Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Uh, Coco Goff, you make your seventh straight major fourth round.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Congratulations on the wind today. You were actually warming up
- 0:06Speaker 1: right outside of our green room and I went out
- 0:09Speaker 1: and I was about to go, go go, and Sloan
- 0:12Speaker 1: ran out and said, do not do that. Am I
- 0:16Speaker 1: allowed to do that going forward?
- 0:18Speaker 2: I mean, for me, it won't bother me. I don't
- 0:20Speaker 2: know if I acknowledge it.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I'm okay, yeah, but no, it won't bother me.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I don't. I don't mind you leaving left go.
- 0:29Speaker 4: And that's a funny story that you told about Carlos
- 0:31Speaker 4: Algorazo of you winning the US Open him slide in
- 0:34Speaker 4: the DM and saying congrats and you leave on red
- 0:36Speaker 4: until you write him back. As your camaraderie actually come
- 0:39Speaker 4: together at this point.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Yeah, we He said he didn't remember it, so I
- 0:42Speaker 3: had to pull up.
- 0:43Speaker 2: The receiver man remember it that he sent this.
- 0:47Speaker 3: So I had to pull up the receipts and be like, no,
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'm not lying. He was like, why I didn't know that?
- 0:52Speaker 3: And so we like talked a little bit, and yeah, honestly,
- 0:55Speaker 3: I didn't really remember him because at that time, like
- 0:58Speaker 3: we just didn't interact with the other that cheer we
- 1:01Speaker 3: were just USA only, and I didn't even remember. I
- 1:05Speaker 3: wasn't evenware that when I had posted that photo on
- 1:07Speaker 3: my Instagram with him in it, I didn't really know.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I remember someone likes brought the photo up and I
- 1:15Speaker 3: was like, oh my gosh, that's Carlos. I had no idea.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I didn't follow the men boys juniors. I just was
- 1:21Speaker 3: USA only and yeah, but he's super nice and so
- 1:26Speaker 3: he didn't take it with a grain of sawce. So
- 1:28Speaker 3: I'm very happy that we got to clear that up,
- 1:31Speaker 3: and I realized that, you know, he's Carlos now and
- 1:35Speaker 3: you're Coco now.
- 1:37Speaker 5: She's always been. Let let's talk about what's happened on
- 1:42Speaker 5: the court, because it looks like you're managing pretty well.
- 1:45Speaker 5: I mean, this is a tricky opponent today. She takes
- 1:47Speaker 5: a lot of balls, she plays some short balls. How
- 1:50Speaker 5: are you feeling about where your.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Game is at right now? Yeah? I fell in the
- 1:54Speaker 2: first set.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I felt I was playing a lot cleaner than I
- 1:56Speaker 3: did the last match, and today, I mean I felt
- 2:00Speaker 3: like I could have been maybe more aggressive in some moments.
- 2:02Speaker 3: The conditions changed from the first set to the second,
- 2:05Speaker 3: a little bit slower, especially on the far side, but.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I expected her.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I played her, It's my third time playing her, So
- 2:12Speaker 3: she's kind of one of those players you have to
- 2:13Speaker 3: stay mentally like on she she you know, she won't
- 2:17Speaker 3: throw in a lot of winners or anything like that,
- 2:18Speaker 3: but she'll force you to win those points. And so
- 2:20Speaker 3: I was just trying not to lose the match.
- 2:22Speaker 2: On my racket.
- 2:23Speaker 6: Going back to that match today, dominant first set, six
- 2:26Speaker 6: to one, second set, you go down five three thirty love,
- 2:29Speaker 6: what's going through your head at that point? You did
- 2:31Speaker 6: a good job to come back, But yeah, during that
- 2:33Speaker 6: like you know, you guys, exchange break, break, break? Are
- 2:35Speaker 6: you getting Are you starting to get nervous at all?
- 2:37Speaker 6: Are you still confident that you're gonna find a way
- 2:38Speaker 6: to get through.
- 2:39Speaker 3: No, I wasn't nervous because it's like we're breaking each other,
- 2:42Speaker 3: so I figured it was I was to do a
- 2:44Speaker 3: break at that point anyways. So yeah, and it was
- 2:48Speaker 3: one of those matches like, Okay, if I lose that set,
- 2:50Speaker 3: I felt like I knew what I needed to do
- 2:52Speaker 3: to win the third set. Obviously, I was trying to
- 2:54Speaker 3: get it into two sets, but you know, I try
- 2:58Speaker 3: not to panic, especially when you're up like a set.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It's like the pressure is on them and.
- 3:02Speaker 6: I got house money.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit like that. I mean you don't
- 3:05Speaker 2: want to think of it like always.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Because anything can happen, but especially I just think of
- 3:09Speaker 3: it in that perspective that I'm sure she would much
- 3:11Speaker 3: rather be up a set than uh, you know, serving
- 3:14Speaker 3: for it.
- 3:14Speaker 7: So yeah, well you're coming into this event with a
- 3:17Speaker 7: lot of momentum, not only back to back finals in
- 3:20Speaker 7: Madrid and Row one thousands, but also the escape room
- 3:22Speaker 7: last night, so you got a lot of momentum going
- 3:24Speaker 7: for you. Do you feel like this is your best
- 3:27Speaker 7: feeling coming into this role.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And girls, Yes and no.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I felt pretty good when I made the final that year.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I felt pretty confident. But for sure, I would say
- 3:36Speaker 3: definitely on a mentality aspect, yeah, I think that I
- 3:39Speaker 3: have the you know, belief that I can beat the
- 3:41Speaker 3: top players, and I have the last couple of weeks,
- 3:44Speaker 3: So yeah, I think I feel great going into it,
- 3:46Speaker 3: but obviously just taking it one match out of time.
