- 0:34Speaker 1: recording book watches, I'm still taught these introductions because we
- 0:36Speaker 1: don't actually have a script for our introductions.
- 0:39Speaker 2: No, no, we just we go off the cuff.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we just wing it.
- 0:43Speaker 2: You expect us gaze to be prepared with a script.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I don't think. So you must be here. We don't

- 1:23Speaker 2: He's single, Hey.
- 1:26Speaker 1: And rolling my eyes until they pop out of my
- 1:28Speaker 1: head every time he says I'm beautiful?
- 1:30Speaker 2: Like, am I not supposed to say my bestie is
- 1:33Speaker 2: not beautiful?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Of course I'm gonna say my best he is beautiful.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You can say whatever you want, but I'm not gonna
- 1:37Speaker 1: believe you, and I'm always gonna be all like.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Anyway, So now that the discuss the just sheer discuss
- 1:47Speaker 1: has passed. Uh, we're gonna continue with our longest story so.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Far before we get into that, though. If you look
- 1:58Speaker 3: in the description below, you'll see a link to the
- 2:01Speaker 3: link tree. They'll take it to the other podcast. I mean,
- 2:04Speaker 3: you know Board Productions family of podcasts. Did you.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Follow me on Twitter? I don't know their Twitter will
- 2:13Speaker 2: be in there, or if you want to go subscribe
- 2:15Speaker 2: on YouTube, please do so. Yeah, so there's also a
- 2:20Speaker 2: video component to this podcast, so go enjoy that on
- 2:24Speaker 2: YouTube if you want to see our faces. I'm bald
- 2:30Speaker 2: and reflect reflecting light to the point where I can
- 2:33Speaker 2: blind somebody right now.
- 2:34Speaker 3: But you know that's fine.
- 2:36Speaker 1: He has his own entourage following him around chanting.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Ball ball.
- 2:43Speaker 3: My eyes.
- 2:45Speaker 4: But yeah, you should definitely do something like that for.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yes, I'm bald, Yes, I'm bald. My god anyway, yuh.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Anyway, So, as I was saying, we are continuing with
- 3:05Speaker 1: probably our longest recorded series by so far, Yes, so
- 3:10Speaker 1: we are. Now we are going to be reviewing book
- 3:14Speaker 1: twelve of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.
- 3:17Speaker 1: This book is called The Gathering Storm. Yeah, so this
- 3:22Speaker 1: book is somewhat more special than the other books that
- 3:25Speaker 1: we reviewed so far, because this is the first book
- 3:30Speaker 1: that was not written by Robert Jordan. By this point,
- 3:34Speaker 1: Robert Jordan had unfortunately passed away. He passed away, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: let me actually get his let me actually get that
- 3:43Speaker 1: information future Devin got. So of course, not me forgetting
- 3:50Speaker 1: how to spell Jordan.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Wow, I'm just I'm the just one here. Don't come
- 3:57Speaker 3: from my gig.
- 3:59Speaker 1: All right. So Robert Jordan, he unfortunately passed away on
- 4:05Speaker 1: September sixteenth, two thousand and seven. So oh wow, we're
- 4:09Speaker 1: coming up on that anniversary. Yeah. So he was at
- 4:13Speaker 1: the ripe old age of fifty eight years, so it
- 4:18Speaker 1: was right. So it is very unfortunate because he passed
- 4:23Speaker 1: away before he could finish the Wheel of Time series.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And while I haven't really figured it out, I'm pretty
- 4:32Speaker 1: sure that he had many more books that he was
- 4:34Speaker 1: going to write for the Wheel of Time series. Unfortunately,
- 4:38Speaker 1: because due to his death, he never got to complete
- 4:42Speaker 1: his story. But a fellow author by the name of
- 4:47Speaker 1: Brandon Sanderson stepped in and finished his book free finished
- 4:52Speaker 1: his book. So now in the process of review Jordan's notes,
- 5:01Speaker 1: because thank god that before he passed Robert Jordan had
- 5:06Speaker 1: taken down extensive notes about what he planned to do
- 5:10Speaker 1: with his series, as well as what he had planned
- 5:15Speaker 1: for the Final Battle. Because all of these, this entire
- 5:20Speaker 1: story is leading up to the culmination of the Final Battle,
- 5:23Speaker 1: where the Dark One will finally be defeated and sealed
- 5:27Speaker 1: away once and for all. Yeah, and this will bring
- 5:32Speaker 1: the story to a close. Now unfortunate, since he passed away,
- 5:36Speaker 1: there will never be anymore We the Time novels unless
- 5:41Speaker 1: Brandon Sanderson gets permission from Jordan's estate to continue writing
- 5:47Speaker 1: using the Wheel of Time and their characters, or rather
- 5:50Speaker 1: just using the source material to create like either a
- 5:53Speaker 1: prequel series or a sequel. We'll never know. If the
- 5:59Speaker 1: Amazon TV show gets more popular, we might see more
- 6:03Speaker 1: Wheel of Time content. But until then, this is the
- 6:07Speaker 1: fourteen books that were released, or I'm sorry, the fifteen
- 6:10Speaker 1: books with the Companion as well as the Companion Guide.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's all we're going to get from Robert Jordan's work.
- 6:20Speaker 1: So I will say that these last three books Book twelve, thirteen,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and fourteen, you can definitely tell that. You can tell
- 6:31Speaker 1: that they have a different writing style. Sanderson was very
- 6:37Speaker 1: faithful to Jordan's work. He made sure to write it
- 6:41Speaker 1: in such a way that in such a way that
- 6:48Speaker 1: still captured the characters, their personality, the world, everything he
- 6:53Speaker 1: did his research. He did a phenomenal job. But towards
- 6:56Speaker 1: the end you could tell that there was a lot
- 6:57Speaker 1: of hints and a lot of stuff where it looked
- 7:00Speaker 1: like he just filled in the blanks, which is I'm
- 7:02Speaker 1: not saying is a bad thing. He did a really
- 7:04Speaker 1: good job, and towards the end, like I was actually
- 7:07Speaker 1: on the edge of my seat because like I'm over here,
- 7:11Speaker 1: like the fine it's the final battle, like a lot
- 7:13Speaker 1: of our favorite characters are are gonna are gonna die
- 7:16Speaker 1: and not gonna spoil I'm not spoiling anything, but a
- 7:18Speaker 1: lot of a lot of familiar faces will not make
- 7:21Speaker 1: it to the end of of book fourteen. So like
- 7:27Speaker 1: I was stressed, that book got me stressed.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I bet it sounds like that appisode's gonna be a
- 7:35Speaker 2: very stressful episode.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it was o it was heart wrenching, and but
- 7:45Speaker 1: all all the while it was it had me on
- 7:48Speaker 1: the edge of my seat and it but it came
- 7:51Speaker 1: to such a it came to such a wonderful conclusion
- 7:54Speaker 1: that it left me feeling like, God, what do I
- 7:56Speaker 1: do with my life. But at the same time, I'm
- 7:58Speaker 1: also like, I'm ready to move on because is this
- 8:01Speaker 1: series was long, and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it
- 8:04Speaker 1: every step of the way. And I hope you guys,
- 8:07Speaker 1: if you if you chose to just follow us along
- 8:09Speaker 1: in this in our podcast, or if you're reading the
- 8:12Speaker 1: books yourself or watching this show, I hope you guys
- 8:14Speaker 1: are enjoying it all right, because it is a really
- 8:17Speaker 1: good series. All right, So, without further adieu, go ahead
- 8:25Speaker 1: and get started. That was a weird face. I'm not
- 8:29Speaker 1: gonna do that again.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna make that face the video of thumbnail.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I hate you.
- 8:38Speaker 3: It's it's in recording now.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I hate you.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I want to do it yeap that.
- 8:49Speaker 3: That's such a dad.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I hate you so much And how dare you call
- 8:53Speaker 1: me that?
- 8:54Speaker 2: It's such a dad phase. Like it's like it's trying
- 8:57Speaker 2: to be hot, but it's giving dad phase. Hm.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Okay, all right, So without further ado, let's go ahead
- 9:06Speaker 1: and get into the story. So, like I've been doing before.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So the books, they like any series, like any book
- 9:16Speaker 1: that has multiple perspectives, it does go back and forth
- 9:19Speaker 1: between different characters. In the Gathering Storm, the story will
- 9:25Speaker 1: be focused mostly on Rn Iguaine. I'm sorry Rn and Aquaine. Also,
- 9:32Speaker 1: it'll be focusing a little bit more on Ninive as
- 9:35Speaker 1: well as kat Swain and even Avienda. We're not gonna
- 9:39Speaker 1: see much of Elaine in this story, or Matt or Paren.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Matt does have somewhat of a presence towards towards near
- 9:46Speaker 1: the end, but other than that, we're not gonna see
- 9:50Speaker 1: much of him. Everything's all said, why see much of him?
- 9:55Speaker 1: All I can say about him is that he's now
- 9:57Speaker 1: he's making sure he gets back to Camln, so he
- 10:01Speaker 1: can of course deliver the Isid Eye to their kin,
- 10:04Speaker 1: as well as deliver Elodra to the Queen Elaine, so
- 10:12Speaker 1: that way they may begin building her new weapons. So
- 10:16Speaker 1: we'll talk a little bit about that in this book,
- 10:18Speaker 1: but they won't have much of a story onto book thirteen.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And let me tell you something book thirteen. So I
- 10:30Speaker 1: will tell you about book thirteen. Book thirteen is when
- 10:33Speaker 1: the final battle really begins. I will say that. So
- 10:41Speaker 1: the final battle begins in book thirteen, but it begins,
- 10:45Speaker 1: but yet at the same time, it doesn't go into
- 10:47Speaker 1: full swing, not just yet. So for this story, I'm
- 10:55Speaker 1: gonna talk a little bit about some of the minor
- 10:58Speaker 1: side stories. Of course, in the prologue of the Gathering
- 11:03Speaker 1: Storm talks a little bit more about the border It
- 11:08Speaker 1: talks a little bit about the borderlands, how ordinary people
- 11:11Speaker 1: begin to head north to fight in Tomer Guiden. The
- 11:14Speaker 1: signs are all clear. There's a Now we're beginning to
- 11:17Speaker 1: see just a continuous overcast over the entire world. No
- 11:21Speaker 1: matter where you go. The sun is gone. There's no
- 11:24Speaker 1: it's just starting to become gloomy day in and day out.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Bubbles of evil are popping up more and more often
- 11:33Speaker 1: causing very chaotic and often lethal effects. So, in the
- 11:41Speaker 1: wake of his meeting with the so called Daughter of
- 11:45Speaker 1: the Nine Moon, Ran ends up walking away without his
- 11:49Speaker 1: left hand and as but with a new prisoner, the
- 11:53Speaker 1: most bloodthirsty of the forsake in Semarage. So Samarage had
- 11:58Speaker 1: tricked him into a meeting with the sean Chan's leader,
- 12:03Speaker 1: who is Tuon, the daughter of the nine Moons. But
- 12:06Speaker 1: she disguised herself as Tuon, and when Rand confronted her, Uh,
- 12:11Speaker 1: Semarage attacked and this end This ended with Ran losing
- 12:16Speaker 1: a hand and Semarage was captured. Uh Ran had also
- 12:21Speaker 1: captured several of the Demane as well as as they're
- 12:25Speaker 1: sold on, so there was there was like a good
- 12:28Speaker 1: number of them. Most of them were captured, several had
- 12:30Speaker 1: died in the in the scuffle. Ran set them all
- 12:33Speaker 1: free and sent them back to the UH. Sent them
- 12:38Speaker 1: back to Abu Dhar so they can meet with the
- 12:40Speaker 1: real daughter of the Nine Moons and informer of what
- 12:43Speaker 1: just happened here, Ran is still trying to sue for
- 12:46Speaker 1: peace with the sean Chan because he knows that they're
- 12:50Speaker 1: going to be needed in the in the coming battles.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Also in this UH, also in the prologue that Energem
- 13:00Speaker 1: the Shaun Sewan's banner, General Tylie Kirgan, after completing her
- 13:06Speaker 1: campaign against the shidow ay Eel and of course with
- 13:09Speaker 1: her partnership with Parenth, she she and her forces began
- 13:14Speaker 1: their march back to Abu Dhar, but only to be
- 13:16Speaker 1: ambushed by hundreds of Trialaks only a day's march from
- 13:20Speaker 1: Abu Dhar. So talks are now beginning to appear further way,
- 13:27Speaker 1: far further south from the borderlands and expected because Abudar
- 13:32Speaker 1: is like on the very southern tip of the continent,
- 13:36Speaker 1: it's on the southern coast of the Westland continent, all right.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And for those of you who if you're you're probably guessing, yes,
- 13:45Speaker 1: the Trlaks are using the ways, the way gates to
- 13:48Speaker 1: move all across the west Lands. Now, Rand had sent
- 13:53Speaker 1: Loyal and later had sent Loyal's mentor to find the
- 13:57Speaker 1: remaining gate way gates and make sure that they're all
- 14:00Speaker 1: sealed so that way the Talks can't use them to
- 14:03Speaker 1: ambush their forces and start popping up in random places. Yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 1: near the end of the prologue, the Forsaken Meat the
- 14:13Speaker 1: remaining Forsaken Meat. At this point, less than half of
- 14:18Speaker 1: the original thirteen Forsaken are still alive. So that includes Grendel, Aarangar, Mordan, Masana,
- 14:32Speaker 1: and Demon Dread. Oh and god, it's Landfair's new name.
- 14:41Speaker 1: It's Landfair, but she's now called Sindane and then of
- 14:45Speaker 1: course Mogeddian. So these are the lot. These are the
- 14:49Speaker 1: only living Forsaken. All the other ones are dead or well,
- 14:56Speaker 1: yeah they're dead. They ain't coming back. Now. Austinar, who
- 15:02Speaker 1: was the reincarnation of Agonor, since he died in book
- 15:09Speaker 1: nine in the assault against Ran during the cleansing, he
- 15:14Speaker 1: had already used up his second chance. So after being
- 15:18Speaker 1: killed as in his first life is Agonre and being
- 15:21Speaker 1: reincarnated as Ostinar, that was the Dark One's only chance,
- 15:25Speaker 1: his only chance the Dark One gave him. So now
- 15:28Speaker 1: that he's dead, his soul belongs to the Dark One.
- 15:31Speaker 1: There ain't coming back from it. All the other Forsaken
- 15:34Speaker 1: have been killed in ways that will prevent the Dark
- 15:38Speaker 1: One from transmigrating their souls into new bodies. Being killed
- 15:44Speaker 1: by bailfire is perma death. Well not so much perma
- 15:50Speaker 1: perma death. Their spirit still exists. It's just that since
- 15:53Speaker 1: it burned, since bailfire burns your thread in the pattern,
- 15:58Speaker 1: technically you die moments before you actually died. So anything
- 16:05Speaker 1: you've done, like a very powerful blast of bailfire can
- 16:08Speaker 1: wipe out anything you've done within like within several hours
- 16:12Speaker 1: or even several days. So if you killed somebody and
- 16:14Speaker 1: then somebody kills you with bellfire, oh look, the person
- 16:17Speaker 1: you just killed is alive because you technically didn't kill
- 16:21Speaker 1: them now and it's because of that, Like, if you
- 16:25Speaker 1: want to know more information about bellfire, just google it.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm explaining it the best that I can, the best
- 16:30Speaker 1: way that I can, but bailfire right now is the
- 16:36Speaker 1: only surefire way to kill forsaken without the without giving
- 16:42Speaker 1: the allowing the dark Ones to resurrect them, because once
- 16:45Speaker 1: they're killed with bellfire, their spirits technically departed our world
- 16:48Speaker 1: moments before instead of in the except in this moment,
- 16:54Speaker 1: so the dark One can't reach out, grab their souls
- 16:56Speaker 1: and put it in another vessel. Yeah, so these are
- 17:01Speaker 1: the last of the forsaken. Mordan orders the others to
- 17:06Speaker 1: order the others that they are not to rescue Samarage because,
- 17:09Speaker 1: in his anger, he believes Semarage acted brashly and also
- 17:13Speaker 1: defied his order to leave Rand alone. Rand was not
- 17:17Speaker 1: to be messed with. There'd be no plots against him,
- 17:21Speaker 1: all right, save for anything that Mordan specifically tells him
- 17:25Speaker 1: to do. So in this meeting, Mordan orders Grendall to
- 17:34Speaker 1: ensure Ran does not bring peace to the land of
- 17:37Speaker 1: Arid Domin. Ered Domin is a country in the north
- 17:42Speaker 1: western part of the of the Westlands. It's just south
- 17:47Speaker 1: of the Borderlands, but it's along the western coastline. It's
- 17:51Speaker 1: actually not that far from Falm, where the Shaan Shan
- 17:54Speaker 1: originally made landfall. In fact, the Sean Sean are currently
- 17:59Speaker 1: planning on arching on ared Domen. Uh so Grendl now
- 18:06Speaker 1: Grendel who yes, for those of you who are guessing,
- 18:09Speaker 1: she is currently fighting in ard Doman. She is now
- 18:18Speaker 1: or to do everything she can to prevent ran from
- 18:20Speaker 1: Brady's that either by capturing the Domini King or scattering
- 18:26Speaker 1: the Merchant Council, who is technically the ruling uh the
- 18:31Speaker 1: ruling class of ared Domen. And aside from the Forsaken's meeting,
- 18:37Speaker 1: we also get a small look at one of the
- 18:41Speaker 1: great captains of the Westlands, a man named Rhoda Rodel
- 18:48Speaker 1: had been fighting a sort of uh he's been He's
- 18:55Speaker 1: been fighting a losing battle against the Sean Shawn. He
- 18:58Speaker 1: had led uh scattered for it. He had led scattered
- 19:02Speaker 1: forces against them in tan Chico and they have been
- 19:05Speaker 1: slowly pushing him back north into Arid Doman. But Rodo
- 19:09Speaker 1: Itterol proofs has been proving time and again why he's
- 19:12Speaker 1: one of the great captains of the Westlands, and he's
- 19:15Speaker 1: continuously outmaneuvered the Shan Shan at every move. But the
- 19:19Speaker 1: thing about the Shan Sean is that they are very persistent,
- 19:21Speaker 1: and Itterrald has very he has a very small forces.
- 19:28Speaker 1: He doesn't have much resources, he doesn't have support from
- 19:30Speaker 1: any of the other nations, so he's making he's getting
- 19:34Speaker 1: by with literal scraps. And the Shan Sean, realizing that
- 19:40Speaker 1: Iterauld is much more of a danger than anyone than
- 19:45Speaker 1: they they had originally given him credit for, they sent
- 19:49Speaker 1: a large force of about one hundred and fifty thousand
- 19:52Speaker 1: soldiers against him. Now, Itol had been slowly drawing them
- 19:56Speaker 1: into a trap, and so they were in until they
- 19:59Speaker 1: had come to a until they came to a small
- 20:05Speaker 1: to a smaller city just somewhere in the Almouth planes,
- 20:11Speaker 1: and it all had lured them into the city. But
- 20:15Speaker 1: the city was actually wasn't full of his soldiers like
- 20:17Speaker 1: they thought, but it was full of captured soldiers of
- 20:21Speaker 1: the shan Chan and other prisoners. So while the Sean
- 20:25Speaker 1: Shan were confused seeing all these like non combatants, it
- 20:31Speaker 1: all ambushes the Shan Shan's army and brutally defeats them.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So this is an army. Shan Chan's battalion typically not
- 20:43Speaker 1: typically is made up of of course regular foot soldiers
- 20:46Speaker 1: in cavalry, but it also has a small contingent of
- 20:51Speaker 1: aerial creatures called rakin. So they do have air power,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and they also have the Damane. They do have pairings
- 21:02Speaker 1: of Souldam and demane, but it ll all figured out
- 21:06Speaker 1: how to take those guys out really quickly, because once
- 21:09Speaker 1: you kill the Suldam there's really nothing you can do.
- 21:13Speaker 1: The Demane are not only useless, but they also die
- 21:17Speaker 1: because they because the ad M inflicts the same the
- 21:21Speaker 1: same punishment onto the Demani that happens onto a Souldam.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So if a Suldam gets hurt, the Domani feels it.
- 21:27Speaker 1: So if and if a Suldan dies, the Demane dies.
- 21:31Speaker 1: So they figured out how to take out the how
- 21:34Speaker 1: to take out their channelers just by simply taking out
- 21:37Speaker 1: the more vulnerable Suldam. And in the wake of the
- 21:47Speaker 1: Battle of Malden, Uh the profit of the Dragon Massema,
- 21:55Speaker 1: he broke. He quickly, He had quickly broke ties in
- 21:58Speaker 1: the chaos Uh left in the wake of the battle,
- 22:03Speaker 1: and he tried to escape because Paren had Uh he
- 22:07Speaker 1: had tactfully used Uh Missma's forces, which was a ragtag
- 22:13Speaker 1: team of like thousands of peasants and just normal people
- 22:18Speaker 1: armed with just basic weaponry. He had basically sent all
- 22:23Speaker 1: these people against the Shadow, ay Eel and the Shidow,
- 22:27Speaker 1: of course, had massacred most of Massema's forces. Those that
- 22:32Speaker 1: remained tried to escape and flee and with Missma leading them,
- 22:38Speaker 1: but before they could get far, Fayel, who had been
- 22:42Speaker 1: freed by Parent, she led. She led her own small
- 22:46Speaker 1: contingent of forces against them, and she had Massema executed. Yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 1: so Parent technically Parent felled his mission to bring Missema
- 22:58Speaker 1: to Ren in order for Rand to bring the profit
- 23:01Speaker 1: of the Dragon under control. But the thing is, Missema
- 23:06Speaker 1: was not There was no controlling Massema. And if anything,
- 23:10Speaker 1: Massemma wasn't a true believer in Rand because like, yes,
- 23:15Speaker 1: he preached the coming of the Dragon reborn and he
- 23:20Speaker 1: did all this shit to make sure that like Rand's
- 23:23Speaker 1: message and glory was spread. But he incided. He ended
- 23:27Speaker 1: up inciting the masses and driving himself into madness. So
- 23:33Speaker 1: he was basically just a rabid dog at this point
- 23:35Speaker 1: that needed to be put down. And fail was like,
- 23:39Speaker 1: you know, my husband is a good man. He knows
- 23:43Speaker 1: and he does what he needs to do, But there
- 23:46Speaker 1: are some things a wife has to take. There are
- 23:48Speaker 1: some things that a wife just has to do for
- 23:51Speaker 1: her husband m H. So she ends up capturing and
- 23:55Speaker 1: executing Missema and any remaining dragon like any remaining dragon
- 24:03Speaker 1: sworn Jesus yep. So we're not gonna see Macema anymore.
