Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: And we have got one heck of a birthday party
- 0:08Speaker 1: to celebrate this week, and I basically will celebrate all
- 0:12Speaker 1: week long.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I think I got it started last weekend.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I think you did because you were wearing some ridiculous overalls,
- 0:17Speaker 3: right well, patrionic overall, American flag overall.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I don't know if it gets any better than those overalls.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I'll be wearing those to work on Thursday.
- 0:27Speaker 4: I'm so mad. Whatever, let's keep it pushing.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Well, there are some things that we think are attached to.
- 0:34Speaker 5: America, win essential America, that's right, Like, you know, baseball
- 0:39Speaker 5: and hot dogs. When other people around the world hear
- 0:42Speaker 5: baseball and hot dogs, they might go, oh, yeah, that's
- 0:45Speaker 5: what they do in America.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Well, it turns out that while baseball is heavily inspired
- 0:51Speaker 1: by English bat and ball games, hot dogs were actually
- 0:54Speaker 1: created in Frankfurt, Germany.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Oh so a hot dog game even our.
- 1:00Speaker 1: No, it's not, well technically not. We've probably perfected it
- 1:04Speaker 1: or perfected.
- 1:05Speaker 4: It, co opted it or whatever that frad.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Have you ever seen that Frank's hot dog eating contest?
- 1:10Speaker 1: That's the most American thing there is.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Here's another one.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Have you ever heard someone say, you know, like Mother, God,
- 1:21Speaker 1: and country. It's a famous patriotic mantra. Yeah, well this
- 1:26Speaker 1: was actually coined by British statesman Sir Winston Churchill.
- 1:31Speaker 4: What and we were trying to get away from Britain
- 1:34Speaker 4: of the fourth of July?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, what about this? The phrase as american as apple pie?
- 1:41Speaker 4: You're gonna tell me apple pie and american? Huh?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Apple pie recipes originated in England, and apples themselves come
- 1:49Speaker 1: from Central Asia.
- 1:51Speaker 2: What's the most American thing you can do?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Though?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Combine those two into a delicious, sweet sugary treat.
- 1:59Speaker 3: That's right, piles of sugar, and that's what makes it America,
- 2:03Speaker 3: that's right.
- 2:04Speaker 2: And this one kind of breaks my heart a little bit.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Blue jeans, blue jeans aren't America.
- 2:11Speaker 2: You see, just a guy or a lady, yes, out working.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah, dirty blue jeans maybe has a natural hole in them,
- 2:20Speaker 1: as opposed to the ones they create it jeans. Now, well,
- 2:24Speaker 1: sadly blue jeans were invented by Levi Strauss, but the
- 2:28Speaker 1: denim fabric actually comes from France, and jeans gets the
- 2:34Speaker 1: name from Italy.
- 2:36Speaker 4: You know what, I didn't think I needed to know
- 2:39Speaker 4: this information.
- 2:40Speaker 3: As far as I'm concerned, all these things are American
- 2:42Speaker 3: because I feel like we did it better or something.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Taking jeans and like tearing that away from us here
- 2:49Speaker 1: in America breaks my heart. But you know what, we
- 2:52Speaker 1: work hard in those blue jeans. Yeah, and that's what
- 2:54Speaker 1: makes this country run. And then finally here, have you
- 2:57Speaker 1: ever heard the the saying speak softly and carry a
- 3:02Speaker 1: big stick.
- 3:04Speaker 4: That sounds so American?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yes, it's widely considered a quintessential American political phrase. It's
- 3:10Speaker 1: often attributed with President Theodore Roosevelt.
- 3:13Speaker 3: That's right, that's like our man here in North Dakota.
- 3:17Speaker 2: That's right.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Well, Roosevelt himself noted that was actually a West African proverb,
- 3:23Speaker 1: so he didn't even come up with that one himself.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Okay, well fine, at least he popularized it here, and
- 3:29Speaker 3: I like that. That's very American to take something else
- 3:32Speaker 3: and make it popular.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Well, either way, it is kind of just a good
- 3:38Speaker 1: reminder of what makes America incredible. All of these things
- 3:42Speaker 1: can come together to create a country that we all
- 3:45Speaker 1: can love and be proud of, especially apple pie.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Okay, we are not given that one up, I don't think.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Well, I do like that things from all other countries,
- 3:55Speaker 3: it comes together and it makes America one big old
- 3:58Speaker 3: toss salad.
