- 1:41Speaker 3: the name of Millard Fillmore.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Today.
- 1:43Speaker 3: What a weekend. It was heavy rain, snow, flooding watermains
- 1:46Speaker 3: in downtown Charleston. Now we get ready for another winter store,
- 1:50Speaker 3: but we got to get through this one first. And
- 1:51Speaker 3: I think the weather people, with all due respect, might
- 1:54Speaker 3: have got this one a little bit wrong this morning,
- 1:56Speaker 3: because it's it's a lot worse than Charleston now than
- 1:58Speaker 3: what it was like two hours ago. And so if
- 2:01Speaker 3: you are traveling, please use caution roads or slick even
- 2:05Speaker 3: the you know, the interstates, downtown streets, and it's it's
- 2:07Speaker 3: still pouring right now in downtown Charleston. So that's that's
- 2:12Speaker 3: how that goes. So some good news. It is entrepreneurship
- 2:16Speaker 3: Entrepreneurship Week, easy for me to say in West Virginia
- 2:19Speaker 3: Secretary is SAI. Chris Warner is going to join us
- 2:20Speaker 3: to talk about that a little bit later on. Plus.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Last week we spent some little time talking about this
- 2:25Speaker 3: on the show. Has to do with the Trump administration.
- 2:28Speaker 3: The Trump administration banned, at least from one event, members
- 2:32Speaker 3: of the Associated Press because they would not go along
- 2:35Speaker 3: with calling the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
- 2:38Speaker 3: One guy who knows a lot about it is in
- 2:41Speaker 3: the media and services an agent of sorts. So a
- 2:44Speaker 3: lot of folks in the media and my my quasi
- 2:46Speaker 3: agent as well, Burke Allen of Valamedia Strategies. He's in
- 2:49Speaker 3: the nation's capital. He's going to join us to talk
- 2:51Speaker 3: about that a little bit later on. Plus again, some
- 2:54Speaker 3: good news. I'm thinking about the beach. The Marshall Quarterback
- 2:58Speaker 3: Club with Charleston is getting ready for their beach party
- 3:01Speaker 3: coming up March first and Embassy Suitets. Robert stone Street
- 3:04Speaker 3: from the organization is going to join us to talk
- 3:06Speaker 3: about that. Let's go now, though, to Mayor Amy Schulder,
- 3:09Speaker 3: Good one, Mayor, good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Thank you for being here, and I won't keep you
- 3:15Speaker 3: any long because I know you're very, very busy. First
- 3:17Speaker 3: of all, I know your thoughts and prayers with everyone
- 3:20Speaker 3: in southern West Virginia. This morning, we had some flooding
- 3:23Speaker 3: in and around the Charleston here. Of course, the Canal
- 3:25Speaker 3: River had ed, Riverfront Park, Magic Island flooding reported as
- 3:28Speaker 3: well in North Charleston. Before we get to that, tell
- 3:33Speaker 3: us what was up with the Gulf of Charleston that
- 3:35Speaker 3: developed yesterday afternoon.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Yeah right, well, let me echo your thoughts and prayers
- 3:41Speaker 5: as well. And I mean it. I mean having been
- 3:44Speaker 5: in southern West Virginia during some of our most devastating floods,
- 3:49Speaker 5: just like you, I worked underneath some gold Dome for
- 3:52Speaker 5: a long period of my career with Bob Wives and
- 3:56Speaker 5: Governor Wise and Governor Tomlin. So the twenty twenty one
- 4:01Speaker 5: or two thousand and one, two thousand and three, twenty
- 4:04Speaker 5: and sixteen, some of the most devastating floods that we
- 4:08Speaker 5: have seen. It's hard, it's hard to look back at
- 4:11Speaker 5: those photos. It's hard to look to see what our
- 4:14Speaker 5: neighbors are doing now. As a matter of fact, we
- 4:17Speaker 5: sent out a crew. I don't know if most folks
- 4:20Speaker 5: know this, but we have an exceptionally exceptionally and good
- 4:24Speaker 5: for US swift water rescue teams. We sent eight of
- 4:27Speaker 5: our swift water rescue folks to princes In to rescue
- 4:30Speaker 5: fourteen folks from a mobile home trailer park neighborhood there
- 4:36Speaker 5: on Saturday. And so with Chief Nicholson there and a
- 4:41Speaker 5: lot of our folks, they just did an amazing, amazing job.
- 4:44Speaker 5: So you know, our eyes are on them and certainly
- 4:48Speaker 5: we have been in contact to see what can we do.
- 4:51Speaker 5: So that's first and foremost and most important. When you
- 4:54Speaker 5: have life issues, those are always priority. So Capitol Street,
- 4:59Speaker 5: let me, let me get back to Capitol Street and
- 5:02Speaker 5: I'll talk about our local issues, some of our local issues.
- 5:04Speaker 5: But Capitol Street. Yesterday there was a what we believe
- 5:07Speaker 5: is to be a water line burst West Virginia American water.
- 5:13Speaker 5: That line burst on Capital Capital and Marshington still don't
- 5:17Speaker 5: know why it bursts, but it was we believe a
- 5:20Speaker 5: twelve inch water main, so that's a lot a lot
- 5:22Speaker 5: of water days and that slopes back downwards towards Capital
- 5:27Speaker 5: so it put more water out than the drains could take. So,
- 5:35Speaker 5: you know, with the snow, Mother nature, she's playing with us.
- 5:38Speaker 5: As you said, she's playing with us again this morning.
- 5:41Speaker 5: So planning of the sidewalks in the streets, yes, it
- 5:45Speaker 5: is important for us to do that. But we have
- 5:48Speaker 5: crews out saulting and scraping right now. You know, yesterday
- 5:54Speaker 5: we had twenty seven crew members out in different parts
- 5:58Speaker 5: of the city just dealing, you know, for everything from
- 6:01Speaker 5: back hose to our great alls. Those are those big
- 6:04Speaker 5: pieces of equipment day that you see if people don't
- 6:06Speaker 5: know what those big arms you know, you know, trying
- 6:09Speaker 5: to capture as much debris and getting them out of
- 6:14Speaker 5: getting the amount of streams and creeks. But you know,
- 6:19Speaker 5: we'll get to Capitol Street tonight. We have two folks
- 6:22Speaker 5: that are coming in, so you know, when you get
- 6:24Speaker 5: home tonight, stay home. We'd like to get some of
- 6:27Speaker 5: this done. Hopefully the snow will be melted off. Uh,
- 6:30Speaker 5: so you'll see and hear those folks doing that. Tonight
- 6:35Speaker 5: and our storm debris will continue to clean up. We
- 6:39Speaker 5: had some issues on Hannah Drive and Sugar Creek, Grant,
- 6:43Speaker 5: Sixth Avenue, Vine Elm, you know, places in which we
- 6:46Speaker 5: normally get flooding and some power outages. Not as massive
- 6:52Speaker 5: again as our neighboring neighboring friends, but you know it is.
