- 0:18Speaker 2: bringing you some joy. Might have happened over the weekend,
- 0:20Speaker 2: could be happening this week. Tell us everything you know

- 0:31Speaker 2: how is your weekend? You're feeling good today for any
- 0:34Speaker 2: sort of reason?
- 0:35Speaker 3: You know, it was a very jam packed weekend. Saturday,
- 0:37Speaker 3: got together with some cousins for brunch founding farmers up
- 0:43Speaker 3: here in Rockville, and then yesterday it was a marathon
- 0:48Speaker 3: final rehearsal for my son's show that he's in I
- 0:53Speaker 3: Cave Alice in Wonderland.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Huh.
- 0:56Speaker 3: And he has two performances today and two performances tomorrow.
- 1:00Speaker 5: And then he's done. Wow, And I'll be helping him
- 1:03Speaker 5: backstage two and two. Yes, Well that's better than Broadway.
- 1:07Speaker 5: You know, they do two performances a day. They're dark
- 1:09Speaker 5: on one day, but then after that it's just non stop.
- 1:12Speaker 5: But this is how it starts for, you know, theater moms.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I don't know if he's going to pursue this any
- 1:18Speaker 3: much longer, but yeah, it's fun. It's been fun while
- 1:20Speaker 3: it lasted. Why Why are you feeling good on a Monday?
- 1:22Speaker 2: I feel great today because I was talking with Crash,
- 1:25Speaker 2: our super producer, and we were comparing notes on air
- 1:29Speaker 2: purifiers because we have an affinity for the same kind
- 1:32Speaker 2: of air purifier, and I had to ask him. I said, hey, man,
- 1:38Speaker 2: I think I've been breathing bad air because I've been
- 1:40Speaker 2: waking up the last couple of nights with coughing fits.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And I don't know exactly what it is. It could
- 1:44Speaker 2: be anything. I'm not a doctor, but I know that
- 1:47Speaker 2: breathing bad, dusty air is not good. So I followed
- 1:51Speaker 2: his advice. I went outside with these filters and beat
- 1:54Speaker 2: them all down and tried to get as much of
- 1:56Speaker 2: the stuff out of it as I could, and lo
- 1:59Speaker 2: and behold, I feel like I'm pretty successful.
- 2:02Speaker 6: Good.
- 2:02Speaker 2: However, I'm even more successful because I replaced the filters
- 2:07Speaker 2: with some that I found on the internet. That's well,
- 2:09Speaker 2: they sent to me for like two for one deal.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So I'm just lucky now. Thank God, I can sleep
- 2:15Speaker 2: and breathe easy, and that's why I'm feeling good and
- 2:18Speaker 2: I have some joy this morning. Perhaps you have some
- 2:20Speaker 2: joy to share with the class. You know where to
- 2:22Speaker 2: find us, Feel free to do so, because joy is contagious,

- 3:17Speaker 3: expected to face federal charges today, and King Charles and
- 3:22Speaker 3: Queen Camilla's US visit to DC today is going to
- 3:26Speaker 3: continue as scheduled, with Buckingham Palace noting that the King
- 3:29Speaker 3: was relieved. The President and other officials were not harmed
- 3:33Speaker 3: in that incident. A tour bus caring about forty passengers
- 3:37Speaker 3: overturned early yesterday on the BW Parkway. This happened near
- 3:40Speaker 3: one ninety eight, left one person with life threatening injuries,
- 3:44Speaker 3: and the cause remains under investigation. A fourteen year old

- 5:15Speaker 3: morning mindset quote.
- 5:16Speaker 2: From Booker T. Washington that man was incredible.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Booker T.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Washington says, if you want to lift yourself up, lift
- 5:24Speaker 2: up someone else. If you want to lift yourself up,
- 5:28Speaker 2: lift up someone else. See this is important for us
- 5:31Speaker 2: because in this life right sometimes we allow all of us,
- 5:37Speaker 2: we allow ourselves to become very self centric. And when
- 5:41Speaker 2: you're self centric, you're not really super concerned about what
- 5:43Speaker 2: other people are going through, but trust that other people
- 5:46Speaker 2: are going through something you have no idea about. And
- 5:49Speaker 2: when you help to elevate those people, when you help
- 5:52Speaker 2: to pick them up, to lift them up, you're lifting
- 5:55Speaker 2: yourself up at the same time. So if you want
- 5:59Speaker 2: to lift yourself up today this week, lift up someone else.

