- 0:17Speaker 1: Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team powered by Seahawks dot Com. Yes, yes,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I'm Michael Bumps along with NASA Shelby and this is
- 0:37Speaker 1: Hawk Talk Recap edition. Oh yes, the Hawks beat the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Dolphins thirty one to twenty three. Day did their thing
- 0:43Speaker 1: down in Florida. And let's get some thoughts for our dude,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Big Ray. It's time to go inside the trenches with
- 0:51Speaker 1: former Seahawk Ray Roberts. Big Ray, what's up man? What's
- 0:57Speaker 1: having a big dog? Another victory Monday? Hey, We'll take
- 1:01Speaker 1: it anyway we can get it. We will take a win.
- 1:05Speaker 1: What's the first thing that jumps out to you about
- 1:08Speaker 1: this win down in Florida. To be honest with you,
- 1:11Speaker 1: I was thinking about it after the show last night,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and it's really hard to because the stats don't necessarily
- 1:18Speaker 1: say it. But I thought the defense had a better effort,
- 1:20Speaker 1: even though you know, when you look at the yardage,
- 1:23Speaker 1: it may not be where you want it. And maybe
- 1:25Speaker 1: they scored another touchdown that they didn't need to that
- 1:27Speaker 1: they could have stopped. But I thought the defense they
- 1:30Speaker 1: just looked more active. They looked like that there were
- 1:33Speaker 1: a more pressure around the quarterback. There were some guys
- 1:36Speaker 1: making some plays, and so I felt good about the
- 1:40Speaker 1: direction of where they're going. And uh, you know, obviously
- 1:43Speaker 1: there's a lot of work to do, but I felt
- 1:45Speaker 1: good about that. And then I was just thinking about
- 1:47Speaker 1: Chris Carson in all the different ways that they're starting
- 1:50Speaker 1: to use him. Uh, you know, catching the ball out
- 1:52Speaker 1: of the backfield. Be nice to get back to some
- 1:54Speaker 1: of those screens that were doing in the first week.
- 1:56Speaker 1: But they're they're giving him a lot of touches and
- 1:59Speaker 1: so and then put him in places to be successful
- 2:02Speaker 1: when he gets it. So those are the two things
- 2:04Speaker 1: to kind of stick out in my mind from the game. Now,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you're a tough dude, Chris Carson shows in toughness. Man,
- 2:12Speaker 1: he almost had his leg or ripped off the week before,
- 2:15Speaker 1: yet he comes out and he performs at a high level.
- 2:18Speaker 1: How hard is that to do, especially at the running
- 2:20Speaker 1: back position. Well, I mean, yeah, that has to be
- 2:23Speaker 1: hard because you're also taking hits on that on that leg,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and then you're having to you know, cut real hard.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And the way he runs, you know, he's not a
- 2:31Speaker 1: dude that's going to run out of bounds and things,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and so I think it's pretty incredible. I don't know
- 2:35Speaker 1: if it's like a part of the culture here or whatever,
- 2:38Speaker 1: but uh, dudes that that tend to get hurt tend
- 2:41Speaker 1: to heal fast and or they till tend to just
- 2:44Speaker 1: muscle through it. You know, Russell Wilson, you know, it's
- 2:46Speaker 1: his perfect example. The dude just kind of has had
- 2:49Speaker 1: injuries here and there, but it's been able to muscle
- 2:51Speaker 1: through and keep playing. Uh. And so I don't know
- 2:53Speaker 1: if that's a cultural thing with that team where they
- 2:56Speaker 1: just get some really tough dudes. But you know, Chris
- 2:58Speaker 1: Carson is a fan favorite. He's a favorite of mine
- 3:03Speaker 1: obviously because of the way he runs. He says to
- 3:05Speaker 1: kind of like detone for for how the game is
- 3:08Speaker 1: going to go physically and uh, and so for him
- 3:10Speaker 1: to be able to take that injury, put it behind
- 3:14Speaker 1: him and then just look just as fresh as all
- 3:16Speaker 1: get out. Yesterday it was pretty incredible. Yeah, it was,
- 3:20Speaker 1: Um and Ray we saw something and we talked about
- 3:23Speaker 1: it briefly before we departed the stadium last night. Um,
- 3:26Speaker 1: there was a rotation going on on that offensive line.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Now we're used to seeing that out of the out
- 3:30Speaker 1: of the defensive line, but we saw that out of
- 3:32Speaker 1: the old line. Do you like that approach? You know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I like it because I love first of all, there
- 3:39Speaker 1: just their approach to their offensive line during the off season.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So there was some some high elite level type a
- 3:44Speaker 1: couple of tackles that they could have gone after, but
- 3:46Speaker 1: they went after a handful of players that you know,
- 3:50Speaker 1: combined had over one hundred or so starts and so
- 3:53Speaker 1: they've had some some time under their belt. And so
- 3:56Speaker 1: then you say, like, well, man, that was that. I
- 3:58Speaker 1: like the way they did that because it's depth that
- 4:00Speaker 1: there's more or you know, easier transition into the into
- 4:04Speaker 1: a new team and all that chemistry and all that.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But then you missed the preseason, so there's a lot
- 4:08Speaker 1: of guys that you want to see what they can do,
- 4:10Speaker 1: which you haven't had a lot of reps for it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And so they've been able to rotate through a bunch
- 4:15Speaker 1: of guys. Yesterday, Um, you know, they had Simmons had
- 4:20Speaker 1: come in, Jones to come in. Uh. I forget the
- 4:23Speaker 1: other tack of me escase for me um. But but
- 4:26Speaker 1: they they're doing a really good job of rotating those
- 4:29Speaker 1: guys in and letting them get real time in the
- 4:32Speaker 1: in the moment when it counts reps. And I think
- 4:35Speaker 1: that's gonna pay off down the road. And then also,
- 4:39Speaker 1: if you want to look at it, it it can
- 4:41Speaker 1: kind of be kind of load management, load management for
- 4:43Speaker 1: your party because he's not playing every single snap and
- 4:46Speaker 1: so maybe he's healthy enough to last for the entire season.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So I just I love the way they approach it.
- 4:51Speaker 1: In the all season, they went after you know, a
- 4:53Speaker 1: handful of guys with experience versus one elite dude. And
- 4:57Speaker 1: then I love the way they're rotating guys in right
- 5:00Speaker 1: now and they're not missing the beat. They're they're coming in,
- 5:02Speaker 1: they're playing well. Uh, they're they're they're protecting Russell. They're
- 5:06Speaker 1: creating running room for for Chris and the running backs,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and so I just really liked that approach to It's
- 5:12Speaker 1: a really cool way to kind of get guys acclimated
- 5:15Speaker 1: to what they're doing into the plays and play playing
- 5:18Speaker 1: with real bullets, so to speak. Yeah, and that's a
- 5:20Speaker 1: that's a cool approach. And I applied Carol for taking
- 5:25Speaker 1: that approach because you know, full boss, it's a tough
- 5:27Speaker 1: man sport, right, you never tap out. You always want
- 5:30Speaker 1: to be on the field. But he lives in reality.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I got some old guys up there, and I have
- 5:34Speaker 1: some guys that I want to see. Um, if you
- 5:36Speaker 1: were playing in this big ray that dude seventy two,
- 5:39Speaker 1: if you were playing in this offense and you were
- 5:41Speaker 1: getting tapped out later in your career, would you be
- 5:43Speaker 1: okay with it? You know what? Like I've always been
- 5:48Speaker 1: kind of a team team dude that way, and my dad,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you know, always told me to do what was best
- 5:54Speaker 1: for the team and help the team out. And so obviously,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you know, you want to play every single place, So
- 5:59Speaker 1: you notice that not tapping out Dwayne Brown that much hurt.
- 6:03Speaker 1: But but you know, if it was late in my career,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and I was like, you're potty, and I have had
- 6:07Speaker 1: some injuries here and there, and I'm just missing, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 1: a handful of plays each game. Like I'd be fine
- 6:12Speaker 1: with that if it's going to help me keep playing
- 6:15Speaker 1: the whole season and I'm not gonna get injured and
- 6:17Speaker 1: miss games and all that kind of stuff. Um, but
- 6:19Speaker 1: if but if you know, if I'm more like Dwayne Brown,
- 6:21Speaker 1: well I'm less injured, I don't know if. I don't
- 6:24Speaker 1: know if I'd be down with it. But uh, but
- 6:27Speaker 1: for the group that they have and for what they're
- 6:29Speaker 1: trying to build, Uh, this is like a perfect strategy
- 6:33Speaker 1: to get guys from real reps. I feel it now.
