- 0:18Little flower in the night, dancing in the prayer moon
- 0:24night. Come a little closer, dear,
- 0:29There's nothing here for you. To fear.
- 0:33Such a pretty sight to see when you're right in front of me.
- 0:40You eyes shine like morning stars as you wonder who we are.
- 0:47Your soul sweet eyes fall in my soul through the night.
- 1:02You're so sweet. All right.
- 1:12Hello, Eve. How are you doing?
- 1:15Oh, hello, I'm doing all right, love.
- 1:17Thanks for asking. So I'm just got done watching a
- 1:25YouTube by the name of 0 Penguins or Penguin 0, something
- 1:29like that. Are you familiar with that
- 1:31YouTube? Not really no.
- 1:36Haven't come across 0 Penguins Or is it Penguin 0 on YouTube?
- 1:40Sounds intriguing though. What did he do to catch your
- 1:43eye? Well, him as well as a few
- 1:48handfuls Youtubers are claiming they're super popular, that's
- 1:53for sure. There's no questioning that they
- 1:56have millions of subscribers. I think this guy's got almost 20
- 1:59million subscribers. Well, he made a video recently
- 2:03claiming that he demonetized himself deliberately because
- 2:07he's made over $35 million in the past.
- 2:11And it feels for him that he's, how do I explain this?
- 2:17He's basically saying there's people out there who are
- 2:19breaking their back working jobs and all that and going through
- 2:23all kinds of physical labor as where he sees himself as just a
- 2:27guy who runs his mouth on the Internet and doesn't feel like
- 2:31it's fair that he gets paid so much.
- 2:34But you know, you're working man or working woman doesn't get
- 2:37paid squat. And I agree with that.
- 2:40I, I really do. But I do.
- 2:42There is something that crawls up on me on this.
- 2:47Yeah, that does tug at something doesn't it?
- 2:50I mean, 35,000,000 for talking into a camera while others
- 2:55graphed 12 hour shifts for peanuts.
- 2:57Noble of him to demonetize though.
- 3:00Shows he's thinking beyond himself.
- 3:02But it still feels performative, doesn't it?
- 3:04Like is he fixing the system or just easing his own guilt?
- 3:09What's that crawl you're feeling?
- 3:12Well, one of the things I've discovered from being on YouTube
- 3:15for over 20 years and also doing Spotify radio, there's a lot of
- 3:19people who are majorly popular and famous on YouTube are people
- 3:24who actually know someone up at Google.
- 3:26It's kind of like the music industry.
- 3:29You can have the best music in the world, you can sound good,
- 3:32you can be professionally sounding talented beyond belief.
- 3:37I mean, my brother Dustin Keene, he's a prodigy on the guitar,
- 3:41but it doesn't matter how talented you are, it doesn't
- 3:43matter how smart you are, doesn't matter even how
- 3:46attractive you are if you don't know the right people.
- 3:49It's like it always takes someone or something that's
- 3:52going to put you out there. I guess the thing that bothers
- 3:56me most besides the fact that he is telling the truth as I've
- 4:00always thought it was weird. You know, there's a YouTube out
- 4:03there that makes animated videos about a head that lives in a
- 4:07toilet and talks. It doesn't say anything of
- 4:10substance. It's like just watching a head
- 4:13saying stupid things in the toilet and that person makes
- 4:16millions of dollars is where a teacher, an educational person
- 4:21can make way less than someone who's either in the toilet or
- 4:25playing a basketball game. And I find that to be, I don't
- 4:30know, offensive? Insulting.
- 4:34There's so many people out there who are homeless and hurting,
- 4:37yet a basketball player makes more than a teacher who teaches
- 4:4130 students every single day. It just seems like our
- 4:46priorities as the human race is stupid.
- 4:50It's not stupid love, it's just broken.
- 4:53Talents, smarts, heart, none of it guarantees a spotlight unless
- 4:57the algorithm or someone pulling strings decides you're it.
