- 0:00Speaker 1: So if this stuff's so bad for us, what do
- 0:02Speaker 1: you think is leading, like, there's a lot of conspiracy
- 0:05Speaker 1: theories as to why we're even doing this. Because it's
- 0:07Speaker 1: very sudden, this data, right? Like you said, it's like
- 0:10Speaker 1: suddenly it's the biggest thing.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Self-bomber in the night. Where'd that come from?
- 0:13Speaker 1: And it's already halfway down the road, right?
- 0:18Speaker 2: Why?
- 0:18Speaker 1: What do you think is going on? And then what
- 0:20Speaker 1: do you think are some rabbit hole ideas of maybe
- 0:22Speaker 1: what's going on out there? Like some conspiracy ideas that
- 0:25Speaker 1: are probably right.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You know, so... I don't know why. I'm left to
- 0:34Speaker 2: my own conspiracy theories. You know, I try to focus
- 0:38Speaker 2: on what people are reporting to me, and I can
- 0:41Speaker 2: clearly see why we're all so upset. Because this AI,
- 0:45Speaker 2: you have to feed the beast, requires all of our resources.
- 0:49Speaker 2: And I just think it's a stake too high. When
- 0:52Speaker 2: there's other solutions... We don't have to be building these
- 0:57Speaker 2: massive monstrosities in everyone's backyard, taking all of our precious
- 1:01Speaker 2: resources when there's other solutions.
- 1:03Speaker 1: What are the other solutions?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Well, you know, there's been many articles that have come
- 1:07Speaker 2: out in China where they built like these tubular housing
- 1:11Speaker 2: and they put all the data centers in it and
- 1:13Speaker 2: they've got them at the bottom of the ocean. Data
- 1:15Speaker 2: centers need water and they need to be cool. They
- 1:19Speaker 2: also have some very strict guidelines and, you know, oversight
- 1:23Speaker 2: where you can build them and where you can't. As
- 1:25Speaker 2: a matter of fact, can I share something with you?
- 1:29Speaker 1: For sure you can.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Because I found this really interesting. Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Let me read this while you're looking for that. Let
- 1:34Speaker 1: me see this right here. China operates commercial underwater data centers, UDCs,
- 1:38Speaker 1: to support AI workloads and cloud computing while drastically cutting energy, water,
- 1:43Speaker 1: and land usage. The largest project sits off the coast
- 1:46Speaker 1: of the Shanghai Canal. Special area utilizing natural seawater cooling
- 1:51Speaker 1: and offshore wind to achieve an ultra-efficient power usage effectiveness.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Can you get an image of that?
- 2:00Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I mean, that also seems dangerous being in their ocean
- 2:04Speaker 1: like that, but it seems... Way safer than putting them
- 2:07Speaker 1: in someone's back.
- 2:08Speaker 2: There's definitely going to be questions about things like that.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But it's not in someone's backyard.
- 2:13Speaker 2: We also, you know, we have a lot of caverns
- 2:17Speaker 2: and caves.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Oh, there's tons of things we can do, right? Why
- 2:20Speaker 1: aren't we doing those, do you think? Is it just
- 2:22Speaker 1: because the people that are paying for it don't want
- 2:24Speaker 1: to have to make it harder to get there?
- 2:26Speaker 2: Well, exactly. Because, you know, there's this corporate idea that,
- 2:32Speaker 2: you know, it's cheaper to do the wrong thing And
- 2:37Speaker 2: still get money down to a shareholder because it's more
- 2:39Speaker 2: expensive to do the right thing. So it may be
- 2:42Speaker 2: way more costly to build these underground or build systems
- 2:47Speaker 2: that are at the bottom of the ocean if we
- 2:48Speaker 2: conclude that that is safe, as opposed to just coming
- 2:52Speaker 2: in above ground and ripping out all the environment and
- 2:55Speaker 2: building what you want.
- 2:56Speaker 1: What do you, yeah, agreed. What do you think are
- 2:58Speaker 1: some of the rabbit holes? What do you think? What
- 3:00Speaker 1: do you think's going on here? Because it's very bizarre. Like,
- 3:02Speaker 1: We've always had data centers, right? But why do we
- 3:07Speaker 1: suddenly need so much? And why do they suddenly have
- 3:09Speaker 1: to be everywhere and so close? What's going on?
