- 0:02Speaker 2: And Matt Flynn. Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Dude, they said I gotta come off the bench.

- 1:06Speaker 2: Alright, welcome back in. OTB here on this Tuesday morning.
- 1:11Speaker 2: We'll get you some tape here in a little bit. Also,
- 1:14Speaker 2: we're going to do another episode of Eye in the
- 1:16Speaker 2: Sky a little bit later on. That's our new YouTube
- 1:19Speaker 2: channel where we watch a little tape down there at
- 1:22Speaker 2: the garage. A little LSU football. We break it down
- 1:25Speaker 2: and get a chance to really dive into the play
- 1:29Speaker 2: and not just quickly. Matt kind of loses track of
- 1:33Speaker 2: time sometimes.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And Yeah, I do. I just love it. I love football.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And now he's got a remote.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I got a remote. Guess what? We're going to be
- 1:41Speaker 3: debuting a couple of new technology pieces.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Alondra, I believe in you.
- 1:45Speaker 3: We are sparing no expense.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I saw the look on your face.
- 1:50Speaker 3: We are sparing no expense, people. Told y'all.
- 1:53Speaker 1: $ 38?
- 1:53Speaker 2: We're $ 38 in the hole.
- 1:54Speaker 3: $ 30 on this remote, $ 8 on the app to be
- 1:58Speaker 3: able to write on the screen.
- 2:03Speaker 2: You told me.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And yeah, is there a delay?
- 2:05Speaker 7: Sure.
- 2:06Speaker 5: You told me this morning, you were like, hey, check
- 2:07Speaker 5: out my new toy, and you were drawing and everything,
- 2:09Speaker 5: and I was like, looks awesome.
- 2:10Speaker 4: You were like, that's only eight bucks. We'll see how
- 2:12Speaker 4: good it is. I was like, well, I'm glad you're
- 2:15Speaker 4: confident in it.
- 2:15Speaker 6: If it was $ 15, like $ 14. 99, I'd feel a little
- 2:18Speaker 6: bit better. $ 8 is $ 7.
- 2:19Speaker 3: 99. We're going to figure it out. All right.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Well, I mean, look, we're in the whole $ 38, but
- 2:24Speaker 2: I mean.
- 2:24Speaker 3: We've got to get the viewership up.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Wait, let me.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Get the money back.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Let me look at something real quick.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:31Speaker 2: We need.
- 2:31Speaker 4: 600 more hours of watch time.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's not too bad. That's a lot. No, we will hit.
- 2:38Speaker 4: It after this video comes out.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Oh, you're talking about total or not per video?
- 2:42Speaker 2: No, total.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Because we're at 3.4 thousand hours of watch time right now.
- 2:49Speaker 4: We need 4,000. Okay.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So this next video, we'll hit it. Eye in the
- 2:53Speaker 2: Sky with Hester and Flynn. We got 1.3 thousand subscribers.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It is kind of weird how that 1.3 came in.
- 3:00Speaker 3: So businesses....
- 3:03Speaker 2: Could be you.
- 3:04Speaker 3: That was fun. Prestige worldwide.
- 3:07Speaker 6: I very much enjoy watching film. I would watch it,
- 3:10Speaker 6: and I watch it just for myself. I like to
- 3:13Speaker 6: study ball.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you and I were actually watching it at the
- 3:15Speaker 2: same time the other night and just kind of going
- 3:17Speaker 2: back and forth on things we didn't enjoy.
- 3:20Speaker 6: So when I'm at home, I like to spend time
- 3:23Speaker 6: with my family. I like to do card breaks and
- 3:26Speaker 6: watch film. That's why they all see them.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Too many card breaks.
- 3:32Speaker 2: You said there was a good question in the chat.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Is there any chance that you remember what the good
- 3:36Speaker 2: question was? Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 6: Okay, so the question was asked, how well, so the
- 3:41Speaker 6: quarterback and the, usually the Mike linebacker, one of the
- 3:43Speaker 6: linebackers is the green dot guy on each team, and
- 3:47Speaker 6: they have the speaker in their helmet and the coach can.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Speak to them.
- 3:49Speaker 6: We were just talking about the advantage that the offense
- 3:52Speaker 6: can have when you go fast and the coach can
- 3:55Speaker 6: talk to the quarterback until 15 seconds on the play clock.
- 3:58Speaker 6: And they said, how well can you hear that in
- 4:00Speaker 6: a very loud stadium? Well, it is a little bit challenging.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Taylor actually asked the same type of question at break there. Like,
- 4:09Speaker 6: is the speaker better than just signals?
- 4:12Speaker 5: I was telling you, like, I was watching a Bengals
- 4:14Speaker 5: box switching back and forth between Saints and Lions.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Burrow was having trouble.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Baker, I think three or four plays into the game,
- 4:20Speaker 5: actually had to change out his helmet because communication went out.
- 4:23Speaker 4: So I was just wondering, like, how efficient that was.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Yeah, no, it sucks when it goes down. I mean, technology, like,
- 4:28Speaker 6: it sucks when the Wi-Fi goes down here. And then
- 4:30Speaker 6: when the satellite, you know.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Daily.
- 4:32Speaker 6: No not okay come on you know a couple weeks
- 4:35Speaker 6: ago when the technology went down here in the studio
- 4:37Speaker 6: we weren't we weren't happy and the coaches aren't happy
- 4:39Speaker 6: and the quarterback's not happy that's why in in the
- 4:41Speaker 6: nfl like you get some pissed off looking quarterbacks when
- 4:44Speaker 6: that microphone does so that speaker does go down because
- 4:47Speaker 6: you are relying on it because everything functions through that
- 4:51Speaker 6: um and i will say like if Efficiency, yes, you
- 4:54Speaker 6: would definitely rather hear it on a speaker than have
- 4:56Speaker 6: to sit there with a lot of signals because sometimes
- 4:58Speaker 6: these play calls can get very wordy, especially in the NFL.
- 5:01Speaker 3: They can get 20, 25 words long.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was telling Taylor. He was asking
- 5:06Speaker 2: about signals and why when you want to signal everything in,
- 5:09Speaker 2: and I was giving an example of an NFL call,
- 5:12Speaker 2: and I always go to this one because it's one
- 5:14Speaker 2: I use all the time, like Jack Wright, Scott Wright, 99-stop, F-cross, M-kill, I-45,
- 5:20Speaker 2: zone extra.
- 5:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And so you've got a pass play, but then you
- 5:24Speaker 2: can kill it. And Jack Wright, you're an offset. You
- 5:27Speaker 2: can kill it to where you go back into the
- 5:28Speaker 2: I formation, then you run 45 zone extra, and you're
- 5:32Speaker 2: changing a lot of different things. There's literally no way
- 5:36Speaker 2: you're signaling that call in there. And then also, nobody
- 5:39Speaker 2: really wants to go off a wristband at this level,
- 5:43Speaker 2: even the college level. A lot of times, if you
- 5:45Speaker 2: go to the wristband.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Unless you're Justin Herbert.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Which, that didn't work out very well.
- 5:49Speaker 7: Nah.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And if you go to the wristband a lot of times,
- 5:52Speaker 2: to me, that signals you've got something special coming up
- 5:56Speaker 2: or you've got something really wordy where your quarterback just
- 5:59Speaker 2: can't get it in. And so, like, my antennas go up.
- 6:02Speaker 2: If I see a quarterback at a high level go
- 6:03Speaker 2: to a wristband, I'm like, hey, look out for some
- 6:06Speaker 2: tomfoolery here.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah. This is a wristband call.
