- 0:00Speaker 1: Mark Simons on WOR. Well, wait a minute. Hour number two,
- 0:12Speaker 1: if you just joined us, we start at nine o'clock
- 0:14Speaker 1: every day now. That's right, the show's three hours now,
- 0:16Speaker 1: nine to noon every day here on 710 WOR. So
- 0:23Speaker 1: that disgusting, creepy, bug-eyed, weirdo, dirty Jack Smith on hearings yesterday,
- 0:30Speaker 1: They went after him. Everybody taking shots at him. He
- 0:35Speaker 1: opens with a ridiculous statement about how he's nonpartisan. He
- 0:39Speaker 1: does not have nothing to do with Trump. There is politics.
- 0:44Speaker 1: This is like these statements Iran puts out. We have
- 0:46Speaker 1: nothing to do with terrorism. We've never supported terrorism. We
- 0:50Speaker 1: never wanted a nuclear weapon. Same thing as Iran. Same
- 0:52Speaker 1: kind of credibility. So this is Hawley going after him.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I've been watching this whole hearing.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I've watched everything you said. I noticed that you began
- 1:01Speaker 3: by saying, I have no partisan loyalty and you repeated
- 1:04Speaker 3: over and over and over, there's nothing in your investigation
- 1:07Speaker 3: about politics.
- 1:08Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 1:10Speaker 3: In fact, your investigation was all about politics. You twice
- 1:15Speaker 3: indicted a presidential candidate, the leading presidential candidate and a
- 1:19Speaker 3: former president of the United States, during a presidential election
- 1:22Speaker 3: against all Justice Department policy, against all Justice Department history,
- 1:28Speaker 3: something never before seen or contemplated in 250 years of
- 1:31Speaker 3: this country's history. You did it anyway, all for the
- 1:34Speaker 3: purpose of keeping Donald Trump off the ballot.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Everything he did. was totally against all policy. It was
- 1:43Speaker 1: totally unethical, immoral. It was disgusting trying to stop this guy.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So they got him on a thousand things in the
- 1:49Speaker 1: hearings yesterday. They caught him in a million deceptions, refusing
- 1:53Speaker 1: to answer, all kinds of terrible things. Now, there was
- 1:55Speaker 1: one moment where the Republican senator is going to accuse
- 1:59Speaker 1: him of having gone to a basketball game with Fonny Willis,
- 2:04Speaker 1: that other dirty prosecutor. And if you're watching CNN or
- 2:08Speaker 1: MSNBC or any of the left-wing stuff. This is what
- 2:12Speaker 1: they leaped on because the senator had it all wrong.
- 2:15Speaker 1: His accusation was 100% false. He had somehow, whoever came
- 2:20Speaker 1: up with this got it all mixed up. The accusation
- 2:23Speaker 1: was he was at a Hawks game with Fannie Willis. Well,
- 2:27Speaker 1: it turns out he was at a basketball game, but
- 2:29Speaker 1: it was a Hawkeyes game and it wasn't in Atlanta.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It was in Maryland. So the guy had it all wrong.
- 2:35Speaker 1: The accusation was all wrong. Terrible, embarrassing moment for this
- 2:39Speaker 1: guy But it had nothing to do with the rest
- 2:41Speaker 1: of the hearings. 99% of the hearings were dirt coming
- 2:45Speaker 1: out about Jack Smith. If you're watching CNN or MSNBC
- 2:48Speaker 1: or any fake news, you never heard about it. They
- 2:51Speaker 1: never mentioned it. All they showed you was the one
- 2:53Speaker 1: time the Republicans went after him, they were wrong. So
- 2:57Speaker 1: if you're one of those left-wing channel viewers, you come
- 3:00Speaker 1: away with a totally false impression. They never showed you
- 3:04Speaker 1: all the 9,000 clips of him getting caught in one
- 3:06Speaker 1: problem after another. This was that moment. This is Eric Schmidt.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Did you go to an NBA game between the Golden
- 3:12Speaker 4: State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks on February 3rd, 2024?
- 3:17Speaker 2: What city would that be in?
- 3:18Speaker 5: Atlanta.
- 3:20Speaker 6: No.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:23Speaker 4: So your testimony today is that you did not go
- 3:26Speaker 4: to a Hawks game on February 3rd, 2024.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Is that correct?
- 3:30Speaker 7: I have no recollection of that.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Okay.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Is it your testimony that you were not in Atlanta
- 3:34Speaker 4: on February 3rd, 2024?
- 3:38Speaker 1: Let me just give you a little context.
- 3:39Speaker 4: The day before Fannie Willis came clean with her affair
- 3:43Speaker 4: with the prosecutor, you know the Atlanta prosecutor that was
- 3:45Speaker 4: also trying to get Trump? The next day, were you
- 3:47Speaker 4: in Atlanta?
- 3:49Speaker 7: I do not believe so.
- 3:50Speaker 1: So this guy is building it up, building it up
- 3:53Speaker 1: so dramatic. Ooh, he's caught him in a big one. Well,
- 3:56Speaker 1: it turns out this senator is all wrong. The guy
- 3:58Speaker 1: was never at a game.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Did you ever meet Nathan Wade or Fannie Willis in
- 4:03Speaker 4: your time at special counsel?