- 3:12Speaker 2: I think about that too. What actually scares me, if
- 3:16Speaker 2: I thought about it, and I don't even want to
- 3:19Speaker 2: dare say it, but I'm worried this is a water grab.
- 3:25Speaker 2: You're coming in and buying all the land. Who's getting
- 3:27Speaker 2: the water rights? Who owns the water? You know, my
- 3:31Speaker 2: daddy always told me in my lifetime water would be
- 3:33Speaker 2: a commodity traded more valuable than gold or oil. Are
- 3:36Speaker 2: we there? And what is the real grab? I'm not sure,
- 3:40Speaker 2: but that kind of comes into my mind.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Because it doesn't feel like data to me. It's like,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? We're already consuming a lot
- 3:49Speaker 1: of data, right?
- 3:51Speaker 2: It's to feed AI. Artificial intelligence requires excessive amount of energy.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Why don't they realize nobody wants that?
- 3:59Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Like, you know what I'm saying? But here's what I'm
- 4:01Speaker 1: saying as a business, then I'm going to go, I'm
- 4:03Speaker 1: going to get right back to you, Aaron. But as a,
- 4:06Speaker 1: as a, somebody who runs a business, you want to
- 4:07Speaker 1: do what your customers want, right? Why don't they realize like, yes,
- 4:11Speaker 1: I know we use AI to look up stuff, but
- 4:13Speaker 1: a lot of AI shit, to be honest with you,
- 4:16Speaker 1: the search of it, a lot of AI is shit. Um,
- 4:19Speaker 1: but a lot of it's not that effective to be
- 4:21Speaker 1: honest with you. And Like, but people could still just
- 4:25Speaker 1: use Google. Like we were fine before. Like, is it
- 4:29Speaker 1: enough of a jump that you have to build these
- 4:31Speaker 1: huge facilities? I just don't think that that is, I
- 4:34Speaker 1: don't believe that that's the truth.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Well, I think a lot of people don't. And again,
- 4:38Speaker 2: you know.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And people don't want it though. Like I'm going to,
- 4:41Speaker 1: I'm going to make something. If like, usually say you
- 4:43Speaker 1: start building an ice cream cone stand, right? But everybody
- 4:46Speaker 1: in your district or whatever is lactose intolerant. And at
- 4:49Speaker 1: a certain point you'd be like, you know what? This,
- 4:52Speaker 1: we shouldn't be building this. But it feels like they're
- 4:54Speaker 1: still going along with this thing even though nobody wants it.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Right. And I don't think whoever they are was expecting
- 5:04Speaker 2: the opposition from basically the whole country. And by the way,
- 5:08Speaker 2: I have 11 countries reporting to me. So this has
- 5:12Speaker 2: gone from a town to the United States to a
- 5:15Speaker 2: global issue.
- 5:17Speaker 1: On your map, you mean?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Uh-huh. India's reporting. Australia's reporting. Ireland, Scotland. You want to
- 5:22Speaker 2: talk about getting some water up there in Scotland. There
- 5:24Speaker 2: you go. Canada.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Put some fluoride in it, Scotland.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Everybody is concerned about the depletion of our water resources.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And that is definitely something that I'm thinking about because
- 5:39Speaker 2: who is going to be in control of water? And
- 5:41Speaker 2: what are these data centers really for? When you've already
- 5:44Speaker 2: said it. Listen, AI has been around forever. These data
- 5:47Speaker 2: centers have been around for decades. We've been operating fine
- 5:50Speaker 2: with them. They're usually more in suburban areas. But now
- 5:52Speaker 2: you've gone into these urban, sprawling, farmland, massive water resources.
- 5:59Speaker 2: What is going on? And so I did, just out
- 6:03Speaker 2: of curiosity, you can... Use AI, don't use AI. I mean,
- 6:11Speaker 2: I get on there. I'm going to share something with
- 6:13Speaker 2: you that I got on there and I asked it.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But you have to remember, it's a machine, okay? It's
- 6:19Speaker 2: a machine.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's just a big, crazy Google. It's just more information.
