- 0:50Speaker 3: whatever it is, we appreciate you tuning in. Hey, and
- 0:53Speaker 3: if you're just sitting around listening on the old radio,
- 0:58Speaker 3: tune in on a YouTube, come.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Chat with us. We're not going to show a little bit.
- 1:02Speaker 2: When I'm in the office. I typically listen to you
- 1:03Speaker 2: all on YouTube, well because you want to see our
- 1:05Speaker 2: pretty faces.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Not necessarily, it's just because I don't have a radio
- 1:10Speaker 4: in my office. So I go, you know, I click
- 1:13Speaker 4: up the YouTube page, pull it up and minimize it
- 1:14Speaker 4: and go back to work. I don't technically get to
- 1:16Speaker 4: watch it, but it on YouTube because that's that's rude, buddy.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I felt really bad about my looks.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Now, we were looking at this l SU helmet trying it,
- 1:27Speaker 3: so do we think do we think it's real?
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's it's got a number nine on the.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Back of it, but doesn't have a quarterback quarterbacks face mask,
- 1:33Speaker 4: and then it's half the weight of a normal one.
- 1:38Speaker 5: There's some some pads and some screws were taken a
- 1:41Speaker 5: few years ago by one Jacob Ester. So if you
- 1:44Speaker 5: look at the top, some screws you needed some, uh,
- 1:48Speaker 5: I think one of his, one of the sons. The
- 1:50Speaker 5: screw fell out of the helmet. Jake j came in
- 1:52Speaker 5: with a screwdriver. It took a couple of mons.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, oh.
- 1:55Speaker 6: Look look at the top face mask connects.
- 1:58Speaker 2: You probably gone and asked, Yeah, he took the two
- 2:03Speaker 2: top screws.
- 2:04Speaker 6: All the time.
- 2:06Speaker 4: This was inspected by c. Hamilton on to ten to ten,
- 2:13Speaker 4: So I guess they inspected him after the season. Maybe okay,
- 2:16Speaker 4: all right, well maybe so well, we confirm that it's
- 2:19Speaker 4: not Joe Burrow's helmet, even though it maybe it was
- 2:24Speaker 4: nineteen and Jake took the one because he needed that.
- 2:29Speaker 6: He needed one.
- 2:31Speaker 2: He had to eight already.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I can't believe Jake stole the pads to this helmet.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Not gonna listen. I don't know if it was the.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Pads and the screws at the top there the pads
- 2:41Speaker 6: are going.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Well, he had to have needed that because the screws
- 2:44Speaker 3: would probably hold.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Something that is the same pads. So this is the
- 2:48Speaker 4: same helmet. It's missing the front pads.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Oh, those are some would say those are the most
- 2:55Speaker 2: important pads. Those are the ones that will take the
- 2:57Speaker 2: blow first that gives you a nice red mark on
- 2:59Speaker 2: your forehead. Wow, Jake, real, wow.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Didn't really thinks you're a desperate need for that front
- 3:06Speaker 3: pad like that.
- 3:06Speaker 2: We've got five kids. Okay, Well, all.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Right, Richie, Well let's speaking of numbers at LSU. There's
- 3:16Speaker 3: probably going to be a decision made pretty recently on
- 3:20Speaker 3: what I feel is the most overrated number in sports.
- 3:23Speaker 2: But that's a joke I always make fun of, Jacob.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You do, all right?
- 3:28Speaker 3: There is a number eighteen is going to be handed
- 3:31Speaker 3: out at some point, and if you go to losing
- 3:34Speaker 3: a sports dot net palmer did write a good article
- 3:38Speaker 3: on there, that you can check out talking about what
- 3:41Speaker 3: he feels like the three candidates are for the number
- 3:45Speaker 3: eighteen jersey. Of course, like the eighteen jersey is it
- 3:52Speaker 3: means something at LSU and it's hard to like in
- 3:56Speaker 3: this day and age in college football with the transfer portal,
- 3:59Speaker 3: like it kind of probably shortens your candidate list a
- 4:05Speaker 3: lot because there's a lot of new faces.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And I'm sure like that's probably I think it's gonna
- 4:09Speaker 2: have kind of an added meaning in the new era
- 4:11Speaker 2: of football. Yeah, it's a guy that's been around the program,
- 4:13Speaker 2: most likely a guy that's you know, has Trying to
- 4:17Speaker 2: think off the top of my head, I don't know
- 4:18Speaker 2: if a transfer player has ever worn them.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Break team certainly not a first year.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeahran's fair. I think that's a good off the top
- 4:27Speaker 2: of my head.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, anybody in the chat, let us know, Like, if
- 4:29Speaker 3: you can think of anybody who's warned eighteen that was
- 4:32Speaker 3: at one point a transfer, whether it's this sapter is
- 4:35Speaker 3: first or second year or whatever it is, if you
- 4:36Speaker 3: can think of anybody at the top of your head,
- 4:37Speaker 3: let us know.
- 4:39Speaker 2: But for me, I mean, I think in this era,
- 4:41Speaker 2: if that, yeah, that's true.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Makay Winga Okay, in twenty three, remember he came to
- 4:48Speaker 5: Baker from Missouri.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Okay, that's right, we got one. Yeah, is he still
- 4:53Speaker 3: in the NFL. It was a it was a really
- 4:55Speaker 3: good college guy, but something kind of happened to him. Look,
- 4:58Speaker 3: I like the number, especially just because you know, I
- 5:01Speaker 3: wore the number, Jake gave it to me. But I
- 5:04Speaker 3: know that what it means to the guys who've worn it,
- 5:07Speaker 3: it means a lot. And you know, we still have
- 5:09Speaker 3: a group message. Everybody gets together and hangs out, talks
- 5:13Speaker 3: about things, and you know, it doesn't have the same
- 5:16Speaker 3: meaning it had early on, like when we first started
- 5:18Speaker 3: with Greg Stringfel and Jack Marucci and you know, there
- 5:21Speaker 3: was kind of a a smaller group of guys that
- 5:24Speaker 3: talked about it. And then we start the floating names
- 5:27Speaker 3: out there, and we were more part of the decision.
- 5:29Speaker 4: When it first early on and when when less was involved,
- 5:34Speaker 4: and then you know, love coach O. Coach O turned
- 5:38Speaker 4: it into like he was using the number to maybe
- 5:41Speaker 4: bribe or try to get certain players to stay and
- 5:44Speaker 4: so go to the NFL, and it became more of
- 5:46Speaker 4: a tool and we no longer really had a point
- 5:48Speaker 4: of it. We find out when everybody else finds out
- 5:50Speaker 4: these days, but you know, people still come up all
- 5:52Speaker 4: the time like who's gona get it, who's gona get him?
- 5:54Speaker 4: Like it's not like that anymore.
