- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites the podcast from the Volume Podcast Network.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I am Chad Nouman. We are probably ninety less than
- 0:21Speaker 1: ninety days away from the start of the NFL season.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We are in mid June, which means we are about
- 0:27Speaker 1: five weeks away from the beginning of training camps. What
- 0:33Speaker 1: matters the most when you talk about NFL training camps quarterbacks.
- 0:38Speaker 1: We have the perfect guests to talk about quarterbacks today.
- 0:42Speaker 1: The most challenging, intriguing, interesting, exciting quarterback room scenarios with
- 0:51Speaker 1: Matthew Freedman. The best quarterbacks against the point spread with
- 0:56Speaker 1: Matthew Freedman and Simon Hunter. The quarterback scenarios you must
- 1:02Speaker 1: bet on in week one according to the opportunities presented
- 1:07Speaker 1: by our friends and friendly sponsors at Vanduel. Simon Hunter
- 1:11Speaker 1: is gonna talk about that. Matthew Freeman's gonna respond to that,
- 1:15Speaker 1: which means it's time to welcome in my BFF, my
- 1:18Speaker 1: companion professional better Sigmon Hunter. Hello, Chad, right off the top,
- 1:26Speaker 1: where you going next week? You're saying you need a
- 1:29Speaker 1: week off. I need to know. I didn't want to ask,
- 1:30Speaker 1: I want to say for the show, where's Shad going?
- 1:32Speaker 1: You're taking an actual vacation. I'm listen to me, Listen
- 1:36Speaker 1: to me, listening. I am taking an actual vacation, not
- 1:40Speaker 1: just like a vacation, but I'll be online vacation, which
- 1:45Speaker 1: is what everybody has done during the pandemic. And you know,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I'm a leader what I try to do, and I
- 1:51Speaker 1: have been preaching to all of my friends and colleagues
- 1:55Speaker 1: at the Action Network we all need to take vacation.
- 1:58Speaker 1: The pandemic has been incredibly stressful. If we were staying
- 2:02Speaker 1: at home with our families and taking time off, we
- 2:04Speaker 1: didn't know what to do with ourselves, and so we
- 2:06Speaker 1: continue to check our phones, were in Slack or in
- 2:08Speaker 1: Google Analytics. We're doing zoom calls because you might as well,
- 2:11Speaker 1: because you're just sitting there. Even when I took vacation
- 2:14Speaker 1: last year with my family and we left our house
- 2:17Speaker 1: in Connecticut and rented a house in Rhode Island, I
- 2:19Speaker 1: was still doing calls every day because it didn't feel
- 2:23Speaker 1: any different. We were just in a different place. Um.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So I am going to take vacation next week, and
- 2:31Speaker 1: I think it'll be the first time. And I'm not
- 2:35Speaker 1: saying this to be here. I'm just saying it, like
- 2:36Speaker 1: that's sort of just the reality, especially after the pandemic. Uh.
- 2:40Speaker 1: We're renting a house and keepe got My sister is
- 2:43Speaker 1: flying in from the Bay Area with her husband and
- 2:46Speaker 1: three kids. All of us got a house together. My
- 2:49Speaker 1: dad is going to fly in from Chicago. He's going
- 2:52Speaker 1: to stay at a hotel nearby because there's not enough
- 2:54Speaker 1: room in the house because there's like ten of us
- 2:55Speaker 1: in the house. And I'm totally unplugging. Like yesterday, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: went through and canceled meetings. I let you guys know
- 3:03Speaker 1: I wasn't gonna be around for the podcast. I let
- 3:06Speaker 1: my friend Colin Cowherd no, I wasn't gonna be around
- 3:09Speaker 1: to do his podcast. Uh we I found guest host
- 3:13Speaker 1: for our various NBA shows. We're launching a new show
- 3:16Speaker 1: with MLB. We're gonna rehearse it next week. I won't
- 3:18Speaker 1: be there. I'm just not gonna check in. It's gonna
- 3:21Speaker 1: be like a real vacation Jack God during Gray White season.
- 3:25Speaker 1: That's why I love you, Chad. You're the best. No
- 3:27Speaker 1: fear my friend, Chad. I have to know, do I
- 3:32Speaker 1: get to be the guest host once again on this
- 3:34Speaker 1: podcast when you were gone? Next week? Listen. It's I'll
- 3:38Speaker 1: tell you what. I'll tell you what. It's up to Matt,
- 3:42Speaker 1: Mitchell and Simon I said to them yesterday, entirely up
- 3:46Speaker 1: to you, guys. You want to skip the week, skip
- 3:48Speaker 1: the week? You want to find a guest host. Find
- 3:50Speaker 1: a guest host. Uh, if you want to be the
- 3:53Speaker 1: guest host, Freeman, there's only one thing you need to
- 3:56Speaker 1: do before the end of the week. I think you
- 3:58Speaker 1: know what it is. I think I know you know
- 4:00Speaker 1: what I want you to do. You give me the
- 4:03Speaker 1: right answer, and fuck yes, we will do a podcast
- 4:06Speaker 1: at least one and you can guest Toston. Okay, Well,
- 4:09Speaker 1: I would say that based on my previous appearance, I
- 4:12Speaker 1: should automatically be the guest host anytime you go on vacation,
- 4:17Speaker 1: regardless of whatever answer I do or do not come
- 4:21Speaker 1: back with on Friday. Well, listen, I disagree with you,
- 4:25Speaker 1: So only if you give me the answer I want,
- 4:28Speaker 1: can you be the guest host. But that's what I'm Simon,
- 4:31Speaker 1: That's what I'm gonna do. Not afraid of sharks. I
- 4:34Speaker 1: eat sharks for breakfast. Well. As a surfer, the first
- 4:38Speaker 1: thing I teach you is you punch the nose or
- 4:41Speaker 1: you stick your finger in their eye. Chat. So no
- 4:44Speaker 1: matter what, buddy, as long as you keep in mind
- 4:45Speaker 1: when you got your legs chopped down on, you're gonna
- 4:47Speaker 1: get out of it. Don't worry. The truth is I
- 4:49Speaker 1: actually eat rowdots for breakfast the night overnight rolldotes. Simon,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you've been bidden by a shark, didn't you once have
- 4:59Speaker 1: continuely taken off by a shark? Yeah, it's one of
- 5:02Speaker 1: my classic lines at a bar to a girl, I've
- 5:04Speaker 1: been been bit by a shark, and then later on
- 5:06Speaker 1: I tell him it was a baby shark, and uh,
- 5:09Speaker 1: there is no mark. It would bit my hand. But yep,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I'm a shark survivor. Chad. I'm surprised that your love
- 5:15Speaker 1: life is going the way it is, given that that's
- 5:16Speaker 1: one of your opening lines. How there you, I'm I
- 5:19Speaker 1: am actually killing it. The roying twenties. Chad already told
- 5:21Speaker 1: you if there was ever a time in human history
- 5:23Speaker 1: to be single, it's right after a pandemic. I'm telling
- 5:27Speaker 1: you it's it's literally fishing with dynamite right now, Chad,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I can't miss It's it's a good life. Tell me
- 5:32Speaker 1: the latest that I need to know. Oh, I I
- 5:35Speaker 1: am soulless right now. Ever since I got my Heartbrook
- 5:37Speaker 1: and I was trying to go for the relationship. Now
- 5:40Speaker 1: I've gone the complete other way where I'm just and
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm an assassin right now. I'm I do not care.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I'm just just. I can't find happiness and I'm just
- 5:49Speaker 1: going through the motions. But it's just so many people
- 5:52Speaker 1: are just out right now. It's just like usually I'll
- 5:56Speaker 1: be honest. In our area, New Jersey, the the tri
- 5:58Speaker 1: state Northeast area. Um, the women here are tough. They've
- 6:02Speaker 1: been burned by a lot of men, so they they're
- 6:04Speaker 1: they got a little guard up, but they think every
- 6:06Speaker 1: guy's a scumbag, which to them, they're right, most guys
- 6:09Speaker 1: are scumbags. Um. But because they've been trapped inside for
- 6:13Speaker 1: a year and a half, I've never met so many
- 6:15Speaker 1: happy girls in New Jersey. It's incredible right now, especially
- 6:18Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, like nice happy girls right now. So it
- 6:21Speaker 1: is a magical time. I will tell you, I uh
- 6:26Speaker 1: married a woman from Staten Island, obviously the Tristate area. Uh.
