- 2:46Welcome to Tracer Rounds, and I'm your host, Terry.
- 2:48And you're on MBR, where we're giving veterans a voice.
- 2:51And tonight's voice is to DJ Nick.
- 2:54He is also a DJ on our platform, but he's also on multiple
- 2:58platforms. So it's not just us that gets to
- 3:00share in his talent. The whole world gets to share in
- 3:03his talent. And he's coming to us from
- 3:05Milan, Italy. Is that correct?
- 3:08That is correct, Terry. And thank you so much for having
- 3:09me on the show today. And thank you for that
- 3:11wonderful, wonderful introduction.
- 3:13Well, there's so much more I could say, but I figured I'd
- 3:15kind of let you talk about your history and how you got started
- 3:19and how you got started with MBR.
- 3:20And then just in radio in general, can you just kind of
- 3:23give us a rundown of how you got your start into radio and then
- 3:27how you've progressed to where you are now?
- 3:30I know that's a lot of conversation, but I'm excited to
- 3:34hear it all. It's spans sadly quite a few
- 3:36years now because I'm, you know, 42 now.
- 3:40I started going to red when I was 18, so a few moons have
- 3:44passed since then. But what happened was at the
- 3:48time when I, I 'cause I, I've been a music journalist for the
- 3:51longest time, so I'd interviewed all the artist I really wanted
- 3:54to meet and such. And yeah, and done tons of
- 3:56reviews for, for C DS that they I receive and such.
- 4:00It was something that I really, really enjoyed.
- 4:01But I was like, how can I further my passion for music?
- 4:05And that's when the light bulb went off and like, oh, you know,
- 4:07should I try my hand at DJ? And, and what happened was I was
- 4:11approached by a wonderful lady who sadly is no longer with us,
- 4:16Diane Landry from Texas. And she got a start on a on a
- 4:21radio station. It was an Internet station at
- 4:24the time. And she's like, what do you want
- 4:26to do? And I'm like, at the time I was
- 4:28more into, I was more a rock and metal head.
- 4:30And so I was like, I really want to do a show bringing people
- 4:33European rock and metal. And, you know, because because
- 4:36the, the audience was mainly American, I was like, maybe they
- 4:38don't know these artists. Let's see if we can give do
- 4:41something a little bit different.
- 4:42So I did that for a while and it was great fun and also got to
- 4:45once again have great artists on the show to talk to and such.
- 4:48And then I came across MBR and once again, I was, I was, you
- 4:54know, I heard heard great stuff. There was not in the early
- 4:57stages, but they've been been around for a couple of years.
- 5:01And at that time I'd switched from doing the metal from Milan
- 5:04show to doing whiskey and cigarettes, which is my current
- 5:07show, which is a country music show, or rather I guess I should
- 5:11say a roots music shows. We cover all the genres that
- 5:14fall under the roots label. So country, Americana,
- 5:17bluegrass, you know, Southern rock, etcetera.
- 5:21And so I asked them if they won and they were like, yeah, you
- 5:24know, by all means though, we don't have a country show, so
- 5:27come on over. And I did, and I've basically
- 5:29been part of the furniture since then.
- 5:32Wow, how long has it been? With MBR, oh, I think it's been
- 5:41about. Could it be possibly 20 years?
- 5:45Possibly. Oh my goodness, so you're really
- 5:48OG of MBR? You've been here a long time.
- 5:55Yeah, yeah. I think, I think Joel and I are
- 5:58probably the Ogs, you know, when it comes to to who was there at
- 6:02the time, because he at the time was a DJ.
- 6:06He hadn't power overlord, but and then so it was also great to
- 6:12see Joel kind of, you know, rise among the ranks and then
- 6:14ultimately, you know, take over. So that was a wonderful journey
- 6:17to see for me personally and still be here now, you know,
- 6:20under, you know, under his his management.
- 6:22So I'm very, very, I'm super happy to still be here.
- 6:25I'm glad that that I still have a place here and hopefully I
- 6:28will continue to do so. And I also want want to applaud
- 6:31you for your work, Terry. You do an absolute job.
- 6:34You know, I've been checking out some of your stuff and you're
- 6:37awesome at what you do. So I'm really happy, you know,
- 6:39to call you a colleague. Oh, well, thank you.
- 6:42I really appreciate that. That's quite a compliment.
- 6:44I'm, I'm a little bit speechless, if that's possible.
- 6:50I don't know if it's possible, but they they dub you the Romeo
- 6:54of the rodeo. How did you get that title?
- 6:58You know what? That was actually bestowed upon
- 7:00me by a Canadian artist by the name of Amy Lee.
- 7:04I was at my first award show. I was nominated for
- 7:10International Radio Personality of the Year in Nashville.
- 7:14And, and so and I'd met Amy a couple of times and not had met
- 7:18her, sorry. I'd interviewed her.
- 7:20And this was the first time I actually met her.
- 7:22And so we were at the Silver Bullet Saloon in Nashville along
- 7:26with all the other nominees. And what happened was it's
- 7:29customary for Italians when they meet somebody, usually a woman,
- 7:34to give them two kisses. Eek.
- 7:36This is completely smile you. I did not realise at the time it
- 7:41was not normal for North Americans, I assume, because you
- 7:45know, we did develop a French banal.
- 7:47So I I sort of like Amy. I rushed up to her and I kissed
- 7:50her on both cheeks and she and she's a married woman, mind you,
- 7:53and her husband was there, but it didn't cause any problems,
- 7:55but looked at me and said I could get used to that.
- 7:59Really are the Romeo of the rodeo.
- 8:00I'm like, well, thank you. I like that name.
- 8:03I'm going to keep it. So that's that's how that came
- 8:05about. That's an awesome story.
- 8:09But yeah, I mean, you know, in other cultures things are
- 8:12customary there that aren't necessarily customary here.
- 8:15So yes, I understand, you know, the it's not really like so much
- 8:20of A, it's more of a like a cordial greeting for you, I
- 8:25guess versus, you know, like for us to be like.
- 8:28With age, I've learned to ask. With age I've learned.
- 8:31With age, I've learned to ask. It's much more you Petra risk
- 8:37because like, OK, this is how we do it over here.
- 8:38I'm sure it's fine over there. And so, yeah, and I've learned
- 8:43when it comes to my American friends of like, is it OK if I
- 8:46give you 2 kisses on the cheek or you just want to do a
- 8:48handshake? Well, it's good that you asked,
- 8:52just in case. Yeah, Yeah.
- 8:56I don't want any angry husbands or boyfriends on my case.
- 8:59Right. So do you come here often or are
- 9:02you mostly do your show from Italy all the time or how does
- 9:06it work? Because you, you came here for
- 9:08awards and things like that. So do you come here and
- 9:11interview or do you just interview solely from Milan or
- 9:16what? How is that happening?
