- 1:56Speaker 1: disguise coverage, where I've started kind of all over the place,
- 1:59Speaker 1: my mic was is over here, which is why it
- 2:01Speaker 1: sounded far away to start the show. Buffalo Bill has
- 2:05Speaker 1: been eliminated from the playoffs after a loss that it
- 2:11Speaker 1: seems like they continue to have. They don't just lose,
- 2:14Speaker 1: They have art form type of losses, the type of
- 2:19Speaker 1: losses that names are given to and that are placed
- 2:23Speaker 1: on lists, and ones that seem to be burned and
- 2:27Speaker 1: seared into your brain forever. And following that loss in
- 2:33Speaker 1: Denver to the Broncos in overtime in the divisional round,
- 2:36Speaker 1: Buffalo Bill's head coach Sean McDermott was fired, Buffalo Bill's
- 2:39Speaker 1: GM Brandon Bean, was promoted, and suddenly this Bill's organization
- 2:44Speaker 1: team franchise has kind of been thrust or plunged into chaos,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and we're going to talk about that chaos, some of
- 2:52Speaker 1: that chaos tonight. We are going to lead off this
- 2:55Speaker 1: show talking about the firing of Sean McDermott, the promotion
- 2:59Speaker 1: of Bean. If you're watching the show live right now,
- 3:03Speaker 1: we're listening to it, you know, early Wednesday morning. Brandon
- 3:06Speaker 1: Bean and Terry Paguler schedule to have a press conference
- 3:09Speaker 1: Wednesday the twenty first at ten am, so we'll get
- 3:11Speaker 1: some more answers there. But we're going to dive into
- 3:13Speaker 1: just kind of the firing, you know McDermott, How deserved
- 3:16Speaker 1: was it, how not deserved was it, the way it
- 3:18Speaker 1: was handled, everything time to being the roster, the on
- 3:21Speaker 1: field stuff, all that. We're gonna have a discussion on that.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Put a bow on that. Part of the reason I
- 3:26Speaker 1: wanted to lead off with that in this episode is
- 3:28Speaker 1: because there's a lot of you in the comments and
- 3:30Speaker 1: chat are already kind of putting through. We like to
- 3:33Speaker 1: make the show very engaging, you know, the brand in general,
- 3:36Speaker 1: but especially on the show. I like to make it
- 3:38Speaker 1: as engaging as possible, and I know a lot of
- 3:40Speaker 1: you have thoughts, questions, comments concerned. So we'll lead off
- 3:42Speaker 1: with that, put a bow on it, put it to
- 3:44Speaker 1: rest as much as we can, even though it will
- 3:46Speaker 1: not be put to rest for likely a very long time.
- 3:48Speaker 1: And then after that, we're going to dive into several
- 3:52Speaker 1: head coaching candidates that appear to be on the Buffalo
- 3:55Speaker 1: Bill's radar that also I think would make sense that
- 3:58Speaker 1: I like pros cons ranking them, you know, what they
- 4:03Speaker 1: bring schematically, what they bring from a philosophical or from
- 4:06Speaker 1: an identity perspective, who they kind of are as people,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and some of their journeys and steps. So I think
- 4:13Speaker 1: I think this will be a fun episode, even though
- 4:15Speaker 1: it's painful because football is pain. Sports are pain is
- 4:18Speaker 1: the comment just came in now from fireplays on mc
- 4:20Speaker 1: top three head coach wish list. We're going to get
- 4:22Speaker 1: into that in this episode. I'm gonna be detailing several
- 4:25Speaker 1: guys that you know, are out there that I think
- 4:28Speaker 1: makes sense, that are potentially, you know, rumored to be
- 4:31Speaker 1: on the Bills radar. You know, after Sean mcdermnal was fired,
- 4:34Speaker 1: it was reported that the Bills were starting to put
- 4:36Speaker 1: together head coaching candidate lists yesterday. So it's it's just
- 4:41Speaker 1: a very interesting way that things are going about. But yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about the head coaching spot. To the
- 4:46Speaker 1: comment that just came in, Yes, we're going to talk
- 4:47Speaker 1: about for for a lot of these right head coach
- 4:51Speaker 1: that comes in, who would be the defensive coordinator, who
- 4:54Speaker 1: would kind of be the offensive coordinator? If it's a
- 4:56Speaker 1: defensive minded guy. Are they calling plays if it's an
- 4:58Speaker 1: offensive minded guy, or they calling the place so you
- 5:00Speaker 1: don't really need no CE or a DC depending on
- 5:03Speaker 1: what side of the ball they're on, all that kind
- 5:05Speaker 1: of stuff. So, yeah, we'll be diving into that for
- 5:09Speaker 1: a bunch of these candidates. Questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, anything
- 5:14Speaker 1: from anyone that you you know, have on your mind. Questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, beliefs, philosophies, ideologies, maxim's, theorems,
- 5:23Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. We're gonna be diving into
- 5:26Speaker 1: a bunch of that to start the show and go
- 5:28Speaker 1: through and throw up the banner. Now, that says Sean
- 5:32Speaker 1: McDermott fired, Brandon being promoted. Also, I just saw as
- 5:36Speaker 1: we started, my wife texts me shout out to my wife,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and I saw somebody mentioned in the comments as well.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel just got hired as the Chargers offensive coordinator,
- 5:50Speaker 1: which I think is a good hire for them. And
- 5:54Speaker 1: I'm trying to fe man somebody already updated is Wikipedia page.
- 5:58Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah, mccannall just got hired as the Charges
- 6:01Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. So if you were a Mike McDaniel truther, uh,
- 6:05Speaker 1: wanted him to come to the Bills as an offensive coordinator,
- 6:08Speaker 1: as I did, but I didn't think it was likely.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I actually thought he would kind of push for another
- 6:11Speaker 1: head coaching job, So it's interesting that he's going to
- 6:14Speaker 1: be in OC. I think he's gonna do really well
- 6:16Speaker 1: with Herbert. I think McDaniel's a good offensive mind, good
- 6:20Speaker 1: run game design, which makes sense why he would mesh
- 6:22Speaker 1: well with Harbaugh. He just kind of gets away from
- 6:25Speaker 1: the run too easily or often. But playing under Jim Harbaugh,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I don't think that's gonna be a worried because he's
- 6:31Speaker 1: a guy who's gonna preach, you know, to kind of
- 6:32Speaker 1: pound the rock. But good run game design from Mike McDaniel, Shanahan, tree,
- 6:37Speaker 1: formational manipulation, personnel dictation, all that kind of stuff. I
- 6:41Speaker 1: think a lot of what his offense was in Miami
- 6:43Speaker 1: was tailored and fit for TUA in terms of, you know,
- 6:46Speaker 1: the first read aspect, the timing and the precision of
- 6:48Speaker 1: it in that way. But I think he's a good
- 6:51Speaker 1: offensive mind, really good at the details, good at coaching
- 6:54Speaker 1: up the wide receiver room again, just design, calling, layering.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I think he's a good mind. He's somebody that I
- 7:00Speaker 1: would have took here in Buffalo. If you know, I
- 7:02Speaker 1: wasn't expecting Sean mcdermoy to get fired. One of the
- 7:04Speaker 1: snares I kept preaching was if Joe Brady were to
- 7:06Speaker 1: take a job elsewhere, or if Joe Brady were to
- 7:08Speaker 1: be let go, I would welcome Mike McDaniel with open
- 7:11Speaker 1: arms as the Bills offensive coordinator. But alas another one
- 7:14Speaker 1: potential head coach, potential offensive coordinator off the board. If
- 7:18Speaker 1: you were a believer in Robert sala As, I am
- 7:20Speaker 1: a bit. He was hired late last night slash early
- 7:23Speaker 1: this morning to be the head coach for the Tennessee Titans.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So we'll kind of see what happens going down the road.
- 7:30Speaker 1: As again more names continue to fall off. Jeff Haffley,
- 7:33Speaker 1: Packers defensive coordinator, who I really like in terms of
- 7:37Speaker 1: how creative he is schematically. He was hired, I believe
- 7:39Speaker 1: officially or heavily reported as the Dolphins head coach yesterday,
- 7:44Speaker 1: So another name off the board. Guys are starting to
- 7:46Speaker 1: drop and fall a little bit. Will continue to see
- 7:48Speaker 1: what they say. Again. As Michael says in the chat here,
- 7:50Speaker 1: that's such a sharp hire for the Chargers. It really is.
- 7:54Speaker 4: I feel like Herbert hasn't gotten a lot of support
- 7:57Speaker 4: throughout his tenure with the Chargers, and just everything's been
- 8:00Speaker 4: going on, and now you go into next year with
- 8:03Speaker 4: in theory, a healthy offensive line, which when healthy is good.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You get Rashaun Slater back, you get Joe Alt back.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Those are huge steps forward kind of having two strong
- 8:11Speaker 1: bookends there, and now you have Mike mccannie'll call them
- 8:13Speaker 1: plays and designing your offense. Man. Yeah, I think that's
- 8:17Speaker 1: where that is a sharp hire. I think it's a
- 8:18Speaker 1: good move for the Chargers, who just seem they're they're
- 8:22Speaker 1: kind of been, like obviously a couple steps back from Bills,
- 8:25Speaker 1: or who knows, maybe not anymore. The Chargers always seem
- 8:29Speaker 1: to just kind of charger themselves every year. It feels
- 8:31Speaker 1: like there's hype that they don't really you know, the
- 8:34Speaker 1: brass ring, they don't grab the hunt. They never can
- 8:36Speaker 1: get over, but kind of to a lower level than
- 8:37Speaker 1: the Bills. So it's funny kind of just watching them
- 8:42Speaker 1: pitter patter and like sputter around a bit. But I
- 8:44Speaker 1: think they're a good squad. They got good dudes, they
- 8:46Speaker 1: got horses on the offensive side, they got some horses
- 8:48Speaker 1: on the defensive side. I am one of those people
- 8:51Speaker 1: who thinks Justin Herbert is sweet and yeah, now you
- 8:54Speaker 1: got a really good offensive mind in that building. We'll
- 8:56Speaker 1: see what happens with Jesse Minter, defensive coordinator on that
- 8:59Speaker 1: side of the We'll be talking about him in tonight's episode.
- 9:02Speaker 1: But if he were to stay, Wow McDaniel on one side,
- 9:06Speaker 1: mentioned on the other, really fun, fun and cool stuff.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna go back to the comments at the beginning,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and as this banner is up here now, Saint Sean
- 9:14Speaker 1: McDermott fire, Brandon be promoted. How does everybody feel about this? Questions, thoughts, comments, concerns.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Do you think the firing was justified? Do you think
- 9:22Speaker 1: it was justified but they didn't go about it the
- 9:24Speaker 1: right way? How do you feel about Brandon Bean? How
- 9:26Speaker 1: do you feel about the roster? Do you think one
- 9:29Speaker 1: of these two guys deserves more blame for the bills
- 9:32Speaker 1: failures year after year than the other? And why whatever
- 9:35Speaker 1: you got put it up into the chat. As always,
- 9:37Speaker 1: super chats get priority, and yeah, we're gonna go through
- 9:40Speaker 1: as many things as we can in tonight's episode. I
- 9:42Speaker 1: know there's a lot of thoughts on everyone's minds, so
- 9:45Speaker 1: kind of dive into it. No, I'm want to go
- 9:48Speaker 1: back to the very beginning. Marty says, how much dumping
- 9:51Speaker 1: on beat is on the schedule for tonight because I'm
- 9:53Speaker 1: ready to listen to all of it? Fair RJ No
- 9:57Speaker 1: too far? Rj RG says, so are we the Cleveland
- 10:00Speaker 1: Rounds now? Because it feels like we're the Cleveland Browns. No,
- 10:03Speaker 1: the Bills aren't there yet, Damn. Marty said they have
- 10:06Speaker 1: a good defense though. Kay Morris says, who do I fire? Now?
- 10:10Speaker 1: I know, I know, I know, I know. Uh ah,
- 10:18Speaker 1: great comedy from Jason. On tonight's episode of Disguy's coverage,
- 10:21Speaker 1: we discussed which is better to be admired or to
- 10:24Speaker 1: be an admiral. I do want to touch on that briefly.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And you know, the Bills ended up posting I didn't
- 10:30Speaker 1: watch it yet. They had dropped a little bit ago
- 10:32Speaker 1: as I was kind of preparing for the episode and
- 10:34Speaker 1: finishing daytime stuff. But I saw that they gave like
- 10:37Speaker 1: a nice farewell from the Bill's Twitter account to Sean McDermott.
- 10:40Speaker 1: But you know, in kind of relation to Jason's sweet
- 10:43Speaker 1: there just the optics of the firing of Sean McDermott
- 10:47Speaker 1: were so bad, like the that letter that press release,
- 10:51Speaker 1: I should say, and it not being proof read and
- 10:55Speaker 1: them trying to say has done an admirable job, but
- 10:58Speaker 1: instead they said, admire the fact that that didn't get check.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And I understand that people kind of make error. Somebody
- 11:07Speaker 1: makes a typo and doesn't catch it, but did nobody
- 11:09Speaker 1: else proof read it? And no one else was able
- 11:12Speaker 1: to catch it, or did nobody care enough to proofread it,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and they were just like, yeah, whatever, that's fine. It
- 11:17Speaker 1: just I thought that really was such a good microcosm
- 11:20Speaker 1: of kind of the optics of the day yesterday for
- 11:22Speaker 1: the firing and for the Bills organization, where it was
- 11:25Speaker 1: just you know, the news was kind of shocking, but
- 11:27Speaker 1: the way it seemingly all went down, especially with that
- 11:30Speaker 1: press release. Yeah, just yeah. And for again, if you
- 11:35Speaker 1: don't know, the first line of the press release from
- 11:38Speaker 1: Terry Paguler from the Bills about you know, hey, Brandon
- 11:41Speaker 1: Bean is getting promoted, Sean McDermott is no longer with us.
- 11:44Speaker 1: The first line was, you know, Sean has done an
- 11:46Speaker 1: admirable or it meant to say Sean has done an
- 11:48Speaker 1: admirable job, but instead of admirable, they wrote admirble, not great.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Marty says, is everyone kind of in the fire. Both
- 11:57Speaker 1: of them came. So this was my thought, I and
- 12:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna leave with this. I'm gonna keep going back
- 12:01Speaker 1: to the comments. I kind of want to put it
- 12:02Speaker 1: out there rather than kind of beating around the bush
- 12:04Speaker 1: too much. I I think Sean McDermott is a fault
- 12:09Speaker 1: for a lot of things. Again, the idea for this
- 12:10Speaker 1: Bills team, right, was to win a Super Bowl. Year
- 12:13Speaker 1: after year They've been championship contenders. You want to win
- 12:16Speaker 1: your division, right, you want to get a high seed,
- 12:18Speaker 1: you want to make the playoffs with the goal of
- 12:21Speaker 1: winning a super Bowl or at least getting there. The
- 12:23Speaker 1: Bills did not. The Bills been to the AFC Championship
- 12:25Speaker 1: multiple times. They faltered multiple times this year. You know,
- 12:29Speaker 1: no Kansas City Chiefs, no Baltimore Ravens, no Joe Burrow,
- 12:32Speaker 1: even though really much of the Big Bad and the
- 12:34Speaker 1: AFC four you has been the Chiefs, And you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: it was kind of like, okay, like can they do it?
