- 0:03This is a Bramble Jam podcast this week on your gabble gabble. If you
- 0:15and your roommate disagree on the rent but you're not on the least, do
- 0:18you have to pay up? Judge Faith, it's a new lease on justice.
- 0:21And if you go to a recording studio and they don't give you the
- 0:24masters, do you get the money back or are you mastered out of I
- 0:27don't know, Judge Faith. Huh, real people o cases they just as
- 0:32this is yabble. U wait a week? Double the faith? We double
- 0:38faith. I think we double faith. You've got to have faith. I
- 0:42like it, dude, I do too. But this is typically why we
- 0:45talk out of time. But you know what, literally the one high that
- 0:48we didn't text each other and the reality is is that I mean in the
- 0:51steady rotation mathis Judy Jerry, Judge Joe Brown, People's Court personally hot bench
- 1:02judge of eight for both of us one eighth times one eighth. That's one
- 1:07sixty fourth. The chances are one in sixty four that that would happen.
- 1:10Do you do America's Court? Oh no, no, Ross nine wow,
- 1:15one man. The odds are just you know what, faith has enough to
- 1:22go around. That's right, that's yeah. The TV Patreon bonus episode where
- 1:26we share with you the love of Jesus Christ. What are you doing right
- 1:32now? I didn't mean it. I mean, but you do mean the
- 1:34love of Jesus. Though you took it in a different direction. I felt
- 1:38like I was saying something inappropriate about judge faith, were making it like a
- 1:44witness thing. Both are not what I was intending. No, but if
- 1:48you want to know about Jesus, I mean your case, your faith case
- 1:53sounds a little bit more in depth. In my faith case, mine's a
- 1:57run of the mill rental apartment, rental situation, you know, a roommate
- 2:04here there, here there that, Yeah, exactly, Well, I can
- 2:07go first. So I just said all that. Your case sounds more detailed,
- 2:14more interesting, and you you want to go first, I don't know,
- 2:16you go first. And also we're going to be doing another one of
- 2:21these tomorrow, tomorrow, more rable fests. Nothing like kicking robes out of
- 2:25the closet. Oh, we should bring the robes. Were you not going
- 2:30to bring the rope? I didn't think about it. We haven't worn them
- 2:31in so long. We've got but we've got it. Where are they?
- 2:34They got to be in the you know, the one area with all the
- 2:37one clothing. They're not. It's not done there. This is a new
- 2:39new bit. We could maybe check the old old bit. No one knows
- 2:44what we're talking about. The one area and we got two we got one
- 2:47area, we got two bits and four two go all right? Uh so
- 2:53let me introduce you to Catherine and Monique. Oh please do. Catherine and
- 2:59Monique are best friends or were best friends. You know what I will say.
- 3:02The one thing that bumps me out about doing this show is so many
- 3:07friendships lost. Well as someone who loves my friends, yes, of course,
- 3:10but also like I always wonder how close these people were to be sure,
- 3:14they always say like we were like sisters, we were like brothers.
- 3:16I just don't believe them. Have you ever lost a good friend? Uh?
- 3:21Like not like dad were with disagreements like something like that. My best
- 3:28friend in middle and high school we had a pretty big falling out and we
- 3:31still keep in touch and on occasion, but we were no longer best friends.
- 3:37Okay, sure, ye did you ever have Yeah you did. I
- 3:38had a buddy in high school who I kid you not? On two or
- 3:44three different occasions when I would like a girl, he would make a move
- 3:49and he would end up kissing him. Wow. It happened two or three
- 3:53different times, and it occurred to me after like the second time, I
- 3:55was like, he might not be a good friend. He might be a
- 4:00good friend, but you moved pretty slow. Yeah, of course you moved
- 4:01pretty slow and kind of creepy and that and that. At some point,
- 4:05maybe he's just trying to save this one. Well, the problem was the
- 4:10problem is a kiss dating, goodbye, And he's true, he kissed dating.
- 4:14My incident is a little too personal to talk about, but it's hysterical.
- 4:21I can't go into the story unfortunately, even on a bonus set,
- 4:24but ask me after we turn that off, and I will be glad.