- 6:58Speaker 5: When my son Joseph was born on the first day
- 7:02Speaker 5: of spring in March, I cannot wait for the first
- 7:05Speaker 5: day of spring to come. Spring does bring rain, though,
- 7:08Speaker 5: I will remind everyone, but it has been a tough,
- 7:11Speaker 5: tough year, and I just I want to say thank
- 7:14Speaker 5: you to a couple of folks. Number one, the media
- 7:17Speaker 5: for keeping everybody alert and factually giving us facts because
- 7:21Speaker 5: that's what we want. Number Two for the folks who
- 7:24Speaker 5: are working these very long and by the way, really
- 7:28Speaker 5: dangerous jobs. It's not just our swift water rescue team.
- 7:32Speaker 5: I have been out many a day in assault truck
- 7:35Speaker 5: teetering on a hillside. It's not pleasant day. It's not
- 7:40Speaker 5: it's not pleasant, and so they're doing it. They do
- 7:43Speaker 5: it with gusto. They take pride in their jobs, and
- 7:45Speaker 5: I promise you they're working as hard and as fast
- 7:48Speaker 5: as they possibly can, so I want to do that.
- 7:52Speaker 5: And then also to the folks who want to help
- 7:55Speaker 5: and want to give. You know, I've already received so
- 7:59Speaker 5: many calls and text this morning.
- 8:00Speaker 6: What do we do to help?
- 8:02Speaker 5: Our friends were on standby with our teams and our equipment.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Obviously we're ready to jump in and help. But if
- 8:09Speaker 5: you'd like to jump in and help. I always tell
- 8:11Speaker 5: people my good friend and your good friend Dave Margaret
- 8:15Speaker 5: O'Neill with United Way, Boy, you can't go wrong helping
- 8:20Speaker 5: them and giving to them, or of course Red Cross
- 8:22Speaker 5: of West Virginia, David all right, so.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Then you're absolutely right about that. We're talking to me,
- 8:27Speaker 3: Amy Goodwin. What about the with and I know the
- 8:30Speaker 3: investigation or you know you're looking into the reason for
- 8:33Speaker 3: the water main break in Charleston yesterday we all saw
- 8:35Speaker 3: that video County Commissioner Ben Selango. You know, it's kind
- 8:38Speaker 3: of gone viral with his video that he did yesterday.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I shared it on my page as well as did
- 8:43Speaker 3: like ten thousand other people. What about damage just to
- 8:46Speaker 3: the businesses that were affected by that?
- 8:48Speaker 4: Is it?
- 8:48Speaker 3: Do we know what kind of damage is that those
- 8:50Speaker 3: businesses incurage? If any Yeah, I think.
- 8:53Speaker 5: It's too early to tell. I mean, we're getting some
- 8:55Speaker 5: reports in as you would as you would imagine none
- 8:58Speaker 5: at all, and some in the basements, and some who
- 9:02Speaker 5: have reached their front doorsteps. So those assessments are ongoing,
- 9:06Speaker 5: and certainly we're going to be keeping a close eye
- 9:09Speaker 5: on that as well, and going to be doing a
- 9:12Speaker 5: full debrief and an assessment of what happened, how we
- 9:16Speaker 5: can make sure that things like this don't happen again,
- 9:20Speaker 5: and certainly our cooperation as well with our utilities. I
- 9:24Speaker 5: will say this about our guys and gals who work
- 9:27Speaker 5: for the city. We sprung into action and certainly did
- 9:31Speaker 5: a great job communicating and being there for everyone.
- 9:34Speaker 6: Look did our job.
- 9:35Speaker 5: You pay us to do that, to be there as
- 9:39Speaker 5: quickly and as safely as we possibly can.
- 9:41Speaker 6: But those.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Assessments will be ongoing, all right.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Mayor appreciate it, get back after it, Go get a
- 9:47Speaker 3: shovel and we'll talk again soon.
- 9:49Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, Dave, Thank you, appreciate y'all.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Ch Alston Mayor Amy Goodwin to day onland showing five
- 9:54Speaker 3: ADI Life is brought to you part by Bridge Valley.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Their Win Academy can provide free college credit to nursing
- 9:59Speaker 3: and advanced manufacturing to students while they're still in high
- 10:01Speaker 3: schools at Bridge Valley dot E du slash Win Academy
- 10:04Speaker 3: for more information. All right, let's have a little good
- 10:07Speaker 3: news here from A big event is going to be
- 10:08Speaker 3: happening at Embassy Suites and Charleston Saturday night, March first,
- 10:11Speaker 3: and with a winner we've had who couldn't use beach party?
- 10:14Speaker 3: I know I could. The Marshall Quarterback Club at Charleston.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Full disclosure, I remember that find organization. Uh, the club
- 10:20Speaker 3: is going to present a beach Party, an indoor event
- 10:22Speaker 3: at Embassy Suites on March first. Robert stone Street as
- 10:25Speaker 3: the president of the organization. He joins us. Now, I,
- 10:27Speaker 3: oh my goodness. Look who's also here at Steve Animal.
- 10:30Speaker 3: It's Steve Animal from ninety eight to seven of the
- 10:32Speaker 3: Mouth and Steve and I have been chosen to be
- 10:34Speaker 3: MC's for this event. Good morning to you, Roberts, good morning,
- 10:38Speaker 3: and thank you for coming in. And good morning Stephen,
- 10:41Speaker 3: good morning. So glad to be here. I don't I
- 10:45Speaker 3: think I don't know what. I don't know what's wrong
- 10:47Speaker 3: with him.
