Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: what's up browns fans welcome back to another episode of the dogs podcast Josh all your host today it's the Tuesday episode of the podcast here in a very cold Ohio I don't know where you guys are at in the country or whatever my corner of the state is covered in snow it is blistery cold outside so nothing better to do than to sit here and do a podcast for you guys and get some more content out today I want to dive into primarily
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: the suck of the Cleveland Browns just this absolute infectious suck that has infiltrated the team, the organization from the top all the way to the bottom.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk Dylan Gabriel.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to dive into that conversation.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk Kevin Safanski's press conference yesterday.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yihah.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: another doozy right there.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about the special teams and just how bad those have been for the Browns this season.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: But we're going to kick things off with some positive notes about some players too, but before I do any of that, we need to do the most important thing today.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: is thank you to all the veterans.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: Happy veterans day out there.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate everything you all have done for us.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: We know that there's a ton of you guys and gals out there listening to the podcast watching this show and we appreciate your support, but just know that we appreciate everything that you have sacrificed, your courage, your bravery, everything that you have done for us for the
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: It matters.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: It means more than we can possibly vocalize to you because Look at me, I'm not the military guy.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like I was not that person.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: I did not take that risk and I appreciate everybody who did and I always will I will always be eternally grateful for your sacrifice for the things that you have done that you have given up that you have
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: at risk.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, just everything.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Happy Veterans Day and God bless you all.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, let's shift over here to the brown stuff that we want to talk about.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me, if you first bowl.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: We will have another dog pack discord live episode this Thursday at 5 o'clock PM talking about the preview for the Ravens game on Sunday.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to be part of the discord episode, you want to come be like it's like a live call and show if you haven't seen them or listen to them.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: And if you want to be a part of that that's join the dogs dot com become an official dog fat member of the patreon page you sync it up with the private discord that we have.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: And that is where our awesome fantastic dog pack community lives and they're we're they're in there.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: We're in there.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: We're all together 24 seven talking browns talking news talking calves talking guardians the bedding scandal all this stuff like everything that is going on.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: And if you want like minded people to discuss it with share it with and just have people to talk to all the time.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's join the dogs dot com.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so the first thing that I wanted to get into here today on my pull-ups and notes, I actually know the first thing before I dive into notes, I want to play this voice melt here from Sean.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: What's up, dogs?
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: This is Sean in Thailand by way of Toronto.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: So shout out to the Toronto Browns backers.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I live in Thailand and being 12 hours ahead means that I never see the game's live.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Kickoff is usually midnight or like one in the morning.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not staying up on a Sunday night here to watch this Browns team.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: So it's Monday night now and I haven't even, I don't even know what happened in that jazz game, but I'm not imagining good things.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, saying that, I wanted to say that I really appreciate the podcast and the stuff that you guys do.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: I was looking for a Browns podcast like this since Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins had their show, which ended abruptly a few years ago now.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: Because you guys give like real fan takes all the official podcasts and everything, you know, they're just They give fluff and they can't say anything real, but you guys do and so being so far away from the action I really appreciate that.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let me tell you, Sean, thank you for the voicemail that.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: And we really appreciate that the whole idea behind starting this show, this podcast, to begin with, back in 2020, during COVID, during the shutdowns, was listening to, like you said, the official radio host, the official stations, the shows, the programs, the podcasts for the Browns, and being frustrated with it,
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they could at times tiptoe around certain things and certainly, you know, you see the clips on social media with Tony Rizzo just lambasting the team right now about not starting to shit or Sanders and things like that.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: So there are times whenever you get the fan side of those people really come out strong, but it's not all the time.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, back then it was frustrating listening to those shows because it just felt disingenuous at times somewhat forced and we thought, you know what, what if we, and again 2020 when we started this thing, we had no idea it would ever grow.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: into what it is today.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: So again, that is, that is all thanks to you guys out there watching listening, supporting, subscribing, following us on social sharing, our stuff, commenting, engaging with the show.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: We wouldn't exist without you.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: All of your support.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the Patreon is so big for us.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's five bucks a month for you guys.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's really, it's like donating a cup of coffee a month to the show.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: But for us, it helps a ton every bit of support matters.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: And we just wanted to create a program where
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: were fans that the model for the show was and and still is for the fans by the fans.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: We're the fans.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: You're the fans.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: We're just trying to, you know, take that the
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: What fans are feeling, what you guys out there are saying, what you're thinking, feeling, complaining about what you want to see, and putting that in a format and using our platform to put that information and those feelings and thoughts and everything out there for the world to see for hopefully for the Browns to see.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Because we are not a mouthpiece for the organization.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: We are a mouthpiece for you guys.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: We're a mouthpiece for the fans.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're a mouthpiece for ourselves.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: So that's where, you know, we've, we've done like player interviews and things in the past and we've tried to get like official media credentials and things for the Browns, but those things are really hard to do when you don't toe the corporate line and we're not going to do that.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: So if it comes down to you guys can have media passes, but you need to, you know, stop saying this or that about the team or you need to be more positive about the ownership or the,
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: the front office well then you know keep your media passes we can just watch from from our couches it's not a big deal I would rather be truthful and honest about how I feel then ever have to sugarcoat anything or you know taper anything off just because of what?
