns worthy of a character who later
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: appears in this episode, Oscar Wild.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: I would say, yeah, Oscar. Oscar had a.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Whole slew of one day.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: It was a catty fellow. Then we get Homer. He
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: gets home and Margine super relaxed, and he asked where
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: she was, and she's not speaking very well. She's just
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: on her own little worst. He tries to do it
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: via possibilities in his head and he gets the skin
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: and a six stecker. Soe, that makes sense and moving on.
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: I think that's just a crush to just move the
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: story along, right, I think so? Yeah. Homer is worried
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: that the kids will be failures if they don't if
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: he doesn't get more involved, or they don't get involved
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: in their lives, and he doesn't want them working for Noah,
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: but March likes the name Noah, and Homer just realizes he, well,
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: if she's going to be in her own world, I
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: guess it's up to me. So he asked the mayonnaise
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: for some extra how much like Popeye would ask spinach.
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: And again that's a random visual gag where he just
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: eats all this mayonnaise and feels sick in the stomach,
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: and that's it.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: I guess, so yeah, And I mean again, there are
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: some gigs that going a little bit too long, and
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: there are some gags that are weirdly cut short, like
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: you know, when he has all that mayo and all
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: of a sudden and something like a split second and
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: then that's it. And also I'm going to look. I know,
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: mayonnaise isn't exactly the most the spiciest of the condiments,
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: but still doesn't have hyper sensitive taste buds.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: I mean that is true. Maybe that's why maybe.
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: A shit ton of mayo, I think it would still
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: yeah on your virgin taste.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: I thought we've completely forgotten that story, isn't it. It's
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: like we're completely forgot moving on. So now at school
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: and he sees all the other helicopter parents. Apparently there's
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: just tons of parents now at the school looking in
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: the classroom. It's just for the sake of the story,
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: and he sees Bart being dumb again. There's no future
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: in that. Missus K says that on Monday, there is
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: the Bolts of Wood model building competition first prizes one
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: thousand dollars towards your college fund, sponsored by the American
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: Bolswood Society. That yeah, yeah, and Homer says, that's what
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: my house is worth. I know what the point of
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: that was, really, But Bart doesn't know what he's going
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: to build. So Hama looks for some sort of time
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: for me to take control. Looks on various posters on
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: the water, gets some inspiration, and he sees the Eiffel Tower,
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: too obvious they see out of space, need or something,
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: they need something from Earth, and he sees the blood
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: Drive tomorrow You're no help, and the Washington Monument, which
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: is perfect according to Homer. So he makes the paper
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: plane with the words Washington Monument written and it throws
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: it into Bart. He reads it out and finally he's
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: outed the question from missus Kay. Then Ralph's just randomly there,
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: He says, I like Bart's answer, what are you doing
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: here in this class? And really swept me in here? Yeah,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: just excuse for a visual gag. I guess so many
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: scenes are ending with bizarre moments. Yeah, don't need to
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: be there. Yeah, it's sort of like weird segues or
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: bits of connective tissue. That's all we're trying to say
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: at the start, Like, there is definitely a really good
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: episode in here somewhere, but it's just patted out with
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: this random shit.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: Yeah. I mean, I love the idea of someone in
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: the writer's room or someone higher up, as Simpson's HQ,
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: saying helicopter parents. Wouldn't it be interesting if you know
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: someone as seemingly disinterested and uninvolved and disengaged as Homer. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: I got the ideas like helicopter parenting, you know, or
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: something happens with the kids, like I need to be
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: more involved, you know. Oh I hear about this helicopter
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: pairing and now I'm way too involved. Yeah. Yeah, it's
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: a good concept. It's a really good sort of launch pad.
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: But yeah, I want to say this says failure to launch.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: I'll just say there's some diamonds in the rough was
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: in the bunker. We're cading some terms here on this episode.
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: I feel we are, indeed hope we're running these down
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: stre I certainly hope we're recording.

- 1:07:50Speaker 5: Blao Cock jown bloo cock.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: John Hopeything gives Lisa The Chicks with Click's book to
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: help her get popular, and she says, I'll be the
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: kind of person that I hate if I do this, though,
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: and Howmo says Country was founded by clics, Continental Congress,
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: the dolphins, they swimming clicks. These are my two examples.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: These my two examples. How often do you do you
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: have examples? You go? These are two? It's more than one.
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: I'm trying to I'm branching into copywriting. And one of
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: the things I've learned about is ab variants.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: Do you know, I don't know what that is. This is.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: Like anything, It's basically we've got a secret language. And
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: that's secret language is actually, oh you mean you just
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: mean this? And so yeah, when I'm learning about ab variance,
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: it was like, oh, so I'm basically offering you two options.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: You can have this or this.
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: That's like Nicholas. She has her office speak because I'm
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: so I've been soling out of the office. She has
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: everything's an acronym. Now, oh yeah, I'm like, I don't
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: know what you mean when you say these things. Yeah,
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: speak words please, everything has to be abbreviated. Yeah.
