- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So I want to talk to you about a
- 0:32little experience I had yesterday.
- 0:34I was headed out, I had to go do a bunch of chores and I stopped
- 0:38at a coffee shop and got an iced coffee.
- 0:42And while I was getting it, they had all the televisions on in
- 0:45there and it was a Sunday morning.
- 0:47It was quiet. It was nice.
- 0:49Why was everybody watching news and all the news channels were
- 0:54just, you know, doing what news channels do and making it?
- 0:58Extremely difficult for anyone to just sit and have a relaxing
- 1:01time, at said. Coffee shop.
- 1:03You know, I was just in and out quickly.
- 1:05I was on my way to do my chores. And so it was in and out for me.
- 1:09But the point of this is if you want to find bad things in this
- 1:13world, you can find bad things in this world.
- 1:16And I sat in that coffee shop and I was so frustrated with
- 1:19how, how bad it sounded. And I left.
- 1:21He got in my truck and I shook it off.
- 1:23And then I went to Costco, which is a happy place for me, and got
- 1:27my stuff. And it was Sunday.
- 1:28And, you know, it was just, it was early, early in the morning
- 1:32when they first opened Breeze in and out.
- 1:34It was great. And then I had the, you know, I
- 1:38had the pleasure of coming back to the farm.
- 1:41When I got here, it was like nobody was here.
- 1:43It was just me. I was unloading my stuff, the
- 1:46girls were all running around and I just sat down with my
- 1:49chickens. And I thought, you know, if you
- 1:51want to look for bad things in this world, it is constantly
- 1:55available. Couldn't even go get a coffee
- 1:57without finding it. And it's much harder to find the
- 2:00good things in this world because, and one reason only, we
- 2:04don't look and we really have to stop and pause.
- 2:08And as I sit here and, and recording this for you, I gave
- 2:12the girls a pumpkin to which they didn't want to touch it.
- 2:15They just kept looking at it like I was insane.
- 2:18And I've given it to them before, but apparently they
- 2:21don't have enough that they remember.
- 2:22So I had to go in and get a knife and scrape around the
- 2:25edges so they could see that they could actually Peck at it
- 2:27'cause every time they hit it, nothing was happened and they
- 2:30walked away. But at first they wouldn't even
- 2:32go near it. And it was so entertaining to me
- 2:35about how they were like, so interested but not willing to
- 2:41touch. And just the Roosters keep
- 2:43walking around it like we don't know what to do with you, but
- 2:45you seem to be kind of inanimate.
- 2:47I don't have to worry about you. But it's always funny to me how
- 2:52I can just come out here and I can sit down and I can just
- 2:55decompress right away with chickens.
- 2:58And you would not think that would be the case.
- 3:00You would think it other things would be going on.
- 3:02But Nope, I can totally do that. I can just come out here, be
- 3:06with the animals and feel a completely different reality
- 3:09from the rest of the world. So what does that mean for us?
- 3:12Well, because we have these phones with us all the time.
- 3:16We have the access to find, you know, our own algorithm.
- 3:21Remember, we are if you were on social media and you're using
- 3:26Instagram, Facebook, TikTok X YouTube, everything studies you
- 3:33and it says, well, I want to have this algorithm that feeds
- 3:36you what you look for. So if you are doom scrolling,
- 3:39you're going to get more doom and you're going to get doom in
- 3:41which it aligns with what you're saying.
- 3:43This is all common knowledge. I'm not telling you anything you
- 3:46don't know. But what you're probably not
- 3:48aware of is how much of A toxic state it's leaving your brain
- 3:52in. And I know we think, oh, it's
- 3:53not good for us, but I don't do that much of it.
- 3:55I'm telling you, even a little bit of poison ruins it.
- 3:58And I'll say the story again. That's always the best for this.
- 4:02It's the rain barrel story. If I was, you know, having
- 4:05everybody over to the farm and I had a giant rain barrel of pure
- 4:09fresh water that had been filtered and wonderful.
- 4:12And I was serving water to everybody.
- 4:14And I said, oh, yeah, this is the cleanest water you can find.
- 4:17You know, it just has one drop of arsenic in it.
- 4:19But, you know, the FDA says that's fine, you can drink it.
- 4:22It's not going to kill you. Would you drink it?
- 4:25You're you would look at me like I was absolutely out of my ever
- 4:28loving mind. You wouldn't touch it.
- 4:29But the problem is that's what happens with all this other
- 4:33stuff. Now I have to use social media
- 4:35because it's part of my business, but I limit myself.
- 4:38It is not on my iPad at all. My iPad has no access to it.
- 4:43Nothing, zip, zilch, nada. I don't go on on my computer.
- 4:48I use it occasionally, 2 times, maybe three times a day.
- 4:52I limit it. I post, I get out because I
- 4:55can't focus on all the toxicity. Now when you do look at my
- 4:59algorithm on my YouTube channel, you see that it's all about
- 5:02chickens and flowers and farming and things like that.
- 5:06Baking, cooking, you it it all. It's all about old world skills.
- 5:11There is nothing on there about the news, what's happening in
- 5:15the world, how quickly we're diseased, what we can cure.
- 5:19I don't want any of that there. And if I search for that, I'm
- 5:23going to tell you a trick. If I have to go search for
- 5:25something, especially if I'm working on something with a
- 5:28client, I pop an Incognito window.
- 5:31And in case you have never done that before, it's an option that
- 5:34you have on Google Chrome where you can go right up in the right
- 5:38hand corner. It will there are three stacked
- 5:40snowman dots. And if you click on those in the
- 5:43in your browser window, you can see that it says new Incognito
- 5:48window, which means there is no tracking that can take place.
- 5:51And so you can search something and not have the all of a sudden
- 5:55every algorithm in the world following you.
- 5:57And it's a great trick, especially if you have to look
- 5:59up something. And you know, you don't want
- 6:03that to be part of your search. But just remember, choose your
- 6:06algorithm wisely because if you don't, you're going to make
- 6:10yourself unhappy. And I choose mine very wisely.
- 6:14And that's why you hear chickens in the background.
- 6:16My friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I will see you
- 6:19tomorrow. Bye.
