- 0:00Speaker 1: Roxy, Hello, how many trips is that by the way
- 0:02Speaker 1: to Seattle for you now in the last five months?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, what is it? I had three cracking
- 0:08Speaker 2: games right and the Mariners this past weekend, and then
- 0:16Speaker 2: you got to go back to last October when I
- 0:19Speaker 2: did the Mariners Tiger Series and I was back and
- 0:22Speaker 2: forth between Seattle and Detroit. So I've seen my fillow
- 0:25Speaker 2: of the Pacific northwest of downtown Seattle recently?
- 0:28Speaker 1: Are you taking rent like somewhere in Ballard or even
- 0:31Speaker 1: out in Bellevue and just kind of just you know,
- 0:33Speaker 1: getting past the whole, you know, charade here of visiting
- 0:37Speaker 1: whereas more as like you're just now like staying from
- 0:39Speaker 1: time to time.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I just want to shack up in PJ Carless. He
- 0:45Speaker 2: just got a view of the water. That's how you live.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So I like in the Queen Anne district, So I
- 0:52Speaker 2: want to like, just like piggyback up what Pj's got
- 0:55Speaker 2: going on? Then?
- 0:55Speaker 1: How sweet baby? In Queen Anne. That's how you live.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Roxy.
- 0:58Speaker 1: How do you read Team Mobile, by the way versus
- 1:00Speaker 1: other ballparks that you've been going to nationally?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Oh it's great. It's so easy for us to work
- 1:06Speaker 2: in the booster are great, the sidelines are great, and
- 1:10Speaker 2: the atmosphere is fantastic. And look, it's hard to beat
- 1:14Speaker 2: the electricity you felt last October when the playoffs were there.
- 1:18Speaker 2: But even Sunday night. The Mariners aren't playing great right now,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but it's still a fun place to come to a game.
- 1:25Speaker 2: The ballpark is well maintained and well kept, and it's
- 1:29Speaker 2: a great fan base, and it's always a fun place
- 1:33Speaker 2: to come to a game because just of how great
- 1:35Speaker 2: it is to be around that ballpark.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Well, so it feels kind of like miles away maybe
- 1:39Speaker 1: as far as how the feelings have been going through
- 1:41Speaker 1: everyone versus say back in October, because as of right
- 1:44Speaker 1: now a third place in the American League West, but
- 1:47Speaker 1: they are still two games back, which is crazy to consider.
- 1:52Speaker 1: So it's a glass half empty versus a glass half
- 1:55Speaker 1: full approach. But you saw this team recently with all
- 1:59Speaker 1: the injuries but yet some underachievement. Bryce Miller admitted, so
- 2:02Speaker 1: about a couple of ninths ago. I mean, what's your
- 2:05Speaker 1: view on this baseball team right now? From twenty thousand
- 2:07Speaker 1: feet as we're getting closer and closer into June and
- 2:10Speaker 1: in just a bit.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Well, you're about a quarter the way in, and the
- 2:14Speaker 2: good news mic for the Mariners, and basically the entire
- 2:18Speaker 2: aos is nobody's running away with a division. Right You
- 2:21Speaker 2: have the Artists formerly known as the Oakland Athletics on top,
- 2:26Speaker 2: and they're the only team that's above five hundred in
- 2:28Speaker 2: the league and they're just a game over in the division.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And the crazy thing is about the as is they
- 2:33Speaker 2: have a negative run differential. Yeah, and yet they're in
- 2:37Speaker 2: first place. And you have Texas and Seattle are right
- 2:40Speaker 2: behind them, and both teams are in the positive as
- 2:43Speaker 2: far as the run differential goes. Yet they're below five
- 2:46Speaker 2: hundred right now. And as this season plays out, I
- 2:49Speaker 2: fully expected Mariners to get it together. I mean, Kyl
- 2:52Speaker 2: Rawley on your injured list right now doesn't help. Some
- 2:56Speaker 2: of the other bumps and bruises they're dealing with have
- 2:59Speaker 2: made it challenging. But I look at them like they're
- 3:03Speaker 2: the team to be, even though right now they're sitting
- 3:05Speaker 2: in third. Just not you know, you can base it
- 3:08Speaker 2: on what they did last season, but the talent level
- 3:12Speaker 2: there and that look, they're going to get it together.
- 3:16Speaker 2: This is a team that might be going through a funk,
- 3:18Speaker 2: right now some young guys getting a taste, like Cole Young,
- 3:21Speaker 2: for example. But when you look at the back of
- 3:23Speaker 2: the baseball card, the guys like Julio Rodriguez and Josh
- 3:28Speaker 2: Naylor and now Cal Rowley with a sixty home run
- 3:30Speaker 2: season last year and Randy Rose Arena. Yeah, they're gonna
- 3:33Speaker 2: hit and they're gonna drive in some runs and the
- 3:37Speaker 2: rotation is going to find its form. I'm not worried
- 3:40Speaker 2: about the Mariners, especially with nobody setting the world on
- 3:43Speaker 2: fire in the ALS.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I mean, Houston's basically on their last legs as far
- 3:48Speaker 1: as this window right now, and we're hearing the word
- 3:51Speaker 1: rebuild maybe entering the conversation at this point. But how
- 3:54Speaker 1: real is Texas also as of right now.
- 3:56Speaker 2: You think I like their team, luck what they've got.