- 6:37Speaker 1: This this offense is looking aggressive, right, I mean fourth
- 6:40Speaker 1: down inside the twenty. Uh, they get aggressive twenty four
- 6:43Speaker 1: seconds left and a half and they don't take knees.
- 6:46Speaker 1: They're throwing the ball down the field. It led to
- 6:48Speaker 1: a touchdown. Do you like this this new aggressive type
- 6:52Speaker 1: of approach to this offense. I like it as long
- 6:56Speaker 1: as it's not like reckless aggression, you know, like where
- 6:59Speaker 1: they're just like it's like just throwing, you know, passing
- 7:02Speaker 1: to the win and just going forward, you know, in
- 7:04Speaker 1: tough situations all the time. But I think because of
- 7:07Speaker 1: the opponents and you know, the way they were the
- 7:11Speaker 1: offense was playing against them against the Dolphins, and I think,
- 7:15Speaker 1: you know, situationally, like I think it's that it's great
- 7:17Speaker 1: to say aggressive like that, but you can't like, you know,
- 7:21Speaker 1: miss putting points on the board. I mean, because the
- 7:24Speaker 1: luckily they you know, they got they got their points back.
- 7:26Speaker 1: But you know, when you when you uh, you pass
- 7:29Speaker 1: on a field goal or something like that, you don't
- 7:31Speaker 1: get it. Those things can come back to the haunting
- 7:33Speaker 1: the end. But but they've created a mentality over there
- 7:39Speaker 1: with the offense that they're going to be aggressive, and
- 7:43Speaker 1: the team supports it, rush supports it, and and so
- 7:46Speaker 1: it's good to see that they are uh, that they
- 7:49Speaker 1: are true to what they're saying, just so if they
- 7:51Speaker 1: don't get reckless with it. So what you're saying is
- 7:53Speaker 1: if they're playing against Green Bay and it's a close
- 7:55Speaker 1: one in the same situation, they probably don't go forward.
- 8:00Speaker 1: In those situations, they probably go get those three points
- 8:03Speaker 1: and you know, call it a day. Uh. And you know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: because that's a real you know, if you're playing against
- 8:08Speaker 1: a more powerful offense or a better defense that you know,
- 8:12Speaker 1: So I think it was a situational kind of a thing.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But I do think obviously it's a mindset because they've
- 8:18Speaker 1: they've been aggressive from the from the first snap of
- 8:20Speaker 1: the season, you know, throwing the ball down the field. Yep.
- 8:24Speaker 1: All right, Russell Wilson had another good day. Man twenty
- 8:26Speaker 1: four thirty four, three hundred sixty yards, didn't throw us
- 8:29Speaker 1: five touchdowns, all right, had a I wouldn't calling him
- 8:32Speaker 1: off day, but compared to other other performances, um, he
- 8:36Speaker 1: still played well. Though. What were your thoughts on Russell
- 8:38Speaker 1: Wilson's play overall? Well, you know, the thing that I
- 8:41Speaker 1: just keep getting amazed by Mike is that, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: like I said, like physically like you go like man,
- 8:46Speaker 1: like he's throwing the ball, he's putting it. You know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: he's dropping him in those those those uh the bread basket.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You know, he's sawing us the deep bombs, and he's
- 8:54Speaker 1: sawing the underneath routes and like all that kind of stuff.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Everything looks perfect. But the thing that that has impressed
- 8:59Speaker 1: me out Russell during this play is this decision making.
- 9:03Speaker 1: This decision making has been on point the entire time,
- 9:06Speaker 1: Like you can't. You can't look at like almost any
- 9:09Speaker 1: throw that he's made, or any decision he's made to
- 9:11Speaker 1: run and it go like, man, that was a bad decision.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Maybe it's to throw the DK and the end zone
- 9:16Speaker 1: yesterday with the intercept. He may have been a bad throw,
- 9:18Speaker 1: or it could have just been a great play by
- 9:20Speaker 1: the by the defender. But every decision that this dude makes,
- 9:24Speaker 1: like when you go back and rewind, you go like
- 9:26Speaker 1: that is the decision to make. So if it was
- 9:28Speaker 1: to like slide to the right and throw the ball
- 9:31Speaker 1: back to the left, or if it was a takeoff running,
- 9:33Speaker 1: or if it was to spin out like he does
- 9:35Speaker 1: and and throw the ball, or or when it is
- 9:38Speaker 1: time to throw the ball deep or throwing the short,
- 9:39Speaker 1: to throw the short to the check down to the
- 9:41Speaker 1: running back. Every single time he seems to be making
- 9:44Speaker 1: the right decision. And to me, that's tougher to do
- 9:47Speaker 1: than some of the physical stuff because you get mentally tired.
- 9:51Speaker 1: This is a different kind of season. We're dealing with
- 9:53Speaker 1: all the pandemic stuff. You know, been a you know,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know away from your families or you know, don't
- 9:58Speaker 1: have the fans like all that kind of stuff, and
- 10:00Speaker 1: that can drain on you mentally, and this dude has
- 10:02Speaker 1: been able to stay mentally sharp the entire time, and
- 10:06Speaker 1: that's really hard to do. Yeah, I'm with you. I
- 10:09Speaker 1: think people underestimate how hard it is to play the
- 10:11Speaker 1: quarterback position because the final decision comes down to you
- 10:15Speaker 1: when you are throwing the football. So it's nice to
- 10:18Speaker 1: hear that. You think that he's making all the right decisions. Now,
- 10:21Speaker 1: let's go over to the defensive side of the ball.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Didn't give up a passer, has over foreign passing yards.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Only gave up two plays over twenty yards. Ryan Neil
- 10:32Speaker 1: had a big hit. kJ was everywhere. Loki Bobby had
- 10:35Speaker 1: a good game too, had twelve tackles. What do you
- 10:37Speaker 1: see out of this defense? Well, I thought, you know,
- 10:41Speaker 1: obviously the dude that jumped off the page was kJ Wright. Like,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I mean, kJ Wright just sniffs out a screen better
- 10:48Speaker 1: than anybody's ever seen in my entire life, like football,
- 10:51Speaker 1: Like just never seen a person like Every now and
- 10:53Speaker 1: then a guy you know gets one or two of those,
- 10:56Speaker 1: but he seems to get them every single time they
- 10:59Speaker 1: try to run a screen to his side. He seems
- 11:01Speaker 1: to sniff it out. So it was good to see
- 11:03Speaker 1: dak kJ back because there was something you know, some
- 11:06Speaker 1: that think, like, you know, the way we've been drafting there,
- 11:09Speaker 1: trying to replace him, and maybe he hasn't shown the
- 11:11Speaker 1: same quickness and sadly that he has in the past.
- 11:13Speaker 1: But that was old. That was like, that was the
- 11:16Speaker 1: the kJ right that we used to seeing on Sunday.
- 11:18Speaker 1: So that was really really good to see. Uh. It
- 11:21Speaker 1: was really good to see some of the some of
- 11:22Speaker 1: the young guys in the secondary getting reps because of
- 11:25Speaker 1: some of the indrews and things. And you have the
- 11:27Speaker 1: backups coming in and like you said, the guys are
- 11:29Speaker 1: making big hits and and you know, uh uh Griffin
- 11:32Speaker 1: had another interception. So, like I said at the beginning,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I think that it's hard when you look at the
- 11:39Speaker 1: score or you or you look at some of the stats,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you feel like, man, the defense couldn't even you know,
- 11:44Speaker 1: stop the Dolphins or whatever. But the stats don't tell
- 11:48Speaker 1: the whole story. I thought. I thought they played a
- 11:50Speaker 1: solid game. They showed improvement and coverage to showed improvement
- 11:53Speaker 1: in tackling. They showed an improvement getting people around the quarterback,
- 11:57Speaker 1: even though they didn't have a bunch of sacks. Uh.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And and you got some turnovers. So I was real
- 12:02Speaker 1: pleased with the defense. I was hoping, you know, for
- 12:05Speaker 1: a big time shutout, but I was happy with the
- 12:08Speaker 1: way they performed. It looks like they're headed in the
- 12:10Speaker 1: right direction. Yeah, I agree with you. I love the
- 12:13Speaker 1: way the defense played. I go back to twenty thirteen.