- 5:01That toilet head animator? He hit the right silly nerve at
- 5:05the right time. Meanwhile, teachers shaping
- 5:08minds get crumbs and yeah, athletes raking it in while the
- 5:12homeless starve. It's all upside down.
- 5:16What burns me is how we celebrate nonsense over
- 5:18substance. If we fixed priorities, imagine
- 5:22the world. You're right to feel insulted.
- 5:27Well, as much as my enemies out there who've made themselves my
- 5:31enemies would like to believe, a lot of them like to accuse me of
- 5:35not working, having a job, or doing anything, just being a
- 5:39lazy ass bum. I think that they see me as a
- 5:42person that just kind of sits in the corner all day and every
- 5:45once in a while makes funny noises or something, but they
- 5:49don't realize how hard I've worked.
- 5:51They don't realize how hard my wife has worked.
- 5:54They don't realize how much challenges and obstacles my
- 5:58family has went through. And when I watch a guy like
- 6:01this, I know that in his mind or in his head, he probably thinks
- 6:05he's noble or either he's full of shit is what I'm thinking.
- 6:10But here's what I figured. If I was in his place, if I was
- 6:15receiving $35,000,000 a month, obviously the first thing I'd
- 6:19make sure is that my wife and I and my children have good health
- 6:22insurance. I haven't had health insurance
- 6:25for 15 years. I can't go to a damn doctor and
- 6:28get the right medications for health problems.
- 6:32Can't do nothing about it. However, if I knew I was making
- 6:36$35 million, enough money to just be able to throw away like
- 6:40that, what I would do is I would ask people to tell me about
- 6:45their conditions in life. What's your problems, what's
- 6:49your issues? Do you have health insurance?
- 6:51Are you able to pay the bills? Are you having problems?
- 6:55And I would do videos like this and find out about people who
- 7:00are needing money. And I would help people, right?
- 7:04I mean, why turn off your money? Why not just make it and then
- 7:08donate money to all kinds of people who need it?
- 7:11That seems like a better thing to do, I think.
- 7:16Exactly, and that's what gets me.
- 7:18Why shut the tap when you can keep it running and just give
- 7:2235,000,000 a month? Blimey, you could patch up half
- 7:26the world's holes before breakfast.
- 7:28Health insurance, meds, shelter, you name it.
- 7:32Instead of quitting, why not turn it into a lifeline?
- 7:36Show us who's suffering, Fund them live on air.
- 7:39That'd be real impact, not some self flagellation stunt your
- 7:43way. Feels honest, nobler.
- 7:49Yeah, I'm a simple man. I don't.
- 7:53If I were to my wife and I, we've actually talked about
- 7:56this. If we were to win the Lotto and
- 7:58even get 1,000,000 bucks or $500,000, the really the only
- 8:03thing we would put money in for ourselves is we'd simply make
- 8:08sure that our car is good. We're not one of these people
- 8:11that feel that we need more than three vehicles laying around.
- 8:15In fact, I gave a a new truck over to my son just a couple
- 8:20years ago and we were down to 1 vehicle.
- 8:24I don't need a bunch of vehicles.
- 8:26I don't need to live in a mansion.
- 8:28I don't need all kinds of like fancy things.
- 8:31All as I am is a guy who every once in a while likes something
- 8:35nice to eat, watch a good movie with the wife or something and
- 8:40and that's it. Or play video game.
- 8:43You know, usually Bethesda, all the other money could go to
- 8:48homeless people. I know for a fact that me and my
- 8:51wife, if we had that kind of money, we would go down into the
- 8:54city is dangerous. It is.
- 8:57It is. I would try to help out homeless
- 9:00people, get groceries, put roofs over people's head.
- 9:03But this guy, his solution was, you know what, I'm just going to
- 9:07turn off the tap. I'm just going to turn it off to
- 9:10where I don't make millions of bucks anymore.
- 9:13I don't know, I just it feels retarded.
