- 0:18Sean McAllister: The team now has a new location in mind for a stadium, and a historic hotel casino could be demolished to make it happen.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So what this does, it allows them to not worry about so much about the Tropicana.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: They get a baseball stadium on the site, and then in a few years, whenever or whenever, they'll be able to go ahead and build a new hotel casino.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: It won't be attached to the baseball stadium, but it'll be part of the site where, you know, to replace the Tropicana.
- 0:45Dayna Roselli: And game day in Las Vegas, the NFL releases its schedule for the upcoming season.
- 0:51Dayna Roselli: See who's playing the Raiders here in Las Vegas.

- 2:10Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone to episode 168 of Vegas Reveal.
- 2:14Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: And Sean, we have another breaking news situation to start the podcast.
- 2:23Dayna Roselli: We have another subscriber.
- 2:25Sean McAllister: This is great news.
- 2:26Sean McAllister: I love it.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: It's not quite the breaking news that everyone at home was looking for, but you know, it's big for us.
- 2:32Sean McAllister: It is.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: It's important to us and to our subscribers.
- 2:36Dayna Roselli: Absolutely.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: We appreciate the support so much.
- 2:39Dayna Roselli: Rob Lewis from Atlanta has been listening to Vegas Revealed for a very long time.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: He is so supportive.
- 2:45Dayna Roselli: And then we get this alert that says Rob has now become a$10 a month subscriber to the podcast.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: So thank you for the donation and support.
- 2:55Sean McAllister: Thank you, Rob.
- 2:57Sean McAllister: We appreciate it.
- 2:58Sean McAllister: And again, you can find a link down in our show notes if you'd like to subscribe and support us.
- 3:03Sean McAllister: Starts at$3.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: So we appreciate it if you decide to do that.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: And his emoji was a heart last week.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: Last week we told you our other subscriber had a rocket ship.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: We've got a heart now from Rob.
- 3:14Sean McAllister: Oh, and we heart you, Rob.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: Well, we're hoping for a good season from the Las Vegas Raiders over at Allegiant Stadium.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: And we have a new quarterback.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: I don't even think we've talked about that.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: We can get more into that at another time.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: But Jimmy G um starting with the Raiders this year.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: And it's like a fresh new year.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: So we were excited to see who the Raiders were going to be playing here in Las Vegas because we get a lot of people that come here kind of to watch the other team as well.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: It's like, let's go do Vegas and watch our, you know, Broncos play the Raiders.
- 3:46Sean McAllister: Yeah, I I know I've got family, friends who are always like, oh, when can I get there and see my team playing the Raiders?
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:53Sean McAllister: Um, and now we have that information.
- 3:57Sean McAllister: The NFL has been releasing information about the 2023-2024 uh football season.
- 4:04Sean McAllister: And we know now that facing off here in Las Vegas at Allegiance Stadium against the Las Vegas Raiders, we'll be seeing the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, the LA Chargers, the Packers, the Vikings, the Patriots, the Giants, the Jets, and the Steelers.
- 4:25Sean McAllister: And all of those clubs have big fan bases.
- 4:29Sean McAllister: So that I think those are going to be some good matchups here on Home Turf.
- 4:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 4:33Dayna Roselli: And it's obviously a little bit of everywhere.
- 4:36Dayna Roselli: So that'll be good.
- 4:36Dayna Roselli: Brings everyone here.
- 4:37Dayna Roselli: We were hoping to see the Buffalo Bills on there.
- 4:39Sean McAllister: We were, I know.
- 4:40Sean McAllister: Not this year.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: I don't think we have they ever come here.
- 4:44Sean McAllister: No, because I believe last season it was away in Buffalo also.
- 4:48Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah, you know when they were supposed to come here?
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: Because I remember, oh gosh, back in 2020 when like everything shut down.
- 4:55Dayna Roselli: We interviewed my friend John Kilb, who covered sports, and he was coming to the Buffalo Bills game.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: But that was when they didn't allow fans in the stadium.
- 5:06Sean McAllister: Because there was a whole season played with an empty stadium.
- 5:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think that was the one year that they actually did come here.
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: So bummer.
- 5:14Sean McAllister: Oh well, we'll look look forward to the 2024-25 season.
- 5:18Dayna Roselli: How has it been like I have no idea so many years even since we took it back in 2020?
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: But you found out some uh cool factoids by reading um one of the articles from from ESPN, right?