- 4:02Speaker 2: To me, they're the biggest competitor to Seattle and division.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I know the eighth lead the division right now, but
- 4:09Speaker 2: I just I see what Texas has with the acquisition
- 4:13Speaker 2: of Nemo. Although it was hard to get rid of Marcus,
- 4:15Speaker 2: Simeon and Seegers on the injured list right now for them,
- 4:19Speaker 2: but they're to me, the stiffest competition. You mentioned Houston.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I had them a couple of weeks ago, Mike, and
- 4:25Speaker 2: they're a shell of what they used to be. And
- 4:28Speaker 2: the injuries you want. Seattle's dealing with a lot, but
- 4:31Speaker 2: I don't think anybody's dealing with the injuries that the
- 4:34Speaker 2: Tigers and the and the Astors are dealing with the
- 4:37Speaker 2: American League, because it's an all star team that's on
- 4:39Speaker 2: the injured list right now. And look, Carlos Corey is
- 4:42Speaker 2: not coming back, he's out for the year. That's a
- 4:46Speaker 2: team that's really struggling in the turnover they lose from
- 4:49Speaker 2: er Valdez, Alex Bregman's left recently, Tucker's left recently. It's
- 4:52Speaker 2: a completely new looking team that they have turned over already.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I just don't see it with Houston this year that
- 5:00Speaker 2: they're playing catch up and they've got some significant holes
- 5:04Speaker 2: where I don't see as many issues with the Mariners
- 5:06Speaker 2: of the Rangers, even with the struggles though two those
- 5:09Speaker 2: two teams have had to start the year.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Roxy Bernstein joining us right now on the Beacon Plumbing
- 5:13Speaker 1: Hotlining and the Mariners up next taking on the Kansas
- 5:15Speaker 1: City Royals, coming off of two wins out of three
- 5:18Speaker 1: against the White Sox. Roxy, you mentioned Cal Rawley, and
- 5:22Speaker 1: I think for anyone's it's unfair to ask sixty home
- 5:26Speaker 1: runs again out of him and what was just a
- 5:28Speaker 1: monstrous historic season last year. But I mean, given the
- 5:31Speaker 1: fact that he's been hurt as well too, do you
- 5:33Speaker 1: think it was unfair to even expect cal Rawley to
- 5:36Speaker 1: hit between forty two fifty homers this year.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Potentially? But you know he's shown the power over the years.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Now everything fell in place for him. It was like
- 5:46Speaker 2: the perfect storm last year. Everything was right right, and
- 5:50Speaker 2: he would get maybe one or two pitches to hit
- 5:52Speaker 2: a game, and he'd hit it out when he got it,
- 5:55Speaker 2: and he wasn't missing those pitches for the most part.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That doesn't happen every year. And look, is he a
- 6:02Speaker 2: sixty home run guy year in You're out?
- 6:04Speaker 1: No?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Is he a twenty home run guy year in You're out?
- 6:07Speaker 4: No?
- 6:07Speaker 2: But he's somewhere in between, right, is forty two high
- 6:10Speaker 2: of and number thirty five more realistic? That's where I
- 6:14Speaker 2: would expect rally to be. I don't want to say
- 6:17Speaker 2: that sixty was an aberration or an anomaly, because we all
- 6:20Speaker 2: saw what happened and how much of a threat he
- 6:23Speaker 2: was every at bat, especially down the stretch for Seattle
- 6:26Speaker 2: last year. But he really announced his presence on the
- 6:30Speaker 2: national stage and wasn't just Okay, this nice catcher for
- 6:34Speaker 2: the Mariners doing a really good job and helping them win.
- 6:37Speaker 2: He became a force. He was an All Star and
- 6:39Speaker 2: he became a household name. And it's hard to follow
- 6:43Speaker 2: that up, and there's pressure that comes with the success
- 6:45Speaker 2: that you had a year ago. But he's somewhere in between.
- 6:48Speaker 2: He is a legitimate, I think, all Star, a perennial
- 6:52Speaker 2: All Star for years to come because of all the
- 6:56Speaker 2: things he can do. It's not just a power hitting mike.
- 6:58Speaker 2: He's a good receiver. He is a good game caller
- 7:01Speaker 2: back there, and that's the other thing I think that
- 7:03Speaker 2: gets overshadowed and overlooked because people paid so much attention
- 7:07Speaker 2: to the home runs, that he is a really good
- 7:09Speaker 2: defensive catcher.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Colt Emerson's also up roxy. You had a chance to
- 7:13Speaker 1: call that game when he basically made a jet airliner run,
- 7:18Speaker 1: so to speak, up the freeway from Tacoma into Seattle
- 7:22Speaker 1: in time for that Sunday game. With Colt Emerson up here,
- 7:26Speaker 1: that brings JP Crawford into the conversation. I mean his
- 7:29Speaker 1: play of metrics suggests he might be the worst defensive
- 7:32Speaker 1: shortstop in baseball at this point. But what's your first
- 7:35Speaker 1: thought when you consider the Mariners are toying with him
- 7:38Speaker 1: and JP even saying I'll do this to say I'll
- 7:42Speaker 1: move off a shortstop and then look at playing third base.
- 7:48Speaker 2: The one thing with Emerson, Mike is if he's here
- 7:51Speaker 2: with the big team, he's got to play every day.
- 7:53Speaker 2: You don't want him sitting. And that's the way his
- 7:58Speaker 2: game will grow and develop is by playing, getting at bats,
- 8:01Speaker 2: and I think that's what he needs. Where some teams,
- 8:04Speaker 2: for example, the San Francisco Giants, for their hot prospect
- 8:07Speaker 2: right now, Bryce Eldridge, they're not playing him every day.
- 8:10Speaker 2: They brought him up from TRIPLEA. He's getting about three
- 8:12Speaker 2: or four starts a week. That's not the way to
- 8:14Speaker 2: handle a young potential star or young potential prospect that
- 8:19Speaker 2: you view in high regard. And not just the Mariners
- 8:22Speaker 2: regard Emerson, but the whole Major League Baseball scouting bureau
- 8:26Speaker 2: thinks so highly of him. He's got to play every
- 8:28Speaker 2: day and not necessarily have to be shortstop. That maybe
- 8:31Speaker 2: comes in time because Crawford's there. JP Crawford's been a
- 8:35Speaker 2: huge leader for this team, a solid fixture in that clubhouse.
- 8:38Speaker 2: He relates to all his teammates, he holds his significant
- 8:43Speaker 2: presence with the Mariners. It's not just an easy move.