- 6:08Speaker 6: We always kind of made fun of the wristbands. Like, wristband,
- 6:10Speaker 6: to me, at the professional level.
- 6:13Speaker 2: There's zero chance that Aaron Rodgers or Phillip Rivers or
- 6:16Speaker 2: Peyton Manning would ever wear the wristband. Unless.
- 6:19Speaker 6: The only situation is if you're in a new system.
- 6:22Speaker 6: I mean, didn't Phillip wore one in Indy, didn't he?
- 6:25Speaker 6: Probably like when he was 45 years old.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah, because of the brain. I got it. Because he
- 6:29Speaker 3: didn't get a rejuvenate.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And two, like he got there on Tuesday and started.
- 6:32Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. Like being new in the system.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, like that. But if you've been there for the
- 6:38Speaker 2: offseason and it's your system, you're never going to see
- 6:40Speaker 2: somebody on a normal play go to a wristband.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Normally on.
- 6:48Speaker 6: You got to think about if you're at home, the
- 6:50Speaker 6: defense is going to be harder for the linebacker to hear.
- 6:54Speaker 6: So the guys that wear the green dot and wear
- 6:57Speaker 6: the speakers in their helmet, usually you're going to see
- 6:59Speaker 6: on TV if you zoom in, usually you're going to
- 7:01Speaker 6: see like black foam in the ear holes of their helmet.
- 7:06Speaker 6: It keeps the sound in. But sometimes it does. It
- 7:09Speaker 6: gets rowdy, especially in the SEC. And sometimes like you do,
- 7:12Speaker 6: you're going to hear quarterbacks like pressing the helmet into
- 7:15Speaker 6: their head to– try to limit any air that's coming
- 7:19Speaker 6: through to keep the sound waves in. It gets a
- 7:21Speaker 6: little challenging at some, but it's better than signaling. You
- 7:25Speaker 6: think about the operation of practice, too. Coaches want to
- 7:28Speaker 6: be efficient in practice. You can get more plays in
- 7:32Speaker 6: with the speaker system, too, in practice because you're not
- 7:36Speaker 6: having to signal.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Signal takes a little time.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Now, it might only take five or six more seconds
- 7:42Speaker 6: than it does to call it in, but when you
- 7:45Speaker 6: add that up over... you know, a hundred plays in practice, it, it,
- 7:49Speaker 6: it adds up.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 6: So coaches love that efficiency because you get more plays in,
- 7:55Speaker 6: you get more and more and more plays in. So yeah, it's,
- 7:59Speaker 6: it does present challenges when the technology goes down, but
- 8:01Speaker 6: it is absolutely elite way to, to operate a football game.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And again, kind of a good question though.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Going back to what we were talking about, there's only
- 8:11Speaker 2: so many things that you can do. There's only so
- 8:12Speaker 2: many things that you have up available in your game
- 8:15Speaker 2: plan and LSU knows what coverages Ole Miss is going
- 8:20Speaker 2: to run. Ole Miss knows what coverages LSU likes to run. Like,
- 8:23Speaker 2: that's analytics. That's data. Like, we see that. Again, I'll
- 8:27Speaker 2: give you an example. Like, for Ole Miss, most of
- 8:30Speaker 2: the time they're either going to be in three or four. 30.4%
- 8:34Speaker 2: of the time, Pete Golding plays cover three. 28.1% of
- 8:38Speaker 2: the time, he's in quarters. His changeup is quarter, quarter, halves.
- 8:41Speaker 2: He's in that 11.8% of the time.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Right?
- 8:42Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:44Speaker 2: So that's a large majority of who they are. They'll
- 8:47Speaker 2: play some zero when they want to get aggressive. They'll
- 8:49Speaker 2: do some different things, but they are a zone coverage team.
- 8:52Speaker 2: There is not a lot of man. LSU knows that.
- 8:56Speaker 2: They don't know which is going to be which, when
- 8:58Speaker 2: it's going to happen. It's all about disguising. Same thing
- 9:01Speaker 2: for the other side of it. It's going to be, okay,
- 9:04Speaker 2: what do you do pre-snap? How do you get to it?
- 9:06Speaker 2: How do you fool us? We think that you're playing
- 9:09Speaker 2: this coverage. We tell our quarterback, hey, it's this, and
- 9:11Speaker 2: then all of a sudden at the last minute, You
- 9:13Speaker 2: rock and roll. You don't see as much of that
- 9:15Speaker 2: in college football that you do in the NFL, but
- 9:18Speaker 2: that's the chess game that we're talking about. Everybody knows.
- 9:21Speaker 2: You can look at the analytics and watch film and
- 9:23Speaker 2: see what they run, but do you really know when
- 9:26Speaker 2: they're running it?
- 9:31Speaker 6: Football is a great chess match. You love when two
- 9:34Speaker 6: teams face each other, two really good teams face each other.
- 9:37Speaker 6: You love when two good coordinators on each side face
- 9:40Speaker 6: each other because they do have to throw wrinkles and
- 9:43Speaker 6: you will see wrinkles from both teams you'll see wrinkles
- 9:45Speaker 6: from lsu's offense you'll see it from old miss's offense
- 9:48Speaker 6: you'll see it from each defense something new that they
- 9:51Speaker 6: haven't shown so far this year to catch somebody by
- 9:55Speaker 6: surprise something that they're not prepared for But there is
- 9:59Speaker 6: a little bit of a chess match too. Like you
- 10:01Speaker 6: kind of mentioned it talking about signals earlier, but you
- 10:03Speaker 6: can do it with like different defensive looks. Like how
- 10:05Speaker 6: much do we change or how much do we just
- 10:08Speaker 6: try to make them think that we change?
- 10:10Speaker 3: Like you do something that's the same so obvious.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Like let's just say, you know, you run, you give
- 10:15Speaker 6: somebody a fist out there to the receiver and that's
- 10:18Speaker 6: a stop route.
- 10:19Speaker 3: And that's pretty obvious, right? Fist, okay, you're going to stop.
- 10:23Speaker 6: Well, maybe they think it's so obvious that they don't
- 10:25Speaker 6: react to it because you're like.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Well, no way that's going to mean the same thing
- 10:27Speaker 3: this week. If he gives them that fist out there,
- 10:29Speaker 3: it's going to be a different route. So it's just
- 10:32Speaker 3: a chess game.
- 10:34Speaker 6: This is the game that we've been waiting for.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Everybody's been waiting for.
- 10:40Speaker 6: People tried not to talk about this game, like within
- 10:43Speaker 6: the LSU world, within the media world, because you want
- 10:45Speaker 6: to focus because there was a Clemson game.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Ole Miss had Louisville.
- 10:49Speaker 6: There was all these, like, you want to take it
- 10:50Speaker 6: one week at a time. But this was the game
- 10:53Speaker 6: that every fan was thinking about all offseason. Yeah, the
- 10:56Speaker 6: Clemson game was awesome. But, like, it's not going to be,
- 10:59Speaker 6: it's not going to compare. Like, the scenes, the production,
- 11:04Speaker 6: Saturday is going to be phenomenal. It is going to
- 11:08Speaker 6: be absolutely electric the entire day. Now, what happens on
- 11:13Speaker 6: the field and what the scoreboard says at the end
- 11:15Speaker 6: of the game, I don't know. But I do know
- 11:17Speaker 6: for a fact that there is going to be drama.