- 4:02Speaker 6: Celebrating life's little victories victory. Every morning we practice gratitude
- 4:07Speaker 6: on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 4:08Speaker 3: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 4:11Speaker 3: basket job busted out when it was someone's acting hard.
- 4:14Speaker 6: I just really needed to win, you know, share your
- 4:16Speaker 6: little victories with us at seven oh one two eight
- 4:19Speaker 6: one eight seven.
- 4:22Speaker 1: All right, Angie, do you have a little victory for us?
- 4:25Speaker 1: On this Tuesday?
- 4:26Speaker 3: I caught up on Love Island USA and on House
- 4:30Speaker 3: of the Dragon, which we affectionately call it hot D,
- 4:34Speaker 3: which you could also call Love Island USA hot D.
- 4:37Speaker 4: I digress.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Can you go into the those further? Why do you
- 4:40Speaker 2: call it that?
- 4:41Speaker 3: The House of the Dragon houses h of the ot
- 4:45Speaker 3: and then Dragon hot D.
- 4:47Speaker 4: That's how you like hashtag it?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Oh okay, I didn't know that you did not what?
- 4:52Speaker 3: No, I did know that start trying to get me
- 4:55Speaker 3: in the trouble, you little brat.
- 4:58Speaker 4: But I caught up.
- 4:59Speaker 3: On Love Island USA and House of the Dragon. Those
- 5:02Speaker 3: are my two shows right now, and I can't always
- 5:07Speaker 3: watch them in real time because I'm tired and I
- 5:10Speaker 3: have to go to bed so that I can function
- 5:14Speaker 3: on air the following morning, So it was nice to
- 5:16Speaker 3: get cut up.
- 5:17Speaker 4: I'm feeling good. House of the Dragon.
- 5:19Speaker 3: That was quite literally the best episode of the entire series.
- 5:23Speaker 2: That's what I told you.
- 5:24Speaker 4: He said that to me yesterday, And.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it is a little victory to catch up on
- 5:29Speaker 3: your shows. That is a little victory, but it feels good,
- 5:32Speaker 3: and so I wanted to celebrate.
- 5:33Speaker 1: What about you, Gabe, Well, first we have to give
- 5:36Speaker 1: a big shout out to Kathleen. She said, my non
- 5:39Speaker 1: cuddly cat just cuddled with me. She says, there was
- 5:43Speaker 1: about five seconds of pawing at the blanket. He laid
- 5:45Speaker 1: on my chest for maybe three seconds and then left,
- 5:49Speaker 1: but he did lay on me.
- 5:50Speaker 4: A win is a win, there is. This is what
- 5:52Speaker 4: we mean by little victory.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Gray.
- 5:54Speaker 1: There is nothing worse than when you have an animal
- 5:56Speaker 1: and you're trying to show it some love and affection
- 5:58Speaker 1: and care and it's kind of sort of wants nothing to.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Do with you.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what happens when your kids become teenagers.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So exactly right, all right, my little victory today is
- 6:09Speaker 1: going to be food. Yesterday, Angie and I went to
- 6:11Speaker 1: Casa Maico yeh, lunch and you have a chance, by
- 6:15Speaker 1: the way, to win a fifty dollars gift certificate to
- 6:17Speaker 1: Cosa Mexico on the Big ninety eight point seven Facebook page.
- 6:21Speaker 1: But let me tell you this. I got a Chimmy
- 6:23Speaker 1: Choga there yesterday. This thing was like the size of
- 6:26Speaker 1: two burritos.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It was huge. It had to have been a foot long,
- 6:31Speaker 2: like I.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Think that that will be the size of baby g
- 6:33Speaker 4: when pretty.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Close, pretty close.
- 6:36Speaker 1: This thing was huge, and so I didn't eat the
- 6:40Speaker 1: whole thing there yesterday.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I brought it home.