- 6:31Speaker 1: She could not be the sweetest. She is the sweetest, kindest,
- 6:39Speaker 1: most empathetic. Like you look in her eyes and you
- 6:43Speaker 1: know She only wants to help you do good with
- 6:47Speaker 1: whatever you want, right, And so like I've seen her
- 6:52Speaker 1: get Staten Island and say, you crossed that line, Chad, Dude,
- 6:56Speaker 1: It's just like the Staten Island come out. Not on me,
- 7:01Speaker 1: but I've seen it happen because she's also an architect,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and so she deals with contractors, and like I've seen
- 7:08Speaker 1: her have to be Staten Island. And I gotta tell you,
- 7:11Speaker 1: I kind of love it. You know, I'm not living
- 7:15Speaker 1: a soulless life of emptiness like you, Simon, but you're
- 7:19Speaker 1: in I am in my fifties, that is true. I
- 7:23Speaker 1: have turned fifty. Hey, we're gonna talk about quarterbacks today,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and before we do that, I do want to show
- 7:28Speaker 1: one thing so as we know I love this is Sid.
- 7:33Speaker 1: This is a Sid Luckman, bubblehead, Sid Luckman, who was
- 7:37Speaker 1: a quarterback for the Bears for most of their championships.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Uh in sort of their glory years. Looking back and
- 7:45Speaker 1: like the thirties and forties, Um, I went to Colombia,
- 7:51Speaker 1: one of the greatest modern era, first modern era quarterbacks
- 7:55Speaker 1: that ever lived, right, said Luckman. Bubblehead went to high
- 7:58Speaker 1: school with his grandkids. Um, everyone knows I love the Bears.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You can see the Bears banner over my shoulder. We
- 8:06Speaker 1: talked about the Bears all the time. My heart opens
- 8:08Speaker 1: and closes with the Bears and what they're doing, what
- 8:11Speaker 1: they're not doing. So uh. A man named davek who
- 8:15Speaker 1: works for the Bears was listening to the podcast. Give
- 8:17Speaker 1: him a shout out. Set me a box of Bears swag,
- 8:21Speaker 1: including this Sid Luckman bobble head, uh, which we will
- 8:25Speaker 1: now refer to as Sid Lucky Luckman, and this will
- 8:29Speaker 1: be will rub his head and this will be how
- 8:32Speaker 1: we end up having a great season in Chicago, both
- 8:34Speaker 1: as betters, as fans, as a team on the road
- 8:38Speaker 1: back to glory with Justin Field. That's what I'm talking about.
- 8:41Speaker 1: If anybody's watching Bears social media, they saw Matt Nagy
- 8:44Speaker 1: throwing ropes during practice. Were coming back baby. Yeah. My favorite,
- 8:51Speaker 1: my favorite quote at the Bears gamp has to be
- 8:52Speaker 1: the receiver Um talking about he was smiling is first
- 8:56Speaker 1: time catching the ball from Justin fields because the ball
- 8:58Speaker 1: looks so perfect coming out of Justin Chance. I mean,
- 9:00Speaker 1: that has to make you feel so good, Chad, it does,
- 9:03Speaker 1: But you know what, it's interesting, like I get you
- 9:04Speaker 1: know I as you know, I was at ESPN for
- 9:06Speaker 1: a long time, and so I get alerts for a
- 9:08Speaker 1: lot of different teams, and I actually never stopped it.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You get alerts for a the teams that your boss
- 9:14Speaker 1: loves because you want to make sure, like if he
- 9:16Speaker 1: calls you on a Saturday morning, why did this happen?
- 9:18Speaker 1: I didn't get alert. You want to know if the
- 9:20Speaker 1: alert came or not. But also I get it for
- 9:22Speaker 1: like the Cowboys and the Patriots and like the high
- 9:24Speaker 1: profile teams, so I still get them, and every alert
- 9:29Speaker 1: from from ESPN reporters is framed. You know, Patriots coaches
- 9:35Speaker 1: love Matt Jones. They think he's amazing. I'm like, of course,
- 9:39Speaker 1: you're fucking saying that. You're writing about the Patriots for
- 9:42Speaker 1: fans of the Patriots. So I don't expect much critical
- 9:46Speaker 1: thinking to be happening about justin Fields right now. There's
- 9:51Speaker 1: all I would say about that. Freeman got anything to add.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I just want to say it was a great story, Chad.
- 9:59Speaker 1: It started strong and it finished stronger, and I can't
- 10:03Speaker 1: wait to fill in with equally strong stories next week.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I feel like Freeman is mocking me. I've never I've
- 10:11Speaker 1: never hated Freeman more than I do right now. I
- 10:14Speaker 1: believe that let's say, let's talk about quarterbacks. Uh, you know, Freedman,
- 10:21Speaker 1: before we came on, you wisely said we should look
- 10:25Speaker 1: at it from a room to room scenario. That's how
- 10:28Speaker 1: you've been thinking about it. Give me your thoughts on
- 10:30Speaker 1: what's happening in various quarterbacks rooms right now. Give me
- 10:35Speaker 1: the most intriguing, the most interesting, most exciting best cases
- 10:40Speaker 1: for quarterback rooms, meaning quarterback situations around the NFL. I
- 10:45Speaker 1: mean it starts with the Packers for sure. This is
- 10:48Speaker 1: the storyline that is owning the off season. Is Aaron
- 10:52Speaker 1: Rodgers going to report to Packers training camp if he
- 10:57Speaker 1: stays with the Packers? And I think that ultimately is
- 11:00Speaker 1: what happens, because really he has no leverage if he stays.