- 8:46Speaker 2: You're going to establish Emerson, you say, even though his
- 8:49Speaker 2: future may be a shortstop, now's not the time. This
- 8:52Speaker 2: is still JP Crawford's job and Emerson. Keep in mind, Mike,
- 8:55Speaker 2: he's just twenty years old. Let this kid develop and
- 8:58Speaker 2: if he's not ready for the big league, send it
- 9:00Speaker 2: back down it Takomas, Let him play and let him
- 9:02Speaker 2: get at bats down there, and at some point, maybe
- 9:05Speaker 2: later in the year. You helped this team and he
- 9:07Speaker 2: was brought up an emergency basis because they needed another
- 9:10Speaker 2: body with another injury that popped up. So you play
- 9:15Speaker 2: him for the time being, and when everything gets situated again,
- 9:19Speaker 2: maybe you send him back down so he can play
- 9:21Speaker 2: every day.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I mean, people tend to forget that it's hard enough
- 9:23Speaker 1: to break into the major leagues trying it when you're
- 9:25Speaker 1: twenty years of age, and I mean, the guy basically
- 9:28Speaker 1: can't have a beer shower. Brian wo said out of me,
- 9:31Speaker 1: just have to have a frescot at this point, but
- 9:33Speaker 1: that's the world that cold Emerson lives in right now.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Another role that the Mariners are living in right now
- 9:38Speaker 1: is this pitching staff situation. Roxy of course and me
- 9:41Speaker 1: it's going to be the lynchpin of their success. Logan Gilbert,
- 9:44Speaker 1: how he performs, George Kirby, Brian wu Bryce Miller is healthy.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But now you have a six man rotation setup which
- 9:51Speaker 1: is now morphed into the pboard around here, the piggyback situation.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I was in the press box for this and it
- 9:59Speaker 1: looked good until it didn't look good at any nine
- 10:02Speaker 1: and they bring Louis Castillo back out there. Two base
- 10:04Speaker 1: runners get on. Dan Wilson tries to pull him. The
- 10:08Speaker 1: umpire says, no, you can't, because Pete Woodward just went
- 10:10Speaker 1: out there to talk to him, and so they had
- 10:12Speaker 1: to wait. That brought on a big mess of an
- 10:15Speaker 1: optic situation. Munios comes in, blows the save game over
- 10:20Speaker 1: and they may go back to this once again. So
- 10:22Speaker 1: you've got a guy in Bryce Miller, who looked more
- 10:25Speaker 1: locked in than Fort Knox in his second game back
- 10:29Speaker 1: from injury against the White Sox. You got a guy
- 10:31Speaker 1: in Louis Castillo, the sage veteran who this clubouse just
- 10:35Speaker 1: adores him. But now they're trying to find a way
- 10:38Speaker 1: to make all this fit with six guys who can
- 10:41Speaker 1: legitimately start. So where does your mind go with how
- 10:44Speaker 1: they make this work with Bryce Miller and Louis Castio
- 10:47Speaker 1: in a minor league piggybacker as I call a project
- 10:51Speaker 1: oinc situation.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Well, look, Dan Wilson and the Mariners are in a
- 10:57Speaker 2: good spot in terms of it's an embarrassment of it's
- 11:01Speaker 2: better to have one too many starters than one few
- 11:04Speaker 2: too many starters. And that's the way this team is built. Yes, okay,
- 11:08Speaker 2: you have Julio Rodriguez, a dynamic centerfielder, and Cal Rawley
- 11:12Speaker 2: hits home runs, and you got Josh Naylor last year
- 11:15Speaker 2: in that trade to help give a boost to the offense.
- 11:18Speaker 2: But the Mariners are going to win with pitching and defense,
- 11:21Speaker 2: and that's the hallmark I think of this team and
- 11:24Speaker 2: the way the ballpark plays as well. And you find
- 11:29Speaker 2: a way for it to work. If you need to
- 11:30Speaker 2: go to a sixth man, you do it. I get it.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Somebody's not going to be happy if that's the case,
- 11:36Speaker 2: because they want the ball every fifth day and you'll
- 11:40Speaker 2: figure something out. It's strange, Mike, Baseball has a way
- 11:44Speaker 2: of sorting itself out. Things happen along the way, injuries,
- 11:48Speaker 2: the need for another pitcher. The baseball gods have this
- 11:53Speaker 2: thing figured out, and at some point that will shake
- 11:56Speaker 2: itself out and make it easy for the Mariners to
- 12:00Speaker 2: get this situation alleviated. Right, Okay, six starters, Well, we'll
- 12:04Speaker 2: go five for the time being made somebody's a long
- 12:06Speaker 2: man all of a sudden, Okay, now there's a need
- 12:08Speaker 2: for another starter, and it just so happens you're in
- 12:11Speaker 2: the right position for it. And I think that I'd
- 12:13Speaker 2: rather be in the Mariner situation than another team that's
- 12:16Speaker 2: searching for starters. And like the Tigers have the bullpen
- 12:19Speaker 2: games because they don't have enough starting pitching.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And Detroit's also coming up here on this schedule, as
- 12:23Speaker 1: the Royals immediately up next, they had been struggling and
- 12:26Speaker 1: falling out of contention, though Bobby wit Junior is always
- 12:29Speaker 1: a problem. And then the Athletics after that roxy you
- 12:32Speaker 1: mentioned in Sacramento, they had been prone to giving up
- 12:35Speaker 1: the home run ball, and yet the A's are still
- 12:37Speaker 1: hanging around right now despite that run differential but is
- 12:40Speaker 1: it too early to guess you think how many wins
- 12:42Speaker 1: will take the AL West this season?
- 12:46Speaker 2: I think so. I mean, look, if you want to play, guestimate,
- 12:50Speaker 2: if you you feel comfortable if you got to ninety
- 12:52Speaker 2: right in this division. Look, I'm not necessarily going to
- 12:55Speaker 2: call it the Pillow Fight. Was the Pacific Division in
- 12:57Speaker 2: the NHL that everybody else was labeling it as that
- 13:01Speaker 2: Vegas ended up winning, But right now it's it's the
- 13:05Speaker 2: whole American League. When you look at it, it's a
- 13:07Speaker 2: little bit better recently, but you only have five teams
- 13:12Speaker 2: in the ALE that are above five hundred. You go
- 13:14Speaker 2: back to last weekend. At one point there was only
- 13:17Speaker 2: three in Oakland, sorry the A's and then you know
- 13:20Speaker 2: all I will believe me. I'll keep saying over having
- 13:32Speaker 2: having worked for that organization, but there was at one
- 13:34Speaker 2: point there was only three teams in the ALE that
- 13:36Speaker 2: were above five hundred. Now you have five. But in
- 13:40Speaker 2: the AL West it's going to be this height all
- 13:42Speaker 2: the way. I don't see any separation. The only team
- 13:44Speaker 2: to me that can really separate itself, I think is
- 13:47Speaker 2: Seattle if they get hot because of that pitching and
- 13:50Speaker 2: when the offense clicks. They are the best team. It's
- 13:54Speaker 2: just a matter of time. When's it going to happen?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Ay Roxy, Finally we've crossed pass. Of course, a lot
- 13:59Speaker 1: on the na shell side of things, Colorado, Vegas, Montreal
- 14:03Speaker 1: or Carolina. Who wins the Cup.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'd like to see Carolina win it, to be honest
- 14:09Speaker 2: with you. Let's get some new blood, like I wouldn't
- 14:12Speaker 2: object to Montreal winning. I know Canada's been thirsty for
- 14:15Speaker 2: a Cup for a long long time, but let somebody
- 14:17Speaker 2: else win it, right. We've see the Ads win a
- 14:20Speaker 2: few recently, Vegas has won, and now Vegas is for
- 14:24Speaker 2: a lot of people's taken on the Maniker, the Moniker
- 14:26Speaker 2: the most hated team in the NHL. I like Rod
- 14:29Speaker 2: Brindamore and he's always been awesome for us to deal with.