- 6:43Speaker 1: My wife had some of it for dinner or I
- 6:46Speaker 1: don't know whatever four o'clock is at your house, but
- 6:49Speaker 1: she had some of it.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I have the rest for.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Breakfast today, so little Chimmy Choga breakfast, and it is
- 6:56Speaker 1: so good steak, there's peppers in there, rice bee and
- 7:00Speaker 1: this Chipotle sauce that I think you could dunk anything in.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah, probably, Yeah, So I'm nuts even.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm looking forward to that for breakfast today. And
- 7:10Speaker 1: I purposefully saved it just so I could tell you
- 7:13Speaker 1: about it here on Little Victories.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Oh I love this for.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Us, But when that music comes on, something happens deep
- 7:25Speaker 3: in my soul.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I'm not even.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Kidding yesterday, Episode two of season three of a House
- 7:33Speaker 1: of the Dragon hot d. I will say this has
- 7:37Speaker 1: been the episode I feel like I've been waiting for
- 7:39Speaker 1: for three seasons. Yeah, this was in my opinion, and
- 7:43Speaker 1: we're not gonna spoil anything, but this was by far
- 7:47Speaker 1: the best episode I probably think of the entire series.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Agree wholeheartedly. IMDb agrees.
- 7:54Speaker 3: It's the highest rated episode of the series.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And if you are not caught up with House of
- 8:00Speaker 1: the Dragon, or maybe you know you're way way behind
- 8:03Speaker 1: or haven't even started, this is the episode you grind
- 8:07Speaker 1: hours and hours and hours to get through to finally
- 8:13Speaker 1: see and watch.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Yeah, especially because you're in a good position right now
- 8:18Speaker 3: if you haven't watched it that all of the episodes
- 8:21Speaker 3: of the season are out, you can get through it
- 8:26Speaker 3: and not have to wait, in some cases literal years
- 8:29Speaker 3: to get a new episode.
- 8:32Speaker 4: So I highly recommend.
- 8:34Speaker 3: And some people haven't watched Game of Thrones, and so
- 8:38Speaker 3: it's like, can I even get into House of the Dragon.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Kind of Yeah, they don't really correlate.
- 8:43Speaker 3: This is a pre Yeah, this is a prequel, and
- 8:46Speaker 3: so unless you're like hunting for Easter eggs like Game
- 8:49Speaker 3: of Thrones, fans, you really kind of can just get
- 8:52Speaker 3: into it.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:53Speaker 3: House of the Dragon we highly recommend, and HBO should
- 8:57Speaker 3: pay us, honestly.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And what I love the most about this past Sunday's episode,
- 9:02Speaker 1: for those of you who watched it, I feel like
- 9:04Speaker 1: this past episode had some of that gritty, oh my
- 9:10Speaker 1: god moments that you got in the first handful of
- 9:13Speaker 1: seasons with Game of Thrones. I really felt like some
- 9:16Speaker 1: high quality writing. They're sending you down one path only
- 9:21Speaker 1: to bring you to a different path towards the end,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and it was everything I have been waiting for, only
- 9:28Speaker 1: to probably be let down next week because this episode
- 9:31Speaker 1: was so good.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I don't know they're gonna have two bangers like that
- 9:33Speaker 2: back time.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I don't know, but I will say what I did
- 9:36Speaker 3: notice because I watched the episode after you did, and
- 9:39Speaker 3: you had already told me you thought it was the
- 9:40Speaker 3: best of the series. I made sure to see who
- 9:43Speaker 3: directed this episode, and it was a woman named Claire.
- 9:46Speaker 3: So you know what, Claire props to you. I mean, excellent.
- 9:51Speaker 3: And if this doesn't earn Emma Darcy I think is
- 9:56Speaker 3: their name. If this doesn't earn Emma Darcy an Emmy,
- 10:01Speaker 3: then burn down the Academy because it is such an
- 10:05Speaker 3: incredible piece of acting, or the entire episode incredible acting throughout.
- 10:11Speaker 3: This is your PSA from Gab and Angie to watch
- 10:14Speaker 3: House of the Dragon.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Now, if you are watching the show and you would
- 10:18Speaker 1: like to text us yes, and if we don't want
- 10:21Speaker 1: to do any spoilers, so Angie and I can obviously
- 10:23Speaker 1: talk to you via the texting line at seven oh
- 10:25Speaker 1: one two eight zero one nine eight seven. We can
- 10:28Speaker 1: text you openly and freely without ruining the episode for
- 10:31Speaker 1: anyone who maybe hasn't seen it, because I know there
- 10:33Speaker 1: are some people who do want to watch it, but
- 10:36Speaker 1: they're just waiting till all the episodes are done because
- 10:38Speaker 1: they can't do.