- 4:06Speaker 2: No.
- 4:07Speaker 4: What would you say if I had a series of
- 4:08Speaker 4: text messages from your team that said you were in
- 4:11Speaker 4: Atlanta at a Warrior Hawks game on February 3rd, 2024,
- 4:15Speaker 4: the day after Willis and Wade announced their affair? I
- 4:19Speaker 4: don't think you know that we have this stuff. So
- 4:21Speaker 4: I'll give you a second to process it so you don't,
- 4:23Speaker 4: you know, perjure yourself.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Oh, it's so dramatic. Now it turns out this guy's
- 4:27Speaker 1: got it. I don't know where he got this story.
- 4:28Speaker 1: It's all wrong. And it turns out in a terrible moment. But,
- 4:33Speaker 1: but as I say, 99% of the rest of the
- 4:35Speaker 1: day was, Awful, terrible, disgusting stuff on Jack Smith. And again,
- 4:41Speaker 1: the left-wing networks never reported it. They make it look
- 4:44Speaker 1: like this is all that happened. But Smith finally figured
- 4:47Speaker 1: it out, Jack Smith, that they had the wrong game
- 4:50Speaker 1: the wrong day.
- 4:51Speaker 2: If this is the correct.
- 4:55Speaker 7: Basketball game, I recall going to a University of Maryland
- 4:59Speaker 7: basketball game where Caitlin Clark was playing right around that time.
- 5:06Speaker 7: and the Marshal Service was there with me. You could
- 5:08Speaker 7: check if that was the exact date. It was Maryland
- 5:11Speaker 7: playing Iowa, I think, February of 2024.
- 5:15Speaker 2: But again, you could.
- 5:16Speaker 7: Check that out if that's what we're talking about.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Is it the Hawkeyes?
- 5:21Speaker 6: Yes.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Could it then be that University of Iowa is the Hawkeyes?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Could that be it? And maybe before we show this
- 5:31Speaker 2: kind of thing.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah, so the senator got it all wrong and embarrassing
- 5:36Speaker 1: moment for him but nothing to do with the rest
- 5:38Speaker 1: of the hearing so again if you watched nbc nightly
- 5:41Speaker 1: news or abc night all they showed you was this
- 5:44Speaker 1: guy making this huge mistake they forgot to tell you
- 5:47Speaker 1: that the rest of the day jack smith was caught
- 5:50Speaker 1: in one piece of crap after another and he looked
- 5:53Speaker 1: horrible and who knows there could be criminal referrals coming
- 5:57Speaker 1: out of this against jack but they never told you
- 5:59Speaker 1: about any of that so hey this lindsey clancy lawyer
- 6:03Speaker 1: This old lawyer, this old country, looks like some old
- 6:08Speaker 1: country lawyer. It's actually Massachusetts. But the whole hearing was
- 6:14Speaker 1: the lawyer admitting that she killed her kids. Of course
- 6:18Speaker 1: she killed her kids. That's obvious. But the whole first
- 6:21Speaker 1: trial was him explaining why. It was about, you know,
- 6:25Speaker 1: she was traumatized. They had her on all kinds of medications.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They did so much psychological damage to her. So that
- 6:32Speaker 1: was the whole hearing. The whole trial. So it looks
- 6:35Speaker 1: like he's been negotiating to get the whole thing dropped.
- 6:38Speaker 1: He's been trying to plea bargain. He doesn't want a
- 6:41Speaker 1: second trial. He's been trying to negotiate no second trial. Well,
- 6:44Speaker 1: it looks like he's been unsuccessful. It looks like there's
- 6:47Speaker 1: going to be a second trial. So now he's changing
- 6:51Speaker 1: the whole case completely. Now he's arguing that they didn't
- 6:53Speaker 1: prove anything, that there's no DNA. There's no evidence. I
- 6:56Speaker 1: don't know how on earth he thinks he's going to
- 6:59Speaker 1: get away with that. They can just read the transcript
- 7:01Speaker 1: from the first trial. where he admits she did it.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So I don't know what this guy is thinking.
- 7:06Speaker 8: It was not even a horrendous investigation. There was no investigation.
- 7:10Speaker 8: This entire case is based on speculation. Where is the admission?
- 7:17Speaker 8: Where does she say that she did this? And what's
- 7:20Speaker 8: most chilling is the fact that when she comes out
- 7:26Speaker 8: of this obvious coma that she is in, That when
- 7:31Speaker 8: she comes out of it, Your Honor heard the testimony
- 7:34Speaker 8: from the psychiatrist and from the doctors at Brigham and
- 7:36Speaker 8: Women's Hospital.
- 7:39Speaker 2: She was told what happened. She had no memory of
- 7:44Speaker 2: what happened.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Well, you've got to give this guy credit. To have
- 7:49Speaker 1: this kind of nerve to pull this crap. The whole
- 7:52Speaker 1: trial you admitted she did it. This is like pathological
- 7:57Speaker 1: chutzpah from... from this guy. Unbelievable. So it looks like
- 8:02Speaker 1: there will be a second trial, which is good for us.