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: you know, the team requires.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: So there will be none of that for the dog's podcast.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: I can promise you.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: So Sean, thank you for the voice, my friend, Thailand.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's pretty sweet.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, coming over there from the Toronto Browns backers, uh, that I just love the international scope of the Browns fan base number one.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's everywhere.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can't go anywhere in the world without running into Browns fans.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's so cool.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: And it's crazy that the fan base is so loyal.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: for such a terrible team, terrible organization.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: But hey, here we are doing the podcast fully committed to this thing, because we love the team.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: We love the Browns.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: We're so passionate about it, just because they suck and they make some terrible decisions.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a reason to stop supporting the team, like I will bleed brown in orange until the day I die, and that's not going to change.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then the last thing here I did, we got a message from Josh on the website.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: So again, if you don't want to leave a voice
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: at the Lee voice mail spot on the website.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: There's also a place where you can just type in a message.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to do that instead, send it to us.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: So this is from Josh on the website.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: He says, I've been a Browns fan my entire life.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen them in two playoff games.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's been three, but okay, two playoff games and suck the rest of the time.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: This team is absolutely awful.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: How do you let the jets of all teams beat you?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: And score back, two back, special teams touchdowns.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: If Jimmy thinks we are going to spend money to watch this dumpster fire in a new stadium, he has another thing coming.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Still love this team, but man, something has to change.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Love the show, been watching since 2020, keep up the work guys.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Josh.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate it.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: That wasn't that's not me, Josh.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: I promise I didn't write that.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's another Josh.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: But again, yeah, you guys can leave messages on the website.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think he speaks for a lot of us.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of Browns fans when he says that like, a team is just, they're hard to watch.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: And Blake said it on Sunday night after the Jets game we did a reaction show.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for a lot of people, not everybody, but for a lot of people, you work Monday through Friday, the weekends are your time to get things done around the house, to do anything that you weren't able to do during the week to spend time with your family, first and foremost, all that kind of stuff.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: And, you guys, you know, to the Browns, like you guys think we're going to just keep carving out four hours of our Sunday afternoon to watch what you guys are putting out there?
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, you're going to lose people.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to lose people.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying you're going to lose fans for good.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying you're going to lose fans for right now.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to tune into this season.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to tune in to these games.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people have said the only reason they're really watching is to see if should or Sanders gets his chance to play quarterback, which doesn't seem like it's going to happen at least any time soon.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Based on all the comments that have been made, it's, I don't know, it is frustrating, but, you know, again, that's why the dog pack has been so important to us because it's a place where we can go, we can commiserate, we can just just drop some, you know, explicit language in there and then talk about how we really feel about this team, everybody in there.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good time.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good time.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks, Josh.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Sean, you guys, I appreciate you guys sending us messages.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: I want to start before we get into negative stuff.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I want to talk about the positive.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go through the positive notes real quick because we do have some.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: It is bad as the the season has been in the Browns look overall.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: There are good things.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, Carson Swesinger 100% of snaps played on Sunday.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: This is just two weeks after suffering a high ankle spraying in that game
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, high ankle sprain, it varies.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: So there's different degrees of severity.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: You have your mild sprain.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: You've got your moderates, and then you've got your saviors, which I think if I'm not mistaken, the mild is maybe like one to two weeks missed, you can maybe play the next game, that kind of thing.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: Moderates gonna be like two to four games missed, and then your savior,
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: Could be anywhere from four to six, maybe an IR stint that kind of stuff and I believe Carson's was somewhere in that milder moderate.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a severe.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: I know that for sure Type of sprain, but still a high ankle sprain.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes like the bad ones you hear you hear people talk about It feels worse the pain is worse than if you broke your ankle So kind of to put that in perspective as far as the pain tolerance for these type of injuries
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: Just two weeks after Carson's questions, her sufferers his plays a 100% of snaps, like that's doesn't happen.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't happen.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: You might see a guy come in, maybe they play 50%, 65% of snaps, something in that range.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: But 100% of snaps, this guy is a monster, not only did he play 100% of the snaps, but he freaking produced like he has all year.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: One, or I'm sorry, 10 tackles.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: he had a half a sack and he had two tackles for loss on calcium.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, now this is I don't think the ad reads going to be in this episode, but we're kind of partnering with calcium to do some of these and that the platform's pretty cool.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: I've never used it before, so if you're familiar, you know more than I do, but I've kind of gotten into there here in the last week and it's interesting and I didn't had read for this last week, which now I got to change it up.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Carson Swesinger
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: before the jet's game was just a 17% chance to win the defensive rookie of the year.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was like fifth on the list of players that were being betted on or not.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I shouldn't say betted.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's the right term being predicted to win on Calshy's website.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: And now if you go look,
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one game.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's the betting favorite.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: He is now.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: He now has a 31% chance, almost his odds are most doubled after that game against the just because he just doesn't stop.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't ever let go.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't let anything down.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: He is a 100% go, every play.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's always at the football, making tackles in on the tackle, finding the ball.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: He is the Browns truly found a special player in Carson, Swiss and Dry.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is a, we talked early in the season like this could be a perennial pro baller.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, later in his career, that starts now.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think he will be a pro baller this year.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're looking at a future all pro linebacker.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: That is a very significant honor to win, and I think that is Carson Swesinger.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about Quenchon Judkins.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: He is still the leading rusher among rookie running backs with 561 yards this season.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: Hastin Gentie's right behind him at 547, but Quenchon Judkins has played one fewer game.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: then Ashton Gentie who will see here in a couple weeks.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's got 70.1 yards for game again.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's the most among rookies.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: He has a 4.0 yards per carry average.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: That is not the most.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually a way down the list among the rookie leaders, but to put him perspective.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: To have a four yard per carry average in this offense,
