- 0:07New York Yankees faced the Detroit Tigers for a Saturday afternoon game at Briggs Stadium on July 25, 1959.
- 0:14The Yankees were managed by Casey Stengel and they were the defending world champions, having been to the World Series for four straight seasons.
- 0:21But things were looking shaky in 1959. This late in July they were still stuck in the middle of the AL standings with a 47 and 48 record.
- 0:29The Tigers have been an average team throughout the 1950s, never finishing about fourth place, including only one winning season.
- 0:36They were managed by Jimmy Dykes, who took over from Bill Norman after the disastrous 2-15 start of the 1959 season.
- 0:42This audio recording is from the New York Radio broadcast featuring announcers Mel Allen, Red Barber and Phil Rizzuto.
- 0:49Frank Uman justing off home plate and Frank Custetti runs across.
- 0:57In front of the plate out there is Coachers Rock at third base and Ralph Hoppy at the first best coach.
- 1:06Custetti always waits until he's playing as a national anthem before he runs out.
- 1:10All fours back on the mound.
- 1:21Richardson tries to punch the first pitch, he's fouled like one.
- 1:27Richardson, about in 274, has ten double, three double tanks, well run, started in.
- 1:43The wind up by the right hand is a picture a little high at 4-1, 1-1.
- 1:48Boyd back at 1-9 and lost seven on the year.
- 1:58Here's the 1-1 pitch, just outside 4-2, 2-1.
- 2:18There's a drive-thru, so let's see a way back there.
- 2:28There it is, little Bobby Richardson gets his first storm on of an 1959 season.
- 2:33I'm looking at a big fan on Bobby St. and Frank Custetti slaps him on the back of the last third.
- 2:39And wait to see the end of Frank when Richardson comes in, there's Tyler laying down as though he's fated.
- 2:49But finally they break down and all start applauding.
- 2:52Bobby Richardson will be getting slapped on the back now, the whole team's coming over to congratulate Bobby.
- 2:58As he ends, he takes a 1-0 lead here on the top of the first inning.
- 3:02Norm Sibon the batter takes the pitch over, strike one call.
- 3:10That's quite a thrill.
- 3:13Well Richardson, there's a curve outside 4-1, 1-1.
- 3:16Sibon's batting 2-71, he has 13 double stand homers and 40 runs, about an end.
- 3:22This is Boyd back.
- 3:2423rd game, ball is a starter.
- 3:31There's a third ball filed back out of play.
- 3:34One ball, two strikes on Sibon.
- 3:41Boyd back has started once against the Yankees before today, winning that ball again.
- 3:46They could do back on June the 14th in New York.
- 3:49It's lifetime record.
- 3:52In the Yankees, the third Yankees, four times we're losing to them, six times.
- 3:58Third ball inside and Sibon has to skip rope to get out of the way.
- 4:02Two and two to count.
- 4:06And with Bobby Richardson's first home run of the year.
- 4:21There's a two-two pitch, it's inside ball three, four count on Sibon.
- 4:39Ready for the payoff pitch.
- 4:43Sibon popped it high in the air, two-steel in back of second base on the outfield grass, is under it.
- 4:50And the catch is four out, number one, Sibon pops to the shortstop, one away.
- 4:55That'll bring up Mickey Mantle.
- 4:59Mantle's batting 295.
- 5:01Mickey had 17 double-street triple, 20 homers and 53 runs, batted in.
- 5:12That was not only Richardson's first home run of the year, but his first major league home run.
- 5:16Regular season play or World Series play.
- 5:19Hit the net, he is fouled back strike one.
- 5:33One nothing in empty space there on the top of the first.
- 5:37Boy, back ready. There's a little bit high ball one on one.
- 5:53There's a curve low outside ball two, two and one on next.
- 6:02Boy, back is 511, 180 pounds, born in Scranton Central Vegas.
- 6:16Hit the net, he has a curve high ball three, three and one.
- 6:30One out, nobody on.
- 6:32Boy, back into the wind up, he's low curve, he's going out of net strike to hold down on net.
- 6:37More net was looking for that fastball, ready to hit it right on out of here.
- 6:41Had made up his mind that swinging was full completely on the changeup curve.
- 6:48Gotta have a lot of confidence in that pitch to throw it on three once.
- 6:51Even more so to throw it on three two. Let's see what it is.
- 6:54Here's the payoff pitch.
- 6:55Fastball, pop foul, and he's taking it over towards the center, but it's going back in and out of play.
- 7:09He's going for a good strike. Boy, back with a new baseball.
- 7:27That's the sign from Redwood. Here's the wind up.
- 7:32Back is line foul, just outside the first base ball line.
- 7:39Almost got Sally Berry to first base on fire.
- 7:44Big Just journey was playing first base, the lunge for the ball, and it went by just in fair territory,
- 7:51but just landed in foul territory.
- 7:57Again the three two pitch. Right three foul net, it's like a fastball right in the middle.
- 8:04Many nettles fall down on strikes.
- 8:09And with two outs, nobody on. Here's Yogi's batting.
- 8:13Yogi's batting, he's certainly fine.
- 8:16Fourteen doubles, one triple, eleven homers, and thirty seven runs batting in.
- 8:32Two outs, nobody on. Here's Yogi's one side, there's nothing.
- 8:34There's a fastball on the outside, corner strike one-four.
- 8:50Down ball to second base.
- 8:52Backhand has left you up with a throw to Boy, backhand, he's dropped the ball.
- 9:04Boy's got nine gelato in that throw from Ted left you and dropped the ball.
- 9:11And easy sense, that'll be an Eric Johnson Boy's bat.
- 9:16Thank you of course the ball without moving in his tracks. Boy's back was there in plenty of time,
- 9:22but tried a backhand the ball, where he's just one hand and dropped it, so Yogi's on.
- 9:28He's got Pechalope, he's going to be third base in batting 282.
- 9:32That guy has nineteen doubles, fourteen homers and fifty nine runs batting in.
- 9:37Here's the fastball, low inside ball one.
- 9:43Then you've got him there down every second in this ball game, you never know when one place is going to be a frozen team,
- 9:48and he can open up the gate.
- 9:51Here's the stretch to Pech, he's a curve hit, behind the head, a left field, Max throws back,
- 9:55but he's got an over this one, he's under it, and makes the catch for out number three.
- 10:00So the arrow is Max's cross, three but forty-anches in the top of the first.
- 10:04One run on one base hit, Bobby Richardson, third major lead homer.
- 10:08One side to arrow, one man left to score at the end of one half of the play.
- 10:12That's his one and the tag is coming to bat.
- 10:15But now he's a gap, I can really put a message across.
- 10:18He'll score, he'll call him to your record.
- 10:21Music playing
- 10:47Music playing
- 11:06Now here it is, Valentine's beer is a crisp kind of light with two large flavors.
- 11:11That's why folks call it the crisp refreshments.
- 11:14It's quiet and you can see your face to Valentine's.
- 11:18Why this board is out on the mountain for the New York Yankees.
- 11:23Why this one ten and lost six?
- 11:25That's the target, he's having a rough time, he's one one lost two right here.
- 11:29And his last time record against Detroit seven wins is six to feet.
- 11:33Yet his last time record on the big leagues is one hundred and fifteen wins and forty-fifty-six.
- 11:38Music playing
- 11:42There he goes, 80 off 40 he's tied it.
- 11:46Homer did his first time at bat last night.
- 11:49He was batting 252 at thirteen, double thirteen, Homer's been thirty-five runs batting in.
- 11:54Music playing
- 12:03Here's the wind up by Whitey and the first big fatty Oaks is a curved over strike one car.
- 12:09Whitey lost to the target six three back on May 19th, last and only two carries of an inning.
- 12:15And he's a defeat of the target, 14-3 on June 4th.
- 12:20Hicks to Yost's law, ball one one and one.
- 12:24Whitey lost his last shot to the target three two, that's when Maxwell hit that three run home and he ate any.
- 12:32Whitey's been picking good ball but he hasn't finished his game since June 23rd.
- 12:38Low curve is nine, it's down to the other base, ready, Yost.
- 12:42Boy he's found that curve here at least.
- 12:44It was a good change of curve by Whitey's order.
- 12:47Yost just waited for the pitch and lined it out in the center field.
- 12:51And here's some Scholly Maxwell.
- 12:56Maxwell is a pick-pair but well he might see it in all those black homers.
- 13:02Scholly's batting just 243 but he has nine double, two triple, 22 homers and 65 runs battled in.
- 13:12Hicks to fastball, low ball one.
- 13:23Ford thought there's a ball to first take but Yost is standing on the bed.
- 13:28One left and the Yankees are leading here in the bottom of the first inning.
- 13:32Whitey's picked, he picked the low ball through two another.
- 13:45Scholly's ripped it Maxwell.
- 13:56Here's a stretch.
- 13:58Pitch is low ball three, three and nothing.
- 14:14Now Yost for the short leadoff first, here's a stretch by Whitey.
- 14:17The pitch is low ball four.
- 14:20Maxwell walks on four straight pitchers.
- 14:24Yost walks down a second.
- 14:26That's what a person is.
- 14:28Harvey Sting.
- 14:32Sting leading the American League in batting by just one percentage point now over Roger Marasen against the City A's.
- 14:42Harvey has 26 double, six triple, five homers and 44 runs battled in.
- 14:48Yogi out to the mound and soft with Whitey's four.
- 14:55Harvey Edwards Sting who has a lifetime batting average of 308 for big lead before this year that is.
- 15:02Here's a stretch by Whitey.
- 15:0415 is taking low ball one.
- 15:06Harvey shot the ball and he had Hicks to low pass way back.
- 15:10Low pass was playing a deep third base, not expecting him to be in the bun.
- 15:14Harvey was going to drop one down and now, thanks to him, he moves the photographer away from home plate.
- 15:20He was on about 10 feet from the batting.
- 15:23Hicking the first pitchers and thanks to him, he moved him out of the way.
- 15:27It could be distracting.
- 15:29Hicks to two, another curve low ball two, two and nothing.
- 15:33Six straight balls that Whitey bought has strong.
- 15:36Bought a Maxwell's two to two.
- 15:38Harvey's first and second, nobody out here in the bottom of the first and he has, he's leading one nothing.
- 15:52Here's a stretch, the two nothing pitchers Hicks to the right, now way back, Hicks to the right.
- 15:58Hicks to pass, Yogi's catch up, easily moves the third base.
- 16:03A nice play by Mickey Maddow, just in front of the 400 foot sign and deep left center field.
- 16:11Yogi's catch up and easily went the third, and that's well, they're not catch up.
- 16:15He was waiting a second base to see if the ball could get by Maddow.
- 16:19And had a Peter Hicks to reach the first base, so the taggers have runners on first and third with one out.
- 16:26And here's Al Sailor, Sailor and having himself a fine here batting 340.
- 16:31He's third in the American ladies in batting, has $14, one triple, 16 homers and 57 runs out of there.
- 16:40How's it with William Sailor?
- 16:50Howard Holst first against Maxwell, he has seven double play depth, Yogi's leading off third.
- 16:56Here's a stretch by Whitey.
- 16:58He's service low outside 4-1.
- 17:01Hicks leading 1-0 on a think-so-body record in the first major league homer leading off the ball game.
- 17:16He'll be nailed down just this time, Whitey stretches, runners lead off first and third,
- 17:20curve in the third ball, two-two-nothing.
- 17:29Bayline never played any minor league ball, came out up to the Tigers in 1953.
- 17:34He's with them ever since.
- 17:37Now, as the identical I've seen batting happens coming in at this year, is Harvey Keane, 308.
- 17:43Whitey sets again.
- 17:47There was hit on the ground a second, Richardson to Bricktale for one, back to first.
- 17:52He's got a double play, that's a double play in Henric and Sailor in a hot wing with Barry.
- 17:57And Sailor just a little bit as he's trying to beat off that,
- 18:01returns to him from Bricktale with a good double play from Richardson to Bricktale to Howard.
- 18:08And so the Yankees get out of the jam there in the bottom of the first, trying to come up with no runs on one base hit.
- 18:18No Yankee errors in one man left to score at the end of one-fourth, isn't he?
- 18:22The Yankee is nothing, rather the Yankee is one and the Tigers, nothing.
- 18:28That's not made that mistake, Yankee's having a tough enough time winning without him taking a run away from it.
- 18:33Quick look at the scoreboard in the American League at the end of three-and-a-half Cleveland 3, Washington nothing, Pitcher against McLean.
- 18:39Boston at Kansas City tonight, Baltimore scored in the top of the first white-backed to batting, no doubt against Schur.
- 18:45And at the end of the league, St. Louis had lost to Angus, starts later on, Chicago at Kansas, and Pitcher starts later on,
- 18:50Philadelphia at Cincinnati, Cardwell against Nutsville, and Pitcher had no walking, nothing, nothing at the end of one, law against Verdez.
- 18:59Just a quick note here for you folks who are planning on seeing Paul Hahn, a Valentine's pick-up artist on his golf tour this coming Wednesday night at Fairlawn Driving Range, Fairlawn, New Jersey.
- 19:11We just want to let you know that the starting time is in full, from 8 o'clock to 8.45.
- 19:16You know, they've been making announcements at the time with the 8.45. Well, it's different things to 8.45.
- 19:21It's next Wednesday at the Fairlawn Driving Range.
- 19:28Elston Howard, swings in the disc, like one of the first discs.
- 19:35Elston batting 263, has 15 double-street shippers, 11 homers, and 41 runs batted in.
- 19:41He got his 11th on the last net. There's a curve over the outside corner, strike two.
- 19:46Howard tried to check his swing, but the ball had part of the plate.
- 19:56He lined up by four, that's the ground ball. Backhanded by Yos, nice play.
- 20:00Goes over to Daniel, one way.
- 20:04Eddie Yos still has those split ends.
- 20:12Eddie Yos has been playing with the Washington Center, some way back in 1944.
- 20:17Still can move around at Fairfax.
- 20:20Fairfax baller, he has the right field.
- 20:23That's batting 248, has 12 double-street shippers, 7 homers, and 24 on the ice.
- 20:28Another ground ball of third. It's an easy one.
- 20:30And a big hop to Yos, over to Daniel, two outs.
- 20:36Those are the kind of nints the other likes to get, those big, high-street hopters they call them.
- 20:41There's 50% of the lesson, filling in very well from the juggler to our top.
- 20:47That's batting 327, minus the 22, no extra base, hit one run, bat it in.
- 20:57Hit to 50, is over, strike one, car.
- 21:10Right on curve, over, strike two.
- 21:12Now he's still on this, two outs, nobody on. He's lead one nothing, we're on the top of the second.
- 21:27The two strikes hit, serves as a little bit high ball one, one ball two strikes.
