- 0:00Speaker 1: Don't really love to play board games, with the exception
- 0:02Speaker 1: of Yachtzi, which I really love.
- 0:04Speaker 2: You should try Quicks similar to Yatzi.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Why game, But I rule at Yachtzi.
- 0:10Speaker 3: So you'd probably rule at Quicks too.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I'm Megan and I'm a lifelong Hallmark movie fan.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I'm Wendy and apparently I laugh out loud at astronomy jokes.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Today we're discussing Game of Love, which is not officially
- 0:44Speaker 2: part of All Marks Springing to Love line up. If
- 0:47Speaker 2: you want to connect with us outside of the podcast,

- 0:52Speaker 2: are both at Girls Gone Hallmark and at Megan and Wendy.
- 0:58Speaker 1: You can also jump into our Facebook group also Girls
- 1:01Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark. I haven't I've been a little mi i
- 1:04Speaker 1: a over there lately just because I've been busy with
- 1:07Speaker 1: like personal real life stuff. So I got I gotta
- 1:10Speaker 1: pop back in there today just to see what's happening
- 1:13Speaker 1: with the with the people over there. Check in a second.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Some new members over the weekend.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Oh nice, nice, nice, Welcome.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Let's jump into some news and notes about Hallmark in.
- 1:24Speaker 1: General m I'll go first. Hallmark announced their April movies,
- 1:29Speaker 1: which when Megan shared this news with me, she says,
- 1:33Speaker 1: there's seven new movies and I'm like, what in April
- 1:37Speaker 1: five on the Hallmark Channel two on Movies and Mysteries.
- 1:41Speaker 1: We have a blog post all about it. She wrote
- 1:43Speaker 1: a beautiful blog post with all the details on our website,
- 1:47Speaker 1: Meganwity dot com. I will also leave a link in
- 1:49Speaker 1: the show notes. Standouts from this list I'm gonna say,
- 1:54Speaker 1: is the Aaron crackout Brennan Penny joint Brendan.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I agree?
- 2:00Speaker 1: What did I call him?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Brennan?
- 2:02Speaker 1: H See? I told you I get confused there. Brennan Brendan,
- 2:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about. He wore the sexy
- 2:10Speaker 1: Clark Kent glasses in his movie this year last year.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, in his show Choir movie. I in fact, in
- 2:17Speaker 2: our blog post, I put our thoughts after every episode
- 2:20Speaker 2: and I said, we hope we're two things in this movie.
- 2:23Speaker 2: One Brendan Penny and glasses.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I no kidding, I don't.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You'll have to read the blog post for the second
- 2:29Speaker 2: thing we hope for.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Perfect I'll have to read it as well. I'll get it.
- 2:33Speaker 2: We have a new multi picture deal. Heather Hemmons, who
- 2:37Speaker 2: is starring in a movie called Pinch of Portugal in
- 2:40Speaker 2: the Spring into Love lineup, has signed a multi picture
- 2:44Speaker 2: deal with Hallmark. She was previously in Caribbean Summer.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I don't I don't remember her. I don't remember that
- 2:53Speaker 1: movie and I don't remember her. I'm sure if I
- 2:55Speaker 1: googled her right now and saw a photo, I would
- 2:58Speaker 1: know who she is, but I just can't remember right now.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It was announced that the Aurora Tea Guarden franchise is
- 3:03Speaker 1: returning to the Hallmark Channel. It will be prequel starring
- 3:07Speaker 1: Skyler Samuels, who was recently in the Gappy Potito movie
- 3:11Speaker 1: on Lifetime. She will be playing the younger version of
- 3:15Speaker 1: the Candace Cameron role. I know you had a tweet
- 3:20Speaker 1: from Sleepy Kitty Paw. What did it say? So?
- 3:25Speaker 2: The tweet says. Also of note, Candace Cameron Brewery publicly
- 3:29Speaker 2: expressed interest in taking Aura t Guard into Great American Family.
- 3:33Speaker 2: While I'm obviously not privy to contract details, it's often
- 3:36Speaker 2: the case that if the rights holder in this case, Hallmark,
- 3:39Speaker 2: stops making content featuring the character, they can lose those rights,
- 3:42Speaker 2: which this prevents and look, we don't know behind the scenes,
- 3:48Speaker 2: but I like to invent these stories in my head.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And I feel like Collwork's like, hah, you can't have it.