- 11:03Speaker 1: This is a top five, top three quarterback room just
- 11:07Speaker 1: because you have Aaron Rodgers coming off of an m
- 11:10Speaker 1: v P season and in today's NFL quarterbacks are aging
- 11:13Speaker 1: like wine. Even though he's older, he still could be
- 11:16Speaker 1: great for another three to five years. Of course, the
- 11:19Speaker 1: Packers have seemingly gone out of their way for the
- 11:22Speaker 1: past year to alienate their franchise quarterback and so it
- 11:25Speaker 1: wouldn't be a surprise if somehow, a month, two months
- 11:28Speaker 1: from now, this is a bottom five quarterback room with
- 11:31Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers somehow retired or traded away if he gets
- 11:35Speaker 1: more leverage. And you're looking at two quarterbacks in Jordan's
- 11:38Speaker 1: Love and Blake Bortles, who you put them together, and
- 11:42Speaker 1: it's like, I mean, it's bad quarterback ste You really
- 11:44Speaker 1: don't even know which one you would rather have starting
- 11:47Speaker 1: in week one. So you have a a top five,
- 11:50Speaker 1: top three quarterback room right now with Aaron Rodgers. If
- 11:54Speaker 1: the Packers make a mistake and a half a month
- 11:56Speaker 1: from now, this could be a bottom three, bottom two
- 11:59Speaker 1: quarterback room that we're looking at. So this, to me
- 12:02Speaker 1: is the most intriguing quarterback room in the entire league.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Followed closely, I would say, by Houston with DeShawn Watson,
- 12:09Speaker 1: who knows what will happen with him, and then after him,
- 12:12Speaker 1: Tyrod Taylor and Davis Mills. I mean, that's a really
- 12:15Speaker 1: bad situation looking at it in a vacuum, I don't
- 12:18Speaker 1: think Watson plays this year, and that means we got
- 12:22Speaker 1: Tyrod Taylor, who is imminently replaceable. But of course the
- 12:25Speaker 1: Texans don't have anyone to replace him with. I think
- 12:28Speaker 1: the Texans right now, even though they have Deshaun Watson,
- 12:31Speaker 1: they have the worst quarterback situation in the league. You
- 12:36Speaker 1: want to talk about a quarterback Stu, Bob Evelini, Mike Phipps,
- 12:44Speaker 1: Vince Evans. That's a run of quarterbacks for the Chicago
- 12:49Speaker 1: Bears in the seventies and eighties, which is why they're
- 12:55Speaker 1: giving out bubble heads of sid lave me signing your
- 13:03Speaker 1: thoughts on what Freeman just said. Yeah, I'm with him. Uh,
- 13:07Speaker 1: the Houston one is really intriguing because even if he
- 13:10Speaker 1: does play this year, Watson, that team is such a
- 13:12Speaker 1: train wreck. You just like look at them on paper.
- 13:14Speaker 1: They have like ten running backs and no receivers. It's
- 13:17Speaker 1: just the most bizarre put together team. And like, again,
- 13:21Speaker 1: do your own to Gillen. Gillen's read about the guy
- 13:23Speaker 1: who's running the team now the GM is. I don't know.
- 13:27Speaker 1: He's one of these stories where it's like this guy
- 13:29Speaker 1: who just talked his way into a position of football.
- 13:32Speaker 1: It's like he started out as a you know, working
- 13:35Speaker 1: for the church at the Patriots, and now he's all
- 13:37Speaker 1: of a sudden running a team in the NFL, and
- 13:41Speaker 1: I don't think he knows what he's doing. And I
- 13:43Speaker 1: just look at that team that I took their under already.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I think it was five, might be down to four
- 13:48Speaker 1: and a half now. I just that that is. I'm
- 13:50Speaker 1: with him on it. It's just an absolute train wreck there.
- 13:52Speaker 1: But for all the like contriguement, to me, I'm really
- 13:56Speaker 1: interested in seeing what's gonna happen with the Bills. I
- 14:00Speaker 1: love Josh Allen so much, but I love the fact
- 14:03Speaker 1: that Bill's fans now have to live with the fact
- 14:06Speaker 1: that at any moment, are running quarterback they love could
- 14:09Speaker 1: go down and Mitch Drabinski is coming on the field.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It's just I love it. It. To me, there's nothing
- 14:14Speaker 1: better because we know how passionate Bills fans are. I
- 14:17Speaker 1: am waiting for it. In week three, week four, whatever happens,
- 14:21Speaker 1: Mitch has to come on the field, and I just
- 14:22Speaker 1: cannot wait to go to Twitter and just see what's
- 14:24Speaker 1: happening with Bill's fans because it's truly gonna be magical.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Well listen, hey, Mr Robinsky, I'll note sit leftmon bobble
- 14:32Speaker 1: head alright, number one, number two, the Bill's Simon. I
- 14:37Speaker 1: already bet of Bill's future. The Bills make monking you
- 14:44Speaker 1: throw your hands upthing town, throw your hand from now
- 14:49Speaker 1: the Bills. I'm making it happen. Now. I already bet
- 14:52Speaker 1: of Bill's future. And you're telling me how much you
- 14:55Speaker 1: love Josh Allen, And I know that that doesn't mean,
- 14:59Speaker 1: all right, go beat the Bill's future because of pricing
- 15:02Speaker 1: and everything else. But certainly compared to the Patriots, compared
- 15:08Speaker 1: to the Jets, compared to the Dolphins, it's hard to
- 15:15Speaker 1: find a better quarterback room in New England just by
- 15:19Speaker 1: virtue in the a f C is just by virtue
- 15:21Speaker 1: of who's on top of the food chain there. Yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 1: that's I definitely do think it's a great keep your room,
- 15:27Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. But I just love the drama
- 15:28Speaker 1: of the whole thing. Um. But I already told you
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna be one of the rare people I'm gonna
- 15:32Speaker 1: be off the Bills that will come in season. I'm
- 15:34Speaker 1: just it's one of those teams I'm gonna zag on
- 15:36Speaker 1: because everyone's gonna be digging on. They just they're just
- 15:38Speaker 1: gonna come in so high. For good reason. They're a
- 15:41Speaker 1: great team. They're well coached. But that's why I told
- 15:44Speaker 1: you earlier on the year. I just love the value
- 15:46Speaker 1: on Miami. I just think the upside with tah everything
- 15:49Speaker 1: about Miami there just seems like there's more value built
- 15:51Speaker 1: into Miami than it is taking the bills at this point. Well,
- 15:54Speaker 1: it's an interesting way to look at it as from
- 15:57Speaker 1: a quarterback rooms perspect active, Right, Like Texans are a mess,
- 16:03Speaker 1: Packers could be a mess. There is a decent amount
- 16:06Speaker 1: of stability. You know, the Jags have stability right now.