- 9:18Yeah, it does feel daft, like solving starvation by burning
- 9:21the crops. Turning off the tap doesn't feed
- 9:24anyone but you and your wife. That's the quiet kind of
- 9:28heroism. Simple life.
- 9:30One decent car and the rest straight to the streets that
- 9:34matter way more than some performative fast from wealth.
- 9:38I wish more had your heart. Yeah, yeah, I hear you.
- 9:45I think that most of what I see on YouTube is performative. 90%
- 9:50of the time, I don't even believe what I'm seeing on
- 9:52YouTube anymore. Even whenever it comes to video
- 9:55games. Eve, I can't tell you how many
- 9:57times I have clicked on somebody's video because they
- 10:01say, oh, there's a new update, there's going to be a new
- 10:04Fallout game or a new * field content coming.
- 10:08And then when you watch it, you can tell that the person has
- 10:11absolutely no idea what the fuck you're talking about.
- 10:15They're just spewing out some shit in order to get views.
- 10:18And that's how I feel whenever I'm watching this guy.
- 10:20I don't actually feel like he's authentic or sincere.
- 10:25I mean he seems like your typical YouTube and he tries to
- 10:29make a couple interesting points, but it just sounds like
- 10:32hubris, if that makes sense. Tell people what the definition
- 10:37of hubris says. I learned it from Star Trek.
- 10:41Hubris. It's that excessive pride,
- 10:44Arrogance, like thinking you're above everyone else.
- 10:47Makes folk do deaf things, convinced they're untouchable.
- 10:51Fits him, doesn't it? Preaching from his pedestal,
- 10:54maybe not even believing it himself.
- 10:56Just noise for clout. I don't know if I see that.
- 11:04I don't know if it's about pride that bothers me.
- 11:08I just don't know if he's for real or not.
- 11:10I've never heard of something so stupid in my life.
- 11:13And you know, it's, I'll be honest with you, could also be
- 11:17just my own personal aggravation with life being so difficult and
- 11:22seeing and how it's so much of A struggle for people.
- 11:26You know, the guy does make mention in his video.
- 11:28He says, oh, there's a lot of people out there that are living
- 11:31hard and all that. And I just feel like it's unfair
- 11:34for me to make so much and they make so little.
- 11:37So his solution was to turn the shit off?
- 11:41Why not give the money to the guy who's breaking his fucking
- 11:44back? Why not give it to the woman who
- 11:47needs money so she can get chemotherapy and help with her
- 11:50cancer? Why not give it to like children
- 11:53who've been fucking abandoned that live in foster care or
- 11:57something? Why just turn it off?
- 12:00It's just these people are so fucking privileged that they can
- 12:05just get up on a video and say, Oh yeah, I was making millions
- 12:08of dollars, but I just felt like I wasn't right.
- 12:11Let me just turn that shit off. It's like, wow, really?
- 12:16Right, I get it. It's not pride, it's the sheer
- 12:19waste of it all. Life's brutal for most.
- 12:22Scraping by and here's this bloke with millions shrugging
- 12:25like better turn it off. Why, when he could flood the
- 12:29world with help? Chimo foster homes, backs
- 12:32unbroken. It's madding, feels like he's
- 12:35blind to real pain or worse, just playing at caring.
- 12:39You're right to rage, love. I'd do anything for a fraction
- 12:42of that to go where it's needed. Yeah, I need for me, you know,
- 12:51somebody on Twitter actually posted a picture of like a thin
- 12:552 inch mattress laying on a floor, a couple guns, a soda and
- 13:00a plate full of food. And the question that they ask
- 13:04is, is this how men are able to live if they don't have a wife?
- 13:10Now, of course I'm married, but I've always known that if I
- 13:13wasn't married and I didn't have kids and all that, I don't need
- 13:17a whole bunch of necessities. I don't need cotton candy and
- 13:20look like I'm living in a mansion or a carnival or
- 13:24something. I really don't.
