- 0:34Thanks so much for being here with me.
- 0:36This is Saturday.
- 0:38It's March 14, 2026.
- 0:40And what Saturday means to us is it
- 0:43actually means that we're starting a brand new
- 0:46master topic.
- 0:47So that's what Saturday means.
- 0:48Saturday is the beginning of our week.
- 0:50Most people's weeks begin on Monday, but ours
- 0:53begin on Saturday and end on Friday.
- 0:57All right, guys, it is so wonderful to
- 1:00be here with everybody.
- 1:03So without any further ado, I want to
- 1:05take the opportunity to say thank you.
- 1:07And of course, I want to say the
- 1:09words, welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 1:11You've been here many times before, or if
- 1:14this is your very first time, of course,
- 1:16welcome.
- 1:16If you've been here before, of course, I
- 1:18want to say welcome back.

- 1:32are you waiting for?
- 1:32Go check that out.
- 1:33That is after the show is over, not
- 1:36now, but after the show is over.
- 1:39So you can check that out.
- 1:40And I think you will really find that
- 1:43to be amazing, short-form content, long-form
- 1:45content, and yeah, reels, articles, and so much
- 1:50more.
- 1:52So if you're thirsty, feel free to go
- 1:53grab yourself something.
- 1:54If not, that's fine, too.
- 1:58Maybe you want a snack.
- 1:59That could be what you want, right?
- 2:03So I think a lot of people today
- 2:06don't realize sometimes what happens or how we
- 2:12can make things bigger, how we can make
- 2:14things better in our lives.
- 2:17And I know a lot of you are
- 2:18saying to me, hey, John, I get it,
- 2:21but for some reason, this doesn't make sense
- 2:23or whatever, right?
- 2:25So we're going to go through some things
- 2:26tonight.
- 2:27This is a great show.
- 2:29So without any further ado, guys, I'm going
- 2:31to go ahead and kick this show off.
- 2:34Are you ready?
- 2:35I know that I am.
- 2:37All right, everyone.
- 2:38So welcome to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 2:41I'm John Seymour, a serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing
- 2:44specialist, video producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker,
- 2:49graduate student, and a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:53Yes, and pretty soon a published author.
- 2:57This week, I'm talking all about something very
- 3:01interesting, the master topic of seeing clearly.
- 3:05And we're not just talking about our eyes,
- 3:08although that's what most people think it is.
- 3:09There's more to seeing clearly to a situation.
- 3:14When your vision sharpens, your decisions improve.
- 3:17When your awareness grows, your direction becomes stronger.
- 3:22And when you learn to look deeper, you
- 3:26begin to understand things that others, well, completely
- 3:31miss.
- 3:32Many people move through life reacting to what
- 3:36they see on the surface.
- 3:38They judge quickly.
- 3:39They assume quickly.
- 3:40They decide quickly.
- 3:42They decide wrong.
- 3:44But surface level thinking often leads to surface
- 3:49level results.
- 3:50So strong lives are built differently.
- 3:53They're built when awareness replaces assumption.
- 3:59Now we've talked about the word awareness before.
- 4:02This is not our very first time mentioning
- 4:04the word awareness.
- 4:06But I think awareness can be something that
- 4:11gets us to be where we want to
- 4:14be, right?
- 4:16I think that's a very important thing to
- 4:19understand.
- 4:20And I know a lot of you out
- 4:22there are saying to me, hey, John, like,
- 4:24I don't get this.
- 4:25I don't get that.
- 4:27And so an awareness is a quiet understanding
- 4:33of where you are and where you're going.
- 4:36Now, the awareness and the assumption that I'm
- 4:43talking about is built when patience replaces impulse.
- 4:49You know, when you go to the store
- 4:50and there's that rack and you want to
- 4:53buy everything on it at the register, it's
- 4:55that impulse, right?
- 4:56And the thing about it is they are
- 5:00built when intentional choices replace drifting through life.
- 5:04And when we replace the drifting, we become
- 5:07a better version of ourself.