- 11:21Speaker 6: There is going to be excitement. Something crazy, off the wall,
- 11:25Speaker 6: unexpected is going to happen. It happens every time Lane
- 11:29Speaker 6: Kiffin has a homecoming or a return or whatever it is.
- 11:33Speaker 6: It's going to be phenomenal TV, television all day. The feels,
- 11:38Speaker 6: the vibe all day long when you wake up Saturday
- 11:40Speaker 6: morning is going to be incredible. And then the production,
- 11:43Speaker 6: the show, the game, whatever you want to call it,
- 11:47Speaker 6: Is going to be equally as awesome.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Because it's two good teams. Yes.
- 11:51Speaker 3: With great players.
- 11:52Speaker 2: And being there is going to be, you know, chomping
- 11:54Speaker 2: at the bit to get to the stadium. It's going
- 11:56Speaker 2: to be a night game, so you're going to wake up.
- 11:58Speaker 2: You're going to be in the hotel. You're going to
- 11:59Speaker 2: be like, oh, my gosh, can we just go now?
- 12:01Speaker 2: Can't we just get in the bus? And can we
- 12:03Speaker 2: go down there now? One thing that, and this is
- 12:07Speaker 2: for me, if you have a different feeling, like, please
- 12:09Speaker 2: do share. I know you will. Like, when I see
- 12:12Speaker 2: a narrative of, oh, man, this team's going to play
- 12:16Speaker 2: pissed off. or this team's going to play this way
- 12:19Speaker 2: because of how it went in the pregame and what
- 12:21Speaker 2: they heard. For me, all of that ish goes out
- 12:25Speaker 2: the window when boot meets ball. Like it does like,
- 12:30Speaker 2: then it's about your preparation. Then, okay. Cause then you
- 12:33Speaker 2: have to control your emotions and stay in the game.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And so like, and again, there's a lot of people
- 12:38Speaker 2: that are listening to this that played some level of football.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And I think you understand what I'm saying, but, If
- 12:43Speaker 2: you never played football and you think that's the case
- 12:45Speaker 2: for four quarters, you have that same piss and vinegar,
- 12:47Speaker 2: it's not the case. Once the ball's kicked off, you
- 12:51Speaker 2: should not like any of your opponents. You should treat
- 12:53Speaker 2: every opponent the same. And then once it is kicked off,
- 12:57Speaker 2: you have to hone in on what is my assignment,
- 12:59Speaker 2: what is the game plan, what are my tips, what
- 13:01Speaker 2: are my reminders. So I think that's a big misconception of, oh, man,
- 13:06Speaker 2: they're going to play angry. Everybody should play angry. Everybody
- 13:10Speaker 2: should have a certain way to do it. And at
- 13:13Speaker 2: least for me, I tried to, hey, once the ball's
- 13:15Speaker 2: kicked off, all the pregame narratives, those go away. Because
- 13:19Speaker 2: it didn't matter if it was Brandon Spikes across from
- 13:22Speaker 2: me or if it was my best friend playing across
- 13:25Speaker 2: from me. I was going to try to impose my
- 13:28Speaker 2: will on that person or that group of people. And
- 13:31Speaker 2: so for me, I always felt like people put too
- 13:34Speaker 2: much into the pregame narrative of they're going to be
- 13:38Speaker 2: thinking about this for four quarters. Because I think if
- 13:40Speaker 2: you do that, Then you lose sight of all the
- 13:44Speaker 2: preparation that you've done to get ready for that game.
- 13:47Speaker 6: Well, we talk about that kind of like the counter-argument
- 13:52Speaker 6: to that sometimes in the smaller games, the purple jersey games,
- 13:56Speaker 6: the directional school U type of games. You do the
- 14:00Speaker 6: same work, right? You put in the same amount of hours.
- 14:02Speaker 6: You do the exact same routine as you do for
- 14:06Speaker 6: the big games. But there's just something about it, your subconscious.
- 14:10Speaker 6: The attention to detail in your film study, in your preparation.
- 14:13Speaker 6: And you can try all you want for the smaller games.
- 14:16Speaker 6: But the attention to detail is so much more. It's
- 14:20Speaker 6: naturally there. You can't explain it, but I think we
- 14:23Speaker 6: are explaining it because everybody gets that. If something means
- 14:26Speaker 6: more to you, you are like your subconscious is going
- 14:30Speaker 6: to retain it better. Your subconscious is going to work
- 14:33Speaker 6: a little bit harder. It's going to push a little
- 14:34Speaker 6: bit more. So the whole, so I do, I do
- 14:38Speaker 6: hear and agree with what you're saying, but I do
- 14:41Speaker 6: think that people are going to play more pissed off going.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Into the game.
- 14:44Speaker 2: And I think that, I think it should be any
- 14:46Speaker 2: when sec game though, like at least that was for me,
- 14:49Speaker 2: like I'm going to, I'm going to watch some extra tape.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I'm going to watch a little bit of third down
- 14:54Speaker 2: a little bit, you know, more closely than I would
- 14:56Speaker 2: if we were playing directional school. Because when you're getting
- 14:59Speaker 2: ready for the purple jersey game, you're right. Like, you
- 15:02Speaker 2: have the same routine. You go through the same process.
- 15:03Speaker 2: But it's, like, the intent in which you enter the
- 15:05Speaker 2: room with.
- 15:06Speaker 6: So you're going to start the game motivated. But I
- 15:10Speaker 6: think in these bigger games, it's also hard. It's a
- 15:13Speaker 6: four-quarter game. It's three hours. Like, it's a long time. Like,
- 15:15Speaker 6: you can't stay at that heightened level for that long.
- 15:18Speaker 6: But in these bigger games, subconsciously, it's easier to get
- 15:23Speaker 6: pissed off again.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 6: And, like, re-energize yourself and refocus and, like, get that
- 15:28Speaker 6: pregame feeling back again. Like, whether it's halftime, whether it's
- 15:31Speaker 6: the start of the fourth quarter and you hear the
- 15:32Speaker 6: band play, like, it's easier to get the juices back
- 15:35Speaker 6: like that. But I always thought, like, in these big
- 15:38Speaker 6: games as an offense, the defense doesn't have as much
- 15:43Speaker 6: technical things to worry about.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Now, there's a lot.
- 15:46Speaker 6: Like, I don't want to, like, dumb it down by
- 15:49Speaker 6: any means, but defensive players are dumb.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Which gap do I go in? The A gap or
- 15:54Speaker 2: the B gap?
- 15:55Speaker 3: Is it to go with the ball?
- 15:57Speaker 6: But defense, they have less things to think about technically. Now,
- 16:01Speaker 6: they've got a lot to think about, especially in this
- 16:03Speaker 6: Blake Baker defense. They have a lot of responsibilities and assignments.
- 16:06Speaker 6: They have a lot of.
- 16:08Speaker 3: But it's not.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Their game plan going into a week, like we talked
- 16:12Speaker 2: about Ole Miss' coverages, if we did that same thing
- 16:14Speaker 2: and we're not, Can't be having spies watching us, Mincy.
- 16:18Speaker 7: You bum.
- 16:21Speaker 2: But they have a lot of different coverages that are up,
- 16:24Speaker 2: and so they have to make sure that they're on
- 16:26Speaker 2: all the things you're talking about.
- 16:28Speaker 6: The defense is able to play with their hair on
- 16:30Speaker 6: fire more, and they should. They are the ones that
- 16:33Speaker 6: should play pissed off. Now, the offense has to play controlled.
