- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Bill's Mafia, what's going on?
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Happy August fifteenth Friday edition of first and five.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: I am your host Dave Myers, owner founder of Billton Buffalo.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: I got a special guest for me today, and I believe that we're going to make this a Friday thing with my guy, Papa Ron, Ronnie Eastman, Ronnie, it's Friday.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: What's going on?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: How are you feeling about Bill's plans and preseason football in a couple days?
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty excited about it and I've been waiting for this moment all summer long.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited to get back onto the podcast stream waves.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to call it and yeah, we're full into training camp preseason and I am super excited for this season.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we've been a little bit of behind the curtain stuff.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: Me and Ronnie have been talking about this for a long time.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously we are waiting for the right time, seasons here, a little over three and a half, about three and a half weeks.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: So we've been waiting it's the right time.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Our schedules are finally lining up to where we can do this every Friday.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: So this is gonna be a Friday thing.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna touch on some hot topics typically.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: Once the season rolls around, we're probably gonna touch on a pregame
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: giving you our previews and predictions for upcoming games for the bills.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: As you guys saw by the thumbnail today, I wanted to talk about the bubble wide receivers, the guys that could possibly push the bills to keep six this year.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure what they're thinking in is obviously once more preseason happens, more of practice happens.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we get down to that fifty three man roster structuring
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: which me and Ronnie can probably do, you know, a few weeks we could probably put together our roster's kind of see what that looks like.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: But everybody wants to talk about the wide receiver position, especially after this past week's pre-season game against the Giants, I feel like Tyrell Shavers had a good game, I feel like Obiscusional had a good game, KJ Hammer had that big touchdown.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: As you can see on the screen, I got the three guys listed there.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: Shavers Chanel and Hamler.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest question is, are the bills going to repeat what they did last year and keep five receivers on the roster?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: Are they going to push it for six based off of what guys can do and special teams and things like that?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: So first impression, let's talk about Tyrell Shavers first, Ronnie.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: What's your impression on Tyrell Shavers guy who's been on the roster last year?
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: Undrafted guy a guy who was on the team the entire season had that nice big catch in the game against the jets last year.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: He took that bubble screen to the house.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your impressions on Tyrell Shavers based off a last year and then what you saw of the the week one preseason game against the giants?
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think currently Tyrell Shavers has the longest
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: career average per reception for history right now.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've been a big shivers fan.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: I I loved him last season back in May, which talking about a fifty three way to early fifty three man projection, but I did have him making it this year.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a big fan of his and I just think that was he's six four six five good speed for somebody in size two.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a guy that the bill's really good to use and the offense is especially down in the red zone outside of coal in the rest of these guys are six foot and under ability.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, if you look at him, he doesn't.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: Look, you know, like a key on Coleman.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't look like a Joshua Palmer.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't look like a big buddy guy who you expect to go make plays, but it seems like every offseason he's making plays and pushing the bills to contemplate, does this guy deserve a spot?
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's definitely going to be on the practice squad.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: If he's going to get, if he would get picked up by anybody, if anybody would take a shot at him.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: To me, it's the ability to adapt and it's the ability to see what he can do on special teams.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: I saw a lot of tweets come out today on X.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: about him playing the gunner position.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: So if that's something that he's also doing now, that's that's just add more tools to the tool belt that could put him in a spot to push because when we talk about the bubble wide receivers, we have to remember the wide receivers aren't just
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: fighting amongst themselves to make the roster.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: They're fighting against that fifth safety or a tenth defensive lineman or an extra linebacker because all of those guys are going to be looked at first as what can they contribute on special teams?
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: Is it something where they can be gunners?
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Is it something that they can be on the return team itself as far as blocking schemes and things like that?