- 12:39Speaker 1: If not? Now when it was being painted that way
- 12:41Speaker 1: by some of the fan base, but a lot of
- 12:42Speaker 1: that from the national media. However you slice it. The
- 12:46Speaker 1: Bills have failed to get over the hump. They failed
- 12:49Speaker 1: in the McDermott bean era, to accomplish the goals that
- 12:54Speaker 1: they set out and that the fan base came to expect,
- 12:56Speaker 1: which was win a Super Bowl or I think it
- 12:58Speaker 1: even some like just get like finally win the AFC,
- 13:01Speaker 1: get out of the AFC, and I think tied within that,
- 13:05Speaker 1: it wasn't just the you know, coming up short season
- 13:08Speaker 1: after season. It was the similar ways in which they
- 13:11Speaker 1: would come up short, where the defense just kind of
- 13:14Speaker 1: looks messy and ugly. Guys are banged up, the defensive
- 13:19Speaker 1: line looks toothless, like there's no pressure, there's no pass rush.
- 13:23Speaker 1: There's moments where it just seems like you're getting out coached,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you're getting taken advantage of the teams that you're playing
- 13:29Speaker 1: seem to have really good dudes on each side of
- 13:32Speaker 1: the ball, like all pro caliber guys and horses, and
- 13:35Speaker 1: you just kind of have Josh Allen and not much else.
- 13:38Speaker 1: It seems like year after year they were in the
- 13:40Speaker 1: same spot of how they would lose, the reasons for losing,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and kind of just not being able to get over
- 13:47Speaker 1: that hump right and within that. As I've said for
- 13:50Speaker 1: a couple of seasons, I was fine if Sean McDermott went.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I was fine if Sean McDermott state. I do not
- 13:56Speaker 1: think the grass is always greener On the other side,
- 13:58Speaker 1: I thought, if you fired Sean mcderm you could get
- 14:01Speaker 1: somebody who capitalizes on Josh Allen and builds the rest
- 14:04Speaker 1: of the roster, or does something great schematically and gets
- 14:07Speaker 1: you over the hump. Or you could plunge yourself into
- 14:12Speaker 1: horribly terrible depths and be worse than you've been for
- 14:17Speaker 1: the past couple of years. And I just thought it
- 14:20Speaker 1: was you know, there was an equal chance of having
- 14:22Speaker 1: both right, especially if you get a head coach that is,
- 14:24Speaker 1: you know, more of a coordinator and unproven. Even if
- 14:27Speaker 1: you get someone who is proven as a track record,
- 14:29Speaker 1: you still don't know what you're gonna get with them,
- 14:31Speaker 1: you know, in your building, with your team and these players,
- 14:33Speaker 1: so on and so forth. But you know, if you
- 14:36Speaker 1: wanted McDermot gone, I was fine with it. If you
- 14:38Speaker 1: wanted mcdermim to stay, I was fine with it. I
- 14:40Speaker 1: just didn't think the grass was always green on the
- 14:41Speaker 1: other side, and on the whole, I thought he was
- 14:43Speaker 1: a good coach and a guy running the ship, although
- 14:46Speaker 1: if you watch the show, you know I've had a
- 14:48Speaker 1: lot of issues with just kind of the schematic stuff
- 14:50Speaker 1: defensively in the playoffs, what they've been from a reactionary
- 14:54Speaker 1: standpoint versus a proactive play on the front foot type
- 14:56Speaker 1: of standpoint. And then my issues with the run defense
- 15:00Speaker 1: and how they built this roster on that side of
- 15:02Speaker 1: the ball kind of just behind the trends, behind the meta,
- 15:06Speaker 1: and how that's cost them and what that's done for
- 15:08Speaker 1: them from a negative standpoint. But for as much of
- 15:12Speaker 1: their you know, the failures and shortcomings for this team
- 15:16Speaker 1: fall on Sean McDermott, I think there's just as many
- 15:19Speaker 1: that fall on Brandon Bean. Brandon Bean's hands are bloody,
- 15:24Speaker 1: just like Sean McDermott's hands are bloody. Both of these
- 15:27Speaker 1: guys are extremely culpable. And my issue with how this
- 15:31Speaker 1: all went down was, you know, I thought, if you
- 15:33Speaker 1: fired Sean McDermott, okay, then you probably fire Bean clean
- 15:37Speaker 1: house all at once to kind of go from there.
- 15:40Speaker 1: And instead McDermott gets fired, Bean stays on, Bean gets
- 15:44Speaker 1: a promotion. Now you know, as a lot of people
- 15:47Speaker 1: have said and we alluded to on the Emergency Pod
- 15:49Speaker 1: yesterday here on Cover one, like we talked about, you know,
- 15:52Speaker 1: this could be being gets promoted to President Football Operations,
- 15:55Speaker 1: someone else takes over as the GM, right My issue
- 15:59Speaker 1: with that is still Bean is overseeing everything, and everything
- 16:02Speaker 1: is funneling into Bean, which is what will happen now
- 16:04Speaker 1: in that press release he got promoted to President of
- 16:07Speaker 1: Football Operations. He'll have oversight of the coaching staff and
- 16:10Speaker 1: the day to day so you know, a new GM
- 16:13Speaker 1: is going to report to him. The head coach and
- 16:15Speaker 1: the coaching staff will report to him like it all goes.
- 16:18Speaker 1: He's at the top of the pyramid, like Brandon Bean
- 16:20Speaker 1: is running the show right now. And my issue with
- 16:23Speaker 1: that is, again for the shortcomings of this team, I
- 16:27Speaker 1: thought Brandon Bean was very culpable and had a lot
- 16:30Speaker 1: of blood on his hands, just like Sean McDermott. Did.
- 16:32Speaker 1: You know more reports have come out in the past
- 16:34Speaker 1: couple of days of them, you know, each reporting to
- 16:37Speaker 1: Pagula and each having decision making power and so on
- 16:40Speaker 1: and so forth. But I kind of always just assumed that,
- 16:43Speaker 1: you know, I thought they were in lockstep for a
- 16:44Speaker 1: lot of years, we started to see some breadcrumbs a
- 16:47Speaker 1: little bit that showed that they might not be. But
- 16:50Speaker 1: when it came to building this team and building this
- 16:52Speaker 1: roster on the field stuff, Yes, Sean McDermott is coaching
- 16:55Speaker 1: this team, developing or not developing this team, schematically running
- 16:59Speaker 1: this team, making the in game decisions, all of that.
- 17:01Speaker 1: But when it came to building this team from an
- 17:03Speaker 1: identity standpoint, roster standpoint, philosophy standpoint, you got a bunch
- 17:08Speaker 1: of Bean and you got a bunch of McDermott, and
- 17:12Speaker 1: I thought they were just both culpable and each had
- 17:14Speaker 1: blood on their hands in the failures of this team,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and jettison ing Sean McDermott while leaving Brandon Bean to
- 17:21Speaker 1: me makes it appear like, no, no, no, McDermott was at
- 17:24Speaker 1: fault for everything. All the bad stuff was because of
- 17:25Speaker 1: McDermott being is fine, And who knows, Maybe that's what
- 17:28Speaker 1: it is. Maybe all the bad roster moves, all the
- 17:32Speaker 1: bad things that have plagued this team from a roster
- 17:34Speaker 1: construction standpoint, maybe they were all Sean McDermott. Maybe Bean's
- 17:38Speaker 1: hands are clean, They're not, But who knows. Maybe they are.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Maybe Bean has wanted to move in a different direction
- 17:44Speaker 1: schematically with the defense, but McDermott wanted to hold true
- 17:47Speaker 1: to what they've been and so that's why we saw
- 17:49Speaker 1: the players that were brought in for both of them
- 17:52Speaker 1: kind of in that regard or for the defense and
- 17:57Speaker 1: offensively all of that. You know, I just think it's
- 17:59Speaker 1: hard to parse who was responsible for what. There was
- 18:03Speaker 1: a lot of collaboration. I think there was a lot
- 18:05Speaker 1: of like mindedness between the two obviously that kind of
- 18:08Speaker 1: they each went their separate ways literally and figuravely as
- 18:10Speaker 1: the season kind of went on. But I think for again,
- 18:14Speaker 1: for as many shortcomings as Sean McDermott has had, and
- 18:16Speaker 1: he does have them, I'm not here to say Sean
- 18:18Speaker 1: McDermott was innocent and he shouldn't have gotten fired. But
- 18:21Speaker 1: I just think the optics of it are bad, especially
- 18:24Speaker 1: considering how much conversation was had this year, specifically on
- 18:27Speaker 1: the roster talent or not having talent, the receiver question,
- 18:32Speaker 1: how prickly Bean was, you know, on the radio when
- 18:35Speaker 1: it came to the receiver room, and then how much
- 18:37Speaker 1: of a receiver, how much of a problem the receiver
- 18:39Speaker 1: room kind of was as the season went on, and
- 18:42Speaker 1: how we just bristled at that notion and how that looked.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I just think the optics of it are all bad,
- 18:47Speaker 1: you know, and I do think there is something to
- 18:50Speaker 1: be said for you know, you know, if you want
- 18:51Speaker 1: to keep being on kind of like how they kept
- 18:53Speaker 1: way Leon when McDermott took over, you know, do you
- 18:56Speaker 1: want to keep somebody on to have that consistency. And
- 18:59Speaker 1: then I was like, Okay, maybe they'll let Bean go
- 19:00Speaker 1: after the draft, but no, he's getting a promotion, Sean
- 19:04Speaker 1: mcdermot's out. I just think the optics of it are bad.
- 19:07Speaker 1: From the outside they look bad. I think from within
- 19:09Speaker 1: the fan base they look bad, and national media wise
- 19:12Speaker 1: they look bad. It all just really kind of comes
- 19:15Speaker 1: out of comes out as you know, Brandon Bean having
- 19:19Speaker 1: Terry Pagoola's ear, whispering in that ear like the Lord
- 19:22Speaker 1: of the Rings meme for the dude who king I
- 19:27Speaker 1: should know this Faden, I think whatever, when he's essentially
- 19:32Speaker 1: kind of like a shell of himself and wormtung or
- 19:34Speaker 1: whatever is in his ear like whispering and like kind
- 19:36Speaker 1: of controlling him and doing all that stuff, it kind
- 19:37Speaker 1: of comes along almost gross like that, as if like
- 19:40Speaker 1: Bean is up in the box with Terry Pagoula during
- 19:43Speaker 1: a Bills game and something bad happens on the field
- 19:46Speaker 1: and Bean leans over and is like, you know, see,
- 19:48Speaker 1: that's that's why I didn't want that guy. Sean wanted
- 19:50Speaker 1: that guy. That guy that just dropped that pass. I
- 19:52Speaker 1: didn't want that guy. Sean wanted that guy. But I
- 19:54Speaker 1: was trying to be nice to Sean and kind of
- 19:55Speaker 1: give him what he wanted. And look at that guy
- 19:58Speaker 1: dropped that pass. That's that's a Sean McDermot guy. Somebody
- 20:00Speaker 1: missed the tackle, Being would and Terry would be like, oh,
- 20:02Speaker 1: how come that guy missed the tackle, and being Will
- 20:04Speaker 1: be like, that's good. That's a Sean McDermott guy. That's
- 20:06Speaker 1: why I didn't want that guy. I wanted somebody else,
- 20:08Speaker 1: but Sean wanted that guy. It just the optics of
- 20:10Speaker 1: it are just really ugly, really bad. And then you
- 20:13Speaker 1: pair that with the press release and more reports coming
- 20:18Speaker 1: from you know, the players being super shocked and not
- 20:21Speaker 1: liking how it went down, different reports coming from the
- 20:24Speaker 1: local media, and there's just optically it's just bad. It's ugly,
- 20:30Speaker 1: and I feel like Sean McDermott, you know, bears a
- 20:33Speaker 1: lot of the blame for this team not getting over
- 20:35Speaker 1: the hump, but I also feel like Brandon Bean does
- 20:37Speaker 1: as well, and that's my biggest thing with all of them.
- 20:40Speaker 1: My issue is necessarily Sean McDermott being fired. It's McDermott
- 20:43Speaker 1: being fired, being staying and being getting promoted because I
- 20:46Speaker 1: just felt like they were both you could say equal,
- 20:49Speaker 1: you could say one over the other, but they were
- 20:52Speaker 1: both extremely culpable when it came to this team's shortcomings.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Both had a lot of blood on their hands, and
- 20:59Speaker 1: it just optically, I just don't think this looks good
- 21:01Speaker 1: and I don't like it just with how it's kind
- 21:04Speaker 1: of playing out. And again, even if you know, Bean
- 21:08Speaker 1: is going to really be, you know, more of a
- 21:10Speaker 1: true president overseeing everything right, and there's gonna be a
- 21:13Speaker 1: new GM, whether it's Terrence Gray, Brian Gain, Internal, or
- 21:16Speaker 1: somebody else. But if it's internal, they're probably gonna share
- 21:19Speaker 1: a lot of Bean's vision. Bean is still going to
- 21:21Speaker 1: be in charge of everything. At the end of the day,
- 21:23Speaker 1: they're still reporting to Bean. So this team is really
- 21:25Speaker 1: gonna take on Brandon Bean's vision, and Brandon Bean's wants
- 21:29Speaker 1: and desires, and then a new head coach that comes
- 21:31Speaker 1: in is going to have to be in lockstep with
- 21:33Speaker 1: Bean and or is reporting to Bean. So, like, what
- 21:37Speaker 1: does that dynamic look like? Do coaches who are potentially
- 21:40Speaker 1: coming in and interviewing not like that dynamic? Do they
- 21:42Speaker 1: not want to report to Bean in that way? If
- 21:44Speaker 1: they have a different vision? You know, who knows? Maybe
- 21:47Speaker 1: you know, for as much as people like Clint Kubiak,
- 21:49Speaker 1: maybe he and Brandon Bean are just opposed in certain areas,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and so Clint Kubiak is like, no, thank you, Like
- 21:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna turn this down. I don't want to have
- 21:56Speaker 1: to report to that guy. Or I just don't think
- 21:58Speaker 1: we click and vibe and see things the same same light.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It just all kind of stacks and compels. And again,
- 22:03Speaker 1: time will tell for everything right, time will really tell
- 22:06Speaker 1: how much of the problem with Sean McDermott. How much
- 22:09Speaker 1: of the problem was Brandon Bean? Can a new coach
- 22:11Speaker 1: fix everything? Was it certain players that were the problem?
- 22:14Speaker 1: How much turnover will we see with this roster? How
- 22:17Speaker 1: much churn will there be? You know, do they start
- 22:21Speaker 1: to move in new directions? And even then you could
- 22:23Speaker 1: still play devil's advocate and be like, well, maybe Bean
- 22:25Speaker 1: is just doing this to placate the fans and make
- 22:27Speaker 1: it seem like this and that there's just at the
- 22:29Speaker 1: end of the day, it's just a lot of drama,
- 22:30Speaker 1: a lot of poor optics, a lot of messiness and
- 22:33Speaker 1: muddiness and murkiness, and a lot of things that I
- 22:36Speaker 1: don't think contribute positively to a team and an organization
- 22:40Speaker 1: that are trying to get to a Super Bowl. And again,
- 22:43Speaker 1: who knows, Time will tell. Maybe this will be better
- 22:45Speaker 1: for twenty twenty six, Maybe it'll be better in the
- 22:47Speaker 1: long run. Maybe this is the wound that had to
- 22:50Speaker 1: be cleaned out so this team could move forward. Time
- 22:53Speaker 1: will tell. It's just I just think Brandon Bean deserves
- 22:58Speaker 1: a good chunk of blamed, just like Sean McDermott deserves
- 23:01Speaker 1: a good chunk of blame. And and yeah, and just
- 23:05Speaker 1: the way it went down, how McDermot got fired, how
- 23:08Speaker 1: the organization responded, I just didn't like the optics of it.