- 5:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, uh Adam Schefter, who is one of the NFL insiders over at ESPN, um put out some information which I thought was interesting.
- 5:38Sean McAllister: Uh, for the first time ever, we're going to see an NFL game on Black Friday.
- 5:43Sean McAllister: You know, always we see Thanksgiving Day games.
- 5:47Sean McAllister: You know, they always wheel the turkey out, people, you know, grab a leg off of it at the end of the game.
- 5:53Sean McAllister: Um, but Black Friday, we're gonna see a game this year.
- 5:57Sean McAllister: Um also in terms of networks that carry the games, uh, they don't really have ownership over a bundle of games anymore.
- 6:07Sean McAllister: It's kind of a free agent situation for each game of the season.
- 6:12Sean McAllister: Where before we would have, you know, Monday night football on ABC, Thursday night football on NBC or Amazon, or you know, they're kind of changing up that that system to have each game be bid on independently.
- 6:28Sean McAllister: Teams can now participate in Thursday night football twice, which was not the case before.
- 6:35Sean McAllister: Interesting.
- 6:36Sean McAllister: And not all teams are guaranteed to have a primetime spot.
- 6:41Sean McAllister: So those are some of the new uh changes that we've seen as the NFL rolls out its lineup.
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: So how do you get like that's not fair?
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: Like somebody can have two Thursday night games and be in the prime time and like all this stuff, but some another team can't.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: Like, how do you get on?
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: Like, what do you have to do?
- 6:57Dayna Roselli: What do they do?
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: Bribe?
- 6:58Sean McAllister: You have to be good.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: Oh, you have to be good.
- 7:00Sean McAllister: You have to be worthy of prime time coverage.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: I didn't know if like you take the owner out for like uh really expensive lobster dinner or something.
- 7:07Sean McAllister: I'm sure there's a little of that too.
- 7:08Sean McAllister: Let's not be naive.
- 7:10Dayna Roselli: Now, the other day we posted special coverage of the Oakland A's possible move to Las Vegas.
- 7:15Dayna Roselli: You can go back and take a listen to that if you haven't already.
- 7:19Dayna Roselli: We're not gonna get into all the little details, but we did a great interview with a senior reporter of gaming and tourism over at the Nevada Independent, Howard Stutz.
- 7:27Dayna Roselli: But um, it would mean the demolition of the Tropicana Hotel and casino.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: And, you know, Sean, you and I were saying it's a it's a pretty good location.
- 7:36Dayna Roselli: Um, it's a historic casino, but you know what?
- 7:40Dayna Roselli: I don't know that I'm gonna miss it.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: I mean, listen, it's been a fixture on the strip since uh the 50s when it was originally built.
- 7:50Sean McAllister: Um I I think people were really waiting to see what was going to happen with the Tropicana because uh about a year ago, um the Bally's gaming company bought the property, and even then there were talks about renovating it from top to bottom or possibly even knocking it down and coming up with something completely new.
- 8:14Sean McAllister: Now it seems like that's actually what's going to happen, but it's not going to be replaced initially with a new hotel casino, but rather a baseball stadium.
- 8:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 8:27Dayna Roselli: You know, I loved that I used to hang at the Tropicana back in 2012 uh when Sky D.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: Miles was performing in the lounge there, and everyone used to show up.
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: It was uh it was great.
- 8:41Sean McAllister: It was the Havana room, right?
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think it was Havana.
- 8:44Sean McAllister: Or was it before it was before the Havana room?
- 8:47Sean McAllister: Was it Nikki Beach?
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: Well, Nikki Beach was there at the time, but this was like in the lounge that's right outside the theater.
- 8:53Dayna Roselli: And it's not now like kind of enclosed, it wasn't like that.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: It was open, there was a stage, and I know what you're talking about.
- 9:00Dayna Roselli: It was yeah, it was the year that I actually left channel eight and I had a year non-compete, which meant I couldn't work in television.
- 9:10Dayna Roselli: So because I had gotten up so many years in the morning, I was like became this light, late night wild child.
- 9:20Sean McAllister: Wild child.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: So anyway, I used to hang out at the trop.
- 9:25Sean McAllister: You know, one of the things that I really do like about the trop, and it's an architectural fixture there.
- 9:33Sean McAllister: Over the main gaming floor where they have the table games, there is a beautiful domed stained glass ceiling.