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: Now, I don't know if it's in The Big Short
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: or Wolf of Wall Street, but yeah, they basically say
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: we talk like this, so you think you can't do
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: what we do? Oh, it's just this.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: What's so Nicola was doing she was doing a job
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: interview and she was to go and she goes, yeah,
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: they just ask me like KP I S and CPUs
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: and old and I'm like, it's ABC's and I'm like,
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: I know what some of these things mean, but can
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: you just how did it go? Use? It's like we
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: knew what I said. We watched it out at the
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: moment and they're saying all these big words like dumb,
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: a damn for me, please, sir. It stands for emergency room.
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: But quite often I'll be running in and I'll go,
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: we've got a m v A. It's a motivehicle accident.
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: I'm like, you have to sort of like yeah, I'm like, okay,
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: I can work that out. But they just like, but
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: even there, yeah.
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: Even then with that, it's kind of like the way
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: they're delivering, Oh, that sounds serious, like, Okay, we're going
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: to book you in for an MRI. Okay, coloney, you're saying, yeah,
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: you're not. You're not saying that. They're kind of like,
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: you need it right now, we'll book you in. Okay,
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: I'm not too.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: We can't. Yeah, we need to crash. That sound pretty
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: when the music starts serious business. We watch an episode
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: last night that is arguably the most intense forty five
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: minutes of television I've probably ever watched.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: Since the last one because you told me about the
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: one with the gang shooting.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a moment. This is just a fully
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: fledged just edgy your seat just made me anxious the
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: entire time. It's called Love Labor's Lost, and it's when
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: this one and it's the main what's the main character's
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: name Mark Green. Mark Green has like Anthony, but it's
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: a top gun fact. Yeah, it has to deliver a
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: baby because you're not gonna make it. And it's just
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: I won't spoil anything cause I s thirty years on,
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: but it was if you've been through the ordeal of
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: your wife giving birth and having to sort of just
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: allowed and things get not going.
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: It sounds like worst case scenarios.
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: He's not going to You have a plan and then
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: you realize in the moment, okay, plans gone.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: Yeah, oh shit, we better play.
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: You stand over to hear what we do it and
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: you just have to stand back helplessly and watch it
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: all unfold. I was getting like PTSD from it.
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: Even when we relaunched TV launch Pod. Yeah, we'll do
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: the pilot, Yeah we have to.
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it. We tried the pip Yeah, sorry,
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: it is.
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: Nothing's going to recapture that magic.
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: It's just I watched well we got loft half an
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: hour in a Nicola, looked at me and she goes
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: too many quips and I was like, too many quips.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: Oh no, it's just a bunch of not bratty's bratty something.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: The word just smart as.
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: People younger than news.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's just and they're equipping at each other,
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: and I'm like, you're a team. Why does everything have
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: to be a smart ass quip at each other? Like
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: why does television medical drummers have to always be smart
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: asses to each other? Like in er, they're a team,
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: they like each other, they hang out after work, they're friends. Anyway,
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: I watched it, I was like, oh, I had such
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: good high hopes for the Pitka.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: Clearly we're not doing that on TV. We'll talk.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: There was a dig loving on the first episode, and
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: I was like, oh, I was not expecting that.
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: No one likes a dig loving.
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: Not good.
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: Look, I was. I had my fingers gloves on this
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: morning because it's cool here in July. I was reluctant
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: to take those off. Yeah, imagine another layer.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: Not thinking about it. No, not good. But yeah, so
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: he's given her the book.
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: Again, a relatively saucy gag because it's sort of a
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: play on an antiquated phrase that is just very out
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: of fashion in twenty twenty five. Yeah, use your imagination
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: or do your own research. I'm not going to say it.
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: But I was with two thousand and nine so in
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: the moment.
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: Oh, look, the Simpsons probably probably would use it.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: Yeah, but then we we have him. He demonstrates it,
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: basically says that these will work, all right, So he
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: goes to Mo. He demonstrates on the rats aka the barflies,
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: and he shows off the unsold, which the insults disguise
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: as compliments, and he says to Lenny, takes a lot
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: of courage to suspenders when you're not in the circus.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: And I just as mean as these were. I just
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: thought that was very funny. Oh yeah, and the reactions
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: were pretty spot on.
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: Oh absolutely, this is basically negginggging yeah.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: Yeah, see it works and unsolts just the beginning. There's
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: also invitations hate hugs, spamming with faint praise and hey
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: everyone when I get frozen yogurt. Yeah, I'm sorry, Mo,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: I didn't mean everyone everyone. Hope you don't mind.
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: No, that's all right, I didn't self booze. They probably
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: wouldn't even come here, And that.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: My dear girl, is called the Toledo take back listen.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: I don't want to have anybody's feelings though, And then
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: I froze back on her. Yeah you're right, maybe you're
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: not ready for this book. I think it's more of
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: a bigger girl thing. And she's like, oh no, I
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: need I need, I need it. She tries it out
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: on line and carn, one of you said something bad
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: about the other.
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: Just the real entry mind mess with you?
