- 0:00Speaker 1: You really love that. You really the taste of my asshole,
- 0:04Speaker 1: because you're always freaking commenting on this. I'm don't worry
- 0:09Speaker 1: about what I'm saying. Just worry about don't all those
- 0:12Speaker 1: beautiful clothes behind you shake it? Are you? I see
- 0:15Speaker 1: you're drinking water today, which I appreciate. You're not gonna
- 0:19Speaker 1: you know you're very high on the last episode and night.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm very high right now too, man. Great listen. I
- 0:27Speaker 1: don't know what you think. Fans liked it, though I
- 0:29Speaker 1: saw there was people saying, Zach, don't tell Donald not
- 0:32Speaker 1: to be high. It was funny. I just think when
- 0:34Speaker 1: you get too high, you get quiet, and everyone likes
- 0:36Speaker 1: your your your hilarious personality. I like to be I
- 0:39Speaker 1: like to I like to talk, but sometimes I'm gonna
- 0:42Speaker 1: be honest with you. Zach. You are a driving force
- 0:46Speaker 1: on this podcast, as well as Daniel and Joel and myself,
- 0:50Speaker 1: But you know you are the you are the mouth
- 0:53Speaker 1: of the show us as they say so I hope,
- 0:58Speaker 1: oh absolutely. And the great way, dude, our success is
- 1:01Speaker 1: because of our collective Well, I'm just steering the car.
- 1:04Speaker 1: We're all in the car together. But absolutely, I occasionally
- 1:07Speaker 1: bring us back to the point. Absolutely, And so my
- 1:10Speaker 1: point is sometimes it's all right if I just shut
- 1:13Speaker 1: the funk up, and no, I don't like it when
- 1:14Speaker 1: you shut up. I love the Mandalorian, I'm fine. Did
- 1:19Speaker 1: you watch it yet? I did? I did. It was enjoyable.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Robert Reguez is a fantastic director, and it was. It
- 1:24Speaker 1: did such a good job. Didn't really really really well made? Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 1:30Speaker 1: very well made, and uh you know it's it was.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It was great. But my point is, yeah, you know,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I have nothing to do right now. So other than
- 1:42Speaker 1: other than work. Other than work, which is spread out,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I have nothing other than my kids, which who are
- 1:50Speaker 1: in school. They are in school and then they go
- 1:53Speaker 1: play in some form or fashion. I have nothing. I
- 1:57Speaker 1: do nothing, So you know what I've decided all day,
- 2:03Speaker 1: all right, And I know there are a bunch of
- 2:05Speaker 1: people out there with me. I know you're out there
- 2:07Speaker 1: with me. And if you're growing it, good for you.
- 2:10Speaker 1: If you're paying for it, that sucks ass because I
- 2:13Speaker 1: know how expensive it is. It gives me upset how
- 2:18Speaker 1: expensive the weed industry is. But I will tell you this,
- 2:23Speaker 1: if you're growing it, good for you. Keep growing that stuff. Okay,
- 2:28Speaker 1: this has been a public service ann from Donald Fazon
- 2:31Speaker 1: encouraging you to grow cannabis sativa. It's the new crop,
- 2:37Speaker 1: it's no longer illegal. Federally, go for yours. They're working
- 2:42Speaker 1: on it, Go get it pass. I think I think
- 2:46Speaker 1: what Donald's is saying is please only grow marijuana where
- 2:51Speaker 1: it is legal in your state. Do not attempt. But
- 2:55Speaker 1: I think federally it they're trying to pass the law.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Now it finally made light and they're going to vote
- 3:04Speaker 1: on it, and hopefully if this happens, Oh my goodness, gracious,
- 3:10Speaker 1: it would be great to be able to grow as
- 3:12Speaker 1: much sweet as you want. Well, Donald, let's stop there,
- 3:16Speaker 1: because you live in in Los Angeles, where it is
- 3:19Speaker 1: legal to grow, and yet you don't grow. Why is that.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't have the property, like said some people do. Well,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you could have six pots. You could have the closet
- 3:28Speaker 1: with one pot. Yeah, but that's a lot of electricity.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'd prefer to grow it outside, to be honest with you, Okay,
- 3:34Speaker 1: So if I gave you six ceramic pots, i'd be
- 3:37Speaker 1: I'd be the happiest man. I dare you, I dare you.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I'll give you. I'll give you the soil. Yeah, there
- 3:43Speaker 1: you go, there's six ceramic pots. That's your that's your present.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You're gonna have to take care of them. You have
- 3:47Speaker 1: to do. Listen, man, I'm all about listen. What what
- 3:51Speaker 1: what do we have to do right now? I need
- 3:53Speaker 1: another hobby between this, between animating, cutting plants and smoking
- 3:57Speaker 1: that shit? Are you kidding me? It's gonna be a
- 4:00Speaker 1: right years. Well listen, speaking of plants, I went for
- 4:04Speaker 1: my very first time to a Christmas tree yard. I
- 4:07Speaker 1: have never in forty five years. For those of you
- 4:10Speaker 1: who don't know, I was raised Jewish. My father took
- 4:13Speaker 1: it seriously. I am not a religious person. I am secular,
- 4:19Speaker 1: but my my girlfriend loves Christmas, and so it's my
- 4:22Speaker 1: first year going all out Christmas and I'm going in
- 4:27Speaker 1: good for you my whole life. I've seen family smiling
- 4:31Speaker 1: with the tree on their roof, playing the music, driving home,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and I'm like driving home passing them, being like, Oh,
- 4:39Speaker 1: where the fuck's the minorah is in the garage? Where's
- 4:43Speaker 1: our weird candelabra that we're gonna sing songs at? And
- 4:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna be lighting paper at all, I'm gonna be
- 4:53Speaker 1: lighting the minorah as well. It's going to be a
- 4:56Speaker 1: two faith household. But it was a lot of fun.
- 4:58Speaker 1: It was cute. We like, I picked out the tree,
- 5:01Speaker 1: and how great does it smell when you go to
- 5:03Speaker 1: smells amazing, wonderful. Right, we got an eight foot tall.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I wanted to get like the Grigantian one, but my
- 5:09Speaker 1: ceiling won't allow for that, so we got an eight footer.
- 5:12Speaker 1: He's pretty good. Everybody got their trees. Yet, did you
- 5:15Speaker 1: get your tree? Donald? Yeah? Casey went out and was like,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you know what, I'm sick of picking up pines. And
- 5:21Speaker 1: she got a nice tree. And let me tell you
- 5:23Speaker 1: something right now, it is not real, but it does
- 5:27Speaker 1: the trick. It is beautiful. You walk in at the
- 5:30Speaker 1: end of the year instead of having to sweep up pines,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I just take it apart, put it in a nice
- 5:35Speaker 1: little bag, put it in the closet. Next year. Oh
- 5:38Speaker 1: we need a new tree. Don't fret, go right back
- 5:41Speaker 1: into the closet. I don't like it. I don't like that. Well,
- 5:44Speaker 1: that's because I've had years and years and years of
- 5:47Speaker 1: picking out tree. This is your first time. I know,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I know you. I'm jaded. I'm jaded. I'm jaded. You're
- 5:53Speaker 1: also like, are you one of those people that would
- 5:55Speaker 1: put a fake lawn into Yeah, because then I can
- 5:59Speaker 1: take my golf club and hit off the fake lawn wor.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I know it's good for the water, but I don't
- 6:05Speaker 1: like a fake lawn. Joel and Daniel, are you doing
- 6:08Speaker 1: Christmas trees? Yes? Oh my god. That the only way
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm going to survive the rest of this year was
- 6:14Speaker 1: by getting into Christmas. In mid October. We ordered all
- 6:18Speaker 1: my gifts. They already came. I had a big like
- 6:20Speaker 1: me and my friend wrapped all of our gifts. Last
- 6:23Speaker 1: Saturday was the pictures. We got really pretty paper from
- 6:27Speaker 1: paper source. They went out and got a real tree.
- 6:29Speaker 1: We're gonna do Christmas at their place, the fifteen foot ceilings,
- 6:32Speaker 1: so we got no shit. Oh my gosh, I say,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I saw some of those gargante Win ones and I
- 6:39Speaker 1: had envy. I was like, I want that one, but
- 6:41Speaker 1: I don't have the I don't have the head room.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, you guys. One thing that you gotta
- 6:45Speaker 1: worry about when you get these big gass trees is
- 6:48Speaker 1: throwing them out, and you guys aren't paying. You guys
- 6:51Speaker 1: are thinking about just the glory of the magnific. There's
- 6:55Speaker 1: nothing to be happy about right now, and we can
- 6:58Speaker 1: decorate a tree. It's fun of all. Yes, Second of all,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you live in California, an amazing state, which allows you
- 7:04Speaker 1: to the here's like a disposal drop off places where
- 7:07Speaker 1: you drop off the tree and then they use it.
- 7:10Speaker 1: They're helping with flooding because they just like recycle the
- 7:14Speaker 1: trees after. That's awesome, But how do you get a
- 7:16Speaker 1: nine foot tree to this place? That's the listen when
- 7:19Speaker 1: you're all your friends are cinematographers. They know how to
- 7:22Speaker 1: use cables. They're like, you just grab it into a car,
- 7:24Speaker 1: good to go. It's bongees. If you've paid, if you've
- 7:28Speaker 1: paid before, you can tie a decent knot. If you're
- 7:31Speaker 1: handy with a set of tools, you know what to do.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I'm excited. I'm excited about my tree. And Daniel, are
- 7:38Speaker 1: you doing anything? Family is Jewish. My mom converted to
- 7:41Speaker 1: Judaism for my sisters bot Mitza when she was thirteen,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and since then we have not celebrated Christmas only Hanka. Yeah, no,
- 7:48Speaker 1: no tree anymore. Meet you and it is your girlfriend,
- 7:50Speaker 1: a Jewish gal. She is a Jewish gal as wall
- 7:53Speaker 1: Ye see, I'm on. You know what that means your
- 7:54Speaker 1: kids will get into the Kingdom of yahweh. You know that, right,
- 7:57Speaker 1: that's what I hear. I'm only yeah, I'm only doing
- 8:00Speaker 1: this because of dating a gal who loves Christmas. So
- 8:05Speaker 1: it's my first time really going all out. It's very fun.