- 14:33Speaker 2: So I'm kind of pulling in that regard for Carolina.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Let them win it. They've been so good in the
- 14:39Speaker 2: playoffs so far. I'm just worried this long layoff, how
- 14:42Speaker 2: they're going to react. And look, they're gonna be fresh,
- 14:45Speaker 2: they're gonna be ready to go, but they're gonna have
- 14:47Speaker 2: some rush too. They're gonna have to figure out.
- 14:49Speaker 1: In Game one against the Canadians last Montreal. Stanley Cup
- 14:51Speaker 1: came back in nineteen ninety three when I was at
- 14:55Speaker 1: school in one level. You, I believe, were in school
- 14:57Speaker 1: at a different level. And I think we all remember
- 14:59Speaker 1: how she Gas was back then, right.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I was gonna ask you if you were alive yet.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I think I think barely, like barely voice cracking at
- 15:09Speaker 1: that point, the voice was barely cracking.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a long time for Canada, and we
- 15:15Speaker 2: know how close the oilers have gotten recently.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Oh, don't ask them.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Don't ask them, and don't bring up and don't bring
- 15:22Speaker 2: up Martey mccor either to kings Fan.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Oh no, that that still is a sore point. I think,
- 15:26Speaker 1: even with two Stanley Cups in their back pocket. Oh
- 15:29Speaker 1: Gray stuff is always Roxy. Thank you very much, ma'am.
- 15:31Speaker 1: We'll talk to you soon.
- 15:33Speaker 2: You got anytime, all right?
- 15:34Speaker 1: Roxy Bernstein joining us once again on the beacon plumbing
- 15:37Speaker 1: hot line of voice on the MLB side for ESPN
- 15:40Speaker 1: Radio time to time, also has NHL on ESPN Matters
- 15:44Speaker 1: from the television side. I mean, I'm with it before
- 15:48Speaker 1: we go to break, Chris, this is gonna be a
- 15:50Speaker 1: situation of if I mean this whole thing's up for grabs.
- 15:54Speaker 1: A schedule is laying out as flat as you can
- 15:56Speaker 1: right now. And Bryce Miller said it himself two nights ago. Oh,
- 16:01Speaker 1: it is within themselves to get back on the tracks
- 16:04Speaker 1: and get to five or ten games up. It is
- 16:07Speaker 1: not a performance issue. Sometimes it can be an execution issue.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It's an injury issue sometimes. But again, this I think
- 16:14Speaker 1: was a wake up call where again everything is out
- 16:17Speaker 1: there for the taking.
- 16:21Speaker 3: So what do the man has gotta do? They gotta
- 16:23Speaker 3: take it. Then enough is enough. They are capable, they
- 16:28Speaker 3: have the roster, they have the pitching. Just execute. Go
- 16:31Speaker 3: play ball, play ball. Let's do that.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I love, I love. I love the inflection by the way.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It reminds me of my kids game last weekend travel ball.
- 16:40Speaker 2: We had.
- 16:41Speaker 1: We had, we had a numpire who gave a good
- 16:43Speaker 1: one just like you did.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Can you do it?
- 16:46Speaker 1: No, I've got too much coffee. I think I think
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm kind of recovering on some sleep deprivations in the
- 16:52Speaker 1: last two nights. There's differences as far as what led
- 16:55Speaker 1: to that, but hey, I mean, give me an excuse
- 16:58Speaker 1: to shout out the Washington Rush which had him. We're
- 16:59Speaker 1: all so by the way right now, which is also
- 17:01Speaker 1: my kid's travel team. See, my voice is already going out.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I can't do it the way that you just did.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Fair enough, Come check with me back maybe like a
- 17:10Speaker 1: month or July or so. I'm back in next week,
- 17:12Speaker 1: I believe also. Okay, well maybe in a week I'll
- 17:15Speaker 1: try to get the voice in the pipes. All one,
- 17:17Speaker 1: All right, there we go.
- 17:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 17:19Speaker 1: To Komadaj's text line, A lot to get to for
- 17:23Speaker 1: the Mariners. How much did this White Sox series alleviate
- 17:27Speaker 1: your concern? NHL side to you half thoughts, NBA side
- 17:32Speaker 1: at the Spurs beat Oklahoma City? Are you buying Spurs paraphernalia?
- 17:37Speaker 1: Four nine four five one. To Komadaj's text line your
- 17:39Speaker 1: reactions right next here on any three three k jerifin.
- 17:47Speaker 1: All right, Gregg's out to the family reasons. Congratulations again
- 17:50Speaker 1: to his daughter graduating from the Coast Guard Academy in
- 17:53Speaker 1: New London, Connecticut. Gregg's back soon. I'm Mike Benton filling
- 17:57Speaker 1: in here for him. Here for the day, Chris kids
- 18:00Speaker 1: back on the other side of the glass. And for
- 18:02Speaker 1: those of you watching on YouTube, by the way, thanks
- 18:04Speaker 1: again for doing this with me. With you. I help
- 18:06Speaker 1: having chase you away after about roughly an hour and
- 18:09Speaker 1: a half because there is some familiarity here to this show.
- 18:13Speaker 1: It's fresh, it's fresh, it's funkadelic. That's that music that
- 18:17Speaker 1: you play once again here for the dakomadash text line
- 18:19Speaker 1: four nine four or five one nail did aka the
- 18:22Speaker 1: porn music.
- 18:23Speaker 3: It's a.
- 18:25Speaker 1: It's a staple.
- 18:26Speaker 3: It is a staple.
- 18:27Speaker 1: It's a staple.