- 9:19I, I only, I mean, I haven't been to the states in the
- 9:22longest time and it's, and it's very sad for me because I love
- 9:26America visiting. I have so many friends over
- 9:29there that I have not even met in person yet.
- 9:32And I've worked with for the longest time because outside the
- 9:34radio, I also, I also podcast, I mean podcasting States and
- 9:41podcast with them for years. But I've never met them in
- 9:44person. And that is a big goal of mine.
- 9:46But yeah, last time I think it was like, I think it was like
- 9:48mid 2000s. I was in Saint Louis.
- 9:52My cousin's wedding she got, she lives in America.
- 9:56She was and she is married to a Missourian.
- 9:58So we went for her wedding in Saint Louis, which is fantastic.
- 10:01But when it comes to the interview stuff, yeah, I don't
- 10:04really get the chance to interview folks once again in
- 10:06person, thanks to the miracles of the Internet and technology
- 10:10and stuff, one can do things like, you know, through Stream
- 10:13Yard or through Zoom or through Teams or what have you.
- 10:15So that's how I've been doing it.
- 10:17Now what was crazy as I used to do it over the phone and I
- 10:20literally would have to record, I'd have to use the speaker and
- 10:24would it with what either my phone or recorder like 1 Tory
- 10:28sort of sort of old school gorilla kind of journalism.
- 10:32No good not to have to do that and to be able to rely on on
- 10:37VoIP services and it makes life so much easier.
- 10:39And it was maybe it breaks the barrier.
- 10:42I think you almost feel like you're in the same country, even
- 10:44though there is a significant time difference of course.
- 10:48Right, exactly. Yeah, there's how many hours
- 10:50between you and I right now? Is it 8 or is it more than that?
- 10:54Oh, you are on the Are you in on the East Coast or Pacific
- 10:58Standard Time or Central Standard Time?
- 11:00Central. I'm in Texas.
- 11:04OK Oh yay, fantastic. Yes, 7 hours.
- 11:06There's a 7 hour difference between the some 7 hours ahead.
- 11:09OK. So it's in the afternoon there
- 11:12for you. It's actually early morning.
- 11:16It's 2:00 in the morning over here.
- 11:17Oh. It's 2:00 in the morning.
- 11:18Good grief, I'm sorry I got you out of bed.
- 11:23No, no, I've been up, I've been up.
- 11:24I'm I'm very much a night owl. I mean, my mind is pretty much
- 11:28set on Eastern Standard Time these days because of podcasting
- 11:31with folks in the states. Actually, you know, before I
- 11:33hopped on here, I was literally finishing up a podcast with my
- 11:37friend Keith and we just finished our review of Tastic 4
- 11:41first steps. So and he's in North Carolina.
- 11:43So it's it's it's it's all in days work for me when it comes
- 11:47to to these anti insane hours. Not to mention I'm a huge hockey
- 11:54fan. I mean, aside from loving
- 11:55football of course, because I wouldn't be an Italian if I
- 11:57didn't like football or soccer. But I'm a huge hockey fan, huge
- 12:02NHL and Montreal Canadiens fans. So I'm used to being up at all
- 12:05hours watching the Montreal Canadiens, even though they
- 12:08haven't been pretty good lately. I mean, it's sometimes like, why
- 12:11do I even bother? But you know you have to root
- 12:13for your team in the good and the bad times, so.
- 12:17That's right. No fair weathered fans.
- 12:19You have to, you know, it's got to be a die hard fan all the way
- 12:24through. Oh yeah.
- 12:26Yeah. So you're on our platform almost
- 12:29every day of the week and you do top 10 country, pop, rock, all
- 12:34that, all that. So how did you how did you
- 12:37decide to start with all those different shows instead of just
- 12:42doing the whiskey and cigarette show?
- 12:46Well, The thing is I since I love so many genres of music, I
- 12:51even as I listen on a regular basis, I will go from anything
- 12:56start to I don't know, to also. So I'm very and K pop recently
- 13:03has become a huge thing for me lately.
- 13:05I love K but some So what's what happened was I was like, yeah,
- 13:09countries all fine and good during four hours of country
- 13:11music or root music and what have you.
- 13:13But it's like, it would be nice to kind of, you know, bring in
- 13:15my for other music, you know, go back to my old days of the rock
- 13:19and metal days. And so to find a way to do that.
- 13:22And so I went to Billboard and I let's do those.
- 13:26And so I did. I went with the with the the
- 13:29rock and with the globe art. And that's something I really,
- 13:33really am happy that Billboard introduced recently as the
- 13:36Billboard global chart, because that way you get enough of what
- 13:40the world is listening to, not just one particular area.
- 13:45So that's something that I've really been enjoying doing,
- 13:47especially, especially the, the, the global chart, because you
- 13:50get so many different styles within that, within that one
- 13:53chart. And, and so it's, it's a great
- 13:55fun. And I actually am this, I went
- 13:57out of my way and this is just because I'm like, because I'm
- 14:00not, so I don't have anything better to do.
- 14:02So I decided to create the billboards global chart top 50
- 14:07Spotify playlist. And every single week I'm
- 14:11updating it. I know it's, it's and this is
- 14:13just like a pet project. I'm like, I just feel I want to
- 14:16do this. And if people come across it and
- 14:18they add it to their playlist, you know, listen to it in the
- 14:20car or have you, I'm happy. It's just, it's just nice to
- 14:23kind of share that with the world, if you will.
- 14:25So that's pretty much the the story behind that.
- 14:30So you're a little like a Casey Kasem if you're familiar with
- 14:33Casey Kasem's Countdown Top 40 Countdown.
- 14:36I wish I was half as I wish I was half as talented as Casey or
- 14:41Wolfman Jack or folks of that that here.
- 14:44I mean, those were those we're talking about legends there.
- 14:46And I wish I had half the, the personality and the charisma
- 14:51that they had because when Casey was doing, you know, the, the,
- 14:55the, the countdowns and stuff, he just made it so fun and so
- 15:00different. It didn't feel because sometimes
- 15:02I can't yell at myself. I'm like, yeah, you could do
- 15:04something to spice this up a little.
- 15:05But it's a it's very hard because when I don't want to try
- 15:08and, you know, emulate what's a lend like Casey did.
- 15:11But yeah, I I kind of said if I had 110th of that man's talent,
- 15:16I would consider myself exceedingly lucky.
- 15:19I think you do. You've won several awards.
- 15:21What all awards have you won if? You don't mind me asking that?
- 15:27Oh no, of course. And it's still it's still flaws
- 15:30me to this day that I've even won an awards because I never
- 15:32saw that coming. So I've what are the one I
- 15:36mentioned earlier, which was for best international radio
- 15:39personality and that was over in Nashville.