- 8:06Speaker 1: We have plenty to talk about. But this old codger here,
- 8:11Speaker 1: this is the end of his career. He's about 75.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Not a very distinguished legal career, not a lot of victories.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So this is a big, big, big note for him
- 8:20Speaker 1: to go out on. That's why he's playing this up. Hey,
- 8:23Speaker 1: this crazy mom, Donnie, is now battling anti-Semitism. He's the
- 8:30Speaker 1: biggest anti-Semite on earth. He's allowed anti-Semitism to spread. More
- 8:34Speaker 1: than allowing it, he's encouraged it. He's the absolute worst
- 8:38Speaker 1: when it comes to anti-Semitism, but now he's pretending that
- 8:42Speaker 1: he's gonna fight it. And he's, listen to this guy.
- 8:45Speaker 9: Anti-Semitism is real and it is growing. Here in New
- 8:48Speaker 9: York City, while our Jewish neighbors make up only 12%
- 8:51Speaker 9: of the population, NYPD statistics show that anti-Semitic hate crimes
- 8:56Speaker 9: account for more than half of all confirmed hate crimes.
- 8:59Speaker 9: This is not only unacceptable, it's something we all have
- 9:02Speaker 9: an obligation to change.
- 9:04Speaker 1: There you go. He's a man of principle. Or not,
- 9:08Speaker 1: depending on what the situation calls for. Depending on what
- 9:11Speaker 1: the TikTok video is going to be. But give him
- 9:13Speaker 1: credit for being able to put on that voice. All
- 9:17Speaker 1: of a sudden he's... Anti-Semitism is very real. All of
- 9:20Speaker 1: a sudden he's very concerned about it.
- 9:22Speaker 5: After.
- 9:23Speaker 1: After being the most anti-Semitic guy in the world and
- 9:26Speaker 1: encouraging and pushing it.
- 9:28Speaker 9: Jewish New Yorkers should feel cherished and celebrated in the
- 9:31Speaker 9: most Jewish city in America. That's why we are investing
- 9:34Speaker 9: millions in Jewish cultural centers and nonprofits.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Again, you got to give him credit for the nerve
- 9:44Speaker 1: of this guy to try to pull this crap on us.
- 9:48Speaker 1: So his pied-à-terre tax, which is about the, it's more
- 9:52Speaker 1: hocal than him. And actually, it's Cuomo. You know, all
- 9:55Speaker 1: the bad stuff Cuomo did to New York, the no bail,
- 9:58Speaker 1: the no jail, it's an endless list. of horrible, horrible
- 10:01Speaker 1: things Cuomo did to New York. One of them is
- 10:04Speaker 1: this Pierre de Terratax. He was the first guy I
- 10:06Speaker 1: remember pushing this publicly, talking about a Pierre de Terratax.
- 10:09Speaker 1: So it's Kathy Hochul and Mamdani. They love to tax
- 10:15Speaker 1: you to death. Any way they can tax you, anything
- 10:17Speaker 1: they can tax. But the pied-a-terre tax hit a big snag.
- 10:21Speaker 1: A judge ruled against it. He didn't rule against the
- 10:25Speaker 1: tax itself. He didn't say it was wrong. But he
- 10:27Speaker 1: said the rollout was wrong. The way they did it
- 10:30Speaker 1: was wrong. Basically, they sent out 17,000 letters to people.
- 10:36Speaker 1: And many of them didn't have a pied-a-terre tax. It
- 10:38Speaker 1: was the home they live in. I think even the
- 10:41Speaker 1: Staten Island borough president, Vito Fasella, got one. I think
- 10:45Speaker 1: it was his father's house. His father lives there. His
- 10:46Speaker 1: father's never lived anywhere else. Never had another house. He
- 10:49Speaker 1: gets one of these letters that he's a pied-a-terre. So
- 10:52Speaker 1: 17,000 notices were sent out, and most of them false,
- 10:57Speaker 1: most of them wrong. But they were sent to residents,
- 11:01Speaker 1: and it was up to them, the resident, to try
- 11:03Speaker 1: to prove that the government was wrong. Well, and this
- 11:07Speaker 1: is the right decision. The judge ruled that's absolutely insane.
- 11:11Speaker 1: The burden is not on the homeowner. The burden is
- 11:13Speaker 1: on the government to prove their case. And the government
- 11:16Speaker 1: has access to everything. Tax records, driver's license, everything. They
- 11:21Speaker 1: can see where you live or where you don't live.
- 11:24Speaker 1: So the judge ruled against them. Mamdani appealed the ruling immediately.
- 11:29Speaker 1: The city is pushing for this tax to raise $ 500 million.
