- 0:00Speaker 1: A lot of familiar faces in the room, a lot
- 0:01Speaker 1: of new faces, and President Trump is back, and the
- 0:05Speaker 1: Golden Age of America has most definitely begun. The Senate
- 0:10Speaker 1: has already confirmed five of President Trump's exceptional cabinet nominees,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA
- 0:19Speaker 1: Director John Ratcliffe, Homeland Security Secretary Christy Nome, and Treasury
- 0:24Speaker 1: Secretary Scott Bessant. It is imperative that the Senate continues
- 0:28Speaker 1: to confirm the remainder of the President's well qualified nominees as.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Quickly as possible.
- 0:34Speaker 1: As you have seen during the past week, President Trump
- 0:36Speaker 1: is hard at work fulfilling the promises that he made
- 0:39Speaker 1: to the American people on the campaign trail. Since taking
- 0:43Speaker 1: the oath of office, President Trump has taken more than
- 0:46Speaker 1: three hundred executive actions, secured nearly one trillion dollars in
- 0:52Speaker 1: US investments, deported illegal alien rapists, gang members, and suspected
- 0:57Speaker 1: terrorists from our homeland, and restored common sense to the
- 1:01Speaker 1: federal government. I want to take a moment to go
- 1:03Speaker 1: through some of these extraordinary actions. On day one, President
- 1:08Speaker 1: Trump declared a national emergency at our southern border, to
- 1:12Speaker 1: end the four year long invasion of illegal aliens.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Under the previous administration.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Additionally, President Trump signed an executive order to end catch
- 1:21Speaker 1: and release and finished construction of his.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Effective border wall.
- 1:26Speaker 1: By using every lever of his federal power, President Trump
- 1:30Speaker 1: has sent a loud and clear message to the entire world.
- 1:35Speaker 1: America will no longer tolerate illegal immigration, and this president
- 1:40Speaker 1: expects that every nation on this planet will cooperate with
- 1:44Speaker 1: the repatriation of their citizens, as proven by this weekend,
- 1:49Speaker 1: when President Trump swiftly directed his team to issue harsh
- 1:53Speaker 1: and effective sanctions in tariffs on the Colombian government upon
- 1:57Speaker 1: hearing they were denied a US military aircraft full of
- 2:00Speaker 1: their own citizens who were deported by this administration. Within hours,
- 2:05Speaker 1: the Colombian government agreed to all of President Trump's demands,
- 2:09Speaker 1: proving America is once again respected on the world stage.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So to foreign nationals who are thinking about trying to
- 2:17Speaker 1: illegally enter the United States, think again. Under this president,
- 2:22Speaker 1: you will be detained and you will be deported. Every day,
- 2:26Speaker 1: Americans are safer because of the violent criminals that President
- 2:30Speaker 1: Trump's administration is removing from our communities. On January twenty third,
- 2:37Speaker 1: ice New York arrested a Turkish national for entry without
- 2:40Speaker 1: inspection who is a known or suspected terrorist. On January
- 2:45Speaker 1: twenty third, Ice San Francisco arrested a citizen of Mexico
- 2:49Speaker 1: unlawfully present in the United States who has been convicted
- 2:53Speaker 1: of continuous sexual abuse of a child aged fourteen years
- 2:58Speaker 1: or younger. ICE Saint Paul has arrested a citizen of
- 3:02Speaker 1: Hernduras who was convicted of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct
- 3:06Speaker 1: with a minor. ICE Buffalo arrested a citizen of Ecuador
- 3:10Speaker 1: who has been convicted of rape. ICE Boston arrested a
- 3:15Speaker 1: citizen of the Dominican Republic who has a criminal conviction
- 3:18Speaker 1: for second degree murder.
- 3:20Speaker 2: This criminal was.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Convicted of murder for beating his pregnant wife to death
- 3:25Speaker 1: in front of her five year old son. And ICE
- 3:28Speaker 1: Saint Paul also arrested a citizen of Mexico who was
- 3:31Speaker 1: convicted of possessing pornographic material of a miner on a
- 3:35Speaker 1: work computer. These are the heinous individuals that this administration
- 3:40Speaker 1: is removing from American communities every single day. Into the
- 3:43Speaker 1: brave state and local law enforcement officer CBP and ICE
- 3:47Speaker 1: agents who are helping in the facilitation of this deportation operation.
- 3:51Speaker 1: President Trump has your back and he is grateful for
- 3:55Speaker 1: your hard work. On the economic front, President Trump took
- 3:59Speaker 1: a immediate action to lower costs for families who are
- 4:02Speaker 1: suffering from four long years of the Biden administration's destructive
- 4:07Speaker 1: and inflationary policies. President Trump ordered the heads of all
- 4:12Speaker 1: executive departments and agencies to help deliver emergency price relief
- 4:16Speaker 1: to the American people, untangle our economy from Biden's regulatory constraints,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and end the reckless war on American energy. President Trump
- 4:26Speaker 1: also signed sweeping executive orders to end the weaponization of
- 4:30Speaker 1: government and restore common sense to the federal bureaucracy. He
- 4:35Speaker 1: directed all federal agencies to terminate illegal diversity, equity and
- 4:40Speaker 1: inclusion programs to help return America to a.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Merit based society.
