- 0:09Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:15Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Well, they'll be a regular show next Tuesday,
- 0:21Speaker 1: which which you don't really need to listen to because
- 0:23Speaker 1: I won't be here. We need Derek for that. We
- 0:25Speaker 1: used to direct that to the Travel culture travel department. Food,
- 0:30Speaker 1: aren't you? They're not sports guys, these are news guys. Really,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I just thought it was He's faced the nation. I
- 0:39Speaker 1: did hurtling and try I eat poop once and tripped
- 0:43Speaker 1: right over. That was embarrassing and I sprained my wrist,
- 0:45Speaker 1: but I almost had it almost doesn't count. Your point
- 0:49Speaker 1: about the tight ends is unargued. Argued, not argue either way.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You can't argue about it. Sports are heart? Do you
- 0:54Speaker 1: like raisins? How do you feel about a day? I
- 1:00Speaker 1: do like that, and I've been dissaulted many times in
- 1:02Speaker 1: my life, So yeah. But is Patriot's Unfiltered? All right?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Gilette Stadium,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and it's deuced. It's Alex, it's Paul, it's me and
- 1:18Speaker 1: Matisse in the booth. It's almost the weekend, Fred, Oh yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 1: almost time for the week I know, the weekend, the weekend.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, the guy, the guy, Yeah, setting up right
- 1:28Speaker 1: outside her office right now, dressing room right there. Can't
- 1:31Speaker 1: can't go to the bathroom during the show. So, I mean,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I don't know if, like when did he decide to
- 1:36Speaker 1: call himself the weekend because it's kind of clever marketing. Yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I was wondering that when I saw it, and what
- 1:40Speaker 1: happened to the E and end? Like why is it weekend?
- 1:43Speaker 1: I figured people all already knew all that stuff, and
- 1:45Speaker 1: I was just like being the old that's got to
- 1:50Speaker 1: be some kind of because it's like a Twitter meme.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You know, you have the craig from James Bond on
- 1:55Speaker 1: Saturday Live when he said, ladies and gentlemen, the weekend
- 1:58Speaker 1: that everybody posts on Friday, you know. Yeah, yeah, Well,
- 2:02Speaker 1: strangely enough, the Weekend is not playing on the weekend here,
- 2:04Speaker 1: He's playing on Thursday night. So right, enjoy the concert.
- 2:07Speaker 1: If you're going to be hot, be safe. Bring water
- 2:10Speaker 1: is just one night only, I think. Yeah. T Tease
- 2:14Speaker 1: was excited about the opener, though, T was, who is that?
- 2:18Speaker 1: I can't talk. You have to talk into the mic.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Do how to do it? We haven't shown him that yet,
- 2:23Speaker 1: purpose Indian name. I don't think we'll ever get it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Not him, no oh geez. I saw him opened up
- 2:32Speaker 1: for Taylor Swift. N see. I would say that that
- 2:35Speaker 1: was good. They're good. I would I know, DJ being
- 2:38Speaker 1: that guy he loves he loves him some him. Yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 1: girls from the valley out in la oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I even heard of it anyway, Um, sisters, we are
- 2:48Speaker 1: now less than a week away from the first day
- 2:51Speaker 1: of public camp. Yeah, and I'm not ready. No, I'm
- 2:56Speaker 1: you're not ready. I'm swamp who is? Wow? Well, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: just found out that they put us on the blue
- 3:02Speaker 1: level for the our radio spot. Switched us. Yeah, I
- 3:05Speaker 1: don't know why, And so I want somebody to scout
- 3:08Speaker 1: that out because EI ninety five, eight ninety point five,
- 3:11Speaker 1: we're gonna be there too, on the red level. So
- 3:13Speaker 1: why are we on the blue level? Stay. A conversation
- 3:16Speaker 1: they have with you yesterday evidently was Stacy said, I
- 3:20Speaker 1: assumed you didn't want to be by the other radio stations.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I'm like, I want to be at the best spot.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I specific Yeah, so is red the top one. Yeah, certiny, Now,
- 3:29Speaker 1: so it's too high, motist, you can just shake your head.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Just Chris gonna go up and check that out. Okay,
- 3:35Speaker 1: so I have someone scouting it out and it's not
- 3:38Speaker 1: as good or well, it's higher. It's gonna be the
- 3:40Speaker 1: same vantage point, but it's higher. It's around the corner though,
- 3:43Speaker 1: isn't it like, well you can go wherever you want,
- 3:45Speaker 1: all right, I don't know. It is higher though, Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: we don't need to be that high. I thought they
- 3:50Speaker 1: I mean, I thought there was a reason that they
- 3:51Speaker 1: asked us and we said the red level. Right, it's
- 3:54Speaker 1: really far anyway, I got the big buyos. I don't care.
- 3:57Speaker 1: So there's a lot going on here on Amazon. I
- 4:00Speaker 1: saw purple param make the investment be better. Yeah, you
- 4:05Speaker 1: get those buy anox you're gonna I have to use them.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah you know. I just asked dudes who that was
- 4:12Speaker 1: because worked well for me for twenty years. During the game,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'm looking down this computer screen, which is one set
- 4:18Speaker 1: of eyes, and then when I look up, if I
- 4:20Speaker 1: don't have the binoculus, I can't see a thing. Yeah,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, especially on the camp but it's all spread
- 4:25Speaker 1: out and you know, there's random people on the sidelines.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Who's that John bon Jovie, right, those kind of people
- 4:29Speaker 1: you gotta you gotta zoom in. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll
- 4:32Speaker 1: zoom in. That's why I just asked, dudes, who is
- 4:34Speaker 1: that we got? Can you see the logo on that
- 4:37Speaker 1: college football guys shirt? Say? Oh, so and so, so
- 4:43Speaker 1: what do you what are we doing? What? What's what's
- 4:45Speaker 1: what's the news? I feel like there's you know, the
- 4:49Speaker 1: NFL news is startinger perk up. You know, we're getting
- 4:52Speaker 1: some movement transaction reports. So we had the rookies are reporting,
- 4:56Speaker 1: quarterbacks are reporting today. Yep. Um, they signed a us
- 5:00Speaker 1: FFL guy too. Someone wrote in last week. I think
- 5:04Speaker 1: it was asking about or giving some scouting reports on
- 5:08Speaker 1: some USFL teams. I didn't really I didn't know where
- 5:11Speaker 1: to start to try to say who they might sign.
- 5:13Speaker 1: But but they did sign this one guy, who I
- 5:15Speaker 1: guess is um, you know, a little bit of an
- 5:17Speaker 1: interior defensive lineman. I don't know. I mean, I would
- 5:20Speaker 1: it would still make more sense to me to get
- 5:22Speaker 1: like an edge guy, but I don't know. They've just
- 5:24Speaker 1: got a lot of bodies there on the inside now,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and that will see how he he kind of stacks up.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I wonder if maybe that has to do with buying Coward.
- 5:29Speaker 1: He's he's a guy that's probably guess been hurt for
- 5:32Speaker 1: a while. It's a camp body. Um. You know if
- 5:35Speaker 1: you have a like a veteran that you signed at
- 5:37Speaker 1: this time of year, you know, like the Bucks signed
- 5:39Speaker 1: Kyle Rudolph, that's a big signing, right, so he'll probably
- 5:43Speaker 1: have an opportunity to be in the mix. And you
- 5:46Speaker 1: know everybody around here has tied Trey Flowers to the Patriots.
- 5:51Speaker 1: He's still unsigned, right, if he would were to sign
- 5:54Speaker 1: sometime between now, in camp or whatever, or even after
- 5:57Speaker 1: camp starts, he'll have every opportunity to make the team.
- 5:59Speaker 1: He's an established player, right, you know this farms Farms,
- 6:03Speaker 1: farms Worth Farm. You know, he's he provides depth that camp. Yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 1: you need those guys. I mean, those guys provide younts,
- 6:11Speaker 1: They provide a service you need. You need the guys
- 6:13Speaker 1: to be able to run the drills. And Mike is right,
- 6:16Speaker 1: it's probably an indication that somebody won't be ready when
- 6:19Speaker 1: when camp does open. And Byron Cowart we haven't really
- 6:22Speaker 1: seen in two years. Yeah, but they still have a
- 6:24Speaker 1: few spots too. I think right now they're think at
- 6:27Speaker 1: eighty six, so they still got a few spots to
- 6:29Speaker 1: work with it. I mean, I think that's kind of
- 6:30Speaker 1: interesting that because I don't even think last year they
- 6:32Speaker 1: ever really, I don't think they ever had ninety Yeah,
- 6:35Speaker 1: oh really last year. If I remember that correctly, I
- 6:39Speaker 1: might be mistaken that with the different I don't know.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think you're right, And I mean also, I don't
- 6:43Speaker 1: think that they filled the practice squad completely for good
- 6:45Speaker 1: chunks of last year because you don't. I mean, I
- 6:47Speaker 1: don't know about the practice squad. I think there's probably
- 6:49Speaker 1: a need for that, but you don't need ninety guys
- 6:51Speaker 1: at camp. Yeah, yeah, you know, like you can you
- 6:55Speaker 1: can get by, especially when you're dealing with guys that
- 6:59Speaker 1: you yeah, you know, yeah, who's got a shot. It's crazy,
- 7:03Speaker 1: like when they have that many guys in the locker room,
- 7:07Speaker 1: they have to add lockers obviously because they don't have
- 7:09Speaker 1: ninety lockers, so they put these metal lockers down the
- 7:12Speaker 1: middle of the locker room. It makes it for a
- 7:14Speaker 1: crowded a crowded space. Yeah. Well, even I remember I
- 7:19Speaker 1: remember there being some extra spots my first year. Well,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I mean, but we haven't been in the locker room since,
- 7:23Speaker 1: so I wonder if they they probably spread out more.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I would guess during COVID, like using other locker rooms
- 7:28Speaker 1: and stuff. Maybe I think they did. Maybe that carries over.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I think they had spaces between each guy, and I
- 7:32Speaker 1: think they expanded into the visiting locker room maybe or
- 7:35Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah, yeah, but look like, look like
- 7:38Speaker 1: the rookies were all maybe doing their conditioning tests. Who
- 7:40Speaker 1: saw the video on patriots dot com that they posted,
- 7:42Speaker 1: So they were out there close strange locking the mustache.
- 7:45Speaker 1: They were definitely doing sprints. They look that one clip
- 7:48Speaker 1: of them running across they just looks oh, and it's
- 7:52Speaker 1: so hard everybody's experienced in the United States now, so
- 7:57Speaker 1: it's actually not as hot here as it is some
- 7:59Speaker 1: places like Oklahoma's like one ten. Yeah, well this is
- 8:02Speaker 1: this Today is the kind of the hottest day. I mean,
- 8:04Speaker 1: even just sitting in here, I feel kind of racists.
- 8:07Speaker 1: In England, it's so hot that they just don't even
- 8:09Speaker 1: the fires and stuff. In Europe right now, in Greece
- 8:12Speaker 1: and Portal, it's crazy. Yeah, the world Belichick is probably
- 8:15Speaker 1: like good good. I like it. Yeah, I mean especially
- 8:20Speaker 1: with I mean, we've talked plenty about Miami and going
- 8:23Speaker 1: to Vegas to practice. I mean, there's gonna be a
- 8:25Speaker 1: lot of hot practice to these guys. We'll see if
- 8:28Speaker 1: it makes a difference in Miami and you know, pays
- 8:30Speaker 1: off if you know, extensive practice and that does prepare
- 8:34Speaker 1: you for it, or if it's just I just feel
- 8:36Speaker 1: like the first game of the season, no matter what,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you're not ready. Like I mean, I find it very
- 8:41Speaker 1: hard to think that you could practice enough, especially with
- 8:44Speaker 1: the break you have from that third preseason game now
- 8:46Speaker 1: where you have two weeks. Basically you're never and no
- 8:50Speaker 1: no starter plays a whole game in preseason, so the
- 8:53Speaker 1: first time you do that is in the regular season,
- 8:56Speaker 1: you know, So like you said, you're really not ready
- 8:59Speaker 1: that I just I don't see how you could possibly
- 9:02Speaker 1: be in shape unless it was, you know, week four
- 9:04Speaker 1: and you've had four weeks, three weeks of games and
- 9:07Speaker 1: you played a bunch. But it's just no matter how
- 9:09Speaker 1: much you want to go through an NFL practice in
- 9:11Speaker 1: the heat, great, but it's just not the same. And
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think it, you know, like Ted Harper is our nutritionist,
- 9:17Speaker 1: to me, this is his toughest time of the year
- 9:20Speaker 1: because guys come in and you know, different guys need
- 9:24Speaker 1: different things. Linemen, right, have to keep weight on during
- 9:28Speaker 1: this time of year because they lose probably six seven
- 9:30Speaker 1: pounds a day, if not more. So they're putting on calories,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you know, while keeping hydrated. While a guy like Thornton,
- 9:38Speaker 1: you know, his risk could get even smaller, right right,
- 9:41Speaker 1: But like you know, so it's like maintaining guys football
- 9:47Speaker 1: weight in condition is tough this time of year. They
- 9:51Speaker 1: all have like an individualized plans for a lot of
- 9:54Speaker 1: that absolutely downstairs and nutrition is it's really really cool. Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I would say it's a lot of pressure, you know, yeah,
- 10:02Speaker 1: I mean, but it's like how do you how do
- 10:05Speaker 1: you how do you create it? You know, like how
- 10:07Speaker 1: do you say, wow, Ted did a bad job? Like
- 10:09Speaker 1: this guy's losing a lot of too much weight. I
- 10:11Speaker 1: mean I guess that would be it, right, Yeah, it's
- 10:13Speaker 1: because they weigh these guys probably every day during camp
- 10:15Speaker 1: stay around. But a guy like Trump Brown, it's like,
- 10:18Speaker 1: how do you It's it's to follow the plan. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 1: the plan's not going to be flawed. But what if
- 10:22Speaker 1: I follow the plan and it doesn't work or you know,
- 10:25Speaker 1: but like that then you didn't follow the plan. As
- 10:28Speaker 1: my point, why because with Alex said, like, they all
- 10:32Speaker 1: have individual point I know, but like, but what if
- 10:35Speaker 1: I what if I gave Paul Parolo the wrong plan?
- 10:38Speaker 1: I think that's hard to imagine. Okay, I'm serious, I
- 10:43Speaker 1: don't know. Sorry, I was just imagining what the Paul
- 10:44Speaker 1: Parola plan. I just like and I and you, and
- 10:47Speaker 1: you wonder, and you wonder, and you wonder. Like it's
- 10:52Speaker 1: Ted Harper, you know, spending as much time thinking about
- 10:56Speaker 1: guy number ninety as he does. You know, the guys
- 10:59Speaker 1: that are definitely going to be here, the guys with
- 11:01Speaker 1: like contract incentives to lose or gain probably would get priorities.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Karon Brown, he must be all all like that's all
- 11:09Speaker 1: he's thinking about all offseasons. I wish, I wish, But
- 11:13Speaker 1: the thing that but when you said that this is
- 11:15Speaker 1: probably a stressful time for him, I agree, But I
- 11:18Speaker 1: was more thinking of it's the only time a year
- 11:20Speaker 1: really that they were away from here, you know, when
- 11:23Speaker 1: once the spring stuff ends. Yeah, there's like four or
- 11:26Speaker 1: five weeks for most of the players that they're on
- 11:29Speaker 1: their own, and like who knows how they come back.
