- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo, episode 220. I'm Lucas, and as always, I'm here with the one and only Luna. Luna: And I'm Luna. Lucas, we've done so many verbs lately. Running, hugging, comforting... what's on the menu today? Lucas: Today we're going to lift something, literally. The verb is 'å løfte' — to lift. Luna: Å løfte. That sounds like... lifting. I like how it rolls off the tongue. Å løfte. Lucas: Exactly. And it's a regular verb, so you just add -r in the present tense. Jeg løfter — I lift. Let's try that. Jeg løfter. Luna: Jeg løfter. I lift. So if I lift my coffee cup, I'd say 'jeg løfter koppen'? Lucas: Perfect. And 'koppen' is the cup. But let's focus on the verb for now. 'Jeg løfter' alone is a full sentence. Can you try a question? Luna: Kan du løfte? — Can you lift? That's useful. Like, 'kan du løfte denne?' — can you lift this? Lucas: Great. And if you want to say 'to lift something heavy', you say 'å løfte noe tungt'. Let's use it: 'Han løfter noe tungt' — he lifts something heavy. Luna: Han løfter noe tungt. So 'han' is he, 'løfter' is lifts, 'noe' is something, 'tungt' is heavy. That's a nice sentence. Lucas: You got it. Now let's practice a bit. Repeat after me: å løfte. Luna: Å løfte. Lucas: Jeg løfter. Luna: Jeg løfter. Lucas: Kan du løfte? Luna: Kan du løfte? Lucas: Løfte noe tungt. Luna: Løfte noe tungt. That one's a bit of a mouthful. Let me try again. Løfte noe tungt. Lucas: That was perfect. And 'han løfter' — he lifts. Luna: Han løfter. Okay, I think I've got these in my head now. Lucas: Let's do a tiny scene. You're at the gym, and you see a friend struggling with a heavy dumbbell. You ask, 'kan du løfte?' Luna: Right, so I'd say 'kan du løfte?' and they might reply... 'ja, jeg løfter!' Lucas: And if they're super strong, they'd say 'jeg løfter noe tungt!' — but honestly, I'd be more like 'nei, jeg kan ikke løfte så mye'. Luna: That's me too. But it's fun to imagine. So we have the infinitive 'å løfte', the present 'jeg løfter', the question 'kan du løfte?', and the phrase 'løfte noe tungt'. Lucas: And 'han løfter' for he lifts. Now, let's talk about something that also lifts people up — this podcast. Luna: Oh, are we going to talk about how you can support us? Because honestly, if Fexingo has helped you lift your Norwegian skills to new heights, then you get what we're about. Lucas: Right. If today's episode was worth a coffee to you, there's a tiny link. It's buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. That's it. No pressure. Luna: And it keeps us ad-free, so we can keep making these cozy chats. But back to lifting — I want to try a few more examples. Lucas: Sure. Let's lift some groceries. 'Jeg løfter posene' — I lift the bags. Luna: Jeg løfter posene. And if I'm lifting a child, 'jeg løfter barnet'. Lucas: That's right. 'Barnet' is the child. So you see, 'å løfte' is super useful in daily life. Luna: I feel like I've already got a good grip on it. Can we do one more round of drills? Lucas: Of course. Repeat: å løfte. Luna: Å løfte. Lucas: Jeg løfter. Luna: Jeg løfter. Lucas: Kan du løfte? Luna: Kan du løfte? Lucas: Løfte noe tungt. Luna: Løfte noe tungt. Lucas: Han løfter. Luna: Han løfter. Lucas: Perfect. You're lifting your Norwegian to new levels. Remember, practice makes progress. We'll be back with more Norwegian soon. Until then, keep lifting and keep learning with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time. Ha det bra!