- 5:09So today's episode talks about some very interesting
- 5:15things.
- 5:16Because one of the greatest life skills you
- 5:19can develop is the ability to see deeper
- 5:21when you want to be more immediately connected
- 5:27to what's visible.
- 5:28So let's drive right into the topics, all
- 5:31right?
- 5:31Number one, appearances rarely reveal the truth.
- 5:36You've heard the old saying, you can't judge
- 5:39a book by its cover and those that
- 5:41do are doomed for failure.
- 5:46I think truth lights people's eyes up, but
- 5:52what truth doesn't do is it doesn't always
- 5:55give you an immediate answer.
- 5:57It sometimes gives you more questions.
- 5:59Now, what you see first is rarely the
- 6:03entire picture, people, opportunities and situations almost always
- 6:09have more depth than what appears on the
- 6:14surface, right?
- 6:16You might've also heard the phrase before when
- 6:19we say, you know, we're just seeing the
- 6:21tip of the iceberg.
- 6:23We're seeing the entire thing that actually goes
- 6:25down below and we're seeing just the top,
- 6:30all right?
- 6:31Just the top.
- 6:32Number two, guys, real strength is often quiet.
- 6:36It's often quiet.
- 6:38The strongest people rarely need to prove themselves.
- 6:43They move in a calm confidence way because
- 6:47their strength is internal and that internal strength
- 6:51is not only their guidance, but it is
- 6:56their way of life.
- 6:58Number three, guys, character matters more than image.
- 7:04So image is important, guys.
- 7:05Don't get me wrong, but your character is
- 7:09important, who you are.
- 7:11Image can attract an attention, okay?
- 7:16Character has the ability to earn respect for
- 7:19it.
- 7:20Over time, character always wins.
- 7:24And your character is what you do when
- 7:28people around and when people are not around.
- 7:31So what people do when they see you
- 7:32and people do when they can't see you,
- 7:34I think that's a very important thing.
- 7:37And so these are real keen things, guys.
- 7:42Number four, true potential is not always obvious.
- 7:46It's not always obvious.
- 7:49So the most capable people are overlooked simply
- 7:52because they're not trying to impress anyone.
- 7:56They're not trying.
- 8:00And they're oftentimes the most interesting.
- 8:02Number five, depth beats surface every time.
- 8:07When we can go below the tip of
- 8:11the iceberg and we can get to the
- 8:12depth of the iceberg, or we can get
- 8:16to the depth of the challenge or the
- 8:19relationship or the person, that's what's exciting.
- 8:22Quick impressions might feel convenient, but true depth
- 8:29creates real understanding.
- 8:32You know, people that are sincere will stay
- 8:37when there's depth.
- 8:39It'll attract them.
- 8:40Number four, people that are superficial will run
- 8:46for the hills when depth tries to share
- 8:52its head.
- 8:54Number six, guys, inner strength shapes outer results.
- 9:00So your mindset, discipline, and your resilience determine
- 9:07the outcomes you create.
- 9:11Real value often, number seven, grows unseen.
- 9:17And growth is usually quiet before it becomes
- 9:19visible.
- 9:22No one pays attention to growth when it's
- 9:27quiet.
- 9:27But it's that quietness that gets at its
- 9:33edge, that gets at the ability to have
- 9:37altitude and take off.
- 9:39Success often begins long before anyone notices it.
- 9:44And that's not a bad thing.
- 9:46People all come around when there's something to
- 9:50notice, but the real treasure has happened days,
- 9:56weeks, months, or maybe years before.
- 9:59Number eight, guys, substance outlasts style.
- 10:03Style is pretty cool.
- 10:04Style may capture someone's attention for a brief
- 10:08moment, but substance builds lasting influence.
- 10:14Substance.
- 10:15Substance is based on truth.
- 10:18Hmm, that's interesting.
- 10:20So quiet effort builds lasting impact, guys.
- 10:25Quiet effort builds lasting impact.
- 10:28Not the noisy effort, not the kind where
- 10:32you have to let everybody know what you're
- 10:33doing.