- 24:09Speaker 1: That's honestly, Uh. That was a band aid that was ripped,
- 24:14Speaker 1: that was ripped cleanly off. So we're gonna start into
- 24:18Speaker 1: the main part of the story. There's some other there's
- 24:21Speaker 1: some smaller like there's some smaller side stories, particularly concerning
- 24:32Speaker 1: Uh like some of Rand's other followers and other others
- 24:36Speaker 1: of his allies. Ran had ordered the a Eel to
- 24:41Speaker 1: move from Camlin Uh for he I'm sorry, let me
- 24:45Speaker 1: back up. So Ran had ordered the Iel forces that
- 24:48Speaker 1: were scattered across uh and Or and parts of Kyrine
- 24:53Speaker 1: to begin moving west to take h being moving west
- 25:01Speaker 1: to take rid Doman to secure that region because right
- 25:07Speaker 1: now arid Domen is locked in a civil in somewhat
- 25:11Speaker 1: of a civil war. The merchant council are basically been
- 25:16Speaker 1: fighting amongst themselves. The king of the King of arad
- 25:21Speaker 1: Domen had vanished and nobody knows where he went, and
- 25:29Speaker 1: Grendel has been sewing chaos in her in her territory.
- 25:35Speaker 1: So she's been doing this, so Grendel was the one
- 25:37Speaker 1: who's been behind all of it. So Ruark, who is
- 25:43Speaker 1: one of the clan leaders of the a Eel, quickly
- 25:48Speaker 1: takes control of bandr Eben, which is one of the
- 25:53Speaker 1: capital cities of ried Doman. But he's frustrated because Ran
- 25:58Speaker 1: had forbidden him from uh taking the fifth. The Ael
- 26:02Speaker 1: have a custom that when they conquer or lay siege
- 26:06Speaker 1: to another like clan, to another holdout or city, they
- 26:10Speaker 1: take a fifth of every of like all the possessions
- 26:14Speaker 1: in that city. So it's like they basically plunder the
- 26:18Speaker 1: city but without full but they don't take everything. They
- 26:22Speaker 1: just take a fifth, like all right, we want so
- 26:24Speaker 1: we're gonna take a fifth of everything that's here and
- 26:26Speaker 1: this is ours. These are our spoils of war, and
- 26:30Speaker 1: that's all. It's just part of ay Eel custom custom.
- 26:33Speaker 1: But therefront the Ayel will become frustrated because several times
- 26:36Speaker 1: Ran has forbidden them from doing that in the west Lands,
- 26:39Speaker 1: but they've had to They've had to just basically suck
- 26:42Speaker 1: it up because the Westlanders view plundering much differently than
- 26:48Speaker 1: the Ayel do, whereas the Ie'll see it as Okay,
- 26:51Speaker 1: it's just part of our waist. We just only take
- 26:53Speaker 1: the fifth the Westlanders to see it as just pure
- 26:56Speaker 1: thievery Yeah, all right. Avienda, who was ordered by the
- 27:02Speaker 1: Wise Ones to leave Camlin and continue traveling with them
- 27:06Speaker 1: so she can complete her training, has begun to be
- 27:09Speaker 1: given strange orders from the wise Ones. The wise Ones
- 27:13Speaker 1: began to order her to do weird tasks, often like
- 27:17Speaker 1: very mundane and useless tasks like stacking stones, counting seeds,
- 27:24Speaker 1: walking back and forth with her arms held out, like
- 27:27Speaker 1: really useless tax tasks, and among the iel useless tasks
- 27:33Speaker 1: like these aren't even given to Guy Shane, who are
- 27:38Speaker 1: their form of indentured service servants. Usually these kind of
- 27:44Speaker 1: tasks are only given to people they call Daxne for
- 27:51Speaker 1: I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing that right, but it's
- 27:53Speaker 1: the lowliest of lowest person that the Ayeel can ever
- 27:57Speaker 1: call you, all right, that's like the most dishonorable. That's
- 28:02Speaker 1: that a person who's labeled a dak Saying is considered
- 28:05Speaker 1: very dishonorable and lower than even a Guy Shane. And
- 28:10Speaker 1: even and they treat Guy Shane very well. So if
- 28:13Speaker 1: you're Guy Shane, you you're not. You don't have to
- 28:16Speaker 1: worry about like being beaten senselessly as a slave or
- 28:19Speaker 1: treated as a slave. You're just serving for one year
- 28:21Speaker 1: in a day, and then once that's over, you can go.
- 28:27Speaker 1: But she's but Avianna of course, becomes very frustrated, and
- 28:33Speaker 1: being an apprentice, she doesn't question it yet, but it's
- 28:36Speaker 1: it's hinted that the wise ones are challenging her, secretly
- 28:40Speaker 1: challenging her to question their judgment, to stand up to her,
- 28:44Speaker 1: for her to stand up for herself, which is uh,
- 28:47Speaker 1: which is out of character for an apprentice to do. Yeah,
- 28:53Speaker 1: we also see more uh. We also see some a
- 28:57Speaker 1: short story, little side story concerning Elaine Trecan's brother, Gwan Trecan. So,
- 29:06Speaker 1: of course Elaine has two brothers, Gallad Demadred, who is
- 29:10Speaker 1: technically her half brother, and then of course her full brother,
- 29:15Speaker 1: Gowain Trecan. Gowen has been with the White Tower pretty
- 29:20Speaker 1: much since this, pretty much since Elaine has originally arrived,
- 29:26Speaker 1: and even when the schism happened. As the schism happened
- 29:30Speaker 1: the White Tower was divided, Gwen has been serving the
- 29:34Speaker 1: ice at I faithfully, although lately he has begun to
- 29:36Speaker 1: question his allegiance because he's in the wake of the Schism.
- 29:42Speaker 1: When Swan Sanchi was deposed, Gwen had led a force
- 29:46Speaker 1: of other warders and warters in training against their own teachers,
- 29:54Speaker 1: against the warders that had sided with the rebels, and
- 29:58Speaker 1: helped to resecure the White Tower and the of the Schism.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And so because of this, Gowan had been given command
- 30:05Speaker 1: of those very warders in training and their group became
- 30:10Speaker 1: known as the Younglings. Now the Younglings, Gowan and his
- 30:14Speaker 1: Young Wings have been sent to scout the rebel eyes
- 30:17Speaker 1: that I forces, and he's been causing them trouble, but
- 30:21Speaker 1: he's not able to get very far because he's now
- 30:24Speaker 1: dealing with his He's now contending with his own mentor,
- 30:29Speaker 1: Gareth Brynn. Gareth Bryan is also another one of the
- 30:33Speaker 1: five Great Captains of the Westland. So Rhodel Iltererald was
- 30:38Speaker 1: one of them, Davren Bashir is another, and Gareth Brynn
- 30:43Speaker 1: is another as well. The other two are Pedrinial, who
- 30:50Speaker 1: was the leader of the White Cloaks before he was
- 30:52Speaker 1: killed by the Shan Shahn, and the other is Lord
- 30:59Speaker 1: Egelmayer Anglemar Anglemar I can never pronounce He's He's one
- 31:08Speaker 1: of the high lords of the borderland country of China.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Oh gotcha, yep, So we won't be seeing much of
- 31:17Speaker 1: him as of right now. He will have a much
- 31:20Speaker 1: bigger role in book thirteen and fourteen. Last time we
- 31:24Speaker 1: saw the last time he had a big role in
- 31:27Speaker 1: the story was actually in book one and two, because
- 31:32Speaker 1: that's when he was first introduced, and also we saw
- 31:34Speaker 1: a little bit more of him in book two, but
- 31:36Speaker 1: since then we have not seen much of him anyway.
- 31:39Speaker 1: So even though Gowan knows his mentor's tactics and like
- 31:45Speaker 1: his habits, Gareth Brin is considered one of the great
- 31:49Speaker 1: captains for a reason. He is a brilliant tactician and
- 31:52Speaker 1: there's hardly any campaign that he has not been successful at.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Yeah, and.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Gowan becomes frustrated because his time so his job was
- 32:06Speaker 1: not only to scout the rebel forces, but also to
- 32:08Speaker 1: harry them and prevent any supplies from being delivered to
- 32:11Speaker 1: their camp. But somehow he's not able to figure out
- 32:14Speaker 1: how they're getting their supplies. Little does he know, the
- 32:17Speaker 1: reason the rebels are able to get supplies regardless of
- 32:19Speaker 1: being cut off by Gowan is because they're using gateways
- 32:23Speaker 1: in order to get there to get their supplies, so
- 32:26Speaker 1: they're able to just simply teleport the supplies they need.
- 32:31Speaker 1: And Gowen is very is highly convinced that the White
- 32:37Speaker 1: Tower's Amulyn Elida is deliberately trying to get him and
- 32:40Speaker 1: his men killed. She sees and it is true because
- 32:46Speaker 1: Aleida sees Gowen as nothing but trouble. She only keeps
- 32:51Speaker 1: them around because he provides her with a link and
- 32:56Speaker 1: some form of bartering chip like bargaining chip or and
- 33:01Speaker 1: or seeing that he is the first prince all right,
- 33:04Speaker 1: he is very important to the end Oran, to the
- 33:09Speaker 1: end Or and nobility, especially to their new Queen Elaine.
- 33:16Speaker 1: We're going to go back briefly to Rodell it'ral so
- 33:27Speaker 1: with it'sral his force in the wake of in the
- 33:35Speaker 1: wake of his campaign against the Shan Shan and after
- 33:38Speaker 1: defeating their massive force of one hundred and fifty thousand soldiers,
- 33:45Speaker 1: Rodell in the process lost half of his men, about
- 33:48Speaker 1: fifty thousand men. He was success He succeeded against the
- 33:52Speaker 1: Shan Shan, but in the end he was left with
- 33:54Speaker 1: only half his forces, all right, iterall. After defeating them,
- 34:02Speaker 1: he does confront the Shaw the General. The General of
- 34:08Speaker 1: the shan Shan, a man named Turan. They had his
- 34:11Speaker 1: forces had captured the shawn Shan general Tehuran, and questions
- 34:16Speaker 1: him for a bit. Turan gives them, gives them kudos
- 34:20Speaker 1: where it's due, like, so this is what it's like
- 34:22Speaker 1: going against one of the great captains of the Westlands,
- 34:25Speaker 1: one of the five great captains. I salute you, sir,
- 34:29Speaker 1: and it's like toats and then beheads him. Uh. But
- 34:36Speaker 1: before he beheaded him, it Ault admitted to the general
- 34:38Speaker 1: that he knows that he's he's fighting and losing battle,
- 34:41Speaker 1: so he's gonna but he's gonna keep fighting because that's
- 34:43Speaker 1: all he can do. Later later, Iteraul had retreated to
- 34:52Speaker 1: a nearby O Gear steading. The o Gear had agreed
- 34:55Speaker 1: to allow him and his forces to take shelter in
- 34:58Speaker 1: their steadying at least while they prepare for their next
- 35:03Speaker 1: assault against the shan Shan. However, Iterault is approached by
- 35:08Speaker 1: Rand himself. Rand enters his camp and introduces him, and
- 35:13Speaker 1: he orders a peace with the shan Shan. Refusing to
- 35:16Speaker 1: continue the conflict as there's no time since the last
- 35:19Speaker 1: battle is coming. Iterault is somewhat pushed to agree by
- 35:26Speaker 1: Rand's tabarin nature. When Ran is around you, you can't
- 35:30Speaker 1: help but feel like you must do what he says.
- 35:33Speaker 1: He's not compelling you to do it. Being a tavern,
- 35:38Speaker 1: he's literally changing your fate. Interacting with him changes your fate.
- 35:42Speaker 1: So while the pattern may have had other ideas for you,
- 35:45Speaker 1: when Rand comes around, he shuffles the board. So Iterault
- 35:52Speaker 1: agrees to help him by securing the borderlands because right
- 35:56Speaker 1: now the border lands are not being defended by their forces.
- 36:02Speaker 1: In the wake of rance rise to power, the Borderlanders
- 36:06Speaker 1: had noticed that the trillic assault, the usual trillic assaults
- 36:11Speaker 1: against their lands, had pretty much ceased to happen. There
- 36:16Speaker 1: was little There was no more incursions into their lands,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and this gave the This gave the Borderlanders time to
- 36:25Speaker 1: reflect and looked and looked to the south and see
- 36:28Speaker 1: what's going on with the other lands, because they noticed,
- 36:31Speaker 1: because they began to notice that Rand had come into
- 36:34Speaker 1: power and was causing chaos across the Westlands. And the
- 36:40Speaker 1: Saldean Queen was particularly angered by the comings and goings
- 36:48Speaker 1: of Rand because Rand had recruited her greatest general, Davren Bashir,
- 36:52Speaker 1: who was also one of the great the five Great
- 36:55Speaker 1: Captains so that's kind of how that came as a
- 36:58Speaker 1: bit of a blow to her, because you know, Rand
- 37:01Speaker 1: basically poached her greatest asset from her Yea. Even though
- 37:06Speaker 1: Rand wasn't the one who recruited Bashier, Baschir was the
- 37:10Speaker 1: one that said, Hey, you're the dragon reborn, I'm gonna
- 37:13Speaker 1: join you.
- 37:16Speaker 3: M hm.
- 37:18Speaker 1: End up story. So Rand takes it Araul and his
- 37:25Speaker 1: remaining forces and distributes them evenly across the borderlands. Because
- 37:29Speaker 1: right now, the Borderlanders and their after seeing what Rand
- 37:33Speaker 1: has been doing, decided to take a step decided to intervene.
- 37:37Speaker 1: They gathered their forces and ed march south. What they
- 37:39Speaker 1: wanted to do was bring Rand, or at least what
- 37:42Speaker 1: they claimed to do, was to bring Rand to heel
- 37:45Speaker 1: and make him answer for the things he'd done. So
- 37:50Speaker 1: pretty much the majority of the Borderlander forces have left,
- 37:55Speaker 1: and now that the last battle is coming, there's no
- 37:58Speaker 1: one to defend the borderlands. The borderlands are the literal
- 38:02Speaker 1: first line of defense. You can't really defend the first
- 38:05Speaker 1: line of defense if you don't have soldiers. So Rand
- 38:09Speaker 1: sends him there and orders him to hold out until
- 38:13Speaker 1: Ran is able to gather the remaining forces of the
- 38:16Speaker 1: Westlands and send help in the coming battle. And I
- 38:22Speaker 1: have to say we do see Iterl a little bit
- 38:27Speaker 1: more in the rest of the story. The problem is
- 38:31Speaker 1: is that Itderal is now once again fighting a losing battle.
- 38:35Speaker 1: All right. He has limited forces and he's been given
- 38:37Speaker 1: vague orders to just hold the line. Meanwhile, meanwhile, we
- 38:45Speaker 1: don't really see Land in this story, at least not
- 38:49Speaker 1: by much, at least not very often. But Land is
- 38:54Speaker 1: currently making his way across the borderlands to Tollman's Gap,
- 39:00Speaker 1: where he will where he will fight what he believes
- 39:04Speaker 1: to be a final, last last stand against the coming
- 39:09Speaker 1: trolic forces. And while as he's traveling, he's current Land
- 39:14Speaker 1: begins to be uh. Land is joined by other members
- 39:18Speaker 1: of his long dead nation of malk Her. So remnants
- 39:23Speaker 1: of the malk Her of the Malkier nation began to
- 39:26Speaker 1: join him. Uh. He wanted to travel in secret and
- 39:30Speaker 1: you know, stealthily, but his wife Ninive had gone across
- 39:36Speaker 1: the border lands and spread the words saying the King
- 39:39Speaker 1: of malk Her is raising the Golden Crane banner and
- 39:45Speaker 1: he needs his and he needs his people to help him.
- 39:48Speaker 1: So all these old malk here Ins because Malkire fell
- 39:51Speaker 1: about fifty years ago. So you have all these old
- 39:54Speaker 1: coats running to him as dragging their sons and grandsons
- 39:58Speaker 1: with them, and they're all like, we're here to support
- 40:02Speaker 1: We're here to support our king because len is the
- 40:04Speaker 1: last king of malk Heir. So he's gathering at forces
- 40:09Speaker 1: and heading for Tolman's Gap and and unfortunately for Iteralled,
- 40:21Speaker 1: his forces get pushed back to the point that they're
- 40:24Speaker 1: pretty much gonna lose. But unfortunately we're not going to
- 40:27Speaker 1: see much of him after that. We will see more
- 40:32Speaker 1: of Iteralled in book thirteen, and this is when we
- 40:40Speaker 1: will see the true beginning of the final battle, and
- 40:46Speaker 1: we also get to see ran Flex's his newfound power. Yes,
- 40:53Speaker 1: we love that, all right, And I'm just double checking
- 40:56Speaker 1: to make sure there's Yeah, I think that's pretty much
- 40:59Speaker 1: covered it rolled. So we're gonna talk a little bit
- 41:03Speaker 1: about Rand and I'm not Rand paren and Matt, So
- 41:08Speaker 1: the two of them don't have much of a presence
- 41:12Speaker 1: in this book because the story is more focused on
- 41:15Speaker 1: Rand and uh Igwaine. Because in this book both of them,
- 41:22Speaker 1: basically the two of them are often compared. There there
- 41:29Speaker 1: are certain similarities between the two of them that if
- 41:32Speaker 1: you really pay attention to the understone of the undertone
- 41:35Speaker 1: of the entire story, both Rand and Igwaine come to
- 41:40Speaker 1: represent powerful leaders like Rand is the dragon reborn and
- 41:45Speaker 1: he's meant to unite all the peoples against the Dark One.
- 41:48Speaker 1: And then there's Agwayne, who is currently one of the
- 41:53Speaker 1: most powerful channelers in the White Tower. She's more powerful
- 41:59Speaker 1: than Aleida by miles, like if even though Agwaine is,
- 42:08Speaker 1: even though Agwaine is younger and currently being drug to
- 42:12Speaker 1: the point where she can barely use her power, if
- 42:15Speaker 1: she had her full access to her power, she could
- 42:19Speaker 1: she could string up Elida like it was nothing. All right.
- 42:23Speaker 1: The only person who in the White Tower who's stronger
- 42:25Speaker 1: than Agwaine would be nine Eve. All right, so let
- 42:32Speaker 1: me so let's talk about Paren real quick. But we'll
- 42:36Speaker 1: get back to Agwaine. We're gonna talk about Paren really quick.
- 42:40Speaker 1: So in the wake of the Battle of Malden, Parent
- 42:43Speaker 1: inspects his his supplies and his people, making sure everyone
- 42:48Speaker 1: is ready for the coming trap, for the coming journey.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Because now Paren, by his own tavern nature, feels that
- 42:59Speaker 1: he is being called to Rand. He feels like he's
- 43:02Speaker 1: being that the time is coming for him to return
- 43:05Speaker 1: to Rand, so he begins inspecting all of their supplies,
- 43:10Speaker 1: discussing banners with his generals, including Tam as well as
- 43:16Speaker 1: his joint forces with the Queen of Galdeen as well
- 43:19Speaker 1: as the Naionaters, and begins sending any refugees that they
- 43:24Speaker 1: have rescued from Malden to the North. They do encounter
- 43:30Speaker 1: some other issues, but more importantly, let me make sure
- 43:35Speaker 1: this is the book that this happens, and it may
- 43:38Speaker 1: not happen until the next book m HM. So Paren
- 43:58Speaker 1: realizes that part of that his uh that part of
- 44:01Speaker 1: his purpose in the in the coming battles is that
- 44:05Speaker 1: he will need to master his own abilities. So aside
- 44:09Speaker 1: from being a taverend, Paren is also a wolf brother.
- 44:12Speaker 1: This gives him the ability to communicate with wolves, as
- 44:17Speaker 1: well as gives him some wolf like abilities like mainly
- 44:21Speaker 1: heightened senses as well as some wolfish instincts. And he's
- 44:27Speaker 1: also given the added benefit of being a dream walker. So,
- 44:32Speaker 1: like Igwayne and several of the Forsaken, Parent has the
- 44:34Speaker 1: ability to enter Teleran Riot, the world, the Unseen World,
- 44:40Speaker 1: or the world of dreams, but to Parent, he only
- 44:43Speaker 1: knows it as the wolf dream and in the Wolf Dream,
- 44:46Speaker 1: he's been communicating with a with an old friend of
- 44:50Speaker 1: his who who unfortunately perished in the book. In the
- 44:54Speaker 1: first book, uh, this is the spirit of the Wolf Hopper.
- 44:59Speaker 1: For those of you you've seen the series, Hopper does
- 45:02Speaker 1: make an appearance in season two before being killed by
- 45:04Speaker 1: the White Cloaks. Pretty much the same thing happens in
- 45:07Speaker 1: the book, except instead of it happening in book two
- 45:10Speaker 1: or season two as it did in the show, it
- 45:12Speaker 1: happens in book one. So paren So paren has been
- 45:18Speaker 1: relying on Hopper to teach him how to use the
- 45:22Speaker 1: Wolf dream to his advantage, because he's already gotten a
- 45:25Speaker 1: hint that while being in the wolf dream, he's able
- 45:28Speaker 1: to do things that you can't do in the real world.
- 45:31Speaker 1: He can alter his surroundings, he can move himself instantly
- 45:34Speaker 1: from one place to another, at least while in the
- 45:37Speaker 1: wolf dream. And he knows that there is another that
- 45:42Speaker 1: there is another more powerful enemy that has a similar ability,
- 45:48Speaker 1: all right, and this is the one that and this
- 45:50Speaker 1: man they call him, they just simply call him the killer,
- 45:55Speaker 1: the hunter. This dude is. This dude enters the world
- 45:59Speaker 1: of dreams and he hunts the spirits of wolves, and
- 46:03Speaker 1: when he kills wolves in the wolf dream, they die
- 46:06Speaker 1: for real, they permanently die, like their spirits, never get reincarnated,
- 46:11Speaker 1: they cease to exist. So the thing is is that
- 46:15Speaker 1: in there so anyway, so in there in his training
- 46:23Speaker 1: with Hopper, Hopper refuses to teach Ran certain things like
- 46:31Speaker 1: how to move in the wolf dream all right, like
- 46:36Speaker 1: how or like some like certain other things that involves
- 46:38Speaker 1: Paren delving deeper or becoming too uh enmeshed into the
- 46:45Speaker 1: into the wolf dream, and this causes some slight falling
- 46:48Speaker 1: out between the two between him and the wolf spirit.
- 46:52Speaker 1: But Paren will eventually come to convince Hopper to teach
- 46:56Speaker 1: him more about how to use the wolf dream to
- 46:59Speaker 1: his advantage and continues to and continues with his training.
- 47:06Speaker 1: In the real world, Paren works with his wife and
- 47:11Speaker 1: also he has to settle certain matters concerning rumors that
- 47:18Speaker 1: have been spread about him and the first of mayin Beryline.