- 9:41Sean McAllister: And I feel like that if the rest of the building is going to be knocked down, they at least need to preserve that domed glass ceiling.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: And who knows, maybe put it into storage and incorporate it into a new baseball stadium if that is what ends up happening there.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, you're right.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: I mean, that would be great, right?
- 10:04Dayna Roselli: And so many little things.
- 10:05Dayna Roselli: And I think even us trying to remember, I think that I think the point what we're trying to make is we don't dislike the drop or want anything historic to be, you know, demolished and all.
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: But it has been kind of re-renovated and redone, and it just hasn't quite hit the right.
- 10:20Dayna Roselli: You know, there's like there aren't enough restaurants in there, there's no destination point there.
- 10:26Dayna Roselli: There, like there's one or two, and like I don't think Nikki Beach was like there for a hot minute, that Bagatelle was there for a hot minute.
- 10:34Dayna Roselli: There's a Starbucks in there.
- 10:36Sean McAllister: There is.
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: And the Laugh Factory, which has some great comedians, and it'd be sad to see all that stuff go, but I don't know.
- 10:43Dayna Roselli: I think let's put it this way it doesn't, it's not a necessity.
- 10:50Sean McAllister: Having a stadium there would be putting that land to really good use.
- 10:55Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and maybe you put a laugh factory in the stadium.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: Why not?
- 10:58Sean McAllister: When there's no there's no reason not to, right?
- 11:01Dayna Roselli: Make use.
- 11:01Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 11:02Dayna Roselli: So anyway, we could go on and on about that.
- 11:04Dayna Roselli: But yeah, it's um in the works, possibly.
- 11:07Dayna Roselli: Um, so we'll see what happens.
- 11:08Dayna Roselli: But when we were speaking with Howard Stutz, who has been covering gaming and tourism for years in Las Vegas, I always used to hit him up when I had a radio show for his knowledge.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: He's so knowledgeable.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: Uh, yesterday when we were scrolling through Twitter, we actually saw his article in the Nevada Independent come up and we thought, what?
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: What's going on?
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: This is gonna go on the site of the Tropicana.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: And so we said, we got to get Howard on the line.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: So again, listen to that episode uh before this one.
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: It's the bonus to episode 167 if you want to hear more about what he had to say about the stadium possibly going on that Tropicana site.
- 11:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, but given his experience reporting on gaming, travel tourism, we wanted his thoughts on the state of Las Vegas right now.
- 11:53Dayna Roselli: Well, Howard, I know you're busy working on a lot of stuff.
- 11:55Dayna Roselli: One question before you go, just you know, we cover a lot of entertainment and obviously tourism and things like that, but we we don't dive into the the extreme details of gaming and things.
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: Just let us know how how's Las Vegas looking right now.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, look at gaming numbers are up what something like 12% from last year already.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: And last year was a record$14.8 billion in gaming revenue.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: So gaming revenues continue to go up.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: The big the big thing that happened in what we saw in the March numbers were that that um tourism boosted back up.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Visitation was almost back to 2019 levels, you know, pre-pandemic levels.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: So that's a big that was a big jump for for the for the state.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: It's a it's really the the big events that we're seeing coming here.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, we do with the Legion Stadium, you know, we have two nights of Taylor Swift, bringing a ton of fans here, a ton of folks from out of town.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Obviously, sports, you know, then we continue to talk about the Raiders.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: NC2A tournament, you get a big in March, you get a big visitation bump in the first week of the NC2A tournament for March.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: In March from visitation or the first week of games, weekend of games, but the fact that we had the West Regional here uh the following week, the finals, that at the e-mobile arena, that brought in fans of those four teams.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: So we had another bump in visitation there.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: So it seems we're seeing a lot of bumps in visitation.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: We're seeing convention business is is almost back to where it was.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: Um our international airlines.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's our record every month, it seems, at Reed International Airport, and we're seeing also uh international travel come back.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: So that's where the sign seems to be in the health.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: It seems to be moving forward.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: And and I mean tell you, when Formula One hits, this is gonna be a huge month in November for gaming, for tourism, for everybody with the visitations gonna come in for that event.
- 13:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, I was gonna say uh F-1 is definitely gonna be a big boost, especially for the those international numbers as well.