- 23:10Speaker 1: As a like a person, I just think, again, whether
- 23:14Speaker 1: you wanted Sean McDermott fired or not, I don't think
- 23:16Speaker 1: a person should be treated that way or have such
- 23:18Speaker 1: a poor initial sendoff, especially one who has done so
- 23:21Speaker 1: much for this team. Again, the team didn't win the
- 23:23Speaker 1: Super Bowl, didn't accomplish what they wanted to. Sean McDermott
- 23:26Speaker 1: completely turned this team around, from a culture standpoint, from
- 23:28Speaker 1: an identity standpoint, from a free agent destination standpoint, to
- 23:31Speaker 1: a veteran trying to win a chip type of standpoint,
- 23:34Speaker 1: to rookies coming in and wanted to come to play
- 23:36Speaker 1: in Buffalo. He did a lot, and I think he
- 23:38Speaker 1: deserved a better send off. I think he deserved a
- 23:40Speaker 1: better way out, you know, from a large scale perspective
- 23:43Speaker 1: with all the just and then just from logistically how
- 23:45Speaker 1: this team was built. I think him being both had
- 23:47Speaker 1: bloody hands in this regard. But chiefs Den, let's go
- 23:53Speaker 1: forward and see a bunch of comments as we go through.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Gage says, I'm so ready for a schematic change on defense.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Me too, Me too. We have no capital in the
- 24:01Speaker 1: draft or cap, so I doubt it, but I'd love
- 24:04Speaker 1: a hybrid or three four scheme. Lord, please give me
- 24:07Speaker 1: bend on the edge. I feel like this comment was
- 24:10Speaker 1: written for me. I don't think there's any one right
- 24:12Speaker 1: way to build a defense. But regular listeners of the
- 24:15Speaker 1: show do know that, you know, Yeah, I'm more of
- 24:18Speaker 1: a three to four guy. I'm more of a hybrid
- 24:20Speaker 1: defense type of dude. I do like bend on the
- 24:23Speaker 1: edge and athleticism on the edge. And we'll see. I
- 24:25Speaker 1: think that's an interesting part with several of the head
- 24:27Speaker 1: coaching candidates we're gonna get into this episode with is
- 24:29Speaker 1: who they are schematically in philosophy and how that does
- 24:32Speaker 1: or doesn't jive with the current roster players they have
- 24:37Speaker 1: and what the bills have been in the past. And
- 24:39Speaker 1: I think that's an interesting kind of inflection point potentially.
- 24:42Speaker 1: But yeah, I wanted to skimatic change for years, and
- 24:46Speaker 1: we don't have a ton of capital or cap space.
- 24:48Speaker 1: We can make some cap space. There are guys who
- 24:50Speaker 1: can be cut, moved, extended, all those things. We'll get
- 24:53Speaker 1: into that throughout the off season here on the show.
- 24:55Speaker 1: But yeah, we'll kind of see, well kind of see
- 25:00Speaker 1: coming here from Forrest of Sleep saying I don't know
- 25:02Speaker 1: how Bean wins the room back. I think that's a
- 25:03Speaker 1: fair comment, especially with again how everything looks optically right now.
- 25:09Speaker 1: It just seems I mean, you've got people out there
- 25:11Speaker 1: putting memes of like Brandon Bean and it says like
- 25:14Speaker 1: snake behind him, Like, that's that's how it comes across
- 25:18Speaker 1: to the public at this point. And yeah, it's tough.
- 25:22Speaker 1: You know, perception is reality, and I feel that. I
- 25:26Speaker 1: think that's a very poigtant comment Marty saying, do we
- 25:28Speaker 1: know the players are mad versus upset? I think the
- 25:31Speaker 1: players are more shocked and or upset and how everything
- 25:38Speaker 1: went down with how McDermott was let go and the
- 25:41Speaker 1: process of like and how things kind of played out.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I don't know how you to find mad versus upset.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I think they are. I think they're I think they're
- 25:50Speaker 1: not pleased with how he was let go.
- 25:53Speaker 5: I'll put it that way, Okay, Morris is I think
- 26:00Speaker 5: a lot of people are forgetting about a lot of
- 26:01Speaker 5: the good that being has done over his time the
- 26:03Speaker 5: last one to two years.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I've really heard his public image, but what preceded that
- 26:06Speaker 1: was really good. Yeah, I've never been you know, super
- 26:10Speaker 1: on that train. That Bean has done a horrible job.
- 26:12Speaker 1: He's had a bunch of misses, but everybody kind of
- 26:14Speaker 1: has a bunch of misses. I would have liked more
- 26:17Speaker 1: impact players on this roster at a certain point, but
- 26:20Speaker 1: I think he and Sean McDermott have done a really
- 26:22Speaker 1: good job creating a high floor type of team. Now
- 26:26Speaker 1: they necessarily haven't had the high ceiling guys, they haven't
- 26:29Speaker 1: had those A tier S tier type of guys. But
- 26:31Speaker 1: I think I've done a pretty good job putting together
- 26:33Speaker 1: a roster of B minus to be maybe some B
- 26:35Speaker 1: plus type of guys here and there. And my whole
- 26:39Speaker 1: thing again with isn't saying that Bean has done a
- 26:42Speaker 1: horrible job. I do think there have been a lot
- 26:44Speaker 1: of questionable moves by being just like I think there's
- 26:46Speaker 1: been a lot of questionable moves from McDermott. My whole
- 26:49Speaker 1: frustration with this situation was more of again, I think
- 26:52Speaker 1: they're equally culpable in the failures of this team, or
- 26:55Speaker 1: close to being not even if you don't think it's equal,
- 26:58Speaker 1: they're both significantly holpable when it comes to the failures
- 27:01Speaker 1: of this team or this team coming up short and
- 27:03Speaker 1: getting rid of one and not getting rid of the other.
- 27:05Speaker 1: To me just doesn't seem right considering again how culpable,
- 27:10Speaker 1: you know, how significantly culpable they each are. But yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 1: I think Bean has done some good, just like he's
- 27:15Speaker 1: done some bad, which is even can make that case
- 27:17Speaker 1: for a lot of GMS. Nobody has one hundred percent
- 27:20Speaker 1: hit rate anywhere for anything. R J saying tomorrow's presser
- 27:23Speaker 1: will be the most listened to presser in the history
- 27:25Speaker 1: of sports. Yeah, I'm already trying figure out my workday
- 27:27Speaker 1: and what I can do to kind of get on
- 27:28Speaker 1: some things. Uh By fireplays on MC. We were going
- 27:33Speaker 1: to talk about that my top three head coach which
- 27:35Speaker 1: list we're going to get into that. Don't do this,
- 27:37Speaker 1: Kate Morriy Kmorey says Belichick, Gruden and Tomlin, Right, just kidding, No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Claus As, I spent all Sunday avoiding media. I've spent
- 27:45Speaker 1: a lot of time avoiding everything. I still haven't even
- 27:47Speaker 1: finished the tape. I haven't wanted to watch the tape.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I've just been going to bits and pieces here and
- 27:52Speaker 1: there in different moments. Yeah, I really haven't wanted to
- 27:54Speaker 1: do anything. I don't even want to watch the game Sunday.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Everything that's going on, it's just it all sucks. Question here,
- 28:02Speaker 1: is Josh required to do an end of season meeting
- 28:04Speaker 1: with the media. I don't know if required is the
- 28:06Speaker 1: right word or I can say required, but he usually
- 28:10Speaker 1: does something. He has been very quiet. We'll see. I
- 28:14Speaker 1: think at some point he needs to say something just
- 28:17Speaker 1: because of his status on the team and who he
- 28:19Speaker 1: is and what he is. Got our first Clint Kubiak
- 28:23Speaker 1: mentioned here. Jeffery says one Shanahan trade, two Bruce Arians
- 28:28Speaker 1: three Davis web Oh, Shannahan trade is interesting. Gage, just
- 28:31Speaker 1: give me Shula. We're gonna talk about Shula in this episode.
- 28:34Speaker 1: R J saying I think the correct move was either
- 28:36Speaker 1: fire Bean or fire Bean and McDermott this was the
- 28:40Speaker 1: worst option where the untalented snake is still here. It's
- 28:44Speaker 1: like we lost the culture and still have a bad GM.
- 28:50Speaker 1: By ba Fa fair point. I'm already saying Shanahan would
- 28:56Speaker 1: be interesting if he wouldn't probably require first. I would
- 28:58Speaker 1: take Kyle Shanahan and a heartbeat. I don't want to
- 29:00Speaker 1: have to give up picks for a coach, but I
- 29:02Speaker 1: really do value Kyle Shanahan a lot. By Eric saying
- 29:08Speaker 1: Clint with aident I always mispronounced dirt A's or Dird's
- 29:13Speaker 1: like last name. But yeah, So Clint Kootbiack essentially with
- 29:16Speaker 1: the Seahawks defensive coordinator and then saying Carl Scott or
- 29:18Speaker 1: Jim Schwartz is a name of people. A lot of
- 29:20Speaker 1: him bringing that up, his name up a lot, came Moore.
- 29:23Speaker 1: He's saying, Mike mcganil doing better with Herbert than two
- 29:26Speaker 1: would be a huge few to the Miami organization. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 29:31Speaker 1: Jason saying, wait until McDaniel finds out how slow Herbert's
- 29:34Speaker 1: feet and movements are. Yeah, but his eyes are fast,
- 29:36Speaker 1: his processing is fast, and he got a cannon cannon
- 29:39Speaker 1: cannon cannon, Bill saying everything is on Bean now. He
- 29:45Speaker 1: has no more scapegoats. His drafts and free agent signings
- 29:47Speaker 1: have been poor at best. He better hit on this
- 29:50Speaker 1: or the mafia is going to be out of their minds. Ye.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Fair point. Also, and again that's part of the optics too,
- 29:56Speaker 1: Like I feel like you put yourself more under the
- 30:01Speaker 1: microscope because I don't think this is a move that
- 30:04Speaker 1: And again I don't know how they thought it was
- 30:05Speaker 1: going to be perceived. But if they thought like, okay,
- 30:07Speaker 1: well let go Sean McDermott, and people think like, oh okay,
- 30:10Speaker 1: he must have been the problem. And if anything, it's
- 30:12Speaker 1: been like a complete one eighty, like you've almost galvanized
- 30:15Speaker 1: everybody behind McDermott because you fired McDermott and kept beat
- 30:21Speaker 1: Yeah Jose saying are we ever going to win a
- 30:24Speaker 1: Super Bowl? I need hope, but I just don't have
- 30:26Speaker 1: hope anymore. I don't know, man. I just want hope too.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I just want one before I die. That's it. Not
- 30:31Speaker 1: to get too dramatic or anything. I just want one
- 30:32Speaker 1: before I die. I want to share a Super Bowl
- 30:36Speaker 1: with the older adults in my family that I grew
- 30:39Speaker 1: up watching the Bills with as a little kid. You
- 30:42Speaker 1: never know life is again, not to get too deep
- 30:44Speaker 1: or anything, but life is so fleeting and you never
- 30:47Speaker 1: know what can happen with anyone, and not even the
- 30:49Speaker 1: older adults, like the people that my family and friends
- 30:52Speaker 1: and loved ones who are are Bills fans. I want
- 30:54Speaker 1: to share in that and experience that, and you never
- 30:58Speaker 1: know when your last on earth could be. And I
- 31:03Speaker 1: want the Bill. I want to Bill super Bowl so bad.
- 31:06Speaker 1: As a Bills fan, I'm a I'm a bigger football
- 31:09Speaker 1: fan than I am a Bills fan, and so I
- 31:11Speaker 1: can still find things to appreciate in the game even
- 31:14Speaker 1: when the Bills lose or when the Bills come up
- 31:15Speaker 1: short and I enjoy the free agent process and the
- 31:19Speaker 1: evaluation process of college football and all of that. But yeah,
- 31:22Speaker 1: I want to build Super Bowl so bad man, and
- 31:25Speaker 1: I don't know I did. This was another one The
- 31:28Speaker 1: Bill's lost again, not to get too off the rails,
- 31:29Speaker 1: the Bill's lost to Denver, and I just I just
- 31:32Speaker 1: kind of stared into the void, like just staring at
- 31:36Speaker 1: the wall. I like, I just felt so empty again
- 31:41Speaker 1: in a way that I had in a while. Thirteen
- 31:43Speaker 1: seconds kind of killed a lot of my fandom and
- 31:45Speaker 1: crushed my soul and spirit. This one also kind of
- 31:48Speaker 1: got me a bit, just all the turnovers, the way
- 31:50Speaker 1: it ended, you had just blah blah blah. Let's go through.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Are just saying that division of the AFC West is
- 32:04Speaker 1: going to be an absolute nightmare next year to face.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I bet we win against Las Vegas and that's it. Yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 1: watch but watch Las Vegas get like Sean McDermott and
- 32:10Speaker 1: Fernando Mendoza and then go on a run or something crazy.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Um bum bum bum. Michael saying this might ow another
- 32:21Speaker 1: Shannan comment. This might be wild, but what are the
- 32:23Speaker 1: chances Shanahan could be available with the Niners? They have
- 32:26Speaker 1: an aging roster one year left. His dad always got Lway,
- 32:29Speaker 1: his dad got elweyh his Kyle could get it. For Josh,
- 32:32Speaker 1: he would get the respect. I just don't think the
- 32:34Speaker 1: Niners are gonna part ways with Shanahan, especially with all
- 32:37Speaker 1: the injuries this team had this this past year and
- 32:39Speaker 1: they still managed to be a final four team into
- 32:42Speaker 1: the NFC. Yeah, I know it's tough. Joey saying that
- 32:46Speaker 1: Minter would be his top choice. We're going to talk
- 32:48Speaker 1: about mister Jesse Mincher. I always want to say Mike Mincher,
- 32:51Speaker 1: the former safety for the Panthers, but that is not right.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Fair uh comment here from Wiley's saying, I don't think
- 32:58Speaker 1: we know enough just yet. As for the inside politics,
- 33:02Speaker 1: that's fair. There are a lot of inter Even with
- 33:04Speaker 1: things being reported, there's still a lot of inner workings
- 33:07Speaker 1: that we don't know, which will be interesting to kind
- 33:09Speaker 1: of see what happens with the presser tomorrow. Oh, Caleb
- 33:13Speaker 1: saying I really like Brian Flores. Would love him on
- 33:15Speaker 1: the cast, even if it's just a coordinator position. Man.