- 16:08Speaker 1: You know that the Titans have stability, The Bengals, the Browns,
- 16:12Speaker 1: the Ravens, Steelers kind of have stability. Um, Broncos are
- 16:17Speaker 1: a mess. Charger's have stability, Raiders have stability, Chiefs hastability.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Jets have stability, but they're not going to be a
- 16:25Speaker 1: factor when it comes to quarterback room. So I'm just like,
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm I'm doing this for the audience sake to narrow
- 16:31Speaker 1: down the conversations around quarterback rooms because Friedman, I think
- 16:35Speaker 1: the other two most interesting conversations have got to be
- 16:39Speaker 1: the Eagles and the Niners, where that's sort of the
- 16:42Speaker 1: most instability, most highest highest ceiling, lows floor. Yeah, that's interesting.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I think with the forty Niners. It's high ceiling, high
- 16:54Speaker 1: floor really regardless of whoever's quarterback. And a lot of
- 16:57Speaker 1: that is the offensive system. We've seen Jimmy garraw Popolo
- 17:00Speaker 1: have success when he's been healthy within that system. And
- 17:03Speaker 1: then Trey Lance, with the combination of arm strength and
- 17:07Speaker 1: rushing ability that he has, I think he could do
- 17:09Speaker 1: well pretty quickly if he ends up overtaking Garoppolo, whether
- 17:13Speaker 1: that's in the preseason or in the middle of the season.
- 17:16Speaker 1: So I think that's a pretty strong quarterback room. I
- 17:19Speaker 1: see your point entirely with the Eagles because there's so
- 17:23Speaker 1: much uncertainty both with the quarterback situation. Uh, will we
- 17:27Speaker 1: see the second rounder Jalen Hurts develop into a better
- 17:32Speaker 1: quarterback in his second season, and then with the offensive system,
- 17:35Speaker 1: he's going to have to learn something new and there's
- 17:39Speaker 1: a lot of uncertainty with his wide receiver situations. And
- 17:42Speaker 1: then he has Joe Flacco. I mean, it's not as
- 17:45Speaker 1: if anyone's wanting Joe Flacco to start, but if Jalen
- 17:49Speaker 1: Hurts doesn't do well to start the season, a coaching
- 17:52Speaker 1: staff could look at Flacco and say, Okay, this guy
- 17:54Speaker 1: is at least a veteran who's won a lot of
- 17:57Speaker 1: games in the NFL. So there is a lot of
- 18:00Speaker 1: volatility in Philadelphia in terms of how well Hurts could
- 18:04Speaker 1: do and then how poorly he could do, and then
- 18:06Speaker 1: what that means for the franchise. There cannot be hate
- 18:10Speaker 1: coaching staff with any credibility that looks at Jue Flacco
- 18:16Speaker 1: and says, yeah, this guy has won games eight years ago.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Let's give him a chance. Wow. Yeah that was Look
- 18:25Speaker 1: how cocky chat is? Chat? I remind you you we
- 18:29Speaker 1: didn't want to go against Joe Flacca with Justin Herbert.
- 18:32Speaker 1: That's how we got knocked out our Survivor contest. Do
- 18:35Speaker 1: you fear Joe Flacco? I hate you? Chat you Flecu?
- 18:40Speaker 1: I'm with him though about the Eagles, Um, I I
- 18:43Speaker 1: it's such dark days around here, Like it's crazy. I
- 18:46Speaker 1: think four years ago, I want we won a super
- 18:48Speaker 1: Bowl and neither of those quarterbacks are on the team
- 18:50Speaker 1: right now. It's just a weird time for Philadelphia. And
- 18:54Speaker 1: again I like the upside of Hurts. I think he
- 18:57Speaker 1: does have weapons around him. The old line is really good.
- 19:00Speaker 1: You never know. I just think the values there that
- 19:03Speaker 1: again on Fandel our friends at Vandal it's one right
- 19:06Speaker 1: now for him to get m VP, So it sounds crazy.
- 19:09Speaker 1: He doesn't make any sense right now. It's the same
- 19:11Speaker 1: thing with Lamar Jackson. You're just looking at someone that's
- 19:14Speaker 1: high upside that we know they have the ability to
- 19:16Speaker 1: do and they have the weapons around him to do it.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So this is simply just a play that I think
- 19:20Speaker 1: he has the upside. Could he be benched Week six
- 19:22Speaker 1: for Nick Mullins or Joe Flacco. That's a possibility, but
- 19:26Speaker 1: it's worth the risk it one. Mike tom Zack, Jim
- 19:33Speaker 1: Harbaugh cade make nown three other quarterbacks who played for
- 19:40Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears that are unworthy of a Sid love
- 19:45Speaker 1: Man bubble ahead. If I didn't know that these were
- 19:49Speaker 1: actual people, I would just assume you're making up names
- 19:52Speaker 1: at this point. It's amazing, right when you think about
- 19:56Speaker 1: some of these names. I think about Mike tom Zack. Look,
- 19:59Speaker 1: Jim m Man won a Super Bowl with the Bears
- 20:01Speaker 1: in and then he kept getting injured, and so Mike
- 20:05Speaker 1: tom Zach, who was basically an undrafted quarterback out of
- 20:08Speaker 1: Ohio State, came in and kept playing really really well,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and so then there was a quarterback controversy, and then
- 20:14Speaker 1: the Bears eventually traded away McMahon because they loved tom Zach.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And I remember tom Zach when you he separated his shoulder,
- 20:23Speaker 1: and my parents owned a They owned clothing store. Simon,
- 20:27Speaker 1: what are you laughing at? They owned clothing store and
- 20:29Speaker 1: your tangents. I mean, I don't even get you down
- 20:32Speaker 1: these paths. Sometimes. They owned clothing stores in the North
- 20:36Speaker 1: Shore of Chicago, which is like the fancy suburbs of Chicago.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And Mike tom Zach was once making an appearance from
- 20:43Speaker 1: my parents at their clothing store, and he showed up
- 20:45Speaker 1: and he had his arm in the slaying and all
- 20:47Speaker 1: that kind of stuff, and I remember someone came up
- 20:51Speaker 1: to him and went, hey, Mike, how's it going, and
- 20:53Speaker 1: slammed him right in the shoulder. And I thought to myself,
- 20:57Speaker 1: this is this is the luck of the Bears. Is
- 21:00Speaker 1: Mike tom Zack getting paid five dred bucks to go
- 21:02Speaker 1: making a parent and some Yahoo who's not even a
- 21:05Speaker 1: fan comes up and slams him on the shoulder. That's
- 21:08Speaker 1: what happens. Did you bet against the Bears that weekend?