- 5:55Speaker 2: You know.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Back in the day, we would have an idea who
- 5:57Speaker 4: was about to get it. Now it's just kind of
- 5:59Speaker 4: we find out what everybody else does.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of like the thought of everybody who's
- 6:04Speaker 3: worn it to at least have some sort of you know,
- 6:07Speaker 3: whether they actually listen or not, at least have some
- 6:10Speaker 3: sort of part in conversation, right, at least.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Get that it's gone on now for so long. I
- 6:16Speaker 4: think we're you know, it kind of got out of
- 6:17Speaker 4: hand for a minute with with Coach O and some
- 6:19Speaker 4: other guys and they were giving out to two eighteens
- 6:22Speaker 4: in offensive and a defensive and right. You know, we
- 6:24Speaker 4: had years where there was getting so many people involved
- 6:26Speaker 4: in it that now that that list of people would
- 6:29Speaker 4: be too big to control. And you have involved and even.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I would even say I wouldn't mind if there was
- 6:39Speaker 3: a year that they didn't even have it, Like if
- 6:41Speaker 3: there wasn't somebody that fit the fit the mold right
- 6:45Speaker 3: for what that is, and like, how do you explain that.
- 6:48Speaker 2: That quote unquote mold for eighteen.
- 6:50Speaker 4: It's it's more about it. You know, you used to
- 6:52Speaker 4: have a little bit of dealing with adversity, overcoming things,
- 6:55Speaker 4: you know, Matt Mark with as with Liz Frank. You know,
- 6:58Speaker 4: Hester having his knee surgery before the game going into
- 7:01Speaker 4: the Sugar Bowl and Short White being short and White,
- 7:04Speaker 4: and you know, I remember when when we really first
- 7:07Speaker 4: started talking about we're playing Kentucky and O seven and
- 7:10Speaker 4: uh Jacob Tammy Warick for Kentucky and Hester was like, man,
- 7:14Speaker 4: eighteen looks pretty good on a tight end.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Like, yeah, it looks a right. I think you need
- 7:19Speaker 2: to switch your number.
- 7:20Speaker 4: We started joking about it back then when we played
- 7:22Speaker 4: Kentucky and then less miles no completely shut it down.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Jake Claw was like, man, I don't want anybody else
- 7:29Speaker 4: some slappy wearing my number. We're gonna push it over
- 7:31Speaker 4: to you. Let's shut it down. Wouldn't let it happen.
- 7:34Speaker 4: This is after coming off of two touchdowns. And then
- 7:38Speaker 4: I made a lot of a lot of people upset.
- 7:40Speaker 4: The Hibbits general manager in South Mississippi put a lot
- 7:45Speaker 4: of number eighty two jerseys in after that game, and uh,
- 7:48Speaker 4: I remember that he actually called my dad and he's like,
- 7:50Speaker 4: I got I just felt every store on the golf
- 7:52Speaker 4: coast with eighty two l s U Jersey. Yeah, and
- 7:54Speaker 4: he changed his number. We got a real problem right now.
- 7:58Speaker 4: It was good, but it didn't have my name on
- 7:59Speaker 4: the back of it. You know, you're good. But then
- 8:01Speaker 4: I came back for camp, like I didn't even have
- 8:03Speaker 4: it in spring, came back for camp, but it's kind
- 8:05Speaker 4: of a surprise my locker had changed. So you know,
- 8:08Speaker 4: it's been a lot to me and I think, you know,
- 8:10Speaker 4: it's it's helped me out a lot in in business,
- 8:13Speaker 4: in life, and you know, it's a it's a conversation topic,
- 8:16Speaker 4: but yeah, it's it's not what it used to be
- 8:18Speaker 4: in the sense of we all had an idea and
- 8:20Speaker 4: we all talked about who was going to be the
- 8:22Speaker 4: next guy.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it kind of the goal of it
- 8:25Speaker 2: and the heart of.
- 8:26Speaker 3: It, at least to begin with, is the the spirit
- 8:29Speaker 3: of what it means to be an LSU Tiger, which
- 8:32Speaker 3: is tough, gritty, nasty, overcome adversity. Like no matter what,
- 8:36Speaker 3: are the best athlete or the best guy out there,
- 8:37Speaker 3: that's the guy that's gonna you know, bust his head,
- 8:40Speaker 3: that's gonna and do it all with a team first mentality.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And you take a look at Hunt Palmer's article in
- 8:47Speaker 3: Louisiana Sports dot Net. He gives three candidates for it,
- 8:50Speaker 3: and I want to like get get your opinion. And
- 8:53Speaker 3: maybe you're not as familiar with these players as you are,
- 8:56Speaker 3: but like the guys that potentially could could wear this
- 8:59Speaker 3: just kind of one to get your thoughts and opinions
- 9:01Speaker 3: on how you would feel. You don't have to pick one,
- 9:03Speaker 3: but I got one, and I'm sure it's gonna be
- 9:06Speaker 3: one of the three. The number one the number one
- 9:08Speaker 3: pick am I That is also Hunt number one person
- 9:11Speaker 3: that he wrong talks about is Weeks.
- 9:15Speaker 4: He's just he fits that that that mold and the
- 9:18Speaker 4: guy that's battled through a lot of things. You know,
- 9:20Speaker 4: struggled all last year coming back from you know, hurting
- 9:23Speaker 4: breaking his ankle, never really got fully healthy. But he's
- 9:25Speaker 4: a guy that grinds. He's a guy that has a
- 9:28Speaker 4: passion for the game. I think he's so important to
- 9:29Speaker 4: this team and as far as they bringing the team together,
- 9:32Speaker 4: I mean he was our main recruiter when he during
- 9:35Speaker 4: the transfer portal, he was out there meeting all the guys.
- 9:38Speaker 4: He's a he's a great face for the program. I
- 9:40Speaker 4: think there's not one person that when you talk about
- 9:42Speaker 4: him or you watch an interview on him, he doesn't
- 9:45Speaker 4: rub anybody the wrong way. In my opinion, like he
- 9:47Speaker 4: has something. He's just a special kid. He's somebody that's,
- 9:49Speaker 4: you know, very fun to watch, great to listen to
- 9:53Speaker 4: when he goes out there and busts his ass every day.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yeah, great to listen to. He's awesome. And like now
- 9:58Speaker 3: Smire was a year ago. We's had a chance to
- 10:02Speaker 3: not play the season, go to the NFL, decides to
- 10:05Speaker 3: come back, decides, look, there's unfinished business out here. He
- 10:08Speaker 3: spoke to us during SEC Media Days and said, look,
- 10:10Speaker 3: I didn't I didn't want to leave LSU a loser.
- 10:14Speaker 3: That's not what I came here for. That's not what
- 10:16Speaker 3: LSU was about. So similarly, does everything the right way,
- 10:22Speaker 3: the way you wanted to, as LSU fans, the way
- 10:25Speaker 3: you want a leader in the face of your your
- 10:28Speaker 3: team to be, and he certainly has been that as
- 10:30Speaker 3: he's represented LSU at SEC Media Days for two two
- 10:33Speaker 3: straight years back to back summers, captain of the defense,
- 10:37Speaker 3: the leader of the team and the guy that in
- 10:39Speaker 3: the transfer portal, you know, Lane Lane Kiffin is the
- 10:43Speaker 3: portal king.
- 10:44Speaker 2: That's what he's known. But like it was also with weeks.
- 10:48Speaker 3: At recruiting every single night for that time that they
- 10:50Speaker 3: were they were they were hammering the transfer portal. So
- 10:53Speaker 3: a guy that has been very influential in the roster
- 10:57Speaker 3: building for.
- 10:58Speaker 2: This year as well, and so very or and Peace.