- 18:27Speaker 3: It's must here radio, all right. Mike Give mentioned some
- 18:31Speaker 3: things at the top of the show regarding the Spurs
- 18:33Speaker 3: and Okac well, a lot of Sonic fans, Spurs fans
- 18:39Speaker 3: have weighting from the two five three. Keith, I would
- 18:42Speaker 3: get a Wimby tramp stamp tattoo if the Spurs can
- 18:45Speaker 3: out of dust bowlers. OK see, I feel like Keith,
- 18:49Speaker 3: You're not alone. There are probably one hundreds that will
- 18:51Speaker 3: follow suit.
- 18:52Speaker 1: How big is the tram stamp? I mean it's gotta
- 18:55Speaker 1: be visible, like we're talking like about roughly three inches
- 18:58Speaker 1: in diameters ages. I don't if you can like go
- 19:02Speaker 1: all the way up like the small your back, if
- 19:05Speaker 1: you can see it as a tram stamp, I think
- 19:07Speaker 1: that's fair.
- 19:07Speaker 3: So if you want to get three inches on your
- 19:08Speaker 3: back of a tattoo. That's totally fine.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And we still have like maybe at least three more
- 19:15Speaker 1: games to go, if not all the way to seven.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So if Wemby posterizes somebody that's going on the back.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I think, oh, yeah, you can find you can.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Just like puffing his chest out, fist nearly clenched, screams
- 19:30Speaker 1: all the way to the heavens.
- 19:32Speaker 3: He's very animated after that.
- 19:34Speaker 1: That'll make a poster, that'll make a T shirt, that'll
- 19:36Speaker 1: make a tramp stamp. Also, absolutely what you got, Mike
- 19:40Speaker 1: U four two five kid are the thunder still in
- 19:42Speaker 1: my head. I put it here to the test last night.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I'm betting on SGA. I won money and didn't feel
- 19:47Speaker 1: a bit bad about it. I guess I have my answer.
- 19:51Speaker 1: You know, there's a lot of things that money can solve.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I haven't found one yet where it's like, yeah, money
- 19:58Speaker 1: can't sell. I mean, actually I have found a few.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I can't solve it. But money's gonna make you happy.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'll be honest.
- 20:03Speaker 3: If someone just said here's one hundred dollars, I'm sure
- 20:05Speaker 3: your day will go from very happy for those that
- 20:08Speaker 3: saw me on you sure as heck can use that
- 20:10Speaker 3: for gas right now exactly, so money can solve a
- 20:13Speaker 3: few problems.
- 20:13Speaker 1: We can go about five minutes on this.
- 20:16Speaker 3: We really could one, all right? From Jason out of
- 20:21Speaker 3: the two oh six. I am a Spurs fan. Once
- 20:25Speaker 3: Fox and Harper are on the floor, they will mop. Okay, see, okay,
- 20:30Speaker 3: it's very confident there.
- 20:32Speaker 1: We're here for the takes. We're here for the hot takes.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yes we are.
- 20:34Speaker 3: What do you have.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Again?
- 20:37Speaker 1: I say, if you're the Spurs, you have to have
- 20:39Speaker 1: ball handlers. If you can get past this injury bug,
- 20:42Speaker 1: it takes care of a lot. So can Harper find
- 20:46Speaker 1: a right hamstring that is healthy once again? Can the
- 20:50Speaker 1: Aaron Fox find the right high ankle spray? And that
- 20:52Speaker 1: can just go away? Because I think to me, you
- 20:56Speaker 1: get them back, that means activate Victor wemb beyond into
- 21:00Speaker 1: beast mode. He can't functions high without guys who can distribute.
- 21:05Speaker 1: So I mean, I pose this again, Harper or Fox?
- 21:08Speaker 1: Who do you need more? And I was just kind
- 21:10Speaker 1: of laying laying this up on a tee for you,
- 21:12Speaker 1: but I fully agree you have to have.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Dearon Fox back one thousand from the two five to
- 21:17Speaker 3: three guys, I'd walk barefoot through one thousand legos for
- 21:21Speaker 3: the Spurs to win the series.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Ooh, one, ouch two. This now leads me into a
- 21:28Speaker 1: sipperate question here, because we're still going to be here
- 21:30Speaker 1: for a few minutes. Four nine, four or five to one?
- 21:34Speaker 1: Would you walk barefoot through one thousand legos for the
- 21:37Speaker 1: Spurs to win this series?
- 21:39Speaker 2: The man?
- 21:40Speaker 1: Would you walk barefoot for Reaping hot coals for the
- 21:45Speaker 1: Spurs to win this series? Would you walk barefoot across
- 21:49Speaker 1: a bed of nails for the Spurs to win this series?
- 21:53Speaker 1: What would you rather do? Legos, hot coals or a
- 21:58Speaker 1: bed of nails?
- 21:59Speaker 3: I think the legos is easy one. Would you not
- 22:02Speaker 3: do legos?
- 22:03Speaker 2: Well?
- 22:03Speaker 1: I mean if they're like the anybitty tiny ones, those
- 22:07Speaker 1: hurt more. Yeah, but I have kids who had legos.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Burning my feet I don't think is up for debate.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But depending upon what kind of mindset you put yourself, there's.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Any mindset where I can say, yes, burn my feet for.
- 22:20Speaker 1: A thou as possible. It is possible.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I guess it'd be life or death
- 22:24Speaker 3: in that scenario.
- 22:25Speaker 1: But it's like, are you are you more? You know?
- 22:28Speaker 1: Are you more averse to to temperature changes or sharp
- 22:31Speaker 1: twenty things going into your feet.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Give me legos for one thousand points.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Please swear till you have kids. But then again.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Different, you're not expecting it, Mike Iman. You walking into
- 22:40Speaker 3: your kids room, You're like, oh, hey, what son of
- 22:43Speaker 3: a versus? Okay, I'm going to do this for them
- 22:45Speaker 3: to win a champion and you know.
- 22:46Speaker 1: It hurts harder. Also, biting your tongue after you stepped
- 22:49Speaker 1: on legos. I can't us to the naughty words around kids.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I cannot argue with that. From the two six Spurs gear, Yeah, baby,
- 23:00Speaker 3: got a lot of burgers fans on here? Are we
- 23:02Speaker 3: not surprised?
- 23:03Speaker 1: No?
- 23:04Speaker 5: No?
- 23:04Speaker 3: From the two five three. Hey, Mike, you said something
- 23:06Speaker 3: to the fact that John's voice was untradable in that sense. Actually,
- 23:14Speaker 3: you know what, screw that one. I got a better one. Okay.