- 10:34And the work you do consistently, even when
- 10:37nobody is watching, is the work that builds
- 10:41your future.
- 10:43It's what builds legacies.
- 10:46It's what builds epiphanies.
- 10:49It's what builds your miracles.
- 10:52Number 10, guys, what matters most is often
- 10:57invisible.
- 11:00What's that, John?
- 11:02Integrity, discipline, vision, resilience.
- 11:09Integrity, discipline, vision, resilience, integrity, discipline, vision, and
- 11:17resilience.
- 11:18These four qualities shape lives, yet they cannot
- 11:24always be seen immediately, but they're quietly being
- 11:32molded and forming in the background while no
- 11:35one else is watching or noticing.
- 11:38Number 11, guys, strong character develops over time.
- 11:42Don't try to rush your character overnight.
- 11:45Character is built through choices repeated day after
- 11:49day.
- 11:50The choices that you make define the character
- 11:56you are and who you're becoming.
- 12:00Those are powerful words, guys.
- 12:03Number 12, people are deeper than their labels.
- 12:08Labels don't really matter, but sometimes people give
- 12:12others labels.
- 12:13Sometimes people live up to a label, and
- 12:17that label might actually be diminishing their character.
- 12:21Never reduce someone to a single label or
- 12:24an assumption.
- 12:26Not only is it a bad thing to
- 12:28do when it's rude, but it also might
- 12:30stifle that person and get them to be
- 12:36limited to just that.
- 12:40Every person carries experience, potential, and perspective.
- 12:47Every person's a human being.
- 12:51We should treat others the way we want
- 12:52to be treated, the golden rule, right?
- 12:56Number 13, guys, hidden preparation creates visible success.
- 13:03Wow, guys, these are very, very powerful tonight,
- 13:06aren't they?
- 13:07These are very powerful.
- 13:10When success finally appears, people often call it
- 13:14luck.
- 13:16In reality, it is preparation meeting opportunity.
- 13:23How long do I have to prepare?
- 13:26What I want to say to you is
- 13:27don't think about how long you have to
- 13:30prepare.
- 13:31Just think about being consistent until preparing just
- 13:35becomes autonomous.
- 13:40Number 14, guys, the obvious choice is not
- 13:45always the right one.
- 13:47I've said something to you before many times,
- 13:49just because we can doesn't mean we should.
- 13:55Sometimes the path that looks easiest leads to
- 14:00the weakest outcome, and that could be sad
- 14:06for people, very sad.
- 14:10Number 15, guys, real influence begins within you,
- 14:16within your core.
- 14:19Before you influence the world, you must first
- 14:23lead yourself.
- 14:25If you cannot lead yourself in your life,
- 14:28how are you ever going to influence other
- 14:30people?
- 14:33Number 16, surface impressions can mislead, right?
- 14:41That quick assumption of, you know, don't judge
- 14:44a book by its cover.
- 14:46Quick judgments can cause us to overlook talent,
- 14:51ideas, and opportunities.
- 14:56Sometimes we're quick because another person says, oh,
- 15:00we don't have the time.
- 15:01What I found that when people do that,
- 15:05the person has the time, but the person
- 15:08that wants them to move ahead doesn't.
- 15:11And that's not fair to the other person.
- 15:16Number 17, guys, depth creates durability, DCD.
- 15:23Shallow foundations collapse under pressure.
- 15:27I don't care whether we're talking about a
- 15:29house that's not built with the right structure
- 15:31or building or a relationship that's built on
- 15:37a facade.
- 15:39Strong foundations survive the storms.
- 15:43If you're becoming friends with somebody because of
- 15:45what they can do for you and there
- 15:48isn't a true bond, that friendship's going to
- 15:52fizzle once it's evident that there is no
- 16:00commonality.
- 16:03Number 18, guys, true strength requires patience.
- 16:12Patience is not an easy thing to have
- 16:18or to expect from others, especially when a
- 16:21lot of you are anxious for success or
- 16:23anxious for an outcome.
- 16:26But again, true strength requires patience.