- 8:07Speaker 1: It's a fun holiday. Guys. They have the Star of
- 8:10Speaker 1: David Treetopper that that you know, I thought would be
- 8:13Speaker 1: a nice touch. But would you be surprised to know
- 8:16Speaker 1: it's on back order? On on on, of course I
- 8:20Speaker 1: have a question ahead. You'd prefer just one day of
- 8:24Speaker 1: gifts instead of twelve nights of gifts? Yeah? I think
- 8:29Speaker 1: the way we've always done hanaka, even though you know
- 8:33Speaker 1: the concept is that you celebrate eight nights, we always
- 8:36Speaker 1: I mean eight nights, that's what I meant, eight crazy nights.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Eight nights. Yes, So we always did it as a family.
- 8:41Speaker 1: We would just we would, you know, find have one
- 8:43Speaker 1: big honka party night. But we you know, I've always
- 8:46Speaker 1: seen on in movies when people open their Christmas presents
- 8:49Speaker 1: that everyone just does it all at once. My family
- 8:51Speaker 1: doesn't mess with that. Everyone is like someone is opening
- 8:57Speaker 1: pay the tension out of our spec for the What
- 9:01Speaker 1: about you, Donald because I think it's Christmas story that
- 9:04Speaker 1: first planeted this in my mind that the kids come
- 9:07Speaker 1: down and they just ravage the tree and the parents
- 9:09Speaker 1: sit back and sip their coffee. And I was always like, well,
- 9:13Speaker 1: what seems like it's it's funny time, it's a ceremony.
- 9:17Speaker 1: It is definitely a ceremony. The ceremony definitely goes fast
- 9:21Speaker 1: when it's the kids, because they open their present and
- 9:24Speaker 1: they're already like it's like they as soon as the thing,
- 9:27Speaker 1: as soon as they see what it is, they're already
- 9:29Speaker 1: off to the next gift, regardless of if it's something
- 9:33Speaker 1: that they wanted or if it's you know, no matter
- 9:36Speaker 1: what it is, as soon as it's open, where's the
- 9:40Speaker 1: next one? I guess you got to be patient as
- 9:42Speaker 1: you're like, you put a lot of thought and or
- 9:44Speaker 1: money into that present and your kid just opens it
- 9:46Speaker 1: and they're like, Mimmissippi too miss to be toss it next,
- 9:48Speaker 1: And you're like, motherfucker, you know that is that's what happens.
- 9:55Speaker 1: That is, that is that is forever though, you know
- 9:58Speaker 1: what I mean? My grown kids do that shit, now,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean? I remember I bought my
- 10:03Speaker 1: daughter a lovely bracelet. She turned twenty one. It was beautiful. No,
- 10:10Speaker 1: it's turned eighteen. Beautiful. She goes, Oh, wow, it's so beautiful.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I've yet to see her wear it. I don't like that.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And then so I went to her. I was like, Yo,
- 10:22Speaker 1: so what's up with that? You know I bought you
- 10:24Speaker 1: spent a lot of money on that bracelet. Yo, what
- 10:27Speaker 1: what the fuck? She goes, Dad, it's only for when
- 10:30Speaker 1: I go someplace. Do you know how stupid I'll look
- 10:33Speaker 1: walking around. I look like freaking like I'm trying to
- 10:36Speaker 1: be a rapper walking around with all that playing on.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You put so many there's so much diamonds in it.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I feel like a show. I hate when you know what,
- 10:45Speaker 1: I appreciate that. I appreciate that I did this girl
- 10:48Speaker 1: once and I got her. She was in the fancy
- 10:52Speaker 1: handbags and I and I tracked down like this. I mean,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I women in their handbags. I know it's a whole thing.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And I and I've I've gone, I've done a deep
- 11:01Speaker 1: dive in learning, like I know too much about handbags.
- 11:05Speaker 1: But this isn't my this isn't flow my current girlfriend.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But years ago I was getting a girl and she
- 11:09Speaker 1: was in the handbags and I found this like really
- 11:11Speaker 1: hard to get one, and it was like I was
- 11:14Speaker 1: so proud of myself. I was like, I got the
- 11:16Speaker 1: purse that nobody can get. She's gonna be so happy.
- 11:19Speaker 1: And I gave it to her and she was excited
- 11:22Speaker 1: in the moment and I was like, yeah, I came
- 11:24Speaker 1: through like that bag is so hard to get and
- 11:27Speaker 1: then like never saw it, never saw being used, never
- 11:30Speaker 1: saw being used. And then finally at some point I
- 11:33Speaker 1: was like, baby, how can you never like use that
- 11:36Speaker 1: that fancy person I got you? And she's like, oh sweet,
- 11:40Speaker 1: everybody has that bag now, and I was like, I
- 11:45Speaker 1: don't think this relationship is gonna be that's a wrap
- 11:52Speaker 1: right there. Oh man, it really made me feel like
- 11:56Speaker 1: ass where I'm sorry about that. So does anyone need
- 12:00Speaker 1: a pancy person? I do wonder what happened to all
- 12:05Speaker 1: of those bags though, you know what I mean. I
- 12:07Speaker 1: know I've bought a lot of bags in my day. Yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 1: just case you ever wear those. The thing about these
- 12:12Speaker 1: bags is your partner, whoever buys it for you, spends
- 12:15Speaker 1: like all this money on it, and then what they
- 12:18Speaker 1: just like use it once or twice? Right, watch more
- 12:21Speaker 1: than that it's like a season and then you never
- 12:23Speaker 1: see the bag. Yeah, it's a season. You can't wear
- 12:25Speaker 1: that bag. It was that last season's bag. I mean
- 12:28Speaker 1: that's what makes them special. It's like it's like any collectible,
- 12:31Speaker 1: you know, you're excited. Babies can't. I can't play with
- 12:35Speaker 1: that beanie baby anymore. Where where does the bag go? After? Yeah?
- 12:40Speaker 1: Where's the back? Where's on the level of the bag.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Some bags will go into the closet because we know
- 12:47Speaker 1: that they're going to come back into fashion or were
- 12:49Speaker 1: just really like, you know, maybe this's first special outfits
- 12:51Speaker 1: or whatever. Some bags will you know, be resold consignment
- 12:54Speaker 1: shops or sold up if they're like they're really you know,
- 12:57Speaker 1: it sounds like you guys are buying the very expensive
- 13:00Speaker 1: CARDI B level bags. Oh now you know how we do?
- 13:02Speaker 1: So you know how I do? You know how? Yeah?
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, And then some will end up in the trash.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I just feel sad when I buy the bag and
- 13:11Speaker 1: the bag never gets seen. That's very yeah, And it's
- 13:15Speaker 1: the man. You can't be like although I do, you
- 13:18Speaker 1: can't be like hung on. You don't think that the
- 13:21Speaker 1: bag I got you might look good with that, don't
- 13:23Speaker 1: maybe might be nice, be nice with this on psalmble.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Oh baby, that bag is so last season. Oh god,
- 13:32Speaker 1: that would hurt. Should we talk about scrubs? We should,
- 13:35Speaker 1: That's why people tune in, what I know. But before
- 13:38Speaker 1: we do that, I just want to say one thing
- 13:41Speaker 1: six seven eight about sure we made about any around
- 13:57Speaker 1: here yet around here. This was a supersized episode with
- 14:07Speaker 1: a very very big guest star, one of our biggest
- 14:10Speaker 1: in nine years, the living legend Michael J. Fox, my friend.
- 14:15Speaker 1: We tried to get him. I tried via. I was
- 14:19Speaker 1: waiting for the surprise. I thought you were gonna be
- 14:21Speaker 1: like and Dannon was gonna be like, and guys, well
- 14:24Speaker 1: here he's got one more. I'm not giving up yet
- 14:27Speaker 1: because you know Donald that I never give up until
- 14:30Speaker 1: it's over. And I you are not a quitter. I'm
- 14:33Speaker 1: not a quitter. Out a quitter. So we have one
- 14:35Speaker 1: more episode to try trying through his publicist because he's
- 14:38Speaker 1: promoting a book. Obviously Bill sent him an email, but
- 14:42Speaker 1: I don't know. But anyway, we love him. He's Oh
- 14:46Speaker 1: my god, he's so great on the show too. I'm
- 14:49Speaker 1: gonna I don't, I don't, I don't remember what the
- 14:51Speaker 1: show was about. I remember that he was on the show.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I didn't know. I didn't remember this episode at all. Yeah,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I didn't know what the episode was about. And that's
- 14:59Speaker 1: scene in oh our prep room right before the the
- 15:04Speaker 1: you know, before we go into demontage and everything just
- 15:07Speaker 1: so amazing. Let me get my notes and stuff out. Yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 1: I wanted to say that Bill. You know, Bill obviously
- 15:12Speaker 1: wrote this. He wrote this for Michael. He wrote this episode,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and he wrote this for Michael J. Fox, And I think,
- 15:18Speaker 1: you know, it goes without saying, but I'll see it anyway.
- 15:21Speaker 1: He was giving Michael an opportunity, I think, to vent
- 15:27Speaker 1: about his Parkinson's because that wonderful, incredibly acted scene. At
- 15:32Speaker 1: the end, of course, the character is just fucking fed
- 15:37Speaker 1: up and with hiding and trying to control his OCD.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But it's so clearly Michael also the human being having
- 15:45Speaker 1: a moment about, you know, saying fuck you to his Parkinson's.
