- 0:05Speaker 2: Welcome to Wednesday Toby and Chilly in the Morning, ninety
- 0:08Speaker 2: seven point one wash FM. Good news, you're halfway through
- 0:11Speaker 2: another week. The bad news, well, it's not really bad news.
- 0:15Speaker 2: You just have to get through the rest of this week.
- 0:17Speaker 2: But you know what, forget that I even mentioned bad news.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Let's talk about what's making you feel good this morning
- 0:23Speaker 2: before five o'clock.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Why are you feeling some joy this morning?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Because it's contagious eight six, six, nine two seven forty
- 0:29Speaker 2: three sixty one. The glass is half full. You must
- 0:32Speaker 2: remember perpetual optimism today. All right, so why are you
- 0:36Speaker 2: feeling good?
- 0:36Speaker 4: I'm gonna start the day by annoying a lot of
- 0:39Speaker 4: people by saying it's.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Gonna bey May. Oh yeah, you guys, we only have
- 0:44Speaker 5: another day left of this right month, and then it's
- 0:48Speaker 5: gonna be May.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Justin Timberlake. There you go.
- 0:52Speaker 2: We'd like to say thank you to you and the
- 0:53Speaker 2: guys that n sync for that endlest meme.
- 0:56Speaker 4: The meme is gonna be all over social media today.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Oh show block everybody, I dare you block everybody that's
- 1:04Speaker 2: put the meme up and see what happens.
- 1:06Speaker 3: They'll all be nervous. They'll be like, well, I noticed
- 1:08Speaker 3: you blocked me.
- 1:09Speaker 5: I'm glad.
- 1:10Speaker 4: I love that it's going to be May soon and
- 1:13Speaker 4: after tomorrow we're starting and that's.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Lying through the year, which is a great thing. Well,
- 1:19Speaker 5: I don't want it to fly too much. I like
- 1:20Speaker 5: it to kind of slow down for the summertime so
- 1:22Speaker 5: I can enjoy it.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It will a little bit. It will, but you know
- 1:25Speaker 2: how busy we get, sure, it just gets very crazy
- 1:27Speaker 2: around here, which is one of the things that I'm
- 1:30Speaker 2: happy about today.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I was thinking about this, and.
- 1:33Speaker 2: You know what, I in meditating this morning, I realize something.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I am okay, just okay, but right now, and that's bigger,
- 1:45Speaker 2: I think to me than it sounds, because there's no
- 1:49Speaker 2: crisis in my life. There's really no pressure spike right now,
- 1:53Speaker 2: there's no emotional storms that have me captivated. I'm just good.
- 1:59Speaker 2: And it's like my my brain is like, you know what,
- 2:01Speaker 2: we're good. Kind of stay here for a minute and
- 2:03Speaker 2: let everything kind of fix itself. So hopefully maybe you
- 2:06Speaker 2: can relate to that, and hopefully maybe you can find
- 2:09Speaker 2: that kind of joy this morning through meditation, through running,
- 2:12Speaker 2: through whatever, and remember it's always good to go for
- 2:16Speaker 2: a jog when it's going to be may right on.
- 2:19Speaker 2: That's where we are.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Where are you.
- 2:22Speaker 2: What's giving you some joy this morning? Tell us all
- 2:24Speaker 2: about it. We're listening. Give us a call, and in
- 2:27Speaker 2: the meantime, hang out for the news. Top Stories at
- 2:29Speaker 2: the top of the hour. On the way what can
- 2:31Speaker 2: we expect?
- 2:31Speaker 4: Congrats to DC for getting an A on its latest
- 2:35Speaker 4: Tree report card. Coming up, I'm going to tell you
- 2:38Speaker 4: what went into giving the city such high marks.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Former FBI director James Comey says he's still innocent and
- 2:51Speaker 4: he's not afraid after being indicted once again by the
- 2:55Speaker 4: Department of Justice. Now he faces two felony charges that
- 2:58Speaker 4: are related to an allege threat to kill the president.