- 11:32Speaker 1: There's no reason for that. The budget in New York
- 11:36Speaker 1: City is double what it should be. You could cut
- 11:38Speaker 1: this budget by $ 20 billion without blinking. So there's no
- 11:43Speaker 1: reason for this tax. Now, a lot of... Wealthy guys
- 11:46Speaker 1: are joining in. Steve Wynn has joined in. He's got
- 11:50Speaker 1: a bill for $ 183, 000 for this. And Wilbur Ross, the
- 11:55Speaker 1: former commerce secretary, got a bill for $ 83, 000. So they've
- 11:59Speaker 1: filed their own lawsuits. See, the problem is these are
- 12:03Speaker 1: very wealthy guys. These are billionaires. And a billionaire can
- 12:09Speaker 1: do a lot of stuff. They've got an army of
- 12:11Speaker 1: attorneys working. They got an army of experts. They got
- 12:15Speaker 1: endless money and resources. They can fight you. Even if
- 12:17Speaker 1: you had government, they can fight you. But see, the
- 12:20Speaker 1: problem with these guys, these are retired billionaires. Now, if
- 12:24Speaker 1: you're running Amazon, you're pretty busy all day. But these
- 12:29Speaker 1: are retired billionaires. They got nothing to do all day.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And one thing about billionaires, they love a fight, a battle.
- 12:35Speaker 1: They love to work all day. They love a project.
- 12:37Speaker 1: So you get a retired guy who's had nothing to do,
- 12:40Speaker 1: who's sitting in Palm Beach, They're going to the same
- 12:43Speaker 1: dinner parties with the same crowd. He loves this. He
- 12:46Speaker 1: comes to life with this kind of battle. So Mamdani's
- 12:48Speaker 1: going to have a problem. These guys are going to really,
- 12:50Speaker 1: really go after Mamdani. And it's a good thing. So, hey,
- 12:56Speaker 1: Bruce Blakeman. Now, the campaign is in the final month,
- 13:00Speaker 1: but it's going to turn to taxes. Hochul's a big
- 13:03Speaker 1: tax hiker. She believes in high taxes. She believes in
- 13:06Speaker 1: taxing everything. Blakeman has put out a tax plan that
- 13:10Speaker 1: everybody says is phenomenal. Absolutely brilliant. He wants to slash
- 13:15Speaker 1: taxes in New York by $ 35 billion. That's right, $ 35 billion.
- 13:20Speaker 1: We're overtaxed like crazy. It's about $ 7, 000 for the average family.
- 13:25Speaker 1: So under his tax plan, the average family will get
- 13:27Speaker 1: a $ 7, 000 tax savings. Low-income taxpayers would benefit the most.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Plan calls for eliminating all taxes. If you make under $ 50, 000,
- 13:39Speaker 1: no taxes. If you're a married couple, And you're below $ 100, 000.
- 13:42Speaker 1: No taxes at all. So that means the average couple
- 13:47Speaker 1: in 45 of the 62 counties would pay no tax.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So on top of that, he wants to cut property tax.
- 13:55Speaker 1: He wants to lower utility bills, cut them in half.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Cuomo raised your utility bills when he closed Indian Point
- 14:03Speaker 1: and banned fracking. And Hochul continued this policy. So it's
- 14:07Speaker 1: a brilliant tax plan. Now, he's got to get this
- 14:10Speaker 1: out there. There's going to be one debate, but he's
- 14:13Speaker 1: got to really get this out there, and that'll make
- 14:16Speaker 1: a big difference. Anyway, we'll talk more about that. We'll
- 14:18Speaker 1: take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 14:20Speaker 5: 800-321-0710.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Now 9 till noon weekday. Smart Simone. Only on 710WOR. Hey, well,
- 14:38Speaker 1: during this break, we had two of our top engineers
- 14:42Speaker 1: working on the phones. Well, let's see. Let's see if
- 14:48Speaker 1: this was successful. First, I'll try the old-fashioned way. Jim
- 14:52Speaker 1: in New Jersey.
- 14:52Speaker 5: No.
- 14:53Speaker 1: All right, I'll try the new way. Let's see if
- 14:55Speaker 1: this works. No. Let's try Rob.
- 15:02Speaker 7: No.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I don't know why it doesn't work now. You guys
- 15:07Speaker 1: will have to pick it up in there. Let's go
- 15:09Speaker 1: to Jim in New Jersey. Jim, how you doing?
- 15:14Speaker 6: Two quick points. I think two of the best Yankee
- 15:16Speaker 6: announcers are still alive. They're in their 90s. One would
- 15:19Speaker 6: be Bill White, and the other is Tony Kubik.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Tony Kubik is still alive?
- 15:25Speaker 6: Yes, he is. Early 90s. Mark, I got a little confused.
- 15:27Speaker 6: You mentioned Manalapan. You know there is a Manalapan in
- 15:30Speaker 6: New Jersey, you know.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'm talking about the good one.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Well, you know what the New Jersey one is famous for?
- 15:37Speaker 1: I hate to ask.
- 15:38Speaker 6: That's where the largest battle of the American Revolution was there,
- 15:41Speaker 6: the Battle of Monmouth. Molly Pitcher.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Well, we like Manalapan in New Jersey, but there's a
- 15:48Speaker 1: Manalapan right below Palm Beach. It's very, very hot right now,
- 15:52Speaker 1: real estate-wise. All right. Thanks for calling. Hey, you know
- 15:57Speaker 1: who I saw last night? Uncle Junior. Dominic Chianese. He's
- 16:01Speaker 1: got to be like 95. He was out having dinner.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Very good shape. Let's go to... Oh, hey, I got
- 16:09Speaker 1: it that time. Let's go to Bob in Long Island. Bob,
- 16:11Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 16:13Speaker 2: All right, Bob.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Go Buchanan.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Go Buchanan.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yes, the Buchanan guy. All right. Here's the problem. I
- 16:20Speaker 1: can't hang up. That's the problem. The hang up button
- 16:22Speaker 1: doesn't work. Can you get rid of Bob in there?