- 15:50Speaker 1: That's such an It's such such amazing moments. And so
- 15:53Speaker 1: many Michael J. Fox moments too, you know what I mean,
- 15:56Speaker 1: Like there's one As an actor, you I love some
- 16:00Speaker 1: certain things that everybody loves, and Mike has Michael J.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Fox has so like, the list is ridiculous when you
- 16:09Speaker 1: say there are certain things that he does, Like, my
- 16:11Speaker 1: buddy Justin Long does a amazing Michael J. Fox, Like
- 16:18Speaker 1: he's a very good, you know, impressionist, Like he can
- 16:21Speaker 1: impersonate a lot of people. But one of his favorite
- 16:24Speaker 1: movies is Back to the Future, and we he and
- 16:28Speaker 1: I talk about it all the time, and dude, like,
- 16:32Speaker 1: it's not just like there's a reason why Michael J.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Fox was the number one movie star back in the day.
- 16:38Speaker 1: There's so many things. There's so many things that he
- 16:40Speaker 1: brings to the table that he you know, I'm so
- 16:43Speaker 1: happy that we had the opportunity to work with him because,
- 16:48Speaker 1: you know, this was a bucket list type of thing.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I know, I will probably never be in a Back
- 16:53Speaker 1: to the Future movie. The chances of that happening are
- 16:55Speaker 1: slim to none. But being able to work with Michael J. Fox,
- 17:00Speaker 1: somebody who's the reason one of the reasons why I'm
- 17:02Speaker 1: acting today, was a huge deal for me when he
- 17:05Speaker 1: showed up. And so that's saying when he walks into
- 17:07Speaker 1: the lobby, we're all standing there. That's real deal. You
- 17:09Speaker 1: know that it kind of felt like that, you know,
- 17:12Speaker 1: he was kind of inn a fishbowl because we all
- 17:14Speaker 1: kind of were like, I want to see if any
- 17:16Speaker 1: some of his magic will rub off on me. I
- 17:18Speaker 1: was so excited to meet him, right and he you know,
- 17:23Speaker 1: it's amazing as I understand that he really he was
- 17:26Speaker 1: on medication at the time to control his Parkinson's and
- 17:32Speaker 1: we were all we all didn't have to beat, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 1: because we were all so excited, and it was like,
- 17:37Speaker 1: he's so so crucial and and and to to us,
- 17:42Speaker 1: both of us wanting to be actors. I mean, Family
- 17:45Speaker 1: Ties when I was growing up, was the show he
- 17:48Speaker 1: was the star of and his comic timing was like
- 17:50Speaker 1: nobody else I'd ever seen in a in a sitcom,
- 17:54Speaker 1: and and then of course back to the Future, and
- 17:56Speaker 1: he was just the biggest star there was at a
- 17:58Speaker 1: certain point in our lives, and there he was coming
- 18:02Speaker 1: onto our show, and I think we were we didn't
- 18:06Speaker 1: know how to be. We also didn't know how ill
- 18:08Speaker 1: or not he was, so we didn't know how to
- 18:11Speaker 1: be with the Parkinsons of it all. And for the
- 18:14Speaker 1: most part, he was incredibly fine. You know, you can
- 18:16Speaker 1: see that he's he sort of uses his the movements
- 18:20Speaker 1: of the Parkinsons and put it into the character, and
- 18:23Speaker 1: other than a handful of times, I remember Donald that
- 18:25Speaker 1: he said Bill would say like he Michael needs a minute,
- 18:28Speaker 1: he's not feeling great, which maybe happened a few times
- 18:32Speaker 1: in two episodes. He was perfectly fine and capable of
- 18:36Speaker 1: delivering that incredible performance that he that he just did. Yeah,
- 18:42Speaker 1: do you want to do it to thirty second recap? Yes,
- 18:45Speaker 1: let's get into your thirty second recap and then we
- 18:47Speaker 1: will take a break and we will dive into the episode.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Marks gets set go. There's a new doctor in the
- 18:55Speaker 1: house and he knows everything. The Alpha was in the
- 18:58Speaker 1: hospital or threatened by him, but all are impressed with
- 19:01Speaker 1: his skills and abilities. This is the ultimate don't judge
- 19:05Speaker 1: a book by its cover. We're also into our own shit.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Our problem seemed to be so much more important than
- 19:12Speaker 1: other people's. Sometimes I feel like I'm hanging on by
- 19:15Speaker 1: a threat. What I show the world isn't necessarily who
- 19:18Speaker 1: I am. The best version of myself is what I
- 19:22Speaker 1: try to portray, but sometimes inside it's like a tornado.
- 19:28Speaker 1: M So you really related to the Michael J. Fox
- 19:32Speaker 1: character currently? I think everybody relates to that character. Sure,
- 19:37Speaker 1: but you said I so I'm just the well, I said,
- 19:40Speaker 1: I because I don't want to speak for everyone else.
- 19:42Speaker 1: This is a great opportunity for me to for one
- 19:46Speaker 1: to speak for one's self for myself, And so I
- 19:50Speaker 1: did I think that was really well said? Yes, I
- 19:54Speaker 1: bet a lot of people can relate to trying to
- 19:58Speaker 1: put their best face on something when they're really struggling.
- 20:02Speaker 1: There's a line that really stuck with me at the end,
- 20:05Speaker 1: when when he says everyone has their own burdens, and
- 20:10Speaker 1: you never know what anyone else is facing on, what's
- 20:14Speaker 1: going on in their day or what's going on in
- 20:16Speaker 1: their life. Here's a guy who's like a superstar doctor
- 20:19Speaker 1: and he's battling OCD so badly he can barely function,
- 20:23Speaker 1: but then when he zones in. I remember there being
- 20:26Speaker 1: a story about a surgeon who had turetts, who actually
- 20:30Speaker 1: had severe twitching and vocals ticks too, but also lots
- 20:36Speaker 1: of physical ticks, but the second he started surgery, none
- 20:40Speaker 1: of it happened, and he was like a genius surgeon.
- 20:42Speaker 1: And I felt like that that that must have been
- 20:45Speaker 1: something I bet was in Bill's mind as well when
- 20:47Speaker 1: he was writing this, We're Gonna go to break and
- 20:49Speaker 1: when we come back, we are going to break down
- 20:51Speaker 1: the episode. It's a super sized episode. There were two
- 20:54Speaker 1: different commercial breaks. I think this may have been the
- 20:56Speaker 1: first time that ever happened. Would you watch and you
- 20:59Speaker 1: watching it on I? I watched on iTunes and it
- 21:01Speaker 1: was a mistake. I gotta start watching the DVDs because
- 21:03Speaker 1: the whole episode doesn't work if you if if the
- 21:06Speaker 1: end montage song doesn't work, which I had to look
- 21:10Speaker 1: it up, it's coldplays Everything's Not Lost, which is a
- 21:12Speaker 1: fucking beautiful song. Just because I'm losing doesn't mean I'm lost.
- 21:21Speaker 1: That shit is fire songs, that's but that's not the song.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Oh it's not. That's another song called lost. This song
- 21:28Speaker 1: is called Everything's I was like, Everything's not, Like, come on,
- 21:36Speaker 1: I'm not doing it justice, No you're not. And I
- 21:39Speaker 1: was like, I don't know what that was. Everything's not
- 21:42Speaker 1: lost me, I promise you the song sounds better than that.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Everybody listening to the song after the show. It's a
- 21:50Speaker 1: great song, Everything's Not Lost, And it was not in
- 21:53Speaker 1: the iTunes cut that I watched, And so the end
- 21:55Speaker 1: montage did not move me at all because the song
- 21:58Speaker 1: that was there was thrown in by randall as we know,
- 22:02Speaker 1: and not a good song a moment. Okay, we'll be
- 22:05Speaker 1: right back. We'll be right back. Everything's not lost just
- 22:17Speaker 1: because I'm losing. That's another good song, but doesn't mean
- 22:23Speaker 1: I'm lost. I wish I could play it for you
- 22:26Speaker 1: guys right now, but but but it doesn't. I mean
- 22:30Speaker 1: I'm cross. I think how good this show would be
- 22:32Speaker 1: if all of a sudden I could just play the
- 22:34Speaker 1: song we're not allowed to I lost, like bas are
- 22:41Speaker 1: we allowed to play like dude, Daniel what like just
- 22:46Speaker 1: literally a split second of the song. Yeah, aren't allowed
- 22:48Speaker 1: to play like Yeah, it's so like wishy washy, honestly,
- 22:54Speaker 1: jaz real quick, real quick. No, I don't like these rules.
- 22:59Speaker 1: If we were, I wish we were allowed to be
- 23:00Speaker 1: like it now. He's a little snippet of that song.
- 23:02Speaker 1: But we got rules, everybody, guys, we got rules. So
- 23:05Speaker 1: here's some Taylor Swift. No. We got, by the way,
- 23:09Speaker 1: a lot of good feedback on Alaminade's song. Speaking of songs,
- 23:12Speaker 1: we can play a lot of people like alamonade song
- 23:14Speaker 1: fire Man. I'm telling you, guys, I love the man.
- 23:18Speaker 1: He's so grown now and I'm so proud of him.
- 23:22Speaker 1: And find him. We can find him wherever you find music.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Olami da phaise on yo olami day hy o l
- 23:33Speaker 1: oh l a m I d e. I almost forgot
- 23:36Speaker 1: how but if you want to search for his music,
- 23:38Speaker 1: it's the way you spell allamidae is o l A
- 23:41Speaker 1: m I n d no oh l a m I
- 23:45Speaker 1: d e. Okay that, but he's got a lot of
- 23:48Speaker 1: good songs, and he does, but he's really starting for
- 23:52Speaker 1: He's also very charming and h if you think Donald's charming,
- 23:57Speaker 1: oh my gosh. Anyway, get into the show. Your first
- 24:02Speaker 1: joke says why why it got to be color comedy?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Color right? Color commentating? Why I gotta be color commentating?