- 3:02Speaker 4: The latest charges are connected to a social media post
- 3:05Speaker 4: that featured the message eighty six forty seven. King Charles
- 3:09Speaker 4: told Congress yesterday that the US and UK will remain
- 3:14Speaker 4: close allies in defending democracy despite global conflicts and uncertainty.
- 3:19Speaker 4: In a rare address, he also emphasized support for NATO
- 3:23Speaker 4: and Ukraine. Police in Fairfax County shut down a suspected
- 3:27Speaker 4: drug operation at a Mount Vernon Motel after months long
- 3:31Speaker 4: investigation where they arrested four people during a raid at
- 3:35Speaker 4: the Red Carpet Inn on Richmond Highway. Officers seized a gun,
- 3:39Speaker 4: some small amounts of cocaine, fentanyl, xanax, and fifteen hundred
- 3:44Speaker 4: dollars in cash. Business owners in DuPont circles say that
- 3:48Speaker 4: ongoing Streetscape construction and the Connecticut Avenue deckover project have
- 3:54Speaker 4: sharply reduced customer traffic and have hurt sales. So they're
- 3:59Speaker 4: asked looking the DC Council for two million dollars grant
- 4:02Speaker 4: to help businesses stay afloat while the work continues into
- 4:06Speaker 4: next year. And DC received an A on its latest
- 4:10Speaker 4: tree report card. This reflects strong performance in tree coverage,
- 4:14Speaker 4: health and planting. However, the report notes a key issue
- 4:19Speaker 4: tree access, is still uneven because there are fewer trees
- 4:23Speaker 4: in parts of the city despite overall progress toward a
- 4:27Speaker 4: forty percent canopy goal. Forecast for today cloudy sky's a
- 4:31Speaker 4: chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Hies around sixty
- 4:35Speaker 4: five right now fifty four in Manassas.
- 4:37Speaker 2: And that's the news. Top stories at the top of
- 4:40Speaker 2: the hour. Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety seven
- 4:42Speaker 2: point one wash FM. We're next your morning lindset because
- 4:46Speaker 2: you might need a little something that could help you
- 4:49Speaker 2: turn your day around or give you a little extra
- 4:51Speaker 2: spark for the rest of the week. Maybe this will help.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It's minutes away. Stay with ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Ninety seven point one Why Why Chef M is where
- 5:01Speaker 2: you get Washington's variety from the eighties, nineties and today.
- 5:04Speaker 2: We are Toby and Chilly in the Morning and it's
- 5:05Speaker 2: time for us to talk about you.
- 5:07Speaker 5: And your headspace.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Specifically, we're going to share a quote now to get
- 5:11Speaker 4: you into a better morning mindset.
- 5:13Speaker 2: So check this out. It comes to us from north
- 5:15Speaker 2: of the border in Canada. Drake, you might remember him
- 5:19Speaker 2: from De Grasi back in the day. You know Drake,
- 5:22Speaker 2: that Drake. That's right. Drake says, work until your idols
- 5:26Speaker 2: become your rivals. Work until your idols become your rivals.
- 5:34Speaker 2: There's just something about raising your level, you know, and
- 5:37Speaker 2: going to that level of the people that once inspired you.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And you know, the great thing about it is is
- 5:43Speaker 2: that sometimes in life you get the chance to compete
- 5:45Speaker 2: with those people that were once upon a time your idols.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It's just the way life is sometimes. What will you
- 5:52Speaker 2: do if you have to take them on? Will you
- 5:55Speaker 2: overcome work until your idols become your rivals. Keep that
- 6:00Speaker 2: in mind for the rest of this week and apply
- 6:02Speaker 2: it to your own life, or maybe share it with
- 6:05Speaker 2: somebody who might need it too. You can find it
- 6:07Speaker 2: on Insta, Facebook, all of the things, and you can
- 6:10Speaker 2: reach out to us. It's Toby and Chili page washfm
- 6:13Speaker 2: dot com. Find us and share a quote that makes
- 6:16Speaker 2: you feel that extra something you need to get through
- 6:19Speaker 2: the week and stay with us. We're Toby and Chilly
- 6:21Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Next.