- 4:45Speaker 1: President Trump also signed in executive order declaring it is
- 4:49Speaker 1: now the policy of the federal government that there are
- 4:51Speaker 1: only two sexes, male and female. Sanity has been restored.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Before I take your questions, I would like to point
- 4:59Speaker 1: out to all of you once and again have access
- 5:02Speaker 1: to the most transparent, inaccessible president in American history. There
- 5:08Speaker 1: has never been a president who communicates with the American
- 5:10Speaker 1: people and the American press corps as openly and authentically
- 5:16Speaker 1: as the forty fifth and now forty seventh president of
- 5:19Speaker 1: the United States. This past week, President Trump has held
- 5:23Speaker 1: multiple news conferences, gaggled on Air Force One multiple times,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and sat down for a two part interview on Fox
- 5:30Speaker 1: News which aired last week. As Politico summed it up best,
- 5:34Speaker 1: Trump is everywhere again, and that's because President Trump has
- 5:39Speaker 1: a great story to tell about the legendary American revival
- 5:43Speaker 1: that is well underway. And in keeping with this revolutionary
- 5:48Speaker 1: media approach that President Trump deployed during the campaign, the
- 5:52Speaker 1: Trump White House will speak to all media outlets and personalities,
- 5:57Speaker 1: not just the legacy media who are seated in this room. Because,
- 6:01Speaker 1: according to recent pulling from Gallop, Americans trust in mass media.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Has fallen to a record low.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Millions of Americans, especially young people, have turned from traditional
- 6:12Speaker 1: television outlets and newspapers to consume their news from podcasts, blogs,
- 6:17Speaker 1: social media, and other independent outlets. It's essential to our
- 6:23Speaker 1: team that we share President Trump's message everywhere and adapt
- 6:26Speaker 1: this White House.
- 6:27Speaker 2: To the new media landscape. In twenty twenty five.
- 6:30Speaker 1: To do this, i am excited to announce the following
- 6:33Speaker 1: changes will be made to this historic James S.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Brady Briefing Room, where mister Brady's legacy will endure.
- 6:40Speaker 1: This White House believes strongly in the First Amendment, so
- 6:43Speaker 1: it's why our team will work diligently to restore the
- 6:46Speaker 1: press passes of the four hundred and forty journalists whose
- 6:49Speaker 1: passes were wrongly revoked by the previous administration. We're also
- 6:54Speaker 1: opening up this briefing room to new media voices who
- 6:57Speaker 1: produced news related content and whose outlets is not already
- 7:01Speaker 1: represented by one of the seats in this room. We
- 7:04Speaker 1: welcome independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators
- 7:10Speaker 1: to apply for credentials to cover this White House, and
- 7:14Speaker 1: you can apply now on our new website white House
- 7:17Speaker 1: dot gov slash new Media. Starting today, this seat in
- 7:23Speaker 1: the front of the room, which is usually occupied by
- 7:26Speaker 1: the Press Secretary's.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Staff, will be called the new Media Seat.
- 7:30Speaker 1: My team will review the applications and give credentials to
- 7:33Speaker 1: new media applicants who meet our criteria in past United
- 7:36Speaker 1: States Secret Service requirements to enter the White House complex. So,
- 7:42Speaker 1: in light of these announcements, our first questions for today's
- 7:44Speaker 1: briefing will go to these new media members whose outlets,
- 7:48Speaker 1: despite being some of the most viewed news websites in the.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Country, have not been given seats in this room.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And before I turn to questions, I do have news
- 7:57Speaker 1: directly from the President of the United States that was
- 8:00Speaker 1: just shared with me in the Oval Office from President
- 8:04Speaker 1: Trump directly an update on the New Jersey drones. After
- 8:07Speaker 1: research and study, the drones that were flying over New
- 8:11Speaker 1: Jersey and large numbers were authorized to be flown by
- 8:14Speaker 1: the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of
- 8:19Speaker 1: these drones were also hobbyists, recreational and private individuals that
- 8:24Speaker 1: enjoy flying jones in meantime, in time.
- 8:28Speaker 2: It got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy.
- 8:32Speaker 1: A statement from the President of the United States to
- 8:35Speaker 1: start this briefing with some news, and with that, I
- 8:38Speaker 1: will turn it over to questions, and we will begin
- 8:40Speaker 1: with our new media members. Mike Allen from Axios, Matt
- 8:43Speaker 1: Boyle from Breitbart, Mike, why don't you go ahead?