- 21:43Point-back, that's the sign from Redwood holding in, serves just outside.
- 21:48Point-back, that's the walk off the mound, he thought that had part of the place.
- 21:52But it was just a little bit outside, two balls, two strikes and two outs.
- 21:58They stay for a little bit less here, figuring that he's a quick full hitter.
- 22:03What's that bat light on the end?
- 22:05The future set, he's a ground ball, he's short, heel, up with the ball.
- 22:09Over to Daniel, that's all 49 keys in the top of the second.
- 22:14No runs, no hits, no taggers, nobody left the score at the end of it, and he has 21, and the tag is enough.
- 22:21Hey mind you, remember old Sanders Day coming up, Saturday afternoon August 8th.
- 22:30Now Frankie's first as the latest member of the Hall of Fame to accept are three others,
- 22:34Charlie Grimm, Greg Rassie and Leslie Dormez.
- 22:37Grimm and Charlie Grimm, the great carbon and great manager.
- 22:43Greg Wilson, step center of the batter's box leading off for the taggers here in the bottom of the second. Wilson's batting 305, has 10 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers, 23 runs, batting in.
- 22:54That's ball is on the outside corner, strike 1 call.
- 23:05Wilson's one of those players, I find holding who has good luck against Yankee pitches.
- 23:14That's ball outside, I ball 1, 1, 1.
- 23:17See if I just hear all the tagger hitters are having a great deal of success against the Yankee pitches.
- 23:301-1 pitch, low curve is low, ball 2, 2-1.
- 23:40Yankees have only 1-3 of the 12-goals played against the taggers this year, the taggers winning the other nine.
- 23:51Two balls, one strike on Wilson, Yankee's lead 1-0 here in the bottom of the second.
- 23:56That's Gus Zernio, there every hit on the ground is short for Cal, up with the ball, over to Howlett, 1 away.
- 24:07One how bat brings up Gus Zernio.
- 24:12There's Gus batting 214, he used most days of 10 Saturdays, he has 2 doubles, 5 homers and main speed runs, bat it in.
- 24:25Gus Edward Zernio, nickname O'John Dyke, he's got the his tremendous shoulders and arms, he's really a big boy.
- 24:31For his first pitch, he's a curve hit on the ground in the hole and he's lucky to have no back and forth in the left field at the base pitch.
- 24:38He's been up with the ball and Zernio's done him with a single.
- 24:42But Cal would have gotten to the ball in the backhand, whether he could have thrown Zernio out or not is down for.
- 24:49So Zernio gets the second hit off Whitey Ford and it brings up Ted Lefthio to second base.
- 24:56Lefthio is batting 267, has 2 doubles, 3 homers and 10 runs, bat it in.
- 25:06Whitey's pitch to Lefthio is line to right field at base pitch and there's Lefthio base, Zernio's in on second going for third.
- 25:14So he holds up his power fast feeling, holds it to a long single. That ball is beautifully placed by Lefthio, he's stoked an outside curve ball to a right field,
- 25:24hit number 3 off Whitey and it's out to the man of torque to Ford Hill 4 for station identification.
- 25:45Two field with short shot batting 258, hasn't played too much, he's 8 for 31, 5 RBI's right hand hitter, real slim ball player.
- 25:55One set of curve and then holds the bat back at ball one and he started the bun at that ball, it was not the two side squeeze,
- 26:01as Zernio was not coming in on the pitch.
- 26:06One ball, the scoreboard has strike one up there, was an easy play to miss.
- 26:10The field started the bun at the ball two, the bat bat just in time, hit the check by Whitey, trying to lead off to the third, one away.
- 26:20Curve outside ball two, do another.
- 26:35Youngster throws a rubber ball out on the field and Whitey picks it up, lets it to heck the low pass, who bounces it into the dugout.
- 26:44It's a pretty looking ball, a little blue color, which put on color TV.
- 26:52He has to lead one nothing here at the bottom of the set, it's a set by Whitey.
- 26:56He's going to lead off first and third, throw to first base, let's go back.
- 27:01Now it has to be on the alert, because if he hasn't played first too much with Whitey's thinking he can get picked off.
- 27:07Whitey has like a tricky move, then the stretch by four.
- 27:12Curve is over strike one call, two balls one strike.
- 27:17He'll step back to look at Billy Hitchcock poking his third.
- 27:22Hitchcock's journey will be up there, let's see what's first.
- 27:32Hitchcock's line foul over Henley's third down the right field line, two and two to count.
- 27:38He'll hit that ball right off the end of the basket, fingers are sticking out of him.
- 27:57Two balls, two strikes, one out. Whitey stretches.
- 28:09One of the first lines drives each other in his life.
- 28:12Ford pulled him with a breaking ball and he started his swing, stopped it,
- 28:17and the ball went on a line, Hitchcock was ready to lead for the ball and realized it was too far over his head.
- 28:22The ball goes side one one as Daniel comes down to score and lets you hold at second base.
- 28:30Ford said it, that's hit number four off Whitey and his four points have to pitch it something up with Ron as his first.
- 28:39Second and one off to score side one one, point that's setting 0.91, he's four for 44.
- 28:44No extra base hits, no out of the eyes. Hitch is bonnet in front of the plate, going up and it goes to third base.
- 28:52He's trying to get Lopez, no chance for the two Lopez's in time to get left field.
- 28:56The L's are throwing me today.
- 28:59It was a pretty good one, but Ford really got off that mound and he had left field by quite a bit of third base.
- 29:06Leo moved to second, Ford's back is safe at first, it's a fourth place, from Ford to Lopez, one to five,
- 29:14here's Eddie Ocew, single as center in the first inning. He was starting 254.
- 29:31Two minutes left, score side one one here in the bottom of the second.
- 29:37Ford's field down at second, Ford's boy back at first, here's the stretch.
- 29:44Hit the Ocew, it's a curved low ball one.
- 29:49Ford's field, that was his sixth RBI of the year, on deck Charlie Maxwell.
- 29:58Why do you stretch it?
- 30:03Another curve a little bit high, ball two, two and a half.
- 30:08Here's overcast day here today in Detroit.
- 30:23Leo stepped out of the box, put some dirt on his hand, now he's ready to go.
- 30:33What he said, said zero second, the curve is high, ball three, three and nothing.
- 30:43Leo's looked down a silly hit, got close to his third.
- 30:48Here's Mike, get the green light, because Maxwell is a left hand batter, I know he hit Ford, it's pretty good.
- 30:54He's going to left hand hit her against the left hand, they might let Joe swing,
- 30:57and a three nothing fix to the silver, here's the stretch.
- 31:01He takes the strike one call, and then why do you take something off that fix,
- 31:05figuring that Joe's might be laying for the cripple.
- 31:09Three nothing fix, he's usually laying there just to get a strike over.
- 31:15Here's the stretch, fix is over strike two call, a fast ball, and I said that Yost was guessing that time.
- 31:22He took a fast ball right over the heart of the place.
- 31:27With a three two count, two outs, BLS second, and Ford packed that first, we'll be off with the fix.
- 31:32Bobby Sand gets the solution up in the anti dugout, here's the stretch, the runners go,
- 31:36the fix is taking high ball four, the walking man gets the run to walk.
- 31:42For Yost, he's 86 walk of the year.
- 31:46And with a base loader and two out hits, Charlie Maxwell.
- 31:58It was Maxwell's three run home in the 820.
- 32:03Of course, four to ball game, that's when he started against the Tigers.
- 32:16The oldies reminded Maxwell that today isn't Sunday, you know, Maxwell loves Sunday's day at home on time.
- 32:21All right, here's the wind up, he takes the Maxwell,
- 32:24the ground ball, the walk ball has his run, and so much feel, here's the score, here's the score, and here's the score in the Tigers' day three and one lead.
- 32:44Charlie Maxwell broke his bat on the ground ball between third and short, Lopez got his club on the ball,
- 32:50he flexed it away from Pristelen, short, left field, two field, and four four attack ball came across the score,
- 33:00and the Tigers now lead three to one.
- 33:05Charlie Maxwell hit the single at short left field, here's Harvey C. who's flying out to do left center field, his first center bat.
- 33:14The fix is over strike one ball.
- 33:19Maxwell only went up there batting 243, he leads the Tigers in RBI, it was 55, and he's still getting 67 on the air,
- 33:27so you know he hits in the clutch one attack, Harvey C. batting 345.
- 33:33The fix is over strike one ball, that's still a foul, he's still going, here's the score, he's going to hit the wall, here's the score, and the whole mix is going to stay loose.
- 33:57The official score has started foul with an error, that's a pretty rough score to find my say so.
- 34:06Foul was running as hard as he could, two is left, reached up as high as he could, the ball hit off the fingers of his glove and rolled to the wall,
- 34:17and then foul is charged with an error.
- 34:25So the official score realizing that Harvey C. has a good chance to win the batting round, still just foul the error.
- 34:36So no RBI for Harvey C. has another run scored, and the Tigers now leads the ball game 4-1,
- 34:48and Whitey Ford is out of the ball game, Whitey Ford leads the ball game, that's a picking 1-2-3 innings.
- 35:01He allows 4-5 bases, to walk one man, didn't strike out anybody, and has allowed 4 runs so far.
- 35:15Only 3 of those runs will be earned off Whitey as the error by foul permitted the other one, and any other runs that score will be earned in this inning.
- 35:36Bobby Sands coming on is making his 24th appearance for the year, Bobby's 1-4 and lost 3.
- 35:47Sands will be picking to Al Steylion, who is the nice man to bat in the second inning. Steylion bounced into a double play his first time at batting 3-39.
- 36:08Alright, Steylion steps into the batter spot, Max well as a third, he is down a second and a 2-2, the Tigers lead 4-1, we're in the bottom of the second.
- 36:22Bobby Sands, he pips, he is outside, they're going to walk Steylion and definitely a push to Red Wilkins.
- 36:35Sands getting on Sands and Yankees a little bit, they want to see Steylion, that's the case of Steylion playing the percentage.
- 36:41Now Steylion is third in batting in the American League, so they'd rather pick to Red Wilkins, who is not quite the hitter, that's Steylion, there's ball 4, Steylion,
- 36:50that's an intentional pass, the bases are getting loaded, and here's Red Wilkins, who started off their inning by bouncing the shortstop.
- 36:59The Wilkins could considerably make 2 outs in 1 inning, which is a little embarrassing.
- 37:10I played on a club with Steylion in the American Association where we battled around Green Sands in 1 inning.
- 37:18I threw out the bases loaded, 4-1's in the Tigers lead 4-1, Sands into the wind-up, he pips the Wilkins and he is low outside ball 1.
- 37:40One ball, no strike. Here's the wind-up by Bobby, there's a blind...
- 37:50Oh what a great pass, they knocked it down, picked it up, goes the first, moves down for the Wattickson,
- 37:55and then this play by Bobby, yes, and I don't believe there's another pitcher in the big lead who could have stopped that ball,
- 38:01and then gone back and picked it up and thrown the runner out.
- 38:04Now, this is Ryan's drive that almost knocked Sands over, he knocked it down, reached for the ball 1, moved it away,
- 38:11then reached again, picked it up and fired the first, it's time to get Wilkins.
- 38:16And I say 99 out of 100 other pitchers would not have gotten down and found that ball would have gone right through their legs out to center field for a base pitch,
- 38:25and Red Wilkins has the distinction of making 2 outs in 1 inning here in the second inning.
- 38:30He led off the inning and ended the inning. Four of the Tigers in the bottom of the second inning,
- 38:35four runs on four base pitch, one Yankee error, and three men left on base,
- 38:41the score at the end of two for the inning, but Tigers four and the Yankees one.
- 38:50There's, don't forget, old Sanders Day, Saturday afternoon, August the 8th,
- 38:54Yankee stadium, and as a special added feature, the Yankees have invited the former Major League of First Basin, Chuck Connors.
- 39:02Alright, here's Mel Allen to take over.
- 39:09Hello there everybody. It's the first half of the third inning.
- 39:15Bobby Sands is the first schedule batter.
- 39:25Then we'll have Bobby Richardson and Norm Siebert.
- 39:30Tigers leading four to one.
- 39:46All four attacks to the windup deliver.
- 39:49Fast follow-up.
- 39:50Back one.
- 40:00Next delivery, and there's strike two, helping in two.
- 40:12The TigerLad hanner gets the sign from Red Wilson, swings to the windup, fires away, and Bobby takes the inside ball one and two.
- 40:24Jantad three for 14, hitting two 14.
- 40:31The one two-fifth, flung on the high fly ball into the short right center.
- 40:45One away, and the batter now is Bobby Richardson, who opened the game, crowding his first Major League homer.
- 40:52For the Yankees only hit some runs.
- 41:02The batting is a 0-77.
- 41:04Four-tack six, flung on as the ground ball hit through, third, and the left field for base hit.
- 41:10Bobby takes the wide-serm, Maxwell charges the ball so quickly through left field, and Richardson backs the bat to the first.
- 41:18Jantad three just batted to the down of the ball pen to warm up some more.
- 41:25Norm Siebrin hitting two 70s, off to short on the first inning.
- 41:33The man on deck.
- 41:36The man is leading four to one. Throw to first Richardson backs.
- 41:49Quickly throws over again, Richardson backs.
- 42:08Throw over there three straight times.
- 42:12Bobby's answers were off the bat, pretty wide, I think.
- 42:18Now the set and the pitch. It's low inside, ball one.
- 42:40Four-tack delivery, Siebrin. Richardson hits the high, fly ball to D-flap center, goes Maxwell back to the screen, and he reaches up and backs it.
- 42:49Richardson would already have backed second and turned it, goes back, retracts, and raises back to first.
- 42:55Siebrin almost put the Yankees back in the ball game. He gets to the opposite field, the D-flap center.
- 43:01Charlie Maxwell went over and caught it with his back against the screen.
- 43:09Now, Mickey Mantle steps up in the 294, like a third strike in the first inning.
- 43:19Two outs, one more. Four-tack to the stretch, and the pitch. One on his next strike line.
- 43:36Right-hander ready, delivery. Mantle swings with the high, pop foul.
- 43:40Way up there, also, the rest of the plate. Wilson and Yolk, and Wilson backs it.
- 43:49And ball one. A mile up in the air.
- 43:53Drive three times. No runs, one hit, no errors, one left off, down to three-and-a-half, and he scores four, and New York, one.
- 44:02In the last half of the 13, just string, he leaves off.
- 44:08That's beyond that, and two field to follow.
- 44:12Four-to-one in favor of the choice.
- 44:14Tigers hardly get rid of Whitey Ford as they did on Larsen last night.
- 44:21Whitey seldom has had much luck against Tigers, seven and six last time against them.