- 4:26I will do that. Okay, go ahead, Nique and Catherine Catherine.
- 4:30Uh So, Catherine starts and says, and she's suing Monique for three thousand
- 4:34and fifty dollars in unpaid rent and a broken t D. That's a lot.
- 4:40Do we know the split there? Financially we don't split and uh yeah,
- 4:46I will just keep keep it moving. So she said that they split
- 4:48rent on a townhouse, and Faith said okay, so it was you and
- 4:53it was Monique, and Catherine goes, no, no, no, it
- 4:56was me and my four kids. And Faith's like, okay, so you
- 5:00and your four kids and Monique split a townhouse. That was it, she
- 5:03goes, And and my male friend and like a mailman, like a mailman,
- 5:09the mail man. Yes, she had the maleman. That pose tool
- 5:12would ring every morning. No, she Faith for breakfast. Who is that?
- 5:16That's Monique or Catherine. I don't know. It's good either way,
- 5:19it's spot on. Uh. So Faith says, okay, a male friend,
- 5:24and she said, yeah, the father of my children. She doesn't
- 5:27ever call she doesn't she doesn't ever call him her boyfriend or her husband or
- 5:34her significant other. Just my friend. That is the father of all four
- 5:38of my kids. That is what she said. That's what she says.
- 5:42Good for you, good for you, whatever, whatever. That that's arrangement.
- 5:46And we are friends and occasionally we get together, get together only reproduction
- 5:53only. That's it. That's right. And well, I'll call you my
- 5:55male friend, can call me your female friend, and we'll just live happily.
- 5:59Ever sept I guess. So Faith is like, okay, did he
- 6:01pay part of the rent, and Catherine says, well, he gave me
- 6:05money for our half of the rent, and Faith says, so this was
- 6:12a fifty to fifty split, and she says, yes, fifty percent was
- 6:17paid by me, fifty percent by Monique. And Faith is like, she
- 6:23literally stops and goes, I'm just trying my best to understand this. You,
- 6:27your four children, and the father of those children. Six people are
- 6:31paying for half the rent and Monique over here is paying the other half of
- 6:35the rent. And Catherine is like, yes, that is the agreement.
- 6:41And then she says and you're suing her. And Catherine's like, yes,
- 6:45I'm suing her because I always paid my half and she didn't. Okay did
- 6:48she pay? Like I don't know, like one seventh, we'll get there.
- 6:53Monique says, well, the agreement, the agreement, as I understood,
- 6:58it didn't include the baby. It was me, Catherine and her four
- 7:01kids, and those are like my god kids, and so I'm fine with
- 7:05the kids. It doesn't bother me. And it was split eight hundred for
- 7:09me, eight hundred for Catherine. And that was fine with me. That
- 7:11that arrangement was fine. But once the once the mailman, the mailman who
- 7:15rings twice. Yes, she Faith says, okay, Well you didn't know
- 7:19the baby daddy was going to be there, and she says, no,
- 7:21I didn't, and then one day he came over and and he never left.
- 7:26That's exactly right. Well, have I got a twist for you?
- 7:29Faith asked for the lease, and on the lease, Monaque's Monaque. Monaque's
- 7:32not a person. Monique's name is not on the lease. Catherine's name is
- 7:38on the least interesting and the baby daddy's name is on the lease. Wow,
- 7:42Monique's names not on the lease, So face like, what's going on?
- 7:46This guy wasn't even supposed to be living here, according to me.
- 7:48His name's on the originally the original lease for the townhouse. Catherine says,
- 7:54only we had to use his name. Uh, Monique's credit wasn't credit situation,
- 7:59and so we just had an agreement. But it's actually, yes,
- 8:03the father of my kids, she just says, uses a pronoun. She
- 8:07just says he like she never says my boyfriend. She never says his name.