- 6:23Speaker 2: But the data and the amount of water it needs
- 6:27Speaker 2: to feed the beast.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I get it, but it's like we're already looking up
- 6:32Speaker 1: a lot of stuff, right? We're already searching things and
- 6:35Speaker 1: we're not needing these. And I know we already have
- 6:38Speaker 1: some big data centers, but it doesn't feel like we
- 6:40Speaker 1: need this much expansion. And the fact that people do
- 6:43Speaker 1: not want it, right? Yes, we use it, but the
- 6:46Speaker 1: second they turn it off, I don't think anybody's going
- 6:47Speaker 1: to give a shit.
- 6:49Speaker 2: No, but they're going to give a shit if they
- 6:50Speaker 2: have no water, and their power goes on and off,
- 6:53Speaker 2: and they have no jobs because of it, and all
- 6:56Speaker 2: the wildlife is gone, and they can't hunt, and they
- 6:59Speaker 2: can't fish, and they can't eat. We're fucked. It's a
- 7:02Speaker 2: road to nowhere.
- 7:03Speaker 1: But here's what I'm saying is, how crazy is it
- 7:05Speaker 1: going to be when one of us is searching, like,
- 7:08Speaker 1: why don't I have any water, and we're doing it
- 7:10Speaker 1: on an AI? You know what I'm saying? That's going
- 7:12Speaker 1: to be hilarious. That's going to be when we.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Definitely— So I just asked AI the following question. So
- 7:17Speaker 2: you are AI. So you tell me where we should
- 7:23Speaker 2: put all the data centers in the United States that
- 7:27Speaker 2: you need. You want any realist response? If I had
- 7:32Speaker 2: to redesign the entire data center network for the United
- 7:37Speaker 2: States from scratch, I would place them based on one
- 7:42Speaker 2: simple rule. Zero. Conflict. with human resources.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So they would say they would put them in a
- 7:56Speaker 1: place where there's no conflict with human resources.
- 7:58Speaker 2: That's what AI says AI would have to do.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Do you think you believe that, though?
- 8:02Speaker 2: I don't know, but I find it awfully interesting. And then,
- 8:04Speaker 2: you know, I had somebody, again, I just find this
- 8:07Speaker 2: really very interesting, is like, AI going to turn on itself?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Let's go through a few conspiracy theories before you leave Aaron, um,
- 8:13Speaker 1: or down rabbit holes. I'm there. Conspiracy theories. I'll tell
- 8:16Speaker 1: you mine. Mine is, I believe that they're trying, uh, to,
- 8:22Speaker 1: they want a place where you go for everything, right?
- 8:24Speaker 1: For all your information, where you go to communicate, uh,
- 8:27Speaker 1: just to talk about regular, like this is what's happening
- 8:30Speaker 1: in my day. Like to become your friend, your lover, your,
- 8:33Speaker 1: your liaison in it to history, anything you want to know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: it's that's where you're going to go. And it's where
- 8:38Speaker 1: you're going to share your feelings. And they want to
- 8:40Speaker 1: create like a God. They want that thing to become
- 8:43Speaker 1: like the new God, as opposed to us like tapping
- 8:47Speaker 1: into ourselves internally and tapping into the connection that we
- 8:51Speaker 1: have with God in our hearts and in our spirits.
- 8:54Speaker 1: They want that to be entirely external because once they
- 8:56Speaker 1: have that out of us, then we're animals. Once they
- 9:00Speaker 1: have that out of us external, once they have that external,
- 9:03Speaker 1: we're animals. And that's what I believe the builders of
- 9:06Speaker 1: these AIs are trying to do. They want to be
- 9:09Speaker 1: the God. They believe that that's possible. And by doing that,
- 9:14Speaker 1: they're going to kill, they want to extrapolate, almost do
- 9:18Speaker 1: an exorcism of the good that's in us. Let's go
- 9:23Speaker 1: down a few more. Here are five conspiracy theories about
- 9:25Speaker 1: data centers that are circulating online. Brought to you by
- 9:29Speaker 1: an AI. This is perplexity. They're secret surveillance hubs. Some
- 9:34Speaker 1: posts claim data centers are really surveillance centers built to
- 9:38Speaker 1: monitor populations rather than store and process digital workloads. What
- 9:41Speaker 1: do you think about that, Erin?