- 6:35Speaker 6: Coming up in just a few minutes.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Right on, and we'll tell you where you need to
- 6:38Speaker 2: be to crash some paparazzi shots.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Hang out Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 6:43Speaker 2: It is ninety seven point one wash FM, DC preparing
- 6:46Speaker 2: for something extraordinary this spring. For the first time in
- 6:51Speaker 2: almost two decades, a British monarch and the consort we'll
- 6:54Speaker 2: cross the Atlantic for a state visit here in the US.
- 6:59Speaker 2: And it's all It all ties in perfectly when you
- 7:02Speaker 2: think about King Charles the Third and Queen Camilla coming
- 7:05Speaker 2: because this royal visit comes during America's two hundred and
- 7:08Speaker 2: fiftieth anniversary, which makes it a very cool thing for
- 7:11Speaker 2: people in DC.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 3: So they're arriving today actually, and this is their officials.
- 7:16Speaker 3: They're going to have a private tea with the President
- 7:18Speaker 3: and First Lady Little Garden Party celebrating the special relationship
- 7:22Speaker 3: between the two countries today, and then they've got a
- 7:26Speaker 3: bunch of different events throughout the week, like tomorrow, the
- 7:30Speaker 3: King is going to deliver historic address to a joint
- 7:33Speaker 3: session of Congress, and then there's a state dinner at
- 7:35Speaker 3: the White House tomorrow night, and then they're going to
- 7:37Speaker 3: head up to New York City for nine to eleven
- 7:40Speaker 3: Memorial visit, right, and then come back here to Virginia
- 7:44Speaker 3: to celebrate the American heritage and talk about the environment
- 7:47Speaker 3: and celebration and all this other stuff. So there's a
- 7:50Speaker 3: lot going on in the next three days.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if Harry popped up with Megan.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Just wouldn't be surprised if that happened in DC or
- 7:57Speaker 2: in Virginia somewhere.
- 7:59Speaker 4: I would not at all surprised.
- 8:00Speaker 6: It would be shocked if that actually happened.
- 8:02Speaker 3: That would be because you know, they're beef and also
- 8:05Speaker 3: they probably don't want to take attention away from what's
- 8:07Speaker 3: really going on. And if it happened, I don't know
- 8:11Speaker 3: that we would have photographic proof of it.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Well I don't know, but I just know that I
- 8:14Speaker 4: think it would be a great thing for them.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Of course it would be great if it happened. But
- 8:18Speaker 3: I'm not saying I don't think it's going to happen.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I hear you, But I'm optimistic because I like to
- 8:22Speaker 2: see families come back together, and they have had some drama.
- 8:26Speaker 2: But if you're going to go to any of these
- 8:28Speaker 2: public type events, are going to be around them, just
- 8:30Speaker 2: you know, monitor like the National Park Service, Capital Police,
- 8:33Speaker 2: like there's stuff on Twitter x whatever you want to
- 8:36Speaker 2: call it today playing on crowds, arrive early, travel light
- 8:40Speaker 2: because you know, chances are good you'll probably encounter security.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And if you have any King and Queen sightings, tag
- 8:47Speaker 3: us wash FM on your photos because we'll just repost them.
- 8:50Speaker 3: That would be you know, out in the wild, monarchs

- 15:35Speaker 4: The name is dog, right, but dog?
- 15:37Speaker 6: They spell the word dog correct. You don't think people

- 16:40Speaker 3: I had his mom and she gave birth to him
- 16:43Speaker 3: under my daughter's bed.

- 22:20Speaker 3: We have a story that we think will make your Monday.
- 22:22Speaker 3: A Facebook post and a decade's old friendship led to
- 22:25Speaker 3: a life saving surprise for a Virginia woman. You'll get
- 22:29Speaker 3: to hear all about it in minutes.
- 22:31Speaker 2: These days, it's so important for us to seize on
- 22:35Speaker 2: good news news and makes us feel great about life, humanity,
- 22:39Speaker 2: and we think we found a story that might just
- 22:41Speaker 2: make your Monday. Here at ninety seven point one WASHFM,
- 22:43Speaker 2: We're Toby and Chilly in the Morning, and let's go back.
- 22:46Speaker 2: It all started with a simple post on Facebook. A
- 22:49Speaker 2: woman in Virginia made that post, but it turned into
- 22:52Speaker 2: something that really was life changing.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Debbie Wingfield, who lives by the Way in Virginia's northern
- 22:57Speaker 3: Shenandoah Valley, had known for a long time time that
- 23:00Speaker 3: the day would come where Because kidney disease runs in
- 23:04Speaker 3: her family, she knew that she would eventually need a transplant,
- 23:08Speaker 3: and last spring that moment came. She decided to reach
- 23:11Speaker 3: out in a very personal way. She created a very
- 23:14Speaker 3: small Facebook group of about nineteen people and asked if
- 23:17Speaker 3: anyone might be willing to help her out.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Of course, she didn't know what to expect, but behind
- 23:22Speaker 2: the scenes, somebody saw the post and somebody felt like
- 23:26Speaker 2: they needed to take action. At first, Debbie was only
- 23:30Speaker 2: told that a donor had come forward. They didn't say who,
- 23:33Speaker 2: there were no details. But then the surprise, Laura Bohrer,
- 23:38Speaker 2: a friend from the Navy, had stepped up, a friend
- 23:42Speaker 2: she hadn't seen in forty years.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yeah, the two of them had served together back in
- 23:46Speaker 3: the eighties, among the first women assigned to a Navy ship.
- 23:49Speaker 6: They were very close back then.
- 23:51Speaker 3: But like a lot of friendships, right, life took them
- 23:53Speaker 3: in different directions. But it wasn't until they reconnected on
- 23:56Speaker 3: Facebook that their paths crossed again, just in time for
- 24:00Speaker 3: Laura to see Debbie's message and feel almost instantly compelled
- 24:05Speaker 3: that she needed to help.
- 24:06Speaker 2: They did the testing, they confirmed the match. The two
- 24:09Speaker 2: women got together again, reunited for the first time in
- 24:12Speaker 2: forty years in DC right before the surgery, in fact,
- 24:16Speaker 2: the night before the surgery, and they picked up right
- 24:19Speaker 2: where they left off. And after they reconnected, Laura gave
- 24:23Speaker 2: Debbie the ultimate gift, a kidney and with it, a
- 24:28Speaker 2: new chance at life.
- 24:29Speaker 3: And today both women are doing great. They are sharing
- 24:32Speaker 3: their story through Donate Life Month, hoping that inspires everyone
- 24:36Speaker 3: else to consider becoming donors, because you know, sometimes a
- 24:39Speaker 3: simple message doesn't just reconnect old friends, it can save
- 24:43Speaker 3: a life.
- 24:43Speaker 4: In this case, it did.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And that's why we think this story might just make
- 24:47Speaker 2: your Monday if it did. Find it on the Toby
- 24:49Speaker 2: and Chili page and share it with someone who might
- 24:52Speaker 2: need to feel good about.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Humanity, because that's what this story does.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And if you've got stories to share, we would love
- 24:58Speaker 2: to hear them, send them our way again. You can
- 25:00Speaker 2: find us on the Toby and chilipage at washfm dot com.