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: And then the return aspect of it as well as, you know, like the next guy we're going to talk about with Levisca Chanel,
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: He's a guy that looked good in the kick return game on Saturday against the Giants.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: He actually had a punt return.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: He was in there on that two point conversion.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: He was playing Gunner, which I didn't really know that that was part of his game.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about Levisca Chanel.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: I loved him during the whole draft process a few years back.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that he was going to be an absolute stud for whatever reason injuries happen.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Some things I think scheme wise.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: He just didn't work out.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your, what's your thoughts on Levisca Chanel after a really good
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: showing in Saturday's game against the giants.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe this is a little PTSD on my part.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: I had him and my fantasy football team after his rookie year.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's not thought you were going to be something.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like you said, the injuries and whatnot, kind of derailed all of that.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: But this signing to me, I hate to say this, but I kind of go back to last season with the bills brought in Chase Claypool.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: To me, it was a lot of the same thing, and not even Claypool, but also with
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: Mark has valedus scaling.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why these guys can't stick to a team.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: And they keep going bounce around from team to team to team.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a big shenalt fan.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: I was actually present somewhat surprised at how much they used him at the various ways that they used them last week.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe he'll surprise me and can be kind of that do everything guy.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I'm not a big fan is, honestly.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see what the rest of the proceeds can go heat.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not against changing my opinion.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, to me, it's going to be hard because the bills, I think, are going to keep five.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's saying that they're going to keep six and shabbers as a lock and stuff like that.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like the way the DNA of the bills and how McDermott wants to roster the team defensively.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like you're looking at, you're going to need extra help.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: in the second area.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to need an extra linebacker because we have to be constantly worried about injuries.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the bills every year once they hit that home stretch, there's always times when
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Man, I really wish we had, you know, X player starting, you know, opposite of Christian Benford, or wish we had Christian Benford, or wish we had met Milan, or somebody playing opposite of, you know, Torral Bernard, or something like that.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it just seems like with the safeties we have, there's always gonna be, well, we need to keep an extra safety, you know, just because McDermott likes to have deep rosters because of how aggressive this team plays, and we need to have those guys on the back end of the season when it counts.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: Last one, K. J. Hamler.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's obviously the hard knocks, you know, dialing everybody loves him right in his scooter around hard knocks.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's been fun.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he had a had a big play against the giants, you know, nice, thirty nine yard pass.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: He's he's a guy that everybody in the locker room seems to love him.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: The fan seems to adore him.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's a guy too that just
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: After he was drafted, just couldn't seem to stay healthy, kind of bounce around the bill, signed him to a future deal, but a future's deal before last season for the twenty three season, and then he was here on the practice squad last year, now he's back again.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts on KJ Hamler?
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: I like this skill set as far as the speed, but again, it kind of goes back to the.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: I trust me, I was going to say me being McDermott and the Scotty staff to make the right choices and if they don't feel like he's.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: going to be able to contribute in any meaningful way.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a problem with him not making a team, but I do, I do really like the speed.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: And that's one thing that this team, it seems like every single season we're talking about that is a lack of speed.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: So as far as hard knocks, I love him.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: I, that's one of my favorite things about watching the hard knocks is seeing some of you guys' personalities that we don't normally get to see.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: So that's been pretty unique.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he makes it personally again, but if he can get on there and they can use him, I don't almost say if he makes a team, it's gonna be kind of in that Isaiah McKinsey-type role.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: The gadget.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your, you brought up Hardenax and I brought it up too.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: What's, it wasn't on our show notes, but what's your, what's your thoughts on Hardenax?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Is it boring?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: Is that okay?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like can you tell that the bills have a lot of creative control?
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Because I feel like they touched on Joe and Jason, but then they kind of lingered on Joe and Jason for like a while.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like that was a nice story last year.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then the James Cook thing they kind of touched was they'll probably pick up again this coming episode.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like they didn't unless it's coming, they didn't.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: really touch on the rate of the story, which I felt would have pulled on a lot of heartstrings, like his story is incredible.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about him briefly about the draft process and things like that, and then obviously him kicking the extra point Saturday, but I didn't get
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like I wasn't wowed.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: I guess because we probably see all this stuff on X all the time, like all the stuff in practice, like they're given us a little bit of a glimpse of the stuff in the dorm rooms and a little behind the scene stuff with Brandon Bean and Sean McDermott.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like I don't know if I expected more, maybe I put too much emphasis on just wanting all the access.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your take on hard knocks?
