- 0:02Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:04Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:11Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Look, I'm not giving them a pass. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: just giving them a pass till next Sunday. Then we'll
- 0:18Speaker 1: see how it looks. Can't wait for the folks gonna
- 0:22Speaker 1: be like that. Either that or we're going all the way.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Seemed to have a good effect on James Harden. I
- 0:27Speaker 1: remember that Reddit posts a few years ago. That's a
- 0:30Speaker 1: deep dive on me. Alex, you're gonna to explain it.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Give him a chance, and you explained to him how
- 0:34Speaker 1: he might be able to improve himself. I know, this
- 0:36Speaker 1: is crazy. That's what I always thought education was. Well,
- 0:39Speaker 1: he's got a case. Dan reeves over coreal every day,
- 0:42Speaker 1: you know, seven days a week and twice on Sunday.
- 0:45Speaker 1: He's got a five, a sub five hundred record, never
- 0:48Speaker 1: won a playoff game, not have a sub five. Yes
- 0:51Speaker 1: he does. He does not have a sub five hundred record,
- 0:53Speaker 1: and he is basically the architect or the modern passing.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Oh really, well, then we view banks should be in
- 0:58Speaker 1: New Bank, is in the Hall of Fame? Is they
- 1:00Speaker 1: need to redo the website. I think it throws me
- 1:03Speaker 1: off in the Football reference yeah, the grids and all
- 1:05Speaker 1: the numbers. Yeah, but the nerds love that. They love that.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Own I need is Patriots Unfiltered fueled by Duncan. All right,
- 1:18Speaker 1: welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Let's Stadium.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It's a busy stadium, it really is. The Patriots have
- 1:25Speaker 1: their premiere tonight because which which is the number one
- 1:31Speaker 1: fundraising event for the Patriots Foundations. So that's a huge event,
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know, like all the high rollers are here, the
- 1:38Speaker 1: whole team will be here. It's a major, major event.
- 1:41Speaker 1: And then during the day we had what we call
- 1:43Speaker 1: photo Day, which players come through and they do line
- 1:47Speaker 1: reads and you make sure you got everybody's photo for
- 1:50Speaker 1: the broadcast for all the networks and and so you know,
- 1:54Speaker 1: that's been going on. And then in between that the
- 1:56Speaker 1: players have their own stuff going on, probably a walk
- 2:00Speaker 1: for practice and practice and all that. So it is
- 2:03Speaker 1: like this place is hopping for a Thursday. Really yeah, yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know ten days out too, you know, so it's
- 2:09Speaker 1: not even like it's a Thursday of a game week,
- 2:11Speaker 1: which is obviously, you know, a busy time but you're right,
- 2:14Speaker 1: it is bustling. Yeah, the stadium right now. And I'll
- 2:16Speaker 1: pop out for a little bit, go into the locker room,
- 2:18Speaker 1: come back, and then pop out for practice and come back.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So it might be the first us return from from practice. Yeah,
- 2:25Speaker 1: we're gonna have to alter that, I know. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 1: because Evan's going to be from practice coming with his
- 2:31Speaker 1: practice reports. But and plus not to mention all the
- 2:33Speaker 1: moves yesterday of the practice squads, and yeah, we should
- 2:36Speaker 1: probably um the nuts and bolts of that, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 1: talk right off most of the cuts. I think we
- 2:41Speaker 1: had sort of Mike Mike has and the practice squad editions, right, yeah,
- 2:48Speaker 1: all right, when I start with with the I got
- 2:51Speaker 1: the practice squad guys, because starting with Linna Bowden junior,
- 2:54Speaker 1: who is it is? Um on the big board, Paul,
- 2:58Speaker 1: that is that sixty eighth? No, that was an offensive
- 3:02Speaker 1: I was definitely a lineout. Okay, that's there was a
- 3:04Speaker 1: sixty eight on the field. There was no sixty eight
- 3:06Speaker 1: in the locker room. So maybe maybe just to try out,
- 3:08Speaker 1: but definitely he was an offensive alignement. So but I'll
- 3:11Speaker 1: run down the practice squad starting offensive line, which is
- 3:14Speaker 1: Bill Murray, James Farence and Cody Russey. Cody Russy did
- 3:16Speaker 1: make the practice squad tough for David Devin Asiassi though
- 3:21Speaker 1: got signed. He was like hanging out here, I think,
- 3:22Speaker 1: waiting to sign here and then got swapped up by
- 3:25Speaker 1: the Bengals. So they did retain both Matt Sokol and
- 3:28Speaker 1: Jalen Widermeyer, two tight ends. Who Widermeyer has been here
- 3:31Speaker 1: a week not even maybe a little bit more moving
- 3:35Speaker 1: on little Jordan Trey Nixon, Lynn Bowden. So three receivers
- 3:39Speaker 1: now on the practice squad. Running backs they brought back
- 3:43Speaker 1: Kevin Harris and JJ Taylor, So you know, Mike J. J.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Taylor get thrust in action. We're still waiting to see
- 3:48Speaker 1: on time Montgomery what happens there. Then on the defensive
- 3:51Speaker 1: side of all, Lebrian Rage. I remind Farms up front too.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I don't know Farms qualifies as a rookie still. I
- 3:56Speaker 1: know he was in the USFL for a little bit.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Not sure what his age is exactly, but um, but
- 4:00Speaker 1: of course Lebron Ray Alabama, Uh Cameron mcgron, Harvey longie
- 4:04Speaker 1: back as well, and then uh Terrence Mitchell cornerback veteran
- 4:09Speaker 1: and Brad Hawkins who was in other safety. So I
- 4:12Speaker 1: mean that's really so okay. So that's that's the practice squad.
- 4:16Speaker 1: And then who were guys that got cut and who
- 4:18Speaker 1: didn't get to the practice squad. Dah, I'm gonna have
- 4:20Speaker 1: to do those one to the top. I don't have
- 4:22Speaker 1: the list of exact cuts, but um, well, I can
- 4:25Speaker 1: tell you a couple of noteworthy guy. Henry Anderson was
- 4:28Speaker 1: put on IR um and I believe he is already,
- 4:32Speaker 1: if not already been announced, he's reached an injury settlement
- 4:36Speaker 1: with the team. So um, so Henry Anderson again two
- 4:40Speaker 1: years now, we've seen very little of him. I think
- 4:42Speaker 1: he played in a couple of games last year, if
- 4:44Speaker 1: if barely. Yeah um. And then yeah, Christian Wilkerson as well.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Christian Wilkerson also put on IR so he's done for
- 4:52Speaker 1: the year. Those are the two. Those are the two
- 4:55Speaker 1: injury reserve guys. The twenty four. Uh, you know, some
- 4:59Speaker 1: surprise this Justin Bethel, maybe a little bit of Justin
- 5:02Speaker 1: Bethel was was a little bit of a surprise. Absolutely,
- 5:05Speaker 1: Sherman a little bit of a surprise. And he just
- 5:06Speaker 1: signed with the Broncos practice squad. So he's found Colorado
- 5:10Speaker 1: out of Colorado, so kind of going home for him.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I thought that was a little bit of a surprise.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I thought he was one of those guys a lot
- 5:15Speaker 1: of people say, I just would have assumed he was
- 5:17Speaker 1: back on the practice squad. No, No, he's one that
- 5:21Speaker 1: got away. But so all of those guys that might
- 5:23Speaker 1: just mentioned, except for Lee Bowden, were cut, yeah, and
- 5:26Speaker 1: resigned to the practice. So there's now sixteen guys in
- 5:30Speaker 1: the practice squad, So fifteen of them were cut and resigned, right, right,
- 5:34Speaker 1: So you're really talking about what like like fifteen more
- 5:36Speaker 1: guys that were actually not even it's ten more, you know. Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 1: A Siasi, as Mike said, was here, reportedly here at
- 5:44Speaker 1: the at the stadium when he found out that Cincinnati
- 5:46Speaker 1: claimed him off waivers. That was the only cut that
- 5:49Speaker 1: the Patriots had that was claimed off waivers. And I
- 5:52Speaker 1: do want to add um really classy tweet that we
- 5:56Speaker 1: all see it from his dad, Dave Asiasi, thanking us
- 5:59Speaker 1: for the coverage, thanking specifically Evan Um. I think he
- 6:03Speaker 1: had a little bit of a relationship with Edim because
- 6:06Speaker 1: he talked to him in Vegas. Um. You know, I
- 6:08Speaker 1: just I thought that was a really classy. You know,
- 6:11Speaker 1: it didn't go well for for Devin here, but he
- 6:13Speaker 1: put up something with Bill Belichick thanking him specifically and
- 6:17Speaker 1: personally for you know, trying to developing. Lets never know
- 6:21Speaker 1: where you're gonna do. I just thought that was a
- 6:23Speaker 1: really classy move. And I'm not saying that all the
- 6:26Speaker 1: parents don't do that, but you know, he happened to
- 6:28Speaker 1: reach out to us, and you know, let's face it,
- 6:30Speaker 1: we're you know, yeah, that's all it takes for us.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You give us, yeah, you know, mister Myers, mister Assiasse,
- 6:36Speaker 1: you give us the time of day, and we love
- 6:37Speaker 1: you forever. So thank you to Dave ASSISI for that.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Were you surprised that? And and I could be wrong
- 6:44Speaker 1: here because I just read this last night, but um,
- 6:47Speaker 1: they kept all the linebackers, you know, for the most
- 6:51Speaker 1: Like everybody's still here? Is now? Is there a lob
- 6:53Speaker 1: jam now at linebacker? Like were you count in practice squad? No?
- 6:58Speaker 1: I mean like so well, they cut camera grown, they
- 7:01Speaker 1: cut Hotbrey longy okay, but Tovai is still here. Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 1: you know Mac Wilson, Anthony Jennings seven seven seven linebacker
- 7:13Speaker 1: and one of those is just a special teamer like
- 7:15Speaker 1: DeMarcus Mitchell's really just a special team. Well that would
- 7:18Speaker 1: be that would be that he'd be the eighth one. Okay,
- 7:19Speaker 1: all right, you are accounting, you know, Bentley McMillan to
- 7:21Speaker 1: buy Wilson, and then on the outside, Uch Judean and Jennings.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So who do you think gets to play? I mean,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I think that they'll all probably get to play a
- 7:29Speaker 1: little bit. I mean, I think probably the details lie
- 7:32Speaker 1: in the game plan between Tavai, McMillan, and Wilson. I think,
- 7:35Speaker 1: you know, I think generally you're gonna get Judon, Jennings,
- 7:37Speaker 1: and Ucha in roles every game. But I think in
- 7:39Speaker 1: the middle is where they probably experiment a little bit. Uh.
- 7:43Speaker 1: You know. I think McMillan's probably the most balanced of
- 7:45Speaker 1: the three. I think Toby's a little more of a
- 7:47Speaker 1: run stopper, and I think Wilson's a little bit more
- 7:48Speaker 1: of a coverage guy. See, I'm gonna go a little
- 7:50Speaker 1: bit even more. I would say Bentley and Judon are
- 7:53Speaker 1: the only two that I know will play. I think
- 7:56Speaker 1: Jennings is certainly being given an opportunity to be on
- 7:59Speaker 1: the other side of Judo. How he performs, we'll see
- 8:02Speaker 1: Ouch I think is going to be given the opportunity,
- 8:04Speaker 1: like might just sort of be that situational pass rushing
- 8:08Speaker 1: um and then Mac Wilson, Ray Kawa, McMillan and to
- 8:14Speaker 1: Bay like I don't again, I don't really see what
- 8:16Speaker 1: they see in to Bay, but they play them a
- 8:18Speaker 1: lot right now, so I can see how those guys
- 8:21Speaker 1: end up, how much they end up next to Bentley
- 8:24Speaker 1: and then in Wilson's case, I think in place of
- 8:26Speaker 1: Bentley in subpack. I think that's a good observation pause.
- 8:29Speaker 1: How much are they really going to play four linebackers
- 8:31Speaker 1: at once? I mean they did in the preseason, but
- 8:32Speaker 1: I doubt once they get into the game, it's it's
- 8:34Speaker 1: probably just going to be three guys. And then you know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: what's the what's the sub package look like? And does
- 8:39Speaker 1: Jennings get a chance to rush too? You know that's
- 8:41Speaker 1: some sound kind of curious because I think he showed
- 8:43Speaker 1: a little flash in that too, coming forward off the edge.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And you know there were times like that last preseason game.
- 8:52Speaker 1: It was, Um, I wish I had my notebook in
- 8:54Speaker 1: front of me, but it was wise, gotcha guy in barmore?
- 9:02Speaker 1: Um kind of all at the same time we're pointing
- 9:04Speaker 1: behind me. Sorry, I just thought you'd find that it's
- 9:07Speaker 1: who is your favorite local sports radio personality? I didn't
- 9:09Speaker 1: make it, huh, coming in top twenty four percent Zolac eighteen,
- 9:13Speaker 1: Bertrand at fifteen then have been a big drop down
- 9:15Speaker 1: to Tony mass at eight, Marloney eight, Fred Toucher six.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I don't know, well, not much love for fourtyer. I
- 9:23Speaker 1: didn't I didn't make there. No, I didn't make it
- 9:26Speaker 1: in well, I don't know. Can I just tell you
- 9:29Speaker 1: that this survey, and this is serious, now serious, this
- 9:33Speaker 1: survey is what we our podcast right not only made
- 9:37Speaker 1: it in we we finished third in it. We weren't listed.
- 9:40Speaker 1: This is all right in. They're all options they give you,
- 9:43Speaker 1: Like Mike felt like that you could check off what
- 9:45Speaker 1: you want. We were right in and we finished in
- 9:48Speaker 1: third for sports podcasts. Remember right last year? I do?
- 9:53Speaker 1: How could I first? We're SOCY the world's original podcast.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Um so any so let's go to cornerback. Sean Wade
- 10:03Speaker 1: made it right, Sean Wade didn't make it. Terrence Mitchell
- 10:06Speaker 1: didn't Sean Wade. But Mitchell's now on practice dippering Mitchell back.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I mean it's uh. I mean, I know we'll get
- 10:13Speaker 1: into this later, but I do think it's a little
- 10:14Speaker 1: bit of a youth movement at the cornerback position. But yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones, is he going to stay on the outside
- 10:20Speaker 1: if so, you know, it's Mills and Jones on the
- 10:22Speaker 1: outside and Miles Brian on the inside, and then it's
- 10:24Speaker 1: two rookies and Sean Wade on the active roster, guys
- 10:27Speaker 1: that you know haven't really played yet obviously the rookies haven't.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And then Mitchell is kind of the backup of that
- 10:33Speaker 1: veteran on the practice squad that you're able to have now,
- 10:35Speaker 1: so we'll see. I'm curious how those guys, if those
- 10:38Speaker 1: guys are able to play. I mean, if you get
- 10:39Speaker 1: past the top three, you're getting into unknown territory pretty quick,
- 10:43Speaker 1: especially with those young guys. So just to round out
- 10:45Speaker 1: the rest of the defense, what's the safety depth chart
- 10:47Speaker 1: look like? Yeah, I mean it's I mean, it depends
- 10:50Speaker 1: on a Yeah, it depends on how you feel about
- 10:53Speaker 1: Schooler if you're gonna I'm slipping him into the special
- 10:56Speaker 1: team's of Bracken in my depth chart. But yeah, but
- 10:59Speaker 1: you know it's it's seven, it's sorry, five guys. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: mean it's Dugger, mccordy, Phillips, Peppers, bledsoe. It depends on
- 11:04Speaker 1: how you would consider Miles Bryant. Yeah, I think some
- 11:07Speaker 1: people would call him a safety. Someone would call him
- 11:09Speaker 1: a slot corner. And it seems like Jonathan Jones could
- 11:12Speaker 1: also be in that, but he's gotten away from it.