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: For an impressive man, we have a horrible run scheme.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: We have poor offensive line play.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Defenses, opposing defensive, just stacked the box because there's no threat from the quarterback or the receivers or the passing game or anything like that.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: So for Quint Shawn, Judkins, to still have the most rushing yards among rookies and to be averaging four yards of carry in this offense.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Whew.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: dude, get this kid a quarter back that can actually play the position, threaten defenses through the air, and give us some adequate offensive line play, and I think you're going to see Quenchon judge can do some special things in his career.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Harold Fan and Jr., that I got two other guys I want to highlight here, Harold Fan and Jr. of course, these first three have been rookies.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's the fifth most yards receiving yards among rookies with 396, just shy of 400 for the season.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: He leads the Browns in receiving yards, receptions, and he is second and overall targets.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's got two touchdowns which again, and this offense, that's like the equivalent of having 10 touchdowns in an actual NFL offense.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: just be or throw the ball and that means fun.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: You would think for a quarterback that would be, you know, kind of a requirement, but hey, we are the Browns.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: Hero Finn and Junior could be doing some incredible things.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: He is a dog and absolute dog.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: And the last guy.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a rookie, but he's also a new face.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: So all these guys are new faces of the team, Tyson Campbell, man.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: Originally, we kind of thought this was like somewhat of a lateral trade move, you know, Greg Newsom for Tyson Campbell.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: We did like a pick swap in there.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: It really wasn't that big of a, it wasn't perceived as that big of a change.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: However, Campbell has so far proven to be a very legitimate upgrade at Cornerback over Greg Newsom.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: in four games now with the Browns.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Tyson Campbell has been targeted 16 times.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's only allowed eight completions.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's for 50% success rate, 109 total yards, and that one touched down to DK Matt Caffin, his first game ever with the Browns.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: Quarterbacks currently have a 66.9% passer rating when throwing the ball at Tyson Campbell.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: He has one interception, which was a pick
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: the dude scored a touchdown on defense and he's got three pass break ups.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Now to compare with Greg Newsome.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Newsome played five games for the Browns and had 23 targets.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: He allowed 15 catches for 195 yards.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: No touchdowns allowed but he only had one pass break up in five games.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: Greg Newsome's opponent passer rating when he's targeted with the Browns.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: 91.8% compared to
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: very impressed with him so far through his first four games with the Browns.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by W3 Schools.

- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back in.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about unfortunately now.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: We got to go on the negative route and it kind of baffles me sometimes and people will make comments and stuff on social media or some of our episodes and yeah, wow you guys are so negative all you guys do talk about about the Browns
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Have you watched the team have you got experienced the Sunday phenomenon that is the 2025 and honestly 2024 Cleveland Browns Crap done which just never ceases to amaze at how badly this team can play at spots and how ridiculously they can lose games But anyway, we got to talk about it and it
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's really not I just went through the sunshine and rainbows side of things for the Browns and it's a couple individual players.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Overall as a team, there ain't no sunshine, there ain't no rainbows.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to start off talking about Kevin Stephanski yesterday in his press conference and
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: So we debate this all the time in the discord and everything that, you know, Kevin's press conferences are becoming an absolute joke.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I shouldn't say becoming they are an absolute joke.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's a waste of time.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't say anything and there's people that are frustrated with that.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: and then there's people like Blake is a strong advocate for like Kevin's press conferences are perfect.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: He thinks that he handles them just fine.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: He thinks they're stupid to have in the first place.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin shouldn't really even be up there talking to people, but he thinks the way Kevin answers questions is good because he doesn't throw anybody under the bus.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't give the media any sound bites and I push back on that the other day and so I'm
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: No matter what he says, there's going to be sound bites, people are going to take whatever he says.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to take certain things out of it.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: And if he's not going to be genuine with the fans and the media, then we're just going to speculate on what he says.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: No one's going to sit back and just say, well, he didn't really say anything this week.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: So let's just move on and not even think about it.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're a brownspin and you love this team and you're constantly reading and posting like I am about them, like you're going to pull things.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: from the comments whether they're bland and vague or they're direct and, you know, concise.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: So the one question yesterday for Kevin, and again, I think I think that the way he answers the questions would not be such a big deal.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: If something changed at some point in the last two years, every press conference he's given for the last two years has been the same thing.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: We need to be better.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: We need to coach better.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: We need to play better.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's more than just one person.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's the whole team.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: We need to get back to work.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get a fixed.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then every week comes and goes and the team still sucks.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: The team still makes mistakes.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: The team still fails.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: And nothing gets fixed.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: But he says the same thing every single week.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're like me, you're sick of it.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: I hate it.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: I've gotten to the point where when I see Kevin Stephanski at the podium, it makes me physically nauseous.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to hear the man's vote.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even listen to his press conference as I go read the transcripts.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: because I can't listen to him talking anymore, that's how far I have fallen off the Kevin bandwagon for sure.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: So let's see, there was a question, Darrell writer yesterday said Kevin, this one cracked me up.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: What progress have you seen from Dylan Gabriel?