- 10:47Speaker 7: I'm questioning my decision to j this.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I was gonna say, now we're not Djane, you have
- 10:53Speaker 3: a DJ we're mc Ingyes, it's a big difference, so
- 10:55Speaker 3: that's okay. It's a big price. Yeah, big price difference.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Pretty much. You you know, you give us food and
- 11:00Speaker 3: beer and we're there. That's pretty much all you have
- 11:01Speaker 3: to do for us. So explain what the Marshall Quarterback
- 11:04Speaker 3: Club a Charleston is, Robert Sure.
- 11:06Speaker 7: We're a booster club for the Big Green Scholarship Foundation
- 11:09Speaker 7: and we raise money for the athletic programs at Marshall,
- 11:13Speaker 7: primarily the football program.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Since we're called the Quarterback Club, So this is one.
- 11:17Speaker 7: Of our annual events. We in the past have done
- 11:20Speaker 7: a Valentine's themed event for several years, but we decided
- 11:23Speaker 7: this year we're going to shake it up a little
- 11:25Speaker 7: bit and have a beach party to help welcome our
- 11:28Speaker 7: new head coach, Tony Gibson and his staff to Huntington.
- 11:31Speaker 3: And tickets are available for individuals or couples, or you
- 11:35Speaker 3: want to buy a table for your business, you can
- 11:37Speaker 3: do all that right.
- 11:38Speaker 7: Yes, there are table sponsorships available a start at two
- 11:41Speaker 7: thousand dollars. That gives you ten seats, complimentary beer and wine,
- 11:46Speaker 7: which means all you can stomach for the evening and
- 11:49Speaker 7: individual tickets are available for one hundred and seventy five
- 11:52Speaker 7: dollars each.
- 11:54Speaker 3: And as you said, Marshall football coach Tony Gibson making
- 11:57Speaker 3: a triumphant return to the out in state. He's gonna
- 12:01Speaker 3: be there. It's gonna be a great night.
- 12:02Speaker 7: Yes, you have Boone County native Tony Gibson. We're very
- 12:07Speaker 7: excited to have him here. He'll be at the event,
- 12:09Speaker 7: as will his senior staff.
- 12:12Speaker 3: And animal and I will be serving as the MC.
- 12:15Speaker 3: What kind of fun can we get into? Well, since
- 12:18Speaker 3: they canceled the Valentine's staff, my idea was to have,
- 12:21Speaker 3: you know, Valentine's State massacre.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Nobody liked that.
- 12:23Speaker 3: So we're doing a beach party. I mean, I got it,
- 12:25Speaker 3: and which is fine. No speedos, State, no speedos, damn it, man,
- 12:30Speaker 3: No no speedos. But you know by the fact that
- 12:32Speaker 3: it's going to be a beach party, Robert, it means,
- 12:34Speaker 3: you know, people like to get all dressed up this time.
- 12:36Speaker 3: They don't have to they but they're on their Hawaiian
- 12:38Speaker 3: shirt and go. It is beach attire whatever that means
- 12:41Speaker 3: to you. Not that kind of beach team, and where
- 12:45Speaker 3: can people get tickets and learn more about the event.
- 12:47Speaker 3: I know I've getten up post on my social media,
- 12:49Speaker 3: but where's the best place to get tickets or to
- 12:51Speaker 3: learn more.
- 12:52Speaker 7: The Marshall Quarterback Club has a Facebook page. You can
- 12:55Speaker 7: go there or you can go to herd zone dot
- 12:56Speaker 7: com under tickets there's special events and you can buy
- 12:59Speaker 7: your ticket. It's online there or call the Big Green.
- 13:02Speaker 3: And as far as I mean, you're gonna have drink specials.
- 13:05Speaker 3: You're gonna have beach you know, everything's beach themed.
- 13:07Speaker 7: Right, Everything is beach themed, be a tropical menu. We're
- 13:11Speaker 7: gonna have special boat drinks that come with your with
- 13:15Speaker 7: your tickets, and we'll have Will Almer, former Marshall offensive lineman,
- 13:20Speaker 7: will be there to play the guitar for the crowd,
- 13:25Speaker 7: as well as a professional djail not us, a.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Professional that's going to tackle somebody in the crowd, you know.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And it's there's a lot of excitement surrounding the Marshall
- 13:34Speaker 3: football team this year. There are a lot of new
- 13:37Speaker 3: faces there and again the return of a West Virginia
- 13:39Speaker 3: guide a coach.
- 13:40Speaker 7: Yeah, we're the recruiting class. There's sixty one new players
- 13:43Speaker 7: coming in high ranked number two ranked by rivals and
- 13:47Speaker 7: several West Virginia natives. Koy Fagan the quarterback from Martinsburg.
- 13:52Speaker 7: He is one of the signees for Marshall University and
- 13:55Speaker 7: some other local players as well.
- 13:57Speaker 3: All right, now again, where can people get more information?
- 13:59Speaker 3: And the eight is March first, Saturday night at Embassy Suite.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Come home, come hang out with me and Steve. If
- 14:05Speaker 3: nothing else right, Yes, go to herd zone dot com
- 14:07Speaker 3: to get your tickets. Right and sponsorships are available. So again,
- 14:11Speaker 3: we've got businesses that listen to this show and they're thinking,
- 14:13Speaker 3: you know, I like to do something nice for my employees,
- 14:15Speaker 3: especially with the winter we've had, you know, get them
- 14:18Speaker 3: out of the house and go let them party a
- 14:21Speaker 3: little bit at Embassy Suites with the beach theme. So
- 14:23Speaker 3: and they can just go to that that website or
- 14:26Speaker 3: that you know to to find out more information about
- 14:28Speaker 3: sponsorships too.
- 14:29Speaker 7: Ray, Yes, and want to do another shout out to Astorgato,
- 14:32Speaker 7: who are title sponsor, been a a title sponsor for
- 14:36Speaker 7: several years. We very much appreciate their support.
- 14:39Speaker 3: All Right, and Steve, they're gonna crank us up and
- 14:41Speaker 3: turn us loose man, Bring on the babes and the beer.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Really not a good idea, Robert, this was not a
- 14:49Speaker 3: good I don't know why. It's going to be a
- 14:51Speaker 3: good time. It's always a good charity security, all right,
- 14:54Speaker 3: Steve Animal, Robert stone Street. I appreciate you being here.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Man.
- 14:56Speaker 3: We'll talk about it more as we get a little
- 14:57Speaker 3: bit closer. It's just a couple of weeks away though
- 14:59Speaker 3: actually less than two week less than two weeks away

- 17:48Speaker 4: Then? Uh so?