- 11:14Speaker 1: He's playing outside corner. So I heard something interesting. We wait,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I can wait for that. I can table that until
- 11:19Speaker 1: we're done with the roster. I suppose we shouldn't. We
- 11:21Speaker 1: shouldn't cross too many topics. Just something about Jonathan Jones.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'll get back too later. But yeah, I don't think.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I think it was probably as a whole, the least
- 11:32Speaker 1: surprising set of cuts that I can remember. The Paul
- 11:35Speaker 1: Patriots all Access coming in third, coming in third, first favorite. Yeah,
- 11:40Speaker 1: but that's I'm just talking about Patriots on filter got
- 11:43Speaker 1: in this last year. I would take a WEE can
- 11:45Speaker 1: get here? Yeah? Sorry? Sorry? Who do we pay to
- 11:48Speaker 1: get on the survey? Because that's what you need to do, right? Yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 1: they keep popping up. Sorry, Yeah, we don't care about
- 11:57Speaker 1: that stuff, right. It stops you when you're so how
- 12:00Speaker 1: about gasper and Murray finished ahead of alone. For mego
- 12:07Speaker 1: Gasper and Murrays is a unique Saturday right, very niche
- 12:11Speaker 1: niche show. They tied at five percent. Let's move over
- 12:14Speaker 1: to the offense and go over the depth charts for
- 12:17Speaker 1: the offense. Where are we on offensive line? Yeah, I
- 12:20Speaker 1: think it's interesting. I mean I think, you know, good
- 12:22Speaker 1: for Chasing Hines. I mean he started slow, wasn't even
- 12:25Speaker 1: out there and managed to get a roster spot, so
- 12:27Speaker 1: I think he's a little bit of an unknown and
- 12:28Speaker 1: maybe you know something that pushed will Sherman off. Yadi
- 12:33Speaker 1: Kad just wasn't out there on Monday, but he was
- 12:35Speaker 1: back out on Wednesday, so that was a good sign
- 12:37Speaker 1: in terms of just you know the depth that Justin
- 12:39Speaker 1: Harran both stayed, Chasing Hines stayed. And then you know
- 12:44Speaker 1: the top line, the starting five, So is that eight linemen? Yep? Yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: Now I thought this was interesting. Some people thought that
- 12:50Speaker 1: that there their light on lineman, which I think eight
- 12:53Speaker 1: is a regular number eight or nine, and with the
- 12:57Speaker 1: expanded practice squad there's always multiple offensive lineman. So predictably
- 13:02Speaker 1: they brought back Ferns Yea and Billy and Dan Cody,
- 13:08Speaker 1: so you have now you have eleven offensive lineman in
- 13:11Speaker 1: your program, and unlike other positions, offensive lineman can plug
- 13:15Speaker 1: and play. Yeah, do you know what I mean? Like
- 13:18Speaker 1: James Barrens can play center if David Andrews goes down
- 13:21Speaker 1: right and sure, you know, and guard and yeah yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And I mean like because Bill had made a comment
- 13:27Speaker 1: earlier this week which I thought was very accurate about
- 13:31Speaker 1: you're not really getting impact players off your practice squad
- 13:36Speaker 1: around the league if you looked at it. I'm paraphrasing,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but you're not necessarily looking to bolster your practice squad
- 13:43Speaker 1: with a guy you think is going to be the star,
- 13:45Speaker 1: you know, two years from now. But offensive lineman can
- 13:49Speaker 1: plug and play like you can get you know, a
- 13:51Speaker 1: requisite performance from an offensive lineman off your practice squad.
- 13:54Speaker 1: That's not out of the realm, right, I mean, did
- 13:57Speaker 1: you guys agree with that? Sure? Yeah, totally. I mean
- 14:00Speaker 1: I mean, like I said, I just I'm intrigued by
- 14:02Speaker 1: Jason Hines, and you know is that I just think
- 14:04Speaker 1: I think your depth gets killed pretty quick. If and
- 14:07Speaker 1: when you cold Strange gets hurt, you're you're right into
- 14:09Speaker 1: a rookie again. I mean, I know cold strangehip too,
- 14:11Speaker 1: but so one of the guys that was cut and
- 14:13Speaker 1: not brought back was Hambright. Hambright um this year, Durant,
- 14:17Speaker 1: yes year, Durant who who was here to last year,
- 14:19Speaker 1: Harrington Hambright, who we thought was sort of making a
- 14:22Speaker 1: push earlier in camp and he kind of petered out
- 14:24Speaker 1: a little bit. Yeah, yeah, he did. Let's move over
- 14:26Speaker 1: to wide receiver. So I think you got some questions
- 14:30Speaker 1: just because you only have four guys healthy right now,
- 14:33Speaker 1: and Parker, agilore Borne and Myers, and even Myers, has
- 14:36Speaker 1: you been wearing like a sleeve on his leg? He
- 14:38Speaker 1: was got a little banged up in that last game,
- 14:39Speaker 1: So I think it's h obviously Parker's in here. So
- 14:43Speaker 1: that does give a little bit of a new twist
- 14:45Speaker 1: of things, but all otherwise, it looks a lot of
- 14:47Speaker 1: the same like it was last year in terms of
- 14:49Speaker 1: who's going to be rolling out there a week one
- 14:50Speaker 1: other than Parker. And I'm just wondering what the plan
- 14:53Speaker 1: would be. I was wondering if they were planning on
- 14:56Speaker 1: bringing someone from the outside onto the roster for what
- 15:01Speaker 1: Thornton if they put Thornton on ir. So there's a
- 15:04Speaker 1: couple of things in mind here. The fact that he
- 15:06Speaker 1: hasn't been placed on IR. Does that in any way
- 15:09Speaker 1: make you think that they think it might not be
- 15:12Speaker 1: four weeks? Four games he has to miss. You tell me, Paul,
- 15:15Speaker 1: you broke both your collar bones. Is there any chance
- 15:18Speaker 1: you're playing a football game in four weeks? Well, I
- 15:20Speaker 1: mean it would be six weeks by the time it happens, right, Like,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you know, when we get to that foot, My guess
- 15:25Speaker 1: is he's still going to end up on IR at
- 15:27Speaker 1: some point. You know, maybe they want to bring a
- 15:30Speaker 1: guy like Lee Bowden and give him, you know, a
- 15:32Speaker 1: week of practice and see if he's, Yeah, if he's
- 15:35Speaker 1: capable of doing something. I think he's more time Montgomery.
- 15:38Speaker 1: And but there's no rush, right, Like they've got like
- 15:41Speaker 1: six seven days before they have to put him on IR. Right,
- 15:44Speaker 1: they can put him on IR anytime they want, That's
- 15:46Speaker 1: what I mean. Like, like they don't have to put
- 15:48Speaker 1: him on IR. Oh they don't. But like if they
- 15:50Speaker 1: want to open up a roster spot, they can do
- 15:52Speaker 1: that at any time. Correct. It just doesn't seem at
- 15:55Speaker 1: this point like there's any real sense of urgency to
- 15:57Speaker 1: open up either one of the Montgomery or Thornton spots
- 16:00Speaker 1: to put someone else on the active roster at least
- 16:02Speaker 1: right now. Yeah, the Montgomery one, to me makes more
- 16:04Speaker 1: sense because I think I think there's a lot of
- 16:08Speaker 1: uncertainty of you know, on his injury. I would think
- 16:11Speaker 1: a broken collar bone is more of a plus finite.
- 16:14Speaker 1: They had a procedure, so they they're in there and
- 16:16Speaker 1: they've seen it, and I mean, you know, they know, Okay,
- 16:20Speaker 1: it's going to be this much to right. That's why
- 16:22Speaker 1: I said, like, that's why I'm wondering, you know, maybe
- 16:24Speaker 1: do they think that it won't be four full weeks
- 16:27Speaker 1: maybe four full games. I don't know. The procedure quickens
- 16:30Speaker 1: it up, you know, I don't know. I mean, the
- 16:32Speaker 1: sooner the better. I just, uh, you know, what what
- 16:34Speaker 1: are expectations going to be like for him when he
- 16:36Speaker 1: gets back, and how you know, how much can they
- 16:38Speaker 1: get him involved and kind of salvage this year after
- 16:41Speaker 1: such a promising start. I mean, you know, I don't
- 16:43Speaker 1: want to overstate Montgomery, but those two guys, it's just
- 16:45Speaker 1: they had good camps. They were had an element of
- 16:48Speaker 1: new and excitement, and now with the running back injuries,
- 16:51Speaker 1: the rookies running backs didn't really perform. Like I said,
- 16:54Speaker 1: you're kind of looking other than DeVante Parker. This is
- 16:56Speaker 1: kind of the same you know, select piece of the
- 16:58Speaker 1: offensive line. This is kind of the same off you
- 17:00Speaker 1: rolled out last year. So Freddie, just to get I
- 17:02Speaker 1: can give you the exact because I actually do have
- 17:05Speaker 1: I have this on my oh yeah, you do my phone. Um,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you can sort of go over this. These are the
- 17:14Speaker 1: players that were cut. Um and I'll pause after everyone
- 17:17Speaker 1: and you can tell me if they're on the practice squatch.
- 17:19Speaker 1: So Devin Asiassi obviously claimed by Cincinnati, Drew Deja, Lais
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yasa Durant, Arlington, Hambright, Josh Hammond, Kevin Harris, Brad Hawkins, Oil,
- 17:32Speaker 1: Jordan Humphrey, Cam mcgron, Bill Murray, Trey Nixon, Jeremiah Farms,
- 17:39Speaker 1: Lebrian Ray, Cody Russey, Will Sherman, Matt Sokel, JJ Taylor,
- 17:47Speaker 1: Tristan Viscayano, Nope, Nate Wheland, No Wildland. Not sure about
- 17:53Speaker 1: that one, Jayland, Weidermeyer, Yes, a pledge pin Hey, Henry
- 17:59Speaker 1: Anne person is I said on IR and I believe
- 18:03Speaker 1: he has reached a settlement. Christian Wilkerson also on IR
- 18:06Speaker 1: Um justin Bethel, No you say no, no, no, we
- 18:15Speaker 1: had we had a good thing go no, okay, James
- 18:17Speaker 1: Ferns yes, Harvey Longi yes, Terrence Mitchell yes, okay. And
- 18:21Speaker 1: the only other roster related thing is Daniel Equality is
- 18:25Speaker 1: suspended for the first two games, so he does not
- 18:29Speaker 1: count on the fifty three man roster. Huh okay, so
- 18:32Speaker 1: he is. He was placed on reserve suspended list by
- 18:35Speaker 1: the team, so he doesn't even have to make the
- 18:36Speaker 1: roster initially, he just automatically, Well they did. They retained him.
- 18:40Speaker 1: They did retain him because that's what the reserve suspended
- 18:43Speaker 1: list means. Um. But no. I mean they could two
- 18:47Speaker 1: weeks could go by and they could say, well, okay,
- 18:50Speaker 1: well we're not going to activate you. He's gotta go.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I just feel like if you're a player like that
- 18:54Speaker 1: on the bubble, like couldn't you just like, man, I
- 18:56Speaker 1: just gotta get busted for steroids and get a couple
- 18:58Speaker 1: games suspension so that I can kind to the roster.
- 19:00Speaker 1: You know. It's like, speaking of the suspensions, Josh Gordon
- 19:03Speaker 1: made a practice squad, Oh did he? Yeah? I forget
- 19:06Speaker 1: when signed him, but he's he's on somebody's practice sorry.
- 19:09Speaker 1: When he leave Kansas City, was that who who got
- 19:12Speaker 1: rid of him? Yeah. Yeah, they had nothing but good
- 19:15Speaker 1: things to say about what he did off the field.
- 19:17Speaker 1: He's just he's just h yeah, he's just not the same.
- 19:21Speaker 1: He's not that guy in twenty You're not that guy.
- 19:24Speaker 1: You're not that guy anymore. Matt, Did I do that one? Right?
- 19:27Speaker 1: Thank you? He could be one of that gets into
- 19:30Speaker 1: my could have been coffee book. Yeah right, you know,
- 19:34Speaker 1: opportunity missed. And then I mean, just why did he
- 19:36Speaker 1: lose the He just wasn't even close to the same
- 19:38Speaker 1: player when he was here, Like there was no I mean,
- 19:40Speaker 1: he's a big guy. He had a couple of flashes,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but he just wasn't dynamic like he was before. Just
- 19:46Speaker 1: lost that explosion that he had, that that straightaway speed
- 19:48Speaker 1: that just never really seemed to show up. He was
- 19:50Speaker 1: more of a contested receiver by the time he got here. Ye.
- 19:53Speaker 1: So that's the roster, as you know, and it will change. Um,
- 19:56Speaker 1: this isn't set in stone now. There'll be movements on
- 19:59Speaker 1: an off the practice squad. They'll be guys cut down
- 20:03Speaker 1: the road, the running backs probably maybe worth a little
- 20:06Speaker 1: bit more, you know, just discussion with the Montgomery uncertainty,
- 20:10Speaker 1: with James White retiring, I mean, I wrote about it today.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Just it felt like going into camp you had a
- 20:15Speaker 1: really good group of young guys and some veterans you
- 20:18Speaker 1: brought in. I mean, I don't want to make too
- 20:20Speaker 1: big of a deal out of replacing Brandon Bolden, but
- 20:23Speaker 1: you know, at least you had that kind of reliable
- 20:24Speaker 1: veteran there as a third back, because you know, Stevenson
- 20:27Speaker 1: and Harris were kind of in and out of the
- 20:28Speaker 1: lineup last year. It was, you know, it didn't really
- 20:30Speaker 1: have both of them until you know, certain points in
- 20:33Speaker 1: the season. I forget exactly when, but I don't know.
- 20:36Speaker 1: It's just it feels like now you're kind of just
- 20:37Speaker 1: going in with those two guys again. It's a little
- 20:39Speaker 1: bit weird. Not in neither of the rookies really really
- 20:41Speaker 1: hoping that Montgomery would be this year's Bolden. Yeah, maybe
- 20:45Speaker 1: even a little better. Oh me too. It seemed like
- 20:47Speaker 1: he was headed for that for sure, you know, and
- 20:50Speaker 1: they retained peer Strong, but but cut Cavin Harris. How
- 20:54Speaker 1: does that play out? I mean, did they see something
- 20:55Speaker 1: and Strong is he going to be able to do? Yeah?