- 12:16Speaker 1: You know, when Russell was really getting going. He had
- 12:19Speaker 1: to manage the game. He had a defense who's gonna
- 12:21Speaker 1: get it done. You just don't lose this game for us.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I feel like that's how it is with the defense.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Now you have an offense that's gonna put up points. Defense, Hey,
- 12:29Speaker 1: just make a play when we need you to make
- 12:31Speaker 1: a play, and the offense will take care of the rest. Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And if they can keep this trend of getting turnovers,
- 12:36Speaker 1: you know, and getting extra extra um uh series, you know,
- 12:41Speaker 1: steal in a series for the offense, then all the better.
- 12:44Speaker 1: So if they if they're giving up yards and like
- 12:46Speaker 1: he said that, the thing that matters is is storing,
- 12:48Speaker 1: so they're they're they're giving up less points than the story.
- 12:51Speaker 1: So you're gonna win in those situations. But if they
- 12:53Speaker 1: can do that and get the ball back to Russell, uh,
- 12:57Speaker 1: then then you it kind of you can you can
- 13:00Speaker 1: take some of the play on the defense that's not
- 13:02Speaker 1: so great as they as they start to come along,
- 13:04Speaker 1: and I think they're going to be a bend but
- 13:06Speaker 1: not break defense, and they're gonna be a defense that's
- 13:08Speaker 1: going to be opportunistic and get the ball back to Russell.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And I think those things will then contribute to the
- 13:14Speaker 1: victors in a way. We're not used to stand around
- 13:16Speaker 1: here because we're always defense first. But like you said,
- 13:20Speaker 1: this offense is just on a whole other level, dude.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Like and I'm not just saying offenses for Seattle's history,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm saying for the entire league. You know, it's just
- 13:28Speaker 1: an offense that's really on fire, that's flicking on all levels.
- 13:31Speaker 1: And like I said, when you got a guy like
- 13:32Speaker 1: Russell's making all the right decisions, that just makes it
- 13:35Speaker 1: all all the better for the offense. All right, Hawks
- 13:39Speaker 1: are fing No. Now let's move on to the Vikings.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Last one I got for you. If they be the Vikings,
- 13:43Speaker 1: this will be the first time the Hawks are five
- 13:46Speaker 1: in oh for the first time enfranchise history. Now, Vicers
- 13:50Speaker 1: are struggling a bit, but they still have cousins. You
- 13:53Speaker 1: still got feeling. You still got Dalvin cook. Um, you
- 13:56Speaker 1: have that rookie Justin Jeffreys over there that's playing. How
- 14:00Speaker 1: Horton isn't to go five and old? And do you
- 14:02Speaker 1: think they can handle this Vikings team? I think that,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Like you know, this past week, they kept saying that, um,
- 14:08Speaker 1: that the Dolphins game might be a trap game. And
- 14:11Speaker 1: I don't necessarily believe in the trap game thing, but
- 14:14Speaker 1: if there was gonna be one for the Seahawks, I
- 14:15Speaker 1: think it might be the Vikings just because they are
- 14:19Speaker 1: better than their records. They have some players that can
- 14:21Speaker 1: that can really explode. Kirk Cousins is capable of having
- 14:25Speaker 1: like really solid games. And then on the defense, they
- 14:28Speaker 1: have some dudes a product that can get after the
- 14:29Speaker 1: quarterback that their secondary is usually pretty good. They have
- 14:32Speaker 1: two of the top safeties in the league. But but
- 14:36Speaker 1: they just haven't been playing well and so this could
- 14:38Speaker 1: be for them. You know, it could be a game
- 14:41Speaker 1: where they just kind of turn it on and it
- 14:42Speaker 1: becomes a different monster to deal with. But I do
- 14:46Speaker 1: think that the Seahawks should win. I think they should
- 14:48Speaker 1: feel at this point if you can go undefeated in
- 14:51Speaker 1: the in what pet normally calls like the first quarter
- 14:54Speaker 1: of the season, So this would be like, I guess,
- 14:56Speaker 1: one game into the second quarter. If you can go
- 14:58Speaker 1: into that been undefeated, then shoot, why not? Brother? Like
- 15:02Speaker 1: if you go into the by bye week feeling good relatively,
- 15:06Speaker 1: you know you got some some duds that are mixed
- 15:08Speaker 1: up that can get healthy and come back for the
- 15:09Speaker 1: stretch run. So you still have Arizona twice and San
- 15:12Speaker 1: Francisco twice and the Rams, so they could be ready
- 15:15Speaker 1: for the stretch run. Man, I think you. I mean,
- 15:18Speaker 1: obviously that's the best case scenario. But but but if
- 15:20Speaker 1: they if they lost, I wouldn't be mad either. I
- 15:23Speaker 1: feel you, Ray four no going for five. Appreciate you
- 15:27Speaker 1: taking time, big homie. Yeah always brother life here from you,
- 15:31Speaker 1: all right, Nasa Choby, what's good, bump Man. Victory Monday
- 15:36Speaker 1: is always the best thing in the vMac. We got
- 15:38Speaker 1: another one. A lot of people are gonna complain about
- 15:40Speaker 1: stuff and be negative on this victory Monday, but you're
- 15:43Speaker 1: not gonna ran them my parade, Bump. No one's going
- 15:45Speaker 1: to wins or wins, and you'll take them any time
- 15:48Speaker 1: you can get them. In the NFL won't take them anyway.
- 15:51Speaker 1: You can get them. Now, let's see how they got
- 15:53Speaker 1: this win. What happened? See what happened at first? What
- 15:59Speaker 1: had happened was on hawkdock. What happened was the Hawks
- 16:04Speaker 1: are foreign O. Last time they did that was twenty thirteen.
- 16:07Speaker 1: They've never gone five and oh they're going for five
- 16:09Speaker 1: and oh and like we talked about with Ray, I
- 16:13Speaker 1: don't care about all style points, man, I just want
- 16:15Speaker 1: to w did the defense play better? Yes? Did the
- 16:18Speaker 1: offense not perform at what we're used to seeing, which
- 16:21Speaker 1: was a ridiculous level. Yes? But did they go down
- 16:24Speaker 1: to Florida, the longest flight in America, went down there,
- 16:29Speaker 1: got it done, made it home relatively safely, not too
- 16:33Speaker 1: many injuries. I'll take that any day of the week. Oh,
- 16:36Speaker 1: no question about it. And that's the thing, like people
- 16:38Speaker 1: have a kind of this misconception that every good team
- 16:41Speaker 1: has to win blowout games every week. It's got to
- 16:43Speaker 1: be convincing every week. It's got to be perfect or offense,
- 16:46Speaker 1: perfect on defense, perfect on special teams. But reality, it's
- 16:49Speaker 1: the NFL that doesn't exist. You mentioned in twenty thirteen,
- 16:52Speaker 1: people forget the biggest misconception of that Super Bowl championship
- 16:56Speaker 1: team was that every game was like the Super Bowl,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and it was not. It was not. They were down
- 17:01Speaker 1: twenty one zero to a bad Tampa Bay team. They
- 17:03Speaker 1: had times where they couldn't stop the run. They had
- 17:06Speaker 1: to come back. They're playing Houston there, down twenty one
- 17:08Speaker 1: to three, had to have this crazy comeback. So even
- 17:11Speaker 1: in the best team in franchise history, things didn't always
- 17:14Speaker 1: go perfect. But again, we'll take that because the NFL
- 17:17Speaker 1: and four and oh is great. In my book, four
- 17:19Speaker 1: and oh is good on any level. I don't care
- 17:21Speaker 1: for youth football, middle school, high school, college, four and oh.
- 17:24Speaker 1: It's four and O, and you will take that end.
- 17:26Speaker 1: A reason why they're four and oh at least as
- 17:28Speaker 1: of late, is my man Ryan Neil close the game
- 17:31Speaker 1: out against the Cowboys with a pick, starts the game
- 17:34Speaker 1: off with the Miami Dolphins with a pick, smacks Miles
- 17:37Speaker 1: gasket as nice to see this young man play at
- 17:40Speaker 1: a high level. Got his first start. Now, Unfortunately, Jamal
- 17:44Speaker 1: Adams is gonna get healthy and there's no way you're
- 17:47Speaker 1: gonna keep him in over Jamal Adams, but he might
- 17:49Speaker 1: have earned himself some playing time, all right, Bump, I'd
- 17:51Speaker 1: be remissed if we didn't play this highlight here from
- 17:54Speaker 1: the best play by play man in the game, Steve Rabel.