- 8:46Speaker 3: Thank you very much, Caroline. Does the President see anything
- 8:49Speaker 3: fishy about a deep seat, either its origins or its cost,
- 8:54Speaker 3: and could try his ability to make these models quick
- 8:57Speaker 3: or cheaper affect our thinking about expanding generation data centers,
- 9:02Speaker 3: chip manufactor sure.
- 9:04Speaker 1: The President was asked about Deep Seak last night on
- 9:06Speaker 1: Air Force One when he gaggled for I think the
- 9:08Speaker 1: third or fourth time throughout the weekend with members of
- 9:11Speaker 1: the traveling Press Corps. The President said that he believes
- 9:15Speaker 1: that this is a wake up call to the American
- 9:17Speaker 1: AI industry. The last administration sat on their hands and
- 9:22Speaker 1: allowed China to rapidly develop this AI program. And so
- 9:26Speaker 1: President Trump believes in restoring American AI dominance and that's
- 9:30Speaker 1: why he took very strong executive action this past week
- 9:33Speaker 1: to sign executive orders to roll back some of the
- 9:36Speaker 1: honors regulations on the AI industry. And President Trump is
- 9:40Speaker 1: also proudly appointed the first AI in Crypto Zar at
- 9:43Speaker 1: this White House, David Sachs, whom I spoke with yesterday,
- 9:46Speaker 1: very knowledgeable on this subject and his team is here
- 9:49Speaker 1: working every single day to ensure American AI dominance. As
- 9:53Speaker 1: for the national security implications, I spoke with NSC this morning.
- 9:57Speaker 1: They are looking into what those may be, and when
- 9:59Speaker 1: I have an update, I will share it with you.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Mike, Carol, you say restore US dominance is there a
- 10:04Speaker 3: fear that the US either has fallen or has fallen behind,
- 10:07Speaker 3: and how would the President.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Make sure of the US.
- 10:10Speaker 1: To a second, now, the President is confident that we
- 10:13Speaker 1: will restore American dominance in AI.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Now, So Caroline, first off, thank you to you and
- 10:17Speaker 4: President Trump for actually giving voices to newity outlets that
- 10:22Speaker 4: represent millions and millions of Americans. The thing I would add,
- 10:26Speaker 4: I've got a two part question for you.
- 10:27Speaker 5: The first is is just can you expand upon what
- 10:30Speaker 5: steps the White House is going to take to bring
- 10:33Speaker 5: more voices, not less, which is what our founder, Andrew
- 10:36Speaker 5: bride Park believed in into this room where they rightly belong.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Absolutely, And as I said in my opening statement, Matt,
- 10:44Speaker 1: it is a priority of this White House to honor
- 10:46Speaker 1: the First Amendment. And it is a fact that Americans
- 10:49Speaker 1: are consuming their news media from various different platforms, especially
- 10:53Speaker 1: young people. And as the youngest Press secretary in history,
- 10:56Speaker 1: thanks to President Trump, I take great pride in opening
- 10:59Speaker 1: up this room to new media voices to share the
- 11:02Speaker 1: President's message with as many Americans as possible.
- 11:05Speaker 2: In doing so, Number one.
- 11:07Speaker 1: We will ensure that outlets like Yours, Axios and Breitbart,
- 11:10Speaker 1: which are widely respected and viewed outlets.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Have an actual seat in this room every day.
- 11:16Speaker 1: We also again encourage anybody in this country, whether you
- 11:20Speaker 1: are a TikTok content creator, a.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Blogger, a podcaster, if you are.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Producing legitimate news content, no matter the medium, you will
- 11:29Speaker 1: be allowed to apply for press credentials to this White House.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And as I said earlier, our new media website is
- 11:38Speaker 1: white House dot gov slash new Media, and so we
- 11:41Speaker 1: encourage people to apply again. As long as you are
- 11:44Speaker 1: creating news related content of the day, and you're an
- 11:48Speaker 1: legitimate independent journalist, you're welcome to cover this White House.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Secondly, Caroline, you said you laid out several of the
- 11:53Speaker 4: actions of President Trump.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Has taken at Obviously it's start contract with the previous
- 11:58Speaker 5: administration or break back speed from President Trump.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Can we expect that pace to continue.
- 12:03Speaker 5: As the hunt in the first hundred days moves along
- 12:06Speaker 5: here and beyond that.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Absolutely, there's no doubt President Trump has always been the
- 12:10Speaker 1: hardest working man in politics.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I think that's been proven over the past week.
- 12:14Speaker 1: This president has again signed more than three hundred executive orders.
- 12:18Speaker 2: He's taken historic action.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I gaggle the board Air Force one to mark the
- 12:22Speaker 1: first one hundred days of this administration four pm last Friday,
- 12:26Speaker 1: our first hundred hours, rather, and this president did more
- 12:29Speaker 1: in the first hundred hours than the previous president did
- 12:32Speaker 1: in the first one hundred days. So, President Trump, I
- 12:35Speaker 1: think you can all expect for him to continue to
- 12:38Speaker 1: work at this breakneck speed. So I hope you're all
- 12:40Speaker 1: ready to work very hard. I know that we are.