- 15:41And then I won another one for best radio show in Ashland, KY
- 15:47and, and those were the true trophies that I got to walk
- 15:50away. And it's wonderful to actually
- 15:52have a little trophy sitting on your table.
- 15:53And I, I did that. And then there were a couple of
- 15:58digital ones that I received as well throughout the years.
- 16:00But I think the one that meant, I mean, I love them.
- 16:03Thank you for the thank you for that, Amber.
- 16:04I appreciate it. But what, what really meant so
- 16:09much to me? I'm glad to that I'm looking
- 16:12young. I try.
- 16:13But anyways, no, what I was saying is the month pro meant
- 16:16the most to me was the very first one I, I, I won.
- 16:20I mean, I love the other ones. I won, of course, but as they
- 16:22say, you never forget your first.
- 16:24And the reason for that is there's another hilarious
- 16:26anecdote, an anecdote for you, Terry, if if I may.
- 16:31So I was at once again, after having made a complete fool of
- 16:33myself with Amy and this is on the cheek.
- 16:36And then also having been LED into the bathroom by her husband
- 16:39because he was a Toronto Maple Leeds supporter and I'm a Habs
- 16:42supporter, takes me into the bathroom, shows me the toilet.
- 16:45He says, what does that look like?
- 16:47I'm like, it's a toilet seat. He said, no, look at the logo.
- 16:50He's like the Habs logo is a toilet seat.
- 16:52I'm like, I'm not going to dispute that because you're five
- 16:56times my size, but whatever. So there was that and so that
- 17:01and then after that, everybody chilled out, had a couple of
- 17:03drinks and everything else. And we get to the awards and I'm
- 17:06sitting there with my manager and I'm like, I'm going to go
- 17:08out for a smoke because I don't know when they're going to get
- 17:10to me. So I might as well go outside
- 17:11and have a smoke. So when outside I'm having, by
- 17:16the way, folks, don't ever, don't stop smoking.
- 17:18It's not good for you. And I went, I went back in and I
- 17:21see my, I see the announcer singing When the Moon Hits the
- 17:25Sky. DJ Nick to the stage, please.
- 17:28I'm like, oh, I missed my moment and my managers rushing up to
- 17:33the stage and Nick, where are you?
- 17:35Because I announced the award and I was outside.
- 17:38And so I rushed up to the stage, grabbed my trophy and like, I'm
- 17:41so sorry guys and such. And so I gave him a little
- 17:44prepared speech that I had prepared and, and all that.
- 17:46And it was, it was just amazing, amazing night.
- 17:49And then after that, this one chap at the bar kept offering me
- 17:53drinks. And that was something that was,
- 17:54I was I never expect. Is it true?
- 17:57Why are you drinking? And I'm like, you know, let's go
- 17:59with a whiskey and Coke. And he says, put it on my tab.
- 18:02Anything this guy wants, put it on my tab.
- 18:04I'm like, wow, I don't even know this dude.
- 18:06And he's offering me drinks. This is amazing.
- 18:08And then the next day, walking around Nashville and people
- 18:13literally pointing me out and recognizing me, that was such a
- 18:17weird feeling. It was such a weird feeling, but
- 18:20it made me feel so welcomed because once again, you're in
- 18:24Nashville, which was, you know, granted, things have expanded,
- 18:27but it is still considered the capital of country music.
- 18:29And the best of the best have been there.
- 18:32And so I was like, I felt so humbled that people literally
- 18:35pointing me outgoing international radio personality,
- 18:37like, yeah, cheers, man. And it was this.
- 18:39It was just unforgettable. And I cannot thank the people in
- 18:43Nashville enough, are being so welcoming, so kind, and I just
- 18:47really felt like it was almost a second home for me.
- 18:49And it's true what they say about the Southern, the Southern
- 18:51hospitality, it really is a thing.
- 18:55That's so awesome. I love that story and it's
- 18:57because you're so likable that people just want to gravitate
- 19:00towards you and say, look, there he is.
- 19:02There's DJ Nick. We got to wait.
- 19:04We got to buy him a drink and whiskey and coke.
- 19:07You know who all could say that? DJ Nick, international radio
- 19:11personality like that's, that's an honor.
- 19:15No, that's an honor. So we're going to take a quick
- 19:18break and we're going to play Audios Amigo by Dallas
- 19:21Alexander. I don't know if you know him,
- 19:23but he's a Canadian special for Versus troupe that's now a
- 19:27country music singer and just moved a recently to Nashville to
- 19:31Honus Craft. So we're going to play him and
- 19:33then we'll be right back with DJ Nick.
- 23:53Military broadcast radio, the station that's giving veterans a

- 24:01dot. Opinions expressed in this
- 24:04program are those of the speakers and do not necessarily

- 24:14And welcome back to the Tracer Rounds podcast.
- 24:16And I'm with DJ Nick and he is a radio.
- 24:21He is, we just, I just muted you.
- 24:23I'm sorry. He is on our music side on MBR
- 24:28and he's also syndicated with other platforms and he has the
- 24:31Whiskey and cigarette show. And so I'm really fortunate to
- 24:35have you tonight because I really didn't think you'd say
- 24:37yes. Well, as always, it's great
- 24:40hanging with you, Terry. And may I say that was a
- 24:42fantastic song you just played. Absolutely loved it.
- 24:45And I love the the video was absolutely awesome.
- 24:48I and very much spoke to me. I have to say, because one,
- 24:50obviously it's country music, but secondly, I'm a huge comic
- 24:54book fan and I love the comic book style of that.
- 24:57So it kind of, you know, spoke to me on multiple levels because
- 25:01I'm a big nerd, let's be honest. And so I love superheroes, I
- 25:04love comic books and so on. So that really spoke to me.
- 25:07And you know, Dallas did a fantastic job with that song.
- 25:10He really did, and I love that. It's kind of a Zorro feel to the
- 25:14comic book too. So Zorro's in there too.
- 25:16So, you know, like you said, another superhero.
- 25:19So I really like how he put all those elements together and
- 25:22really made a very dynamic video.
- 25:24Agreed. Yeah, I love music too.
- 25:26I'm a music fan. I can't tell you everything
- 25:29about music, but I can tell you that I like just about every
- 25:32genre. There's a couple I might be like
- 25:35on the fence a teeny tiny bit, but other than that, I mean, I
- 25:39like country, I like pop, I like rock, I like rap, I like
- 25:43instrumental, like jazz, I like Blues, I like bluegrass.
- 25:47You know, any kind of music. I mean, good music is good music
- 25:51no matter what the genre. Well said.
- 25:56And I it sounds like, you know, you're of that on that same
- 25:59concept because of all the different shows you host and,
- 26:02you know, all the different things that you do on your
- 26:05platform. So tell me who is like your Oh,
- 26:08I'm so glad I got to interview this person or I got to meet
- 26:12this person who would be your one like, Oh man, that's.