- 20:58Speaker 1: Exactly put the all the ground twice. We can't have it. Yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I was underwhelmed with both running backs. I thought there
- 21:05Speaker 1: was some flashes every once in a while. I know
- 21:07Speaker 1: Pierre Strong can run. I honestly didn't really see it
- 21:10Speaker 1: on the practice field the way I saw it with
- 21:12Speaker 1: some other guys. I thought Mack Wilson his speed showed
- 21:15Speaker 1: up on the practice field as compared to some of
- 21:18Speaker 1: the other linebackers. Obviously Thornton compared to the other wide receivers,
- 21:23Speaker 1: his speed showed up. I didn't think Strong looked any
- 21:27Speaker 1: quicker or faster than the other running backs. Yeah, I mean,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I feel like we had a little bit of an
- 21:32Speaker 1: impression made upon us by Ramandre last year in practice
- 21:34Speaker 1: of just his kind of unique way that he sighed
- 21:37Speaker 1: and the way he moves. But the only thing that
- 21:40Speaker 1: popped about Kevin Harris was his thighs. I thought, I think,
- 21:44Speaker 1: I think Kevin Harris can be between the tackles option. Yeah,
- 21:49Speaker 1: you know at some point, you know, obviously, Fred You're right,
- 21:52Speaker 1: I mean the ball security thing. And again I know
- 21:55Speaker 1: people are like, well he was down by contact, Like
- 21:57Speaker 1: build doesn't care, and he's right not to care. Like
- 22:01Speaker 1: you going to leave that up to the judgment of
- 22:02Speaker 1: the reff. You need to you need to finish the
- 22:04Speaker 1: play with the ball, right, and when you get I
- 22:08Speaker 1: don't know, ten touches, fifteen touches during the course of
- 22:10Speaker 1: the summer, and the ball doesn't end in your hands
- 22:13Speaker 1: a couple of times. That's don't like the play ends
- 22:16Speaker 1: when you hand the ball to the reff right. Yeah, well,
- 22:19Speaker 1: now that I mean to connect that to JJ Taylor,
- 22:21Speaker 1: who had, you know, similar issues when you got into
- 22:23Speaker 1: the vegul of the season. You know, is he gonna
- 22:25Speaker 1: be a call up? Is he gonna play? Are they
- 22:27Speaker 1: gonna trust him to play a significant role, like without
- 22:30Speaker 1: bolding in the mix? Are they just gonna go with
- 22:32Speaker 1: those two guys because it seems like the direction of
- 22:34Speaker 1: the offense we talked about it doesn't seem like we
- 22:36Speaker 1: need a pure third down back. We need, you know,
- 22:39Speaker 1: just guys who can do multiple things. Jake Bailey will
- 22:41Speaker 1: be kicking off. I assume probably, okay, I would assume.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I think that's probably a sound okay. Jake Bailey. His
- 22:47Speaker 1: parents were there in Vegas every day they came down.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I was not sure where he's from exactly, but they were.
- 22:52Speaker 1: But they were in attendance multiple days down in Vegas.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Nice and of course Nick Folk remains the kicker keep
- 22:58Speaker 1: on going. Yeah, the Angels, Nick Folk. So my Jonathan
- 23:02Speaker 1: Jones thought, and I wish I could credit someone because
- 23:07Speaker 1: I heard this on the radio yesterday and I don't
- 23:09Speaker 1: know if it's accurate, but the thought was that this
- 23:13Speaker 1: whole Jonathan Jones on the outside thing isn't really Jonathan
- 23:17Speaker 1: Jones on the outside. It's Miami specific because they have
- 23:20Speaker 1: two smaller lightning quick receivers and Waddle and Hill, and
- 23:25Speaker 1: you know, assuming one of them is going to be
- 23:27Speaker 1: on the outside at you know, at at times. Because
- 23:31Speaker 1: I don't think they're just gonna say that's the thing.
- 23:33Speaker 1: There's no one good enough to say you just do this.
- 23:37Speaker 1: They're gonna have to scheme the hell out of it.
- 23:40Speaker 1: But like, as an example, Pittsburgh in Week two is
- 23:43Speaker 1: going to bring Deontay Johnson in the slot with Chase
- 23:48Speaker 1: Claypool and maybe Pickens on the outside. Think, I don't
- 23:50Speaker 1: think you're gonna I don't think you're gonna have Jonathan
- 23:55Speaker 1: Jones on the outside against Chase Claypool, right, You'll have
- 23:57Speaker 1: him in the slot against Deontay Johnson. I think unlikely.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I think it's an interesting point, But I would also wonder,
- 24:03Speaker 1: like then can't you just bust out out into game
- 24:06Speaker 1: planning and then do you have a specific plan of
- 24:08Speaker 1: a backup? Especially? I mean, I would have thought it
- 24:10Speaker 1: would have been Mitchell just by default as a veteran.
- 24:12Speaker 1: But you know, I think maybe they like what they've
- 24:15Speaker 1: seen a Jack Jones. Yeah, so that's it. It could
- 24:19Speaker 1: be you know, I don't know, it's it's tough to say,
- 24:23Speaker 1: Miles Bryant, but but really this this this practice squad
- 24:28Speaker 1: is a taxi squad. Yeah, you know, they can pull
- 24:30Speaker 1: guys up and down as they need. And so I
- 24:33Speaker 1: think a Terrence Mitchell will play this year. Oh I
- 24:36Speaker 1: think you'll play, Hell, I think you'll play. I don't.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think that's a good thing, but I
- 24:40Speaker 1: think you will. But yeah, there'll be certain games where
- 24:43Speaker 1: it's like, you know what this is, I'm gonna steal
- 24:45Speaker 1: a fred fred is M. Do you need to run
- 24:46Speaker 1: to them, I'll steal a fred is M. You know,
- 24:51Speaker 1: I think if Terrence Mitchell has to get elevated off
- 24:54Speaker 1: the practice squad, it probably means the rookies aren't ready. Yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 1: Like I would love to see Jack Jones and Marcus
- 24:59Speaker 1: Jones take roles, right away in the defense. I know
- 25:02Speaker 1: that's probably unrealistic. You know, I'm you know, I'm not
- 25:05Speaker 1: gonna I'm not I'm not gonna tell you those guys
- 25:07Speaker 1: they clearly aren't ready. They're busts. No, like third and
- 25:10Speaker 1: fourth round picks don't generally just step into the NFL,
- 25:14Speaker 1: and especially at that position and dominate. I mean, that's
- 25:18Speaker 1: that's asking a lot. Do we have an SID No
- 25:20Speaker 1: to the last time there were three guys in the
- 25:22Speaker 1: same position group with the same last name. I don't know.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I don't know. Definitely an SID fact. Yes, I'm surprised. Well,
- 25:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna be nice. I'm trying. I'm trying to be different,
- 25:33Speaker 1: all right, trying to be different, not not my regular
- 25:36Speaker 1: continkerus self, all right. Eight five five five hundred is
- 25:40Speaker 1: the ACE ticket hot line, web radio. It's not gonna last.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Dot com is the email address. Yeah, I just thought,
- 25:48Speaker 1: I don't know how you felt about it, Fred, you
- 25:50Speaker 1: and I didn't get a chance to talk about it much.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I felt like it was the least surprising round of
- 25:55Speaker 1: cuts that we've had in several years. Like, Yeah, I
- 25:59Speaker 1: did roster. I did a roster projection about eight days
- 26:05Speaker 1: before Coutts, and I missed five guys, Like, that's not
- 26:10Speaker 1: a lot of guys to miss that far out. And
- 26:12Speaker 1: had I done it that morning, I would have only
- 26:16Speaker 1: missed three guys. Yeah, because I had sort of rethought.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I would have missed Sean Wade, Terrence Mitchell, that was
- 26:23Speaker 1: one that I missed. I would have missed Kevin Harris
- 26:28Speaker 1: either way, because I thought they were going to keep
- 26:29Speaker 1: all five of the backs, and Chason Hines I didn't
- 26:34Speaker 1: know like he I don't know if he had done enough.
- 26:37Speaker 1: But you know, by the time Cutts rolled around, it
- 26:39Speaker 1: was pretty apparent to Marcus Mitchell was going to make it.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And I think the writing was on the wall at
- 26:44Speaker 1: Devnasiassi when he wasn't able to play against the Raiders. Yeah,
- 26:47Speaker 1: you know, I think that was like sort of a
- 26:50Speaker 1: last chance there for him. So I think overall they
- 26:56Speaker 1: only had one guy that was claimed off waivers. I
- 26:58Speaker 1: don't think you lost a lot out of like impact
- 27:02Speaker 1: players and around the cuts, and I don't think there
- 27:04Speaker 1: was anything that was overly surprising. Yeah, all right, eight
- 27:08Speaker 1: five five PATS five hundred is the a sticket hut
- 27:10Speaker 1: Line web radio at Patriot dot Com is the email address.
- 27:14Speaker 1: H Deuce has stepped out. He'll be back um once.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Because of the premiere tonight, the locker room is moved
- 27:21Speaker 1: up significantly to day. So as soon as the locker
- 27:24Speaker 1: room duties are done, he'll come back and then he'll
- 27:27Speaker 1: bounce out again for practice. Uh, and then he'll be
- 27:30Speaker 1: back again so uh, and then I will Alex be
- 27:33Speaker 1: joining us, as I believe the plan is for them
- 27:36Speaker 1: to be in the locker room and hopefully come come
- 27:39Speaker 1: back and give us a flat you know, like what's
- 27:40Speaker 1: going on in there? You've been in the locker and
- 27:42Speaker 1: did you water food? I did good now, but I
- 27:45Speaker 1: didn't talk with you. But that's okay, that's fine. I'm
- 27:48Speaker 1: still on a diet. Okay, let me uh, let's take
- 27:53Speaker 1: a break right now and uh, we'll be right back.

- 30:03Speaker 1: food and beverage, trying to get ready for the premiere,

- 30:07Speaker 1: the field. I believe this is their last day and
- 30:10Speaker 1: they're gonna get a couple of days off and then
- 30:12Speaker 1: they're gonna hit it hard. Ye getting ready to go
- 30:14Speaker 1: to Miami, which, by the way, it's out there now
- 30:17Speaker 1: so we can say they will be leaving on Tuesday're
- 30:19Speaker 1: gonna leave on Tuesday for Miami, and they'll be there
- 30:22Speaker 1: through the game, so we'll be covering, you know, all
- 30:25Speaker 1: the events down in Miami with the team throughout the
- 30:28Speaker 1: week on Patriots dot Com and the Patriots social accounts.
- 30:33Speaker 1: So um, yeah, it's we're here. We're finally here. I
- 30:37Speaker 1: don't know, did it seem like a long offseason or
- 30:40Speaker 1: a short offseason to you, Paul, I don't know. I
- 30:44Speaker 1: always feel like they go by so fast, especially the
- 30:46Speaker 1: summer part. I think, you know a lot of times,
- 30:49Speaker 1: like the the March April can kind of drag a
- 30:53Speaker 1: little bit and then all of a sudden it gets
- 30:55Speaker 1: warm and it's a blink and all of a sudden,
- 30:56Speaker 1: campus here. I just like today driving in you know,
- 30:59Speaker 1: I looked on my watch and had a side September first,
- 31:04Speaker 1: you know, like to me once, I you know, well,
- 31:07Speaker 1: for us, once training camp starts, our summer is over.
- 31:11Speaker 1: But like you know, the mark at the end of
- 31:13Speaker 1: summer for me always is the end of the longest Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I agree. I'll be putting the cover on the pool soon. Yeah. Yeah,
- 31:20Speaker 1: there ain't no going back. Matt stinks at a hot tub,
- 31:23Speaker 1: so I don't have to cover that up. Celebrity hot top,
- 31:25Speaker 1: very hot, very very hot. I can see you in
- 31:28Speaker 1: the hot tub with your gold chain and your cigar
- 31:31Speaker 1: that's changed silver, you know whatever. All right, let's get
- 31:36Speaker 1: to the A sticket outline. Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 31:41Speaker 1: So I was looking at the top ten concerns that
- 31:45Speaker 1: the Deuce posted and I was just my question is
- 31:48Speaker 1: which concern was he? Like, is the number one the
- 31:52Speaker 1: most concerning? Or is the number ten the most concerning?
- 31:55Speaker 1: You have to ask him. I don't want to speak
- 31:57Speaker 1: for him. Yeah, I don't know if they were ranked.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I don't know if he ranks. I don't know if
- 32:00Speaker 1: we k Yeah, what's your touch? Yeah, the offense, I
- 32:06Speaker 1: really was going into the season. I predicted, like I said,
- 32:10Speaker 1: ten and seven. I said they're going to go ten
- 32:12Speaker 1: and seven this year based on how strong that offense was,
- 32:14Speaker 1: and they just they're not. Yeah, they're not is what
- 32:18Speaker 1: I thought they were. And I'm kind of concerned that
- 32:20Speaker 1: they might have played around with it too much or
- 32:23Speaker 1: made too many changes, and it just doesn't it's not gonna.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I mean, I'll back you up and I'll get a
- 32:29Speaker 1: little bit more granular concern point of emphasis, you know, highlight,
- 32:34Speaker 1: whatever you want to call it. It's Mac. It's Mac.
- 32:37Speaker 1: How is Mac gonna be in year two? You know
- 32:41Speaker 1: he does seem jittery, Well he did in that last game.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Well we'll see, you know, Like I said it last show.
- 32:49Speaker 1: When it comes to the offense and the defense, I
- 32:51Speaker 1: don't know what I'm looking at. I don't know what
- 32:54Speaker 1: I'm looking at yet, and I won't know what I'm
- 32:56Speaker 1: looking at until the first couple regular season games when
- 33:00Speaker 1: you're playing for real, you know, real tackling, real hitting,
- 33:04Speaker 1: real game planning, you know, scheming for the game. Then
- 33:08Speaker 1: we'll get it. We'll all have a better idea of
- 33:10Speaker 1: what we're looking at. But right now, I have no
- 33:12Speaker 1: idea what I'm looking at. You know, yeah, I think
- 33:16Speaker 1: I have to agree with that. It just it seems
- 33:18Speaker 1: like it's it seems like it's a it's a change
- 33:21Speaker 1: that's going to have to take some time to get
- 33:24Speaker 1: used to. So I'm thinking that maybe in these first
- 33:26Speaker 1: four games we might go God bless if we had
- 33:28Speaker 1: two and two, But you know, we might go one
- 33:30Speaker 1: and three. But then the schedule kind of gets a
- 33:33Speaker 1: little easier, and I can see us just start building momentum,
- 33:35Speaker 1: and I kind of that's my hope for the season
- 33:37Speaker 1: is the team builds momentum as it moves forwards. Everybody
- 33:40Speaker 1: gets more in sync and they find the niche for
- 33:42Speaker 1: where they need to be and that, you know, we
- 33:45Speaker 1: get some success out of it. And that's kind of
- 33:46Speaker 1: my take on the season. Anyway, great show, guys that
- 33:50Speaker 1: I'm going to keep listening. Zolac has been saying they're
- 33:54Speaker 1: going to go two and Oh, they're gonna win their
- 33:56Speaker 1: first two games, and then they always and they have to.
- 34:00Speaker 1: They have to win those first two games. But so
- 34:02Speaker 1: I don't know why they have to. Yeah, I don't
- 34:03Speaker 1: know if he's guaranteeing that they're gonna win two games
- 34:06Speaker 1: or he just thinks it's there. No, you know what,
- 34:08Speaker 1: he actually used the words, and he used them right
- 34:10Speaker 1: after the Raiders game. There must wins. Yeah, I don't
- 34:14Speaker 1: really buy that. I mean, I think we saw last
- 34:17Speaker 1: year that they started two and four and they were
- 34:20Speaker 1: able to bounce out of that. Now, I'm not telling
- 34:23Speaker 1: you that that's ideal. That's the way you want to
- 34:25Speaker 1: do it all the time. It's build yourself a big
- 34:26Speaker 1: hole and rip off a long winning streak. I think
- 34:29Speaker 1: it's hard to do that now. Todd's right, after those
- 34:31Speaker 1: four games, I think, you know, in some order, it's
- 34:34Speaker 1: Detroit in Chicago and Cleveland without Wattson, you know, so there,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I think the next four it's certainly plausible that you
- 34:42Speaker 1: win all four. Yeah, you know, but I think it's
- 34:45Speaker 1: just as plausible that you lose the first four. So
- 34:48Speaker 1: I it's it's not going to be easy. And then,
- 34:54Speaker 1: unlike last year, you don't have any you know, unless
- 34:57Speaker 1: something happens with with with a stretch of those game
- 35:00Speaker 1: games that stretch drive from Thanksgiving on. That's what I'm
- 35:04Speaker 1: looking at. I want to see does the team play
- 35:05Speaker 1: better at the end of the year, because it's been
- 35:07Speaker 1: a couple of years now since we've seen that, Right,
- 35:09Speaker 1: it used to be the calling card. The last three
- 35:12Speaker 1: years it hasn't been its And it won't be easy.