- 11:32Speaker 1: That would be the stressful thing for me. It's like
- 11:34Speaker 1: that old story that Will mcdonneh used to talk about Bill. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 1: he was golfing with Belichick once and Bills up on
- 11:39Speaker 1: the first team getting ready to take his shot, and
- 11:41Speaker 1: he just like backs away. He's like starts mumbling swearing
- 11:43Speaker 1: to himself, and Will's like, what's what's the matter. He's like,
- 11:46Speaker 1: you never know what these guys you're doing. You never
- 11:48Speaker 1: know the trouble, Like that's what he was thinking about,
- 11:51Speaker 1: no matter what you tell him. And Will's like, if
- 11:54Speaker 1: you can't if you can't handle that, you're never gonna
- 11:57Speaker 1: This is when he was the head coach at Cleve Cleveland. Yeah, wow,
- 12:00Speaker 1: it's like you never know what these guys are doing
- 12:02Speaker 1: once they leave them not supposed to be the time
- 12:06Speaker 1: where I'm gonna put my trouble aside for a little
- 12:08Speaker 1: bit and enjoy this game. Still thinking about what are
- 12:11Speaker 1: those dumbasses going to be doing out there right right?
- 12:13Speaker 1: Like that's like what's grinded on it. It's like it's
- 12:15Speaker 1: like it's like having your kid in high school with
- 12:19Speaker 1: his driver's license times fifty three cost story. Yeahs of
- 12:23Speaker 1: the stress of Yeah, every time they go out at night,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you're like, oh, they're smart, smart, smart. Yeah. Yeah, so
- 12:32Speaker 1: that's what you're doing with every guy you know. Yeah,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and and how do you know where you want guys
- 12:37Speaker 1: to be? I know a lot of times players say, oh,
- 12:39Speaker 1: they want me to be at this weight. You know,
- 12:41Speaker 1: how do you balance having enough weight and mass and
- 12:44Speaker 1: strength to do what position you're playing, but also being quick.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Now that's where I think mistakes can come. Yeah, exactly
- 12:51Speaker 1: the way Mike. Just let's just say they say, um,
- 12:53Speaker 1: you know Tae Kwon Thornton, we really think one eighty
- 12:56Speaker 1: five is the idea, wait for him, and then at
- 12:58Speaker 1: one eighty five he can't perform the way right he could? Right,
- 13:01Speaker 1: that's where it could be. Yeah, well it's about it's
- 13:03Speaker 1: about giving them food and meal plans that aren't going
- 13:06Speaker 1: to slow them down, but put on bulk and also
- 13:08Speaker 1: give them energy. Like it's not right, Oh let's fill
- 13:11Speaker 1: him up on French fries and oh no, no, no no,
- 13:13Speaker 1: you wouldn't do that, especially with the skill guys. But
- 13:16Speaker 1: what I'm saying is, what if your plan works, you
- 13:19Speaker 1: get him where you want, and that's not what comfortable there,
- 13:22Speaker 1: that wasn't best for the player, right, That's where I
- 13:24Speaker 1: would say, and and you know, like Johnny Parker is
- 13:27Speaker 1: a legendary strength and conditioning coach for US. You know,
- 13:31Speaker 1: he was under parcels and he was in the league
- 13:33Speaker 1: for years, and he swore by squats. He said that
- 13:37Speaker 1: is the best weightlifting. You know, you gotta do squats,
- 13:41Speaker 1: Gotta do squats. And I remember when Gronkowski was here late,
- 13:44Speaker 1: you know, as later in his career with the Patriots,
- 13:47Speaker 1: you know, with the back and everything, Guerrero was telling
- 13:50Speaker 1: him no more squats. Yeah, and the team was saying,
- 13:54Speaker 1: just squats, and it was there's friction there. I don't know,
- 13:58Speaker 1: and there, and I think it was even Jude On
- 14:00Speaker 1: who said that they squat more here than than Baltimore
- 14:03Speaker 1: or place right, and before he mentioned squatting is being
- 14:06Speaker 1: that's why the Ravens always have a lot of injuries.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Squat I would imagine, like squats, If you do squats
- 14:13Speaker 1: and you don't stretch well after your hand strings are
- 14:17Speaker 1: toast strong enough, like the muscles around your lower spine
- 14:21Speaker 1: really need to be ready to do those motions. Obviously,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I mean, I think these guys are but like it's
- 14:27Speaker 1: so true. I mean, I you know, going into college
- 14:30Speaker 1: when you have all of a sudden a string program
- 14:31Speaker 1: and you're I get to bring up snatch squats for
- 14:33Speaker 1: a second show in a row. It's amazing snatch squats
- 14:35Speaker 1: and and you know all the different kind of like
- 14:37Speaker 1: explosive explosion stuff. It's so new to you. And like
- 14:41Speaker 1: in hindsight, I'm like, I was so inflexible. I like,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and I couldn't do squats because my hips are so tight.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I'd get down and I'd feel like I'm falling over forward.
- 14:50Speaker 1: You know. So it's like these guys probably think of it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: You're not even ready to squat yet, you know. Like
- 14:54Speaker 1: it's that kind of plan of we need to first
- 14:56Speaker 1: get your hips opened up and get you to be
- 14:58Speaker 1: able to squat properly so you don't hurt yourself. Yeah,
- 15:00Speaker 1: you know where's I mean, I'm sure they have sleds
- 15:02Speaker 1: in there, right, Like that's a really good way to
- 15:04Speaker 1: practice deadlifting and squatting is just a weighted sled forward
- 15:08Speaker 1: and backward. It's some of the best training you can
- 15:10Speaker 1: get for all those muscles and then just really prepares you.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You're like a strength trainer or something. You've seen it
- 15:14Speaker 1: in a lot about this topic many times. She knows
- 15:17Speaker 1: a lot about everything. Yeah, I really Yeah, she's kinda
- 15:21Speaker 1: like bust out picture on her phone of like her
- 15:23Speaker 1: like bodybuilding, like one of those like definitely not bodybuilding.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But there's a really cool guy I follow that is
- 15:29Speaker 1: kind of like his knees overtows guy. Yeah, she's hug
- 15:33Speaker 1: and he like fixed my knees with that damn sled.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Really And I don't know. I love nutrition, I love
- 15:40Speaker 1: um fitness. I don't know. I'm Portuguese, Like I look
- 15:43Speaker 1: at bread and I gained ten pounds and no, being
- 15:47Speaker 1: a girl in sports media, you gotta take care of yourself.
- 15:50Speaker 1: SATs yeah, okay, not as much anymore. But I do
- 15:55Speaker 1: squats on the toilet. I thought you said shot I
- 15:59Speaker 1: was going on. I actually that was the only thing
- 16:01Speaker 1: I could do. Lifting was like I could squat with anybody,
- 16:04Speaker 1: but I couldn't bench with anybody. I do squats, and
- 16:06Speaker 1: you know the big you know, getting the three plates
- 16:09Speaker 1: on three twenty five and then you know you can't
- 16:11Speaker 1: sit down on the toilet. The next whale right underneath
- 16:14Speaker 1: your butt like those hams up strings are just destroyed.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Sit down or get up with all the pitching, with
- 16:22Speaker 1: all the pitching I did. I did a lot of
- 16:23Speaker 1: squats in all seriousness, ye, running in squats, yeah, but
- 16:26Speaker 1: I couldn't run upper body, for you can't do anything else. Yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 1: I was the the anti Andy. Right. Andy couldn't do
- 16:32Speaker 1: any squats. He had those little toothpicks for legs. That's right,
- 16:36Speaker 1: that's so much worse. No friends, Andy, but like the
- 16:39Speaker 1: day guy, and it was a definite skip Leake day guy. Yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Now he runs a lot, so it's it's okay, but
- 16:46Speaker 1: he develops them some definition. I guess some not to sidetrack,
- 16:51Speaker 1: but I will. I guess he's having some type of
- 16:53Speaker 1: feud with his neighbor. I been hearing about this. I'm excited.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I'm excited to hear about this. I want to talk
- 16:58Speaker 1: to him. His neighbor like plays music really loud or
- 17:02Speaker 1: something like that. And I said to I thought you
- 17:04Speaker 1: lived on fifteen acres. I mean, like, why don't you
- 17:06Speaker 1: have event? It was some of the surfs on his
- 17:09Speaker 1: on his property playing rock and roll. Yeah, so he's
- 17:14Speaker 1: got that going on. This guy has no idea what
- 17:16Speaker 1: he's what he stepped in, I don't know, And like
- 17:19Speaker 1: leave it to Andy to just put it out on Twitter, right,
- 17:21Speaker 1: you know. Oh yeah, he immediately goes to Twitter. Yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Imagine just being his neighbor and thinking, you're just chilling,
- 17:26Speaker 1: like enjoying your music and you don't know that like
- 17:28Speaker 1: tens of thousands of people and you're not talking about
- 17:31Speaker 1: you online. The passive aggressive neighbor is like tweeting and
- 17:34Speaker 1: put my guess. My guess is they've already had words.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, my guesses they've had words, probably from a
- 17:41Speaker 1: distance at loud volumes. And I said something snarky like,
- 17:45Speaker 1: you know, maybe you can put it a little louder,
- 17:47Speaker 1: you know, and then the guys what Yeah, you know, Well,
- 17:51Speaker 1: I watched two of my neighbors have that feud in
- 17:53Speaker 1: front of my house, probably like two or three weeks ago.
- 17:56Speaker 1: My neighbors across the street get after it. Like there's
- 17:59Speaker 1: young kids there too, like they'll just go to one
- 18:02Speaker 1: in the morning, really parties. Yeah, they get after it.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So the man behind them is like an old Ukrainian man,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and he drove his car around to ask them to
- 18:14Speaker 1: turn the music lower, and like we're screaming at each other,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and it was the whole thing. And I'm just watching
- 18:20Speaker 1: out my window, like just snacking music. Yeah, they're like
- 18:25Speaker 1: ready to fight though, like it was, people are crazy,
- 18:28Speaker 1: not surprising, not surprising. Yeah, I mean I'm like I'm
- 18:32Speaker 1: an old guy now, so like I'm like, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 1: you gotta respect other people when it comes to noise,
- 18:39Speaker 1: of course, but you also have to pick and choose
- 18:41Speaker 1: your battles. Yeah, I want to lose my mind. When
- 18:43Speaker 1: they play music till one am on a random wins
- 18:47Speaker 1: all the time. I would say something, Oh, it's it's
- 18:49Speaker 1: multiple times a week. But I'm just like, I'm not
- 18:53Speaker 1: trying to go out there and get like I live
- 18:55Speaker 1: in Springfield. I like, I'm not trying to just pick
- 18:57Speaker 1: fights with random. If it's once in a while, like
- 18:59Speaker 1: you live with that. Yeah, you know, like some they
- 19:02Speaker 1: had people over laid or whatever, but it's not something
- 19:05Speaker 1: that happens all the time. It was every night. I
- 19:07Speaker 1: would probably say something, yeah, kids running around wild too.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Kyle Kyler Murray. I was gonna say the Kyler Murray thing. Um,
- 19:14Speaker 1: it looks like he is. Uh he's close to signing
- 19:17Speaker 1: signing a deal. Um make one of the NFL's highest
- 19:21Speaker 1: paid players, according to Ian to the crap Sheet, But
- 19:24Speaker 1: do you think about that Cardinals putting their money behind him.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I think it's a tough one. It is. I think
- 19:32Speaker 1: so the personality too, that's kind of come out the
- 19:34Speaker 1: last like year or so, is kind of like giving
- 19:36Speaker 1: me a little bit of the I mean, I was
- 19:38Speaker 1: impressed with the early last season. They kind of they
- 19:40Speaker 1: kind of had a hot streak and we're playing well.
- 19:42Speaker 1: The thing that would worry me is the last two
- 19:44Speaker 1: years he seems to break down in the middle of
- 19:46Speaker 1: the you know, middle to the latter part of the year.
- 19:48Speaker 1: He can't he can't hold up over the full full season,
- 19:51Speaker 1: and that would worry me. Yeah, I think he has ability,
- 19:53Speaker 1: but that that would worry me. And from what I'm gathering,
- 19:57Speaker 1: it looks like the Shawn Watson might get off a
- 20:00Speaker 1: little easy. That seems like what's in the tea leaves
- 20:02Speaker 1: a little six to eight games. I've heard everything I've
- 20:05Speaker 1: heard he will get the whole year. I've heard it
- 20:09Speaker 1: could be as little as two games, as much as
- 20:11Speaker 1: eight games. I don't know. Well, I heard that the
- 20:14Speaker 1: league came out and said they wanted suspend him indefinitely
- 20:18Speaker 1: to get that stance out there because it's not up
- 20:20Speaker 1: to them. They have an independent arbiter and if she
- 20:24Speaker 1: comes out with a lesser penalty, they want him have
- 20:28Speaker 1: it known that well, we wanted to, but they can
- 20:31Speaker 1: change it. If she comes out with nothing, yeah, that's binding.
- 20:36Speaker 1: But if she says four games and they think it
- 20:38Speaker 1: should be eight, they can make okay, can make it eight. Okay,
- 20:41Speaker 1: that's my understanding. Anyway, I don't know. Yeah, Like that's
- 20:43Speaker 1: the way that it's been explained to me. Yeah, but
- 20:46Speaker 1: if I think it's Sue Robinson, Sue L. Robinson something
- 20:48Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, if she says, well there's nothing here
- 20:52Speaker 1: and there's no suspension, I don't think there's anything the
- 20:55Speaker 1: NFL can do about it. Wow. Uh, I don't think
- 20:58Speaker 1: that's very likely. So get something, Okay, but her her
- 21:03Speaker 1: penalty if she does, think that's not binding. That's the
- 21:06Speaker 1: way it was explained to me. Decides penalty or no penalty,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and then if it's penalty, then it's then Goodell can say,
- 21:13Speaker 1: well he needs more than that like that, Like I
- 21:15Speaker 1: saw Florio, I think wrote a couple of days ago
- 21:19Speaker 1: that they're expecting somewhere between two and eight games, which
- 21:22Speaker 1: to me was kind of a big gap. Yeah, it's
- 21:24Speaker 1: like when you know when the snowstorm, you know, two
- 21:26Speaker 1: to eight. One is snowblower when I need a broom.
- 21:30Speaker 1: The other I need a snowblower right snow or snow Joe,
- 21:33Speaker 1: which I still haven't don't. Can I ask a quick
- 21:38Speaker 1: go back to the noise thing for a second. What
- 21:40Speaker 1: is the what is the statute of limitations as a
- 21:42Speaker 1: as a homeowner on the weekend for doing yard work
- 21:46Speaker 1: with lawnmower slash tremor slash Saturday night eight Sunday nine eight. Really, yeah,
- 21:52Speaker 1: that's kind of where I go by, yes, early, Yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 1: it feels early. I'm always so conscious of and I
- 21:56Speaker 1: don't really even have close neighbors, but I just I
- 21:59Speaker 1: really hope I'm not waking anybody caution the whole time
- 22:02Speaker 1: I'm doing But that's is that something similar for you? Yeah?
- 22:05Speaker 1: And if they don't like it, then you can come
- 22:07Speaker 1: at noon and do it yourself. Yeah, you know, especially
- 22:09Speaker 1: like at this time of year when there's a difference
- 22:11Speaker 1: between eight and twelve when you're doing yard work. Oh yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 1: if you're still in bed at nine am, and it's
- 22:16Speaker 1: not because of like you work crazy. Yeah, if you
- 22:19Speaker 1: were a third shift or yeah, grow up. You can't complain.