- 16:27Speaker 1: We're trying to get our phones working. Let's try Ralph
- 16:31Speaker 1: in Manhattan. Ralph, how are you doing?
- 16:34Speaker 5: You know, Mark, if Hochul wins again, you know that
- 16:38Speaker 5: New York is through. I mean, Blakeman just proposed something
- 16:41Speaker 5: so brilliant and so great for New York. If they
- 16:45Speaker 5: turn around and reject him, it's all over, Mark.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I hate to break it to you. It's bad if
- 16:51Speaker 1: she wins, but it's not all over.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It's not through.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Everything will be fine. We've survived everything. Jimmy Carter, Joe Biden.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It's not.
- 16:59Speaker 5: I get what you mean. I'm a little I'm a
- 17:01Speaker 5: little drastic, but it's unbelievable how they keep voting for
- 17:05Speaker 5: people that have no clue whatsoever. I mean, she was
- 17:08Speaker 5: the you know, the the carry the water for our
- 17:11Speaker 5: friend Cuomo back in the old days. And she she
- 17:16Speaker 5: surged to such high levels as such a. I mean,
- 17:18Speaker 5: I don't understand why people can ever even praise her
- 17:22Speaker 5: in any way.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Shape, or form.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Well, I can explain it, but thanks for calling. You know,
- 17:27Speaker 1: the problem is most people don't get any real news.
- 17:30Speaker 1: They'll read the New York Times. They'll watch MSNBC. So
- 17:33Speaker 1: they never hear all the bad stuff that these people do.
- 17:35Speaker 1: They'll never hear the real story about anything. You know,
- 17:40Speaker 1: Cuomo did so much damage to us with the no bail,
- 17:43Speaker 1: no jail, with the closing Indian point, with the, closing
- 17:46Speaker 1: of prisons, letting all the prisoners out. I mean, you
- 17:49Speaker 1: can go on and on. But one of them, don't
- 17:51Speaker 1: forget one of them, he's the guy that picked Kathy Hochul.
- 17:54Speaker 1: He's the guy that chose Kathy Hochul for us. Let's
- 17:57Speaker 1: see if I can try this one. No, it doesn't work.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You've got to do it. Rob in Franklin Square. Rob,
- 18:02Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 18:03Speaker 10: Hi, Mark. You know, you can blame the judges on this.
- 18:07Speaker 10: That should be summarily dismissed, what they didn't prove the
- 18:10Speaker 10: case with the, you know, it's so stupid with the
- 18:13Speaker 10: old coots thing. But can I mention something about Comics Unleashed?
- 18:16Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Comics Unleashed. Very good show. Byron Allen.
- 18:20Speaker 10: I deviated. You know, over the 20 years, but they
- 18:23Speaker 10: only did four seasons, though.
- 18:25Speaker 1: No, no. 2006. They've done tons of seasons. They do
- 18:29Speaker 1: take some time.
- 18:29Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Let's get this guy off the air. We can't broadcast
- 18:32Speaker 1: false information. They've done plenty of seasons. Comics Unleashed. It's
- 18:37Speaker 1: a very good show. It's on CBS every night now
- 18:40Speaker 1: at 1130. on CBS. It replaced Colbert and it's doing
- 18:44Speaker 1: much better than Colbert. In fact, in the most important thing,
- 18:48Speaker 1: which is the 18 to 49 demo, it is wiping
- 18:52Speaker 1: out Kimmel and Fallon. It's pretty amazing. Comics Unleashed. What's today? Wednesday. Uh,
- 19:00Speaker 1: in fact, tomorrow night, my friend Dave Koenig is on
- 19:03Speaker 1: a very good comedian. He'll be on Comics Unleashed, uh,
- 19:06Speaker 1: tomorrow night. Take a look at it. In fact, it's
- 19:08Speaker 1: doing so well that, uh, CBS is going to do
- 19:12Speaker 1: a primetime special, an hour of Comics Unleashed. This is
- 19:16Speaker 1: Byron Allen, the comedian who became a producer, a businessman,
- 19:22Speaker 1: went from comedian to making himself a billion dollars. He's
- 19:26Speaker 1: a billionaire. I can't think of any other, maybe Cosby,
- 19:29Speaker 1: comedian that became a billionaire. Oh, Seinfeld, but it's very,
- 19:32Speaker 1: very few. It's a short list. So the thing about
- 19:35Speaker 1: Comics Unleashed, there's no political jokes of any kind and
- 19:39Speaker 1: no topical jokes. So they could take a show from
- 19:43Speaker 1: five years ago to 15 years ago and run it today.