- 17:50Speaker 3: Yeah, and another tex said, are you going to talk
- 17:52Speaker 3: about the whole thing with Spruce Nobb and Donald Trump? Yeah,
- 17:56Speaker 3: I'm gonna mention something briefly about it. That's that's all
- 17:58Speaker 3: I'll say about that. So last week you heard me
- 18:01Speaker 3: talking about this. You all know by now that President
- 18:04Speaker 3: Trump wants the Golf of Mexico to be known as
- 18:06Speaker 3: the Golf of America. The Associated Press, which is a
- 18:09Speaker 3: nonpartisan basically a collective of several news agencies, have said
- 18:13Speaker 3: they will continue to refer to it as the Golf
- 18:15Speaker 3: of Mexico. This White House, though angered by this, as
- 18:18Speaker 3: banned the Associated Press or AP as we know it
- 18:21Speaker 3: from at least one White House event that I'm aware of,
- 18:24Speaker 3: maybe more, And it sets up, in my eyes a
- 18:27Speaker 3: dangerous president when you start banning news organizations, again, legitimate
- 18:31Speaker 3: news organizations, because you don't like what they are printing
- 18:34Speaker 3: or the way that they choose to cover a story.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Burke Allen of Island Media Strategies, a media company obviously
- 18:41Speaker 3: happens to dabble in a lot of other things, like
- 18:43Speaker 3: advising certain radio talk show hosts in Charleston, West Virginia,
- 18:46Speaker 3: but Burke has seen this happen firsthand. And he's someone
- 18:49Speaker 3: who's company represents a lot of authors, public speakers, etc.
- 18:54Speaker 3: From both sides, all sides of the political spectrum. And
- 18:57Speaker 3: he joins us now from his office in the DC
- 18:59Speaker 3: metro Plex. Burke, good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Hey, good morning. Before we talk about the associated press. Look,
- 19:06Speaker 4: my heart just goes out to the folks in Charleston
- 19:09Speaker 4: after the watermeinon break, but really for the folks in
- 19:11Speaker 4: southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky. And I know you've
- 19:14Speaker 4: got a lot of listeners down that way, So thinking
- 19:16Speaker 4: about all those folks after that flooding over the weekend.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Yeah, our next of the woods are collective because you're
- 19:22Speaker 3: from that way too, you know, Logan, particularly Mingo County,
- 19:25Speaker 3: Wyoming County, McDowell County. This place has just got absolutely
- 19:29Speaker 3: hammered and TJ and Dave we're going to get into
- 19:31Speaker 3: more that coming up next hour on talk Line. So Burke,
- 19:34Speaker 3: most people know you longtime radio fixture in Charleston, Huntington
- 19:38Speaker 3: and radio markets also major other major cities around the country.
- 19:41Speaker 3: You serve as manager and agent for some of West
- 19:43Speaker 3: Virginia is best known loved entertainers from Landau to Homer Hicckham,
- 19:46Speaker 3: the Dream of Denver, and others. But you also serve
- 19:51Speaker 3: a lot of people may not know this, and manage
- 19:53Speaker 3: and serve as a booking agent for a lot of
- 19:55Speaker 3: other folks, from political writers and speakers to military folks,
- 19:58Speaker 3: et cetera, many to them from different political ideologies. And
- 20:03Speaker 3: as someone who resides in the nation's capital, you've seen
- 20:06Speaker 3: a lot of what we're talking about firsthand. When it
- 20:09Speaker 3: termed fake news or fake media is thrown out there,
- 20:12Speaker 3: what do you make of all this?
- 20:14Speaker 4: Well, so like they old outdate myself, the old dragnet
- 20:19Speaker 4: reference just to facts, ma'am. So what I'm going to
- 20:22Speaker 4: talk to you about today has zero political spin. And
- 20:26Speaker 4: I think that there's a lot of misconception about what
- 20:29Speaker 4: the Associated Press really does and what it is. You
- 20:33Speaker 4: mentioned it's collective, So the Associated Press is a nonprofit
- 20:37Speaker 4: and they share information with newspapers, television stations, radio stations,
- 20:43Speaker 4: not only in the US but all over the world.
- 20:46Speaker 4: And if you look at what's called a media bias chart,
- 20:49Speaker 4: which is something that folks in our industry look at
- 20:52Speaker 4: on the regular the Associated Press is right there in
- 20:55Speaker 4: the middle. They don't lean to the left and they
- 20:57Speaker 4: don't lean to the right. And the new administration got
- 21:02Speaker 4: been out of shape about the Gulf of Mexico thing
- 21:06Speaker 4: being renamed the Gulf of America. Well, the Associated Press
- 21:10Speaker 4: has customers as members of that collective from all over
- 21:14Speaker 4: the world, not just in the US. And so what
- 21:16Speaker 4: they've put in their notes in their style guide for
- 21:20Speaker 4: reporters and journalists and TV and radio folks all over
- 21:23Speaker 4: the country is not you know, it's got to be
- 21:26Speaker 4: the Gulf of Mexico. It says it's the Golf of Mexico.
- 21:29Speaker 4: And President Trump has also renamed it the Gulf of America.
- 21:33Speaker 4: So they put that in there primarily because they have
- 21:37Speaker 4: so many folks that utilize the service from outside the
- 21:40Speaker 4: United States of America.
- 21:43Speaker 3: So and I get that, but what and I know that,
- 21:46Speaker 3: as I said, you're somebody that represents people of all
- 21:49Speaker 3: political ideologies. That's why particularly I wanted to have you
- 21:52Speaker 3: on the show. Somebody who's not right or somebody that's
- 21:55Speaker 3: not left. You have them from all sides. Well as
- 21:57Speaker 3: a media guy or maybe this is an outside are
- 22:00Speaker 3: possibly looking in. You're not an outsider, but let's just say,
- 22:03Speaker 3: for you know, for instance, you are what is the
- 22:05Speaker 3: end game here? I mean, are reporters only going to
- 22:08Speaker 3: be permitted access to this White House if they go
- 22:10Speaker 3: along with whatever the president says?