- 6:23Speaker 4: How many minutes do you have to be running late
- 6:26Speaker 4: before you start to get really stressed about it? Apparently
- 6:29Speaker 4: there's an average number of minutes, and we'll tell you
- 6:32Speaker 4: what that is coming up next.
- 6:34Speaker 2: And the headline this morning says the average adult starts
- 6:37Speaker 2: to feel stressed if they are seven minutes late. Ninety
- 6:40Speaker 2: seven point one WASHFM. We're Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Only seven minutes. Oh that's a bizarre to me.
- 6:46Speaker 5: That's crazy.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Okay, So on this show, I mean, we've joked about
- 6:49Speaker 4: this many times, but just in case you're a new listener,
- 6:52Speaker 4: Toby time is when we make reference to how he's
- 6:57Speaker 4: always late.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Today fifteen minutes in either yeah, yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 4: I mean he's got time blindness. Part of that is
- 7:03Speaker 4: his ADHD, right sometimes, So at what point do you
- 7:07Speaker 4: really start to stress?
- 7:09Speaker 2: Between seven and fifteen minutes? Actually ten to fifteen minutes, Okay,
- 7:13Speaker 2: If I'm like running someplace to do an appearance and
- 7:16Speaker 2: I hit traffic or something unforeseen. When I see things
- 7:20Speaker 2: get really really close to the time that it's supposed
- 7:23Speaker 2: to start and I'm not there and I have like
- 7:25Speaker 2: ten minutes left, that's when I start to freak out
- 7:28Speaker 2: a bit.
- 7:28Speaker 3: What about you?
- 7:30Speaker 4: I think for me, I start to stress even when
- 7:33Speaker 4: I'm on time. To me, to me early is on time.
- 7:37Speaker 4: So that's like twenty five percent of people are obsessed
- 7:39Speaker 4: with being on time so much that I've got to
- 7:42Speaker 4: be five minutes early to consider myself on time. So
- 7:45Speaker 4: I start to stress if I'm going to get there
- 7:46Speaker 4: even right on time.
- 7:48Speaker 3: That's way too much stress to have about time.
- 7:51Speaker 4: It Nearly seventy percent of people plan ahead to make
- 7:54Speaker 4: sure they never run behind.
- 7:55Speaker 5: How much planning ahead do you do.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I do when I know I have to go someplace
- 7:59Speaker 2: that involves the bell Way or someplace that might have
- 8:02Speaker 2: traffic that I've looked at on any number of map
- 8:05Speaker 2: apps before I leave.
- 8:06Speaker 5: And yet you can still run late. I don't know
- 8:08Speaker 5: how that is. Well, say that I still run late.
- 8:11Speaker 5: I would say that. You know, sometimes unforeseen things happen
- 8:14Speaker 5: more to you than others.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Right, Well, you know that's because I don't build in
- 8:17Speaker 3: a buffer. Sometimes that's what.
- 8:19Speaker 5: We're talking about, building in a buffer.
- 8:21Speaker 2: But sometimes I probably should build in more of a buffer.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I'll admit that. But other than that, yeah, I'll just
- 8:27Speaker 2: be who I am. It's part of my charm. If
- 8:30Speaker 2: you've got thoughts, feel free to leave them via talkback.
- 8:33Speaker 2: We always love hearing your messages about the things we
- 8:36Speaker 2: get into on the show. Taps we can send you
- 8:38Speaker 2: can use it if you're signed into your iHeart Appen
- 8:40Speaker 2: and meantime, hang out right there because next with Toby
- 8:43Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning Top Stories at the top
- 8:46Speaker 2: of the hour, the news Chili, what's coming up?
- 8:49Speaker 4: New research is confirming what many of us already know,
- 8:53Speaker 4: and that is food tastes better when you take it
- 8:56Speaker 4: off someone else's plate.
- 8:57Speaker 5: There's a reason for it, and we'll tell you why
- 9:00Speaker 5: Coming up.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Next, think about it.