- 44:27And when you consider his overall last-time record, which is 115 wins and only 46, Tigers, the one team, he has the least success.
- 44:47Bobby Shant, then the lead.
- 44:50Into the wind up, here's the picture of the Big Dust Jungle, been there for a sight.
- 45:00The jungle who has been mostly pinched at her part-time players recently installed at First Base.
- 45:07The delivery change-up is lined as we can catch by Lopez and Ferret for the out.
- 45:16One away.
- 45:22Frank Lusetti had just whistled two low pairs and told them to back up a couple of steps just before the pitch.
- 45:29I don't see him ever gotten the ball.
- 45:32Ted Blevstill, single to right in the second inning.
- 45:35Good delivery.
- 45:36And then, strike one.
- 45:41Ted Blevstill, 72. Frank Bolling, half of the N2, throws Rocky Bridges.
- 45:49Next picture is the left side for Ball.
- 45:53Bridges playing an ankle-and-mice.
- 45:57Bolling has huge clutches on his right foot.
- 46:07One pitch to left heel, fouled off double after the play.
- 46:11Strike two, one and two.
- 46:13He actually has some good news where the arrival this morning of Bill Cowan who has been to the male funny checking on his back.
- 46:25McGoogle doesn't feel any better.
- 46:28No Curly.
- 46:29No Cubex.
- 46:31No Curry.
- 46:33Next pitch is fun on a foul-back outplay.
- 46:41Moose just might get into the ball game tomorrow.
- 46:45Big fighting practice and felt very well instead.
- 46:55Bobby's down for the wind-up and the pitch.
- 46:59Low outside, two-two and let up through ball.
- 47:11Good delivery.
- 47:13That's in there for called strike three.
- 47:16Made my fast through ball at time.
- 47:20Now Coupe Hill, heading 281.
- 47:26Whitey just didn't have anything today, way off in his control.
- 47:31Got out of the jam in the first inning but six of us got back in good in the second.
- 47:36And the Tigers were quick to hop on.
- 47:44The C1 delivery.
- 47:46Long on line, out in the left center field and will be in there for extra minutes.
- 47:50The turn is first, Culline makes the nice recovery pose in and Yogi's off the second with a double.
- 47:59Yogi's been hitting more through the outfield right here.
- 48:08That's the local air that he's given once.
- 48:12Why the left field in the first inning?
- 48:15He's got his hands on two balls in the second inning at once per base hit.
- 48:24And the Tigers got their four on.
- 48:29The boy can't see the pitch, the pitch is on the base.
- 48:31Long on line, down the left field line, and it's per base hit.
- 48:34Yogi around first, comes in the store, low pass man first,
- 48:37seeing it to the ball, both the second and low pass is on the second near the double.
- 48:42And the four to two.
- 48:48Low pass man, we're 60 at once.
- 48:53Now there's no one ahead at the start,
- 48:55there's been out of action as much as you've been out of action this year.
- 49:01Elston Howard, hitting a 360, down to the third in the second inning.
- 49:09More chance for the threat, Elston Howard, fastball to the top side, ball one.
- 49:14Low on the way.
- 49:23More chance for the time to move.
- 49:27In the distress, they've hit the high, so before the strike, one at a once.
- 49:40That's how I'm dead.
- 49:50Go right man, here it goes, when they wind this last night.
- 49:53Howard's placing down to the back.
- 49:56And the old second, both those two done, and Howard's the third.
- 50:01And he's trying to get through the middle,
- 50:04but it's just to the left of the man,
- 50:06and it's on the field, boys, that started over.
- 50:09Now, that's that hitter.
- 50:11Now, high foul hitting C-47.
- 50:15That was a big play to look at baseball.
- 50:17He's gotten a lot of over the third,
- 50:19he's been hitting four on a flat ball.
- 50:24And they hit out of the hand perfection play.
- 50:27That's going away, ball one.
- 50:29Things are the same as all players always talk about, and Maggie,
- 50:33when you hit him in the back out, they say,
- 50:35it's a new game.
- 50:37Getting that man over, getting at it to the base.
- 50:42Now, the pitch, that's playing reasons,
- 50:44is that the ball fouls back to the scene.
- 50:50And the guy that's out, he said he's a really good pitch.
- 50:55He brings it up to him.
- 51:02And he was swinging for the feet.
- 51:09One ball, one strike.
- 51:12One out, one in.
- 51:13Four to three, two shots, four to three.
- 51:15Well, there's off second, the pitch to bow.
- 51:17One on air to grind, the feet center.
- 51:20There goes full line by Seath and Mr. Cass.
- 51:23And local, it's lined up, and he lays.
- 51:26He's back to second.
- 51:33Of course, he had to play it.
- 51:36Off the bag, and in the event the ball might have cleared the play line.
- 51:40And he's deep, but straight away.
- 51:45And the pitch to the ball, he's down to fourth, the second,
- 51:48and that is three, seven, two.
- 51:50So you see the player I was talking about,
- 51:52Howard has gotten a little better over the third,
- 51:54he's been off the plate on that ball.
- 51:57And then four to three.
- 52:02There's the pitch to the ball, and the tie for the ball.
- 52:05Of course, pitch is great,
- 52:07things that pitch can happen sometimes in different situations.
- 52:13The foul is the first.
- 52:19Once that's all set, there it is,
- 52:21but that'll take the topside ball to.
- 52:25I'm getting a much to buy that right here.
- 52:27I'm going to go ahead and let's pass through up next.
- 52:44You're out on the pitch.
- 52:47It's a little roller, it's the third, and it's foul ball.
- 52:52Foul ball.
- 52:54We never want to have you baseball.
- 52:57This is about you by Valentine's Day in Hale
- 52:59and at Lander-Cathleen, over WLK,
- 53:0114th century on everybody's right shoulder.
- 53:05Don't forget to subscribe to the ground,
- 53:07up here, Jim Renter following today's video.
- 53:10Let's go.
- 53:29What's that delivery?
- 53:31and popped it up to first.
- 53:33Eddie Yolk, 100.
- 53:35Waiting next to the captain aside for the time.
- 53:39He has just got one run.
- 53:41He hit.
- 53:43No time to error. One last year left on.
- 53:45He made off-soubles, and that was the end of it.
- 53:47At the end of the first and a half ofnings,
- 53:49he scored four.
- 53:51New York, two.
- 53:53We call for a safe night out of the Cacus.
- 54:01This is W. O. K. L. in Albany, New York.
- 54:03Don't forget to join me at Ground Up with Jim Rainier,
- 54:05following us today and then.
- 54:11All points out there's a batter as we play in the last half of the fourth inning.
- 54:15Bobby Stanton, a late from White and Ford,
- 54:17delivers the right-hand hitters, takes the strike.
- 54:19Yolk's the natural of the ball.
- 54:29Boycats, hitting 89.
- 54:33Plains to lift the foul off first-hour players.
- 54:35Powered the adapted thing, if good.
- 54:37Two strikes.
- 54:53Nothing in the way to count now on Boycats.
- 54:55The chance to use delivery is outside one and two.
- 55:15The one-two-six.
- 55:17Curve is down to the short.
- 55:19The shallow player starts his on over to Howard,
- 55:21and there's one away.
- 55:23Calvary off man, Eddie Yolk.
- 55:25Fangled the center and walk.
- 55:27That 81 base is on balls, he gives.
- 55:35He's been on base 156-5,
- 55:37not counting errors,
- 55:39hitting it by a fifth foul.
- 55:47Danced delivers the right-hand batter,
- 55:49if the outside corner strikes one.
- 55:59The one-two-six.
- 56:01Boons up, there's outside,
- 56:03one and one, a lead up, through ball.
- 56:11One ball, one strike, on Eddie Yolk.
- 56:13Bobby Stanton with a wind up,
- 56:15then comes the pitch,
- 56:17Yolk takes the inside for ball two,
- 56:19through and one.
- 56:37Danced delivers,
- 56:39Yolk takes,
- 56:41two, low curve, 50.
- 56:53Now the 50 delivers.
- 56:55Outside ball three, Grimby.
- 57:11Pulls down on Eddie Yolk.
- 57:13And the payoff takes.
- 57:15Slung on a high-poundser foul
- 57:17down the third base line,
- 57:19and then a hip-touch feeling.
- 57:39And the payoff takes.
- 57:41Slung on, bounce the short,
- 57:43but the ball rolls on over the first and then the inside.
- 57:45That ball rolled up his arm into the cook to the elbow,
- 57:47but he uncooked it.
- 57:53Two up and two down,
- 57:55and there's Charlie Maxwell,
- 57:57hitting 345, who walks and singles his bled.
- 58:0342 to the correct, four finish.
- 58:07Off-all, there's Charlie,
- 58:09from off-all Michigan.
- 58:11Danced delivers,
- 58:13and there's Frank Warns.
- 58:25The one-side-stage,
- 58:27is hung on and pumped up from the air
- 58:29behind the plate.
- 58:31Yolk, Yondred, waiting,
- 58:33and has it.
- 58:35Drive's retired.
- 58:37No runs, no hits,
- 58:39no errors, no one left on.
- 58:41The first and the fourth are played,
- 58:43so it's four on, five hits, one error, four left on.
- 58:45The anti-stool runs, four hits, one error,
- 58:47and three left on base.
- 59:17That's her, and we did keep on the go,
- 59:19with Atlatics, thanks to a little simply touch,
- 59:21during the last weeks and days,
- 59:23and I think it's a little crazy,
- 59:25who's very nicely took over for us,
- 59:27over the past weekend,
- 59:29we've been traveling in our state of York,
- 59:31and Atlatics and Rio, gasoline,
- 59:33we really gotta support those girls
- 59:35on the early half-states.
- 59:37Suddenly as we, uh,
- 59:39we're going to be
- 59:41going to the next stage,
- 59:43and we're going to be
- 59:45uh,
- 59:47we're passing through the
- 59:49up-duty beef.
- 59:51We got our Atlatics after the end,
- 59:53and we're going to be in the Wallach Hotel,
- 59:55over in West New York,
- 59:57and we've got a lot of wonky bags,
- 59:59the rest are at the Wallach Hotel from the other side.
- 1:00:03Voice-backed pitch,
- 1:00:05going away, and the count's going one-off,
- 1:00:07guys.
- 1:00:09Bobby,
- 1:00:11flying through short flights,
- 1:00:13deferred innings,
- 1:00:15using the leaf of four.
- 1:00:17Four-tact delivery,
- 1:00:19hide inside.
- 1:00:41Two balls, one strike,
- 1:00:43and a pitch,
- 1:00:44and a shot inside, ball three, three and one.
- 1:00:54A three-one count on
- 1:00:56Robert Scott, Robert Clay Scott,
- 1:00:58if you believe it.
- 1:01:00Voice-backed to the wind up,
- 1:01:02fires away, and it's in there,
- 1:01:04back to the just a little off-fash ball.
- 1:01:08Freeze for that, for the New York fans,
- 1:01:10sometimes the colors' pass balls jump,
- 1:01:12so it takes a little off, and it figures
- 1:01:14the bad one-fee swing, and it gets the strike.
- 1:01:16Three-two-six, there's any time for ball four,
- 1:01:18the ball's failed again.
- 1:01:20Bobby Sands walks,
- 1:01:22open the fifth,
- 1:01:24and that's the first half,
- 1:01:26fifty-five, voice-backed.
- 1:01:30Now Bobby Hitchens,
- 1:01:32and Homer's and Singleton left.
- 1:01:34Two-two-two,
- 1:01:36eighty-three, one.
- 1:01:42No one's seen it on deck.
- 1:01:50Voice-backed ready, delivers,
- 1:01:52the fifth, the second half-side for a ball,
- 1:01:54and Bobby Fluss to the bottom.
- 1:01:56He had no idea of attempting to sacrifice,
- 1:02:00he might have had a notion of
- 1:02:02a month for a base pitch.
- 1:02:04Tom Morgan starts warming up for a short.
- 1:02:10Voice-backed ready,
- 1:02:12and it's the swing, the swing,
- 1:02:14and it's the strike one, the flop, the flop,
- 1:02:16fold the back-back, and it's time
- 1:02:18to get the arms to the heel.
- 1:02:26Trying to avoid hitting into a double-play,
- 1:02:28trying to punch the singles to the right,
- 1:02:30that was his objective.
- 1:02:32He'll short-buff the third,
- 1:02:34then you're holding the back-stand,
- 1:02:36and the pitch,
- 1:02:38going on in foul-back, strike two, one and two.
- 1:02:56One ball, two strikes.
- 1:02:58The back-to-final ball, it gets the time
- 1:03:00from Red Wilson to the straight,
- 1:03:02and the pitch, pin-side, and the two-two-count.
- 1:03:11Guy just leaving four to two, we're in the fifth inning.
- 1:03:26Voice-backed ready,
- 1:03:28and it's the lead-off first.
- 1:03:30There he goes, the pitch is going on,
- 1:03:32and grounded by a third to left field,
- 1:03:34and the second holds up,
- 1:03:36and Moppa, Maxwell, crosses in to Eddie Yolk.
- 1:03:38Third straight hit for Red Wilson.
- 1:03:42And drop the strike,
- 1:03:44and they ran Bobby, the data double-play,
- 1:03:48and he's grounded, but grounded by Yolk.
- 1:03:52Norm Seublin coming up, pops the short,
- 1:03:54and flies to each left center,
- 1:03:56and Moppa goes back to the swing,
- 1:03:58and in two-fifty-nine.
- 1:04:16There's the pitch,
- 1:04:18going on, there's the drive,
- 1:04:20and the deep-right center field,
- 1:04:22and that ball is up against the wall,
- 1:04:24and it's about to run Jack down,
- 1:04:26and both take a little place,
- 1:04:28one on top of the other, and they both score,
- 1:04:30and it's not a stride apart,
- 1:04:32on a double-by-cever.
- 1:04:34Jack said to hold up, and that's clear the ball is in there,
- 1:04:36give me Jack's design of the dugout.
- 1:04:38And Bobby was right on his heels.
- 1:04:40You thought they were finishing up the 100-yard jack,
- 1:04:42and Richard Simmer signed the beating of the wire.
- 1:04:44And the winner of the 100-yard jack is Bobby Jack.
- 1:04:54You know, I reminded you of a play I didn't see,
- 1:04:56but the long before my time,
- 1:04:58I think it was Dixie Walker,
- 1:05:00when he first came out with the Aggies,
- 1:05:04and Luke Jerry, I believe I have my name right back,
- 1:05:06because I was going to have to try and mark it
- 1:05:08and see how our margin coming in goes high for all.
- 1:05:16And they both were tagged out at home plate,
- 1:05:20just like that, on a throw and came in,
- 1:05:22and they were on top of the other,
- 1:05:26and broke came in, and he had to tag them both out, bang bang.