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Start one to start five.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: What areas have you seen drastic improvement?
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this is an opportunity for your head coach to go ahead and highlight some things about your rookie quarterback that you insist upon shoving down our freaking throats.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: and tell us what you see from Dylan Gabriel that you take away as a positive head coach.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Tell us, because we don't see it, obviously.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's why Darrell's asking this question.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: We don't see it, we don't see the improvement, we don't see it the positive for Dylan Gabriel.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: So what are they in your perspective?
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: And here's how Kevin answered or rather did not answer that question.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: He says quote,
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think with young quarterbacks, Darrell, it's understanding that there's going to be ups and downs.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, can Dylan play better?
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he can.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: Can we play better around him?
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we can.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: Can we coach him better?
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we can't.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I understand the question, but I just trust that our young players at every position and certainly at the quarterback position are guys that are going to work their tails off to get better every single day.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: Did anybody here in that word salad, a bullshit?
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: One thing that he can point out that Dylan Gabriel has improved upon is doing well.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: No, I didn't see it either.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't hear it either.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's not there.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: He had nothing.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have an answer.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: If that's not the most, see this is where I'll fight with Blake on this.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so he didn't, this is a, this is a bland generic answer, right?
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: It speaks volumes.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is a sound bite.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: It speaks volumes that you can't point out one single thing.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: That you're rookie quarterback.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: That you hand picked.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: That you designated for first team reps and opportunities from day one, from day one of mini camp after he was drafted.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: All this time, five starts in the NFL.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Most starts ever in college football.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: You can't name one thing he does well, or one thing that he's improved upon.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: Over five starts, what a joke, Kevin.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Here a joke, joke.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: This just makes me really grinds my freaking gears.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so Dylan Gabriel, oh, actually no.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let me let me back up because I did wanna mention one thing from this,
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I wanted to find the quote about Shador Sanders because I think that's where we're all we're all kind of sitting on right now is okay.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen Don Gabriel for five starts clearly not an NFL quarterback.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just forget about it.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: We got another rookie on the team that we haven't seen yet.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: Toward as a first round prospect, the entire pre-draft process.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we got him in the fifth round.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Did we land a potential, you know, gem?
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: Lucky gem in the draft at the quarterback position, the thing that's alluded us for 30 years.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so they ask him Darrell again at the press conference said Jimmy has them said during training camp that you knew that seeing both young quarterbacks at some point the season was important.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: So where is Shador Sanders at as far as his development and do you have a timetable.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: of when you would take a look at him, so this is two Kevin, do you have a time table of when you would take a look at Shidorah Sanders?
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin says, quote, yeah, I don't think it's fair to speculate.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: We're committed to getting better as an offense, Dylan is certainly committed to improving every which way he can and all the while all of our players, young players are developing and working so hard behind the scenes to make sure that they're getting better on a daily basis.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get a little explosive here with you.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: I can't fucking listen to this guy talk anymore.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: This is why don't listen to his press conferences.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: Shador Sanders isn't going to play.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, unless like we said on Sunday, there is this plan for Shador to have the final four games of the season, and that is written in stone, is the only way it's going to happen.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: Is Andrew Barry and Jimmy has them saying, Kevin, we don't give a shit what you think or what you want to do, you will play Shador Sanders the final four games.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: That is the only way this is going to happen, or unless Dylan gets hurt during a game.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise,
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: Over Kevin's dead body, are you going to see Shidorah Sanders in the game?
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't want to, he doesn't want, I don't think he likes him, I don't think he wants anything to do with him, I don't think he's wants him on the team, I don't think he's happy that he's on the team.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think that everything we heard, we saw the post draft screenshot or whatever, whenever they flashed to the Browns war room after the Shidorah Sanders picked and everybody looked like somebody had died in the room.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then they came out afterwards when they were asked about and they said, oh, that just didn't time up, you know, correctly with the broadcast.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: A bullshit, bullshit, you mean every single other war room, timed up perfectly with the broadcast.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: You just happened to be the one that didn't.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: This is, this is so indicative of how they feel about Shouldorshan.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want it.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: Then I want to, that's what I believe.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: And when I say they, I'm talking about the coaching staff.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I, you know, we've heard that Shidorah was an Andrew Barry pick, and I do think there's some validity to that, especially after he traded Joe Flacco away just to get Shidorah Sanders to move up the dev chart because Kevin wasn't moving him up.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, guys, Kevin said, you know, Dylan's our starter, but Joe's the backup.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not moving Shidorah up the dev chart, Andrew Barry said, hold my fucking beer, dude.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you are.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you are.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting rid of Joe
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, to mess, to mess, I don't really know exactly what's going on, but again, if you're not going to tell us anything and you're going to do weird like things and all this stuff with the team and in the media and like we're all just going to speculate, we're just we're just going to fill in the voids ourselves.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, leave us two our own devices, we'll we'll we'll make up the narrative for you, I guess, um, but trying my best to do what at least I think is logical in this scenario and there's nothing logical.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: about it other than Kevin doesn't like should or so we are going to get the heaviest dose of Dylan Gabriel the rest of the season I will not spoil or alert for every preview game.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: I will not pick the browns to win any game this season as long as Dylan Gabriel's starting quarterback not even the titans at home not even that one because I think by that time I think our defense might just be checked out and done anyhow.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: But that's, that's what I want to talk about with the press conference stuff that he said.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: I will read one thing about another comment of Kevin's later, but that's what the special team's segment, but let's stick with Dylan Gabriel here for a little bit.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: In five starts, let's talk about how bad Dylan Gabriel has actually been.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: In five starts, Dylan Gabriel has only attempted eight passes total beyond 20 yards of the line of scrimmage.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: He only has two completions.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: Beyond 20 yards in five starts.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, one of them was that moon shot duck throw to Jerry Judy On Sunday that he somehow caught.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: Do you hear what I said Jerry do Jerry Judy Jerry duty caught?