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Are you, is it entertaining for you or are you
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: that you think it's okay, like can you tell the bills have creative controlled the heck out of this thing?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like what's your thoughts?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: I do wonder how much control they've had in what get shown.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I was just thinking about this yesterday.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was on on access.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: So to me, posted the latest Snickers commercial with Josh Allen.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: And it just made me kind of realize again that this team is so far from where they were
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: during the the drought years that anything that they can get now as far as the publicity and the recognition.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm all for and I love it.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a big drama guy.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want all the drama so to me watching the hard knock, I'm enjoying it.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's entertaining.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think one of the my favorite things that I've seen so far is watching and we'll seeing how Josh Allen's developed as a leader.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's like a second coach or another coach on the field now and that compared to where he was back in two thousand eighteen to the rookie season.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's been pretty fun to watch.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need all the drama to be entertained.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the same way with just regular TV shows and movies.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: I hear all these critically acclaimed this and then Ron Tomato said that.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I'm entertained, I don't care.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's good enough for me.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just, the stuff that I've seen from Josh, especially like, and the clip is made it around social media where he's holding, you know, the iPad and he's talking about, I need you here and I need this and I really need you to do that.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that is stuff that I don't know if that's just a hard knocks thing like because they were there or if we just haven't seen that before, but it's really nice to see, especially coming off of
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: what we were told that that was going to happen last season.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: That because of all of the leadership and all of the captains that they lost off that roster when they made all those, all those kept casualties and they went young and went to youth movement.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's just really nice to see that he's
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: embrace that leadership role not that we didn't already think that he was doing that but it's nice to actually be able to see it and see what he's actually saying and kind of digest you know what's being said and how it's coming across because we always hear on social media about how great he is in the locker room out in the community
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: The clip when he was at St.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: John Fisher signing autographs and he took his hats.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: He took his hat off to, you know, greet all of the active service people.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was great.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: And he remembers all the kids' names from the charities and the hospitals, these visits and stuff like that.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: it's it's really great to see that we have a guy that is Buffalo he just is an ambassador for the city and ambassador for the team and it's it's nice to know that it's being put front and center I had a conversation with the body of mine last night um who happens I live out on the west coast in California so I'm
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: literally probably seventy five minutes from where the forty-nineers play so a lot of my wife's friends who she grew up in California a lot of her friends are forty-nineers fans so obviously we constantly talk about Josh Allen and Brock Perty and forty-nineers and bills and a friend of mine said he can't stand Josh Allen because obviously what he did last year and doesn't help but against forty-nineers but he said is Josh Allen the face of the NFL
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I pondered that question for a while because we're typically used to seeing like Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs and stuff like that because they've won Super Bowl and things like that.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your opinion?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think, and again, this, I'm going off the cuff here.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: This wasn't on our show notes is, is Josh Allen has he become, is he becoming, is he already there?
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: Is he becoming the face of the NFL?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's tough to say different.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy, right?
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: We follow the team.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: So we are naturally going to see his face front and center all the time.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: If we follow the chiefs or if we follow the insert whoever, we would probably see that person a lot, right?
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if that's necessarily the case as far as NFL as a whole goes.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: I do know and I think this could be
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: part of maybe why the NFL wants to push him out there.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's a polarizing player because, and this goes all the way back to his draft year.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Coming into the draft, he was not this, he was not this, but he can do this, but he can do that.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: He was such a polarizing player even back then.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: That kind of player creates drama, it creates interest, and as much as I don't like drama, that is the thing that pushes views.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be honest, people love that kind of stuff.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they want to talk about, and especially, a lot of the negative stuff, which, you know, like we were talking about through the day in text, I'm a name, the radio station here, but that's what they push.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: They want the negative narrative, and not to say that's what people are doing with Alan.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: But just having his face out there, there's going to be people that are going to gravitate to it to him as a person, as a plur, and then there's going to be the other sort of that that's going to be like, oh, well, he's
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: He can't beat Patrick Mahomes.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: He can't do this.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: He can't, and it's still blows my mind, still a conversation.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know why there's a narrative about Josh Allen.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: If there's more times than that where I see
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, coming across X, where it's fans of other teams that are saying, how could you not love Josh Allen?