- 13:52Sean McAllister: And with this A's stadium, sports tourism is going to be bigger than it ever has been here in Las Vegas.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you know you guys hit it right on, and then think about it, you know, you got the sphere opening, uh it looks like in in September with you know 17, what is it, 17 nights of U2.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Um I'm curious to see what the what kind of attendance and and what kind of you know what kind of crowd that draws.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Uh there's so there's a lot of things happening that you know are continuing to evolve and change in this in this community.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're gonna see the Fountain Blue is gonna open at the end of February.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, excuse me, the end of December, around that time is when Fountain Blue is gonna open after all these years.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: So that's a boost on the north end of the strip.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Uh so yeah, well, you know, there's a lot going on that you know could you know though continue to push things forward.
- 14:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and odds are those people at some point in their trip and their visit here, they're gonna be gambling.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: They always do.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: They always do.
- 14:45Dayna Roselli: Howard, thank you so much for your time.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Anytime, guys.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Appreciate you having me on, and I appreciate it.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Thanks, Howard.
- 14:52Dayna Roselli: Take care.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, we have a lot going on in Las Vegas.
- 14:55Dayna Roselli: I think I looked at you yesterday and I'm like, I don't know how it's gonna happen.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: It was starting to stress me out, but I'm like Well, we were talking about all these uh boring tunnels that are supposed to be going under the strip and you know, stadiums being built and the sphere, the sphere, everything like can the desert support all this?
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Hotels going up, hotels coming down.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: I'm like, how?
- 15:18Dayna Roselli: Where?
- 15:18unknown: When?
- 15:19Dayna Roselli: But I mean, there must be a plan in place.
- 15:21Sean McAllister: So I'll there's higher level conversations than what we're aware of that take all that into account, I'm sure.
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: I'm sure.
- 15:29Dayna Roselli: Hey, listen, uh, we talked about the Lovers and Friends Festival coming to Las Vegas, and uh they had a successful weekend.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: It was actually a one-day festival this year.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: I think the year before it was two or three days.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: So it went off without a hitch, no issues.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: Happy to hear.
- 15:45Dayna Roselli: But um, my friend and I, we actually got offered some some bracelets, some general admission bracelets at the last minute.
- 15:51Dayna Roselli: And I live kind of across from there.
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: So I said, let's walk over and check this out.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: I've never been.
- 15:56Dayna Roselli: I've actually never been to well, no, I did go to the Rock and Rio when they first opened the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.
- 16:02Dayna Roselli: That was a long time ago.
- 16:03Dayna Roselli: But I haven't been to a festival since then where they really make use of that space because they continue to use it for festivals like this.
- 16:11Sean McAllister: Sure.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: And we walked over.
- 16:13Sean McAllister: And it was quite the lineup.
- 16:15Sean McAllister: I know as we were looking at the you know, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, uh Usher, Chris Brown.
- 16:21Sean McAllister: I mean, the lineup of artists performing on all the stages over there, it was stacked.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was the place to be.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: So when we walked over there and entered, we thought this place is gonna be moped.
- 16:34Dayna Roselli: We didn't know what to expect.
- 16:35Dayna Roselli: But I must say, it was a chill crowd during the day.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: We went at four o'clock.
- 16:39Dayna Roselli: We tried to catch the end of Pitbull.
- 16:41Dayna Roselli: Pitbull was performing at like four, or actually, we went to at 4:30.
- 16:45Dayna Roselli: He first started performing at 4'10.
- 16:47Dayna Roselli: Um, but you know what?
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: We walked in and it was just like it was so spread out and spacious.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: They had two stages on one side and two stages on the other that it I almost want to say, like when you walked from one stage to the next, it was like quiet in between.
- 17:02Dayna Roselli: It was, it, it was, I don't know.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: I didn't know what I expected.
- 17:05Dayna Roselli: I expected this roaring crowd the entire minute that I entered and sardines.
- 17:09Dayna Roselli: Getting crazy.
- 17:10Dayna Roselli: It wasn't like that.
- 17:11Dayna Roselli: Lots of space.
- 17:12Dayna Roselli: They had misters, they had um, you know, a lot of food offerings and drink offerings.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: Um, they had like restrooms um that people were lined up for, but then there was like GA, which you could go into this like grassy area where they had like more restrooms lined up.
- 17:28Dayna Roselli: So there were enough choices.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: And then they had the two-stage and the and they on one side and then two on another, and they staggered the time.
- 17:35Dayna Roselli: So anyway, it was organized very well.
- 17:38Dayna Roselli: Everyone was well behaved.
- 17:41Dayna Roselli: And I don't know.