- 23:18Speaker 3: There was a question about hockey and I gotta find it. Uh, Okay,
- 23:24Speaker 3: here it is.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I think I know you're talking about. But go ahead,
- 23:27Speaker 1: Oh you think?
- 23:28Speaker 3: Okay, Benon, what is that is that that one? Benon?
- 23:30Speaker 3: What are your thoughts on clubs pulling the goalies overly? Okay?
- 23:34Speaker 3: You read that one? What are your thoughts on teens
- 23:37Speaker 3: pulling goalies so early in the third period these days?
- 23:39Speaker 1: That's a great question because I think for me, there
- 23:43Speaker 1: have been theories, there have been analytics to break this down,
- 23:47Speaker 1: like basically that I think you know back twenty years ago,
- 23:51Speaker 1: thirty years ago, in the nineties, two thousands, if you're
- 23:54Speaker 1: pulling the goalie earlier than a minute and a half
- 23:56Speaker 1: left in the game, it was way too early, because
- 24:00Speaker 1: if you're down by one, you know, that's leaving your
- 24:03Speaker 1: net open way, way, way too much. And the chances
- 24:06Speaker 1: back then of thought were you are giving the opponent
- 24:11Speaker 1: team too many chances to score on an empty net.
- 24:15Speaker 3: But now things have changed.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Analytics have changed to where if you pull the goaltender
- 24:21Speaker 1: with around two to three minutes left, you're fine because
- 24:26Speaker 1: all you need is one goal. But also say if
- 24:30Speaker 1: you're down by two, you're doing this with about three
- 24:33Speaker 1: minutes left, maybe even sometimes four minutes left. This is
- 24:37Speaker 1: a puck possession game. Now in the NHL, teams are
- 24:40Speaker 1: hanging on with a lot and a lot more and
- 24:42Speaker 1: once you get into and once you gain possession, you're
- 24:46Speaker 1: not letting it go, which now increases your chances of
- 24:50Speaker 1: getting a key goal back. So say if you're down
- 24:52Speaker 1: by two, you get an empty net goal and you
- 24:55Speaker 1: still have about maybe two to three minutes here to
- 24:57Speaker 1: play with it to tie things up. Where we've gone
- 25:01Speaker 1: to now, I've seen the extreme opposite of this, and
- 25:05Speaker 1: back when goaltending great Patrick Wah coached the Avalanche. He
- 25:09Speaker 1: just got fired from the Islanders. But back when he
- 25:11Speaker 1: coached the Avalanche, I saw this too. Also at the
- 25:14Speaker 1: major junior level when I work for the ever at
- 25:17Speaker 1: Silver Tips. A former NHL coach who coached them, also
- 25:21Speaker 1: Kevin Constantine, he and Patrick Waugh. Sometimes they pulled their
- 25:26Speaker 1: goaltenders with seven or eight minutes left in regulation. Now
- 25:33Speaker 1: you talk about one extreme. This is the extreme of
- 25:37Speaker 1: the extremes. So if you're gonna do it to get
- 25:41Speaker 1: back into a game, why not. I mean, it is
- 25:44Speaker 1: a complete roll of the dice. But yeah, certainly it
- 25:46Speaker 1: has changed now than say twenty years ago, where teams
- 25:50Speaker 1: aren't Teams weren't doing this until like a minute left,
- 25:52Speaker 1: but there's just not enough time then to set up
- 25:54Speaker 1: and get a good scoring chance. Now you need at
- 25:57Speaker 1: least a minute and a half two minutes to play
- 26:01Speaker 1: with to finally, you know, get a key goal, get
- 26:06Speaker 1: back to within one or also tie it up. All right,
- 26:08Speaker 1: great stuff, Ian Forness and Mayor of Mample Valley is
- 26:11Speaker 1: not too far away, he joins us.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Next.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Oh man, he came in way too late here for this,
- 26:21Speaker 1: but it doesn't mean we can't spill content over into
- 26:23Speaker 1: this final segment to coming off text line four nine,
- 26:27Speaker 1: four or five one. We were all over the place
- 26:29Speaker 1: today because of this baseball team and what they want
- 26:32Speaker 1: to be, the Stanley Cup playoffs, the cracking audit, the
- 26:37Speaker 1: NBA playoffs as well. We had a lot of NBA
- 26:39Speaker 1: chatter Mayor and Maple Valley without further ado side by
- 26:44Speaker 1: side here because our topic of conversation for the NBA
- 26:49Speaker 1: was would you buy Spurs paraphernalia if they beat OKAYC
- 26:53Speaker 1: And we had a lot of reaction on this. The
- 26:56Speaker 1: fuck your guy? Keith checks in here for the two three.
- 27:00Speaker 1: He's early, he's early, but he is on the spot.
- 27:04Speaker 1: He's what you call p one in the business. Listens
- 27:06Speaker 1: all the time. Keith the two five three says I
- 27:09Speaker 1: would listen to Neil's promo on the mail anatomy for
- 27:13Speaker 1: twenty four hours straight. If the Spurs can handle business, Wow.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Oh so we're talking about like what what price would
- 27:19Speaker 1: you pay?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yes?
- 27:20Speaker 1: Yeah, heavy one. We had people say I will walk
- 27:24Speaker 1: barefoot through one thousand legos for the Spurs to win
- 27:28Speaker 1: this series. Would you walk barefoot over coals?
- 27:33Speaker 2: No?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Or would you want barefoot or would you want barefoot
- 27:36Speaker 1: over a bed of nails? If the Spurs can win
- 27:38Speaker 1: this series?
- 27:39Speaker 6: No, you have to pick one or the other. I'm
- 27:41Speaker 6: picking neither. I'll take the legos the Finder can win.
- 27:44Speaker 6: At that point, I don't care. I'll do legos if
- 27:45Speaker 6: I have to mind over. Come on, No, listen you
- 27:49Speaker 6: legos are way like hurt.
- 27:51Speaker 3: They hurt.
- 27:52Speaker 1: But I told you I've had kids. Man, they your
- 27:55Speaker 1: tone of about the naughty words out after that, I've
- 27:57Speaker 1: had colds and nails.
- 27:59Speaker 3: I'm taking legos.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Like, yeah, Cole's nails, Legos, I'm going legos.
- 28:03Speaker 2: You serious?
- 28:03Speaker 3: That's easy.