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know, how could you not, and it's not even the stuff from hard knocks.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's just seeing the things that are shared from the stuff he does with fans and interacting with players and how he talks to everyone, not just teammates, but how he talks to everyone.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so let's get back on the wide receiver train.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: So we talked about the three guys and then we'll all come back, I'll circle back to the wide receiver roster as a whole.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: It will kind of put a bow on all this, but let's talk about Curtis Samuel because this morning,
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: Sean Montgomery had a press conference and he brought up Curtis Samuel and the lack of availability of Curtis Samuel.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I've always said and a lot of people say the best ability that you can have is your availability, right?
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: So we know what happened last year.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of fans in this past offseason said, well, man, just can't wait for Curtis Samuel to be healthy because look what he was doing towards the end of the year.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: He was making ways, scored at that big touchdown against the Broncos in the postseason that he had that touchdown against the chiefs.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like everybody was just waiting.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then here we go again, and I was extremely high on Curtis Samuel.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'll admit it.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: I was extremely high on him when they signed him last year.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: He was one of the guys that I wanted them to target and sign.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: for two factors.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, he played with Joe Brady.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: So knowing that this was going to be Joe Brady's first season last year as the full time, you know, offensive coordinator because obviously the year before was the half the season after they got ready to endorse you.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I was excited because they were reunited and he had his best career season when he was with Joe Brady in Carolina.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: So there's that.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: Second of all, I know what the guy offers as a gadget player that I thought would be a step up from Isaiah McKenzie because the NFL's leading more towards those RPOs, more towards those handing the ball off to wide receivers in the back field.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: He can play the slot.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: He can line up outside.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: He has speed.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: Something that I thought the bills desperately needed to speed last year.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: So I was excited.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously the nagging injury.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like he was injured a lot more than the bills led on last year.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like he showed up on the injury report, but he was practicing.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: So nobody really made a big deal about it.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: But here we go again.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: This offseason misses a ton of training camp.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: practice today, look like he was running around, so making some catches, things like that.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: Sean McDermott came out and said that he's concerned, like the clock is ticking, like tick-tock, like we're running out of time to get the reps back in with the offense, the seasons right around the corner were less than a month away.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully, this is a step in the right direction, and we can have him healthy.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: I see a lot of fans online saying, why don't we just cut ties with him?
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Why don't we just cut him?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: Cut our losses.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: It was a bad contract.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: Let's move on.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: We have other guys in the hopper.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: Similar guys we talked about.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your take on Curtis Samuel?
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: I know you did some digging on the contract, what it looks like, things like that.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your take on Curtis Samuel?
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first of all, yeah, I'm with you as far as last season goes.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: When they brought him in, I was pretty excited about it.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think he had a little bit of a four, three, four year something like that.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Extremely fast.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was a little surprised his career average is only like around ten and eleven yards per reception.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: So you kind of would expect somebody with his speed to have a little more than that.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: But still, I was a gadget player like you're saying, a leveled up version of my name McKenzie.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: I was also excited about it.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Then the nagging injuries
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: continue to be a thing.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: Looking at his contract though, and you brought this up on X earlier too, the dead money that would occur if they did just simply release them is pretty significant.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's spread out over a couple years.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: If they released them, it'd be a .six million this year, three point four, five next year.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: And if they wait until next year to release them, those numbers obviously dropped significantly.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: But one thing that could, well, let me rephrase that.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it would happen, but one avenue one out that they would have is if they could trade him because that changes the numbers a lot.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: If they traded him, the debt cap this year will only be one point seven million.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, they would still have some day in the twenty twenty six, which is saying three point forty five.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: But they would save over seven point three million dollars this year if they could trade him.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: I said, I don't know that that's feasible.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if there's any teams out there that would be willing to do that.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: But obviously, I know there are some teams out there that receive or need even more so than what the perception is with the bills, but that could be a potential out for them.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: I know early on into the offseason, a lot of people, a lot of Bill's fans were talking about, well, what do you think we can get for a Curtis Samuel?
