- 0:00Speaker 1: Stirring the pot one morning at a time. Welcome to
- 0:04Speaker 1: the Alabama show. So you remember how I ran four
- 0:17Speaker 1: miles two days ago? And this is like the first
- 0:19Speaker 1: time I've ran that far in probably 10 years.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Yeah, of course. Are you feeling the muscles gain? My legs.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I got stuck trying to go down the stairs at
- 0:31Speaker 1: work yesterday. You saw me. You were there. I did.
- 0:34Speaker 1: They aren't worse today. I don't know what to do.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I need a steamroller to steamroll these bad boys out. Yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 1: that's the best way to help those. Rub my quads
- 0:48Speaker 1: for me. I'm not touching you. Fine. I'd have done
- 0:53Speaker 1: it for you. No, you wouldn't have. No, I wouldn't have.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'd have laughed like you are. Anyway, well, good morning.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Thank you for being here. Happy Wednesday. What do we
- 1:01Speaker 1: have on the way? Ask Alabama, 7 o'clock. Yes, and
- 1:05Speaker 1: we have bad school pictures later today. I have a
- 1:07Speaker 1: funny story for you at 8 o'clock. It'll be good. Also,
- 1:11Speaker 1: crazy things people are doing in the news. What the
- 1:13Speaker 1: hell headlines? Somebody stole a Krispy Kreme truck to go
- 1:17Speaker 1: on a mission.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and then we've got what's awesome.
- 1:20Speaker 1: We want to know what your good news is. Yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 1: call us and tell us. Maybe we'll give you a
- 1:23Speaker 1: gift card to rock and roll sushi. Anyway, good morning.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Thank you for being here.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Stop.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It's what the hell headlines. What the hell are you
- 1:31Speaker 1: talking about?
- 1:32Speaker 2: On the Alabama show.
- 1:35Speaker 1: A Nashville man stole a Krispy Kreme truck and said
- 1:38Speaker 1: he was on a quest. What the hell? That's a
- 1:41Speaker 1: good quest. No, it's not. A Nashville man was arrested
- 1:44Speaker 1: after stealing a Krispy Kreme delivery truck from a Walmart
- 1:47Speaker 1: parking lot early Saturday morning. Umar is his name, 35
- 1:51Speaker 1: years old, took the truck from Walmart around 7 a.m.
- 1:54Speaker 1: after being removed from the store. Cops tracked the truck,
- 1:58Speaker 1: found it heading into a wooded area. And his explanation,
- 2:02Speaker 1: when they pulled him over and asked him what he
- 2:04Speaker 1: was doing, he said, I'm on a quest. I need
- 2:06Speaker 1: to accomplish the objective because everything was free. Like, what?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Is this Zelda? That's kind of scary. Anyway, he got
- 2:14Speaker 1: arrested and he has theft charges. What the hell?
- 2:18Speaker 2: Super easy trivia with the Alabama Show.
- 2:21Speaker 1: 833-501-BAMA is the number to call the show. Heather, good morning.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Where are you calling from? From Coleman. Are you ready
- 2:27Speaker 1: for Chris Kendall, the Chris Kendall Market? Absolutely. And October 5th.
- 2:32Speaker 1: When is Oktoberfest? October 5th.
- 2:34Speaker 3: I'm not sure the dates, but it's like a big celebration.
- 2:37Speaker 1: They do it at the same place. Yeah, me and
- 2:39Speaker 1: producer Blake need to come hang out at Octoberfest. We'll
- 2:42Speaker 1: come have a beer with you.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:44Speaker 1: All right, Heather, do you want to play super easy
- 2:47Speaker 1: trivia to win tickets to Rock the South?
- 2:50Speaker 4: Sure.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'll ask the questions and producer Blake is your lifeline.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So if you need him, you can let him answer
- 2:56Speaker 1: the question for you.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:58Speaker 1: All right, Heather, question number one. I'm a kitten. Don't
- 3:03Speaker 1: laugh at me, Blake. I'm a kitten. What sound do
- 3:09Speaker 1: I make when I'm happy? When I'm happy. I got
- 3:13Speaker 1: to finish this question. I can't because producer Blake lost it.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Stop.
- 3:22Speaker 1: What sound do I make when I'm happy?
- 3:24Speaker 4: Meow.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Purr. Purr.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Which one?