- 22:13Speaker 4: Well, you know, it's impossible to know what's inside the
- 22:17Speaker 4: heads of the President and the folks that advise him,
- 22:22Speaker 4: but I will tell you that you know, within the
- 22:25Speaker 4: media landscape here in Washington, d C. That you know,
- 22:29Speaker 4: words like absurd ban against the Associated Press are being
- 22:33Speaker 4: thrown around an awful lot, and even within the conservative media,
- 22:38Speaker 4: there are very few folks that are standing up and
- 22:42Speaker 4: defending the White House's decision. I saw a piece that
- 22:45Speaker 4: was favorable to them in the National Review, which is
- 22:48Speaker 4: a conservative website, but even in that opinion piece, you know,
- 22:53Speaker 4: they talked about this being a bullying tactic and an
- 22:57Speaker 4: attack on the First Amendments. So it is, it is
- 23:00Speaker 4: pretty frowned upon. And here's one of the reasons why,
- 23:03Speaker 4: Dave so they have what's called a White House pool reporter.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Whenever there's not enough space or for logistical reasons, you
- 23:13Speaker 4: can't get a whole lot of people in to cover something.
- 23:16Speaker 4: And the Associated Press pool reporter has been around since
- 23:20Speaker 4: the Garfield administration in the eighteen eighties and they distribute
- 23:25Speaker 4: information out to the other hundreds or sometimes thousands of
- 23:29Speaker 4: media outlets. And you know the reason that the Associated
- 23:33Speaker 4: Press out of be in their is because they are
- 23:34Speaker 4: very much down the middle. They're very centrist. So when
- 23:38Speaker 4: they lose that seat, it's a slippery slope.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Agree. We're talking to Burke Allen of Aland Media Strategies
- 23:44Speaker 3: for Dave Island, showing five any line brought to you
- 23:46Speaker 3: in part by Pinnacle Consultants. Poor indoor air quality can
- 23:49Speaker 3: cause a variety of health issues. Pinnacle offers specialized indoor
- 23:52Speaker 3: air quality services for residential, commercial, and industrial type settings.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Visit Pinnacle court dot net because what you don't know
- 23:58Speaker 3: can hurt you. Let me be clear on the to bar.
- 24:00Speaker 3: You know, I'm one hundred percent against anyone stifling free
- 24:04Speaker 3: speech no matter what they believe. And when certain platforms,
- 24:07Speaker 3: and I'll go to this, when certain platforms didn't want
- 24:10Speaker 3: to allow different thoughts or beliefs on let's say COVID,
- 24:13Speaker 3: let's go by twenty twenty twenty twenty one, I was
- 24:17Speaker 3: against that too. And so I'm saying that to say
- 24:21Speaker 3: this isn't exclusive to the Trump White House. It could
- 24:24Speaker 3: just as easily happen with a Democrat in the White House,
- 24:27Speaker 3: and it would be just as dangerous then too.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Well.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know, there are cases where the Biden
- 24:36Speaker 4: administration barred reporters from participating in things. I remember in particular,
- 24:41Speaker 4: one reporter that was barred from a Health and Human
- 24:43Speaker 4: Services call because they asked a question of the HHS
- 24:46Speaker 4: secretary that they didn't like, and that was the last
- 24:49Speaker 4: time they were allowed to ask a question on the call.
- 24:52Speaker 10: You know.
- 24:52Speaker 4: The difference there again is that was an opinion based
- 24:56Speaker 4: in that case, conservative journalist, and so somebody took us
- 25:00Speaker 4: wife at them and barred them from the call. When
- 25:02Speaker 4: you bar the Associated Press, then you're barring a very
- 25:06Speaker 4: centrist voice. And I don't like any of them being barred.
- 25:09Speaker 4: There are logistical reasons where you can only allow so
- 25:12Speaker 4: many people in the room. You didn't mention one thing
- 25:14Speaker 4: that you said, Hey, I don't know what else has happened. Well,
- 25:17Speaker 4: you know, as it is with this White House, they're
- 25:20Speaker 4: moving fast. And the next thing that has happened is
- 25:23Speaker 4: they've now barred the Associated Press reporter and photographer from
- 25:27Speaker 4: Air Force one as well as from the White House.
- 25:31Speaker 4: And this has gone on now for almost a week.
- 25:33Speaker 6: So this is.
- 25:36Speaker 4: The fight continues here. And you know, I can't think of,
- 25:41Speaker 4: to use the old phrase, a better hill to die
- 25:43Speaker 4: on for the Associated press than this one.
- 25:46Speaker 3: So, as someone Burke who frequently books authors and speakers
- 25:52Speaker 3: on shows like this or on book tours or whatever,
- 25:57Speaker 3: how concerned are you about this? For you, for some
- 26:01Speaker 3: of your some of your clients.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Well you make a great point, right, And so we
- 26:06Speaker 4: do touch based meetings every morning in our company at
- 26:09Speaker 4: ten thirty Naje Mitch war based here in DC. But
- 26:13Speaker 4: I'm a West Virginia boy at Hart and we work
- 26:15Speaker 4: with folks from West Virginia and all over the country.
- 26:17Speaker 4: And when you talk about authors, what that really means
- 26:20Speaker 4: is subject matter experts.
- 26:22Speaker 8: Right.
- 26:22Speaker 4: So, for example, I represent a retired Marine Corps colonel
- 26:26Speaker 4: who was an attack helicopter pilot, and he was all
- 26:30Speaker 4: over the media a couple of weeks ago when we
- 26:32Speaker 4: had that horrible helicopter plane crash over Reagan National here
- 26:36Speaker 4: in DC. Well, you know, colonel Dunn is available to
- 26:40Speaker 4: do media interviews and did do media interviews on very
- 26:45Speaker 4: conservative outlets and also on CNN. And so is it concerning.