- 22:22Speaker 1: And that's why one of my neighbors might I mean
- 22:23Speaker 1: he also has a teenage daughter who I'm like this,
- 22:25Speaker 1: that girl could be sleep until ten eleven o'clock. Well,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I don't really my kids, my kids are My kids
- 22:33Speaker 1: are in bed too, but I don't really care about
- 22:35Speaker 1: that that go right under their window. Just yeah, it's
- 22:38Speaker 1: got work to do, tough. Yeah. The only thing I
- 22:40Speaker 1: always do is when my kids are out back with
- 22:43Speaker 1: their friends and they're in the pool and they have
- 22:45Speaker 1: the music on. I don't care if it's a little loud,
- 22:48Speaker 1: but it needs to be censored reasonable. Yeah, I don't
- 22:52Speaker 1: want loud stuff. My neighbors don't need to be hearing
- 22:54Speaker 1: your stuff. Right, that's loud because that could bother people. Yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 1: you know that could be offensive to people. Yep, yep, yep. Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 1: There's always one kid. It's always making it louder, calling,
- 23:05Speaker 1: always turning it up, called his phone killing me. You
- 23:08Speaker 1: always get you know, because you can just change the
- 23:10Speaker 1: volume with you know, with the speaker. Yeah, it's called bluetooth. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 1: there's always one kid, Colin, always making a lot of it.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Was like how many times I got to come out?
- 23:18Speaker 1: You just call the cops on your kids one day,
- 23:21Speaker 1: like just but my kids like make sure it's a
- 23:24Speaker 1: joke and like just to scare them. Yeah, they're really strippers,
- 23:27Speaker 1: not on Yeah, I remember that one time I I
- 23:31Speaker 1: let my kid have the post prom party. I lay
- 23:34Speaker 1: in bed at four of them. Please make it stop,
- 23:37Speaker 1: make it stop. There'll be none of that at the prom.
- 23:41Speaker 1: You guys are such a harbinger of what I got
- 23:42Speaker 1: coming down the pipeline with with your boys and all
- 23:45Speaker 1: the worries that you guys have. And now I'm like,
- 23:47Speaker 1: oh god, I don't I don't want to deal with
- 23:48Speaker 1: all this driving to parties and everything. Oh yeah, stuff
- 23:54Speaker 1: you come home. We were running through the woods, the
- 23:56Speaker 1: rail the cops run. Oh god, please, like what my
- 24:00Speaker 1: first question, my first question every time is what would
- 24:03Speaker 1: make you think I wanted to know that? Yeah? Well
- 24:06Speaker 1: that's That's the one thing about my kid is he
- 24:08Speaker 1: tell you everything to say with will He's like the
- 24:10Speaker 1: town crier. Yeah. And I'm like sometimes, especially with your mother,
- 24:14Speaker 1: and there are things that she doesn't need to know. Yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 1: but it tells her everything. Yeah, five more years. So
- 24:20Speaker 1: he's locked up as a cardinal for six six more.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I mean what I said you know about how that's
- 24:27Speaker 1: tough that's a tough one. You gotta do it, right.
- 24:31Speaker 1: This is what the Patriots are probably going to be
- 24:33Speaker 1: facing U at this time in two years, you know,
- 24:36Speaker 1: after the twenty three season, they're going to have to
- 24:38Speaker 1: do something like this. And I think you could look
- 24:43Speaker 1: at it like Baker Mayfield and say, well, he's not
- 24:46Speaker 1: the guy we want to invest in, but what do
- 24:48Speaker 1: we have that's better? And if there's a situation like
- 24:51Speaker 1: was available for Cleveland this year, where you have a
- 24:54Speaker 1: guy that's clearly better that you can acquire, than you
- 24:56Speaker 1: do it. But otherwise I think you have to re
- 24:59Speaker 1: up these guy eyes and sort of be stuck with
- 25:01Speaker 1: someone that you like but don't love, right, Yeah, And
- 25:04Speaker 1: you could say he's he's like the tenth best quarterback
- 25:06Speaker 1: in the league. We can't pay him the tenth best salary.
- 25:09Speaker 1: We're gonna have to pay him. Eventually he will have
- 25:12Speaker 1: the tenth best in like three yeah, right, and then
- 25:15Speaker 1: it'll finally matter. Right. But that's that's Mike's point, Like
- 25:17Speaker 1: we think that Kyler Murray, you know, and Kyler Murray
- 25:20Speaker 1: is on the outskirts of that top ten on all
- 25:22Speaker 1: those I think he was like eleven or twelve, Yeah, right,
- 25:25Speaker 1: So he's not going to take the eleven to twelve
- 25:28Speaker 1: best salary. He's he's re upping now, right, So you
- 25:31Speaker 1: got to re up him the like he's one of
- 25:32Speaker 1: the top three. Yep, that's what it costs. Speaking of rankings, Mike,
- 25:36Speaker 1: I know you were up in arms about the Madden
- 25:38Speaker 1: rankings as I thought it was tease, Yeah, tease was Teas.
- 25:41Speaker 1: We're having we're having some discussion about it. I mean,
- 25:43Speaker 1: I I just think, you know, Steven said, I mean,
- 25:46Speaker 1: I think that that's kind of a general um sentiment
- 25:50Speaker 1: right now for Patriot fans, so that you know, I
- 25:52Speaker 1: think he could be one of those guys that could
- 25:54Speaker 1: have a have a breakout season. I think we talked
- 25:55Speaker 1: about a little bit, how much how many carries is
- 25:58Speaker 1: he gonna get? How much is it gonna eat into
- 25:59Speaker 1: Damian here the snaps, But um, I don't know. I
- 26:02Speaker 1: wasn't what did what did Harry Harris get eighty eighty two?
- 26:06Speaker 1: And then so Teas was like, he's at least in
- 26:07Speaker 1: eighty six. I'm like, all right, exactly, Yeah, see, I
- 26:11Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I don't know like their algorithm
- 26:15Speaker 1: or what their formula is, But I mean Stevenson has
- 26:18Speaker 1: been in the league one year, you know, yeah, one year.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And to be fair, I mean Harris has really had
- 26:23Speaker 1: one good year too. I mean last year was kind
- 26:24Speaker 1: of his breakout year and you know, had a bunch
- 26:26Speaker 1: of touchdowns. But you know, how's it all going to
- 26:29Speaker 1: come together? And is that going to be a position
- 26:31Speaker 1: of strength and you know how they how they going
- 26:33Speaker 1: to divide it up? Can James White go? You know,
- 26:35Speaker 1: does Stevenson have some potential as a third down back
- 26:37Speaker 1: with the way he catches the ball? Could that be
- 26:39Speaker 1: a little bit of a shift in the offense that
- 26:42Speaker 1: you know, instead of going with a stricker, comes James
- 26:44Speaker 1: White third down passing play. You know, like maybe you
- 26:46Speaker 1: have a little bit more flexibility with somebody like Stevenson
- 26:49Speaker 1: or or Pierre Strong for that matter. I'm a little
- 26:51Speaker 1: worried about James White. I have a developing opinion on
- 26:55Speaker 1: James White that I meant to talk about on Tuesday. Yeah, Um,
- 26:58Speaker 1: Mike Reese over the weekend. Everybody eats Mike Reese's ten
- 27:01Speaker 1: ten bullet point notes every weekend. And he had said
- 27:06Speaker 1: that he, you know, was walking with a noticeable limp.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Blah blah blah, yeah, I'm worried. Not because he's walking
- 27:13Speaker 1: with a noticeable limp. I'm worried about they're laying the
- 27:16Speaker 1: groundwork to not have him be part of the team
- 27:19Speaker 1: in in twenty twenty two. I saw James White this offseason.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I thought he was walking fine. I saw him the
- 27:24Speaker 1: same day Mike saw him doing a read at the
- 27:27Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. Did you think he was? Like? Did
- 27:30Speaker 1: you to help him? Did he need assistance? James, I
- 27:35Speaker 1: have very good nutrition and I squat, so if you
- 27:38Speaker 1: need to lean on me, you go right ahead. I
- 27:40Speaker 1: didn't notice anything, okay, so that even further um Fuels
- 27:45Speaker 1: might concern Like, I think that James White not might
- 27:49Speaker 1: not be part of the plan. I think they might
- 27:52Speaker 1: want to go younger there, which I am not opposed
- 27:55Speaker 1: to on surface. But you know, you wasted some free
- 28:00Speaker 1: agent dollars, you know, during the off season. But that's
- 28:02Speaker 1: neither hit nor there. But I just feel like I'm
- 28:05Speaker 1: a little worried about James White. Well based on that
- 28:08Speaker 1: because Mike, I'm worried about him not playing too, But
- 28:13Speaker 1: I don't think it's gonna to me. That doesn't diminish
- 28:17Speaker 1: my enthusiasm for the offense. Oh no, I'm not talking
- 28:21Speaker 1: about her. Like again, I would rather have had the
- 28:23Speaker 1: three million or whatever it was to use. Yeah, I
- 28:27Speaker 1: don't like Tie Montgomery. Yes whatever, that's I was about
- 28:30Speaker 1: to bring up his name. I think he's gonna be good. Yeah,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I mean, I just wonder, and I and I agree
- 28:35Speaker 1: with Paul just I mean, I've kind of prepared myself
- 28:37Speaker 1: that that he might not make it. I just wonder
- 28:39Speaker 1: if is it a case of he can still play
- 28:41Speaker 1: and they're just ready to turn the page, or that
- 28:43Speaker 1: he can't really but Alex saw him, thought he looked fine,
- 28:50Speaker 1: but yet this comes out right well, and Mike doesn't
- 28:54Speaker 1: just throw things out there, you know, So if the
- 28:57Speaker 1: if the undercurrent is yeah, yeah, we don't think you know,
- 29:02Speaker 1: you know, if they tell him might help him out
- 29:03Speaker 1: a little, right, you know, make it like you help
- 29:05Speaker 1: the team out. We're not turning our back on a
- 29:07Speaker 1: guy who's been such a big part of our team. Right.
- 29:09Speaker 1: And it's not because James White can't play. He just
- 29:11Speaker 1: physically hasn't bounced back from that hip problem yet. And yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I don't know. Sometimes I read too much into those things,
- 29:18Speaker 1: but that's that's probably like one of the most um uh, well,
- 29:26Speaker 1: but it's like one of those tricky injuries. It's probably
- 29:29Speaker 1: the hip. Yeah, you know, well Bo Jackson and you
- 29:33Speaker 1: get those hip pointers, and like it just seems like
- 29:36Speaker 1: guys are never the same once you this is dislocated.
- 29:40Speaker 1: This is a lot more than a hip pointer. Yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 1: and then you're compensating in other areas of your body,
- 29:45Speaker 1: like in your back. Yeah. And then that can just
- 29:48Speaker 1: set everything right. And especially for a player like him,
- 29:50Speaker 1: where you feel so much of him is in space
- 29:53Speaker 1: and quick cuts that like a dead leg cut that
- 29:55Speaker 1: he has hi strong enough for you ever wake up
- 29:59Speaker 1: in the morning you slept wrong, and your hip hurts,
- 30:01Speaker 1: and then your whole back hurts, and it just affects everything.
- 30:04Speaker 1: That psiotic nerve just goes on to squats as the
- 30:07Speaker 1: day end of day. You sleep wrong a lot. I'm
- 30:11Speaker 1: a mass Look at me. Oh, you need a new mattress.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I need to lose fifty pounds. But like, seriously, no,
- 30:18Speaker 1: I have a great matter. You have a good mattress.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Every fund of mattress. Do you have an excellent I
- 30:21Speaker 1: have an excellent mattress. Kind of mattress? Do you don't know?
- 30:23Speaker 1: You don't know? This regular one or a memory phone.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. You don't know, No, Beth, Beth,
- 30:30Speaker 1: that's everything important in my house, A sleeping Well, how
- 30:32Speaker 1: did she know it was a good mattress for you?
- 30:34Speaker 1: It was a great mattress. How did she know that?
- 30:36Speaker 1: Because I was on it before we bother? So you know?
- 30:39Speaker 1: So what kind it was? I don't remember. Why are
- 30:42Speaker 1: you being like Eric and not giving me information? This
- 30:46Speaker 1: is what Eric would do. I don't know it's a mattress.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I don't matter tell you. First of all, that's exactly
- 30:50Speaker 1: the opposite of what Eric would do. Eric would tell
- 30:53Speaker 1: you the name of the mattress, and it would absolutely
- 30:55Speaker 1: be the most expensive that you've ever heard, not only
- 30:57Speaker 1: if only if he really ever think maybe I don't
- 30:59Speaker 1: want to tell you that I spent way more money
- 31:01Speaker 1: on a mattress than should be humanly possible with that,
- 31:04Speaker 1: because it's embarrassing mattress stuff that you do, Alex. Matresses
- 31:07Speaker 1: are important, are they not? They are? But I'm saying
- 31:10Speaker 1: that as someone whose mattress came from a box at
- 31:12Speaker 1: Costco and I just pulled it out, and well, you're right,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I mean I think if no, no, I think if
- 31:18Speaker 1: you don't weigh a lot the mattress. The mattress doesn't
- 31:21Speaker 1: matter that much. It's only when you're heavy, you know.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I like a nice firm mattress. No, Boxy's like, no
- 31:28Speaker 1: kind that's really it is a very firm mattress. Is
- 31:32Speaker 1: it a temper pedic? It's a temper pedic. Hey, sweet?
- 31:35Speaker 1: What kind of bed is it that we have, Paul?
- 31:37Speaker 1: It's a temper pedic, right, probably? Yeah? Does it go
- 31:40Speaker 1: up and down? Do they have like controls on it?
- 31:41Speaker 1: And so? Oh the old person adjustable bed? No, but
- 31:46Speaker 1: he can change the TV channels with his butt cheeks
- 31:49Speaker 1: so it doesn't have to move his arms. Yeah, yespan
- 31:57Speaker 1: is on speaking of that, changing the channel or the subject.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I just told you I need to lose fifty. I
- 32:09Speaker 1: don't care. Are you gonna make fun of me? Um?
- 32:11Speaker 1: Does it annoy you when you change the channel and
- 32:14Speaker 1: then the thing comes up? You know? Next time? Just
- 32:16Speaker 1: say ESPN. Yeah, I got it a little bit. I
- 32:19Speaker 1: do like to talk, and the only time I ever
- 32:22Speaker 1: use it is if I don't know what channel something
- 32:24Speaker 1: is on. Our listeners are gonna kill us because we're
- 32:26Speaker 1: off the But I have one TV in the house.
- 32:28Speaker 1: The one in the bedroom. Like if you're watching you know,
- 32:31Speaker 1: like cable station like we or you know what, law
- 32:34Speaker 1: and orders on, the audio will be fine, and then
- 32:38Speaker 1: it'll go to a commercial and go play the commercial,
- 32:40Speaker 1: and then it gets to no, no, it gets to
- 32:42Speaker 1: the local commercial and all of a sudden, it's like
- 32:45Speaker 1: it's distorted and you have to change the channel and
- 32:48Speaker 1: go back, and when you go back, it's a completely
- 32:51Speaker 1: different commercial. So there's something weird going on where like
- 32:56Speaker 1: you're getting fed the wrong commercial and the audios off. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 1: and never noticed that. Yeah, it's funny. One TV in
- 33:04Speaker 1: the house does that. Yeah, it's the Cape station. No,
- 33:08Speaker 1: you like, you know, like an as soon as the
- 33:10Speaker 1: local commercials come on, you know, the next commercial is
- 33:13Speaker 1: going to be distorted audio wise, and then you have
- 33:16Speaker 1: to go off that channel, go back, and then when
- 33:18Speaker 1: you go back, even if it's like three seconds, it's
- 33:20Speaker 1: a different commercial. It's the weirdest thing. Temperate pillow top
- 33:24Speaker 1: there you go. See that's dream that's like a five
- 33:27Speaker 1: six thousand dollars mattresses off the top of her top
- 33:30Speaker 1: of her head. Thanks for sharing that with everybody, now,
- 33:32Speaker 1: not anybody. You can look it up. Paul you get
- 33:34Speaker 1: the Internet. No, I'm saying like, yeah that you haven't
- 33:38Speaker 1: expense that. I have to be like the Eric exactly.