- 11:00Speaker 3: So I think that that would be probably the number
- 11:03Speaker 3: one choice, and he has been outspoken and has said
- 11:06Speaker 3: that he would be honored to There's always that question
- 11:09Speaker 3: do people want have a history?
- 11:11Speaker 4: People don't understand, Like there's been there's been guys that
- 11:14Speaker 4: have early on. I don't know now, but there was,
- 11:16Speaker 4: There's been guys that have turned it down. There's guys who, look,
- 11:19Speaker 4: my whole family has the jerseys. Yeah, they're not swapping
- 11:24Speaker 4: win a Heisman. Yeah, apparently they're not going to retire
- 11:27Speaker 4: your number anyway. So I guess that doesn't really matter.
- 11:29Speaker 3: You know.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I kind of like the the offensive line where we
- 11:31Speaker 4: put on the patch that one year was that Christian
- 11:34Speaker 4: Barry Christian Berry got up at the eighteen patch and
- 11:36Speaker 4: that's so another one on Hunt Palmer's list is bo
- 11:39Speaker 4: Bordalon Uh, a guy that has as.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Loved LSU. Of course he has. Of course his dad
- 11:48Speaker 3: played here, a contributor to LSU football. And a guy
- 11:51Speaker 3: that has kind of bucked the trend in college football,
- 11:54Speaker 3: who has waited his turn and you don't see that
- 11:57Speaker 3: a lot now, who has waited his turn, took over
- 12:00Speaker 3: the starting role after like a week or two in
- 12:02Speaker 3: spring ball. And a guy that went weeks talked glowingly
- 12:05Speaker 3: about when he spoke to us at SEC Media's Day
- 12:08Speaker 3: as well. A guy that has waited his turn and
- 12:11Speaker 3: been at LSU in his blood for his entire life
- 12:16Speaker 3: and wanted to finish his career here and was put
- 12:21Speaker 3: in that starting rotation to spring. It has not let
- 12:23Speaker 3: it go yet. So another guy that would, just like
- 12:26Speaker 3: you said, would have a patch as well.
- 12:29Speaker 4: He's I don't know much about him. I've seen his interviews.
- 12:33Speaker 4: I like the way he talks, he I like the
- 12:34Speaker 4: way he cares himself. You know that the family is
- 12:38Speaker 4: highly involved in l s U. I wouldn't be against it,
- 12:42Speaker 4: but yeah, he'd be a patch guy.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Uh.
- 12:45Speaker 3: And then the third person on on on Huntswiss is
- 12:48Speaker 3: t J. Doddery, a transfer from Ole Miss. He came
- 12:51Speaker 3: over with Lank Kiffin was a representative of l s
- 12:54Speaker 3: U at SEC media days and Taylor give me a
- 12:59Speaker 3: little little bit of background on mister TJ.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Dottry Clemson to Ole Miss, Ole Miss. He was there
- 13:06Speaker 5: leading tackler last year. I see a lot of Ole
- 13:09Speaker 5: Miss fans on Twitter. I think this is a coping
- 13:11Speaker 5: mechanism saying we're better at linebacker without TJ.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Dottery.
- 13:15Speaker 5: You lost your leading tackler and you're leading set. Get
- 13:17Speaker 5: her to LSU. Get over it and move on with
- 13:19Speaker 5: your life. You're not better without that guy. He comes
- 13:21Speaker 5: in big time linebacker next to WD Weeks Like if
- 13:25Speaker 5: Week some TJ. Dottary, you're fully healthy and Dottery can
- 13:27Speaker 5: do what he did last year. That's one of the
- 13:29Speaker 5: best linebacker duos in the SEC. They led the SEC
- 13:31Speaker 5: and tackles last year. So yeah, them next to Wit
- 13:35Speaker 5: look pretty good. And who's going to be the green dot?
- 13:38Speaker 2: You think?
- 13:40Speaker 5: I would think Wit? Yeah, just because he's been in
- 13:43Speaker 5: Baker's system before. Dottery's year one in Blake Baker's system,
- 13:46Speaker 5: So I would think Wit.
- 13:48Speaker 3: But either one of them, yeah, you would think so, think,
- 13:50Speaker 3: of course the green dot. We're talking about that. The
- 13:52Speaker 3: guy that has the microphone is going to be the
- 13:54Speaker 3: communicator to the rest of the defense. He will be
- 13:57Speaker 3: the mouthpiece of Blake Baker and calling the place, so
- 14:00Speaker 3: he'll have that headset on.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Not for that one, Uh, I'm not for that one's
- 14:05Speaker 4: number eighteen. I mean a guy that hasn't yeah, just
- 14:08Speaker 4: his first year here, and like Borderline, I know that
- 14:11Speaker 4: all the things of him being a utility guy, played
- 14:14Speaker 4: some goal line packages last year, really played a little
- 14:16Speaker 4: bit of tight end when they would get in like
- 14:18Speaker 4: two tights and stuff. That one's a little bit tougher
- 14:21Speaker 4: for me too, just because you know, everybody that won
- 14:23Speaker 4: it had been pretty much a starter for a year
- 14:25Speaker 4: or two or they you know, they've proven himself on
- 14:28Speaker 4: the field and learned to be that team guy. Now,
- 14:31Speaker 4: like what I'm saying with Borderline, he might be that
- 14:32Speaker 4: guy in the locker room. We're not there, we don't
- 14:34Speaker 4: see what's going on every day, so it's possible that
- 14:37Speaker 4: he's one of the big leaders and one of the
- 14:39Speaker 4: guys in the room that's doing everything the right way
- 14:40Speaker 4: and kind of guiding the younger guys. But for me,
- 14:44Speaker 4: it's it's pretty slam shut weeks, but they sung kind
- 14:49Speaker 4: of what you've been saying. You would not be in
- 14:50Speaker 4: favor of there being two. No, I don't like.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I don't like too.
- 14:54Speaker 4: It just it gets watered down, like I don't know
- 14:56Speaker 4: some eighteens at this point, yeah, right, and been added
- 14:59Speaker 4: to the group chet. They probably are, but I mean
- 15:01Speaker 4: they thinks so big. I didn't I switch my number.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Group chats are tough. Yeah, and then you change things up,
- 15:07Speaker 4: you get a new phone. Then also phone pops.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Up, so has when's the last time there has been
- 15:13Speaker 3: a message set in the eighteen group chat?
- 15:16Speaker 2: Who?
- 15:17Speaker 4: It's been quite a little while. Jake kind of runs
- 15:18Speaker 4: the eighteen group chat. He usually puts everybody, Jake adds everybody,
- 15:22Speaker 4: puts everybody in. I will see one as soon as
- 15:27Speaker 4: soon as they picked the new eighteen, Jake usually gets it,
- 15:29Speaker 4: you know, he knows all the guys, gets a cell
- 15:31Speaker 4: phone number and adds them too, and everybody this.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Group, look how cool we are nerds. But that I bet,
- 15:41Speaker 3: I bet that group chat is the lame lame a
- 15:44Speaker 3: f you're such a hater, all right, Taylor, what's up?
- 15:50Speaker 3: Who's your pick?
- 15:51Speaker 6: It's with weeks for everything else said?