- 26:15Awesome. Oh my.
- 26:16I mean, I don't want to sound, you know, like I'm dodging the
- 26:18question or, or deflecting, but it's, it's a very loaded
- 26:21question because I've had the privilege of meeting so many of
- 26:25my heroes. I all folks I admired from a
- 26:27musical standpoint, but I count myself incredibly, incredibly
- 26:31blessed. And I thought I'd never get the
- 26:33chance to talk to him. I mean, if I go back to my rock
- 26:35and metal days, I mean, I've had the chance to, to hang out with
- 26:39folks like, you know, Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day.
- 26:42That was a huge one for me. And that, that was amazing.
- 26:46It was literally at a Green Day show because I was interviewing
- 26:48Green Day that day. And so then I went backstage and
- 26:51so we, I hang out with Billy, really, really nice dude.
- 26:54And then it was just wonderful to talk to him.
- 26:56Then another another guy that I was a huge fan of, which I mean,
- 27:00I there might be more popular in the in the in Europe than they
- 27:03are in the States, even there if they are an American band.
- 27:05And that's Sabotage. And I met their, their lead
- 27:09singer, John Oliva, who I was a huge, huge fan of.
- 27:14And I thought I, I, I would never get to meet him.
- 27:16And that once again, I got on the tour bus, chatted to the guy
- 27:19and I'm like, I cannot express to you how much your music means
- 27:23to me. And I always think you should
- 27:25thank them because, you know, they're sharing their gift with
- 27:27the world. And they might hear it a million
- 27:29times, but I think, you know, they they can never hear it
- 27:31enough. So I think it's important to let
- 27:34them know how much music has impacted you.
- 27:36So and and then there are tons of other ones that I got to do
- 27:38when it comes to, to to the rock and metal side of things.
- 27:42Lita Ford was a was one which was brilliant Lita.
- 27:46Ford. Oh my goodness.
- 27:47But here's the weird one with Lita.
- 27:49With Lita, it was on the phone and we literally did something
- 27:52where we went through her discography and so we had, I had
- 27:57her pick 3 songs from every album of hers and we literally
- 28:00went through them. And so she was on the phone for
- 28:03a significant amount of time with me to literally where she
- 28:06was driving. She went to a fast food
- 28:08restaurant with her kids. I heard it all.
- 28:11You could literally hear her kids in the backwards.
- 28:13Like you guys, shut up, I'm doing an interview.
- 28:15And she was literally, so I was literally with her all the time
- 28:20throughout the course of this. It was really weird.
- 28:21It was, but it was amazing that I got to talk to Lita.
- 28:23It's been a really lovely gal. And then another very memorable
- 28:27one from that day. And then I'll get some country
- 28:29ones here shortly. But the other one that was meant
- 28:31a lot to me was talking to the guitarist from Vixen, who sadly
- 28:34is no longer with us. And that was also in her car.
- 28:39And a certain point, she literally said, Nick, is it a
- 28:42problem if I just go outside and pee?
- 28:43I really can't hold it in anymore.
- 28:45I'm like, that's rock'n'roll baby, take it, go ahead, I'll be
- 28:48right here. And so literally heard that she
- 28:51had to get out of her car and go out.
- 28:53And because I said she's a rocker, that's what they do.
- 28:56And so that was that was a great honour for me.
- 28:57It's very sad. I said that that that that Jan
- 28:59is no longer with us. But she was absolutely a
- 29:00wonderful, wonderful person in the country world.
- 29:03Well, there's quite a few. The first one that comes to mind
- 29:07is Tanya Tucker. Oh yes, Tanya Tucker of.
- 29:10Course, I got to have Tanya on my show twice and she was like,
- 29:14so elated about it. She's like, you're in Italy.
- 29:17I can't believe I'm talking to you in Italy.
- 29:19I can hear you so clearly and stuff like, yes, that's the
- 29:22miracles of technology. Tanya, you appreciate that.
- 29:27And then she's like, I still have to come back because I love
- 29:29the name whiskey and cigarettes. I have to come back.
- 29:32So she came back. And other ones.
- 29:34I mean, I, I could just just go down the list of how lucky I
- 29:37was. Charlie Pride was another one.
- 29:38Like oh wow. Yeah, another really fantastic
- 29:41dude. I mean, I have really bad things
- 29:43to say. I've been very lucky.
- 29:44I've never had any sort of bad interviews.
- 29:46There have been a few, of course, but most of them were
- 29:49great. Bobby Bare was another one I got
- 29:51to talk to, and he was a big hero of mine.
- 29:53Hank Williams, Junior. Who else was there that?
- 29:57And here, here's the very sad one.
- 29:59I was supposed to interview Ken Kenny Rogers, and what happened
- 30:03was I was in Nashville at the time and I was just about to.
- 30:07It was the day before I had to leave to go back to Italy.
- 30:09My manager writes to me, says, do you want to interview Kenny
- 30:12Rogers, which is like, is the Pope Catholic?
- 30:14I mean, and I'm like. Of course.
- 30:17Yeah, exactly. Like, obviously I do.
- 30:19And like, OK, he'll be available tomorrow at such and such a
- 30:21time. Like, oh man, I'm flying out.
- 30:24I won't be able to talk to him. And so I I live with the regret
- 30:27now because once again, you know, Kenny's no longer with us.
- 30:30Either. And I have that huge regret that
- 30:32I never got to talk to Kenny Rogers because that's another
- 30:35one which would have meant a lot to do for me to talk to.
- 30:38I mean, then there were there were, there were so many other
- 30:40ones that that were that said that, you know, as I said, I was
- 30:43incredibly happy with both in the independent world and, and
- 30:47the established 1. And they're really, and once
- 30:49again, they're just such nice people.
- 30:51It's amazing because as long as you think fame and fortune has
- 30:54gone to their heads, they might be a bit Snooty or what have
- 30:57you, but by and large I've noticed that they're really,
- 31:01they're really down to earth. I mean, I think if you, you
- 31:04know, treat them right and and such, they tend to behave
- 31:07themselves and be good. Luke Bryan, another guy I
- 31:10absolutely love. He was, he was fantastic.
- 31:12Chris Stapleton was another one. I actually my, my fun.
- 31:16Here's a fun, another fun anecdote for you.
- 31:18I actually was able to stomp Luke Bryan.
- 31:20I never thought I'd be able to do that, but I did because we
- 31:23were doing the interview. And at some point I said, you
- 31:25always have this huge smile on your face.
- 31:28What in life makes you smile? He stopped, and he's like, I'm
- 31:34going to need a moment to think about that one.
- 31:36And it took him a while. Like, I literally stomped Luke
- 31:39Bryan, who's done so many interviews in his life.
- 31:42So I was like, you go. So was so yeah, that was, that
- 31:45was another, another great one. So.