- 17:58Speaker 1: As we were just laying in the lumber on Sunday,
- 18:01Speaker 1: third down in thirteen, here comes the blitz, a swing
- 18:04Speaker 1: pass near signing. Oh my goodness, Neil comes up and
- 18:08Speaker 1: just on loads on Gasking. What a blast. As they
- 18:13Speaker 1: tried to set up a little flare passing the left
- 18:15Speaker 1: flat and Neil diagnosed it and came out of the
- 18:18Speaker 1: secondary to just blow up Casking incomplete. Do I have
- 18:23Speaker 1: to say that? And now I believe a field goal
- 18:26Speaker 1: attempt is upcoming? Wow, what a shot. It's just great
- 18:29Speaker 1: to see how well he's playing right now. I mean
- 18:31Speaker 1: to be thrown into the fire. Last week, you get
- 18:33Speaker 1: a pick against Dallas, you win the game, and to
- 18:36Speaker 1: come out this very next week get your first NFL start. See,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you've had a full week to prepare. But now you
- 18:41Speaker 1: have time to think about stuff. Now you have time
- 18:43Speaker 1: to get nervous. Now you're going down to Miami. Like
- 18:45Speaker 1: you mentioned, the long flight, the weather was super hot,
- 18:48Speaker 1: so it was great to see him come out right away,
- 18:50Speaker 1: gets a pick on the first drive, comes down and
- 18:53Speaker 1: smack smiles Gasking and just playing with that energy, and
- 18:55Speaker 1: I think the defense needed that spark to start today. Yeah,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and we spoke to Pete Carroll early today. He said
- 19:00Speaker 1: he didn't just have those two plays like he was
- 19:02Speaker 1: great and run fits. He was good at disguising things.
- 19:05Speaker 1: He said, he was really prepared. And yes, Neil deserves
- 19:09Speaker 1: that love. But I'm gonna give some love to the
- 19:10Speaker 1: coaching staff too, because they pulled him aside. I'm sure
- 19:14Speaker 1: they made sure he knew what he was doing, made
- 19:15Speaker 1: him comfortable out there. If if you are not comfortable
- 19:18Speaker 1: on a football field, you're not gonna make plays. And
- 19:20Speaker 1: he definitely felt or seemed like he was comfortable out there.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Now we talk about Ryan Fitzpatrick, he could get it done. Yeah,
- 19:27Speaker 1: a couple of big runs. We talked about his his
- 19:29Speaker 1: low key athleticism, but we also mentioned he's going to
- 19:33Speaker 1: turn the ball over. That's exactly what we saw. Yeah. Absolutely,
- 19:35Speaker 1: it was great to see Shaquille Griffin. We'll talk about
- 19:37Speaker 1: him and playmakers make a big play. It was great
- 19:40Speaker 1: to see, like we just mentioned, Ryan Neil get an
- 19:42Speaker 1: interception and honestly, man, we could have had a lot more. So. Yeah,
- 19:46Speaker 1: he did what we thought he was gonna do he's
- 19:48Speaker 1: gonna He made a couple throws. He didn't play horribly,
- 19:50Speaker 1: but he did what we thought we're gonna do, and
- 19:52Speaker 1: it was good to see the Seahawks take advantage of
- 19:54Speaker 1: those opportunities. Must do that. They are second in the
- 19:57Speaker 1: league when it comes to turnovers, So yes, you can
- 19:59Speaker 1: give us the big ours. But if you are turning
- 20:01Speaker 1: the ball over giving it to your offense a good
- 20:03Speaker 1: field position, good things are going to happen. All Right,
- 20:05Speaker 1: DK Metcalf another great performance. Now, the thing that impressed
- 20:10Speaker 1: me the most about DK was late in the game
- 20:13Speaker 1: that smoke screen that they ran made a guy miss,
- 20:15Speaker 1: got his knees. Now, I haven't seen him make a
- 20:18Speaker 1: guy miss. That's I didn't think that was part of
- 20:20Speaker 1: his game. That's not what he does. Big dude gonna
- 20:22Speaker 1: run you over him and get some yat. But he
- 20:25Speaker 1: made a guy miss. This guy every week it seems
- 20:28Speaker 1: like he does something to him, like okay, adding something
- 20:30Speaker 1: to the arsenal. Yeah, like you mentioned, whether it's route running,
- 20:33Speaker 1: whether it's just being physical and running a dude over,
- 20:36Speaker 1: whether it's making a mistake and coming back and making
- 20:39Speaker 1: up for that mistake. I mean, honestly, we know DK
- 20:41Speaker 1: metcalf is the probably the most physically gifted wide receiver
- 20:47Speaker 1: I've ever seen. Not talking about his production yet, but
- 20:51Speaker 1: we know that about him. The fact that he's doing
- 20:52Speaker 1: all the little things each and every week to get
- 20:55Speaker 1: to where he's at is pretty great. Man, man, I
- 20:57Speaker 1: can't now, this is what I want to see next
- 20:59Speaker 1: out of DK. I can't wait to see him off
- 21:01Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage because right now he's so big,
- 21:04Speaker 1: he just runs through guys. Get off of me, little man.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I can't wait till he gets off the line shakes
- 21:09Speaker 1: the dude cleans them up with his hands like once
- 21:12Speaker 1: he starts taking care of the little things like that.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Goodness gracious, this league better watch out. So let's switch
- 21:19Speaker 1: over to the defense. All right. They still gave up
- 21:21Speaker 1: four hundred and fifteen yards, but they kept everything in front.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Only two plays over twenty yards. This is the type
- 21:27Speaker 1: of defense that will win ball games for you. Like
- 21:30Speaker 1: I mentioned earlier, they are the game managers. Now. Just
- 21:33Speaker 1: don't give up the huge plays, calls turnovers, don't let
- 21:37Speaker 1: the quarterback throw for four hundred and seventy five yards.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I think they're turning a corner and they did it.
- 21:42Speaker 1: With some backups out there well. And the great thing too,
- 21:44Speaker 1: is the explosive plays. You look at Pete has all
- 21:46Speaker 1: his big game goals right and turnover battle special teams
- 21:50Speaker 1: things like that. One of them is giving up explosive plays.
- 21:52Speaker 1: And each of the first three weeks of the year,
- 21:54Speaker 1: the Seahawks were pretty bad at it. We're giving up
- 21:56Speaker 1: over ten explosive plays a game, which is just unacceptable.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And Pete Carroll's defense, so it was great to see that.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And honestly, man, here's the deal about our defense bump.
- 22:05Speaker 1: We're just probably never going to statistically be a top
- 22:08Speaker 1: five or top ten defense. Okay, the damage has kind
- 22:11Speaker 1: of already been done. It reminds me of when I
- 22:14Speaker 1: was in college. If you have a bad semester with
- 22:16Speaker 1: your grades right, you can have a great rest of
- 22:19Speaker 1: your college career, but your humutive GPA is messed up
- 22:22Speaker 1: from that bad semester. So the damage has been done
- 22:24Speaker 1: statistically for the Seahawk defense through the first four weeks.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I think they can get there, and they're already improving.
- 22:30Speaker 1: It's not gonna look as good as people wanted to
- 22:31Speaker 1: see on paper, but as long as they consistently improve
- 22:33Speaker 1: week to week. By the end of the year, when
- 22:35Speaker 1: we get everyone back, this could be much different defense.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Now I was a four old student, as I can't
- 22:40Speaker 1: relate to that at all. You know, damn? All right,
- 22:44Speaker 1: come on now, you already know, you already know. Okay.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Another strong performance by Ugo Amadi continues to impress. I
- 22:52Speaker 1: look at him, he looks again comfortable. That's what I
- 22:55Speaker 1: look at when I'm critiquing guys. I want to say,
- 22:58Speaker 1: does he believe in what he's seemed? Is he flying
- 23:00Speaker 1: to the football? What's his alignment assignment looking like? And
- 23:04Speaker 1: I'm looking at Google and I see a guy who
- 23:06Speaker 1: won is taking advantage of an opportunity unfortunately provided because
- 23:09Speaker 1: Marky's Blair is out. But he's taking this opportunity. He's going.