- 15:54Speaker 5: And then battling through multiple injuries like breaks his angle
- 15:57Speaker 5: in the bowl game against Baylor, comes back, fights through
- 15:59Speaker 5: it last year, had to sit out, decides to come
- 16:03Speaker 5: back again this year. Like he's been here for four years,
- 16:06Speaker 5: he's been a multi year starter, he's been all sec
- 16:09Speaker 5: he's had all American talks, like it's with Weeks. I
- 16:12Speaker 5: think this is one of the easier choices in recent years. Yea,
- 16:15Speaker 5: I love Bo Bordelon, but like what Weeks has already
- 16:18Speaker 5: done here compared to.
- 16:20Speaker 6: Him being the team captain. Yes, it's Weeks.
- 16:23Speaker 3: But again to Richard, like eighteen, has to at some
- 16:27Speaker 3: point staying for a lot of different things.
- 16:29Speaker 2: And I think I think.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Bo Borderland's story, especially if he holds onto that starting spot,
- 16:34Speaker 3: that does epitomize it. But what Weeks's story, everything he's
- 16:39Speaker 3: already done, everything's proven it, like what he's kind of
- 16:41Speaker 3: meant to this team, and not only not only like that,
- 16:45Speaker 3: what he meant to get Blake Baker back for an year,
- 16:47Speaker 3: Like my god, if if Witt decides to go to
- 16:51Speaker 3: the NFL, does Blake stay Potentially Yes, we don't know,
- 16:55Speaker 3: but I think that played a really big part. I
- 16:58Speaker 3: think both of them staying played a big part in
- 17:00Speaker 3: each other staying.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yea, look who's your pick.
- 17:04Speaker 7: I can't imagine a world without wood Weeks being number eighteen. Yeah,
- 17:07Speaker 7: like slam shot. Yeah, I mean if it's on Calshi, like,
- 17:11Speaker 7: we can all get rich, there's no doubt.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I want in the group chat, in the group chat,
- 17:18Speaker 4: and uh yeah, I agree with you as well.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Like although the TJ.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Dottary situation and him coming over and being a really
- 17:26Speaker 3: great player last year leading SEC and tackles, and also
- 17:29Speaker 3: Lane thinking highly enough of his leadership abilities to send
- 17:33Speaker 3: him to SEC media days, is that first, Like, there's
- 17:36Speaker 3: no one player that could potentially get scrutinized more than
- 17:39Speaker 3: him at all of SEC media days because he's the
- 17:41Speaker 3: guy that one of the guys that followed Lane and
- 17:43Speaker 3: transferred with him. But still it does have to still
- 17:47Speaker 3: eighteen does have to stand on something and mean something.
- 17:50Speaker 2: I still I don't think we can get there yet.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I guess in this world of college football that a
- 17:54Speaker 3: first year guy could put that jersey on, not taking
- 17:59Speaker 3: anything away from but he's going to mean to this
- 18:00Speaker 3: tame but just for that number specific, right, So we'll
- 18:04Speaker 3: see what happens. We'll see, I know that would have
- 18:07Speaker 3: said that he would love and be honored to wear
- 18:09Speaker 3: that number. So again I'm with y'all. I don't see
- 18:12Speaker 3: a world in which he would not be the first choice. Now,
- 18:15Speaker 3: if he accepts it, that's another thing. But certainly all
- 18:18Speaker 3: these people on this list deserving, and go check it
- 18:20Speaker 3: out at Losing Our Sports on that great job by
- 18:22Speaker 3: Hunt Palmer over there putting that list together.

- 21:47Speaker 4: I'm a little bit distracted because in my mind I
- 21:50Speaker 4: look over at you and you got your legs popped
- 21:52Speaker 4: up on the desk. You might be the only guy
- 21:54Speaker 4: I've ever seen doing radio that leans back in his
- 21:56Speaker 4: chair and puts his feet up on the desk while
- 21:58Speaker 4: he's talking the whole time. Well, we gotta be comfy, heavy, comfy, cozy.
- 22:01Speaker 4: He can't be uptight. What do you get. Didn't hurt
- 22:06Speaker 4: your ankle, toy this? No, no, no, no, that's good.
- 22:08Speaker 2: You're good.
- 22:10Speaker 5: We've just got a lot of patting on these ankles,
- 22:13Speaker 5: a lot of padding.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Well, I did send you that picture the other day.
- 22:16Speaker 2: There's a picture of me and Matt sitting next to
- 22:18Speaker 2: each other, and then my ankles look half the size.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Well you do have tiny little ankles. Yeah, let's be honest,
- 22:24Speaker 5: a little bird.
- 22:24Speaker 4: Legs athlete, athletic ankles.
- 22:32Speaker 3: I want to take a just a couple of stories
- 22:34Speaker 3: around quickly, hit some stories that are around sports around
- 22:37Speaker 3: the NFL. You told me this morning to follow up
- 22:41Speaker 3: on our conversation on Friday about the Perdue athletic director.
- 22:48Speaker 5: Yeah, he would on MacAfee you on Friday, because of
- 22:50Speaker 5: course he did McAfee because he listens to our show.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Problem has everyone on the show. And he kinda backtracked
- 22:56Speaker 5: a little bit. He didn't take back what he said,
- 22:59Speaker 5: but I mean he got up there and he said,
- 23:01Speaker 5: you know, I'm I was.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Having a great day. I wanted to share a vision.
- 23:05Speaker 5: He's like, I made an offhanded comment about the end
- 23:07Speaker 5: State rival.
- 23:08Speaker 6: He's like, it obviously didn't land well.
- 23:10Speaker 5: He said, I knew it wasn't gonna land well the
- 23:12Speaker 5: second it left my mouth.
- 23:13Speaker 6: But we just had to move on and roll with it.
- 23:15Speaker 5: So he kind of explained his reasoning and he's like,
- 23:18Speaker 5: wanted to go off the cuff a little bit and
- 23:21Speaker 5: take a playful jab but obviously it did not work,
- 23:25Speaker 5: because I'm sure his twenty five minute press conference was great.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Everyone heard those fifteen seconds and absolutely it was absolutely
- 23:31Speaker 5: brutal on Friday, So I'm not surprised he backtracked a
- 23:34Speaker 5: little bit.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Richard.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I don't know if you heard about the Purdue new
- 23:38Speaker 3: athletic director who is actually from Louisiana and has been
- 23:41Speaker 3: the ad here at what North, at LA Tech and
- 23:45Speaker 3: somewhere else.
- 23:46Speaker 5: So he was he was at McNeese and then Lattak. Okay,
- 23:48Speaker 5: so he's got Louisiana tize.
- 23:50Speaker 3: He does go to Purdue and makes that's the greatest
- 23:53Speaker 3: com It wasn't taken the best by the country, by
- 23:56Speaker 3: the nation, by the world.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Does that comment work two years ago?
- 23:59Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 2: No, it doesn't.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Doesn't think you counted up the champ like the athletic champion.
- 24:06Speaker 5: In fact, it just happened.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Infinitely. It doesn't get as much attension two years ago.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Okay, let's move over to the NFL. Now, Jayden Daniels,
- 24:20Speaker 3: we talked highly about him. They had Stefan Diggs. We
- 24:23Speaker 3: like we talked for like a what I want to raise.
- 24:26Speaker 2: My hand real quick, Okay, said Jadon Daniels. I don't.