- 9:02Speaker 2: With an extra thousand dollars, you could pull a quick

- 10:15Speaker 4: involved a social media post with seashells that were arranged
- 10:19Speaker 4: to read eighty six forty seven. Buckingham Palace says King
- 10:23Speaker 4: Charles was greatly touched by the response to his speech
- 10:26Speaker 4: before Congress yesterday. In a rare address to lawmakers, the
- 10:31Speaker 4: King focused mainly on the bond between the US and
- 10:34Speaker 4: the UK. The DC Department of Transportation says that the
- 10:38Speaker 4: Ninth Street Tunnel has fully reopened to traffic. A bus

- 10:44Speaker 4: major damage and kept several lanes closed for repairs. A
- 10:49Speaker 4: Texas man was arrested after multiple attempts to enter the

- 11:01Speaker 4: A business backed neighborhood watch program in downtown Silver Spring
- 11:06Speaker 4: is helping drive a significant drop in crime, with police
- 11:10Speaker 4: reporting a fifty three percent decrease in gun assaults and
- 11:13Speaker 4: eighteen percent drop in gunfire reports. And carjackings down by
- 11:18Speaker 4: more than a third. Officials credit increased patrols, drone use,
- 11:22Speaker 4: and better communication for faster responses. And finally, new research
- 11:27Speaker 4: suggests that food taken from someone else's plate really does
- 11:31Speaker 4: taste better, with participants rating stolen French fries nearly forty
- 11:36Speaker 4: percent more enjoyable than the identical ones given to them.
- 11:40Speaker 4: The study found that feeling of guilt and higher perceived
- 11:44Speaker 4: risk were linked to greater enjoyment. Forecast for today, cloudy skies.
- 11:48Speaker 4: We do have a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.

- 12:32Speaker 2: app and you hear something and you want to speak
- 12:33Speaker 2: out about it, feel free to do so. Lots of
- 12:37Speaker 2: buzz on this movie, Michael.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Oh Yeah, that opened over the weekend, the biopic about
- 12:43Speaker 4: Michael Jackson. It set a new box office record two
- 12:46Speaker 4: hundred and seventeen million worldwide, ninety seven million domestic, and
- 12:50Speaker 4: has now become the biggest musical biopic launch, beating Bohemian Rhapsody.
- 12:56Speaker 5: You got to see it, What did you think?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Well, first of all, before I went to see it,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I poo pooed it because I believed all the Rotten
- 13:02Speaker 2: Tomatoes comments and the score, which wasn't very good. At
- 13:07Speaker 2: the end of the movie, as I was walking out,
- 13:09Speaker 2: I said in my significant other, I go, this movie
- 13:11Speaker 2: was actually great.
- 13:13Speaker 5: And it really was. I mean, it's a highlight reel.
- 13:15Speaker 2: We've all grown up with Michael Jackson, so we're aware
- 13:18Speaker 2: of his music, we're aware.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Of his talent, his performances.
- 13:21Speaker 2: But this movie took you back to the beginning, and
- 13:23Speaker 2: I felt like I spent an hour and a half
- 13:25Speaker 2: or two hours in the mind of one of the
- 13:27Speaker 2: most creative geniuses misunderstood though he might have been, felt
- 13:32Speaker 2: like I spent some time in the mind of a
- 13:34Speaker 2: creative genius, and that in turn made me feel more creative,
- 13:38Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Yeah, And do you think that his nephew, Jafar Jackson
- 13:41Speaker 4: did a good job portraying him.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Excellent job, good, excellent job. I know this was his
- 13:45Speaker 2: first big role. And yeah, Michael's son Prince was one
- 13:48Speaker 2: of the executive producers or something. It was really really good.