- 28:04Speaker 1: There are people who are willing to walk over coles
- 28:06Speaker 1: that the Spurs can win this series.
- 28:07Speaker 6: How is the audit going for you? Have you been
- 28:11Speaker 6: contacted yet? Have they talked to the job have they
- 28:14Speaker 6: told you, hey, captain listen network Central Cracking Audio Network.
- 28:19Speaker 6: The audit is not what we're all day to day.
- 28:23Speaker 1: We're all day to day. Can you imagine, Yeah, the audit.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Somebody texted in and they go, when we first brought
- 28:29Speaker 6: up the audit, they go, what are they gonna find
- 28:30Speaker 6: with you guys.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't.
- 28:32Speaker 6: I don't think they're worried about us, not that they
- 28:34Speaker 6: shouldn't be there in terms of the pecking order and
- 28:39Speaker 6: the concern level. Uh, broadcasting is not among them. Well,
- 28:45Speaker 6: I think the radio would be. I mean, I think
- 28:47Speaker 6: you and ever Itt and Fits I think it now
- 28:52Speaker 6: I should say, Fits.
- 28:54Speaker 3: This is rasure.
- 28:55Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 28:56Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 28:56Speaker 6: No, no, no, yeah, I don't know. I thought Johnny
- 28:59Speaker 6: was good. I'd be interesting see what they say with
- 29:00Speaker 6: this audit thing. But we're a month in now, a
- 29:03Speaker 6: month well, they only announced that it's these guys a
- 29:05Speaker 6: little while ago.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So and then but then in hindsight, drafts a month away,
- 29:12Speaker 1: July one's gonna sneak right up on you. Yeah, no,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, I agree, I agree. What about
- 29:17Speaker 1: this baseball team though, man, Like I mean I said
- 29:19Speaker 1: this after yesterday because I took my eight year old.
- 29:21Speaker 1: But by the way, thank you first setting it up.
- 29:24Speaker 1: That was phenomenal. We we do this what's that? Who
- 29:28Speaker 1: is behind you? I think you saw the photo. It
- 29:31Speaker 1: was a random guy sitting behind us. But I texted
- 29:33Speaker 1: this here to the Baseball group chat. You know, you me,
- 29:36Speaker 1: I'm the honorary Mullywop guy here for this. Yes, we
- 29:38Speaker 1: had one of those guys where if you've seen instagram
- 29:41Speaker 1: the memes, it's that meme of Clint Eastwood from grand
- 29:44Speaker 1: Tono and he's sitting on his back porch trying to
- 29:48Speaker 1: sip his paps, blue ribbon gnarl on his face like
- 29:52Speaker 1: these kids. And we had a guy right behind us
- 29:56Speaker 1: talking about everything from why can't guys the major leagues
- 30:01Speaker 1: catch with two hands all the time? And then can
- 30:05Speaker 1: you imagine if someone asked lou Brock to wear a
- 30:08Speaker 1: sliding mit and that was only by the second inning?
- 30:13Speaker 1: So old man yelling at clouds is what he was.
- 30:15Speaker 1: He was truly old man yelling at clouds. Oh my gosh,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I wish you'd had you guys.
- 30:20Speaker 6: I wish I would have had you guys right in
- 30:21Speaker 6: the row. Did he get mad if guys didn't run
- 30:23Speaker 6: out of ground out? I think I heard that too, Yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 6: I heard that.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, it's a different to hey, different era man I.
- 30:30Speaker 6: Don't those those sliding mits are dumb looking, I think,
- 30:32Speaker 6: but whatever if they if they prevent injuries and get.
- 30:35Speaker 1: What I used batting gloves back then, and they got
- 30:37Speaker 1: torn up about probably a week or two weeks into
- 30:39Speaker 1: the season. Now, Like I mean, my eleven year old's
- 30:42Speaker 1: got one, he's got teammates who has one. And it's
- 30:44Speaker 1: not just having a slide emit, but like you have
- 30:46Speaker 1: to have one that has like a space alien or
- 30:48Speaker 1: an ice cream look on it. It's just it's a
- 30:51Speaker 1: different thing.
- 30:51Speaker 6: It used to be that the kids playing baseball they
- 30:53Speaker 6: just had to have, like the do they still have
- 30:55Speaker 6: to have like the titanium necklaces and all that kind
- 30:58Speaker 6: of stuff. Yeah, and now and now the kids is
- 31:01Speaker 6: a baseball rip? Why is that a baseball thing? Like
- 31:03Speaker 6: the titanium necklaces, the arm sleeves, that kind of stuff
- 31:07Speaker 6: that is like very much a baseball thing, especially a
- 31:10Speaker 6: kid's baseball.
- 31:11Speaker 1: The arm sleeve thing, I guess has to do with compression.
- 31:14Speaker 1: And I mean, I think to me, it's you see
- 31:17Speaker 1: guys in the major leagues who wear this stuff and
- 31:19Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, the kids, Yeah, they they
- 31:22Speaker 1: can't compute, they don't compute and they just say, oh,
- 31:25Speaker 1: this guy's wearing this thing. I want to be like
- 31:28Speaker 1: this guy. I must wear everything he wears. And they
- 31:31Speaker 1: wear compression sleeves, gotcha, but they eat. But also when
- 31:35Speaker 1: you get into the thing with the compression sleeves, like
- 31:37Speaker 1: I saw this about two years ago with my you know,
- 31:39Speaker 1: now eleven year old and he's a pitcher. Also, if
- 31:42Speaker 1: you go out and wear a compression sleeve, the umpire
- 31:45Speaker 1: tells you take it off. Yeah, yeah, you get to
- 31:47Speaker 1: take it off and take the glasses off. Also because
- 31:50Speaker 1: the glasses are a safety thing unless you have a prescription.
- 31:53Speaker 1: But also the arm sleeve that also, you know, can
- 31:56Speaker 1: tend to mess with the batter's eye and it becomes
- 31:59Speaker 1: like an extreme disa And so they'd tell them just
- 32:01Speaker 1: to get rid of it. All that, all that stuff
- 32:05Speaker 1: is it is just making mom and dad pay more money. Exactly.
- 32:07Speaker 1: It's just cost mom and dad. What was baseball become now?
- 32:10Speaker 6: Because your kid has to have exactly, yeah, your kid
- 32:13Speaker 6: has to have all those things.
- 32:14Speaker 1: And look, I remember a basket, remember kid?