- 1:05:30Norm Sieben, last is a long double to right center.
- 1:05:42During dance and reciting,
- 1:05:44makes it 4-4, Sieben's 14th double,
- 1:05:4642 runs, batted in, and Paul Foyback is leading.
- 1:05:54And that double, that's lighting forward off the hook.
- 1:05:56You no longer is involved in decision,
- 1:05:58it was just going to 3.
- 1:06:04Foyback, on 4 innings plus, somebody out on the 5th,
- 1:06:08giving up 6th hit.
- 1:06:14Walked 1,
- 1:06:20just out 1,
- 1:06:22and he's been charged with 4 runs,
- 1:06:24and Sieben would be his responsibility to score.
- 1:06:30Tom Morgan,
- 1:06:32one time well-groomed,
- 1:06:34coming on on the 5th, nobody out.
- 1:06:36Tom has about a pretty good relief hit.
- 1:06:46Man will be the first batter to go face.
- 1:06:48If he's Morgan's 29th appearance,
- 1:06:50as directed at 1-4,
- 1:06:52and run to out with 3.39,
- 1:06:54Man will pick the first track
- 1:06:56and file out for the catcher,
- 1:06:58hitting 293.
- 1:07:00There's the pick,
- 1:07:02going on his miss, strike 1,
- 1:07:04helping in 1.
- 1:07:06Strike 1, helping in 1.
- 1:07:14There on deck, and no pair of follow-ups.
- 1:07:20Tom all set,
- 1:07:22and the pick.
- 1:07:24Money's in the air, right for now,
- 1:07:26and it's taken by Morgan.
- 1:07:28Man will pump out
- 1:07:30through the picture on the front.
- 1:07:36In the front,
- 1:07:38and he'll try on the front his way on,
- 1:07:40at the same time, move the runner over to 3rd.
- 1:07:42And here's Hilton Barra,
- 1:07:44hitting 277,
- 1:07:46rounded the second,
- 1:07:48and double the left side.
- 1:07:56Hilton is warming up for a Detroit,
- 1:07:58one out now and a fifth.
- 1:08:06Morgan into the catch,
- 1:08:08Hilton, up side, far 1.
- 1:08:101,
- 1:08:121,
- 1:08:141,
- 1:08:161,
- 1:08:26Morgan delivers to Hilton,
- 1:08:28low ball 2.
- 1:08:48Morgan's that pick,
- 1:08:50and low ball 3.
- 1:09:00Here's Hilton coming up.
- 1:09:02We're a 0 now.
- 1:09:043 balls, no strikes,
- 1:09:06and the pick.
- 1:09:08It's low ball 4.
- 1:09:10That was a so-called
- 1:09:20apparently unintentional, intentional walk.
- 1:09:24What they do,
- 1:09:26you might wonder why some of the Neurophants,
- 1:09:28why didn't they go ahead and deliver the walk,
- 1:09:30and they try to make them go after a bad hit,
- 1:09:32and get a head up on the count,
- 1:09:34and make them hit third,
- 1:09:36and play it in the deep row,
- 1:09:38and that's the low pass,
- 1:09:40trying to left double to right.
- 1:09:42The pick is low ball 1.
- 1:09:44Low pass hitting 3.
- 1:09:46We drove in the first gas we run.
- 1:09:54We've been on second,
- 1:09:56and there are on first,
- 1:09:58one out for fifth, two in,
- 1:10:00and we're on second.
- 1:10:10Now, Morgan ready, and the pick.
- 1:10:12There's drop five, ball 2.
- 1:10:14Morgan's, ours that we might want to
- 1:10:16know where that pick was.
- 1:10:18There's a calm third appearance
- 1:10:20of the year coming to New York.
- 1:10:22No decision.
- 1:10:26One course four, and then go out,
- 1:10:28two hits to low runs,
- 1:10:30and another station works in,
- 1:10:32and then low runs.
- 1:10:34We only dropped second,
- 1:10:36ball off first, one out,
- 1:10:38and a two-nothing count off,
- 1:10:40low pass, and the pick.
- 1:10:42We're on third,
- 1:10:44and we're on third,
- 1:10:46low pass, and the pick.
- 1:10:48Right over, strike one, in one.
- 1:11:08Morgan to the fifth,
- 1:11:10and the pick.
- 1:11:12We'll have to play strike two, two, two.
- 1:11:27Frank Larry is over there in New York tomorrow afternoon.
- 1:11:34We're on two out, and a two-two count,
- 1:11:36a one out, I mean a two-two count,
- 1:11:38the pick is going on and fouled off
- 1:11:40out of play to the right of the play.
- 1:11:44Two balls, two strikes,
- 1:11:46two in, and one out.
- 1:11:48Four fours to the store,
- 1:11:52and seven years ago.
- 1:12:04I'm Morgan, release of Paul Boykatt.
- 1:12:06Let's resign from Rick Wilson.
- 1:12:10He's talking to the head to low pass
- 1:12:12to distract him a little.
- 1:12:16Morgan in the stretch,
- 1:12:18and the pick.
- 1:12:20Clung on to the bounce of the youth,
- 1:12:22over to second, but one out, back to first, double player.
- 1:12:28Morgan, pull him out of the jam.
- 1:12:30Two runs for New York.
- 1:12:34He hits.
- 1:12:36No errors for the Tigers,
- 1:12:38and three Yankees left the board.
- 1:12:42Tom Morgan
- 1:12:44turned in his jump,
- 1:12:46and a pass in that's given the guys
- 1:12:48more than two.
- 1:12:50And both end of four and a half on him.
- 1:12:52He had to force the Tigers four.
- 1:12:54And our friend, let's take time off
- 1:12:56for a message about today's
- 1:12:58newest gasoline,
- 1:13:00New Atlantic Inc.
- 1:13:02Listen!
- 1:13:04Listen!
- 1:13:06Listen!
- 1:13:08Listen!
- 1:13:10Listen!
- 1:13:12Listen!
- 1:13:14Listen!
- 1:13:16Listen!
- 1:13:18Listen!
- 1:13:20Listen!
- 1:13:22It can happen when you step down
- 1:13:24on the accelerator for full power,
- 1:13:26but not can also happen
- 1:13:28when you step down part ways
- 1:13:30to maintain cruising speed.
- 1:13:32Now, with New Atlantic
- 1:13:34Imperial Dacri in listen!
- 1:13:36Move, not free power!
- 1:13:40For full acceleration,
- 1:13:42and for regular highways riding,
- 1:13:44four miles per gallon,
- 1:13:46for top economy,
- 1:13:48let here's the sound of not free power
- 1:13:50and no need to money.
- 1:13:52Listen!
- 1:13:54Your life's a difference.
- 1:13:56Why New Atlantic Imperial Dacri
- 1:13:58to be your car on the go?
- 1:14:10The last half of the fifth inning,
- 1:14:14Harvey King coming to bat,
- 1:14:16Taylor Island Betts and
- 1:14:18Wilson to follow.
- 1:14:24Now the pictures are
- 1:14:26Bobby Stant and Tom Morgan,
- 1:14:28with their starters, four-pack,
- 1:14:30and four,
- 1:14:32now for consideration.
- 1:14:36Harvey King hitting
- 1:14:38345, Stant is fixed,
- 1:14:40then there for strike.
- 1:14:56One strike, you're livin'.
- 1:14:58Upside, ball one, one in one.
- 1:15:02You know, no matter how long
- 1:15:04you watch balls and you can,
- 1:15:06I guess I'll watch
- 1:15:083-4 thousand of them.
- 1:15:10I mean, he's lost that.
- 1:15:12There's always the little things that increase you.
- 1:15:14Here's the picture,
- 1:15:16pattern's not all,
- 1:15:18always worked out of course,
- 1:15:20that's what makes the game exciting,
- 1:15:22but Tom Morgan come in
- 1:15:24and he wouldn't get the opening thing.
- 1:15:26He'd have to walk him,
- 1:15:28and he was man or wasn't hitting,
- 1:15:30and he'd slump.
- 1:15:32So you'd take those dancers down in the low-fares,
- 1:15:34he'd have to have the enemies pretty neat.
- 1:15:36Let's deliver,
- 1:15:38swing on, hit foul, about the third,
- 1:15:40and a little more fan.
- 1:15:44In this game, you think of a pattern,
- 1:15:46and you try to
- 1:15:48make it fit,
- 1:15:50and personally it does, you play it percentage.
- 1:15:56You guys can always come out that way,
- 1:15:58and that's what makes the game interesting.
- 1:16:00Get your shoes, that's what the ballway wants to,
- 1:16:02and follow that pattern.
- 1:16:08So one thing to deliver now to Harvey Ful,
- 1:16:10Bobbie's desk,
- 1:16:12coming up in a moment.
- 1:16:16Bobbie to the wind-up,
- 1:16:18here's the picture,
- 1:16:20swing on, and say,
- 1:16:22fly ball foul, now let's see how I out of play.
- 1:16:24That was a little thorough,
- 1:16:26just blew up here on the screen,
- 1:16:28after all that, right?
- 1:16:30Not watching the game,
- 1:16:32he's watching the people.
- 1:16:36Right turns around the other way,
- 1:16:38he's watching the game.
- 1:16:42The one to deliver, swing on,
- 1:16:44bounce short, short, for a count,
- 1:16:46up with it, it throws on over the first,
- 1:16:48and the bad throw,
- 1:16:50and it goes in a little bit,
- 1:16:52and passes off,
- 1:16:54the throw down the second,
- 1:16:56and it's on, and it's on.
- 1:16:58On the roof,
- 1:17:00and it's on,
- 1:17:02and foul,
- 1:17:04down the right-field line,
- 1:17:06out of play, it's like one.
- 1:17:08The fan made it back to that ball,
- 1:17:10and the others
- 1:17:12were there approvals.
- 1:17:30I'll be playing on second base,
- 1:17:32but on the other, nobody else.
- 1:17:34Here's the bit down,
- 1:17:36the ball,
- 1:17:38and it's a high fly ball, and to left field,
- 1:17:42Steven Gunner is meant to catch,
- 1:17:44swing holds the second.
- 1:17:46Oh, and the fitting is 3-39,
- 1:17:48here's Ray Wilkins,
- 1:17:50grounded in short,
- 1:17:52and it's to the box, both on the second inning,
- 1:17:54the start of the inning, and end of the game.
- 1:17:56Although he hits the
- 1:18:00ball hard to second time,
- 1:18:02up with three men aboard,
- 1:18:04the wicked liner extends,
- 1:18:06and the second,
- 1:18:08the best general to follow.
- 1:18:18Four judges, four fifth innings.
- 1:18:24Bobby, end of the stretch,
- 1:18:26and the pitch to Wilkins,
- 1:18:28and the player, Frank Wines.
- 1:18:48Bobby, then the stretch,
- 1:18:50and they drop second.
- 1:18:52The pitch to Wilkins,
- 1:18:54and the ball in the left where they hit,
- 1:18:58it comes through around third,
- 1:19:00here's the throw to the plate,
- 1:19:02and I'm trying,
- 1:19:04and it is 5-4 to start.
- 1:19:06Wilson,
- 1:19:08and the left,
- 1:19:10the score, Harvey June,
- 1:19:12and the side,
- 1:19:14he's about in front, 5-4.
- 1:19:20Wilson, driving in here,
- 1:19:22third.
- 1:19:40One run in, one on,
- 1:19:42and one out.
- 1:19:44The pitch to Daniel,
- 1:19:46one on in this, Frank Wines.
- 1:20:04The pitch,
- 1:20:06pops up in there at a first,
- 1:20:08and now it's nice to pass.
- 1:20:12And so Bobby,
- 1:20:14and the pitch to Wines,
- 1:20:16without a run bin,
- 1:20:18but he's still operating,
- 1:20:20with two back mccougels,
- 1:20:22and carry on a back in the anti-descent,
- 1:20:24has been riddled,
- 1:20:26and it is hurt to club.
- 1:20:32Heads up to the O,
- 1:20:34single to right,
- 1:20:36hitting 2-69.
- 1:20:38Here's the pitch to the right-hand battery,
- 1:20:40swings and sounds just foul,
- 1:20:42down the third base line,
- 1:20:44track one.
- 1:21:025-4 to start,
- 1:21:04so that's the finish.
- 1:21:08Dan Timberlake, Wilson leads off first.
- 1:21:10Pitch is way outside.
- 1:21:14He's caught Yogi up.
- 1:21:20He didn't reach the sign right now,
- 1:21:22he and Yogi get together,
- 1:21:24Yogi got the dot out there and grab it,
- 1:21:26and he's got the dot out there.
- 1:21:46Bobby's down to the threat,
- 1:21:48that's for another pitch to left field,
- 1:21:50over.
- 1:21:52One ball, two strikes,
- 1:21:54one hit, one error,
- 1:21:56one left off.
- 1:22:04Once again, we're set to pitch to left field,
- 1:22:06swing on a little cap in front of the plate,
- 1:22:08Yogi out in front of the plate,
- 1:22:10up with a ball, post the first,
- 1:22:12and the side's retired.
- 1:22:14The side has got another one run,
- 1:22:16one hit, one error,
- 1:22:18one left off.
- 1:22:20Up down to five ends of play, he's caught,
- 1:22:22five on six hits,
- 1:22:24one error, five left off.
- 1:22:26He has to score on six hits,
- 1:22:28two errors,
- 1:22:30and five men left on base.
- 1:22:32Now, fans, let's pursue
- 1:22:34an interesting message from that place.
- 1:22:40Makes good listening, doesn't it?
- 1:22:42I hear something else that makes good listening
- 1:22:44when you're on the go and you're tired.
- 1:22:46Ooh, not free power.
- 1:22:48The kind you get with new
- 1:22:50Atlantic Imperial gasoline
- 1:22:52for sure, safe acceleration,
- 1:22:54but even more important, for regular
- 1:22:56highway drivers.
- 1:22:58Sing your Atlantic, Peter.
- 1:23:00Try new Atlantic Imperial gasoline
- 1:23:02on listen, you'll like the difference.
- 1:23:04Not free power that saves you money.
- 1:23:12Check over the Atlantic scoreboard.
- 1:23:14Cleveland, after eight innings,
- 1:23:16leads for Washington Senators,
- 1:23:18eight to one.
- 1:23:20The Phillies and Cincinnati,
- 1:23:22the Bells lead four to nothing,
- 1:23:24that game is now on the sixth inning.
- 1:23:26The Washington East Fifth first,
- 1:23:28two to nothing, that game is in the seventh inning.
- 1:23:34Baltimore and Chicago are in the
- 1:23:36American League, they're tied one-one
- 1:23:38at the end of five and eight.
