- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, welcome back to Bible Track Echoes.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for joining me once again here to date.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Not long ago, I had the opportunity to preach at my home church and it was a blessing to see familiar faces and to fellowship with the dear folks at the first Baptist Church in Dwight.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: In the noise, but as I did so, I've been burdened about this concept of ownership.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: And Lord led me, I've been in the little bit of a series in the book of Genesis, and in chapter number one, those first four words stuck out to me in the beginning.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: God, of course, you might not even need your Bible to quote the rest of that verse, but as we look at that passage of scripture today, we're going to harken back to this message I preached on a Sunday morning to my home church.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope it's a blessing to you over Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we're going to play some snippets of the message, but I would just want to give you just a little bit of an introduction.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we can get into, I'll call them, ownership disputes with the God of the universe.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: You realize, of course, who he is.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's the creator.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: He created everything.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: And therefore, he owns everything.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to look at Genesis 1-1.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if your foundation is shaking, then everything else that's built on top of the foundation,
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: can be in danger.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I believe there are some, not just in the world, but maybe in Christian homes, Christians that have built their house, built their home on a sandy foundation.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: But we must.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: We should.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: I beg you to build your house upon the rock.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: The next voice that you will hear is actually mine.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: You'll be listening to the beginning of this message that I preached on ownership disputes or another title would be in the beginning.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: God, from Genesis 1, 1, I pray.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it's a blessing to you.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Listen now.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: Genesis chapter number one.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: read a one verse here and then give a very brief introduction before the special.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: Genesis chapter number one got to get past the index and the who gave you this Bible page and all the all the place of the matrimony and who got married that you didn't fill out and all that to Genesis chapter number one.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let's all stand together for just a moment.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: and a verse that you might not need your Bible for, but I want you to see it anyway.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Genesis 1 and verse number 1, the Bible says this.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm working as we go for it on a series here in some day mornings.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how long it has in me and it may be until I get to chapter 11 of Genesis 1.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: You're thinking this is going to take forever.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: You've preached like three times, which Genesis 1, we're still in verse number 1.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of good stuff here, all right?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: But there's an important two Genesis 1.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot that's happens in the first 11 chapters of the Bible.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: But what we're going to talk about today is ownership.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Ownership.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: There's a guy, I think his name's pronounced Lexi Pajatnov.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was in 1984, he invented a game called Tetris.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: Anyone ever played a game called Tetris before?
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a problem.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: Alexi Pajatnov was in the Soviet Union and he worked for a government agency.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so he created Tetris and guess who ended up owning Tetris.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: Not the guy who created it, but the Soviet Union.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: Now, for us, we'd say that's unfair.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: The guy who did the work, the guy who had the thought, the guy who put that thought into the code, or whatever, he should be the one.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you work on something, you feel like you should have some sort of stake in that.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: Alexis, you've jetten up, he got none of you for years, had none of you ownership rights and ended up in Nintendo and ended up buying the rights and made millions of not billions of dollars and launched their company even higher into the shadows here.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: But Alexis, you've jetten up, got almost none of that.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if God created all that is, ever was, is and ever will be, maybe he should own some of it, wouldn't you think?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes you have ownership disputes.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: here, you have tech companies, starting to garage and there's two or three co-founders and then there's disputes about who owns and what, how much stock, why?
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Because it means millions or billions of dollars.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: What's more important?
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: The entire world and all that in there is or a few billion dollars, right?
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna look at that.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe there's an ownership dispute in your life and in mind, in the beginning,
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: God, and you were in Genesis chapter 1, go to Psalm 24 with me for just a moment.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, before there were borders, before there were nations, before there were even people or kings, there was God.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, in Genesis chapter 1, I know you're turning away from there, over to Genesis chapter number 24.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: But in Genesis chapter 1, God is mentioned by name in 31 verses.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's mentioned 32 times.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: If you include personal pronouns, that number rises to over 40 times.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like he is the main character.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, is this still a thing?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: Please understand.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: I hate, I am terrible at the lingo.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, is there, like, main character energy?
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Has that ever been said before?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they think that they are the main character.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Is that, like, Jeremiah tells me, yes, I'm going to Jeremiah.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: I asked the crowd, Jeremiah said so.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: But there are some people they walk in, and they think their gods gift.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: Am I right?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: They think that the world revolves around
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: them.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: They've got main character energy, according to Jeremiah, that's a real thing.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just making it up.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: Nathaniel's got, I see the motion, sink in the motion, Jeremiah, Nathaniel, we got it.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: We can continue on.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: But you know who the real man character is?