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: Yeah, where Crafty Arts Arts and Crafts buys a lot
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: of airplane in glue, but no models, as wise guy says,
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: what's going on there? So he buys a Messer Schmidt
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: and two sixty two, a sixty seven ssgto and an
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: Alfred E. Newman interchange with interchangeable arms. Strows me in
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: the bin on the way out. I want that Alfred E. Newman.
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: Well, I mean you've got a lot of lego around
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: the place, and also logo whatever it's called from Lepon.
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: Are you like a like a scale model kind of guy.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: Though never have been. I've got lots. So I bought
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: When I used to work at the old PC, there
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: was a board game and it was Star Wars like miniatures.
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: It was got x ME miniatures or something like that,
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: and but the actual miniatures of the ships were really
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: really cool. So I just bought the ships because like,
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: I just like these models, like the little mini and
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: many of Falcon it's really detailed, so I've bought those.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: But when it comes to building miniatures.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't have the patience or that, or the motors.
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: I don't have the skills, mate, Yeah, likewise motor skills,
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: but something like that. I remember when I was a kid,
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: like a little kid, single digits, and back in those
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: dark ages, you'd sort of get give. It's like that
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: when you're a kid. I mean, you're having your birthday
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: party and your close friends know, oh, we'll get Guy
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: Star Wars action because because that's what he likes. But
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: you've also invited people who are sort of beat your
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: friends and they don't exactly know what you're like. All
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: their parents have said this is popular or on sale,
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: Guy might like this. I ended up with like a
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: couple of model kids. I'm like, no one, no kids
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: do models kids anymore? Thank you so much. I appreciate
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: the gift. It's very very nice of you. Yon gets
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: thrown in the pile and gathered dust.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: Never never use nineteen seventies equivalent of marketplace. That's where
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: it went, essentially the back of the cabin or bobin.
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: Apologies. The people who gave me gifts that I didn't like.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: I've always thrown out these kids home and butter in
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: there to try and buy some bals of wood for
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: the monument that they're going to build. What scale you're using,
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: what Kalonama were in? None of your business, He says
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: he was at one five hundredth of the size. I
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: had no idea what any of that meant until I
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: went at PC, because we used to sell all the
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: figures and stuff that were like a scale. But then
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: Skinner mocks them, saying that that's uninspired, and it's basically saying,
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: I don't care. My son's a loser.
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: He's got sort of a point. You look at the
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: Washington Monuments like it's just a.
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: It's just a redtailo point on the top, or as
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: one of my favorite Simpsons Dads gags, we're looking at
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: it in Washington and Marge whispers in home is he oh,
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: March grow up? But they decided, well, there's a there's
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: a school of thought that is basically designed like that.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: It's basically saying to visiting diplomats or ambassadors or other
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: parts of the world, it's like with a big swing
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: and dick on the block. Here apparently we know what
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: the funk we're doing a lot of.
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: Places in Washington are actually designed like the design to intimidate.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: But then Homer asked the wise guy, what's the most
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: challenging one to build Westminster Abbey? So he announces to
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: all the parents, children, and childless widows in the store,
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: and that's pretty spot on.
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: It makes sense that scans.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: I like the when he announced it. One guy's like
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: prepared to be frustrated, and he says, how hard can
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: it be? You're just going to follow the instructions, and
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: he can and follow the instruction that's on the door. Yes,
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: he pushes, he's pushing the pull door and eventually he pulls,
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: pulls eventually just kicks the window in and climbs out.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: When you see people do this, right, you help them,
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: But you gotta try and do it in the way.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: It's not going to embarrass them because we've all been there,
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: We've gone I didn't read the size, Yeah, but one
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: of us seeople. I'm like, will they figure it out?
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: Look?
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: How long do you wait before you go? I don't
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: think I've ever been in that situation. I have, Yeah,
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: I say it one time to warm and she's like
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: a pull and she's like, oh, pulls it and walks off.
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: I tell she was dying inside of embarrassment.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: But are you a helpful person, like at the supermarket
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: or something in what way? Well, say, you've got a
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: little old lady who you can see, she's like on
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: tippytoes trying to get something off a high shelf. Do
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: you can I help you with that?
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: I say, for any lady, no, Yeah, I will obviously
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: always help you. I've helped ladies pushed their trolley to
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: the car and kind of stuff.
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: Yeah, it feels good, doesn't it.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: It does. It's done my job for the day.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: We've got my calmer back in alignment.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: I do it usually by just giving a couple of
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: bucks to the guy that's begging at the front. That's
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: how I feel better.
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: I have done that every once in a while, and
- 1:18:14Speaker 5: I did. I did want the other No, a couple
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: of months ago. Actually where you know, there's a doe
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: that from the front of the woolies. I had a
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: quick chat with him, said here right man, as oh, yeah,
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: cal on a bit, and I said, you want a coffee?
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: Actually end up having to go like three blocks to
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: grab a coffee and a pastry, took it back to him,
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: gave him.
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: Mate. Yeah, I prefer to buy food for them or whatever.
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, yeah, but oh look, I don't think of myself.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: It's too much of a bleeding heart. But I mean,
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: particularly around this time of year, when you see someone, yeah,
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: out front of somewhere, it's like, holy shit, you're going
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: to be adding this tonight.