- 33:41Speaker 1: This is the This is why I took umbrage at
- 33:43Speaker 1: the comparison to Eric. That's what would have told you
- 33:46Speaker 1: exactly what he paid for it. As soon as you
- 33:48Speaker 1: asked them what it was. We got the spectrum covered
- 33:50Speaker 1: mattress in a box and catillaca mattresses. Gold Player Alex.
- 33:54Speaker 1: You know she sleeps on hay stuff. I sleep anywhere
- 34:01Speaker 1: like actually no, I can't sleep on airplanes. I can't
- 34:03Speaker 1: do red eyes, but like I love to treat myself
- 34:05Speaker 1: every once in a while, sleep on the couch. It's fun. Yeah,
- 34:09Speaker 1: have a movie out there. You know the po the
- 34:12Speaker 1: saying sleep tight, and don't you know the you know
- 34:15Speaker 1: the expression sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite. Well,
- 34:19Speaker 1: you know where that came from. Back in the day
- 34:21Speaker 1: old West, like in the sixteen hundred and seventeen hundreds,
- 34:24Speaker 1: the mattress base was ropes that were tied like crisscross
- 34:29Speaker 1: and so you keep them tight. And then the stuffing
- 34:33Speaker 1: of the mattress was anything they could find from outside.
- 34:36Speaker 1: So you're bringing in so sleep tight, don't let the
- 34:39Speaker 1: bedbugs bite. Like birds. People just live by birds. You
- 34:43Speaker 1: just go around, fly around collecting sticks and newspapers and
- 34:46Speaker 1: step on them into your hey whatever they can find grass. Yeah,
- 34:50Speaker 1: and then they'd take a bath like moths, right if
- 34:53Speaker 1: that well, that's like a bath was just like you
- 34:55Speaker 1: just kind of dunk your butt in a in like
- 34:58Speaker 1: a trough bucket. Yeah, like your hair, your head doesn't
- 35:01Speaker 1: even get wet, just you're undercarage. That's why women tend.
- 35:04Speaker 1: That's why you hear about like June weddings. It's because
- 35:06Speaker 1: they're they're yearly. Bath would be in May, so they'd
- 35:09Speaker 1: get married when they still smelled. Okay, wow, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 35:15Speaker 1: I can only imagine things they're gonna smell after a
- 35:17Speaker 1: few days of camp outside with the heat and humidity
- 35:20Speaker 1: we've been having here. It's yeah, it's gonna be a
- 35:22Speaker 1: little Although the shirts look nice. We got some We
- 35:24Speaker 1: got some new uh train camp swag, new caps and
- 35:27Speaker 1: T shirts. Yeah. I like the They have two versions
- 35:30Speaker 1: this year, one traditional and then they have one with
- 35:33Speaker 1: the old logo on it. And I think that is
- 35:36Speaker 1: you know, I have to side with Eric on this one.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I think that looks better. Yeah, you're more colorful. Yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 1: you got to get one. I sent there down around yesterday. Okay,
- 35:46Speaker 1: going there. They're in my office. Didn't get to my
- 35:47Speaker 1: part of the T shirts. Get your hat and t
- 35:49Speaker 1: it's a hat and T shirt day, hat and T
- 35:51Speaker 1: shirt game. Yeah. Yeah, so they're in my office. Okay,
- 35:56Speaker 1: I'll come and see you, right, all right? Um, what else?
- 36:01Speaker 1: That's it? Should we go to the emailers? So you
- 36:03Speaker 1: you share my concern about future James. I think I
- 36:06Speaker 1: think you hit the nail on the head, especially when
- 36:09Speaker 1: I hear Alex say he looked okay. To me, that
- 36:12Speaker 1: means that they're trying to get the word out there
- 36:13Speaker 1: to soften it for him, like in May, and I
- 36:17Speaker 1: thought he was moving pretty well, Like I mean like
- 36:23Speaker 1: Terry Terry Teddy Bruski had a limp. Oh god, like
- 36:27Speaker 1: his normal gait was a limp. It just I always say,
- 36:31Speaker 1: it's like something it's just like an athlete gate. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:33Speaker 1: you know, like they kind of walked different. Devin mccordy.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Devin mccordy the day he was drafted, Devin mccordy walked
- 36:40Speaker 1: like he was eighty five years old. Yeah, the day
- 36:42Speaker 1: he was drafted he's been the fastest guy in the
- 36:45Speaker 1: field for like ten years. But but Teddy Bruce Ga mean,
- 36:48Speaker 1: like his joints aren't even connected, Like his foot would
- 36:52Speaker 1: like swing out and then he would just get bundled
- 36:55Speaker 1: up on the field and you're like, that's it. And
- 36:57Speaker 1: he'd get up and he'd come back in. How many
- 37:00Speaker 1: times did Brian Morey have him out for the year?
- 37:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Like he had rubber joints, Like he'd go
- 37:05Speaker 1: down and Brian go, yeah, he just blow out his
- 37:06Speaker 1: ACL he's done. Yeah, and then he'd be back in
- 37:09Speaker 1: two plays later. Yep, Brusk, Yeah, all right, five five
- 37:14Speaker 1: past five hundred's the a sticket Hutline Web radio at
- 37:17Speaker 1: Patriots dot com is the email address as you can
- 37:21Speaker 1: gather anything's on the table. But we're less than a
- 37:23Speaker 1: week away from the first public training camp. We'll be
- 37:26Speaker 1: live on Patriots dot com the first four days like
- 37:32Speaker 1: we usually do with camp, so this show will be live.
- 37:36Speaker 1: We won't be on our traditional time. From what I hear,
- 37:39Speaker 1: practice is going to be around nine thirty every morning.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Um usual, it's usually it's yeah, that's what they've been doing.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Creatures a habit. It seems like they go back to Yeah,
- 37:49Speaker 1: at least some when I've been here, doesn't seem like
- 37:51Speaker 1: there's many dramatic shifts in the schedule. Generally, No, they'll
- 37:54Speaker 1: COVID stuff. Most practices have been in the morning, I
- 37:57Speaker 1: think since Bill has been here. And then occasionally, for
- 38:01Speaker 1: you know, whatever reason, depending on how it fell, you
- 38:03Speaker 1: might get like a two o'clock practice once in a while,
- 38:05Speaker 1: but not often. Yeah, and it'd be an yeah, random
- 38:09Speaker 1: ones in camp when they get kind of maybe maybe
- 38:11Speaker 1: they had like three days in a row, they had
- 38:13Speaker 1: an off day or maybe a game an off day,
- 38:16Speaker 1: and then you know, so the players had a couple
- 38:19Speaker 1: of days off and maybe they're coming back, and it
- 38:21Speaker 1: was like a later practice to sort of get them
- 38:24Speaker 1: time in back in the film room, back and you know,
- 38:26Speaker 1: do all that stuff. Yeah, out wire, Well, we should
- 38:29Speaker 1: get some some I bet we get some kind of
- 38:31Speaker 1: news on James White in the next like five days
- 38:33Speaker 1: or so with with pup and all that. So we
- 38:35Speaker 1: should know soon, I would guess. And we didn't mention
- 38:37Speaker 1: the NFI's right, the two rookie offensive lineman who if
- 38:41Speaker 1: you were listening on Tuesday, Mike and I both kind
- 38:44Speaker 1: of foreshadowed that we didn't see either one. Chason Hines
- 38:47Speaker 1: Andrew Stuber didn't see either one of them. The entirety
- 38:49Speaker 1: really of the Spring. I have been told that Stuber,
- 38:53Speaker 1: I wouldn't expect him at all. Um don't know much
- 38:58Speaker 1: more about Hines than but we've seen. But they're both
- 39:00Speaker 1: going to start camp on NFI. It's kind of disappointing.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I mean, I know you don't put a lot of
- 39:04Speaker 1: stock into a low round offensive lineman, but I think
- 39:07Speaker 1: when when you know, look at Michael and when you
- 39:09Speaker 1: guys like that, and it feels like there's opportunities at tackle.
- 39:13Speaker 1: I mean the Stupor came in, I mean, I don't
- 39:15Speaker 1: think we're going to see him this year, but I
- 39:17Speaker 1: don't see why he couldn't compete with Justin Horan or
- 39:20Speaker 1: you know, Yadi Kadjust. The guys that we saw as
- 39:21Speaker 1: the backups are even Hines, we saw, like I said,
- 39:24Speaker 1: on when you come in, I mean Will Sherman, the backup,
- 39:26Speaker 1: Drew dejarlais, those guys. I mean, it just seems like
- 39:29Speaker 1: there's opportunity there. Those guys could have gotten on the
- 39:30Speaker 1: on the field. I know Aaron in Chicago writes and
- 39:35Speaker 1: he's got a two part question regarding the throwback uniforms
- 39:38Speaker 1: making the comeback one with the Giants unveiling their secondary
- 39:42Speaker 1: helmet and retro inspired end zone. This made me curious
- 39:45Speaker 1: to know if you could shed any insight on if
- 39:48Speaker 1: the Patriots will do anything special as well when they
- 39:51Speaker 1: bring back the classic pad Patriot to the Gridiron, whether
- 39:54Speaker 1: it's aesthetics or activations. I think they are going to
- 39:58Speaker 1: probably treat it a a throwback game and paint the
- 40:02Speaker 1: end zones appropriately. Yeah. Did you think you can do
- 40:04Speaker 1: that old logo? You know which one I'm talking about
- 40:07Speaker 1: the Patriots, the old that old like eighties one. Do
- 40:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about? That one? That would
- 40:11Speaker 1: be cool? Fonte script, Oh not the you're talking about
- 40:16Speaker 1: the blocks of the stars. Oh yeah, that's so ugly,
- 40:19Speaker 1: so terrible. I don't know why people get nostalgic about
- 40:24Speaker 1: that stuff. Such an angry man. You know what's funny
- 40:27Speaker 1: about that is I don't like the Giants eighties uniforms.
- 40:31Speaker 1: I like the traditional uniforms with the n y on
- 40:34Speaker 1: as opposed to the Giants on. I think they have
- 40:37Speaker 1: a great uniform And then you know in the eighties
- 40:40Speaker 1: they sort of switched. Now they had great success with
- 40:43Speaker 1: that with LT and all that, and I don't. I
- 40:45Speaker 1: don't like that as much. But they were going like
- 40:47Speaker 1: people were going gaga about that yesterday. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 40:51Speaker 1: put Dallas that. I don't like those ends. I don't
- 40:53Speaker 1: like them. You know what's my problem with the end.
- 40:55Speaker 1: A lot of people are like you, They're a lowercase end.
- 40:57Speaker 1: It just bugs me. It's a lowercase end on the helmet.
- 40:59Speaker 1: That sounds stupid, I guess, but like that, it just
- 41:02Speaker 1: bugs me. I don't know. The old giants onces just
- 41:04Speaker 1: harken back to LT and those, and the Dallas introduced
- 41:08Speaker 1: their throwback helmet too. It's great. I mean, I you know,
- 41:12Speaker 1: you can take them or leave some of them, but
- 41:14Speaker 1: I just think the more the better, the more than
- 41:17Speaker 1: what I have, like some of these black helmets. You
- 41:19Speaker 1: see the Panthers black helmet helmet that looked pretty sharp.
- 41:22Speaker 1: That's why it's like, for so long with this helmet rule,
- 41:24Speaker 1: it was like, what is the NFL doing? Like this
- 41:27Speaker 1: is such an opportunity for so many different things, not
- 41:29Speaker 1: you know, not the least of which is making money
- 41:31Speaker 1: off of selling stuff in the pro shop and jerseys
- 41:33Speaker 1: and stuff. I mean they shouldn't have been worried about
- 41:35Speaker 1: hit injuries. We can't get a second helmet, Like, you
- 41:41Speaker 1: don't want a second helmet? Like what what is this? Like?
- 41:43Speaker 1: Why is it broken in helmet going to protect you
- 41:46Speaker 1: from a concussion? I don't know, only one, Like, you
- 41:48Speaker 1: can't just get a second helmet. That's well, they're they're
- 41:51Speaker 1: custom fitted. Each helmet is custom fitted, so they want
- 41:53Speaker 1: to make sure that guys are using the helmet that
- 41:56Speaker 1: was approved for them. About money, Yeah, thats money to
- 42:00Speaker 1: have extra helmets. Well, yeah, Ryan writes in He's a
- 42:06Speaker 1: Cowboys fan, he says, and my girlfriend is a Patriots fan.
- 42:10Speaker 1: And then things pop up on my screen and I
- 42:11Speaker 1: can't read the freaking Oh my god, So hold on,
- 42:14Speaker 1: I gotta go back Grandpa's the computer. Just things pop
- 42:20Speaker 1: up and then I hit it and it goes to
- 42:21Speaker 1: another mailbox. Anyway, so his girlfriend's a Patriots fan. We
- 42:25Speaker 1: listened to the podcast every week. I have to put
- 42:29Speaker 1: my input in on the conversation you guys were having
- 42:32Speaker 1: with Drew Brees. I believe Paul mentioned that always always overlooked.
- 42:36Speaker 1: I said that too. He may be, but I feel
- 42:39Speaker 1: that Aikman is the one that is always overlooked. I
- 42:42Speaker 1: put Aikman over Young. I believe Aikman is the second
- 42:45Speaker 1: best quarterback in the nineties behind Farv though Aikman had
- 42:50Speaker 1: the championships. I would put Aichman over Young. Absolutely, I
- 42:55Speaker 1: would too. Now I would put Aichman more in a
- 42:57Speaker 1: Drew Brees category because of Emmett Smith and well, first
- 43:01Speaker 1: of all, do you believe that Aikman doesn't get enough credit?
- 43:04Speaker 1: Is he overlooked? M I agree on in the print. Now,
- 43:08Speaker 1: he's a Hall of Famer, so he wasn't that overlooked.
- 43:11Speaker 1: But I agree with his premise. I would say that
- 43:13Speaker 1: if people started telling you the best players, I don't
- 43:15Speaker 1: think he would. I don't think he would come up
- 43:17Speaker 1: if you talked about five in Montana and you know
- 43:20Speaker 1: that that kind of general era. I don't think a
- 43:23Speaker 1: lot of people would put Aikman first. I need to
- 43:25Speaker 1: do an Aikman deep dive. But I mean, did he
- 43:28Speaker 1: team He kind of had his best offense with his guys.
- 43:31Speaker 1: He never really did it with anybody else. He was
- 43:33Speaker 1: on the best team. He was the quarterback of the
- 43:35Speaker 1: best team. Like I don't think of right as being
- 43:38Speaker 1: like Brett five. Think he's right. I think Brett Farve,
- 43:40Speaker 1: for all his flaws, had to do far more. Yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 1: Green Band did it with different, different groups, different teams,
- 43:47Speaker 1: even Yeah Rodrigo in Brazil, right, sin he said. On
- 43:52Speaker 1: Tuesday show, Paul talked about Peyton Manning's lack of playoff
- 43:55Speaker 1: success being partly a product of bad luck. So I
- 43:58Speaker 1: went back to look at some of his playoff losses
- 44:00Speaker 1: and what I found. Why do I ever talk about
- 44:03Speaker 1: anybody who doesn't play for him? What I found was
- 44:05Speaker 1: a guy to learn. What I found was a guy
- 44:07Speaker 1: whose teams averaged fifteen point two points per postseason loss,
- 44:12Speaker 1: and only twice in his career did he score more
- 44:14Speaker 1: than eighteen points in a playoff game and lose. Actually,
- 44:17Speaker 1: if you take away that Baltimore game, which Paul correctly
- 44:20Speaker 1: points out required an extreme amount of bad luck for
- 44:23Speaker 1: the Broncos to drop, his offenses average an astounding thirteen
- 44:27Speaker 1: point five points per game in twelve playoff losses. For
- 44:31Speaker 1: all of his luck, Brady's teams averaged nineteen point three
- 44:35Speaker 1: points per game in his playoff losses, and he tops
- 44:38Speaker 1: Peyton and points scored per playoff win as well, thirty
- 44:41Speaker 1: point one verse twenty eight point six. I know he
- 44:44Speaker 1: is better than manname. I know you never claimed Peyton
- 44:46Speaker 1: was Brady's equal in the playoffs and just had bad luck.