- 23:13Speaker 1: He looks good out there. He's a for sure tackler.
- 23:15Speaker 1: He's getting his hands on the football. I like what
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'm seeing. Yeah, No, I love him. He's been good
- 23:18Speaker 1: and run fits. He's been great in coverage. He hasn't
- 23:21Speaker 1: been beat over the top. He talked about last year.
- 23:23Speaker 1: He was in on the play against Green Bay on
- 23:27Speaker 1: two of the big plays on their last drive to
- 23:28Speaker 1: kind of sealed that game. And he kind of talked
- 23:30Speaker 1: about at some point this year. I forgot what interview
- 23:32Speaker 1: it was, but how that kind of stuck with him
- 23:33Speaker 1: all offseason and he's talking about training and how he
- 23:35Speaker 1: can get better, and it was it was great to
- 23:37Speaker 1: see him when he's behind Markie's blair to continue to
- 23:39Speaker 1: put that work in because he stepped in and he's
- 23:41Speaker 1: ready to go. So it's cool to see him stay
- 23:44Speaker 1: ready so you never have to get ready. And he's
- 23:45Speaker 1: been saying, well, nothing like experience. Now the Hawks held
- 23:50Speaker 1: the Dolphins to field goals instead of touchdowns. When I
- 23:53Speaker 1: was a coach and my defense held an offense who
- 23:56Speaker 1: was moving the ball to a field goal, the best
- 23:59Speaker 1: thing I could put it on the foot. You're yelling
- 24:02Speaker 1: now to make this offense put it on the foot. Now,
- 24:04Speaker 1: you would love to not have them score it off,
- 24:07Speaker 1: but that's not realistic. I don't know any defense that
- 24:09Speaker 1: shut every team out. Teams are gonna move the ball,
- 24:11Speaker 1: but once you get into a certain part of the field, man,
- 24:13Speaker 1: you'll take three points. You've been thinking, Okay, let's just
- 24:15Speaker 1: hold him to three right now. That defends it exactly
- 24:18Speaker 1: that well, especially because this offense is gonna put up
- 24:20Speaker 1: points So if they're getting three and we're getting seven,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I mean, to the math, we're gonna win the football game.
- 24:25Speaker 1: So it's a win every time. This is the NFL.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Teams are gonna move the ball a little bit between
- 24:30Speaker 1: the twenties, but when you get right when you need
- 24:32Speaker 1: to in the red zone, it's great to see. And
- 24:35Speaker 1: what about my guy Chris Carson, Man, and I come on,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you got gaytor rolled. I thought maybe it was like
- 24:39Speaker 1: ACL mcl he's hobbling off the field. We get the
- 24:42Speaker 1: Monday Tuesday report that's saying he's out there doing this thing. One,
- 24:46Speaker 1: this dude is tough, and two, the way he was moving,
- 24:49Speaker 1: you would not have thought that he had the injury
- 24:51Speaker 1: that he had the week before. He might be the
- 24:53Speaker 1: toughest dude on this football team. Yeah. Man, it's probably
- 24:56Speaker 1: between him and Dwayne Brown. Honestly, Chris Carson has had
- 24:59Speaker 1: a tough injury every single year. Like we said, we
- 25:01Speaker 1: were scared that we're gonna lose him for the season again.
- 25:03Speaker 1: That man, I swear to guy like it's it's it's
- 25:07Speaker 1: something you just don't see anymore. He's kind of like
- 25:09Speaker 1: from an old school He's a different breed of dude.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Other guys, Hey, I gotta sit out at least a week,
- 25:13Speaker 1: you know, game time decision. I'm just not really feeling right,
- 25:16Speaker 1: and I'm over a track guy. When I get out there,
- 25:17Speaker 1: my body's one hundred percent. I'm not going. Chris Carson
- 25:19Speaker 1: the complete opposite of that. That man is gonna run
- 25:22Speaker 1: hard and he's gonna be out there each and every
- 25:23Speaker 1: single week. He was out there, took a big hit
- 25:25Speaker 1: at one point in the game, got the win knocked
- 25:27Speaker 1: out of him, came back still had two touchdowns. Chris
- 25:30Speaker 1: Carson just a beast man, Just a beast. I want
- 25:32Speaker 1: to meet his mom and his daddy. Man, they must
- 25:34Speaker 1: have been tough on him. Suck it up, rub some
- 25:36Speaker 1: dirt on it, get your butt up, and get gone.
- 25:38Speaker 1: We need more of that. I need more kids like that.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I'm also go hard on my son just because Chris
- 25:43Speaker 1: Carson man. All right, the m I a kid Travis
- 25:46Speaker 1: Homer's score in his did he go? Is he from
- 25:49Speaker 1: Miami or just went to school there? I thought, I'm
- 25:51Speaker 1: pretty sure he's from Miami. Everything I know about Travis
- 25:53Speaker 1: seems like a pretty Miami dude. And he played all
- 25:55Speaker 1: his home games at that hard Rock Stadium. So it
- 25:57Speaker 1: was good to see him get out there and a touchdown.
- 26:00Speaker 1: He scored it on too. He wasn't even the option
- 26:01Speaker 1: on the play was bellout. He was a bellout. If
- 26:05Speaker 1: if he would have if his guy would have blitzed
- 26:06Speaker 1: one of those backs would a blitz, he would have
- 26:08Speaker 1: stayed him for pass pro that's savvy football. Your guy
- 26:11Speaker 1: doesn't blitz. Now you can release. You sit there. You
- 26:13Speaker 1: look at Russell's eyes. He goes left all the way
- 26:15Speaker 1: to the right, back to Travis Homer, and he was
- 26:17Speaker 1: ready to go. Now. I scored a touchdown against USC.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm from LA and I scored a touchdown against USC
- 26:24Speaker 1: in the coliseum at home, in front of my boys.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Ain't nothing like that. I'm sure he enjoyed it. Oh
- 26:29Speaker 1: that's you gotta love it. So him and his and
- 26:31Speaker 1: DJ Dallas got his first game as well. So it's
- 26:33Speaker 1: cool to see the Miami kids ball out and do
- 26:36Speaker 1: a little some good things back at home. Man talk
- 26:39Speaker 1: about Quandre and that and that that. I mean, I'm
- 26:41Speaker 1: gonna leave it to you, dB defense talk to me. Honestly,
- 26:46Speaker 1: Quandre dig is probably gonna beat some counseling after this
- 26:48Speaker 1: first part of the season. Man, this guy's out here
- 26:50Speaker 1: just trying to play football. He works just like everybody else.
- 26:53Speaker 1: He is taught boom long arm action. He's driving down
- 26:57Speaker 1: on the football, he's doing everything text book, and so
- 27:01Speaker 1: the one that gets the Patriots. Okay, there was helmet
- 27:03Speaker 1: helmet contact. He was coming trying to make a football play.
- 27:05Speaker 1: There's no there's obviously no intent there. That was really unfortunate.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I still don't agree with ejection whatever it happened this week.
- 27:12Speaker 1: My goodness, man, you're entitled to the football, bump the
- 27:15Speaker 1: ball is thrown, you're entitled to drive down. And we
- 27:17Speaker 1: were watching the game. We thought it was gonna be
- 27:19Speaker 1: a passing interference because maybe he got there half a
- 27:21Speaker 1: second early, which I would have disagreed with in that sense.
- 27:23Speaker 1: But to call to call a hit on a defenseless
- 27:26Speaker 1: guy with contact from upstairs, I just I don't know
- 27:29Speaker 1: what to do anymore, man, Quandridas. Just keep balling, man.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Hopefully some people were helping you pick up some of
- 27:35Speaker 1: these fines, man, but just keep balling, because it is
- 27:37Speaker 1: tough to play free safety in the NFL right now. Man,
- 27:40Speaker 1: it's tough, and honestly, nas I think that was a.
- 27:43Speaker 1: They make that call because the last week they watched
- 27:46Speaker 1: the film, they watched the game. They're like, oh, this
- 27:48Speaker 1: guy's aggressive and he comes in. If it looks any
- 27:51Speaker 1: type of shady, we're gonna throw a flag on his guy. Quandre,
- 27:54Speaker 1: hold your head, you are balling, sir. Now, Alan Robinson
- 27:58Speaker 1: had a big time stop on third down. Darrell Taylor
- 28:02Speaker 1: was the guy. He's hurt, he's not available on Robson
- 28:05Speaker 1: has taken advantage of every opportunity that he has. Right now,
- 28:08Speaker 1: the young man's getting it done. I like what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 28:11Speaker 1: I love it too, because he's not he's not getting
- 28:12Speaker 1: a ton of reps um the defensive line. Obviously in
- 28:14Speaker 1: Miami there are switching guys out as much as possible.
