- 0:00Chapter 3 of Micah dear God once again we ask you that you be
- 0:07with us as we read through this chapter and give us wisdom,
- 0:11insight, revelation. Speak to us through your word.
- 0:16We ask for this in Jesus name. Leaders and prophets rebuked.
- 0:23Then I said, so this is Micah the prophet speaking to the, I
- 0:29guess, the northern Kingdom of Israel.
- 0:32But the first statement that he says sounds like maybe he's
- 0:36speaking to Israel in total, not just the northern Kingdom.
- 0:41So here it goes. Then I said, listen, you leaders
- 0:45of Jacob, So when leaders of Jacob, that would be all that
- 0:51would be the northern Kingdom and the southern Kingdom in my
- 0:54opinion. And then it says you rulers of
- 0:57Israel. So that could be both kingdoms
- 1:01or it could be the northern Kingdom who had the capital in
- 1:04Samaria, because they were split after King Solomon.
- 1:07They split into the northern Kingdom and the southern
- 1:09Kingdom. The northern Kingdom was called
- 1:12Israel and the southern Kingdom was called Judah.
- 1:15So let's go back then. I said, listen, you leaders of
- 1:17Jacob, you rulers of Israel, should you not embrace justice?
- 1:23You who hate good and love evil, who tear the skin from my people
- 1:28and the flesh from their bones, who eat my people's flesh, strip
- 1:31off their skin and break their bones in pieces, who chop them
- 1:35up like meat for a pan, like flesh for the pot?
- 1:39I that this part is really hard for me to understand because I
- 1:44know it's all symbolic but I I mean it's just I'll see what the
- 1:48study Bible says OK? Were the leaders cannibals?
- 1:51No, this language is figurative and sarcastic.
- 1:55Micah compared social injustice to cannibalism.
- 1:59In order to emphasize the insatiable greed of the rich and
- 2:04their cruel, insensitive treatment of the poor.
- 2:08They were devouring the meager sources of their disadvantaged
- 2:11neighbors and in doing so consuming their neighbors
- 2:15livelihood and hope OK, that helps to give some light to it
- 2:22because it's very graphic details that he said.
- 2:25But one of the things was who hate good and love evil.
- 2:29And that stands out to me because I do see that in our
- 2:33culture today that we things that are good are called evil
- 2:40and evil things are called good. Like there is a change up.
- 2:44If you look at the Bible, if you use the Bible, because that's
- 2:47the that's the truth. If you use the Bible as the the
- 2:51benchmark, then things that are in the Bible that are good are
- 2:56called evil in many places today and vice versa.
- 3:02So we have to pay attention because this is actually
- 3:06happening in our time. There's, you know, good that's
- 3:08being called evil and evil that's being called good.
- 3:11And the only way we know the difference, not the only way,
- 3:15but the way we know the difference is through the word
- 3:20of God. The word of God is very clear.
- 3:22It's the foundation of so much. And the Word of God is actually
- 3:28the foundation of a lot of government, which I recently
- 3:32found out in the United States. We, you know, we just celebrated
- 3:36the 4th of July, the Declaration of Independence, and this is
- 3:41July 6th, 2025. And so there the foundation of
- 3:47our government was on God. And there is God that shines
- 3:53through, but that's been covered up throughout history.
- 3:57Students are taught information about our history that is not
- 4:04accurate. It's tells a narrative of what
- 4:11those against God would prefer. It doesn't tell the truth and
- 4:17there are documents apparently that you know, I have not seen
- 4:22the documents, but I recently listened to a speaker who spoke
- 4:26that he has these documents that he can show in writing the
- 4:30history that it was a it was founded, our country was founded
- 4:36on God and along biblical principles and many of the early
- 4:43leadership read the Bible and followed along with it.
- 4:48And that there were two different groups of people who
- 4:53settled in the United States originally and there were two
- 4:58different they called themselves Christians, but one was not did
- 5:03not act like Christians and the other did.
- 5:06And there were very vast differences.