- 10:39Speaker 2: The week by weekday It's hard.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I have I have friends who watch TV shows like that,
- 10:44Speaker 1: which is kind of interesting. But if you have watched
- 10:47Speaker 1: the show or are watching the show, text us we
- 10:49Speaker 1: can talk about it. What do you think of the episode?
- 10:51Speaker 1: And once again I'm not ruining anything. But with the
- 10:54Speaker 1: old Game of Throne shows, you kind of never know
- 10:56Speaker 1: who was going to live?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and I.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Feel like this was the first episode where quite literally
- 11:01Speaker 1: we have no idea who is gonna live? Who was
- 11:02Speaker 1: gonna die. What surprise. Characters came out of nowhere and
- 11:06Speaker 1: it was wonderful. So HBO will take our check, get
- 11:11Speaker 1: into House of the Dragon at least this episode and
- 11:15Speaker 1: let us know what you think about it at seven
- 11:17Speaker 1: oh one two eight zero one seven.
- 11:21Speaker 6: In the World of Rules in Gray Areas, one morning
- 11:24Speaker 6: show dares to ask the hard questions.
- 11:26Speaker 2: We both know you guilty, he's guilty. Is it legal?
- 11:30Speaker 2: You're guilty of the worst crime of all? On Big
- 11:33Speaker 2: ninety eight point seven.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Today's Is It Legal was inspired by the Ryan Gosling
- 11:39Speaker 1: movie The Gray Man. There's a big, giant action scene
- 11:42Speaker 1: in this building and as he is walking out of
- 11:44Speaker 1: the building tracking down the man he is looking for,
- 11:47Speaker 1: Ryan Gosling's character happens to pull a fire alarm, causing
- 11:52Speaker 1: a bunch of chaos and said lobby and they walk
- 11:55Speaker 1: on the out of the building. Right, Okay, so I
- 11:58Speaker 1: think we are aware pulling a fire alarm with no
- 12:01Speaker 1: legitimate reason. Yeah, not good, no way, now, not legal
- 12:05Speaker 1: at all? Right, Well, what is the penalty for it?
- 12:08Speaker 4: Yeah? What are the repercussions for that?
- 12:10Speaker 1: In Fargo, if you're messing with fire alarms or falsely
- 12:13Speaker 1: pulling one, that would be a Class B misdemeanor. That's
- 12:17Speaker 1: up to thirty days in jail and a one thousand,
- 12:20Speaker 1: five hundred dollars fine and possibly a very awkward explanation
- 12:24Speaker 1: to the firefighters who showed up thinking your toaster was
- 12:26Speaker 1: fighting for its life.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Now in more head, same idea different state line.
- 12:31Speaker 1: All right, intentionally setting a false alarm is a misdemeanor.
- 12:35Speaker 1: And this is where it's a little different. Up to
- 12:37Speaker 1: ninety days in jail and a one thousand dollars fine.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So more jail time, less fine time.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I feel like more jail time would
- 12:46Speaker 3: be better for me. I think that could get in
- 12:48Speaker 3: shape during that time.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Hey, there you go.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Now, if someone gets hurt or it turns dangerous, this
- 12:53Speaker 1: can jump up to a felony with serious prison time.
- 12:57Speaker 1: It can be upgraded to a felony if it involves
- 12:59Speaker 1: an extreme circumstances are filing a false report or causing terror.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So the bottom line, if it's not an actual emergency,
- 13:08Speaker 1: don't accidentally become the reason the fire department shows up.
- 13:12Speaker 1: But you see this in movies all the time, where
- 13:15Speaker 1: characters walk up and they need to cause chaos for
- 13:18Speaker 1: whatever reason, and they'll just yoink a fire alarm and
- 13:21Speaker 1: they just kind of walk on out of there like
- 13:22Speaker 1: it's nothing.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I'm telling you, we need a movie where it's like
- 13:26Speaker 3: post the action sequences and it's like dealing with the
- 13:30Speaker 3: fire alarm repercussions. Who's cleaning up the streets after the
- 13:33Speaker 3: car just barreled through all of the vendors.
- 13:36Speaker 5: That's the movie I want to see one thousand percent.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I have some horrible news.