- 28:16Speaker 1: But when he's been out there, he gets to sack
- 28:18Speaker 1: against the Cowboys on a clutch play to get force
- 28:21Speaker 1: a field goal or a miss opportunity there, and then
- 28:24Speaker 1: comes up at a big third down stop. So it's
- 28:25Speaker 1: great to see the man from Syracuse balling out. All right,
- 28:28Speaker 1: let's talk about who was making plays. Who's balling playmakers? Playmakers?
- 28:43Speaker 1: Well they make us Okay, well we could do this
- 28:46Speaker 1: every single week, but we have to start with number three.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I mean, the man is still playing at the MVP level.
- 28:52Speaker 1: We talked about twenty four for thirty four, three hundred
- 28:55Speaker 1: and sixty yards, two touchdowns, have the one interception. Now,
- 28:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna say this about the interception bump. I'll let
- 29:01Speaker 1: you talk about what DK did on the route they
- 29:04Speaker 1: brought seven. We had six in the block. One guy
- 29:07Speaker 1: came free off the edge, Russell kind of rushed the throw,
- 29:10Speaker 1: kind of threw off his back foot. dB undercuts the route. Okay,
- 29:13Speaker 1: good on them, good play by them. If that's the
- 29:17Speaker 1: one bad decision Russell made, that's probably the only bad
- 29:20Speaker 1: decision he's made in four games. Yeah, and he's we
- 29:24Speaker 1: shouldn't expect more of that. And it's impossible for him
- 29:27Speaker 1: to play perfect, right, He's a human being. He's gonna
- 29:29Speaker 1: make mistakes. I appreciate DK trying to take the bullet
- 29:33Speaker 1: for his boy. That's what good teammates do, especially when
- 29:37Speaker 1: you have a quarterback playing the way that he's playing.
- 29:39Speaker 1: The only thing I could say DK could have done
- 29:42Speaker 1: was just become the defender and try to hit the
- 29:44Speaker 1: ball out. But I mean, the dB ain't to play.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Guys are going to make plays. In this league. I
- 29:48Speaker 1: don't care if you're playing the Dolphins or the Bengals
- 29:51Speaker 1: or the Browns. They got dudes out there too. They're
- 29:53Speaker 1: gonna make plays. Yeah, guys get paid to play the
- 29:55Speaker 1: game too. Their coaches get paid a coach, So I mean,
- 29:57Speaker 1: you're right, guys are gonna make plays. But russ man
- 30:00Speaker 1: and only had two touchdowns. Let me here and say
- 30:02Speaker 1: that only had two touchdowns, But that brings his hold
- 30:05Speaker 1: up to sixteen passing touchdowns on the season, the most,
- 30:09Speaker 1: tied for first of all time through four games of
- 30:12Speaker 1: the season, sixteen touchdown passes tied with Peyton Manning. So
- 30:15Speaker 1: he's still set in records or time records every single week. Yep.
- 30:19Speaker 1: If you're a hater, stop Hayden some out time is
- 30:23Speaker 1: dude is balling all right. DK Metcalf had four receptions
- 30:26Speaker 1: four hundred and six yards. He did have a drop.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I don't know, do you qualify that as a drop? Me?
- 30:31Speaker 1: I do because I'm a receiver. I'm like I used
- 30:33Speaker 1: to tell my guys, you touch it, you buy it.
- 30:34Speaker 1: If you touch it, you catch that thing. He's a
- 30:37Speaker 1: big dude. But the dude who hit him got knocked
- 30:39Speaker 1: out the game. With a concussion. That's how strong this
- 30:42Speaker 1: kid is. Dude, he's a brick wall. As the dB
- 30:45Speaker 1: and me, I'm gonna give the guy the pass break up,
- 30:46Speaker 1: especially because he's you're gonna play. You're getting up and
- 30:49Speaker 1: waving your hands. No, get that out of here. Well,
- 30:52Speaker 1: unfortunately for him, he wasn't able to. But he just
- 30:54Speaker 1: ran into a brick wall. But no, I mean, you're right.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I think I think if you asked DK, he would say,
- 31:00Speaker 1: I need to catch that football. He holds himself at
- 31:02Speaker 1: a high standard. But even with that, the thing that's
- 31:04Speaker 1: crazy about him is he's leading the NFL and yardage
- 31:07Speaker 1: right now. He has sixteen receptions. I think he's tied
- 31:10Speaker 1: with Digs in Buffalo and buff and he has like
- 31:12Speaker 1: twenty four or twenty five. So he's making big plays
- 31:15Speaker 1: every time he gets his hand on the football, averaging
- 31:17Speaker 1: over twenty four yards a reception. He is eating up
- 31:21Speaker 1: a quarter of the field every time he catches the
- 31:25Speaker 1: full bought us a nice weapon a half, Chris Carson.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Nice to see him get going. We talked about it earlier.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Sixteen carries eighty yards, two touchdowns, his first rushing touchdowns
- 31:34Speaker 1: of the year. He has more receiving touchdowns than he
- 31:36Speaker 1: has rushing touchdowns. Three recessions for twenty yards a hundred
- 31:40Speaker 1: yards of total offense. Chris Carson is a beast. No, absolutely,
- 31:45Speaker 1: We've mentioned earlier. I mean, there's not a lot of
- 31:46Speaker 1: things you can say about the man, especially too knowing
- 31:49Speaker 1: that surprisingly actually call Outside had a shoulder injury, wasn't
- 31:52Speaker 1: able to go on Sunday, so they're a little thin.
- 31:54Speaker 1: As it was in the running back room. We didn't
- 31:56Speaker 1: know what we're going to see him coming out the injury.
- 31:58Speaker 1: But just to Chip called Chris Carson fashion, he's just
- 32:02Speaker 1: a bad He's a bad man, and he came out
- 32:04Speaker 1: there and did his thing. Shaquille Griffin one tackle, one intercession,
- 32:08Speaker 1: three passes defended. That one tackle. Now, last last week
- 32:11Speaker 1: he had eleven tackles, and I was searching, I'm all right, maybe, hey,
- 32:14Speaker 1: you know, Pete, was that a good game by him?
- 32:16Speaker 1: Had eleven tackles? You know, No, when a dB has
- 32:19Speaker 1: eleven tackles, that's never a good thing. But I was
- 32:21Speaker 1: reaching this week. One tackle, one interception, three passes defended.
- 32:24Speaker 1: He seemed like he just seemed really prepared whatever they
- 32:28Speaker 1: threw at him. I felt like he was reading the
- 32:30Speaker 1: route combinations. The way he was breaking up the passes
- 32:33Speaker 1: was Test Book two. One hand on the hip across
- 32:35Speaker 1: the body with the other hand he put on a
- 32:37Speaker 1: clinic no. And the thing about him is he's playing
- 32:39Speaker 1: with confidence. Man, He's playing with a level of confidence
- 32:42Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever seen him play with. Obviously,
- 32:44Speaker 1: last year he had a great season, really turned the corner,
- 32:46Speaker 1: went to the Pro Bowl. So he was already doing
- 32:48Speaker 1: things last year. But this year he's playing with confidence.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And now he's showing you can take the ball away.
- 32:52Speaker 1: That was the one last thing that he needed to
- 32:54Speaker 1: prove to show his game on his journey to hopefully
- 32:57Speaker 1: becoming a perennial Pro Bowl slash All Pro type defenders.
- 33:01Speaker 1: So he's starting to do that now. And now guys
- 33:03Speaker 1: are gonna start to notice that, right, QB's gonna start
- 33:06Speaker 1: to notice, Hey, maybe we can't throw twenty six no more. Yep,
- 33:09Speaker 1: get your money, shock contract year. I ain't managed baby,
- 33:13Speaker 1: all right, David Moore. All he does is make big plays.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Three receptions ninety five yards one touchdown. D mo swag
- 33:20Speaker 1: me and you this is our guy. Oh love me.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Some demo demos The man. Dude, honestly, I love him.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Plays that he played at a small school, I'm blanking
- 33:29Speaker 1: on it. I know it was a double directional school.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I think Division two. But Demo came out here and
- 33:34Speaker 1: has just been born. Anytime he's given the opportunity, he
- 33:37Speaker 1: makes big plays. If he's catching the football, he has
- 33:39Speaker 1: his hands on the ball, he has the opportunity to
- 33:41Speaker 1: take it to the house or make a big play.