- 19:45Speaker 1: They're as fresh as can be. They're in syndication all
- 19:49Speaker 1: over the place. Hey, when we come back, we'll take
- 19:52Speaker 1: a look at the midterms. It's only 34 days away.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's like one month till the midterms. What can Republicans do?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Where does it really stand? We'll talk to the dean himself,
- 20:03Speaker 1: the great political analyst, Ed Rollins. We'll talk to him
- 20:06Speaker 1: next time. 710 WOR. Mark Simone here. Three hours every day.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Don't forget, it's three hours. We start at 9 a.m.
- 20:14Speaker 1: It's 9 to noon every day. And it's an action-packed
- 20:17Speaker 1: first hour. Make sure you don't miss the first hour.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Mark Simone, live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Well, let's
- 20:29Speaker 1: talk to the dean himself. Ed Rollins has been in
- 20:32Speaker 1: a lot of White Houses. He's run a lot of campaigns.
- 20:35Speaker 1: He's run some of the most successful campaigns in history,
- 20:38Speaker 1: and he's with us now. Ed Rollins, how you doing?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark. How are you?
- 20:43Speaker 1: Very good. 34 days until the midterms. What do you think?
- 20:47Speaker 1: How does it look to you?
- 20:49Speaker 2: It doesn't look good. I mean, being perfectly honest, I
- 20:53Speaker 2: would bet the house is gone and the people that
- 20:56Speaker 2: watch these things closely are betting heavily on that. But
- 21:01Speaker 2: the question is, is it by 10 votes or is
- 21:03Speaker 2: it by 10? 25 votes, the difference. And that's a
- 21:08Speaker 2: big difference. The thing that I think none of us
- 21:10Speaker 2: anticipated a couple months ago is incentives in play now.
- 21:13Speaker 2: And if for some reason the president's party loses the Senate,
- 21:18Speaker 2: then he's got two miserable years ahead. And I think
- 21:21Speaker 2: the thing that we all were hopeful for is he's
- 21:24Speaker 2: got hundreds of millions of dollars sitting in a fund,
- 21:28Speaker 2: a PAC fund, that we thought was going to be
- 21:30Speaker 2: put in these races. And we now see that he's
- 21:33Speaker 2: running free campaigns paid for by the government, which is
- 21:36Speaker 2: only to antagonize people, and they're not very good ads
- 21:39Speaker 2: about himself. And I think to a certain extent, if
- 21:42Speaker 2: you want to be successful, you've got to go out
- 21:43Speaker 2: and convince voters that I need this congressman, I need
- 21:46Speaker 2: this senator, I need them desperately to finish my agenda
- 21:50Speaker 2: in the last two years, and I don't see that
- 21:52Speaker 2: happening at this point in time.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Now, nobody's a better fighter, battler than Donald Trump. Why
- 21:57Speaker 1: has he fallen asleep here on this?
- 22:00Speaker 2: I think he's either getting bad information or he doesn't
- 22:03Speaker 2: believe any of this. You know, if you don't believe
- 22:06Speaker 2: your pollsters, you don't believe the polls, or if you
- 22:08Speaker 2: don't think it matters, you don't care about the House
- 22:11Speaker 2: and the Senate, then you don't do the right thing.
- 22:15Speaker 2: And the other thing is there's nobody in this administration
- 22:18Speaker 2: that can help candidates. If I was running a campaign,
- 22:21Speaker 2: there's not a single member of this cabinet that I
- 22:23Speaker 2: would want to come out, except possibly Rubio, and he
- 22:26Speaker 2: can't come out as a secretary of state, and he's
- 22:27Speaker 2: got 15 jobs already. uh there's not a single person
- 22:31Speaker 2: in this cabinet i mean if i'm if i got
- 22:32Speaker 2: problems with the ag community i don't want i don't
- 22:34Speaker 2: want secretary rollins to come out and tell me we
- 22:37Speaker 2: don't need beef uh because other means of getting protein
- 22:40Speaker 2: when the beef market is dying i don't want the
- 22:43Speaker 2: energy seconds here to come out and tell me that
- 22:44Speaker 2: the things are going to be great when oh and
- 22:46Speaker 2: diesel fuel is seven eight nine dollars a gallon so
- 22:50Speaker 2: you know my sense is in the five weeks we
- 22:52Speaker 2: have left here uh Uh, it's late. People are already
- 22:56Speaker 2: voting now by absentee ballots in other places. And I
- 22:58Speaker 2: think in the next couple of weeks, uh, uh, unless
- 23:01Speaker 2: something dramatically happens on the war economy, which I don't anticipate, uh, it's,
- 23:06Speaker 2: it's not going to be, it's not going to be
- 23:07Speaker 2: a good election.
- 23:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Hey, the economy, you look at the real numbers, the
- 23:11Speaker 1: economy is in great shape. I know gas is high,
- 23:13Speaker 1: but the economy is in great shape. But most people
- 23:15Speaker 1: are watching the news where they're told every day it's
- 23:17Speaker 1: a disaster, economic disaster. What, what do Republicans do about that?