- 5:09If you want to explore this further, then look into Jameson
- 5:15and also Plymouth and see the differences and the the person
- 5:21that you would want to actually go and get this information from
- 5:27search David Barton Barton. He's an author and he has lots
- 5:33of books on Amazon, but it is a great resource to see to
- 5:39realize, to understand that, you know, much of our public
- 5:44education is not the truth. It's skewed.
- 5:50It's it, you know what, why is that?
- 5:53Is that the enemy just trying to take over the world?
- 5:57I mean, that's kind of what I think.
- 5:59And but, you know, it could be a variety of reasons, but that
- 6:03just seems to be a very evident reason.
- 6:06You know how much if you listen to my podcast, you know that I
- 6:08believe in spiritual influences and I believe that people don't
- 6:13even know that they're being influenced by evil and it comes
- 6:18packaged like something good, but it's really evil.
- 6:22And I think that's what we are actually experiencing today.
- 6:25And it was very refreshing. Like I said, I recently heard
- 6:29him spoke speak and, and he has a lot of books that you can get
- 6:36on Amazon. And so I would highly recommend
- 6:38checking it out if I mean, it will really change your mind
- 6:42about the United States when you read it and in a in a good way
- 6:47that it isn't it. There were some really good
- 6:51solid things that were under God and they actually at several
- 6:57different important meetings, they did pray to God.
- 7:01They started their morning with prayer.
- 7:03And that's something that we all should do, is start our morning
- 7:07with conversation with God for guidance that we follow in his
- 7:12ways, that we understand, that we get to know what his ways
- 7:15are, and that he guides us in whatever comes about in our own
- 7:19day. Because every day is different
- 7:21for different people. And we need God's guidance, we
- 7:25need God, we need the Holy Spirit to help us with our words
- 7:30when we speak with one another and to, to exhibit the
- 7:37characteristics of Jesus as we become refined or, you know,
- 7:43made holy. Like God says, we should be holy
- 7:46because he is holy. And if we are children of God,
- 7:49we should become holy. That's a process.
- 7:53And it takes submission to the Holy Spirit to allow the Holy
- 7:59Spirit to basically say, OK, your will, God, not mine.
- 8:03You know, I, I, when we read the Bible, we know what things we
- 8:07have to work on and then we can when those things come up, we
- 8:12can sense when we are at odds, when we are against what's in
- 8:16the Bible and we can ask God, help me with this, help me,
- 8:21change me, mold me. And that's what God's looking
- 8:25for is humble people who are willing to do that, to submit to
- 8:28God and be changed, be transformed.
- 8:32And it's a good thing for other people because God is love.
- 8:35So when we become changed, there is more love in the world.
- 8:40So let's go back to Scripture. So it continues on.
- 8:44It says then they will cry out to the Lord, but he will not
- 8:47answer them. So these are the evil, the
- 8:50people who are doing evil but calling it good.
- 8:53Then they will cry out to the Lord, but He will not answer
- 8:56them at that time. He will hide His face from them
- 8:59because of the evil they have done.
- 9:02So that's a word of warning for us.
- 9:04When we start doing evil and we don't submit to God, we continue
- 9:09to do stuff that God, we know God doesn't want us to be doing.
- 9:13Then we are separating ourself from God and that there's that
- 9:19protection of God. God is that resource and if we
- 9:24are against him and he doesn't listen to us anymore because we
- 9:29are in the midst of sin and we don't care anymore, we're just
- 9:32going to do what we want to do, we lose that protection of God
- 9:37and things can go terribly bad for us.
- 9:41And it's just that our communication with God is so
- 9:48much greater when we submit to Him.
- 9:52When we want to do God's will and ask for the Holy Spirit to
- 9:58help us to accomplish God's will, this is what the Lord
- 10:03says. As for prophets who lead my
- 10:06people astray, they proclaim peace if they have something to
- 10:11eat, but prepare to wage war against anyone who refuses to
- 10:18feed them. OK, so again, this is another
- 10:23thing that it seems like often if you have a prophet that's
- 10:26telling somebody who claims to be a prophet that's talking
- 10:29about peace, it probably isn't true throughout the Bible.