- 47:23Speaker 1: So in the wake of Beryline's in the wake of
- 47:26Speaker 1: Fayal's capture, Paren had been comforted by Berylaine. But the
- 47:31Speaker 1: thing is that it didn't go further than just a
- 47:33Speaker 1: simple like, oh, I'm here for you. I'm just here
- 47:36Speaker 1: to show you support in your struggles, and we're going
- 47:39Speaker 1: to help and we're going to help you find your wife.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Others in his encampment began to believe that he had
- 47:45Speaker 1: had an affair with Berline, and Paren, wanting to address
- 47:49Speaker 1: that with Fayel, tells her that he did not sleep
- 47:52Speaker 1: with her, and also, knowing the knowing something of the
- 47:58Speaker 1: ay Eels culture, tells her that if anything had happened
- 48:02Speaker 1: between her and her captors in u in Maldon with
- 48:08Speaker 1: the Aeel, he would not hold it against her because
- 48:10Speaker 1: she was of course their prisoner. Yeah, and Fayl of
- 48:18Speaker 1: course thinks nothing. That tells them that she thinks nothing
- 48:21Speaker 1: of it. And if anything, Fayl and Beryline comes to
- 48:24Speaker 1: a sort of strained agreement. They figure out a way
- 48:28Speaker 1: to convince everyone in their camp that, of course, the
- 48:34Speaker 1: whole rumor of Paren having an affair with Berylaine was
- 48:37Speaker 1: nothing more than that, just a rumor. And they do
- 48:40Speaker 1: that by pretending to be best friends in public. Well,
- 48:44Speaker 1: in reality, the two of them can't stand each other.
- 48:48Speaker 1: In fact, Fayel and Berline hate each other. Yeah, they
- 48:55Speaker 1: just hate each other. But beyond this, believe that is
- 49:05Speaker 1: it for his story. There's not we don't see much
- 49:08Speaker 1: of Parent beyond this. Parent, of course, begins to make
- 49:13Speaker 1: his way begin to gather his forces to be to
- 49:16Speaker 1: begin their journey north to return to Uh to regroup
- 49:20Speaker 1: with Rant, and before they're able to do that, they
- 49:25Speaker 1: realize that their way is blocked by a large force
- 49:29Speaker 1: of white Cloaks. And these white Cloaks are being led
- 49:34Speaker 1: by none other than Galed Demadrad. Yeah. So, now, last
- 49:40Speaker 1: time we saw ga Galad, he had challenged Uh. He
- 49:46Speaker 1: had challenged the uh Uh. He had challenged the new
- 49:50Speaker 1: leader of the White Cloaks because of his supposed treatment
- 49:55Speaker 1: of galad stepmother more Gaystragan, and Galad didn't like that,
- 50:00Speaker 1: so he challenged challenged him to a fight, and he
- 50:04Speaker 1: was the one who ended up walking away the victor.
- 50:08Speaker 1: So Galad had gathered the White Cloak's forces and began
- 50:13Speaker 1: making their way north out of the Shawn Shawn controlled area,
- 50:17Speaker 1: and he also come He also learns that Paren had
- 50:23Speaker 1: He learned that that Parent's forces were nearby and were
- 50:26Speaker 1: being led by none other than Parent. Atbara and several
- 50:29Speaker 1: of Galad's men tell him that Paren is wanted by
- 50:35Speaker 1: the Parent is wanted by several men of the White
- 50:42Speaker 1: Cloaks because of his supposed crimes. So Parent had a
- 50:45Speaker 1: parent had excuse me. Parent had apparently killed several of
- 50:50Speaker 1: the White Cloaks. Now, of course Parent admits that he
- 50:53Speaker 1: had done this, but it was done in self defense
- 50:56Speaker 1: rather than out of just sure, rather than out of malice.
- 51:03Speaker 1: And Paren has also been accused of killing one of
- 51:05Speaker 1: the White Cloaks father, who was a captain of the
- 51:08Speaker 1: White Guard of the White Cloaks, But the truth was
- 51:11Speaker 1: that his father was actually killed by the Sean Sean.
- 51:15Speaker 1: So this brings their two groups to a standstill. We
- 51:18Speaker 1: won't see much of this in this book because that
- 51:23Speaker 1: will actually be settled. That issue will be settled in
- 51:26Speaker 1: book thirteen. All right, and now we're going to go back.
- 51:36Speaker 1: We are going to talk a little bit about Matt.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Let me go ahead and find his let me get
- 51:47Speaker 1: my notes together, do do do? Future Devin cut this
- 51:54Speaker 1: port So, just like Parent, Matt doesn't have much of
- 51:59Speaker 1: a presence here in this story. We will see more
- 52:02Speaker 1: of him in book thirteen. And where the fuck is it?
- 52:17Speaker 1: I literally go and rework evil. Yeah, so Matt has
- 52:36Speaker 1: like such a small role in this that like it's
- 52:39Speaker 1: almost a footnote.
- 52:41Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 52:47Speaker 1: So since since splitting with Tuon and leaving the Shawn
- 52:53Speaker 1: Shan's control territory, Matt is now in the nation of Mirandi.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Mirandi is a small nation just south of Andor. Matt
- 53:04Speaker 1: is currently planning on leading his band of the Red
- 53:06Speaker 1: Hands to Camelin, then proceeds to the Tower of Genji
- 53:10Speaker 1: with Tom Maryland. The Tower of Genji is where they
- 53:14Speaker 1: believe that they'll be able to enter the realm of
- 53:16Speaker 1: the eel Fin in order to rescue Moraine. If you
- 53:19Speaker 1: listening in our last episode, you would have learned that
- 53:22Speaker 1: Morain Demadrid, who was the original Isidai that was Intro,
- 53:28Speaker 1: who was the first Isidai that was introduced in the
- 53:30Speaker 1: entire Wheel of Time series, and was the one who
- 53:33Speaker 1: had found Rant determined that he was the Dragon Reborn,
- 53:36Speaker 1: and had advised him and supported him for the first
- 53:40Speaker 1: five novels. And she apparently supposedly she had died in
- 53:46Speaker 1: book five. Turns out she's actually alive and she's trapped
- 53:50Speaker 1: in the world of the eel Fin. So ran so
- 53:55Speaker 1: excuse me. Matt now has an obligation to rescue her,
- 54:03Speaker 1: and as they're beginning their their way north, they come
- 54:05Speaker 1: across a village called Hindersnap or hind Sorry Hinderstap, And
- 54:13Speaker 1: before they reach before they head to Hinderstap Uh, he
- 54:17Speaker 1: learns that the isad Eye he's traveling with UH have
- 54:20Speaker 1: decided that they will split from him and return to
- 54:22Speaker 1: the White Tower on her on their own. He they
- 54:26Speaker 1: haggle over some supplies and he decides to of course
- 54:30Speaker 1: give him a fair share of supplies. But right now
- 54:34Speaker 1: supplies are very scarce because due to the dark Ones influence,
- 54:39Speaker 1: supplies are going are beginning to spoil much sooner than
- 54:43Speaker 1: normal or any kind of or becoming infested with bugs.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Matt decides to make a stop in that village of
- 54:53Speaker 1: Hinderstap for supply to haggle for more supplies. However, they
- 55:02Speaker 1: learned Matt learns of a very of a very shocking
- 55:06Speaker 1: occurrence happening in Hinderstap Uh. So Matt travels to h
- 55:12Speaker 1: Hinderstaff with several of his UH band members while and
- 55:17Speaker 1: the and of course with the Isadai. While in Hinderstap,
- 55:23Speaker 1: the town mayor, man named Barlton Assists tells them that
- 55:27Speaker 1: they are free to of course UH visit the town
- 55:32Speaker 1: agle for supplies enjoy the local haunts and other things
- 55:37Speaker 1: that are offered by the village. But they but he
- 55:40Speaker 1: insists that they leave by sunset and uh. While in Hinderstap,
- 55:49Speaker 1: Matt begins to gamble uh for it begins to get
- 55:53Speaker 1: uh gamble gold as well as other and other valley
- 56:00Speaker 1: against the against the locals in an attempt to haggle
- 56:05Speaker 1: for supplies. So instead of like gambling for money, he
- 56:11Speaker 1: only gambles for chests of food and other and other
- 56:16Speaker 1: necessary supplies. Now the mayor steps in and agrees to uh.
- 56:21Speaker 1: He's The mayor steps in and agrees to gamble with Matt,
- 56:25Speaker 1: but only if the mayor is able to throw is
- 56:29Speaker 1: allowed to throw the dice for Matt, because he catches
- 56:31Speaker 1: on quick that Matt's tavern nature makes him extremely lucky,
- 56:36Speaker 1: so Matt never loses in a game of dice. So
- 56:40Speaker 1: the mayor throws the dice for Matt, and as it
- 56:44Speaker 1: turns out, even then Matt still won. So the mayork
- 56:49Speaker 1: of course, gives Matt the supplies that he had won.
- 56:53Speaker 1: But they noticed that the sun is still is beginning
- 56:55Speaker 1: to set and tells him, all right, get out, you
- 56:59Speaker 1: guys need to go Itt And just as the sun sets,
- 57:06Speaker 1: everyone retreats indoors, leaving Matt and his friends outside, and
- 57:13Speaker 1: the Maytala leaves him with one final warning, get like,
- 57:16Speaker 1: get out of this town before the sun fully he sets.
- 57:19Speaker 1: It's annoyed because the ice that I had split off
- 57:22Speaker 1: and gone to an inn and rented room. So they may,
- 57:26Speaker 1: of course, so they may refresh themselves and have a
- 57:30Speaker 1: proper bath, so before he can go and collect the
- 57:34Speaker 1: ice ad I. However, that's when all hell breaks loose.
- 57:38Speaker 1: At this point, the village has completely descended into chaos.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Unarmed villagers begin to pour out of the out of
- 57:49Speaker 1: their houses and they begin to attack Matt and the
- 57:52Speaker 1: red arms they for and this forces them to abandon
- 57:56Speaker 1: the chest of gold they brought, as well as the
- 57:58Speaker 1: provisions they had haggled for and try to escape this mob.
- 58:02Speaker 1: And as they're trying to escape, they notice that the
- 58:04Speaker 1: villagers aren't just attacking them, but they're literally attacking everything
- 58:08Speaker 1: in sight, anything that moves they're attacking. It is total
- 58:12Speaker 1: This is just total pandemonium, all right. There's brawls in
- 58:16Speaker 1: the street. People are throwing each other out windows, all right.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Children are like running around like stabbing each other and
- 58:22Speaker 1: stabbing adults. All right. There, this is just like one
- 58:26Speaker 1: just it's like a just one chaotic mess of just
- 58:30Speaker 1: bodies fighting each other, all right. And they notice that
- 58:34Speaker 1: the villagers they're not they're just they've just gone completely mad.
- 58:39Speaker 1: They have like this extreme look of just rage, like
- 58:42Speaker 1: they just want to just kill everything in sight, and
- 58:45Speaker 1: they are killing each other and they're trying to Yeah,
- 58:49Speaker 1: So they managed to reach the ice at eye. Several
- 58:54Speaker 1: of them do get wounded, and I believe one actually
- 58:56Speaker 1: dies before they can actually get to the ice to
- 59:00Speaker 1: get healing. They rescue the ice I who because their
- 59:05Speaker 1: lives have been threatened, they are now able to use
- 59:07Speaker 1: the power to defend themselves and begin chucking fireballs at
- 59:10Speaker 1: the at the villagers. Matt convinces them to leave, and
- 59:16Speaker 1: they managed to escape. They had rescued one of the
- 59:19Speaker 1: village girls because she had gotten knocked out in the scuffle.
- 59:23Speaker 1: They take her out of the village and they didn't
- 59:26Speaker 1: get much sleep in the night. The villagers don't follow
- 59:28Speaker 1: them outside of the outside of their town, but when
- 59:31Speaker 1: they reach their camp and the sun begins to rise,
- 59:34Speaker 1: they noticed that the girl that they had taken from
- 59:36Speaker 1: the village just disappears, vanishes, and and once the sun
- 59:42Speaker 1: has fully risen, Matt and Tom return to the town
- 59:45Speaker 1: and see that everything's back to normal. Villagers are like
- 59:51Speaker 1: just going about their lives or beginning. They're starting their
- 59:53Speaker 1: day like they normally would. Hell, they see a few
- 59:55Speaker 1: of the villagers that were dead, like full on on deceased,
- 59:59Speaker 1: like one had his brains bashed in Jesus, was alive.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: And that's when they learned from the mayor that for
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: some reason, this town was cursed. And it turns out
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: this is a extreme occurrence of a bubble of evil.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: A bubble of evil.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, so the Dark One's influence had cursed this
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: town to uh cause the villagers every night when the
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: sun sets, to become completely enraged and go mad, and
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: they begin to kill each other. But in the morning
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: they returned to normal. Even if they died in the
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: middle of the night, they are resurrected in the morning
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: and it's like nothing had happened.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Weird.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: It is in this it is in this town that
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Matt learns that the villagers had not had recognized his
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: face because somebody had been circulating his picture as well
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: as parents picture in a nearby village of True Stare,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: So Matt, deciding just to take his supplies that he
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: had haggled for and just get the fuck out of there,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: makes his way to the next village of Trustair and
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: really quick, I'm gonna take a pause because there is
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: more of Gwen's story. I wasn't gonna talk about him
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: much until we get closer to talking about a Guayne.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: But Uh, Gowen had learned that Agwayne was not only
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: with the rebel Isaidaie, but there was their leader, their falls,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: their their ambulance seat all right. And he also learns
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: that she had been captured by the White Tower and
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: now is a prisoner. And the thing is Gowan realized
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: that aside from his oaths to Uh, to Camln, to
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: his sister all Right, and to his people, his real
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: allegiance lies with Igwaine because he is in love, no
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: love anyway, he decides that he's like, all right, fuck this,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I'm not doing this shit anymore. He leaves his band behind, yeah,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: and decides to head to the rebel Isidized camp mm hmm.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: There he finds Brin and tries to convince and tries
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: to convince Brent to aid him in rescuing Igwaine, but
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: he's frustrated and also shocked that while Brinn is aware
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: that that Igwaine had been captured, he's also really shocked
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: that Igwaine had apparently given orders that she's not to
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: be rescued.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Mm hm.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Because the thing is that Iwayine visits su On in
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: the World of Dreams every night to report what's going
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: on in the White Tower, and she also gives orders
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: for the rebels. So even though she's captured, she's still
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: leading the rebels from the literally from the inside of
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: the White Tower. Okay, So that'll be it for Gowan
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: for now. And so we get back to Igwaine story
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: because he the two of them, there are two stories
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: will overlap later in the book. Let's go ahead and
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: uh close out Matt's story real quick and let me
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: pull his last. Okay. So Matt reaches the village of
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Trustair and they disguise themselves before entering the village. However,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: when they uh, while they're in the village, they come
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: across a surprising figure mm hmm, all right, in this
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: figure like actually, but they don't even they don't even
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: enter the village like before they get into the village.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Their camp is approached by a couple of strangers, and
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: these strangers is actually the I said eye Varren, as
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: well as her warder Thomas or Thomas mm hmm, all right.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Varren reveals to Varren, reveals to h to Matt that
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: she had that she had come into true Stare by
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: a strange occurrence. So Varren had. Last time we saw Varn,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: she had been traveling with kat Swain and Rand in
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: the wake of the events of Malden. Uh, I'm sorry,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: not Malden far matting when Ron was captured there, and
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: this is before this was leading up to the cleansing
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: of Sighting. She eventually just leaves without She leaves from
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: the mansion that Ran had been hiding out in Tier
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: and gone on her own way there was. She didn't
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: leave much of a reason why, just a vague noaks
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: saying telling Ran to not trust anybody. Even Kats Wayne
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: was confused why she left, so Varren reveals to Uh,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: reveals to Matt how Matt's tavern power had stopped her
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: from traveling directly to Tarvalan, which is where she was heading. Instead,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: every time she would open a gateway the gateway would
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: take her to a completely random area, so she figured
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: that this was probably being done by a taverin. So
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: she decided to wait in true stare for one of
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: those tavaints to come to her and lo and behold,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: there's Matt. So she tells Matt where she was going
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: and what she can actually do she can do for him,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: and she reveals that of course she knows how to travel,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: and she agrees to take Matt to directly to Kamlin,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: completely allowing them to bypass the hundreds of miles they
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: still have to travel just to get to it. All right,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: the only her only condition is that Matt is to
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: uh take a letter. That only if Matt will agree
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: to open the letter from her ten days arriving in Camlin.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Of course, Matt says he's not going to do that,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: but she just says, just take the letter at least
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: if you don't. If you decide not to open it, fine,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: but I do hope you you really open it. And
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: she's really like kind of hinting, like like in ten
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: days open the fucking later letter, like there's important shit
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: in there.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: But this is why I don't really like Matt, because
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: he's stubborn to will fall. The thing is, it is
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: often joked in the story that the two rivers men
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: are are men who are so stubborn they can give
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: They can give a mule a lesson in stubborn in stubbornness,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: all right, But Matt is stubborn to is truly stubborn
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: to a fault, and one of the things, one of
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: the reasons why he's probably my least favorite character. Now.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: So of course everyone has their preferences, He's just not mine.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: So Matt agrees, and they come to a compromise where
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: that Matt will either open the letter in ten days
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: or burn it unopen and remain in Caitlin for thirty days.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: So the condition was that he was to even if
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: he doesn't open the letter, Matt was to stay in
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Camlin for thirty days before leading, and reluctantly he agrees,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: and this is where his story ends. In this book.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Varren does use her power to take him to Camlin,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: and we will see him again in book thirteen where
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: uh where he will begin, where he'll speak with a Lane.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: He will come to an agreement with her to allow
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: for her to gain access to her resources, mainly her
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: bell founders, so that way a Lodra can create her
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: new weapons.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: Mmmm, it's a canon O of course as a canon,
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: I just love canons.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Get that bitch a cannon and guess what I mean.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I love Elane, but I guess she's the biggest bitch
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: of them all because she gets all the cannons.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: Love canons.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Gotta love them cannons anyway. So here, so We're now
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: going to get to this story that I've been really
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: wanting to talk about. I wanted to get all these smaller,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: shorter stories out of like shorter side stories out of
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: the way before we get to the two main story
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: orries in this book. This is Elaine. So we're gonna
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: go ahead and talk about a Gwayne's story. This her
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: her role in this book. Like this, in this book,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: both she and Ran basically come into theirselves. They come
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: into their like into their full power. They both get
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: a major level up and it is gonna be like
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: this book is so satisfying, Like it's not a bit
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: like the events that happened with the two of them
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: are not on the same level as like what happened
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: with the cleansing of Sighting or when uh the event
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: with the weather Bowl, but it is still the events
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: that happened with these two characters. They are still significant, Okay,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: So so let's go. Agwaine has been reduced in the
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: White Tower. Agwayne had been reduced to the role of
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: an She had been stripped of not only her position
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: as a full fledged isidie, but also as a accepted
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: And she has been fully demoted to the rank of
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: a novice. And now and part of her imprisonment in
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: the White Tower, she's still technically allowed to move about freely,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: but she has to be. She has to remain under
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: constant supervision. Every day. She's dosed with a solution of
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: diluted fork rout so it's enough to prevent her from
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: traveling at her full strength, but it's not enough to
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: completely knock her on her ass and like reduce her
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: to just like a sedated state.