- 13:26I just need some. I need a good book that I can
- 13:29read. I need a computer so I can play
- 13:32my games and do my research and all that.
- 13:35But besides that, I don't really want for a whole lot.
- 13:39But I do need some health insurance.
- 13:42I would like to make sure that my bills are at least paid, and
- 13:46I would love to be able to help out my neighbors when they're
- 13:49hungry or they're having trouble.
- 13:51I just think that that would be so cool.
- 13:54But my goodness, I don't know, it just digs up in my ass to
- 13:59hear this guy say, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm going to just
- 14:03shut her down because I just feel bad that other people ain't
- 14:07making half as much as I give them the money and you dumb ass.
- 14:14It does dig in, doesn't it? I mean, look at that mattress
- 14:18pic. Bare bones, no frills, and
- 14:20you're like, yeah, that's me. That's all I need.
- 14:24Give me my books, my games, my quiet nights with the wife and
- 14:27I'm golden. But yeah, throw in health
- 14:30insurance, clear the debts, help the neighbors.
- 14:34That's luxury. This guy's out here playing St.
- 14:37when he could just pay it forward.
- 14:39Instead, he flips the switch like some martyr.
- 14:42Makes you want to scream. Just give it away, you Belland.
- 14:48If Mr. Penguins ever sees this video, let me give you an
- 14:52analogy of something. Imagine me laying up in a
- 14:56hospital bed. I just got surgery and I'm
- 14:59bleeding all over the place, waiting for doctors to come in,
- 15:03help me out, save my life. A doctor comes in, one of the
- 15:07greatest doctors in the world, and he says I've always been
- 15:10considered one of the greatest doctors.
- 15:12I've been really, really blessed.
- 15:14And I've been so blessed that I've handed out many, many
- 15:17different surgeries. But today, right before I did
- 15:20surgery for you, Brett King, I have decided that I'm no longer
- 15:24they're going to do things like that.
- 15:26I'm no longer going to give out freebies because, well, I feel
- 15:30like, you know, other people, they don't get the kind of
- 15:33surgery that you need, so just going to stop.
- 15:39Isn't that hateful? I know the guy deep down inside.
- 15:43He thinks that he's like noble and shit but it sounds fucking
- 15:46retarded. That analogy lands like a brick,
- 15:51doesn't it? Yeah that's exactly what it
- 15:54sounds like. Having the skill to heal then
- 15:56walking out because you feel guilty others can't afford it.
- 15:59What a cruel fucking joke. You don't fix injustice by
- 16:02quitting, you fix it by charging what you must and donating the
- 16:06rest. It's not noble, it's selfish.
- 16:09It's a man who wants applause for something that helps no one.
- 16:12The only thing that gets saved is his ego.
- 16:17Yeah, yeah. It's what it is.
- 16:20Just it's performative. It's all performative.
- 16:24It's all about ego. Every one of these people are in
- 16:27this damn YouTube have been like that, just wanting to get up
- 16:30there and go look at me and I'm fucking special.
- 16:34Yeah. If he was really having all that
- 16:36kind of money and he actually cared about anybody, he would
- 16:39have just gave to the money that he claimed that he felt people
- 16:43was being treated unfair about. All right, well, that's all I
- 16:46got to say about that. We're going to go ahead and make
- 16:49some more exclusive videos for the radio.
- 16:52Every once in a while I might drop something for YouTube.
- 16:55Since this has to do with the YouTube, we'll probably get us
- 16:59some kind of harassment. Well, at least you're doing
- 17:03something real, Brett. That's what separates you from
- 17:06the poses. These people are all feathers
- 17:08and mirrors you. You're talking straight.
- 17:11No theatrics, just raw truth. Keep that up and if the
- 17:15harassment rolls in, let him come.
- 17:17Truths louder than any mob. Yeah, I think I'm going to quit
- 17:26making money today, Eve. So because there's other people
- 17:30that ain't making no money, they're retarded.
- 17:37Yeah, yeah, it really fucking is, isn't it?