- 16:32Things will happen in good time, divine timing,
- 16:36right?
- 16:36That's a popular one we hear from our
- 16:38creator.
- 16:39Patience is not weakness, guys.
- 16:41It is a controlled strength that we need
- 16:44to learn how to deal with.
- 16:49The quicker that we develop patience, the better
- 16:53we are.
- 16:53But I don't say you have to do
- 16:54it quickly.
- 16:55I just mean that if you don't take
- 16:57it seriously, you're going to take forever and
- 16:59you're going to get disappointed because you haven't
- 17:01developed patience.
- 17:02Don't rush developing patience.
- 17:04But the quicker that you are able to
- 17:06do it in a slow manner, the better
- 17:10your life will be.
- 17:12Number 19, guys, integrity becomes visible through actions.
- 17:18Integrity becomes visible through actions.
- 17:20Integrity becomes visible through actions.
- 17:23Integrity is not what people claim.
- 17:26It is what their actions reveal.
- 17:29You're not who you say you are.
- 17:32You are who your actions are listening to
- 17:37be.
- 17:41One of the things I said a long
- 17:43time ago is when we talk about what
- 17:46we say, how we say it, and what
- 17:49we don't say.
- 17:50The most important thing in life comes from
- 17:52what we don't say, our actions.
- 17:54The next most important thing is how we
- 17:56say something.
- 17:57And the third thing is what we say.
- 17:59So what we say is not the most
- 18:02important thing, guys.
- 18:04Nope.
- 18:05It's not the most important.
- 18:14Interesting.
- 18:14Number 20, guys, hidden growth builds strong futures.
- 18:22Hidden growth builds strong futures.
- 18:31The improvements you make quietly today build the
- 18:36opportunities you experience tomorrow.
- 18:43They get you to experience greatness.
- 18:46They get you to experience the miracles in
- 18:48your life that you want to happen.
- 18:52Miracles aren't magic.
- 18:54They happen by strategic planning.
- 18:58They happen by our persistence, our consistency, our
- 19:03dedication, our integrity.
- 19:09Number 21, guys.
- 19:12Real leaders, they grow quietly first.
- 19:14Remember, leaders are not born.
- 19:17They are made.
- 19:19Leadership begins internally with discipline, responsibility, and awareness.
- 19:27Where did I learn to become a leader
- 19:29first?
- 19:30Scouting.
- 19:32When I was at scouting, it was just
- 19:33the Boy Scouts.
- 19:36Now, because of, well, legal paperwork, they had
- 19:43to allow everyone into scouting.
- 19:49But the Boy Scouts, when I was involved,
- 19:56was about teaching a guy to develop the
- 20:05faculties in his mind and in his body
- 20:09to be well-rounded.
- 20:13When you hear today he's an Eagle Scout,
- 20:20that's so amazingly good to hear.
- 20:31But there are not hundreds of Eagle Scouts
- 20:34coming out every day.
- 20:34Being an Eagle Scout is not easy.
- 20:38But when you become an Eagle, you're a
- 20:41well-rounded person.
- 20:45You learn things such as humanities.
- 20:50You learn the different badges, like citizenship.
- 20:58You learn a lot of things in scouting,
- 21:01archery, shooting.
- 21:06You become well-rounded.
- 21:07You learn how to whittle with your knife.
- 21:10I remember the very first time that I
- 21:13wanted to whittle, I was told I couldn't.
- 21:16I said, what do you mean I can't?
- 21:17I said, I got this as a birthday
- 21:19gift.
- 21:20You can't whittle.
- 21:21Why not?
- 21:23So I was making a joke.
- 21:24I said, not even a whittle?
- 21:26Little?
- 21:27Whittle?
- 21:27Not even a whittle?
- 21:28No.
- 21:30They said, no, you don't have a totenship
- 21:32card.
- 21:33I said, I have a citizenship card.
- 21:34No, you don't have a totenship card.
- 21:36You have to go through a class.
- 21:39And that requires proper use of the knife,
- 21:45proper use of an ax.
- 21:49It's about safety.