- 12:42Speaker 6: Sek Mailer, Thanks Caroline, A question that we've asked your
- 12:45Speaker 6: predecessors of both parties in this job.
- 12:47Speaker 7: When you're up here.
- 12:48Speaker 6: In this briefing room speaking to the American public, you
- 12:50Speaker 6: view yourself and your role as speaking on advocating on
- 12:55Speaker 6: behalf of the president, or providing the unfurnished truth, that is,
- 12:58Speaker 6: you know, not to lie, not to obfuscate to the
- 13:00Speaker 6: America faith.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I commit to telling the truth from this podium every
- 13:04Speaker 1: single day. I commit to speaking on behalf of the
- 13:06Speaker 1: president of the United States.
- 13:08Speaker 2: That is my job.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And I will say it's very easy to speak truth
- 13:11Speaker 1: from this podium when you have a president who is
- 13:13Speaker 1: implementing policies that are wildly popular with the American people.
- 13:18Speaker 1: And that's exactly what this administration is doing. It's correcting
- 13:21Speaker 1: the lies and the wrongs of the past four years,
- 13:24Speaker 1: many of the lies that have been told to your
- 13:26Speaker 1: faces in this very briefing room.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I will not do that. But since you brought up
- 13:30Speaker 2: truth seek, I would like to point.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Out, while I vow to provide the truth from this podium,
- 13:36Speaker 1: we ask that all of you in this room hold
- 13:37Speaker 1: yourselves to that same standard.
- 13:39Speaker 2: We know for a fact there have.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Been lies that have been pushed by many legacy media
- 13:44Speaker 1: outlets in this country about this president, about his family,
- 13:48Speaker 1: and we will.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Not accept that.
- 13:50Speaker 1: We will call you out when we feel that your
- 13:52Speaker 1: reporting is wrong or there is misinformation about this White House.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So yes, I will hold myself to the truth, and
- 13:59Speaker 1: I expect everyone in the room to do the same.
- 14:00Speaker 6: And Karrolyn just on a substantive question yesterday of the
- 14:03Speaker 6: White HOSS Office and Management and Budget directed across the
- 14:06Speaker 6: board phreeze with the subceptions for individual assistance, we understand
- 14:12Speaker 6: the federal grants. It's caused a lot of confusion around
- 14:14Speaker 6: the country head Start providers among services to homeless veterans,
- 14:21Speaker 6: Medicaid provider states saying they're having trouble accessing the portal.
- 14:25Speaker 6: Could you help us clear up some of the confusion.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Give some certainty to folks. Then, also, is that uncertainty.
- 14:30Speaker 6: How does that uncertainty service the president's voters.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Well, I think there's only uncertainty in this room. Amongst
- 14:36Speaker 1: the media, there's no uncertainty in this building. So let
- 14:38Speaker 1: me provide the certainty and the clarity that all of
- 14:40Speaker 1: you need.
- 14:41Speaker 2: This is not a.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Blanket pause on federal assistance in grant programs from the
- 14:46Speaker 1: Trump administration. Individual assistance that includes I'm not naming everything
- 14:52Speaker 1: that's included, but just to give you a few examples,
- 14:54Speaker 1: Social Security benefits, Medicare benefits, food Stamps, welfare benefits. Assistance
- 15:01Speaker 1: that is going directly to individuals will not be impacted.
- 15:05Speaker 2: By this pause.
- 15:06Speaker 1: And I want to make that very clear to any
- 15:08Speaker 1: Americans who are watching at home who may be a
- 15:10Speaker 1: little bit confused about some of the media reporting this administration.
- 15:13Speaker 1: If you are receiving individual assistance from the federal government.
- 15:16Speaker 2: You will still continue to receive that.
- 15:18Speaker 1: However, it is the responsibility of this president and this
- 15:22Speaker 1: administration to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars. That is
- 15:26Speaker 1: something that President Trump campaigned on. That's why he has
- 15:29Speaker 1: launched Doge the Department of Government Efficiency, who is working
- 15:33Speaker 1: alongside OMB. And that's why OMB sent out this memo
- 15:36Speaker 1: last night, because the President signed an executive order directing
- 15:40Speaker 1: OMB to.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Do just this.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And the reason for this is to ensure that every
- 15:44Speaker 1: penny that is going out the door is not conflicting
- 15:48Speaker 1: with the executive orders and actions that this president has taken.