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm a kitten. Yes, I'm a kitten.
- 3:34Speaker 5: What sound do I make when I'm happy?
- 3:35Speaker 3: Purr.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Next question.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Fine.
- 3:40Speaker 1: What's a group of fish called? A school. And last
- 3:44Speaker 1: one for the win, Heather. What do we use to
- 3:46Speaker 1: measure temperature?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Thermometer.
- 3:49Speaker 1: That's it. Congratulations, Heather. You just won Super Easy Trivia.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It's three things you need to know with.
- 4:07Speaker 1: The Alabama Show. Today is a first alert weather day
- 4:10Speaker 1: with dangerous heat today through Saturday. Temperatures are going to
- 4:13Speaker 1: be in the upper 90s. Heat indexes are going to
- 4:15Speaker 1: reach 105 degrees or more. So make sure you stay
- 4:19Speaker 1: hydrated this weekend. Keep an eye on the weather, especially
- 4:22Speaker 1: if you're going to a football game or you're spending
- 4:24Speaker 1: long periods of time outside, especially because it's Labor Day weekend.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Don't forget, Monday is a holiday. Just stay weather alert.
- 4:31Speaker 1: A federal judge dismissed the harassment lawsuit against Lizzo's touring
- 4:36Speaker 1: company that was filed by Lizzo's former tour wardrobe designer.
- 4:40Speaker 1: The judge ruled that there was no proof that Lizzo's
- 4:42Speaker 1: big girl tour violated any laws. The wardrobe designer alleged
- 4:47Speaker 1: bullying during Lizzo's tour. There's still a separate lawsuit filed
- 4:51Speaker 1: by the three former backup dancers that is moving forward
- 4:54Speaker 1: to trial. So as that happens, we will keep you updated.
- 4:59Speaker 1: If you love Dolly Parton and you still want to
- 5:01Speaker 1: honor her across North America, corn mazes are going to
- 5:04Speaker 1: be popping up this fall. That is so cool. I
- 5:07Speaker 1: love corn mazes. This will benefit her imagination library. 20
- 5:11Speaker 1: farms across the U.S. and Canada are opening corn mazes
- 5:14Speaker 1: designed in tribute to Dolly and her imagination library. They
- 5:18Speaker 1: were already planned as part of the annual Country Music
- 5:20Speaker 1: Corn Maze campaign before Dolly passed away on August 25th.
- 5:23Speaker 1: This just makes it a little more special. Dolly's Imagination
- 5:27Speaker 1: Library gives free books to kids, which was founded in 1995.
- 5:31Speaker 1: That's three things you need to know. More at thealabamashow.com.
- 5:36Speaker 2: You're listening to The Alabama Show On Demand.
- 5:40Speaker 1: 833-501-BAMA is the number to call the show. Good morning, Jessica.
- 5:44Speaker 1: What's your issue for Ask Alabama? Okay, so my mother-in-law
- 5:49Speaker 1: wanted to come down for a visit.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Okay. And we're like, you know, we're in a really
- 5:53Speaker 3: small place.
- 5:54Speaker 1: So we're like, okay, how about, you know, we meet
- 5:57Speaker 1: you and go on a trip instead? amount of time
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean yeah do you have a
- 6:03Speaker 1: guest bedroom at your house like where was she planning.
- 6:05Speaker 4: On sleeping we do but it's just but.
- 6:09Speaker 1: It's a one one bathroom okay.
- 6:10Speaker 3: And the guest room is also like the office and
- 6:13Speaker 3: also like my.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Husband's like studio for stuff like it's just a multi-purpose.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Room really okay.
- 6:19Speaker 1: But it didn't work.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Because now we're going on a trip, but she's.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Still flying down here. We're traveling together for the trip,
- 6:26Speaker 1: traveling back, and then she's still staying for longer. Wait,
- 6:31Speaker 1: how long is she going to stay with y'all when
- 6:33Speaker 1: you get back from the trip? I mean, I think
- 6:35Speaker 1: it'll just be like a week in a day total
- 6:38Speaker 1: rather than a long weekend. Do you get along with
- 6:41Speaker 1: your mother-in-law?