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: M hm.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: And the thing is is that Agwaine. The thing is Agwaine.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: She's she refuses to accept her role as a novice,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: all right. She knows for a fact that she is not.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: She is no longer a novice or an accepted all right.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: She is a full sister of the ay said I
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: and What's more, she is the what she believes to
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: be the rightful amberline seat. And in a way she's
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: right because for the most part she is right because
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Elida had illegally assumed the position of the of the
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: ambulance seat, and her position was the result of deposing
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: the previous Amberlin. All right, the reasons for deposing Suan
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Sanche for as Amrelin were really stretched. Okay, they used
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: a bunch of loopholes that will never hold up in
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: the court of law. But still she had enough supporters
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: to do it. But by all rights, she is illegally.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: She was illegally raised to that position, all right. So
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: the thing is, because of her defiance, Igwayne is sent
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: is pretty much sent every day to the Mistress of
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Novices to receive punishments. So every day she is beaten
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: by the Mistress of Novice. Is not like full on
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: like just like beaten by like you know, with a
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: with a with a bat or like to the point
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: she's covered in bruises. No, it's just she's just given
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: a good paddling for like like an hour every day.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: And the thing is, though Agwayne refuses to be broken,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: do you know, she refuses and anything. She's taken a
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: she's taking a page out of her ideal training, her
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: wise one training and embracing the pain. So like she
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: she sits there, takes the paddling, stands up, strains her clothes,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: She's like, all right, I'll see you in the morning,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: walks away like she's a total lady boss girl boss.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Uh iguaine is So is also thoroughly shocked by how
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: divided the white towers become. The Ajas are completely against
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: each other. They walk the towers as with their warders.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: Uh they walk there. They walk the towers with their
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: warder guards always nearby. They're always wearing their shawls, which
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: which shows their allegiances. Like is part of becoming a
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: full fledged sister is you were given a shawl with
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the color of the aja you decided to become a
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: part of. So you know, brown Najas have a brown shawl,
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Blue has a blue and so on. All right. So,
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: and the thing is that the shawl is only worn
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: during formal occasions, so like a gathering of the sitters,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: or like just in general, like if they're or if
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: they're meeting with dignitaries or things like that. It's only
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: ever worn during formal occasions. So seeing all these is
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: said eye wearing their shawls and eyeing each other like
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: a bunch of stray cats fighting over territory. It was
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: shot looking to her and also reaffirms her belief that
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: Elida has completely broken the tower and that she's unfit
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: to be the leader. Little does she know that Eleida
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: is just is just a pawn. Yeah Uhgwaine witnesses also
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: witness Elida arguing for a fourth oath of obedience to
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: be sworn to the ambulance seat. All right, and the
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: thing is. Upon hearing this argument, Agwaine finally embraces her
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: punishments to the point where like she can take then
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: she can take her punishments and doesn't matter. She's like,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I'm going to take that bitch down. In her imprisonment,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Agwayne also is allowed to visit her constituent, Leanne Sheriff.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Leanne was the other ice at eye that was placed
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: that was captured when they were trying to seal up
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: the harbor chains. So unlike Igwaine, Leanne is kept under
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: constant guard and kept in a prison cell every day
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: and night. During one of her visits, they are the
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: two of them are affected by a bubble of evil,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: which causes the walls and floors around them to turn
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: into liquid, but they both managed to sorry. They both
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: managed to escape, and len Is and Leanne has moved
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: to another room. Igwayne is taken back to her room,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: and as she's taken back to her room, she realizes
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: that parts of the White Tower are beginning to shift,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: So sections of the tower which were like like say,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: parts of the Brown Ages quarters, which are usually higher
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: up in the tower, are now suddenly towards the bottom
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: of the tower, where the novice's rooms are. In her
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: time in the tower, uh Igwaine uh also begins to
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: earn the respect of the other novices. At first, the
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: novices kind of look at her like, you ain't shit,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: so you're the false ambulance. You ain't shit. But then
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Agwaine begins to earn their respect and devotion by not
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: only showing that she's earned her right as an isidie,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: but also working with them and utilizing the new basically
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: practicing the new uh like lessons and techniques that they
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: use when when handling novices in the rebel camp. All right,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: because during her time in the rebel camp. They the
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: not the new novices that they recruited have uh. They
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: began forming a new system or families basically like this
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: system helps the NOVI helps is like a support group,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: so all the novices have some way of supporting each other.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: They don't feel soul alone, unlike in the White Tower,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: because the thing about being a novice in the White
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Tower is that you're very isolated. I mean, yeah, you're
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: surrounded by all these other girls. But the training is harsh,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: all right, and oftentimes there's not much encouragement for the
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: novices to work together. So igwain begins to show them.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Begins to show them how to work together, how to
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: stick together, and how to help each other learn to
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: master their abilities all right, and slowly, most if not all,
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: the novices begin to look to her as their leader.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Back in the rebel camp, Suan is struggling to make
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: sure that the other Isidai sitters, particularly some of the
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: sitters like Lelaine, from usurping Igwaine's power. All right. She
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: meets with Igwaine every night, and she reveals that Helena,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: who was at one point Agwainne's handmaiden, was actually a
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: channeler and somehow she was able to channel sighting, which
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: can only be done by men. And of course she
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: correct Agwayne correctly deduces that this must have she must
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: have been one of the forsaken. Yeah. She also reveals
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: to Agwayne that the Ashaman have bonded sisters. Now Agwuayna
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Agwayne believes that the the corruption on sighting has been
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: has truly been removed, but she wants confirmation and she
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: does encourage the rebels. She does encourage the rebels to
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: take up brands offer to bond a shaman. Yeah, so
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: they do get fifty. They can bond fifty brothers as
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: a as compensation for the fifty sisters that were bonded
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: by it that were taken and bonded. All right, Agwayne
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: begins receiving she used various lessons from the from the Isida.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: During one, she realizes that one sister, a woman named
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Bene Nalsad, is actually asking for her advice in a
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: roundabout way, and slowly Igwayne is beginning to also earn
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: the respect of the of the actual sisters in the
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: White Tower. Now a good number of them still treat
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: her like a novice and still refuse to acknowledge her
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: as even a full sister, less than even acknowledging the
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: fact that she was made into the ambulance seat by
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: the rebel Isidai. She's slowly earning their respect and she
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: encouraged and she begins to try to encourage the sisters
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: throughout the tower to work with each other, all right
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: and move past this division between the Ajas and uh
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: Agwayine actually meets one of the rebel spy is a
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: woman woman named Meddani, who leads her to the other
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: sisters that were hunting down the black Azure within the tower.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: This is so one of the one of the black
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Aja hunters, an Isadai named Chayene. I think that's how
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: you pronounce your name. It's spelled like s e A
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: I I n.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: E mm hmmm.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: I think it's like either like Gaelic or French. I'm
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: not sure, but I know like it's that kind of
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: word when you when you pronounce it, you're supposed to
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: pronounce it with like an s h. I think I'm
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: not entirely sure, but I'm pretty sure it's pronounced Chyine
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: or Shane. But either way, Chyene is forced to admit
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: to uh that Elda is not legally the ambulance seat,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: having been elected through the interference of the Black Asia,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: and Aguina convinces them that they need to work together
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: to reunite the Tower, and several of the sisters actually
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: do acknowledge the fact that legally, Iguaine is the true
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: ambulance seat all right, so aside from them, she's Elaine's
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: Igwaine Is slowly begins working with the individual ajas, trying
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: to impress them, trying to get them to work together,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: and she does it in different ways, like, for example,
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: with the White Aja in a discussion of logic, she
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: convinces them that it's not logical to try to control
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Ran based on his nature. And while talking to them,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: the sisters kinda they're impressed with her and offer her
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: a place in the White Aga, but she states that
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: as the ambulance seat, she represents all ages, so regardless
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: of any more, Because regardless of all the punishments and
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: being told that she's no longer the ambulin and she's
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: going to be a novice pretty much for the rest
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: of her life, uh Agwayne is uh Agwayne still holds true,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: holds strong to the fact that she is the ambulance seat,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: and she represents every Asia all right. The thing is,
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: she her defiance pisses off. Alais elated to the point
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: that she tells Agwaine that she will no longer be
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: given lessons, but she will only be given manual labor,
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: especially because she don't she will not curtsey or show
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: the proper deference to the full fledged sisters. Well mainly
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: because Agwayne sticks to the fact that she is a
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: full sister all right, and and so now she's forced
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: to basically spend most of her days cleaning cleaning the kitchens. Uh.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: I've already talked about this one scene h in the
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: last book, but it actually happened in this book. Agwaine
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: was ordered to serve dinner serve as a maid during
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: a dinner between Alida and a group of the Sitters.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: The thing is, Agwaine is shocked to see how openly
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Elda brates and insults the Sitters and even begins to
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: question Igwaine. And she even begins to question Agwaine and
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: like try to make a GWayne out to be a
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: fool for pretending to be the ambulance seat. But Agwaine
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: turns things around on her and brates Elda for all
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: her mistakes and reveals her plan and Agwayinne had actually
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: found out that Alda hadn't revealed to the other sitters
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: that she's planning on forcing all the sisters to swear
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: a fourth oath, which forces them into which swears obedience
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: to the ambulance Seat. So Agwaine spills the beans to
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: these sitters about the fourth Oath and criticizes her about
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: the abduction of U of the Dragon Reborn because it's
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: not very well known to the other. To the other,
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: I said, I that Alida had not only orchestrated the
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: capture of Rand, but she also kept it quiet of
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: the disaster of Doumai's wells, which you remember, that's where Rand. Uh.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: That's where the isid I were cornered by the Shidow
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: and tried to take Rand, but then ran escaped and
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: ended up capturing the isid Eye and forcing them into
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: swearing obedience to him. So uh. After a GWayne like
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: insults Aleida and even call straight up calls her a
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: dark friend, Eleida begins to brutally beat Agwaine with the
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: one Power, which is a violation of Tower law, but
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Agwayne takes it, and then after that she's thrown in
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: a cell being declared by Elida as a dark friend.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: And we're gonna do a little bit of a There's
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: another little side story I didn't mention earlier, but this
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: is because it's tied more into the Rebels and the
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: an Agwayne story. But as it turns out, the Black
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: Aja is everywhere, including in both the Rebel and in
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: the White Tower groups, and one particular Isidee, a sister
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: of the Blue Asia named Shariam. For those of you
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: have been following along, Shariam is currently it Wuaine's keeper
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: of the Chronicles, so she's basically her second in command.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: And Shariam was also the former mistress of novices in
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: the White Tower before the schism. Yeah, and as it
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: turns out, Sharium is a dark Friend of course, but
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: we won't actually we won't. Actually she won't actually be
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: reveal until much later. The thing is, she learned she
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: learns that in the pre in the previous book, one
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: of the rebel Isidie, decides to abandon the rebels and
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: returns to the White Tower. And when she returns to
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: the White Tower, she reveals to Alida the secrets of traveling,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: the advanced healing weaves, as well as other secrets that
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Igwaine had uh discovered, and she had also revealed the
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: plot by Igwaine to seal the Harbor chains. So that's
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: why Igwaine had been captured. Now that the rebels know,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: Now that the rebels know that traveling is no longer
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: exclusive to them, they need to figure out uh, they
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: need to figure out how to how to counter it,
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: or they need to uh they need to speed up
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: their plans with the siege of the White Tower.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Uh. Su On alerts Gareth Bryan and is trying and
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: is in the middle of working with him to try
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: to like do damage control and figure out what to
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: do next. She's approached by one of the older novices.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: So when Agwayne had become had become the Ambulance Seat,
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: she had opened the Book of Novices to allow older
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: individuals to become novices as the White Tower, and one
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: particular novice is an older woman named Sharina Milloy. Now,
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: the thing about Sharina is that she's actually from a
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: region that's not far from the Two Rivers, and she's
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: actually a very powerful channeler. She's actually she's even stronger
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: than I Neive and niniveas a third tier channeler, which
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: means she's like the third strongest channeler with Sharena being
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: a which makes Sharena second tier, means she's the second
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: strongest female channeler out there, with channelers like Olivia Landfeir
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: and Samarage being the strongest female channelers out there. And
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: there's no there's nobody stronger than those three, damn. Sharena
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: tells sue On that Lilaane had allowed the information about
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: their about the betrayal and the revelation of traveling to
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Alida she had done Lelayne had done this on purpose
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: to promote her own goals because now Lilaane, in Iguaine's absence,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: wants to make herself as the ambulance see all right.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: And the reason why Sharina tells sue On this is
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: because she fears that older Novices may be put out
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: of the tower if another Amberlin takes h takes control.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: Because since Igwayine was the one one who opened the
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Book of Novices to all to all ages all right,
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: she fears that future ambulance may decide to just close
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: it and make it to where only younger women can join.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: Mm hmm, all right, and excuse me, squeeze me, squeeze me,
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: squeeze me, going back, going back. So the reason why
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: I bring up the we're taking a little side step
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: into the rebel camp is because, of course, because of Shariam,
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Sharam is confronted by one of the Forsaken, and this particular,
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: this particular Forsaken is none other than Massana. So Massana
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: is one of the last female Forsaken. She is a
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: channeler who is even stronger than Grendel and Mogedian. And
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: the thing about Massana is that she had a rep
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: mutation back in the age of Legends of being a teacher,
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: a reputation that she herself hated. But the thing is
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: she lives up to it because in her time, any
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: territories she controlled, she would force children to attend special
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: schools or re education camps and she would teach them,
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: basically work to condition them into becoming shot Dark friends.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: And as it turns out, Masana is currently hiding in
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: the White Tower and she is the one behind all
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: of the schism. She's the one that's been manipulating Elida.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: She's the one that's been manipulating even Igwayne and Masana
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: confronts her and just confront sheriam into skies and orders
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: her to steal the tarangriol that the rebels possess that
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: allow the rebels to enter the dream world. And after
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: this we go back to Igwaine. Agwaine is now being
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: kept in a cell and she is surprisingly be being
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: kept She's surprised to find that several of the sisters
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: that she had met, particularly the sisters who are hunting
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: the Black Asia. They continue to keep her apprized of
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: what's going on, mainly by She's mainly kept informed by Cheyenne.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Chayne reveals that Alida is going to be will be
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: facing a trial faith for beating Agwaine with the power,
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: but she's really not going to get much of a punishment.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: She tells her that rooms are still randomly being switched,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: food is spoiling unexpectedly and much more quickly, and even
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: servants are beginning to die because of these bubbles of evil.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Agwayne urges Chine to pass along a message that the
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: Dark One is active and the Tower must work in unity.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: She she compels, she encourages her to plead. She pleads
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: with her make sure that all the ice that I
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: know that we need to work together because the last
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: battle is coming. And she also continues to to warn
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: everyone that there that the Sean Shan are about to
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: attack the White Tower, because she had actually had a
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: dream about it, So she doesn't have so some I said,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: I do get foretellings, and being a dream walker her horror, horror.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: Her foretellings come in the form of dreams, of prophetic dreams,
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: so she did have a dream. This occurred in the
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: last book that the imagery and the dream Uh can
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: be interpreted as the Sean Shan. So like the imagery,
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: like symboloicy, she like ravens. She saw ravens which represent
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: the shan Chan. She saw a large pillar or a
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: I believe it was like a candle or a pillar.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: It pure white, and when the ravens fly over it,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: it causes this pillar to shiver and shake. And she
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: interprets this message as the shan Chan will attack the
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: White Tower, and while the White Tower will survive it,
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: it will shock them to the cour it will rock
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: them to their core. Uh Gowan is even as becoming
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: frustrated that the rebels refuse to rescue Igwayne, but they
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: all tell them the same thing she refused. She herself
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: has refused any help. All right, all right, So back
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: going back to Agwaine, Agwayne continues to meet with the
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: with the rebels in her dreams, mainly sue on to
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: give updates and report what's going on in the tower.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: After she wakes in the morning, she's immediately taken by
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: a pair of Red Sisters, and she's immediately to resume
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: her punishments with the new mistress of novices, a Red
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: sister named Katerine. So the thing is is that the
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: previous mistress that had originally been giving Agwayne's punishments was
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: actually another Red Sister named Sylviana. The thing it is Sylviana,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: even though she of course did her job, did her
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: job and punished a GWayne regularly, Sylvianna had begun to
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: come to respect a GWayne and actually see things from
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: her point of view. But the thing is is that
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: Sylviana was dismissed when she demanded that Agwainne be released.
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: And the problem is is that Sylviana was threatened by
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: a Leida with stilling and execution. M Igwayne orders the
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: Brown sister Shirene to return to the hall to stop
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: Sylviana's punishment, which is funny because even when she orders this,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: the Brown Sister immediately goes to comply, which irritates the
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: Red Sisters, who she has yet to make find any
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: common ground with. Agwayne is returned to her room, where
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: she finds a surprise visitor, Varren o. Upon seeing Varen,
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: Varren immediately makes a false statement to Agwayne, which Agwayne
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: immediately realizes that it violates the Oath of Truth and
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: when she realizes that, she's like, you're one of them,
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: aren't you? And Varren, and Varren confirms it. As it
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: turns out, Varren, who was a sister of the Brown
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: Aja who had traveled with Ran in book two, who
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: had traveled with the party very at various times throughout
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: the series up to this point, as it turns out,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: she is a member of the Black Ajam. Varren reveals
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: that when she was when she was coerced into becoming
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: a member of the Black Aja, they had used the
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: oath rod to remove the three oaths and she was
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: forced to join the to swear the oaths to the
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Dark One. So she does have her own oaths of
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: her own three oaths, but these oaths buying only the
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Dark only the Black Asa to the Dark One, all right. Now,
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: Varren reveals that she not She had never originally wanted
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: to be a part of the Black asja she was taken.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: She was taken as a novice and forced to swear
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: allegiance to the Dark One or under threat of being killed.
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: She reluctantly did this. And while she did her part
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: as she was expected as a member of the Black Asia,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: she had always been looking for a way to undermine
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: her oaths and figure out a way and figure a
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: way to get out of it. And one way was
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: to use the oath Rod again to break her uh
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: the oaths binding her to the Dark One, and of
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: course reswear the three oaths. But unfortunately she when she
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: came back to the tower, this is what she had
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: attempted to do, but the oath Rod had been kept
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: under lock and key and she was unable to get
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: to it. So she was able to figure out a loophole. Now,
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: this loophole allows her to completely circumvent her her binding
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: oaths to the Dark One, but only it's only used
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: as a last resort, all right, And this way the
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: way that she's able to defy the Dark One completely
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: is by basically taking her life. So she reveals to
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: Agwayne that she had just that she had just taken
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: a poison and that she is going to die in
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: a few moments. And in her last moments she is
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: now able to completely defy the Dark One and reveal
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: the better the dark the truths about the Black Asia.
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: So Varren thinks Igwaine for her work on the tower
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: and reveals to Agwayne the flaws and the flaws and
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: schemes of the Dark One and the Forsaken. She also
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: explains that excuse me, I'm sorry that she had written.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: So she also explains to Agwayne that she had written
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: a pair of books. One is encoded and the other
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: one is the cipher containing and in these books they
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: contain the identity of hundreds of Black AJA members. So
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: she had basically spent years determining the identities of other
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: members of the Black Aja. So the thing is the
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Block AJA. I've explained this before. They have a system
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: where no two Ajas know more than two others the
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: names of two others. So each individual Block AJA only
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: knows the identity of two other men of two other members,
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: and it's a fail safe system. So in case one,
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: if one is discovered, they wouldn't be able to completely
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: bring down their network. But Varren had spent years studying
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: the Black Aja and their history and managed to identify
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: hundreds of their members, and she gives these She gives
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: these books to Agwaine, and and as she gives to
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: gives them to her, she begins to uh. She's slowly
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: beginning to pass for the poison, beginning to do its
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: job and kill and is slowly killing her. But just
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: before Varren dies, she reveals to Agwayne that Massana is
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: hiding in the tower, so after her death, she manages
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: to get She manages to hide Varren's body with the
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: help of several other Isidye, and they take her. They
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: hide her body, and Agwaine begins to study the book
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: that she was given, uncovering many many names, but surprisingly
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: not Elida. So Alida is not a member of the
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: dart of the Black Aja. She's just an idiot, which
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: is somehow worse that sounds about right, And while she's
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: studying the book, she all in the book, it reveals
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: that Alviarin Elatest, former keeper of the Chronicles, is the
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: leader of the of the Black Aja, she's the supreme
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: leader in Teleranriode. She she meets with Suan again and
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: informs them that both uh that two other members of
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: the rebels, a woman named Maria and Scheriam, are black Aja,
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: and she orders Swan that not to take any action
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: against them, but that they are only to be observed.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: But in the middle of a dream, she is suddenly
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: pulled out of it because somebody in the real world
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: is trying to wake her, and when she wakes up,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: she finds one of the other novices, a young girl
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: named Nicola, is frantically trying to wake her. Nicola tells
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: her that shadow Spawn are attacking the White Tower, but
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: Igwayne senses large amount of channeling going on throughout the tower,
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: more than usual, and she realizes that this is the
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: Shawn Shawn. The Shawn Shan's raid has begun. So several
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: things happened leading up to the raid. I'm not really
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: going to talk too much about Tuon or for Tuona,
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: as she calls herself before she takes the throne. Before
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: she elevates herself to the status of Empress, Tuon observes
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: the standard morning period for the previous Empress and in
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: that timeframe, she not only learns of the trilic forces
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: attacking the trillic forces that attacked her banner General, but
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: she also learns that Rand had sued for peace and
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: had asked for a meeting with her. So, and the
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: thing is is that Tuon is the shaan Shan nobility
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: are so full of themselves, actually the empress, so the
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: Empress elevates themselves so high that like they can't even
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: they can't even smell their own shit coming out of
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: their ass, all right. And the thing is, she believes
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: that as Empress she would not be able to deal
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: with Ran directly because she would technically be higher than him,
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: which is not true, like of a higher status than him.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: And think about Sean Shan is that they never address
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: anyone who's on a lower status than they are, unless
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: of course, they are considered favored or like someone who's
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: close to them or something like that. It's it's a
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: weird it's a very weird hierarchy. And like, she decides
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: to hold off her coronation until she deals with Ran.
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: So she does meet with Ran, and she immediately noticed
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Tuan immediately noticed that Ran it seems very dark and unhinged,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: and Ran presses her to agree to a cease fire
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: and form an allegiance for the purpose of fighting in
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: the last battle. But like she feels his tavern nature
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: pushing her to agree to his terms, but she can't
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: help but shake this strange feeling of darkness surrounding him,
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: so she refuses, and because she refused, Rand warns her
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: that he will have no choice but to destroy her
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: and her people, and he walks away, which right now
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: Ran has access to. He still has in his possession
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: the access key for the Chroden call so Sequel. Handedly,
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: he does have the power to destroy her and the
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: Sean Sean, but after the meeting, she immediately declares that
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: she is now the Empress, and as part of his
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: becoming the Empress, she takes on the new name of
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: Fortuona and originally Tuon Knew or for two on a
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: Knew that they cannot take They cannot attack the White
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: Tower while Ran is still out and about because since
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: uh she believes that Rand is allied with the White Tower,
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: they didn't want to attack because they may antagonize him.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: But now knowing that he is their enemy, she decides
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: to say fuck it and she organizes a raid on
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: the White Tower, and the way they accomplished this is
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: because since the White Tower is further north into deep
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: into the Westlands, outside of the Shawn Shawn's controlled territory.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: She organizes a raiding party of like a like a
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: large group of flyers called rakin and these rack and
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: toll Racken, which are a larger version of the Racken UH.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: These racking hundreds of racing will carry UH hundreds of
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: her of her forces mainly consisting of foot soldiers and
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: demane and soldam. They are going to fly to the
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: White Tower completely bypassing enemy territory and attack from the sky,
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: which is what they do. And now we come back
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: to UH. We come back to the present. When Agwayne
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: is pulled out of the dream world, Suwon wakes up
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: and she believes that she's in danger. She and Gareth
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: Brynn realize that the Shaun Shan are attacking when they look.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: When they look outside the camp, they can see the
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: tower in the distance and they can see flashing light
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: and what looks to be burning looks to be the
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: flickering light of flame. So the White Tower is burning.
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: Ah Agwayne from her own experience with the Shan Shan
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: figures out their strategy and immediately gathers the novices around
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: her to fight, and she quickly teaches them how to
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: form circles. Uh. The thing about circles is, she tells.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: The thing about linking with other channelers is that this
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: will prevent the Demane from shielding the individual novices for capture,
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: because that's the tactic that the Shaun Shawn used. They
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: use the demane to quickly shield another channeler and then
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: once that channeler has been subdued, Soldam quickly puts a
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: collar on her right. So by having the novices form
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: links with each other, this keeps the individual demane from
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: being able to shield them because since there's more power
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: being flowed channeled through them, they won't be able to
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: break the link with just a simple shield, so they
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: would have to attack them directly. But since they're linked
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: together and sharing their power, they're more than just an
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: individuals Demane can take. And the problem with the Adam
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: is the Adam prevents the Demane from using links of
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: their own. They don't know how to use links and
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: they can't form them because the Adam prevents it. So
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: this game so I. GWayne immediately realizes this is UH,
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: this is their advantage and uses it to and uses
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: it to defend the novices. She also gathers UH. She
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: also gathers novices strong enough to form traveling traveling weaves
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: and UH. She also finds several sisters. They open a portal.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: They open a gateway that leads directly into the storeroom
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: where the objects of power are being kept. And she
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: goes into the storeroom, and she finds the one object
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: that she needs. It is a fluted want. It's a
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: white It's a white rod about sixteen inches long. Yeah,
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: It's called Vora's sa Angriol. Vora's Sangriol is a female
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: saangriol of incredible power. Its power, as far as I've
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: been able to determine, is almost on the same level
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: as Kalandor, which means anybody who wields it, any Isidai
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: who wields it will have enough power to whoop anybody's
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: ass if they like. So she takes this and begins
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: to She takes voras sangreal and begins to channel through it.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: Now at this point, Agwayne is still being affected by
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: the fork rout in her system, But once she begins
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: channeling power from Vorasangreal, the intake of power is enough
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: to completely cleanse her body of the fork rout, allowing
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: her to access her full strength back in the rebel
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: Back in the rebel camp, Suon recruits both Gowan and
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: Gareth Brnn to help her rescue Agwayne. Knowing that the
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: Sean Shawn are attacking, they can no longer abide by
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: Agwayne's orders. Before they can leave, the brand demands that
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: Suon takes her, that Suon make him her warder, and
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: they also make a promise to get married later. But
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: that's gonna happen. That's the other that's another matter altogether,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: because apparently, as it's revealed, Suan and Gareth Brann are
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: in a relationship.
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: Uh so back in the White Tower, the isid I
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: have been completely caught off guard, and the Shan Shan
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: are tollering as many as many of these women as possible.