- 24:28Speaker 2: I know you'll probably covered this last week, but uh,
- 24:31Speaker 2: what about the DJ Pickett get number five?
- 24:35Speaker 4: Yes, okay, that's a story that I'd like to hear
- 24:37Speaker 4: more about. How do you promise this kid a number
- 24:40Speaker 4: in recruiting and then he wore number three last year? Like,
- 24:44Speaker 4: to me, there's some major bs going on. I'd be
- 24:46Speaker 4: really pissed off at somebody like that was promised. I mean, look,
- 24:50Speaker 4: Jayon Daniels already gone, he wore he was promised that.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Knowing Jaydon Daniels wore that number, I'd like to know.
- 24:59Speaker 4: So how fissed off was he?
- 25:00Speaker 3: Like, you string up a very good point because a
- 25:03Speaker 3: lot of people, including our own mister Taylor Sharp, glossed
- 25:08Speaker 3: over this and saying they don't you don't really care,
- 25:10Speaker 3: in which I get it.
- 25:10Speaker 2: A lot of they don't care about jersey numbers, and
- 25:13Speaker 2: I get.
- 25:13Speaker 3: It, and like players do, players do care about that
- 25:16Speaker 3: type of things because it is recognition and it.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Means something to you, Like everybody has a favorite number
- 25:21Speaker 4: when you were a kid watching sports, right, Like I
- 25:24Speaker 4: wore number seven in baseball for a long time for
- 25:26Speaker 4: Pud Rodriguez, Like that was my guy I had to
- 25:28Speaker 4: wear it then. You know, I was thirty four for
- 25:30Speaker 4: Walter Payton when I played running back growing up. Yeah,
- 25:32Speaker 4: I mean the numbers all there's always a meaning to
- 25:34Speaker 4: the number that.
- 25:35Speaker 3: You're wearing, right, And like there's as an athlete, and
- 25:38Speaker 3: as you set goals for yourself, and you set goals
- 25:41Speaker 3: based on things that other people have achieved, right, And like,
- 25:44Speaker 3: if you have a goal in mind, you want to
- 25:48Speaker 3: you want it to be attainable. Yeah, and getting your numbers,
- 25:51Speaker 3: like having your name and your number in the rafters
- 25:54Speaker 3: is always a goal everybody. But you bring up a
- 25:59Speaker 3: really point that we didn't talk about. He was promised
- 26:01Speaker 3: the number in recruiting, but he didn't wear the number
- 26:05Speaker 3: in his first year. No, so like it was it
- 26:08Speaker 3: was available, and it was obviously it was available. Why
- 26:12Speaker 3: if Laane has said he was promised to him and
- 26:15Speaker 3: recruiting didn't talk about this last week we didn't talk
- 26:18Speaker 3: about We talked about this the whole situation, but we
- 26:21Speaker 3: didn't talk about how the promise was made by Brian Kelly.
- 26:25Speaker 5: But Brian Kelly didn't give him the number. So why
- 26:30Speaker 5: I'm gonna guess, Well, first off.
- 26:33Speaker 2: There a lot of promise you can wear it.
- 26:35Speaker 5: I don't like to defend Brian Kelly, but there are
- 26:37Speaker 5: a lot of people on Friday.
- 26:38Speaker 6: Why does Brian Kelly hate L s U.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Guys?
- 26:40Speaker 6: He promised them number five to get him to L
- 26:42Speaker 6: s U. I got I get it.
- 26:44Speaker 2: But you don't go against it. You can ruin a.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Relationship, that's the thing, right, DJ pick it like that
- 26:50Speaker 3: happens to me. Okay, they lied to me in recruiting.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I get here. They don't do that in this day
- 26:55Speaker 3: and age.
- 26:57Speaker 5: And I bet that's why Lane gave it out. He
- 26:59Speaker 5: probably went to Lane and was like, look, I was
- 27:01Speaker 5: told a year ago I could have this. I don't
- 27:02Speaker 5: have it yet. If your staff doesn't change it, them
- 27:05Speaker 5: out of here. Lane doesn't want to lose him. Yeah, cool,
- 27:08Speaker 5: take it. Honestly, I get it. You gotta gotta play
- 27:15Speaker 5: the game. Guys have been promised numbers.
- 27:19Speaker 3: But if I got if, I got a twenty year
- 27:21Speaker 3: old or nine year old kid telling me he's leaving
- 27:22Speaker 3: because of it.
- 27:23Speaker 2: He did a jersey number.
- 27:25Speaker 6: I get it, but also think about it on the
- 27:28Speaker 6: flip side.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Right, don't let the door. You're Lane.
- 27:29Speaker 5: You're under a lot of scrutiny and They're like, Lane,
- 27:33Speaker 5: you you let this kid walk out of the door
- 27:35Speaker 5: over a jersey number.
- 27:36Speaker 3: You know what, how you win and the battle of
- 27:39Speaker 3: in the in the perception, in the court of public opinion.
- 27:42Speaker 3: You say he left because he wanted a former Heisman
- 27:45Speaker 3: winner's number, and I wouldn't give it to Sure If
- 27:48Speaker 3: you want to go down this whole numbers, I just
- 27:50Speaker 3: thought of another story that's pretty funny about how important
- 27:53Speaker 3: is the players. You know what you used to get
- 27:55Speaker 3: in trouble some guys, I mean, I guess we can
- 27:57Speaker 3: talk about it now. Statue of Limitations would of their
- 28:00Speaker 3: jersey again, LSU jersey and the certain players would take
- 28:03Speaker 3: their game jersey and go give it to somebody or
- 28:04Speaker 3: give it to a friend, family, whatever. And Chad Jones
- 28:09Speaker 3: had done it one too many times, and they're like,
- 28:11Speaker 3: if you do it again, we're not having another number three.
- 28:15Speaker 3: So I forget what game we were playing. He walks
- 28:18Speaker 3: out there and there's like a number forty five in
- 28:20Speaker 3: his locker. They told him that you know, we're done,
- 28:22Speaker 3: We're not doing this. Chad took his crap off and
- 28:25Speaker 3: went back inside. He said, I'm not playing then, all right,
- 28:27Speaker 3: And it went all the way up and took kickoff
- 28:28Speaker 3: and less Miles finally give him the Tann number three.
- 28:31Speaker 3: So this was during the season, in the right before
- 28:34Speaker 3: a game. So what year is this eighth eight? Maybe
- 28:37Speaker 3: it's okay, so he's done it multiple times. So this
- 28:41Speaker 3: is at the end of the season. Yes, had it
- 28:43Speaker 3: been towards the end, trink it back into the season
- 28:45Speaker 3: and you know, you remember who y'all are playing. I
- 28:47Speaker 3: can't remember. I remember Greg string fella and been like, hey, look,
- 28:51Speaker 3: you can't give away another jersey. We can't keep getting
- 28:53Speaker 3: you new jerseys. And of course he Chad's or whatever
- 28:57Speaker 3: I do it. Anyway, he shows up for the game.
- 28:59Speaker 3: They got a random forty number in his locker and
- 29:02Speaker 3: he threw a Fifty's like, okay, that's fine.
- 29:03Speaker 2: He was gonna he went to leave.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Dude, what a great story, and like went to leave
- 29:08Speaker 4: before the game because Chad was hard headed. There was
- 29:10Speaker 4: another time that, uh, Chad was particular about what he wore.