- 44:50Speaker 1: But looking back, I found it remarkable just how poorly
- 44:53Speaker 1: Peyton performed when his teams fell short in the postseason.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Not a whole lot of close fought wins where he
- 44:59Speaker 1: went dry for drive and his defense let him down. Yeah,
- 45:02Speaker 1: more than you think Brady is better than Manning, which
- 45:05Speaker 1: is what I I applaud your research. Thank you. I
- 45:09Speaker 1: know Paul is poop pooing it. I'm not poopooing it.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I think Manning has had too many one and duns
- 45:14Speaker 1: in the playoffs. I said that I would not take him,
- 45:17Speaker 1: you know, up over Brady in the clutch. Ever, despite
- 45:20Speaker 1: the fact that he's beaten Brady more than not in
- 45:23Speaker 1: the playoffs. Ever, right, sixty percent of the time Manning
- 45:26Speaker 1: beats Brady in the playoffs. Well, they were extenuating circumstances, right,
- 45:30Speaker 1: the lesser team one no led by Manning. Uh. I
- 45:34Speaker 1: think heating up the dome and giving them flu the flu,
- 45:39Speaker 1: That's that's the whole story. Seating the whole story had
- 45:42Speaker 1: the flu. Uh. Let's see Tyl Tyler a lot of
- 45:46Speaker 1: people commenting on company covid uh, he says. On Tuesday show,
- 45:51Speaker 1: the subject of personal embarrassing sports moments were brought up,
- 45:55Speaker 1: so I thought I'd chime in while things are still
- 45:57Speaker 1: a little slow to share one of my own. Few
- 46:00Speaker 1: years back, I was attending a Sunday afternoon minor league
- 46:03Speaker 1: baseball game. The opposing team was batting and two pitchers.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Two pitches had been thrown for this particular at bat.
- 46:10Speaker 1: I thought both pitches had been called strikes, so when
- 46:12Speaker 1: the third pitch was thrown and the batter swung through it,
- 46:16Speaker 1: I immediately jumped to my feet, fist pumped, and screamed
- 46:18Speaker 1: sit down. When he did not immediately turn back to
- 46:22Speaker 1: his dugout, I realized the first pitch was actually called
- 46:24Speaker 1: a ball and was currently a one in two count.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Everyone around me, including my wife, had a good laugh
- 46:30Speaker 1: at my expense. The batter did end up striking out
- 46:33Speaker 1: a few pitches later, but I felt it best to
- 46:36Speaker 1: just stay seated with my mouth shut. That if that's
- 46:38Speaker 1: your most embarrassing sports moment, you're doing good. Yeah, because
- 46:42Speaker 1: I've had some. We talked about it. That's that's where
- 46:45Speaker 1: the clip at the beginning of the show with Alex. Yeah,
- 46:47Speaker 1: I like how it was eating pop over the hurdle. Yeah,
- 46:51Speaker 1: and it sounded like I'd really just guess eating poop
- 46:54Speaker 1: that I ate poop one time. He's kind of like,
- 46:58Speaker 1: friend's down on the quarterback, right these things. Yeah. Yeah.
- 47:02Speaker 1: My most embarrassing, you know, regretful sports moment was striking
- 47:08Speaker 1: out looking in a Babe Ruth All Star game with
- 47:10Speaker 1: men on base last inning, trying to make a comebackck,
- 47:13Speaker 1: get it off your shoulders, you know. Yeah, I think
- 47:18Speaker 1: my humble brag thoe he had to say it was
- 47:20Speaker 1: in it and all start, Oh, yeah, I'm just giving
- 47:23Speaker 1: being accurate, that's all. I don't think pictures exist of
- 47:25Speaker 1: me and my way too tight Michael Chang nineties inspired
- 47:29Speaker 1: tennis outfit, but if they did, that would be my
- 47:32Speaker 1: most embarrassing moment of me. And like short shorts with
- 47:34Speaker 1: like a just just the aesthetics chubby now you are,
- 47:37Speaker 1: but at the time that was the thing. But but
- 47:40Speaker 1: it doesn't fit a fourteen year old who's kind of
- 47:42Speaker 1: doughey at like skinny legs and time like it just
- 47:46Speaker 1: I can only skip like day I was a kid. Yeah,
- 47:49Speaker 1: for sure, it's bad, but you know, I thought it
- 47:52Speaker 1: was Michael Chang. I had the rebeat, all the big
- 47:54Speaker 1: like the rebut you know, my dad got me like
- 47:56Speaker 1: the full short. It was the full outfit, you know,
- 47:58Speaker 1: like Michael Chang going out, the woman, the pumps, you know,
- 48:00Speaker 1: the whole thing. But I sucked, and I like terrible
- 48:04Speaker 1: at tennis. It was at Cape Cod Community College that
- 48:06Speaker 1: like their tennis tournament getting smoked. Zip Zip. I got
- 48:11Speaker 1: a lot of them, I know, too many. Yeah, I
- 48:15Speaker 1: feel like you're in the Hall of Fame. That's the
- 48:17Speaker 1: amazing thing, right, I didn't have Well, and you have
- 48:20Speaker 1: a bubblehead made of yourself. No, it's not a bubblehead,
- 48:23Speaker 1: just you can't buy them. It's custom, just a custom
- 48:25Speaker 1: figurine figuring. Actually figured I figured that was that's like
- 48:32Speaker 1: the greatest gift. What the guy who made them the
- 48:36Speaker 1: porcelain parlough. It's not really port it's a figurine. But
- 48:39Speaker 1: you guys both have baseball. I feel like baseball is
- 48:41Speaker 1: an easier sport to have individual embarrassment than others. I've
- 48:44Speaker 1: always said sports baseball is a team sport made up
- 48:47Speaker 1: of individual plays. Yeah, you know, yeah, so you're up
- 48:51Speaker 1: bat everything's on you the ball pitcher. It's so we
- 48:56Speaker 1: play Kelly Field in Hyde Park. Right, you play, and
- 48:59Speaker 1: the diamond is like situated in the in the far corner,
- 49:02Speaker 1: and then way out in right field is a football
- 49:04Speaker 1: field that runs from like the right field line away
- 49:08Speaker 1: from the baseball diamond, and then there's stands for the
- 49:13Speaker 1: football way out in right center. This is like a
- 49:15Speaker 1: country mile away. So I get up a home run
- 49:18Speaker 1: to a guy from Hyde Park Sports named BJ Flynn.
- 49:20Speaker 1: He hit it nine thousand miles like, it went over
- 49:23Speaker 1: the football bleachers, right. It was just a titanic home run.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I didn't give up a lot of cheepies. It was.
- 49:29Speaker 1: It was a titanic home run. So we're walking in
- 49:32Speaker 1: like I want to say, a week later, right, and
- 49:36Speaker 1: there's like four of us walking down, you know, getting
- 49:38Speaker 1: ready for the game. And the umpire guy named Joe
- 49:42Speaker 1: Kellerher is walking. He's talking to the other umpire and
- 49:45Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, I heard b J Flynn. He went
- 49:48Speaker 1: over those football stands like a couple of weeks ago.
- 49:50Speaker 1: And I go, it's true, Joe, And he turns around
- 49:53Speaker 1: he goes when I go, I was off of me.
- 49:56Speaker 1: It was like really humiliating yeah. It was like to
- 50:00Speaker 1: listen to two random guys talking about I heard Babe
- 50:04Speaker 1: Ruth hit went into a telecopter, right, yeah he did.
- 50:07Speaker 1: It was off me taking ownership. Oh yeah, I just
- 50:12Speaker 1: kept walking right, went hang your head and shape. So
- 50:15Speaker 1: the same the same night my brother goes to the game.
- 50:18Speaker 1: My brother didn't go to all the games. My father
- 50:20Speaker 1: and grandfather went to every game. But I was sitting.
- 50:23Speaker 1: I was tying my cleats, and I hear my brother
- 50:26Speaker 1: look at my father to go he ate it over
- 50:28Speaker 1: those It's like a rumps like shut, that's funny. I
- 50:36Speaker 1: could probably think of others for me, but I don't
- 50:38Speaker 1: want to. Rusty and Arland really looking forward to all
- 50:42Speaker 1: the training camp stories about how Mac went twenty one
- 50:44Speaker 1: for twenty six today, but would like to bring up
- 50:47Speaker 1: something else before dot com. I'm pretty young and understand
- 50:52Speaker 1: the last twenty years, but I would like to learn
- 50:54Speaker 1: more about those teams in the seventies that were pretty good.
- 50:57Speaker 1: I hear you talk about Chuck Fairbanks positive a lot,
- 51:01Speaker 1: but he isn't in the hall and I never hear
- 51:03Speaker 1: about him outside the podcast. How good were guys like
- 51:06Speaker 1: Russ Francis, Leon Gray, and Grogan it's tough to look
- 51:09Speaker 1: at a stat sheet and get a sense of how
- 51:11Speaker 1: it was in a completely different era. Looking through Wikipedia.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Was Fairbank's biggest problem the Sullivan's being cheap. Yes, what
- 51:18Speaker 1: happened with Jim Plunkett. Yeah, he traded them, revamped the
- 51:22Speaker 1: whole team. That's how we built what should have been
- 51:25Speaker 1: a championship team. Yeah, that wasn't a bad trade. It
- 51:27Speaker 1: was an unbelievable trade from Patriots. Yeah, but you can
- 51:30Speaker 1: look at the staff book in seventy eight with what
- 51:31Speaker 1: their ground game did. And you know, Beon Gray is
- 51:35Speaker 1: an all time player, Russ Francis is an all time player.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Steve Grogan is an all time Patriot. Yeah, but Russ
- 51:42Speaker 1: Francis could have played, He could have played now, and yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 1: he would be a modern era tight end. He could block,
- 51:48Speaker 1: he could run down the seam. I think he averaged
- 51:51Speaker 1: over sixteen yards to catch one year, like just Howard
- 51:53Speaker 1: could self famously called him all world. Yeah, that's my
- 51:56Speaker 1: all world tight end. They had great, great personnel, great
- 52:00Speaker 1: teams um with if the Crafts were owners then day
- 52:04Speaker 1: to one at least two titles in the seventies. Yeah, yeah,
- 52:07Speaker 1: and you know, good drafts that's it. Yeah, that's the key.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Mike Mike Haynes, Ray claybo and Stanley Morgan, Tim Fox,
- 52:14Speaker 1: John Hannah, uh John Hannah. These are all like Chuck
- 52:18Speaker 1: Fairbanks draft picks. Like there's no Lawrence Morone's, you know,
- 52:23Speaker 1: no Dominique Easley's. Yeah. I mean there's certainly, you know,
- 52:26Speaker 1: randomly you hit a great player in a random round.
- 52:29Speaker 1: But like it's not that hard. You know. You look
- 52:31Speaker 1: back at the teams that were good, and a lot
- 52:34Speaker 1: of their core were guys that they drafted, and that's
- 52:36Speaker 1: you know true. I think through just about every team,
- 52:38Speaker 1: there's outlier teams every year that they just kind of click.
- 52:42Speaker 1: But I think the teams that are consistently good, you
- 52:43Speaker 1: look and you look at those draft classes and you say, wow,
- 52:46Speaker 1: they got six starters out of that out of that draft,
- 52:49Speaker 1: you know, one was the last time that the Patriots
- 52:51Speaker 1: got that kind of you know, that's what they need now.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Many of those Steve Grogan, Okay, of all those people,
- 52:58Speaker 1: Steve Grogan, no, I've I've heard of most of the names,
- 53:00Speaker 1: but like if you show me a picture of them,
- 53:02Speaker 1: I would not Oh, I wouldn't necessarily know what all
- 53:05Speaker 1: of them look like or anything like that. All right,
- 53:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a quick break. Food is here, of
- 53:09Speaker 1: which I can't eat any because I'm on a diet.
- 53:11Speaker 1: But after that will go straight through with more of
- 53:13Speaker 1: your calls and emails. Here and Patriots Unfiltered want to

- 1:05:23Speaker 1: on the field today either. Yeah, he is killed. He's
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: not playing left tackle. No, I know, but what's the difference.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: We're talking about left tackle? But again my problem we're
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: worried and I don't have a left tackle. But if
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: but if you can't play, you don't have a left tackle.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: My problem isn't with his health. My problem is I
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: don't know if he can play. Joe Tuny just want Hey,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: what is Joe Tuny? You said if you can't play,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: you don't have a left tackle. Okay, oral left guard.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: You have to put your left guard and left tackle.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Now you don't have a xact guy. You are switching
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: to positions. You can always find a guard, Paul, you
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: know that you can always find a tackle too. Ah,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: So then where do we have to worry about? It's
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: just me twenty years, but you finally came around in
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: my style of football. Thank you. You got a cornerback.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: You got a couple of guys from the throat in
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: a decent cornerback on defense. Maybe the ability to put
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: some pressure in the batch. I'm in, baby, That's all
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: I need, all right back here in Patriots Unfiltered at
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: eight five five Pats five hundred at hut Line Web
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Radio at PAS. One of the rare great moments in
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Patriots history. But I actually wasn't embarrassed to listen to
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: myself afterwards. I stand by everything I just said. Couldn't
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: couldn't play well, Rest in peace, but couldn't couldn't play
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: anymore at that point, right, No. But my point was
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: like we were worried about one guy not being on
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: the field, but not another guy, and because it was
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: a tackle. And then it's like Joe Tuney was like, oh, okay,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: now you need a guard too, and he's like, well,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you can always find a guard. Yeah, we can draft
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: him in the first round. It was great. That was
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: a great one. That's dead too. Now for those of
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: us who appreciate all the positions of football, Yeah, the
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: final I really appreciate this two leader bottle of diet
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: pepsi that matisca, which is half gone already. Craft just
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: sucked it down. Yeah, it's got a hollow leg over there.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: There's a lot in here. It's a lot in here too,
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: and I'm pointing to the stomach. I miss Eric. I
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: miss Andy because he would have been all of that.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: I miss Eric because he would be the target. Now
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: I'm the target all the sometimes. I know I'll get
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: to Alex. I'll get to Alex. Yeahs just have to
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: learn more of my my weird quarter. We're getting him.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: I think we're starting to learn at the time. You
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: ate poop um. Let's go to the stick a hot line.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Eddie's in Florida. What's up Eddie? Hey guys, what's going on? Hey? Hey?
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I rarely get to listen to you guys lives, so
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I'm psyched they get to do it today and love
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: your show. I got a trivia question for you, um
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: and it's funny because you guys were talking about the
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: seventies pat And my trivia question is the seventy eight
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: better record for rushing yards three thousand, one hundred and
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: sixty five yards. Can you name the five linemen on
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: that team. Oh, that's a good one. I'm gonna give
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: it a shot, Leon, Greg, Pete Brock that year, Brock
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: slash Bill Anchitis. Yep, Sam Adams and Shelby Jordan. Excellent,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: great job, Paul. Wow, See he likes lineman. He's just kidding.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: He likes line. I liked me the seventies Patriots. That's
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: when I was a kids. That's right to see it
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: was Bill Anchitis. I thought it was Pete Rock. Yeah,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: well they split. Lenkitis played the first and third quarters
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: and Brock played the second and fourth. That's true, that's
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: what they did. Yeah, rope that record in two thy
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: nineteen the Ravens. Yeah, the Ravens. And when you guys
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: were talking about on your last podcast, the three guys
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: you'd like to have dinner with easily, Bobby Jor's number one. Okay,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: but you still can't bet Bill Russell. I would love
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: to have dinner with Bill Russell. Can't even imagine this
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: story reason and m guy, but I love some But
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: what about Dom Demagi? Imagine getting stories from about Ted
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Williams and his brother Joe. That would be pretty cool. Yeah,
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: maybe I didn't. Yeah, when you first said Dom Domagio,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: I kind you know, Fred was like he was ripping you,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: but you brought it home Eddie. Yeah, there's a reason,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I guess. Yeah, he'd have some insight. Yeah right, yeah,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: well even if Joe Namath, you know, like the the
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: escapades that he had. Yeah, yeah, right, I want anybody
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: to play for the kenab Right. There was some crazy,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: but it's really like what kind of dinner do I want? What? What?