- 15:51Speaker 1: So what does this pause mean. It means no more
- 15:53Speaker 1: funding for illegal DEI programs. It means no more funding
- 15:57Speaker 1: for the Green New scam that has cost to Ameria
- 16:00Speaker 1: and taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. It means no
- 16:03Speaker 1: more funding for transgenderism and wokeness across our federal bureaucracy
- 16:08Speaker 1: and agencies. No more funding for Green New Deal social
- 16:11Speaker 1: engineering policies.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Again, people who are receiving individual assistance assistants, you will
- 16:17Speaker 2: continue to receive that.
- 16:18Speaker 1: And President Trump is looking out for you by issuing
- 16:20Speaker 1: this pause because he is being good steward of your
- 16:23Speaker 1: taxpayer dollars.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Thanks Caroline. Sure, how long is this pause going to last?
- 16:29Speaker 8: And how is the Trump administration recommending that organizations that
- 16:33Speaker 8: rely on federal funding make payroll pay their rent In
- 16:37Speaker 8: the meantime?
- 16:38Speaker 1: It is a temporary pause in the Office of Management
- 16:40Speaker 1: and Budget is reviewing the federal funding that has been
- 16:44Speaker 1: going out the door. Again, not for individual assistants, but
- 16:46Speaker 1: for all of these other programs that I mentioned. I
- 16:49Speaker 1: also spoke with the incoming Director of OMB this morning
- 16:53Speaker 1: and he told me to tell all of you that
- 16:55Speaker 1: the line to his office is open for other federal
- 16:58Speaker 1: government agencies across the board, and if they feel that
- 17:01Speaker 1: programs are necessary and in line with the President's agenda,
- 17:06Speaker 1: then the Office of Management and Budget will review those policies.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Think this is a very responsible measure. Again, the past
- 17:11Speaker 1: four years, we've seen the Biden administration spend money like
- 17:14Speaker 1: drunken sailors. It's a big reason we've had an inflation
- 17:17Speaker 1: crisis in this country. And it's incumbent upon this administration
- 17:20Speaker 1: to make sure again that every penny is being accounted for.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Honestly, why oppose this pause with so little notice?
- 17:27Speaker 8: Why not give organizations more time to plan for the
- 17:31Speaker 8: fact that they are about to lose in some cases
- 17:34Speaker 8: really crucial federal funding.
- 17:37Speaker 2: There, at least for a period of time there was notice.
- 17:39Speaker 1: It was the executive order that the President signed. There's
- 17:41Speaker 1: also a freeze on hiring, as you know, a regulatory freeze,
- 17:44Speaker 1: and there's also a freeze.
- 17:46Speaker 2: On foreign aid.
- 17:47Speaker 1: And this is again incredibly important to ensure that this
- 17:50Speaker 1: administration is taking into consideration how hard the American people
- 17:55Speaker 1: are working and their tax dollars actually matter to this administration.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Just during this pause, Doge and Omb have actually found
- 18:04Speaker 1: that there was thirty seven million dollars that was about
- 18:07Speaker 1: to go out the door to the World Health Organization,
- 18:10Speaker 1: which is an organization as you all know, that President Trump,
- 18:13Speaker 1: with the swipe of his pen in that executive order,
- 18:16Speaker 1: is no longer wants the United States to be a
- 18:17Speaker 1: part of, so that wouldn't be in line with the
- 18:19Speaker 1: President's agenda.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Doje and Omb also found that there.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Was about to be fifty million taxpayer dollars that went
- 18:25Speaker 1: out the door to fund condoms in Gaza. That is
- 18:29Speaker 1: a preposterous waste of taxpayer money. So that's what this
- 18:32Speaker 1: pause is focused on, being good stewards of tax dollars.
- 18:35Speaker 8: This doesn't effect meals on wheels for head Start or
- 18:39Speaker 8: disaster aid.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Again, it does not affect individual assistance that's going to Americans.
- 18:44Speaker 9: To follow up on Nancy, do you think there will
- 18:46Speaker 9: be a list of who is affected and how much
- 18:48Speaker 9: money is affected.
- 18:49Speaker 8: How will these contractors and organizations know if they are
- 18:52Speaker 8: actually being having.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Their funding frozen?
- 18:55Speaker 9: And then, secondly, if you're willing, can you just clarify
- 18:58Speaker 9: as the end goal of this to essentially challenge Congress
- 19:03Speaker 9: or to prove that the president can withhold federal offending is.
- 19:07Speaker 2: In other words, is this an attempt to pick a
- 19:09Speaker 2: fight to prove that he can do this? No, absolutely not.
- 19:12Speaker 1: As it says right here in the memo, which I
- 19:14Speaker 1: have and i'd encourage all of you to read it,
- 19:16Speaker 1: it says, the American people elected President Trump to be
- 19:19Speaker 1: the president of the United States and gave him a
- 19:21Speaker 1: mandate to increase the impact of every federal dollar. This
- 19:24Speaker 1: memo requires federal agencies to identify and review all federal
- 19:28Speaker 1: financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President's
- 19:32Speaker 1: policies and requirements. The American people gave President Trump an
- 19:36Speaker 1: overwhelming mandate on November fifth, and he's just trying to
- 19:39Speaker 1: ensure that the tax money going out the door in
- 19:41Speaker 1: this very bankrupt city actually aligns with the will and
- 19:45Speaker 1: the priorities of the American people will.