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: During uh during one of the scattered uh what do
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: they call it? Like? There's like a specific term for
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: like uh, like for when like a fight like uh
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: an engagement it's another word. Uh, I'll go with that.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: During one of the during one uh conflict between the
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: the Demani and the Isidai. Uh. One of the isid I,
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: who is the leader of the Green Aja, gets called,
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: gets shielded by the demane and collared, but just as
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: the caller is put on her and the Souldam is
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: standing above her like I'm gonna name you some I'm
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: gonna give you this new name. You're gonna be a
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: You're gonna be nice and good pet for me, right,
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: Because that's the Souldam. Sicken me, okay. Let me tell
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: you something, the soul Dam they sicken me okay because
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: they treat the demane like animals, all right. As soon
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: as they're collared, they give them new names. They begin
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: treating them like they're just a pet, all right, like dogs,
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: all right. It is so demeaning and dehumanizing that it
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: makes me physically sick. Like Book two, Oof, it just
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: made me sick to my stomach seeing how they treated
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: it GWayne, and how they treated the other demane and
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: even throughout the other uh the other the later books,
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: whenever the Soldam it shows how the Souldam acts with
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: their demane, it just makes me sick, all right. And
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: and the way that demane are so thoroughly conditioned they
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: not only accept it, but they like they love it.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: They don't know any better. And hell, the demane that
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: are captured here in the Westlands becomes so thoroughly brainwashed
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: that they cannot function on a on a normal level anymore,
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: even if they're freed from the Adam. Like Agwayne got
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: lucky when she was when she was freed. But anyway,
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: back to the conflict. The Sean Sean call her of
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: the leader of the Green Aja. She's actually called the
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: Uh She's she's actually called like the uh banner like
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: I think they call her like the the banner of
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: General or something of the Green Aja. Anyway, she's like big.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: She has like a special title. Uh. This Isidi is
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: a woman named Ada Lorna Bestine And just as she's collared,
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: Agwayne arrives and using a weave of fire of like
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: spirit and air, she unlocks the collar and the collar
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: just pops off her neck and falls to the ground.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: And the thing is, every time this happens, the Souldan
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: are so just behooved, because the thing is is that
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: no one has been smart enough to use the power
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: to unlock an a dam right, Yeah, usually like back
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: in Shondhar the Sean. It's just so like it's such
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: a foreign concept for them that somebody would actually be
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: smart enough to use the power against an Adam to
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: unlock it, that every time it happens, the Souldam are
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: always caught off guard, like like they fail their they
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: fail their wisdom throws every time instant fail whenever it happens.
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: So they're just standing there staring at the Adam like
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: what just happened? And then uh Adelanta looks up, sensing
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: Igwayne nearby, because Agwayne is now channeling an obscene amount
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: of power with the songrail on her hand, and she
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: walks up. Let me tell you something Agwaye is wearing.
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: Let me tell you what she's wearing. She's wearing just
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: a white dress though novices all wear a simple white dress, right,
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: But somehow Agwayne had managed to find a like a
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: shawl like in the general, like someone had brought her
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: the original stripe stole of the ambulance seat they like
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: when some of the iceid eyes she had rescued, they'd
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: add they had kept the seven stripes stole of the
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: ambulance seat because when Aleida came to power, and uh
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: completely uh disavowed the blue aja. She had the blue
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: stripe of the stole removed. So now there's only six
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: stripes on Aleeda's stole, but on the original stoll there's
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: seven stripes for the step for the seven aja, so
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: they had gotten her one. She's wearing it. She walks
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: in right with somehow in the middle of the tower,
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: wind billowing through her dress. Right, she's holding a white
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: a white fluted rod, and she is glowing with power. Right.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: Let me tell you, people, I was throbbing. Okay, I
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: had a massive boner in this scene. Okay, I'm gay,
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: but this this gave me a huge boner because this
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: was epic, because this was a confrontation that I have
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: been waiting for for thirteen books. Like I'm sorry, Haun,
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: the Shawn Sean were her deal Hergwayne's ordeal with the
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: Shawn Sean happened in book two, So like two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: I've been waiting for ten books, people, Yeah, okay, ten
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: books for this confrontation. Agwayne walks in when billowing through
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: her like just causing her dress to build behind her
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: like a freaking superhero. She is glowing with power and
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: she the Sean Shan's ass. All right, she doesn't hold
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: back either. Okay, soon as she sees it. As soon
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: as she sees a soldam, she immediately uses weaves to
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: unlock the Adam from the Demane and fully trained demane
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: when the when the as soon as the collar comes
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: off them, they become so frightened that they just kneel
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: down and they don't do anything. They're like, oh no,
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: oh no, the collar's off, like they become completely useless,
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: completely docile. But the soul Dam, they're not so lucky.
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: She as soon as she unlocks the Adam from the Demane,
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: she immediately roasts the soldam alive. She sets their asses
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: on fire. She cast fireball left and right, She rolls
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: natural twenties on every attack. Okay, she's just utterly demanded uh,
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: demolishing every Sean Shan soldier she finds. And the thing
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: is that since the Demani are attacking, the Shan Shan
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: attacked from the sky. They entered from the roof of
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: the White Tower. But they but they're racking, flying all
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: around the White Tower and Demane are throwing fireballs at it.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: Blowing holes through into the tower, and Igwayne finds herself
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: in front of one of them, and the Demani on
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: the rock and begin to attack her. But Agwayne just
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: like looks at them, and she begins firing just a
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: barrage of fireballs out of the out from her position
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: in the White Tower. So she's shooting down every racking
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: that she can find, all right. She's killing She's killing
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: Sean Shan left and right. They come up to her
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: in the tower, she roasts them alive and captures the Demane.
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: If they fly at her from outside, she she just
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: shoots them down right from outside the tower, like Sue
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: On in her group. As they're sneaking into Targlan to
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: rescue her, they can see it. They can see what's
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: going on, just like flashes of light, massive fireballs being
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: fired into the sky like rack and are just dropping
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: left and right like flies, all right, like swatted flies.
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: This was an epic scene and I was just I
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: was living. This was such a girl boss moment, all right,
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: and every and and the thing is that Igwayne is
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: proving that she is, without a doubt the Ambulin seat
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: left and right, all right. So her allies in the
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: lower floors of the tower. They managed to get away
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: from the Seawan Shan's attack, regroup and now and they're
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: slowly pushing their way back up in the tower. They're
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: killing Sean Shan left and right. And then you got
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: Agwayne closer to the top floor of the tower and
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: she's killing Sean Sean left and right. So some of
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: the Sean Sean are still coming in through the top
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: of the tower, but they quickly realize that this raid
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: is over, so they gather what what chance like novices
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: and Isidie that they had captured and collared and immediately
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: like tried taking off UH. The ra can pick up
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: their UH, pick up their their prisoners. Suldam and Demane
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: retreat UH. Some of the soldiers are left behind and
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: they're immediately killed are taken captive. But so like the
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: Shanchon that are kind of like in the middle between
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: Agwayne and the Isidie that are pushing up from the
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: bottom floor there, they're fucked. Those guys are fucked. They're
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: trying to make their way up to the top floor,
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: but they're running into Agwayn who immediately kills them and
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: rescues their captives and help even takes the Demane captive too, damn.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: So the ones that were like higher up in the
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: tower they managed to retreat, but towards the end of it,
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: Igwayne had channeled so much power that she's left completely exhausted.
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: Luckily the fighting is over. The shan Chan run like
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: flee from the battle. Unfortunately, they did manage to capture about,
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: like I say, about fifty channelers from the White Tower.
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: And just as she's passing out, Gowan and sue On
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: and Gareth Brynn reach her her and they take her
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: from the tower. Uh let me get let me see
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: you here. So they they fought their way into They
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: had actually snuck their way into the White Tower. Gareth
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: Brynn and Gowan disguised themselves as White Tower guards and
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: they make their way up to the up the tower.
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: While so on, she doesn't really do much to disguise herself.
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: I mean, being an isid eye, no one would look
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: twice at her. And since she was stilled and got
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: her power back, she doesn't have the ageless face anymore. Yeah,
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: because when the what a channeler is still an isid
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: eye is stilled, the oh the power binding her to
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: the three Oaths vanish because the u because the oath
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: rod Cause not only causes you to, like any oath
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: sworn on it, are bound by the power, it also
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: shortens your lifespan m m And as a result of that,
- 2:01:01Speaker 1: it causes your face to become ageless, so you won't
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: get wrinkles, you won't like look like you're aging naturally
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: or anything. You just have like a smooth, ageless face.
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: And the thing is Suan, having lost that ageless face,
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: looks like a normal person, but she walks like an
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: isid eye, So everyone who saw her would just like,
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: wouldn't look twice at her. They're like, oh, she's probably
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: like a novice or a very young isid eye. So
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: they managed to make their way up the tower and
- 2:01:29Speaker 1: they find a GWayne. They find a GWayne. Agwayne had
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: completely exhausted herself. She had not only been using the
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: power of the Avorasangrial, but she had also had been
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: linked to a small group of novices, so she had
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: an obscene amount of power that she was throwing at
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: the Sean Sean. So since she was very exhausted, she
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: didn't really offer much resistance when when they found her
- 2:02:01Speaker 1: and took her. When Suan sees at Agwayne has the
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: uh has Voris Sangreal. She takes it and uses its
- 2:02:10Speaker 1: power to open a gateway back to the rebel camp
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: and Igwaye isn't able to resist and they take her
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: and so in the aftermen in the aftermath of the battle,
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: it is revealed that among the Channelers that were captured,
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: Elida was one of them.
- 2:02:28Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so Eleida had been captured and collared by the
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: Shan Shan and they're now taking her back to Abu
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: Dhar and hell, the Sean the Suldan that had collared
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: her gave her a new name, Sufa, which I'm just like.
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: It still made me sick, but at the same time,
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: I'm like, eh, eh, we're we're fucked because the Sean
- 2:02:54Speaker 1: Shan now have access to traveling in other advanced weaves.
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: But Sergey, right, you bitch. Uh. So, when Agwayne awakens
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: back in the rebel camp, she is angry with both
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: Suon and Gowen for her rescue, but still still she
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: reassumes her role as the ambulance seat in the Rebel
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: Tower in the rebel camp, and using traveling, she travels
- 2:03:24Speaker 1: back to the White Tower and takes the oath Rod
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: from the storeroom and going back to the rebel camp,
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: she gathers the full hall of Sitters in the rebel camp,
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: and before all these witnesses she swears the three oaths
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: in front of them. She will not tell a lie.
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: She will not use the power to make weapons for
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: men to kill other men, and she will not use
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: the power as a weapon in less an extreme self
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: defense or the defense of her sisters as well, or
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: in the fight against the Dark One and his dark forces.
- 2:04:01Speaker 1: All right, and in the meeting of the rebel hall,
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: she then states that she is not only not a
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: dark friend, but she also will have everyone in the
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: in the in this hall to retake the oaths, particularly
- 2:04:20Speaker 1: the Oaths of Truth. But before anybody can really react,
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: Igwayne turns on Shariam and the sitter Moria and shields
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: them and subdues them both. While the other Sitters are
- 2:04:35Speaker 1: like shocked. They immediately the retake the oaths to prove
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: that they're not Dark friends. And then she reveals to
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: the others that Shariam and Maria are black Asa and
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: telling and with the sitters, and with the Sitters present,
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: she reveals to them that she knows the identities of
- 2:04:56Speaker 1: over fifty members of the Black Asia, like the total
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: amount was somewhere near seventy, and that these women are
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: all hiding in the rebel rebel camp and having their
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: sitter hall sealed using using the power, she secretly plans
- 2:05:17Speaker 1: with them to purge the Black Aja from the rebel camp.
- 2:05:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and.
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: They do. They do succeed and create Uh, they do
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: succeed in their plans. They and after and after careful organization,
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: they managed to capture fifty members of the Black Azia,
- 2:05:43Speaker 1: but unfortunately twenty did manage to escape because as soon
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: as a bunch of these women were being rounded up,
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: the other members of the Black Azure realized, oh shit,
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: oh shit, we've been had and they ran, oh see
- 2:06:00Speaker 1: here what After the Black Azure were captured, they were
- 2:06:04Speaker 1: all really they realized that all uh, all but one
- 2:06:09Speaker 1: of the dream Tarangriela had been taken and had been
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: stolen by Shariam and Uh in the wake of capturing
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: all these sisters of the Black Aza Sherium as well
- 2:06:23Speaker 1: as her other Black Sisters are executed. I should probably
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: reword that because like they're Black Aja, and typically they
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: are referred to as Black Sisters.
- 2:06:38Speaker 2: But you know, yeah, I know what you're talking about.
- 2:06:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, So anyway, let's let me these evil were
- 2:06:44Speaker 3: taken out.
- 2:06:46Speaker 1: Yeah. So Shariam, along with the other sisters of the
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: Black Azua that were captured, were all executed, and in
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: the wake of the purge from their camp, Gareth Brynn
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: begins to prepare for an all out assault on the
- 2:07:03Speaker 1: on Tarva Lawn because now that the tower is currently
- 2:07:08Speaker 1: reeling from the assault of the Shan Shan, this is
- 2:07:10Speaker 1: the perfect opportunity for them to strike. But before they
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: can do anything, a delegation of Sitters arrives from Tarvallon
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: to speak with Iguayne. As it turns out, the Sitters
- 2:07:21Speaker 1: in the the remaining sitters in the White Tower come
- 2:07:24Speaker 1: together and realizing that their ambulance seat had been taken,
- 2:07:29Speaker 1: they are now left without a leader, and after reviewing
- 2:07:33Speaker 1: and reflecting on everything that had been done since Elida's
- 2:07:38Speaker 1: in since Elida's reign, they realized that this isn't a
- 2:07:42Speaker 1: matter of choosing an ambulance seat that they're all gonna
- 2:07:47Speaker 1: want that's gonna please every like, every single one of them.
- 2:07:50Speaker 1: This is a matter of choosing an ambulance seat that
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: they need, and as it turns out, there is already
- 2:07:57Speaker 1: an Amberland seat and she's just right across the river,
- 2:08:03Speaker 1: so they so they all agreed, So in a surprisingly
- 2:08:08Speaker 1: unanimous decision, the sitters of the White Tower agree that
- 2:08:13Speaker 1: agreed to name Igwaine as the next legal Amberlind seat.
- 2:08:18Speaker 1: So Igwaine is approached by their delegation and they reveal
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: that they want her, that she has been chosen to
- 2:08:24Speaker 1: be the next Amberland Seat, and they also reveal that
- 2:08:29Speaker 1: not only had been had Elate has been captured, but
- 2:08:31Speaker 1: should Igwaine agree to uh become the real, the true
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: Amberlind Seat, the Blue Aja would be reinstated as a
- 2:08:41Speaker 1: as an actual Aja of the Tower, and all the
- 2:08:44Speaker 1: rebels would be welcomed back into the tower as well
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: as and they also as a bonus, they agree to
- 2:08:52Speaker 1: accept Gareth's Brynd Gareth Brynn's army into the city. So
- 2:08:56Speaker 1: because Gareth Brynn had gathered such a massive force to
- 2:09:00Speaker 1: assault the White Tower, so yeah, all the better. Agwayne
- 2:09:06Speaker 1: agrees and goes into the city and goes back into
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: the White Tower where she is formally raised as the
- 2:09:13Speaker 1: Ambulance Seat again, but this time in a proper, in
- 2:09:17Speaker 1: proper and do proper legalities, all right, she observes the process,
- 2:09:26Speaker 1: the rituals. I don't know if I talked about this.
- 2:09:29Speaker 1: I don't remember if I talked about how it's done
- 2:09:32Speaker 1: in the books, especially when she was originally raised back
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: in book seven. But part of the ascension ritual is
- 2:09:43Speaker 1: she presents herself before the full haul of this tower,
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: and as a way to prove that she is who
- 2:09:51Speaker 1: she says says she is and that she is a woman,
- 2:09:55Speaker 1: they all strip down to their waists, full titties on display.
- 2:10:00Speaker 1: And it's kind of a shrewd ritual. But like one
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: of the sitters goes around and like stares at you
- 2:10:08Speaker 1: and each woman assembled there just to confirm that, yeah,
- 2:10:12Speaker 1: those tits are real. Moves on. Oh, I mean like not,
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: I'm not like, I don't want to sound like a
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: misogynist or anything like a pig is just like that's
- 2:10:25Speaker 1: how it was done in the book. I'm just I'm
- 2:10:28Speaker 1: just like recapping the events. Okay, part of the ascension
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: ceremony to becoming the ambulance seat is you stripped down
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: to your waist full titties on display, and then and
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: then another woman with her full titties on display, comes
- 2:10:42Speaker 1: up at you and stares at you. Like the process is.
- 2:10:47Speaker 1: It's better explained in the book how it's done, like
- 2:10:51Speaker 1: it's it was from they most of the ice that
- 2:10:54Speaker 1: I admit that this is a tradition from a from
- 2:10:58Speaker 1: a different time, yeah, civilized time. But they kept it
- 2:11:03Speaker 1: because you know, part of it has to do with
- 2:11:07Speaker 1: unity and womanhood. All right, they're all sisters, and they
- 2:11:14Speaker 1: they need to make sure that only sisters observe this ritual.
- 2:11:19Speaker 1: This right. But anyway, Igwayne is formally raised as the Amlin,
- 2:11:25Speaker 1: and upon becoming Ammelin, she summons the Mistress of Novices,
- 2:11:31Speaker 1: the former Mistress of Novices, Sylviana, who is also a
- 2:11:35Speaker 1: sister of the Red Aja, and names her as her keeper,
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: as her new keeper of the chronicles. So this was
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: kind of controversial in the with the rebel, I said,
- 2:11:44Speaker 1: I because raising a Red sister to be her keeper
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: like kind of it kind of like pissed off a
- 2:11:52Speaker 1: few people because they believe that the Red Aja were
- 2:11:55Speaker 1: responsible for this, for all this mess, right because of Aleida.
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: Why should a Red sister be named as keeper? But
- 2:12:04Speaker 1: this was done not only for political reasons, but also
- 2:12:07Speaker 1: because it was the right thing to do, all right.
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: This well, actually this was done completely for political reasons. Also,
- 2:12:15Speaker 1: she had grown. She had come to realize that of
- 2:12:17Speaker 1: everyone that she that of pretty much all the people
- 2:12:20Speaker 1: she could trust, Sylviana was one of the people that
- 2:12:22Speaker 1: she could trust the most, all right. And naming Sylviana
- 2:12:25Speaker 1: as a keeper would also give her a foothold and
- 2:12:28Speaker 1: would also give her like kudos from the Red Aja,
- 2:12:33Speaker 1: because in her time working in the in her time
- 2:12:36Speaker 1: in the White Tower, she had managed to form connections
- 2:12:39Speaker 1: with all seven Ajas except for the Red with all
- 2:12:44Speaker 1: of the other six ajas except for the Red h
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: all right, So by naming Sylviana as her keeper, she
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: has now formed a familiar a. She had established a
- 2:12:59Speaker 1: friendly relationship with the Red Aja. And she also did
- 2:13:02Speaker 1: this because she declared that, uh, this schism, this division
- 2:13:08Speaker 1: between the Ajas needs to end, all right, there can
- 2:13:13Speaker 1: There's not gonna be any more of sisters walking around
- 2:13:15Speaker 1: the tower eyeing each other like a bunch of feral
- 2:13:18Speaker 1: cats about to attack each other over territory, all right,
- 2:13:22Speaker 1: they need to work together. And then she also, uh,
- 2:13:29Speaker 1: she also calls the rebels into the into the city.
- 2:13:34Speaker 1: She she has both the rebels and the and the
- 2:13:37Speaker 1: White Tower isid eye before someone before her. She chastises
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: both of them, tells them both like, tells them both like.
- 2:13:46Speaker 1: As part of being the the ambulance seat, she can't
- 2:13:50Speaker 1: really show favorites, so she does have to. She does
- 2:13:54Speaker 1: have to order penance to all the Rebel sisters, but
- 2:14:00Speaker 1: but it's basically just a slap on the wrist. But
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: the White Tower sisters don't walk away without proper chastising either,
- 2:14:08Speaker 1: and so she welcomes the She welcomes both sides back
- 2:14:12Speaker 1: into the tower, and the White Tower has now been reforged.
- 2:14:17Speaker 1: It's now one in whole. She begins to she enacts
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: her plans to capture the Black the remaining sisters of
- 2:14:25Speaker 1: the Black Asia in the White that are still in
- 2:14:27Speaker 1: the White Tower. And she does this by like she
- 2:14:33Speaker 1: identifies them from the book Varren Gabor, and she has
- 2:14:39Speaker 1: them secretly pulled aside given fork route course into telling
- 2:14:43Speaker 1: a lie. And then once that is done, they are
- 2:14:46Speaker 1: immediately captured and then later executed. So and just like
- 2:14:50Speaker 1: what happened in the in the Rebel camp, they do
- 2:14:54Speaker 1: manage to capture and execute a large number of the
- 2:14:57Speaker 1: Black Asia, but unfortunately rounding bring up all these sisters
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: gets around and many of them do escape. After purging
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: the Black Tower, about sixty of them had to escape
- 2:15:15Speaker 1: and in the end of Towards the end of Agwayne's story,
- 2:15:20Speaker 1: Agwayine is now making herself at home in the in
- 2:15:23Speaker 1: the empty Ambulance study, she has decided to have the
- 2:15:27Speaker 1: freed Demane trained as I said I since now that
- 2:15:31Speaker 1: she has completely opened the book, the Book of Novices
- 2:15:36Speaker 1: to all Ages, she decided to include the Demane and
- 2:15:39Speaker 1: have them rehabilitated. Aside from that, she also begins reviewing
- 2:15:47Speaker 1: the losses to the Sean Schahan. She realizes that Masana
- 2:15:54Speaker 1: must have been able to get around the rules of
- 2:15:55Speaker 1: the oath Rod and which is why she's been able
- 2:15:58Speaker 1: to hide so effectively in the White Tower. As she's
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: look as she's organizing her her thoughts and her new study,
- 2:16:09Speaker 1: she notices outside the window. This At this point she
- 2:16:13Speaker 1: had gotten used to the very gloomy landscape that has
- 2:16:18Speaker 1: now become the world, the dark clouds that are now
- 2:16:22Speaker 1: ever present, that have been present for months. She notices
- 2:16:26Speaker 1: in the distance over the Dragon Mount, which is about
- 2:16:31Speaker 1: which is not that far away from the from the
- 2:16:34Speaker 1: White Tower, she notices a perfect ring appears just above
- 2:16:42Speaker 1: the mountain, completely clear of clouds, and sunlight is shining through,
- 2:16:49Speaker 1: and she realizes this is the first time that she
- 2:16:52Speaker 1: has seen sunlight in ages. And she also realizes that
- 2:17:01Speaker 1: something significant has just happened and orders Sylviana to mark
- 2:17:05Speaker 1: this date and we'll come back to that because the
- 2:17:09Speaker 1: reason for that break in the clouds has something to
- 2:17:13Speaker 1: do with Rand. So we're almost done. We're almost done, guys.