- 16:37Speaker 6: But at the beginning of these games, it's all about
- 16:40Speaker 6: taking punches as an offense. Because that's the best they're
- 16:44Speaker 6: going to look. You see it in the NFL. You see, like,
- 16:46Speaker 6: that first drive, don't do anything dumb. Like, get in
- 16:50Speaker 6: a rhythm. Take their best. You're going to take the
- 16:53Speaker 6: defense's best shots that first drive. Maybe first two drive
- 16:56Speaker 6: if you go three and out that first drive.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Take it.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Bend.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Don't break attitude. And as a play caller in offense,
- 17:02Speaker 6: you got to know when to punch. You got to
- 17:03Speaker 6: know when to pull. You got to know when to block.
- 17:06Speaker 6: So you have to understand there's times as a play
- 17:09Speaker 6: caller to punch. There's times to go for it, to
- 17:13Speaker 6: go for a knockout. But there's also times to sit
- 17:16Speaker 6: there and block a punch as well. So withstand a
- 17:19Speaker 6: blow because the energy is going to be out of
- 17:21Speaker 6: this world. The scenes are going to be awesome. The
- 17:24Speaker 6: energy is going to be awesome. Both defenses are going
- 17:27Speaker 6: to be flying around early on in the game. Both
- 17:30Speaker 6: offenses just need to understand, don't make a critical error
- 17:34Speaker 6: in those first couple of drives.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you've got to take some shots. Just try not
- 17:38Speaker 2: to get knocked out early.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Exactly. You've got to take some. It's going to be
- 17:45Speaker 3: Uber fun. Can't wait to.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Just be there. See the pregame, see how vile it's
- 17:55Speaker 2: going to be. Talk a little trash on my way
- 17:57Speaker 2: up to the press box and then see how it
- 18:00Speaker 2: plays out.
- 18:00Speaker 3: That's right. Hopefully no, nobody catches those giant hands. A
- 18:08Speaker 3: mild case of giant disease.
- 18:09Speaker 2: What would y'all do if I like, Hey guys, I'm
- 18:12Speaker 2: not going to be there on Monday. I'm, Got a

- 20:56Speaker 2: get to some OTB mailbag coming up in the next segment.
- 21:00Speaker 2: So go ahead and get those inside the chat. We
- 21:01Speaker 2: have Nick Underhill, New Orleans.Football, joining us to talk Saints
- 21:04Speaker 2: at 9. We'll talk about the ridiculous fumble that was
- 21:07Speaker 2: not a fumble but was a fumble with Nick Underhill
- 21:11Speaker 2: and break that down. We wanted to do it more
- 21:14Speaker 2: in detail yesterday, but I want to have some video
- 21:18Speaker 2: to go with it.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Sure.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I think so. But you were talking about I was
- 21:22Speaker 2: kind of giving you the coverage schemes for LSU, and
- 21:25Speaker 2: you said it perfectly. This defense can kind of do
- 21:29Speaker 2: some different things, and they can take some chances because, well,
- 21:32Speaker 2: they don't have to be perfect like they did a
- 21:34Speaker 2: year ago. A year ago, they had to be perfect
- 21:37Speaker 2: on defense. Because if you weren't, you were going to
- 21:40Speaker 2: lose a game only giving up 17-21. The Oklahoma game
- 21:46Speaker 2: comes to mind. The Oklahoma game at the end of
- 21:49Speaker 2: the season, the defense was perfect. They had one busted coverage.
- 21:54Speaker 2: And that one busted coverage let Oklahoma win the game
- 21:57Speaker 2: because you couldn't do anything offensively. And I'm sitting there
- 22:01Speaker 2: and I'm thinking, like, that's going to be a storyline of, oh,
- 22:03Speaker 2: they busted the coverage, they hit a big hitter. The
- 22:06Speaker 2: defense kicked Oklahoma's butt until that point. And it was
- 22:09Speaker 2: like one play. And as a defensive coordinator, that has
- 22:13Speaker 2: to come into your mindset of, man, we want to
- 22:15Speaker 2: be aggressive. We want to take chances. That's who we are.
- 22:18Speaker 2: But we also know we're not going to get a
- 22:20Speaker 2: lot of help from the other side. And so maybe
- 22:22Speaker 2: we're a little bit, I don't want to say conservative,
- 22:25Speaker 2: because I never am going to define Blake's defense as conservative,
- 22:29Speaker 2: but we can't do the things that we want to
- 22:31Speaker 2: do because of it. And it feels like that went away.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Yeah, this is a very balanced LSU football team. If
- 22:41Speaker 6: you are able to play defense with the creativity that
- 22:46Speaker 6: Blake Baker has as a defensive mastermind.
- 22:49Speaker 3: But do it with the skill set.
- 22:51Speaker 6: We talked about last year, Blake Baker not being able
- 22:53Speaker 6: to create pressure with his front four. Well, this year,
- 22:56Speaker 6: you can create pressure with your front four. That makes
- 22:59Speaker 6: him a very dangerous man. He is going to be
- 23:03Speaker 6: able to get creative with creative pressures. And he has
- 23:06Speaker 6: done that so far. And it's not just like cover zero,
- 23:10Speaker 6: we're going to rush seven and you don't have enough
- 23:12Speaker 6: to block for us. Like it's a lot of times
- 23:14Speaker 6: he's creating these looks with four man pressures, right?
- 23:19Speaker 3: It's just a simulated pressure.
- 23:21Speaker 6: So it, it stresses the offensive lines, protection rules and
- 23:24Speaker 6: responsibilities and makes them be really good at passing things
- 23:27Speaker 6: off and identification. It makes the quarterback have to be
- 23:30Speaker 6: even better at identifying when there's dropping defensive ends and
- 23:35Speaker 6: and linebackers who are mugged in the A or B gap.
- 23:38Speaker 6: And that's hard to do as a quarterback. But he
- 23:42Speaker 6: also likes to take risks and chances. Now, they are
- 23:45Speaker 6: all calculated. There's certainly somebody there, but we saw.
- 23:55Speaker 3: It the first week. There was on the pick six.
- 23:58Speaker 6: If they end up protecting that and finding a way
- 24:01Speaker 6: to protect it, and you got.
- 24:03Speaker 3: you have the back on a wheel route versus Prince.
- 24:06Speaker 6: Well, like that's not an advantageous matchup for LSU, but
- 24:10Speaker 6: the calculated risk is, as I believe that this, this
- 24:13Speaker 6: look and this blitz is so difficult to pick up.
- 24:16Speaker 6: We're going to get to the quarterback before that becomes
- 24:19Speaker 6: a problem for us down the field. We're going to
- 24:21Speaker 6: get to the quarterback. We're going to hurt you before
- 24:22Speaker 6: you can hurt us.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Those are calculated risks. Now, is it going to work
- 24:26Speaker 6: 100% of the time this season? No, there's, Offenses are
- 24:30Speaker 6: going to get theirs. You play in the SEC, you're
- 24:32Speaker 6: going to be playing the best. If you make a run,
- 24:35Speaker 6: you get to the playoffs. You're going to be playing
- 24:37Speaker 6: the best teams with the best coordinators. They're going to
- 24:40Speaker 6: have ways to pick some things up. But the good
- 24:43Speaker 6: thing is, what makes Blake Baker a very dangerous man
- 24:46Speaker 6: this season is that he doesn't have to be perfect
- 24:50Speaker 6: the entire game every single week because now you've got
- 24:53Speaker 6: an offensive counterpart that can score as well.