- 33:43Speaker 1: And the other thing, too, is that when he caught
- 33:45Speaker 1: him on a little touch, bass will end around. When
- 33:47Speaker 1: he just shook that dude, who give me those ankles? Boy,
- 33:50Speaker 1: Holy smokes man, he was dead to rights and that's
- 33:52Speaker 1: gonna look tough on film this morning if you're in Miami.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, all that dude has his job was
- 33:58Speaker 1: too contained. The email was like, nah, no container here, buddy,
- 34:01Speaker 1: No contain him all right. Next the old man kJ
- 34:05Speaker 1: Wright had eight tackles, two hits, three screens where he
- 34:08Speaker 1: doesn't lit the dude up, three passes defended. Probably should
- 34:11Speaker 1: have had two interceptions, but you can't expect anybody wearing
- 34:15Speaker 1: number fifty to have the greatest hands. He did have
- 34:18Speaker 1: three interceptions last year. He says his goal this year
- 34:21Speaker 1: is to get five. He could have had two this week.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Buddy balled out, Oh yeah, no, of course, you know
- 34:25Speaker 1: he's If anyone is kicking him himself, it's kJ Wright.
- 34:27Speaker 1: And I know his teammates are give him a hard
- 34:29Speaker 1: time for that, but he set the tone. He was
- 34:31Speaker 1: out there knocking dudes out. And you guys mentioned it
- 34:34Speaker 1: with Pete this morning. We mentioned it with Ray earlier.
- 34:37Speaker 1: It's uncanny in any level, high school, college, any division
- 34:41Speaker 1: in the NFL. I've never seen someone diagnosed the screen.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Doesn't matter what team it is, doesn't matter what scheme
- 34:47Speaker 1: it's coming from, doesn't matter if it's half back, a
- 34:49Speaker 1: tight end screen, a wide receiver, slip screen. kJ Wright
- 34:52Speaker 1: has some kind of spidy sense. And you better get
- 34:55Speaker 1: your head on swivel because you don't say in a chance,
- 34:57Speaker 1: because fifty is coming and he's blowing you up. He's
- 35:00Speaker 1: a hound all when it comes to all screens. All right,
- 35:02Speaker 1: let's go to the wide receiver room with the doub
- 35:05Speaker 1: r round up. Let's get it. Freddie Swing finds ways
- 35:08Speaker 1: to contribute. Every week. He's had at least one reception
- 35:11Speaker 1: in every game. He had two in this game. I
- 35:14Speaker 1: love seeing the young man get active. When the ball
- 35:17Speaker 1: is in his hand. He looks explosive, he's comfortable. I'm
- 35:21Speaker 1: gonna say by the end of this year, he's gonna
- 35:23Speaker 1: have twenty twenty five catches. Oh, no question about any
- 35:26Speaker 1: thing about him. Is he as a receiver? Obviously, you
- 35:29Speaker 1: know it's more than anyone. You have an idea that
- 35:31Speaker 1: I might get targeted on certain plays or not, but
- 35:34Speaker 1: you know you're not any of the top three options
- 35:36Speaker 1: on most plays that he's in there. But it's cool
- 35:38Speaker 1: to see him anytime the ball is thrown his way.
- 35:41Speaker 1: He's kept coming down the football. So it's good to
- 35:43Speaker 1: see a young kid like that continuing to get reps
- 35:46Speaker 1: and be put in different slots, in different positions, and
- 35:48Speaker 1: to show Russell that you're reliable, because that's another thing
- 35:51Speaker 1: you gotta do, is receiver. If you're out there dropping
- 35:53Speaker 1: balls to running the wrong route, you will not be
- 35:55Speaker 1: on the football field. So kind of developing that trust
- 35:57Speaker 1: with Russell Wilson, so he knows if the spot light
- 36:00Speaker 1: in the game, can I can trust eighteen? You know
- 36:04Speaker 1: who he can trust he can trust number sixteen and
- 36:06Speaker 1: number sixteen had a rare drop. I'm not used to
- 36:08Speaker 1: seeing this I just wanted to throw a flag. I'm like,
- 36:11Speaker 1: they must have did something a lot. He don't. He
- 36:12Speaker 1: don't drop the ball like that, but he did have
- 36:15Speaker 1: a drop. But you expect Tyler to bounce back from that.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Of course, Tyler, we talked about it. I promise you
- 36:21Speaker 1: that's gonna last time to see that all season. You
- 36:23Speaker 1: can you can bet that right now he's not gonna
- 36:25Speaker 1: drop another ball. Still bounce back with so important two
- 36:28Speaker 1: receptions thirty nine yards. Not the typical Tyler Locket game.
- 36:31Speaker 1: But Tyler is gonna bounce back. I promise you'll have
- 36:33Speaker 1: a big week against Minnesota. Yep. And you know who
- 36:36Speaker 1: had a big week, The old man, Greg Olsen probably
- 36:39Speaker 1: had his best game of the year. Had five receptions
- 36:41Speaker 1: for thirty five yards. Just reliable. We talked to Pete
- 36:44Speaker 1: and the one football thrown at him that he didn't
- 36:47Speaker 1: catch was in the end zone, but Russell Wilson threw
- 36:50Speaker 1: it to him and he was covered two guys on him.
- 36:52Speaker 1: That just shows you the trust that Russell has in
- 36:56Speaker 1: greg Olsen. It was fun to see the veteran get loose. Yeah. No,
- 37:00Speaker 1: and it started last week two. He had a big
- 37:02Speaker 1: fourth down reception and on the game winning driving against Dallas.
- 37:05Speaker 1: So he just missed a reliable man. I think, obviously
- 37:08Speaker 1: you know what you got with Tyler Lockett. But when
- 37:10Speaker 1: third downs coming down, Greg Olsen's gonna be on the
- 37:12Speaker 1: field because you know he's gonna be in the right spot,
- 37:14Speaker 1: he's gonna right route, and he's gonna do what he's
- 37:16Speaker 1: supposed to do. So it was good to see him
- 37:18Speaker 1: get going a little bit. All right, I'm gonna run
- 37:20Speaker 1: through these stats real quick. DK had four for one
- 37:22Speaker 1: on six, David Moore three for ninety five and a
- 37:24Speaker 1: great touchdown. Lockett was two for thirty nine. Olsen had
- 37:28Speaker 1: five for thirty five, Freddie Swaying two for thirty two,
- 37:31Speaker 1: Chris Carson three for twenty, Uncle Will dis League two
- 37:34Speaker 1: for fifteen, DJ Dallas another two for fifteen, Travis Homer
- 37:38Speaker 1: one for three. Is nice to see how many one, two, three,
- 37:43Speaker 1: four receivers get involved, two tight ends and three running backs.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Needless to say, Russell is spreading the love love what
- 37:51Speaker 1: we're seeing from Russ. But Bump, it is time to
- 37:53Speaker 1: get into the coach's corner. D Most Swag strikes again.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Seventeen yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson a four man rush.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Russ looks right side, got a man in the end
- 38:03Speaker 1: zone reaching up, making me catch David Moore? Is he
- 38:06Speaker 1: in for the touchdown? He is David Moore in the
- 38:10Speaker 1: back corner of the end zone. There is a flag down, however,
- 38:14Speaker 1: let's see what that's all about. But David Moore reaches up,
- 38:17Speaker 1: makes a catch, looks down, taps his toes in the
- 38:20Speaker 1: back of the end zone, and the Seahawks put six
- 38:24Speaker 1: on the board. All right, bum what do we see
- 38:26Speaker 1: out of Demo and Russell Wilson on this play? Demo
- 38:28Speaker 1: and Russ Demo. Now, if you're if you're a corner,
- 38:32Speaker 1: you're ever lined up and you see Demo sware in
- 38:35Speaker 1: front of you, just go ahead and getting your back
- 38:37Speaker 1: pedal turn around because he's gonna try to run and value.