- 2:17:17Speaker 1: We are now in the final stretch. I've kept you waiting,
- 2:17:22Speaker 1: I've dingled little. It's a bait, yeah it it's here
- 2:17:26Speaker 1: and there about Rand. Now it's time to close our
- 2:17:29Speaker 1: story with Rand. In Arid Doman. Rand orders that Samarage
- 2:17:37Speaker 1: not not be hurt. He's captured her and but orders
- 2:17:43Speaker 1: that she's not to be harmed or threatened. The thing is.
- 2:17:49Speaker 1: At this point, Rand is still dealing with the effects
- 2:17:51Speaker 1: of the madness. Though Sighting has been cleansed, the damage
- 2:17:57Speaker 1: has already been done. He's now a near constant battle
- 2:18:03Speaker 1: with his with his alter ego lose then the man
- 2:18:07Speaker 1: is causing him to not only recall snips and snips
- 2:18:11Speaker 1: and pieces of Louis Theron's memories, but also, Louise Terren's
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: personality has manifested itself within his mind, and this has
- 2:18:22Speaker 1: caused him to become slightly unhinged because Lui Tharron is
- 2:18:26Speaker 1: constantly trying to take over he does. Louse Terren's personality
- 2:18:31Speaker 1: often asserts himself in Rand's mind, trying to get him
- 2:18:35Speaker 1: to do things that he would normally wouldn't do, and
- 2:18:39Speaker 1: also causes him to become confused in certain instances because
- 2:18:43Speaker 1: he recalls some parts of Louis Terren's memories, and also
- 2:18:48Speaker 1: because of the events that have happened, especially since the
- 2:18:52Speaker 1: Battle of Dumai, as wells from his imprisonment from his
- 2:18:55Speaker 1: capture of the Isid Eye. He's becoming increasingly paranoid, all right,
- 2:19:03Speaker 1: and his madness, instead of getting better or just not progressing,
- 2:19:08Speaker 1: is for some reason getting worse. Rand had successfully captured
- 2:19:16Speaker 1: raed Domen and is now trying to gather the Merchant
- 2:19:18Speaker 1: Council in order to either choose a new king, have
- 2:19:22Speaker 1: them choose a new king, or figure out some way
- 2:19:25Speaker 1: to uh bring peace to the region because it had
- 2:19:29Speaker 1: been locked in civil war for months, if not years now.
- 2:19:35Speaker 1: He had already had the Ieel come in and seize
- 2:19:38Speaker 1: control of Arab Domin and bring peace. Right and right now,
- 2:19:46Speaker 1: his only order to the Aeel is to keep the peace,
- 2:19:48Speaker 1: to keep the Domani from fighting amongst each other. Ran
- 2:19:53Speaker 1: having already established a bargain with the seafolk, he tells
- 2:19:58Speaker 1: us he orders the sea Folt that now any man
- 2:20:04Speaker 1: that that begins to show the ability to channel among
- 2:20:08Speaker 1: the sea folks, they are no longer to be executed. Instead,
- 2:20:12Speaker 1: they are to be given. They are to be sent
- 2:20:14Speaker 1: to the Black Tower to be trained. H Rand is
- 2:20:19Speaker 1: also beginning to become more and more distrustful of his advisor,
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: mainly katswain Uh, but for the most part he leaves
- 2:20:31Speaker 1: her to her own business. Katzwayne had been put in
- 2:20:34Speaker 1: charge of questioning Samarage, and the thing is is that
- 2:20:39Speaker 1: Samarage is a very hard cookie to crack because she's
- 2:20:43Speaker 1: considered the most blood bloodthirsty of all the forsaken. She
- 2:20:48Speaker 1: is a sadistic psychopath. Those are the best words to
- 2:20:51Speaker 1: describe her, all right. She enjoys inflicting pain on others,
- 2:20:56Speaker 1: and she enjoys finding new ways to inflict pain on others.
- 2:21:00Speaker 1: So now kat Swain needs to figure out a way
- 2:21:04Speaker 1: to break Samarage to get more information out of her.
- 2:21:08Speaker 1: She Semarage is kept under constant surveillance. She's shielded twenty
- 2:21:12Speaker 1: four to seven. And the thing is kat Swayne tried
- 2:21:15Speaker 1: to convince Ran to allow her to put an adam
- 2:21:18Speaker 1: that they have in their possession onto Samarage so that
- 2:21:22Speaker 1: way it'll they'll have a better hold over her because
- 2:21:26Speaker 1: the adam is more effective and less costly in terms
- 2:21:29Speaker 1: of keeping a channeler under control. But Ran refuses and
- 2:21:33Speaker 1: orders her not to even think about using an adam.
- 2:21:37Speaker 1: All right. Hell Rand at the moment currently keeps both
- 2:21:40Speaker 1: the keeps the adam and the domination band, which is
- 2:21:45Speaker 1: a male which is the male equivalent of an adam.
- 2:21:49Speaker 1: He keeps those two those items locked away. They had
- 2:21:53Speaker 1: captured these items from Semarage when she herself was captured.
- 2:22:01Speaker 1: Ninive has been uh. It is also a part of
- 2:22:05Speaker 1: his group. Uh. She's current. She in her free time
- 2:22:09Speaker 1: has been She has been practicing for her tests to
- 2:22:11Speaker 1: the Shawl, which involves using one hundred different weaves in
- 2:22:15Speaker 1: a hundred different scenarios. It's very extensive. We won't see
- 2:22:19Speaker 1: that process until the next book, when Ninive is tested
- 2:22:23Speaker 1: for the Shawl. Like I said, Rand had had ordered
- 2:22:29Speaker 1: the Iel to capture all the surviving members of the
- 2:22:32Speaker 1: Merchant's band and bring them to their capital city of
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: vander Evan, both to protect them from the forsaken and
- 2:22:39Speaker 1: make sure that they can choose a new king that
- 2:22:46Speaker 1: the I've already talked about how Rand approached uh rodel
- 2:22:51Speaker 1: Terold and convinced him to defend the Borderlands until Rand
- 2:22:56Speaker 1: is able to get them get the Borderlanders back forces
- 2:23:00Speaker 1: back to the Borderlands to protect against the invading Trols.
- 2:23:12Speaker 1: Uh Rand also has to deal with the ever increasing
- 2:23:15Speaker 1: bubbles of evil. One in particular, turns the Saldian Guard
- 2:23:19Speaker 1: into a mound of black magma, which which is almost
- 2:23:26Speaker 1: impossible to extinguish. It's so hot that it that it
- 2:23:30Speaker 1: almost burns down the mansion Rand had taken shelter in.
- 2:23:36Speaker 1: Avianda is now traveling with Rand as well. She helps
- 2:23:40Speaker 1: put out the fire, but for some reason, Rand seems
- 2:23:42Speaker 1: to be ignoring her. He's keeping her distance from his
- 2:23:45Speaker 1: distance from her even though they share a relationship with
- 2:23:48Speaker 1: each other, and Avianda is beginning beginning to become fearful,
- 2:23:53Speaker 1: not so much as fearful, but concerned about his His
- 2:23:57Speaker 1: ever deteriorating uh sanity, and Avianda also has to deal
- 2:24:05Speaker 1: with the fact that the wise ones continue to give
- 2:24:07Speaker 1: her increasingly useless tasks to do, so much to the
- 2:24:11Speaker 1: point that she finally goes off on them and demands
- 2:24:14Speaker 1: to know what she has done to deserve such a punishment,
- 2:24:19Speaker 1: And to her surprise, the wise ones laugh and rejoice,
- 2:24:26Speaker 1: and they actually celebrate her and tell her, all right,
- 2:24:29Speaker 1: you finally did it. He brew some balls, all right,
- 2:24:33Speaker 1: And she's very confused and asks them what are they
- 2:24:36Speaker 1: talking about? And the wise ones revealed to her that
- 2:24:39Speaker 1: this was her final test. All right. They had deliberately
- 2:24:44Speaker 1: given her these useless tasks because a wise one, a
- 2:24:48Speaker 1: fully fledged wise one, would know her place and also
- 2:24:53Speaker 1: know that she is not someone that she's not someone
- 2:24:57Speaker 1: to be treated as a lesser, but as an equal yea.
- 2:25:00Speaker 1: And by standing up to the others, she had proved
- 2:25:03Speaker 1: that she is ready to be seen as an equal.
- 2:25:06Speaker 1: Oh my god, is that my aunt? Oh yeah, I
- 2:25:12Speaker 1: think it's my aunt. Damn it. She always shows up
- 2:25:15Speaker 1: when our house is at its messius, Like after this,
- 2:25:18Speaker 1: I'm supposed to like I'm gonna be washed. I was
- 2:25:21Speaker 1: gonna go downstairs and wash dishes, and now she's gonna
- 2:25:23Speaker 1: show up and start bitching. God damn it. What's she doing?
- 2:25:34Speaker 2: Oh?
- 2:25:35Speaker 1: I think she's looking for my cousin because he just left.
- 2:25:40Speaker 1: I think he was supposed to go pick up his
- 2:25:41Speaker 1: daughter or something. I don't know. Anyway, I'm just gonna
- 2:25:44Speaker 1: ignore her for now, unless she like bugs me anyway,
- 2:25:51Speaker 1: Future Devin edit that part out.
- 2:25:53Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:25:54Speaker 1: So back to Aviandau. They tell Avianda that since she
- 2:25:58Speaker 1: has finally since she has passed final tests, her next
- 2:26:01Speaker 1: step is to return to Ruidian, which is a city
- 2:26:06Speaker 1: which is an abandoned city in the ay Eel wastelands.
- 2:26:12Speaker 1: In the city, there is a series of torontongreol called
- 2:26:17Speaker 1: glass pillars. These glass pillars or archways allow an individual
- 2:26:24Speaker 1: to experience the past when they walk through them. This
- 2:26:28Speaker 1: turangreol is used by the a Eel to not only
- 2:26:31Speaker 1: determine not only to select new clan leaders, but it
- 2:26:35Speaker 1: also is used as a test for wise ones. So
- 2:26:38Speaker 1: when an apprentice has reached the point where they're ready
- 2:26:41Speaker 1: to be where they've completed their training and ready to
- 2:26:43Speaker 1: become a full fledged wise one, they send these girls
- 2:26:47Speaker 1: to the archways to walk through them. They experience is
- 2:26:50Speaker 1: pretty much the same thing. They see images of their
- 2:26:54Speaker 1: family's history. So, okay, she left. So they see basically
- 2:27:05Speaker 1: the memories of their ancestors, their parents, their forbearers, all
- 2:27:09Speaker 1: the way back to the Age of Legends, right. And
- 2:27:12Speaker 1: the thing is is that not everyone can, not every
- 2:27:16Speaker 1: Aeel can stand seeing these memories, because the thing is
- 2:27:20Speaker 1: is that the Ieel don't know the full history of them,
- 2:27:24Speaker 1: their full history, or where their how their culture, like,
- 2:27:27Speaker 1: where their culture came from. Because three thousand years ago,
- 2:27:32Speaker 1: in the Age of Legends, the Ieel were not these
- 2:27:35Speaker 1: badass desert warriors. They were actually a race. They were
- 2:27:41Speaker 1: a group of people that had sworn themselves to a
- 2:27:44Speaker 1: philosophy of nonviolence. So they were the three thousand years ago,
- 2:27:48Speaker 1: they were the complete Their culture was the complete opposite
- 2:27:51Speaker 1: of what they are now. And when they learned, when
- 2:27:55Speaker 1: they go through the Tarangrial and see their path, their
- 2:27:59Speaker 1: their entire people's history, in most cases they can't stand
- 2:28:05Speaker 1: it because many of them have these ideas of glory
- 2:28:07Speaker 1: in battle. But then when they realize that, oh, we
- 2:28:10Speaker 1: came from pacifists, our culture originated from a group of pacifists,
- 2:28:15Speaker 1: it's like it's really like it's such a cultural shock
- 2:28:18Speaker 1: and it's just so mind boggling that oftentimes they don't
- 2:28:21Speaker 1: survive the process. But Avianda is given leave to return
- 2:28:27Speaker 1: to the Threefold Land and go and take her and
- 2:28:31Speaker 1: complete her final trial. We won't see the results of
- 2:28:35Speaker 1: the trial until the next books, so she's going to
- 2:28:40Speaker 1: leave from here. We won't see her much again until
- 2:28:43Speaker 1: the next books. But going back to Rand and his party,
- 2:28:47Speaker 1: Katswain continues to study Samourage. The Wise Ones decide to
- 2:28:52Speaker 1: come come in, particularly Sirillia, the decrepit old hag. She is,
- 2:28:57Speaker 1: I mean, Cirillia is bad ass, but she could get
- 2:29:00Speaker 1: kat swayin tips on being in a decrepit old bat
- 2:29:04Speaker 1: damn uh. So after studying like while observing the Wise
- 2:29:10Speaker 1: Ones interacting with Samarage, kats Wwayne realizes that when the
- 2:29:14Speaker 1: wise Ones don't really uh treat the Forsaken as anything special,
- 2:29:21Speaker 1: they're just kind of looking at her, like, so this
- 2:29:24Speaker 1: is the shadow souled huh yeah, Like they're looking her
- 2:29:28Speaker 1: up and down like I thought she'd be taller.
- 2:29:36Speaker 2: How was it? I didn't giving you add to.
- 2:29:41Speaker 4: That's fine, God, you guys made me hungry. I saw
- 2:29:56Speaker 4: that food m all right.
- 2:30:03Speaker 1: So anyway, so while Katsoen is watching the Wise Ones
- 2:30:06Speaker 1: observe observe Samarage and like question her, she notices that
- 2:30:12Speaker 1: Semarage gets annoyed. She actually gets a reaction out of
- 2:30:16Speaker 1: They actually get a reaction out of Samarage because before
- 2:30:19Speaker 1: the only thing that she Samarage would say when question
- 2:30:21Speaker 1: is like she would list off different ways that she's
- 2:30:24Speaker 1: going to torture and kill everyone around her. All right,
- 2:30:27Speaker 1: But then the wise Ones come in look at her
- 2:30:29Speaker 1: and just be like, so you're a shadow. So huh
- 2:30:31Speaker 1: I should be taller, oh right, which is saying something
- 2:30:35Speaker 1: because Semarage is very tall. She's she's very tall for
- 2:30:39Speaker 1: a woman, like over six feet tall.
- 2:30:50Speaker 2: Yes, but this is.
- 2:30:53Speaker 1: Oh my god, I love you. We inter up this
- 2:30:58Speaker 1: program to bring you factory.
- 2:31:04Speaker 2: So anyway, an edit part that edit all that out? Yes, no,
- 2:31:13Speaker 2: give it here? Is there anything else? Because we need
- 2:31:16Speaker 2: to finish.
- 2:31:16Speaker 3: We're trying to finish.
- 2:31:17Speaker 2: Oh, thank you, I love you.
- 2:31:20Speaker 1: We're done.
- 2:31:22Speaker 2: I love you. I'm not trying to paper.
- 2:31:25Speaker 1: We're almost done. We really are. Like I'm trying to
- 2:31:30Speaker 1: like get through the brand story because there's a lot,
- 2:31:33Speaker 1: there's already a lot in this book, we've already been
- 2:31:35Speaker 1: droning on for like almost three hours now, so okay, okay,
- 2:31:39Speaker 1: So the Wise Ones actually get a reaction out of
- 2:31:43Speaker 1: Samarage just by treating her like she's nothing special, so
- 2:31:47Speaker 1: like while everyone else the only reaction they get out
- 2:31:49Speaker 1: of Samarage is like like threats of torture and just
- 2:31:53Speaker 1: pure violence when the wise when she does that to
- 2:31:55Speaker 1: the Wise Ones, the Wise Ones kind of shrug it
- 2:31:57Speaker 1: off and like, eh, I've heard and this actually they
- 2:32:04Speaker 1: kats Wayne notices that Semarage gets annoyed, like she actually
- 2:32:06Speaker 1: gets like a like a different reaction out of her.
- 2:32:09Speaker 1: And aside from Semarage, kats Wwayne consults with Cirellia on
- 2:32:18Speaker 1: what they need to do about Ran because they both
- 2:32:21Speaker 1: note that Rand is becoming increasingly unhinged yeah and very
- 2:32:30Speaker 1: very harsh person, and they both agree that in order
- 2:32:34Speaker 1: in order for him to succeed in making it through
- 2:32:37Speaker 1: the last battle is that he needs to be taught
- 2:32:40Speaker 1: how to embrace his emotions. So he needs to stop
- 2:32:42Speaker 1: burying them deep and learn how to embrace them. Ran
- 2:32:46Speaker 1: has been having strange dreams and for some reason, he
- 2:32:49Speaker 1: keeps getting pulled into the dreams of Morgan, who he
- 2:32:54Speaker 1: finally realizes who he had only seen once before back
- 2:32:58Speaker 1: in Shadar loagth Uh when he was fighting some Samiel
- 2:33:02Speaker 1: Morden had stepped in and saved Rand from Mashadar the
- 2:33:06Speaker 1: mist entity, but he didn't know who he was. But
- 2:33:09Speaker 1: in this dream he realizes that Mordon is actually a
- 2:33:14Speaker 1: Shamel reborn oh resurrected as Shameo. Mordan reveals that that
- 2:33:22Speaker 1: the Dark One can recall the souls of the dead
- 2:33:27Speaker 1: and bring and bring him back to life mainly be
- 2:33:32Speaker 1: Forsakenince the Forsaken are the Dark Ones chosen, they can
- 2:33:38Speaker 1: be resurrected, but only unless, of course, they're killed by bailfire.
- 2:33:48Speaker 1: And aside from that, uh Rand's uh Rand's girlfriend min
- 2:33:57Speaker 1: Ah she fuck, I'm sorry, I'm losing my train of
- 2:34:02Speaker 1: thought here. Aside from this strange dream, Rn learns from
- 2:34:10Speaker 1: min who had been studying the notes of a researcher
- 2:34:13Speaker 1: from came from Kyrine about the nature of the seals
- 2:34:20Speaker 1: in the Dark Ones prison. So Rn had met a
- 2:34:23Speaker 1: researcher at one of the schools he opened, and Kyrine
- 2:34:27Speaker 1: and this researcher had some very interesting insight into the
- 2:34:31Speaker 1: nature of the Dark Ones prison and the seals keeping
- 2:34:35Speaker 1: him trapped there. And Ran believed that this man was
- 2:34:40Speaker 1: onto something concerning what to do to properly seal up
- 2:34:43Speaker 1: the Dark One once again. But before they could learn
- 2:34:46Speaker 1: the truth, that man was assassinated by dark friends. So
- 2:34:52Speaker 1: since then Min has been studying his books, his notes, everything,
- 2:34:56Speaker 1: trying to figure out what he may have figured out,
- 2:34:59Speaker 1: because before he died, he'd he had alerted Rand that
- 2:35:03Speaker 1: he may have figured out uh, the secret to sealing
- 2:35:07Speaker 1: the Dark One away for good. So after studying his
- 2:35:11Speaker 1: notes for months, she reveals that he Uh. She reveals
- 2:35:16Speaker 1: to Rand that Herod Fell, the name of the researcher,
- 2:35:19Speaker 1: had determined that the seals must be destroyed before they
- 2:35:23Speaker 1: can completely seal away the Boar once again. So basically,
- 2:35:30Speaker 1: the seals are like a broken are like broken pillars now,
- 2:35:34Speaker 1: and in order to rebuild the foundation, to rebuild the
- 2:35:39Speaker 1: broken Uh, to completely seal away the Boer, they need
- 2:35:43Speaker 1: to clear the rubble, so break the seals and then
- 2:35:46Speaker 1: find and then from there they'll be able to seal
- 2:35:49Speaker 1: the Boar permanently. All right, Rand does learn that the
- 2:35:55Speaker 1: Shawn Shawan agreed to meet with him but uh before
- 2:36:00Speaker 1: they meet, the Ael had also learned that the shadow
- 2:36:04Speaker 1: Wise Ones had been taken as demane by the shan Shan,
- 2:36:08Speaker 1: and though they will abide by the perspective peace that
- 2:36:12Speaker 1: Rand negotiates from the shan Shan, the Aeel promise that
- 2:36:20Speaker 1: it is highly likely that after the last battle, the
- 2:36:23Speaker 1: Aeel will go to war with the shan Shan in
- 2:36:27Speaker 1: order to Yes, because even though the Shidow had proven
- 2:36:31Speaker 1: themselves to be dishonorable, allowing Wise Ones to be taken
- 2:36:35Speaker 1: as demane would go against everything they believe in.
- 2:36:39Speaker 3: Yes exactly.
- 2:36:41Speaker 1: So, going back to kats Wayne for a bit, Katzwayne,
- 2:36:45Speaker 1: after watching after observing an interrogation with Samarage, she realizes
- 2:36:54Speaker 1: that Semarage is fueled by the fear that others have
- 2:36:58Speaker 1: for the forsaken, and after a particular after some more questioning,
- 2:37:04Speaker 1: kats Wayne decides to test the theory, so she goes
- 2:37:07Speaker 1: up to Kat's So Kat's Wayite walks up to the
- 2:37:10Speaker 1: Semarage and like bitch, slaps her and then grabs her
- 2:37:16Speaker 1: and starts spanking her like she bends so so kats
- 2:37:20Speaker 1: Wayne grabs Camarage, bends her over her knee and starts
- 2:37:23Speaker 1: banking the shit out of her right, and she does
- 2:37:27Speaker 1: this in front of the other Isyesida that are that
- 2:37:29Speaker 1: were originally questioning her. And then she stops and she says, hey,
- 2:37:32Speaker 1: bring everyone else in here, bring more people in here.
- 2:37:34Speaker 1: I want them to see this, and she starts beating
- 2:37:37Speaker 1: her ass again, right, and this gets the most, This
- 2:37:44Speaker 1: gets an even bigger reaction out of her out of
- 2:37:47Speaker 1: Semarage and at the like at first Semarage is just
- 2:37:51Speaker 1: like like yelling insults and threats. But after a while
- 2:37:55Speaker 1: she begins to uh, she begins to cry and be
- 2:37:59Speaker 1: like and like she begins to cry and like begged
- 2:38:03Speaker 1: for them for her to stop, because now this is
- 2:38:06Speaker 1: being done in front of like half a dozen people
- 2:38:09Speaker 1: and they're all watching as kats Wwayn thoroughly humiliate one
- 2:38:13Speaker 1: of the forsaken Damn. So like kats Wwayn now realizes
- 2:38:17Speaker 1: that their best, their best way to deal with Samarash,
- 2:38:22Speaker 1: to get information out of her, is to put her
- 2:38:25Speaker 1: in a position where she's utterly powerless. Well, I mean,
- 2:38:32Speaker 1: she was already powerless before, but she the thing is
- 2:38:35Speaker 1: is that she still had power over everyone else because
- 2:38:37Speaker 1: of that fear they had her but now here here
- 2:38:40Speaker 1: kats Wwayne is is just completely breaking that barrier of
- 2:38:43Speaker 1: fear by just humiliating the forsaken in front of them.