- 3:53Speaker 2: We're making it better.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I mean, who's gonna watch it at ghak anyway?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Right, there is a reply to this tweet from account
- 4:03Speaker 2: at Thurston Romance and it says I look forward to
- 4:06Speaker 2: her new legally distinct borealist coffee garden mystery. I've laughed
- 4:12Speaker 2: about it like eight times.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Well.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Our final bit of Hallmark news, Marita Grabiac, who is
- 4:18Speaker 2: a director, a prolific Hallmark director, is set to make
- 4:22Speaker 2: a third winter Castle movie. Now we reviewed Maybe It's
- 4:28Speaker 2: Cold Inside, featuring that ice Castle hat out. Apparently there's
- 4:34Speaker 2: a twenty eighteen movie called Winter Castle, also set in
- 4:39Speaker 2: that same hotel, also written both most movies are written
- 4:43Speaker 2: by Barbara Kimlica. Both are directed by Maurita Grabiac. There
- 4:47Speaker 2: is a third movie. These are not technically sequels, like
- 4:52Speaker 2: the storylines don't tie in, just the settings do. The
- 4:55Speaker 2: third movie is going to be called winter Castle Romance,
- 4:57Speaker 2: also directed by Marita Grabiac. No word on the writer
- 5:01Speaker 2: publicly yet, although I'm gonna assume that it's Barbara Kimlico
- 5:04Speaker 2: once again. However, it is being filmed in Ottawa, not
- 5:10Speaker 2: in Quebec.
- 5:12Speaker 1: So what's the attraction with this ice castle? Nonsense? I
- 5:16Speaker 1: don't know. I'm just there's no way. I know. We
- 5:19Speaker 1: talked about it two freakin years ago, and I have
- 5:21Speaker 1: this visual of laying in bed in the ice castle
- 5:25Speaker 1: and having it melt and drip on my face all night.
- 5:28Speaker 2: There's just mean if it melts on you, that's a
- 5:30Speaker 2: big problem.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I just would never wait is the plumbing situation in there?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Is there a bathroom? Do I have to go into
- 5:38Speaker 1: an outhouse? I just am I sleeping on furniture? Or
- 5:42Speaker 1: am I sleeping on like an ice bed? Nice?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Everything's made out.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Don't want to do any of that?
- 5:49Speaker 2: Oh joy in that?
- 5:50Speaker 1: Get out of here? Who is doing that? No? Thank you?
- 5:56Speaker 1: All right?
- 5:56Speaker 2: That wraps our Hallmark News and notes. Let's hear a
- 5:58Speaker 2: synopsis for a game of love.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Sure thing, it's a long one too, so buckle up, folks. Audrey,
- 6:04Speaker 1: a creative board game designer, and matthew, a research driven
- 6:08Speaker 1: marketing consultant, are tasked with creating a new game to
- 6:12Speaker 1: help players find romance. Given just weeks to deliver the project.
- 6:16Speaker 1: The pair find that they have very different approaches. However,
- 6:20Speaker 1: as they try to work together, they discover something they
- 6:23Speaker 1: have in common. They each have a lot to learn
- 6:27Speaker 1: about love. Starring Kimberly Sustead and Brooks Starnel.
- 6:33Speaker 2: This movie was filmed in Vancouver and the Maple Ridge area,
- 6:39Speaker 2: and there's some actual filming locations which include Jim's Pizza,
- 6:43Speaker 2: the Chameleon Cafe, and the Act Theater which make their
- 6:46Speaker 2: way into this movie.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I like that it was like you could see that
- 6:52Speaker 1: it was clearly cold, and this movie like I'm shout
- 6:56Speaker 1: out to the wardrobe department for brookstar now because I
- 7:00Speaker 1: thought he looked delicious in every scene, like these nice
- 7:06Speaker 1: coats and scarves and beanies and just thank you very much.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Speaking of Briggs Darnel, he plays Matthew. We last seen
- 7:16Speaker 1: him in Holiday Heritage during last year's countown to Christmas.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Prior that, he was in Advice to Love buy in
- 7:23Speaker 1: a Winter Getaway.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You know, I noted that we here at Girls Gone
- 7:28Speaker 2: Homework first saw him in a Winter Getaway and I
- 7:30Speaker 2: feel like it's only been up for Brooks Darnell since then.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I agree, and I have a lot more to say
- 7:35Speaker 1: about him a little bit later.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Okay. This movie was directed by Jason Bork. He has
- 7:40Speaker 2: fifty three directing credits, including quite recently A Fair Bit
- 7:44Speaker 2: of Hallmark, My Christmas Family Tree and a Tale of
- 7:47Speaker 2: Two Christmases.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Back to Kimberly sessaid, of course, she plays Audrey. We
- 7:52Speaker 1: last seen her, we last seen her, we last saw her.