- 1:23:40Alston Howard heads the curve
- 1:23:42outside, follow on as we move
- 1:23:44into the top of the sixth inning.
- 1:23:50That is a two-61.
- 1:23:52Tom Morgan out on the mound,
- 1:23:54it's just game to win a lose now,
- 1:23:56Bobby Sands also putting in the
- 1:23:58first inning. There's a curve over
- 1:24:00one-on-one this time.
- 1:24:02Bobby Porter started the game,
- 1:24:04had he been charged with the Lord,
- 1:24:06would he even use that time record with
- 1:24:08to come close to being five-hundred with Whitey?
- 1:24:10There's a high hopper, going to have to charge this one,
- 1:24:12Yost.
- 1:24:14He was down there and found a beautiful play
- 1:24:16by Eddie Yost, it was a high hopper
- 1:24:18off all-place,
- 1:24:20that Coutil couldn't have thrown Howard Howard.
- 1:24:22And Eddie Yost
- 1:24:24got in front of the store, stopped quartered on the
- 1:24:26short hopper and really rifled it so that
- 1:24:28he'll just get Howard.
- 1:24:32One way, it's pretty
- 1:24:34way to watch, is Hank Barlow
- 1:24:36who passed the third five-centers here.
- 1:24:40Hank's got him to forty-six.
- 1:24:45He drives through to the left,
- 1:24:47that's a little fast.
- 1:24:49He's off the wall, and
- 1:24:51powers around first and then a second base with a double.
- 1:24:53Man, that was only a couple of feet from being a home run
- 1:24:55and trying to wrap the board game.
- 1:24:57Howard doubled high off the left rear wall.
- 1:25:09That's the first hit of a Tom Morgan
- 1:25:11that he's been going for four points.
- 1:25:13And it brings us pretty quick down,
- 1:25:15a bounce to the short hopper third,
- 1:25:17the tailbatter is 208.
- 1:25:19Now these are second,
- 1:25:21that's the old second base.
- 1:25:29Morgan's third ball is powered back by one.
- 1:25:35The taller than
- 1:25:37on 20, it doesn't swing too much with the wrist,
- 1:25:39sort of a step on 20.
- 1:25:41Morgan sets the sign from Red Wilkins,
- 1:25:43now leading off second base.
- 1:25:49There's a catch by the power bar.
- 1:25:51He sets the strike through,
- 1:25:53he swings and misses a second ball.
- 1:25:55Well then when he's both side on the third ball,
- 1:25:57he's going to be a little bit more
- 1:25:59on the left side of the board.
- 1:26:01He's going to be a little bit more on the right side
- 1:26:03of the board.
- 1:26:05He's going to be a little bit more on the left side
- 1:26:07of the board.
- 1:26:09Well then when he's both side on the third ball,
- 1:26:11it goes down a little bit.
- 1:26:13He went all the way down on one new left
- 1:26:15and missing that six.
- 1:26:26There's a strike.
- 1:26:28Yes, outside.
- 1:26:32Yes, that's the outside corner ball one,
- 1:26:34the fourth ball, the sixth.
- 1:26:51Well, he's going to be a good one there,
- 1:26:53the eighth one.
- 1:26:55This is outside ball five, the fourth one.
- 1:27:26There's a strike.
- 1:27:28He's going to be a high on the left, he's going to be a left.
- 1:27:30That's where that's not going to go.
- 1:27:32And it's in there for a home on for 50 Buccell.
- 1:27:35And the left is safe to lead.
- 1:27:38Just a five.
- 1:27:4750 Buccell, with this first major league home on the day.
- 1:27:50And it's down to the left here.
- 1:27:54Either way, 65 lead now here in the top of the fifth inning.
- 1:27:58With one out, nobody on and a batter Bobby Stans.
- 1:28:01Bobby's right, the right and one.
- 1:28:03So, two first today, Richardson's first major league home on,
- 1:28:07and now for Cell's third one.
- 1:28:09There's a pitch over strike one call.
- 1:28:13That ball was there by about three or four feet,
- 1:28:16just inside the power ball,
- 1:28:18under the lower left heel of the feet.
- 1:28:21Serve over strike two calls.
- 1:28:33Morgan in the wind up.
- 1:28:35Madam, Chris, hot bar, Eddie Yost going over the other stands.
- 1:28:39Make your pass, clean in the rest of the rally.
- 1:28:42Two ways.
- 1:28:53Bobby Richardson, we've had a perfect day of home run two singles.
- 1:28:56Living in the run, scored two at about him.
- 1:29:00Bobby's picked up 10 points in his batting over today, batting 284 now.
- 1:29:07It's the pitch inside ball one.
- 1:29:21One nothing fixed here, the ground ball is short,
- 1:29:24heel up with it, over the journey of inside to get Richardson.
- 1:29:29But the Aggies come back here in the top of the fifth inning,
- 1:29:32move ahead of the target with two on, two base fifths.
- 1:29:36No target errors and nobody left on base.
- 1:29:38The score at the end of five in the afternoon's a play.
- 1:29:41The Aggies six send the target five.
- 1:29:44Well, the Aggies five to the count on.
- 1:29:46I have moved out ahead of this tee-trop.
- 1:29:48I've gone six to five.
- 1:29:49The Tiger fans are going to the Tigers to the rally.
- 1:29:52So let's see what happens.
- 1:29:54Coupe veils like a golf strike, a curve ball,
- 1:29:57one of them is out of the play.
- 1:30:13One strike fifth, the ground right field,
- 1:30:16up in the F-A-6, far is left, up with the ball,
- 1:30:20heel around first and then holds on,
- 1:30:22and as he slices it's tail down the right field corner.
- 1:30:25That field second base hitters the ball again,
- 1:30:28and the second one holds Bobby Stanton.
- 1:30:31And it brings up Tom Morgan.
- 1:30:35It could be Morgan's first appearance
- 1:30:39at that four-foot back starter for the Tigers.
- 1:30:45The four-foot back went four innings.
- 1:30:52He'll be talking with Stanton and Morgan talking with Max Humphries.
- 1:30:57Down to 327, he's always been a fair-hitting victory.
- 1:31:00Five for eight, two, and two homies, and two runs,
- 1:31:03and it's out of there.
- 1:31:08There's the strike.
- 1:31:10Stanton is one of that in this strike one.
- 1:31:13Now it's back in the United States,
- 1:31:15and I hope there's a fair-time with the spot on the mound,
- 1:31:18Bobby Stanton, tough to sacrifice that run in the second.
- 1:31:22The only thing off the field is the stress.
- 1:31:34This is one of the all-inclusive ways of killing the first,
- 1:31:38and two hundred-plus players all have turned up with a tremendous play.
- 1:31:46Tom Morgan's done with the ball hard.
- 1:31:49All this time he's had his Bobby Stanton shoving in.
- 1:31:52It goes into the face-to-face.
- 1:31:55Then Stanton on, and Stanton after that ball,
- 1:31:59with two field-jocs in the second,
- 1:32:01Bobby goes to the ball, runs at it,
- 1:32:03and rolled it like it was all a bowling ball.
- 1:32:05A perfect strike it would have been had he been bowling to 50,
- 1:32:08but still he caught the ball with his foot on the bed,
- 1:32:11but the other side was in there ahead of the throw.
- 1:32:13And Silver Saga is threatening now,
- 1:32:17with singles back-to-back,
- 1:32:19and runners at first and second,
- 1:32:22and John Murphy is coming out to run for Tom Morgan.
- 1:32:26How do you like that? They let Morgan in with a loop,
- 1:32:29and then take him out for a run-up.
- 1:32:32Old Power Boy not too sweet of a foot.
- 1:32:37He's out of there, runners at first and second,
- 1:32:40and everybody out, the others are leading 65,
- 1:32:44within the bottom of the sixth,
- 1:32:46and there's any way to go to single, walk-in, basket short.
- 1:32:49Now they won't be able to definitely have to look for the puck,
- 1:32:51but he's out in 253.
- 1:32:57Now it's in the third, low-play is in the third.
- 1:33:00It's a set by Stanton.
- 1:33:02The pitch is low inside ball one,
- 1:33:04ball jumps out of the early throw,
- 1:33:06and it's out of the play. No advantage.
- 1:33:11That was a pretty slow to watch.
- 1:33:17Dan Scorsese not talking with 50 Bachelors shortstop.
- 1:33:24He wants to make sure Bachelors are moving towards second
- 1:33:27when he makes the pitch.
- 1:33:30He just wants to look at the baseball.
- 1:33:35He's a human.
- 1:33:37He'll throw it out of play. There's something on it
- 1:33:39that shouldn't be there. It gives you a new one.
- 1:33:45One ball, no strikes on you.
- 1:33:47You'll be running for Morgan at first,
- 1:33:49you'll go down at second.
- 1:33:53Won't be easily sixth foul on deck at Sally Maxwell.
- 1:34:01Here's a set.
- 1:34:0450, forth, two, three, nothing.
- 1:34:06He'll be set back and said,
- 1:34:08where was it? How? It's coming in from third,
- 1:34:09says where it was.
- 1:34:11And the only one not showing anything is Bobby Scann.
- 1:34:20Two balls, no strikes.
- 1:34:37Both lines made a way. Nobody out.
- 1:34:45And Scorsese.
- 1:34:50He's outside ball three, three and nothing.
- 1:34:53And the other was walking up on that pitch.
- 1:34:55He was not going to put the ball.
- 1:34:57And now Scann says, where's Cut-Out Swamp?
- 1:35:01You understand? If it's somebody who wants to stand in,
- 1:35:03somebody will warm up and he'll be both done.
- 1:35:09This is Stuck by Bobby.
- 1:35:11So the second is not quite in sign.
- 1:35:13The third is a little lower than that.
- 1:35:15There might have been a play.
- 1:35:17Two masters up in the empty bullpen.
- 1:35:21Here's the set.
- 1:35:23The pitch.
- 1:35:25Four four.
- 1:35:27And look, there's Bobby Argyll and here comes Stuck by Scann.
- 1:35:29And Stuck will be out of the ballgame.
- 1:35:31If he comes out any further, he'll be out of there.
- 1:35:33You might as giving him a place by not looking over there.
- 1:35:36Because the manager, or no one can out fire
- 1:35:39Argyll on a ball or a strike.
- 1:35:43If the manager comes out in six on the pitch,
- 1:35:46he's automatically out of the ballgame.
- 1:35:49Eddie Yolk gets his second one for the game.
- 1:35:52He loads the bases with nobody out here in the bottom of the pitch
- 1:35:55to score a shot.
- 1:35:57He wants you to leave in six to five.
- 1:36:00Stuck with him jumping out of the empty dugout.
- 1:36:02He's about four steps and suddenly realized
- 1:36:05that if he goes up to Argyll with Yomans,
- 1:36:08he will automatically be put out of the goal.
- 1:36:12Yolk is really kicking good around all places.
- 1:36:17Here's Charlie Maxwell who walks single-elefth
- 1:36:19and pops it at three, giving him two runs.
- 1:36:23In field bats and double-play depth,
- 1:36:25Maxwell is about in two forty-five.
- 1:36:30Here's the wind-up.
- 1:36:33The curve is over strike one star.
- 1:36:44On deck there's Harvey's pool without Taylor and a follow.
- 1:36:53Fast forward time, ball one, one to one.
- 1:37:09One ball, one strike, nobody out.
- 1:37:11Bases loaded.
- 1:37:13In the bottom of the pitch, the Argyll is leaving.
- 1:37:15Six to five.
- 1:37:24Here's the wind-up.
- 1:37:26The curve is over ironing it and that's the deep right field.
- 1:37:28Howard's going back, back and makes the catch.
- 1:37:31Here's the throw to the plate and he goes back.
- 1:37:34Man, he would have been a dead duck.
- 1:37:36He would have been out.
- 1:37:37He tried to score on that when he started to come in
- 1:37:39and Billy Hitchcock held him up and Howard made a perfect throw to the plate.
- 1:37:44After catching the ball in five firsts,
- 1:37:46he went halfway down the right field line.
- 1:37:48Well that's one away and here's Harvey's pool.
- 1:37:54He's flying to center and he's right three times on earth.
- 1:37:58That is three forty-four.
- 1:38:03Harvey cannot run too fast and his chances of getting three minutes of ball on the ground
- 1:38:08has got a good chance for the double-play.
- 1:38:12That score was a big man to get out of there.
- 1:38:22Alright, the base is still loaded.
- 1:38:24One away now.
- 1:38:26Won't you leave him six times.
- 1:38:31Here's the wind-up I've seen.
- 1:38:33Hitch is low, ball one.
- 1:38:36He's a good lord, he gets the hit one on the ground.
- 1:38:49He's right side, left hand is loosing up for the Tigers.
- 1:38:54Service, far on, in, right in the Tigers are down.
- 1:39:00He's really been pulling those curve balls.
- 1:39:07One on one to count.
- 1:39:22That's like one out.
- 1:39:33Here's the wind-up.
- 1:39:35Service, hop to the left and in, there's Dan Bessie's got it.
- 1:39:39Harvey's there, there's the flyer a little bit slow but Dan touches it anyway.
- 1:39:44Right by the pitcher's bunch for line number two and now all the sideline.
- 1:39:49No hit and no double-play, walk and try to let Aline Batten's do 38.
- 1:39:55Harvey's trying to pitch his way out of this game.
- 1:39:58The base is loaded and nobody out and got Max on a foul, pop out and Steve on a foul
- 1:40:03and a pop up to the mound.
- 1:40:05The pitch, ground ball is short, the quail, flip to the left, the center, Dan just out of the in-hole.
- 1:40:11Beautiful pitching, tremendous pitching.
- 1:40:15Can you imagine the base is loaded, nobody out and having the base Max well seen in four lines
- 1:40:21and keeping the Tigers in scoring.
- 1:40:25A tremendous exhibition of pitch by little Bobby Stan.
- 1:40:30So for the Tigers in the bottom of the sixth no-run, 2-0-5, no Yankee L-3 man left down base.
- 1:40:39Yankee's with Tigers will confer the 3-game series for the single game after scoring tomorrow afternoon.
- 1:40:45Yankee's got another week on there.
- 1:40:49Well Yankee will score, blank again 3-1, since our boys start down base after 30 days next week.
- 1:41:03Steve Brinkite is going to be the new Detroit pitcher as we go into the top of the seventh and ail of Yankee's leading 6-5
- 1:41:10on some brilliant pitching by Bobby Stan.
- 1:41:13He's got out of that in-hole after having the base is loaded and nobody out without the Tigers being able to score.
- 1:41:19Brinkite, formerly with the New York and San Francisco Giants, has had a little better luck today.