- 31:47But like I said, I could go on all day because as I said, I've
- 31:49been, I've just been, I've been so lucky because I've been doing
- 31:51this for so long. And I've had the chance to have
- 31:54so many people that I've gone to talk to that have written and
- 31:56sung songs that, like I said, have made my life that that much
- 32:00better. And so, yeah, I'm incredibly
- 32:02thankful to all of them. Yeah, definitely.
- 32:05So is there any other DJs that you've wanted to meet that
- 32:08you've met that you're like, Oh my goodness, I'm getting to be
- 32:12in the same virtual space as them or or literally in the same
- 32:17space? Well, I'd love to hang out with
- 32:18you, you know, I mean, if ever I'm in Texas, you know, I mean,
- 32:22I have not been to Texas in ages.
- 32:26That was one of my first trips to the States.
- 32:28I literally it was in Fort Worth.
- 32:30Yeah, right. I'm right here.
- 32:32There you go. Fort Worth was I had a blast in
- 32:35Fort Worth. It was absolutely fantastic.
- 32:37I was hosted basically by by Diane Andrea.
- 32:41I said the the girl who gave me my my first gig there and she's
- 32:44like coming over the house and so on, etcetera.
- 32:46You know how you'll be my guest for, for a couple of, a couple
- 32:48of days or what have you. And she introduced me to Cajun
- 32:52cooking, one of the most fantastic things I've ever
- 32:56tasted. So we had like the sausage gravy
- 32:58and the biscuits and all this, all this stuff.
- 33:01I was like, oh, this is amazing. The only problem was I came
- 33:04back, I was like, I don't know how many pounds I put on by then
- 33:07because this we ate this stuff like on all the time.
- 33:10Like this food is really good, but it's kind of taking a toll
- 33:14on my gut. So I don't know if I could eat
- 33:15this all the time, but I'd love to meet you in, in, in rural
- 33:19liberty area for for sure. I mean, all the other folks at
- 33:22MBR would be wonderful, actually have a hangout and just meet
- 33:25everybody. You know, it's I'd say, I'd say
- 33:29you guys first and foremost because you're the ones that
- 33:32I've known you for the most. And so, yeah, what is your?
- 33:36I have a question for you then, Terry.
- 33:37What is your poison of choice? My poison?
- 33:41Like what do you mean? Like when it comes to adult
- 33:44beverages, is an adult beverage that you particularly enjoy.
- 33:47You know I don't drink. Oh, OK, yeah.
- 33:50So well, because of. That it's like a fruit juice or
- 33:54a. Absolutely.
- 33:55Or a coffee, Yeah. Sweet sweet tea.
- 33:58Does that work? Well, I actually don't drink
- 34:00sweet tea because it's too sweet.
- 34:02Here in the South, when they say sweet, they mean sweet.
- 34:07It's more sweet than tea, yes. Yes, yes, if you didn't put
- 34:11about 3 cups of sugar in it for southern tea, it's not sweet
- 34:15enough. Well, I guess then I'll, I'll,
- 34:18I'll buy you a non alcoholic beverage then when I when I
- 34:21hopefully get the chance to meet you in person.
- 34:23Well that sounds great. I actually love mojitos.
- 34:25But a virgin mojito? I love those.
- 34:27There you go, those are amazing. Those are amazing.
- 34:32So I am just so fascinated by your whole career and how you
- 34:38really got started and and how you were a music journalist and
- 34:42then transition to radio show host.
- 34:46How many platforms are you actually on right now besides
- 34:49MBR? Well, when it comes to the
- 34:52stations syndicated, I think we're on I think almost 30
- 34:57syndicated stations at this point between FM and Nets, both
- 35:01over here nationally and internationally.
- 35:03Yeah. So I'd say, I mean, I'm terrible
- 35:07at keeping score with this kind of stuff.
- 35:09And that's why I have a manager because you delegate and you let
- 35:13them deal with those headaches, as he once told me.
- 35:17And I don't claim to be, you know, you know, the the like the
- 35:21Super rock star DJ, what have you, But he's he told me you're
- 35:25the talent, I'm the brains. Let me take care of this stuff
- 35:28and you just focus on the show. And that's pretty much what
- 35:31Michael and I have been doing. I've been, Michael's been my
- 35:34manager for once again, I think almost, you know, almost 15
- 35:38years now that he's been my manager.
- 35:40And you know, it's because of him that I've had so much
- 35:43success and I've enjoyed, you know, the, the things I have
- 35:46because the man is just top notch and, and such a great and
- 35:51such a wonderful person. He's a decent human being.
- 35:54He understands you. Super patient because I can get
- 35:57tetchy at times. You know, I'm Italian.
- 36:00We're passionate people. So, you know, I can be a
- 36:02difficult customer at times, but he has the patience of the Dalai
- 36:06Lama with me. And I really appreciate that,
- 36:09that, that, I mean, he's a, he's a Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
- 36:13Nobody's perfect. But, you know, other than that,
- 36:15I, I love the guy to bits. And I definitely would not be
- 36:18here, I don't think, if it hadn't been for people like
- 36:21Michael. That's awesome.
- 36:23That's really a good testament to your relationship that after
- 36:27all these years you can still say the same things and say, you
- 36:29know, you complement each other skill sets.
- 36:31He's really good at the scheduling and keeping you on
- 36:34task, and you're really good at doing the talony things that you
- 36:37need to do, the creative things. So I mean, that's a really great
- 36:41relationship. And that's a really great
- 36:42testament to that relationship is your ability to just, you
- 36:46know, depend on him to get you in the right place at the right
- 36:49time and to really help promote what you do and just, you know,
- 36:52kind of be that rock that you need beside you when you're
- 36:55doing all this. I think that's awesome.
- 36:57Oh yeah, I mean, we have The Karate Kid relationship.
- 37:00I call him Sensei. He calls me Grasshopper.
- 37:03We've been calling us this for the longest time.
- 37:05I. Love that.
- 37:08I love that. Well, I think we're going to
- 37:09take another quick break and we're going to play a song you
- 37:12probably haven't heard, and it's going to be Joe Muse is the
- 37:17artist and the song is Dead Man Walking.
- 37:20Oh nice. Here we go.
- 41:52Military broadcast radio, the station that's giving veterans a
- 41:57voice. Find us on the web at NB Radio.

- 42:09of any entities they represent. Welcome back to the tree
- 42:14surrounds podcast and in in the chat.
- 42:18Joel was there, so H Train and Amber from Into the Weeds and
- 42:22Tony from Inside the Hoosier Mind.
- 42:24And we also had Jose Flores with the motivated mindset.
- 42:29So all these guys are hosts and and they're really digging your
- 42:33accent and they're digging what you do.
- 42:36And we do listen, and I do listen to you too at work when
- 42:40your show is on. I'm really excited.