- 32:16Speaker 6: Remember when the basketball shooting sleeves started coming about a
- 32:19Speaker 6: few years ago, that was like the big thing everyone's
- 32:20Speaker 6: got to have a shooting sleeve and basketball.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I think.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Also, let me take it way back for you mayor
- 32:25Speaker 3: if you remember this the era of the headband. I
- 32:29Speaker 3: used to wear headbands to church. I would wear I
- 32:32Speaker 3: was I had like twenty I had a little box,
- 32:34Speaker 3: a shoe box, all different colors. And my mom was
- 32:38Speaker 3: just like, you can have this, because you.
- 32:39Speaker 6: Know the one that I saw this would have been
- 32:42Speaker 6: how many see five four or five? Eight years ago?
- 32:47Speaker 6: Eight nine years ago? I remember there was a couple
- 32:50Speaker 6: like kids playing like there's a big thing with not
- 32:53Speaker 6: just the headbands, but kind of more the kind of
- 32:55Speaker 6: the do not do rags, but kind of like white
- 32:57Speaker 6: kids wearing like the kind of like the Mitch Harbor Yeah, yep,
- 33:01Speaker 6: rag right over the head that we always used to
- 33:04Speaker 6: laugh because the people that did. There's two schools in
- 33:06Speaker 6: our area, their feeder teams and AU teams and then
- 33:09Speaker 6: their high school team would all wear it and whoa
- 33:13Speaker 6: and if you like, and it was like and they
- 33:15Speaker 6: both those teams look the same. They're all a bunch
- 33:17Speaker 6: of they're all a bunch of you know, Tryhard's a
- 33:20Speaker 6: bunch of try hard white kids that rolled in and
- 33:22Speaker 6: they had that had had that head seat.
- 33:24Speaker 1: That's some version of a headband on.
- 33:26Speaker 6: I came from the the exact same kids.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I came from the if you wear a head band,
- 33:33Speaker 1: it's like, we're an intent advisor at hockey. You best
- 33:36Speaker 1: be good at what you do or you're gonna get
- 33:38Speaker 1: shirped all night. Yeah, you got it. You better be
- 33:40Speaker 1: really good. I had a point guard for our college
- 33:42Speaker 1: team back and when I was going to Annai school.
- 33:45Speaker 1: It was a Caleb Gerb and he was the nephew
- 33:47Speaker 1: of George Gerb and the iceman. Oh yeah he was.
- 33:49Speaker 1: He was sick. Yeah, he was sick. So he wore
- 33:51Speaker 1: a head band though. A referee one time for a
- 33:54Speaker 1: game that we had, it was a conference championship game
- 33:57Speaker 1: told him you had to remove the head band because
- 34:00Speaker 1: because it had an NBA logo on it, it wasn't
- 34:03Speaker 1: allowed in our conference. But yeah, he would also like
- 34:06Speaker 1: he would do extremely What his answer should have been,
- 34:08Speaker 1: I'm related to the iceman. Who do you think you will?
- 34:12Speaker 1: I'm related to the iceman.
- 34:13Speaker 6: I called him baby and anybody else anybody ever watched
- 34:15Speaker 6: the ice fan play that dude was.
- 34:17Speaker 1: He was the real real deal. I call his games
- 34:21Speaker 1: and I called him Baby Ice on the air, and
- 34:23Speaker 1: he played like Baby Ice. He was incredible, but he
- 34:25Speaker 1: also did did things like her. He wore like also
- 34:27Speaker 1: not it wasn't like an armsley thing, but he wore
- 34:29Speaker 1: like one time he wore like one knee high sock
- 34:32Speaker 1: and then one like no sock. Look, see I'm old.
- 34:35Speaker 6: When I was growing up, the look that you wanted
- 34:37Speaker 6: to have back in the day, like and I'm talking
- 34:40Speaker 6: grade school Cyo playing for our Lady of Fatima was
- 34:44Speaker 6: the late great Slick Watts. And if you look at
- 34:47Speaker 6: some picks of Slick, Slick had a headband, he had
- 34:50Speaker 6: elbow pads, knee pads, and about eighteen wristbands.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Man, he could play all the sports of that.
- 34:56Speaker 1: He was.
- 34:57Speaker 6: Slick was ahead of his time. Yes, the thing was
- 34:59Speaker 6: he con do it because he was slick. But every kid,
- 35:02Speaker 6: every kid wanted to look like Slick was my dad's
- 35:04Speaker 6: jam back. Loved some slick Every kid watched. Every kid
- 35:07Speaker 6: wanted to look like slick Watch, and everybody had to
- 35:09Speaker 6: have the green head band. Well, our school colors are blue. No,
- 35:12Speaker 6: I'm gonna have a green head band. Slick Watch has
- 35:14Speaker 6: a green head band. Yeah, this is this baseball team. Man,
- 35:17Speaker 6: where are we at and what you have coming up here? Well,
- 35:19Speaker 6: we'll talk about it. Good series win, that's all you
- 35:21Speaker 6: can ask for. You mentioned it earlier. I think it's
- 35:24Speaker 6: an interesting dynamic coming up the next few days.
- 35:25Speaker 1: They got to go.
- 35:26Speaker 6: They take on teams that can't pitch, which is good.
- 35:29Speaker 6: That should help. Probably won't get one hit in the
- 35:31Speaker 6: next few next six games, but that was changed it.
- 35:33Speaker 6: By the way, what's that you had jinxed it? By
- 35:35Speaker 6: the way, that'll be fine. So we got that going on.
- 35:39Speaker 6: Edzoe is going to join us at twelve twenty. Oh yeah,
- 35:41Speaker 6: we had the whole TV booth in the today. Yeah,
- 35:43Speaker 6: we're gonna just yeah, we might as well. I've had
- 35:45Speaker 6: people Whin's edge coming on. So I text him he's now.
- 35:48Speaker 6: He hasn't texted me back this morning. Confirmed the other day,
- 35:51Speaker 6: you know. So it's kind of like when we do
- 35:53Speaker 6: the TV show, he'll be there. He'll be there. He
- 35:55Speaker 6: shows up, he'd roll in there right before. Are we
- 35:58Speaker 6: rehearsing and it's we that a while ago.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Don't worry, guys, fresh off the plane and he is
- 36:02Speaker 1: on the air man. Oh, it's unreal.
- 36:04Speaker 6: Anyways, one of the kinds we'll get him on you know,