- 33:18Speaker 1: I love his attack style, defense and the quarters pressures
- 33:20Speaker 1: and everything he does. That would be kind of cool.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But I think he's I don't know. I feel like
- 33:24Speaker 1: people are wary of him because if I was ten
- 33:26Speaker 1: year ended in Miami and just everything that kind of
- 33:28Speaker 1: came about after it. But I said, maybe a month
- 33:31Speaker 1: or so ago, I would not be opposed to Flores.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I just don't think it's likely, but I would not
- 33:34Speaker 1: be opposed to Florus. Jeremy saying Bean saved his job
- 33:38Speaker 1: by getting rid of McDermott. Now Bean's head and ego
- 33:41Speaker 1: will only get bigger. Fair. Yeah, I do think he
- 33:43Speaker 1: kind of politiced a bit and was doing the whispering
- 33:46Speaker 1: in the ear to kind of buddy up to Peoogla
- 33:48Speaker 1: and kind of save himself, which is what it is.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Daniel sam Bean deserved more blame, especially this season, Bob
- 33:58Speaker 1: more of the way it happened. I thought a chain
- 34:00Speaker 1: was needed, but the process left a lot to be
- 34:02Speaker 1: desired being being promoted just reeks. I think it's a
- 34:04Speaker 1: very succinct way to put it. Yeah, I'm not I'm
- 34:07Speaker 1: not completely upset that McDermott got fired. I'm more just
- 34:10Speaker 1: the way it went down and being staying and all
- 34:12Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. Oh hey, Ann, would we be
- 34:16Speaker 1: as mad as we are today about McDermott if he
- 34:18Speaker 1: was let go last year, I don't know. Again, I
- 34:24Speaker 1: think I think a lot of the feelings of people
- 34:26Speaker 1: being mad isn't really because of McDermott being let go.
- 34:29Speaker 1: It's how he was let go and being staying. I
- 34:32Speaker 1: think that's the big point. I don't think a lot
- 34:35Speaker 1: of people are up in arms like, oh McDermott was
- 34:39Speaker 1: an amazing coach. You know, maybe they are a little
- 34:41Speaker 1: bit because the emotion of how frustrated they are. But
- 34:43Speaker 1: I think it's more of how he was let go
- 34:45Speaker 1: and being staying and the optics of it all more
- 34:48Speaker 1: than anything. But that's a tough that's a really good
- 34:52Speaker 1: question though, that's a really good question. Com being common here,
- 34:59Speaker 1: I hated that being stays he gave mcdee a bucket
- 35:01Speaker 1: of rusty screws and striped nuts. Like, if we bring
- 35:03Speaker 1: in a good OC as a head coach, what will
- 35:05Speaker 1: we have to work with. I think Bean's ego is
- 35:08Speaker 1: an issue. I'm a Marty saying I don't mind that
- 35:13Speaker 1: people got fired. I just don't understand how being survived. Also,
- 35:16Speaker 1: their responses took too long.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Another comment here. I think it's a lot more likely
- 35:22Speaker 1: that the Bills do worse than McDermott than better, and
- 35:24Speaker 1: then a shoulder struggle momoji. Yeah, you never know what
- 35:26Speaker 1: you get on the other side, you get a new
- 35:28Speaker 1: head coach. Could be immensely better. You could be a
- 35:30Speaker 1: tiny bit better, you could be even, You could be worse,
- 35:32Speaker 1: you could be way worse. Never know. Life is like
- 35:34Speaker 1: a box of chocolate. Yeah. Comment from Forrest to sleep
- 35:37Speaker 1: the tribute seemed to daylight a dollar short. Yeah, Camp
- 35:42Speaker 1: saying the best guy on the market is McDermott, Just
- 35:45Speaker 1: go get him. Oh good line from Bob Bob saying
- 35:50Speaker 1: admirable is for a fifty to fifty coach, not a
- 35:53Speaker 1: coach who rebuilt the culture. Jason saying it's not a
- 35:58Speaker 1: championship roster like being I'm very concerned about being being
- 36:01Speaker 1: in charge of football operations. Ah, that's fair. Will saying
- 36:08Speaker 1: the interesting thing has been the silence on what Allan
- 36:10Speaker 1: thinks of this. No leaks of either he hated or
- 36:13Speaker 1: this is what he wanted, complete silence. I would imagine
- 36:17Speaker 1: they checked with him. I don't know. I don't try
- 36:19Speaker 1: to speculate too much on that kind of stuff, like
- 36:22Speaker 1: or kind of it. It's so muddy, but I would
- 36:25Speaker 1: imagine they checked with him. I would think maybe not,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I don't know. Com and saying listen to the fire
- 36:34Speaker 1: McDermott crowd and now completely melt down. It's funny to me.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Are j saying they should have came out today and
- 36:40Speaker 1: apologize for how it was all handled. They didn't do that. Yeah,
- 36:46Speaker 1: in this comment here, seriously so embarrassing. I'm just joining.
- 36:49Speaker 1: But the fact that they didn't post McDermott's no either.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:51Speaker 1: The fact that I think Tom Pelsero posted it. That's
- 36:56Speaker 1: where I co tweeted it from. And yeah, I wasn't
- 36:57Speaker 1: on the bill's official page. Really unfortunate. Dan Jeremy saying
- 37:07Speaker 1: nine years and McDermott for that flaky letter with a
- 37:09Speaker 1: slap in the face. Uh yeah, comment here? Is it
- 37:16Speaker 1: not a little scary knowing who's guiding the ship as
- 37:18Speaker 1: the Patriots are Super Bowl bold? I don't even want
- 37:20Speaker 1: to open that door. But yeah, Claude saying mcdee was
- 37:24Speaker 1: consistently out coached, so he could have been fired at
- 37:26Speaker 1: any point after thirteen seconds. But if he's gone, Bean
- 37:29Speaker 1: should definitely be gone. He failed the cap, draft and
- 37:32Speaker 1: free agency. He failed Josh and McDermott very succinctly put.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I think that is a very fair comment and kind
- 37:39Speaker 1: of where my mind is at as well. Like McDermot
- 37:42Speaker 1: could have been gone at any point. I do think
- 37:43Speaker 1: he got out coached in a bunch of ways and
- 37:46Speaker 1: or didn't kind of mitigate things as much as he
- 37:48Speaker 1: could have as he could have at times. But yeah,
- 37:51Speaker 1: if he's gone, Bean should also be gone, and especially
- 37:53Speaker 1: this season, having this season to be the one where
- 37:55Speaker 1: I felt like they had a lot of injuries and
- 37:57Speaker 1: cobbled stuff together and be McDermott still made to do
- 38:00Speaker 1: some good things even though he still has bad things.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Like always again, it's it's such a messy ball. But
- 38:05Speaker 1: I think that's that's fair. It's a fair way to
- 38:06Speaker 1: kind of put it all. Charles saying, yeah, with being
- 38:09Speaker 1: getting promoted, does his name a GM. If so, Terrence
- 38:12Speaker 1: Gray had some overlap of Kubiak and Minnesota. Yeah, we
- 38:14Speaker 1: talked about that on the show yesterday. I do think
- 38:17Speaker 1: it's gonna end up being my thoughts being as president
- 38:21Speaker 1: of Football Operations. And then after after the draft it
- 38:23Speaker 1: becomes official where Terrence Gray or Brian Gain or somebody
- 38:26Speaker 1: is named the GM. But then again, like, are they
- 38:30Speaker 1: really the GM is more just a shadow position and
- 38:33Speaker 1: they're really just doing the bidding of Bean, and Bean
- 38:35Speaker 1: is still pulling the strings and running the show. That's
- 38:38Speaker 1: my bigger thing. Like if it's an internal hire, especially
- 38:40Speaker 1: one that was brought in by Bean and developed under
- 38:42Speaker 1: Bean and spent a lot of time with Bean, you're
- 38:46Speaker 1: it's still Braindon Bean one because he's still here. Two,
- 38:49Speaker 1: he's still the big boss who the GM is reporting.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Two Three it's still a guy from his tree. So
- 38:55Speaker 1: it's still Braindon Bean. Even if they bring in another
- 38:58Speaker 1: GM and it's internal, Are they name a GM and
- 39:01Speaker 1: it's internal? To me, it's still braining be Daniel saying,
- 39:06Speaker 1: how do you put together the Bills week bottofy wide
- 39:08Speaker 1: receiver group but once again have a D line with
- 39:09Speaker 1: almost no pass rush and bad against the run and
- 39:11Speaker 1: get a promotion? Get a promotions at all caps no
- 39:15Speaker 1: offensive weapons, no defensive weapons and yeah, and then it
- 39:17Speaker 1: was funny too to see the report from Ian Rapaport
- 39:20Speaker 1: on NFL Network yesterday where he was talking about, you know, like,
- 39:23Speaker 1: oh McDermott, you know is done well, but it's time
- 39:26Speaker 1: for him to go. You know. He mentioned how the Bills.
- 39:30Speaker 1: This Bill's team with so many weapons, and how teams
- 39:32Speaker 1: around the league veiled that view them as being stocked
- 39:34Speaker 1: full of talent, and it was like, okay, yeah, okay, okay, what.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Oh nice, Bob says, the Savers are up four to
- 39:48Speaker 1: Oh that's very good to know. I'm recording that game,
- 39:50Speaker 1: so I'm excited to go and watch that. That's nice too.
- 39:52Speaker 1: They're gonna put up all the goals that they can
- 39:54Speaker 1: uh engage, saying, God, please give me anutside linebacker get
- 40:00Speaker 1: to the QB in the playoffs. I am scrolling through
- 40:03Speaker 1: comments as we are going through, Well, I appreciate everyone.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I appreciate everyone's for being in here, and if you're
- 40:09Speaker 1: willing and able, please and thank you drop alke on
- 40:11Speaker 1: this video. Likes go a long way. But I'm also
- 40:14Speaker 1: kind of saying that as I scroll through and read,
- 40:16Speaker 1: because I'm looking it's really it's nine forty two real time.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I'm at nine to twenty in the comments, So it's awesome.
- 40:21Speaker 1: How many people we have in here, live over four
- 40:23Speaker 1: hundred people, that's super cool. And all the comments are
- 40:26Speaker 1: coming through, like I really wish I could just sit
- 40:28Speaker 1: and read every single one apologies if I don't. There's
- 40:32Speaker 1: so many comments. Everybody's crushing it tonight. I appreciate everyone.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Ah William coming through worm worm tongue and theadan. Oh okay,
- 40:40Speaker 1: I was right, thedan, okay, cool king theadan, yep, all
- 40:43Speaker 1: right cool. I was there and it was warm toung
- 40:45Speaker 1: alright cool. But yeah, now I'm at nine twenty two
- 40:47Speaker 1: in the comments, so I'm trying. There's a lot of comments.
- 40:49Speaker 1: You guys are absolutely crushing it. Guys and girls, whoever's there,
- 40:57Speaker 1: in all fairness of this one, so this comment Von
- 40:58Speaker 1: Miller was the death blow. He was supposed to get
- 41:00Speaker 1: us over the thirteen second hump, and all fairness with that,
- 41:04Speaker 1: I think von Miller did deliver. He just tore his
- 41:06Speaker 1: acl like. I thought that was a good signing. He
- 41:08Speaker 1: was every bit the closer he was supposed to be.
- 41:10Speaker 1: He just got hurt, which is unfortunate. Yeah, comment here,
- 41:14Speaker 1: are you superstitious about predicting a head coach like giving
- 41:16Speaker 1: a score prediction? Do you think not getting over the
- 41:18Speaker 1: hump is fifty to fifty McBean or one is more
- 41:21Speaker 1: to blame? I am superstitious about predicting a head coach
- 41:24Speaker 1: like a score prediction. Thank you very much for knowing me. Do.
- 41:27Speaker 1: I think not getting over the hump is fifty to
- 41:29Speaker 1: fifty for me. It's tough because I don't know how
- 41:33Speaker 1: much of the roster construction and roster building was Bean
- 41:38Speaker 1: or McDermott or both in conjunction with one another, Like
- 41:41Speaker 1: I don't know how much ko Key on Coleman, for example,
- 41:45Speaker 1: did both of them think that was a great pick?
- 41:47Speaker 1: Or did Bean think it was great? Or did McDermott
- 41:49Speaker 1: think it was great? Like which moves did each one
- 41:52Speaker 1: pound the table? For which moves? Did they both pound
- 41:54Speaker 1: the table? For? You know, how much was McDermott involved
- 41:59Speaker 1: in any kind of extension moves or free agent dollars
- 42:03Speaker 1: and cap structure? You would think that most of that
- 42:05Speaker 1: is all being how much did they really talk? Obviously
- 42:08Speaker 1: there's obviously there's overlap. Obviously there's collaboration, And that's my
- 42:11Speaker 1: whole thing. Like it's so muddy. Both of their hands
- 42:13Speaker 1: are bloody, they're both culpable. I think not getting over
- 42:18Speaker 1: the hump for me, just because I have questions about
- 42:20Speaker 1: the roster and the on field stuff both. I think
- 42:23Speaker 1: it's fifty to fifty just based off of what. I
- 42:26Speaker 1: believe their roles and relationship to be equally having successes,
- 42:30Speaker 1: equally having failures shortcomings. I think maybe you could push
- 42:33Speaker 1: into fifty five forty five one way or the other,
- 42:36Speaker 1: and I wouldn't fight you. You can Devil's advocate that
- 42:38Speaker 1: a good chunk. But I think it's pretty close to
- 42:40Speaker 1: fifty to fifty, which again is where a lot of
- 42:42Speaker 1: my frustration comes from, because I even if it's fifty
- 42:45Speaker 1: five to forty five, that's still pretty close. Even if
- 42:48Speaker 1: it's sixty forty again, and I don't think I don't
- 42:50Speaker 1: think it goes past sixty forty, Like that's at the
- 42:52Speaker 1: highest whether you think it's sixty forty McDermott or sixty
- 42:55Speaker 1: forty bean, that's at the high end of it. For me.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I just think they're that culpable kind of equally mhmm
- 43:07Speaker 1: b b ba yep. VN was doing awesome until he
- 43:10Speaker 1: got hurt.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Bye ba ba Yeah, okay, okay, okay, wow man, you guys.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Everybody's crushing it all right, So I'm going to scrolling through.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Scrolling through, I just saw this comment in all caps.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I didn't know you can trade pricks for a head coach.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Ah will with cool comment Shula siel Ha house package
- 43:37Speaker 1: deal my mind. We're going to talk about that. We
- 43:40Speaker 1: are going to talk about that, all right. I'm gonna
- 43:43Speaker 1: start to move into some of these head coaching candidates.
- 43:48Speaker 1: If there's something I did not get to, I am now, wow,
- 43:54Speaker 1: you have no idea how much I've just been scrolling, scrolling,
- 43:56Speaker 1: scrolling to finally get to kind of where we are. Oh,
- 43:58Speaker 1: in fair common here from James. It just came. It'll
- 44:00Speaker 1: be interesting to see who replaces Aaron Kromer. I keep
- 44:02Speaker 1: forgetting Aaron Kromer retired and he's been a huge part
- 44:04Speaker 1: of success for this team. Things are kind of just
- 44:07Speaker 1: falling all over. Uh. Yeah. If there's something I did
- 44:13Speaker 1: not get to that you commented, feel free to put
- 44:15Speaker 1: it up into the chat again. I'll see it as
- 44:16Speaker 1: I can get to kind of go from there. If
- 44:19Speaker 1: there's something you really want to get at me, get
- 44:21Speaker 1: at me on Twitter at pro underscore underscore an, get
- 44:24Speaker 1: at me on Blue Sky at pro ant no one
- 44:26Speaker 1: to scores there, just pro o A and T tweet
- 44:28Speaker 1: at me, blue Sky, post at me, dm me whatever.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Get at me in the discord if you're a Discord member,
- 44:34Speaker 1: If you're one of the insiders for the cover one stuff.