- 29:14Speaker 4: His suit had fallen out of the closet, like off
- 29:18Speaker 4: his so it was wrinkled and he said, I'm not
- 29:20Speaker 4: wearing I'm not wearing a wrinkled suit. Well, they said,
- 29:22Speaker 4: you can't play he said, and I'll go home, like,
- 29:25Speaker 4: because you gotta walk down the hill, got to walk
- 29:26Speaker 4: down the hill. And he's like, I'm not walking down
- 29:28Speaker 4: there with a wrinkled suit. Okay, I forget how that
- 29:30Speaker 4: got around, but you know, Chad got his way. Yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 4: and he played, of course. But the number was hilarious
- 29:36Speaker 4: because he wouldn't even go out for warm ups in it.
- 29:38Speaker 2: That is so good. So did y'all? Okay?
- 29:42Speaker 3: So did they change the jersey before pregame warm ups?
- 29:45Speaker 2: You remember? I think he got there after the walking
- 29:48Speaker 2: down the hill, walked into his locker and he had
- 29:50Speaker 2: a new jersey and he said, I'm out. Oh yeah.
- 29:53Speaker 2: And then and then they tried to play like hardball
- 29:55Speaker 2: with him because you know, you have there about two
- 29:57Speaker 2: hours before, yep.
- 29:58Speaker 4: And they wouldn't give it to him, wuldn' of it
- 30:00Speaker 4: to him. And then when we're all getting ready to
- 30:01Speaker 4: go out the tunnel and he's still sitting in his locker,
- 30:04Speaker 4: he said, I'm not playing. They brought back the number three.
- 30:07Speaker 4: I love it.
- 30:08Speaker 2: They had one.
- 30:09Speaker 6: They had one Matty had.
- 30:11Speaker 2: They were going to go as long as possible.
- 30:14Speaker 4: I can't remember if he gave away that jersey too,
- 30:17Speaker 4: that's really interesting. That's a good story, dude. Yeah, you
- 30:21Speaker 4: can say it now. I mean technically that was a
- 30:23Speaker 4: way to get suspended. Like they ought kids would maybe
- 30:26Speaker 4: sell their jerseys and do stuff with it. So you
- 30:28Speaker 4: weren't supposed to certainly not supposed to. Weren't supposed to
- 30:30Speaker 4: do that.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Wow.
- 30:34Speaker 4: But when you brought up the jerseys, when you brought
- 30:37Speaker 4: up Jaden Daniels, I was thinking about the five. That
- 30:39Speaker 4: just blows my mind. That he was promised it and
- 30:43Speaker 4: didn't get it.
- 30:45Speaker 3: That is very interesting that right like he wasn't he
- 30:48Speaker 3: was promised it number number three? Was he number three? Three?
- 30:52Speaker 3: Number three? Yeah, wonder if he gave it away every game?
- 30:59Speaker 3: Well to just that Daniel Store, Well, this is it.
- 31:01Speaker 3: We're gonna go. We're gonna go to break here in
- 31:02Speaker 3: a second. But like before we do it, Jane Dann's
- 31:05Speaker 3: what I was gonna start talking about. He gets dealt
- 31:08Speaker 3: the blow Larry Laramie Tunsell tears his trice up. So
- 31:12Speaker 3: Laramy Tunsell, what seeming did they say? He's gonna be
- 31:15Speaker 3: out for the year, no period of a lot of
- 31:17Speaker 3: people are.
- 31:18Speaker 6: Thinking playoffs the best case scenario.
- 31:21Speaker 5: I mean they're they're thinking they're thinking four month recovery
- 31:23Speaker 5: time for this, So I mean that's essentially.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Yeah, a long time, very very good offensive lineman. And
- 31:30Speaker 3: where they were lacking weapons around Jaydon a lot they
- 31:33Speaker 3: brought and stuff on Diggs last week, which we thought,
- 31:35Speaker 3: we think is a very good move for him. And
- 31:38Speaker 3: just not a lot of people talking about Jayden going
- 31:40Speaker 3: into the season. We feel like he's going to have
- 31:42Speaker 3: a great year hopefully. Let's everybody know that that first year,
- 31:47Speaker 3: that first year Jade's back, but.
- 31:48Speaker 2: This is certainly a blow to that.
- 31:50Speaker 3: But we'll see what they what they can do to
- 31:53Speaker 3: to fill those big old shoes with Laramie Tunseell all right,
- 31:56Speaker 3: let's go to break, we'll come back. Got more O
- 31:58Speaker 3: T B right here.
- 31:59Speaker 6: For you, fads.

- 32:49Speaker 3: of working capital for your life or your business.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Working with local businesses.
- 32:52Speaker 3: If you have a local business, Richard, and you need

- 33:00Speaker 3: local company, might not, might as well.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Not be one from New York City.
- 33:03Speaker 3: So go to the First American Banking Trust FABT dot com.

- 33:25Speaker 6: Take Beeples round world, See to world.
- 33:37Speaker 2: He welcome back here.
- 33:38Speaker 5: Off the Bench Stem night the top of eight thirty
- 33:43Speaker 5: nine am Here in the Capital City, fly from the
- 33:48Speaker 5: Raisin King Studio, Taylor, How did that sounds?
- 33:50Speaker 2: Capital City? Sorry, nop, you gotta turn that microphone on.
- 34:00Speaker 6: It's catching on.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Okay, good good, Well, we'll get there. We'll still do it.
- 34:04Speaker 3: I'm gonna draw attention to it every time, so there's
- 34:06Speaker 3: no way to ever move past this. I'm gonna draw
- 34:08Speaker 3: attention to it.
- 34:08Speaker 5: I still like good morning Baton Reage.
- 34:13Speaker 2: It is real good.
- 34:14Speaker 3: I mean that's yeah. We'll get there. We'll get gotta
- 34:19Speaker 3: get Jacob to help us change that name off the bench. Aka,
- 34:24Speaker 3: good morning Baton rouge Richard. How do you like it?
- 34:26Speaker 2: It's great? What's going on at work right now? This
- 34:30Speaker 2: long and some pipe right now? Yeah? You where you're
- 34:34Speaker 2: going somewhere? After this? You go to a job site.
- 34:36Speaker 4: I got a lunch, set up, pipes and valves, Pipes
- 34:39Speaker 4: and valves, pipe fit and flangers and valves. Come on,
- 34:42Speaker 4: I'm mind a good This guy A few actuators right now.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Actuator I knew that was a word.
- 34:48Speaker 2: About salinoids. Yeah.
- 34:50Speaker 4: What does an actuator do? So it opens and closes
- 34:52Speaker 4: the valve? You got, Scott Joke, got rack and pinion.
- 34:56Speaker 4: You go with the m O V and an electric
- 34:58Speaker 4: actuator that you can control from the operator room. Basically
- 35:02Speaker 4: like you're starting to automate all these valves so that
- 35:04Speaker 4: you can kind of have less people. You used to
- 35:06Speaker 4: have guys have to go out in the field and
- 35:08Speaker 4: opening closed valves all the time. Now you put all
- 35:10Speaker 4: these actuators and automated packages together. The guy sits in
- 35:12Speaker 4: the control room just clicks a button. My god, this
- 35:15Speaker 4: guy knows there's a lot of Richard to cough. He
- 35:20Speaker 4: needs some pipes of valves in Louisiana. I'll give you
- 35:22Speaker 4: where do they call?