- 24:56Speaker 3: And so that's what makes it very dangerous. Last year, he.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Had to He basically probably went into the game last
- 25:02Speaker 6: year saying, I got to pitch a shutout right here.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I got to pitch a shutout.
- 25:06Speaker 6: He doesn't have to feel that way now because he
- 25:08Speaker 6: has an offense that can score, so he can take
- 25:11Speaker 6: a few risks. Now, those risks are going to be
- 25:18Speaker 6: sensational for LSU because you're going to see incredible plays
- 25:21Speaker 6: throughout the season. Now you might see somebody get beat.
- 25:23Speaker 6: You might see somebody get– because you were asking at
- 25:27Speaker 6: the break, you were kind of giving the coverage breakdown.
- 25:29Speaker 6: for LSU this season, very balanced. And you asked the question,
- 25:33Speaker 6: how much man-to-man, how much cover one do you run
- 25:35Speaker 6: this week against Trinidad? Well, you certainly test the waters.
- 25:40Speaker 6: You certainly do, and you're going to mix it in.
- 25:42Speaker 6: I anticipate us staying very balanced. Now, what does cover
- 25:46Speaker 6: one allow you to do? Get more people in the box.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Get more people on the edges. You can either stop
- 25:52Speaker 6: the run. You can keep Trinidad contained a.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Little bit more. Now, can Ole Miss take advantage of that?
- 25:59Speaker 3: Maybe they do.
- 26:00Speaker 6: Maybe it's once a half, whatever it is. But Blake
- 26:04Speaker 6: doesn't have to be perfect. If they do get you,
- 26:06Speaker 6: because they're going to get theirs every now and then.
- 26:08Speaker 6: If they do get you, it's not like, oh, my God,
- 26:10Speaker 6: we just lost the game right there because they just
- 26:13Speaker 6: hit a 60-yard play on us in the middle of
- 26:15Speaker 6: the first quarter. That's kind of the feeling a year ago.
- 26:19Speaker 6: But with Lane Kiffin's offense on the other side, you
- 26:22Speaker 6: don't have to feel that way. So I think the
- 26:23Speaker 6: chances– that Blake can take is going– you're just going
- 26:26Speaker 6: to see more and more every week. You're going to
- 26:28Speaker 6: see more and more creativity in looks from LSU's defense.
- 26:32Speaker 5: We were talking about this during break about, oh, were
- 26:35Speaker 5: we too aggressive against Javier last year, Vandy, and you said, well,
- 26:39Speaker 5: you had to be because your front four couldn't get
- 26:40Speaker 5: any pressure. We're a lot better there. So, to your point,
- 26:43Speaker 5: like Blake can do more. And then Jake brought up
- 26:45Speaker 5: the Oklahoma game. You picked off John Mateer three times
- 26:47Speaker 5: in that game.
- 26:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I was about to say, you kept them from converting
- 26:51Speaker 2: first downs. They were 415. Mateer threw the three interceptions.
- 26:55Speaker 2: They were, I think, 75 yards rushing. All right? Now,
- 27:00Speaker 2: LSU had 198 total yards in that game.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Van Buren was, like, less than 100 passing.
- 27:08Speaker 2: God, it was– I don't even– I know he was–
- 27:10Speaker 2: I know his completion percentage was really bad. Let me
- 27:12Speaker 2: pull up the box score. He was 14 of 25,
- 27:15Speaker 2: 96 yards passing, 3.8 yards per attempt. One touchdown, one interception.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Xavion Thomas actually– had a better QBR than he had
- 27:25Speaker 2: because he threw a pass for 17 yards.
- 27:28Speaker 3: You're rushing attack. We got just a couple minutes here. Taylor,
- 27:33Speaker 3: are you connected to my computer?
- 27:35Speaker 2: You ran for 2.9 yards on 29.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Carries per rush. That's fun. That's so fun.
- 27:42Speaker 2: I think that was the game that I was texting
- 27:45Speaker 2: y'all probably with the most anger. I think I was
- 27:49Speaker 2: just spamming our group text just with, four-letter.
- 27:53Speaker 6: Words no i don't believe that for a second all
- 27:56Speaker 6: right check this out all right so all right so
- 27:59Speaker 6: hey check this out i'm gonna i'm gonna test my
- 28:00Speaker 6: new tool out too oh live on the radio so
- 28:02Speaker 6: i'm gonna give you a live on radio right now
- 28:05Speaker 6: nobody's watching all right so this is i'm just gonna
- 28:09Speaker 6: give you an example of kind of a blake baker
- 28:11Speaker 6: since we're talking about him i was gonna show something
- 28:12Speaker 6: else but let's let's do a little um let's do
- 28:14Speaker 6: a little defensive film right here so This is one
- 28:18Speaker 6: thing that Blake Baker does so well, and it's creative,
- 28:21Speaker 6: and it's difficult to do. So you see basically a
- 28:23Speaker 6: five-wide set. So this is going to be scat protection
- 28:26Speaker 6: by Louisiana Tech. So it's a five-man protection. So they
- 28:28Speaker 6: have a lot to sort out here. So offensive lines
- 28:30Speaker 6: can either go into look for– this is probably going
- 28:32Speaker 6: to be a four-down plus a declared guy. So obviously
- 28:35Speaker 6: they declare– they're going to declare down here. They declare
- 28:38Speaker 6: the T.J. Daughtery to the right. Do I like that call?
- 28:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 28:42Speaker 6: I mean, up here, up top, I would declare up
- 28:45Speaker 6: top because– You got three over two receivers up top,
- 28:49Speaker 6: and then down here you got three over three receivers
- 28:52Speaker 6: down low. So I'd probably declare to the left if
- 28:55Speaker 6: I was Louisiana Tech, if I had to do this
- 28:57Speaker 6: all over again.
- 28:58Speaker 2: You would declare to the star to the left?
- 29:01Speaker 3: That's a nickel.
- 29:03Speaker 6: That's a nickel or a dime. So they bring the pressure.
- 29:06Speaker 6: So this is what we call a simulated pressure. Why
- 29:09Speaker 6: is it called a simulated pressure? Because you're bringing a blitz.
- 29:11Speaker 6: You're bringing a linebacker or a secondary. Yeah, but you're
- 29:15Speaker 6: only– still pressuring with four guys because you're dropping um
- 29:20Speaker 6: so you're bringing people are going.
- 29:21Speaker 2: To see this i don't mean to cut you off
- 29:23Speaker 2: i apologize but so what matt's saying is you see
- 29:27Speaker 2: the star nickel whatever coming off the edge and there's
- 29:29Speaker 2: a lot of people that are going to say oh
- 29:30Speaker 2: they blitz them it's not actually the case it's actually
- 29:34Speaker 2: simulated pressure because like matt's saying like umami ellen drops
- 29:39Speaker 2: out you bring three D linemen, then you bring the
- 29:41Speaker 2: nickel off the edge. So we don't call that a
- 29:45Speaker 2: pressure because you're just bringing four.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you call it.
- 29:47Speaker 6: We would call it, like, we would put the pressure, like,
- 29:50Speaker 6: when we identify it, we'd call the pressure, but then
- 29:53Speaker 6: we put F at the back end of it to
- 29:56Speaker 6: say that.