- 17:43Dayna Roselli: Here's the thing for me though, I I didn't love the the switching around of stages for me, the like go over here and catch Jojo and go over here and see Chris Brown, and then oh, backstreets over there, like and then Grandmaster Flash, and oh, I want to see 50 Cent.
- 17:57Dayna Roselli: I like the idea of having that many acts offered, but it did get a bit like, well, what if you want to be close for this one, but you also want to be close for this one, and then then got to kind of get in there.
- 18:07Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: It just was a I don't know.
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: I'm not a big festival person.
- 18:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I mean that is the big difference between having like some of these outdoor festivals uh compared to let's say the iHeart Radio Music Festival, you know, when that's held at MGM Grand or T-Mobile Arena, and there's one stage with a revolving roster of talent performing on just that one stage.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 18:33Dayna Roselli: You sit there and you wait, you know, you can just exactly it is totally different.
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: And I guess I haven't been to enough, like or you know, that many f I mean, because you see everyone going to Coachella and life is beautiful and things like that.
- 18:46Dayna Roselli: Burning man, yeah.
- 18:47Dayna Roselli: I've never been, I've never been to EDC even.
- 18:50Dayna Roselli: So I mean, it was interesting to see how it worked, and I could see that people really did like that environment.
- 18:57Dayna Roselli: It was like they spent a whole day, went at their own pace, decided who they wanted to see, mosied over here, was like, I want to be front for here, let's get something to eat.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, you know, it just depends what you like, but yeah, it was a different kind of experience.
- 19:10Sean McAllister: And it was a gorgeous day for it, too.
- 19:12Sean McAllister: It was like low 70s, overcast.
- 19:16Sean McAllister: It was like almost ideal.
- 19:18Dayna Roselli: Better than like sweating and everyone, you know, being thirsty and all that kind of thing.
- 19:22Dayna Roselli: So it was it was good.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: So that went off, and then they're having another festival this weekend.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: Um, more rock bands like corn and all sorts of like heavy, I don't know what'd you call it?
- 19:31Dayna Roselli: Heavy metal.
- 19:32Dayna Roselli: I don't know what you'd call it.
- 19:33Sean McAllister: Uh probably ish.
- 19:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, ish.
- 19:37Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 19:37Dayna Roselli: When I posted the the rundown of Axe, everyone was like, Oh, I'm I get this is like totally bringing me back.
- 19:43Dayna Roselli: So, and uh you know, I want to go or I am going or whatever.
- 19:47Dayna Roselli: Um, so they're making use of that ground.
- 19:49Dayna Roselli: This one is the Sick New World Festival and also sold out in like corn, the Deftones, Incubus, System of a Down.
- 19:56Dayna Roselli: So it's it's a good lineup.
- 19:57Sean McAllister: Oh, Incubus was like my jam in college.
- 20:01Sean McAllister: Really?
- 20:01Sean McAllister: Oh, yes.
- 20:02Dayna Roselli: Loved Incubus, Sisters of Mercy, all sorts of skinny puppy.
- 20:08Sean McAllister: Never heard of I don't know Skinny Puppy.
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: Placebo?
- 20:11Sean McAllister: A placebo I have heard of, yes.
- 20:14Dayna Roselli: Well, anyway.
- 20:15Sean McAllister: Uh so people will be coming in town for that.
- 20:17Sean McAllister: People also uh getting ready to come in town for EDC, the electric daisy carnival, once again being held up at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
- 20:27Sean McAllister: And there's like a hundred thousand people a night that go into those festival grounds.
- 20:34Sean McAllister: Uh you know, many of the people return night after night.
- 20:37Sean McAllister: Three nights.
- 20:38Sean McAllister: Uh the festivities don't really even kick off until after dark.
- 20:42Sean McAllister: No, they wrap up at dawn.
- 20:45Sean McAllister: There's firework shows, there's music, there's art installations.
- 20:50Sean McAllister: It is quite the scene.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 20:53Dayna Roselli: So it's May 19th, 20th, and 21st.
- 20:56Dayna Roselli: Um, they're doing a little partnership with the resorts world.
- 20:59Dayna Roselli: They're doing hotel EDC over there.
- 21:01Dayna Roselli: So if you're coming in, you will see lots of fun outfits up and down the strip.
- 21:08Sean McAllister: Sure will.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: Um, and we'll see, you know, people heading out late and coming home in the morning with furry boots and neon.