- 26:00Speaker 3: old Cole Allen from California allegedly approached a security checkpoint
- 26:04Speaker 3: at the event armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and knives,
- 26:08Speaker 3: and is expected to face federal charges today. DC Council
- 26:12Speaker 3: member Robert White has apologized after deleting a social media
- 26:16Speaker 3: post about the correspondence dinner shooting that called for curfew
- 26:20Speaker 3: and blamed parents. He said his comment was inappropriate and insensitive,
- 26:25Speaker 3: and that he regretted referencing gun violence while making his point. Meanwhile,
- 26:29Speaker 3: Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla's
- 26:33Speaker 3: US visit to DC will go on as planned. They're
- 26:38Speaker 3: set to be greeted by the President and First Lady
- 26:40Speaker 3: at the White House today with tea and a tour
- 26:43Speaker 3: of the grounds, and that's going to be followed by
- 26:46Speaker 3: a formal arrival ceremony tomorrow. A Maryland Highway worker was
- 26:51Speaker 3: killed in Prince George's County over the weekend after he
- 26:53Speaker 3: was hit by a vehicle while he was setting up
- 26:56Speaker 3: traffic cones on the inter Loop of the Beltway in
- 26:59Speaker 3: Forestville after or crash. Police say the incident is still
- 27:02Speaker 3: under investigation. And a Marilyn chef is celebrating a huge
- 27:07Speaker 3: win on the Food Network. Frederick's Brian Voltaggio became the
- 27:12Speaker 3: first man to win Tournament of Champions, taking home one
- 27:16Speaker 3: hundred and fifty thousand dollars prize after edging out his
- 27:19Speaker 3: opponent by just one point. Forecast for today, we'll have
- 27:24Speaker 3: sunny skies with highs around sixty eight right now forty
- 27:27Speaker 3: seven in Fairfax.
- 27:28Speaker 4: And that's the news.

- 28:18Speaker 2: this morning, we wanted to talk with you about what
- 28:21Speaker 2: you're looking forward to most about getting older. There's a
- 28:24Speaker 2: place that's really catering two seniors in a unique way.
- 28:28Speaker 3: In the UK, there's a project that gives elderly people
- 28:32Speaker 3: a chance to go for a joy ride in luxury supercars.
- 28:36Speaker 6: We're talking like Lamborghinis, Ferrari.
- 28:39Speaker 3: It's this is all like a part of an effort
- 28:41Speaker 3: not only to create unforgettable experiences for experiences rather for
- 28:45Speaker 3: these senior citizens, but also a way for them to
- 28:49Speaker 3: combat loneliness.
- 28:50Speaker 2: That's right, because I can guarantee you I would not
- 28:53Speaker 2: be lonely behind the wheel of a Bugatti. I want
- 28:56Speaker 2: to go on a joy ride up and down River
- 28:58Speaker 2: Road in one of these cars. I was to be
- 29:00Speaker 2: one of those retirement community type places along River Road
- 29:05Speaker 2: that had these kind of.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Coffies by the way, when you just brought up the
- 29:08Speaker 3: retirement community company. That is one thing I am looking
- 29:11Speaker 3: forward to as I get older, because some of these
- 29:13Speaker 3: places are like resorts. They've got activities, they've got parties,
- 29:18Speaker 3: they've got a hair salon, they've got their own TV.
- 29:21Speaker 6: Little station thing.
- 29:22Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of that, and I look forward
