Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, February 7th.
- 0:11Walk straight, stand strong. Have you ever felt that quiet
- 0:15pull to just blend in, To not make waves, to do what everyone
- 0:18else is doing, even though something inside you says this
- 0:21isn't right? That tension shows up more often
- 0:25than we like to admit. It's in the small moments, the
- 0:28shortcuts, the half truths, the compromises we tell ourselves
- 0:32don't really matter. But those moments are shaping us
- 0:35more than we realize. Proverbs chapter 10, verse 9
- 0:39speaks directly into that space. It says whoever walks in
- 0:43integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will
- 0:47be found out. Integrity isn't about being
- 0:50perfect. It's about choosing a straight
- 0:53path, even when a crooked 1 looks easier.
- 0:56God's Word reminds us that integrity brings security.
- 1:00There's a quiet confidence that comes when you don't have to
- 1:02look over your shoulder, when you don't have to keep track of
- 1:05lies or excuses, when your life lines up with what you say you
- 1:09believe. Acts Chapter 7 gives us one of
- 1:13the most powerful pictures of what it means to stand strong.
- 1:16Stephen is facing intense opposition.
- 1:19He's misunderstood, falsely accused, and surrounded by
- 1:23people who want to silence him. Yet Acts Chapter 7 verse 55
- 1:28tells us that Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into
- 1:32heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right
- 1:36hand of God. In his hardest moment, Stephen
- 1:39wasn't focused on fear, anger, or self preservation.
- 1:43His eyes were fixed on Jesus. That detail matters.
- 1:47Scripture often describes Jesus seated at the right hand of God,
- 1:51but here he is standing. It's as if heaven is leaning in.
- 1:54Jesus is not distant, He is present, He is watching.
- 1:59He is honoring Stephen's courage.
- 2:01Stephen's strength didn't come from his personality or his
- 2:04words. It came from where he was
- 2:06looking. We face different pressures, but
- 2:08the same choice. Will we walk straight or will we
- 2:12bend when it gets uncomfortable? Will we protect our integrity or
- 2:16trade it for temporary approval? Keeping your eyes on Jesus
- 2:20doesn't remove the difficulty, but it gives you strength to
- 2:23stand when it comes. When you walk in integrity, you
- 2:26may not always be applauded, but you will be secure.
- 2:30When you fix your eyes on Jesus, you may still face resistance,
- 2:33but you will never stand alone. Courage grows when compromise
- 2:37stops. Peace follows when your path is
- 2:39straight. Let's pray.
- 2:42Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that integrity
- 2:45matters. Help me to walk straight, even
- 2:47when it would be easier to take shortcuts or blend in.
- 2:51Fill me with your Holy Spirit just as you filled Stephen, so I
- 2:55can keep my eyes fixed on Jesus when pressure comes.
- 2:59Give me courage to stand strong, confidence to live honestly, and
- 3:02peace that comes from knowing you are with me in Jesus name,
- 3:06Amen. What if the way you pray changed
- 3:09because you truly knew who God is?

- 4:29chapter 10 verses 9 to 10 World English Bible.
- 4:33He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his
- 4:37ways will be found out. One who winks with the eye
- 4:40causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
- 4:42Acts Chapter 7, World English Bible.
- 4:45The high priest said, Are these things So?
- 4:47He said, Brothers and fathers, listen.
- 4:50The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in
- 4:53Mesopotamia, before he lived in Heron, and said to him, Get out
- 4:57of your land and away from your relatives, and come into a land
- 5:01which I will show you. Then he came out of the land of
- 5:04the Chaldeans and lived in Heron from there.
- 5:07When his father was dead, God moved him into this land where
- 5:10you are now living. He gave him no inheritance in
- 5:13it, no, not so much as to set his foot on.
- 5:16He promised that he would give it to him for a possession and
- 5:19to his offspring after him. When he still had no child.
- 5:23God spoke in this way that his offspring would live as aliens
- 5:26in a strange land and that they would be enslaved and mistreated
- 5:30for 400 years. I will judge the nation to which
- 5:33they will be in bondage, said God.
- 5:35And after that they will come out and serve me in this place.
- 5:39He gave him the covenant of circumcision.
- 5:41So Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him the
- 5:458th day. Isaac became the father of
- 5:47Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the 12 patriarchs.
- 5:51The patriarchs moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold
- 5:54him into Egypt. God was with him, and delivered
- 5:57him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom
- 6:01before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. He made him governor over Egypt
- 6:05and all his house. Now a famine came over all the
- 6:08land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction.
- 6:11Our fathers found no food. But when Jacob heard that there
- 6:14was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers the first time.
- 6:18On the second time, Joseph was made known to his brothers, and
- 6:21Joseph's family was revealed to Pharaoh.
- 6:24Joseph sent and summoned Jacob, his father, and all his
- 6:26relatives, 75 souls. Jacob went down into Egypt and
- 6:30he died himself and our fathers, and they were brought back to
- 6:34Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price
- 6:37in silver from the children of Hammer of Shechem.