- 26:51Speaker 4: It's absolutely concerning all the way around whenever you stifle
- 26:56Speaker 4: voices that have legit information, Because when Colonel Dumb was
- 27:00Speaker 4: on the air, it was not about the left or
- 27:03Speaker 4: the right. It wasn't about the politics. It was about
- 27:06Speaker 4: what really happened, what could have happened from a very
- 27:09Speaker 4: experienced helicopter pilot who had flown in that zone. So yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 4: I think this could be a real issue, and it's
- 27:16Speaker 4: just one of those things we've all got to watch
- 27:18Speaker 4: closely and push back against. You know, there's some talk, Dave,
- 27:23Speaker 4: that the Associated Press is an antiquated institution. You know,
- 27:27Speaker 4: that's a talking point that I've seen thrown out there,
- 27:29Speaker 4: that anybody with a cell phone, you know, in video
- 27:33Speaker 4: streaming can get information, but as you know, that information
- 27:38Speaker 4: can be really slanted if no one's paying attention, and
- 27:42Speaker 4: in the Associated Press it's part of their credo to
- 27:45Speaker 4: keep it in the middle.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, this would be different in my opinion.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I wouldn't be a fan of it, but it would
- 27:52Speaker 3: be much different if this were CNN that they were,
- 27:55Speaker 3: or or a Fox News for that matter, because those
- 27:58Speaker 3: are obviously organizations with slant. I mean, Fox News has
- 28:01Speaker 3: has admitted that, you know, MSNBC whatever. I wouldn't be
- 28:05Speaker 3: in favor of it, but I would almost understand it
- 28:08Speaker 3: a little bit more. The Associated Press is far far
- 28:11Speaker 3: from that, that's right.
- 28:13Speaker 4: And you know when you hear swipes that are made
- 28:17Speaker 4: at the media, you know, and don't get me started,
- 28:20Speaker 4: I've lit a fire under him. You know, the mainstream media,
- 28:26Speaker 4: the Associated Press supplies information to local and regional outlets.
- 28:32Speaker 4: And you know, you can't, for example, there in the
- 28:36Speaker 4: Charleston mar you can't throw someone like Amanda Baron under
- 28:39Speaker 4: the bus, who's a very down the middle of reporter,
- 28:42Speaker 4: and throw her in with an opinion host on Fox
- 28:45Speaker 4: News or MSNBC or any of those. It's a whole
- 28:48Speaker 4: different thing. And the Associated Press not only supplies information
- 28:53Speaker 4: to those local and regional outlets, but they also accept information.
- 28:56Speaker 4: So someone in your shop, like Chris Lawrence, has filed
- 28:59Speaker 4: many or easy Sociated Press is used to get what's
- 29:02Speaker 4: happening in Charleston, West Virginia, in the state of West
- 29:04Speaker 4: Virginia out to the rest of the country.
- 29:06Speaker 3: All right, interesting stuff, Burke, what's the weather like in DC?
- 29:10Speaker 3: Because we were supposed to stop snowing in Charleston last night.
- 29:14Speaker 3: It didn't get the memo, and it's still pouring and
- 29:15Speaker 3: the roads are horrible, and so on and so forth.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Plus I got another snowstorm coveted Wednesday. What's it like
- 29:20Speaker 3: in DC right now?
- 29:22Speaker 4: It's gonna hit you guys before it hits us. We
- 29:24Speaker 4: had the big windstorm here and it knocked a lot
- 29:27Speaker 4: of power out in and around DC. Some of the
- 29:29Speaker 4: folks in my office that are over in Annapolis, Maryland
- 29:31Speaker 4: are without power last night, without internet today. And when
- 29:35Speaker 4: you're in the media business having no internet.
- 29:38Speaker 3: It's kind of tough. All right, Burt, stay safe, We'll
- 29:41Speaker 3: talk soon.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Man. Thanks a lot, Hey, thanks for having me on,

- 32:35Speaker 3: welcome to the show, sir.
- 32:37Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, Dave, thanks for having met on this morning.
- 32:41Speaker 3: It is National Entrepreneurship Week. What's this all about? Secretary?
- 32:46Speaker 6: You know, this is something that Congress chartered about twenty
- 32:50Speaker 6: years ago, actually I think twenty two thousand and six,
- 32:55Speaker 6: and it's designed to promote core values, education and collaboration
- 33:01Speaker 6: with entrepreneurs and then among the network of stakeholders that
- 33:06Speaker 6: support entrepreneurs. And you know, I would just point out
- 33:09Speaker 6: for our listeners and remind them, you know, I claim
- 33:13Speaker 6: to have been an entrepreneur once upon a time, and
- 33:16Speaker 6: you know, it's a little bit different than being a businessman.
- 33:19Speaker 6: An entrepreneurs one that risks their own money, and that's
- 33:24Speaker 6: important and they need a network to support them. And
- 33:28Speaker 6: that's what National Entrepreneurship Week is all about.
- 33:31Speaker 3: And Secretary, when people when most people think of the
- 33:33Speaker 3: Secretary of State's Office, they think about elections and voter
- 33:36Speaker 3: registrations and things of that nature. But the office, uh
- 33:40Speaker 3: pretty much handles everything related to businesses.
- 33:44Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, of our you know, roughly fifty employees,
- 33:48Speaker 6: forty one of the office staff are focused on business.
- 33:54Speaker 6: You only really have six or seven that are dedicated
- 33:57Speaker 6: to elections. I've got to tell you this.
- 34:01Speaker 3: No, no, no, you go ahead, go aheads them.
- 34:03Speaker 6: I was just getting ready to say, you know, being
- 34:05Speaker 6: there in the capital this last week, you know, I
- 34:10Speaker 6: got a chance to go, you know, introduce myself to
- 34:13Speaker 6: our thirty new legislators, and they were really I mean,
- 34:18Speaker 6: they're really good and smart legislators. By the way, I
- 34:21Speaker 6: didn't hear one of them mention anything about Spruce knov
- 34:24Speaker 6: or Trump Mountain or anything of the sort, and they
- 34:28Speaker 6: were anxious to hear about. You know, we have a
- 34:29Speaker 6: Young Entrepreneurs program for those thirty and under, and we
- 34:34Speaker 6: also have a veteran's Boots to Business program. But both
- 34:37Speaker 6: of those programs are set up to make sure that
- 34:41Speaker 6: there's no registration fee if you want to start a
- 34:44Speaker 6: new business, and no annual fees for the first four years.
- 34:49Speaker 6: And again on the veterans side of the shop, as
- 34:51Speaker 6: you well know, you used to run that shop for
- 34:54Speaker 6: the Secretary of State's office. That is, you know, for
- 34:58Speaker 6: veterans and their spouse and active duty members and their
- 35:01Speaker 6: spouses if they want to start a new business. But
- 35:06Speaker 6: we have some really good, new smart legislators that are
- 35:11Speaker 6: very engaged with what we're doing on the business side
- 35:14Speaker 6: of things. Now. We hope to get them involved on
- 35:17Speaker 6: the election side soon with some bills were encouraging them
- 35:22Speaker 6: to sponsor. But right now, it's all about entrepreneurs this
- 35:26Speaker 6: week and focusing on that effort.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Talk about the business one Stop Center in Charleston moved.