- 24:11Speaker 1: I didn't remember anything from this episode, made neither. I
- 24:15Speaker 1: also don't think it's a very good episode. I'm gonna
- 24:17Speaker 1: be outlandish and say that you don't think it's a
- 24:20Speaker 1: good episode. Well, I think Michael J. Fox's performance is wonderful,
- 24:24Speaker 1: and I think the Ted Janitor that whole thing with
- 24:27Speaker 1: the garbages and you didn't laugh at the Todd saying
- 24:30Speaker 1: at the Todd saying the xbox joke and then losing
- 24:34Speaker 1: losing the number one status in the hospital but not
- 24:37Speaker 1: giving a shit about that, caring that the xbox joke
- 24:40Speaker 1: didn't land that. Yeah, I'm there's moments I just don't
- 24:43Speaker 1: think it's fully great. But let's talk about laugh at
- 24:46Speaker 1: the janitor and wait, don't throw everything yet. Yes, you're
- 24:50Speaker 1: just gonna now you're just gonna quickly list all the
- 24:52Speaker 1: funny parts. Yes, I agree, there are so many of them.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So Todd says an xbox joke that is a basically
- 24:58Speaker 1: a sexual innuendo calling a vagina an xbox pretty much.
- 25:03Speaker 1: He was like, I'd like to stick my dick in
- 25:05Speaker 1: her xbox pretty much, is what he said, right, But
- 25:07Speaker 1: there's no woman around. So doctor Wenn is like, what
- 25:10Speaker 1: doesn't make any sense? The joke's not even a woman
- 25:12Speaker 1: around that you're making sexual innuendo about, and and and
- 25:16Speaker 1: then simultaneously tells him that he's no longer the best
- 25:19Speaker 1: surgeon in the hospital. And the only thing that the
- 25:22Speaker 1: high five Todd cares about is that he ruined. He
- 25:24Speaker 1: wasted the opportunity for a good xbox sexual innuendo joke. Yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 1: and he obsesses about it the whole show, the whole episode,
- 25:34Speaker 1: the whole episode, the whole episode that was funny that
- 25:37Speaker 1: made me laugh. Bill had the blonde hair that Cox
- 25:42Speaker 1: has in the flashback. So when we do a flashback
- 25:44Speaker 1: to how JD imagines doctor Cox was when he was
- 25:48Speaker 1: in when he was a med student, and he's got
- 25:51Speaker 1: this bleached blonde hair that I'm sure is inspired by
- 25:55Speaker 1: what when Bill was showrunning Spin City, That's what he
- 25:58Speaker 1: looked like he had. That's what he like. He had,
- 26:00Speaker 1: like short bleached blonde party boy fuck boy here by Wait,
- 26:05Speaker 1: what'd you call him a fuck boy? I think isn't
- 26:07Speaker 1: that what I isn't that what they call? Like? What's
- 26:09Speaker 1: a fun boy? Joel? What's the fun boy? I keep
- 26:13Speaker 1: hearing about it? Oh yeah, a fu yeah, stap it. No.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I just love that you you you were prepared to
- 26:22Speaker 1: answer it as intellectually and articulately as if I said, Joel,
- 26:25Speaker 1: how do you explain like the Panama Canal so a
- 26:30Speaker 1: foot boy good basically a boy who's wasting your time.
- 26:35Speaker 1: He's gonna tell you that he cares and is hanging out.
- 26:38Speaker 1: He's gonna tell you that he's on his ship. You know,
- 26:41Speaker 1: he's working hard. He's not doing any of those things.
- 26:44Speaker 1: He doesn't care. He's just out here being lass fair
- 26:46Speaker 1: with everybody else's heart too, all of his commitments. He's
- 26:50Speaker 1: just out here being a fun boy. So he's being
- 26:52Speaker 1: selfish and he's probably misleading a lot of women. A
- 26:54Speaker 1: fuck boy smash, but smashing a lot of Xbox Xbox
- 26:59Speaker 1: as well. He's doing it right, if he's if he's
- 27:02Speaker 1: good at he's a successful fuck boy. He's probably pound
- 27:07Speaker 1: pounding and a lot of Xbox. He's probably sticking. He's
- 27:12Speaker 1: probably sticking his contoystick, his joystick, his controller and an
- 27:16Speaker 1: Xbox yeah or two or three. Yeah. I never knew
- 27:20Speaker 1: really what the definition of fuck boy was, I think
- 27:22Speaker 1: because I guess I could have googled it, but I didn't.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Asking Joel, I think is the best option. Yeah. I
- 27:29Speaker 1: like Joel's definition was the very smart person Donald. Have
- 27:32Speaker 1: you ever been a fuck boy? No? Never in my life.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I like to hustle man, Right, Have I ever played?
- 27:41Speaker 1: Have I ever played? Have I ever played with the
- 27:43Speaker 1: woman's heart before? That's a different story. Yeah, but you've
- 27:46Speaker 1: also married a lot, so you didn't have too much
- 27:48Speaker 1: fuck boy opportunities. No, I didn't. I don't like the
- 27:52Speaker 1: term fuck boy either. Just all I respected. I mean
- 27:55Speaker 1: women had women, and I guess men who date fuck
- 27:59Speaker 1: boys too. I had to come up with a term, like,
- 28:01Speaker 1: there's a term for that. You're wasting my time. You're
- 28:04Speaker 1: making promises that you're not keeping. You're grow uping lots
- 28:08Speaker 1: of xboxes that aren't mine. You're a fuck boy. Stop
- 28:12Speaker 1: texting me late night? You up right, Joel? Yes? I
- 28:16Speaker 1: bet you a fuck boy? Is text a lot of girls?
- 28:18Speaker 1: You up at the same time? All right? So Randall, okay, okay,
- 28:27Speaker 1: Randall is his first first episode is Randall is a janitor.
- 28:30Speaker 1: He's been hired. We don't know why, We don't know
- 28:33Speaker 1: why how he got the job, but Randall has been hired,
- 28:35Speaker 1: and the janitor introduces him as his associate. Right now,
- 28:39Speaker 1: they run really fast by this, But it turns out
- 28:42Speaker 1: the reason they're on the roof is that they go
- 28:44Speaker 1: up there wrestle yea and the winner gets a beer.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And I know this only because Randall burped after right,
- 28:54Speaker 1: It's really random. First of all, they're telling their boss
- 28:57Speaker 1: that they go up to the roof to rustle, and
- 29:00Speaker 1: then we know that Randall, who was one third the
- 29:03Speaker 1: size of Neil, has won the wrestling match. And we
- 29:06Speaker 1: know this because he's burps, because he got his winner's beer.
- 29:10Speaker 1: He's got his winner's beer. So, I mean, this episode
- 29:15Speaker 1: has a lot of really fucking random stoner moments in it.
- 29:17Speaker 1: This was the most ultimate stoner moment. We could come
- 29:20Speaker 1: back to the birds, but this was the most stoner moment. Yeah,
- 29:23Speaker 1: if one more person says one main thing to me,
- 29:27Speaker 1: I swear I'll go and hurl myself off the roof.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Oh shut up, ted Okay, one other person. She didn't know.
- 29:37Speaker 1: She didn't hear the rules. It's it's it's Laverne. She
- 29:41Speaker 1: passes him and she goes, Oh shut up, Teddy goes, Okay,
- 29:43Speaker 1: one more person because she didn't hear the rules. She didn't.
- 29:50Speaker 1: That was funny, dude. We made so many jokes about death,
- 29:54Speaker 1: about people killing themselves on I know, I really I
- 29:57Speaker 1: feel weird just because of the time times and the
- 30:00Speaker 1: current suicide rate even laughing at these jokes. But yes,
- 30:05Speaker 1: there were a lot of There was a lot of
- 30:06Speaker 1: dark humor about ted being suicidal and yeah, and you
- 30:11Speaker 1: know he wants to end it, and he when he
- 30:13Speaker 1: jumps off the roof finally, he says, it's like a
- 30:16Speaker 1: It's like that shot from Doctor Strangelove when when when
- 30:20Speaker 1: you're reminding me of that for those of you who
- 30:22Speaker 1: know and love that movie. If not, you should see it.
- 30:25Speaker 1: But when when he's falling on the nuclear bomb and
- 30:28Speaker 1: so there's the shot of Ted falling, he's like, you
- 30:30Speaker 1: did it, You did it, Teddy. Here comes sweet relief
- 30:35Speaker 1: and he falls into all the garbage, and that we
- 30:39Speaker 1: learned where it was funny. We learned where the janitor
- 30:41Speaker 1: and Randall are hiding the garbage. And he goes is
- 30:44Speaker 1: this heaven? And Neil goes this garbage. That was a
- 30:53Speaker 1: very funny storyline. It the janitor, Kelso and Ted. That
- 30:57Speaker 1: was hilarious. Yeah, yeah, I agree. And I like that
- 31:02Speaker 1: the janitor finally has an assistant because you know, we
- 31:06Speaker 1: we we so far up to this point of assumed
- 31:09Speaker 1: he was cleaning the hospital alone other than the random
- 31:12Speaker 1: background person mopping the rug. Now this fantasy at nine
- 31:20Speaker 1: minutes in, I had absolutely no memory of doing this.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox is operating on my brain while I'm
- 31:27Speaker 1: awake and I speak French. I make all sorts of
- 31:31Speaker 1: weird noises. You don't remember that, no memory of shooting that.
- 31:35Speaker 1: That seems like something you would remember. Yeah, you'd think
- 31:38Speaker 1: I remember being in a bald cap making random noises
- 31:42Speaker 1: because Michael J. Fox is operating on my brain but
- 31:44Speaker 1: I don't remember. Wow wow. So then it's funny. And
- 31:49Speaker 1: they showed Todd trying to re explain his Xbox joke
- 31:52Speaker 1: to Michael J. Fox, and Michael J. Fox goes, can
- 31:58Speaker 1: you go make an important call for me? He goes,
- 32:00Speaker 1: sure to who he goes to, anyone? Anyone, not just that.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Neil says, jamone, shamone, like Michael Jackson. What is he saying?
