- 0:08Speaker 1: I know you were down for the count over the weekend.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Yeah, not fun.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Not fun at all. You had a fever the whole nine, right?
- 0:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Was it typical, like your ballpark? What's the word I'm
- 0:19Speaker 1: looking for? Your typical... Blah. Blah?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Just blah.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Run of the mill. It was like a run of
- 0:25Speaker 1: the mill kind of cold?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yeah, like you kind of don't know. I don't know
- 0:28Speaker 2: that it was a cold. I don't know what it was.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Spoke with my doctor on the phone. You know, did
- 0:32Speaker 2: the best we could. I just feel bad. You know,
- 0:36Speaker 2: I hate missing out. I hate not being here.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I do, too. I do, too. And we missed you, but.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I missed you guys, too.
- 0:43Speaker 1: John Legend was right there yesterday. He missed you.
- 0:46Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:48Speaker 2: That was a big day that I wasn't here for.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I know you've met him a long time ago, but
- 0:53Speaker 1: he's still like down to earth, super cool guy. We're
- 0:57Speaker 1: going to air the interview probably later this week, but
- 0:59Speaker 1: he came in a little after nine yesterday and we
- 1:02Speaker 1: recorded an interview and it was, it was cool. Talked
- 1:04Speaker 1: about some new music, has a new album coming out
- 1:06Speaker 1: in a couple of weeks.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'm sure the pictures look fantastic. Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But so like down to earth, like, you know, 22 years,
- 1:12Speaker 1: over 22 years, he's been doing it and he hasn't
- 1:14Speaker 1: changed since, I don't know if you remember this, but
- 1:17Speaker 1: when we used to work at that station down the hall. Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Do you remember we did a retreat? You do.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I do. I remember really well.
- 1:23Speaker 1: They put all the DJs. We hung out at Chelsea
- 1:25Speaker 1: Piers one afternoon. It was a combination of work and play.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We were going over all the things for the new
- 1:31Speaker 1: fall season or something.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And then we had like two hours to play around.
- 1:35Speaker 1: But they brought John Legend in, this new artist we'd
- 1:38Speaker 1: never heard of. And he had his piano and he
- 1:40Speaker 1: did Ordinary People, his first ever hit. That was in 2004.
- 1:43Speaker 1: We're like, you know. Maybe this guy will do something. Oh, yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 2: He's going to be famous.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:48Speaker 3: He actually, a little bit of trivia from my world. So,
- 1:51Speaker 3: you know, Eric is a drummer, had his own band.
- 1:54Speaker 3: So John Legend, before he was John Legend, I think
- 1:57Speaker 3: his name was Stevens.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Opened for Eric's band.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Get out.
- 2:02Speaker 2: So he's got like a poster.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And he's like, he's got his like, you know, CD,
- 2:07Speaker 3: like an EP.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Wow.
- 2:09Speaker 3: And then years later, Eric played with John Legend at
- 2:14Speaker 3: Kennedy Center.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of like all the, all the tie-ins,
- 2:20Speaker 2: you know.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You forget how many famous people your fiance, Eric, has
- 2:25Speaker 1: drummed with. Yes. You were saying like you could watch TV.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 2: And he's, yes.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And he, if there's a band playing on TV.
- 2:31Speaker 2: He's like, oh, you know.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that guy.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Oh, that's my friend. Oh, no, honey, you met him. No,
- 2:34Speaker 2: you don't remember.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Come on.
- 2:36Speaker 2: You know, I'm supposed to like keep track.
- 2:37Speaker 1: That's pretty cool.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Of everybody and it's hard.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Wow. But yeah, but John Legend definitely stands out for
- 2:42Speaker 3: Eric and, you know, said the same thing.
- 2:44Speaker 2: He said he was a really great guy. You could
- 2:46Speaker 2: tell he was a super talent, you know.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Well, we've got to bring Eric in here and drum
- 2:49Speaker 1: a little bit live on the air.
- 2:50Speaker 2: He can drum a little bit.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Maybe he can do the interview for me when I'm
- 2:53Speaker 3: not well because he seemed to know a lot about him.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Well, you'll be here for this interview today. Judy Torres
- 2:58Speaker 1: will be live in studio. Oh, great. Okay. She's our
- 3:01Speaker 1: colleague down the hall over at KTU. And, of course,
- 3:04Speaker 1: she's known from back in the 80s and 90s, a
- 3:07Speaker 1: lot of freestyle hits. Judy Torres has a new memoir out,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and we'll talk to her. She'll be here live. just
- 3:13Speaker 1: after 8 o'clock here at Light FM. Welcome back, Christine.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Thank you.