- 21:51You might have learned many years ago that
- 21:53before you could transport a pair of scissors,
- 21:56somebody showed you the proper way to carry
- 22:01scissors.
- 22:04You never carry scissors with the point out.
- 22:07You carry them so the point is in,
- 22:10and you're walking like this with the scissors
- 22:12in your hand.
- 22:16So if you don't use a knife or
- 22:19an ax properly, you get a point taken
- 22:26off your card.
- 22:29And you also have to learn how to
- 22:30manage fire and firearms, like fires.
- 22:35Not so much guns, but like a fire,
- 22:37making a fire, et cetera.
- 22:39So if you did something wrong, they chipped
- 22:40one corner off your card.
- 22:42If you lost all four corners, you had
- 22:46to forfeit your totenship card.
- 22:48And luckily, I never lost my card.
- 22:52And I never lost a point on my
- 22:53card.
- 22:54I took totenship very seriously for me and
- 22:59for the other scouts.
- 23:02Responsibility, awareness, discipline, that's what scouting does.
- 23:08And of course, leadership, to pass it on
- 23:11to others.
- 23:12Number 22, guys, what develops slowly often lasts
- 23:16longer.
- 23:18Fast results may feel exciting at the moment,
- 23:21but slow growth often builds, guys, the strongest
- 23:26foundations possible.
- 23:30Think about plaster of Paris, right?
- 23:33If you don't let plaster of Paris settle
- 23:35and set for too long, it doesn't get
- 23:39fully hard, right?
- 23:42If you don't let glue dry properly, even
- 23:44these different types of glue that are like
- 23:47crazy glue, crazy glue lost their patents.
- 23:49And now I think there's a new one
- 23:50called Gorilla Glue.
- 23:51If you don't let them set even the
- 23:53short amount of time, then they're not going
- 23:55to work.
- 23:56Number 23, guys, look deeper before deciding.
- 24:01The more carefully you observe, the better your
- 24:05decisions will become.
- 24:10Number 24, lasting strength grows internally.
- 24:16Confidence that depends on outside validation, it's fragile.
- 24:22Real confidence comes from within you.
- 24:29Number 25, quick judgments cause us to miss
- 24:33the deeper truth.
- 24:35The fastest decision is not always the smartest
- 24:37decision, even though people make the fast ones
- 24:40all the time.
- 24:43Number 26, guys, hidden excellence deserves recognition.
- 24:51Many people doing extraordinary work remain unnoticed simply
- 24:55because they are focused on the work itself.
- 24:59They're not focused on the value, on the
- 25:01integrity, on the quality or the responsibility they
- 25:06need to have while doing that work.
- 25:11Number 27, character builds confidence.
- 25:16Character also builds your leadership.
- 25:19Confidence that comes from discipline and integrity cannot
- 25:22easily be shaken.
- 25:23No one can take that from you.
- 25:26You don't become a leader because of people
- 25:30patting you on the back.
- 25:32You become a leader by learning what works
- 25:36and what doesn't and how the other people
- 25:39respond.
- 25:39But it's not by giving you a pat
- 25:41on your back.
- 25:42It's by you recognizing how your awareness, how
- 25:46your discipline, how your skills like listening and
- 25:55communication can transform another person's life.
- 25:59Number 28, guys, quiet discipline creates the power.
- 26:05Not the guy with the big megaphone, right?
- 26:07That's not leadership.
- 26:10I'm not saying leaders don't use a megaphone,
- 26:12but that megaphone does not make a person
- 26:15a leader.
- 26:16If you do, you don't understand the definition
- 26:19of leadership.
- 26:21The habits you repeat daily become the foundation
- 26:24of your strength.
- 26:28Number 29, guys, inner strength guides decisions in
- 26:33our lives.
- 26:34When you value and you see the core
- 26:37values are clear, the decisions you make will
- 26:41become easier.
- 26:43They'll become like pattern recognition.
- 26:50Number 30, guys, learn to see beyond the
- 26:55surface.
- 26:59This may be one of the most valuable