- 8:09This guy is just you know, fathering these four kids and living with
- 8:13them, but not getting the credit for doing anything. Uh. She his
- 8:18name's on the least and my name's on the least and Monique's like, look,
- 8:22I didn't have a problem with the kids. I didn't know that his
- 8:22name was on the least. I didn't know any of that. But when
- 8:26he came in, I just thought, you know, I was, you
- 8:28know, I was upset. Of course, so he and then she said
- 8:33her quote, is he slick moved in? He slick moved in? I
- 8:37don't. I don't. I'm not familiar with which is exactly what we talked
- 8:41about. He would come over occasionally spend the night, and then all of
- 8:43a sudden, he came one time and he did not slick moved in.
- 8:46Slick moved in. It was a slick move in like that phrase. Yeah,
- 8:50I'm gonna use that as often as I can. You're gonna slick move
- 8:52in, just like uh oh, hold you to it, like oh I
- 8:56got a box of Lucky Tim's gonna slick move in, slick move in on
- 8:58those like get charms. Was that if this was on TV, that would
- 9:03have been There is no cereal in that move at all. That was pouring
- 9:09the milk. It was just a dash, That's right, man. I
- 9:13can't even replicate that. What has happened for the listeners out there. So
- 9:18uh uh he slick moves in and then uh he shows up one day,
- 9:24he doesn't leave. And then she goes, Okay, Catherine, did Monique
- 9:28ever come to you and go, look, he's gonna live here. We
- 9:31should just split the rent three ways instead of two ways. Katherine's like,
- 9:35no, never, ever, ever, And then Monique starts arguing, like,
- 9:39I can't talk to talk to Catherine. She's like a child. Catherine
- 9:41starts popping back and forth faith to gabble and says, I know y'all are
- 9:48from Atlanta, but that ain't how it's going down, And the course of
- 9:52course, the crowd goes, I know y'all are from Atlanta. So she's
- 9:56hating on Atlanta. She's hating on on the at L and says, that's
- 10:00the house going to go down. Judge faith defense, I'm very interested in
- 10:03what you have to say. Next. I think she's from Atlanta. Faith
- 10:09is no, I don't know, okay in judge based defense Atlanta go ahead,
- 10:16Yeah, there's a while. All I'm gonna say is I think she's
- 10:22from Atlanta. Oh no, no, here we go. Catherine says,
- 10:26I got I got I got an eviction notice. She says, I got
- 10:31an eviction notice on my door because I didn't know Monique wasn't paying the rent
- 10:37and faith to it. Wait a minute, why is Monique paying the landlord
- 10:41separately? And she said that was just part of our agreement. She would
- 10:43pay uh, you know, her half straight to them. But even though
- 10:48she wasn't on the lease, we never get to the Yeah, exactly,
- 10:50that's interesting. And Monique's like, look, talking to her is like a
- 10:54child. It's impossible. I just can't deal with this anymore. Catherine's like,
- 10:56I got the eviction notice on the door. We're getting evicted, and
- 10:58outside is a big giant moving truck and she's trying to slick move her stuff
- 11:03out before I get home. That's interesting. So you can slick move in
- 11:07and out all of a sudden, you know, the lucky Charms replaced with
- 11:11you know, Raisin bran. You're slick moving out, absolutely sick moving out.
- 11:16Although I went on a Raisin brand. There's a lot of sugar on
- 11:20there's raisins, a lot of sugar on them. That's exactly what imagine my
- 11:24surprise when I just try to eat a box of Raisins no sugar to be
- 11:28found, just just choice the point chewy badness. That's just chose, that's
- 11:33just old grapes. So then Monique pops up and says, I was paying
- 11:37utilities every month. The water bill is five hundred dollars a month. Faith
- 11:41was like, well, you did move in with six other people, and
- 11:45I want to get this straight. You agreed to pay the utilities, and
- 11:48they both nod their head. Yes, that's a lot of water. It's
- 11:52a lot of water, even for six people, that's a lot of water.
- 11:54They're they're just having a full on water party every day. I mean,
- 11:56I'm like, I got four people in my house. I mean not
- 12:01even one hundred dollars. Like, there's seven people, five hundred dollars.