- 29:56Speaker 3: They rushed four people. Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Why this causes problems, because if you declare it, they're
- 30:02Speaker 6: only rushing four, but they're blocking, Louisiana Tech's blocking five,
- 30:04Speaker 6: and you still got a free guy running, just because
- 30:07Speaker 6: they declared it improperly. Now, he's got to understand a
- 30:10Speaker 6: scat protection that you're hot. What do most coaches teach
- 30:14Speaker 6: quarterbacks when you got pressure and you're hot? Basically, they
- 30:17Speaker 6: say throw into the pressure.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Replace the ball. you know with the ball yeah so.
- 30:23Speaker 6: You're throwing into pressure because that leaves voids now what
- 30:26Speaker 6: blake baker has done so great in the first two
- 30:29Speaker 6: weeks is he's not allowing you to throw into the
- 30:32Speaker 6: pressure you against blake baker you almost you got to
- 30:34Speaker 6: throw away from the pressure yeah because he does what
- 30:37Speaker 6: i would call if they brought five it'd be like
- 30:41Speaker 6: a fire zone two yeah or a i Inverted two.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I haven't heard fire zone.
- 30:45Speaker 6: But basically, he plays cover two on the side of
- 30:48Speaker 6: his pressure, which creates a lot of problems because what?
- 30:51Speaker 6: Most hot routes are going to be hitches. They're going
- 30:53Speaker 6: to be flat routes. They're going to be slant routes.
- 30:55Speaker 6: They're going to be something short. Cover two takes those away.
- 30:58Speaker 6: Cover two means the corner is going to play a
- 30:59Speaker 6: cloud corner, which means he's going to sit. The guy
- 31:03Speaker 6: dropping is going to play, call it the monument defender,
- 31:06Speaker 6: the statue defender, whatever you want to call it. And
- 31:08Speaker 6: this guy is going to roll over and play the
- 31:09Speaker 6: deep half.
- 31:10Speaker 7: Yep.
- 31:11Speaker 6: Um, so it's a situation where you take away the
- 31:14Speaker 6: hot route. So against Blake Baker, you kind of got
- 31:16Speaker 6: to throw away from it. So you're going to see
- 31:18Speaker 6: it up here. He wants to throw it hot cause
- 31:20Speaker 6: he's no, so he's taught throw into pressure. And normally
- 31:24Speaker 6: you would have this little out route right here. That'd
- 31:25Speaker 6: be your pressure answer. Yep. Well, you're playing cover too.
- 31:28Speaker 6: You're playing a cloud corner on top of it. So
- 31:30Speaker 6: you can't do it.
- 31:31Speaker 2: And so go back real quick, right before the ball snaps.
- 31:33Speaker 2: So there's a lot of people. If you see this, look,
- 31:36Speaker 2: you're thinking what coverage?
- 31:39Speaker 4: Me, I'm thinking three.
- 31:40Speaker 2: All right, Alondra, what do you think? Okay, well, it
- 31:43Speaker 2: could be a couple of things. If it's one single
- 31:45Speaker 2: high safety, if he thinks cover three, which it could be. Yeah,
- 31:51Speaker 2: you do. You know this.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Cover.
- 31:55Speaker 6: One.
- 31:55Speaker 2: There you go, because there's one single high safety. Because
- 31:57Speaker 2: there's one safety. So, but Taylor threw me off. Why
- 31:59Speaker 2: did he say cover three? Because you can't, you can
- 32:01Speaker 2: play three. Like, those three guys can drop.
- 32:03Speaker 4: They can drop, and I just thought they were playing
- 32:04Speaker 4: way off the receivers, so I was thinking.
- 32:06Speaker 2: They were dropping deep. Now, cover one's going to be
- 32:08Speaker 2: more man across the board, but, like, For college quarterbacks,
- 32:13Speaker 2: sometimes you'll see a single high safety sometimes, and then
- 32:15Speaker 2: you'll take your eyes where they're not supposed to be,
- 32:17Speaker 2: and you'll kind of forget to recheck what the coverage
- 32:20Speaker 2: is going to be. Now, this isn't the greatest example because,
- 32:22Speaker 2: like Taylor said, the corners are playing pretty far off.
- 32:25Speaker 2: That's why I thought they were bailing. It's not showing
- 32:27Speaker 2: you cover two is kind of my point. Even in
- 32:29Speaker 2: very easy terms, there's a couple of different coverages, but
- 32:33Speaker 2: you wouldn't immediately think cover two to Matt's point because
- 32:36Speaker 2: you're not expecting these players to drop into the different–
- 32:40Speaker 2: passing places that they've got to get to. DJ Pickett's
- 32:43Speaker 2: going to drop. He's going to be the deep safety
- 32:44Speaker 2: when he's lined up at corner right now. So even
- 32:47Speaker 2: something small like that.
- 32:48Speaker 6: Reacting to cover two from this look pre-snap is damn
- 32:51Speaker 6: near impossible in college. Like, it's so impossible because, again,
- 32:54Speaker 6: you're supposed to throw into the pressure because there's holes there,
- 32:57Speaker 6: but it takes away that. So if I'm Ole Miss,
- 32:59Speaker 6: I'm working on throwing answers and hot routes away from
- 33:04Speaker 6: the pressure right now based on a lot of the
- 33:06Speaker 6: clips I've seen.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Actually– Yeah, go ahead. But you can't.
- 33:11Speaker 6: You've got to be careful with your hots, too, because
- 33:13Speaker 6: on the backside, you've got Prince Will dropping into coverage.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Yep.
- 33:17Speaker 6: And you're rushing four, so you still get to drop
- 33:19Speaker 6: seven into coverage. So it's fantastic defense. Yeah, they can
- 33:23Speaker 6: take advantage of it. Yes, in this type of situation,
- 33:26Speaker 6: this guy could be a go-getter, and he can release outside,
- 33:29Speaker 6: and there's going to be a little honey hole shot
- 33:31Speaker 6: out there.
- 33:32Speaker 3: But it's easy, too.
- 33:34Speaker 2: If they hit the honey hole right there before the
- 33:35Speaker 2: safety gets over there, sometimes you tip your cap. Just
- 33:38Speaker 2: like if they throw it out here into the flats
- 33:40Speaker 2: and Umami owns a little bit late getting on and
- 33:42Speaker 2: him and Weeks have to game tackle that. It's a
- 33:43Speaker 2: first down. It's a seven-yard gain, and you live with that.
- 33:46Speaker 6: And this is another piece of that chess game, too.
- 33:49Speaker 6: So if you have– we talked about it. They got
- 33:51Speaker 6: three receivers to one side, two receivers to the other. Well,
- 33:54Speaker 6: if I'm the quarterback, I'm declaring to the top here
- 33:56Speaker 6: because they got three defenders over two. There's an extra guy.
- 33:59Speaker 6: So if I have to declare, send him somewhere, I'm
- 34:00Speaker 6: going to send him that direction. Well, this is also
- 34:02Speaker 6: that film review Blake Baker's doing. Maybe this week they
- 34:06Speaker 6: line up in the same look, But they bring TJ
- 34:09Speaker 6: instead and drop Prince while he's got a little bit different.
- 34:11Speaker 6: And they play cover two to this side and then
- 34:13Speaker 6: cover one or cover like a quarters look or some
- 34:16Speaker 6: more fire zone kind of look back here. So that's
- 34:19Speaker 6: the games you play. And that's why football is so
- 34:22Speaker 6: awesome because you don't know. And a lot of times
- 34:24Speaker 6: you just have to understand what everybody's doing. A quarterback,
- 34:26Speaker 6: you got to understand where your hot is. You got
- 34:28Speaker 6: to understand where your answers are and just read and react.
