- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I I have to come back to something that you said very quickly in passing.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I will not say the names to protect the uh now freshly innocent of original sin.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: What possessed your friend to ask you to baptize them?
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Um, because they they know that I have deep faith.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Oh so that's Oh, but why were they getting baptized?
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: I guess I'm not I'm not why why did they pick up the thing?
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Why'd they pick you?
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, uh I mean you don't you're not a sister of the cloth.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know you did ride around on a Jesus tour bus with your parents when you were younger, going to different gospel uh concerts that your parents threw all around the Bible belt.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Is this holy by association?
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yes, it is.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: This is holy cow.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I and I asked my dad this because I was asked if well, it was kind of a conversation of getting baptized, and then it kind of morphed into Did you want me to do it?
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's why we're talking about this.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Did this person have a baptism earlier and decided to re-baptize?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, because uh actually that's a great question, but I didn't I didn't know them when they were younger.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I I the reason I say that is being born and raised Catholic, I mean, obviously I was uh I was baptized and circumcised in the same boat.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: No, that's the Jewish religion.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Uh no, I was baptized, obviously.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: I don't remember.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: I was very little.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: But Well, you never did a your religion's different than mine.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: You never did one when you could consciously make a decision about faith.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: You guys, your religion, you're driving by a pond and Irwin, pull over, you're going in.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: He took her twice.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: You dug her twice.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Feels so nice.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: But for me, it was, you know, the pond in Irwin.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Somebody's got a pond in their backyard with some koi fish.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Baptize her.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I'll take it.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: You know, for us, it was in inside the uh uh basilica, if you will.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: And yours is when you're a baby.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, very tiny.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: You make no adult decision about it.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: No, because you want to absolve your well, you don't want to.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, I didn't know crap at that age.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: You're a baby.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: What sins do you have at that point?
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: You get rid of original sin because you know what I think the original sin, I personally believe, is a reference to mom and dad doing the unit.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, I bet you that's the original.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: No, I just put that together.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Horizontal mombo number five.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: 55 years old, and I just put that together in my head going, I wonder if that's what they're referencing with original sin.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Get that sin off of him.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Sin off of him.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: It's covered in skin.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, but then it also, I when I talked to my dad, I said, Dad, I'm not a pastor, a priest.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: You've not been ordained.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Not been ordained.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Like you could not marry someone, right?
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: No, I'm not an efficient.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: And we both discussed it, and there's no rule that I can't do it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, well, it's it's it's religion.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: There's no rule, period.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: It's what you want to believe and take in to help lead a better life.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, is that a good way to put it?
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Maybe uh Catholic religion.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, we got rules.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Thinks that it has to be a pe priest or a pastor or a child.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, whatever.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: We got rules.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: But you're going to hell.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: But for uh my religion.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: We got rules.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: You know, I went and guilt.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, lots of it.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: You know, I went home yesterday and I studied what I was going to say for at least two hours.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, I did not know that.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and would you give us an example not using names?
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Of what I said.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Bow your heads, people.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Yes, our father who art in heaven.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Arts in heaven?
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Arts in heaven.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Arts and crafts in heaven.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: No, I basically was talking a little bit about this person's very into nature.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: So I brought in the how uh faith and God can coincide with.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Are you sure you practice this for two hours?
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: This can sound a little rough.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Can coincide with nature.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: And I also talked about how it was very personal.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: And one other thing I said, I said, uh, God is like a whisper.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Because what happens when you whisper?
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Um, you don't sound like Yale Payne.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: You get closer.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: So you can hear.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: So you can hear, you know?
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: It's like a whisper.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: God is like Optimus Prime.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I knew it.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Carry on.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so it was like how it's a whisper, and like when you go to nature, you're seeking clarity and you're looking for calm, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: So then Did you throw her in a pond in Irwin, or did you, or was it like just water over the head?
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Do you really want to know what it was?
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I really want to know.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: It was a hose.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: This is the worst baptism.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: This is my God, did you take her to the trailer park?
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Most places they here we are.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: We're driving through Erin, New York, where there are random ponds.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: The one in Irwin might be from the train depot.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: That could give you something.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: We could, we could have gone to a river or a pond.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: We could have gone to Kitchener.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: No, you went to the trailer park and got a garden hose.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Yep, pretty much.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: It was a backwoods baptism.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: A backwoods backwards.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And do you want to know what I wore?
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: What?
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Cowboy boots.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, God.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: In the name of the father, the son, and the holy moly! And cut off jean shorts.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: This is not a baptism.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: This needs to be a kid.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, I need to redo this.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're gonna do the baptism now?
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: That or you could baptize me.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: I'll let you do it here in the studio.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Now with a garden hose.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: I will absolutely baptize you.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: We actually have a uh a train.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: A kitty pool.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: What?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: A kiddie pool.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: We do have a kiddie pool.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Um, we actually have here a bowl of sorts.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: It's been here for the the entire We use it for ice, but I don't I don't know what it's actually for.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I call it the bed pan of the radio station.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: It's the weirdest looking bowl.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: It's been here for the 21 years that I've been here.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: And you're right, they use it for ice when they're having, you know, uh a company, whatever.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: And uh a company, whatever.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: And I was thinking, you know, if you'd like, you can do it in here.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: I'll let you baptize me again.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: If you want me to baptize you, I'll take anybody else?
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: Not today, though, because I have to get to a wedding.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have to live with original.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: I okay.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm over the original sin.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: I have to live with my continued sin.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: For the whole weekend.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: The whole weekend.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, I am screwed.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: By the way, I love this.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Dolly would be so proud in that outfit and baptism.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, yeah, weirdly, you're right.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Living like Dolly.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: That's right daily.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Living like what would Dolly do?
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Baptized you with a garden hose.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: I almost brought Dolly up in the baptism, but then I I thought, okay, we don't need to lean that heavy in on the Dolly.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, no, that's all right.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: The Dolly Parton, not Llama.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