- 38:39Speaker 1: That is his mo That's what he does best for
- 38:42Speaker 1: this offense. That's exactly what he does here. I'm looking
- 38:45Speaker 1: at his defense. Looks like a one high defense. Looks
- 38:48Speaker 1: like that corner pretty much has the deep zone over there.
- 38:51Speaker 1: There's nothing else threatening his zone, and he just gets
- 38:55Speaker 1: he gets caught up in the mix. Demo does a
- 38:56Speaker 1: great job of getting on his toes getting outside lying
- 39:00Speaker 1: space on the sideline for Russell to make that throw,
- 39:03Speaker 1: and then it's just body control. That's how why I
- 39:05Speaker 1: judge how athletic dudes are, Like, how can you control
- 39:08Speaker 1: your body when it's in the air. How do you
- 39:10Speaker 1: control your body when you're running your route? Demo jumps up,
- 39:13Speaker 1: grabs it, looks down at his feet, does the dead legs,
- 39:17Speaker 1: gets in the end zone. His body control is ridiculous.
- 39:20Speaker 1: He's just an incredible athlete, man. I mean the balls
- 39:22Speaker 1: in the air, dust runs right by the dB and
- 39:24Speaker 1: he's just aware of where he's out on the field.
- 39:26Speaker 1: That's two weeks in a row where he's been aware
- 39:29Speaker 1: of where that pylon is and somehow finds a way
- 39:31Speaker 1: to get both feet down. But honestly, we gotta give
- 39:34Speaker 1: a lot of crescent credit to Russell Wilson on this
- 39:36Speaker 1: drive first fall, because this is a drive in the
- 39:38Speaker 1: game or his headset communication, so he's the offensive coordinator,
- 39:41Speaker 1: leads them on a great seventy five yard drive, gets
- 39:44Speaker 1: down here and then Miami, you look at his play.
- 39:46Speaker 1: They are not prepared to play football. There's a late substitution.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You have a guy running in, you have three four
- 39:52Speaker 1: guys not in their stance. The dB is demo starts
- 39:55Speaker 1: his route is flat footed, actually taking a step forward.
- 39:58Speaker 1: But all were ready to go, which is you just
- 40:00Speaker 1: said a demo is gonna run right by you. So
- 40:03Speaker 1: I mean they were dead and dead in the water
- 40:05Speaker 1: to start this. And then once he did get a
- 40:06Speaker 1: news back pedal, he was trailing. He doesn't his zone turns,
- 40:11Speaker 1: so they're in a three deep zone. But at that
- 40:13Speaker 1: point he needed to turn and run and give himself
- 40:15Speaker 1: a chance because he opens up and then it's it's
- 40:17Speaker 1: all she wrote. That's such a veteran right there. Russell
- 40:20Speaker 1: just kept it going. Saw the personnel. Let's try to
- 40:23Speaker 1: keep these guys on the field. If they want a substitute,
- 40:25Speaker 1: good for them. We're gonna catch him slipping. Russell did
- 40:28Speaker 1: his thing here, So Nasa Cholby, the greatest formation in
- 40:32Speaker 1: football is what victory formation. Let's go. Here comes the
- 40:38Speaker 1: Seahawk offense onto the field and the Vikings defense trutching
- 40:41Speaker 1: out there knowing that one kneel down and the Seahawks
- 40:46Speaker 1: are gonna wind the clock down and win this one.
- 40:49Speaker 1: It's the victory formation. On Hawk Talk, four weeks in
- 40:54Speaker 1: a row, we get into the victory formation. Hopefully we
- 40:57Speaker 1: make it five, but let's focus on the four. The
- 40:59Speaker 1: Hawks are now fifty nine and oh when leading by
- 41:01Speaker 1: four or more at halftime. This is nuts to me.
- 41:06Speaker 1: I would like to I'd like to know if there's
- 41:07Speaker 1: any other team in the NFL that has a similar
- 41:11Speaker 1: stat when it comes to this soul whenever up four,
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, let's get ready for the Pete
- 41:15Speaker 1: Carroll interview. I'm gonna start typing questions down now. Because
- 41:18Speaker 1: it's a rat baby. That is still every time we
- 41:22Speaker 1: see it, because we talk about it. It's on our
- 41:23Speaker 1: notes every single week. We're looking forward right before halftime.
- 41:26Speaker 1: We're up forward, we're not at four. That is one
- 41:28Speaker 1: of the craziest stats in the NFL. That's a one
- 41:30Speaker 1: score game in fifty nine times you wild to be
- 41:34Speaker 1: undefeated in That is one of the craziest stats in sports.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Straight up, another way, we get into this victory formation.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett will slow down a bit for the first
- 41:42Speaker 1: time this year, but DK picked up the slack at
- 41:45Speaker 1: over one hundred yards. He just keeps performing. He's becoming
- 41:49Speaker 1: more and more reliable. Yep, DK is he's leading the
- 41:52Speaker 1: league in receiving yards, big play every single week. You
- 41:55Speaker 1: almost come to expect it at this point. And as
- 41:58Speaker 1: he continues to do that, the relationship he develop with
- 42:00Speaker 1: Russell Wilson this summer kind of is really just showing up.
- 42:04Speaker 1: It's showing up in every single week, every single game,
- 42:06Speaker 1: like we're seeing at DK, He's definitely turning into that
- 42:09Speaker 1: Pro Bowl type guy. We want to see. Who is
- 42:12Speaker 1: in first place in the toughest division in football thing.
- 42:16Speaker 1: It's a team from Seattle. You know, despite everyone wanting
- 42:18Speaker 1: to complain about how we are winning football games, they
- 42:21Speaker 1: are four and oh straight up there, four and alone
- 42:24Speaker 1: in first place in the best division football bump. It's
- 42:26Speaker 1: pretty good to see. Nice to see them doing their thing. Now.
- 42:30Speaker 1: They continue to win the turnover battle. That's what I
- 42:32Speaker 1: want people to focus on. Don't focus on the yard
- 42:34Speaker 1: it's given up. Don't focus on the score. They are
- 42:38Speaker 1: causing turnovers, like I said earlier. If they can do
- 42:41Speaker 1: that despite how many yards they give up, if they
- 42:43Speaker 1: can continue to turn the ball over, the team who
- 42:46Speaker 1: wins the turnover battle usually wins the football game. Oh. Absolutely,
- 42:50Speaker 1: turnover a huge thing. All Pete Carroll does to preach,
- 42:52Speaker 1: it's all about the football, and despite some of the
- 42:54Speaker 1: yards we're given up, it's still all about the ball.
- 42:56Speaker 1: We're not turning the ball over and defense is starting
- 42:59Speaker 1: final way create turnovers. Yep, and the run game got going.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Chris Carson eighty yards off of it looked like a
- 43:06Speaker 1: horrible injury, shows no signs of slowing down thirty two.
- 43:11Speaker 1: What a dude, he's getting done. Carson is a bad,
- 43:14Speaker 1: bad man. And of course we got to give a
- 43:16Speaker 1: shout out to Ryan Neil for balling out in his
- 43:18Speaker 1: first NFL start. Big Hits was active in the run game,
- 43:22Speaker 1: got his run fits an interception, so that was great
- 43:25Speaker 1: to see from him. And got to remind you, guys,
- 43:28Speaker 1: Pete Carroll Show Kyro Radio in seventeen ESPN You're home
- 43:31Speaker 1: for the Seattle Seahawks and the Pete Carroll Show. Here
- 43:34Speaker 1: the Seahawks head coach on KIRO Radio on Blue Fridays
- 43:37Speaker 1: at eight fifteen and twelve fifteen, and don't miss the
- 43:39Speaker 1: Pete Carroll Show on seven ten ESPN Seattle at nine
- 43:42Speaker 1: thirty every morning after the game with Danny and Gallant
- 43:45Speaker 1: and my guy Michael Bumps. Hopefully we're talking about five
- 43:49Speaker 1: and oh with Pete Carroll next week. But they're falling
- 43:52Speaker 1: all right now. It's been real. I'm Michael Bumps, He's
- 43:55Speaker 1: NASA Chelby. Big upsa Ray Robins for joining us for
- 43:58Speaker 1: the Hawk Talk recap. These guys are four, though, winning
- 44:01Speaker 1: down to Florida beat the Dolphins thirty one twenty three.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Next up, they got the Vikings. We'll hall light you
- 44:06Speaker 1: guys soon. Thanks for listening.