- 21:13Speaker 1: That's the real question. I would think I was only
- 21:15Speaker 1: like thirteen or fourteen at the time. I didn't know
- 21:17Speaker 1: enough about betting. You know, I wasn't living the degenerate
- 21:21Speaker 1: life that Simon lived, you know what I mean? Um,
- 21:26Speaker 1: I don't feel like we talked enough about the Niners.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You skipped over the Niners and the opportunities there and
- 21:34Speaker 1: went right into the Eagles, and we talked about just
- 21:37Speaker 1: how bad the Eagles are. And maybe that was my
- 21:39Speaker 1: follow up, Is that was the problem? Yeah, Um yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 1: My My view on the forty and Irons is just
- 21:48Speaker 1: I'm I'm on the train with everyone else. I'm they
- 21:51Speaker 1: were they had the worst health luck last year, so
- 21:53Speaker 1: right there, you're already building back that they're gonna be
- 21:55Speaker 1: way more healthier this year. I felt like I was
- 21:58Speaker 1: one of the only people I was really tall talking
- 22:00Speaker 1: about how Trey Lance. That's why I thought he might
- 22:03Speaker 1: be going there is he gave me the RG three
- 22:04Speaker 1: vibes and they just it was one of the things
- 22:06Speaker 1: where people were really talking about how he coached r
- 22:09Speaker 1: G three and the Rookie of the Year year, And
- 22:13Speaker 1: that's why my whole thing was about the tray Lands
- 22:15Speaker 1: and I was like, I could see it. He's got
- 22:16Speaker 1: a running quarterback or justin fields, he's running quarterback and
- 22:20Speaker 1: now that we're here. It's definitely one of those where
- 22:23Speaker 1: there I'm thinking they're trying to do the same thing
- 22:25Speaker 1: that he go Wass did with Bradford. They're hoping there's
- 22:27Speaker 1: a preseason injury they can play it all cool. They
- 22:29Speaker 1: say Jimmy and Trey are good right now, that they
- 22:31Speaker 1: want to move on from Jimmy. They I think that
- 22:34Speaker 1: they've seen it. They just can't rely on someone that
- 22:36Speaker 1: can't stay on the field, and they see that they're
- 22:38Speaker 1: in a really small window here and they need to
- 22:40Speaker 1: capitalize on that. So I'm right there with him that
- 22:43Speaker 1: it's an intrigue in QB room. But it's one of
- 22:45Speaker 1: those where I think they're gonna move on from Jimmy
- 22:47Speaker 1: and it's just gonna be the tray Land Show. And
- 22:49Speaker 1: in that division, it's gonna you're gonna have to You're
- 22:52Speaker 1: gonna have to have some balls that take Trey Lance
- 22:55Speaker 1: in that division, he literally is going against We're gonna
- 22:56Speaker 1: talk about him too later on Stafford, who I'll lot
- 23:00Speaker 1: of the guys on the desert. They keep talking about
- 23:02Speaker 1: staff For m v P to keep talking about the
- 23:04Speaker 1: Rams Super Bowl futures. That's a team that's getting hyped
- 23:07Speaker 1: really hard. Then we have the Seahawks Russell Wilson in
- 23:10Speaker 1: that division, and again it's I'm not I'm down in Arizona,
- 23:14Speaker 1: but people really like Kyler Murray. So it is tough
- 23:16Speaker 1: for me to back the forty niners here when I'm
- 23:19Speaker 1: looking at the division and they could have a rookie
- 23:20Speaker 1: quarterback starting in that division. I am not a buyer. Literally,
- 23:28Speaker 1: if I've made I have probably been a third of
- 23:32Speaker 1: the teams in the NFL on Super Bowl futures. The
- 23:36Speaker 1: Rams are one of the teams I have not bought.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I'm not a buyer on Matthew Stafford. I'm not a
- 23:41Speaker 1: buyer on Matthew Stafford and Sean McVeigh just because he's
- 23:45Speaker 1: in a new offense too much positivity, Like Sean McVeigh, Oh,
- 23:49Speaker 1: I'm so happy now all of a sudden, Dude, you
- 23:51Speaker 1: were part of the decision making that gave Jared Goff
- 23:54Speaker 1: a massive new contract. Like, come on, You're not a
- 23:57Speaker 1: miracle worker in this situation. Matthe Stafford is not going
- 24:00Speaker 1: to change who he is. Don't give me that face.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I go back, I keep to leave. I'm Colin Cowherd's
- 24:07Speaker 1: podcast after the trade was made Colin Cowhurd asked him
- 24:12Speaker 1: what he thought of Matthew Stafford. Keep to Leave's comment was,
- 24:15Speaker 1: guys are on the league. They're like Matthew Stafford, that's
- 24:19Speaker 1: what's gonna get you to the super Bowl. I'm not buying.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Like see, I'm it's gonna be weird here that I
- 24:25Speaker 1: have to defend him because I I am not the
- 24:27Speaker 1: biggest Matthew Stafford fan either. I think he's injury prone.
- 24:31Speaker 1: He's also a guy who just spent his whole career
- 24:33Speaker 1: in Detroit, one of the worst run organizations in the league.
- 24:37Speaker 1: And I know you can say whatever you want of them. McVeigh,
- 24:40Speaker 1: I think he's a genius. I think this guy is
- 24:42Speaker 1: so far ahead of whatever you can wrap your head around.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Chat offensively like someone that watches a lot of film. Dude,
- 24:47Speaker 1: this dude is a genius. Like wait till you see
- 24:51Speaker 1: Jared Golf in Detroit this upcoming season, then maybe you're
- 24:54Speaker 1: gonna start appreciating McVeigh kneecaps. But I I don't know.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I don't know why they love it so much. I'm
- 25:02Speaker 1: right there with you. Stafford. To me, he's never done it.
- 25:05Speaker 1: But I think there maybe they're saying that's a Detroit
- 25:07Speaker 1: thing and that the Rams they have all the pieces there.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Literally they beat the Seahawks in the playoffs with a
- 25:13Speaker 1: one handed quarterback. So I don't know. I think that
- 25:17Speaker 1: there is some upside to that team. I can see
- 25:18Speaker 1: why the guys are betting them, But I'm right there
- 25:20Speaker 1: with you. I have not placed any future bets on
- 25:22Speaker 1: the Ram so far. You can choose one of these
- 25:25Speaker 1: two coaches to coach your team, Kyle Shanahan or Sean McVeigh.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's a little unfair and that like,
- 25:35Speaker 1: obviously you go with you Shanahan. It's not it's the question,
- 25:40Speaker 1: it's not you go with you go with Shanahan and chat.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I see your point. I think obviously you're right. McVeigh
- 25:47Speaker 1: had a large hand in creating the circumstances in which
- 25:50Speaker 1: he now must operate. But to be fair, Jared Goff
- 25:56Speaker 1: is maybe a bottom five starting quarterback in the league,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and McVeigh maybe it's hubristic, but he at least thinks
- 26:04Speaker 1: that he has the offensive aptitude as a play caller
- 26:08Speaker 1: to have a team that competes as long as his
- 26:11Speaker 1: quarterback is mediocre at worst. And I think that's probably
- 26:16Speaker 1: the situation with Stafford. Like I don't think Stafford is subpar.
- 26:19Speaker 1: He's probably mediocre. Maybe he's a little bit better than that.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I love this idea. I love this idea that coaches
- 26:30Speaker 1: believe they are so good and they can build such
- 26:35Speaker 1: amazing systems and processes that at the most competitive levels
- 26:42Speaker 1: of the most competitive sport, they think, if I get
- 26:47Speaker 1: a guy who's serviceable, I can get there. Just because
- 26:52Speaker 1: Trent Dilford did it, just because Brad Johnson was Brad. Yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 1: Brad Johnson did it all of a sudden like that
- 26:59Speaker 1: said a tone that the coaches believe. Listen, at the
- 27:03Speaker 1: end of the day, my job, I'm essentially a GM.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I gotta fine talent, I gotta fitted into my system.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I gotta get people in for the right price. Talent wins.