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think it doesn't really matter what you get in return as long as it's a decent draft pick, some draft capital, what you're looking for is the cap relief because
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: if if we're talking about the same courtesy that we got last year where he's on the injury report every week he's getting one to two targets a week he's not even he's a game day in active whatever it is then it's the this contract looks really bad and again I don't I don't I don't like to throw shade at Brendan being I think he's done a terrific job constructing this roster obviously he went out and and
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a lot of people were on about the James Cook deal and they got that done.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the way he constructed this roster is exactly what he said he was going to do back in two thousand seventeen he's going to draft develop and resign in sprinkle and veteran for agents.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: this deal looking back on it if something were to happen where he's not healthy he can't get on the field and the bills can't find a trade partner i think this is one of those deals that we're going to look at like man this this is not not one of been brand and beans better days but we'll see what happens hopefully things are training in the right direction hopefully can be healthy because
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people forget what Joe Brady said last year.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: He's like signed me up for a whole team of Curtis Samuels.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: So we already know what Joe Brady thinks and how he feels about being able to utilize a hundred percent healthy Curtis Samuel.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think it opens up the offense a ton.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: So with that being said, a lot of people also were talking about Elijah Moore, especially after the preseason game.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't see him get a lot of reps.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: The one
- 22:10[SPEAKER_00]: The one thing that stood out to me was the play where Elijah Moore, it was third in, I believe it was third in ten.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: Elijah Moore runs across the middle.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: He's wide open and Mitsubiski checks down Dalton-Concade, six-year pass played, the bill's punt, whatever.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: Elijah Moore was gone.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: That was a seventy-year touchdown with his speed.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: Now, ifs and what ifs and stuff like that.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_00]: But today,
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: We're seeing a lot of stuff coming out saying that he had a really good day with Josh today.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your take on Elijah Moore because I think a lot of people
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: are on a couple, you know, they lean one way or the other.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: Either, you know, he was brought in really late into the process of free agency.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: He was kind of an afterthought to see what the bills would do in the draft.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people feel like Brandon Bean was just trying to appease the masses by signing him because of the whole fall out of the draft and not going heavy, only signing, you know, Joshua Palmer, stuff like that.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: He had a good day today.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like personally me.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like this is a guy that that can do some things.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's arguably had horrible quarterback play as an entire career.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: He had a couple good games with James Winston.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your take in Elijah Moore?
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: You think that he's got a shot?
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: You think that a lot of Bill's fans are just saying, well, he's never really played with a good quarterback.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like is that overblown?
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like what's your thoughts overall?
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: I definitely think that there's something to that aspect of it.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: And it's kind of, if you want to draw this part of it's a little scary, how similar he and Samuel are, as far as their height, they're both, I believe, six foot.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: The last time I looked, they were separated by a couple of pounds and weight.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: Neither one of them has ever had an accurate quarterback to play for.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: Their yards per reception was very, very close to the same as well.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like they were very, very similar players, both statuaids and statistically in the past.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: I do think Elijah Moore is more talented overall than Samuel.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I think if he can stay healthy and get on that field, I would love to see him with Josh Allen and not Tribiski.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing against Tribiski.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm probably more of a Tribiski fan than most people.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: I get he likes to check down on all that.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I want to see him on the field of Allen in an actual game.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I do hope that Allen plays a little bit this weekend.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm excited for really this whole offense that the wide receiver room all together.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think the ceiling is is pretty high for this group.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, I think this the floor is kind of low too, but we'll see.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: I do like more in this offense.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think he can have a really good season.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: I really like Elijah Moore.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like I was pounding the table that he should have been one of the first guys that were assigned.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't like the cover one guys that were all over Joshua Palmer because of his separation and digging super deep into film and stuff like that.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was a good addition as far as if you look at
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: the advanced analytics of Joshua Palmer, like he does get open.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and that's what we needed last year.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's why the bill is trying to go get a Murray Cooper because we need to guys that can get downfield and get open.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's nothing flashy from I'm going to let fans know right now from Joshua Palmer.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_00]: It is nothing flashy.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to be blown away by stuff, but you're going to be pleasantly pleased with the results.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that's that's one thing.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's a very consistent guy.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: He has a very low drop percentage.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's just going to make plays.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: So overall,
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think, is it possible that the bills can keep six wide receivers?
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is extremely possible.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: Now, who that six guy is?