- 32:11Speaker 1: Because he's like, let's go, you know, because uh, they
- 32:13Speaker 1: get twenty five dollars for hiding for hiding the garbage, right,
- 32:17Speaker 1: and uh would have twenty eight dollars something like that,
- 32:22Speaker 1: and uh he gets the money, and the janitor says
- 32:27Speaker 1: to Randall, now let's go up to roof. Winner takes
- 32:30Speaker 1: all and and d yeah, let's go do it. They
- 32:35Speaker 1: never learn and the janitor goes walks away, goes shamone like,
- 32:40Speaker 1: I didn't know that. I didn't get Jackson reference. That's funny.
- 32:44Speaker 1: He does the Michael Jackson reference. I didn't know that
- 32:46Speaker 1: JD's obsessed with Pirates for I think for the first time,
- 32:49Speaker 1: he brings up Pirates quite a bit. Right, And then
- 32:54Speaker 1: we learned that JD's first girlfriend was a Carnie, right right.
- 33:02Speaker 1: As you fill out your as you figure out, as
- 33:04Speaker 1: you fill out your own the knowledge of JD as
- 33:07Speaker 1: a character. Today, I learned that the guy played for
- 33:09Speaker 1: nine years first girlfriend was a Carnie. I didn't know that.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I forgot that. What else do you get? Did you
- 33:17Speaker 1: really learn that coin trick? I guess so. I'm sure
- 33:22Speaker 1: I practiced that at like a poker table or something
- 33:24Speaker 1: like that. Right, It looked pretty looked pretty good at it.
- 33:27Speaker 1: At the end, you kind of had it down the
- 33:29Speaker 1: thing where you were, you know, Michael J. Fox is
- 33:31Speaker 1: showing that he's doing the coins fast on his hands.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I don't think that was Michael J. Fox. Though they
- 33:36Speaker 1: would have tied it together. They just cut to an
- 33:38Speaker 1: insert of someone doing it really well. I don't know.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I imagine he could do it. I imagine, you know,
- 33:42Speaker 1: in my mind, Michael J. Fox can do anything. You know. Yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 1: I had OCD as a child, not nearly as bad
- 33:48Speaker 1: as this character has it, but I would I would
- 33:51Speaker 1: do the thing with actually spoke about this on the
- 33:53Speaker 1: Mark Marin podcast that that's just there, but I would
- 33:57Speaker 1: do the tapping thing where I would just I would
- 34:00Speaker 1: tell my little kid brain, I'd be like, I'm pretty
- 34:03Speaker 1: sure there's no need to do this, but just to
- 34:06Speaker 1: be safe, I'm going to touch this thing five times.
- 34:10Speaker 1: And if I don't do it five times, I have
- 34:11Speaker 1: to start over. Yeah, okay, it's really horrible. And I
- 34:17Speaker 1: remember I remember even thinking as a little kid, like I,
- 34:23Speaker 1: if I don't like kiss my teddy bear ten times
- 34:25Speaker 1: as I leave my room, something bad might happen. Now
- 34:28Speaker 1: I know that that's ridiculous in my head I'm saying
- 34:31Speaker 1: at the time, but just to be safe, just to
- 34:33Speaker 1: cover my bases, I'm going to do it and then
- 34:35Speaker 1: you and then you'd walk out like, oh I didn't
- 34:38Speaker 1: The tenth kiss was like in the air. It wasn't
- 34:40Speaker 1: on his teddy bear head. So it shit like that, like,
- 34:43Speaker 1: you know, a more mild version of what this poor
- 34:45Speaker 1: character is dealing with. But so I I and I
- 34:48Speaker 1: grew out of that stuff, but I live. I did
- 34:51Speaker 1: experience it as a child. And if you're just hearing that,
- 34:54Speaker 1: you go, what what That doesn't make any sense, But
- 34:57Speaker 1: you convince yourself that you have to do it or
- 34:59Speaker 1: something bad will happen. Sounds very scary. It feels to
- 35:03Speaker 1: me like superstition, you know, like I was a lot
- 35:06Speaker 1: of it. For me at least, was no different than
- 35:08Speaker 1: people feel like, oh my god, I walked under a ladder,
- 35:11Speaker 1: I'm going to have bad luck. It was like how
- 35:13Speaker 1: to prevent you were trying to control? Right? Maybe maybe
- 35:17Speaker 1: maybe the ten minute the cheap fake doctor interpretation I
- 35:22Speaker 1: can do is this many years later, is that I
- 35:24Speaker 1: was growing up in a house and my parents were
- 35:26Speaker 1: going through a sort of a messy divorce, and I
- 35:28Speaker 1: was doing joint custody, and there was no nothing in
- 35:31Speaker 1: my childhood brain that I could control, And maybe perhaps
- 35:38Speaker 1: I was trying to force control onto something like I
- 35:41Speaker 1: can control this, right, what I mean? Yeah, no, I
- 35:44Speaker 1: totally get it. And then once you've finished kissing the
- 35:47Speaker 1: Teddy Bear ten times, would you feel great about Yeah,
- 35:50Speaker 1: you'd have a moment of like if when you finally
- 35:52Speaker 1: nail it, just like the character does when he finally
- 35:54Speaker 1: like sticks the landing of his entrance, you're like, oh, okay,
- 35:57Speaker 1: few until until the next challenge. Wow. You know, obviously
- 36:01Speaker 1: if you have a severe case of this like this
- 36:04Speaker 1: person does, it can There's not just the obsessive part
- 36:07Speaker 1: but there's the compulsion we're cleaning, constantly clean your hands.
- 36:10Speaker 1: You're always afraid that there's This is obviously COVID. Aside
- 36:15Speaker 1: obsessively washing your hands because you're so nervous that there's
- 36:19Speaker 1: there's germans on them. I had that as well. I
- 36:21Speaker 1: imagine COVID. COVID does make people develop OCD in some ways.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Of washing your hands. And I remember when it first started,
- 36:28Speaker 1: I washed my hands religiously, so much so to the
- 36:31Speaker 1: point that they were chapped, and mine are now too.
- 36:34Speaker 1: But I think, yeah, you can. I think that'll give you.
- 36:37Speaker 1: That'll give you a tiny semblance of what it's like
- 36:39Speaker 1: if you're in COVID now and you're constantly worried that
- 36:42Speaker 1: there's germs on your hands. It's like that, but all
- 36:44Speaker 1: the time, it's like taking a shower every time you
- 36:47Speaker 1: go out the house, you know what I mean. Like
- 36:49Speaker 1: if I go out the house, once I get back,
- 36:51Speaker 1: I'm like, I should take I should probably take a shower,
- 36:53Speaker 1: just to be safe, you know what I mean. And
- 36:55Speaker 1: then after the shower has done, it's like I have
- 36:57Speaker 1: my shield, my shield from thanks to Dawn, I have
- 37:00Speaker 1: my shield, you know what I mean? Are you doing
- 37:02Speaker 1: that are you showering every time you leave the house,
- 37:05Speaker 1: every time you come back in from the house. Damn
- 37:07Speaker 1: near pretty much. If I go to like let's say
- 37:09Speaker 1: I take let's say I go to the supermarket. When
- 37:11Speaker 1: I come back, I washed my body. It just sounds
- 37:14Speaker 1: it just sounds normal to do. For some reason, I
- 37:17Speaker 1: don't know, but it just seems like that's the right
- 37:20Speaker 1: thing to do. And I think it was because of
- 37:21Speaker 1: somebody who said, you have to treat this like they
- 37:26Speaker 1: treated Ebola. This was a doctor that said it. He
- 37:28Speaker 1: said he would come home, wash his clothes and body
- 37:33Speaker 1: outside and then go inside once COVID started. And so
- 37:37Speaker 1: when he said that, I was like, okay, I'll try that.
- 37:41Speaker 1: And then also with the wiping down the groceries and stuff, yeah,
- 37:45Speaker 1: we do that too. We still do that, even though
- 37:48Speaker 1: they say surface you know, getting it that way is
- 37:52Speaker 1: very difficult, but it worked when we started, and so
- 37:54Speaker 1: we're sticking to it. Yeah, we still wash all the
- 37:57Speaker 1: groceries when we like, like spray him and and wash
- 38:00Speaker 1: them down, let me bring them back in the house.