- 6:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Yeah. You just like your personal space? Yeah, it's just
- 6:46Speaker 1: a lot. I get it. I live alone and I
- 6:50Speaker 1: have friends ask to come visit all the time. And
- 6:52Speaker 1: in theory, it's like, yeah, this will be great. But
- 6:55Speaker 1: in reality, once they get there, it stresses you out
- 6:58Speaker 1: more than work. What's she like with your husband? Does
- 7:03Speaker 1: she like try to tell you how to run the
- 7:04Speaker 1: house or do what? Or like, what's it like when
- 7:06Speaker 1: she gets there? Has she stayed in the.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Guest No, no, she's like, I won't, you know, I
- 7:14Speaker 3: won't make myself known.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Like, it's fine. But I'm like, well, you can't because
- 7:18Speaker 1: you can't stay in that room because you need to
- 7:20Speaker 1: be in and out of there to use it. Like,
- 7:21Speaker 1: there's just no, like, good scenario. What does your husband say?
- 7:25Speaker 4: He just sighs.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Well, I guess that's what's happening. Call the show. Do
- 7:36Speaker 1: you have survival tips for how to deal with a
- 7:38Speaker 1: mother-in-law when she comes to stay with you? 833-501-BAMA is
- 7:42Speaker 1: the number. That's 833-501-2262.
- 7:46Speaker 2: It's three things you need to know with the Alabama Show.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Our buddy Pink Beard straight out of Birmingham, Alabama on
- 7:54Speaker 1: America's Got Talent last night. He made it to the
- 7:56Speaker 1: live rounds. He performed an original song, On My Hood.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Was so good. Got a standing ovation from the judges
- 8:03Speaker 1: and from the audience. Here's part of that. Blood, my
- 8:07Speaker 1: sweat and my blood. I give it all for the love.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I give it all for the love.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I give it all. He's so good. And he got
- 8:17Speaker 1: emotional in the live rounds, too. And if man, if
- 8:20Speaker 1: you have never like we Pinkbeard is a friend of
- 8:23Speaker 1: the show. I have interviewed him before. Go follow the
- 8:26Speaker 1: She Drives Me Crazy podcast. He is such a good human.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So we are rooting for Pinkbeard. If you if you
- 8:31Speaker 1: watch America's Got Talent and you want to vote, go
- 8:33Speaker 1: vote for him because he is awesome and we hope
- 8:35Speaker 1: he wins. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey's dog made her
- 8:40Speaker 1: modeling debut. Wendy is the dog's name. She's in photos
- 8:43Speaker 1: with Travis for his Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2026 campaign. She's
- 8:48Speaker 1: a fluffy white Samoyed? Samoyed? Samoyed? What kind? Do you know?
- 8:53Speaker 1: I do not know. She's a cute fluffy white dog.
- 8:56Speaker 1: She looks like a little polar bear. She's awesome. If
- 8:58Speaker 1: you want to see her, she's in the photos on
- 9:00Speaker 1: Tommy Hilfiger's Instagram. Miley Cyrus announced her 10th album, Bass Persuades.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It'll be out September 18th. You got like two weeks.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I've been excited for this. I've been keeping up. I'm
- 9:13Speaker 1: waiting on a Miley Cyrus album. It'll be a 10
- 9:15Speaker 1: track synth driven dance record. Her label says the album
- 9:19Speaker 1: honors the influence of her godmother, Dolly Parton. She'll also
- 9:23Speaker 1: headline two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. on
- 9:25Speaker 1: October 16th and 18th, which will be her first full U.S.
- 9:28Speaker 1: concert since 2021. So Miley's back, baby. And that is
- 9:32Speaker 1: three things you need to know. More at thealabamashow.com.
- 9:36Speaker 2: You are listening to The Alabama Show On Demand.
- 9:40Speaker 1: If you ever have good news that you want to share,
- 9:42Speaker 1: call the show 833-501-BAMA. That's why we do What's Awesome.
- 9:46Speaker 1: We love to share the good news with the world.