- 44:38Speaker 1: If you again, there were so many comments if I
- 44:41Speaker 1: feel terrible, but if I went through every single comment,
- 44:43Speaker 1: we're going to be here until like one am, which
- 44:45Speaker 1: we kind of could do. But yeah, and again I
- 44:48Speaker 1: appreciate everybody coming in. These comments have been awesome. I
- 44:50Speaker 1: just want to sit. Honestly, I shouldn't have even prepared
- 44:52Speaker 1: a head coach. Think we should have just had a
- 44:53Speaker 1: whole live chat session on the McDermott firing and being
- 44:57Speaker 1: promotion and gone from there. I like that there was
- 45:01Speaker 1: a comment I wanted to get to from Forrest's Lee,
- 45:06Speaker 1: what do you think of the medical reports and how
- 45:07Speaker 1: that was handled. I did think this was interesting. I
- 45:09Speaker 1: think McDermott said all that stuff funneled into Bean, which
- 45:14Speaker 1: was why when he was asked about injury stuff, he
- 45:16Speaker 1: was kind of just being like, oh, what I'm told
- 45:18Speaker 1: or what I think, Like he didn't really know. I
- 45:20Speaker 1: think that's terrible, Like he should have an equal hand
- 45:23Speaker 1: in that he should know the injury status and injury
- 45:25Speaker 1: report status for his players and for his team. Again,
- 45:28Speaker 1: just messy, messy, messy, messy, messy, messy, messy, messy, messy.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Thank you very much, Brian for being here and for
- 45:38Speaker 1: your super chat. I'm assuming you or maybe you just
- 45:41Speaker 1: wanted to give out of the kindness of your heart,
- 45:43Speaker 1: but maybe you had a question or a thought that
- 45:45Speaker 1: went with a super chat. If you did, you don't
- 45:47Speaker 1: have to give another super chat. Just put your next
- 45:49Speaker 1: comment into the chat and I'll read it because I'll
- 45:52Speaker 1: assume that that was the one that was supposed to
- 45:53Speaker 1: come with the super chat. Or if you just wanted
- 45:54Speaker 1: to give a super chat, I'll take it and I
- 45:56Speaker 1: appreciate it. Thank you very much. This is a good comment.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Jose Do you think Josh Allen has so much scar
- 46:03Speaker 1: tissue when it comes to gut wrenching losses that it's
- 46:05Speaker 1: going to affect him heavily the rest of his career
- 46:07Speaker 1: in the playoffs? Yes, I think there's something to be
- 46:11Speaker 1: said for not even just Alan in general. I think
- 46:16Speaker 1: there's something to be said for building scar tissue and
- 46:19Speaker 1: having wounds, and you know, building calluses all these kind
- 46:22Speaker 1: of proverbials and how it toughens you and hardens you
- 46:25Speaker 1: and gets you experience and all that kind of stuff. Right,
- 46:27Speaker 1: I do think there's a certain point where it jumps
- 46:32Speaker 1: the shark a bit, and then it becomes more of
- 46:36Speaker 1: a hindrance than it does, like a character building type
- 46:39Speaker 1: of moment. I don't know what that is for everybody.
- 46:41Speaker 1: It's different for everybody, for teams, for individuals, all that
- 46:44Speaker 1: kind of stuff. Oh, thank you, Brian, I appreciate it.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Brian said, not just a tip, just a tip, nothing
- 46:49Speaker 1: at a smiley face. I appreciate you, Brian. I think
- 46:51Speaker 1: you're very much. Yeah. I think at a certain point,
- 46:55Speaker 1: all that scar tissue and all that losing, you know,
- 46:58Speaker 1: I think it gets to a point where it's like
- 47:00Speaker 1: character Bill's character, Bill's character, Bill's character, and then you
- 47:03Speaker 1: start to go down the roller coaster as opposed to
- 47:05Speaker 1: keep going up and ascending. At a certain point, it
- 47:08Speaker 1: breaks you, I think, you know, to someone else's point though,
- 47:12Speaker 1: who came in and said it. You know Lway, you
- 47:16Speaker 1: know this comment from from Steve Elway lost multiple super
- 47:18Speaker 1: Bowls and got through it. Steve Young, you know, had
- 47:21Speaker 1: a bunch of challenges. You know, takes over from Montana.
- 47:24Speaker 1: He has the famous you know, wins the super Bowl
- 47:26Speaker 1: and then he's like, you know, take this monkey off
- 47:28Speaker 1: my back. You know, he was feeling so much pressure
- 47:30Speaker 1: for that franchise, So there there is ways to get
- 47:33Speaker 1: it done right eventually. But I also think too, just
- 47:37Speaker 1: in general, like it's so hard to win a championship
- 47:39Speaker 1: in any sport, Like you have to be good and
- 47:40Speaker 1: you have to have luck on your side, like the
- 47:42Speaker 1: stars really do have to align for any team to
- 47:44Speaker 1: win a Super Bowl, in a championship in any sport,
- 47:48Speaker 1: and even get even with this Bills team not to
- 47:50Speaker 1: kind of get to you know, focus in or hone
- 47:52Speaker 1: in on the Broncos game. Five turnovers right, some poor
- 47:56Speaker 1: throws and decisions from Allen, right, you know, giveaways that
- 48:01Speaker 1: get led directly to points for the Broncos, missed opportunities
- 48:04Speaker 1: and capitalizations, multiple you know, muddy calls from the raft,
- 48:08Speaker 1: and they still lost by three in overtime, even with
- 48:11Speaker 1: all these things going wrong, even with the roster not
- 48:14Speaker 1: having a bunch of studs or dudes on it, even
- 48:16Speaker 1: with all the injuries and all the poor performances in games,
- 48:20Speaker 1: and as limited as McDermot or Bean might be or
- 48:23Speaker 1: Babbitte or Brady or whoever, they barely lost in this game.
- 48:27Speaker 1: And I know this isn't like you know, close only
- 48:29Speaker 1: counts and horseshes and grenades. I know that this isn't
- 48:32Speaker 1: a silver lining type of deal, but think about how
- 48:34Speaker 1: all these things went wrong or not even put in
- 48:38Speaker 1: an air quotes did go wrong, and they just barely
- 48:40Speaker 1: lost like they could easily be in the AFC Championship
- 48:43Speaker 1: this week, which is what makes this loss even more
- 48:45Speaker 1: painful and more hurtful. You never know, just takes a
- 48:49Speaker 1: couple of bounces going your way. But I do think
- 48:52Speaker 1: the good teams figure out the way to make the
- 48:53Speaker 1: ball bounce in their favor more often than not. But yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 1: that Allen piece, who knows. Maybe it scars him too much.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Maybe it's some of the sticks in his head and
- 49:01Speaker 1: every time he gets into the playoffs, it's in the
- 49:02Speaker 1: back of his mind and he presses a little too much.
- 49:05Speaker 4: You know.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Well we'll kind of see a little bit. But uh yeah,
- 49:09Speaker 1: I do think. I do think it's something that eventually
- 49:11Speaker 1: you have so much scar tissue. Eventually you jump the
- 49:14Speaker 1: shark and you start to you start to go downhill
- 49:16Speaker 1: for it, and it's it's instead of old building, character building,
- 49:18Speaker 1: character building character eventually it kind of guts you. I
- 49:22Speaker 1: just think that's just human nature. It's got to it's
- 49:24Speaker 1: hard to just constantly get kicked in the teeth over
- 49:27Speaker 1: and over again and keep coming back for more. It's tough,
- 49:32Speaker 1: very tough. All right. Now, we're gonna dive into some
- 49:37Speaker 1: head coach candidate stuff. I wanted to as I say this,
- 49:45Speaker 1: Oh I forget there was a you know, if somebody
- 49:47Speaker 1: in the chant wants to do me a huge solid.
- 49:50Speaker 1: There was multiple people will put out like tweets of
- 49:53Speaker 1: like the Bills head coaching odds. Not that that necessarily
- 49:55Speaker 1: matters like completely, you know, because the betting sites are
- 49:58Speaker 1: betting sites and individual people or individual people like whatever.
- 50:01Speaker 1: But there's some interesting names on those lists. I was
- 50:03Speaker 1: gonna reference it a little bit, but the first name
- 50:06Speaker 1: we're going to start with here, it's Seattle Seahawks offensive
- 50:09Speaker 1: coordinator Clint Kubiak. Jeremy White of w g R tweeted
- 50:14Speaker 1: yesterday something to the tune of, you know a little
- 50:16Speaker 1: birdie who you know, the same little birdie who told
- 50:19Speaker 1: him Sean McDermott was gonna get fired. That same little
- 50:21Speaker 1: birdie told him like that move was made with Clint
- 50:24Speaker 1: Kubiak in mind. So Clint Kubiak, that's the one who
- 50:27Speaker 1: are gonna lead off with someone who I like. I
- 50:30Speaker 1: mentioned him early in the season, maybe like octoberish in
- 50:34Speaker 1: terms of what I like they were doing. And I
- 50:37Speaker 1: like this comment here from any Trail boss saying my
- 50:40Speaker 1: favorite was solid, but that's not happening. I also I
- 50:43Speaker 1: also liked Robert Sala. I think he got a raw
- 50:46Speaker 1: deal in New York. I think he's a good defensive mind.
- 50:49Speaker 1: I think he's able to kind of, you know, mold
- 50:52Speaker 1: with his players and what's available. But he's gone. So yeah,
- 50:57Speaker 1: Clint Kubiak, offensive coordinat Seattle Seahawks, somebody who has been
- 51:02Speaker 1: you know, the odds are in his favor from the
- 51:05Speaker 1: betting sites of being the next potential Bills head coach.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I think it's multiple sites with him as like the
- 51:08Speaker 1: best betting odds. Again, I'm not putting that out there
- 51:10Speaker 1: as like, so that's why I think he's gonna be
- 51:12Speaker 1: the coach. I just think that's interesting. But yeah, that
- 51:13Speaker 1: Jeremy White note I think was really really really interesting
- 51:17Speaker 1: for those who don't know, kind of go to his
- 51:19Speaker 1: last stops. Twenty nineteen to twenty twenty, he was the
- 51:22Speaker 1: Vikings QB coach. He was the Vikings offensive coordinator in
- 51:25Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. He was then the pass game coordinator
- 51:28Speaker 1: and quarterbacks coach for the Broncos in twenty twenty two,
- 51:31Speaker 1: the Niners passing game coordinator in twenty twenty three, the
- 51:35Speaker 1: Saints offensive coordinator in twenty twenty four, and then the
- 51:38Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks coordinator here this year in twenty twenty five.
- 51:44Speaker 1: I've watched a ton of Seahawks tape this year, offensively
- 51:49Speaker 1: and defensively, because I like what they do offensively and
- 51:51Speaker 1: I like what they do defensively. Plus I like a
- 51:53Speaker 1: lot of dudes that they have. I love Kenneth Walker
- 51:56Speaker 1: coming out of the draft. JSN obviously is a monster,
- 51:59Speaker 1: but Zach Sharp, he's a cool running back. Sucks that
- 52:01Speaker 1: he tore his a cl but they got some cool
- 52:02Speaker 1: offensive linemen and then defensively, just a bunch of dudes
- 52:06Speaker 1: in a really cool scheme. So I watched a bunch
- 52:10Speaker 1: of Seahawks tape this year and kind of in in October,
- 52:16Speaker 1: like it was kind of floated. Something on the show
- 52:17Speaker 1: was like, Oh, you know, who's the name that you
- 52:19Speaker 1: would you know, look out for if Sean mcdermock got fired,
- 52:20Speaker 1: if you had to pick an offensive guy. I was like, oh,
- 52:22Speaker 1: Klink Kumbyak would be kind of cool, young up and
- 52:24Speaker 1: coming offensive mine talk about some pros and cons for him.
- 52:28Speaker 1: So pros he comes from that Shanahan offense. I think
- 52:32Speaker 1: that's a pro because of how successful it is, how
- 52:35Speaker 1: CB friendly it is, and again very much in that
- 52:38Speaker 1: Shanahan mold, which honestly is tied to his dad, Gary
- 52:42Speaker 1: Kubiak working with you know, Shanahan's dad, Mike Shanahan, and
- 52:46Speaker 1: how they were on lockstep with everything. So it was
- 52:48Speaker 1: kind of you know, chicken and egg thing. But Clint Kubiak,
- 52:52Speaker 1: you know Shanahan offense formational and personnel manipulation and dictating
- 52:57Speaker 1: to a defense. So you are using condensed formations, You're
- 53:00Speaker 1: using tight ends, full backs, all that kind of stuff
- 53:03Speaker 1: to kind of force defenses into looks that you want
- 53:06Speaker 1: and then using whatever they do against them. If they
- 53:09Speaker 1: don't match the heavies, you're running it down their throat.
- 53:11Speaker 1: If they do match the heavies, your heavies are still
- 53:13Speaker 1: a bit athletic, and so you could use that to
- 53:17Speaker 1: generate some explosives. Jason says, with the Kubiak scheme be
- 53:20Speaker 1: good for James Cook. I do think, so, you know,
- 53:23Speaker 1: Kubiak Shanahan all that type of deal outside zone. You know,
- 53:28Speaker 1: tack ties back to the Alex Gibbs Mike Shanahan days.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Everything is outside zone. A lot of zone running that
- 53:33Speaker 1: pairs well with the bootlegs and the play action. I
- 53:36Speaker 1: think Kubiak also does a really good job of marrying
- 53:39Speaker 1: the run in the past, as most Shanahan you know
- 53:42Speaker 1: disciples do. But yeah, James Cook at Georgia was great
- 53:48Speaker 1: as a zone runner and that's really what he was
- 53:50Speaker 1: coming coming out and coming into Buffalo, him progressing as
- 53:54Speaker 1: a gap scheme runner. So all the you know, the
- 53:56Speaker 1: blast counter stuff this year or the tackle poll stuff
- 54:00Speaker 1: that is, you know, whether it's you know tackle you know,
- 54:04Speaker 1: wrapping through or it's the long trap type of stuff
- 54:06Speaker 1: where they're kicking out the edge. That's a gap scheme run. Technically,
- 54:09Speaker 1: Duo is a gap scheme run. It's power without a puller,
- 54:12Speaker 1: but it kind of has some zone principles to it
- 54:14Speaker 1: from a track perspective. But yeah, I think James Cook
- 54:16Speaker 1: would excel in his zone scheme. You know, think of
- 54:18Speaker 1: all those mid zone runs, you know, mid zone week
- 54:22Speaker 1: where you know there's like three guys over here to
- 54:24Speaker 1: the right side of the line and they run to
- 54:26Speaker 1: the left and Cook bends it back. You know, whether
- 54:28Speaker 1: it's a one cut or a two cut, he cuts
- 54:30Speaker 1: it all the way back and bends it. Yeah, I
- 54:33Speaker 1: think he would be uh successful h in that scheme
- 54:36Speaker 1: one thousand percent. So yeah, Shanahan or not shannaan kubiakmar
- 54:41Speaker 1: I don't want to say formational and personnel manipulation and dictation,
- 54:44Speaker 1: Like I talked about heavy personnel to generate explosives, you know,
- 54:47Speaker 1: going heavy to go, play action and take shots down
- 54:50Speaker 1: the field, especially on early downs. Outside zone, marrying the
- 54:54Speaker 1: run in the past, building counters off of that outside
- 54:57Speaker 1: zone again, a lot of times in the forms of
- 54:59Speaker 1: play action marrying the run in the past, a lot
- 55:01Speaker 1: of bootlegs, getting the quarterback on the move. Think of
- 55:04Speaker 1: what Kyle Shanahan does with Brock Perdy, Think of what
- 55:06Speaker 1: Klint Kubiak has done with Sam Darnold. All the play
- 55:09Speaker 1: action stuff under center, run game under center, play action,
- 55:13Speaker 1: marrying those two, getting your quarterback on the move, layered
- 55:17Speaker 1: passing concepts right into flood zones and create high lows
- 55:21Speaker 1: and put defenders in conflict. Good stuff there. The biggest
- 55:25Speaker 1: question for me is you know, he doesn't have head
- 55:29Speaker 1: coaching experience. He's been an offensive coordinator three times, you know,
- 55:33Speaker 1: once in Minnesota again in twenty twenty one, in New
- 55:37Speaker 1: Orleans last year in twenty twenty four, and then Seattle
- 55:39Speaker 1: this past season in twenty twenty five. So each time
- 55:41Speaker 1: he's been an offensive coordinator, he went somewhere else after.