- 35:15Speaker 1: It won't be easy to finish strong. With the schedule
- 35:17Speaker 1: that they have. It's you know, like the soft teams,
- 35:21Speaker 1: the non playoff teams. It's like at Minnesota on Thanksgiving night,
- 35:24Speaker 1: that game, I don't think that will be an easy game,
- 35:27Speaker 1: and that's a tough spot because they've got two Thursday
- 35:30Speaker 1: night games in a row. Yeah, well, you're looking at
- 35:33Speaker 1: it and you're like, but that actually helps because then
- 35:35Speaker 1: you don't have you know, one of them's not you
- 35:37Speaker 1: know what I mean, one of them is not a
- 35:38Speaker 1: short week. You could have two Thursday night games and
- 35:41Speaker 1: at different times of the year and they both be
- 35:42Speaker 1: on short weeks at least it's Thursday to Thursday, right,
- 35:47Speaker 1: But that but the other one is Buffalo, Like to
- 35:50Speaker 1: you a point, So you got Buffalo twice, Minnesota, Cincinnati,
- 35:54Speaker 1: I think Miami, that's not going to be an easy
- 35:58Speaker 1: stretch of games to finish with down the stretch, no,
- 36:01Speaker 1: So but that's what I'm looking at. Can they can
- 36:04Speaker 1: they sort of reverse that trend even if they don't
- 36:07Speaker 1: have a great year, Let's say they finished nine and
- 36:09Speaker 1: eight or eight and nine or something like that, but
- 36:11Speaker 1: down the stretch, instead of getting you know, two games
- 36:14Speaker 1: against Buffalo where you don't even force a punt, you know,
- 36:17Speaker 1: maybe you split those two games or you know, much
- 36:20Speaker 1: more competitive in the two games, right than you were
- 36:23Speaker 1: a last year defensively anyway, because because the first game
- 36:26Speaker 1: the day after Christmas, that was a competitive game, but
- 36:29Speaker 1: they couldn't stop the Bills offense. You know, I think
- 36:31Speaker 1: everyone's hoping that the worst cases, Yeah, they didn't have
- 36:35Speaker 1: that greatest season record wise, but it's evident that they're
- 36:39Speaker 1: not far away. And I think you hit the nail
- 36:41Speaker 1: on the head, Freddie. You're focusing on mac Jones, right,
- 36:45Speaker 1: you know? Is is he showing signs of developing? Right?
- 36:49Speaker 1: I care less about the results. I know that Bill
- 36:53Speaker 1: chastises us for being completely result oriented, but that's the
- 36:57Speaker 1: results that I'm looking at. Is him right? How does
- 37:00Speaker 1: he look? And I agree with the way Todd said it.
- 37:02Speaker 1: He has looked a little frazzled. And the two the
- 37:05Speaker 1: two preseason games that he played, he wasn't sharp. Yeah,
- 37:08Speaker 1: and we and you know you kind of predicted it earlier, Paul, like,
- 37:12Speaker 1: no matter what happens, he won't get the blame. You're
- 37:14Speaker 1: hearing it, right, I know. You know, have you heard
- 37:17Speaker 1: anybody say Max not playing well? Right? Well? Or or
- 37:21Speaker 1: Max not playing well? What do you expect? This is
- 37:22Speaker 1: what they did to him? Yeah? Well I have heard that,
- 37:26Speaker 1: but I've also heard you know, it's particularly in that
- 37:29Speaker 1: last game people criticized him, Um, well, he played badly game,
- 37:34Speaker 1: and so we have to be careful like what's his
- 37:37Speaker 1: fault and what's not his fault? You know? But like
- 37:41Speaker 1: a good quarterback, you know, can make an offensive line
- 37:45Speaker 1: look better. They can make the people around them look better.
- 37:49Speaker 1: And that's going to be part of his job, you know,
- 37:52Speaker 1: is yeah, And this is like part of what I
- 37:54Speaker 1: was saying with the whole Well, if you give him
- 37:56Speaker 1: a clean pocket to step up in and you allow
- 37:59Speaker 1: him a chance of throw, and the guys get open
- 38:01Speaker 1: and you have a good running again. So what do
- 38:03Speaker 1: I need you for? Right again? Right? If if the
- 38:06Speaker 1: other ten guys are dominating, I could just put anybody
- 38:09Speaker 1: back there and he'll be serviceable, right right. You need
- 38:13Speaker 1: a guy who can make I need a guy who's
- 38:14Speaker 1: gonna make those guys look better. You know, I have
- 38:17Speaker 1: my snarky thing about the offensive line that I do
- 38:19Speaker 1: to you all the time, right, yeah, you need an
- 38:21Speaker 1: offensive line except for like Cincinnati at the worst offensive
- 38:23Speaker 1: line in football and they went to the super Bowl,
- 38:25Speaker 1: and the year before Kansas City at the worst offensive
- 38:28Speaker 1: line in football and they went to the I know
- 38:30Speaker 1: it's a snarky like, and I know you need a
- 38:33Speaker 1: better offensive line play than with the Patriots have had
- 38:35Speaker 1: so far this summer, But there's some truth to it.
- 38:39Speaker 1: When you're good enough, you lift that offensive line that
- 38:42Speaker 1: struggles and you make it look better than it is.
- 38:45Speaker 1: And Tom Brady I think did that for twenty years. Yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 1: if you're running around and your old line doesn't know
- 38:50Speaker 1: where you are, they're trying to block a guy, and
- 38:52Speaker 1: it turns out like you run right into the guy
- 38:54Speaker 1: they're trying to block and makes the old line look bad.
- 38:57Speaker 1: But to be fair, it's not always there. All Um,
- 39:01Speaker 1: So it's Mac, It's Mac, and it's Mac. Yeah, and
- 39:04Speaker 1: then we can talk about the rest. I want to
- 39:06Speaker 1: see him looking more comfortable. Yeah, absolutely, all right, five
- 39:11Speaker 1: past five hundred eight. Ticket Hotline web Radio at pagris
- 39:14Speaker 1: dot com is the email address. Um Chris writes in,
- 39:19Speaker 1: and he's from Toronto. Nice city, by the way, ever
- 39:22Speaker 1: been I have never been a very cosmopolitan the Torontonians. Now,
- 39:26Speaker 1: I've never been to Nice. Nice take if you ever
- 39:30Speaker 1: want to go. I think I've been to Quebec. Well,
- 39:34Speaker 1: Quebec is a big place, Um, Mount Orford skiing, Sure,
- 39:40Speaker 1: I think that's the only time I've been to Canada.
- 39:42Speaker 1: First time reaching out, But have gotten into your show
- 39:45Speaker 1: in local takes over the last year and got hooked
- 39:48Speaker 1: Paul's direct way of delivering his opinion is also a plus.
- 39:52Speaker 1: There you go. Okay, you're very direct. See we get
- 39:55Speaker 1: to get that on that the survey there that the
- 39:57Speaker 1: ninety eight point five survey. Quick question, do you think
- 40:00Speaker 1: there is a clock on Mac this year? Based on
- 40:02Speaker 1: the preseason and training camp reviews, it looked like he's
- 40:05Speaker 1: having trouble getting comfortable with the system and coaches. Is
- 40:09Speaker 1: there a clock? I'm not sure I understand well doing
- 40:13Speaker 1: does he have an internal clock on when he has
- 40:15Speaker 1: to get rid of the ball or do you think
- 40:16Speaker 1: his time running out on? Well, it could be. I
- 40:19Speaker 1: read it as how long do you give him before
- 40:22Speaker 1: you say, you know what, we need a quarterback? Oh
- 40:24Speaker 1: that's right. Yeah, that was the second part of what
- 40:25Speaker 1: I meant. I don't think we're there. I think he
- 40:29Speaker 1: I think you stopped doing that kind of an evaluation
- 40:31Speaker 1: after this season. Ye Like, if it doesn't go well,
- 40:34Speaker 1: when he doesn't look good, then I think you have
- 40:37Speaker 1: to wonder. All right, I'll give you one Freddy, Okay,
- 40:41Speaker 1: he's a good one. That's going to send you into orbit.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Somebody who works with us, I'm not going to mention names,
- 40:48Speaker 1: believes that this is a team that has a chance
- 40:49Speaker 1: to finish with a top five draft pick. So let's
- 40:54Speaker 1: just say top ten. Okay, Okay, if that happens. So
- 40:58Speaker 1: let's say they go six and eleven. Do you draft
- 41:04Speaker 1: a quarterback next year? Supposedly it's a deep draft for quarterbacks. Again,
- 41:09Speaker 1: I know you're gonna hate me for this, but like,
- 41:11Speaker 1: why were they six and eleven? You can't be good
- 41:14Speaker 1: at quarterback if you're six and eleven. What if they's
- 41:17Speaker 1: what if they have a top five offense? The defense stinks? Okay,
- 41:20Speaker 1: you know what you could like Deshaun Watson. Okay, Yeah,
- 41:24Speaker 1: let's assume it's not that kind of a performance. You're right,
- 41:27Speaker 1: You're absolutely right. You could lose a bunch of thirty
- 41:30Speaker 1: eight thirty five games and have a bad record because
- 41:33Speaker 1: your defense just can't stop anybody. Let's assume it's just
- 41:38Speaker 1: a run of the mill six and eleven team where
- 41:40Speaker 1: your quarterback doesn't play well, your defense doesn't even nothing
- 41:43Speaker 1: really looks good, and you lose a lot of games.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Would you draft a quarterback if you had a top
- 41:48Speaker 1: ten pick next year? If it's a guy, I like, yes,
- 41:53Speaker 1: I think you have to talk about it. Yeah, I mean,
- 41:55Speaker 1: obviously you're not going to reach it draft someone you
- 41:57Speaker 1: don't like. You hope that you don't always have that
- 41:59Speaker 1: opportunity unity, So when you do have that opportunity, you
- 42:03Speaker 1: have to consider it. You have to look at it.
- 42:05Speaker 1: You have to make a hard decision, you know. And
- 42:08Speaker 1: even if even if we draft this guy and it
- 42:12Speaker 1: turns out that Mac turns it around and we can't
- 42:15Speaker 1: use the guy, you know, Okay, so he was a
- 42:18Speaker 1: top five draft pick, top ten draft pick, you get
- 42:20Speaker 1: rid of him, you know. But I think I agree,
- 42:26Speaker 1: like I said, you can't you hope that you don't
- 42:28Speaker 1: have that opportunity every year. I think that's a good
- 42:30Speaker 1: way to put it. Like, you're not going to be,
- 42:32Speaker 1: especially with Belichick, Like you're not going to be in
- 42:34Speaker 1: the top ten a lot because even if you have
- 42:37Speaker 1: an average roster, he's gonna probably find a way to
- 42:40Speaker 1: beat the similarly average to below average teams. Ye right, Yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 1: Like a team like the Jets last year, I don't
- 42:50Speaker 1: know what they wanted. They win three or four games,
- 42:51Speaker 1: I don't know, but they're probably not winning many more
- 42:55Speaker 1: games than they should, right because they had the Jets, right,
- 42:58Speaker 1: they had a first year coach, they have a really
- 43:00Speaker 1: young roster. Bill's going to find a way to win
- 43:05Speaker 1: all of the games against teams that are similar to him. Yep.
- 43:08Speaker 1: And in that league, it's gonna get you around seven
- 43:10Speaker 1: or eight wins and you're not going to be in
- 43:12Speaker 1: the top ten. I see what they did with Cam Newton. Yeah, yeah,
- 43:14Speaker 1: you know they went seven and nine. H Dana, Virginia
- 43:18Speaker 1: and Michigan. Which cut this week was the most surprising
- 43:21Speaker 1: for each of you. Um, you know what, believe it
- 43:25Speaker 1: or not. I think Bledsoe he didn't get cut. Well, yeah,
- 43:29Speaker 1: he got cut and put on the prom he did
- 43:31Speaker 1: not get cut. Oh he's on the roster. Who am
- 43:34Speaker 1: I thinking of? I don't know. Oh Bethel justin Bethel,
- 43:37Speaker 1: probably at Bethel. Um, yeah, I would say either him.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I really just either him with Kevin Harris. Yeah, I
- 43:46Speaker 1: you know Bethel, because you know, Bethel's probably the most
- 43:49Speaker 1: he is a good special teamer. And I was surprised
- 43:51Speaker 1: that he got cut. But yeah, I was a little
- 43:54Speaker 1: surprised there too. Um. Keeping with the cut down theme,
- 44:00Speaker 1: could each of you name a reason why you would
- 44:02Speaker 1: make a Bill Belichick team or a reason why you
- 44:05Speaker 1: would be cut. For example, some of the reasons we've
- 44:07Speaker 1: heard for Belichick keeping people are versatility, being a leader
- 44:10Speaker 1: in college, watching a lot of film, and being smart.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Some of the reasons we've heard for Belichick not keeping
- 44:16Speaker 1: people are repeating errors, freelancing, being late, and taking smack
- 44:21Speaker 1: and talking smack about other teams. Which aspects like this
- 44:25Speaker 1: have you demonstrated in real life? I don't know. Yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 1: I mean I would get cut because I'm a malcontent.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I would always be questioning why we're doing something like
- 44:35Speaker 1: right now. If I was on the offense, I'd be saying,
- 44:37Speaker 1: why don't we have an offensive coordinator? And they would say, Um,
- 44:41Speaker 1: leave your key at the door. You can you can
- 44:42Speaker 1: go now, Like my computer is giving me trouble. Oh okay,
- 44:49Speaker 1: so now don't run in here. It's just the touchscreen
- 44:54Speaker 1: is not working. That happens to mine everyone. So what
- 44:57Speaker 1: is the deal with that? When that happens, Matt, I
- 44:58Speaker 1: don't know. I just lift it off the keyboard and
- 45:01Speaker 1: put it back on the keyboard. The keyboard detaches. Oh okay,
- 45:04Speaker 1: Oh it's actually a tablet. Okay, because that happens to
- 45:08Speaker 1: me on post game shows a lot. My my little
- 45:10Speaker 1: pen stops working. You have to like click it all
- 45:13Speaker 1: the time. Uh, Mark and clarology, Freddie, that's why Bill's
- 45:17Speaker 1: always checking him around on the sideline. Love our Microsoft
- 45:20Speaker 1: surfaces though, oh we love we love our surface tablets.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I don't know what this means, Um Paul Carter or
- 45:28Speaker 1: GG Hamilton, I'm a luke something gig kidd. And if
- 45:32Speaker 1: you lost your entire offense coaching staff, how many games
- 45:35Speaker 1: would you win? He's up on Bill, go pads. I
- 45:38Speaker 1: don't have no idea. They lost their entire offense. If
- 45:42Speaker 1: you lost your entire offensive coaching staff, how many games
- 45:45Speaker 1: would you win? But that was I don't know what
- 45:48Speaker 1: it was their fault. Oh, I see what he's saying.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Like he's saying, if you lost how if you lost
- 45:52Speaker 1: all your coach but like if you did how many? Yeah? Yeah?