- 10:36I don't know if there's any time where a prophet said you're
- 10:38going to have peace. The one time that I do know that
- 10:42there was peace was when Solomon was king and there was that
- 10:46period of time, but then, you know, there wasn't any more.
- 10:49And I know Solomon kind of did a lot of things that were against
- 10:52God. And so I don't know if that's
- 10:55that kind of opened the door for evil to come in and start
- 10:59wreaking havoc again and taking away the peace.
- 11:01I don't I'm not sure because that only God knows that, but I
- 11:08have not seen much in the Bible when a prophet talks about peace
- 11:13that actually happens. It seems like those are not
- 11:17true. And and Jesus said there will be
- 11:19wars and rumors of wars, you know, all the way until he
- 11:22returns again and he hasn't returned yet.
- 11:24So there's going to be there's not going to be peace not until
- 11:28he returns. So anybody who says there's
- 11:30going to be peace that there is going to be this temporary peace
- 11:34that's going to again deceive people that they are in peace.
- 11:38So every time I hear the stuff about the Abraham covenant, the
- 11:43Abraham Accords, that's that false sense of peace, that's
- 11:48that agreement that is, you know, going to be peaceful for a
- 11:53little bit, but it's not going to be lasting because the Bible
- 11:57says it, not because of anything else, just because the Bible
- 11:59says that's not going to. It's a great intention and I'm
- 12:03sure the people who are joining it have that intention.
- 12:08But the Bible tells us the reality of it.
- 12:11There isn't going to be peace. It's going to be a false sense
- 12:14of peace. And when when they say peace and
- 12:16security, then sudden destruction comes upon them.
- 12:20So the enemy can want everybody to feel at peace because the
- 12:25enemy has other plans to actually destroy as soon as
- 12:28people feel peaceful. So this is unfortunately
- 12:34reality. This is the the world we live
- 12:36in. But it's not going to be like
- 12:38that forever. So I am really excited about the
- 12:41next several chapters after this one and Micah, because it gets
- 12:45on to the better stuff. So therefore night will come
- 12:49over you with without visions and darkness without divination.
- 12:55The sun will set for the prophets and the day will go
- 12:58dark for them. The seers will be ashamed and
- 13:00the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces
- 13:06because there is no answer from God.
- 13:10But As for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the
- 13:15Lord, and with justice and might to declare to Jacob his
- 13:21transgressions to Israel, his sin.
- 13:24So this is Micah. He's, he's saying he's basically
- 13:27filled with the Holy Spirit. He said, I am filled with power,
- 13:31with the spirit of the Lord. So Micah is righteous in in his,
- 13:37you know, his relationship with God and he is empowered by the
- 13:43Holy Spirit and can do these. He's he's not saying, you know,
- 13:47I'm not, I'm not going to be a part of all this stuff like you
- 13:49guys are the what he's seeing is this darkness and they're not
- 13:54going to be getting their answers.
- 13:55They're not going to be able to see the future because of what
- 13:59they've done and gods turned away from them.
- 14:02Hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel who despise
- 14:06justice and distort all that is right, who build Zion with
- 14:13bloodshed and Jerusalem with wickedness.
- 14:16Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price,
- 14:22and her profits tell fortunes for money.
- 14:25Did you see like a common element in all this?
- 14:28Her leaders judge for a bribe. What usually happens at a bribe?
- 14:32You get something for doing something and usually it's
- 14:35financial. Her priests teach for a price,
- 14:39they're getting paid to teach, and her profits tell fortunes
- 14:44for money. So it's all money focused.
- 14:48Those three things he's talking about is it's all based on
- 14:51money, and money is a tool, is a resource to use for God's will.
- 14:58That's essentially what it is. But people can get it and then
- 15:03they start becoming selfish with it and looking to see what they
- 15:07can do with, with their resource for themselves and not other
- 15:11people. And we probably all have a
- 15:15problem with that to some degree.