- 23:22Speaker 1: The fake news, the bad, uh, gaslighting of the.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Well they should be doing something about that you know
- 23:29Speaker 2: and instead you know the reality here is you know
- 23:33Speaker 2: the president's out there talking about uh uh i'm gonna
- 23:36Speaker 2: i'm raising warnings about the deep state the warmongers globalist
- 23:41Speaker 2: marxist communist and fascist that was joe mccarthy's thing when
- 23:44Speaker 2: i was eight years old 50 years ago uh it
- 23:47Speaker 2: didn't work then it's not going to work now you
- 23:50Speaker 2: got to go out and you got to basically point
- 23:51Speaker 2: out these these new democrats who what they're about, and
- 23:55Speaker 2: define them before they define us. And I think to
- 23:58Speaker 2: a certain extent, those terms, globalist, Marxist, communist, fascist, it's
- 24:05Speaker 2: hard to tell anybody what that means. What you can, though,
- 24:09Speaker 2: is you can take someone like the mayor of New
- 24:11Speaker 2: York and you can take someone like some of the
- 24:12Speaker 2: other candidates and define what they are. This is what
- 24:15Speaker 2: they stand for, and this is what I stand for,
- 24:17Speaker 2: and this is what the Republican Party stands It needs
- 24:19Speaker 2: to be saying, I need these Republicans to help me
- 24:22Speaker 2: finish the last two years to get the economy moving again,
- 24:25Speaker 2: to basically get my peace plan and all the rest
- 24:28Speaker 2: of it. Right now, it's not credible.
- 24:30Speaker 1: So if Democrats win the House, they'll be impeaching Trump
- 24:34Speaker 1: all the time. But if they win the Senate, what
- 24:37Speaker 1: does that mean? They could convict him, right, and remove him?
- 24:41Speaker 2: I don't think they'd convict him, and I think it'd
- 24:42Speaker 2: be terrible for them to even try it for them.
- 24:45Speaker 2: What they can do is they can batter him, they
- 24:47Speaker 2: can block everything, they can basically— control of money. The
- 24:51Speaker 2: truth of the matter is the House under the President's
- 24:54Speaker 2: speaker has been an arm of the White House. It
- 24:58Speaker 2: will not be an arm of the White House if
- 24:59Speaker 2: the Democrats control it. It will be every single thing
- 25:02Speaker 2: the President will have to fight for. And he doesn't care.
- 25:04Speaker 2: He's an 80-year-old man. He's got the things that he's
- 25:09Speaker 2: interested in, which right now are not what the country's
- 25:11Speaker 2: interested in. The country doesn't care about a ballroom in
- 25:16Speaker 2: the White House. The country doesn't care about a wading
- 25:18Speaker 2: pool The country doesn't care about tearing down the Kennedy Center.
- 25:22Speaker 2: If they care, it's a negative side. So I think
- 25:26Speaker 2: to a certain extent he needs to be talking about
- 25:27Speaker 2: the big picture, what happens after the Iranian war is settled,
- 25:31Speaker 2: how do we keep peace in the world, how do
- 25:33Speaker 2: we get the job market back in a more effective place.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And he's been a great communicator in the past, but
- 25:40Speaker 2: he's not been a good communicator right now. I don't
- 25:42Speaker 2: think his heart's in it.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Ed Rollins, you've sat through a lot of administrations. You've
- 25:48Speaker 1: been in a lot of white houses. You've been there
- 25:50Speaker 1: till the end. How do you think this ends for
- 25:53Speaker 1: Donald Trump in two years?
- 25:54Speaker 2: How do you think it's going to end? It doesn't
- 25:57Speaker 2: end well.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Really?
- 25:58Speaker 2: No, I don't think it does. You know, especially if
- 26:02Speaker 2: the Democrats take control, there'll be a very severe opposition.
- 26:06Speaker 2: You know, historians will go back and basically rewrite the
- 26:11Speaker 2: negative stuff that's you know, he's had his peak periods.
- 26:15Speaker 2: And I think to a certain extent, you know, he
- 26:17Speaker 2: still can bring, if he develops a piece in the
- 26:20Speaker 2: Middle East that other people salute and respond to. But,
- 26:25Speaker 2: you know, it doesn't seem to be doing that. And
- 26:28Speaker 2: I think to a certain extent, unless the economy's booming
- 26:31Speaker 2: and the promises that he's making that it will be booming,
- 26:35Speaker 2: it has to be proven to the American public. It's
- 26:36Speaker 2: not right now.
- 26:37Speaker 1: But, you know, you study his history in business and whatever,
- 26:41Speaker 1: when he's really down, when they really got him, when
- 26:44Speaker 1: he was wiped out, that's when he always battles back
- 26:46Speaker 1: and comes out better than ever. You don't think that
- 26:48Speaker 1: could happen here?
- 26:49Speaker 2: Well, I think there's a big difference between battling back
- 26:52Speaker 2: and coming back in a city like New York, where
- 26:55Speaker 2: you're building buildings, putting your names on them, as opposed
- 26:58Speaker 2: to basically running a government that the opposition is very
- 27:01Speaker 2: severe and has... Right now, the last two years, he's
- 27:05Speaker 2: controlled every element of abortion in D.C., and I think
- 27:08Speaker 2: that's what he's going to be measured on. But the
- 27:11Speaker 2: last two years... As I said, I think if the
- 27:14Speaker 2: Democrats try and impeach him, that's not what the country wants.