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: What do I want to be doing the dinner? Do
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I really want to be just asking questions and listening?
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Or do I want back and forth? Do I want
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: a guy who enjoys eating? You know? Like what what
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: kind of dinner guy, I really want I want stories. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: for me, it's all about the storytelling. I would love
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: to hear about the Big bad Ruins. I would love
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: to hear about Bill Russell's trials and tribulations. Yeah. Bill
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Russell is like a living legend. Like it's just I
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: can't even it sounds like stupid to say, but like
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: when he did all what he did in you know,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: fifty sixties, but like even when as a kid being like, wait,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: this guy's still alive, like even then and now it's
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: just I mean, it's like you said, he's he's a legend. Yeah,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: all right, thanks Edie, appreciate the call. Let's go to
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: William and Phillham. What's up William? What's going on for it?
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: How you sel good? All right? Um, just have two
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: questions for football and one question football and not a
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: question for Alicum. I'll just start with the pall first
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: because it's still obvious involved with if you're having so much,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: you know, uncutanty about the team, and I can understand,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: why is there anything that you are positive about? No,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I would say the running game I'm positive on, believe
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: it or not. You guys probably won't believe this, But
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: I'm pretty positive on Mac Jones. I think he'll be fine.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Um the depth at safety, pretty pretty positive on that, yep, okay, okay, okay,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: and so Alex um not nothing. What do you think
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: of Black Honthort? What do I think of who? Type one?
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: What do you think? Yeah? What would you? How would
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: I say? Um? How do you think? You? You think
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: he'll be okay? You think as far as a wide received,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: you know, with all the past receivers that we ever
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: had and they didn't really tend out too well. I know.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: So what do you think about Black Honthort? I think
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: that he's coming into crowded space, but um interested to
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: see if the speed can kind of hold up with
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: like getting hits and um, I don't know. It's it's
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: kind of hard to tell at this point, but I
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: guess I'm hopeful, but I don't really necessarily think we'll
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: see a ton of him this year. Well let's let's
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: put it this way. He's gonna get his opportunity, you know,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: whether it's in camp or preseason, We're gonna see a
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: lot of Taekwon Thornton, and I think enough to make
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: at least an early judgment on the guy, you know,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: because right now, Alex, you're right. I mean, we know
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: he's fast, you know, but he came from a smaller school,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: so we don't know really how he's gonna hold up
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: in the NFL. But we're gonna see him for sure preseason,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: you know, and we'll be able to make a judgment, Yeah,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: at least an early judging forward to seeing how he
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: like because I mean, training camp, you're not seeing them
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: really get defended, no, So I just want to see
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: how he holds up getting kind of tough coverage and
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: if you can create but you know, don't you know,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: forget about the seven on sevens and all that stuff,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: because it's almost impossible to cover a guy in those
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: you know, but when they go to eleven on eleven
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: and they go to the you know, uh, situational drills,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: is he getting open and when they throw it to him,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: does he catch it? And if he can do those
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: two things at least in camp in preseason, he's got it,
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: you know. Okay, put him way ahead of where we
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: saw Harry, right right exactly. I think that's the big thing.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Where does he get the opportunities and can he stay
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: on the field, and like you said, I just catch
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: the ball on his throne too. It's it's it sounds
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: too simple, but I think it is that so much
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: of this stuff is Mike just said something I think
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: people would probably just gloss over. So much of this
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: stuff for those young guys is the ability to be
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: on the field every day. Yep. So many of these
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: guys get derails because they're in one day and out
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: the next two. Yep. It's very frustrating. Do you, um,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: let me ask you this. Do you think he can
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: beat out? Uh? You see Jack Cholie, Marto Nels and
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: I even though they know the playbook, aren't baby, but
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Twyhan doesn't know. But I think the band he had
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: over him is basically his speed. So I mean, I mean,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: do you think of that? Well, that go back to
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: what Alex start. It's a crowded room and a lot
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: of guys with experience, so it's gonna be tough for him.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: I mean, I think i'd rout to Agile and I
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: don't think I don't know if he has and if
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: he's going to have what it takes to knock Agile
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: or off. I mean, I just think at this point
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: you need everything you can get to see what actually strikes.
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: But I think in a perfect world, he's opposite Parker
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: as your speed option. You know, you've got a contested
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: guy in Parker on the outside on one side, and
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: you've got a speed option on the other side that
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: you know that will help stretch the field that way.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: I just I wonder if maybe we're sleeping on him
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: a little bit. I mean, is there is there a
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: chance that he comes in and and really turns some
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: heads over under in games that he appears in, not starts,
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: but appears in ten here appears in and not a
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: special team. I'll take, oh, not a special team as
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: a wide receiver. I'm gonna say over Okay, yeah, but
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I don't I'm kind of with deuces sentiment that I
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: don't know, I'm not expecting much of him, but I
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: do think you'll be active, and as long as he's active,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: they'll get him on the field. Okay. I just can't
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: help but feel like there's a certain part of myself
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: that say, is this guy's a second round pick. He's
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: really fast. He should be part of the future. Like
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: I mean, when they selected him, they should have been
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: thinking like this is a guy that we want to
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: play for our team soon. Um, we look at the
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: depth and you say, well, he's probably gonna have a
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: little bit of an uphill fight. But at the same time,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I'm a little bit upset with myself of not really
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: giving him a chance. I don't feel like I'm giving
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: him a chance. In my head, I just feel like
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: he's going to be in the background. And why don't
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: you believe in him? I do, but you know, But
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: but I think it's a point that we've kind of, like,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: you know, talked about a little bit of you know,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: the guy's a second round receiver, like I mean, and
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: and and in a lot of different drafts in the past,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: they would have taken a second round guy and we
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: would have expectations for them to come in and play.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I think you should have expectations for him. But I
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: think what happens is people look at those guys. They
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: look at Chad Jackson, they look at Aaron Dobson, they
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: look at him, and that's Michael Harry, and they are expectations, right,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: we really expect him, right, And that and that's maybe
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: and maybe that's reason to put him in the category
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: of maybe maybe he pops a little bit more than
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: than we're kind of expecting. Other than I think, as
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: Alex laid out, you know, limited in his opportunities, has
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: to make the most of it. You know, maybe his
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: speed just pops from day one and they say, man,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: we just can't keep this guy off the field. He
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: changes our offense. He gives the defense some to think about.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: He needs to be out there. I think he'll have
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: every opportunity to play, by the way, like I think
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: if he could play, he'll be out there. Like I
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: don't think it's well, they're just too loaded at receiver.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: He won't have any opportunities. If he's good, I think
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: he'll play. Matt and Ohio writes, and going back to
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: the show from Thursday last week and talking about Thornton,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: we all agree that if he plays a lot this year,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: will because most likely our wide receivers got hurt. In
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: my opinion, he is not the answer, but I hope
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I'm wrong. Do you think the Patriots like him that
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: much that if we needed a big time college wide
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: receiver because we had no one else, he would play?
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Let me reach. Do you think the Patriots like him
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: that much that if we needed a big time college
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: wide receiver because we had no one else he would
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: play Week one like Chason DeVante Smith did. Also, I'm
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: a South Carolina fan and watched Debo play for years.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I always thought he was a great player, but no way,
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I thought he would be one of the best playmakers
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: in the league. Looking back on the draft now, it's
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: easy for fans to be mad at Bill for not
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: taking Debo or A J. Brown, But we're all those
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: wide receivers we passed on that great in college. I mean,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: I love Debo coming out, and I thought he was
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: a great fit. The same thing with A J. Brown.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: I thought both those guys, you know, check the boxes
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: of what they like. Physical guys, tough, really competitive, you
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: know those those are the things that stuck out to
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: me with those guys, So I thought they fit. Did
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: I think either one of them were guaranteed to be
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: a superstar or not? Really? But I think you also
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: have to give some credit to where they went and
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: the you know, the offensive coordinators that you know Kyle
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Shanahan that knew how to use Debo in a variety
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: of ways that you know, not every team would have
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: been able to maximize his success and the same thing
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: for j Brown. I mean, he's playing off of you know,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: one of the most prolific run games in in you know,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: in recent memory, with Derrick Henry and when he was effective,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: and that you know, helped things too. So I don't know,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: I think both those guys are were good fits. I
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: think they would have been great here. I don't know
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: what what level, but I think they'd be better than
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: most of what they have right now. You know, over
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: the years, Bill has said, you know, it's kind of
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: hard to project guys out of college at that position,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: But is it getting easier, you know, because of the
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: change should be Yeah, it seems like it is for
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: everybody else. Yeah, right, I mean it seems every year
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: there's you know, five, six, seven guys that make an
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: immediate impact at that position. And it's almost like the
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: style of the NFL makes the guy better, you know, right.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: I mean it's it's it's getting more and more similar
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: to to the spread offenses and you know, just here
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: passing downs and you know, I think even even the stuff,
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: even the RP stuff, it just helps guys, you know,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: get into things a little bit easier. And I think
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: it's also reflective on the Patriots offense and you know
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: the how hard it is to pick up and all
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: that stuff. You know what's going on. Where's the disconnect there?
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Why is it so hard? I understand that maybe they
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: have problems picking the right guys, but they can at
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: least try to make it easier on them when they
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: get here. That's what I'm hopeful with this offensive adjustment,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: whatever it may be, that that you know that someone
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: like Thornton can come in now and grasp these simpler
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: concepts and immediately look like he's know what he's doing
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: instead of somebody who seems like they're still on the
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: other field with the backups who you know, the learning
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: I feel like that's the learning field down there. That's
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: not the guys who are in the mix to compete
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: to actually play. Did you guys catch the Jeremy Fowler
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: comments on Taekwon Thornton No so on ESPN. I think
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: it was last Friday. I saw this. He was, you know,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: they do the quick hitstering like the sports centers and stuff,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: and he was talking about potential early impact wide receivers
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: and in the middle of it he brought up Thornton
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: and he said, you know a lot of people were
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: surprised the Pagrits took him in the second round, but
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: you talk to people around the league and they weren't
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: as surprised. He really interviewed well, really well, and I
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: was like, you know, and then, and the Patriots have
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: really been impressed with him, um, you know, in the
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: film rooms and this, and all I could think about
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: was Chad Jackson, Like this is the stuff that they
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: like proactively told us how good Chad Jackson was at
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: this stuff. And I know, maybe I've just been beaten,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: beaten down by some of these missed picks, but it
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: was like an enormous red flight who cares. Yeah, Like,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: I mean, I guess if you don't interview well and
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: you're stupid in the film room, you know, that can
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: hurt you. But then but you know, and then you know,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I'll go back to Mike Greece and his ten you know,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: his ten bullet points over the weekend, his notes, and
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: he talked about that he felt was one of the
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: reasons why the Patriots have gotten in trouble with the
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: draft recently is because they're relying too much on interviews.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: And he talked about the nineteen class with Harry and
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: Juan Williams and Chase Winovich, and you know, all three
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: of those are the first three picks. Williams is the
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: only one still here, and some people don't think he's
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: going to be around much longer. And they had really
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: strong interviews and maybe they need to get away from that.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: And now we're talking about interviews again. Yeah. Richard from
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Ohio right saying about old school talk and Jim Pluckett,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: and he wonders, do you think he'll be a Hall
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: of Fame or he should be a Hall of Fame quarterback?
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: He's Richard says, yes, he's the only eligible quarterback with
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: two Super Bowl wins who isn't in. Yeah, I don't
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: think you should be. Yeah, well, Eli, I'll probably join
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: him soon. Yeah, as a two time winning Super Bowl
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: quarterbacks not being Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't put Eli
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Manning in either. Let's see m Andre from New Jersey. First,
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I gotta ask, is Alexa Sarah? Are you going to
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: the concert at the stadium tonight? Who's Sarah Sarah? Yeah?
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: To Marrow Men's not here, So you want to know
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: if the girls are going to the Conscience or maybe
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: you can get you slide into the DM Yeah, I
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: believe to Mary's in Jamaica and I will not be
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: there unfortunately. It's fun. I'm looking to get back to
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: a concert at some point, but in case the guys
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: don't know, it's the Weekend. The same person that headlined
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: the super Bowl two years ago. I do remember, thank you.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: Yeah went to the one. At that one. It MetLife
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: and it was freaking amazing for a lot of things,
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: but that was offensive, Like yeah, like I never heard
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: of the Weekend, Like I never heard of the Weekend?
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Like what was that? What was the group that you
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: were saying that? I am? Okay, I've never heard of.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I've never heard of Full Disclosure. I never heard that
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: other than him Bloom, I never heard of. I know
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: that one song of the Weekend, but three just never
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: heard of. Didn't the Weekend get made fun of for
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: that halftime thing? It was so weird on TVs, like
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: walking through this like I don't know all of mir
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: right outside this door, I feel like I heard fifty
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: fifty year views on it. People either were like I
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: wasn't a big Weekend fan, but that was pretty good,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: and some people were just like it wasn't that high energy.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: I kind of find that on every Super Bowl. I
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: mean half of it was like walking around loss. I
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: think it's hard to follow up Shakira, and that was
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: that was hot. That was very hot. It was great.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: Perhaps I enjoyed that very much. Yeah, yeah, I mean
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: that when that when that Blinded by the Light song
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: came out, though, I was I had that sucker on.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: The awkward silence in my house during the Shakira Jlo
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: halftime show was worth the price. Oh yeah, wellink Jlo
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: fan aren't as you know, he missed out again. As
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: you know, we had a moment. She's marrying Boston guys
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: left him right, you can't, we did. I mean, she
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: knew I was taken. She didn't want to ruin he
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: had another marriage. He had his chairs out front, his
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: nantucket I had. I had the adder on that anyway, Um,
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Jlo has like a glow, it was, but she carries unbelieved.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: I just think she's stunningly beautiful. Yeah. I saw Jelo
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: in person once that fenway when she was still with
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: a rod, and she would just like travel to games
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: with a rod all the time, and oh my god,
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: it's like there's like a glow that like just radiates
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: off of her and you just get like, I don't know,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: it's like Paul. Yeah, and now I, in all fairness,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: I think she's beautiful. I wouldn't want to spend five seconds.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: She looks like trouble. Yeah, the biggest handful you could
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: ever possibly drink. She seems like I don't know, that's
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: one striking. She does smoke though, how many times she's
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: been over her skin looked like that. If she smokes,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: do you have enough money rights? Oh my god? And
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: she may not smoke anymore, but she was definitely a smoke.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: I know these things. What do you think of? Well?
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: You know, I wouldn't kick. Andre also says I have
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: a football question. If there is another Jamar Chase and
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson or Fred Guy, Deebo Samuel Willing the draft
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: in the upcoming years, does Bill get frightened by the
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Harry situation or does he take a prospect like the
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: ones I name if he sees Mac Jones getting better
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: on a rookie contract, he just took one like Taekwon
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Thornton is a second round pick. Yeah, Like, if there
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: was any fear or trepidation about taking a receiver high.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I mean, he just took one. That's why I never
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: put too much stock and like, well, they can never
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: take another receiver from this school. You can never take
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: a cornerback from school, or you know, you can't be fun,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: you can't do that. How many years they kept trying
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: at why a tight end? And you know, Graham was okay,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Watson was okay, but they weren't what they were hoping for.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: And then finally they hit on Grenkowski. You can't give up.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: You gotta keep going any questions. But still they took
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: a chance on right. Uh, let's get back to the
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: eighth to get outline Mike's and Braintree. Hey Mike, Hey, guys,
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: how are you doing the good grand It's great to
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: talk to you. I love the podcast, but I haven't
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: been able to keep up lately. Is it true that
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: we picked up a little dood and Humphrey from the Saints? Yeah?