- 9:48Speaker 1: This story might make me cry, and I'm going to
- 9:50Speaker 1: try not to because you know I'm an animal person. Yes,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I do know that. Correct. Nancy the dog, who was
- 9:56Speaker 1: this shelter's least wanted dog... just got adopted so there
- 10:01Speaker 1: was a tiktok influencer she calls herself an animal influencer
- 10:05Speaker 1: and she walked into an animal shelter and she said
- 10:08Speaker 1: can i meet your least wanted dog I didn't know
- 10:11Speaker 1: they had these.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Hang on.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Just let me get through this. It was a pit
- 10:15Speaker 1: bull named Nancy. I have a pit bull mix. And
- 10:18Speaker 1: most people are afraid of pit bulls because they just
- 10:21Speaker 1: don't want, especially one that's at a shelter. Nancy, she
- 10:25Speaker 1: was at the dog shelter after her owner passed away
- 10:28Speaker 1: and was really depressed. Not a single person had applied
- 10:32Speaker 1: to adopt her. Like she was just sitting in the
- 10:34Speaker 1: shelter alone and sad. And if you, man, my little
- 10:38Speaker 1: pity mix is the biggest baby. I will forever have
- 10:41Speaker 1: a soft spot in my heart now for Pitbull mixes
- 10:44Speaker 1: because I have a Pitbull mix and he is the biggest,
- 10:46Speaker 1: sweetest baby and I love him. And can you imagine
- 10:49Speaker 1: if your owner passes away, then all of a sudden
- 10:51Speaker 1: you're in this cage with all these strange dogs barking
- 10:54Speaker 1: around you and then nobody wants you. Anyway, the TikTok
- 10:57Speaker 1: influencer went and posted a video about her. She loved toys, kisses,
- 11:01Speaker 1: and time at the park. And everybody just fell in
- 11:05Speaker 1: love with her. And after a few weeks, she was
- 11:07Speaker 1: finally adopted. That is sweet. I do like good rehoming.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I do like this. Also, I like the story because
- 11:15Speaker 1: it's sparking conversations about pit bulls, which are really not
- 11:19Speaker 1: represented well in the U.S. Like, there's a stigma with
- 11:22Speaker 1: pit bulls. A lot of people are like, like, you know,
- 11:24Speaker 1: our guy next door, he's like, oh, a pit bull,
- 11:26Speaker 1: don't bring it in here. And it's how you write. Anyway,
- 11:30Speaker 1: I'm not going to go down that rabbit hole. But good.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Nancy got adopted. If you have good news you want
- 11:35Speaker 1: to share, call the show. 833-501-BAMA is the number.
- 11:39Speaker 2: You are listening to The Alabama Show. The following program
- 11:43Speaker 2: is on demand.
- 11:45Speaker 1: If you have kids, you have probably dealt with this recently.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I want you to call the show. 833-501-BAMA is the number.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Bad picture days. Those were the good days. I enjoyed
- 11:56Speaker 1: picture days. No, you did not. I did enjoy picture day.
- 11:58Speaker 1: It was a good time. My little cousin, Hannah, we
- 12:01Speaker 1: talk about on the show often. She is the voice of...
- 12:04Speaker 1: What the hell? That was her when she was young.
- 12:07Speaker 1: We grew up like sisters. She now has a two-year-old.
- 12:10Speaker 1: The two-year-old is like my best friend. I love this baby. Yesterday,
- 12:15Speaker 1: Hannah posted school pictures. And there's a picture of the
- 12:19Speaker 1: baby screaming and crying. It's a solid photo. I like
- 12:24Speaker 1: that photo. It's going to end up being a meme.
- 12:26Speaker 1: That's the picture. That's the picture that we're going to
- 12:28Speaker 1: show her on her wedding day.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Terror screaming. She also is terrified of like the Easter Bunny.
- 12:36Speaker 5: She cannot get pictures with the Easter Bunny. She screams
- 12:39Speaker 5: just like she did in her school picture and cries.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Over the Easter Bunny?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 1: But yeah, bad school pictures. Have you ever had a story,
- 12:47Speaker 1: like has anything ever gone wrong in your ears? Like
- 12:49Speaker 1: one time I showed up to school in fifth grade.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I forgot it was picture day and they told us
- 12:56Speaker 1: and I panicked and I called my mom, my grandmother
- 12:59Speaker 1: that raised me. So she decided to go through my
- 13:02Speaker 1: closet and pick out an outfit. Fifth grade is about
- 13:05Speaker 1: the time you start dressing like a normal person. She
- 13:07Speaker 1: found this corduroy dress. that looked like curtains with flowers
- 13:11Speaker 1: and the big poofy sleeves and a lace collar and
- 13:15Speaker 1: a bow for my hair and brought that to me.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Just like the old days. Yeah. I was like, I'm
- 13:21Speaker 1: too old to wear this dress. I can't do this.