- 7:56Speaker 2: What is it?
- 7:56Speaker 1: What's the right?
- 7:57Speaker 2: We saw you wouldn't say, we see just dropped? We
- 8:03Speaker 2: saw we.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Last saw her in Lights Camera Christmas, which was one
- 8:08Speaker 1: of my favorites from last year, as well as a
- 8:11Speaker 1: cameo and three Wiseman and Baby, which she of course
- 8:15Speaker 1: co wrote with mister Paul Campbell.
- 8:17Speaker 2: She is currently writing two movies, both Ways with Who
- 8:21Speaker 2: and a non Christmas movie. Please, mister Paul Campbell.
- 8:24Speaker 1: She's writing two movies with Paul Campbell right now. Yes, ma'am, oh,
- 8:28Speaker 1: this makes me so excited. Okay, where did you find
- 8:31Speaker 1: that information? Because Sleepy Kitty Pop, thank you.
- 8:34Speaker 2: There was an interview actually with Kimberly Sestad where she
- 8:38Speaker 2: mentioned those two things that Sleepy Kitty Pop posted about.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I love it. I love them as a writing team.
- 8:44Speaker 2: So do I. The story credit for this movie goes
- 8:47Speaker 2: to Samantha Herman, who also is credited as a writer
- 8:51Speaker 2: on a Fabled Holiday or Italian Christmas Memories, A Christmas
- 8:55Speaker 2: Tree in Colorado, and Angel Paul's a Novel Holiday, to
- 8:58Speaker 2: name just a handful.
- 8:59Speaker 1: It's so funny because I remember I hated a Fable Holiday,
- 9:03Speaker 1: but I loved our Italian Christmas Memories.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Is I think, oh, a fabled Holiday? I was, yeah, that's.
- 9:12Speaker 1: The Ryan Paidy movie.
- 9:14Speaker 2: The Brook Doors Say movie. I in my mind, I
- 9:17Speaker 2: could not remember. I was conflating it with a dickens
- 9:20Speaker 2: of a holiday. Another movie you did not enjoy.
- 9:24Speaker 1: That also starred Brooke Deorsay.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Right on the writing team as well, we have Blake
- 9:29Speaker 2: Silver and Joey Elkins. They get the telepreak play credit.
- 9:33Speaker 2: They both co wrote Autumn in the City and Unlocking Christmas.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I saw that Joey Elkins is a staff writer for
- 9:41Speaker 1: Outer Banks, which is like a huge Netflix hit series,
- 9:44Speaker 1: so that's exciting.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I would just like to say that the board Game
- 9:48Speaker 2: Cafe is an actual board game cafe. It is called
- 9:52Speaker 2: the Boardwalk Cafe and Games, and for just six dollars,
- 9:55Speaker 2: you can play an unlimited number of games.
- 9:59Speaker 1: That would be a terrible day for me.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I love it, I love it.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I really spoiler alert, don't really love to play board games,
- 10:09Speaker 1: with the exception of Yachtzi, which I really love, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: that's Quicks.
- 10:14Speaker 2: You should try Quicks similar to Yai.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Why game Why Oh? I like Left Right Center too,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but that's not a board game though, So you.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Should try Quicks. You would like it. Okay, It's fun,
- 10:27Speaker 2: a little bit of strategy.
- 10:29Speaker 1: But I rule at Yatzi, so you'd probably rule at
- 10:32Speaker 1: Quicks too. Okay, all right, let's talk about what we like.