- 15:17But here it looks like it's pretty bad when he's talking
- 15:20about these leaders that they're all getting paid off, they're
- 15:24all getting, they're just getting money.
- 15:25They're in it for the money. They're not in it for the right
- 15:28reasons. Their hearts are not turned
- 15:30towards God. They are just trying to get
- 15:32money. Yet they look for the Lord's
- 15:36support and say, is not the Lord among us?
- 15:40No disaster will come upon us. Again, here's that false
- 15:44prophet. No disaster will come upon us.
- 15:46And just like another prophecy says, when they say peace and
- 15:50security comes, sudden destruction.
- 15:53And these people are not hearing from God.
- 15:57And so they're like, no disaster is going to come on us.
- 15:59You know, we're, we're good. We're we're all good.
- 16:02I mean, they've got their money, you know, everything seems good,
- 16:05but he's warning them. Therefore, because of you, Zion
- 16:10will be plowed like a field. Jerusalem will become a heap of
- 16:16rubble, the Temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.
- 16:22And that's the end of chapter 3. So I will read the questions and
- 16:26answers for this one. Why was the lack of visions and
- 16:29divination considered a punishment?
- 16:32A vision is similar to a dream, but it is often experienced
- 16:35while awake. It involves seeing something,
- 16:39such as objects or a sequence of events that is normally hidden
- 16:43from human eyes. Divination offers information
- 16:48about what is secret or yet future.
- 16:51It is obtained by reading and interpreting certain omens.
- 16:57Because of her idolatry, Israel would no longer have special
- 17:01insights into God's direction. Instead, she would experience
- 17:05dark, dismal times with no word from God to comfort or enlighten
- 17:11her. What were seers?
- 17:14These were prophets who foretold future events.
- 17:18In earlier times, prophets were often called seers.
- 17:22It may be that as Israel developed from a tribal
- 17:25confederation to a Kingdom, and as people turned from God, the
- 17:30prophetic ministry and its name changed.
- 17:33Or perhaps the language just changed.
- 17:38How did power in the Spirit of the Lord fill Micah?
- 17:42Micah's empowering by the filling of the Holy Spirit was
- 17:46in direct contrast to the false prophets and seers in Israel's
- 17:51midst. This particular prophetic role
- 17:53of Micah's had to do with his mission of declaring Israel's
- 17:57sin rather than false words of peace.
- 18:02The fact that Micah's prophetic role was tempered by by justice
- 18:07and girded with power witnesses to his being filled with the
- 18:11Spirit. Does God refuse to listen to
- 18:15sinners? God will respond with mercy.
- 18:20And when people genuinely repent, if people truly repent
- 18:26and their behaviour reflects a change of heart, God will relent
- 18:30his judgment. That's so important.
- 18:33Repentance is not saying I'm sorry for this and then just
- 18:38living life again the same way repentance is actually changing
- 18:43the, the thing that you're doing that is considered a sin in
- 18:49front of God. And it's, it's there's a new
- 18:52creation, a new person that comes from repentance.
- 18:56When you ask for forgiveness for something, it should be with the
- 19:00intent. I mean, if, if it's meaningful,
- 19:03I mean, if you ask, you can ask for forgiveness for every, for
- 19:05whatever, but it's not meaningful unless you change the
- 19:10behavior you're asking forgiveness for.
- 19:15Sometimes, however, the insincerity of repeat offenders
- 19:19who plead for forgiveness and repeatedly promise to change but
- 19:23never do is so apparent that God does not extend his mercy.
- 19:29OK, that's really an important thing for Christians to know
- 19:33because there's a lot of Christians who just, you know,
- 19:35think they can ask for forgiveness and they're forgiven
- 19:38because they say Jesus stepped on the cross, died for our past,
- 19:41present and future sins. That's what I hear from people.
- 19:45There was only one sacrifice that's was required for the
- 19:50salvation of all people, but that's you.