- 13:24Speaker 1: She goes, no, you're going to wear this in your
- 13:26Speaker 1: pictures today. I think I burned all of those school
- 13:31Speaker 1: pictures after they came out. Would not. I was so embarrassed.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I want to find those photos so bad. Those would
- 13:37Speaker 1: be good to use. Do you have any bad ones?
- 13:41Speaker 1: For three years in a row, like fourth, fifth, and
- 13:43Speaker 1: sixth grade, they had to retake my photo like eight
- 13:45Speaker 1: times because they said I didn't have a good enough
- 13:47Speaker 1: face for it. Because I kept making weird faces, apparently.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Of course you did. I was just smiling with my teeth.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I didn't know it was that bad. But he said,
- 13:57Speaker 1: redo it. And he's like, you know what? I'll just
- 13:58Speaker 1: pick one. I'll make it work. Call the show. Bad
- 14:02Speaker 1: picture days. What happened when you had to go for
- 14:04Speaker 1: school photo day? Or do you have kids and they
- 14:06Speaker 1: had terrible photos right now? 833-501-2262.
- 14:09Speaker 2: You're listening to The Alabama Show On Demand.
- 14:16Speaker 1: 833-501-BAMA is the number to call the show. We're talking
- 14:18Speaker 1: about bad school picture days. Monique, do you have some
- 14:22Speaker 1: bad school pictures of your daughter that you have kept?
- 14:25Speaker 1: I do.
- 14:26Speaker 4: I hate to admit it, but I do. And she
- 14:29Speaker 4: would kill me if she found out that she did.
- 14:32Speaker 1: What do they look like? Is she crying? What's she doing? No.
- 14:35Speaker 4: So she went to school and her hair, it was
- 14:38Speaker 4: like when she was a little younger and her hair
- 14:40Speaker 4: was in like.
- 14:41Speaker 3: These Four ponytails With all.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Kinds of bows And stuff on it Yeah And I
- 14:46Speaker 4: think they Did their pictures After recess Okay So by
- 14:50Speaker 4: the time She was taking the picture It was like
- 14:52Speaker 4: Bows missing Hair flying So it's like Barely a smile
- 14:57Speaker 4: In the picture.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And you're gonna show that To her on her wedding
- 15:02Speaker 1: day Aren't you? Yes I love that Monique That's.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Great Thank you for letting me share I appreciate you
- 15:10Speaker 4: guys You're listening to The Alabama Show On Demand.
- 15:14Speaker 1: 833-501-BAMA is the number to call the show. Angela, good morning.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Do you have a bad school photo day story? I
- 15:21Speaker 1: sure do.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I had a guy who was a photographer in like
- 15:26Speaker 3: sixth grade.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 15:28Speaker 3: And he told me to say stinky feet. instead of
- 15:31Speaker 3: cheese okay he took the picture right when i made
- 15:35Speaker 3: the f noise the feet part.
- 15:38Speaker 1: So so did it look like you were just showing
- 15:40Speaker 1: your teeth.
- 15:41Speaker 3: It looked like i was like foot like just making
- 15:44Speaker 3: like that weird oh no with only my teeth showing
- 15:48Speaker 3: and curled.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Up oh no I think he thought you were going
- 15:53Speaker 1: to laugh instead of actually saying stinky feet. Like, I
- 15:56Speaker 1: wonder if he actually thought you were going to say,
- 15:58Speaker 1: and why didn't he do another one? Why didn't he redo?
- 16:02Speaker 3: Well, that's what I thought. Cause I was like, I
- 16:05Speaker 3: swear he took it right when I said feet, but.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Like, no, it'll be fine.
- 16:09Speaker 3: And then the picture came out.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Do you still have the photo?
- 16:13Speaker 3: I'd have to go look it up.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I'm not sure. Did your mom buy it? I haven't
- 16:16Speaker 1: seen it in years. She bought it. You kept it.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 16:19Speaker 3: No, but it went in the yearbook.
- 16:21Speaker 1: It went in the yearbook? Oh, even better. I love that.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Sixth grade, too, like when you're already insecure.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. Thank you for sharing.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yes, for sure.