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not in the building at one bill's drive.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how McDermott and Bean look at these guys and put them side by side in evaluate.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: If I had to think of the three that we mentioned the bubble guys, I think the oddman out early is KJ Hamler.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think the bills know what he is.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_00]: They saw it last year.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think if there was going to be a year he was going to make this team it was last year.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think that was probably his best shot.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: The bill's brought in, love this kishanel to compete with Tyrell Shivers in KJ Hamler.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's, it's those two guys.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's shivers in shanel.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think that those are the two guys.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they look at what they do in practice.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they look at and value more of what they do in an actual game setting.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: both guys performed in the game on Saturday.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I can tell you.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: We don't get to see everything in practice.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's possible if one of these guys
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: has, you know, puts his stamp on something as far as special teams.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I, I give that to Chanel because of the special teams aspect of what he can do.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I know you're not a fan, but I know what McDermott loves.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: He loves the versatility of special teams.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: He loves having those guys.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we had Tyler Maddox for so long and saran meal and those guys because that's, that's what they did.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: Andre Roberts, that's all he did was was
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: do kickoffs in puns.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, do you think they can keep sex?
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: Is it possible?
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then we'll kind of move on to, you know, what we want to talk about expectations for Sunday and stuff like that.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: Is it possible that they keep sex?
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: I do think they keep sex.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of want to touch guys really.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking about this where you're talking, bring up the dead cap situation with her Samuel.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: We heard last summer, oh, there's no way the bills are going to trade stuff on digs.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: The cap hits thirty two million.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to happen.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: One of the things that I think that for me watching Brandon being in way he operates in this team in general, they don't care.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: If it's beneficial for the team overall in the roster, they're going to do what they need to do.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know necessarily the same.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: What is a twelve-ish nine dollar cap hit or dead cap is that big of a determining factor in whether or not they choose to move on from him or not.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you can't get on the field, then does it really matter how much dead money there is?
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's like
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: What do you do?
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: At least if he's gone, you can take that roster spot with somebody like to build the shavers.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason why I like shavers over some election all we know which is.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's been around the league long enough now.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: We know who he is and what we saw Saturday is probably what you're going to get with trial shavers.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's this potential ceiling there.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: and kind of the thing back to Stevie Johnson.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: He was kind of the same thing.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: We kept hearing about his name throughout the off seasons in training camps or pre-season.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, I think after, I think it's third year.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: They finally give him a chance.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of where I see Troshia.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying Shavor is going to be the next Stevie Johnson, but just that kind of trajectory.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see what he can do.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he could become a really good outside receiver for this team and contribute this year as opposed to just being a special teams guy.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, again, we don't, like you said, we don't know Tyrell's favorite ceiling.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like, like you said, we know what Chanel can do in with the big emphasis on kickoffs this year.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have Brandon Codrington do it where he's just taking up a roster spot.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't play corner.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: Apparently today, I saw some reports that he was playing the gunner position on special team.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_00]: So he was doing both sides of the special teams work, but they've also had a plethora of guys returning kicks and punts and practice.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they're just trying to go through the motions and see.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that tells me that a couple things, either they're not sold on caudrington, which he's still young, he's on a really inexpensive deal.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're not sold yet on Chanel.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: Because remember, Ray Dave is can also return, or Ty Johnson can also return kicks too.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: So, and he did it last year.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: Because you don't want Khalil Shakira returning puns.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: You just don't.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: You want it maybe against
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: If it's a game where you're trying to seal when that wins you the division or if it's upon against, you know, the Ravens and the divisional game and you need someone that you know is just going to make a catch and they're not going to.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're the micahide effect right they're not going to do anything stupid you can rely on them just.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: catch the ball, get out of bounds or down it or whatever.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to be super intriguing to see how McDermott and Bean kind of evaluate these guys going forward because I don't know outside of those guys for for kicks and punts who they have on the roster.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: Again, we haven't seen all of practice.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know if there's somebody that's returning punts that we haven't heard or returning kicks that we haven't heard about.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: So because the new kickoffs this year, I think are going to be really interesting teams are going to have big explosive plays on kickoffs.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then that's twofold for the bills, right?