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: Look the question.
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: No, that's the thing. Yeah, maybe I'm a sucker.
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: There was one.
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not going to say he's fifty bucks.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: No, no, but there's one guy that one the strand
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: here near out near our house, and he's sitting there
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: and you had the full gear, you know, you had
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: like the dirty clothes, dirty hands, like the gloves that
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: were sort of like ripped. He's pay me the iPad
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: and I'm like, mate, you're killing the gimmick.
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: Here's my here's my peep.
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: I've ben if you're scan the Q.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean I think it's just in at
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: in human nature, inheriting human nature that go, oh man,
- 1:19:30Speaker 5: it's getting down to like two degrees. This person is
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: going to be outside From a couple of bucks, then
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: if I can get a half.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: A roast chicken that's still on the sailing side or whatever,
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: the one I have. The dogs always get me well,
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: of course that's like that. Yeah, it's like a hell move.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Yeah that's a real side. I don't care about two legs,
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: but four legs. Yeah, a little sachet of what's a
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: dog for pal pal that's the that's the the go
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: to it or Chum.
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: I think Powell came first and then Chum.
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: Yeah maybe was like we can't have power friends a
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: little on the not buddy, too many letters. Yeah, chum
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: pale works. See chump can be taken as friend and
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: also just sounds good. That's rhymes of young chum. That's true.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: It's a good word to say. But poll, yeah that works.
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: The hell pedigree pedigree.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: I'm just imagining like some don draper guy. Oh, we've
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: got our terrific pet food. It's called Smithers pet chow.
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: It's like, yeah, it's good. Let me let me run
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: something by you. Pale eyes, whiskers, it's a great name.
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, and they don't exist in a vacuum.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: I mean yeah, sorry, we've got one of our AFL
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: football players and renaming whiskers great.
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: He already had a nickname. What a good name go,
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: And honestly, that's just a really good brand management before
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: brand management even existed.
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: Before everyone everyone mocked him. You look back now, you're like,
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: what a genius move that was?
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: Who would have thought that Gary Butderhawky, who.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: Greatest mullet in the history of football.
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: Terrific footballer by all accounts of terrific Fellow didn't seem
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: like the sharpest tool in the shed hard nut, though,
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: hard nut? Who would have thought that? He was? Just
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: a genius a brand what a lord Whiskers Whiskers hocking
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: just the one match, right.
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: Something like that? Yeah, yeah, I had to call him
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Whiskers for no commentating the game brilliant.
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: He had like a twenty twenty five mindset in nineteen ninety.
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: Five because he played for the Geelong Cats, which is
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: what cats. Yeah, Whiskers everyone, everyone is going to make
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: it into the episode. Everyone laughed, but he laughed. I've
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: still got the label my name cabinet. She's like, I
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: was still in the camp of butdhhocking on the fucking
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: label of Whiskers cat food for that week you give
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: buy whisk his kafee with Butha's face on it.
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: How did we get to talking about this?
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: Oh, supermarket asking if I was nice?
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: And then we were nice to people outside occasionally those
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: people have the dog.
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: Can't some pound open the door?
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: They got out of the door.
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: Yeah, just relaxing.
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: Again.
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: Homer gets home and he says he's hosting a decorate
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: your own cell phone party in the backyard. Brittany and
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: Caitlyn arrive, so he tries to spray himself with spray tan,
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: but he sprays himself with ant poison, and again with
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: nowhere and scenes with random guys that go nowhere. But
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: we're at the party and they've got all the Ryanstones,
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: tassels and stickers, everything to make a one hundred dollar
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: phone look like a five dollars to one hundred doll
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: the phone.
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: You say, wow, those weather days, lady.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: We've got it all Rhyin stones, stickers, cassels, everything to
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: make those one hundred dollars phones look like five dollar toys.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Lissa, this party is twisted. You are fierce.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: I never called fierce before.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Strident hectoring has been tossed around.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Let me take a picture of you from my cell phone.
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: I'll put you on my desktop. I'm going to make
- 1:23:09Speaker 5: you my friend on Facebook. Please confirm can.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: Fam I am such a great parents to both my kids? Hello,
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: little girl?
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: Who do you belong to?
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: This is probably my least favorite moment in the entire
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: episode because everything that I just hate about the modern Homer,
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: this gag wasn't needed. You can have this same kind
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: of moment with Maggie being jealous. Just see sineye from
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: Maggie and have him say something like sorry, keep my
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: services of eaten up or just something, just something, something
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: him not knowing who Maggie is. I'm like, you've done.
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: You're trying to make a scene. The story is that
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: Homer gives a shit about his kids. Why would you
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: then throw this in there? It unravels everything you're trying
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: to do.
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: Just a visual gag of him sort of walking back,
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: sort of walking backwards, uh, surveying you know, his good
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: work because of that, and he nearly steps on Maggie.
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: Maggie sort of scrambles out of the way. It's like,
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: oh my, it was a good father to all my children.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: Two episodes ago ended with Maggie and Homer having a
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: sweet moment.
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: At the end two episodes ago.