- 12:03You are, like you are full risky business, slip and slide down the
- 12:07hall every day. What type of toilet do they use? Oh yeah no
- 12:11no no, it's just it's a ten gallante. Yeah, every time you
- 12:16flush it like you're killing fish. It's like you're just hours. So uh,
- 12:22she agreed to pay the utilities, but stop paying uh for the rent
- 12:26because she was upset about the dad moving in. Faith is now ready to
- 12:30rule. Wow, yeah, ready to rule. Did we ever get to
- 12:33the TV? This isn't all caps at the bottom after Faith's ruling. I
- 12:39want to be clear, we never want to talk about the TV after after
- 12:43the narrator brings it up, It's never brought up again. Don't talk about
- 12:48it, Catherine, don't talk about it. Faith isn't talking about that TV
- 12:50is just in the wind. So okay, I'm still believe it or not?
- 12:54What foggy on these details? Rent? Unpaid rent? Yeah ah,
- 13:03I'm gonna go with nothing. Why the deal was unfair to begin with?
- 13:09Yeah, you and Faith are locked in. She says, you have an
- 13:11illegal agreement here. It's not a legal agreement. And because of that,
- 13:16you can't go after her for money that she's nowhere on this lease. You
- 13:20deceive the company by sub letting your lease out without letting them know. But
- 13:26she was also paying the company, that's right. But that's the wild part.
- 13:31And she was paying all the utilities. So Faith's like, no judgment
- 13:33in favor of the defendant. That's crazy and all done. Faith wins the
- 13:37day every day. That's exactly right. Faith wins, hope, hope,
- 13:41love. Have you heard about those faith in today? At least today this
- 13:46show, Yes, Faith, because because we're double up on the Faith,
- 13:50I want to introduce you to Judge Faith. Is she from Atlanta? I
- 13:54actually think she's from New York. They say it in the intro. Sorry,
- 13:58I always skip the intro Aside from Ross, of course, just with
- 14:03Justice, it's not a foreign concept. I want to ask you to to
- 14:05Terrys Terrence Bennetts for you to say Terrence, Terrence Bennett. Okay, Bennette.
- 14:13One thousand dollars is what he's suing for for studio time plus twelve hundred
- 14:20dollars for master recordings. Oh wow, he's suing so for a total of
- 14:24exactly right. He's suing Howard Moore, who might be a little bit less
- 14:31by the end of the show. Terrence met Howard in April. That means
- 14:35nothing to me. I don't know when this was shot, but I did
- 14:39want you to know that information because I know it. I've got it.
- 14:43Terrence manages a rap artist. Now. Terrence is new to the game.
- 14:48This is his first new artist that he knew him a little bit. I
- 14:52think it's a little bits. He's new to the game. This is his
- 14:56very first artist. He's wanting to do everything right, you know what I'm
- 15:01and uh, they're doing some stuff. This is a little bit foggy,
- 15:05but uh, this artist was a rap and some song. I guess you
- 15:09could just say rapping was out there rapping. He is a rap as a
- 15:16song. They dropped a beat, dropped a beat, and Howard, here's
- 15:22this rapped song, and it's like, this is good stuff. So he
- 15:26goes up. He goes up to Terrence. Howard does and says, hey,
- 15:31you manage this, fellow. I would love nothing more than to record
- 15:39one song completely for free. I love this song. And so that's kind
- 15:43of how they get in. That's how they get in, right. But
- 15:48then things get a little foggy because from there, you know, he wants
- 15:52to use Howard to to to record the whole album. Okay, So Howard
- 15:58says, I've got us recording studio. It's going to be sixty dollars per
- 16:03hour. Okay. Terrence says that that included mixing and mastering their a document.
- 16:08No, there's not a document for anything ever in any scenario. So
- 16:15they agree, they go in, they record a handful of sessions. The
- 16:21sessions ended up costing one thousand dollars. So however, many hours. That
- 16:26is is how God did it. And they recorded ten songs. Ten songs,
- 16:29okay, So Terrence starts to get some like rough tracks, some demos
- 16:37of what they have. Do you know what I mean to kind of show
- 16:41what is what is going to be sounded like? Blah blah blah before going
- 16:42to mastering. So he gets eight of the ten songs, is what he
- 16:47says. Howard pushes back against that, and we don't want any pushback,
- 16:49but a little pushback here. He says, all the songs are in dropbox.