- 27:17Speaker 2: The country wants, and if the Democrats want to have
- 27:19Speaker 2: more than two years in office, they've got to go
- 27:22Speaker 2: show the ability to move the ball forward. Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Hey, Ed Ronson, Bruce Blakeman catching up in the polls.
- 27:30Speaker 1: He's put out an incredible, a brilliant tax plan that
- 27:33Speaker 1: would reduce taxes on everybody. What do you think Bruce
- 27:36Speaker 1: Blakeman's chances are?
- 27:37Speaker 2: I think he has a better chance than most Republicans
- 27:39Speaker 2: across the country. I mean, New York's a tough state for,
- 27:42Speaker 2: for Republicans, but, uh, I think he's run a good campaign. Uh, the,
- 27:45Speaker 2: the problem is everything, everything is so negative. You know,
- 27:49Speaker 2: you've got to win these things before the last three
- 27:51Speaker 2: or four weeks. Uh, I think he has the momentum. Uh,
- 27:54Speaker 2: she's a terrible candidate, uh, terrible governor. I knew I'm
- 27:57Speaker 2: a good candidate here. Uh, and I think he's been
- 28:00Speaker 2: a good candidate. Uh, he's got, he's got something. I
- 28:03Speaker 2: think if there's any bright spot, it's there. Uh, uh,
- 28:06Speaker 2: but he's got to have money. He's got to have resources.
- 28:08Speaker 2: And I think to a certain extent, uh, he's got
- 28:11Speaker 2: a plan that obviously most tech, most New Yorkers would
- 28:13Speaker 2: like this plan. If they can get, get through the,
- 28:15Speaker 2: all of the dialogue, the campaigning, I can just say,
- 28:18Speaker 2: I haven't been around this business for 50 years. Um,
- 28:22Speaker 2: the negative advertising that's everywhere is terrible. Every, and it's,
- 28:27Speaker 2: it's hard to break through, uh, Democrats or Republicans. Uh,
- 28:31Speaker 2: and right now it's all, I think the country turns
- 28:34Speaker 2: it out, uh, Now, the advantage the Republicans have had
- 28:37Speaker 2: is this $ 4 or $ 5 billion PAC fund that Trump has.
- 28:42Speaker 2: And he's not spending that money. He needs to spend
- 28:45Speaker 2: that money and spend it quick because we're down the
- 28:47Speaker 2: short areas here.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Well, if Trump is listening and he says, that's it,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm going to fix this, what could he actually do
- 28:55Speaker 1: at this point? It's only a month away.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Well, he can go out and save some of these
- 28:59Speaker 2: Senate races and he can go out there and basically
- 29:01Speaker 2: talk about things that matter. And again, what matters is
- 29:04Speaker 2: not is not a ballroom. Convention center ballrooms. You know,
- 29:11Speaker 2: you look at that White House. I mean, take last week.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I mean, the stupid fight with CNN and MSNBC and
- 29:17Speaker 2: what have you. He had two days of monumental meetings
- 29:22Speaker 2: with the head of China. Most people in the country
- 29:27Speaker 2: didn't see it. You know, for a stupid, stupid fight
- 29:30Speaker 2: over CNN and MSNBC that maybe has two million viewers
- 29:34Speaker 2: a day. He's got to basically just get out there
- 29:37Speaker 2: and have a plan. I don't see a plan. And
- 29:41Speaker 2: I'm a Trump guy in the past and a super PAC.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I just don't see a plan. And I don't know
- 29:47Speaker 2: what's going on with the White House people. I don't
- 29:48Speaker 2: know where they are. You know, we've got candidates out
- 29:52Speaker 2: there basically in Iowa and Texas and Florida running in trouble.
- 29:59Speaker 2: I mean, we're fighting for the governorship of Florida. We're
- 30:01Speaker 2: fighting for the Senate seat in Texas, two of the
- 30:04Speaker 2: strongest states we have. And right now they're question marks. People,
- 30:10Speaker 2: places like Iowa, Kansas, you know, it's just, to me,
- 30:14Speaker 2: it's mind-boggling.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Wow. Well, Ed Rollins, great as always. Always good having
- 30:18Speaker 1: you with us. We'll do it again soon. And thanks
- 30:21Speaker 1: for being with us.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Take care, Bob.
- 30:22Speaker 6: All right.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Take care. All right. Not the most encouraging report there, but... Hey,
- 30:28Speaker 1: we've got another hour to go. Now, don't forget the
- 30:30Speaker 1: show's three hours now. Nine to noon. I start at nine.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Three hours. Nine to noon every day. And then at noon,
- 30:37Speaker 1: you've got Buck Saxton and Clay Travis.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Great show.
- 30:40Speaker 1: And then you've got the most listened to radio show
- 30:42Speaker 1: in America, Sean Hannity at three. Jesse Kelly at six.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Jimmy Fallon. It's such a funny but brilliant show. Every night,
- 30:51Speaker 1: nine to midnight, here on 710WOR.
