- 0:50SPEAKER_01: They really have.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: What stood out to you and them?
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: I think, of course, the um talking about Sister Janet particularly, talking about how their parents influenced them in the choices they made for life.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And that's so important that we direct our children in the way they should go.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: So we would encourage you to go back, listen to those, and uh download them and pass them on to other people.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Encourage others to listen to our podcast.

- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Today we've got special guests with us again.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: It's Rick and Connie Binkley.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: They're from Hodginville, Kentucky.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: And it goes a little deeper than that because Connie is Debbie's sister.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Well, they've come to T South Dakota to um enjoy a little bit of time uh as uh family.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: We're getting together.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: And I'd tell you to have two of these Lorettes in one house, dear Jesus, give us help.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: He's blessed.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: He's blessed, double blessed.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're uh Brother Rick and I are having to kind of get away every once in a while and calm down.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: And you know, we uh I mean, when we do get away, hurry him and I, um we don't say anything because there's so much said when we're with the two.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: But anyway, hey, it's good to have you, Rick.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: It's a joy to be with you this morning.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: It's good to have you, Connie.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Always.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: And we're we're looking forward to interviewing them as we have done in the past.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: This has been uh kind of where we're taking a little sachet from our marriage conferences and uh uh just kind of interviewing people.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: It's kind of fun, isn't it, Deb?
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: It's been very interesting and and I've enjoyed it.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: So back to Rick and Connie.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: Give us a little history, Rick, uh, from where you're from.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, years ago I pastored a little old church in a little bitty town called Lola, Kentucky.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: And one of the best members that we had was Richard Binkley.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: And uh he was so kind.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: Most of the time he'd ride his motorcycle to his Honda Shadow Shadow, that's right.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Or drive that red Pontiac Oldsmobile.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Oldsmobile.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, what was the makeup?
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: What was it?
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: It was a cutlass.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Cutless, yeah.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: And uh, man, anything we would ask of him, he would do.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Uh he was a great supporter of us, and even in later times of the church that we started there in Salem, a great supporter, but it's it's a privilege to have him uh because we our lives have been so intertwined that uh now uh we're gonna start back.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Uh brother Rick, give us a little history of of your life, where are you from, and just right now, let's start with that.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: Okay, thank you, Brother Sanders.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Joy to be with you today.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: We were uh born in Painesville, Ohio back in 1957.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: Um moved to Kentucky with my parents at the age of uh one and a half years old, back to western Kentucky, where my father was born and raised, and from there we went to Bible school.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: And then Where'd you go to Bible school?
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: We went to Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, Pennsylvania.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Give me a little info on your raising.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: Was your parents Christians?
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Not at the time they became Christians, uh around 1960, early sixties.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: My uh father got saved, miraculously got saved, and um our home, our family totally changed.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: My mother got saved a week later, and God just miraculously strengthened their marriage in our home, and they started taking us to church, and I became a Christian.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: About what age do you remember giving your life to Christ?
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Six years of age.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: I remember on a Sunday morning God dealing with me and going to the front pew and just praying and weeping, and the pastor's wife coming over and laying her arm across my shoulder and praying with me and talking with me.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: And that started my journey with the Lord.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, praise the Lord.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Man, I love to hear those testimonies.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Don't you, Deb?
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: And uh and from that point on, you guys then uh just pretty well cemented yourself with the Christ and going to church.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Do you have siblings?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Yes, I do.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: I have two brothers and two sisters.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: My mother's still alive, and they were great influence on me becoming a Christian and living for God.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: My father, I watched his life day in, day out, and he was a preacher backer, oh yeah, worker in the church.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Forrest Binkley, I'll never forget him.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: He took us work days, um Saturdays, you name it.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: We were there working at the church, and God just started from there working in our lives.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: And praise the Lord.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: What a great testimony of raising your children.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Connie, what about you?
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: I know I probably know as much about you as you know about you.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: No, I know more.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Well, I was raised in a pastor's home and worked for the Lord and came to the Lord.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Another PK.
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: And I was saved around five, as far back as I can remember.
- 6:32SPEAKER_04: You know, you asked the Lord to forgive you several times.