- 35:22Speaker 2: You? Don't give your cell phone away again? Yeah? Or
- 35:26Speaker 2: do it? It's two two five seven one five nine
- 35:29Speaker 2: one two one.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Give a call. I don't know the main number. I
- 35:32Speaker 3: need to probably look that up. Just give your cell
- 35:36Speaker 3: phoned out to everybody. Give them a text. All Tim
- 35:39Speaker 3: Tebow this dude, right, that's on my card. It's all right, okay.
- 35:45Speaker 3: The Saints a little bit of news.
- 35:46Speaker 8: Uh.
- 35:46Speaker 3: I think this came out Friday, but we didn't get
- 35:48Speaker 3: it here on this show. They signed former LSU linebacker
- 35:52Speaker 3: Deon Jones has played now he has played with every
- 35:56Speaker 3: team in the NSA South. I was he Atlanta twenty sixteen,
- 36:01Speaker 3: twenty one, and I think it's with the Browns in
- 36:03Speaker 3: twenty two, then Carolina in twenty three. The last couple
- 36:07Speaker 3: of years in Tampa, so they bring u him Taylor,
- 36:11Speaker 3: Was this a surprise signing for you? It's not necessarily
- 36:14Speaker 3: a place where.
- 36:14Speaker 2: They needed depth.
- 36:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 5: Well, whether they needed depth or not, they haven't lost
- 36:20Speaker 5: anybody that in training camp, like injury wise. I remember
- 36:23Speaker 5: they brought in Kaden Ellis in the offseason to kind
- 36:26Speaker 5: of replace the Mario Davis. You got some young talent there.
- 36:29Speaker 5: We know Danny Stutsman there as well. It's a surprise signing.
- 36:32Speaker 5: I like it though, I mean, you know you're gonna
- 36:34Speaker 5: get him.
- 36:34Speaker 6: On a cheap veteran deal.
- 36:36Speaker 5: Played a little bit last year with Tampa, as you mentioned,
- 36:39Speaker 5: I mean twenty nine total tackles.
- 36:43Speaker 6: A year ago.
- 36:44Speaker 5: Is kind of a role player for Tampa, and he
- 36:46Speaker 5: came in a lot down the stretch when that defense was.
- 36:49Speaker 6: Beat the hell a year ago.
- 36:50Speaker 5: So like Dean Jones from that area obviously played here
- 36:54Speaker 5: in New Orleans or played here at LSU from the
- 36:56Speaker 5: New Orleans area, I think it's a good signing.
- 36:58Speaker 6: It's very little risk.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Well there you go.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Well, I think anybody that's anytime we see somebody an
- 37:04Speaker 3: LSU player go to the Saints, we get a little excited.
- 37:06Speaker 3: So hopefully he's entering his believe, eleventh year, you're eleven
- 37:12Speaker 3: into the NFL. Now, his productivity with Tampa wasn't that high.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I think he's only got about twenty one tackles of
- 37:17Speaker 3: the last two seasons combined.
- 37:20Speaker 2: So we'll see if he.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Can more special I don't know, I don't I don't
- 37:24Speaker 3: really know what is backup linebacker plays a lot of
- 37:27Speaker 3: special team. Yeah, so you know, we'll we'll see what
- 37:30Speaker 3: his you know, chances are to make the final roster.
- 37:33Speaker 3: But obviously he's going to bring much more than just
- 37:36Speaker 3: athletic skill to the position. Will bring a lot of
- 37:39Speaker 3: experience to a young group. So we'll see. Congratulations to
- 37:43Speaker 3: Dean Jones. Hopefully it works out and hopefully he adds
- 37:45Speaker 3: a key piece even eleven years, right, good for him.
- 37:49Speaker 3: All Right, we're gonna get a break, We're gonna come back.
- 37:51Speaker 3: We're gonna set our sights on the NFL to stick
- 37:53Speaker 3: with us right here and if finch off.
- 37:56Speaker 1: The bench, off the bench presented by Hoodental.

- 39:16Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU football twenty four to seven. You're
- 39:19Speaker 1: listening to Off the Bench.
- 39:24Speaker 8: Pus It's been through a lot, to the point where
- 39:27Speaker 8: in some cases the feeling was we may have lost everything,
- 39:31Speaker 8: it may never come back.
- 39:32Speaker 2: The same.
- 39:34Speaker 8: Storms teach us that our greatest treasures aren't the things
- 39:36Speaker 8: that we own. They're the people we love and the
- 39:42Speaker 8: way we show up for one another. It reminds us
- 39:45Speaker 8: to hold our loved ones a little closer, to love
- 39:48Speaker 8: a little hardy, to laugh a little louder, and to
- 39:51Speaker 8: never take a single day for granted. Sometimes it takes
- 39:55Speaker 8: losing what can be replaced to truly appreciate the things
- 39:59Speaker 8: that can.
- 40:01Speaker 2: New Orleans.
- 40:04Speaker 8: You accepted me, you embraced me, you believed in me,
- 40:08Speaker 8: But more importantly, you trusted me with the soul of
- 40:11Speaker 8: the city.
- 40:12Speaker 2: And I would have died to protect that.
- 40:14Speaker 8: Call in.
- 40:27Speaker 2: A good God.
- 40:31Speaker 3: All right there, He has drew breeze in his Hall
- 40:34Speaker 3: of Fame speech nearly twenty minutes of twenty minutes speech
- 40:38Speaker 3: this past weekend as he gets inducted into the Pro
- 40:40Speaker 3: Football Hall of Fame, and.
- 40:43Speaker 2: The social media went nuts.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Not a dry eye out there, bring a tear to
- 40:47Speaker 3: a glass eye talking about what New Orleans, what Louisiana
- 40:51Speaker 3: meant to him, and of course what he meant to Louisiana,
- 40:55Speaker 3: especially at the time of the storm and everything. Everybody
- 40:57Speaker 3: knows the story. We don't need to rehash the entire story.
- 41:01Speaker 3: But awesome stuff there from the speech, and lots of people,
- 41:07Speaker 3: lots of people tweet even even our guy Devin snow
- 41:10Speaker 3: Yeah tweeting a selfie with the tears rolling down his face.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Everybody's very much yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, big Jeries,
- 41:19Speaker 3: big for sure, and he should be. Everybody should be. Taylor,
- 41:24Speaker 3: I did not cry. I did not cry, but very
- 41:26Speaker 3: very but I thought it was very touching. That was
- 41:29Speaker 3: very good. How do we feel about what the speech?
- 41:33Speaker 2: Oh?
- 41:33Speaker 6: The speech was.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Great that I cried, no, but I thought it was
- 41:36Speaker 5: a good speech. I thought he showed you don't cry, men,
- 41:40Speaker 5: don't I've cried before. I didn't cry that, but I mean,
- 41:44Speaker 5: I thought it was good. I thought he showed what
- 41:46Speaker 5: the city of New Orleans meant to him. He got
- 41:48Speaker 5: there at such an instrumental time, not only for his career,
- 41:50Speaker 5: but the city of New Orleans.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Look, he grew up obviously, Saints Man. Yeah, Louisiana. And
- 42:02Speaker 3: when you were what year were you born?