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: I know it's all about living in a vacuum, but
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: why this this gag here of hom not remembering his
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: kids and names knowing they exist, is just so levels,
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: so many levels are stupid. It is that you just
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: you do not need it.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: As we recently explained Daniel, there's no such thing as cannon. Yeah,
- 1:24:27Speaker 5: but I know.
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: We also discussed I don't think this is necessarily canon.
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: This is just it's just.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: In that episode, was like, yeah, you don't necessarily need
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: to have canon, but you do need internal logic. Yeah,
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: and this is a betrayal of it and a contravening
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: of that internal logic.
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just I don't know, just annoyed. I was like,
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: why stupid? Didn't need it? Again, a funny scene ending
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: with a stupid moment, all of those in this episode.
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: Yeah, and if you don't stick the landiere, it ruins
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: the gig that went beforehand. It does.
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: Yeah, hoving the offers to build the thing for bars
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: stand back a little further, little further, don't you do it?
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: It doesn't even want him to watch because he thinks
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: it's a little bit creepy. So having then as asleep
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: as he's doing it, and he dreams about talking to
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: the ghost of Jeffrey Chaucer because he's buried in Westminster
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: Abbey and of Cleaves. She says Butt needs to do
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: it by himself, and then Oscar Wilde arrives with various
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: Bodo liners. There are two tragedies in life, not getting
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: what one once, and the other is getting it. Experience
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: is simply the name doesn't make any sense. Experiences simply
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: the name we give to our mistakes. That makes sense.
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: And these days man knows the price of everything and
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: the value of nothing. And just like what happened to
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: the boo, happened a boo? Just scare me? Just And
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: Homer wakes up and he's been smashing the model in
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: his sleep basically because he's trying to get the ghosts
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: to go away. They arrive at school and Homer says,
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: when we could smash the real one? And so it
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: looks just like this, But there's no flights to England
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: until five, So it's time for the contest next Top
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: Model building contest. Milhouse has built as you said this season.
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: Also that just Little Kenny, that's your show. What's it?
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: One time? Because it's funny, because it's true, because you know,
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: I'm sure parents have said that, like that's that show
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: that you like, oh min, Yeah, but it wasn't really
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: a need for random?
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and why.
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: Can and not funny enough to be there to be
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: so random?
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: You could have been better. This is where the bullies
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: could have actually worked. You could have had Jim and go, hey, Kennie,
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: it's your show because don't changey shit. That would be
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: funny as opposed to a random mum and random character.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: We don't know. Why do we care about Kenny in
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: his viewing house anyway? So Millhouse has built the CCTV
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: building in Beijing. Martin Brazilian, as you said, you've listened
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: them all charmers, and walks past them all, says they're
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: all great than he sees Barts And clearly they've all
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: been the case of meddling parents the previous one. So
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: he wanted to Bart because at least you followed the rules.
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: And Homer says, this helicopter is taking off a bar says,
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: Snow stopped the hovering because Homer, you made this. My
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: dad made this, and he pleased to parents to let
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: them do it theirselves. You know, you stop doing this
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: as what skua one said I saw him too, and
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: he uses the quote about the which one does he
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: used the experience of the experience. Yes, that's right home,
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: and then apologizes and he says the anything I'll do
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: for you now is co signed for a gun. And
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: then he sees gets a text from Lisa I liked
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: this be here. I hate this.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: Because she doesn't know people are still working at.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: Lingo the abbreviations and whatnot. People are still.
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: Using Lemeo and Lowell all the time. I feel like
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: people not use Lowell all that often anymore, not lamau.
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: But I think lol is still maybe. I think LOL
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: has been grandfathered in kind of yeah, but I think
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: people are more inclined to use emoticons now probably Yeah.
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: Actually that's a really good point. I honestly don't remember
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: the last time I tyed LOL.
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: Because a smiley's face or whatever emodicon used really sort
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: of tries to show off this is exactly what I'm
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: trying to say with that word low that's correct.
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm laughing, and it's usually the yeah, the face
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: that's going yeah, but also tilted a little bit yeah.
- 1:27:43Speaker 4: Because loll can be I'm laughing with you. Or at you,
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: and sometimes it will be misconstrued, and that's what a
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: lot of arguments start. Or as I said with my mum,
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: she'd write a loll with everything because she thought it
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: was lots of love.
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: That's right, who did the loll? Lots of lovely? Oh
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: is your mom?
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: I'll see you, I'll see your Elie's party. Loll. We're
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: still going for dinner tonight? Long, I think, so you do?
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: Do you want dinner? What are you saying about happy birthday?
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: Do you think I meant that one?
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: She then looks miserable, or he looks outside and she
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: looks miserable out the window, and she says, there's too
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: hard staying this shallows hard work. Yeah, hard work. Yeah.
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: Homer then says the best thing he can do as
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: a parent now is simply check out. No no, no, no,
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: there's a middle ground. No no, everything is either on off.