- 55:45Speaker 1: I believe for regime changes each time. So in Minnesota,
- 55:48Speaker 1: you know, some Minnesota is the OC in twenty twenty one,
- 55:50Speaker 1: then he's in Denver, he's the Saints OC last year.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Now he's in Seattle. So you don't really necessarily know
- 55:57Speaker 1: what's he going to be like year after you're building, developing, teaching,
- 56:03Speaker 1: how sustainable everything is? Right? Can he develop players? Can
- 56:07Speaker 1: he build and layer and grow a scheme along with
- 56:09Speaker 1: the players and or the players? Also? Can he manage
- 56:13Speaker 1: a team as a people manager like a coach needs
- 56:16Speaker 1: to do. I think that's something gets lost in the
- 56:18Speaker 1: sauce a lot when you think about what a coach is.
- 56:25Speaker 1: You know so much against me, especially right like I
- 56:27Speaker 1: watch a ton of tape and all that stuff. Everything
- 56:29Speaker 1: for me is x's and o's scheme and structure. But
- 56:32Speaker 1: there's still like a people manager element to being a
- 56:35Speaker 1: head coach, a coordinator in general position coach as well,
- 56:38Speaker 1: but especially a head coach. You have to be a
- 56:40Speaker 1: people manager. You got to know your ex's and o's,
- 56:42Speaker 1: but you also have to be a people manager. And
- 56:45Speaker 1: some guys lean one way or the other. Right, Some
- 56:47Speaker 1: guys are heavy x's and o's and they're so great
- 56:49Speaker 1: at it that nothing else matters. Some guys are such
- 56:52Speaker 1: great people managers and they let the x's and o's
- 56:55Speaker 1: guys take care of everything, or they're able to identify
- 56:57Speaker 1: those guys and go from there. But we don't know,
- 57:01Speaker 1: you know, can he manage a team? I also just
- 57:04Speaker 1: from the vibes of him, like as where he's been
- 57:07Speaker 1: and like what his dad was like to like and
- 57:09Speaker 1: just in general, we don't know. Is he the type
- 57:11Speaker 1: of guy who's like your quote unquote like leader of men?
- 57:13Speaker 1: Is he the type of person that commands people's attention?
- 57:17Speaker 1: Is he that people leader? Does he have it in him?
- 57:20Speaker 1: We don't know. So those are the biggest cons for me.
- 57:22Speaker 1: You know, one just not having a head coaching experience. Two,
- 57:25Speaker 1: you know, what does he offer as like a you know,
- 57:27Speaker 1: leader and commander? Two And then three, Yeah, you know,
- 57:31Speaker 1: he's at a different stop every year, Like, we don't
- 57:33Speaker 1: know what year two of that Vikings offense would have
- 57:35Speaker 1: looked like, or you're two of the Saints offense, or
- 57:37Speaker 1: you know, maybe we don't know what year two of
- 57:39Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks. I don't know why I said it,
- 57:41Speaker 1: like that, what year two of the Seahawks offense will
- 57:43Speaker 1: look like if he leaves and goes to Buffalo or
- 57:45Speaker 1: go someone else, And just Chris says here, we need
- 57:48Speaker 1: someone who's been a head coach before. I think it's
- 57:50Speaker 1: a fair point. You know, you especially now you know,
- 57:55Speaker 1: to write the ship. Do you want someone who's shown
- 57:57Speaker 1: the ability to write the ship or steer the ship before?
- 57:59Speaker 1: Or also kind of playing into that, knowing Bean is
- 58:04Speaker 1: running the ship as the president of football operations and
- 58:06Speaker 1: everything is funneling up to him, does it make it
- 58:09Speaker 1: more likely that you do get a first time head
- 58:12Speaker 1: coach because it's somebody who doesn't necessarily know the ways
- 58:15Speaker 1: of the world and is more comfortable. Would Kubiak be
- 58:18Speaker 1: more comfortable coming in and taking this job than, you know,
- 58:22Speaker 1: than Robert Salah would have because sala is, like, you
- 58:24Speaker 1: know what I've done this before. I don't need to
- 58:27Speaker 1: report to this guy in this manner. I don't need
- 58:29Speaker 1: this type of structure, so on and so forth. Does
- 58:32Speaker 1: an unproving guy like Kubiak say, you know what, Yeah,
- 58:35Speaker 1: like I would like somebody to kind of oversee everything
- 58:37Speaker 1: so I can focus on the x's and so on
- 58:39Speaker 1: and so forth. But I think that's a fair point.
- 58:44Speaker 1: This comment. Kubiak would be a great admiral. Well done,
- 58:50Speaker 1: well done overall, I do like kling Kubiak. He I
- 58:55Speaker 1: also want to say this too, I think the Bills
- 58:56Speaker 1: go offense with their head coach. I think they go
- 59:00Speaker 1: in that vein of the Andy Reid, Zach Taylor, Sean McVay,
- 59:05Speaker 1: shanahan type of deal where their head coach is, the
- 59:09Speaker 1: offensive coordinator is the play caller. Whoever their offensive coordinator
- 59:13Speaker 1: is is really just kind of funneling into him. I think.
- 59:18Speaker 1: I do think they lean offense. Whoever they go with
- 59:21Speaker 1: in this coaching cycle, I do think they lean offense.
- 59:25Speaker 1: I think Kubiak makes a lot of sense for them.
- 59:27Speaker 1: I also think from a personnel standpoint, he fits a
- 59:29Speaker 1: lot with what they do, especially with what he's done
- 59:32Speaker 1: this year. Multiple tight end looks heavy personnel under center
- 59:36Speaker 1: I formation type of stuff like, it would be a
- 59:39Speaker 1: pretty seamless transition with the personnel they already have. Offensively,
- 59:43Speaker 1: it wouldn't be something where you know, you're not really
- 59:45Speaker 1: gonna see his offense until year two or three because
- 59:48Speaker 1: they have to gut everything that they have and they
- 59:50Speaker 1: got to bring in the right body types or the
- 59:51Speaker 1: right skill sets. So yeah, I think I do think
- 59:56Speaker 1: they lean offense. I think Kubiak makes a lot of
- 59:58Speaker 1: sense with how they're already built. And yeah, I think
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I think the Bills kind of we're seeing that a lot. Right,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: A lot of teams are just going in the offensive
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: mind direction as they have the you know, really for
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: a while in terms of going with that, And again,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I do think it makes sense for the Bills because
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: you also think if you're going with a defensive head coach,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: although I personally like that as well, if you go
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: to the defensive head coach, you're probably thinking, you know,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: if Allen does his thing in the offense, does this thing,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: your offensive coordinator is probably getting turned out every two
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: to forty years because teams are gonna be like, wow,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: that offense looks great, let's pluck that guy and then
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you constantly have to change the offensive coordinator, Whereas if
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: you have an offensive coordinator head coach who's running the
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: who's running the place and running the show on that
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: side of the ball, you don't have to necessarily do
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: that as much, and maybe you don't worry about your
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: defensive coordinator getting plucked as much from there. But yeah,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I like Kubiak. I've liked him for a while. I
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: watched a ton of Seahawks tape this year. I like
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: the Shanahan tree. I want to piece that Shanahan tree
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: in Buffalo. It's part of why I wanted Mike McDaniel
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: as the Bill's OC. So yeah, this next one, Chris
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Shula defensive coordinator, Los Angeles Rams. I want to say this.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: I do think Kubiak is my oh old non. We
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: got another super chat. Thank you very much for beinger
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: thinking for the super Chat. The comments is Philip Rivers
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: just saying I appreciate you, I appreciate you. You want Philip
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Rivers' is like head coach. I kind of don't hate it.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: He's so fiery, and you know, he knows, he knows,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: he's a people leader. He's got like seventy five kids,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: and he knows how to write the ship there. That's funny.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I don't know how serious you are now with him,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: but that's kind of funny. I like that, Chris Shula.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: I want to say this is as far as an
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: individual and not thinking of whoever else comes with him. Granted,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: like maybe Clink Kubiak brings again the defensive coordinator from
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Seattle whose name my butcher all the time. Maybe he
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: brings him just in saying the Bills can't hire a Shula. Yeah,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: it's in the league bylaws. That's fair. Yeah, Krishula is
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: the grandson of a legendary Dolphins head coach Shula, so
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: you know fair enough there. That's funny. So who knows
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: who Kubiak brings with him as his defensive coordinator? You know,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: maybe he likes Babbage and he keeps him. But I
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: would assume he would bring Seattle Seahawks defensive staff with him,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: which is cool. Could you get some of that McDonald
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: tree potentially in your building in your defense which would
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: be awesome, although McDonald is really the straw that stirs
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: the drink and a lot of the horses that they have.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: But we would see who Kubiak would bring in what
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I really like about Chris Sula, and I like some
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: things about him individually, but part of what my perfect
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: storm is with Chrishula is if he were so he's
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: the defensive coordinator for the Rams, if he were to
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: come in and be your head coach, my hope and pairing,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: and this is like my one B to Kubiak being
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: the one A, especially now that salas off the board.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: If Shula came in as the head coach, and then ah,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: it's pronounced dirty Okay, So that is the last name
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: pronunciation of the Sea oxens acordator. I've heard it multiple times,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: and I never know what source to trust, even like
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: some team based interviews will kind of get it wrong
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: initially and then I'm like, oh, how do I want to
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: go around? So thank you very much for that. I
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: appreciate you, and also I'm gonna put my faith in
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you and trust that you're right, because as far as
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I know, you could be completely making it up and
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: you might be wrong yourself, but I'm gonna trust you
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: and I appreciate you. Yeah, So maybe Kubiak brings Dirty
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: in with him, the defensive coordinator from Seattle, But My
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: thought with the Rams is Chris Shula comes in right
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: defensive coordinator from the Rams, he's your head coach. Then
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: offensive coordinator I'm hoping would be Nate Shieldhause, who is
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: the passing game coordinator for the Rams right now McVeigh
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: student Tree disciple doing all the drawings and mockups and
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: everything that Liam Cohen was doing a couple of years ago,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: and all that stuff. I've mentioned she Ass's name for
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: a while. It got actually mentioned, got first brought up
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: in the chat. I forget who and if whoever's watching it.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: If you're here and you were that person, let me
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: know I might recognize the handle. Somebody brought up Shieldhouse
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: back in like October or November here on the show
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: when I was talking about Kubiak, and I was and
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I remembered him at Ohio State, and I forgot that
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: he was the pass game coordinator with the Rams and
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: with McVeigh. So he's not a full o. See, And
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: I think that makes a lot of logistical sense, like
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: it would be cool, but I also think it's realistic.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Like Shula comes over, he's probably going to bring somebody
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: from that RAMS staff. I don't think he's going to
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: take Michael Fleurr, who's the current offensive coordinator with the Rams, right,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: you would take somebody else, So you would take like
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: the quarterbacks coach or the wide receivers coach, or the
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: passing game coordinator who is shiel House. That would be
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: pretty sweet. So I would take Chris Shula as the
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: head coach. He runs the defensive side, and then Nate
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Schelhouse is your offensive coordinator, who I really like. That
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: goes back to was Iowa State days, which is what
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: I really remembered him. And then once I realized he
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: was at the RAMS these past couple of years, I
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, I like it even more now. Again,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: what we talked about a couple of minutes ago, this
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: means in theory right, like because Shielhaus also got interviewed
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: by the Ravens for a head coaching position last week,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: and again he's just a passing game coordinator with the Rams.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: So that shows you what kind of how he's thought
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: about in the league circles. That he's a passing game
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: coordinator a couple of years ago, was the you know,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: the Iowa State offensive coordinator, and now he's sitting there
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: kind of getting head coaching interview spots as a thirty
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: five year old. Again, even just going back through so
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: at Iowa State, starting in twenty eighteen, running backs coach,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: wide receivers coach, running game coordinator, slash running backs and
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: wide receivers coach. Then in twenty twenty three he was
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: the OC and the QB coach. Then twenty twenty four
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: he goes to the Rams offensive assistant and pass game specialist.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Then this past year he was the past he's been
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: the pass game coordinator for the Rams. That just shows
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: you how highly thought of he is that he doesn't
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: necessarily have this stocked out resume and he got a
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: head coaching interview. He is the type of guy who
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: I think like he could come with Shula if that's
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: the move that happens, right, and then Chiahas might be
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: gone in twenty twenty seven or maybe even twenty twenty
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: eight at the latest. And again you're I think that's
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: highly likely for that specific scenario, but also I think
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: it somebod you're gonna have to deal with. If you
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: go with the defensive head coach, you're gonna have that
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: churnet offensive coordinator where Josh Allen and the offense does
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: its thing, and so every year or two teams are
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: coming around and kicking the tires on your offensive coordinator
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: to get head coaching interview opportunities. I mean, look at
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Joe Brady. Joe Brady has interviewed with what, the Dolphins,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: the Ravens, the Raiders. I think I've lost count of
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: like all the names I've seen him associated with, Like,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Joe Brady's gotten a ton of interviews when a lot
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: of Bills fans think he's terrible, but because of the
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: association with this offense, and again I don't think he's
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: as terrible as everybody makes him out to be. I
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: also don't think he's as great as some people made
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: him out to be. But that kind of relationship and
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: association with Allen in this offense is gonna get your
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: offensive coordinator interviews. So you're gonna run into that with
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: anybody that is a defensive based head coach when it
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: comes to Shula individually, a lot of movement defensively, five
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: down overload looks, simulated pressures, creepers, a lot of run stunts,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: a lot of stunts in the past, some you know,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: match some fangio match coverage, principal stuff. I talked about
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: this with Cody Alexander a couple weeks ago when I
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: had him on the show. You know, get you get
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: some Fangio coverage stuff on the back end, but then
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: you've got some of that Wade Phillips five down pressure
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: path and Blitz packaged stuff up front. Really cool. Obviously
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: he has a bunch of horses at the Rams, especially upfront.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: You've got Kobe Turner, You've got Byron Young, You've got
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Jared Verse, now, You've got Yeah, You've got Poona Ford.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Now you have Brayden Fisk. You got dudes who can
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: kind of roll. Even what's not Jordan Davis, Oh from Clemson.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: This is gonna drive me nuts. I have to look up.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I have to look up the Rams depth chart. Forgive me,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: forgive me because his name is eluding me and it's
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: gonna drive me absolutely insane. Tyler Davis, thank you, defensive tackle.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: He's number ninety for the Rams. I remember lik him
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: a bit coming out of Clemson, like he's been productive.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Like they have dudes upfront who can absolutely just go.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Even Josiah Stewart, rookie edge out of Michigan, who I
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: like he's undersized, but just plays like a veloci rafter,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: like you've seen what they've kind of been able to
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: get out of guys up front. But again, he's got
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: the horses, but I think he does a great job
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: weaponizing them and setting them up for success, and kind
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: of the hybrid nature of the defense I think is cool.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: My biggest question with him is can he be as
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: effective without having those dudes? Right? How effective can he
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: be without having Byron Young and Jared Versus and Kobe
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Turner and all, and like this legitimate five or six
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: man deep front that they have. And especially for a
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: guy that runs a defense that's a combination of like
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: multiple schemes and philosophies and has a hybrid nature to it,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: the personnel is super important. And that's what I also
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: think is tough with whoever comes in for the defense,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: but especially if they come in and they're not alike
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: for like scheme fit with what the Bills already do. Like,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: unless you're running a four down overfront type of defense,
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: it's gonna be tough for you to change things here
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: in Buffalo because one, that's how the defense is built
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: right now. Two, like someone alluded to earlier. They don't
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: have the you know, the plethora of picks and cap
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: space to kind of revamp everything in an offseason. If
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: you decide, you know what, I'm gonna come in, I'm
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: gonna remake this defense in my image. You don't really
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: have the draft capital or the financial capital to do that.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: But so that's a hindrance for him and a hindrance
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: for the next name then I'm gonna bring up as well.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: But I like what he's done schematically. I like the
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: hybrid nature of the defense and the combinations of what
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: he does. I like how he's weaponized as players sets
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: them up for success. I like the quarters principles that
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: he operates with on the back end. I'm a huge
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: match coverage guy, so I like that type of stuff.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: I like the three safeties that he's doing. You know
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: how he works in Cam Curl, Cam Kitchens and Quinton
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Lake when he's healthy. You know, him being able to
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: get Emmanuel Forbes and Kobe Durant to play outstanding at
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: times even though they had a bit of a lull.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: You know what he's gotten out of the linebacker spot,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: even though they don't have studs at that spot. I
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: know like Nate Landman has been like a fun guy
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: who's really kind of come on, but it's been Nate
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Lambman and Omar Spates, like none of those guys are
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: big names that run the show or are all pro
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: type of guys, and he's been able to kind of
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: just set that again, set them up for success a
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: lot with what he does at the front, and he
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: has the horses. But yeah, so for me, the cons
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: with him are can he be as effective without having
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: those dudes? And then you know him bringing his scheme
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: and philosophy in knowing that it's not really a like
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: for like fit with how the Bills are currently built