- 42:42I appreciate that, Yeah. Hope you hope you make.
- 42:45I hope it's enjoyable at least. It's bearable at least.
- 42:50No, it's very enjoyable. I appreciate what you do and I
- 42:53get lots of opportunities. Since you're on several
- 42:55different times, I get lots of opportunities to hear you.
- 42:58And I was like, I need to have him on the show.
- 43:00How cool would that be? Oh, well, thank you.
- 43:04And I'm very, very glad to be here once again.
- 43:06And I will say this. I mean, I guess tonight it's all
- 43:09about the anecdotes. I feel like one of those old
- 43:12school, I feel like Keith Richards, they're kind of kind
- 43:14of relating his biography. Oh yo, back in the.
- 43:16Day we were doing this. No, I mean it, but no, I'm
- 43:20kidding. But I'm what I'm what I'm saying
- 43:22is when it comes to the accent. And that has been kind of been
- 43:26brought up multiple times, even in my interviews, because when I
- 43:29have most of my artists, the artists I talk to are from the
- 43:31states or from Canada, you know, North America mainly, and they
- 43:36always like I was expecting an Italian.
- 43:39Why do you sound British? And I'm like.
- 43:43This is just how I talk. And I mean, I, I guess tonight
- 43:46I'm going to, I'm going to reveal the secret behind that
- 43:48because a lot of people wonder what the story is behind this.
- 43:51Why I sound like this is well, I was born and raised here in
- 43:55Italy. My father is Italian and
- 43:57multiple generations. My mother is South African and
- 44:01she moved from South Africa to Italy when she was like 18 or
- 44:05whatever, met my father and here I am.
- 44:07But so that's that's why what's really weird is I did not
- 44:11inherit my mother's South African accent.
- 44:13I got this. I guess it's probably because
- 44:16also my grandmother, my maternal grandmother who lived in
- 44:20Brighton, England, she would send us, you know, my, myself
- 44:24and my siblings videotapes. When she came over to she'd
- 44:26bring us videotapes of TV shows from the UK.
- 44:30So we watched a lot of English teller, British television.
- 44:33And that might have been possibly influenced my accent.
- 44:36I don't know, but definitely developed my love for for
- 44:39British TV. Huge Doctor Who fan, of course,
- 44:42and, and all that. But some, Yeah.
- 44:44And that's. So if anybody's wondering, This
- 44:46is why I sound like this. I've actually, I've been told my
- 44:49accent is Estuary English, which I love that.
- 44:52I love the title, which kind of means within the London area,
- 44:57but not exactly. This was actually told me by a
- 44:59violinist and linguist. She's like, oh, because she is
- 45:03literally from England and she was listening to my accents like
- 45:06that's Estuary English. And I'm like, oh, OK, thank you.
- 45:08Now I have a name for it. That's good.
- 45:10Yeah. So it is interesting.
- 45:13And I wondered about that. I didn't ask, but I did wonder.
- 45:16So what do people think around you?
- 45:18Because you live in Italy and you have that accent.
- 45:20So do they think you belong there or do they think what are
- 45:23you doing here? Well, the The thing is this, it
- 45:26always surprises them because I am, you know, fluent.
- 45:30Obviously when I speak Italian, I've got an Milanese Italian
- 45:33accent because obviously born and raised in Milan.
- 45:35And when I open my mouth and speak English, I've got this.
- 45:38And they always flaws them because they're always like, oh,
- 45:42I wasn't. Expecting that.
- 45:44You know, and then this, they're just blown away by it because
- 45:47Italians, I mean, I, I love my country, don't get me wrong, but
- 45:52it, Italians are getting better at speaking English and
- 45:56especially the new, the, the latest generation.
- 45:58Now I sound like an old man, but that's how it is.
- 46:01The latest generation are getting good at it because
- 46:03they're starting to watch films and TV shows in the original
- 46:08language, mostly English with subtitles.
- 46:10So they're beginning to learn, you know, to speak it better.
- 46:15Fun fact, the, the, the theatre that I go to, the movie theatre
- 46:18I go to offers films in English with subtitles.
- 46:22And I'm so glad because I can't as much as we have the best
- 46:26dubbers in the world and actually, you know, famous stars
- 46:29from Hollywood want to meet their Italian dubbers because
- 46:32they're that impressed. So I'm not just saying that, but
- 46:36they offer because I want to always watch movies in the in
- 46:38the original language because I think it it conveys the true
- 46:41feelings as much as a double can a voice double can do.
- 46:44And so it's great to see so many folks going to these showings in
- 46:49the original language. Case in point, the other day I
- 46:52went to see the new Fantastic Four movie and within my movie
- 46:56theatre there were tons of folks and they were just speaking
- 46:58Italian, but they were there to watch it in the original
- 47:01language. And so I think it's a wonderful
- 47:02thing that we get that opportunity.
- 47:04I mean, I will even watch films during languages I don't speak.
- 47:08I love Squid Game, for example, and I watched it in Korean with
- 47:11the subtitles because I wanted to hear it in the original
- 47:14language. I know it's also dubbed, but I
- 47:16would rather hear it in the native language because I think
- 47:19it just brings forward more of the expression when it comes to
- 47:22watching ATV show or a movie. Sorry to to go down that that
- 47:26tangent there, Terry. No, no, I totally agree with
- 47:29you. I watched Rambo in French and it
- 47:33just does not have the same dynamic as when you're hearing
- 47:37it. You know, in English, hearing
- 47:39French, hearing Rambo speak French was.
- 47:43Imagine sliced alone in French. Was not good and I was like, no,
- 47:48I want to you know, I want to hear it in the language it was
- 47:50originally produced. And so I'm 100% with you on
- 47:53that. I think even if if I don't speak
- 47:55the language, the intent and the the acting is all geared towards
- 47:59the language and all the intonations and on the
- 48:01inflections are all about that language and so it conveys so
- 48:06much more of the meaning behind the movie and behind the feeling
- 48:10and everything that goes along with the dialogue.
- 48:12So I 100% agree with you. I'd rather watch subtitles in my
- 48:17language and hear the movie in whatever language it was written
- 48:21to be in. I totally agree with that.
- 48:23I think that's on point, and I think it's on point for songs
- 48:26too. When they translate a song from
- 48:29the the the the language it was written in and then they put it
- 48:33into English or another song, it kind of loses something in my
- 48:36opinion. You know, you bring up a great
- 48:38point because for the longest time in Italy, pop songs, I
- 48:42mean, of course they had the original, you know, they had
- 48:44their own. We have our own obviously pop
- 48:47songs. But for the longest time, way
- 48:49back when, so like in the 50s or the 60s or what have you, they
- 48:52would take famous, you know, English songs or, you know,
- 48:56English language songs and translate them into Italian.