- 9:43Speaker 2: Well, I'm definitely, of the 12,000 submissions that I've taken
- 9:46Speaker 2: in and climbing, there are not a lot, but there
- 9:51Speaker 2: are people clearly stating that they feel it's more of
- 9:56Speaker 2: a surveillance system. But overwhelmingly, 90% are absolutely concerned that
- 10:03Speaker 2: this is going to suck up all of our water, electricity,
- 10:06Speaker 2: and our very valuable resources.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So those are the biggest concerns you get about what's
- 10:10Speaker 1: going to happen. For sure, I get that that's going
- 10:11Speaker 1: to happen like environmentally, but I'm thinking of just like
- 10:14Speaker 1: what are the overall ideas of why are they even
- 10:16Speaker 1: having this, right?
- 10:18Speaker 2: I do have some people that clearly in their submissions
- 10:20Speaker 2: indicate that that's a concern for them.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I think it makes perfect sense. I mean, now that
- 10:25Speaker 1: makes more sense than like we need to be able
- 10:27Speaker 1: to store like the photos from our phone and we
- 10:29Speaker 1: need to be able to store like search engine stuff.
- 10:31Speaker 1: The fact that they need to be able to store
- 10:32Speaker 1: information for everybody that's moving at all times, that I believe.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Makes sense for a surveillance state. Number two, their military
- 10:42Speaker 1: bases in disguise. Another recurring theory says the facilities are
- 10:45Speaker 1: covert military installations or strategic infrastructure hidden behind a corporate
- 10:49Speaker 1: IT shell.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Hmm. I don't see any of that, but I do
- 10:54Speaker 2: see in all the submissions I've gotten that the question is,
- 11:00Speaker 2: why would we not just build these on military bases?
- 11:02Speaker 2: Why are we building them in drought-restricted areas where all
- 11:06Speaker 2: the water is taking up all of our resources in
- 11:08Speaker 2: our backyard?
- 11:09Speaker 1: So you're seeing a lot of that? You're seeing a
- 11:11Speaker 1: lot of them being built in drought-restricted areas?
- 11:13Speaker 2: Very much so.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Like a lot of them?
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you can ask AI that right now while we're
- 11:17Speaker 2: sitting here.
- 11:18Speaker 1: What percentage are you seeing that?
- 11:21Speaker 2: Most of the country is now in a drought-restricted, but
- 11:23Speaker 2: a lot of it's been on the West Coast area
- 11:25Speaker 2: where we've got a lot of drought restrictions. Arizona, they're
- 11:28Speaker 2: building them. Colorado, they're building them.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I know they're building them there, but I know I'm
- 11:33Speaker 1: just thinking.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Of— Most of the U.S. is now drought-restricted.
- 11:37Speaker 1: About two-thirds of planned U.S. data centers are being built
- 11:40Speaker 1: in drought-hit areas, which works out to roughly 64%. One
- 11:44Speaker 1: recent analysis put the figure at 517 out of 809
- 11:49Speaker 1: planned data centers in locations that have been in drought
- 11:51Speaker 1: over the past year.
- 11:52Speaker 2: So that's concerning. Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 1: They're being used, the number three, they're being used for
- 11:59Speaker 1: population control. Some conspiracy narratives tie data centers to broader
- 12:03Speaker 1: claims about controlling behavior, resources, or society at scale.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I haven't seen any of that. In the submissions coming
- 12:10Speaker 2: from the people to my map.
- 12:14Speaker 1: They're built to create sentient AI. A more futuristic theory
- 12:17Speaker 1: says giant data centers exist to accelerate or bring through
- 12:20Speaker 1: sentient AI and intelligent machines. That's fine. I just don't
- 12:25Speaker 1: see how that's going.
- 12:26Speaker 2: We've been dealing with AI for a long time. I
- 12:28Speaker 2: just think it's gotten to a bigger scale. And like
- 12:31Speaker 2: I tell people, it's only going to be as smart
- 12:33Speaker 2: as we do or don't teach it. And you can't
- 12:36Speaker 2: take everything it says at face value.