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Two months ago. That's pretty I mean, I've been hearing
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: a lot of people discussing how we don't have a
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: true number one wide receiver, but we've got twos. We've
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: got so many number two wide receivers. I don't understand
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: what the concern is I don't. I think you're overrating
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: him a little bit. I don't know. I saw him
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: the highlight. I mean it's great. He's six foot four.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: They lined him up in the slots eighteen Korea catches. Well, yeah,
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: with the Saints. Oh, I know a team that you
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: know can't move the ball on offense and throw the
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: ball through brees. You know, the guy who everybody you
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: know has spent the last two weeks telling me how
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: wrong I am about Yeah, he has one of the
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: best quarterbacks ever throwing in the ball. I don't know
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: if want of potential. I mean, big guys, we don't
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: get a lot in New England. I think this is
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: something to be excited about it. I didn't even know
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: we have him. You got well, that's the point if
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: you know it was it was a nothing move. That's
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: why you didn't hear about it. Let's let's do a
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: quick little I mean he's he's eighteen catches in his career. Yeah,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: I'm going to look it up to him. I have
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: moret I don't want to shut change him. You're still
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: young too, I mean, what is he twenty four? He's little? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: I mean I really some big things. Okay, I positivity.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Are you as excited about Thornton? Yes, okay, yeah that
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: I'm more excited about Takwan Thornton. I am, Yeah, more
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: excited about Takwan Thornton. Yes, and DeVante Parker. Do you
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: know that they signed DeVante Parker. I'm more excited about Parker? Yes? Yeah.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Can we go around the room. He does little Jordan
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Humphrey make the team? Yes? Or no? No? No, no
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: he doesn't. He doesn't mean. I don't think he has
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: much of a shot to make And that's a good
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: thing because we have better guys. Yeah. Yeah, well we've
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: got great guys. But I mean, when you're talking about
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: six foot four that kind of potential, I know, I
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: mean they winned about from the spot. I think he's
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: really good. Well maybe, yeah, he's six four, there's no
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: doubt about it. Yeah. Well that's the thing. They say,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: you can't teach speed, but you can't teach speed. You
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: can't teach you can't you can't teach speed, all right,
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: thanks Mike, Speed or size, all right, Mike, or the
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: ability to play in the NFL if you don't have it.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: A little Jordan Humphrey, I like Mike. I like Mike.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: I think I think he he's the one that's gonna
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: probably put Paul into the grave. I thought Fred was
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: gonna like fall off the chairway when he started. I
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: didn't know if he was serious. At first. I thought
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: I thought he wasn't. I gotta be honest, I think
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: he was. I still think he was being a little sarcastic.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: Ben's in Brooklyn, Hey Ben, Hey guys, um a quick
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: game sixteen catch us. I believe, overestimate, I believe that
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: offense and defense are somewhat interdependent, particularly if you compare
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: to stay baseball, where you can't score if you're out
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: in the field. Right, all right, So my question for
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: you is, of the three phases for the Patriots, which
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: phase you think is most likely to improve the season
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: and which other phase will benefit from that. I'm on
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: record offense. I mean, I think that's an easy bet
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: to make. You got most of the pieces back. I mean,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: there are questions, there are some movement going on, but
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: you reinforce the depth. You've got everybody back, I mean,
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: and that's going to benefit the punting game because you
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: don't have to as much. Yeah, I mean, I hope
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: I hope it is the defense. I would find it
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: hard to to say that the defense isn't going to
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: take some kind of a step back at least early
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: this year, is they try to figure out what they got.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: But I think offensively, I can I can talk myself
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: into some optimism that But I'm with you, Ben, but
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: they are interdependent, and if your offense is clicking, it
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: puts pressure on the other team's offense to keep up,
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: and it takes a little pressure off your defense, you know,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: because you have a little hope, And so I do
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: believe I agree with you. You know, they're all interdependent.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: You know, there's no doubt it's tough on the offense
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: when the defense doesn't force punts. Yeah, well, what do
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: you think about the special teams? I mean, obviously the
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: block kicks would be one thing you hope they could
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: clean up. But yeah, I don't have the stats, but
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: it seemed like Bailey, you know, put a few balls
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: into the end zone for a touchback at least in
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: some key situations. So you know, I don't know if
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: that's something that they could clean up as well. And
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: then if you if you if your defense, you know,
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: doesn't defend from the twenty. But you've got somebody pinned
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: back at the five. You know, maybe that helps them. Yeah,
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: I think Bailey is getting an injury pass from a
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: lot of people for last year. Um, so I expect
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: that they will be better. But I think you're right,
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: the operation has got to be better. Mike thinks Jake
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Bailey is getting caught no well, based on how he
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: was kicking it. You know, the spring I think will
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: be I I don't. I mean, I think I think
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: you'll be fine too, But I don't dismiss anything. He
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: that contract is still what it is, ye, and I
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: have a little bit of hope that the wheels don't
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: just suddenly fall off the but the bus with with
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: Nick Folk too, I mean you've gotten a great two
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: and a half years out of him, surprisingly, how effective
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: he's been. You know, maybe not quite the long range
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: weapon that that you might love to have, But you know,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: is he all of a sudden gonna just kind of
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: at thirty eight thirty nine, just it happens he loses it.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: I mean, he hasn't even come close. He's been great, surprising,
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: but it's something to watch. Sneaky negative just find another kicker.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: Well if if he's your tackle plate kicker, if he's
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: if he's bad, like if Mike is right and like
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: the wheels fall off, yeah yeah, then you just you
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: find find the next another guy. You let this viscuyano
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: guy who's be here right to put him on the
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: practice squad or something. Which and that's why I would
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: I wouldn't totally rule it out. I mean, I know
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: he missed a bunch of extra points last year and
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: you know, had some struggles with the Chargers, but um,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: you know, I just I wouldn't want to see a
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: game get caught like ce Mac and the offense makes
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: some strides and the defense cabbles it together and all
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: we just need this and you know he misses like
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: a thirty five yard field goal for the win, you know,
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: like I just don't want it to cost him, Like
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: it's fine if it happens. And that's my thing that
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: I've you scoff at me. But that's that's what kicking
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: is like. It's not necessarily like I think, for the
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: most part, all of the kickers generally make a similar percentage,
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: but not all the kickers make every one of them
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: when they have to. Nick folks made them all the
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: last two years, you know, early in the game, Tampa Bay,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: late in the game, anywhere in between. He's made them all.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: But that's the killer is when all of a sudden
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: you miss one. Yeah, that costs you a game. And
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: that's why made Vinitary great. He missed a ton of kicks,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: you know, sometimes multiple in the same game, but when
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: the money was on a line man, he made them. Yeah,
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: that's what makes him a Hall of Famer. And that's
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: the vibe I get. That would be kind of unforgivable
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: here missing the costing the team a wit like uh Johnson, Duckxberry.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: Hey John, good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I hope you
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: aren't enjoying the heat, not really getting a little muggy
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: in the studio here. Yeah, Alex, you are one hundred
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: percent run about Frank Peppi's pizza. That's the best pizza
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: I've ever had, and I've had a lot of pizza.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: I like Frank Peppi. John knows, that's good stuff. Paul
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: sir Um. Everybody's talking about the defense being the week
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: or the two, and I agree, But what happens when
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: one of those two tackles Wynn and Brown get hurt,
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: and you know they're gonna get hurt because neither one
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: of them ever played a full season. Doesn't matter, they're
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: just tackles. According to Paul, it is a concern. Yeah,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: it is. I think I don't. I think that they
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: lost two starters, they haven't replaced them, and now you're
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: talking about, you know, trying to get by with two
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: guys that aren't overly durable, and I don't know where
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: the depth comes from. Yeah. To me, that's the worst
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: part of football is you go and say, oh, they're
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: good here, they're good here, and you forget about injuries,
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: and you know this is going to be injuries. Yeah,
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: I have some concerns about the offensive line. For as
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: much as I scoff about offensive lines, I don't think
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: that's going to make or break the season or anything
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: like that. But yeah, I have some concerts. And then
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: that way on when who can be the swing tackle?
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: Which I know. I've got a lot more faith in
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: him than Herod. I mean, Heroin was good two years ago,
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: but last year he kind of regrets. Yeah, well, when
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: you kind of regress last year too. I like it
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: when you better at guard, and I think Mike has
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: talked about this a lot, right guard, Um, I think
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: is a little bit more conducive to his size and
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: skill set. Thanks. John H. Dexter in Santa writes in
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: set aside reality and try not to roll your eyes
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: when I present this question. If Matt Jones plays lights
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: out and the Patriots shocked the world and go undefeated
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: and win the Super Bowl and go twenty and ozer,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: who would be more upset with that outcome? Tom Brady,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Bart Scott or every NFL franchise? Who would be more upset?
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: Bart Scott, big, Bart Scott? Probably Tom Brady would be
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: magnantium two. I don't know how good he'd feel about it,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: But bart Scott like hates, hates, hates. Yeah, I think
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: he'd be one and Brady would be two. Sure, I
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: don't think really. What about the Miami guys Mercury Morris,
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: how would he feel? Oh? Yeah, they wouldn't like it
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: because of the undefeated? Right he's still alive? No, Um,
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: But who's the guy though, I don't know. I'm just
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: kidding now, who's the guy? I don't even know who's
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Who's the guy that Berdie Morris was the guy that
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: used to have the Yeah, yeah, I think he's still
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: alive visit. I don't know. Also, mark me amongst the
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: Mark Me amongst the Patriots Homers that think Taekwon Thornton
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: will be our number one wide receiver this year with
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: one thousand and eighty yards eight touchdowns and we win
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: the AFC East. Wow, Blousers, that'd be crazy. Um. I
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: just hope that you know, from all this, like, I'm
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: less concerned with who and and just just what, Like
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: it doesn't matter to me if Nelson Aglore is great
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: this year or if he gets cut, Like I just
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: I just want them to find the offensive pieces that
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: connect with that, that jive with Mac and that they're
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: able to be a be better than an average quote
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: unquote offense. I think that they were last year, which
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: was great. You know, rookie quarterbe'll take it, but it
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: needs to improve. I don't care who it is. And
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: if it's Thornton, great because he's on a rookie deal,
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: you know he's here for a while, that would be wonderful.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: But you know, if it ends up that it's Parker
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: and Agalore and Myers and you know a little bit
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: of Born and those four are kind of the main guys.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: It is what it is that they're moving football. I'd
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: never want to hear defenders say the Patriots are easier
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: to defend, you know. That's I've never heard that before
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: of this team, and I never want to hear it again.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: I just I would posit that at least I know that,
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: you know, I got a bunch of twos and threes,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: But I think that each guy has skill set that
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: you have to consider. You know, like I think you
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: have to consider if you've got a short outside corner
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: matched up on Davante Parker, that that might be a
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: matchup issue for you. You know, if you have a
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: slower corner, you don't have safety help on the side
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: that Agalore or Thornton is that that could be a
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: concern too, that you know, if you haven't a not
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: so savvy slot corner in the middle going against Bourne
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: or Myers and isn't quite able to stick with them,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: you know, maybe that's a concern. I know, individually, nobody
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: scares you, but you just hope that the sum of
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: the parts are enough to concern you that all right,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: we were spread a little bit, and above all, you
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: hope that Mac Jones can take advantage of all that.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: That's that's that's the final cherry on top that he
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: can you know, that he can get it to the
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: right guys, and that those guys can you know, not
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: just catch the ball, but but make plays with the ball,
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: not you know the thing that you guys know, I
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: hate of catch it and fall down. All right. Let's
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: you know, like some some catch and runs. That's why
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: when we talk about the when we talk about the
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: RPO stuff, you know, like the quick hitters like you
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: know you got some speed with with Thornton, Like why
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: not run some of those RPOs that Mac was so
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: good with, you know, Thornton on the outside and boom
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: it's there. Let him catch it and see where he
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: can end up. You know, those are the kind of
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: things I hope we start to see is just a
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: concerted effort to get the hand the ball in guy's
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: hands and and also to get the ball down field.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: You know, I think that's what I think Paul's made,
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: that point of, you know, stretching the field, challenging defense
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: is deep and and opening. It's going to be any
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: different than last year. They need to do that because
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: they're not going to be able to get by, you know,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: relying on all though the bad players and the other
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: teams covering your guys. Like at some point you have
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: to be better than the guy ye that you're playing.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: Tyler and I have a game for you on this
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: hot Thursday. I'll say a year, and you try to
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: remember all four starting quarterbacks for the championship weekend. It'll
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: be the year of the season, not the year that
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: the games are actually played. Good. So twenty twenty one
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: would be Burrow, Stafford, Mahomes in Garoppolo. This game may
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: be terrible, so feel free to skip of Paul's winning
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: every time with these So who were the starting quarterbacks
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: in the championship games in twenty seventeen? Seventeen Sody Brady's
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: warning against against Jacksonville's guy there with the sorts portals
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: and then the falls right and Ryan case Keenum they
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: beat Minnesota. Uh, do we want to continue with this?
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: Do we want to continue with this? Is going to
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: challenge me? All right? Twenty fourteen fourteen was Brady and
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: Luck who they play in the Super Bowl? Luck, Wilson, yep,
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: and Rock that's correct. Two thousand and eight, Oh, Big
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger, Warner, yes, uh, one of your guys, one
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: of your guys Manning No, small school, smaller school, Flac Flacco.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: And then one more. You'll throw up when you hear it.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: Who oh wait, no, no Eagles? Oh come on? Who did? Who?
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: You'll throw up when you hear it? Oh mcmack nah? Yeah?
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: Um two thousand and three? Who is he playing for
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: at that point? The Eagles? Still Eagles two thousand and
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: three would be Brady delme yep, I just go to
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Super Bowl and then work your way back. They beaton?
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: Who did they beat in the championship that year? Three? Peyton? Right? Yes? Oh?
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: Three was Peyton? Yeah? Okay? And then uh and Carolina
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: beat in the mcnah, that's right McNabb again. Ninety six
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: bledsoe Brunel yes, yes? And who would the Package have
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: beaten that year? Twenty six? Steve Young Collins, Oh, Carolina,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Kerry Collins, I guess so good? Caul Mike uh ninety one,
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: Jim Kelly, Yeah, what year are you born? Out? Mark Rippin? Rippin'
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: is the other? Wow, I'm out on this one, say
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: Phil Sims, No, our guy, Paul Elway, Elway h and
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: Kramer Cosmo, Tommy Kramer, Yes, I liked I like Tommy
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: last one. I liked the eighties era Vikings for some reason,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: last one eighty five. Eighty five certainly did eighty five. Um, well,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: the championship game was Eason. That's right, Easton Marina Yeah,
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: McMahon Yeah. And dieter Brock. That's correct. Wow, Dieter dieter
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: Brock CFL refugee. That's correct. Um. Let's see. Jason writes
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: in in Barcelona, can't listen live today. We'll catch up
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: on the show later. Good luck with the weight loss journey, Fred,
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: Have you tried the easy way and just ditch the carbs,
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: keep the meat, fat, and veg, but lose the potatoes pasta,
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: eat two to three meals a day and cut out
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: any snacks. My dad did this reverse his type two
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: diabetes and lost thirty pounds and three months. The fats
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: and proteins keep you satiated, and hunger isn't a problem
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: after a pretty short time. The weight stays off as
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: you become more insulin sensitive and keep the carbs pretty low.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: I say easy in quotes, as we're surrounded by lots
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: of addictive non foods that can be very tempting. See,
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: this is what I was saying last show. Yeah, I'm
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: just gonna have Alex put together, and I think I'll
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: do it. I think I could do that meat. I
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: just want to know what happens when you stop doing that. Yeah,
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: well you don't have to stop doing that, it's the point. Yeah,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: but you will, Like there's things in there that you
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: will not want to do without the rest of your
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: life unless you have to. But I think I could
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: live without starch. You could go without bread the rest
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: of your life, like I think so. I think that
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: if your base is usually pretty good and then once
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: a week, once every two weeks, you have played a pasta, pizza, bread,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: that's cool. That's what I do. Like, I feel great.