- 45:57Speaker 1: The thing that he that that's missing in that is
- 45:59Speaker 1: he choose, he chose not to replace them, right like yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 1: whatever he's up on, Billy says um Nate Northeast Pennsylvania.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Just read Schefter's tweet on the Twitter machine. Did you
- 46:13Speaker 1: guys hear our buddy Nikil Harry is on ir No.
- 46:17Speaker 1: I knew he was going there. He has a serious injury. Yeah,
- 46:22Speaker 1: it's too bad for him, too bad, for him, Ben
- 46:26Speaker 1: and Marilyn um wish I could call in, but I can.
- 46:29Speaker 1: As you know, the Patriots now have thirteen rookies on
- 46:32Speaker 1: their roster, but still have the second oldest roster in
- 46:35Speaker 1: the NFL. Do you guys view this as a problem, Well,
- 46:39Speaker 1: it's I mean, you got Hoyer, you got Slater, you
- 46:42Speaker 1: got mccordy, who kind of skew it right. No, No,
- 46:46Speaker 1: if you take out their top four guys in age,
- 46:48Speaker 1: their ninth, ninth oldest, who's old that's gonna play? Well,
- 46:54Speaker 1: I don't care who plays. Who's young, that's gonna play
- 46:58Speaker 1: Cole Strange and he's not that young, Mac, he's young, Okay?
- 47:01Speaker 1: Who more Stevenson, Damian Harris, Samian Harris not young? Fourth year? Okay?
- 47:06Speaker 1: I consider that he's not old like middle of it.
- 47:10Speaker 1: He's still on his first contract. Right, But this is
- 47:12Speaker 1: what makes you one of the oldest teams in the league.
- 47:14Speaker 1: You don't, you don't have I know, but first contract
- 47:18Speaker 1: guys are young. I consider them. Okay, so we'll call
- 47:20Speaker 1: him young. Okay, Yeah, Jalen Mills, Matt Judon, you got
- 47:26Speaker 1: the Jones Brothers, Hunter, Henry Johno Smith. Are those guys young? No?
- 47:30Speaker 1: But you can't have everybody on your phone. But I'm
- 47:32Speaker 1: just saying they don't have a young roster. They have
- 47:35Speaker 1: the second oldest team in the league by average age.
- 47:39Speaker 1: They did an exercise on this, your boy, I believe
- 47:41Speaker 1: it was Tucker Poynton yea, eliminated the top four Hoyer,
- 47:46Speaker 1: Slater mccordy. Who's the fourth one, horyor Slater mccordy. Um,
- 47:53Speaker 1: they have a fourth thirty something year old folk folk.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Eliminating those four, they would go to ninth. Now that
- 48:00Speaker 1: it's not being tabulated by eliminated everybody else's for oldest players, right,
- 48:05Speaker 1: because that to me is apples to apples, Like if
- 48:07Speaker 1: you eliminate Tom Brady from Tampa, where did they go?
- 48:10Speaker 1: Tampa's the oldest roster in the league, right right, So
- 48:13Speaker 1: my guess is Tampa would still be the oldest team
- 48:16Speaker 1: without Tom Brady. And right on down the line, they
- 48:21Speaker 1: have ten. A lot of people will like they're embracing
- 48:24Speaker 1: a youth movement. They have ten rookies, not really like
- 48:30Speaker 1: they have. Cole Strange will start. I think the Jones
- 48:32Speaker 1: Boys will play. Yeah, right, we'll see about Thornton. He's
- 48:38Speaker 1: on IR. That doesn't really count yet I think he'll
- 48:40Speaker 1: play a little bit at some point. You get a
- 48:43Speaker 1: couple of special teamers in Schooler in Mitchell, but you know,
- 48:48Speaker 1: they're still on its first contract. Okay, they have some
- 48:51Speaker 1: young guys fred, but overall their roster is the second
- 48:54Speaker 1: oldest in the league. To I have to look at it.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I think there's a technicality there. Yeah, it's called a No,
- 49:00Speaker 1: I think I think. I don't think they're as old
- 49:02Speaker 1: as they've been in the past. They're older than they
- 49:04Speaker 1: were last year. And I'll tell you another thing that
- 49:07Speaker 1: makes them a little older. Yes, they have ten rookies.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Their rookies are all older than normal rookies. That's true.
- 49:14Speaker 1: They did they have a twenty five year old rookie
- 49:17Speaker 1: in Jack Jones. They drafted some fish in a lot
- 49:19Speaker 1: of twenty four year old guys. Yeah, but okay, no,
- 49:22Speaker 1: I'm just saying that, Like, so we're saying that that's
- 49:24Speaker 1: what's using right, But let me look at that. Is
- 49:26Speaker 1: it like, oh, they're average ages twenty eight point six
- 49:29Speaker 1: and everybody else is twenty eight point three, twenty eight
- 49:32Speaker 1: point two. You know, really, so that's like saying you're
- 49:36Speaker 1: good at running the ball or you're bad at running
- 49:38Speaker 1: the ball. You know what the difference is, like point
- 49:41Speaker 1: two yards per game. Like, it's not like one team
- 49:45Speaker 1: one team averages you know, five point two yards per
- 49:48Speaker 1: carry and you know the tenth grade team averages two
- 49:52Speaker 1: point one yards per carry. No, it's it's it's a
- 49:54Speaker 1: lot closer than that. Yes, you're right, Fred, Like their
- 49:57Speaker 1: average age is like twenty six and change, and the
- 50:00Speaker 1: oldest is like twenty six and change, right, and a
- 50:03Speaker 1: tent is probably twenty six and change. Like, I get it,
- 50:07Speaker 1: But but it's apples to apples. It's the average age,
- 50:10Speaker 1: I know. But the fifty three man roster for all
- 50:12Speaker 1: thirty two teams. Yeah, but I don't think it means anything.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I think it means unless it's, like, you know, really
- 50:19Speaker 1: a wide disparage. I just would say that in general.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Nothing in general to me, I don't understand why you're
- 50:25Speaker 1: fixating on the disparity because if it's if it's apples
- 50:28Speaker 1: to apples, it's it's the same for everybody. But it's
- 50:30Speaker 1: an average age for everybody, I understand. But when it
- 50:33Speaker 1: when it comes to age, if it's like decimal points,
- 50:36Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. Okay, if they were the youngest would
- 50:41Speaker 1: you say it mattered, not if it's decimal points? Well,
- 50:44Speaker 1: what is decimal points? And what I'm saying is like
- 50:46Speaker 1: if the average age for the Patriots for thirty and
- 50:49Speaker 1: that was like two years older than every other But
- 50:52Speaker 1: what stat is like? That is what I'm asking you.
- 50:54Speaker 1: What what what stat has a variance of like and
- 50:56Speaker 1: a significant amount of saying that age is not in
- 50:59Speaker 1: the same category that running passing. It's not the same. Okay, Well,
- 51:05Speaker 1: would what would you think would be a characteristic of
- 51:07Speaker 1: one of the oldest rosters in the league. What would
- 51:10Speaker 1: be a character What would you think of a team
- 51:13Speaker 1: that was one of the oldest teams in the league
- 51:16Speaker 1: that has a lot of like guys on second and
- 51:18Speaker 1: third contract, Would you think they're good? I don't know
- 51:22Speaker 1: if I would. I would think the older the roster,
- 51:25Speaker 1: the better the team because they're they're poised to win.
- 51:28Speaker 1: I don't know my Tampa is the number one team,
- 51:30Speaker 1: but I believe when the Patriots had believe, I believe
- 51:34Speaker 1: the top five is all teams that had winning record slash.
- 51:38Speaker 1: It depends on who they are. You have to look
- 51:39Speaker 1: at it in contact, you know, Like I said, when
- 51:42Speaker 1: it was Gronk and Brady Edelman, you know, mccordy Slater
- 51:47Speaker 1: right in twenty and eighteen, I think they probably had
- 51:49Speaker 1: an old roster. Yeah, but they won the Super Bowl, right,
- 51:51Speaker 1: you know so? But I'm right now, I don't think
- 51:54Speaker 1: a lot of people think they have a roster that's
- 51:56Speaker 1: capable of competing for a Super Bowl. But but yet
- 51:58Speaker 1: it's in the top five. Bet you back then they
- 52:00Speaker 1: were there was a bigger disparity, because I'll bet you
- 52:03Speaker 1: it wasn't. I'll bet you the disparity between average age
- 52:07Speaker 1: is very similar. I don't think it. I think you
- 52:09Speaker 1: have to look at who the players are and then
- 52:12Speaker 1: take it from that. It's like if you have a
- 52:14Speaker 1: bunch of old players, I don't think they have a
- 52:16Speaker 1: lot of young players that are going to be major contributors.
- 52:18Speaker 1: They have a handful. I don't think they have a lot. Well,
- 52:20Speaker 1: that's the thing we have to find out because if
- 52:22Speaker 1: they're not, if they don't get contributing impact from those
- 52:27Speaker 1: young players, they're not going to be good. That's what
- 52:29Speaker 1: we're waiting to see. Can the Jennings play well, Can
- 52:32Speaker 1: Ouche play well? Right? You know, then I would say
- 52:35Speaker 1: it doesn't matter if that happens, then I would say
- 52:37Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. Yeah, that you have a gunner who's
- 52:40Speaker 1: thirty five and a kicker who's thirty six, I would
- 52:42Speaker 1: agree with you. But I think people are looking at
- 52:44Speaker 1: and say, oh, the Patriots are old, they're not going
- 52:46Speaker 1: to be good. No, and you're saying the opposite, No,
- 52:50Speaker 1: they're not. I don't think anybody's saying they're old, they're
- 52:53Speaker 1: not going to be good. People are saying they're not
- 52:56Speaker 1: good in they're old. Yeah, that's not a good combination.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I don't think like there's a difference there. I don't
- 53:01Speaker 1: think they're that old. Honestly, they're old. Yeah, I mean
- 53:04Speaker 1: I don't really understand how you can say otherwise. Yeah.
- 53:07Speaker 1: I mean if you if you go down the roster,
- 53:11Speaker 1: the number of people who have you know that are
- 53:14Speaker 1: you know, like where you used to like Edelman Grant,
- 53:17Speaker 1: those guys were old. They were old. You know, they
- 53:20Speaker 1: were like in their eighth ninth year in the league.
- 53:23Speaker 1: That's old. If you're in your first contract, that's that's
- 53:26Speaker 1: not old. They don't have a ton of guys that
- 53:27Speaker 1: are major contributors in their first contract. Yeah, but that's
- 53:30Speaker 1: what they have a few but they're gonna have guys
- 53:33Speaker 1: in their first contracts that are gonna play. But I don't.
- 53:35Speaker 1: But I think you're missing the point about like age
- 53:40Speaker 1: in terms of outlook. I don't think anybody thinks they're
- 53:43Speaker 1: not going to be good because they're old. I don't
- 53:46Speaker 1: think anybody thinks that. I think some people, I think
- 53:48Speaker 1: Tampa is the oldest roster in football. I don't think
- 53:50Speaker 1: anybody thinks they're not going to be good because they're old. Well,
- 53:53Speaker 1: I think that some people are saying, Oh, they said
- 53:55Speaker 1: they're gonna get younger, and now they're still the second
- 53:57Speaker 1: oldest team in the league. You know, Yeah, that's I mean,
- 54:02Speaker 1: that's largely true. Yeah. Well, I think that they're trying
- 54:06Speaker 1: to rebuild. I think that's accurate. This is where I
- 54:08Speaker 1: agree with you on your on your part, like, I
- 54:11Speaker 1: think it can be deceiving because of where the players
- 54:13Speaker 1: that are old are. Ye, Like, if you have like
- 54:16Speaker 1: a star wide receiver who's aging and a star defensive
- 54:20Speaker 1: end who's aging, Like if you have like Julio Jones
- 54:24Speaker 1: and Von Miller, Right, you guys, that's that's like, that's
- 54:28Speaker 1: different than Matthew Slater and Nick Folks exactly. That I
- 54:31Speaker 1: agree with you exactly, Like I'm fully on board with you. Yeah,
- 54:35Speaker 1: but but I just I just disagree with Like I
- 54:37Speaker 1: think that people aren't saying they can't be good because
- 54:40Speaker 1: they're old. I think people are saying they're not good
- 54:43Speaker 1: and they're old. Wow. The people, you know, the haters,
- 54:46Speaker 1: the people that don't think that they have anything. Sure,
- 54:49Speaker 1: And Mike just stormed into the radio studio. Yeah, Mike,
- 54:52Speaker 1: he's got a stern look on his face, and that
- 54:53Speaker 1: means I'm going to start to eat. Mike is back

- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Why are you being like Eric and not giving me information?
