Our current understanding of many fields is still imperfect, despite hundreds of years of study. Most phenomena remain poorly understood, such as markets and organizations. While our explanations are often quite good, they fail to explain many aspects of these fields. The reason for this is the incentives that drive us to focus on interesting and impactful subjects, which mostly center around large multinational corporations.