- 6:35SPEAKER_04: I don't know when the first time was, but it was young, and I'm thankful for um being able to be raised in a Christian home.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: And where was that location?
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: Columbus, Ohio.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: But God forgave you and brought you south.
- 6:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: And what did you do?
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: What was your activities were you involved in?
- 7:00SPEAKER_04: Well, everything and anything.
- 7:01SPEAKER_04: You know, I wasn't always the best.
- 7:03SPEAKER_04: Debbie was the best singer.
- 7:05SPEAKER_04: Oh no.
- 7:06SPEAKER_04: Best piano player.
- 7:08SPEAKER_04: She tried to teach me, but that didn't go too good.
- 7:11SPEAKER_04: So I had to get a piano teacher.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: But anything, you know, cleaning the church, and my mom said that was the cleanest our church ever was, you know.
- 7:22SPEAKER_04: And working in the Christian school, and I just made myself available.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: I wasn't always the best, but I didn't let that hinder me.
- 7:30SPEAKER_04: I would try.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Rick.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: I got the best.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: I disagree.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: Uh so then uh from that point, did did you attend a Bible college?
- 7:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I felt in my high school years, you know, I wanted to do more for God and draw closer to God.
- 7:48SPEAKER_04: And it just seemed to be the thing, you know, God wanted me to do.
- 7:53SPEAKER_04: And I I went to export as well and free gospel, and Rick followed me there.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: So you led him before you went to Bible school.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm just kidding.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: But I know the Lord let him.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Well, that's that's a that kind of a background right there.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: So, uh, you know, as a little little info, as we've already said, Connie is Debbie's sister, so this is going to be quite an interesting interview over the next several uh two or three podcasts.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Because what she tells on herself, I mean what she tells, I may have to straighten her out and correct her.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: Well, you are the older one.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's right.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Let's see.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: How old are you?
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Forty.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: She is ten years younger than me.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: And you're how old should we tell the world.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: But uh uh you know, my next question probably has to do with uh how and where did you meet?
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: Well, in about 1983, I went down to visit my sister and and uh met Rick at church, and he had heard that my mom came there to when she came there to do a seminar for Sunday school.
- 9:08SPEAKER_04: He heard she had a daughter, and he I think she showed him a picture.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: She did.
- 9:16SPEAKER_04: So then we, you know, talked and went out a couple times before Bible school.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: You know, I was the baby.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: I guess I thought he was good looking or something, you know, the mustache, the muscles, the money, the motorcycle.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: This is getting pretty pretty bad, right?
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: My motorcycle.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: But he was he was mature, he was easy to talk to.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: I think those were the two things.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: And he loved the Lord, wanted to do something for God.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: So what is the age difference between you two?
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Eight years.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: Um Rick, you have anything to say about that?
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: The age?
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: No, uh, about you meeting her and how that all pro progressed.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: I remember my first time meeting her.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: I can tell you what color dress she had on.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Wow, remember that.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: And to the church.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: And uh walked in, and there she stood in the aisle up by the altar talking.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: And so uh from there we began to talk and visit some when they would come down.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: And I guess really what started uh deepening our relationship, I went to the Holy Lands on a tour, and uh she just thought Southern Southern hospitality and southern manners from Southern Guy was great because he's a northerner in the I understand that somehow.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: Well, mom and dad did tours some to the Holy Lands, and he went, you know, and I went and we were some of the few young ones, you know, so I had to hang out with them.
- 11:07SPEAKER_04: You just had to.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Well, that's kind of a uh intro right there for them and and how they met and where they're from.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: And uh we're just uh glad they did.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Uh and we'll talk a little bit more on our next podcast uh about their life from that point uh on up to where they went into the ministry.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: But we'd like to say thank you for tuning in, and we appreciate you uh liking our podcast, uh downloading our podcast, and you know what?
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Share them.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Tell somebody else about what's going on.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: And um we appreciate that.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Hey, give us a touch, will you?
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Contact us uh with an email or our website.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Sanders Ministries at gmail.com.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, check out our website.

- 12:14SPEAKER_01: So God bless.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