- 19:47Speaker 7: Be align Yes, welcome you look great.
- 19:50Speaker 10: You're doing a great job.
- 19:51Speaker 7: You talked about transparency, and some of us in this
- 19:54Speaker 7: room know how just transparent President Trump has been the
- 19:58Speaker 7: last five or six years. I think you'll do the same.
- 20:01Speaker 7: My question is, do you think this latest incident with
- 20:04Speaker 7: the President of Columbia is indicative of the global powerful
- 20:10Speaker 7: respect they have for President Trump moving forward not only
- 20:13Speaker 7: to engage in economic diplomacy with these countries, but also
- 20:19Speaker 7: world peace.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I'll echo the answer that the President gave on Air
- 20:24Speaker 1: Force one last night when he was asked a very
- 20:26Speaker 1: similar question by one of your colleagues in the media.
- 20:29Speaker 1: This signifies peace through strength is back, and this president.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Will not tolerate illegal.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Immigration into America's interior, and he expects every nation on
- 20:41Speaker 1: this planet again to cooperate with the repatriation of their
- 20:44Speaker 1: citizens who illegally entered into our country and broke America's laws.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Won't be tolerated.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And as you saw, the Colombian government quickly folded and
- 20:53Speaker 1: agreed to all the President Trump's demands.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Flights are underway once again. Two questions on deportation.
- 21:01Speaker 11: President Trump has sign on the campaign trail that he
- 21:03Speaker 11: would deport pro hamas students who are here on visas,
- 21:07Speaker 11: and on his first day in office, he's sign an
- 21:09Speaker 11: executive order that said, quote, the US must ensure that
- 21:12Speaker 11: admitted aliens and aliens otherwise already president in the US
- 21:16Speaker 11: do not bear hostile attitudes towards the citizens. Culture of
- 21:19Speaker 11: government institutions are found in principles. So should we take
- 21:23Speaker 11: this executive order as Trump saying he would be open
- 21:26Speaker 11: to deporting those students who are here on visas, but
- 21:30Speaker 11: you know, hold Trahama sympathies.
- 21:32Speaker 1: The President is open to deporting individuals who have broken
- 21:35Speaker 1: our nation's immigrations laws. So if they are here illegally,
- 21:40Speaker 1: then certainly he is open to deporting them. And that's
- 21:42Speaker 1: what this administration is hard at work at doing. We
- 21:45Speaker 1: receive data from DHS and from ICE every single day.
- 21:49Speaker 1: From what we hear on the ground, ICE agents are
- 21:51Speaker 1: feeling incredibly empowered right now because they actually have a
- 21:55Speaker 1: leader in this building who is supporting them and doing
- 21:57Speaker 1: their jobs that they were hired to do, which is
- 22:00Speaker 1: to detain, arrest, and deport illegal criminals who have invaded
- 22:04Speaker 1: our nation supporters over the past four years. That's what
- 22:07Speaker 1: the President is committed to seeing here Carol asked.
- 22:10Speaker 12: Very quickly, just following up on the question on immigration. First,
- 22:12Speaker 12: President Trump, during the course of the campaign in twenty
- 22:14Speaker 12: twenty four, said the following about illegal immigration. He said,
- 22:18Speaker 12: they're going back home where they belong, and we start
- 22:20Speaker 12: with the criminals. There are many, many criminals. NBC News
- 22:23Speaker 12: has learned that ICE arrested eleven hundred and seventy nine
- 22:25Speaker 12: on documented immigrants on Sunday, but nearly half of them
- 22:28Speaker 12: five hundred and sixty six of the migrants appear to
- 22:30Speaker 12: have no prior criminal record besides entering the country illegally.
- 22:35Speaker 12: Is the President still focused exclusive which is a civil crime,
- 22:38Speaker 12: not a it's not criminal federal crime. So I'm asking
- 22:43Speaker 12: though he said he was going to focus on those
- 22:45Speaker 12: violent offenders first, so is violent offenders no longer the
- 22:48Speaker 12: predicate for these people to be deported?
- 22:50Speaker 1: The President has said countless times on the campaign trail.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I've been with him at the rallies.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I know you've been there covering them to Peter that
- 22:57Speaker 1: he has focused on launching the largest mass deportation operation
- 23:00Speaker 1: in American history of illegal criminals. And if you are
- 23:03Speaker 1: an individual, a foreign national who illegally enters the United
- 23:07Speaker 1: States of America.
- 23:08Speaker 2: You are by definition a criminal, and so therefore you
- 23:10Speaker 2: are subject fartee.