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: from a roster and body type standpoint in previous schematics,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I think that would be tough. And again, what offensive
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: coordinator would he bring? I think that's a huge piece
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: for me. Again, my hope is it would be Shielhouse,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: but we'll go in a different direction if needed. And
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: any defensive coordinator this is necessarily a con just for Shula,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: but again any defensive coordinators or head coach means you're
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: probably playing the revolving door at offensive coordinator every couple
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: of years. But I do like Shula. I do like
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: what a lot of the Rams have been doing a
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: lot of what a lot of the Rams have been doing.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: What the Rams have been doing this year in a
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: lot of ways. Again, the Rams are a team that, Oh,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I've lost track at this point. I watched a ton
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: of their tape last year because I liked I like
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: Kobe Turner a lot, and then rookie Jared Verse, I
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: like Cam Kinchen's Byron Young again their front was so sick.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: And then I like Michael Hoyt last year too, But
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: they were doing such cool stuff schematically last year, and
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: you know him being the d C last year his
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: first year is their DC last year, then being their
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: defensive coordat again this year. I just think they're well coached,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: They attack the movement, the you know what they are
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: from an identity and philosophical standpoint. And then also how
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: he's been able to kind of blend multiple schemes on
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the front and back end. I like it. And then
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: his coaching history in case you Carey's been with the
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: Rams since twenty seventeen. He was the assistant linebackers coach
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: for two years, the outside linebackers coach for two years,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: the linebackers coach in twenty twenty one, the pass game
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: coordinator and DB's coach in twenty twenty two, then the
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: pass rush coordinator and linebackers coach in twenty twenty three,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: and then the defensive coordinator last year and this year.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: And knowing what they've been able to turn out there
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: with the rams, you know, maybe he can help coach
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: up this front a little bit id, some better pass
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: rush prospects, developed some guys a little bit more, and
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: or set some guys up for success. We'll see. But yeah,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: I like Shula as a name as well. Next name,
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: also a defensive mind. Jesse Minter, defensive coordinator Chargers another
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: one who again the schematic fit kind of leading off
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: with the con here, but kind of you know, connecting
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: it to the Shuler piece. The schematic fit with how
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: the Bills roster is built defensively, I think is a question.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Minter is more of a three to four type of guy,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: odd front type of looks, but he does know how
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: to have liked odd front structure in his run defense,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: but kind of tie it into an even front with
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: his principles of kind of just gap and a half,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: but you know, you know, attack, react and I should
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: say react, attack like knock back type of deal, reset
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage. I do think he could kind
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: of blend things a bit, but he's another guy who,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: like the structure in the scheme, isn't necessarily the ideal fit.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: But I just value him so much as a defensive mind.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: If you ever want to take a peek on, there's
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: a ton of stuff going back to his time at Michigan.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: So he was the Michigan defensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: At Michigan for a little bit, we'll kind of run
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: down his time there. So he was with the Ravens
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen. He was a defensive assistant for two years.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: Then he was the assistant DB's coach in twenty nineteen,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: the full on DB's coach in twenty twenty. Then he
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: went to Vanderbilt in twenty twenty one where he was
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: the DC and safety's coach. Then he was at Michigan
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: in twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three where he
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: was their defensive coordinator. Won a national championship there, and
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: then he has been the Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: last year and this year, where he followed Jim Harbaugh
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: to the Chargers from Michigan. If you ever want to
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: look something up on him, just type his name Jesse
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: Minter and type in the four pillars of defense. You know,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: there's coaching clinics on him. There's interviews of him talking
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: about it. His four pillars are defense of defense, I
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: should say, are effort and angles. That's one effort and angles,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: block deconstruction, ball disruption, and obnoxious communication. You just see
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: the way his team operates again, like playing the angles
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: of football. Football off comes down to math a bunch.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: You know, it's you know, numbers and just pure plus
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: in mind, and then it's also angles. It's geometry, all
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. And he coaches guys to hustle up.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: He coaches them to take good angles to the football.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Block deconstruction hugely important. And if you watch the Chargers,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: you do it's huge linebackers. As an example, you see
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Dayon Henley and Denzel Perriman. Those dudes know how to
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: deconstruct blocks all day. But then watching you know, Khalil Matck,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: watching two Y two Plow too, even Derwin James, like,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: watch their dbs how they take on blocks. You see
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: that ball disruption, making plays on the ball, cause and havoc.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: And then I'm not just communication. They do a lot
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: of cool schematic stuff on the back end, and that
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: happens because of how well and tight or how good
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: and tight their communication is on the back end. He's
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: also you know, again a lot of just great line
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: one liners from him and of what he believes philosophically
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: and from an identity standpoint. You know, he talks all
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: the time about how scheme is important, but also it's
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: what you play. It's not just what you play, it's
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: how you play it. He says, quote it's a fifty
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: to fifty split. How you play and what you play
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: are of equal importance. And I just think that's so important,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Like he knows, he's that type of guy that he
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: knows what he wants to play, but he's only gonna
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: play what his guys can maximize what sets them up
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: for success, because it's not just what you play, it's
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: how you play it. And him being able to balance
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: those two he's done it for the past several years.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I like it against schematically creative on the back end.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: One of the things I don't like, and this kind
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: of ties into what the Bills used to be a bit.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: He is a proponent, especially this past year, of like
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: that light box defense that will give up you know,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: yards on the ground but won't allow a ton of explosives.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: He is kind of the proverbial like bend but don't
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: break type of defense. In twenty twenty five, that's really
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: what they were, you know, not blitz in a ton,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: but getting really good rush efficiency. I think they have
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: the seventh highest sack rate in the in the league
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: that in this past year with what they were able
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: to do. They want to make offenses grow impatient. They're
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: gonna stay in nickel. They're gonna have light boxes, they're
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: gonna let you run the ball for four to five
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: yards at a time, and they're actually gonna bet that
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: you become impatient or you make a mistake and then
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: they capitalize because they're in dime or they're in nickel.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: And again some of this is tied to you know,
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: you got Derwyn James, who's a skeleton key of a
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: nickel with what he can do with coverage and what
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: he can do as a run defender. And then some
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: of the dbs they've had on the back end as well,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: but that's something that for me is a con like.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I don't like that type of model and mentality, but
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: it really works for what he's done and where he's
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: been and how he built this Chargers team and who
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: they've had from a personnel standpoint. I also wonder again,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: oh yes, forced asleep says Ben, but don't break is
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: forbidden in Buffalo. I also wonder how that gel is
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: kind of just with the front that they have in Buffalo.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: Like you go to the Chargers and they had you know,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: poona Ford last year, they had Tier Turt this year.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: Like they're playing some odd front principles and you know
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: what gaps they're controlling, how they're controlling them, playing gap
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: in a half, playing knock back, all that type of stuff.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: That's not what the Bills have been built with, And
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: that's not what the Bills have, Like they would have
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: to kind of reach tool themselves a little bit like TJ.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Sanders isn't built for that type of defense. At Oliver
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: isn't built for that type of defense. Dean Walker maybe
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: is built for that type of defense. But you have
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: to severely change your interior defensive line. Your linebackers are
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: not good at block deconstruction. We'll see what happens with
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Matt Mlano if if he comes back. But Treel Bernard,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: he's not built for block deconstruction. His size and frame
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: and arm length not great, you know, So what would
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Minter have to do to kind of bat that. I
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: think that's what makes the fit a little tough. But
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: I do like him as a defensive mind. I think
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: he's someone who would get I think he's someone who
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: would get get the job done in the long term
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: going forward. But I think the initial first year, like
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: that first year twenty twenty six, I think would be
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: really ugly and messy defensively because they don't have the
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: pieces or the body types that would fit the type
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: of defense he runs. But I do trust him to
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: kind of balance that a little bit and mitigate those discrepancies.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: He's a really great teacher, very hands on, But I
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: think it will be tough considering just how the Bill's
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: defensive roster is built. Same similar challenge for Shula as well.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Both of these guys, right, both of like the hot
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: name defensive coordinators in Shula and Minter that are potential
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: head coach candidates, don't really gel or fit with what
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: the Bill's current identity is defensively, and you would have
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: to overhaul or retool or revamp or tweak whatever verbat
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: You want to use a lot of the body types
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: and the roster to get them to fit the schematics
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: and identity and philosophy for Shula and Minter. That's part
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: of the reason why I also like Robert Salad because
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I thought it was more of a seamless fit, and
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: I do think he's a good coach. I know some
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: people don't, but yeah, well, I do think that's going
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: to be a challenge for Minter, just like it would
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: be for Shula. But I value both of their minds schematically,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: and kind of going from there next one, I'm gonna
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: bring these guys up in conjunction with one another. A
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: lot of you have mentioning in the chat, Joe Brady,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Brian Dable. I I don't know why. I've kind of
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: backed off this a little bit the more I've thought
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: about it, but I just have a gut feeling that
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Joe Brady's gonna be the head coach of the Bills.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I just kind of think of that. I don't want
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: Joe Brady as the head coach of the Bills. I
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: don't think he's as big of a problem and he's
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: been kind of made out to be. I just don't think.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: I don't think Joe Braden woul say it just kind
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: of speak out of both sides of my oll. Actually, no,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: I'm not. I don't think Joe Brady was as amazing
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: as everybody was making him out to be last year
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: when Alan won the MVP and the Bills were running
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: the ball and doing all that great stuff. I also
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: don't think he's as bad as everybody's been making him
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: out to be this year. So I don't think he
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: was as high up there as everybody was making him
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: out to be. And I don't think he's as bad
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: as everybody's making him out to be. Now that said,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: I don't want him to be head coach. And I'm
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: in a similar poll with Brian Dable really just because
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: of how poorly things went with the Giants and the
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: reports coming out of thereafter grant it. You know, it
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: could be a smear campaign and all that type of stuff.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: We don't know what the deal is with that organization
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: and how things come out, but things were just so
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: bad in New York and I even going back to
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: this past game with the Chiefs, or this past season
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: where they played the Chiefs on Monday night, and I
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: know Spags does his things and we'll try and limit,
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: you know, your best thing, but dabill not being able
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: to get the ball to the leak neighbors, you know,
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: watching Daniel Jones leave the Giants and then start to
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: kind of flourish legitimately, legitimately a little bit with the Colts.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: How much or how sustainable that was going to be
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: before after the injury, Now there's a huge variable thrown
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: into that. I just don't I don't want Brady or Dable.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: It's just I didn't even dive into that. We know
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: kind of who they are and what they are at
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: this point as well, So I didn't dive into too
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: much of the schematics for this conversation because I think
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: a lot of us know who they are and what
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: they are after watching the Bills for all these years.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: But Dables run in New York was just so bad,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: and there was so much like smoke from a negative
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: standpoint that even if a good chunk of it is
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: still smoking, there's no fire, there's still enough fire that
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: makes me not want Dable to be the head coach
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: of the Bills, which is a shame because I met
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: him in person at the Senior Bowl. He was awesome,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: He's a local guy, all that kind of stuff. I
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: don't want Dable, And as Tristan says, like Dabele doesn't
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: seem to have the disposition of a head coach. Yeah,
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: there's just a lot of wonkiness with Dabel. And so
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I don't want Dable and I don't want Joe Brady.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I just I don't think Brady is the guy wants
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: steering the ship and ooh, coming from Will and the chat,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Dable is a classic Belichick tree coach. That's actually super fair.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: That's a super fair thought there. Yeah, and then Brady huh.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I feel like also too, Like if Brady's the head coach,
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: he's more puppet than anything else. And I don't value
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: him enough schematically to think that that's fine from an
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: exus and O standpoint, Like I think Kobiac would be better,
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: and I would prefer that. I don't think there's a
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: right answer for anybody, Like we've talked about it, right,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Like even the guys that I've listed off, like my
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: top three of Kubiak, Shula and Minter. We still don't
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: know on them as like head coaches, like there's variables
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: to each guy, there's pros and cons to each guy
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: across the board. I just I just don't want Brady
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: and I don't want Dable, And it's more gut field
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: than anything, although there obviously there are schematic pieces and
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: people eating aspects to it. But I yeah, Dable's tenure
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: in New York was ugly and wonky and black. Just
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: what he was doing with Jackson Dart at the end
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: and running him a million times, like the Camp Scataboo stuff.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Just you know, my league neighbors like kind of throwing
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: jabs at him last year, and you know, people openly
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: in the media, like players criticized him and just not
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: liking him. And then how he went, how he went
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: out the door just really mussy and medi musty and
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: medi messy and muddy, and then even kind of compare
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: that somebody said in the chat, Yeah, like his how
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: his tenure in Buffalo I did it was also not
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: great and then like rumblings that kind of came after that.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: So I I I'm out on table not a fan
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: of that. One and Brady Again, I don't think Brady's
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: is terrible. I don't. I don't want Joe Brady as
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: as my head coach right now. And I could be
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: completely wrong. He might go to someone said he's in
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: the final stages with Baltimore, he's interviewed with the interviewed
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: with Miami, interview with the Raiders. I believe he could
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: go on to be an amazing head coach. I just
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: don't see it right now, and I know the faith
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: in it right now, and I just I just don't.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: I don't want more of even though again the offense.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I think we'll get this into the film room tomorrow.