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: I'm cutting French fries out in a way. I did
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: that a little bit to have some in Cali. But
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: it was like eating like two cheeseburgers with no bun
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: for dinner every night. Like it was weird. But I
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: did I drop I drop weight, I mean egg whites,
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: and it was like there was more to find really
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: good healthy food now. But you know what is it?
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: Is it? I you know, I was thinking about our
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: conversation was Tuesday. It's expensive to eat really well, it is, yeah,
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: depending on what you're getting. Like Whole Foods is a
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: fricking ripple. What is amazing amazing organic selections grass. I
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: don't even know where. It is very affordable. There's one
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: on Route one right here and Walpole that just opened up.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: We've been ended up. It's good, it's good good, It's
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: it's hard and it's expensive to find, like to get
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: all good you know, whole you said, Whole Foods and
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: all that stuff. You know, did you see what what
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: was the name of that um, that smoothie company, Um smoothie.
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: They sent him see a harvest daily harvest harvest. I
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: really like that. I like those. And then somebody said
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: sugar you know, well that too. But they've had all
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: these recalls too really recently, whereas they're like people were
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: putting people in the hospital, is that right, getting their
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: intestines removed. They had a dish with lent. This is
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: my just I just did that. I just did the
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: smoothes prepackaged food. It's filled with fillers, crappy oils, canola oils, vegetables.
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: Everything is canola and vegetable oil. And it's like, why
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: don't they use olive oil. It's too expensive avocado oil.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: Olive oil. Tallow that it's more expensive than just canola oil,
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: and they feed us like cattle. It's so disgusting. Band
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: writes in from Brendon writes in from Clinton, Connecticut. Love
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: the show even when you talk about soap. The last
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: few shows, Drew Brees has been mentioned. Do you think
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: the greatest the general public rates Breeze is underrated due
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: to his fantasy value. When he was in his prime,
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: he was one of those quarterbacks you wanted to have
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: on your roster. He played with such a bad defense
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: for so long they were always chasing points. He is
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: a great quarterback, but in my opinion not in the
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: greatest of all time conversation. You're probably right. I think
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: that's a good fantasy. I absolutely think skews opinions. Yep, yep.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: And from Tuesday's show, if I could go to dinner
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: with any three athletes, it would be John Daily, Dennis Rodman,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: and Mike Tyson because the stories would be insane. I
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: was driving home on Yeah, if you can understand what
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: they're saying. I drove home on Tuesday kicking myself for
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: not saying John Daily. John Daily, Now he's a guy
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: I'd like to play around a golf with. I'd like
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: to play golf with John. Yeah, I'd have no interest
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: in Dennis Rodman whatsoever. No, he's too out there. But
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: I like that's like read and be like, wow, this
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: guy's crazy. I don't know how I would keep up
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: a conversation with someone like Dennis Rodman. Yeah, so how
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: was right? Just a quick thing, fred Um for everybody
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: out there. The training camp times will be announced today
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: at two pm, so people can be on the lookout
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: if you're making plans for next week to come check
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: it out. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. We'll have times coming up.
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: Always checkpakers dot com the morning before you make your track,
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: just in case there's any changes or whether or anything
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: like that. You know, before you had out in the
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: station wagon with the kids. Uh, do you know what
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: a station wagon is, Alex, the family wagon? Okay, for
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: a long time, ye was a lawyer. Oh, David and
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: Bethlehem grew up in Peaboddy, he says. So maybe Paul
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: will be interested about embarrassing sports stories. The why used
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: to run a summer camp with some overlapping help from
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: Boy Scout counselors who sometimes had camped with boys over weekends.
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: There was a natural rivalry between why and Boy Scout
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: counselors and their groups. One Monday, it was hot and
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: a day group counselor bought a watermelon for his troop.
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: He had a shouting match with another counselor over who
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: was supposed to buy what, and custody of the watermelon
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: was disputed. The counselor locked it in his car and
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: rewarded his parched boys with warm slightly rants and watermelon.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: On the way home, it started to thunderstorm, and the
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: councilor insisted if the eight boys roll the windows up.
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: One boy in the back was so well toilet trained
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: that he didn't poop all weekend. The watermelon uh and
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: rolled up window and rolling dirt roads worked magic. The
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: poor kid pooped his pants. It rained even harder. First
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: one boy, then another started vomiting. The counselor told the
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: kids to open the windows, but the damage had been
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: done all over the car. Wow. Wow, Now I got
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: a feeling that one of those people were him, right,
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: I would assume yeah, probably. He doesn't say who, which
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: person he was, but yeah, that is disgusting because the
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: kids sitting there with pooping his pants and he got
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: rolled up windows and then oh my god, yes, yeah,
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: what we used to put these poor kids through. Yell,
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: we loved it and we made it. Imagine that built character.
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: We loved it. Uh, Katina, Now they all would have
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: gotten a prize. Katina and Houston, what does that poop
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: your pants trophy look like? The disapproving liberal I just
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: got from fred I A girl pooped her pants during
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: a track meet once. Oh, that happens. That happened a
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: lot in competition. Yeah, in high school distance running all
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: it was like the Western Mass or the D one Championship.
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: I just remember watching a girl do the two mile
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: and like respect to her because she was first. Kept
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: going yeah, and she came, but it was running down
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: her leg. Yeah, the poor girl. Like, but you're in
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: high school, that's mortifying from another school. Oh the slightest
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: little thing that happened when she came in first or second. Yeah,
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: went to New England, so it's worth him. She competed,
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: So aren't we all winners? Come on, Katina writes in
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: I have a very important question for Deuce. I was
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: curious if he had any insights on Bill's socks. I
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: noticed last year he started using cru socks instead of
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: his usual ankle sock. Yeah, that's a subscription only on
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: the socks. We'll give you the hoodie stuff for free.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: But you gotta you know, you gotta, you gotta. Plus,
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: I mean, we got it all on there. Just you know,
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: check my Patreon. And I was wondering if maybe he
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: was trying to change his style to be more relatable
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: to the younger kids, who seemed to prefer taller socks.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: After all, we know he's always playing chess, not checkers. Um,
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: I think there is any information we can pick up
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: from his preseason outfits. I'm just curious. And yes, I
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: pay attention to bill socks. It's how I recognized him
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: in Paris. You guys are all the best in Paris. Wow,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: he saw him in Paris. Bill gets around, he said,
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: And that is socks are interesting to me because when
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: I was a kid, this is going to be correct. No,
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: when I was a kid, like you either wore the
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: stupid up to your knees or you wore the crew
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: that the you know, the calf you know what they
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: wear now? You wouldn't be seen dead in those ankle socks. Yeah, no,
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: not ankle socks, the you know, just like regular regular son.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: Even talking about ones with like the little ball that
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: hangs out, No, no, no, no, that's those are like
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: women's tens, right wear you wear with your tree toims exactly. No,
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: but no, I'm talking about the ones that come halfway
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: up your leg the ship you're either. Yeah, Like when
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: I was a kid, boys would not wear those. Oh no,
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: everybody wore them up to their knees. Right, tube socks right,
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: came all the way up right, But now like everybody
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: wears the the halfway show off the ankles. Yeah, more
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: sex and calves in the summer too, you would put
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: your money in your sock. Oh you didn't have you
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: didn't have the mid caps. Big Nike came out with
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: those Nike Elite socks. Yeah, and then like if you
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: played basketball, you had. So you think the NBA's the
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: socks trend setter. I think the NBA does a lot
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: of that trends because remember like for a while, Michigan
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: came out with the long shorts and then everybody shorts, right. Yeah,
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: but now black socks like the shorts are coming back
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: up again a little you know, Alex would like, let
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: me ask you a little man fashion, like what you
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: like guy wearing shorts? What do you like down below? Oh? Boy,
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: I need more, I need more PEPs after that question
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: and the curtains match the rug in like what kind
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: of socks do you like? Do you sneakers? Do you
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: don't want to see a guy see? I respect if
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: you want to see guys there at the time where
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: guys would wear like Chino shorts and a nicer shirt
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: and then like nice canvas sneakers and then would have
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: like mid caps on and they just looked like a
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: high school color too. Can we talk color of socks?
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Like is that like? What is it like? Can you
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: wear black socks with sneakers now? Or they have to
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: be white or gray? Now? You can wear dark socks
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: with sneakers. Yeah, that's okay. Now as long as they're
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: sports socks not dress socks. Gotcha? Yeah, they can't be
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: the thin right, yeah, dress socks and sneakers. Oh yeah,
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: I would say, like a nice sneak. What would you like,
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: like a nice a nice sneaker maybe with like a
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: nice you know what I don't want to think about
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: the sock. I don't want to notice your sock or
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: want to see your sneakers are clean, and that's it.
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: I know what guys, A lot of guys wear these,
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: especially preppy, but that same outfit you talked about, like
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: the nice Chino shorts, Bermuda shorts, shoes, but boat shoes.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: But but when they wear the leather loafers with no socks,
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: I can't stand that. Yeah, oh that's a big hockey
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: player like type. A lot of guys wear the I'll
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: wear boat shoes, but I don't wear them with no socks.
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: I have the little socks that you can't see, right, yeah,
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: with the little pompama hanging out its hat. Yeah I'm not.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: I'm not Gabriella. I mean, if you've got you, you
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: lessen the life of your shoe or sneaker if you
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: wear it without socks. Oh yeah, oh you're you know,
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: you're done and you're not and you're not taking them
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: off indoor around any other human being. Yeah, you know.
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: But but I'm glad I brought up because it's such
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: a like one of those things that I'm like, does
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: this work? I don't really care, but I still would
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: like to know. I follow this guy on Twitter, George Han,
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: and he like talks about men's fashion like it's like, guys,
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: you know, if you're at the pool or at the beach,
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: that's fine, but lose the flip flops. Nobody wants to
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: see your toes. You know. I'm kind of on that too.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: I mean, as someone with long, long, bony toes, do
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: you do you have to tee where the toe next
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: to your big toe is longer than the big toe
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: and it's like kind of skinny. And I don't wear
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: a lot of flip flops. But I don't really find
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: it anything wrong with it. I know a lot of
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: people who do. It doesn't bother me. Now a lot
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: of women do. Oh yeah, oh is that okay? Because
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: you you know women's women take care of their feet.
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: They haven't they have pedicures. I'll put my feet against anybody. Really,
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: you've got good feetball ye, Rex Ryan told you I do.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: The first time Lane saw my feature, He's like, oh,
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: crab toes and a you know, kind of that crabby
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: you know, So I keep them, I keep them, keeping contain.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: The only thing that bothers me slightly is the noise that. Yeah,
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: the flip flops. That's why they hence the name the squish,
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: like you know, the sandals and even yeah, like I
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: know you guys made fun of me at my party
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: that we used to have, but I would wear I
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: would wear sandals with socks and I don't care what
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: they look like. It's very comfortable and it's echo no
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: echo leather and and it's very cool temperature wise, and
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: very sanitary and comfortable and I don't care what any
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: I will tell you. All of the kids wear slides
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: and oh that's a sports thing. They all take your
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: cleats off and you put your you know, you go
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: into your songs. My little cousin, Jonathan, we were in
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: the Cape for the week of the fourth and this kid,
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: he's like eleven and did not take his socks off
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: the whole time we were on the boat. That's my son.
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: Same thing. I'm like, We're walking out to the beach
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: and I'm like, buddy, you're going socks and sandals like
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: we were doing this, still keeping it going. Yeah, I
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: don't know. The weekend is starting his rehearsal weekend upon us. Yeah,
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: the base is rocking the place. One more email then
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: we'll call it a show. Uh. Lucas is from Rhode Island, Bristol, Well,
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: he's originally from Bristol. Um started right being a fan
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: right before the Charges game this year as a listener,
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: but I go to school in Rochester, New York. UM
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: the last few years, I've grown exhausted of Bill's mafia,
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: who will only just beginning to experience success. Many of
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: my roommates are Bills fans, so thankfully my Patriots fandom
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: has only grown since making my way up here. My
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: question is, are there any fan bases you guys aren't
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: big fans of Jets. Yeah, I mean, i'd say generally
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: are as fans. My best friend is a Jets season
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: ticket holder, and she used to always bring me to
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: the Patriots gam at MetLife. I've been harassed so much
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: just minding my own business but wearing a Brady jersey,
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: and yeahs not really your business, touchet. I just I
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: just like to say, though, I think I think I
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: don't like to really talk about fan bases as like
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: they're the worst. Like I think every fan base has
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: terrible fans and great fans, and it's hard to say
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: specifically like all that fan base is worse, like everybody's
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: got there terrible ones. No, and that's exactly part of
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: it too, like there's terrible people in every fan base
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: that are gonna But you know, generally, I think most
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: fans like their sport, want to root for their team.
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: That bothers you. I love Eagles fans acted during their
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: Super Bowl run. They were just degenerates and we're so
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: mean to the Minnesota fans. I thought it was well,
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: you should have seen when the Patriots played the Eagles
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: in Jacksonville and we won. Like Eagles fans were just
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: accosting Patriots fans after the arrets after the game. Yeah,
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: I mean Eagles fans to kind of I think have
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: their own reputation as yeah, say Dallas, Dallas kind of bugs. Yeah,
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: it's a lot of Cowboys fans. Yep, yep. He also
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: says lucas Uh, I've recently decided to change my major
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: from accounting to journalism due to my interest in podcasts
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: like pu It's my dream to one day, one day,
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: it's my dream to go toe to toe with Paul
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: and in our You'm in on air sometime soon. So
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: my second question would be, do you guys have any
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: tips on building my skills up to hopefully make a
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: career of it. Anything would help, as I have not
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: yet started my journalism degree. Go onto YouTube and do self.
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: Teach self learn like the entire Adobe premiere like Creative
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: see earlier Adobe Creative Sweet. Yeah, I think if you
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: know how to use Photoshop and illustrator and um the editing,
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: the editing one premiere, Yeah, I mean those. I mean,
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: I just I mean as somebody who created their own
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: website and just kind of did it because I wanted
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: to do it. There's ways to do it. You don't
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: get out there tell my son that read good writers. Yeah,
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: read everything. Develop your own voice, develop your own opinion,
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: you know, don't just get to a point where you
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: pair out what other people say. Watch it, be curious
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: and hone your skill. If you want to write right,
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: there's no other way to go about. You want to
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: be on the radio, Yeah, start a podcast, start your
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: own just do it now? Do you have the drive
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: and like just start a YouTube channel? Yeah? I like
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: regret going to college. I don't, but I do. Well,
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: That's why I'm like doing major and journal Keep that
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: accounting and keep that as like your fallbacks. They know
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: what you're doing with all your money, and then just
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: just write like you know, if you're really passionate about it,
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: especially nowadays, journalism ethics completely left the building. Yeah, all right,
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: that's gonna be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: I hope everyone has a good weekend. It's the last
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: one we have for a while, and we'll see you
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: next Tuesday. We'll have a show on Tuesday, Star Wars show. Yeah,
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: Wednesday's show will be a live show starting at around
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: nine thirty. We'll get that on a Patriots dot com.
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: But we'll see you next Tuesday. Thank you for downloading