- 35:33Speaker 3: It's number one. It's changed locations over the last couple
- 35:36Speaker 3: of years. It used to be on Washington Street down
- 35:39Speaker 3: a next tricky Fish is the way I used to
- 35:40Speaker 3: tell people how to find it. But now it's moved
- 35:42Speaker 3: a little bit. Talk about the one Stop Business center
- 35:44Speaker 3: here in Charleston.
- 35:47Speaker 6: You know that the location now is at thirteen Canoe
- 35:52Speaker 6: Bulevard West. I call it the Channel thirteen building. They're
- 35:57Speaker 6: right next to the intersection of the the Interstate on
- 36:02Speaker 6: the west side. But you know that was the first
- 36:06Speaker 6: four agency, single location business and licensing center in the nation,
- 36:11Speaker 6: which includes the Tax Department, the Division of Labor, and
- 36:15Speaker 6: the West Virginia Small Business Development Center, and then the
- 36:19Speaker 6: Secretary of State's Office is the fourth agency. Really proud
- 36:24Speaker 6: of what those guys are doing there. Sarah runs that
- 36:29Speaker 6: shop right now. And just last week, we had a
- 36:33Speaker 6: gentleman come into the Secretary of State's Office in the
- 36:36Speaker 6: state Capitol very frustrated. He had been tossed around three
- 36:40Speaker 6: or four times at the city and county level and
- 36:43Speaker 6: was told he needed to have a license to op
- 36:45Speaker 6: rate who was running a DJ business. We were able
- 36:49Speaker 6: to provide him a map getting down to the West
- 36:52Speaker 6: Virginia One Stop Business Center, and it was reported back
- 36:56Speaker 6: that he was walking out the door twenty two minutes
- 36:59Speaker 6: later with a business license ready to go and had
- 37:03Speaker 6: done everything he needed to do to register with the
- 37:07Speaker 6: State of West Virginia. So we're very proud of being
- 37:09Speaker 6: able to get people in and out the door very
- 37:12Speaker 6: quickly and on their way and ready to do business
- 37:16Speaker 6: in West Virginia.
- 37:17Speaker 3: And you're going to have an open house, I understand.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I guess that's weather permitting at this point, but hopefully
- 37:21Speaker 3: you're going to have an open house on Wednesday, right.
- 37:25Speaker 6: It is it sounds like it might be the same
- 37:26Speaker 6: time that the snow is scheduled, but three to five
- 37:30Speaker 6: pm we are having an open house. They've done some
- 37:34Speaker 6: renovations there. The building owner has done renovations for us
- 37:38Speaker 6: to fit our specific office, and we're going to do
- 37:42Speaker 6: a ribbon cutting. Even though we've you know, we've been
- 37:46Speaker 6: set up there and we have hubs and Clerksburg and Martinsburg.
- 37:51Speaker 6: We're going to celebrate and have an open house for
- 37:54Speaker 6: the anniversary of the West Virginia One Stop Business Center.
- 37:58Speaker 3: All right, well, happy Entrepreneurship Week, sir. We'll talk again soon.
- 38:02Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here, man, Thanks a lot.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Hey.
- 38:04Speaker 6: Let me mention one last thing, the West Virginia entrepreneurs Conference.
- 38:09Speaker 6: It's coming out to April twenty ninth at Shepherd University,
- 38:13Speaker 6: and folks can find more information on that online.
- 38:17Speaker 3: All right, appreciated, Secretary one, and we'll talk soon. Thanks
- 38:19Speaker 3: a lot, hey, Thanks again, see it, thanks a lot.

- 38:35Speaker 3: five zero zero eight text says I get the emails
- 38:38Speaker 3: on new businesses open each month, but there is the
- 38:42Speaker 3: other side sent out how many closed in the month.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Why let me I'll take a stab at that, because
- 38:48Speaker 3: sometimes if you're going to open up a business, it
- 38:51Speaker 3: is a specific process that you have to go through,
- 38:55Speaker 3: not necessarily for closing a business. It Some people just
- 38:59Speaker 3: cease operation and that's it. Some people file bankruptcy, some
- 39:02Speaker 3: people there is no Some people will even though they
- 39:06Speaker 3: go out of business, will keep their business license active.
- 39:09Speaker 3: And as long as you pay the fee. Again something
- 39:11Speaker 3: I know a little bit about, as long as you
- 39:13Speaker 3: pay the fee to the state through the Secretary of
- 39:16Speaker 3: State's office, you can keep that business license open. So
- 39:18Speaker 3: it would it would be very difficult for a state
- 39:22Speaker 3: agency to report how many businesses were closed because there's
- 39:25Speaker 3: so many different ways to go about it. Again, some
- 39:28Speaker 3: people just say hey, I'm done, they walk out, and
- 39:31Speaker 3: you never know, you never know about it. And others
- 39:34Speaker 3: do go through the whole process of dissolving a corporation,
- 39:36Speaker 3: and others just say, well, I'm going to close my
- 39:38Speaker 3: physical shop, but I'm going to pay the money to
- 39:41Speaker 3: be able to keep the business license. So that's hope.

- 40:46Speaker 3: not reportable of that happening. Do your research on it.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Here you go, he commented on the apiece of several
- 40:53Speaker 3: days ago. Okay, I will take a look at that,
- 40:55Speaker 3: all right. So this whole thing with the renaming of
- 41:02Speaker 3: Spruce Knob or whatever foolishness came out on Friday, and
- 41:06Speaker 3: I thought it was interesting to hear the Secretary Warners
- 41:09Speaker 3: say at the Capitol that no one there was talking
- 41:11Speaker 3: about it.