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: This is what Eric would do. I don't it's a mattress.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I don't tell you. First of all, that's exactly the
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: opposite of what Eric would do. Eric would tell you
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: the name of the mattress, and it would absolutely be
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: the most expensive that you've ever heard, not only if
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: only if he really ever think, maybe I don't want
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: to tell you that I spent way more money on
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: a mattress than should be humanly possible with that, because
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: it's embarrassing mattress stuff that you do, Alex. Matresses are important,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: are they not? They are? But I'm saying that as
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: someone whose mattress came from a box at Costco and
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: I just pulled it out, and well, you're right. I mean,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: I think if why no, no, I think, if you
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: don't weigh a lot the mattress, the mattress doesn't matter
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: that much. It's only when you're heavy, you know. Is
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: it a temper pedic. It's a temper pedic, because he's sweet.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: What kind of bed does it call? It's a temper
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: pedic right, probably, Yeah, does it go up and down
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: to they have like controls on it, told the old
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: person adjustable bed. No, but he can change the TV
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: channels with his butt cheeks so it didn't have to
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: his arms. Yeah, yes, pam oh Jos song. That's another
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: great moment from all right back here on Patriots Unfiltered
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: eight five five pats five hundred deuce back from practice
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: the locker room, Yeah, we're here from joke Jacobe Myers.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: He went up and spoke at the podium, little talk
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: of of last year of the opening against Miami, letting
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: that one get away a little bit, how mistakes can
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: kind of come back to bite in. Then yeah, I
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: made my way into the locker room to Von Godchild
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: talk a little bit obviously played in Miami. So excited
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: to go back down there. But yeah, mostly players kind
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: of starting to get ready to go out to practice,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: which I will will join them here in a few minutes.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: But a little bit weird going in before practice. They
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: were certainly surprised to see us in there, and they
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: came walking through the door like what who was? There
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: a lot of media in there. There was there was
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: a good chunk a lot of cameras, a lot of cameras,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: so um, you know, getting built up for next week.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Then it all gets going. But it's been kind of
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: a weird, a little bit weird being back in the
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: locker room. But because also nice, um, I don't know
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: next week's schedule, but we know they're leaving on Tuesday.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Will there be availability on Monday? Maybe that's a I mean, yeah,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: I'm kind of probably anticipating that maybe in the afternoon
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: like usual, there will be because we'll we hear we're
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: TV stars, we gotta shoot you on TV. That'll be
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: it for this week for availability. So if there isn't,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: then you have to go down to Miami to talk
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: to them, right, that could be it. That's a good point.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: That's a good point. Stocking up on the footage. There's
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: probably plenty of devon Gatcha and that was slowing down
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: when I get out, so we thought that far in advance,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: by the way, in terms of our coverage, Yeah, what
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: do you mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah, what are you talking about? Yeah,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: we got what we're gonna be covering availability. Oh yeah,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: yeah yeah, yeah, Okay, we'll have a We're good, We'll
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: have an Okay, we'll have a good quarter down there.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Ye uh. Tony writes in while watching NFL Live this
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: week and discussing the Cowboys, it occurred to me that
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: in terms of a GM, the glory hole man has
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: been better than the goat coach, perhaps much better in
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: terms of acquiring draft capital. Of course, Dallas hasn't won anything,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: but maybe the blame there is on his coach hiring.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: See I've said that for many years. Yeah, I think
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: a lot of people criticize Jerry Jones, and they said, well,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: he's two hands on, he's he wants to be the GM,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: and he picks the players. And I always said, like,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: when was the last time you said, Dallas, you know, overachieved,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Like you always say they underachieved, So you always think
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: they have more talent than they get. The problem is
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: he doesn't pick the right coach, and his overbearing nature
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: makes it hard to get a good coach. I think
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I think he's always sort of forced to settle for
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: the Jason Garretts and the Mike McCarthy's of the world.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Well what if he doesn't pick the right players? No,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I think he Again, I don't think many people feel
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: that way. I don't think many people feel like they
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: won't win because they have Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: like Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, like they don't win
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: because they don't ever put it all together. The Patriots
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: need talent, young talent, but they lacked the twenty four
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: to twenty eight year old prime of career talent it
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: takes to win. I know it might be a popularity poll,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: but the Patriots didn't get one player in the NFL
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Network's top one hundred players. And I can't argue with that.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Yes they did, they got two. No, that was NFL Networks,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: not ESPNS, he said. I thought he said ESPNS because
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: they didn't get any an ESPN's top hundred. Who shows
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: that one? I don't know. I think it was coaches, GMS,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: personnel guys. But I don't hold me on that guy, Jones,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: because I don't really feel you know, as you know,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I don't really care about any of those kinds of lists.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Um to Fred's point about the whole twenty four to
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: twenty eight I think you have a chance because I
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: think last year's draft, the top three picks contribute last year.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Now you have a draft where I think you have
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: a chance for the top four pat picks to contribute.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: We'll see strange Thornton Jones Jones, right, Ye, so if
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: you start to do that, you have Dugger from a
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: few years ago. Now you have to sign some of
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: these guys should their second contract. That was Fred's point,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Like Damian Harris, I don't know if he's going to
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: get a second contract. Like this is the other thing
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: that I think greatly changes your viewpoint right right now,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Like Isaiah Wynn is all right, it was an okay
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: first round pick, yeah, you know you got and then
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: they don't resign him, and it was like a bust. No,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Like it just goes from this to this because they
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: don't resign him. I think if you if you pick
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: Alignment in the first round and he doesn't stay with you,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: that is it's a wasted pick on your part. I know.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: But I don't you think that that's where we're headed? Yes, yeah,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: so like yes, so I don't have to wait. I
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: can tell you I think that was a bad pick.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: It was a bad pick. Yeah, you think Dugger gets resigned.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: I mean I think that's even up in the air
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: now too. I think Dugger is going to be contingent
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: on the rest of that group. Right now, that is
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: a great group of safeties right well, at some point
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: it's got to end. From a quartery. Adrian Phillips has
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: another year, a couple of years. I think, yeah two
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: sign the extension last year, so I'm not sure exactly,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: but I think he's got okay. So Adrian Phillips will
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: be back. Jabrill Peppers is on a one year deal.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: If he plays well, he's gone, right unless they just
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: love him and he loves them and they work out
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: some extension during the seat. And I don't know who knows,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: but I think there's a chance that you really need
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Dugger because I think there could be some turnover there.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: They want Phillips and Dugger going forward, maybe with Bledsoe
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: in the wings. This is where Mike and I were
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: talking Freddie and you want things to be sort of
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: excited about or encouraged by for the future. That's what
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: it is like, That's what they used to do all
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: the time. Like a guy like Bledsoe, he looks like
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: he might be able to play a little on defense.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: I don't think he will this year, but he looks
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: like a guy that if you lose Peppers and Phillips
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: and Dugger, you know, with some combination of those three,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: we could yeah, we could feel this guy in he
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: could play. Whereas you know, in the past, you haven't
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: really had any of these draft picks developing, like you
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: had to go out and spend fifty five million dollars
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: on two tight ends because the two third round tight
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: ends you drafted didn't look like they were going to
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: be able to do it. Right now, I think that
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: you have some guys that have been drafted. You know,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: might you in two years from now be able to say,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: you know, maybe next year you say thank you Lawrence guy.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Maybe in two years you say thank you Davin Gadcha,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: and you have Sam Roberts, a late round draft pick
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: that looks really athletic and kind of intriguing. You know, maybe,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: you know, maybe maybe that's the way it works. That's
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: the way it worked for a lot of the first
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: fifteen years of the dynasty. It hasn't worked that way
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: over the last say, six or seven years now, and
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I feel like we're always chasing it. Where you know,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: two years ago, when we were talking about drafting JC
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Horn and a cornerback and now we get to this
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: year and we're like, now we need the corner. Last
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: year talking a little bit about a tackle as a
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: potential pick in the first Net round and now not
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: you know, no offense to cold strange, but what you
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: wouldn't give to have, you know, another tackle in the pipeline.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: And I just I think you can point to so
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: many specific instances, whether it was like Matt Light to
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Solder or you know, Shane Vereen going to James White
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: or you know where where they had a plan in
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: place where these guys are probably gonna leave that hasn't
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: existed lately. And I think you're you got a good point, Paul,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: with the safeties now where it feels almost like, well
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: we have everything now with the safeties. You've got an
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: old guy, you got a young guy, you've got a
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: free agent. You've got a lot of differs. They haven't
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: drafted well, right, But I do think there are signs.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I'm not ready to tell you that they had great tasts.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: It's gotten the signs of the last two drafts, yep,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: look pretty good. Yeah, it's gotten better, but you know,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: and Nury's still out on a lot of it. But
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: but the other part. I've had that four or five
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: year stretch where it wasn't good. Oh yeah, and that
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: hurt them. You go back to like her. They had
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: thirteen was it fifteen players they took in the top
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: three rounds from was it seventeen through twenty one, and
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: they basically have two hits out of those thirteen players.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: You know Dugger and Damien Harris. Yeah, and maybe you
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: know Jerry out a little bit on Anfredy Jennings, maybe
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: he has something this year, maybe a little bit with
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: j But I think those guys, those are the kind
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: of guys that are now getting a chance to play,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: whereas you know, maybe if they had played last year,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: you would know a little bit better. He has the
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: problem now because now let's say those guys knock off
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: the rust in a guy like Jennings's case, because he
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: hasn't played at all and you got to suffer through
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: some growing pains in year three. Then all of a
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: sudden he comes in year four. He's like, oh, he's
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: a pretty good player, and you're probably gonna lose him. That's,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: you know, to me, the tough part, because you can't
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: resign everybody. Some guys are gonna get blown away in
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: free agency and you're gonna lose him. So that's the
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: thing that if you can get some young players and
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: you can stack years and get two or three years
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: out of a young player, and then you have a
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: decision to make as opposed to, well he really only
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: did it for a year, or do we repay this guy?
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, I'd love to see some extensions.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's definitely a feature, as Fred said,
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: missing on the draft picks. There haven't been guys to
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: extend Phillips being you know, an exception they didn't draft.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: But you know, I would love to see some of
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: those guys because could somebody earn an extension this year.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: It's just like you know, that tells you when they
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: have one of those guys. They just have not been
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: many Jonathan Jones, Shack Mason, but yeah, a lot of
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: guys that they've they've made an effort to retain. Yeah,
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: and I don't think that The really telling thing is
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: when you look at all those guys and when they left,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: none of those guys have really done anything. I mean,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: j C. Jackson is to me a rarity over the
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: last three or four years. Guys that, you know, young
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: guys that have left for free agency that were highly coveted. Yeah,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: tun Tuny's another one. Tuny's another one. They should have
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: never they screwed up Tuny, I think so. Yeah. I
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: found myself watching Cole String and just feeling like he
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: looked similar to Tuney, just for body type and you know,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: kind of his way he gets down his dance and
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I just found myself wondering, like what happened? Like, you know,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: it's just there's been so many missus recently. You had
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: a guy and I know he's a guard and that's all.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: You know, no offense to the cards out there, but
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I think they inflated his worth by giving him. They
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: had two really good guards that they paid through the
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: nose for and it just didn't really make sense, No,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: but they inflated his worth by giving him that tag.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: You know, I think they could have kept him just,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: you know, figure something out, extend him, Like how did
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Mankins last as long as he did? That's you know,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: like what was different about him that you know that
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: there were fights and stuff about contracts, but you know,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: at least they made an effort. But I think a
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: couple of years ago when you were looking at like
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: the height of Mason and Tuney, I would have been
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: surprised to say, you know, in a couple of years,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: these guys are both gone. He lasted as long as
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: he did because it was the pre the new CBA
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: and it was the longer contract, and he actually because
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: of the young I mean, I don't have it all
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: right in front of me, so I'm probably gonna mess
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: some of this up. But he also got caught in
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: the uncapped year, which I think was ten if I recall,
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: is that the year that he held out because they said,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: do you remember, like he was supposed to be a
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: free agent, but because of the uncapped year, he wasn't
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: a free agent. Yeah, oh right, because the stipulation was
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: that he got screwed. Yeah, And he ended up holding
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: out for the first half of the year, came back
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: and then they traded them, you know, shortly thereafter he
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: you know, he's not all that different really and when
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: when but he was unhappy with the situation. Now they
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: kept him. They were able to when he didn't get
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: traded until like before the fourteen season, so they kept him.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: But that was contentious. Yeah, still made it nine years,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: but uh, five hundred eighth ticket outline, it's stacking up.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Let's go to Willem and Philham. What's up, William? Hey?
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: What's going on? Hey? Doing good? All right? I just
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: want to figure bank off of what y'all were saying.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: So don't think kame. They were two thousand, nineteen picks,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: twenty twenty picks. So that's another bus correct. Ye? Yeah,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: didn't send it out and didn't look at you went
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: with car mcgron. That's why you ain't draft the lines
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: that he's gonna practice squad. I mean, yeah, that's a
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: fifth round pick though, that's that's fine. Yeah, right, My
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: thing is all right. So let me put it like this. Okay,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: you last you actually you spent all the money. Usually
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: it's the truck want pass. It's busy in Philly. Card
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: y'all want my life to pick um it. You had
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: you had spent a lot of money like last year. Okay,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: now you take a step back. The team is like
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: your minutes basically, so you're gonna make it work what
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: you got. And then now next year you want to
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: spend more monas to fill up a lot of positions.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: You see where you got to come back to that.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Gat offensive line is closest right now, and you have
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: the corners. Good lord, you know what I mean, you
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: kind of scared. We got a lot of Jones brothers
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: and they and they like five nine five. So I
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: mean Bill, I mean, I get what Bill be doing,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: but he's just he has to it a free agency
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: and the draft, gentleman, I mean, this is this is
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: I mean, this is the seriously, it really is. I
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: mean it's I mean, we all, y'all all, I mean,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: y'all even know it's yourself. It's Bill Belichick and his
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: draft and his free agency. These players, I'm like, it's
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: never not it's like he hit more bad that it's
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: more bad and good with him. I mean, he hit
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: some picks and stuff like that. But you know what
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: I'm saying, Yeah, yeah, I mean that's why I'm focusing
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: on the last two years. Thanks. Well, like, I think
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: there's signs that I mean, you know, he's coming out
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: of that slump. We were having a little conversation in
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: the locker room and just how different you know, the
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: open locker room period is, and you know, we're saying
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: it used to be your kind of knew Julian Edelman,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: the big the big star guys to go that would
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: whole court and that you would have to go get.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: And it just isn't that many guys anymore, you know,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: there's not I mean mccordy mac obviously goes to the podium,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: but you know, there's just not a lot of guys
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: that everyone is clamoring right now is as stars. And
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I think he's right, and any through free agency in there,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: I would just stick with the draft. I think you
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: just need you need these young guys. You need to
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: find some new stars and you know, hopefully these class
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: works out with the Joneses. And but somebody also mentioned
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: and hey Alex Alex is here if she just came
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: back from the locker room. Um, you know, somebody mentioned
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: those guys that are like twenty eight years old and
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: in the prime of their career and our stars, we
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: don't have that. And that was kind of the point
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: that I was making about the the age, like they
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: don't have the like the studs that are that are
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: like right there right And that's why people I think
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: are saying, like, well, we're old, but we don't have those. Yeah, well,
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: I think you went into free agency, and you didn't.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: You didn't go sign a bunch of thirty two year olds.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: I mean, you signed guys at the end of their
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: first deal, but they're not stars. I mean, you know all.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: You know, even if you think Nelson Aglor is pretty good,
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I think he's pretty good. I think Kendrick Borne's pretty good,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: you know. I mean there maybe you could say solid
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: NFL players, but that's that's who your core is right now?
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: Are you know those solid guys and you need them?
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: You need them to be better this year, Alex Impressions
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: of the locker room, you know, kind of to go
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: off Mike's point a little bit about people not really
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: knowing who the stars are. It's it's been really uneventful.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: And like reporters, of course, you have like your Karen's
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: and your Mike Races who are going to go up
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: to guys and talk to them, But a lot of
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: it is people kind of standing around waiting for a
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: scrum to start. And like today it was really weird
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: because like no one was talking to anyone and Mike
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: and I went to get an interview with Davon Godchaw
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: and it was only after I did that interview with
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: god chaw that everyone came and like started love started trends. Yeah,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: and they did. They repeat all your questions and you're like,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I already asked them all those guys. Not really. We
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: were talking about more off the field, some fashion week stuff.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: What's that girl's name, Chanel? I'm in there? You gone
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: she was born with a name like that? Like it
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: just she was born, Like that's a model. That's a
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: model name. Yeah, her mom must oh she's is her?
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Is her mom the model? Them? Is there? My my
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: misremembering something. I think her mom actually might have been
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: a model, but I'm not sure even try dud. I know,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna give up. I'm gonna go out to practice.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Get that song ready, Morrel morel. So you talked to
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: gotcha anyone else? Um? Nope, it was kind of really uneventful.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I mean I went in for my stories, right, so
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: I got what I needed and that's what you have
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: to But yeah, like these other reporters that they go
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: in just to go in. It's like me, I just
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: go and I stand out when I go in. It's
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: it's for morale, right, Just so when he thinks the
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: fellows a down, he goes in and lifts up the spirit. Yeah.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Do you give him pep talks? Yeah? Just seeing me there?
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Just okay, mister Kraft made an appearance. Oh did he
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: randomly took like a little stroll through. I think he
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: was chatting with had he been working out or anything?
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Or now he had the button up on? So unless
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: that's what he works out and he has the full
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Spandex workout, that for him. That for him, only Fred
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: can talk about Robert kraftwin it's Mandex. Oh yeah, okay,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I have a vision of like one of those biker outfits.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: He doesn't really too bad, um T shirt and shorts
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: on like everybody else. An eventful locker room, you know,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: just a lot of questions like is this the hardest
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: game to prep four? And what about the heat in Miami?