- 49:00Or even more interesting, you would have the artist, the
- 49:04original artist who sang that in English, sing it in Italian.
- 49:07Neil Sedaka did that multiple times.
- 49:09Paul Anka did that multiple times and it would literally
- 49:13come over and they would sing the songs in Italian.
- 49:16And it was, I mean, it, it was kind of fun and it was it was an
- 49:20interesting thing. There's actually Speaking of
- 49:21country music, Faith Hill's song This Kiss, which is super
- 49:26popular, of course, then became popular for an Italian pop
- 49:30artist who changed, who had literally translated the song
- 49:33and, and made it her own. And it was so funny to go to my
- 49:37friends and say, you guys know this is actually an originally
- 49:40an American country song, right? None of them had a clue.
- 49:43I had to play it for them, but it was it's kind of fun.
- 49:47No, there are there are some, some, some, I I mean, it's hit
- 49:50and miss. Some of them, like you said, you
- 49:53lose the original sort of oomph that they have sometimes.
- 49:57I guess I I guess it it can work.
- 49:59I suppose it's also bias isn't in the sense that if you've
- 50:03heard that version first, you're attached to that particular
- 50:06version as well. Yes.
- 50:07Like a cover of a song. It's like, oh, they can never do
- 50:10that better. You know, I, I don't know, you
- 50:12think of knocking on heaven's door.
- 50:14Some people like, oh, Guns and Roses, you know, but there might
- 50:16be the Dylan fans like, no, it's the original Bob Dylan.
- 50:19I'm sorry. So it's it's it varies.
- 50:21That's true. I agree.
- 50:23That's true. Well, it's like, you know, I
- 50:24don't know if you know much about Supertramp.
- 50:26If you were a fan, I. Was a Supertramp.
- 50:28Fan and you know they sampled part of is it Breakfast in
- 50:33America off the album and they take a look at my girlfriend and
- 50:37they put it in another song and it works really well in there
- 50:40and I actually like that they included it.
- 50:42So they took something old and made it new again with other
- 50:45lyrics, you know that go along with it.
- 50:47And I like when they do that when they bring back something
- 50:50that was really iconic at the time, at least in my mind it was
- 50:54and and they put it in a new and a song and they're like Oh yeah
- 50:57that's super cool I'm like yeah that's a really old song.
- 50:59You didn't know that, did you? No.
- 51:01We know if you can then, you know, introduce it to a new
- 51:04audience. It's a great thing because
- 51:07you're you're they're getting exposed to something that that
- 51:10you know, was iconic and important and it's now being
- 51:13brought forward to another audience.
- 51:15Granted, might come there in a different form or different
- 51:18shape, but you know, it's, it makes me think of all Gov Kid
- 51:22rocks all summer long. Who folks were maybe not, not
- 51:25familiar with werewolves of London, you know, and, and such.
- 51:29And because obviously some folks have never heard of Warren
- 51:31Zevon, but you know, it kind of exposed them to that.
- 51:35Granted, for them it will only be Kid Rock.
- 51:37And they were like, oh, who's Warren Zevon?
- 51:39I don't know what this werewolves thing you're talking
- 51:41about, but I thought it was kind of fun when it came to, you
- 51:45know, that particular situation. Yeah, no, I agree.
- 51:50And I, I, I do like when they sample songs and they do kind of
- 51:52make something that's old new again.
- 51:55And then, like you say, expose it to another audience 'cause
- 51:57it, you know, really and truthfully, if you're just only
- 52:00listening to today's music, you're missing out.
- 52:03I mean, because there's so much good music that goes way, way
- 52:06back that if you're not listening to something that
- 52:09happened in the 50s and 60s, even 40s for that matter.
- 52:13Yeah, there's so much great stuff from the. 40s yes.
- 52:16I would really even wink in my parents eyes then.
- 52:20I mean my father hadn't yet been born.
- 52:21My father was born in 46 so. Yeah, right.
- 52:25But there's such good music because it's like music
- 52:27transcends time. And so good music is good music.
- 52:32It doesn't matter the genre. I mean, it really is good, you
- 52:36know, it can transcend relationships, everything, time
- 52:40and space, you know, good music is good music, period.
- 52:44I think, you know, so you shouldn't shut it out to just,
- 52:47well, it's not today's music. I don't want to hear it.
- 52:48That's old stuff. No, you, you bring up a great
- 52:51point, you know, recently, of course, you know, we lost the
- 52:55legend that was Ozzy Osbourne. And you know, I was obviously a
- 52:59huge fan of Aussies, but it makes me think of Black Sabbath.
- 53:03And if you think of the very first Black Sabbath record,
- 53:06which if I'm not wrong, came out in 1969 and you know, their,
- 53:10their, their, their title album. And I obviously I'd, I'd gotten
- 53:15into Aussie first because I guess, you know, I was old, I
- 53:18was younger, so I hadn't to sort of gotten on the Black Sabbath
- 53:21train, no pun intended. But you know, I was more, I was
- 53:25literally on the Blizzard of Oz stuff, etcetera.
- 53:27And then I was like, oh, let's check out his previous band,
- 53:29Black Sabbath. And I was listening to the first
- 53:31Black Sabbath record, like I said, 69 And my, my mother walks
- 53:35into my room. He's like, is that Black
- 53:37Sabbath? I'm like, yes, it is.
- 53:39I'm like, Mom, you know, Black Sabbath.
- 53:42She's like, what do you know about black?
- 53:43Sabbath mom, she's like this, she said.
- 53:45Of course I had the vinyl. I'm like, oh right, 1969, That
- 53:51explains it. Or, or heck, even my dad, who I
- 53:55I got, I got, you know, from Ozzy Osbourne.
- 53:57I got stuff like Alice Cooper. I love Alice Cooper with a
- 54:00passion. And my dad is like, oh, you
- 54:03know, yeah, I was going to like, parties when school's out was
- 54:06playing and like, Dang, my father listened to Alice Cooper.
- 54:10This is how many generations Alice stands with his music.
- 54:14And like you said, good music is his music, no matter what decade
- 54:17or period it was made in. But it blows my mind when you
- 54:20get to these artists you were like your parents were listening
- 54:23to and now you're listening to them and they're still going,
- 54:26you know, So and, and I of course, I hope that Alice keeps
- 54:29going for as long as he can. But, you know, as I said, it's
- 54:32it's just amazing that artists like him, you know, can have
- 54:35touched so many generations without him.
- 54:38Isn't. Yeah, it is amazing like Steven
- 54:41Tyler and. He knows I mean.
- 54:44He's been around a long time. And, you know, The Rolling
- 54:46Stones and Mick Jagger. I mean, like, you know, these,
- 54:51like you said, they're through the history of of our teenage
- 54:56years, our parents, they're maybe our kids even will still
- 55:00be listening to it. It's like, you know the.