- 10:36Speaker 2: No farkle, farkle you'd like?
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So what is your first impression?
- 10:42Speaker 2: I like everything about this movie except for the game.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Okay, we might be on the same path here. Uh
- 10:48Speaker 1: my first impression is there's no wrong moves in a
- 10:51Speaker 1: Kimberly Sasad movie? Or is there?
- 10:55Speaker 3: Oh no?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Oh no?
- 10:58Speaker 2: Hey, I like what you did there, Thank you. What
- 11:01Speaker 2: did you like about this movie?
- 11:03Speaker 1: Okay? I liked the actors in this movie more than
- 11:06Speaker 1: I liked the movie. M Do you know what I'm
- 11:11Speaker 1: throwing down here? Yeah? Okay, first of all, let me
- 11:15Speaker 1: talk about Kimberly Sestet. I think she has excellent comedic
- 11:21Speaker 1: timing and I realized while watching this movie last night.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I watched the first half this morning, and I watched
- 11:28Speaker 1: the second half. I realized she reminds me a lot
- 11:32Speaker 1: of an actress named Bonnie Hunt. Do you know who
- 11:34Speaker 1: that is?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Love Bonnie Hunt?
- 11:36Speaker 1: Write her talk show I a little bit. It was
- 11:41Speaker 1: on in the It was like a daytime talk show, right.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Yeah, And the most memorable moment for me of her
- 11:46Speaker 2: talk show is she interviewed Jason Mesnik from the Bachelor,
- 11:51Speaker 2: who famously chose one girl, broke up with her, chose
- 11:55Speaker 2: and married another, and she took him to task on
- 11:59Speaker 2: her show. Right anyway, Yes, I love an adoor Bonnie
- 12:02Speaker 2: Hunts go on.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I just feel there's a lot of similarities between the
- 12:06Speaker 1: two actresses.
- 12:07Speaker 2: That's interesting.
- 12:08Speaker 1: There's like some dry comedy that they both have that
- 12:13Speaker 1: I really like. And to me, Kimberly Sessif could be
- 12:19Speaker 1: like a sitcom star, I think, and I don't want
- 12:22Speaker 1: to stereotype it, but I could totally see her in
- 12:25Speaker 1: a role where she's like the two pretty too funny
- 12:29Speaker 1: for the husband kind of role, you know what I'm
- 12:31Speaker 1: talking about.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I don't like the lea remeny, Yes.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Ma'am exactly. That's an exactly a queen style. That's exactly
- 12:40Speaker 1: what I was thinking. Yeah, yeah, I want more from her,
- 12:43Speaker 1: More movies written by her, more movies starring her. I
- 12:47Speaker 1: really enjoy her.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I think because she's so multi talented, Like she's
- 12:53Speaker 2: both a fantastic actor and writer. It's like there's never
- 12:58Speaker 2: gonna be enough of either, because she's a human and
- 13:00Speaker 2: who has limits. Right, My notes say, Kimberly Sestad is
- 13:04Speaker 2: Hallmark perfection. And we often talk about our Facebook creup members,
- 13:10Speaker 2: and one Facebook group member in particular sends us a
- 13:14Speaker 2: weekly email after every movie with their thoughts. And I
- 13:17Speaker 2: love this email because it's so detailed and it's so thoughtful.
- 13:21Speaker 2: But the funniest thing is you may remember a conversation
- 13:24Speaker 2: in the group where we talked about how lots of
- 13:27Speaker 2: the dudes of Hallmark have like names for their fandoms,
- 13:30Speaker 2: like the Hyinees grew. Remember, Mike proposed that the ladies
- 13:34Speaker 2: of a Hallmark need one too, and he went first,
- 13:37Speaker 2: with fans of Kimberly Sestad being the Sustuds.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Anyway, I hashtag let's make it happen.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I love it so that was in last night's email,
- 13:48Speaker 2: and I've been laughing about it ever since.
- 13:50Speaker 1: That's fantastic. I think that should be a movement. Let's
- 13:53Speaker 1: do it, Okay, Okay, of course. I also want to
- 13:57Speaker 1: add my thoughts on Brooks Starnel. I really liked him,
- 14:01Speaker 1: truly enjoy him. He has a smile that I like.