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: You know it's like, yeah, what are they even going
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: to ask that they haven't asked a million times through
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: preseason and training camp. Yeah, but I would like to
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: talk to some of the defensive guys about the speed
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: of Miami, like what are you thinking? You know, That's
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: why I brought up that Jonathan Jones thing. I wonder
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: if it's more specifically Miami related than more of a change. Yeah,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: because we know right now, every practice right now, it's
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: all Miami. I'll tell you another one, Freddie. That's kind
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: of interesting. You know we talked about Lee Bowden. They
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: signed to the practice squad two years in a row,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: signing the guy from Miami right before the opener when
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: you're playing in Miami. Oh yeah, absolutely. I thought they
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: were going to sign Sony Michelle for that reason. Yeah,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: because you think he can play. Yes, some reason, I
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: think he can play. Has he landed anywhere yet or no?
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: I think the Chargers. Oh that's right, he did go
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: to the Chargers. Yeah, yeah, back back to LA. So
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: I don't know if he's signed, but I thought that
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: was in the works. Good for him, all right, Logan
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Ryan resigned with Yeah, Tampa. I guess that was one
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: of those roster manipulation things. Ryan Jensen saw that. Like
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Logan Ryan, nice guy, he likes dogs. Yeah, him and
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: his wife have like a whole little foundation. I thought
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: Brady helped him out with that yesterday. Yeah, a little
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: photo up. Um, let's get back to the stacked up phones.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: We'll go to Christian in LA. What's up, Christian? Hey, guys,
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: how are you doing today? Good. So I'm just sitting
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: here wondering and having maybe it's an awakening to me
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: and and being it's not for all the winds of
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: you know, the conference winds and divisions and obviously Super Bowls,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: but we have fired several times over the people that
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: we have doing our scouting and generally our drafting, because
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: it seems like without Tom and I hate to do
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: this without Moms, like covering up how bad it gets
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: rid of the ball, so the lineman don't have to
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: really be that good or how you know, how well
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: even at placed to defense for the receivers didn't really
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: have to be that good. I don't see how we've
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: hit on anything in the last really ten years that
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: that maybe Tom didn't cover up right with who he was.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: And now I'm starting to realizing this time without him,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: that we really don't have enough an identity to fall
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: back on. I mean, we think it's built, but now
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: we're seeing this sort of strangeness with buildness. To see
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: them with the coordinator things and you know, not naming offensive,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: but because it's coordinators, and it just makes me start
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: to begin to feel like we were we ever really
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: good at it, and if we were or weren't. Why
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: weren't we firing the people doing these things right? The
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: drafting and scouting of receivers. But what do you guys
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: think about that? I think you're anoying ignoring over a
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: decade of excellence, like complete and total excellence for Bill
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Belichick and his drafting. Well, yeah, so that would mean
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: that all the players that they picked, like Matt Light,
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: Richard Seymour, Vince Willford, Ben you know, like all those
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: guys weren't good if they didn't win. They won, Because
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: that's why I said, you're ignoring over a decade worth
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: of dominance. Like if you want to talk without that
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: about that first round but not the first bound vote?
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: What have we really like? And now not not talking
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: about the teams? I mean the draft thing. Okay, so
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: we've been scouting with my receivers. But okay, so like,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: how did you like Chandler Jones and Dante high Tower?
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: I love them? Okay with with with Chandler Jones, we
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: do what I'll what would be getting rid of. But
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: that's a different story. Yeah, but that's a different You
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: said you want to fire him because he you know,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: if they didn't win the drafts were were suspect. Now
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: I would tell you in the last five years that's
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: one thousand percent accurate. I'm not going to sit here
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: and tell you that the twenty twenty draft was good
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: or the twenty you know, the twenty seventeen draft with
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: you know, Derek Rivers and Tony Garcia and you know
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: those like, I'm not telling you that's a good draft,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: but I think but I think from two thousand to
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: about I don't know, thirteen fourteen that they drafted really well,
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: very consistently. Please allow me to reprase the question what
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: a draft? What draft outside of like Tom Brady excellent,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: did we do well? And if that makes any sense,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: like if we take away Tom Brady players like who
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: we who were you placing Tom Brady with? Though? Like
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: are you replacing him with Ryan Mallett? Well, what did
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: he think? But let's say let's say we had a
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: m who has been guying that when when Tom went
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: up for the season, Um, you know he got Castle
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Mat Castle? Right? So do you think Matt Castle was
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: great and that's why they went eleven and five? Or
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: do you think they had a really good team, like
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: like good personnel team, the team was good, Matt, what
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: are you there? Yeah, I think I think we lost
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: and lost him, you know in Christian calls all the time,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: and like, you know what, it's not necessarily an argument.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: I just think that he's downplaying a lot of stuff.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: His point is they it's it's Brady, okay, and that's fine.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: A lot of people think that. I'm not. I'm not.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I'm not arguing with it's Brady that they won six
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: super Bowls and went to nine, but it was also
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: the rest of the team that helped them get there
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: as well, you know, like he he he made them
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: a dynasty, but I think they were also a good team.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: Like they would have won six super Bowls. I'm not
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: saying that without Brady or gone to nine. I'm not
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: saying that. But he doesn't go to all those without
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: the supporting casts either. There were super Bowls where if
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: Dante Hidetower doesn't make a crazy play that you don't
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: even know, I'm just kidding. I mean, there was something
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: that I was waiting for Alex's chime, its like, and
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: they were all they were all like close games. The
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: only one that really wasn't was the thirteenth and six
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: game or whatever. Was a close game. It was, but
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: ten minutes it didn't seem that way. It seems like
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: to me it didn't like the Rams. That's because because
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: you were like me and you knodded off in the
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: middle of that. I was boring Super Bowl boring. I
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: was in the edge of my seat, but I was
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: very Our defense was playing so well. And when you
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: when your def when but we had Tom Brady, when
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: your defense is playing well, you feel comfortable. Are you
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: trying to say that you thought they were going to win? Yes, okay,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I thought they were gonna win two ye. It doesn't
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: mean it was. It was not. No, but compared to
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: the others, oh, that was. It was close. Compared to
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: the others. The others were like winning on a field
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: goal at the end of the game, you know that
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: type of thing, or coming back from you know, amazing
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: how much time was left when Gronk got made that
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: catch to get down to the one, like Alex, do
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: you remember that it was halfway through the fourth it's
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: three to three. I know, but it didn't It didn't
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: feel I thought the Patriots are gonna win the whole game,
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: and even but I kind of think that all the
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: game and the Eagles win the Super Bowl, Like it
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: was a closer game than it felt the Eagles, you
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: know the first one, see I thought, yeah, I don't know,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: I thought they were gonna win that game the whole way.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I agree, But it was still a close game score wise,
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: Like that was close. They had a chance at the
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: end and he threw it interception. I think that I
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: think the rams was closer than than that game was.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: That was the problem is the Eagles kept turning it over. Yeah. Um,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: but I agree with Alex's point about you know that
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Brady obviously is the key, but you need like I
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: just think that Christian is sort of downplaying some of
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: the great players that Build drafted high towers won that
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: Alex brought up, Like the good example is they went undefeated,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: you know, you know, sixteen and oh with Brady and
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: oh seven, he gets hurt. They play an entire season
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: without him. They were still eleven and six without Tom Brady.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: That's a five game difference. That's enormous, No, it is.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: But you're eleven and five with a guy who's never
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: played quarterback in the NFL R So you had to
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: have some other good players, right, They were stacked. There's
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: no question they hit. They there was a reason that
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: a lot of people went into that oh eight season
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: thinking that they could finish it this year, right, they
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: could go you know, all the way and go undefeated again. Yeah,
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: but you know, he gets hurt ten minutes into the season. Ye.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: But I, like I said, I if you want to
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: talk to me about you know, the last five six drafts, Yeah,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: Bill struggled, you know, the Duke Dawson's and I mean
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: just look at some of these names here. I mean,
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: Malcolm Brown, Jordan Richards, Geno Grissom, first three picks in fifteen,
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: that's not good. You know, Cyrus Jones, Joe Tuney, great pick,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: you know, Jacoby Brisette, Vincent Valentine. You know that's sixteen seventeen,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: it's Derek Rivers, Tony Garcia, you know, dietrich Wise good
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: pick after that. So there's a lot more missus than hits. Yeah,
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: you know, and then it gets really you know, Isaiah
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: win Sony, Michelle, Duke Dawson, right, you know, Nikkil, Harry
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: Jowan Williams. You're getting like virtually nothing out of these guys,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Chase Winovich. So but again it's inarguable. It's also inarguable
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: that they drafted much better than Christians given him credit
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: for before when they you know, originally got good yea,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: And yes, Brady made it great. Yeah, Brady always gave
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: you a chance to win it all. But you needed
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: the other pieces too. Mike is in Georgia. Hey, Hey,
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: how you guys doing. I gotta I gotta pick up
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: the case, so I'm gonna get right to it. And
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: then uh um li'sten to you, you guys reply. But now,
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: if you go back to our first Super Bowl, which
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: was like oh one o two against the against the Rams,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: one of the Rams players said, I can't tell you
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: who the Pages have on uh offense, one of their
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: defensive players that I can't name any of their receivers.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: So I didn't bring that up to say we've we've
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: never had like those offensive cards, you know, other than
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: like you know, Welter Edelman or something like that, you know,
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: when when he was past his prime. But we've never
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: had those those those top dogs, you know that that
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: could you know, go up and get it or whatever
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: the case that's that's gonna you know, bring us all
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: the way through the season, you know, Uh, we we
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: we've never had those top tier yeah, like you can
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: say it more and more emphatically, but they have and
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: when they and when they got the top tier guys,
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: they went undefeated. We had Randy Moss, we had Welker,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: we had you know, uh Grunkowski. Yes, they won with
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Troy Brown as their top receiver, no. One, and they
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: proved that they could win. Yeah, and then they went
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: undefeated when they got like the greatest receiver of the generation.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: But I think I think I know what you say,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: Like recently they don't have you know, the CD Lambs
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: in the dk metcasts and those guys. We haven't. That's
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: a problem. Yeah, recently we haven't had those guys. You're right,
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: you're right, But right, but to the point, Bill still
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: made a way to you know, even you go back
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: to what Bill still made a way. Well, I'll say
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: Bill and his staff made a way for the Pages
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: to come out and win. Yeah. Now right by running
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: the ball and playing defense. You can't do that anymore. Right,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: But now to my question, how much do you think
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: the loss of rain Trust has contributed to the Patriots
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: problem Because back then we had but Charlie wife, Robio O'Connell.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: I mean, guys were awesome, But I think I think
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: you're onto something, Mike on that. I think, you know,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: the constant brain drain, you know, losing guys every other year. Um,
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: I think it has to hurt. It has to hurt,
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: you know. Well, it used to be there was guys
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: that were around for six, seven, eight years, and then
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: when a guy left, then they send it to a position.
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: Right now, in eighteen Flores left and took a bunch
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: of guys, you know, Patricia left and took now Josh
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: left and took you know, four or five guys like that.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: It's just a handful of seasons, right what she said.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: And you know when Charlie left, he left for the college,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: you know, right, yeah, But but also you had like
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Josh was here for five years. Ye when when Charlie left, right,
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: he knew what he was doing. Also, I'm saying like
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: Charlie didn't take a bunch of people. Well I know that,
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: but I'm just saying, so Josh and oh five called
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: the place he had been on a like he had
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: been part of it as an assistant for a while now,
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: And I want to be disrespectful to the people because
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: I don't know how good a coaches they are. But
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: you know, you went from eighteen. It's like Flores leaves
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: and takes a couple of guys with him and like,
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: you know, boy or in O'Shea, those kinds of sipping away,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: you know, Chip, Chip, I mean, how many different quarterbacks
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: coaches have they had the last three or four years?
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: Mick Lombardi, Bohart agree, missing somebody like Yeah, it seems
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: like it's a revolving door, going back to like Jerry Schaplinsky. Oh,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: what's the guy? Um, Jimmy Stewart. I make the Jimmy
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: Stewart name with him. Uh, you know, I always whenever
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: we talk about him, what was his name? What was
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: his name? M Oh, come on? He went to Did
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: he go to Miami? I know, just because of your
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: your stupid noses bleeding? I know that you know who
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: I'm talking. I don't know who it is. I'm looking.
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: I'm looking it up. Yeah, he was the QB coach
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: for a cop. I'm not going able to read this
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: type without my glasses, all right, he's making fun of me. Thanks, Mike,
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: appreciate the call. I'm looking. Yeah, it was. It was George, George, George,
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: that's it, George, George, God me, George George. Yeah, he
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: left with Bill O'Brien, right right, Yeah, But I do
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: think the brain drain of the coaching staff, and like
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: Alex said, it's the last couple of times it's been
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: stacked together. You lost four or five guys with Floors,
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: then two years later you're losing four or five guys
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: with McDaniel. It happened. I mean, you lose guys to retirement,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: probably by force, right, or by necessity rather not force. Ye,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: I hope. Oh, Jed Fish. Jed Fish is the other
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: quarterbacks coach. I think you've had four quarterbacks coaches the
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: last four years. Yeah, Like, that's hard, that's not good.
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: Let's go to Steve in New York case, Steve oh Man,
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: you guys been talking about what I was going to
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: say him do the same thing with the with the coaching. UM.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: I think that if we had this team with um uh,
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: you know, if we had the Skarnakia and um you
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: know Josh McDaniels or you know, it doesn't have to
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: be him, but you know one of our other coordinators,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: if you had in the past, I think we would
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: feel a little bit better because then we can think, oh,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: the coaches can bring this around. But you look at
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: it now and you think, Okay, Matt Patricia. I'm not
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: gonna say whether or not you know he can coach
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: the offensive line or play calls. I mean, you know,
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: give the guy a chance. You know, I think, you know,
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: give him a chance to prove himself. But I do
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: think Bill has set him up to fane you. There's
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: no way this guy can coach the offensive line, coach
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: the technique you need to do, um, get these guys
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: up to snuff, and then also at the same time
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: develop a game plan and call plays on the game day.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: That just I don't see how we can do that
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: always him. I'd be like, all right, Bill, either maybe
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: play caller and get someone else as a full time
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: offensive line coach or you know, vice versa, because it's
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: just not going to work. And I think that we
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: need to have some more either assistance or someone to
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: help these guys because you look at the talent. I mean,
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: I was listening to Greg Barnard, you know, saying that
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: you know, we do have talented offensive line, but you know,
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: a cold, strange technique. Look looks off the rest of
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: the cards. I'm not doing what the rest of the
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: offensive line or not doing what they're supposed to. And
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: it's like, these guys have the talent, but we just
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: don't have the coaching around them to support them. And
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I think that's where you see the player frustrations right
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: now in that piece. We'll see, we'll see if they
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: have the talent. Thanks day. Henry is in Leeds, England.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: Hey Henry, all right, ups. First, first thing reason I'm
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: call and it's just that I had my first time
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: a clumb Childer the other day. Oh it was delicious.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: Where did you have it? The popb Oh? Okay, that's
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: so in England you had clam chowder? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: so it wasn't a profit clum sholder. It was guy.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe they do really good clam chowder.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: I don't know, but you know that's a you know
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: what a place. Yeah, and my my question really, um,
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: I think not well, at least from my perspective. Start
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: of the media covers, I go over here, there's a
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: lot of sort of questions around how good the team's
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: gonna be a playoff team, blah blah blah, and I'm
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: just wondering, from your guys perspective, at what point does
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: sort of max individual success out with the other team. Um? Yeah,
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: I'll take off one, guys, all right, thank you. I
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: don't know what the question was. Did you hear the
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: question out? At one point does max individual something outweigh
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: the whole team? Okay? So it's kind of like what
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: we're talking about earlier in the show, Fred, Like, if
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: MAC is showing development, that to you and I I
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: believe is more important really than the record. It gives
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: me hope. We hope that they win games obviously and
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: make the playoffs. But if MAC is playing well and
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: trending upward, I think that that would be something that's
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: encouraging for the future regardless. Right, right, So I think
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: that does away with the team. I think max is
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: it built? Is it easier to build around a good
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: quarterback or is it easier to build around a good team?