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: Well, as you said before, a balance, Well, it's all
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: about balance.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: That's what it was because of this line that I
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: sort of had the whole balance. Balance should have been
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: the theme of this episode. Balance him learning to eat
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: bright Food's balanced. It could have worked. Maybe we can
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: just ride an episode. We should spec we should do
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: a spec. We should definitely do some specs, right, Yeah, absolutely,
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: let's do some Yeah. But he gets home. He's sad
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: and disappointed because he tried to fix his kids' lives,
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: but it just led them to rich and rewarding decisions
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: of their own. And Margo's a place he can really relax.
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: The dog matches and the cellar, No, she gave that
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: away and got stuff with cash and it costs with
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: them in the sauna and she pours some beer on
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: the Stones's head, so it's beer in the air. Feeling better,
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: super Dad and she and then he says, if I
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: feel like I've died and gone to hell, And we
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: get the smoke and we see the silhouettes of her
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: and him with the towels off, and I was like, oh, damn,
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: march I was about.
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: To say it was like, that's a pretty sexy moment
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: to end on. Yeah, Marge with the hair down. I
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: was always like, damn.
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: And we get Westminster Abbey there with the exterior hysterious
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: shop and Oscar Wilse ghost comes out and I think
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: it's a Nutcrackers playing over the top something like that
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: like that, and then we get.
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: An a cappella version of the Simpsons theme. Yeah, sung boy,
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: who was I think the group was called Canvas or Canvas,
- 1:29:41Speaker 5: but also the arrangement was gone by a guy named Open.
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: Pronounce to this greatly Cason's Swindle, which may be the
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: greatest name in history, name Cason Swindle. If I was
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: writing a screenplay like an Aussie Ocean's eleven or something,
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: it's like an our head guy's case and Swindle'll be like,
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: I'm sorry, go away, that's too obvious. But it's a
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: great name. Haysten Swindle. That's a good name for you.
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: Couldn't do it for like a someone who's trying to
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: like cheat people good year, like an artist. This swindles
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: in the name.
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: Imagine if you that is your actual name and you
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: go into real estate.
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: Yeah, no one's believing you.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: Yeah, this place isn't about to fall down. I'm sorry,
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: Caseon Swindle. Can I believe you? Is the manager of
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: JB buying new TV? I was going to ask the manager,
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: mister Swindle, but that was But it was a nice
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: little version of the I initially thought because it's it's
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: rather the sort of blurry video footage of them, and
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: I was looking at going. I thought one of them
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: might be Yardley Smith. Okay, yeah I didn't. Sorry, I
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: didn't do my research. Who's in Canada. I don't think
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: it was.
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: I think this is This seems to me like one
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: of those things where maybe someone's sent it in or whatever.
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: I like that, let's just use this. This is true.
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: Yeah, so I use over the closing credits and that
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: is there of your father knows worst good story in
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: there somewhere, good moments throughout, but a lot of random
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: moments are sort of just attract from the good moments
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: as well.
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: Look, I'm going to say fifteen percent diamonds eighty five
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: percent rough. The rough was not necessarily all that rough.
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: I fine, it was more better than that. But yeah,
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: this I enjoyed this, Okay, but that's not a complete
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: Doing the critique made me really put a spotlight on
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: the moments that bothered me more. They didn't bother me
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: in the moment, but critiquing it, I was like, yeah,
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: that really doesn't make any sense. I guess what that's
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: what it critics for exactly, Ryan, Yes, So we focused
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: me highlight the things that are working, and we hilight
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: things that aren't working. It just seemed like there are
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: a lot more things that didn't work that I didn't
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: realize when I was watching it doing this, But yeah,
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: not terrible. So just it's there.
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: It's there, Yeah, and occasionally you're glad that it's there.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: Gave us an idea for a specscript, Sure did.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Yeah, we'll get cracking on that after Well, we got

- 1:32:22Speaker 4: What did you learn from the episode, Mister Davis That
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: I thought I was.
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: A Yankee kind of guy. It turns out I'm a
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: Peelee kind of guy.
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: Appeally, Yeah, really, I'm more of a Yankee if I've
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: got a band aid, I yike, really, really? By do
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: you pause and wait and then do a little bit
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: more than I'm a hairy guy, you have very hair.
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: I'm a wookie. Louise knows that too, she should do
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: and how? And I guess I just I revel in
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: the pain. And it's also a cheap wax in this.
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: So do just get bandaids whacking on your arms and
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: go shook?
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: Sure?
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: Do we'll about your chest? Would you ever get the
- 1:32:54Speaker 4: forty year old version style chest wax like that?
- 1:32:57Speaker 5: Years ago when I married, before the wedding, I thought
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: I'll spruce myself up for my bride to bee and
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: I got waxed. I got my back wax. I didn't
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: get my chest waxed. And men, we're strong, we're powerful.
- 1:33:12Speaker 4: We're soft, we're WIMPs. Yeah, you know all this, but
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: but also look that's not the first of wall that. Yeah,
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: I know, the man flu is nonsense. We just we've
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: just got the flu. All right, Oh we've got a cold,
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: but don't feel that great. It's something said what we have.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: It's how we react to the flu.