- 13:51Speaker 2: It leaned into some of the complicated parts of fame.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Did it touch on the other stuff that happened to
- 13:56Speaker 4: Michael with the accusations and such later? No, Aha, it
- 14:00Speaker 4: ended before. He only went up to a certain point
- 14:02Speaker 4: in his life.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Yes, it got up to the point where he was
- 14:05Speaker 2: reaching the pinnacle of his fame. If right after Thriller,
- 14:09Speaker 2: and you know, him stepping out and doing his own
- 14:12Speaker 2: thing away from the family, but he took care of
- 14:14Speaker 2: the family before he went to do That was really good.
- 14:17Speaker 2: And you know what, people in the theater seem to
- 14:19Speaker 2: love it, and it's probably because that soundtrack was just epic.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I see Cassidy's on the phone and bethesday, Cassidy, you
- 14:25Speaker 2: saw Michael.
- 14:26Speaker 3: What'd you think?
- 14:26Speaker 2: Oh?
- 14:27Speaker 6: It was so good.
- 14:28Speaker 7: I mean it was like falling in love with Michael
- 14:30Speaker 7: all over again. It was really well written. I think
- 14:33Speaker 7: it did not go to any controversies.
- 14:36Speaker 5: No, they're saving that for the sequel.
- 14:38Speaker 2: That's right they are. And thank you by the way
- 14:41Speaker 2: for jumping into the conversation. This morning, Toby and Chilly
- 14:44Speaker 2: in the Morning, it's ninety seven point one Wash FM.
- 14:47Speaker 2: We're coming up next.
- 14:48Speaker 4: We're going to talk about why so many people can't
- 14:52Speaker 4: stop saying sorry.
- 14:54Speaker 2: You don't want to miss this in minutes, stay with us,
- 14:58Speaker 2: I'm sorry, oh sorry? Why is it that we, for
- 15:03Speaker 2: some reason can't stop staying sorry? Ninety seven point one
- 15:07Speaker 2: Watch FM. We're Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Have
- 15:10Speaker 2: you ever noticed that chilling?
- 15:11Speaker 4: Well, if you're the type of person like me who
- 15:13Speaker 4: apologizes to somebody, even if they bump into you at
- 15:17Speaker 4: a place like the grocery store, apparently it's not just
- 15:20Speaker 4: about being polite. For a lot of people, that quick
- 15:23Speaker 4: oh sorry is actually something that's learned early on, and
- 15:26Speaker 4: it's a way to stay out of trouble or keep
- 15:28Speaker 4: the peace, because experts say that chronic over apologizing can
- 15:33Speaker 4: come from growing up in environments where you were blamed
- 15:36Speaker 4: for things that weren't your fault, and over time, saying
- 15:41Speaker 4: sorry just becomes automatic.
- 15:43Speaker 2: So were you blamed for things that weren't your fault
- 15:46Speaker 2: when you were younger? And is that why you apologize NonStop?
- 15:49Speaker 2: At aldi or wherever you go shopping?
- 15:52Speaker 5: Harris Teeter life in general, I'm overapologized?
- 15:55Speaker 4: Why why it's really for me just to avoid conflict
- 15:58Speaker 4: or being criticized even before it starts?
- 16:00Speaker 5: Like I want to nip it in the butt, But
- 16:02Speaker 5: you didn't do anything wrong.
- 16:03Speaker 7: I know.
- 16:04Speaker 5: I just don't know why you apologize.
- 16:05Speaker 2: And if somebody does wrong to you, it's like you
- 16:08Speaker 2: don't owe them an apology.
- 16:09Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 16:10Speaker 4: There's a lot of stupid little things that happened throughout
- 16:12Speaker 4: the course of the day that I apologize for, and
- 16:14Speaker 4: I catch myself doing it and it's annoying. I will
- 16:17Speaker 4: tell you it's annoying. I would like to be more
- 16:19Speaker 4: like you. You only apologize when you actually do something.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Wrong, and I do things wrong all the time, So
- 16:24Speaker 2: I apologize a lot.
- 16:26Speaker 5: But you know, sorry.
- 16:28Speaker 2: That's the thing, like, if you're apologizing all the time,
- 16:30Speaker 2: then an apology doesn't really carry the same weight.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Yeah, but if it's with.
