- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. And it's Yvonne, too.
- 0:16And it is the first day of a new month.
- 0:18It's the 1st of July and boy, we are in the twilight zone here.
- 0:23After five years of me disappearing into a room by
- 0:26myself to record, here you are recording with me.
- 0:29Yeah, it's a little bit overwhelming, but I'm trying my
- 0:32best. You are killing it, honey.
- 0:33You're doing great. And today is another great day
- 0:37for this because well, after everyone heard your reading
- 0:40yesterday, they're going to be delighted to know that there's a
- 0:42whole lot more young woman than there is young man today.
- 0:46So how about let's dive into it and let's keep reading this poem
- 0:50together. You good?
- 0:52You ready? All right, let's.
- 0:55Go all right, join us friends as we read together Song of Songs
- 1:00Chapter 2. I am the spring crocus blooming
- 1:14on the Sharon Plain, the Lily of the valley.
- 1:19Like a Lily among thistles is my darling among young women.
- 1:24Like the finest apple tree in the orchard is my lover among
- 1:28other young men. I sit in his delightful shade
- 1:31and taste his delicious fruit. He escorts me to the banquet
- 1:35hall. It's obvious how much he loves
- 1:38me. Strengthen me with Raisin cakes,
- 1:41refresh me with apples, for I am weak with love.
- 1:45His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.
- 1:51Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and
- 1:54wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right.
- 1:58Ah, I hear my lover coming. He is leaping over the
- 2:03mountains, bounding over the hills.
- 2:06My lover is like a swift gazelle or a young stag.
- 2:10Look, there he is behind the wall, looking through the
- 2:13window, peering into the room. My lover said to me, Rise up, my
- 2:19darling, Come away with me, my fair one.
- 2:22Look, the winter is past and the rains are over and gone.
- 2:27The flowers are springing up. The season of singing birds has
- 2:31come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air.
- 2:36The fig trees are forming young fruit, and the fragrant
- 2:39grapevines are blossoming. Rise up, my darling, Come away
- 2:43with me, my fair one. My dove is hiding behind the
- 2:48rocks, behind an outcrop on the Cliff.
- 2:51Let me see your face. Let me hear your voice, for your
- 2:55voice is pleasant and your face is lovely.
- 3:01Catch all the foxes, those little foxes, before they ruin
- 3:05the vineyard of love, for the grapevines are blossoming.
- 3:10My lover is mine, and I am his. He browses among the lilies
- 3:15before the dawn breezes blow and the night shadows flee.
- 3:19Return to me, my love, like a gazelle or a young stag on the
- 3:23rugged mountains. Our Lord, thank you that you
- 3:37haven't made us for a lone life, but you have made us for
- 3:41community. You have made us for
- 3:43relationship, that perfect relationship with you, but we
- 3:47bask in your love and your acceptance that we don't quite
- 3:50understand but we're very grateful for nonetheless.
- 3:54But also for relationship with each other.
- 3:59But thank you for the special ones in our lives whose love
- 4:02boisters us each day and that inspires us to keep going.
- 4:07Lord, I pray that we are able to invest in those relationships
- 4:11and that that we can mirror you and your love and your
- 4:15forgiveness when it's needed. And your grace, our Lord, you
- 4:21are good to us and you model this perfect love for us.
- 4:26So we thank you for it, we acknowledge it, and we live in
- 4:32it day by day because boy do we need it along with your
- 4:34forgiveness. And we pray all of this in Jesus
- 4:38name, Amen.