- 1:41:30He's had a little better luck this season, he could say, with the Tigers in the several years that he was with the Giants.
- 1:41:38Brinkite has been in two center now, has got slightly over 26th.
- 1:41:49Now Steve Brinkite will lead off as we go to the top of the seventh and a walk in and it's seen the lead game chance level drive.
- 1:42:04Brinkite says 6th, low outside 4-1.
- 1:42:23Big left-hander, the ball is hit, wow, down the left of the Atlanta going back out of play.
- 1:42:30Right 4-1-1, Brinkite is at 6-290 pounds, some will not tell a lie.
- 1:42:39Last year was with Phoenix in the Pacific Coast League, 111 or Spedin.
- 1:42:47This is 6th base, apparently, he has no wing in his notice, he's just a fourth appearance against Yankee.
- 1:42:56Here's the 116, a little bit low ball to the 2-1-1.
- 1:43:22There's half a lot of play on the upper deck.
- 1:43:30Going through the count on Steve Brinkite.
- 1:43:36The only plan today is, oh, down in the Aggie Bulls Center.
- 1:43:46What if somebody's needed, they'll come storming off here in a few days.
- 1:43:56There's a 2-2 pitch behind in a right field, Steve's coming on, makes it back right around his dump.
- 1:44:03Solid line drives the right one away.
- 1:44:18In the bunny, he's pushing up down in the Tiger Bulls Center.
- 1:44:23Here's the metal, Mickey was going out on strike, pops to the cap there and pops to the pitcher.
- 1:44:29Nick's batting 2-92, batting right handed now, takes it to the high ball one.
- 1:44:34He's batting left handed against Fort Satch and Morgan.
- 1:44:38Now batting right handed against the left hand to be Sunside.
- 1:44:48Mickey swings and misses his chance up 1-1.
- 1:45:00There's a fair throw to him, but now he's way out and not as timely as the North.
- 1:45:05Here's a double pump by Burnside.
- 1:45:09That's full hit on the ground, back handed by the pitcher.
- 1:45:12He goes under, handed down, he was finally getting out on the ball, that was a shot.
- 1:45:18Right back to the pitcher, put that glove up and stuff the center stuck right in there.
- 1:45:22Still out here, Yogi, Yogi, Rick's down there, that's double.
- 1:45:26He's got a batting score on any one, batting 2-77.
- 1:45:45Well, do my line here on the top of the center, Yogi's leading 6-5. There's a fast ball over strike 1-4.
- 1:46:11Nobody's allowed, nobody's allowed.
- 1:46:18He's 6 and delivers a turn of the Yogi's wings out of Memphis, like 2.
- 1:46:29Nothing else to do on Yogi.
- 1:46:39This side's 6-30, almost 1-2, but it was a low outside and held up 4-1, 1-2, 2-3.
- 1:47:02One ball, two strikes on Yogi.
- 1:47:09There's one on the ground, a first.
- 1:47:11Oh, Daniel's club out in the light field.
- 1:47:14Yogi runs first and holds on.
- 1:47:18They're set for Yogi.
- 1:47:35That's a 9-4 for the Yankees. That was kind of a gift for Yogi.
- 1:47:43Here's what the low fairs, the low fairs slide to left, double the right and head in with double play.
- 1:47:48That's about in 2-82.
- 1:47:51Here's the set.
- 1:47:55That's where the ground ball hit the short field coming in up with it.
- 1:47:59Go, go, bounce the first, just in time to get low fairs.
- 1:48:02A nice play by the shortstop.
- 1:48:05For the Yankees in the top of the 7th, no runs in one hit. No tagger there is one man left to score at the end of the half into play.
- 1:48:14The Yankees sit in the tagger's slot.
- 1:48:176-5. The Yankees leading lead to short taggers as we go to the bottom of the 7th inning.
- 1:48:23Bobby Stam.
- 1:48:26The goal is beautifully for Yogi 4th, the Wigwick, the 4th under the 1st inning.
- 1:48:33Let's pause here for space tonight under the cake. This is the almost champion's left work.
- 1:48:40At 14.60 am, the dial all over the New York where Yasi Baseball coming here with this afternoon,
- 1:48:47brought to you by Asylum Giant here today, allowing the Atlantic to be finding company.
- 1:48:51Say, Jim, before Yasi Baseball rounds up immediately following today's gas,
- 1:48:55you'll soon sort a single in the fifth, the best time it's about to drive in a run.
- 1:49:00And then the second inning you make two outs, you let off the inning, bouncing out the short.
- 1:49:04Then it's the inning, a time in which the bats bouncing to the picture.
- 1:49:10Red batting is 3-0-5.
- 1:49:17Jim Bonning is still loosening up for the Tigers.
- 1:49:23It's a curve foul over the roof and out of play down the left-bill line.
- 1:49:53Tonight is the wind up by 10.
- 1:49:56Best for it.
- 1:49:57High in the air, deep in the left-bill, way back at 20 now, and it's foul!
- 1:50:03Right behind it's foul!
- 1:50:06Holy cow, was that close to a Jimmy on the deck?
- 1:50:10And that must have been foul, foul, isn't it?
- 1:50:13From here it looked like it went in there and round the foul, but there was a bit of a screen on the foul ball.
- 1:50:18That's certainly about a foot in the fair territory and you never touched that.
- 1:50:22And then it's a great time for John Clarey to land here for Yadavesti around the ball house.
- 1:50:27Ball is foul, the ball is close.
- 1:50:34Almost died up the ball game.
- 1:50:38But it goes as along.
- 1:50:41Nothing in zero, I'm welcome.
- 1:50:47There he is, talking about his jump. Six feet up in the air, coaching his side.
- 1:50:52He's trying to potty in with that ball back in the fair territory.
- 1:51:03Two strike pitches, a little bit outside for one.
- 1:51:19One ball, two strikes, and I'm welcome.
- 1:51:21I do a special, leading off here in the bottom of the seven.
- 1:51:25Clarey is foul on a first base line, not done by all we long about coaching his first.
- 1:51:53And then ready, into the wind-up.
- 1:51:56He's taking the slow curve line, and that's kind of the other thing, just below.
- 1:52:01One wheel is pulling that back and he just reaches that out and soaks it over short in the left center field.
- 1:52:07Look at his second base, this.
- 1:52:11It's number four on the hand, hit number nine for the side, he's here coming up in the area.
- 1:52:16He's going to go left, line a third and pop to first.
- 1:52:27Come on Jack, head left field.
- 1:52:33We've got action in the empty ball for him, and Ryan Jordan gets up, that's flexing his muscles.
- 1:52:40Well, I'm here at the short center field, Richardson got Madeline Richardson waiting for us,
- 1:52:46and makes the catch in short center field for our number one.
- 1:52:52Head left field, head straight over the right, struck out and bounced into some of the play zone out by Jordan.
- 1:52:59Head left field, about in two sixty seven.
- 1:53:11One way, he's leading six five here in the bottom of the center.
- 1:53:21He takes the left field and curve a little bit low ball one.
- 1:53:45He's almost five times that field, head low to the first, straight, curve it one and miss strike one more time.
- 1:53:54Look at him and let's go to the fifth, put the fifth.
- 1:54:00That's a low feather, guarding the line at third base.
- 1:54:05Keep it playing deep in the left.
- 1:54:11Here's a stretch, low curve one and a miss strike two, and let's go way ahead of that one.
- 1:54:22One ball two strikes.
- 1:54:39Well, so would a short knee that first.
- 1:54:43There's a strike three, hit him down again.
- 1:54:50Like a strike off for a stand, and there was left field, we struck out before,
- 1:54:56where there was only two strike outs, there's up to zero, two to three,
- 1:55:00the single right field, the left field, the line, the right field, and the run, and the quarter run.
- 1:55:05The field's about in 294.
- 1:55:11Well, they're not up to get up in the tank of both right now.
- 1:55:17This is the field, it's a curve off, it's like one call.
- 1:55:24The front side is due to be the next batter, they'll build it on, they'll put in a 10-fitter,
- 1:55:28so they want to get now, let's see what he's...
- 1:55:34Right there, there's a 10-fitter, ball one, one, one.
- 1:55:54One ball one strikes two out.
- 1:56:03The left field, they're going to run a third low field, right field, right down the next floor.
- 1:56:07Wilson's on a second, living with the third, and there's on a second floor,
- 1:56:11there's on a second, he's rising, he's in there.
- 1:56:15And that'll be a narrow shot to Hector Lopez, and the target's now half-one and a second,
- 1:56:20and third on some heads-up face running by both Red Wilkin and Foothield.
- 1:56:27And now by Hector Lopez, and that's the empty third L of the ball game.
- 1:56:32And Johnny Groce is coming up now to bat four-feet front side.
- 1:56:42Johnny Groce, right-hand hitting off, he'll come down to bat four front side,
- 1:56:47the target's now the bang-runner's third, and the shot's breaking on down a second.
- 1:56:53The both spouting two-hated in and a seven-doubles, one-triple, one-hom and nine-runs,
- 1:56:57the shot's broken in. Johnny broke in at a big lead, right here at the foot.
- 1:57:03Here comes Baby Sandal, and it looks like Foothield might want his fireball
- 1:57:08or any of that to come on right now. Let's see what happens.
- 1:57:14He's got Baby Sandal going out to the mound,
- 1:57:23talking with Bobby Sandal and Yogi. Jordan is still warming up,
- 1:57:28he's getting ready down the ball front, blazing that ball in there.
- 1:57:35See what decision-making comes to, he's looking down towards the ball front.
- 1:57:40And it doesn't look good for Sandal.
- 1:57:43He's staying in, and he signals for the ball front, he wants line-jointed.
- 1:57:50And the ball's going to have made his move.
- 1:57:54Line-jointed comes in.
- 1:58:04So Bobby...
- 1:58:13Sandal's given up just four hits, walks through, look out through, he's allowed one run so far,
- 1:58:23but works in a third and feels down a second,
- 1:58:26Bobby's responsibility, leaves the field, and line-jointed comes down and takes over.
- 1:58:33There's just a total of five innings.
- 1:58:53Line-Jointed has come on and Johnny Groce with schedule of the leaders out,
- 1:59:03it might be taken out of there, we see Gail Harris coming up with a couple of facts,
- 1:59:07and Gail Harris is coming up to bat for Johnny Groce.
- 1:59:11A third-center, fourth-center.
- 1:59:18Johnny Groce was announced as the batter for a deep run, but in my case he said it was quick.
- 1:59:24From a left-hand foot to a right-hand foot, then he's right-foot, then his right-hand foot,
- 1:59:28then he said it was a left-hand foot, then he said it was.
- 1:59:33And as he's playing with the center-hand...
- 1:59:52...and he's starting 181.
- 2:00:04That's three-doubles, two-touples, seven-homers.
- 2:00:1021-1 is about it in.
- 2:00:18He's won one and lost two, but he saved 11 ball games for the Yankees, and that's mighty important.
- 2:00:23He left the lead on July 22nd at Cleveland.
- 2:00:27It's really giving us two hits and one line.
- 2:00:30Let's look at four.
- 2:00:35Gail is ready to go here in the bottom of the seven.
- 2:00:37Two-minute round, runners for second and third, Yankees lead six-five.
- 2:00:41Gail has a starting fourth down and growth.
- 2:01:00Gail takes plenty of time before he gets ready on the left.
- 2:01:21Here's the wind after six, six times four and one.
- 2:01:31Yankees ready to go.
- 2:01:52It's low ball two, two and a half.
- 2:02:08Two balls, no strikes, two outs.
- 2:02:10Red Wilson leading with two, Gail, a second.
- 2:02:19The left pitch is low outside ball three, three and a half.
- 2:02:40Three balls, no strikes on the pitch, and a Gail harrow.
- 2:02:48The same for the side. Here's a big wind up.
- 2:02:51The pitch is slight one call.
- 2:02:53That's four down and a little.
- 2:03:13Now let's see if they're loosing up for the tighter.
- 2:03:17The wind up, I turn. The pitch is a line.
- 2:03:19So close up a little.
- 2:03:21That's not close, and then hit the field.
- 2:03:23That's not going to be a foul.
- 2:03:24That's not going to be a foul.
- 2:03:27Seven, six, seven.
- 2:03:29Howdy, I like those apples.
- 2:03:34Gail has a nice little, and a pink dip.
- 2:03:40Nice little mill.
- 2:03:41And there's a ten and eight of them stairs in there.
- 2:03:43With the same side ball, that was fifty-four.
- 2:03:46The only difference was that Jordan jumps up in the air a little bit
- 2:03:49to get out of the way where he can, and gets right down in front of him.
- 2:03:52Once he's stopped the big man and moves, both those runs are shot to Bobby Stens.
- 2:04:00And the bag is now at least seven and six in the bottom of the center,
- 2:04:04with two out in the batter area of Yosha.
- 2:04:06Yosha, single walk, twice in the mountain short.
- 2:04:09There's a six.
- 2:04:11Six is over sight one claw, at about in two fifty-three.
- 2:04:30Big set by Jordan.
- 2:04:42There's a six.
- 2:05:00The two-side six is a curve a little bit outside of ball one.
- 2:05:22There's a set.
- 2:05:38And the pitch is six-three claw.
- 2:05:42There he goes, caught looking.
- 2:05:45What the bag is to come back here at the bottom of the seventh is caught
- 2:05:48on two-side six, one right in the air, and one man left on base.
- 2:05:55That makes the score here in the seventh for the knee.
- 2:05:57The tag is seven runs on ten hits in one hour.
- 2:06:00The answer is six runs on nine hits and three hours.
- 2:06:07A while in the Willie Ball game, it has seen the lead stand down several times,
- 2:06:11and now it's run back into choice-saver.
- 2:06:14The tag is leading seven to six, as well, and now left he comes on to fifth in the eighth inning.
- 2:06:20The fourth I started this one for, the choice I did.
- 2:06:26He was knocked out of there.
- 2:06:29Now Morgan Timlons tries for ten-hitters.
- 2:06:34Turnside and now left he's working with one-hundred.
- 2:06:40The pitch to Elf and now it is high and inside, ball one.
- 2:06:44Now left he with a four-and-ten record.
- 2:06:55Inside, ball two, two balls and no strikes, but down on Elf and now.
- 2:07:02Bonnie Stilts and Bob Smith form me up for the tag.
- 2:07:08He's fixed his highest-side ball three.
- 2:07:19Clearing up here on Elston Howard, Howard's off a three-finger-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty-thirty.
- 2:07:30First ball is over, strike one call. Elston Howard's adding two-sixty.
- 2:07:47He had one to count. B-one fixed his. Bob's fouled on the right field line out of play. Full count on Elston. In the upper deck.
- 2:08:06Now left he goes to the housing bag.