- 38:03Speaker 1: I mean, even if it's even if some people think
- 38:06Speaker 1: that's extreme, you know, I guess we're extreme. Yeah, still
- 38:09Speaker 1: do it every time too. I'm right there with you. Yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Ken By the elevator was hilarious, where where he's talking
- 38:18Speaker 1: to you and then the elevator opens and he's like,
- 38:21Speaker 1: I will give you money if you can tell me
- 38:23Speaker 1: where the trash is, and you cover for the and
- 38:26Speaker 1: JD covers for the janitor, and as the doors closing,
- 38:30Speaker 1: he goes, thank you, and then he turned on he goes, huh,
- 38:33Speaker 1: and then somebody else comes and he goes, well, it's
- 38:35Speaker 1: this great timing by Ken. Like you, there's certain there's
- 38:40Speaker 1: certain things that happen, and it's that you take for granted,
- 38:42Speaker 1: like you know, beats like that are hard to come
- 38:44Speaker 1: by in television, you know, uh, And you take it
- 38:49Speaker 1: for granted. Good comedic moments that are simple like that
- 38:54Speaker 1: are hard to come by. And it has on the
- 38:56Speaker 1: cut too, I mean, you know the way not only
- 39:00Speaker 1: is it Kenn's timing, but it's also the timing of
- 39:02Speaker 1: cutting the camera angle right. It's it's so quick witted
- 39:07Speaker 1: and I mean it's just like it's got a it's
- 39:08Speaker 1: got a really funny pace to it, right. But that helps,
- 39:11Speaker 1: you know, that helps with a show that you said,
- 39:14Speaker 1: you know at the beginning didn't necessarily have that many
- 39:17Speaker 1: funny moments. That's a moment that you can manufacture something
- 39:21Speaker 1: with cuts and a genius actor like Ken Jenkins. I
- 39:27Speaker 1: I know you mentioned it, but I just thought that
- 39:30Speaker 1: the end monologue with Michael J. Fox was was just
- 39:32Speaker 1: really moving. I thought, he it just showed what a
- 39:35Speaker 1: wonderful actor he is. I mean, he's known for his
- 39:37Speaker 1: comedy and you know, first and foremost, I think, but
- 39:42Speaker 1: he's such a wonderful dramatic actor. Yeah, the scream of
- 39:46Speaker 1: frustration I felt that. I remember it happened, and I
- 39:50Speaker 1: sat up and looked at my wife, who was watching
- 39:53Speaker 1: the show with me, and I was like, holy shit,
- 39:55Speaker 1: I didn't we I never knew that we had. This
- 39:59Speaker 1: is one of those scenes that you wish for. You know,
- 40:02Speaker 1: there there are a lot of great Michael J. Fox moments.
- 40:06Speaker 1: One of my favorites is when and Family ties, when
- 40:09Speaker 1: he's writing a letter to his first girlfriend after he's
- 40:12Speaker 1: met this new girl and they're going through the montage
- 40:15Speaker 1: and the music's playing and he found a way to
- 40:18Speaker 1: write this Ladier whatever her name was, and he finds
- 40:22Speaker 1: a way to write this, you know, to tell this
- 40:25Speaker 1: to do this great monologue and still have comedy in it,
- 40:29Speaker 1: and you know, this was one of those moments where
- 40:31Speaker 1: there was none of it. And when he says this
- 40:34Speaker 1: is a weak moment for me, that ship was like,
- 40:37Speaker 1: you know, I pray, I pray that I'm never caught
- 40:42Speaker 1: in weak moments like those are those are for me
- 40:45Speaker 1: and me alone. And JD witnesses an icon in this
- 40:50Speaker 1: hospital's weak moment, and you know it shows what kind
- 40:55Speaker 1: of a man JD is too. He knows, okay, this
- 40:58Speaker 1: is between the two of us, because that's just one
- 41:00Speaker 1: of those things where you could go around and be like, look, man,
- 41:03Speaker 1: this ship is really hard. All of them see it. Actually,
- 41:05Speaker 1: you know, Cox sees it, and Turk sees it as well.
- 41:09Speaker 1: They all see this guy, and you know, I don't know.
- 41:14Speaker 1: It's just I pray that that never happens to me.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I pray that a bunch of people don't see me
- 41:20Speaker 1: at my weakest. You know, your friends can see you
- 41:23Speaker 1: at your weakest, you can allow Yeah, but JD's not this.
- 41:26Speaker 1: JD's not this guy. So you're seeing you're saying, you're
- 41:29Speaker 1: your co workers that you barely know. You don't want
- 41:31Speaker 1: you to see. I don't want your guard down. No,
- 41:34Speaker 1: I get it. I can't wait here. Quick break everybody,
- 41:37Speaker 1: and we'll be back with a very excited guess. We'll
- 41:39Speaker 1: be right back. And where bad? Where bad? All right? Stop,
- 42:05Speaker 1: I'm ready. You know, Hanaka is coming up, and uh,
- 42:09Speaker 1: would you get me? I'm gonna get you one present
- 42:13Speaker 1: for both Hanka and S five. No, I don't know
- 42:20Speaker 1: how to get a PS five frame my heart, but
- 42:25Speaker 1: but I'm gonna. I'm gonna get into my my oculus too. Finally,
- 42:30Speaker 1: ship good Man, and then we can all go to
- 42:33Speaker 1: the movies. Let's watch Woman, Let's watch one of the
- 42:36Speaker 1: Woman on Christmas Day together. Well, that's a good idea,
- 42:39Speaker 1: although I don't know if my girlfriend will be down
- 42:41Speaker 1: with me going into the corner and my virtual reality
- 42:43Speaker 1: goggles on christ I two have playoffs with my family
- 42:46Speaker 1: on Christmas Day, but I appreciate it. S family watch
- 42:48Speaker 1: movies with us, all right, let the guest in. Let's
- 42:51Speaker 1: talk to this coming in and say hi, say hi
- 42:53Speaker 1: to Alex. Give it up for hello God. Yeah, although
- 43:01Speaker 1: I don't know that. I don't know if Oprah has
- 43:03Speaker 1: that low baritone, but okay, I think it's called as
- 43:08Speaker 1: a French accentence. Alex, alright, no, they like unlatched, Okay,
- 43:19Speaker 1: everything babies. They're not only latch. They're fucking walking out
- 43:21Speaker 1: of the room. Some of them can walk at. They
- 43:23Speaker 1: fucking chose this moment to walk at. They threw the
- 43:26Speaker 1: titty down, down, They threw the titty down and jumped
- 43:30Speaker 1: down and walked out of the fucking room. Fucking took
- 43:32Speaker 1: the titty away from me. And the mom's like, and
- 43:34Speaker 1: the mom's like, honey, he's only a week old, and
- 43:37Speaker 1: baby's like, get out of here with that titty shit.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Alex Cardier, that's Alex. Are you French, my friend? I'm French. Yes, welcome.
- 43:47Speaker 1: I think you're our first French guest. Thunderous applause. Dam
- 43:53Speaker 1: Are you in French right now as we speak? I
- 43:57Speaker 1: am not. No, I've moved out of the country, moved
- 44:00Speaker 1: to a very exciting location that they think you guys like.
- 44:03Speaker 1: So I live in Amsterdam now. Like Amsterdam because that's
- 44:08Speaker 1: where they have lots of jazz lettuce and Donald loves
- 44:10Speaker 1: jazz lettuce. But I got lots of jazz lettics in
- 44:12Speaker 1: California now too. I know I Amsterdam has lost its
- 44:15Speaker 1: appeal to people like Donald and he can he can
- 44:17Speaker 1: get he can get Gonja real close to his house,
- 44:21Speaker 1: but they don't got the red light district. That that
- 44:23Speaker 1: in itself is a adventure. Yeah, we walked through the
- 44:27Speaker 1: red light district Donald not not to shopping. For those
- 44:31Speaker 1: of you who wonder, we were just taking in the
- 44:33Speaker 1: tourism it was. How is it? It's a very surreal
- 44:38Speaker 1: experience on earth to to to take in. I've never
- 44:42Speaker 1: seen anything quite like it. I think it's something you
- 44:45Speaker 1: do once. And yeah, I think that was enough. Yeah,
- 44:47Speaker 1: you don't really want to go back, right, it felt
- 44:49Speaker 1: sort of horrible. Actually, But unless you, unless you, unless
- 44:53Speaker 1: you met somebody and you know you frequent the situation. Yeah,
- 44:58Speaker 1: I don't. I listen, and I'm wrong with getting the
- 45:00Speaker 1: paycheck and being like I need to put fifteen aside
- 45:03Speaker 1: for Harriet. You're saying for your for in this scenario,
- 45:09Speaker 1: Harriet is his favorite call girl that's in a window. Well,
- 45:14Speaker 1: I don't know if he calls. I think he just
- 45:16Speaker 1: knocks on the window. Well, Barry Day, back in the day,
- 45:21Speaker 1: calling meant showing up as well as using the phone.
- 45:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna go call on Harriet, which would mean you're
- 45:27Speaker 1: gonna go visit Harriet. All right, mister Cordier, welcome to
- 45:31Speaker 1: the program, all the way from Amsterdam. Do you have
- 45:34Speaker 1: a question for any of us, and that could include
- 45:36Speaker 1: the legendary Daniel and Joel, not just a phase on it.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I yes, I do have a question. So based on
- 45:45Speaker 1: the show I've started watching Ted Lesso, which I thought
- 45:48Speaker 1: was amazing. I really enjoyed the show. And in the
- 45:52Speaker 1: middle of the show, and there's maybe here my spoil
- 45:55Speaker 1: ardert there is at some point a breakup scene and
- 45:59Speaker 1: what chings this breakup scene? I thought it was so
- 46:02Speaker 1: well done, like the feelings I was feeling everything. It
- 46:06Speaker 1: made me wonder, what do you guys think is the
- 46:10Speaker 1: best breakup scene? Slash also love story in TV and
- 46:15Speaker 1: movie history? Oh, great question, I have two. Well, so
- 46:20Speaker 1: I have a great everybody knows I love La La Land.
- 46:24Speaker 1: All right, that is that's a great love story. Has
- 46:27Speaker 1: a pretty decent breakup scene, because that's sometimes how breakups happen,
- 46:31Speaker 1: where it's just like you don't see it coming and
- 46:33Speaker 1: then all of a sudden you're no longer together. But
- 46:37Speaker 1: it is not my all time favorite. Alex that us
- 46:41Speaker 1: mister Cordier, Yeah, go ahead. When Harry met Sally. It's
- 46:47Speaker 1: my opinion of a flawless love story. I could watch
- 46:51Speaker 1: that movie now. I could watch it. I watched it
- 46:54Speaker 1: so many times as a kid when I was growing up,
- 46:58Speaker 1: but now I watch it and it still holds up.