- 34:33Speaker 2: All right, we are going to take a break. When
- 34:35Speaker 2: we come back, we're going to do a couple segments
- 34:37Speaker 2: of OTB mailbags. So get those inside the chat. We've
- 34:41Speaker 2: got Nick Underhill joining us to talk Saints at 9 a.m.
- 34:44Speaker 2: More OTB live from the Raising Cane Studio.

- 36:05Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn. Presented
- 36:08Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 36:20Speaker 2: All right. Welcome back in. OTV here live from the
- 36:24Speaker 2: Razor Cane Studio. Again, our Tuesday shows brought to you
- 36:26Speaker 2: by our friends at Community Steel. CommunitySteelCo.com. Yeah, this is
- 36:32Speaker 2: going to be bad. We got props up here. Before
- 36:36Speaker 2: we get to OTB Mailbag, I want to remind you
- 36:38Speaker 2: we have our friends at K-Z, K-ZBlinds.com, K-T-O-ZBlinds.com, K-Z Interiors
- 36:43Speaker 2: and Outdoor Living, Brandon Barton and the team have been
- 36:45Speaker 2: in the game since 2004. I've got them coming to
- 36:47Speaker 2: the house on Thursday. Looking forward to that. They've done
- 36:50Speaker 2: so much for me inside and outside, outside and inside,
- 36:53Speaker 2: and as I tell you all the time, sometimes a
- 36:54Speaker 2: little bit of both over there at K-Z, K-ZBlinds.com. Let's
- 36:59Speaker 2: get to some OTB Mailbag. I have a special delivery
- 37:04Speaker 2: for Dr.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Bench.
- 37:05Speaker 2: And look, it is marked most urgent. We'll be writing
- 37:08Speaker 2: to you.
- 37:09Speaker 1: The internet.
- 37:10Speaker 3: What the f * * * is the internet?
- 37:21Speaker 2: I got a text. Hashtag OTB mailbag.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Defensive players are dumb, huh?
- 37:28Speaker 2: Say that to Prince Will's face, Matt.
- 37:31Speaker 3: You're dumb.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Love the show, guys. Go Tigers. I mean, I've done
- 37:33Speaker 2: it to Bobby Carpenter. If you can do it to
- 37:35Speaker 2: the general, I mean.
- 37:36Speaker 3: But normally, defensive players have really good senses of humor.
- 37:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 4: And they also know.
- 37:41Speaker 3: That offensive players are superior intellect. Which is fine.
- 37:46Speaker 4: He can have the athletic advantage.
- 37:48Speaker 3: But Prince, well, I love you.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Which gap do I go with? The A gap or
- 37:52Speaker 2: the B gap?
- 37:52Speaker 3: You're the best.
- 37:53Speaker 6: And I've made fun of defensive people far bigger than you, sir.
- 37:57Speaker 3: I was about to say that.
- 38:00Speaker 2: I've done that my whole life as well. All right.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Even my son, who's bigger than me, and.
- 38:05Speaker 3: He played defense until last week. Sure, yeah. I called him.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Dumb.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Hashtag OTB mailbag. What is the most important thing LSU
- 38:15Speaker 2: needs to do offensively this Saturday against Ole Miss?
- 38:18Speaker 4: Run the football.
- 38:22Speaker 3: The most important thing.
- 38:23Speaker 2: They struggled a little.
- 38:24Speaker 6: I will tell you. So they struggled against Ole Miss.
- 38:28Speaker 6: Three-man front.
- 38:29Speaker 3: They struggled against rush run pressures.
- 38:36Speaker 6: They struggled in a lot of different aspects. No, they
- 38:40Speaker 6: did a lot of things well as well. And credit
- 38:42Speaker 6: to Louisiana Tech and their linebackers. They played very well.
- 38:45Speaker 6: But the biggest thing I saw come out of the
- 38:47Speaker 6: game is Sam Levitt needs to.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Improve his footwork. His footwork was very poor for a
- 38:53Speaker 3: lot of the game.
- 38:54Speaker 6: And I don't know how well it's being– I don't
- 38:57Speaker 6: know their offensive philosophy within footwork. I was always of
- 39:01Speaker 6: the schooling, the teaching that footwork makes all the difference.
- 39:06Speaker 2: What did you see from Landon Clark? Did you pay
- 39:08Speaker 2: attention enough when he came in?
- 39:09Speaker 3: I did not.
- 39:10Speaker 2: That would be a good kind of test to see
- 39:13Speaker 2: if he had the same footwork.
- 39:14Speaker 6: Or if his was different. But Sam Levitt did. He
- 39:17Speaker 6: rushed his footwork a lot. He was trying to make
- 39:20Speaker 6: reads where the route hadn't developed enough.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Quite yet.
- 39:24Speaker 3: And so he got off.
- 39:25Speaker 6: Of those reeds and had to go to other places
- 39:27Speaker 6: because his footwork was just too fast. Hey, Sam Levitt,
- 39:29Speaker 6: you just gotta slow down but i know there's you're
- 39:32Speaker 6: trying to play fast you're probably very hyped for the
- 39:34Speaker 6: game i get it you gotta calm yourself you gotta
- 39:37Speaker 6: calm your nerves play that you gotta work the system
- 39:40Speaker 6: because the system's there to help you but your footwork's
- 39:44Speaker 6: got to time out perfectly with those routes And it
- 39:47Speaker 6: did not even come close. Now, when it did, on time, accurate,
- 39:52Speaker 6: very nice throws. When it didn't, bad throws, missed reads,
- 39:57Speaker 6: which created negative plays or created scramble situations, which he's
- 40:00Speaker 6: really good at. Sam, you've got all the talent in
- 40:02Speaker 6: the world. You can do it. Just slow those feet down.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Hashtag OTV mailbag. This is for Hester. Usher's baby with
- 40:10Speaker 2: his side chick from Confessions Part 2 would be turning
- 40:12Speaker 2: 22 years old. This year, does that make you feel
- 40:16Speaker 2: as old as it made me feel? Yeah, remember Usher
- 40:19Speaker 2: got that call, said his chick on the side got
- 40:21Speaker 2: one on the way. I don't know if y'all remember that.
- 40:23Speaker 4: 22 years. He's old enough to drink now.
- 40:26Speaker 2: 22 years old. That hurts. It cuts deep. And yes,
- 40:31Speaker 2: I feel as old as you do. Just like, I
- 40:34Speaker 2: think Continuum, the John Mayer album is 20 years old,
- 40:36Speaker 2: like two days ago. We talked about the Justin Timberlake
- 40:39Speaker 2: out 20 years old last week.
- 40:40Speaker 7: God.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Music makes me feel old immediately, like when they tell
- 40:44Speaker 2: me what year it was released. Hashtag OTB mailbag. Have
- 40:49Speaker 2: y'all had any sword fights yet with those pointers?
- 40:53Speaker 3: No, they're not. They're not sturdy enough. They're not made
- 40:56Speaker 3: here in America. I thought the hand was going to
- 40:59Speaker 3: be a little bigger.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yeah, this is like T-Bob's hand.
- 41:02Speaker 3: They're not us.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Did you get T-Bob to have a mold of this
- 41:06Speaker 2: and you put it on the end of this pointer?
- 41:09Speaker 2: I can't see what you're pointing at. No, not at all, actually.
- 41:11Speaker 3: You can't see that?
- 41:12Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Got a little tiny index finger.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like that.
- 41:16Speaker 3: I made sure there was one that had the L
- 41:18Speaker 3: on it. Didn't buy those.