- 23:11Speaker 12: I apologize for interrupting. So to be clear, it's not
- 23:13Speaker 12: that violent criminals do not receive precedents in terms of
- 23:16Speaker 12: the deportations.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Taken with President has also said two things can beat
- 23:19Speaker 1: you at the same time. We want to deport illegal criminals,
- 23:22Speaker 1: illegal immigrants from this country. But the President has said
- 23:25Speaker 1: that of course the illegal criminal drug dealers, the rapists,
- 23:30Speaker 1: the murderers, the individuals who have committed heinous acts on
- 23:33Speaker 1: the interior of our country and who have terrorized law
- 23:37Speaker 1: abiding American citizens, Absolutely.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Those should be the priority of ICE.
- 23:41Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that the other illegal criminals who
- 23:43Speaker 1: entered our nation's borders are off the table.
- 23:45Speaker 12: Understood, then, let me ask you a separate question about
- 23:47Speaker 12: the confusion that still exists across the country right now
- 23:49Speaker 12: as it relates to the freeze or the pause as
- 23:52Speaker 12: it's described. The President Trump, of course ran one of
- 23:55Speaker 12: the key policy items was that he was going to
- 23:57Speaker 12: lower prices, lower the cost of everything from groceries, as
- 23:59Speaker 12: all been said. But in many of the cases it
- 24:02Speaker 12: would seem that some of these moves could raise prices
- 24:05Speaker 12: for real Americans on everything from low income heating that program,
- 24:08Speaker 12: childcare programs. Will nothing that the President's doing here in
- 24:12Speaker 12: terms of the freeze in these programs raise prices on
- 24:15Speaker 12: ordinary Americans.
- 24:16Speaker 2: What particular actions are you referring to that woo a
- 24:19Speaker 2: l heap right now?
- 24:20Speaker 12: That's the low income heating program for example. We can
- 24:22Speaker 12: talk about there's no clarity, so I could refer to
- 24:24Speaker 12: a lot of them. We don't know what they are specifically.
- 24:26Speaker 12: Can you tell us that l heap, that lie heap
- 24:28Speaker 12: is not one of those affected?
- 24:30Speaker 1: So you're asking hypopthetical based on programs that you can't
- 24:33Speaker 1: even identify.
- 24:34Speaker 12: What I can tell you just just since you guys
- 24:37Speaker 12: haven't identified, let's do it together. Just for Americans at home,
- 24:39Speaker 12: Medicaid is that affected. I gave you a.
- 24:42Speaker 1: List of examples social Security, Medicare, welfare, benefits of food
- 24:48Speaker 1: stamps that will not be impacted by the federal pause.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I can get you the fullest after this briefing from
- 24:53Speaker 1: the Office of Management and Budget. But I do want
- 24:55Speaker 1: to address the cost cutting because that's certainly very important
- 24:59Speaker 1: and cutting the cost of living in this country. President
- 25:03Speaker 1: Trump has taken historic action over the past week.
- 25:05Speaker 2: To do that, he.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Actually signed a memorandum to deliver emergency price relief for
- 25:10Speaker 1: American families, which took a number of actions.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I can walk you through those.
- 25:14Speaker 1: He also repealed many onerous Biden administration regulations. We know
- 25:20Speaker 1: over the past four years, American households has been essentially
- 25:23Speaker 1: taxed fifty five thousand dollars in regulations from the previous administration,
- 25:28Speaker 1: and President Trump, with the swipe of his pen, rescinded those,
- 25:30Speaker 1: which will ultimately put more money back in the pockets
- 25:33Speaker 1: of the American people. So deregulation is a big deal.
- 25:36Speaker 1: And then when it comes to energy, I mean, the
- 25:38Speaker 1: President signed an executive order to declare a National Energy
- 25:41Speaker 1: Emergency here at home, which is going to make America
- 25:44Speaker 1: energy dominant. We know that energy is one of the
- 25:46Speaker 1: number one drivers of inflation, and so that's why the
- 25:50Speaker 1: President wants to increase our energy supply to bring down
- 25:52Speaker 1: costs for Americans. The Trump energy boom is in coming,
- 25:55Speaker 1: and Americans can expect that.
- 26:00Speaker 2: The confusion I think may be here with this pause
- 26:02Speaker 2: on federal funding.
- 26:03Speaker 13: You've made it clear you're not stopping funds that go
- 26:05Speaker 13: directly to individuals, but there certainly are lots of organizations
- 26:08Speaker 13: that receive funding and then may pass along a benefit
- 26:10Speaker 13: meals on wheels. For one, they provide meals for over
- 26:13Speaker 13: two point two million seniors. What is the President's message
- 26:16Speaker 13: to Americans out there, many of whom supported him and
- 26:18Speaker 13: voted for him, who are concerned that this is going
- 26:21Speaker 13: to impact them directly, even if, as you said, the
- 26:24Speaker 13: funding isn't coming directly to their wife.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I have now been asked and answered this question four
- 26:28Speaker 1: times to individuals at home who receive direct assistance from
- 26:33Speaker 1: the federal government. You will not be impacted by this
- 26:36Speaker 1: federal freeze. In fact, O and B just sent out
- 26:39Speaker 1: a memo to Capitol Hill with Q and A to
- 26:43Speaker 1: clarify some of the questions and the answers that all
- 26:45Speaker 1: of you are asking me right now. Again, direct assistants
- 26:49Speaker 1: will not be impacted. I've been asked and answered about
- 26:52Speaker 1: this O and B memo. There's many other topics of
- 26:54Speaker 1: the day, Jackie Hyder, correct.