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: And I don't want to talk too much about the
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Broncos game, but I don't think the offense was a
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: huge problem schematically from a play calling or design standpoint.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: In the playoffs. You know, there were some good things
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: that he was doing, just like I think there were
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: some good things throughout. But oh, question from Josh oh
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: And in their tenure in Buffalo, whose offense look better,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Brady or Dable Oof. It's tough because they're they're both
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: so different. Brady is condensed formations, bigger body, types of
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: wide receiver and running the football, and Dable is John
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Brown and Cole Beasley spread them out, you know, three
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: by two empty gun. Allan's gonna throw it forty times
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: a game. They're both too, They're two completely different offenses,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: and they both were a sign of the times. Like
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: da bles offense worked because of where the NFL was
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: and it's trends and its meta, and Brady's offense has
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: worked because of where the NFL is and it's trends
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: and its meta. Ooh. I also think, you know RJ says,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: that's not even a question Dable all the way. Everything
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: was difficult under Brady because the other team knew the plays.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: I also think people forget about like the sludge of
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: games for Dable, like the Jacksonville game. Ironically, even the
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: thirteen seconds game. The Bills started out horrible on offense,
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: you know, to start like they had that flurry where
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: they started chucking it down the field and making plays,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: but they kind of had to because they started out
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: slow and muddy and ugly, and they had a couple
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: games like that in the Dable tenure. Wow, but the
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: pass game stuff has been really Here's what I want
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: to say, Brady but the pass game stuff has been
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: so ugly under Brady. But the weapons and the players
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: available also haven't been great with Brady. But then also
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: like Heat also didn't do good with with with Diggs,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: and as we clearly see, Diggs has not completely fallen off.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: I think you could do six to one half a
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: dozen to the other. The run game under table wasn't
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: great and he didn't really hit that enough. I think
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: I think it's six to one half a dozen the other.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: It's really tough because their offenses are just so different.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Their offense is just so different. The Brady run game
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: has been good. Granted he's ad Chromer, so you can
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: see that as a pro as oricon. Oh and Jason
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: just said I don't trust that Brady would succeed without Chromer.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: It's tough. There's so many variables. I think it's six
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: and one half it does the other. I'm gonna say push.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: That's a great question. That's a really great question, Josh,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: really well done. That's a good question. I'm gonna be
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: thinking about that all night. Yeah. Obviously, the Dable Pass
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: game lights out for the most part, even though again
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: they had a bunch of struggles and didn't pivot to
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: the run game enough, and then the Brady run game
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: was sick, and then the past game struggled, like if
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: you could merge the two, that'd be sick at some point.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: And again, personnel ties into a two like Dable didn't
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: have a running back the capable like James Cookie also
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: didn't have Aaron Kromer. Joe Brady doesn't have prime John
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: Brown and prime Cole Beasley. Prime Cole Beasley was a problem.
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: Dude was a monster. So having those guys maybe that
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: helps a little bit, plus like prime digs. Yeah, cam
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: Moore says, let's just take the middle ground and say
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: Ken Dorsey. I still don't think Ken Dorsey was as
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: bad as everybody made about to be. That's a conversation
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: for another time. Oh. Also, fair comment here saying you
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: also have a younger, less experienced Josh Allen under Brian Dable.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: Fair fair, fair, fair, fair fair. Yeah, and based on
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: the comments here there's I think it's a pretty good split. Yeah,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: think you could make the case either way. That's a
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: really good question, Josh, well done and getting everybody chatting,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Well done, Well done. Yeah, I again, I don't think
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: Brady is terrible. If you told me Joe Brady was
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: staying his offensive coordinator, I wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: have hated it. You know, if McDermott state as well,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: Like I wanted Mike McDaniel over Joe Brady, But I
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: don't think Joe Brady's a guy that I'm like, he's terrible.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Jettison him into the sun if he left. Similar to McDermott,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: if he left, I'd be like, okay, cool. If he stayed,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: I'd be like, okay, cool, But I don't want him
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: as a head coach. And then Dable, Yeah, I just
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: how bad that Giant stop was and everything coming out
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: and what they were on the field, ugly and bad
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: in a lot of ways. Some other random not other random,
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: but other names that I'm kind of just thinking of.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: I was just diving into, like other playoff teams and
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: who could potentially go somewhere. Grant Udinsky, he is the
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: offensive coordinator for the Jags, you know, really kind of
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: both Jags coordinators potentially him and then Anthony Campanilli, the
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: defensive coordinator who talked about a ton a couple of
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: weeks ago. But I think those are more like outskirt
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: outline names, especially for Rodinsky, who he's thirty years old,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: extreme would be extremely young head coach. He's been the
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: Jags OC this past year, but we know how involved
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: Cone is and you know just kind of what he is.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: But those are some names I've heard some rumblings about
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: potentially happening, but I kinda could see it happening, but
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: I don't think either are completely realistic. And then is
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: the comic just meant to here? Yeah, Davis web but
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: another name those who don't know. He's the Broncos quarterbacks coach,
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: and again he's also somebody who young as well. He's
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: thirty years old. Finished playing for the Giants in twenty
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: twenty two. He became the Broncos QB coach in twenty
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: twenty three and was at that through twenty twenty four,
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: and then this past season he's been the Broncos offensive
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: pass game coordinator and QB coach, obviously learning at the
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: feet of Sean Payton. Really good offensive mine, really good
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: red zone designer. I'm not completely opposed to Davis Webb.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: I just think he's so he's so raw. There's no
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: Davis Webb is like one of those like say he
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: got a head coaching job. Now, it's either one of
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: those moves where like in two seasons or maybe even one,
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: you're like, oh my god, I can't believe somebody hired
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: him with his lack of experience, Like that's absolutely crazy,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: although again, his playing history was more off the field
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: than it was on the field. But I think he's
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: one of those hires if it were to happen, or
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: names where you know it's like, Wow, what a crazy hit,
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: that's amazing, or if it's like, wow, I can't believe
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: somebody hired that guy. He has no experience. What a
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: dumpster fire that was? That type of deal. Yeah, I
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: throw him in. I throw him in that category there.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: I'm just kind of seeing like type of deal. Those
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: are some last other names. Yeah, my top three are
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Sorry I was reading comments as I'm kind of thinking
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: and talking here a little bit waxing poetically. My top
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: three Clint Kubiak, Chrishula, Jesse Minter. For what it's worth,
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: I had Robert sala as my number two a day ago,
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: but then he got snatched up by the Titans. Gate says,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: what about the Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman I just
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: don't think he's leaving Notre Dame. I just don't think
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: it's happening. I don't think it's happening. J Clark says
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: after watching a few interviews, Webb has that aura and
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: that counts for something. I don't think, you know, sure
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: we're gonna or a farm for it? Why not? I
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: just don't know enough of what he offers as like
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: a showrunner and ship steerer and all of that and
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: everything else in between. Exozos comes the people manage with
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: pizza's a lot. So I don't know. I don't I
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: With Peyton Manning ever coach, I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't think he wants to. There's
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: a lot of coaching's tough. Man. You're in the building
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: like eighteen hours a day. You're like sleeping under your desk.
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: It's a grind. Like it's a real grind. Yeah, it's
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: a real grind. You know, it's not a grind. Getting
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: the best pizza in Buffalo, New York, and then is
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: one pie pizza love that segue, sweet sauce pie cup
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: and char pepperoni, homemade blue cheese, a catering division called
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: Elevated Catering. A Buffalo amazing, amazing, amazing food, however you
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: slice it. No pun intended there. I truly do believe
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: One Pie Pizza is the best piece. It's a Buffalo
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: and I don't say that because they sponsor the show.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: They sponsor the show because I think they are the
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: best pizza in Buffalo. I had reached out to another
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: pizza spot for a potential sponsor. One Piece saw That
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: asked me to come on down. They gave me a
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: pie to sample and try, and I have never looked back.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: Kayleb says, did they deliver to Houston. I wish they did.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: I'll ask, but yeah, just I really do think they
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: are the best in Buffalo. And I don't say that
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: because they sponsored the show. They sponsor the show because
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: I think they're the best. I tried their stuff. I've
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: never looked back. I like the way they just go
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: about their business and all the generosity to the city
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: and the community at large. Partnering with Roswell, partnering with
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: the SPCA, Toys for Tots, the Alzheimer's Foundation. They give
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: back in a lot of ways that they don't necessarily
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: have to. I always describe them as really good people
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: making really good food. They make an awesome breakfast pizza.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: So if you're sad come Sunday morning because the bills
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: aren't playing, get yourself some one PI pizza breakfast pizza,
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: or just wait till the afternoon and get a regular pie.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: If you get different toppings and veggies, they'll chop them
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: all up evenly and sprinkle them across the pie. And again,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: that homemade blue cheese is absolutely immaculate. And the catering
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: division is great too. So if you are putting on
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: an event, you know we put it in. You know
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: that little bean your bonnet. Now, if you're doing events
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: for the summer or grad parties or birthdays or different things,
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: put one pie out there and call up their catering
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: division Elevated Catering a Buffalo. I've had them do multiple
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: events for me each of the past summer's different family
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: events and functions and gatherings and all that kind of stuff,
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: and it's hit every single time. And you can get
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: the pizza while you're doing it too, so you can
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: get like awesome chicken and rice dishes and different kinds
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: of mac and cheeses and also still get the pizzas
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: on top of it. Awesome, awesome stuff. Get yourself some
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: one pie pizza. If you have not already, you will
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: not be disappointed when you go there. Tell them disguise
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: Coverage or me or cover one sent you and treat
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: your taste buds and do some good while you Our are,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: our are, while you are at it. I'm falling apart,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: falling apart. This episode was that's awesome, even though it
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: was sad and frustrating. Again, if I didn't get to
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: a comment of yours or a thought of yours or anything,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: I sincerely, honestly like apologize. There were so many comments
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: in this episode. I didn't know if there would be
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: a lot of people tuning in to night or not,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: but there were a ton of people here and that
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: was awesome to see. So thank you everybody who tuned
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: in live or really appreciate it. Before you leave, please
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: drop alike on this video again, like so the lifeblood
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: of these streams, So please drop alike on this video
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: if you have not already. I appreciate everybody stopping by
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: watching live and I hope you enjoyed this episode. It's
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: man it's it's an interesting time for the Bills. It's
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: I already thought this is gonna be very pivotal and
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: forming off season for the direction of the franchise before
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: McDermot got fired. Just with where they are, with some
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: of the cap where they are, with some of the
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: players they brought in, the draft picks they've made, I
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: kind of thought the defense was kind of gonna have
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: to cross the rubicon a little bit with what they've
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: been from a body type and archetype standpoint. As you
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: folks know, I've been talking about that so much last
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: year and a ton this season. So I thought they
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: had to make a lot of defensive changes to get
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: to where they need to be with the league trends
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: and the league meta. But they don't have a lot
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: of caps based financial flexibility to do that. Draft picks
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: will kind of see extensions they've given out all this stuff.
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: I already thought that was gonna be kind of a
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: tough offseason and a big one for them, And now
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: with McDermott gone, it's even more so. This is we're
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: really now And I don't think this is anything revelatory
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: that I'm about to say, but we're going to point
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: to this offseason as such a pivotal moment in the
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: direction of this franchise. It's either going to be they
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: write the ship and things get better and they finally
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: get over the hump, or they stay the same and
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: it's like, oh, it wasn't McDermott, it wasn't the coke.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: Or they tank and they plumb it like again. Another
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: thing I'm saying is revelatory or some brand new information.
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: But this one's gonna go a long way. Alan is
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: getting into his thirties, that the cap hit is only
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: getting higher. They do have to retool, They do have
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: to write the ship like a true admiral Kamory well done. Yeah,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: it's gonna be. It's just gonna be a very pivotabal
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: and formative offseason for what they do. How much roster
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: turnover is there, What coaching changes are there are we
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: looking at? You know, a new head coach, offensive coordinator
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: and defensive coordinator, you know, whoever they bring in. I
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: think again a lot of the names that I mentioned.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: If they bring in Shula, he's also the defensive coordinator.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: There will be a defensive coordinator, but he's running the defense.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: If they bring in Clint Koby act they'll have an
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, but he's running the offense. But does Chris
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: Shula come in and Joe Brady stays right? Does Jesse
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Minter come in and Joe Brady stays, Does Clint Kubiac
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: come in and Bobby Babbage stays? You know what defenses
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: get brought in player wise schematically? What offenses get brought
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: in player wise? Schematically? The changes? How hard does Bean
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: go to try and show that it was McDermott. Does
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: he have some tricks off his sleeve that he's gonna
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: make or kind of try and go scorched earth to prove, Hey,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: it was McDermott. I'm gonna really shine now? And does
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: that work or does he fail further? And it plunges
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: this team into the depths of hell from which they
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: never recover. Scary but potentially exciting. I'm gonna start to
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: dive into college tape soon, which is always a fun
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: thing for me. You've got free agent evaluations coming up,
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: college prospect evaluations coming up next week's episode. I will
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: likely I love all about admiral jokes. Everybody's putting in
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: the chat. It's awesome. Next week, I'm probably gonna do
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: a deep dive INDO season recap type of deal in
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: terms of positions, archetypes, things they need to change, things
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: they need to do, kind of lumping that in with
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: the free A class money cap space. We'll be diving
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: into all of that on this show, right like cap
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: moves that can be made, extensions that could or should
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: be made, guys who can be cut post June first designations,
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: all that stuff. I'll be outlining the kind of the
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: whole offseason schedule as we go for it in this week.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: The McDermott firing and changes just kind of threw all
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: of that into flux. So yeah, I hope you continue
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: to join me every single week Live Tuesday, nine pm Eastern.
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: Here the cover one channel for disguised coverage. We're gonna
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: be diving into everything, schematic x as and o's based structure,
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: player evaluations, fits, anything and everything. We're gonna be doing
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: a ton of deep dive in this offseason. I'm gonna
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: be doing another big deep dive film series like I
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: did a couple of seasons ago when I kind of
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: forecasted and predicted what the bills would be offensively with
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: condensed formations and league trends, and you know mc collins
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: came in and why they brought Homan and what it
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: was gonna mean and all of that. And we showed
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: tape of the Rams and the Lions and the Texans
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: offense the time as some examples of what teams are
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: doing with condensed formations to win. We're gonna be doing
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: that on the defensive side of the ball this offseason
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: to show the direction the Bills defense needs to go
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: in and why based on current league trends and meta
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: and all that stuff. So yeah, I hope you folks
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: enjoyed this episode. Don't get two down on whatever's going on.