- 27:14Speaker 1: That's it, I'm telling you, that's all it is. Though
- 27:16Speaker 1: Nick Foles, Joe Flacco, those guys both won Super Bowls,
- 27:20Speaker 1: none of us sitting here think of them as great quarterbacks.
- 27:22Speaker 1: They're just right time, right system of the team with
- 27:25Speaker 1: a ton of talent. So I'm with a lot of
- 27:27Speaker 1: GM's views that way, that it is all about the
- 27:29Speaker 1: team around you. But of course, all those want Aaron Rodgers.
- 27:33Speaker 1: We all want a superstar quarterback, but we know the deal.
- 27:36Speaker 1: There's only three or four of them every ten years.
- 27:38Speaker 1: That's just the way the NFL is, Simon. If you're
- 27:42Speaker 1: looking at quarterbacks, speaking of Matthew Stafford, are you how
- 27:48Speaker 1: do you gauge what quarterbacks are worth the most against
- 27:52Speaker 1: this point spread and what quarterbacks are worth the least
- 27:56Speaker 1: against the point But start with the most. Let Matthew
- 27:59Speaker 1: for even respond, then we will go to the least.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I mean, he knows it's gonna be pretty basic, Like
- 28:05Speaker 1: you just go through top five quarterbacks. So Mahomes, Rogers,
- 28:09Speaker 1: when Brees is playing, Tom Brady or Lamar Jackson, these
- 28:12Speaker 1: all these quarterbacks that we know can put up points,
- 28:15Speaker 1: they skew it up. It's tough to say how it
- 28:18Speaker 1: goes with that because it's um. A lot of it
- 28:22Speaker 1: does go into system and matchup. There's certain quarterbacks that
- 28:26Speaker 1: there's certain defenses they just don't play well against. And
- 28:29Speaker 1: it sounds bizarre, but you can go through different teams
- 28:31Speaker 1: and look at their history, like Patrick Mahomes for some reason,
- 28:34Speaker 1: he hasn't done great against the Chargers, or he hasn't
- 28:37Speaker 1: done great against Oakland. When he plays out a division,
- 28:40Speaker 1: he's great against defenses don't don't see him that often,
- 28:43Speaker 1: So it is it is different depending on matchups. But
- 28:47Speaker 1: for me, when people are trying to build out grading um,
- 28:50Speaker 1: these quarterbacks, it's really hard. Like say Tom Brady, his
- 28:56Speaker 1: peak might have been worth ten points to the spread,
- 28:59Speaker 1: which sounds crazy, but there was a run there from
- 29:02Speaker 1: oh six toleven where he was just untouchable. I mean
- 29:07Speaker 1: literally that undefeated season. What was that two thousand seven eight?
- 29:10Speaker 1: He just was on an incredible run and I honestly
- 29:13Speaker 1: thought I would never have a quarterback ranked that high.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And then Aaron Rodgers came on and he was pretty
- 29:19Speaker 1: pretty much the same in points wise on his little run.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And with my Homes it's been different. Um, I'll never
- 29:27Speaker 1: forget that playoff run last year or two years ago. Now.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I remember I came on your show, Jat I said
- 29:32Speaker 1: that I had them at minus I think it was
- 29:34Speaker 1: eleven or ten against the Titans and the line was
- 29:38Speaker 1: like six and people are freaking out, they go, how
- 29:41Speaker 1: can you have him minus ten against the Titans. I'm
- 29:44Speaker 1: just like, this is purely Mahomes. Like Mahomes one of
- 29:47Speaker 1: my homes is in the game. You add a touchdown
- 29:49Speaker 1: to that game, and now we're at the point where
- 29:51Speaker 1: he's probably ten points now Patrick mahomes to the spread.
- 29:54Speaker 1: So if he's out of the game, Chiefs are gonna
- 29:56Speaker 1: be ten points less. So I definitely think he's by
- 29:58Speaker 1: far the number one, and everyone else kind close behind him.
- 30:01Speaker 1: How this is a question for both of you, because
- 30:04Speaker 1: I know bookmakers do this. How do you account for,
- 30:12Speaker 1: speaking of quarterback rooms, the backups? So it could be
- 30:17Speaker 1: back in the day three or four years ago, Carson
- 30:19Speaker 1: Wentz was having an MVP season on his own. He
- 30:23Speaker 1: were seven points to get the points bread But and
- 30:25Speaker 1: this is actually Jermaine because the when he went out,
- 30:30Speaker 1: the Eagles all of a sudden, UM, so many people
- 30:34Speaker 1: downgraded than they got downgraded quite a bit. But the
- 30:36Speaker 1: wise guys didn't downgrade Nick Foles from Carson Wentz. So
- 30:39Speaker 1: that's why they were betting on the Eagles in the
- 30:40Speaker 1: super Bowl and throughout the playoffs they kept winning. Um.
- 30:43Speaker 1: How do you account for backups in your math? Freeman?
- 30:46Speaker 1: If you think about this, you may answer first, If not,
- 30:49Speaker 1: you made it ferd assignment. Yes, I do think about
- 30:53Speaker 1: this and Chad. That was actually early on in the
- 30:55Speaker 1: Days of Action Network the Eagles in the Super Bowl,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and I remember we had conversations about how Nick Foles
- 31:02Speaker 1: shouldn't be discounted nearly to the extent that he was. Uh,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I have, you know, two different numbers, one for the
- 31:08Speaker 1: starting quarterback, one for the backup quarterback, and so you
- 31:12Speaker 1: just do the differential. Most of the backup quarterbacks are
- 31:15Speaker 1: a slight negative, although I should say, you know Simon
- 31:18Speaker 1: earlier mentioned the Buffalo Bills. As far as backup quarterbacks go,
- 31:23Speaker 1: you could do a lot worse than Mitchell Drubisky. So
- 31:26Speaker 1: I think, like I have Josh Allen as one of
- 31:29Speaker 1: the top five quarterbacks in the league. By the point spread,
- 31:33Speaker 1: the drop from Alan to Trubisky, I mean it's it's
- 31:37Speaker 1: a significant drop, but it's not nearly as significant as
- 31:40Speaker 1: it would be if we're talking about Aaron Rodgers to
- 31:43Speaker 1: Jordan's Love, for instance. So Trubisky as a backup, he
- 31:48Speaker 1: actually elevates the quality of that room. And you just
- 31:52Speaker 1: have the different numbers, the point spreads for all of
- 31:55Speaker 1: these different quarterbacks, and uh, you know, Josh Allen, Mitchell
- 31:58Speaker 1: Trubisky not is bad of a drop off as you
- 32:01Speaker 1: would maybe expect. Well, that's because you're an idiot. Correct. Uh, yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 1: that see. The Nick Foles thing is tough because that
- 32:12Speaker 1: was definitely the spread was skewed towards the Eagles, where
- 32:15Speaker 1: you're saying, Okay, I know that Nick Foles is a
- 32:18Speaker 1: downgrade here, but we're talking about home dogs in the playoffs,
- 32:20Speaker 1: and that's like, that's the only reason I was really
- 32:22Speaker 1: all in on the Eagles. I love the value of
- 32:23Speaker 1: them being I think there are three and a half
- 32:25Speaker 1: a three point dog to the Land at home the
- 32:27Speaker 1: first game. Then there are three point dog to the Vikings.