- 41:13Speaker 4: I guess.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I guess the story hit around midday and it sets
- 41:21Speaker 3: the Facebook and X world's ablaze. And I said it
- 41:27Speaker 3: now and I will say it again. And by the way,
- 41:31Speaker 3: I did a little video about it yesterday. You can
- 41:34Speaker 3: see that cheap plug on Dave alland Radio on Facebook
- 41:37Speaker 3: or at Dave A seventy on X. In my opinion,
- 41:42Speaker 3: it was never really meant to be taken seriously, but
- 41:48Speaker 3: yet people lost their collective minds over it. First of all,
- 41:53Speaker 3: it was a resolution, it was not a bill, and
- 41:58Speaker 3: it's not going to see the light of day. But
- 42:02Speaker 3: hang with me here. It did exactly what it was
- 42:06Speaker 3: intended to do, and that was to excite the masses,
- 42:13Speaker 3: which it did. The best thing, the single best thing
- 42:20Speaker 3: that you can do in situations like this is simply
- 42:28Speaker 3: ignored it for just what it is. But that's not
- 42:32Speaker 3: what happened. I was in the office upstairs eleven eleven thirty.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Someone sent me the story. It actually wasn't a story yet,
- 42:40Speaker 3: it was actually just they sent me a copy, if
- 42:42Speaker 3: you will, electronically on my phone of the bill. And
- 42:45Speaker 3: then of course you go to social media and everybody.
- 42:49Speaker 3: It was all the talk until the flooding hit, which
- 42:52Speaker 3: you know, you're in our thoughts and prayers go with
- 42:54Speaker 3: all those folks. But on Friday, Friday night into midday Saturday,
- 42:59Speaker 3: and it's still floated around out there a little bit.
- 43:01Speaker 3: It got everybody all in a tizzy about this thing,
- 43:05Speaker 3: which is exactly what the people wanted that put it
- 43:10Speaker 3: out there, because it did one of two things. It
- 43:16Speaker 3: let's look at a and B thing here. A. It
- 43:19Speaker 3: pandered to the base that the people that just absolutely
- 43:25Speaker 3: love Donald Trump and worship Donald Trump. Now again I
- 43:29Speaker 3: have said, just because you voted for Donald Trump doesn't
- 43:31Speaker 3: mean you necessarily worship the guy. But a lot of
- 43:33Speaker 3: people do. Or it made a whole lot of Trump
- 43:38Speaker 3: haters really really angry. That was, in my opinion, the design,
- 43:44Speaker 3: that's what was behind this whole thing was to a
- 43:48Speaker 3: stoke the fires, the pandering of the base, and b
- 43:53Speaker 3: to piss off Trump haters lack of a better term,
- 43:56Speaker 3: and it worked, and it worked in both sense. So
- 44:02Speaker 3: again I saw it, and I you know, as a
- 44:07Speaker 3: as a responsible member of the media, I did do
- 44:11Speaker 3: a little something on it. But again it's and we've
- 44:14Speaker 3: seen this with the legislatures, and I'm and it goes
- 44:16Speaker 3: on in other states as well. I know people pointed
- 44:18Speaker 3: out a similar thing that happened in Ohio. Rest assured,
- 44:22Speaker 3: West Virginia's highest point, Spruce Knob, is not going to
- 44:25Speaker 3: be called Trump Mountain. It's it's not. It's simply not
- 44:31Speaker 3: gonna happen.
- 44:31Speaker 6: So just calm down.

- 49:30Speaker 3: And I don't know that we're going to take someone off.
- 49:32Speaker 3: So I wonder what's on the backside?
- 49:34Speaker 4: Do you see?
- 49:34Speaker 3: Like there, if you go to the backside, do you
- 49:36Speaker 3: see the legs and arms? I always wanted them to Texas.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Bruce Knob is an iconic landmark in West Virginia. The
- 49:41Speaker 3: West Virginia Legislature introduced House concurrent Resolution thirty three wanted
- 49:45Speaker 3: to change the name of this to Trump Mountain. Not
- 49:47Speaker 3: only is this a huge waste of time for our
- 49:49Speaker 3: citizens and legislators, but it's blasphemy. How do you know
- 49:52Speaker 3: it's not gonna happen, because it's not. This is a
- 49:55Speaker 3: serious question. If that's a fact. I don't want to
- 49:57Speaker 3: waste my time and our legislator's time on this. Yes,
- 50:00Speaker 3: it's TJ. You for one minute think that's gonna happen. No, okay, Texas, Okay,
- 50:09Speaker 3: I'll cover that tomorrow. All right, So what's on a
- 50:11Speaker 3: big show today, buddy?
- 50:12Speaker 15: So coming up to ten oh six, we're gonna talk
- 50:15Speaker 15: with Michael Brooks. He is a McDowell County commissioner. He'll
- 50:18Speaker 15: join us live from the Area Command Center at the
- 50:20Speaker 15: Welch Armory. Welch is completely underwater. It was completely underwater.
- 50:25Speaker 15: I think it's receded to some degree. He'll talk about
- 50:28Speaker 15: the damage there, what folks are facing, and what the
- 50:30Speaker 15: recovery looks like, not only in Welch but in all
- 50:33Speaker 15: of McDowell County.
- 50:34Speaker 3: And it's bad.
- 50:35Speaker 2: It's bad.
- 50:36Speaker 3: It's extremely bad. I've been kind of monitoring because they
- 50:38Speaker 3: still got a lot of friends in that part of
- 50:40Speaker 3: the world, and I've posted a lot of stuff on
- 50:43Speaker 3: my social media pages and helped out the news department
- 50:45Speaker 3: here as well a little bit with that man. It's
- 50:47Speaker 3: it is total devastation. Now where I'm from originally in
- 50:49Speaker 3: Logan County, you have the term usual low lying areas,
- 50:53Speaker 3: and that's not to that's not to downplay it, but
- 50:55Speaker 3: it's not as bad there as what it is in
- 50:58Speaker 3: places like Mullins and as you said, Welch, and then
- 51:00Speaker 3: you get into Mingo County, places like Kermit and Naugatuck,
- 51:03Speaker 3: those areas down there are just absolutely, absolutely devastating. Jeff
- 51:09Speaker 3: will be on to help us too. He'll have the
- 51:11Speaker 3: exact number.
- 51:12Speaker 15: But he was telling me at Yager the tug crest
- 51:15Speaker 15: at above thirty feet. I think the previous record was
- 51:17Speaker 15: something about twenty four to twenty five feet, So that
- 51:20Speaker 15: gives you a sense. And we may not note today.
- 51:22Speaker 15: He made the point, we may not note today how
- 51:25Speaker 15: much damage we have. The water may not go down
- 51:27Speaker 15: quickly enough, so you know, we could still be doing
- 51:30Speaker 15: assessment tomorrow on this ten thirty three vaccines. We'll talk
- 51:35Speaker 15: about the Senate bill moving today onto the floor for
- 51:37Speaker 15: first reading that would allow religious and philosophical exemptions. I