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: a touchdown pass.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: I was that play.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys, if you didn't see it, the announcers continued the rest of the game to say, what a beautiful throw from Dylan Gabriel.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you saw the play whenever it happened live, I was watching him going, oh shit.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: The ball, I mean, it looked like he took all 200 soaking wet pounds of his body and threw that ball as hard as he could to the end zone and it barely got past the goal line.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was straight up in the air and that thing just wobbled its way down.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, who, man, I didn't know Corbahork was was punting right now.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Into the end zone, Jerry Judy had to adjust on the ball.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: The defender kind of tried to adjust to, slipped fell down, Judy somehow caught it.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: and it was a touchdown.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: It was ugly as shit.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: It was such a bad pass.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, who am I to complain about touchdowns?
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: They come so so infrequently.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: But let's look at the intermediate area of the field.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: The 10 to 19 yard range, and I harp on this all the time.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: As an NFL quarterback, you have got to be able to have success in the intermediate area of the field.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: Deep passing, it's always hit or miss.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's always hit or miss, because you were, as soon as you start throwing the ball past 20 yards, you're really taking some chances down the field.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: I get that.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: So that is not the end all be off for a quarterback.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you're throwing under 10 yards, short passes, those are usually quick passes, those should have a higher completion rate on those.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: And if you've thrown screens and stuff behind the line of scrimmage, you really should be close to 100% on those.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's not a whole lot of reason not to complete those passes, which is why I was so pissed when Dylan Gabriel just sailed the ball.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: way over Malikai Corley said, did you guys see that play?
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: Malikai Corley, they'd ran that little, I don't know if it was a trick screen play, Dylan Gabriel comes out to the left, turns throws a ball back over to the right side line where they had two blockers out in front of Malikai Corley, one defender who was blocked, and nothing but wide open green to the end zone.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: That would have been a Malikai Corley touchdown.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: and he throws at five yards over Corly's head.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: What a freaking joke.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: So this intermediate area of the field, that is where you have got to be good.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: You have got to have success there.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to be a successful quarterback like I said, deep passes, you're taking a risk.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: Every time you throw deep, you are taking a risk.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: You don't really know how it's gonna turn out.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: short passes you should be good at those they're easy those are the easy ones it's the intermediate that separate the good quarterbacks or should say the elite quarterbacks from the good quarterbacks from the and we're just going to be back ups or maybe out of league type of quarterbacks
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Gabriel in that range is 17 of 42, just 40.5% completion in the intermediate area of the field.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: And we were told another thing here, we were told that this kid was the perfect fit for Kevin Safanski's timing and rhythm offense, which I don't even think timing and rhythm offense is a real thing anymore.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just think those are bullshit words used to sugarcoat bullshit.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but either way, he is supposedly good at like play action, right?
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: That was a Kevin Sophia's golf end play action.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, blah, blah, blah, all this, blah, this stuff play action passes for Dylan Gabriel this season 19 of 33 just 57.6% what if we don't run play action?
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: The other option.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're not going to, if you, if you don't run play action, he's 83 of 141 for 58.9%.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: So it's about the same.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically the same result, whether it's play action or not.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: And that result, either way, is not good.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing, he's supposed to be this super processor we were told all about.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: He gets rid of the ball quick, he's on time on target, his time to throw when he when the defense is bringing pressure at him and you need to get rid of the ball quickly and have an answer 3.2, 3.2 seconds.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the highest.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: That is whenever you are definitely taking the chance that you're going to make a bad throw, get sacked, strip sacked, something.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: When the defense brings pressure, he is 31 to 61.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: in those situations that is 50.8 percent, not going to get it done.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about EPA, expected points added, his total EPA is negative 37.39.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: Where does that rank amongst all the NFL quarterbacks this season?
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: How about 61st?
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: 60.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: first, there are only 32 teams, guys, which means he is essentially one of the worst quarterbacks, not only of all the starters, but of all the backups in the league as well.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a negative 0.18 EPA per play that is 49th in the NFL.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: And according to Pro football reference, his bad throw rate is 19.4% his on target throw rate is 70.6% which is the fifth worst in the NFL this season.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Dylan gave her also experiences the third highest drop rate from his receivers at 6.5%.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, how much of that is due to guys being afraid to catch his fricking hospital balls?