- 32:30Speaker 1: But I've watched that season about a million times. Um,
- 32:35Speaker 1: nick Foles came in for the Rams, I mean came
- 32:37Speaker 1: against the Rams when once went down. I think he
- 32:39Speaker 1: put up a total of six points, like those two
- 32:42Speaker 1: field goals, or maybe it was a three field goals.
- 32:44Speaker 1: He then plays Oakland, who was horrible at the time
- 32:47Speaker 1: and barely one at home, like nineteen to ten or
- 32:50Speaker 1: something like that. Then he sat. Then he played Atlanta,
- 32:53Speaker 1: where I don't even think he had a touchdown in
- 32:55Speaker 1: that game. I think it was literally first playoff game,
- 32:58Speaker 1: right running touchdown, and then a bunch of field goals.
- 33:01Speaker 1: We won like sixteen to thirteen. Some trash game the
- 33:04Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings. We were losing, and then thank god, we
- 33:07Speaker 1: were playing a backup quarterback in the Vikings. Uh he
- 33:11Speaker 1: threw a pick six and that's what kind of sparked
- 33:13Speaker 1: the whole thing. So it is one of those where
- 33:15Speaker 1: it's kind of luck, but it's all about situations. Like
- 33:17Speaker 1: we talked about, the Eagles had one of the best
- 33:19Speaker 1: teams put together. So that's why people hate on my
- 33:21Speaker 1: Washington bet Um. I get it. I'm not the biggest
- 33:24Speaker 1: Ryan Fitzpatrick fan, but I think fits is better than
- 33:27Speaker 1: I don't think he's the bottom five quarterback in the league.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I think he's an improvement of what they had last
- 33:32Speaker 1: year on a one leg at Alex Smith, and we
- 33:34Speaker 1: have a great defense and a lot of weapons around him.
- 33:36Speaker 1: So that's again, this is why I'm trying to get
- 33:38Speaker 1: people to be in on the Washington football team. There's
- 33:40Speaker 1: just a lot of value in backing a good team
- 33:43Speaker 1: with good coaching, with a solid quarterback. And that's what
- 33:46Speaker 1: I'm looking for here. If you're giving me them fifty
- 33:47Speaker 1: five to one, that's enough value to take on a
- 33:50Speaker 1: team like that. Right now, it's time for a Lizzo song.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Break games anybody with me? I wanted us to talk
- 34:06Speaker 1: about Kellen Mond. I mean, what what are you wanting?
- 34:09Speaker 1: If people could see the way you're looking at me
- 34:11Speaker 1: right now, Freedman, that is the way you were looking
- 34:14Speaker 1: at me, is how I feel about you right now.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'm looking at you the way I always look at you, Chad,
- 34:20Speaker 1: I know, and that's how I always feel about you.
- 34:22Speaker 1: It's a mirror. I'm reflective. At least, at least there's
- 34:27Speaker 1: good mutuality. Yeah, this change, Simon, give me your I
- 34:32Speaker 1: want to get to the best sort of quarterback best
- 34:34Speaker 1: for week one on fandal, but I do want you
- 34:35Speaker 1: to give me your quarterbacks who are worth the least
- 34:39Speaker 1: amount of points against the points Bret oh Man, I
- 34:44Speaker 1: definitely would have to go through everything because it's still
- 34:46Speaker 1: not a pent. Sure who are the starters are going
- 34:49Speaker 1: to be? But off the top of my head, um Man,
- 34:54Speaker 1: because there are some there's just some pure trash gonna
- 34:57Speaker 1: be starting week one, like if any Dalton's the bepening
- 35:00Speaker 1: day quarterback for the Bears, pure trash, Like I just
- 35:04Speaker 1: I just don't believe that. I really do think it's
- 35:06Speaker 1: gonna be fields because the upside just so high there.
- 35:09Speaker 1: There's there's literally no benefit to sitting fields. What is
- 35:12Speaker 1: he gonna learn watching any Dalton? I just don't see
- 35:14Speaker 1: any Dalton showing him in the way. So that my
- 35:17Speaker 1: five bottom I guess. I guess my worst quarterback, my
- 35:21Speaker 1: worst starter. It pains me to say, but it's gotta
- 35:24Speaker 1: be Jared golf I mean, Jared golf Is is terrible.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Um the next one up, it's probably gonna be Zack Wilson.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I'm just not drinking the cool like a lot of
- 35:35Speaker 1: other people. I like these other rookies better than him,
- 35:38Speaker 1: Like even the guy you just talked about, mind on
- 35:40Speaker 1: the Vikings. I like him better than Zach Wilson, which
- 35:42Speaker 1: sounds crazy, but it's all about situations at this point,
- 35:45Speaker 1: Like I like what Minnesota has around him compared to
- 35:48Speaker 1: what the Jets have around him. Um Man, I hate
- 35:53Speaker 1: to do it because I'm high on him, but Sam
- 35:55Speaker 1: Donald Man, we just haven't seen it. He has to
- 35:58Speaker 1: prove it for me to believe it. He He is
- 36:00Speaker 1: one of my lowest ranked quarterbacks every year, just against
- 36:03Speaker 1: the spread. I just have no faith with him, Like
- 36:07Speaker 1: he's been a negative towards the Jets spread number ever
- 36:10Speaker 1: since he's coming to the league. So taking it, take
- 36:13Speaker 1: it as you one. I know people are gonna complain, say,
- 36:15Speaker 1: how is that his fault? But it kind of is
- 36:18Speaker 1: next up my own Eagles. Jalen Hurts, I do not believe,
- 36:21Speaker 1: even though I just told you about him one, I
- 36:24Speaker 1: actually do not believe in Jalen Hurts. I'm way down
- 36:26Speaker 1: on him in my rankings. And there's a couple of
- 36:30Speaker 1: guys I could put here um just on the fact
- 36:35Speaker 1: that they're new to the league. But I mean, it's
- 36:39Speaker 1: it's really as hard to say, but I guess I'll
- 36:41Speaker 1: go um Trevor Lawrence, even though I really had nothing
- 36:44Speaker 1: behind it. It's all the simple fact that he's just
- 36:46Speaker 1: a rookie quarterback with a rookie head coach on a
- 36:50Speaker 1: team that's still in rebuild mode. So I again, if
- 36:53Speaker 1: you're Ben, Trevor Lawrence went Rookie of the the Year, I
- 36:55Speaker 1: can't fault to you. He he is really good, but
- 36:58Speaker 1: just against the spread, I just have faith in him.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Yet I had to see him playing that NFL first Freed. Mean,
- 37:03Speaker 1: you are our draft expert, Kellen mind Zack Wilson. I mean,
- 37:09Speaker 1: you have to go with Zach Wilson based on draft