- 19:54You can't think that it's cheap that what Jesus did that why
- 19:58would we be like on this pedestal to say, OK, now that
- 20:03Jesus did all this, then you're just elevated on this pedestal
- 20:08and you can live evil and you can do evil things and and God
- 20:12died for that. And God's OK with that.
- 20:15I mean, that's like a warped sense of thinking like God's not
- 20:18OK with that. If it, you know, why does God
- 20:21say, why does Jesus say, you know, you must take up your own
- 20:24cross? Like we all have, you know, a
- 20:28certain amount of hardships that we have to endure that, you
- 20:34know, it's not going to be our natural inclination to do the
- 20:38things that God wants us to do. That's not going to come
- 20:42naturally to us because of our sinful state.
- 20:46So that is the cross we have to pick up.
- 20:49We somehow, whatever it is, we all have different sins that
- 20:53affect our life. We have different things that
- 20:56trip us up and you know make us fall back into sin.
- 21:03If if remember if if we don't call on the Holy Spirit for
- 21:09assistance because that's what Jesus said I will give I will
- 21:13send you an advocate. I will the Holy Spirit will be
- 21:16sent to you. The Holy Spirit can help us
- 21:19overcome sin and actually have repentance happen, but it takes
- 21:26us deciding, you know, it's going to be, it's still a
- 21:28decision is a hard thing to do to have your mindset that, yeah,
- 21:32I'm not going to do that anymore because I know God doesn't
- 21:35approve of that, so I'm going to stop that.
- 21:38That's sometimes, often times a very hard decision to make.
- 21:43And then when it comes, when you're tempted with that thing
- 21:46that you turned away from, that's when you call on God and
- 21:50say, God, you know, I'm being tempted right now.
- 21:52I need the Holy Spirit. I need your spirit to strengthen
- 21:56me and that's what the Bible tells us.
- 22:00That's the resource that we have when we have repented, when
- 22:03we've asked God, it doesn't mean that we are going to be smooth
- 22:06sailing and we're never going to have that temptation come
- 22:09against us again. No, that's not the way the enemy
- 22:13works. The enemy and, and just our own
- 22:15desires, like we may like something, you know, we may not
- 22:18want to change it, but it's, it's one of those things where
- 22:22you get to a point where you humble yourself and you realize
- 22:26that I'm not God and God says this is not good.
- 22:30So that means I got to get it out of my life and God, you
- 22:34know, I did this for so many years or whatever, but I'm done
- 22:39with it. I don't want it anymore.
- 22:40Take it away from me now. It's not.
- 22:43I wish that we could just no longer ever have to deal with
- 22:48that or be tempted by that, but that's not the way it works.
- 22:51So we will get tempted again and that's when we have to rely on
- 22:55God, not our own strength because we are weak, but where
- 23:00we are weak in our weaknesses, where God is strong.
- 23:03So when we call on the Holy Spirit, that's when we can be
- 23:06strong and God only tempts us enough where we're, we have a
- 23:10way out where we, we can, we can overcome it.
- 23:16And that's what I don't think a lot of churches are telling
- 23:18people. They're making people
- 23:19comfortable in their sin and not letting them know that, hey, the
- 23:24Holy Spirit can help you overcome that.
- 23:27You can't do it by yourself, so don't try.
- 23:30You have to submit to God and ask God to work in your life and
- 23:35then you can overcome it. And just because you overcome at
- 23:38one time doesn't mean that you're that's one and done.
- 23:42You're going to have more times where it's going to come back to
- 23:44you because there we all have weaknesses and that's where, you
- 23:49know, in our weakness, that's where God is strong, God's
- 23:52strength, we rely on God. That's that submission.
- 23:55That's that humbling of ourselves.
- 23:58And God doesn't like the proud, he likes the humble.
- 24:02He likes those who will humble ourselves and say, OK, I, it's,
- 24:08this is beyond me. I can't do it.
- 24:10I need you. And then God takes over.