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'm not excusing all the drops.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: Because certainly a lot of them have been bad.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: Jerry Judy, I'm looking at you, dude.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: But I do guarantee that the hospital ball possibility plays a factor in some of those drops for these players.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Gabriel only has 1,023 intended air yards over five starts, which is only 16 more air yards than Russell Wilson, who only started three games this season before being matched.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: And for the very, very, very few Dylan Gabriel defenders remaining out there.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, the only argument that I hear from Gabriel's supporters anymore is they go to the, hey, he only has two picks on the season.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't turn the ball over, he doesn't put the ball in harm's way.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: not true.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: That is false.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not even remotely close to the reality.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: Actually he puts the ball in harm's way way more than any other quarterback in the league.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I will break down those numbers right now to show you how.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I posted this on social media the other day.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Again, if you don't follow us on social media, I like to think I post a lot of good stuff over there.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: Good information and stats and things.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: We are at the dogs podcast everywhere.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: X, Instagram, Facebook,
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I said, you know, dealing Gabriel on the season 7 touchdowns, just two interceptions, but those numbers are misleading.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: And here's why.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: Now, this is per PFF.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: These are quarterbacks with the highest turnover worthy play rates in the NFL.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: So turnover worthy play rates, plays that could realistically or should result in a turnover.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's how PFF tracks this.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: So number one in the league, 5.4% Spencer Rattler, when he was playing for the Saints, 5.1% is number two.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's to a turn to ball over for the dolphins and a 4.6% rate for Dylan Gabriel.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: So he has the third highest turnover worthy play rate in the NFL.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: But if you look at some other numbers along with that,
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: like the total dropbacks for each quarterback and the big time throw rates that PFF also tracks.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: It becomes very clear that Dylan Gabriel is very much probably the worst quarterback in this area.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: So here are those stats and where each player ranks among 29 qualifying quarterbacks.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a month quarterbacks with at least 200 dropbacks this season.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: Spets are Rattler, 291 drawbacks.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's the 15th most, 17 turnover worthy plays.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: Again, the total return of a worthy plays is second.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: His 5.4 turnover worthy play rate is the first or the most in the league.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: He has 11 big time throws, which is tied for the 7th most in the league.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: And he has a 4% big time throw rate, which is tied for 14th highest in the league.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: Now we go to a 10 to ball lower.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: He has 309 dropbacks.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: That is the ninth most in the NFL.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: He has 18 total turnover worthy plays.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: That is the most.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: 5.1 turnover worthy play rate.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: That is the second most.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: 15 big time throws.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: That is tied for the fourth most in the NFL and a 4.8 big time throw rate.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: That is the ninth highest.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: So what are those numbers mean Josh?
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: You just threw
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: Turn the ball over, tongue of Iola.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: These guys had the first and second highest turn over worthy play rates, but they also coupled that with big time throws and higher big time throw rates.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: Two of us got the ninth highest big time throw rate.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: And Rattler has the 14th highest meaning.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they're committing turnover worthy plays, but they are also accomplishing big time throws down the field.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: So they're pushing them all down the field.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it results in a bad throw on a turnover, but sometimes a result in a big play.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: That is kind of the trade off you get with some of these quarterbacks.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: But this is where Dylan Gabriel is the odd duck out of this whole thing.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, see what I did there, Oregon ducks.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Gabriel, 203 drop back.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: So two has got three, 29.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan has just 203.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: That is the 29th most in the NFL.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: He has 10 turnover worthy plays, which is tied for seventh most.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: And a 4.6 turnover worthy play rate, like I said, that's third highest.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: How does he fare in the big time throws?
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you guys got to be, what do you think?
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: Just before I give you guys the numbers, just say it yourself.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, Rattler had 11 big time throws, two has got 15, how many things Dylan's got?
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: Here we go, one, two, he's got three.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: He has three big time throws.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: That is the 29th most in the NFL.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: And a 1.6% big time throw rate, that is 29th in the NFL.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: He is committing more turnover worthy plays without any big time throws to go with them.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: He is absolutely terrible.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely terrible.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_01]: Why are the Browns continue to insist upon starting this kid?
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: and I don't hate doing Gabriel.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: I want to make that clear.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think any of us do.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: I like him.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a good kid.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's probably a nice guy.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: He was a hell of a college quarterback.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he understands a game of football and I think he's a very good player.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's a good NFL quarterback at all.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: At all.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: That is nothing again.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing against the person.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: is everything against the player in the NFL for my team.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need him.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: Don't want him.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen enough.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by Botan Sports.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: Browns fans, I know Thanksgiving is the next thing on the list, but if you're in my house, we have had Christmas decorated all over the place.

- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then the gifts that I really like to give family members and people like that would be the backyard games.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: Get those for Christmas gifts because then they can hold onto those and break them out when the weather gets nice and it's like that Christmas gift.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: that didn't get used right away, Christmas, and they get to experience that joy again later in the year.

- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, for his spectacular performance against the Jets on Sunday, he has been nominated for the NFL's rookie of the week award, which I guess that award has no validity anymore.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not kidding.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: He really has been nominated on how that happens, but whatever, I want to shift gears here, and I want to talk about the special teams.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: So obviously, the special teams were the difference in the game on Sunday, the defense,
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: played very well.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: Defense played great.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they gave up some big plays, some big runs, and a massive screen pass for a touchdown to pre-soul.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: We've been struggling, it's running back a lot lately, which is why I'm very worried about Derek Henry next week.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: But overall, the defense played great.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: When you hold an opponent or an opposing quarterback to 50 yards passing in a game, and you watch six completions, just six completions in the entire game, be, before the screen pass, he was five for 12.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: Think about that.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: Before the fourth quarter, before that big screen play, Justin feels the opposing quarterback had five completions for 12 yards and a pick against our defense.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: You there are frustrated.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: We are about our quarterback.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine being a Jets fan.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the output you're getting from your team.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: 12 yards in most of the game.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's pathetic.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: No wonder they want to bench fields.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: But like I said, the difference in the game was the special teams we gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown followed up by a punt return for a touchdown and it was 14 to seven before we knew what hit us.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: in that game.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: And Kevin was also, or obviously asked about this in his press conference yesterday.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now again, here we go.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: The question, Kevin, I'm going to ask you about those return touchdowns.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: How do you stay confident in Boba Ventron when it has been a problem all year?
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I'm gonna talk about here in this segment, how it's been a problem, all fucking year with the special teams.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: And here's what Kevin said.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: quote, yeah, listen, I have a ton of faith in Bubba.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: I have a ton of faith in our special teams.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: We have to be better.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's the case.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: There are ways that we can try to be better.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: We'll continue to coach our guys heart.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: We'll continue to give them the techniques to use.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: But I trust our guys.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: I trust that we'll get back to work.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck you Kevin.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm tired of listening to this shit.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm done.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: Done with this.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: Done with this whole regime.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about it.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about how just bad have these special teams been.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: I got to find my poster again.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: This was another another stat dive I did for social media this morning.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to talk about it here with you guys.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: So this is these are the stats and where we rank so far this season.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: When we kick off to an opponent,
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: which we don't do very often because we don't score very often.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: So usually you only kick off to your opponent once a game for sure, which is either at the beginning of the game or the beginning of the second half.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: After that, you're not kicking off unless you score.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: So we have 35 kickoffs so far this season.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's the last 30 second in the NFL.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's the fewest.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: We allow on average 28 yards per return when we kick off to an opponent.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's the third most.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's the third highest average yards allowed per return in the NFL.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: 28 yards.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: So that means wherever they're catching the ball, remember we have this new landing zone and stuff.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: So if we kick the ball and they catch it at the five, they're on average getting the ball at the 33th.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: They catch it at the, you know, the seven, they're getting it at the 35th.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: So we give excellent field position on kickoffs.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: And we have allowed one touchdown again.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: That was Sunday to the jets.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: Only three teams in the NFL.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: This season have allowed a touchdown on a
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: So how do we do when we punt to the opponent?
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, puns.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys don't watch that dude on TikTok, you gotta go watch it, man.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're the Cleveland Browns.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we are, and, hmm, hmm, puns.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: When we punt to opponents, we have 49 puns.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: Again, this is because our offense sucks.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: We don't score us, why we don't have many kick-offs, but we have the second most, hmm, hmm, puns in the NFL at 49, 2,253 punt yards,
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: Again, second most in the NFL, 1,793 net punt yards.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's yards after we allow the return.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's still the second most.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now here's where it gets ugly for the punt team.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_01]: Because of those numbers right there are an indictment of the offense.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: But now let's talk about the punt team itself.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: 46 yards average.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's how that's what we average per punt.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: That is 25th in the league.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: The super leg that is core behorcas is not happening this year, guys.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's not happening this year.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: The pun team in general, we're not downing puns where we need to be 46 yards on average.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_01]: That is 25th in the league.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what really sucks.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: This is the one that matters, like the average punt yardage, that's great, but what really matters for your team on the field is the net average.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: So that is, what is the average punt, the average yardage on a punt after the return, because there's two components to a punt.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: You got to kick the ball and then they're gonna return it.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: So if you kick it 50 yards and they return it 10, that's a net of 40.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's what matters, the 50 doesn't mean shit, it's the 40 that matters in the game.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: Our average net yardage on punt return, 36.6.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: That is 30 second in the NFL.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning when we punt the ball, we put the least amount of distance between where we had the ball and where the opponent takes over in the entire league.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: We're the worst at creating distance and flipping field this year in the NFL.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: We have allowed 22 returns.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: That is the second most again.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: We punt at the second most.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: We have allowed 320 return yards.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: That is the most return yards.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: And we have allowed two touchdowns on punts.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: The only team the NFL to allow two touchdowns on punts returns this year is the Cleveland Browns.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Your average yards allowed per return.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: is 14.5 yards that is the most in the NFL.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, Bubba Ventrons, Punt team is allowing the most yards per Punt return in the NFL this season.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: They are the worst.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: So when people say, oh, we have one of the worst special teams units or where do they actually rank?
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: They suck.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: They are the worst.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: These are the stats that matter.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Punt returns, like, where are you positioning the opponent?
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: Especially when your offense can't do anything but go three and out most of the freaking game.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Where are you putting the opponent in that?
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're just giving it right back.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: You just let them come get great feel position.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: Every damn time it seems like.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: What about when we return kick?