- 42:05Speaker 2: Ninety nine?
- 42:06Speaker 3: Okay, so you were very at a at an age
- 42:10Speaker 3: where pro football players were probably on this pedestal. Yeah,
- 42:15Speaker 3: for sure, even college players. Of course, Dury would have
- 42:18Speaker 3: been at the top of that pedestal. You grew up
- 42:20Speaker 3: a Saints fan. What did Drew kind of mean to
- 42:23Speaker 3: you as a child growing up watching the Saints?
- 42:27Speaker 2: It was awesome?
- 42:28Speaker 7: Yeah, Like I mean, we had LSU on Saturdays Sunday
- 42:33Speaker 7: wake up because we always had the.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you were kind of you had a spoiled childhood.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Oh as far as like quality.
- 42:39Speaker 7: Run, yeah, it was awesome, like LSU Saturdays wake up
- 42:43Speaker 7: because we also have the nutes late back then for
- 42:47Speaker 7: for Saints, and it was just I'd go over to
- 42:50Speaker 7: Buddy's house and we would just put on our Breeze jersey. Yeah,
- 42:53Speaker 7: and it was like it was an event watching him play.
- 42:57Speaker 2: So your baton rouge obviously, So.
- 43:02Speaker 3: I'm gonna guess I don't know, I'm gonna guess you
- 43:05Speaker 3: would if you had to choose a happen between LSU
- 43:07Speaker 3: and Saints, you put on LSU.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Hat. Oh yeah.
- 43:09Speaker 3: But on the same hand, then I think a lot
- 43:11Speaker 3: of people are kind of like that outside of New Orleans.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Of course, the New Orleans it gets a little bit different.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Of course, and it's rightfully so, yeah, but like, uh,
- 43:20Speaker 3: you were probably too young to understand the impact of
- 43:23Speaker 3: like Katrina and that time and what that team kind
- 43:25Speaker 3: of meant going back to the Dome and everything. But like,
- 43:28Speaker 3: do you have memories of that of like that first
- 43:31Speaker 3: game back at the Dome?
- 43:32Speaker 2: I don't, Yeah, I don't.
- 43:34Speaker 7: I mean young, but looking back, like my buddy was
- 43:38Speaker 7: actually in the stadium for uh it was Atlanta, right
- 43:42Speaker 7: the glease and block punt. My buddy was in there
- 43:45Speaker 7: and that was his first Saints game he went to
- 43:47Speaker 7: is that game and his parents like have videos of
- 43:50Speaker 7: it and every.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Time I go over to his house, like, I'm like,
- 43:53Speaker 2: can I see that video?
- 43:54Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 43:54Speaker 3: Yeah, Taylor, you got like what when you think back
- 43:57Speaker 3: to that time period, that gamecifically, like what, like what
- 44:03Speaker 3: are your core memories from that?
- 44:06Speaker 1: Man?
- 44:06Speaker 6: I remember my dad would have the paper up.
- 44:08Speaker 5: This is when people would still get the Sunday paper, right,
- 44:10Speaker 5: and I mean it felt like for a year you
- 44:12Speaker 5: would just see floodwaters in the paper. I mean with
- 44:15Speaker 5: thousands of cots inside the Superdome, like people were wondering
- 44:18Speaker 5: when they would ever, if ever get back to the Superdome,
- 44:21Speaker 5: and like that first game back. We're watching it on TV,
- 44:24Speaker 5: and you know, I mean, I didn't grow up a
- 44:26Speaker 5: huge Saints fan. I've become a bigger fan over the years, obviously,
- 44:30Speaker 5: but man like, it's one of those atmospheres that even
- 44:33Speaker 5: if you weren't there, you could feel it through your TV.
- 44:35Speaker 5: There's a few of those. There's a few of those
- 44:37Speaker 5: over the years that that's one of them. It was incredible.
- 44:39Speaker 5: Didn't like so I have a memory from that game.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Didn't Green Day perform like either before the game? Somebody
- 44:46Speaker 5: did because they played.
- 44:47Speaker 3: There's a house in New Orleans, like I remember them playing.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I did not go to that, but I remember, of
- 44:53Speaker 3: course like watching it. I remember watching it in an apartment.
- 44:56Speaker 2: That was year.
- 44:57Speaker 6: What year was that? So seven they did? They did perform?
- 45:02Speaker 5: It was uh in YouTube, I remember watching the performance.
- 45:06Speaker 5: Huh it was uh it was September twenty fifth, sixth six.
- 45:12Speaker 5: This is when they came back and it was Green
- 45:13Speaker 5: Day and you two.
- 45:15Speaker 3: I remember that Spacid and that was a weird time
- 45:17Speaker 3: for us because we're playing. Of course, we're playing playing
- 45:20Speaker 3: college football, so you're not like tuned into you're so
- 45:23Speaker 3: focused on what you're doing.
- 45:24Speaker 2: You're not really tuned into NFL football a lot.
- 45:26Speaker 3: It's kind of like in the NFL it wasn't like
- 45:27Speaker 3: really tuned into college because like, you got a job
- 45:29Speaker 3: to do.
- 45:30Speaker 4: I don't think I was ever tuned into the NFL
- 45:32Speaker 4: ti I had new people that were playing in the NFL.
- 45:34Speaker 4: Right I grew up, I mean a Mississippi State fan, which
- 45:37Speaker 4: was tough, you know. In the nineties it was good
- 45:39Speaker 4: with Jackie Sheryl, But I grew up more around college.
- 45:42Speaker 4: That's all my family talked about. That's what they watched.
- 45:44Speaker 4: Nobody really watched the NFL Saturdays. We'd watched the game.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Sundays we were hunter fishing, yep. But as I got
- 45:53Speaker 4: older now I think NFL I watched more than college
- 45:56Speaker 4: right now because there's still people I like to see,
- 45:57Speaker 4: Like I'm gonna watch the Lions game up necessarily because
- 46:00Speaker 4: I played there, but because I like to watch what
- 46:01Speaker 4: ship does. I'm gonna keep up with Stafford just to
- 46:04Speaker 4: see what he does. It's fun to me more to
- 46:08Speaker 4: know people to watch.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Well.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Congratulations to Drew Brees. Inducted into the Hall of Fame.
- 46:13Speaker 3: And I can tell you I was a teammate for
- 46:14Speaker 3: half of a season and it was no accident that
- 46:17Speaker 3: he was great and uh talented, but worked harder than
- 46:22Speaker 3: anyone and studied the game very, very hard. So no accident,
- 46:25Speaker 3: he worked his way into it. So congrats to him.
- 46:27Speaker 3: Congrats on a Hall of Fame career. All right, stick
- 46:30Speaker 3: with us. We are gonna go to our number three
- 46:32Speaker 3: weekend winners to lose when we come back right here
- 46:34Speaker 3: and off the bench.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Off the bench, so we could winners or losers. No
- 46:40Speaker 2: one could understand that, I kind of mumble.
- 46:41Speaker 3: If you're run the industrial facility anywhere across the Gulf South,
- 46:44Speaker 3: here's something to keep in mind. Don't let maintenance or

- 46:50Speaker 2: Pala.