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: I think quarterback? Right? You got it? Personally, it's so
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: hard to find that good quarterback, you know. Um, Spi
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: and Fresno with the Patriots finished this year with a
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: top five draft pick, would you take Brady back for
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: one more run? No? I would take a quarterback and
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: with the top five, like, why would you you know, oh,
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: so you get you would trade the top five pick
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: for Brady? Maybe thanks, that's what he's saying. Yeah, I
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: wouldn't do that. I don't think Brady would come back.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I don't think he would come back either, but I
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: wouldn't want him back. Honestly. I would want to rebuild.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: I want to get better. Uh. Jim James Pettigrew, the
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: most interesting pages fan in the world, says rank, I think,
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: rank in order of favorability, these potential scenarios for this
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: year and looking forward. And this is a quarterback head
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: coach combos, rank in order of favorability, Mac and Josh,
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: Mac and Bill, Tom and Bill, Tom and Josh this
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: year and going forward? What I would like to have
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: right now Mac and Josh. No, Bill and Tom. No,
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: he said this year and looking forward. I thought he
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: was asking what the best combination was for this year
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: and going Bill and Tom. I'll take that and going forward. Yeah, Okay,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: you're only gonna get one or two more years out
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: of Tom. That's okay. I'll take my one or two
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: years of dominance across that bridge. You get there, right, okay, uh,
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: he says, I think Mac and Josh would be my favorite.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: I agree. Not sure if the worst is Mac and
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: Bill or end of career Doushy Tom trying to undermine
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: new coach Josh. Okay, I'm just off of the like
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: the dominance. I think Bill is the best and I
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: think Tom is the best, and I'll take that for
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: however long it lasts. Well, but you know it's not
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: gonna last long. I think it's but I don't know
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: that the other one's going to be any good. That's
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: the well. I know that Tom and Bill is good
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: because I saw it for only a short period of time,
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: like the world could end, even it's twenty one years
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: a period. Anthony Sony di sign with the charges. We
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: were right, yeah, Anthony with Delaware in Delaware, have you
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: guys talked about Terrence Mitchell being cut instead of donuts?
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: I kid he was cut, but he got on the
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: practice squad not listening live. So Paul, don't kill me.
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: If someone answered, you'd already. Matt Jones's numbers under center
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: verse shotgun are under center one hundred and forty nine attempts,
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: one hundred and four completions, eleven hundred and seventy one yards,
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: six touchdowns, five picks, ninety two point five rating. Shotgun
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: three hundred and seventy two attempts, two hundred forty eight completions,
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: two thousand, six hundred and thirty yards, sixteen touchdowns, eight picks,
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: ninety two point five ratings. So they're both the same.
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: I then think Paul wanted to know his numbers under
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: centered with play action. Pro Football Reference has play action numbers,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: but not sure if all of them were under center.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: I'm sure Deuce could look it up. So what was this?
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: This was like some discussion we had. Yeah, I mean
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: I appreciate all the numbers in the effort, I was
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: not really interested in the numbers. I was interested in
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: your opinion, Fred and my opinion. When we talked on Tuesday,
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: Um Alex about Mac under center as opposed to shotgun.
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: Does anybody remember that being a problem last year, him
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: being under center, Like, oh, you can't have him under center,
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: and he he just doesn't look comfortable. Like now that
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: seems to be a big thing. Just get him in
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: the shotgun, let him spread it out. But this is
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: what he does best. I don't remember it being a
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: problem last and this is what people don't understand, Like
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: it's really inside football, right, but like there's a big
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: difference between play action under center and play action shotgun.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: Oh huge. You can do both, but they develop differently.
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: And if you can't develop your play action under center,
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: you're putting yourself in a hole. But the other thing is,
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily interested in numbers because the number under
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: center is so much smaller that it's it's skewed. Yeah,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: it's about half even, you know, even good or bad. Yeah,
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: you know, Like so those numbers turned out to be
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: very similar. I think the passer rating was exactly the
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: same change, right, Yeah, so Mike, I guess what I'm
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: trying to wonder is does he not look comfortable to you? Well?
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: That was the one thing about him last year that
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: it was just how poised he always looked and how comfortable.
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: And it's just I don't know if it's a trust
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: thing this year, but it's a little different. I agree,
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: And that's what I'm wondering, is the trust it doesn't
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: have something to do with under center or not, because
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: it seems like a lot of people are Evan Is
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: on this. You know, Evan and I have talked about
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: this a lot off the air. Is it just because
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: he's under center and it's not what he wants to do? Yeah,
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: let's see Brett and Haliburton Ontario. After seeing this initial
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: fifty three man roster, I looked at it in terms
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: of how many guys are all Pro potentials for this year,
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: not Pro Bowl, all Pro. I came up with maybe
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: Jude On, maybe Bailey, barn more question Mark, but not
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: a three down guy yet. So really only two guys.
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: What do you guys think? Yeah? You know what's I'll
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: due respect to the punter that's chairs yeah, um yeah,
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: I don't think there's a lot of star power on
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: the roster. Do you have another all Pro candidate? Ex
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: list is my list? I like I like Barmore, yep,
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: I really like Barmore And I thought I saw signs
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: in that last preseason game that Bill was a little
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: bit more willing to play him with more downs. So
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: I'm hoping, Yeah, I hope. So, I mean if he's
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: just a third down guy, then his value goes way down, right,
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: because because I don't think he's a natural pass rusher.
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: I think he's a natural pocket collapser. Yeah, he's he's
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: His superpower is strength. He's strong as an ox. You
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: know you can't You can't block him with one guy.
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: Um Jim in Pittsburgh writes in just curious, what are
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: the chances that Belichick's text to b Flow about the
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Giants job wasn't an accident at all? I've heard this before.
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: Zero percent. Yeah, I agree. I hadn't heard about any
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: bad blood between the two coaches. Do you think this
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: was his way of using an innocent mistake to let
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: Flores know the Giants were using him and perhaps Coach
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Bill didn't like it. No, it was a mistake. That's
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: also just so mean to do to someone like Bill.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: Can't be that cold. Yeah, I think there's a zero
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: percent chance. Yeah, that hit that that was mean anything,
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: But I've made that mistake. You have a lot of
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: people on your phone with the same first name. You
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: put him on your contacts with just the first name.
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: Make the name, you make that mistake. You gotta have
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: last name, first last name, if not the company they
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: worked for too, or how you know them. I have
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: it all. That's because you network. I don't have anybody
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: like that. Also, because in high school I texted a girl,
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: and I meant to text my best friend, but I
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: texted the girl but it wasn't good. Well, it was fine,
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: but it was awkward. I did it with my son's
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: youth basketball coach. I thought I was texting my brother
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, this guy asked him to
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: be on the on the Top team. I go, problem
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: is he's a bit of an a hole. Oh sent
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: to the guy? Oops, Um, George and Madison, New Jersey.
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: I randomly just finished watching a Breaking Bad followed by
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: A Better Call Saul Marathon. That's this is directed at me.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: If you ever ended up like Hector Salamanca where you
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: needed to give you a bell to communicate, would you
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: still do the show? Ring one? Yes, Ring two? No.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: You know what he's talking about. He's watched a Better
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: Call Saul nor the guy he can't talk, so he's
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: got this bell. Okay, Yeah, No, I wouldn't do that.
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: I wouldn't do that. No, we'd set you up with
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: a white board and we would just say what you're writing, okay,
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: A blink one blink. Uh. Let me just throw a
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: few questions out there to see how it work. Um,
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: do they sign mac Jones to a long term contract
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: next year? Uh one ring b Yes, No, they can't.
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: They could extend him next year. Why not because he's
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: only two years as his contract and to wait till
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: after the third year. Oh, after the third year. Okay,
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: so unless that's changed, I mean I could, as as
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: I often am with the contract Minutia, I could be wrong.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: Does JOHNU. Smith break five hundred receiving yards this year?
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: John U? Smith? Five hundred yards? I'll say no, So
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: it's bing bing? Oh? Okay bing bing? Yeah? Uh? And
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: does Devin ASIASI get cut by the Bengals, and if so,
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: does he end up on the Patriots practice squad? I
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: have no. I'm gonna say he doesn't get caught by
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: the Bengals because I think they signed another tight end too,
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: so they must need tight ends. Okay, all right, Um,
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: let's see Benn and Brooklyn writes in he says, while
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: the criticism of Bill's recent drafts is fair game, I
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: feel like the pendulum has tipped too far for context.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: Minnesota just cut Kellen Mond sixty six overall different and
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: the Niners cut Trey Sermon. Both were taken two years ago.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: I'm sure there are other examples. Alex Leatherwood, but different regimes.
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: The Niners isn't, but Minnesota the what's his face? Kevin
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: O'Connell is the first year coach, so he obviously doesn't
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: like Kellen Mond. Yeah. And by the way, Kellen Mond
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: was taken with like the sixty six pick of the draft. Right,
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: that's a little different than you know, like a first
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: round pick Alex Leatherwood. That's astonishing, even though it was
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: a previous regime that took him. That was Mayock, Yeah,
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: your boy mayok, yeah, Mike and Gruden. I can I mean,
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm wrong. I'm sure there were examples. I
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: can't think of one first round pick ever that got
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: cut the next year that didn't have something to do
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: with something off the field, right, I can't think of that. Second.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: While I love Brady, the take that it was all
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: him is too much would be like Cole Strange gets
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: cut next year after after training camp. Yeah, can you
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: think of that? Like I think this place would like
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: burn down? Oh yeah, I think Brady threw for one
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: touchdown combined in the two Rams Super Bowls. So that's
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: his take that it's not all Brady. What difference does
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: it make? What happens in one game. Yeah, I think
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: he threw. He threw for like a combined eight hundred
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: yards in the two playoff games to get to the
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: Super Bowl. Against the Rams in eighteen, they threw for
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: like three fifty and it's the Chargers and Chiefs. Think
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: about that Chiefs game third and tens, right, right, Um,
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: let's see, I'll tell you. I know the guy's gotten
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: a little strange since he's left. But does this mean
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: we have to like trash everything he accomplished like to
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: that extent, right, Mike our Mark Wrights, and we lost
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: a lot of very season coaches. Of course, it looks
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: bad and you can't and you just can't rehire. It
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: takes time. Him to Gael you could you chose not to.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: There's a difference there. They need to get to know
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: each other. I think the talents there for mac um.
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: Next next step is to win games. Yeah, okay, uh
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: and he will, says Mark. So Mark is very uh. Yeah,
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: I totally agree with this point about the coaches. They
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: lost a lot of coaches in a short amount of time.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: They did. Yeah, I mean I think that to be
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: surprised that Josh McDaniels was going to get a job
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: at some point and leave and not be prepared to
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: replace him is kind of negligent. Just like a few
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: years ago, he was literally one foot out the door
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: ready to go to He came back for the second
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: time Alex in twenty twelve, Like, you had to know
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: he was going to get another job and leave at
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: some point, and I don't think they had a plenty
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: almost did and then decided to stay for it. Seemed
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: like the narrative was that he was getting the keys
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: to the kingdom and he was going to eventually take
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: over this team. But I know, I know what the
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: narrative was. Fred, you want to tell Alex about the
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: narrative about you know, Bill was gonna have McDaniel succeed him, right,
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: what what? Why don't you tell Alex what the plan?
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: It's not his decision. Fred gets very mad when people
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: say that Bill is situating things. So this guy does
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: this and this guy replaces him, and friends like, it's
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: not his decision to make. It will not be his
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: decision exactly that. I totally agree with Fred, it won't be. Yeah,
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: So this whole succession plan that people are talking about
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: doesn't exist. Yeah, The only people who know what that is?
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: Are the crafts? That's it? Oh listen, you might want
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: to listen to this little word toward the end of
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: the show. But guess who's back for practice. I felt good.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: I like that good. It might be the last time
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: we get it. I know it might be amazing. I
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: had to run in quick. I know, I know time
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: was running out, so I just wanted to, uh to
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: come in just to say Isaiah Win was not at
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: practice today, so traded Freddy's on the trade block. He
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: was in the locker room earlier, so I don't know.
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: I don't know if he was traded, but did he
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: have a big hefty bag this guys right? He had
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: one of those sticks with the bag tied to it
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: at the end like see you later, guys. So that
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: was interesting. I mean he's been around, so they were
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: full pads yesterday. Um a couple number changes too, I
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: know Mike Grease tweeted out that Jack Jones was moving
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: to thirteen. That that does not happened yet, so threw
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: it off. Threw us off a little bit, but um yeah,
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: otherwise I just watched stretching. But I know you guys
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: are run on time, so I felt like, I did
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: we have a thirteen in camp? I don't think, so,
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: why did you just go to that when he got
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: his number of now, I don't think so, I don't know.
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: I don't know, that's all. I was wondering what that
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: conversation is, like, who do you go to ask permission
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: to do that? Well, and the coach is weird about it.
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: It can be now hit like the little little inside
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: retail Freddy. Yeah, sometimes if you have a guy who
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: you're selling his jersey in the pro shop, say they
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: have to buy them. Yeah, if they're going to change
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: the number, they have to pay for like the existing inventory. Yeah,
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: let's see, you're gonna cost us money. No, No, So
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: what he got like, I mean, it was quick, I
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: think like they were just starting drills. But I wanted
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: to get that get into to give that little report.
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: So otherwise, a couple of the new guys Boden was
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: out there eighty um, but no no sign of this
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: other guy, Liberty Wattson that had a locker in the
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: locker room. So for now it seems like everything's, you know,
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: kind of the same. But yeah, a little bit of
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: an interesting twist stadium as they went good, a lot
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: of media, a lot of media. Thank god, thank you
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: to the security guards, like heads up, guys, and like
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: kind of pushed us out of the way. His bill
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: was coming through, like he was coming up hot behind us,
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: and we didn't quite realize it. And the security guard
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: was just gave us a little like, you know, move
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: over a little bit, guys, you know, gave us the
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: heads up here. God forbid being watched. But a mood day,
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: beautiful day mood. H they have good mood, good mood.
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: Fell like some good energy out there, I think, I mean,
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: I'm probably everybody's excited to get the heck out of here.
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: I would guess how college football this weekend? College football
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: College football fights pit West Virginia tonight. Oh yeah, is
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: that good? It's not a good one. No, Kenny, pick
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: it anymore than you astounded me. How you only know
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: one thing? Actually one in the hand. You know, the
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: Patriots you appreciate and Holy Cross Hockey. That's it. Our own.
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: Tamara Brown will be on the sideline for the South
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: Carolina Georgia Tech game. Yeah, be on the lookout for her. Exciting,
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: very excited TB. We called her t oh, I thought,
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: I looked at Alex. I was like, that wasn't elx.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: Sounds are good, but uh yeah so we I mean,
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: I don't know what. Almost see him again maybe Monday,
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: but tomorrow she'll be maybe not oh oh yeah, okay, hurt?
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: Yeah maybe or maybe you know what, they just grab her. Hey,
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Freddie wouldn't be the first one we lost like that poacher, right,
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: another one that left me behind kidnapper. All right, Well,
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: that's gonna be it for this edition of the show.