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: So our kickoff returns.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: We've had 38 kick returns.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: That is 14th in the NFL.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: 901 yards, 20th.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: Here's with the numbers that matter, we average 23.1 yards per return, 30th in the NFL.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: We are a bottom three special teams unit when it comes to average kickoff return yards.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: When our opponents return kicks, we allow the third most yards per it.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: So we are completely opposite ends of the spectrum.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: We allow the third highest and we actually gain the third fewest ourselves.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: And we have zero touchdowns.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, because we haven't returned to kicks since like 2001 or something like that.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: And our longest kickoff return this season is 34 yards.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: That is 31st in the NFL.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: Only one team.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna believe it was the Rams.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: Have a shorter, long yard kickoff.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that made sense.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: Our longest kickoff return was 34 yards only.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: One team, it's the Rams, have one that is shorter than that.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's it for us.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: And how about our team on punt returns?
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: We've returned 15 puns, 16th in the NFL, 125 total.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: punt return yards is 20th, okay.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: The reason those numbers I don't really care that much about is because that all depends on, you know, offenses being able to keep the ball and defense being able to stop and all that kind of stuff.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: The numbers that matter, we average 8.3 yards per return.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: That is 23rd in the NFL.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you remember,
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: on punts that we kick to the opponent, we allow them on average to get 14.5 yards.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's the most in the NFL we average 8.3 yards per return.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's 23.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: 16 yards is our longest punt return in the season and that is 31st in the NFL.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: We've got zero touchdowns scored, of course, because we don't do that and we have fumbled one punt.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_01]: So all that suffice to say, it's pretty much all bad on Bubba Ventron.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: Special teams, the one and only positive this season really was the blocked go-head field goal attempt against the Packers.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: You guys remember that set us up to go down and get in range for our own game winning kick, which we did, and we executed successfully, and we won that game.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: That was a great special teams play, and all that kind of stuff.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: I ain't hanging my hat on one play, guys.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: This special team's unit is the worst in the NFL.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's been bad.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_01]: I should go back and see what these numbers were last year, because I know I know a special team's from bad last year.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: Special teams have honestly been bad every year under Kevin Stephanski.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: We bitched and moaned about my prefer for the first three seasons under Kevin and now we're bitching moaning about above and thrown for these last three seasons.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_01]: So it's their Jake Bern said it best on the podcast a couple of weeks ago, you know, you can fire another offensive coordinator at the end of this year.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: That'd be two straight OCs fired.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: You've already fired a defensive coordinator.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: You've already fired a special teams coordinator and you need to fire another one.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: At some point, the comm is denominator is one thing, and it's Kevin Stephansky, and there's a lot of people I hear that still want to defend Kevin and they'll say, well, you know, both of the drone runs the special teams, that's not Kevin, he does the offense.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin's the head coach.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: Everything on the team is falls under his jurisdiction.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I don't care if his, he's mainly focused on the offense.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's the head coach.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's held accountable for everything the team does.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: I swear this guy's the only head coach in the NFL who can't receive blame for what his team sucks.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: Daniel Orlowski the other day said that the New York Giants should hire Kevin's defense next year if we fire him.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_01]: Why, based on what, if you guys didn't see the news, they just fired Brian Dabel the other day.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: Brian Dabel's record over the last two seasons with the giants is 5 and 24, or no, I'm sorry, 5 and 22, 5 and 22, and he just got fired.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know what Kevin's to fanski's record is over the last two years?
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: 5 and 21, so damn same, they only difference as we've had a by week this year.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: We played one fewer game, which we would've lost anyhow.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's the same record as Brian Dabel.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: the hell you want this guy for what is he done on offense what is he shown you what would be one thing name one thing that happens to fancy does well put it in the comments i need to see it because i don't know what it is i don't know what it is
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you guys tuning in.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_01]: Again, on Veterans Day Tuesday, happy Veterans Day to all you brave men and women out there.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_01]: Again, just can not tell you enough how much.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you guys how much, you know, Blake, Justin, everybody on the show.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate you guys so much.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: I speak for everybody when I say that.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I just think back to Sean's voice mail about, you know, the podcast and, you know, appreciating, you know, the perspective we give and everything like that.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: And the ability, the freedom that we had to create this podcast in the first place, the freedom that I have,
- 53:54[SPEAKER_01]: to continue growing it and pouring into it and working on it and making it better as better as I can.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: Each and every time I do this, those freedoms, those opportunities, I wouldn't have those if you weren't for you guys for the military people out there.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not lost to me ever.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_01]: I, I appreciate you.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what I'll say.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you guys more than you know.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks again everybody tuning in.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: We will be doing, I will be doing dog pack discord live.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: Can you make usually co-host that with me?
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: In the discord live Thursdays at five, this week will be previewing the Ravens.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: I predict to be beat down and Cleveland on Sunday, but if you want to get in there and be part of that show, even if you just want to tune in live while we do it and see what it's all about, head to join the dogs.com, become an official dog.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: I remember on the Patreon page, and even if you're not interested in the discord and all that other stuff, the Patreon is still a great place if you just want to help us out a little bit, donate five months, five months, five bucks a month to the show just to help us out a little bit financially.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 54:57[SPEAKER_01]: We don't, we don't typically like ask for money, but if you, if you're willing, if you feel the compelled to help support us financially, we won't turn it down, we support or I mean, we appreciate your support because it does help us honestly continue to grow like all the equipment, all the software, the programming, everything that we're able to use my time put into the show like all of that.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't be possible without the financial support from our dog pack members and everybody else out there.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you guys again.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: We do appreciate you.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see you guys Thursday live in the discord.