- 55:03Mughals are still going live, aren't they?
- 55:05The Eagles, they lost well with one of the I.
- 55:09Really lost the guitarist, but didn't I think Vince Neil come
- 55:12in to replace him temporarily or something like?
- 55:14That yes, I think so. Vince.
- 55:16Vince Gill. Pardon me?
- 55:16Vince Gill? Yeah.
- 55:17Yeah, he did. He did for a while.
- 55:19And just like The Beach Boys, had the guy from Full House.
- 55:24What's his name? I just forgot his name but he
- 55:26was the drummer for a while. Yeah.
- 55:29Yeah, I don't know why I can't think of his name, but yeah, I
- 55:32love it when they get somebody that's a huge fan and they bring
- 55:35them in and then let them play, you know, because they've been
- 55:37studying the music for so long and playing on their own, so.
- 55:40Once again, introducing the Eagles to another generation,
- 55:43because the Eagles have been going on forever.
- 55:47Yes, Hotel California. I mean, that's iconic, right?
- 55:50I mean. California Desperado, you name?
- 55:53It Yes, exactly, exactly. Yeah, the Eagles.
- 55:57And then everybody has to go to Winslow, AZ and stand on the
- 56:00corner. They most certainly do.
- 56:04My sister even did it. She sent me a picture from
- 56:07Winslow, AZ standing on the corner.
- 56:09Yeah. Wow, that's amazing.
- 56:12Yeah, it's pretty neat how you get to sometimes live the music
- 56:16that you hear, you know, like you get to visit some of the
- 56:18places they're talking about or something, and it just brings
- 56:21all that music and those memories home, I think.
- 56:24Oh, I totally agree and see that at the same time though, when
- 56:27you listen to those bands or those artists maybe not around
- 56:29anymore. They they retired.
- 56:32You're really like, oh man, I wish I could have seen them live
- 56:34now. Yes, lately I'm not a big
- 56:36concert goer, but you know, if I had somebody told me know what
- 56:38concert would you like to? Where's your dream concert?
- 56:42I would say without, you know, even even thinking about it,
- 56:44Creedence Clearwater Revival. I would kill to see CCR with the
- 56:50original line up. I think, I believe John Fogerty
- 56:52is still doing stuff. I think he's not kind of gone.
- 56:54I don't know whether he's still with CCR where he's just a solo
- 56:57artist these days. But I would have killed to see
- 57:01CCR, you know, back in the day or the the old line up because
- 57:06that's another band that I I like so much because they
- 57:09transcend their genre. You can call them somewhat
- 57:13country. They're a little bit rock.
- 57:15They've got so many elements that they they are able to
- 57:18please so many folks from different backgrounds.
- 57:21I mean, because you can be a hardcore country music art a fan
- 57:24and love CCR. You can love rock'n'roll and you
- 57:26love CCR. You can be a pop fan, you love
- 57:29CCR because they are just that good that they can cater to so
- 57:34many different palettes. Yeah, no, I agree.
- 57:37I I think that's on point. I there's several artists I'd
- 57:41like to see too, that some of them are together, some of them
- 57:44aren't. But one of my favorite was Rick
- 57:46Springfield. I'm sorry, but I just love him
- 57:49and he's still performing and he's like 70 something now, I
- 57:52think, but he's still out there killing it.
- 57:55It's like there's a lot of them out there like that.
- 57:57I saw Bruce. Springsteen is still going which
- 58:00is insane. Yes, yes.
- 58:01And REO Speedwagon, I think they just announced they were
- 58:04stopping performing, but I I got to see them and they were one of
- 58:07my favourites. There's several like that.
- 58:09I haven't seen the Gem Blossoms yet.
- 58:11They're supposed to be in town in September and I want to see
- 58:14the Gem Blossoms. I love them so much, I love
- 58:16their music. I hope you get to see them.
- 58:18I've heard that the shows have always been good, you know, no
- 58:20matter what period. So I think you you I've heard
- 58:23it's treat. They're friends of mine.
- 58:25They're friends of mine who are fans of the gem blossoms.
- 58:27So I think really, yeah, if you get, I mean, I, The thing is, I,
- 58:31my, my friends have also very sort of eclectic tastes, some
- 58:36music and, and yeah, and I and some of my friends have actually
- 58:40gotten the chance to see him. And they're like, it was, it was
- 58:42epic. It was one of the best shows
- 58:44I've ever seen. And, and so, because if I, I
- 58:47thought maybe after so many years, they wouldn't be able to
- 58:49bring it, but man, they brought it.
- 58:50And so I would highly suggest if you get, if they're in your
- 58:53area, Terry, or you know, even a couple of states or a couple of
- 58:57states away, go for it. I know they're coming with the
- 59:00spin doctors. Oh wow, yeah, totally, totally
- 59:03have to go. Right I.
- 59:06Don't know people convincing them that.
- 59:08Right, that that right there is like, Oh yeah, let's go.
- 59:12Well, we're coming up on the end of our hour.
- 59:14And I really hate that because I really enjoyed our conversation
- 59:18and I really enjoyed talking to you about your career and then
- 59:21about music. Because it sounds like we kind
- 59:24of run in the same lanes of, you know, music appreciation, you
- 59:29know, like, it doesn't really matter if it's country because I
- 59:30love country too. And I love, you know, rock and I
- 59:35alternative like I love it all. If music is just, you know,
- 59:39what's the heartbeat? My heartbeat actually.
- 59:42And I feel like it's the heartbeat of America and all the
- 59:44other countries is because anything that we if we can't
- 59:48share anything else between our countries, we can share music
- 59:52and music, you know, bridges that gap sometimes and brings us
- 59:56together, you know, because I think I know this is kind of
- 59:58cliche, but music, I think heels.
- 1:00:02Heals the soul and can really put people together when they
- 1:00:05didn't think they had anything in common.
- 1:00:07I think music is our commonality and we can find some common
- 1:00:11ground if we can just share, you know, some music and a drink and
- 1:00:16relax, right? Amen.
- 1:00:18I couldn't have put it better myself.
- 1:00:19I think definitely music is a universal language.
- 1:00:22You know, even if you don't speak that language or
- 1:00:24understand that language, you can still Bob your head and, and
- 1:00:26tap your feet and, and have a good time.
- 1:00:28So that was very eloquently put, Terry.
- 1:00:30I couldn't, I couldn't add any more to that.
- 1:00:32And it's very sad that this hour has just flown by.
- 1:00:35I guess time goes, time goes, goes, flies by when you're
- 1:00:38having fun, I guess. I absolutely, I have enjoyed it
- 1:00:42so much. Is there anything you wanted to
- 1:00:43say right before we taking off? Anything that's coming up for
- 1:00:45you that you want to share with the group?
- 1:00:48Well, I guess First off, I want to thank you so much for your