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: Well, I like to think I'm quite practical about it
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: when that happens, Like, oh, I feel like a cold
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: coming on. I'm not going to be like, oh no,
- 1:33:34Speaker 5: please bring meat chicken shoop. I'm like, honey, I think
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: I've got a cold coming on. I'm going to take
- 1:33:38Speaker 5: the day and just try and knock it on the
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: head because, as we all know, the best cure rest. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: I've never been one to like em. I'm good I've
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: got a cold anything like that. Having said that, yeah,
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: that forty year old virgin thing where.
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: It's like, oh I got to hit my hair ripped
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: out of my body way way wait wait, wow.
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: I got it done. I was bracing myself for absolute pain.
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: I was like, well, that's unpleasant, but yeah, I've had worse.
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: It's kind of like when I got a tattoo. Everyone goes,
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: it's going to hurt so much.
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: I got it.
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: I went, I know, various pace plays on your body
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: hurt more? Yes, oh god it. I was like, this
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: is not that bad. It just feels a bit stingy.
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: What Yeah, It's like that's all right.
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: The greater pain such as this is like, oh, I've
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: got to keep my arm in this place for this
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: amount of time. It's like can I can? I He's
- 1:34:25Speaker 5: like not the middle of it, so uh yeah, So
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: I had the wax like that's actually not that bad.
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: The lovely Oheze recently was like chest hair is getting
- 1:34:36Speaker 5: on a little unruling, So yes, I fix it. I
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: did a little bit of man escaping, and now that's
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: much better off of these weird I'm a hairy chest, right,
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: you've got these weird.
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: I've got a gummy bear. I have hair on my
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: back right, but it's not I wouldn't look at this
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: and go, this is a hairy back.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: It's just patches of hair. I've got that as well.
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: I'm pretty hairy on the back, but there are certain
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: patches that are like now, I don't know if that's
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: oh your shirts three dart has wrapped up against it,
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: and now you maybe you've warned away. I don't know.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: You get hair on the top of your arm sort
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: of here's the thing.
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: I shave it.
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: I get away from me.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: I don't recall it sort of growing. I just I
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: just woke up one day and it was there. I
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: remember when the first name I was mortified having a
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: hair and shoulds I won't be able to wear it. Yes,
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: we just call the wife. And then it's like, oh yeah,
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: if I go to the beach and take my shirt,
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: look at that, look at the freak over once.
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: This is years ago. I you know, it's be like
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: really in shape, playing footy out, took my shirt and
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: then someone's like, oh, you're so white, it's blinding me.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: And I was like, I was just for the rest
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: of the day, I'm gonna put my shirt on now.
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: Oh yeah, that's the thing.
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: It ruined me, absolutely yeah.
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: And I had that combinations because I was I'm pale
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: as milk and hairy as hell. It's like, who's ever
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: going to want to touch any of this? Who can
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: even look at it? Look away?
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: I remember when I first met Nikola, I wasn't having
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: hair on my chest. She brought that. She gave me
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: a hairy chest.
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: She made a man.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: But I said to her, do me to shave it off?
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: She goes, no, no, I prefer you have an a hairy chest. Okay, cool,
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: This is turning in.
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: A real true confession time. This is what you're learning
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: in this episode?
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: What have we learn about each other?
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: Have even got the dad? What Dad? I've learned yet?
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: But yeah, in the in the times when I've been
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: single and you start to see someone, or even you
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: get lucky at the club and you take someone. I
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: was like, when I remove my clothing or at the
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: very least my shirt, are they just going to be repulsed?
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: I got a lot of hair there, don't switch the
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: lights off? Had that dog get into the bed?
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Well?
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: I learned that Marge is a very generous lover. Apparently correct, Yeah,
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: Marge is the whole package, right.
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: Well, it is is marg or is Homer now?
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: Because she says, basically, they're implying that Home usually does
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: He implied that Homer is usually doing the deed, which
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: is why their sex life is going to be cramped
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: for a while. She said, no, if you just want
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: some hitters to write it down, because does Homer actually
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: do that? Or is she just you know, she's just
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: thinking I'm always the one giving. I'm the generous lover.
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: Okay, because it sounds like Homer's being a generous guy
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: as well. Although we're sending in the barbary.
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: Love, he's just yet that's the one good trait of
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: going downtown, one of the best traits of this relationship
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: and the Simpsons in general is just how good their
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: sex life is and all the faults of the characters.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: Certainly no middle class family. They haven't got a great deal,
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: but they love each other and they get it on.
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: Get it on, yeah, exactly, Rod Forward, your names will.
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: Be all right.
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: It is now time for the Guy Davis New Name
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: Championship for season twenty. The current lead the board stands
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: at this In first position we have Jared Hornby Jared
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: on twenty points.
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: What is his name?
- 1:37:46Speaker 4: You need me Yared, thank you. In second position we
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: have Phil Hawkins on that Jay yeah, on nineteen points.
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: And in third position we have Brian Hughes m Hughes.