- 2:38:49Speaker 1: Soonery of it all. Yeah, So they begin to make
- 2:38:57Speaker 1: uh some steps in getting uh some information out of her,
- 2:39:01Speaker 1: but still she still has a long way of breaking
- 2:39:04Speaker 1: the forsaken. And it's around this time that Rand does
- 2:39:09Speaker 1: go to meet with Tuon. But the thing is that
- 2:39:17Speaker 1: the meeting doesn't go as planned. Tuon refuses to any
- 2:39:20Speaker 1: kind of peace treaties with Rand, and she even demands
- 2:39:24Speaker 1: that Ran bend the need to her because the Sea
- 2:39:30Speaker 1: and Sean have their own prophecies that the dragon reborn
- 2:39:33Speaker 1: will kneel to the Empress and like basically swear his
- 2:39:38Speaker 1: allegiance to her. But I'll tell you this now, prophecies
- 2:39:46Speaker 1: are never as what you think they are. Your interpretation
- 2:39:49Speaker 1: of the prophecy will not occur as you think, so
- 2:39:53Speaker 1: not to spoil it, but it technically will come true,
- 2:39:56Speaker 1: but not in the way you expect it. Oh interesting anyway,
- 2:40:05Speaker 1: After failing to convince the shan Chan to submit to
- 2:40:09Speaker 1: a peace agreement, he goes back to his base of
- 2:40:12Speaker 1: operations and begins to plan for his not only begins
- 2:40:18Speaker 1: to figure out what he's going to have to do
- 2:40:22Speaker 1: about the shan Shan, but also about ar Doman because
- 2:40:25Speaker 1: they're still trying to secure the city. Hear the region
- 2:40:29Speaker 1: get everything back in order, but it's still just it's
- 2:40:31Speaker 1: just it's just pure chaos. And the war and the
- 2:40:35Speaker 1: civil war had left them very low on supplies because
- 2:40:39Speaker 1: left the people low on supplies because the soldiers were
- 2:40:43Speaker 1: taking it all and farmers were being caught in the middle,
- 2:40:46Speaker 1: so there's no crops being harvested. So these people are
- 2:40:49Speaker 1: in desperate, are in like a dire situation yea. But
- 2:40:54Speaker 1: before Iran can even do anything about that, Samarage strikes
- 2:41:01Speaker 1: so in while she in her UH. While she's in
- 2:41:04Speaker 1: her cell, the the embodiment of the dark One, a
- 2:41:11Speaker 1: particularly nasty mirrordrawl called should Shaida Haran Uh appears before
- 2:41:16Speaker 1: her Semarage and releases her uh. So, as it turns out,
- 2:41:21Speaker 1: in Katz Wayne's entourage I'm sorry and Rand's entourage of
- 2:41:26Speaker 1: Isidi that are sworn to him, one of them happens
- 2:41:29Speaker 1: to be a black Aja, of course, and Shouldar Haran
- 2:41:34Speaker 1: ordered her to kill the Isidai guarding Samarage as well.
- 2:41:38Speaker 1: As any other guards nearby. And the thing is is
- 2:41:41Speaker 1: that the reason why this uh black As sister had
- 2:41:46Speaker 1: been following Rand so willingly is because Varren had placed
- 2:41:51Speaker 1: a compulsion on her too to obey Rand, and uh
- 2:41:58Speaker 1: Sho Shouda Haran had given orders to Samarage to remove
- 2:42:02Speaker 1: the compulsion, as well as to have her aid Semarage
- 2:42:07Speaker 1: in capturing Rand. So when so when so after so?
- 2:42:16Speaker 1: When Ran returns after meeting with both Tuon and also
- 2:42:21Speaker 1: moving Iterraled and his fifty thousand Demani troops to the borderlands,
- 2:42:27Speaker 1: he returns to get more information. He returns back to
- 2:42:33Speaker 1: his base of operations and while he's in his room
- 2:42:37Speaker 1: with men, his back, his back was turned. There was
- 2:42:40Speaker 1: a servant in the room as well, and his back
- 2:42:42Speaker 1: had been turned to her. And before he realized what
- 2:42:47Speaker 1: was happening, Semarage, who was disguised as the maid sneaks
- 2:42:54Speaker 1: up on him and places a domination band on his neck.
- 2:43:00Speaker 1: Let me tell you something about the domination band. The
- 2:43:03Speaker 1: domination band is the male equivalent of an adam. Just
- 2:43:08Speaker 1: like an adam, it completely places it places a channeler
- 2:43:13Speaker 1: under your control. Now, only now, the thing about the
- 2:43:16Speaker 1: domination band is it is an older design. Adams next
- 2:43:21Speaker 1: to it are crude in comparison because, for one thing,
- 2:43:25Speaker 1: adams are made are considerably poorly made, while the original
- 2:43:32Speaker 1: domination bands were made by channelers of the age of Legends.
- 2:43:38Speaker 1: So unlike an Adam, the domination ban uses a form
- 2:43:45Speaker 1: of compulsion to control you to control a male channeler,
- 2:43:48Speaker 1: it only works on male channelers and only female channelers
- 2:43:51Speaker 1: can control can use it. The problem is is that
- 2:43:55Speaker 1: in order to fully control the male chandeler being collared
- 2:43:59Speaker 1: by a domination ban, you need two sold on to
- 2:44:04Speaker 1: wear the bracelets that control you. So unlike a regular adam,
- 2:44:09Speaker 1: which he only needs one soldam to wear the bracelet
- 2:44:12Speaker 1: to control the channeler, the domination ban has two. That
- 2:44:17Speaker 1: has it has two bracelets that need to be worn
- 2:44:19Speaker 1: individually by separate channelers. Now, of course, one of the
- 2:44:25Speaker 1: female channelers will lead, will have full control, but the
- 2:44:28Speaker 1: other one acts as a buffer to help to reaffirm
- 2:44:32Speaker 1: the control over the male channeler. Uh. While a regular
- 2:44:37Speaker 1: a dam allows the collared channeler to have some freedom
- 2:44:42Speaker 1: of movement and some UH like sense of self control
- 2:44:49Speaker 1: aside from the fact of being like collared and being
- 2:44:53Speaker 1: able to inflict any kind of pain or punishment on
- 2:44:56Speaker 1: the channeler. The domination band completely controls you. So while
- 2:45:02Speaker 1: so while you may have your own conscious thoughts, anything
- 2:45:06Speaker 1: that the person wearing the bracelet compels you to think
- 2:45:10Speaker 1: like wants you to do, you do it. So it's
- 2:45:13Speaker 1: like puppeting you. And it also completely controls your allows
- 2:45:20Speaker 1: them to completely control your ability to channel. So Semarage
- 2:45:25Speaker 1: flips the domination band onto Rand and when it does,
- 2:45:29Speaker 1: it completely causes him to It completely immobilizes him. He
- 2:45:32Speaker 1: can't move, He has no control over his body, and
- 2:45:35Speaker 1: Min tries to intervene, but Semarage restrains her and after
- 2:45:41Speaker 1: collaring him Uh the other Uh the other black as sister.
- 2:45:49Speaker 1: We go back to this part o the Black Aja
- 2:45:56Speaker 1: who was with her elsa penfel Uh. She's our already
- 2:46:00Speaker 1: wearing the UH one of the bracelets to the domination band,
- 2:46:03Speaker 1: and she hands Samarage the other one. Samarage puts it
- 2:46:05Speaker 1: on and immediately takes control of Ran so everything. Every
- 2:46:09Speaker 1: time she wills him to do something, he starts moving
- 2:46:12Speaker 1: like so. First she compels him to use a weave
- 2:46:17Speaker 1: of air, fire and spirit and directs that weave at Min.
- 2:46:24Speaker 1: And this weave is a torture weave causes extreme pain,
- 2:46:28Speaker 1: so she for it, basically forces him to start torturing
- 2:46:31Speaker 1: his own girlfriend. And then she decides, you know what,
- 2:46:38Speaker 1: using the power isn't enough, use your own hand. So
- 2:46:43Speaker 1: he can't control his he can't control what he's doing.
- 2:46:46Speaker 1: He's compelled to reach out and start strangling men. And God,
- 2:46:53Speaker 1: here's the thing. Ran is becoming more and more desperate,
- 2:46:57Speaker 1: and while he's trying to like reach for the memories
- 2:46:59Speaker 1: of loose there and get help, h Rand discovers that
- 2:47:05Speaker 1: there's something else inside of him, kind of like a
- 2:47:09Speaker 1: kind of adjacent to the part of him that's connected
- 2:47:11Speaker 1: to the true source. There's another darker part. Oh my god,
- 2:47:19Speaker 1: oh no, So Rand, in desperation, reaches for that darker
- 2:47:24Speaker 1: part and is suddenly filled with a dark power. Oh no, yep,
- 2:47:31Speaker 1: So this is going to be spoiling some things for
- 2:47:35Speaker 1: the future. That's not gonna be revealed until future books.
- 2:47:39Speaker 1: But Rand has been is currently connected to Morden. This
- 2:47:45Speaker 1: connection was created when the two of them were in
- 2:47:48Speaker 1: Shadar Lo Goth when Mordan saved him from Mashadar. The
- 2:47:53Speaker 1: two of them had fired off a beam their own
- 2:47:56Speaker 1: beams of bailfire to dry. I've the missed entity back.
- 2:48:01Speaker 1: But while they were firing their own individual streams of bailfire,
- 2:48:05Speaker 1: the beams intersected with each other, and it was during
- 2:48:09Speaker 1: this crossing of streams it created a string. It created
- 2:48:13Speaker 1: a connection between the two of them, and with this connection,
- 2:48:17Speaker 1: Wren got accessed, was able to got was able to
- 2:48:21Speaker 1: gain access to the Dark Ones Power. Oh no, the
- 2:48:27Speaker 1: True It's called the True Power. Now, I've mentioned the
- 2:48:30Speaker 1: True Power before. Like the True Source, it is a
- 2:48:35Speaker 1: It is similar to the True Source in the way
- 2:48:37Speaker 1: it's used. It is magic. It's a weave based form
- 2:48:40Speaker 1: of magic. But unlike the True unlike the One Power,
- 2:48:44Speaker 1: which works within the laws of physics and the power
- 2:48:49Speaker 1: and the pattern and everything, it doesn't break the pattern.
- 2:48:52Speaker 1: It doesn't like. It just manipulates and warps the pattern
- 2:48:56Speaker 1: to your uh, to your will. The True Power is
- 2:49:03Speaker 1: the complete opposite. The way it works is that it
- 2:49:06Speaker 1: doesn't bend or warp the pattern to your liking. It
- 2:49:11Speaker 1: breaks and tears it. It doesn't just tear it, it
- 2:49:14Speaker 1: shears it. It's brutal, it's haggard. It just like brutally
- 2:49:19Speaker 1: and like filthy. It just fe it just rips it apart,
- 2:49:26Speaker 1: all right. And the True power, the amount of power
- 2:49:29Speaker 1: that Ran draws into himself, he realizes is almost is
- 2:49:33Speaker 1: pretty much on par with the amount of power he
- 2:49:35Speaker 1: draws from the Troad and Call, which is way more
- 2:49:38Speaker 1: than he's able to draw on his own. And using
- 2:49:42Speaker 1: the True Power, Ran directs it into the Domination Band
- 2:49:47Speaker 1: and destroys it. So the thing about the Domination band
- 2:49:51Speaker 1: is that the Domination band is also made of quendiar.
- 2:49:56Speaker 1: With with the one power, you can't destroy Quendyar. I mean,
- 2:49:59Speaker 1: you technically can, but you have to use a specific
- 2:50:02Speaker 1: weave to do it. But with the True power. Since
- 2:50:05Speaker 1: the True power breaks and destroys the weave, destroys the pattern,
- 2:50:11Speaker 1: which is what is used to create Quendyar, you can
- 2:50:15Speaker 1: break Quendyar with the True power. So he destroys the
- 2:50:19Speaker 1: domination ban, gets up, turns on Samarage, gives her the like,
- 2:50:26Speaker 1: gives her the egle, the evil eye, like that as
- 2:50:31Speaker 1: is mad, like your ass is grass and I'm gonna
- 2:50:34Speaker 1: mow it. Yeah, not the mower, and like Samarage has
- 2:50:40Speaker 1: this one moment of like, let's well shit, and Ran
- 2:50:47Speaker 1: uses the True Power to weave bailfire and obliterates both
- 2:50:51Speaker 1: Semarage and Elsa. So she is dead, deceased. We will
- 2:50:57Speaker 1: never see Samarage again. I'm sorry, I'm a little disappointed
- 2:51:00Speaker 1: because she's probably my favorite of the Forsaken, next to Landfair,
- 2:51:03Speaker 1: just because of the sheer batshit crazy.
- 2:51:05Speaker 4: All right, because of course, you know, well she got.
- 2:51:10Speaker 1: She got got. The thing is that in the wake
- 2:51:14Speaker 1: of this, Rand is so thoroughly pissed off because, for
- 2:51:19Speaker 1: one thing, the Domination Band should have been hidden. He
- 2:51:22Speaker 1: had left it in kats Wwayne's care, but Samaras had
- 2:51:26Speaker 1: not only escaped, but she had gotten a hold of
- 2:51:27Speaker 1: it and used it on him. And also Katswayne had
- 2:51:31Speaker 1: been using the had been keeping the Children Call from
- 2:51:34Speaker 1: him like he had. She had the access key and
- 2:51:37Speaker 1: refused to give it back to him, So Rand orders
- 2:51:41Speaker 1: his forces to to raid Katswayne's quarters. They take the
- 2:51:47Speaker 1: children Call access key from her from her possession, and
- 2:51:52Speaker 1: that he has her arrested and he summoned. So he
- 2:51:57Speaker 1: summons her to him. He explains what happened, and before
- 2:52:02Speaker 1: she can say anything, he turns to the ashaman that
- 2:52:05Speaker 1: are with her and says, I want you to observe
- 2:52:08Speaker 1: this weave and memorize it, and he uses bailfire in
- 2:52:11Speaker 1: front of them. He doesn't kill, no, he doesn't kill
- 2:52:14Speaker 1: kat Swayne. He just uses it to destroy one of
- 2:52:17Speaker 1: his coats, and Kats Swayne immediately admonishes him for using
- 2:52:21Speaker 1: bailfire because I said I forbid the use of bailfire.
- 2:52:25Speaker 1: But he tells her to go fuck herself because like
- 2:52:28Speaker 1: tells her what just happened, and Kats Wwayne also realizes
- 2:52:35Speaker 1: that he has the TODN calls access key now and
- 2:52:40Speaker 1: he tells her that he's done with her because she
- 2:52:45Speaker 1: had failed him and that she had basically allowed this
- 2:52:47Speaker 1: to happen because she got careless, and he exiles her
- 2:52:51Speaker 1: from his from his retinue on the threat of death,
- 2:52:57Speaker 1: that if she ever shows her face to him again,
- 2:53:00Speaker 1: he'll kill her. So from here it is a downward
- 2:53:05Speaker 1: slope of Jesus. Yeah, it's a downward slope. He's becoming
- 2:53:10Speaker 1: more paranoid. He he's become more distrustful and he's keeping
- 2:53:15Speaker 1: he's keeping his distance from men now. Even though men
- 2:53:19Speaker 1: doesn't blame him, he blames himself because he because it
- 2:53:23Speaker 1: was his hand that was that nearly killed her yeah,
- 2:53:27Speaker 1: so the thing is Matt. The thing is not Matt.
- 2:53:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Rand. Uh. He begins to take a more
- 2:53:40Speaker 1: proactive role in and vander Evan. They've captured us. Many
- 2:53:45Speaker 1: of the of the merchant, of the merchant council, the
- 2:53:50Speaker 1: sea folk kind of had finally arrived in the city,
- 2:53:53Speaker 1: had finally arrived in their ships with all the provision
- 2:53:56Speaker 1: that he had ordered to be taken to be delivered
- 2:53:58Speaker 1: from Tier and and uh he begins to order its
- 2:54:04Speaker 1: distribution among the city and among the people. Uh. Rue
- 2:54:08Speaker 1: Art confronts Ran about the fifth since they took since
- 2:54:13Speaker 1: the ael took the city, they are they are entitled
- 2:54:16Speaker 1: to taking the fifth of the plunder, and Rand reluctantly agrees,
- 2:54:22Speaker 1: but only but only allows him to take it from
- 2:54:24Speaker 1: the richer districts because you know, as usual, the rich
- 2:54:28Speaker 1: often like hoard their their wealth and also their provisions.
- 2:54:33Speaker 1: So he tells him just take from them, leave the
- 2:54:36Speaker 1: leave the poor folk alone, all right. Uh. He learns
- 2:54:45Speaker 1: from several of the the quat the quack, I almost
- 2:54:48Speaker 1: said quack, the captured merchant council that they may know
- 2:54:53Speaker 1: of where the the king is, and they get updates
- 2:54:59Speaker 1: about the king stat of the king's well being from
- 2:55:01Speaker 1: a messenger. The thing is that before the messenger can
- 2:55:05Speaker 1: be brought to him, they find out that the messenger
- 2:55:08Speaker 1: had been executed. And this puts this, uh, this put
- 2:55:13Speaker 1: to the counsel woman in deep ship because she's like,
- 2:55:16Speaker 1: I didn't do it. I swear to God, I didn't
- 2:55:17Speaker 1: do it. I had him in my musty. But but
- 2:55:20Speaker 1: he's dead and Sorelli I keeps it well, so really
- 2:55:28Speaker 1: I'm sorry, not so Relia. While Kat Swayine has now
- 2:55:31Speaker 1: is now been exiled, she still follows Rand, but she
- 2:55:33Speaker 1: keeps her distance and makes sure to keep her face
- 2:55:35Speaker 1: hidden because she's not about to give up on Rand. Uh.
- 2:55:39Speaker 1: She even she even goes so far to get Sorellia
- 2:55:41Speaker 1: to help her, which is like real biting of her ego,
- 2:55:45Speaker 1: like real like swallow over her pride and everything. Let's
- 2:55:53Speaker 1: see here. He does come to a disagreement with Ninive
- 2:55:58Speaker 1: because since Rn is becoming so like paranoid, and he's
- 2:56:02Speaker 1: also becoming very detached, he's not considering people as people
- 2:56:08Speaker 1: but as tools and ponds, and this pisses Ninive off
- 2:56:12Speaker 1: because he makes a comment about Land being about Land's
- 2:56:16Speaker 1: campaign to Toomer's gap as a distraction for the trolux,
- 2:56:22Speaker 1: which pisses her off because she's like, he's not a distraction,
- 2:56:25Speaker 1: you need to help him, but doesn't get this doesn't
- 2:56:29Speaker 1: get really, this doesn't get far with him. So after
- 2:56:34Speaker 1: Rand learns that the King's messenger had been killed while
- 2:56:38Speaker 1: in prison, Ran orders her to be thrown into the
- 2:56:41Speaker 1: same prison she kept the messenger in, and so Ninive
- 2:56:49Speaker 1: and kat Swain and the other isid Eye. They they
- 2:56:54Speaker 1: observe the They observe the city of bander Eben, and
- 2:57:00Speaker 1: they also began seeing the spirits of the dead appear,
- 2:57:05Speaker 1: and which really reaffirms the fact that the final battle
- 2:57:09Speaker 1: is coming because the dead are rising. And during her
- 2:57:16Speaker 1: exploration of the city, Ninieve gets an idea to find
- 2:57:20Speaker 1: to get more information about the King's messenger who was killed,
- 2:57:24Speaker 1: So she takes she takes some soldiers and they head
- 2:57:27Speaker 1: to where the messenger was being held. They she finds
- 2:57:35Speaker 1: the man who is basically in charge of keeping him hidden.
- 2:57:41Speaker 1: Hang God, I'm sorry, somebody, what's going on? What happened? Oh? Sorry?
- 2:57:47Speaker 1: My so my work colleagues just messaged me through discord
- 2:57:51Speaker 1: and I'm just like, okay, work, what's going on, oh oh,
- 2:57:57Speaker 1: it's nothing near mind like, stop bothering, trying to get
- 2:58:01Speaker 1: through this almost eight o'clock. Yeah, anyway, So Naive discovers
- 2:58:16Speaker 1: that one of the one of the wardens that was
- 2:58:21Speaker 1: that kept the messenger at prison, had been poisoned, and
- 2:58:24Speaker 1: she manages to heal him. She learns that after after
- 2:58:32Speaker 1: capturing the other jailers and questioning them, they learned that
- 2:58:37Speaker 1: the man had died from being poison and they and
- 2:58:43Speaker 1: she asked him, okay, well how do you how did
- 2:58:45Speaker 1: he get poisoned? If you were if you had been
- 2:58:47Speaker 1: given orders just to keep him alive and just hidden here,
- 2:58:51Speaker 1: and they said that, well, the one who prepares his
- 2:58:53Speaker 1: food is the young apprentice. And when they say this,
- 2:58:58Speaker 1: the very apprentice tries to make a run for it,
- 2:59:00Speaker 1: but Ninive manages to have him captured, and Ninive immediately
- 2:59:06Speaker 1: goes to Ran and tells him that they had just
- 2:59:10Speaker 1: captured this this young apprentice. It was just a boy,
- 2:59:14Speaker 1: and she believes that he may have some form of
- 2:59:17Speaker 1: block or he may be under compulsion. Ran, after observing him,
- 2:59:22Speaker 1: confirms that he is under compulsion and shows him and
- 2:59:25Speaker 1: tells Ninive how to remove it because the thing is
- 2:59:27Speaker 1: is that this compulsion was done with weaves of cider,
- 2:59:31Speaker 1: meaning it was done by a woman. And since he
- 2:59:35Speaker 1: can't see the weaves, he can't properly remove the compulsion.
- 2:59:38Speaker 1: But he shows her how to do it. And the
- 2:59:41Speaker 1: way it's done is by using her own weaves of compulsion,
- 2:59:45Speaker 1: which she does know how to. She does know it
- 2:59:47Speaker 1: because she learned from Ogedion. She has to create a mirror,
- 2:59:51Speaker 1: an exact copy of the of the weave, and overlay
- 2:59:54Speaker 1: it on the other weave that's on the mind. And
- 2:59:57Speaker 1: once they touch each other, they cancel each other out. Yeah,
- 3:00:01Speaker 1: And the thing is is that rand didn't tell Ninive
- 3:00:06Speaker 1: that when Grendel places compulsion on her subjects, she completely
- 3:00:12Speaker 1: wipes their brain, making them totally submissive and totally under
- 3:00:17Speaker 1: her control. Because that is, out of all the forsaken,
- 3:00:24Speaker 1: Grendel is the is the strongest. She has the talent
- 3:00:30Speaker 1: for compulsion. Her compulsion weaves are so intricate that they're
- 3:00:34Speaker 1: nearly impossible to remove, and they're also they also completely
- 3:00:38Speaker 1: wipe the person's brain. All right, that's just done as
- 3:00:43Speaker 1: a that's just she just does that just in case
- 3:00:46Speaker 1: any of her any of her little Thralls get captured
- 3:00:50Speaker 1: and the compulsions removed, they can't they won't be able
- 3:00:52Speaker 1: to reveal anything because well, there after the compulsions removed,
- 3:00:56Speaker 1: they're basically lobotomized puppets.