- 47:01Speaker 1: When Harry met Sally still to this day, one of
- 47:04Speaker 1: my favorite love stories of all time. But he said
- 47:06Speaker 1: breakup scene specifically, didn't you, Alex Quay have a great
- 47:09Speaker 1: They have a great breakup scene where Billy Crystal is
- 47:12Speaker 1: eating salad. Okay, I My first thing that comes to
- 47:18Speaker 1: my mind is Anny Hall, because it's a it's a
- 47:20Speaker 1: favorite movie of mine, and it's a movie I was
- 47:23Speaker 1: raised on, and I thought it was such an honest
- 47:26Speaker 1: take on how how sometimes a breakup can happen and
- 47:33Speaker 1: you not either one of you really wants it to happen,
- 47:36Speaker 1: but you kind of reached the end of your of
- 47:40Speaker 1: the road. There's kind of nowhere else to go for
- 47:43Speaker 1: for whatever horrible reasons. You could still even be in love,
- 47:47Speaker 1: but there's just too many obstacles and and and and
- 47:50Speaker 1: too many roadblocks and and at the end of any Hall,
- 47:55Speaker 1: there's this moment where he meets up with her again
- 48:00Speaker 1: to have coffee, and it's so sad you know that
- 48:05Speaker 1: they're not going to get back together. Sorry spoilers, but
- 48:07Speaker 1: if you haven't seen any hall by now, you should
- 48:09Speaker 1: still go see it. But but it's it's heartbreaking because
- 48:14Speaker 1: we've all been there where you you know, you're sitting
- 48:17Speaker 1: with an ex partner and there's all those feelings could
- 48:20Speaker 1: be still there, but you know it's probably not gonna
- 48:22Speaker 1: you're not gonna get back together, and you both walk
- 48:24Speaker 1: off and smile. And I just thought that's really a
- 48:28Speaker 1: beautiful articulation of of a breakup that where it's not like, oh,
- 48:34Speaker 1: someone wronged me and it's over and fuck that person,
- 48:36Speaker 1: where there's still all those feelings. It's just circumstance. The
- 48:40Speaker 1: right we weren't in the right place at the right time,
- 48:41Speaker 1: and so circumstance breaks you up. Circum well, circum that's
- 48:45Speaker 1: a different story. But usually when you break up with somebody,
- 48:47Speaker 1: all of those feelings that you had that you're talking
- 48:50Speaker 1: about that the good feelings, there's just as many of
- 48:53Speaker 1: those feelings the bad feelings, and the minute one of
- 48:55Speaker 1: those things happened, you remember right away, and that's why
- 48:58Speaker 1: we broke up right then and there, I know, But
- 49:00Speaker 1: how do you ever had a break up Donald, I mean,
- 49:02Speaker 1: of course, every I'm sure most people listening have had
- 49:04Speaker 1: the bad breakup kind. We're like, fuck that person, they
- 49:06Speaker 1: did something wrong and there's just too much and you
- 49:08Speaker 1: argue too much. You remember, I'm talking about the kind
- 49:10Speaker 1: where it's like, you know what, this isn't gonna work out,
- 49:14Speaker 1: probably because of logistics and circumstances or whatever. But I'm
- 49:19Speaker 1: not friends with any of my ex girlfriends. Okay, I
- 49:24Speaker 1: can't be friends either. Yeah, so what's You're done? You're
- 49:26Speaker 1: done so far, so far in my life, it has
- 49:29Speaker 1: not happened. Yeah. So, Alex, are you saying that because
- 49:35Speaker 1: they feelings are still too it would be too impossible
- 49:38Speaker 1: to just be a friend with them. Yeah, you don't
- 49:42Speaker 1: hang out with your exes? Yeah? Yeah, exactly. I mean
- 49:45Speaker 1: I'm not trying to hang out with them. Go ahead, Alex, Sorry, right, No,
- 49:48Speaker 1: I mean staying friends for me? Does? It doesn't make sense?
- 49:50Speaker 1: You know, Like I have enough friends in my life
- 49:53Speaker 1: that I don't want to stay friends with my ex partner.
- 49:57Speaker 1: I don't see the point training Yeah, I agree. I
- 50:00Speaker 1: don't mean to imply that I'm buddy buddy well my excess.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I just mean that he asked for a breakup in
- 50:05Speaker 1: a film that was most impact That was the most
- 50:07Speaker 1: impactful to me, And I guess it was that one
- 50:09Speaker 1: because I in a in a way in a sense
- 50:12Speaker 1: like since Donald always references La la land, you kind
- 50:14Speaker 1: of help can't help but think like oh, but like,
- 50:16Speaker 1: oh man, if the stars are aligned, they're so perfect
- 50:18Speaker 1: for each other, and I really am rooting for them together.
- 50:21Speaker 1: But this is sort of satisfying and unique as a
- 50:25Speaker 1: cinema experience that they're not going to be together, because
- 50:28Speaker 1: that feels real and that feels life as opposed to
- 50:30Speaker 1: us as a happy ending. And I felt that with
- 50:33Speaker 1: Annie Hall, how about you, Joel h Yeah, Blue Valentine
- 50:38Speaker 1: is the most impactful. Oh my god, another right completely
- 50:45Speaker 1: blank with no idea what was going to happen. And
- 50:47Speaker 1: then at the end, I was a mess of a
- 50:50Speaker 1: human being, you know, because it's, oh my gosh, like
- 50:55Speaker 1: the way that movie deconstructs a relationship and shows not
- 50:59Speaker 1: just the the emotional struggle, but like a kid was involved,
- 51:04Speaker 1: and like, how do you walk away from a child
- 51:05Speaker 1: who's only known you as a parent when you can
- 51:07Speaker 1: no longer be with the mom and you're not that
- 51:10Speaker 1: child's biological parent. Like he was hard, he was all
- 51:14Speaker 1: in until he found out he wasn't the parent. He
- 51:16Speaker 1: was still willing to fight until he found out he
- 51:18Speaker 1: wasn't the parent, and then he was like, you know what,
- 51:21Speaker 1: that's it. I have nothing to hold on too. I
- 51:23Speaker 1: mean that whole hotel scene, like right at the end
- 51:25Speaker 1: where they're not sure if they're trying to fight or
- 51:28Speaker 1: like have sex or make love. Like it's so much
- 51:31Speaker 1: chaos in like them trying to stay together that you're
- 51:35Speaker 1: almost relieved when they break up and it you're so heartbroken.
- 51:38Speaker 1: That movie's a lot. I watched it one time. I'll
- 51:39Speaker 1: never watch it again. I was my heart can't take
- 51:42Speaker 1: things like this, but it was good to me. Powerful.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Another one for those of those for me was Manchester
- 51:48Speaker 1: by the Sea. You see the Oh boy nap after
- 51:52Speaker 1: that film. Yeah, it's a very very very hard movie
- 51:54Speaker 1: to watch without without spoilers, I'll just tiptoe around and
- 51:58Speaker 1: see the film. It's it's a very powerful story. But
- 52:01Speaker 1: when two ex lovers years later run into each other
- 52:05Speaker 1: Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams, they've been apart a long
- 52:10Speaker 1: time and she has a new baby and they run
- 52:12Speaker 1: into each other on the street, and I think one
- 52:15Speaker 1: of the most painful scenes in many years, what about you,
- 52:27Speaker 1: sir Daniel. I am admittedly having trouble coming up with
- 52:32Speaker 1: a satisfying answer. But what I will use as an
- 52:34Speaker 1: example of what I think of as heartbreak is in
- 52:38Speaker 1: a Simpsons episode Lisa's substitute, when her teacher played by
- 52:43Speaker 1: Dustin Hoffman so empowers her to be herself, to be someone,
- 52:49Speaker 1: to just come into her own and when he is
- 52:52Speaker 1: no longer the substitute teacher and he's getting on the
- 52:55Speaker 1: train and she's like, wait, where are you going? I
- 52:57Speaker 1: need you, and he gives her the note that says
- 53:02Speaker 1: anytime you need me, just look at this note. It
- 53:05Speaker 1: says you are Lisa Simpson. And that is just such
- 53:08Speaker 1: a beautiful It was a beautiful departure, a beautiful relationship
- 53:14Speaker 1: moving apart at that moment. And it's not it's of
- 53:16Speaker 1: course not a romantic relationship, and it's a very it's
- 53:19Speaker 1: different than a usual breakup. But that was such a
- 53:22Speaker 1: heart breaking moment for me. And what is you know,
- 53:27Speaker 1: a comedic show traditionally, and that's my favorite. Well, that
- 53:30Speaker 1: was great. You gave me, You gave me full body
- 53:31Speaker 1: goose bumps when you said that, so it must have
- 53:33Speaker 1: been good live it was pretty great, man. I love movies.
- 53:38Speaker 1: All right, sir, mister Coldier, Monsieur Cordier, it's time for
- 53:44Speaker 1: the everyone, every French person in Amsterdam's favorite segment. It's
- 53:50Speaker 1: time too fix your life? All right? How can we
- 53:56Speaker 1: help you, sir? We're here to help free therapy also. Well.
- 54:00Speaker 1: First of all, I want to to say that I've
- 54:02Speaker 1: been listening to you guys in the beginning of the podcast,
- 54:04Speaker 1: really really loving the show us you Mary and you know.
- 54:11Speaker 1: So it's it's helping, you know, through the day. But
- 54:15Speaker 1: I feel like at the time I'm really going in
- 54:17Speaker 1: circles in my apartment. I'm running out of things to do.
- 54:21Speaker 1: I tried new things. I tried learning Dutch, for example,
- 54:25Speaker 1: which is good for I mean, I've been living in
- 54:28Speaker 1: the country for seven years and I didn't really speak
- 54:30Speaker 1: any touch. So I'm getting there. But it's more, you know, now,
- 54:34Speaker 1: getting active and fighting the routine. Do you guys have
- 54:38Speaker 1: any advice? I got great advice for you. Right before
- 54:41Speaker 1: you answer, Are you allowed to go out in amsterday?