- 16:55He could have found him, he didn't. We don't really get how
- 16:56it's just a producers, the manager. Howard's just here to produce song,
- 17:00how and a freebie. So Terrence then, you know, time goes by
- 17:07and he's trying to get in contact with Howard about the mastering process. Now
- 17:14Terrence again said that the mastering was going to be included. Howard, you
- 17:18know, doesn't really say much about that. But he's trying to get in
- 17:21contact with Howard. Hey, how's the mastering going. Blah blah blah,
- 17:23got not hearing anything, just ghosting him. As the kids say, it
- 17:30was a slick move rap song. It was a slick move out if you
- 17:33will, and so Howard's not responding. Terrence then goes to the recording studio
- 17:40that they recorded in and says, hey, like, can I just get
- 17:44the like the the songs so that I can go get them mastered at this
- 17:48point, because I don't even think Howard's going to do this thing, and
- 17:51they're like, oh, you're Howard's client. Howard owes us money, so
- 17:56we're not going to be able to release these files to you until Howard pays
- 18:02us, or you know, we figure out of some other It wasn't howard
- 18:07studio. Howard was renting. That's exactly out. Howard was renting it for
- 18:10sixty dollars an hour. So they then he then Terrence didn't brings a text
- 18:15message up, gives the phone to Judge Faith and in the text we see
- 18:22lots of texts from Terrence to Howard, Hey, what's going on? What's
- 18:26the update? Hey, how are the songs coming along? Blah blah blah.
- 18:29And finally he's like, hey, can you send me the the stems,
- 18:33the like the raw files so I can take those raw files all the
- 18:37different tracks, send them to somebody else to get mastered and we get a
- 18:42text from Howard that says, listen, man, I got a lot going
- 18:48on in my life right now. I'll send you a refund. You could
- 18:51take it and do something else, go get go recorded again, whatever.
- 18:53I can't do this right now. So he says he'll send him a refund.
- 18:57That's what he says, Judge Faith fail. Well, yeah, if
- 19:02he's gonna send him a refund, then it's Terrence getting his money. Here's
- 19:04the question though. So he's suing for one thousand dollars for the recording session,
- 19:10but they did that, yeah, and then he's suing for twelve hundred
- 19:15extra dollars that it's gonna take to now master. He gets to twelve not
- 19:19the thousand. He gets to twelve hundred, he doesn't get the thousand Faith's
- 19:25swaps that what Faith they recorded, but he didn't get. He didn't finish
- 19:30the songs. Okay, So because they're gonna have to go and record again
- 19:37because they can't if he doesn't get any of the twelve hundred, even for
- 19:38the Masters, even though Howard said he would reimburse him. No, Howard
- 19:42said he would reimburse them for the recording session so they can go and record
- 19:45somewhere else. I was under the impression and maybe I wasn't listening well,
- 19:48and I'm really sorry. No, it's I was in the impression. Howard
- 19:52was saying, I'll give you a refund because I'm not gonna be able to
- 19:55master him. No, no, no, that's fair. The problem is
- 19:57is the five. The thing that Faith couldn't figure out is why can't we
- 20:03get the files? So, judging by the text where he says I'll send
- 20:07you a refund for recording, Faith infers that either he doesn't know where the
- 20:11files are, he can't get the files whatever. That's why he's going to
- 20:15give a refund, turnover and switch. So go record it somewhere else and
- 20:19then do it. You can get a master in whatever. What if he
- 20:22shows up later has the originals masters and makes a ton of money. Wow,
- 20:26he got off just a thousand bucks. Howard's just streets ahead. We
- 20:32did everybody. We will be back tomorrow at Bramblefest for a live gavel.
- 20:37Judge Faith will not be one of the judges. We guarantee it. We
- 20:41guarantee it. We're all judge Faith there, Judge, We're Faith there.
- 20:45Until then, maybe the first to wish you all rise yo. Gabble Gabbles