- 21:15Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be a great time.
- 21:16Sean McAllister: It is.
- 21:17Sean McAllister: So people obviously come in town for for that type of festival environment.
- 21:21Sean McAllister: Um, something else that people come in town for that you might not expect is for uh to experience the the healthy lifestyle that Las Vegas can offer, Dana.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you were telling me about this new travel trend.
- 21:37Dayna Roselli: And I said, I don't know if I'm buying it.
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: It's healthy living tourism.
- 21:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, and so here's the deal this was brought to our attention.
- 21:45Sean McAllister: There's an online news outlet called The Street, and they recently posted an article about the rise of healthy tourism.
- 21:53Sean McAllister: And this is all based on the idea that visitors will choose their destination based on the Number of health and wellness offerings that they can get there.
- 22:04Sean McAllister: And believe it or not, Las Vegas actually has been catering to these health-minded tourists.
- 22:10Sean McAllister: Um, are you ready to hear some of the amenities that people get here, Dana?
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: Definitely.
- 22:15Sean McAllister: So at MGM Resorts, they have what are called stay well rooms.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: Um, Deepak Chopra, you know, Deepak, he has uh partnered with a technology firm to offer a variety of um well technologies that are incorporated into the rooms that are designated as stay well.
- 22:39Sean McAllister: Uh there are also a bunch of initiatives uh like meditation and yoga that people can partake in while they're here.
- 22:48Sean McAllister: Uh the Canyon Ranch Spa, which is a really, really nice spa, uh also invites visitors to come in and get away from you know the things that you would expect from the Las Vegas strip and enter a sanctuary of wellness where spa, fitness, and food experiences replenish you on your path to lifelong well-being.
- 23:14Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 23:14Sean McAllister: I feel like we should be saying this in a very relaxing, monotone voice.
- 23:20Sean McAllister: Um, and I mean, get this the global wellness tourism industry is predicted to be worth around one trillion dollars in just six years from now.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: 2030.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: That's coming up.
- 23:36Sean McAllister: It's it is one trillion bucks.
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: Wow, and that's up from in this article, it says 476 billion.
- 23:44Dayna Roselli: So that's a big difference.
- 23:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, just last year.
- 23:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, in 2022.
- 23:48Sean McAllister: So as you can imagine, uh, you know, compiling all that money, you you might say, Well, who is spending on this?
- 23:54Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 23:55Sean McAllister: Well, it's rich people, yeah.
- 23:57Dayna Roselli: This is a luxury market, it sure is, and I guess it gets those, you know, people here who say, Well, I'm not going to Vegas because you know, they're just about a different kind of lifestyle.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: They they attach Vegas to go party, stay up late, gamble, drink.
- 24:13Dayna Roselli: But maybe there's a group of people who want to do that, but there are some or a partner who's like, What am I gonna do while you're doing that?
- 24:23Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 24:24Sean McAllister: It gives you that option, right?
- 24:25Sean McAllister: And I mean, I know that uh the Cosmopolitan offers super high-intensity workouts for their guests, and they also have offered in the past yoga up on the pool deck in the morning.
- 24:40Sean McAllister: The High Roller has offered yoga rides.
- 24:43Sean McAllister: You get into a pod and do yoga as you take that half-hour spin around the observation wheel and have you know the Las Vegas Valley as your backdrop.
- 24:53Sean McAllister: So there are things out there, right?
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: There are.
- 24:58Sean McAllister: Not for you?
- 24:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, no, not for me.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: I'm not, I mean, if I was gonna come to Vegas, I'm not going to do yoga and meditate.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: Just pop a few goalie gummies, right?
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 25:09Dayna Roselli: All right, but see, as we switch gears, let's talk bourbon.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: That's the next topic on our list.
- 25:14Sean McAllister: Let's.
- 25:14Sean McAllister: So, John Taffer, who a lot of people know from the really popular show Bar Rescue, where he goes into struggling restaurants, reconfigures things, and makes them successful again.
- 25:27Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 25:27Sean McAllister: Uh, he lives here in Las Vegas, does a lot in the community.
- 25:31Sean McAllister: He has restaurants all over the country, a lot on the East Coast that just opened.
- 25:36Sean McAllister: Uh, but he also has just come out with John Taffer's browned butter bourbon.
- 25:44Dayna Roselli: I must say it sounds good.