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: It's important to point out that his name is actually
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: Brian Hughes, not mchughs. But yeh, he's Mick Hughes. Oh yeah.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: The project has come to a close on Channel ten
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: here in Australia. News delivered differently for WOW a decade
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: and a half. Apparently my good friend Lee worked for
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: the work for the project. But Lee also has just
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: written a movie that is in cinemas now. Starry Pierce
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: Brosn and Samuel Jackson couldn't believe that really it's called
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: the Unholy Trinity check it out. Yeah, apparently a lot
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: of what Lee rose is not in the movie, so
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: it's kind of disowned it. But at the same time, is.
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: He called a writer or is he just a collaborator?
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: What's their credit for that it's a co writer? Well no,
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: it says written by Lee Zachary. It's okay, so he's
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: got the name, he's got the credit, but it's not
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: actually his story for the most of it.
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: I get the feeling there was probably a bit of
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: improvisation on the set, maybe a bit of rewriting and
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: all that kind of stuff.
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: He wrote something and they went, you're given us something
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: and we'll work with it kind of thing. That's how
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: writing credits. Wait, you look at the Simpsons. They often
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: say I write the episode, I'm the writer. Oh yeah,
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: what I've written is never anything like what comes out
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: in TV.
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: Oh yeah, certainly with the right with a writer room,
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: absolutely yeah. They will break down story ideas together and
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: it's like, okay, we're going to delegate it to robs it.
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: Yeah, zeb Yeah. Because I think it was Carolyn and
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: Meine I was speaking to in general, there was an
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: episode she wrote and she was saying that she hates
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: the ending of the episode, and I said, why did
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: you write it that way? She was like, I didn't
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: write it that way. She goes, That's why it annoys
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: me because I had a different ending. But they it.
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: Comes back in and everybody as their two cents and yeah,
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: there's a general consensus like all right, this works, and yeah,
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: you were the one who was delegated to write it,
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: so it's got your name on it.
- 1:39:31Speaker 4: Yeah, so forever, everyone's going, oh, she wrote the episode
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: that has that crappy ending, She goes, I didn't write
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: the crappy ending though. That was the writer's room.
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: Sorry, I don't want to misrepresent Lee when I was like,
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: oh no, I'm disowning this movie or anything like that.
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: But I I feel like I'm telling tails that it actually.
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: Keep going, which like a shovels their But yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: But the reason I measured the project because they had
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: the finale episode. Hughesy was one of the original hosts
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: on that, and he came back and I wonder, I
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: start watching after the first episode, Yeah, pretty much, And
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: he came back and was like, oh, yeah, that's t
- 1:40:05Speaker 5: I did this, didn't I.
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: I I saw him recently. I looked at it and
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: I went, you look sick.
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: He didn't look well. He looks unwell.
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: It looks tired. He need a haircut. It's just I
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: know what's.
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: Going Someone was making Yeah, possibly slanderous or libelous suggestions
- 1:40:23Speaker 5: like he looks meft out.
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just I don't know.
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: He just looks he looks exhausted. Yes, yeah, well making
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: people laugh is yeah. It's a full time business. Why
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: is it? Yes? Indeed, and also whatever it is that
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: he us he does is from full time business as well.
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: But new names, that's right, new names.
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: One point goes to do the parenting, dover parenting not bad.
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: That is Dave McNally. That gets him up to four points. Now,
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: well Day, that's Dave. Pretzels me pretzels me Nolly pencils pretzels.
- 1:40:57Speaker 4: Two points goes to push pop, push pop. All that
- 1:41:02Speaker 4: would be oh, Philip j. He's climbed up. Has he
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: got Jay Hawkins twenty one points? So he's got the
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: j back, He's got the javack twenty one points, Jay
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: Day on Philip J. Jared Horn name me Jared is
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: on twenty and second human Let's.
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: See what happens three, We let's see what happens. West
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: have got three points to give out, and three points
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: goes to model Father Little Father.
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: His name is Jared.
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: Sorry Phil, say the line guy. It's important to point
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: out the guy. Dada's New Name Challenge is a blind competition.
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: I do not know who has given us these names,
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: so I'm not trying to gin up drama here, but well,
- 1:41:44Speaker 5: look well done Phil, drop that Jay, and well done Jared,
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: and hey, well done princels McNally.
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: Indeed, so that means Jared Hornby is now he has
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: climbed to twenty three points, which puts him now two
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: points ahead of Phil Hawkins, who was in the second
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: positions on twenty one and was Brian who's mc hughes
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: in third. So it's coming. I think we've got like
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: two episodes less. Maybe this is this is episode seventeen.
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: Episode eighteen is episode eighteen? Maybe this was episode eighteen? Yes,
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: I think there's only twenty episodes this season, twenty one
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: on too sure anyway, there's only a couple of left,
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: so but it could be anyone of using mc hugh.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: You're gonna have to get some three point as a
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: catch up. You're get a little bit far behind now
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: Phil Hawkins on twenty one and Jared Hornby on twenty three.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: This is very exciting.
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: It is very exciting. Indeed, who's gonna win? I'm gonna
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: throw my chips in and say, Philip Jay Hawkins is
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: going to come through.
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: M all right, just to make things interesting and pit
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: us against one another. I think his name is Jared
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: and he's the win.
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: A Kyle somehow wins from ten points well in, okay,
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: in that case, we're both looking. We are, indeed, yes,