- 54:43Speaker 1: We are allowed to go out here. I mean everything
- 54:45Speaker 1: is closed bos and restaurants are closed, so there's not
- 54:48Speaker 1: much to do. But we are allowed. You're allowed to
- 54:50Speaker 1: walk around, and it's not like Paris where you need
- 54:54Speaker 1: to note no. No, Alright, go ahead, I've got great
- 54:57Speaker 1: news for you. He doesn't want to not We're not.
- 55:01Speaker 1: We're not just coming on Tuesdays anymore. We're coming on Thursdays. Now,
- 55:05Speaker 1: that's great. Ye are here to help you. That we
- 55:08Speaker 1: are here to help you in that way we're gonna be.
- 55:11Speaker 1: People got really mad when we went down to one.
- 55:13Speaker 1: We had we let people down. I didn't have anything
- 55:17Speaker 1: to catch up on anymore. Like I was following the
- 55:19Speaker 1: one a week easily to a week. I always had
- 55:22Speaker 1: some backup, but I was missing that. Yeah, well we're
- 55:25Speaker 1: coming back at you with the next room one to
- 55:27Speaker 1: distract you for at least an hour and a half
- 55:31Speaker 1: at the most an hour or two hours. Uh so
- 55:36Speaker 1: there's that second dude, you gotta get out and you
- 55:39Speaker 1: gotta freaking uh switch up the routine. I know the
- 55:43Speaker 1: routine might be just getting out and do something. It
- 55:45Speaker 1: really can be as simple as going a different way
- 55:47Speaker 1: on your walk, you know, taking a different route. Yeah,
- 55:53Speaker 1: you run out of a lot of things that you
- 55:54Speaker 1: run out of things to do. But what's great is
- 55:56Speaker 1: that sometimes some of the things that you did in
- 55:58Speaker 1: the beginning that you aren't doing anymore, we like to
- 56:01Speaker 1: revisit those. Like we were playing a lot of basketball
- 56:04Speaker 1: in the beginning, and then we stopped, and now we're
- 56:06Speaker 1: starting to play basketball again in our house. And so
- 56:09Speaker 1: there's you know, there's yeah, as mundane as it sounds,
- 56:15Speaker 1: as the route, as as as routine as everything sounds,
- 56:19Speaker 1: you have to figure out a way to chop it
- 56:22Speaker 1: up and switch it up. And what about learning an
- 56:25Speaker 1: instrument that's great for me, that's great. I don't know, Alex.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I don't talking to Alex, not you, Alex. I'm just
- 56:34Speaker 1: trying to I'm just trying to pitch ideas. Because you
- 56:36Speaker 1: have the fortitude and the and the conviction to start
- 56:39Speaker 1: learning a language, which means you're at least able to
- 56:42Speaker 1: commit to a new thing and and and learn it.
- 56:46Speaker 1: I don't know about you, but I always wish I
- 56:47Speaker 1: could put the piano, and I started and and then
- 56:51Speaker 1: I got a job and got distracted and stopped learning
- 56:53Speaker 1: how to put the piano. So I've been thinking lately
- 56:57Speaker 1: that I'm you know, we're going to be in the
- 57:01Speaker 1: a lot longer. It might be good to take on
- 57:03Speaker 1: something brand new, Like it's like a new chapter of Quarantine.
- 57:06Speaker 1: In this chapter, I'm going to start piano lessons back
- 57:09Speaker 1: up again, which I'm sure you can do over zoom
- 57:11Speaker 1: or something like that. I mean, that's just an idea,
- 57:13Speaker 1: because who the heck doesn't want to play an instrument?
- 57:15Speaker 1: Oh no, good da. I mean, one of the things
- 57:17Speaker 1: I missed most about regular life, let's say, is bodying.
- 57:21Speaker 1: I'm still He's a great place for for clubbing, and
- 57:23Speaker 1: I really like techno music, so I was thinking, you know,
- 57:26Speaker 1: why not start trying to dj or that's a great idea.
- 57:31Speaker 1: That's a great idea, Daniel, Dan support, Daniel support on
- 57:34Speaker 1: that one. Daniel, Do you like techno? I adore techno.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I was an electronic house music DJ before I before
- 57:41Speaker 1: I started, you know, in the podcasting world, and unfortunately
- 57:44Speaker 1: Amsterdam was a place I never got to go to
- 57:46Speaker 1: for performance. I have visited. It was one of my
- 57:48Speaker 1: favorite places, but DJing was a lot of fun. I
- 57:51Speaker 1: would say, start putting together music that you like to
- 57:54Speaker 1: listen to and start analyzing it, thinking about your music
- 57:57Speaker 1: in a different way, start thinking about it instead of
- 58:00Speaker 1: just oh, I like the song, where I like this song,
- 58:01Speaker 1: start thinking about like how fast is this song? And
- 58:04Speaker 1: what other songs are the same speed, And all of
- 58:07Speaker 1: a sudden you'll put together a playlist of ten to
- 58:09Speaker 1: fifteen songs that can all seamlessly work together, played one
- 58:12Speaker 1: after another, and start to make your djaying, start to
- 58:15Speaker 1: make it real before you even pick up a set
- 58:17Speaker 1: of decks. Just start putting together songs. You're like, I
- 58:20Speaker 1: like these songs, and then you realize that they all
- 58:21Speaker 1: work together. And then once you step up to the decks,
- 58:23Speaker 1: the whole process is so much easier. And Daniel, if
- 58:25Speaker 1: you wanted to get, like, what's a relatively inexpensive deck
- 58:29Speaker 1: that he could get if you wanted to like practice
- 58:32Speaker 1: at home, I would say that, you know, unfortunately djaying
- 58:37Speaker 1: is in general kind of prohibitively expensive. There are very
- 58:41Speaker 1: cheap plastic decks so you can get for companies like
- 58:43Speaker 1: Newmark Pioneer has the DDJ four hundred and all of
- 58:46Speaker 1: their DDJ lineup or things you can plug into your
- 58:48Speaker 1: laptop and they work great with Serato or record box.
- 58:51Speaker 1: That said, in my personal opinion, I would just spring
- 58:55Speaker 1: for the x DJ RX. It is a one thousand
- 58:58Speaker 1: dollar djaying device. It is all in one. It is
- 59:02Speaker 1: the decks, it's the mixer and you just plug it
- 59:04Speaker 1: into a speaker system and it's it's all there. You
- 59:06Speaker 1: don't need a laptop, you don't need another device, and
- 59:09Speaker 1: the way that you use it, it allows you to practice.
- 59:11Speaker 1: If you say, wanted to DJ at an actual club,
- 59:14Speaker 1: or if your friend had a set of CDJs and
- 59:16Speaker 1: you want to go over there, you bring your USB,
- 59:18Speaker 1: you pop it in and it's the same thing that
- 59:19Speaker 1: you were doing on your device at home. Well, that's
- 59:22Speaker 1: very that's very And aren't there apps as well? Like
- 59:24Speaker 1: if he doesn't have the a thousand bucks right now,
- 59:27Speaker 1: what's a good app? He could practice on record box
- 59:29Speaker 1: and Serato, record box with serato, or to say record
- 59:33Speaker 1: box and serato you beat me to it? Yes, I
- 59:35Speaker 1: was going to say Serato and then record box, but yes,
- 59:40Speaker 1: well there you go, dude. You are going to learn Dutch.
- 59:43Speaker 1: You were going to become the most badass techno DJ.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And you know what's going to happen, Alex when you're
- 59:48Speaker 1: living your best life at the club DJing and you're
- 59:50Speaker 1: surrounded by all the fun people in your life. And
- 59:53Speaker 1: COVID's over, you're gonna go. Thank fuck. I learned how
- 59:56Speaker 1: to become a badass techno DJ during quarantine. Not only that,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Not only that, he's not only gonna learn Dutch, and
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: he's not only gonna be a DJ, he's also going
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: to pick up the piano. He's gonna learn how to
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: play the piano well his DJ set. He's gonna drop
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: in with the little piano solo Liberachi style and then
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: bring the beat back right. That's pretty. Then to face
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: the routine, I will buy the golf semenator. There you get,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: he's got golf simulator money, Then go get that fucking thing.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Da go get sick. So you're welcome. You're welcome, sir,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Welcome Alex. When you're when you're your life has been fixed.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: You know why? We just gave you at least two
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: fun new hobbies to take on and and when and
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: when COVID's over, you're gonna go. If it wasn't for COVID,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I wouldn't be exing my face off with this beautiful
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: model right now. Wow, love it. You're all right? Listen,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: I think we did the show. But yeah, we did
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: the show. So Alex you can stay for the end,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: stay for the outro. Yeah, you get to stay for
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: the Actually, because you're gonna be a DJ, you're gonna
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: need to practice counting into your techno track. Yes, Actually, Daniel,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: do you have any like public domain techno tracks we
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: could lay down here? I can certainly find one. Okay,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: Daniel's gonna lay down some techno track right here, all right,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: and it's gonna what kind of beat permitted, Donald, Daniel,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: what do you think the be permitt ding ding ding
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: ding ding ding ding ding. That's pretty fast. Let's say like,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: let's say like one twenty eight eight doesn't have to
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: match the the No, but he can do it. He
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: can do halftime. I can make it. I can make
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: it work. Baby don't want Yeah, all right, so there
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: we go. You done anyway? Whenever I want to make
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: fun of whenever I want to make fun of that,
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: this kind of music, I don't even know the difference
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: between all these types of fucking club house techno. So
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I just go thing low. I went to Loim. Tell
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: me to loom is beautiful, but don't go in New
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Year's if you don't want to hear at breakfast and
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: then and then like mother, don't tell me you want me.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I don't want to hear yes on Alex. All right,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: so Daniel's got the track going. Alex, this is your
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: very first set. You're gonna count us into our theme song.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Thank you everybody for listening. We love you very much.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: We'll see you next time. Here me go count us
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: in Alex sories about shore we made about a bunch
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: of docs and nurses, can he sories never so gat
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: around here, yea around here, m