- 14:04Speaker 1: He has a swagger that I like. I found myself
- 14:07Speaker 1: in a deep dive on his Instagram today. Oh yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 1: as one does. And I see that he plays the guitar.
- 14:16Speaker 1: He's very creative. There's pictures of him taking pictures, like
- 14:21Speaker 1: I'm kind of into it. And I also saw too
- 14:25Speaker 1: that he's really into like his own personal style, which
- 14:28Speaker 1: I feel like we saw a little bit in this movie.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I was like, oh, okay, are we infusing like the
- 14:34Speaker 1: real Brooks Darnell into this character? Like, I just enjoy that.
- 14:41Speaker 1: But there's one scene that really sticks out to me. Actually,
- 14:44Speaker 1: there's a couple scenes that stick out to me, but
- 14:46Speaker 1: there's this one scene where he is playing basketball with
- 14:49Speaker 1: his friend and they're talking about his previous relationship. Do
- 14:53Speaker 1: you remember the scene? It was short, it was very short,
- 14:57Speaker 1: and his friend goes, yeah, blah blah, bla bah and
- 15:01Speaker 1: he goes. His reply is, yeah, this ain't that. And
- 15:06Speaker 1: I really appreciated the aa ve in this scene, And
- 15:13Speaker 1: do you know what aa V means excellent? I'm glad
- 15:16Speaker 1: you do. It just made me feel like we were
- 15:20Speaker 1: not getting this like cardboard cutout of a character, Like
- 15:24Speaker 1: there was like a real person behind this character. And
- 15:29Speaker 1: I just I just liked it. It just made me
- 15:34Speaker 1: feel like Hallmark. This was a small step, another small
- 15:38Speaker 1: step for Hallmark.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yeah that I love that take. And we've talked for
- 15:44Speaker 2: a long time about the hallmarkification of some actors, the
- 15:49Speaker 2: Hallmark versus reality, and I think that did not happen
- 15:55Speaker 2: with Brookstarnell here, like I loved his hair in this movie. Yes,
- 16:00Speaker 2: ma'am dreads and somewhat unrelated, but on the same task,
- 16:06Speaker 2: you posted a video to our Instagram stories on Girls
- 16:09Speaker 2: Gone Hallmark of John Brotherton Girl Is Romance University Gear
- 16:15Speaker 2: Dance into Snoop And first of all, that did things
- 16:17Speaker 2: to me. But second of all, I would like to
- 16:19Speaker 2: say that it's an weather actor that Hallmark has not hallmarkified.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And I wonder if some people you just can't really
- 16:28Speaker 2: take the hotness out of them. You should go look
- 16:32Speaker 2: at John Brotherton's Instagram. Yea if you haven't seen this video,
- 16:35Speaker 2: because it's something special.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I saw it this morning and I was like, I
- 16:38Speaker 1: am reposting this right away, and I watched it like
- 16:40Speaker 1: four times over because I was like, did I wow? Wow? Now?
- 16:49Speaker 1: I think we mentioned last week Brooks Darnell Wowie Zouie
- 16:53Speaker 1: one hundred percent right. Yes, I'm going to be posting
- 16:56Speaker 1: that on our Instagram later today as well. Yes.
- 16:59Speaker 2: So, speaking of the actors in this movie, I really
- 17:03Speaker 2: loved the Penny and Marshall team. Now. Penny is played
- 17:07Speaker 2: by Kristin Park, who is not credited on IMDb. She
- 17:12Speaker 2: was also recently in Sweeter Than Chocolate. Was played by
- 17:15Speaker 2: Edwin Perez, who was also in Just One Kiss and
- 17:18Speaker 2: Butler's in Love. He Alsen shows that I've loved like
- 17:21Speaker 2: Timeless and Not Tomorrow. But I loved the team of them.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I loved their role in this movie. I loved the
- 17:27Speaker 2: way their roles supported not only the plot but the
- 17:34Speaker 2: Kimberly Sastad's character Audrey. I thought that was great casting there.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I enjoyed them too. And let's talk about the
- 17:42Speaker 1: casting for a second. Quite a bit of diverse casting
- 17:46Speaker 1: in this movie. I really liked that we haven't talked
- 17:50Speaker 1: about that in a minute.