- 2:08:16Here's the playoff pitch. He drives the deep right field way back there. He's back to the wall.
- 2:08:23He almost got a foul. He almost made a great play, but Howard's in a second base with a double.
- 2:08:28Ooh, out of play that would have been.
- 2:08:31Harvey C went back as far as he could, as high as he could. Got his 12 on the ball.
- 2:08:36That's it from going over to short-center on his field for a whole run and almost fell down with it for a sensational set, but it goes as a double for Elston Howard.
- 2:08:46The deep right field.
- 2:08:54Altholder is going out to run for Howard and he'll be reigning the ball game to play first base.
- 2:09:14He's fouled about it. Had a little stack with Frank Cicetti and now power steps in on about it's boss.
- 2:09:28Altholder's second base.
- 2:09:45He's got 50 percent of master's yard, top to third, and then hit a certain major lead home run in the left field.
- 2:09:59He's hit the corner down to third base line, but it goes. Fair ball, thought the first two left. How did he lose up that ball was going to go foul, and stood in fouls so he caught the ball.
- 2:10:15A break for the hand is a base hit for Petrie Bricel on a one-single to third base. That ball was up around Bricel's eyes when he punted it. Now it stays there. I'll never know.
- 2:10:29He had about three inches in fair territory, three quarters of the way down to third base line. On the second bounce it still stays there.
- 2:10:36He had this way to be forethawing the swing, and that's what allowed Bricel to beat it up. Here's Deena's score at batting for Ryan Juner.
- 2:10:46That's the enormous stretch position. There goes Bricel. The ball is in high fair to set it up. That'll be deep enough to allow Stornberg to score.
- 2:10:54K-line makes the catch. The throw of the plate won't be near, and Stornberg comes across easily, standing up the ball cut out by two fields. Well, it comes through with a sacrifice, slide a center, and a score stacked.
- 2:11:09Once again, seven and seven, two outs. Here's Bobby Richardson, who was home this single twice in a bout to short.
- 2:11:16Richardson batting 283.
- 2:11:38AC Hillinghead, Hancliffe, ready for the third. Goal gets to the end. Bricel is first. Seven to score here in the bottom of the batting.
- 2:11:53Here's the stretch finality. This is a ground ball. Nice play by Yoast over the Harrison side for the out. A hard hit ball. Yoast goes down on both knees to come up with it.
- 2:12:0840 Yankees in the top of the eight, they try to score on one run. Two bases. No stagger errors. One man left to score at the end of seven and a half ends the play.
- 2:12:17They end with seven and a stagger at seven. So we go into the Grand Ravalier inning with the ball game tied up at seven and seven.
- 2:12:27Here's the ball club. This way today, one of them particularly wanted to win the ball game, but these have the ball clubs in Lincoln. And if Yoast has that ball go far, as it appeared to be surely going to do,
- 2:12:48those errors set up the two runs that would have scored on Dale Howard's ring door. What's going to happen if we stay right out of the case?
- 2:12:58All Yankee baseball games are brought to you by Ballantyne here in A.L. and Atlantic gasoline on WLK0146 beyond your radio dial.
- 2:13:07Don't forget to watch the video that's dropped up with Jim Lane. Don't follow today's case.
- 2:13:22He's probably going to score fifty now. The arrival of Jim Lane in the ball game.
- 2:13:41The Moky Max Square leads off as we go to the Grand Ravalier. Max 12 is about in 244.
- 2:14:06He'll start to pitch until Max 12's time is called. I don't know whether I have to pitch enough. There's another one of those rubber balls thrown down.
- 2:14:14Here we'll pitch it up and score it in the Yankee dugout.
- 2:14:21I don't believe that was any pitch. The ball was almost on its way. Just that left shoot monster's hand when the ball hit on the windspear and some home place makes you mind the outtime.
- 2:14:30No pitch. So we do it all over again.
- 2:14:37The Valley Max Square leading off to the Tigers here in the bottom of the air.
- 2:14:46I'll pitch the curve high ball once.
- 2:15:06One ball, no strikes on Max 12.
- 2:15:13The serve is low ball still soon.
- 2:15:30I'll be clear on deck without K-line to follow.
- 2:15:44Here's the windup I do. Two nothings said. She is outside low ball three.
- 2:16:00Here's the three nothings delivering.
- 2:16:15Max will launch in four straight pitches.
- 2:16:20I'll be clear on the game of the center. He takes me twice on errors and then pops it a-pitch it. Jim Brown's set us up in the Yankee both ends.
- 2:16:32Here's the strike by Max.
- 2:16:35Jim Brown's set us up in the Yankee both ends.
- 2:16:51He's outside 7-7 here in the bottom of the eighth inning. Nobody out Max will lead your first base.
- 2:17:06The ball is hit on the ground all the low pressure's head and it won't be a chance for a player in any case.
- 2:17:22The ball is hit on the ground all the way to the center.
- 2:17:37He's standing outside the batter's box looking at Billy Hitchcock's third base coach.
- 2:17:46Yogi out to the mound to talk with Drew Mott. Brown's set leading up real fast. Max for the second. Two in his first.
- 2:18:10Jim the Yankee infield has to look for the ball. Here's the strike. But he swings away and missed the strike.
- 2:18:18He's trying to slap it over the phone but he's had the swing at a bad ball.
- 2:18:23Now he's stepped back out of the box looking at Hitchcock. See if there's a chance of turning.
- 2:18:36One strike on K-line.
- 2:18:46This is one of down-to-side-base-bass. It's a fourth play from one to five. Mott got off that mound real quick and fired the low pressure.
- 2:19:11Olinus first. There's one away and here's Red Wilkin. Wilkin basket short hit back to the box.
- 2:19:18He's going to score one. That's 3-11. One away.
- 2:19:436 seconds. K-line is first. Fourth from the batter. 4-9-7-7 bottom of the eighth.
- 2:19:50There's his low ball one. He'll pass working very slow and easy. He'll have to be very careful.
- 2:20:11Here's the strike. He's on deck. Here's the strike.
- 2:20:21Low curve hit on the ground. It's short. Short pass to Richardson for one. No chance for a double play.
- 2:20:29Moving to third base with Marvy King. Now it's run as a first and third and two outs.
- 2:20:43Ray Noleski is due to be the next batter. Let's see what happens.
- 2:20:48Lally Osborn is coming on. Lally Osborn, that's Dan hitting third base. He'll bat for Noleski.
- 2:21:00Lelski was batting in just there in your place. Dan to line up. Osborn is batting 2-15. He has 6-3-11. 16 runs about it in.
- 2:21:23He's third. Wilkin is first with 2 outs and the bottom of the eighth court, 9-7-7.
- 2:21:36Osborn will have Dan hit her. Stoked up in a bad little bit. Where's Glacier?
- 2:21:45Here's the strike by Duke Mont. He goes around and the ball is fouled. What a jump Wilkin has.
- 2:21:55Brumbary not holding a mind. What a real good jump.
- 2:22:21One strike on Osborn. Brumbary holding the board a little closer now. That's right on the bat with different bats.
- 2:22:32Here's the strike. Low-curve is one and a missed strike two.
- 2:22:53Nothing in through the count. Two outs. Two men on. Court 5-7-7.
- 2:23:08Duke presses. Third, five-six now. He's out. Wait a minute. Lally Osborn is hit the ground. Let's go to the umpire.
- 2:23:18He's hit the ground. He's picked it up. He's not out. Wait a minute. Let's see if he's...
- 2:23:30He got it. Wilkin's caught it on the first half. He's hit the ball, hit the ground, and Wilkin's hit it quick.
- 2:23:37He's found the umpire. He's hit the ball. He's hit the ball. He's hit the ground. He's hit the ground.
- 2:23:54Look at the night. The wholelek is on average. The wholekれて in cuando he went off the field. The logo goes out there.
- 2:24:10He's jumping in two on us one.
- 2:24:21We're ready to go again. Red Wilson is first base.
- 2:24:23He's got a big lead. He'll feel stuck in it.
- 2:24:25Someone better doesn't come in back of him.
- 2:24:28He is at third.
- 2:24:35He's not that determined to go.
- 2:24:37He's a threat.
- 2:24:39He's going to go and he goes.
- 2:24:41The ball is far back just to all right out of play.
- 2:24:48Nothing in through the top.
- 2:24:50Wilson is going to be down there at third base.
- 2:25:00He's going to be playing real deep on the edge of the outfield grass.
- 2:25:11Wilson will be going again. Here's a threat.
- 2:25:15There he goes.
- 2:25:17There he goes.
- 2:25:20He's going to put down a third base line.
- 2:25:22Lopez travels the ball.
- 2:25:24He's going to be here.
- 2:25:26And one positive five is Fessaliz.
- 2:25:28Holy cow. Another Eric.
- 2:25:30Josh Therianke.
- 2:25:36And off there is the Lopez.
- 2:25:38That was a tough chance because I was born.
- 2:25:40He was off the end of his bat and the ball was spinning.
- 2:25:42Just as he got the heck out of it.
- 2:25:44He pulled up his arm and he couldn't make a play.
- 2:25:50He was on a score.
- 2:25:55Wilson moved to second base.
- 2:25:57I was born safe at first base.
- 2:25:59And here's Therianke.
- 2:26:01Let's see how single struck out twice and hit in front of the place.
- 2:26:05One for four.
- 2:26:07That's him two.
- 2:26:08Fifty four.
- 2:26:10The Tigers lead eight seven out.
- 2:26:12Lopez passes out. Pitch it up.
- 2:26:14He's trying to get Osborne's sliding in.
- 2:26:17They're giving him a lot of time to serve.
- 2:26:21So the Tigers break the ice here in the bottom of the eighth.
- 2:26:24One run.
- 2:26:26On one base fifth.
- 2:26:28One Yankee error. Two men left on base.
- 2:26:30The score at the end of eighths.
- 2:26:32The Tigers eighth.
- 2:26:34And the Yankees seventh.
- 2:26:43Going now into the top of the ninth tonight.
- 2:26:45The Yankees made a run to try.
- 2:26:48The ball game is 10-10 four or five times today.
- 2:26:53The Tigers got a four to one lead in one point.
- 2:26:56The Yankees tied it up.
- 2:26:58The Tigers went ahead. The Yankees went ahead.
- 2:27:00And now, as we told them tonight, Bob Smith has come on to try to preserve the one run lead for the Detroit Tigers.
- 2:27:14R.C. Bob Smith, six one hundred ninety five pounds from Woodville, New Hampshire.
- 2:27:23Taking his seventh to penalty here, he's one run and lost one.
- 2:27:26Smith was sold on waivers on June 13th by the Pirates to the Tigers.
- 2:27:37So the Yankees lead is one run to get back in this ball game.
- 2:27:40They serve eight to seven.
- 2:27:51Bob Smith will be pitching to Norm Seabin.
- 2:27:54Leading off here in the top of the ninth inning.
- 2:28:00Even as walking back towards the Yankees dugout, we might have a think-hitter here.
- 2:28:08The Moose don't come to challenge the batting practice. He could be coming out.
- 2:28:13And so it is Bill Schauer and he's coming out.
- 2:28:17The Moose is coming out to bat for Norm Seabin.
- 2:28:24Schauer took batting practice before the game.
- 2:28:31And they thought he might play tomorrow, but here they're using him a day early.
- 2:28:36Bill Schauer batting for Norm Seabin.
- 2:28:38Seabin had a clutch double in the fifth inning, driving him two runs.
- 2:28:47Schauer batting two 99s, fifteen doubles.
- 2:28:50Five triples, fifteen homers and fifty nine runs, batting in.
- 2:28:57Moose loosens up a little bit at the plate.
- 2:29:01The left hander, Bob Smith on the mound already.
- 2:29:03The wind-up that hits the scound is a curved high ball one.
- 2:29:09Moose using a little of Rocky's Colovito technique.
- 2:29:12Puts the bat over his children's pitches.
- 2:29:14The left hand Moose played was on July of eleven.
- 2:29:18He has a fast ball, over strike one call.
- 2:29:21He was against the Boston Reds on the upper part of the mound.
- 2:29:33One, one, the con is scow and here's the wind-up.
- 2:29:35The pitch is fouled and he lets over his bat and goes past third base.
- 2:29:40The ball was fouled back against the screen for strike two and scow and let's go over his bat.
- 2:29:44They said he's running it back to him now.
- 2:29:46One ball, two strikes on the Moose.
- 2:29:53Now let's go over his bat earlier today.
- 2:29:55He went right in the time to dug out but either he nor scow and do that very often.
- 2:30:07One ball, two strikes, this is shot three, scow and swing and let's go over the bat.
- 2:30:13Red high ball, scow and strike, start swinging.
- 2:30:29There's Mickey Mantle, Mickey's over four today.
- 2:30:32He's dug down, popped to the catcher, popped to the pitcher and hit back to the box.
- 2:30:36The next batting is two ninety-one.
- 2:30:38Tigers are leading eight to seven.
- 2:30:40We're in the top of the ninth inning.
- 2:30:45This pitch to Mantle is high outside ball one.
- 2:30:48The wind up the pitch to Mickey, slow curve is over strike one ball, one on one to count.
- 2:31:18Here's the wind up and the one one six, there's a low of ball two, two and one.
- 2:31:37Let's take off a couple of scines, still take off another one.
- 2:31:41Now he's got the scion, here's the wind up.
- 2:31:43Red ball is hit slowly out towards third, he's going to have to hustle and get Mickey.
- 2:31:48Yo, so I'm scoring safety, see it out, what a play, Yo's made, he's dealing the ball bare hand.
- 2:31:53So it's not the way he's done getting it out of his glove, it was a hard hopper.
- 2:31:57And Mantle beats it out for an infield single, boy did he fly down that line.
- 2:32:03Mickey Mantle hit a high shot round ball over the pitcher's box and Yo's flew in the course and third base.
- 2:32:09He grabbed it in the air with his bare hand and swam it at the same second but Mickey beat it out.
- 2:32:14That brings up Yo's be better, Yo's reach down an arrow, double, walks and single a right.
- 2:32:21Yo's be starting to do 80.
- 2:32:2387 the Tigers lead, we're on the top of the ninth one out, Mantle looks first.
- 2:32:39Here's the stretch, the fifth Yo's be hit, he's the last field where he's gone, that one's down and the lefties go out in front.
- 2:32:51Now he's got four out of four game business there.
- 2:32:54Yo's be better, comes through with a home arm, one out.
- 2:33:00Here on the top of the ninth inning and puts the answers ahead, now he's...
- 2:33:05Mickey Mantle hustling down the first beat out an infield single and Bob Smith is kicking his head out in the mountains through Yo's be a high fastball.
- 2:33:16I don't know what they could have been thinking about throwing Yo's be a high fastball in this part.