- 24:14So sometimes, however, the insincerity of repeat offenders
- 24:18who plead for forgiveness and repeatedly promise to change but
- 24:21never do so, never do, is so apparent that God does not
- 24:26extend mercy. He sees that they have crossed
- 24:29the line and degraded His compassion and forgiveness.
- 24:34So for them He withdraws his offer that he relent if they
- 24:38repent. Instead, he irrevocably decrees
- 24:44judgement and destruction. How about that, repeat
- 24:48offenders? If we keep on sinning, God is
- 24:51going to be silent with us and we are going to be subject to
- 24:56judgement and destruction. OK, such a such a time had come
- 25:02for the rich oppressors in the land of Judah.
- 25:04When the Assyrians invaded the land, the wealthy Israelites
- 25:09cried out to God for help, but the Lord turned a deaf ear to
- 25:13them, just as they had mercilessly ignored the cries of
- 25:17the poor people they had mistreated.
- 25:21Though all who repent and trust in Jesus will be saved, God's
- 25:27patience will not last forever. He has ordained a day of
- 25:32judgment for everyone. At that time, it will be too
- 25:36late to repent. Each person's eternal fate will
- 25:40be sealed. Hebrews 927 and Revelation 20
- 25:44verses 11 through 15. And yeah, so that's that's very
- 25:49timely that, you know, when Jesus returns, it'll be too
- 25:54late. Actually, I do.
- 25:58There are survivors that come out of the wrath of God, and God
- 26:02can have mercy on whomever he chooses to have mercy, but that
- 26:07doesn't mean that you're, if you decide, well, I'm just going to
- 26:12wait and do it, then you may die.
- 26:15And if you die without repenting, then you are destined
- 26:20to eternal separation from God. You are destined to lose your
- 26:24inheritance in God's Kingdom. And if you survive and you go
- 26:30through the wrath of God, and God doesn't allow you to die
- 26:36during that time, it means that you're probably going to have
- 26:40very terrible sufferings, you know, like you may have to.
- 26:45You those who love their life will lose it.
- 26:47So you're going to lose it one way or another.
- 26:51You're going to lose it spiritually or figuratively or
- 26:54literally. So the outcome is, I guess it's
- 27:00much better to do it earlier, sooner rather than later,
- 27:03because if we figuratively lose our life, we can keep on living,
- 27:09but we just like have to put to death the sin in our life and
- 27:14keep on living and stay connected to God.
- 27:18Or if we refuse to do that, it may come and and we still like
- 27:24honor God. It may come with in the future
- 27:27because the Bible says this will happen.
- 27:30Maybe we'll have to proclaim that we believe in Jesus and we
- 27:33will have to be beheaded for that reason.
- 27:36So that's like the other possibility that you don't
- 27:39change now. You keep on doing your sin, but
- 27:42then all of a sudden you realize, oh, I made a big
- 27:44mistake. I'm still alive, but I want to
- 27:46repent. You know, maybe the only way
- 27:49that you're going to make it into God's Kingdom because you
- 27:52delayed is by having your head chopped off because the Bible
- 27:55does say that's going to happen to Christians.
- 27:57So you either take it, take care of that now or wait and have the
- 28:06potential of having your head chopped off.
- 28:08And you know, there are some Christians today who who have
- 28:13had that happen in the world today and which is very
- 28:19horrible, but God is so redeeming that those people are
- 28:24going to be rulers in his Kingdom.
- 28:26So even though that has happened to them, they are going to be
- 28:31exalted and be made leaders and rulers in his Kingdom for 1000
- 28:36years. So God has restoration in mind
- 28:40for everyone, even when we go through these these tough times
- 28:44of taking up our own cross and dying to sin.
- 28:50When that happens, it's hard. It's, you know, there's
- 28:53different levels of hard that people have to deal with, but
- 28:57it's all going to be worth it for what God has planned.
- 29:01And it's just something to take serious, not to blow off.
- 29:05And that's why I hope that you continue.
- 29:08And I'm going to cut this one. So cut this off.