- 17:52Speaker 2: No, we haven't done a diversity check in a minute.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And I think it almost speaks a little bit too
- 17:57Speaker 2: like the startup nature of this I think it's really
- 18:02Speaker 2: reflective of what a startup would look like there. And
- 18:05Speaker 2: I don't know if it's fair to call them a startup.
- 18:07Speaker 2: They're a board game company, but like their offices really
- 18:11Speaker 2: give me that like startup feel. They really like have
- 18:13Speaker 2: leaned into the culture of the company, and I think
- 18:17Speaker 2: the makeup of the office staff reflects that as well.
- 18:22Speaker 1: A real we work like.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Vibe except hopefully not.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Okay, here's I have three more little things to talk about.
- 18:34Speaker 1: What I liked, Yeah, actually two. I like that there
- 18:38Speaker 1: was an obvious attraction between Audrey and Matthew, and that
- 18:44Speaker 1: it was identified like we knew that these two humans
- 18:49Speaker 1: were attracted to each other, that they had there was
- 18:52Speaker 1: something going on between them, and it wasn't like the
- 18:56Speaker 1: old trope that we get like one is a complete
- 19:00Speaker 1: buffoon and doesn't realize right that the other person likes them.
- 19:04Speaker 1: There's no like mystery behind it. Yes, we got chemistry
- 19:07Speaker 1: between these two people, And I just liked that that
- 19:12Speaker 1: there was no mistake.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Yeah, there was no contrived Oh I have no idea
- 19:20Speaker 2: that this other person clearly m I.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Mean, of course we had a little bit of like
- 19:25Speaker 1: she's resistant to him coming to board is different from ignorance.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I hate you, but now I love you. It wasn't
- 19:35Speaker 1: like a full hate, like there was some resistance, but
- 19:37Speaker 1: she wasn't. Like we got a better understanding of what
- 19:42Speaker 1: that resistance was about in the movie. So those are
- 19:47Speaker 1: my thoughts.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Yeah, not everybody liked this, but I liked the you've
- 19:52Speaker 2: got male moment, the they're playing this game together.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you know Game of Girl and free Hugs. Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I just liked that she didn't realize that this person
- 20:08Speaker 2: was in her corner the whole time.
- 20:10Speaker 1: M hmm. Like M.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I think it sent her the message that, like, this
- 20:14Speaker 2: isn't an accident, like this person is on your team.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's interesting. I didn't really enjoy that. I didn't
- 20:22Speaker 1: think it was necessary either, but I like how you
- 20:26Speaker 1: explain that I want to talk about this one scene
- 20:30Speaker 1: and it kind of righted the ship for me a
- 20:35Speaker 1: little bit. Okay, it was when they learned that the
- 20:40Speaker 1: game was getting dumped and Audrey sort of freaks out
- 20:45Speaker 1: right and she's like reverting back to her like closed
- 20:48Speaker 1: off self, and Matthew is standing in front of her,
- 20:52Speaker 1: pleading with her to let him be there for her.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And I just was like, oh, yes, like I love
- 21:00Speaker 1: that vulnerability in this scene. I just thought it was
- 21:05Speaker 1: so good. Yeah, that's all I liked about this movie.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Though, Well, I think that's a lot.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Okay, I mean, my like to list is more than
- 21:16Speaker 1: my wished for list, But overall, we'll get there, you know.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I just want to say that, overall, I found this
- 21:26Speaker 2: movie to be very watchable, and I think that is
- 21:29Speaker 2: in large part due to the stars. I think they
- 21:33Speaker 2: were tasked with a very hard thing and I'll talk
- 21:35Speaker 2: about it in the wish, but to create something like
- 21:40Speaker 2: a board game, it's not an easy thing to do,
- 21:43Speaker 2: and to have that be a key plot point of
- 21:46Speaker 2: your movie, I think puts a lot of pressure on
- 21:50Speaker 2: the movie. We're trying to make a movie, we're not
- 21:52Speaker 2: trying to create a board game. But the success of
- 21:54Speaker 2: the movie is kind of dependent on the success of
- 21:56Speaker 2: the board game. And I think if you lean away
- 21:59Speaker 2: from that a little bit, that's where I really enjoyed
- 22:03Speaker 2: the movie because okay, I'll talk about what I wish for,
- 22:05Speaker 2: but that we'll get there. Why don't you go first?