- 3:48Speaker 5: I know, we got to run because we got to
- 3:49Speaker 5: get to joke of it.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Do you think this is your best service?
- 3:52Speaker 5: I mean, you can play in anything, obviously, would you say,
- 3:54Speaker 5: Clay is your best.
- 3:57Speaker 2: US I always thought that.
- 4:00Speaker 3: First when I was younger, I thought it was hard
- 4:02Speaker 3: just being American, And then I always thought that for
- 4:05Speaker 3: some reason, my first lamb would be on clay, so
- 4:08Speaker 3: that US open was very low.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Kiah shock to me.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Too, so I would say, I definitely think.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Clay is my best surface.
- 4:14Speaker 3: But then sometimes, like matches today, I wish the ball
- 4:17Speaker 3: was going.
- 4:18Speaker 2: A little bit faster in the court.
- 4:20Speaker 3: So I guess it depends on who I play too.
- 4:22Speaker 6: Look, can I get one more in? We saw after
- 4:24Speaker 6: your match Sloan Stephen asked you about the escape room
- 4:26Speaker 6: you got out with ten minutes left. How'd you k
- 4:28Speaker 6: not got out? Is that negative energy coming into the
- 4:30Speaker 6: match today?
- 4:31Speaker 2: That's why I had Yeah, Yeah, it depends who you ask.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I've noticed that when i've I've done some escape rooms
- 4:39Speaker 3: with Taylor and he's kind of superstitious, so I felt
- 4:42Speaker 3: a little pressure that we had to get out of
- 4:43Speaker 3: those rooms during the night a cup. But me though,
- 4:45Speaker 3: I was just all fun and games and yeah, honestly
- 4:48Speaker 3: I felt like I got really lucky. So one of
- 4:51Speaker 3: the last clues, I literally just pulled the cold because
- 4:54Speaker 3: I was like, we're not going to get out, so
- 4:55Speaker 3: I was like, let.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Me just guess, and on first try I got it.
- 4:57Speaker 2: The lady was like, you.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Should play digit it was like six or just random
- 5:03Speaker 3: well because it was like, oh, you had a list
- 5:05Speaker 3: of like sixty codes and we had like three minutes left.
- 5:07Speaker 3: So I was just like, let me just try one.
- 5:09Speaker 3: We're not going to figure it out. So then I
- 5:10Speaker 3: got a little word. I was like, maybe I used
- 5:12Speaker 3: tole my luck and Escape Room, and honestly today I
- 5:14Speaker 3: kind of felt like that on those few breakpoints she
- 5:16Speaker 3: was hitting the back of the line and then let corn.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I was like, I.
- 5:19Speaker 6: Used it all on the Escape Room.
- 5:21Speaker 1: One quick thing before we go, and Djokovic is about
- 5:24Speaker 1: to start stretching. We had been up here last night
- 5:26Speaker 1: and he was talking about how it feels very American
- 5:28Speaker 1: right now, and it feels like a lot of people
- 5:30Speaker 1: at home are watching a lot of people are watching
- 5:32Speaker 1: right now. I'm curious, what would you say to all
- 5:34Speaker 1: the people, what an amazing run for the American women,
- 5:37Speaker 1: amazing run thus far from American women. What would you
- 5:39Speaker 1: say to people back at home, whether it's Atlanta or Florida,
- 5:42Speaker 1: about what's going on here right now?
- 5:43Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 5:43Speaker 2: I think it's very special.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And you know, this is typically a tournament we maybe
- 5:48Speaker 3: don't have the best performance in as a country, so
- 5:51Speaker 3: to have so many doing well, not only on the
- 5:53Speaker 3: women's side, on the men, it does feel very American.
- 5:55Speaker 3: And we're all rooting for each other. And yeah, I
- 5:58Speaker 3: mean I'm there to support.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Them and whatever they need or anything.
- 6:01Speaker 3: And yeah, I think when you see other people doing well,
- 6:05Speaker 3: it makes you want to do better. And it's just
- 6:07Speaker 3: that extra spirit, I think, and we all root for
- 6:10Speaker 3: each other, and yeah, I think this.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Is very special.
- 6:12Speaker 3: To those who are paying attention at home, maybe those
- 6:15Speaker 3: who are tennis fans, they know that this is special.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And to those who are not, this is very special.
- 6:19Speaker 3: To have so many Americans in the second week at
- 6:20Speaker 3: Rolling Girls doesn't happen too often. So hopefully we can
- 6:23Speaker 3: continue that momentum, especially you know, for years to come
- 6:26Speaker 3: if we have a great group of young Americans. And
- 6:29Speaker 3: it's usually a difficult swing for us, but I think
- 6:31Speaker 3: we all just try to do better, going to dinner
- 6:33Speaker 3: with each other, doing escape rooms with each other, just
- 6:35Speaker 3: to make this time in Europe a little bit more relaxing.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And it's been very special having you here for the
- 6:40Speaker 1: very second time, returning guests, Go Go Go