- 13:45Speaker 1: What you know how we start to show every day
- 13:48Speaker 1: at six, or not start the show every day, but
- 13:51Speaker 1: our first kind of break of the day we talk
- 13:53Speaker 1: about little victories. Yes, do you remember what my little
- 13:56Speaker 1: victory was this morning?
- 13:58Speaker 3: Oh? That you were gonna eat the rest your Jimmy
- 14:00Speaker 3: changa that you got at Casa Mexico yesterday.
- 14:03Speaker 1: For blood, which you also have a chance to win
- 14:06Speaker 1: a fifty dollars stiff get two Cossam Mexico on the
- 14:08Speaker 1: Big ninety eight point seven Facebook page. Go see the video,
- 14:11Speaker 1: comment the keyword We asked you to comment, and you
- 14:14Speaker 1: could be the winner.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Yeah. Wait, so what's your bad news?
- 14:17Speaker 1: I was in the I literally just went to go
- 14:20Speaker 1: into the break room. M I was grabbing an energy
- 14:22Speaker 1: drink out of the fridge and I was looking around.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I do not see my my styrofoam tupperware with my
- 14:28Speaker 1: Chimmy choga in it.
- 14:30Speaker 2: What I wasn't in there? How?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Okay, you seem really calm.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Well, here's I'm hoping.
- 14:39Speaker 3: By the way, if someone messes with my food, I'm
- 14:41Speaker 3: like irate.
- 14:42Speaker 4: So I feel like you're very calm.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Here's what I'm hoping.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I'm hoping that someone maybe just moved it or they
- 14:48Speaker 1: were rearranging the fridge and it's somewhere. But yeah, if
- 14:51Speaker 1: it got like taken or thrown in the garbage, I
- 14:54Speaker 1: will not be thrilled.
- 14:56Speaker 4: This is terrible. How would we find out? Are you
- 15:01Speaker 4: so well?
- 15:02Speaker 2: Email the whole building?
- 15:04Speaker 4: Kind of God, yeah, I'll email the whole building.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Do you think because that fridge is pretty stuffed, So
- 15:11Speaker 3: maybe after when we're done with the show, go in
- 15:14Speaker 3: there and like move some stuff and see if you
- 15:16Speaker 3: can find it, because I can't imagine someone took it.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I would hope not.
- 15:21Speaker 4: That's wild.
- 15:22Speaker 3: It is literally it's ate something in the morning. If
- 15:25Speaker 3: someone took your food at ate something in the morning,
- 15:27Speaker 3: who is it in this building that would have done it? Okay,
- 15:30Speaker 3: we need to do some investigation later, and we need
- 15:34Speaker 3: an update if you find it, because maybe someone just
- 15:37Speaker 3: moved some stuff to get there.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Stuff that's oh gig, well if someone took it.
- 15:44Speaker 3: If I don't see you eating this burrito at whatever,
- 15:47Speaker 3: this chimney changa at whatever time.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Do you think it's so sad for you?
- 15:52Speaker 2: This kind of makes me think.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Do you think that is one of the top five,
- 15:55Speaker 1: maybe even top three?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Like unwritten rules of work etiquette.
- 16:01Speaker 4: To not take someone else's food. Duh.
- 16:03Speaker 1: There's this radio guy that I really respect and he
- 16:06Speaker 1: recently just retired and he actually wrote a book and
- 16:09Speaker 1: it was titled something of this nature shower. Show up
- 16:13Speaker 1: on time, and don't steal things from the workplace fridge.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Okay, that's yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 3: No one ever steals my stuff because I'm the only
- 16:21Speaker 3: vegan here, so no one's checking for my.
- 16:24Speaker 1: If it says Angie, we just leave it in there.
- 16:32Speaker 6: Starting off the day with something good, This is Gabe's
- 16:36Speaker 6: good News on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Today's Gabe's good News comes from right here in North Dakota,
- 16:44Speaker 1: where a man's best friend is putting his nose to work.
- 16:49Speaker 1: This dog's name is I believe Spore.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, imagine it wasn't a dog. I was
- 16:54Speaker 3: concerned for one second.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Spore is a seventeen month old German wire haired pointer
- 17:00Speaker 1: who's become these states first professionally trained mold detection dog.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Instead of sniffing out you know, drugs are missing people,
- 17:10Speaker 1: Spore can detect hidden mold lurking behind walls, under floors,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and in places people can't see easily. That means homeowners