- 2:33:20He's building in the upper deck in right field.
- 2:33:25Yo's be better, comes through with his 12th home of the year, RBIs number 38 and 39 and the Yankees lead 9-8.
- 2:33:31That's the low-play, takes the big tie, ball one.
- 2:33:35Low-play, fly to left, double the right, hit into a double play and bounce the short, about in 281.
- 2:33:44There's a result, like one call, one on one, McDonnell.
- 2:33:49Four out of four game business, the Yankees lead them the Tigers and they tied it up, the Tigers went ahead, the Yankees went ahead, the Tigers went ahead, the Yankees went ahead.
- 2:34:01Serve outside, four, two, two and one.
- 2:34:05Two, one, take the high outside, ball three, three and one.
- 2:34:36The three-one pitch is over the outside corner, both down on low-play.
- 2:34:52The payoff pitch is a ground ball in the hole, deal back in, is it? A long shot of first.
- 2:34:58In time, they got low-play, a nice play by Ville and Yale Harris on a ball cloning the dirt, that's two out.
- 2:35:06And as Mark Thornberry comes to the plate, we'll pause for station identification.
- 2:35:13All Yankee baseball games are brought to you by a thousand times here in Ayl and at Landed gasoline by WLK01460 on your radio dial.
- 2:35:22Stay tuned after the game for generator and the throwing you a ground ball.
- 2:35:29The best pitch to Thornberry is high inside ball one.
- 2:35:33Thornberry went in to run for Elston Howard and stayed in the ball game.
- 2:35:42Two out, Yankees lead nine eight.
- 2:35:45Take the Thornberry, high ball three, two and one.
- 2:36:04Two and one, nothing else Thornberry.
- 2:36:07Fifty strike one, somebody went for a low outside fair didn't get it. Longs about in 186.
- 2:36:23Listen to the wind up. Fifty-five is right of a plate like two.
- 2:36:28High is a school field, Yale Harris and Odeon Yolk coming up to that.
- 2:36:41Two ball three strikes two out.
- 2:36:58There's a two-two delivery.
- 2:37:00There it is, over strike three call.
- 2:37:03Look, Yankees come through with two big runs on two hits.
- 2:37:10No tag-a is nobody left to score.
- 2:37:12The end of eight and a half innings of play.
- 2:37:14Yankees nine runs thirteen hits and four hours.
- 2:37:17The tag is eight runs eleven hits and one hour.
- 2:37:20Honour the life in England, Yankees at least momentarily on top nine to eight.
- 2:37:24The first strike is a curve, a blow, a wall-walk.
- 2:37:36Nobody losing this ball then.
- 2:37:40They colluded their feet.
- 2:37:47Wind up by Mars.
- 2:37:49The first ball is in there, strike one call, one-on-one account.
- 2:37:55Pass into the wind up.
- 2:37:57Here's the ball up first.
- 2:37:59Ground ball hits the side, low-face charging in.
- 2:38:02Up at the ball, place the first.
- 2:38:04It's a wild slow going down a right-field line and down in a great-for-straighted second.
- 2:38:10And the other down at second base.
- 2:38:13What's gone is really hurt as he reached out for that throw, Gale allotted with Golems.
- 2:38:21And maybe it's this white thin his first base was thrown out a second on a head-to-head play by Bobby Richardson.
- 2:38:31And it just marks the end of the...
- 2:38:34So Gale is out of there, let's see if that's another error.
- 2:38:47Gale is out at second base, that's another error.
- 2:38:54Starts to heck the low-face, but the play goes from four to six, getting Ville.
- 2:38:59Gale Blanchett is going to the head-on to left field and Moss-Somberg will be playing first base.
- 2:39:10I do hope the moosh isn't hurt seriously.
- 2:39:12Well, I like this having a rough day at third.
- 2:39:43Moss continues to warm up during the Yogi Bear.
- 2:39:50Ville hit that high half of the third and low-face, feeling it quickly.
- 2:39:55Tired it wild as first, but Gale took two wild turns and the ball bounced off the side of the wall right back to Bobby Richardson with perfect throw to Bracel.
- 2:40:06Yep, Gale sliding in.
- 2:40:08That brings up Gale Harris, one time at best, he has a single ascent of driving in two runs.
- 2:40:16Harris sliding 186.
- 2:40:18Wow.
- 2:40:20I do want ready out of the mound.
- 2:40:27The kick to Harris is a curved low ball one on Dec. Yogi.
- 2:40:32I don't know what else that happened in this ball game.
- 2:40:36One ball, no side.
- 2:40:52Service foul to the right of home base side 111.
- 2:41:12Front step to warming up in the Yogi ball game.
- 2:41:26Moss over to the rosin bag.
- 2:41:32Now he's ready, here's the 116, low curve, high inside ball to the soon one.
- 2:41:46Two balls, one side, one out, nobody on.
- 2:41:58The wind up by Duke, he serves his outside ball three, three and one.
- 2:42:12Three balls, one side, now it's out.
- 2:42:27That's Dan hitting first base with Gale Harris, sliding in.
- 2:42:32Three one-click, hit off the plate down the first base line mark.
- 2:42:36Left the pass and he goes foul, that's a good thing he did, he couldn't throw them out.
- 2:42:40There's another one off the plate, Gale hit one off the plate, that would trouble.
- 2:42:43Harris pass one off the plate, that just did six foul after hitting in fair territory.
- 2:42:48Both out now on Harris, three balls, two strikes, one out.
- 2:42:52He's leading, nine eight, we're in the bottom of the ninth.
- 2:42:58Two to a battle all the way, three four and three and two to lead and the other.
- 2:43:17Three and two to count on Gale Harris, this will be the playoff pitch.
- 2:43:30Duke, get out of the wind up, playoff pitch is, hop to the left side of the third, going back into the tens and out of play.
- 2:43:41Throw the count hole, the three balls and two strikes.
- 2:43:55There he goes, conjecture.
- 2:44:06Three to six, there's a curve hit down the first base line and kicking foul.
- 2:44:14Harris, boiling the pitchers.
- 2:44:34Two strikes one out.
- 2:44:37He's leading here again tomorrow afternoon.
- 2:44:48There's a press, he's got both walks forward, he lost them.
- 2:44:54Harris walks, second walk given up by Mark, he's walking up and down the dugout.
- 2:45:00And the battle will be there to go, a single walk twice, bounce the short and suck out.
- 2:45:05Harris, I didn't see fifty-two.
- 2:45:26There he goes, he's in the batter's box.
- 2:45:31There he is, low ball one.
- 2:45:49He thought on both downs, he's got a dislocated bone on his wrist, one bone was over the other, that's Mark's, he's in, he's got the bone back in place, they put the arm in the front and they put him into a hospital for SRA.
- 2:46:00Fifty-ohs first, inside walk two, two and another.
- 2:46:09I'm just going to make sure, one out.
- 2:46:24Mark's throwing the holding first against jail, Harris.
- 2:46:29The entry is narrow, I'm going to try to hit him at the bottom of the knife.
- 2:46:39There's a check, fifty-ohs, there's over strike one car, two balls one strike.
- 2:46:55Two balls one strike, one out.
- 2:47:01Fifty-ohs, outside ball three, three and one.
- 2:47:15Three and one to count.
- 2:47:29There's a stretch, the first two is over strike two, well now we've got a three-two down, they'll be sending that runner.
- 2:47:36They'll be out of a double play, three balls, two strikes, one out. See how Harris's first take will be off with the second.
- 2:47:54Harris is straight by Mark, Harris leading away, there he goes, the ball is fouled back out of play.
- 2:48:09Harris is out of the second, Harris is out of the third.
- 2:48:28Ready for the three-three test, you ready, Harris? Harris with a good size lead off first, the stretch, there goes the runner, the pitch is far far down, the right field line serves as far back into the stands out of play.
- 2:48:49Lots of excitement in the ball game, a long ball game it is, that's three hours and fifteen minutes old right now.
- 2:49:12Loops, dropping up the new ball, goes to the Rajen Bay, un-standing Bradley now, most of the clouds are, breeze by over there, a lot of blue up there.
- 2:49:29Harris leads off first, there's the stretch, there he goes, the curve is fouled right over the tiger dugout back into the stands.
- 2:49:45Harris, ready, guarding the plate, they're too close to the stage, he'll be loosening up and throwing on, just in case he has to throw the second, swinging it around, and Brown says still loosening up on the empty bullseye.
- 2:50:06Harris, the pitch is a curve, he's strike three, he's trying to check if he didn't, and he goes strike down on a real bad pitch, very stubbornly he goes through that.
- 2:50:19It was high and inside, he tried to check it, swinging couldn't do it, and that brings up Dolly Maxwell, who has walked right single, popped to the catcher, popped to first.
- 2:50:38Harris, hit first base, oh, I said he goes one after that, the trick was up in his eyes.
- 2:50:51Alright, two away, here's the stretch by Mars, hit to Maxwell at outside ball one. Don't worry, I'm not playing way back at third base, I'm not holding Harris too close.
- 2:51:11I just must have figured something that time, they didn't have Harris running when you struck out, serve outside ball two, two and nothing.
- 2:51:35Two balls, no strike, two outs, run to the first base, here's Harris.
- 2:51:46Run to the top, warming up to watch this, here's the stretch, this is on the outside corner strike one call, two balls one strike at half.
- 2:52:15Here's the stretch by Duke, this is outside ball three, three and one, and if he walks next, well he'll put the tang run down to second base, I'll be seeing the next batter.
- 2:52:37Take the move, don't worry, he's deep ahead at first base.
- 2:52:45Here's the stretch, the stretch is outside ball four, he wants him, the tang run and moves down to second base, here's Harris next, well it's at first with two outs, and a batter Harvey too.
- 2:52:59Here's one for five, he's by the center, he's first on Harris plate, after the picture indeed on an infield single, about in three forty four.
- 2:53:08And here's nine in the tag of the, well this has been one of the wildest and weirdest ones we've had all year.
- 2:53:21Here's Harris, he's off second, he's got him at full off first.
- 2:53:31Here's the stretch, this is a curve outside ball one, he'll step back, second is there again, but it was a strike.
- 2:53:41And here comes Casey Sengel out, Casey Sengel coming out of the Yankee dugout.
- 2:53:52Let's see what the old professor has on his mind, he wants Yogi out now, so Yogi walks out to the mound.
- 2:54:02This has really been a wild ball game, the Yankee scored in the very first inning when Richardson unloaded a homer at First May Galeigh's homer.
- 2:54:11Then the Yankee came back with four in a second inning, ten men went to that, the Yankee came back with one on the top of the fourth,
- 2:54:22and two on the top of the fifth, the Yankee came back with one on the bottom of the fifth, the Yankee came back with two more on the top of the fifth,
- 2:54:30the Yankee came back with two on the bottom of the seventh, the Yankee had one on the top of the eighth, the Yankee came up with two on the top of the ninth,
- 2:54:38and they leave nine to eight, playing the bottom of the ninth with two outs,
- 2:54:42the runners at first and second in the battle hardy scene, rather than one ball, no strike, huh?
- 2:55:06Now to run us red or first second, here's the stretch, the catch is a curved low inside ball two, two or nothing.
- 2:55:24Two balls, no strikes and two outs, two men on.
- 2:55:36The Injection fan, rather than a mass ejection fan, it got me all upset. Inside almost 15, ball three, then that was close.
- 2:55:55I do catch the sign from Yogi, here's the stretch, a three nothing catch, strike one call, three and one to count,
- 2:56:17two taking all the way.
- 2:56:32There's Harrods leading off second, nobody bothering with him, nice little off first, strike two, full count on game,
- 2:56:48and now the runners will be off with the six, three balls, two strikes, two outs, the Yankee's getting nine eight and the bottom of the ninth.
- 2:57:03There's the stretch, the pay off set, there's Mayan's side ball for him, almost hit him, and the bases are loaded.
- 2:57:12Marth has won three men in a inning, Yankee's got a breakwind on low pressure,
- 2:57:19and the El Chino advance to second was thrown out by Bobby Richardson, but they don't really have themselves in any.
- 2:57:25The bases are loaded, there are two outs, the Yankee's being nine eight, well in the bottom of the ninth, there's out-sailings,
- 2:57:32so it's all for four, and here's the safety center that Marth is out of the ball game, that's all for Marth.
- 2:57:53Duke has said just an inning and two-thirds, but they've been alone inning and two-thirds, I said it, and Jim Vonsetter's coming on,
- 2:58:08bringing this youngster on in quite a spot, bases loaded two outs and facing Al Cailine,
- 2:58:20and while they're huddling on and on, it's a good time to pause for a station identification.
- 2:58:28All Yankee Bay ball games are brought to you by Balancine, here in Ayland at Lander-Gathaline in the capital district over WLK01460 on your radio time.
- 2:58:37They're doing for a story viewing roundup following today's game.
- 2:58:52That's it. And it's safety leaves, he gets the hustle time, let's go get him. Oh, this has been a heck of a ball game, man, the Yankee's have committed five errors,
- 2:59:07the Fag is up committed one, Fag has had so many chances to break the ball game open, but couldn't come through with that one base hit or long fire at the right time.
- 2:59:18Meanwhile, the Yankee's have taken advantage of almost all their scoring opportunities.
- 2:59:23They haven't left more than one man on base in any inning.
- 2:59:33And Baltimore, Chicago having a battle, built side to two in the 12th, leaving one there for an H01.
- 2:59:43The 70's, the Cincinnati's, 6-3, the walkie-chut-out, the pilot's 3-0 and the Cubs lead the game to one at the end of the prize.
- 2:59:52Boston's at Kansas City for the night, came in St. Louis at Los Angeles for the night game. Well, here we go, the run-set complete with Walmart starts at,
- 2:59:59now Cymline steps into the batter's box. The bases are loaded with two outs and the Yankee's leading 9-8.
- 3:00:08The Yankee's about accident drama. Excitement. 4-3 runs lead away. Here's the wind-up by Bronzsat.
- 3:00:18The pit is a ground ball right at home, because he's bound with the kick-it-up, 6-3 for the out, only Cymline's got 1-1 half-up.
- 3:00:26But if they couldn't find the handle, it hit him, his glove popped out, he's picked it up, got to pick it up and stepped down.
- 3:00:32And the fourth place, and the Yankee's win it's 3-0, 9-8. Wow, in that top of the, right at bottom of the 9-4, the tank is no run, no hit,
- 3:00:41so the Yankee's about a 1 Yankee, and 3 men left on base. The Yankee's win it's 9-8, and while Joe Ripley gets the total ready.

- 3:01:2540 Yankee's, 4 decided 8 runs, 11 hits, 1 error, and 4 2 men left on base.