- 3:00:59Speaker 2: Yeah, makes perfect sense.
- 3:01:01Speaker 1: So the thing is, though Rand was after the compulsion
- 3:01:06Speaker 1: was removed and the boy was rendered catatonic, the boy
- 3:01:11Speaker 1: in like I guess, still had some semblance of his
- 3:01:14Speaker 1: like his own ego, and was able to reveal it.
- 3:01:17Speaker 1: Was able to say two words before he dies, Natron's barrow.
- 3:01:24Speaker 3: Natron's barrow.
- 3:01:26Speaker 1: Yes, that is the location of Grendel's high out ooh.
- 3:01:32Speaker 1: So while Nineveh criticizes Rand's method, he replies that this
- 3:01:38Speaker 1: is the only way for them to win, especially against Grendel.
- 3:01:43Speaker 1: So let's see here. Let me see here. So, now
- 3:02:09Speaker 1: knowing where Grendel is hiding, Rand takes one of the
- 3:02:13Speaker 1: Domani lords, guy named ram Shalen, and Ninive with him
- 3:02:18Speaker 1: to Natrum's barrow. Ran weaves a gateway and sends Ramshalen there,
- 3:02:24Speaker 1: telling him that he's to approach the lords of Ramshaalen's barrow.
- 3:02:28Speaker 1: He's supposed to approach the lord's overseeing Natrum's barrow and
- 3:02:34Speaker 1: offer a presented a peace offering. The thing is Rand
- 3:02:42Speaker 1: knew that as soon as Ramshalen enters natrom barrow and
- 3:02:49Speaker 1: is presented to Grendel, Grendel would immediately put him under compulsion.
- 3:02:53Speaker 1: So this was meant to be done as a decoy
- 3:02:55Speaker 1: to confirm that she's not only there all right, but
- 3:02:58Speaker 1: to like get her to like her guard down. So
- 3:03:02Speaker 1: when he sends Ramshalen in, he returns a few like
- 3:03:04Speaker 1: an hour later, and they can tell that he's under
- 3:03:07Speaker 1: a strong compulsion. So he immediately has ninety removed the compulsion.
- 3:03:13Speaker 1: But as soon as that's done, he turns to the holdout.
- 3:03:18Speaker 1: Natrum's barrow is like a fortress, nice big old fortress.
- 3:03:26Speaker 1: Reaching into his pouch, he pulls out the chidren calls
- 3:03:30Speaker 1: access key, and draws on as much power as he
- 3:03:33Speaker 1: can from it. As soon as he has enough power,
- 3:03:37Speaker 1: he weaves bail fire and fires it at Natrum's borrow,
- 3:03:42Speaker 1: completely disintegrating the entire fortress and everyone in it. This
- 3:03:49Speaker 1: was a shocking scene because the thing is is that
- 3:03:53Speaker 1: aside from Grendel, there are hundreds of innocent people in there.
- 3:03:58Speaker 1: But Ran insists that no matter how many people are
- 3:04:03Speaker 1: in that fortress, every single one of them will be
- 3:04:06Speaker 1: under the complete control of Grendel's compulsion. So even if
- 3:04:12Speaker 1: they were able, if he was able to confront Grendel directly,
- 3:04:16Speaker 1: which it would be impossible, because the thing about Grendel
- 3:04:18Speaker 1: is that she's more crafty and more slippery than even Moghedian,
- 3:04:23Speaker 1: and Molgeddian is known for being slippery. All right, Yeah,
- 3:04:28Speaker 1: she's very smart and highly intelligent. She's not an idiot, Okay,
- 3:04:34Speaker 1: so much to the fact that this attempt on her
- 3:04:37Speaker 1: life doesn't even kill her. He does, so let me explain,
- 3:04:45Speaker 1: Let me explain something. The thing is is that I'm sorry,
- 3:04:50Speaker 1: I misspoke. So Rand doesn't have Nineve remove the compulsion
- 3:04:54Speaker 1: weave because he knows that once you kill the channeler
- 3:04:57Speaker 1: who made it, the compulsion weave will disappear. So by
- 3:05:02Speaker 1: destroying Natchum's barrow with bailfire, it would have also destroyed
- 3:05:10Speaker 1: Grendall and anyone else. It would have also destroyed Grendall.
- 3:05:13Speaker 1: So as soon as the as soon as the city
- 3:05:18Speaker 1: as the fortress was destroyed, the compulsion weaves immediately disappeared,
- 3:05:25Speaker 1: leading Rand to believe that Grendall is dead. No, so
- 3:05:35Speaker 1: just a quick switch perspective the store. Later on, we
- 3:05:39Speaker 1: do learn that from Grendel's perspective, Ramshaland was presented to her,
- 3:05:45Speaker 1: and she thought it was strange. How would this how
- 3:05:48Speaker 1: would this lord know where she was? Like, he didn't
- 3:05:52Speaker 1: know that she was Grendall, but it seems strange that
- 3:05:54Speaker 1: out of nowhere, this random lord just appears on her doorstep,
- 3:05:57Speaker 1: and she immediately suspects that this must be a plot
- 3:06:00Speaker 1: from the Dragon Reborn, So instead of placing the compulsion
- 3:06:04Speaker 1: weaves on him herself, she orders uh araan Gar, who
- 3:06:10Speaker 1: was also hiding out there with her, to place compulsion
- 3:06:14Speaker 1: weaves on her. But oraan Gar, who was in his Orangar,
- 3:06:19Speaker 1: has never been very proficient with compulsive weaves, so he
- 3:06:23Speaker 1: tells his attendant, who is a member of the Black Aja,
- 3:06:28Speaker 1: to do it for him. So she, so black As Sister,
- 3:06:32Speaker 1: places the compulsion weave on ram Shalen and sends him
- 3:06:35Speaker 1: on his.
- 3:06:35Speaker 3: Merry way, little bitch.
- 3:06:38Speaker 1: So yeah, and the thing is is that Grendel, being
- 3:06:41Speaker 1: in somewhat good favor with the Dark One, the Dark
- 3:06:43Speaker 1: One gave her limited access to the True Power, and
- 3:06:46Speaker 1: using the True Power, she uses a weave to place
- 3:06:50Speaker 1: a form of like puppetry on a pigeon or like
- 3:06:54Speaker 1: a bird, usually works better on ravens, but she didn't
- 3:06:57Speaker 1: want to draw suspicion, so she used a regular bird
- 3:06:59Speaker 1: like a pigeon and controlling the pigeon's actions. She can
- 3:07:03Speaker 1: also see through its eyes using the True Power, and
- 3:07:07Speaker 1: she does. She used the True power because it's undetectable
- 3:07:10Speaker 1: by even Rand. All right, so following Ramschellen using the bird,
- 3:07:18Speaker 1: she sees from its perspective, Ramshellen returning to Rand, she
- 3:07:23Speaker 1: sees Rand order Ninive to check for compulsion and she
- 3:07:28Speaker 1: which confirmed, which confirms Grendel's suspicions that Ninive is going
- 3:07:34Speaker 1: to be a threat would be a threat to her
- 3:07:36Speaker 1: because Ninive is as powerful as Grendel, like on the
- 3:07:42Speaker 1: in terms of power charge Mogeion is like a fourth
- 3:07:45Speaker 1: level Ninive and Grendel are a third level channelers. Yeah,
- 3:07:51Speaker 1: there's a proper like powering from them from the uh
- 3:07:55Speaker 1: Wheel of Time companion, but like they're both like level
- 3:07:59Speaker 1: three channels, which is like third highest and on the charts.
- 3:08:04Speaker 1: And anyway, Grendel is like confused, so like why is
- 3:08:07Speaker 1: he here and why hasn't Ran just brought it like
- 3:08:10Speaker 1: an entire force to attack her right and then she
- 3:08:13Speaker 1: sees through the bird's perspective, Ran pulling out the Children
- 3:08:15Speaker 1: Call's access key, and she freaks out. She's like, oh shit,
- 3:08:19Speaker 1: oh shit. She immediately breaks the connection with the bird
- 3:08:22Speaker 1: and she's trying to keep her coal. She's like, oh,
- 3:08:24Speaker 1: it's about to happen. Something's about to happen. And then
- 3:08:27Speaker 1: she looks over at araand Gar and the Black As
- 3:08:31Speaker 1: Sister and she's like, wait, like, okay, he's gonna do something,
- 3:08:37Speaker 1: and like just a second, and then around Gar, who
- 3:08:43Speaker 1: is still connected to sighting senses, Ran channeling from the
- 3:08:47Speaker 1: Children Call and immediately like turns to it and she's
- 3:08:49Speaker 1: like and he's like that is oh my Like immediately
- 3:08:54Speaker 1: like looks away and looks towards where Rn is channeling
- 3:08:56Speaker 1: because she can feel that massive amount of power from
- 3:08:59Speaker 1: the from the tod and Call. And as soon as
- 3:09:03Speaker 1: he's distracted, Grendal snaps a shield over both him and
- 3:09:09Speaker 1: the Black As Sister and pin them in place, and
- 3:09:14Speaker 1: she opens a gateway and jumps through it, and just
- 3:09:17Speaker 1: as she jumps through it, the entire fortress vanishes in
- 3:09:21Speaker 1: a puff of in a flash, of light, and she
- 3:09:27Speaker 1: only had enough time to weave a gateway outside of
- 3:09:31Speaker 1: the fortress, like a little like a mile outside of
- 3:09:33Speaker 1: the fortress. So she escaped and ran. Now thinks she's dead,
- 3:09:37Speaker 1: But just as the fortress vanishes, she experienced she and
- 3:09:43Speaker 1: everyone within like several hundred miles of the of this
- 3:09:48Speaker 1: event experienced something called a bail scream. So whenever bailfire
- 3:09:54Speaker 1: is used to destroy anything people, like whenever just a
- 3:10:02Speaker 1: regular channeler fires bailfire and kills another person with it,
- 3:10:06Speaker 1: the ripple in the pattern is not really that great
- 3:10:09Speaker 1: because it does affect the pattern by burning through the
- 3:10:12Speaker 1: threads that burning through that particular person or object's thread, right,
- 3:10:19Speaker 1: But since Rand used an incredibly powerful beam of bailfire
- 3:10:23Speaker 1: to destroy an entire fortress, the ripple that it created
- 3:10:27Speaker 1: is called is something called a bail scream. Bail scream
- 3:10:31Speaker 1: is like a warp in the pattern. It's just this
- 3:10:34Speaker 1: feeling of sheer wrongness. It's like the whole It's like
- 3:10:37Speaker 1: you can feel the fabric of reality shifting around you.
- 3:10:40Speaker 1: It's a very unpleasant feeling. And the thing is it
- 3:10:43Speaker 1: also ripples through time because earlier on in the story,
- 3:10:47Speaker 1: like Hell, even in the previous book, several characters suddenly
- 3:10:52Speaker 1: experienced this wave of just wrongness that like it felt
- 3:10:55Speaker 1: like the pattern was shifting around them. And the first
- 3:11:01Speaker 1: the reason it's called a bail screen because back in
- 3:11:04Speaker 1: the age of Legend, so many channelers in the height
- 3:11:07Speaker 1: of the war were using bailfire that it caused such
- 3:11:10Speaker 1: a massive distortion in the pattern that that was what
- 3:11:14Speaker 1: caused bailfire to become forbidden, because it literally almost tore
- 3:11:19Speaker 1: a hole through the pattern. It almost broke the pattern
- 3:11:23Speaker 1: break space time. So the thing is is that upon
- 3:11:29Speaker 1: returning to Bander Evan Rand realizes that there's nothing he
- 3:11:35Speaker 1: can do the people. The people have no king. He
- 3:11:39Speaker 1: can't find the remaining members of the merchant Council to
- 3:11:43Speaker 1: name a new king, and he refuses to insert himself
- 3:11:45Speaker 1: as a king over this country because it's already proven
- 3:11:49Speaker 1: to be that's already proven to have caused problems in
- 3:11:53Speaker 1: the past, and instead he decides to completely abandon the
- 3:11:59Speaker 1: city as well as would as well as arid Doman,
- 3:12:05Speaker 1: and he begins ordering his forces to withdraw from the
- 3:12:09Speaker 1: from the country. It's also revealed that the food that
- 3:12:15Speaker 1: he brought to the people had completely gone bad. So
- 3:12:20Speaker 1: like all that food he had the Seafold bring bring
- 3:12:24Speaker 1: spoiled instantly. So now because of his failure to bring
- 3:12:34Speaker 1: peace super peace with the shan Shan, Ran now has
- 3:12:39Speaker 1: to focus his forces on dealing with them before they
- 3:12:41Speaker 1: can focus on on the borderlands. Because now he had
- 3:12:45Speaker 1: just received reports from Iterul that the Troalic forces have
- 3:12:49Speaker 1: gathered in the Blight and now are attacking, so the
- 3:12:55Speaker 1: last battle is beginning. Uh. Rand tells Dabran Bashir that
- 3:13:04Speaker 1: he expects to begin UH gathering their forces and take
- 3:13:12Speaker 1: Uh and orders him to find the Borderland the Borderlander army,
- 3:13:17Speaker 1: So they're not gonna they're not gonna worry about Arab
- 3:13:19Speaker 1: Domin anymore. They're gonna begin focusing their attentions on the
- 3:13:23Speaker 1: on finding the Borderlanders and on the borderlands itself. Which
- 3:13:28Speaker 1: this was also another fucked up moment because all these
- 3:13:31Speaker 1: people in Arid Domin were abandoned, no food, no hope
- 3:13:37Speaker 1: for anything. It was a really shitty moment for for Randu.
- 3:13:43Speaker 1: Rand and his force, Ran himself along with his retinue,
- 3:13:48Speaker 1: returned to Tyr to begin making their plans to meet
- 3:13:50Speaker 1: with the Borderlanders army. Because they finally track them down
- 3:13:55Speaker 1: the Borderlanders are in far Matting, which is a city
- 3:13:59Speaker 1: that is protected by powerful tarangreal that creates that simulates
- 3:14:03Speaker 1: a steading, which basically is an area where the one
- 3:14:06Speaker 1: power does not exist, so Chandlers can't channel in Far Matting.
- 3:14:12Speaker 1: The thing is is that he believes that the Borderlanders
- 3:14:17Speaker 1: are trying to trap and trap him and refuses to
- 3:14:19Speaker 1: meet with them in far Matting, deciding that he's going
- 3:14:22Speaker 1: to just try to just take them by force, right,
- 3:14:25Speaker 1: And this is like he's becoming more and more erratic.
- 3:14:32Speaker 1: And the thing is is that behind his back, Kat swayin.
- 3:14:37Speaker 1: After consulting with Ninive and other members of the two
- 3:14:41Speaker 1: Rivers that had traveled with them, they realized that Rand
- 3:14:44Speaker 1: still has a father and that is tamal Thor, and
- 3:14:48Speaker 1: Tam Althor is currently traveling with Perrien. So get enlisting
- 3:14:54Speaker 1: Nineve's help. Enlisting that needs help. She goes to parents
- 3:15:06Speaker 1: encampment and finds Tam, and she convinces Tam to return
- 3:15:09Speaker 1: to Tear with him to speak with Rn, though upon
- 3:15:17Speaker 1: seeing Tam that although the two of them talk for
- 3:15:20Speaker 1: a little bit, Tam accidentally let slip that Kat Swayne
- 3:15:24Speaker 1: was the one who can who sent him there and Ran.
- 3:15:27Speaker 1: This enrages Rand and he lashes out and almost kills
- 3:15:31Speaker 1: Tam and after realizing that he'd almost killed his own father,
- 3:15:37Speaker 1: he flees, opening a gateway and flees the city entirely.
- 3:15:43Speaker 1: Ran ends up in Abu Dhar, the heart of Shan
- 3:15:47Speaker 1: Shan's controlled territory. And while Ran Yeah, while Rand is
- 3:15:53Speaker 1: impressed by the peace in the city that the shan
- 3:15:56Speaker 1: Chan has brought, he decided he's still planning. He decides
- 3:16:01Speaker 1: that he's just going to destroy the destroy the chan
- 3:16:03Speaker 1: Chahan here. Now he has the access key, he's going
- 3:16:07Speaker 1: to do it. But when he tries to seize the source,
- 3:16:10Speaker 1: he's still at this point, he's still being affected by
- 3:16:13Speaker 1: the by this physical sickness that channeling causes him. And
- 3:16:18Speaker 1: when he tries to sees Sidon he UH. He gets
- 3:16:23Speaker 1: really sick, falls over over, extreme nausea and cramping in
- 3:16:26Speaker 1: his stomach. And the thing is is that a crowd gathers.
- 3:16:31Speaker 1: Some Sean Chan soldiers approach him and he flees through
- 3:16:35Speaker 1: a gateway when he UH. When he opens the gateway,
- 3:16:41Speaker 1: when he comes out on the other side of the gateway,
- 3:16:43Speaker 1: he realizes that he has traveled to the very top
- 3:16:47Speaker 1: of the Dragon mount the very place that he had
- 3:16:50Speaker 1: died in his previous life. Oh my god, so Rand
- 3:16:56Speaker 1: is now basically he's having this complete moment of break,
- 3:17:00Speaker 1: like he's basically experiencing a mental break. He's like he's
- 3:17:05Speaker 1: in complete sorrow. He's realizing that his that he's failing,
- 3:17:10Speaker 1: that he doesn't seem much hope for his future. And
- 3:17:18Speaker 1: he takes the Todn call and begins to draw more
- 3:17:20Speaker 1: power through it, and there's a moment where it's like
- 3:17:24Speaker 1: he's going to give into the madness and take his
- 3:17:27Speaker 1: own life. It's much the same way that Loves there
- 3:17:30Speaker 1: and had taken his own life three thousand years before,
- 3:17:32Speaker 1: and that very in that very spot he's standing right now.
- 3:17:35Speaker 1: Though granted three thousand years ago that spot was flat
- 3:17:39Speaker 1: and didn't have a mountain. Then when he took his
- 3:17:43Speaker 1: life created it literally blew a hole through the earth
- 3:17:45Speaker 1: and created a volcano. But the thing is Ran has
- 3:17:58Speaker 1: a bit of a has an epiphany that moment, the
- 3:18:05Speaker 1: voice of Louse Theren whispers in his mind and makes
- 3:18:12Speaker 1: a point that Rand hadn't realized before that they had
- 3:18:16Speaker 1: already taken their life once before, and now they live again,
- 3:18:18Speaker 1: and this is their second chance to make everything right
- 3:18:22Speaker 1: they made that Rand had made some very terrible mistakes
- 3:18:26Speaker 1: as Loose Thearn in his past life, but now they
- 3:18:29Speaker 1: have a chance to make these two make it right.
- 3:18:32Speaker 1: This is their second chance, and this is his moment
- 3:18:38Speaker 1: of where this was the make or break moment where
- 3:18:42Speaker 1: he can either succumb to the madness or overcome it,
- 3:18:46Speaker 1: and he does. Instead of using the power of the
- 3:18:50Speaker 1: Chodn Call to destroy himself in the pattern, he begins
- 3:18:53Speaker 1: redirecting the power through back through the access key into
- 3:18:57Speaker 1: the massive statue outside of Kyrine. This causes the statue
- 3:19:02Speaker 1: and the access key to disintegrate, destroying the Choden Call,
- 3:19:08Speaker 1: and in that moment, Rand realizes that he will never
- 3:19:14Speaker 1: again hear the voice of Loose then and he accepts
- 3:19:19Speaker 1: that they are actually one and the same, because his
- 3:19:23Speaker 1: entire time he's been thinking that he and Luc Tharn
- 3:19:26Speaker 1: are two different people. Luc Theren was his past life
- 3:19:29Speaker 1: and he's the reincarnation, but they're two separate people. But
- 3:19:32Speaker 1: at that moment he realizes they're actually the same person,
- 3:19:35Speaker 1: just different lives, just different lives. Yeah, And at that moment,
- 3:19:42Speaker 1: the madness leaves him, and just above him on the
- 3:19:46Speaker 1: dragon in the clouds, above him, a ring breaks, a
- 3:19:51Speaker 1: ring in the clouds breakthrough and allowing sun to shine through.
- 3:19:58Speaker 1: And it's at this moment He's smiles and he laughs,
- 3:20:02Speaker 1: fulfilling kats Wayne's promise that she will make him, that
- 3:20:06Speaker 1: he will learn to laugh again and embrace his emotions.
- 3:20:10Speaker 1: And this is where book twelve, The Gathering Storm ends.
- 3:20:16Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:20:21Speaker 1: So just as I said, this is the moment, this
- 3:20:23Speaker 1: book was the moment where both Ran and Agwaine and
- 3:20:27Speaker 1: have a massive level up. They both come into extraordinary power.
- 3:20:32Speaker 1: In Igwaine's case, she became the true Ambulance seat. She's
- 3:20:38Speaker 1: no longer just the ambulin of the rebel Isid Eye.
- 3:20:41Speaker 1: She is the Amberlind Seat, the Amberline Seat. She's united
- 3:20:46Speaker 1: the White Tower once again, and now they are ready
- 3:20:49Speaker 1: to prepare for the final battle. In Ram's case, he
- 3:20:53Speaker 1: has overcome He's finally overcome the madness and deciding that
- 3:20:58Speaker 1: the Todn Call was too much power for him to hold,
- 3:21:01Speaker 1: destroys it and completely cleanse himself of the dark of
- 3:21:06Speaker 1: the Darkness. So he did some fucked up things in
- 3:21:10Speaker 1: this book. But now in book thirteen, which we will
- 3:21:16Speaker 1: be reviewing next week. Yep, he's going to be making
- 3:21:20Speaker 1: things right. He's going to be bringing people together. He's
- 3:21:23Speaker 1: going to be uniting the nations and to Timer Guidan.
- 3:21:31Speaker 3: So thank you all for the Say's episode. Catch us
- 3:21:33Speaker 3: next time. As we're talking about Book thirteen, which is called.
- 3:21:37Speaker 1: Book thirteen. You think I remember this after reading it?
- 3:21:42Speaker 3: You do a thing?
- 3:21:45Speaker 1: Well, because like there's fourteen books and I was reading
- 3:21:47Speaker 1: them back to back to back, so I wasn't like
- 3:21:49Speaker 1: looking at them as their names. I was like, all right,
- 3:21:51Speaker 1: book nine, Book ten, Book eleven, The next one is
- 3:21:55Speaker 1: Book thirteen. Towers of Midnight or the Tower of Midnight,
- 3:22:00Speaker 1: the Night Tower. Oh wait, no, no, no, it's Towers
- 3:22:03Speaker 1: of Midnight.
- 3:22:05Speaker 3: Towers of Midnight. Okay, I guess we talked about that.
- 3:22:10Speaker 1: That's all.
- 3:22:11Speaker 3: So then