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: And they sent a bottle to the office.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: We opened up the box, it's a nice bottle, and it came with all these different recipes.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: Because for me, I'm I'm like, what do I make?
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: You know, what kind of drinks do I make with bourbon?
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: So, so what do we make?
- 25:59Sean McAllister: Right.
- 26:00Sean McAllister: I mean, we have a Manhattan, we have an old-fashioned on here.
- 26:04Sean McAllister: Something that I was surprised to see there's a recipe for an espresso martini made with brown buttered bourbon.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: Oh, we might need to make that.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: That sounds delicious.
- 26:15Dayna Roselli: I've never heard of that.
- 26:16Sean McAllister: I I never knew.
- 26:18Sean McAllister: I always just use like vodka and rum taste things.
- 26:23Dayna Roselli: Well, why don't we read it off real quick then?
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: Because I'm curious.
- 26:25Sean McAllister: Well, I need to scan the QR code first.
- 26:27Sean McAllister: Oh, okay.
- 26:28Sean McAllister: I have pictures that I'm gonna do.
- 26:29Dayna Roselli: Oh, okay, you've got pictures.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: Well, maybe we'll all right.
- 26:31Dayna Roselli: He's gonna scan the QR code.
- 26:33Sean McAllister: Here's the espresso martini.
- 26:35Sean McAllister: They say it is the perfect pick-me-up um to take your espresso martini to the next level.
- 26:43Sean McAllister: And it is bourbon, espresso, and coffee liqueur.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Okay, and that's it.
- 26:48Sean McAllister: That's it.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: I wonder what that tastes like.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 26:51Sean McAllister: I think it's going to be absolutely delicious.
- 26:53Sean McAllister: I kind of want to go make one right now.
- 26:57Dayna Roselli: We may have to do that right after this.
- 27:00Dayna Roselli: Right after this.
- 27:02Dayna Roselli: Maybe we can get John Taffer and his bourbon to sponsor our podcast.
- 27:05Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 27:06Dayna Roselli: So that we can sip on espresso bourbon martinis.
- 27:09Sean McAllister: I mean, I'd be down.
- 27:11Dayna Roselli: I'd be down too.
- 27:12Sean McAllister: Uh, right now, uh, John Taffer's browned buttered bourbon is available in Massachusetts and Nevada.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:19Sean McAllister: I'm sure he's going to be expanding the reach of this very, very soon.
- 27:24Sean McAllister: So stay tuned.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: You can go to Taffer's Brown Butterbourbon.com to stay on top of all things and get these cocktail recipes.
- 27:34Sean McAllister: I can't wait to go to the event and talk to John next week.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 27:38Dayna Roselli: Sounds good.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: Hey, listen, quickly, if you've got kids, or well, maybe you want.
- 27:44Dayna Roselli: I don't know if this is for kids only, actually.
- 27:47Dayna Roselli: Um, but the mermaid school is back at the Silverton.
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: I mean, there might be some adults who want to be a mermaid school.
- 27:52Sean McAllister: Poor mermaids at heart.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: Well, the kids swim with the adult mermaid, I guess.
- 27:56Dayna Roselli: But I don't know if you've ever dreamed about being a mermaid.
- 27:59Dayna Roselli: This is a really cool opportunity that they have over there at the Silverton casino.
- 28:04Dayna Roselli: It's this 90-minute experience.
- 28:07Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 28:07Dayna Roselli: Oh no, fan ages seven to adult are transformed into the famed Silverton mermaid and swim in the casino's 117,000-gallon aquarium, along with thousands of tropical fish and rays.

- 28:34Dayna Roselli: So at least it's after.
- 28:35Dayna Roselli: We nobody wants a drunk mermaid.
- 28:37Sean McAllister: No, nobody does.
- 28:38Dayna Roselli: In the tank.
- 28:39Dayna Roselli: Anyway, mermaid school is going to be held on select days from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
- 28:45Dayna Roselli: And you can make reservations by going over to the Silverton website.
- 28:49Dayna Roselli: But I wanted to mention that because it is a really cool and different experience that they offer over there at the Silverton casino.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, for sure.
- 28:57Sean McAllister: Hey, let's do tips.
- 29:02Sean McAllister: Dana, this first tip is something I'm super excited about because bacon is like one of my all-time favorite things to eat.
- 29:10Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 29:10Dayna Roselli: How have we not been yet to Bacon Nation at the D?
- 29:13Sean McAllister: I don't know.