- 37:13Speaker 1: capital alone. But Kellen Mond is really intriguing. He was
- 37:17Speaker 1: a highly recruited guy who has the dual threat capability,
- 37:21Speaker 1: and so in that capacity, he does make me think
- 37:24Speaker 1: a lot of Jalen Hurts. Uh like a lesser not
- 37:28Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, but like Jalen Hurts really is the comp
- 37:31Speaker 1: for him in terms of what he potentially could do
- 37:34Speaker 1: if he is able to get the starting job because
- 37:37Speaker 1: of injury or because Kirk Cousins just disappoints. Uh So
- 37:41Speaker 1: Kellen Mond, I mean, especially in dynasty leagues. I'm I'm
- 37:44Speaker 1: very interested in him for fantasy. Talking about the spread
- 37:48Speaker 1: for some of these quarterbacks. Agree on Sam Donald, I
- 37:52Speaker 1: think he's my worst rated starter at this point. Um,
- 37:57Speaker 1: I mean, Jared Goff is in that bottom five, four me,
- 38:01Speaker 1: Drew Lock is in the group. Of course, there's the
- 38:03Speaker 1: question as to whether he even starts in a week
- 38:06Speaker 1: one and Teddy starting, But I'm with him on the
- 38:08Speaker 1: Drew Lock. I just I think Teddy will be the
- 38:10Speaker 1: starter week one. Yeah. So again there's a question is
- 38:13Speaker 1: whether Drew Lock even starts in a week one, and
- 38:15Speaker 1: you look at Houston you know Tyrod Taylor. I mean
- 38:19Speaker 1: he's slated in thirty to start in a week one,
- 38:22Speaker 1: but you know it potentially could be Davis Mills. Uh,
- 38:25Speaker 1: you know, a rookie who started very few games in
- 38:28Speaker 1: college for Stanford. So whichever one of those guys ends
- 38:31Speaker 1: up starting, it's a massive negative I think against the
- 38:34Speaker 1: point spread for the Houston Texans. Alright, Simon, we got
- 38:39Speaker 1: Van duels Um week one quarterback props for lack of
- 38:43Speaker 1: a better term, give me two or three y're looking
- 38:45Speaker 1: at right now, Well, there's only four, so I'll give
- 38:48Speaker 1: you all four just for fun. No, I just want
- 38:50Speaker 1: two or three, damn it. Alright, alright, thank me, alright,
- 38:53Speaker 1: give me four. Well would be so fast, I don't
- 38:55Speaker 1: even notice. Alright. For Denver right now, they have Drew
- 38:58Speaker 1: lock plus one forty uh or Teddy Bridgewater plus. I
- 39:02Speaker 1: just told you I think it's gonna be Teddy's job.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I just think that once again into camp, Teddy is
- 39:07Speaker 1: gonna be so much better than him. But it's not
- 39:09Speaker 1: one of my best bets. I have another one I
- 39:11Speaker 1: like better. But if you're gonna bet on this side,
- 39:13Speaker 1: I like the Teddy side. Okay, moving on new England Patriots.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Mac Jones is plus one seventy, very intriguing, but I
- 39:23Speaker 1: would still take Cam their minus five. I just think
- 39:27Speaker 1: Bill Bill likes to team me has there. It's a
- 39:29Speaker 1: veteran team. They have all these guys back on the defense,
- 39:32Speaker 1: all these new free agents. I think they're gonna start
- 39:34Speaker 1: the O with Camps. So for Week one, I like
- 39:36Speaker 1: Cam minus and this one is my favorite bet. For
- 39:40Speaker 1: some reason, people are all in on Winston starting for
- 39:44Speaker 1: the Saints. He is up to minus two eighty now
- 39:47Speaker 1: to start for the Saints. I'm thought that a love
- 39:50Speaker 1: of tysom Hill, but I just think he's gonna be
- 39:53Speaker 1: better in practice and he's gonna do soft that Sean
- 39:56Speaker 1: Payton just by chance might start him just for week
- 39:59Speaker 1: one for the first series, and that's all we need, Chad.
- 40:02Speaker 1: All we need is I got to start the first
- 40:04Speaker 1: snap in the first series. So at plus two twenty,
- 40:08Speaker 1: who I really like that value For the Saints, all
- 40:11Speaker 1: we need is Winston to have a terrible, terrible preseason
- 40:14Speaker 1: and he's back on the bench. So for me at
- 40:16Speaker 1: that value plus two twenty, I love the value there.
- 40:19Speaker 1: And de ending on the forty Niners again, I told you,
- 40:22Speaker 1: I think Jimmy is getting traded. So my two bets
- 40:24Speaker 1: I've done so far, I bet on Trey Lance plus
- 40:27Speaker 1: two forty and I bet on Taysom Hill plus two
- 40:30Speaker 1: twenty start for the Saints. But I I really sharp
- 40:33Speaker 1: group came in and they bet on uh Taysom Hill
- 40:38Speaker 1: at plus three days. Odds have dropped down now to
- 40:41Speaker 1: plus two twenty. Wow. Sharp, I love when you're when
- 40:45Speaker 1: you're like talking about the sharps, betting on like individual
- 40:48Speaker 1: quarterback who will start props. That's what you get when
- 40:52Speaker 1: you come to the favorite pot sharp information. Uh. The
- 40:58Speaker 1: only reason I know that is because, like again, I
- 41:01Speaker 1: talked to these guys. So sometimes I'm gonna give out
- 41:04Speaker 1: bets on you. They're not even my bets. These are
- 41:05Speaker 1: from other people that have done the work. Like we
- 41:07Speaker 1: talked in the Super Bowl that one and a half
- 41:09Speaker 1: field goals in the first first half. That wasn't my bet.
- 41:12Speaker 1: That was someone else's bet. But I bet big money
- 41:14Speaker 1: on it because I trust those people's opinions. So this
- 41:16Speaker 1: is kind of the same thing where I'm just getting information,
- 41:19Speaker 1: I'm relying it to you guys. I have no idea
- 41:21Speaker 1: anything that's going on the forty niners. But if I'm
- 41:24Speaker 1: getting good information that that they are trying to move
- 41:26Speaker 1: Jamie and that's the plan is to move in before
- 41:28Speaker 1: the season, how can you not take that? Plus two
- 41:31Speaker 1: forty on Trey Lance to start Week one? I love it, Fream,
- 41:34Speaker 1: What do you think of that? I love both of those.
- 41:36Speaker 1: And I actually did take Taysom Hill in a higher
- 41:38Speaker 1: number than this. I think I got it around two eighty.
- 41:41Speaker 1: But I think the Taysom Hill Jamis Winston situation is
- 41:44Speaker 1: much closer to fifty than people think. And the exact
- 41:47Speaker 1: same thing with Garoppolo and Garoppolo and Lance so easily.
- 41:51Speaker 1: I'm on the side of plus two forty with Lance,
- 41:54Speaker 1: plus two twenty with Taysom Hill. I really like both
- 41:57Speaker 1: of those bets. All right, there you have of folks.