- 22:08Speaker 2: What did you wish for?
- 22:09Speaker 1: Well? I wanted less game talk. Okay, I am not
- 22:15Speaker 1: interested in knowing how the sausage is made. I that
- 22:20Speaker 1: whole I mean, the whole movie was them about about
- 22:24Speaker 1: designing the board game, and I thought that was really
- 22:26Speaker 1: boring because I hate playing board games that I don't understand, right, Yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and this is what this was like. I felt very
- 22:37Speaker 1: seen when they had like the blind game playing and
- 22:40Speaker 1: the people were like, we don't like this game, and
- 22:42Speaker 1: I was like, I'm here for that, Like I that's
- 22:45Speaker 1: what I felt like. I just that all of that
- 22:50Speaker 1: was not interesting to me.
- 22:53Speaker 2: That's very interesting to me, because look, I love board games.
- 22:59Speaker 2: And there was a scene where Audrey goes to Matthew's
- 23:02Speaker 2: house and his brother and his brother's fiance are there
- 23:04Speaker 2: and they play a game and Audrey's like, Okay, just
- 23:07Speaker 2: let me explain it. I promise it'll all seem easy.
- 23:10Speaker 2: And I don't like playing new board games because they
- 23:14Speaker 2: feel so overwhelming to me.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Agree, I don't want to instructions.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I totally been that person, like we play board games
- 23:21Speaker 2: with people and I'm like, I swear, just like sit
- 23:25Speaker 2: with it for a minute and once you've done it,
- 23:27Speaker 2: it's enjoyable. Like we're a board game family. We play
- 23:30Speaker 2: a lot of games, but that barrier to entry is
- 23:32Speaker 2: a very real thing when you start talking about the
- 23:35Speaker 2: rules and who does this and who.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I loved that that moment with her to your point, however,
- 23:45Speaker 2: that I hadn't thought about there being less about the
- 23:47Speaker 2: game because my wish is that the game were different,
- 23:53Speaker 2: Like there's there's so many great pieces in this movie.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I loved the love Guru storyline. I thought that was
- 23:59Speaker 2: flawless and so well done. I love the idea of
- 24:01Speaker 2: like learning about your partners love language. And I just
- 24:04Speaker 2: don't think there's a board game that's going to make
- 24:06Speaker 2: two people fall in love. And I al don't think
- 24:09Speaker 2: that that is a game that is a repeat player.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Nol is like, oh look, we're in love?
- 24:14Speaker 1: What what now?
- 24:15Speaker 2: What now? Exactly Like I think there's a way to
- 24:19Speaker 2: make a fun game about dating that you want to
- 24:23Speaker 2: play like that has this funny theme. But I think
- 24:26Speaker 2: the board game with the and you can fall in
- 24:28Speaker 2: love while doing it is a miss I agree, okay, okay,
- 24:33Speaker 2: anything else you wished for?
- 24:35Speaker 1: No me neither.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Okay, I only have one digit.
- 24:40Speaker 1: See that me too, Let me hear yours.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Well, I will say that this is not my digit,
- 24:46Speaker 2: that this is a Facebook group digit. See that. And
- 24:49Speaker 2: that is on one of the convo cards from the
- 24:51Speaker 2: board game. They misspelled the word embarrassing, not once, but.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Why get out? I love that kind of stuff. Yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 1: I love it. Eyes. That was great, Okay. Mine is
- 25:03Speaker 1: a really small one. It's when Audrey and Matthew are
- 25:07Speaker 1: on stage at the seminar and there's a voice over.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Matthew is speaking, but he has the microphone in his lap.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Oh whoops.
- 25:16Speaker 1: You know it's an editing thing. But I love that embarrassing.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I know that's a great one.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it's too funny.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Are you ready to rate this movie?
- 25:25Speaker 1: I am.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I gave it three and a half stars.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I gave it three Okay, Hey, three feels generous for me,
- 25:32Speaker 1: even though I'm telling you I love the actors, hate
- 25:35Speaker 1: the storyline.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I don't think three stars is a bad rating. From