- 41:20Speaker 2: You should have. Hey, we're going to have a little
- 41:23Speaker 2: bit more OTB Mailbag when we come back to end
- 41:26Speaker 2: our number two. Then we're going to have our guy
- 41:28Speaker 2: Nick Underhill, New Orleans.Football, join us to talk New Orleans Saints,
- 41:32Speaker 2: all coming your way when we jump back here live
- 41:34Speaker 2: from the Raising Cane Studios.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 41:37Speaker 2: All right, go to getgordon.com. Gordon McKernan, injury attorneys. Multiple
- 41:42Speaker 2: ways to get in contact with the G-Team. You can
- 41:43Speaker 2: do it right there on the website, getgordon.com. A live
- 41:46Speaker 2: agent's going to pull right up. You can have a
- 41:48Speaker 2: chat with them. That's one way. Another way, any area

- 41:59Speaker 2: you're at, no matter where you're listening to us, give
- 42:01Speaker 2: that number a call. They're going to be able to
- 42:02Speaker 2: help you out. Also, on any major social media platforms,
- 42:05Speaker 2: At Get Gordon is going to be the handle. Get
- 42:07Speaker 2: Gordon and get it done.
- 42:07Speaker 3: That's right. Go to getgordon.com. Anywhere in Louisiana, 888-8888. Be
- 42:13Speaker 3: part of the G-Team.
- 42:14Speaker 6: We see all the great work that the G-Team does
- 42:17Speaker 6: over at LSU, LSU Athletics. We see all the great
- 42:19Speaker 6: work Gordon McKernan does within the community. Well, but at
- 42:23Speaker 6: the heart of everything, they're here to fight for you.
- 42:25Speaker 6: They are here to fight for people in Louisiana who
- 42:27Speaker 6: have been injured, who have had an accident. Nobody wants
- 42:29Speaker 6: to get an accident. Nobody plans it. But if you
- 42:31Speaker 6: are in a car accident, truck accident, injured on the
- 42:33Speaker 6: job site, whatever it is, give Gordon and his team
- 42:35Speaker 6: a call.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Let them fight for you. Go to getgordon.com. Stop.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn. Presented
- 42:49Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 43:02Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in OTV. You can never forget
- 43:07Speaker 2: about our friends at Bayou Automotive, but we want to
- 43:09Speaker 2: remind you about them every single day as well. Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep,
- 43:12Speaker 2: and Ram down there in La Paz, Louisiana. Very quick
- 43:15Speaker 2: drive down to La Paz, Louisiana, but if you can't
- 43:17Speaker 2: make it, that's okay. You can buy your vehicle online
- 43:19Speaker 2: to deliver that vehicle to you, and then once you
- 43:21Speaker 2: buy a vehicle from Bayou Automotive, remember when you need
- 43:24Speaker 2: routine maintenance, they are going to pick your vehicle up,
- 43:26Speaker 2: give you a loaner, and then bring your vehicle back
- 43:28Speaker 2: An incredible service that you get every single time over
- 43:30Speaker 2: at Bayou Automotive. BayouAutomotive.com. Again, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I've got the Bronco out there in the parking lot.
- 43:37Speaker 2: I have loved every single vehicle I've had from Bayou Automotive.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Go to BayouAutomotive.com today. Yeah, stop driving that bad car.
- 43:46Speaker 3: It's your good one.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Hashtag go to be mailbagged. Do you think Ole Miss
- 43:50Speaker 2: will stack the box and make Levitt beat them with
- 43:52Speaker 2: his arm?
- 43:55Speaker 3: I mean, some. I mean, I don't think.
- 43:58Speaker 2: To say that is.
- 44:01Speaker 6: They'll probably do some of what Louisiana Tech did to you,
- 44:05Speaker 6: which was put a lot of people in the box sometimes,
- 44:08Speaker 6: but play your safeties downhill a lot.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Now, it wasn't necessarily like a.
- 44:15Speaker 6: Disadvantage from a number standpoint all the time, but the
- 44:18Speaker 6: safeties filled very fast. So I expect LSU to take
- 44:23Speaker 6: their fair share of shots, especially down the middle of
- 44:24Speaker 6: the field.
- 44:28Speaker 2: They had Trey that's green over the middle of the
- 44:30Speaker 2: football field all night, and they started taking.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Advantage of it.
- 44:34Speaker 6: Yeah, because they kept just trying to stop the run
- 44:37Speaker 6: game with a lot of pressures and just pressure, pressure, pressure,
- 44:39Speaker 6: and just left the middle of the field wide open.
- 44:42Speaker 2: So you've got to take advantage of what they give you.
- 44:44Speaker 2: You've got to be able to handle whatever wrinkle they
- 44:47Speaker 2: give you. You've got to be able to adjust in
- 44:48Speaker 2: a game like this too. They are going to have
- 44:50Speaker 2: something that you might not be as ready for, just
- 44:53Speaker 2: like you're going to have something for them that they're
- 44:55Speaker 2: not ready for. And how big of a play can
- 44:57Speaker 2: you make when you run that? That's how we always
- 44:59Speaker 2: talk about it. If you've got a wrinkle and all
- 45:01Speaker 2: of a sudden the ball is going the other way,
- 45:03Speaker 2: six points that way, those are huge, huge swings in
- 45:06Speaker 2: the game. And so there's going to be a wrinkle
- 45:08Speaker 2: on each side. How can you capitalize off that wrinkle
- 45:10Speaker 2: is going to be the story of the game. OTB
- 45:18Speaker 2: mailbag for Matt.
- 45:20Speaker 4: Taking the my high hat off.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Is there any real difference between Gatorade and Powerade? Ooh.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Gatorade and Powerade. Good question.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Shout out to whoever sent this.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Uh, Gatorade, I mean, slightly.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Remember what Huck said. Okay.
- 45:37Speaker 3: So Gatorade tries, tries a little bit harder.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Than Powerade.
- 45:41Speaker 6: Yeah. They got like their sports, you know, they got
- 45:43Speaker 6: dietitians and stuff. They, they try harder. So they got
- 45:45Speaker 6: different products. Now they're baseline products about this, about very similar,
- 45:49Speaker 6: about the same. Um, And in heat like this, neither
- 45:53Speaker 6: one of them is going to do much for you.
- 45:56Speaker 6: You've got to have something that's more powerful. So drink
- 46:00Speaker 6: my high. But no, like their base formulas, they're pretty similar.
- 46:05Speaker 6: Last one before we take a break. Hashtag O2B mailbag.
- 46:08Speaker 2: If NFL overtime was settled by the two head coaches
- 46:10Speaker 2: cage fighting, what chance do you give the Saints against
- 46:12Speaker 2: the Lions?
- 46:12Speaker 4: I mean, no chance.
- 46:14Speaker 2: The Lions are beating every team in that.
- 46:16Speaker 4: How quickly is it over?
- 46:18Speaker 3: Undefeated. 72 Dolphins.
- 46:20Speaker 2: There's not a coach that's going to take. Dan Campbell.
- 46:22Speaker 2: And you can throw out names. I don't care.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Not one. It's not going to be one. Dan Seattle
- 46:27Speaker 3: would give a good, good.
- 46:28Speaker 2: He'd give a five, but Dan's much larger.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Braves and Campbell would be good.
- 46:31Speaker 2: No, I got Campbell.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Campbell.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Nick Underhill. When we come back. Off the bench. It'd
- 46:37Speaker 2: be a good fight. It'd be a good fight. Neither
- 46:38Speaker 2: one of them would quit.