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's God.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to get that many mentions in the first chapter in the beginning.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: God created the heaven and the earth.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Psalm 24 through there, verse number one, the Bible says this.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: The earth
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: the Lord's and the fullness thereof the world and they that dwell therein it's almost like the whole Bible says and we'll give you plenty more scripture today it's almost like the whole Bible says in the beginning God.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: In the beginning God, Charles Spurgeon said this
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Nature is but a name for an effect whose cause is God.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: From the majesty of the Grand Canyon, to the soaring rocks of Yosemite, to the mighty thunder of Niagara, and that's just all here in the North America.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: All of it says, God.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: All of it cries out the glory of our Creator in the beginning.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: God, the earth is the Lord, but also Psalm 24 verse 1 says, and the fullness thereup, what's the fullness of the earth?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's what's on the earth,
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Matthew 827 says, but the men marveled saying, what manner of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I was talking to a pastor, friend, yesterday, he's got a son out in Wyoming, you know that wind that we got, I think gusts have up to 50, if you weren't directly in the tornado, but they had sustained gusts in Wyoming over a hundred miles an hour.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's moving, but guests who can say peace be still.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: in the beginning, God.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not just the wind, it's not just the nature, it's not just the clouds, it's not just the thunder.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: Psalm 50 verse 10 says, for every beast of the forest is mine and the cattle upon a thousand hills, I know all the fowls of the mountains and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: If I were a hungry, I would not tell thee.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't tell you, we should kids, we'll like that sometimes.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Can you just, I know you're hungry.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, hungry, my name is Dad, right?
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: We know God said he says, if I were hungry, I wouldn't tell you.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Because in Psalm 51st 12, he says this, for the world is mine and the fullness thereof.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: In the beginning, God, He owns the animals, He owns nature.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: What's the fullness of the earth?
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: How about what's in the earth?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: What's under the earth?
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: If the earth is his and stands to reason that all that is in it is his as well.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: In 2013, there's a couple, man and wife in Northern California in 2013.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they had a few hundred acres of property well out in the country.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: in Northern California, nowhere near the city centers or anything like that, and they were out there on their property, walking their dog, and they'd walk this particular trail through their 100-200-acre woods multiple times, and they saw a rusted, the rusted lid of a can sticking out of the ground, and they walked over.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: They never seen it from him.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: The wind had blown the dirt away, but they go over, and he goes to pull on it, careful not to get taken to certain things like that, but he can't pull it out.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's in there pretty good.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's the lead sticking out, and so he starts uncovering and it's connected to a can.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: He tries to pull on it, now that's clear of some, he can't get it out.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: So he digs up, he takes a stick, he digs out around it, finally can get this can, just normal, like, I mean, we with no bigger than a paint can.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: He goes to pull out, it shouldn't be that dense, shouldn't be that heavy, even if it were filled with dirt.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't filled with dirt.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was filled with gold coins from the 1800s.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: They start digging some more, because whether some of them might be more, they find like eight cans full of gold coins.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: Consider, they send them off to, you know, coin, the collector, to to have, you know, grades, coins, there's multiple that are considered the finest coins of that era in existence, because they were just sitting in cans.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them were still sealed and all that type of stuff, and gold doesn't rust in all that.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I heard it sort of heard a man say, and maybe some of you of a certain age can identify with this.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: They said nobody told me about all the rust in these golden years, right?
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: But there was no rust besides the rust at cans.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: They pull them out.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: The face, the, the, the, not sticker value, but the face value of the coins, because they were like $20 gold coins.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: The face value was only $27,000.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: Sold at auction for all total more than $10 million.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, guess whose coins they were?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: They were theirs, you know why?
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Because they were found on their property.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: It was theirs, not just the trees, but what was under the trees as well, what does God say about all that Hagiai 28?
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: The silver is mine, God says.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: And the gold is mine, say the Lord of hosts, in the beginning, God.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty incredible, isn't it?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: To think that this couple, just by the right of ownership became $10 million richer because of some gold coins from over 150 years ago that they found on their property.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's an incredible story, but when applied to the earth and all that in there is, we realize that the entirety of the world is His.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: In the beginning God, it is God's, it's His creation.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: We are His workmanship.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: He owns us, but thankfully, you will never have a better master, a better owner than the God of the universe.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow on the broadcast, I'm going to play a second snippet of this message.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: I pray to help you when you get into some practical things for establishing who owns everything, for establishing what he owns.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: And we're gonna get down to the fact that God, yes, he owns you.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna talk a little bit more about what in who God owns and how that should affect our daily lives.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for tuning in to Bible Tract Echoes.