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to want to have a guy that you know that can do the kickoff return part of it, but you're also going to make sure you roster your team with gunners that are available to get down there and make tackles and things like that.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right, the bills are in Chicago.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: Had a joint practice today from all accounts went fairly well.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think there was only one minor skirmish.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen a lot of reports saying that that key end looked really good today.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that's really nice to see.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: But as far as Sunday, and we'll talk about the starters in a minute.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what are you looking for out of the bills?
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's preseason.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: What are you looking for out of this game comes Sunday?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what?
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: What do you want to take away from this game?
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what's the meat and potatoes for you for Sunday?
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see Bishop and Rapp on the field together.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: We've heard the reports that they spend time in the soft season together working on communication and I really want to see those two on the field.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I believe from the reports today they were as McDonald's had limited, but I've also heard that they didn't look limited.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: They look like they're ready to go for war.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that's good.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: And the secondary really has a hole.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even with Trevius White, you know, all of the reports coming out from training came one night.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's been doing really well and playing good.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say his former, he's back to his former self because that's asking a lot of a lot of somebody who's been through ways, been through.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to see the secondary start to come together.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see a good communication on the field together.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's an important piece of this.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing, the receivers, I want to see who does what on that field.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I do hope that Alan gets on there because
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the way you're going to get the best idea of what these guys can do because, like you said, Elijah Morgan, a huge play and we'd all be talking differently about more today, had he thrown that ball to more and they scored on it, right?
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be completely different narrative right now.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, Elijah Morgan, he's got to be the number once receiver.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: It builds off your tends to react to a lot of things, especially in the previous season.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: So those were probably the biggest things, and also the other thing, I keep bringing this out by every single year, every single of season.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: The bills have got to figure out their front-four.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: They've got to figure out how to get dominant in the trenches.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: on the defensive side.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: That is the key to beating the chiefs.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: That is the key to beating the chiefs about any team in the playoffs.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to be able to control line the screen with the defensive side and get pressure on the quarterback.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to see, see a little bit of that.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: I did here, Gregor Solar, good today as well, and also Joey Bosa, a couple of reports came ahead a couple of sacks.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully these guys are starting to get their wings underneath them and can hit the ground around and come in September.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the young guys need to play a good bit on Sunday.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about TJ Sanders, land in Jackson, D.N.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_00]: Walker.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think those guys need a lot of playing time.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you got to get used to the rigors of a full NFL season.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I understand they want to get different looks and different things and McDermott and Babbage aren't going to show
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: and play all their cards.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're just not going to do that in preseason.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: But to your point, I want to see, like, I said it last week.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: I said, everybody overreacting to Elijah Moore not getting targets.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody overreacting to, you know, who was throwing passes to who and who was catching passes.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it doesn't matter.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Josh Allen
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: build chemistry with Joshua Palmer.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: We already know he has chemistry with sheer.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see him build a rapport with Elijah Moore.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Dalton concade.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: They need to start building back the trust they had two years ago where he set the bills tight and franchise record for receptions in a season.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the things I want to see.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously on the back end, I want of the defense.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see
- 35:01[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to see him play.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want it to be one series.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see him out there active on the field.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_00]: I want to know that he can actually play meaningful snaps.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously it's preseason.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to go crazy and overreact everything.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: As McDermott said about cold bishop like we're getting close here like we're running out of time before it's September seventh and the bills are playing the ravens on Sunday night.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: So let me ask you this and then we'll kind of end it on this topic.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: How do you feel in what's your assessment like what's your thoughts on a perfect scenario for starters playing on Sunday?
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts there?
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: I like to get the starters in the game.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think they need to need that a little bit of time.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: I know Josh Allen going in the eighth season.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: You probably say he doesn't need practice.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't need preseason, but like you said, well, I go when you've got some new weapons on the offensive side.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think you do need that because you can only simulate so much in practice, right?
