Jacob Bunce: Welcome back to Fader Follow. another episode quickly after our last one. We are finally here. It is week one. We have made it. It has been a long, long, long year. Week zero was a nice tease, but we are ready to finally get into the absurd fucking spreads, the absurd games. I just can't wait, Grant, how you feelin'? Fade or Follow: Double feature this week, Boyby. Yes. Feeling good man. This this week ⁓ week one, last week you said great appetizer, but we're ready to get into the meat and potatoes of this. Like it feels like the average spread of every game this week is thirty and a half points, but there are still a few games out there for us to p talk about and get into. But overall fo college football is so fucking back and I'm very I'm s I'm stoked. Jacob Bunce: We had a little bit of burrata on some bread. Now I want a a filet mignon, a New York strip, bring a glass of Cabernet out. Ooh, how about a veal parm? The Porto. Alright, so what we're gonna do, we're gonna preview ⁓ four games. We're gonna ⁓ talk about the Oklahoma game, LSU Clemson, ⁓ Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and then the ⁓ Florida State game. So we're gonna talk about Fade or Follow: Yes. Little ch little chicken parm. Yes, absolutely. Get the Bordeaux out. Let's ride. Veal Parm. ⁓ yeah. Florida State S ⁓ B yes. Jacob Bunce: where we're kinda leaning, ⁓ why, and ⁓ just get right into it. So week one, again, super fucking excited, can't wait. Let's start with the Oklahoma game. ⁓ Grants, give us your take. Fade or Follow: Yes. Yeah, I think this this game has so many systems just point straight up in terms of points. I love the over in this game. ⁓ this game could go over in several different ways. I like UTEP could score ten and o OU's gonna do OU things. They're UTEP's defense has been terrible forever and OU's c looking to come out. Get this get the taste out of less the Alabama collapse out of their mouth. John Matthears back and fully healthy. He's gonna br he's ready to put on a show. They brought in new weapons. They're gonna have a much better, much more established running game this season. So I think there's gonna be points on the board and I think ⁓ OU's gonna put it to ⁓ and ⁓ UTEP loves being a l being a little frisky at the end of these games in garbage time and I think the Jacob Bunce: Yep. Fade or Follow: The total at fifty and a half here is just so is way too low and we're ready to get to see this game soar over. Jacob Bunce: Well, I mean what, Oklahoma Oklahoma's spread is is forty and a half. I mean, as long as they do their job and UTEP scores a touchdown and maybe a field goal, I mean, we should be good. UTEP also threw tw they they threw twenty interceptions last season. And that was the second most I think in FBS. So I could see a pick six. I think they're gonna come out hot. Oklahoma that is. Again, ⁓ the only thing that makes me a little nervous is I think there's a lot of the public on the over. Fade or Follow: Yeah, exactly. ⁓ yeah. ⁓ you Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ or so gravy. Yeah. Jacob Bunce: that said, we got in at 50 and a half and it's already at 51 and a half. So I like our number. ⁓ the spread makes me feel that much better. And I think, you know, if you're a college football team, you can at least score a touchdown or two. So ⁓ yeah, give us the over in this game and let's move on to I mean this is probably one of the the most this is probably the most excited I am. Yeah, anticipated. We have LSU, we have Clemson. Fade or Follow: Participate again. Jacob Bunce: This is Tiger Stadium. It's a night game. Home field is going to do real work here. LSU's favor 10 points. I know it was a close matchup last year, 17 to 10. ⁓ but that was also a lot different of a coaching staff, a lot different of, you know, circumstances. I think p yeah, also in Clemson, I think the the books are are begging you to take Clemson plus ten. Fade or Follow: was also in Clemson, is also in South Carolina. Jacob Bunce: But not here. Give us LSU, give us minus ten. Grant, what else do you want to add? Fade or Follow: Yeah, no, I just I just think like l the Lane Kiffin circus has just been absolutely hilarious this entire off season. I just wanted to like we haven't really talked about it in any other episodes as much, but goodness gracious, man, like this guy just doesn't know how to have a normal week. Like he just he can't whether it be bringing like Yeah, no for sure. No, yeah, but it's like well whether it'd be Right, and there's also like a hit piece Jacob Bunce: Well, they got the they got the court decision that they can have the players come for ⁓ so but but now it's like does he want to take the risk? Because it could overturn. Fade or Follow: Right. And there also was there's like the hit yeah, like 'cause right now it's right now it they yeah, he got the court on his side, but now it's like does he want to play ch how much chicken does he want to play with the SEC? Because if the even if the even if the legally he's allowed to do it, the SEC is still an entity on and to itself and they could say, You what, Lane, you're suspended, ⁓ your team you're breaking contract by bringing back pro players. You're where the college foot the college football playoff committee could say, you know what, Lane, we're not gonna let you into the C F P even if they're deserving. Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Yeah. Fade or Follow: ⁓ God knows what else, monetary fines, whatever. So it's like it's a massive game. Even though Lane Kiffin got the decision he quote unquote wanted, now it's a ⁓ now it's how much how big are his balls. You know what I mean? Like for a t for a backup tight for a backup tight end and a defensive line rotation player. Like how big are how big are your stones, Lane Kiffin? But I totally agree. ⁓ I think the this is a ⁓ Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Fade or Follow: the store this is a story of two teams going in two different directions. I think the transfer the talent on L S U is just head and shoulders above Clemson. Clemson is n is a sh has been a shell of themselves for a long time. And Dabo Sweeney is just kind of he's he's got the pelts on the wall, as some would say, so that's why he hasn't lost his job yet. But 'cause he he's the only one to go Jacob Bunce: Well I think a lot of people see double digits too, like plus ten and they're like, ⁓ yeah, dude, this is such a hype game, blah blah blah. But honestly I'm surprised it wasn't more. Like I'm surprised it wasn't minus thirteen and a half, minus twelve and a half. ⁓ and the line really hasn't moved that much either. Fade or Follow: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. They saw yeah, they saw the Yeah, for sure. No, th yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Like Clemson doesn't yeah, outside of widers no. Absolutely. I think it's a pretty s I think it's a pretty I think they made a good number. They put a good line on this game. And ⁓ that's why we're we're not I haven't seen much blind line movement just 'cause I think the number is pretty sharp. and so yeah, I th I think overall the Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Yeah. Fade or Follow: if L S U plays their game, they win this game by two touchdowns. It's not really that close in terms of no yeah. And I was a b I was a big Sam Levitt guy back at O Arizona State and ⁓ I think just bringing him into this, getting hi pairing him with Charlie Weiss Junior and getting that offensive coordinator combo, quarterback combo is gonna be nasty and out like I Lame Kiffin for all the shenanigans is a dog it in this coaching racket. So Jacob Bunce: At least, yeah. I agree. Fade or Follow: I'm excited to see what he does, so yeah, give us LSU in this game, no doubt. Jacob Bunce: Yeah. ⁓ moving on, we have Notre Dame versus Wisconsin. ⁓ minus twenty and a half is the favor for Notre Dame. ⁓ yeah, I mean I I there's not a lot to me that screams, Hey, let's take Wisconsin, let's let's take the points here. I mean Wisconsin has has just been atrocious year over year. I really don't think that they have that much of an advantage or that much of a difference from the last two, three, five years to be honest with you. I think Notre Dame is pissed off. I think, you know, they still have a sour taste in their mouth for not making the college football playoff. I mean they didn't even show up to a bowl game, which in my opinion was a little bit of a bitch move. Fade or Follow: Playoff last Yeah. They and they got yeah, they ⁓ for sure. And they got buried for that too. So like not only were they pissed about that, but they've been n hearing nothing but disrespect all off season because they didn't play in their bowl game. So it's double ⁓ double trouble in terms of Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Yeah. Well and we said too, it's like the committee is is I mean, this is gonna be a a really tough year for them to decide the twelve teams that make the playoffs and if you're not blowing out your opponents in games that you should be, and we've said this before, like you're not gonna make the ⁓ the playoffs. So again, I think Notre Dame is gonna come out pissed. And honestly, if they don't and Wisconsin does cover this game, I I I really don't know what to think. I mean, obviously we'll we'll debrief after, but that would be Fade or Follow: Yes. Yep. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yes. Yeah, absolutely. And and Yeah, because Red First Yeah. A hundred percent. And also the ⁓ the thing that I'm I th thought about this like since our ⁓ conversation before the show. ⁓ if you've l if you look at Notre Dame's schedule, they play a soft ass co schedule, right? So and Wisconsin is one of the ol like one of the few P four schools that they actually play. Jacob Bunce: That would be insane to me. So soft. Yeah. Fade or Follow: And so the fact that they get a premier program in Wisconsin, like they get they have to ⁓ they're they need to make a statement against this team. I even though Wisconsin is no longer the Wisconsin that we knew growing up, but this they're still a big ten school and ⁓ I think they they come in there and take care of business. CJ Carr is a Heisman favorite for a reason and I think and I think it's ⁓ it's w Notre Dame by three scores and Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Fade or Follow: Wisconsin can do whatever they want. I just don't think it's gonna matter. Jacob Bunce: Yeah, I agree. ⁓ all right, moving on to our last game. We have Florida State, ⁓ plus three and a half versus SMU. Grant, why don't you start this one? Fade or Follow: Yeah, th so this is a funny game because Florida State obviously got the job done last week against New Mexico State. they looked pr really good running the ball. ⁓ they had a lot of they ha they did okay they did their job defensively except a little bit at the end. ⁓ so I think I just think Florida State right now is still getting a little bit disrespect. There still might be a little bit on the Ashton Daniels looked pretty good we when he needed to. And so I just I think they're getting three and ha three points, three and a half points in this game, and I think this isn't gonna be an ACC battle. This is gonna be a who wants it more kind of game and ⁓ SMU was a has been a kind of a cute little darling team. They snuck into the playoff ⁓ last year, a couple of years ago, got their absolute doors blown off by Penn State, I think it was, but ⁓ you know, I I don't think outside of Kevin Jennings, I don't really love SMU's roster. If you like Kevin Jennings, if you're a Kevin Jennings truther, ⁓ ride SMU on this one, lay the number, do whatever you want. But I think just if you're going roster right b roster for roster and how to win what it takes to win a football game, I think FSU can get this done. and at least or at least cover the number and 'cause they have three running backs last that looked crazy last week and the they ⁓ they didn't even really need ⁓ but they had Trey Weisner come a transfer from Texas that didn't even really get involved in the game last week. And if push comes to shove and they need to bring in that third running back, I think they ⁓ they have this they have the horses to get it done and keep this one close. Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I mean, you know, you're you're at home, Monday night game, I think they keep it within a field goal. I really do. ⁓ again, this is just another one where I think the public is is all against what we're saying and more on, you know, SMU all the ranked nineteen. Like th this is easy, right? But I just you know, fuck that. ⁓ I think the sharp money is is exactly where we're at and I guess we'll find out in a couple of days. But no, I agree with everything you're saying. ⁓ give me the give me the guys at home. And ⁓ I think that that week zero momentum coming into ⁓ this is is gonna help them too. So ⁓ yeah, I feel good about this one. Fade or Follow: Absolutely. Yeah, then the th the I was like the average spread on this is a couple of touchdowns we're not that's all we had for the game picks, but a couple of touchdown scores I really like this week just to p tack on real quick. Anthony Calandria transfers over to Nebraska from UNLV. I think he's he gets in the end zone. He's a s sneaky little fucker. He he can take off from fifteen yards out and score at any point. I like him a lot. And I think ⁓ Chris Henry ⁓ freshman wide receiver for Ohio State finds his way into the end zone. I and everyone's gonna be ri justifiably all over Jeremiah Smith and so are the ⁓ who are they playing ball state? Yeah, the so the ball state. Y yeah, so yeah, I think y if they're gonna cover forty nine and a half, someone's gotta get in the end zone and I think ⁓ Chris Henry can ⁓ find his way 'cause I think they're gonna do everything in their power to take Jeremiah Smith out of the game. Jacob Bunce: Yep. Ball State, yeah, they're favored forty nine and a half over under fifty or excuse me, fifty six and a half. Fade or Follow: Or in a blowout scenario scenario, Chris Henry's gonna get some reps and ⁓ he he finds his way. So I like both of those guys to find their way into the end zone this weekend. Jacob Bunce: Yeah, I like those two. I'm looking at the board and man there's just it's it's crazy how many games there are. I'm I'm I'm so excited. I think the biggest toss up that the game we didn't really talk about was Lul Miss. Expect a tweet. We'll be betting that game, but right now we need a couple couple more hours.