- 6:40But as the time of the promise came close, which God had sworn
- 6:43to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt until there
- 6:48arose a different king who didn't know Joseph.
- 6:50The same took advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers
- 6:54and forced them to abandon their babies so that they wouldn't
- 6:56stay alive. At that time Moses was born and
- 7:00was exceedingly handsome to God. He was nourished 3 months in his
- 7:04father's house. When he was abandoned, Pharaoh's
- 7:07daughter took him up and reared him as her own son.
- 7:09Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians.
- 7:13He was mighty in his words and works.
- 7:15But when he was 40 years old, it came into his heart to visit his
- 7:18brothers, the children of Israel.
- 7:21Seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him and avenged him
- 7:24who was oppressed, striking the Egyptian.
- 7:27He supposed that his brothers understood that God by his hand
- 7:30was giving them deliverance, but they didn't understand.
- 7:34The day following he appeared to them as they fought and urged
- 7:37them to be at peace again, saying, Sirs, you are brothers,
- 7:40why do you wrong one another? But he who did his neighbor
- 7:43wrong pushed him away, saying, Who made you a ruler and a judge
- 7:47over us? Do you want to kill me as you
- 7:49killed the Egyptian yesterday? Moses fled at this saying and
- 7:53became a stranger in the land of Midian, where he became the
- 7:55father of two sons. When 40 years were fulfilled, an
- 7:59Angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount
- 8:01Sinai in a flame of fire in a Bush.
- 8:04When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight.
- 8:07As he came close to see, the voice of the Lord came to him.
- 8:10I am the God of your father's, the God of Abraham, the God of
- 8:13Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Moses trembled and dared not
- 8:17look. The Lord said to him, Take off
- 8:19your sandals, for the place where you stand is holy ground.
- 8:23I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are
- 8:25in Egypt and have heard their groaning.
- 8:28I have come down to deliver them.
- 8:30Now Come, I will send you into Egypt.
- 8:32This Moses, whom they refused, saying, Who made you a ruler and
- 8:36a judge? God has sent him as both a ruler
- 8:39and a deliverer. By the hand of the Angel who
- 8:41appeared to him in the Bush. This man LED them out, having
- 8:44worked wonders and signs in Egypt, in the Red Sea, and in
- 8:48the wilderness for 40 years. This is that Moses, who said to
- 8:51the children of Israel, the Lord our God will raise up a profit
- 8:55for you from among your brothers like me.
- 8:57This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness, with
- 9:01the Angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our
- 9:04fathers who received living revelations to give to us, to
- 9:07whom our fathers wouldn't be obedient, but rejected him and
- 9:10turned back in their hearts to Egypt, saying to Aaron, Make us
- 9:14gods that will go before us. For As for this Moses who led us
- 9:17out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of
- 9:20him. They made a calf in those days
- 9:23and brought a sacrifice to the idol and rejoiced in the works
- 9:26of their hands. But God turned away and gave
- 9:29them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the
- 9:32book of the prophets. Did you offer to me slain
- 9:35animals and sacrifices 40 years in the wilderness?
- 9:38O House of Israel, you took up the Tabernacle of Molech, the
- 9:42star of your God, Riffan, the figures which you made to
- 9:45worship, so I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
- 9:48Our fathers had the Tabernacle of the testimony in the
- 9:51wilderness, even as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make
- 9:55it according to the pattern that he had seen.
- 9:57Which also our fathers in their turn brought in with Joshua,
- 10:01when they entered into the possession of the nations, whom
- 10:03God drove out before the face of our fathers to the days of
- 10:06David, who found favor in the sight of God, and asked to find
- 10:10a habitation for the God of Jacob.
- 10:13But Solomon built him a house. However, the Most High doesn't
- 10:16dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says.
- 10:19Heaven is my throne, and the earth a footstool for my feet.
- 10:23What kind of house will you build me, says the Lord, Or what
- 10:26is the place of my rest? Didn't my hand make all these
- 10:29things? You stiff necked and
- 10:31uncircumcised in heart and ears, You always resist the Holy
- 10:34Spirit as your Father's did, so you do.
- 10:37Which of the prophets didn't your Father's persecute?
- 10:40They killed those who foretold the coming of the righteous, one
- 10:43of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers.
- 10:46You received the law as it was ordained by angels and didn't
- 10:49keep it. Now when they heard these
- 10:51things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him
- 10:54with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy
- 10:57Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory
- 11:00of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, and said,
- 11:04Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man
- 11:07standing at the right hand of God.
- 11:09But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears,
- 11:12then rushed at him. With 1 accord they threw him out
- 11:15of the city and stoned him. The witnesses placed their
- 11:18garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
- 11:21They stoned Stephen as he called out saying, Lord Jesus, receive
- 11:24my Spirit. He kneeled down and cried with a
- 11:27loud voice. Lord, don't hold the sin against
- 11:29them. When he had said this, he fell
- 11:32asleep. Thanks for joining us on Bible