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to have that real games scenario.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: Practice a few things.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe some fourth down, go a four to temps.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever the case may be, I think you do need that.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not for having him in the game.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: a lot.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I know a lot of people say the preseason games are meaningless, but they're not.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: They're basically practice.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: They are a leveled up version of practice.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you do need that, especially going in.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look at the, I was listening to a podcast the other day and they're talking about the Bengals and how they're, they're start slow every single year.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: They don't play their starters much at all in the preseason.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like they're changing that philosophy this year.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see if that helps them, but I do feel like you've got to get on the ground.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: And get rolling one of the things during there was this last hard knocks episode.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: They were talking to Joe and Dreson and he was talking to some one of the other players or somebody I can't remember exactly.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, as he said, it doesn't feel like there's a game.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know we have a game today, but it doesn't feel like it.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: They need to get past that.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they need to get into that routine.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's a game today.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're ready.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying he wasn't ready, but just from the sounds of it.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, oh, it's time to play.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: We need to get beyond that and get ready to rock.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to add one of the things really quick.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, jumping back to the, the cold bishop thing that you mentioned.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: Does this not sound like kind of the problem in our situation from a couple of years ago?
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, oh, my gosh, he's going to be our linebacker.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: This guy's hurt.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't play any time.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I was for singers.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: It is.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and he came out there and just was gang buzzers and we're like, whoa, that's guy can play.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: Hoping for the same situation, Colby show.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_00]: What I do know is that there's a lot of stuff about what Brandon being does.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_00]: And Sean McDermott, because I think that they're both excellent like scouts slash guys that can just see talent, right?
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like they, you talk about the rub around.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: They saw something that we did in.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's just proves that that's why they get paid to do what they do and we don't, right?
- 38:02[SPEAKER_00]: We get paid to talk about it.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: They get paid to go out there and make that stuff happen.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: And to your point, I am hoping that that's the same thing with Cole Bishop.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the only difference is he did get a lot more playing time is working here than to Rubber and I did.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: We just talked to Rubber and that one game against the jets and we were all like,
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like, hey, and then obviously, the offseason we lost, terrain Edmunds, and all that stuff happened, and we're like, okay, and then Terrell Bernard blew up.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: He was the cornerstone of the middle of the field for the bills.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: So I hope, that's why I crossed my fingers.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that this is another situation where the bills absolutely nailed it on a draft pick and saw what a lot of us haven't seen yet, and they think it's there.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of that can be said about guys like land and Jackson like I've heard that he just looks extremely raw but he also has shown some really great flashes of brilliance in practice where he apparently today he looked really good against the bears so I don't know if it was
- 39:05[SPEAKER_00]: going against third stringers or guys that are going to be bagging roasters next week.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but I think the bills have a neck and brain and being in the scouts, the scouting staff has a neck for finding those guys.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they miss on some too, but they have a neck for finding those guys like a Spencer Brown and a Dawson Knox that are just obviously Josh Allen that are just really raw.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_00]: And they can see what they're going to be like a couple years down the road.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_00]: And we just need as fans just need to be patient to just follow the journey and get there.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I've always said, on the flip side of that, I've always said, in a window that we have, whether you want to call it a window or a championship, you know, caliber team that's contending for the AFC East and the AFC and make it to the Super Bowl, I don't like to build sculptures on a clay when we're in that window.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't like, I like to have
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: Surefire things, but we also have to remember that we are paying Josh Allen, what we're paying Josh Allen, we're paying Gregor So what we're paying Gregor So we're now paying James Cook.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to have to have draft picks that are on rookie contracts that we're going to have to wait for them to develop and hope that they are just up to speed a lot sooner than unfortunately we want them to and they'll get there.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's going to be fun.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: Sunday, hopefully we get to see some starters play.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_00]: If I had the bet and I don't know, I haven't been on on X because we've been doing this.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_00]: If McDermott's announced, you know, if the starters are going to play and if so, how long?
- 40:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would say probably two drives, which would probably be the first quarter, depending on how those drives go.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: But it's going to be interesting to see.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I'm Dave Myers.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_00]: If you guys haven't smashed the like button, smash the like button if you're watching on YouTube, please subscribe to this channel.

- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get more and more viewers.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: Again, this is just the second episode.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: So Papa Ryan is going to be here every Friday, locked in.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: He can't back out now.

- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm excited to two days until preseason week two.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: I will be back here on Monday, but I will be live tomorrow with a former member of Milton Buffalo, Peter D. B. Assey for Bill's allergy because the team is on vacation this weekend.