- 26:55Speaker 13: Assistance Carolina is going to another organization and then trickling
- 26:58Speaker 13: down direct assistance that is in the hands of the
- 27:00Speaker 13: American people will not be impacted.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Again, as I said to Peter, we will continue to
- 27:04Speaker 1: provide that list as.
- 27:05Speaker 2: It comes to fruition.
- 27:07Speaker 1: But O and b right now is focused on analyzing
- 27:09Speaker 1: the federal government's spending, which is exactly what the American
- 27:12Speaker 1: people elected President Trump to do.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Immigration.
- 27:16Speaker 13: The thirty five hundred arrests ICE has made so far
- 27:19Speaker 13: since President Trump came back into office, can you just
- 27:21Speaker 13: tell us the numbers how many have a criminal record
- 27:24Speaker 13: versus those who are just in the country illegally.
- 27:26Speaker 1: All of them because they illegally broke our nation's laws,
- 27:28Speaker 1: and therefore they are criminals as far as this administration goes.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I know the last administration didn't see it that way.
- 27:33Speaker 1: So it's a big culture shift in our nation to
- 27:35Speaker 1: view someone who breaks our immigration laws as a criminal.
- 27:38Speaker 1: But that's exactly what they are.
- 27:41Speaker 2: All a criminal records and welcome to the rate. If
- 27:42Speaker 2: they broke our nation's laws, Yes they are criminal. Yes,
- 27:46Speaker 2: thank you.
- 27:46Speaker 14: On stripping security details for figures like John Fulton's compe
- 27:52Speaker 14: O'Brien hook, Senator Tom Cotton said that he's seen the
- 27:55Speaker 14: intelligence and the threat.
- 27:57Speaker 2: From Iran is real for anyone who played a role
- 28:00Speaker 2: in the Solemani strike.
- 28:02Speaker 15: He voiced concerned it wouldn't just impact those individuals, but
- 28:05Speaker 15: potentially their family, and it is in bystanders, friends, anyone who's
- 28:09Speaker 15: near them when they're out in public. Is the President
- 28:13Speaker 15: open to reconsidering his decision.
- 28:17Speaker 1: The President was asked and answer this yesterday, and he
- 28:19Speaker 1: was firm in his decision despite some of the comments
- 28:22Speaker 1: that you had referenced, And he's made it very clear
- 28:24Speaker 1: that he does not believe American taxpayers should fund security
- 28:27Speaker 1: details for individuals who have served in the government for
- 28:30Speaker 1: the rest of their lives. And there's nothing stopping these
- 28:32Speaker 1: individuals that you mentioned from obtaining private security.
- 28:35Speaker 2: That's where the President stands on it. I have no
- 28:37Speaker 2: updates on that.
- 28:37Speaker 16: Is there any concern that this decision might jeopardize the
- 28:42Speaker 16: administration's ability to hire the best advisors for these kinds
- 28:47Speaker 16: of positions.
- 28:48Speaker 3: In the future.
- 28:48Speaker 14: No.
- 28:49Speaker 1: In fact, I've talked to the Presidential Personnel Office who
- 28:51Speaker 1: has told me directly that there is such an influx
- 28:54Speaker 1: of resumes for this administration that it's incredibly overwhelming. There
- 28:57Speaker 1: is no lack of talent for the Trump administration.
- 29:00Speaker 15: Would you take any responsibility if anything happened to these people?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Would he feel at all that his decision was a
- 29:06Speaker 1: factor in that President was asked in answer this yesterday.
- 29:08Speaker 2: I had defer you to mis postern Bagan since you're.
- 29:11Speaker 1: In the back row, I hear if the back row
- 29:12Speaker 1: hasn't forgotten that much attention in the last four years.
- 29:15Speaker 2: So I'm happy to answer your question.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I can project does.
- 29:18Speaker 17: The President intend to permanently cut off funding to NGOs
- 29:21Speaker 17: that are bringing illegal foreign nationals to the country, such
- 29:24Speaker 17: as Catholic charities.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I am actually quite certain that the President signed an
- 29:29Speaker 1: executive order that did just that, and I can point
- 29:31Speaker 1: you to that well.
- 29:32Speaker 17: More, Caroline, President Trump issued an executive order on increased
- 29:36Speaker 17: vetting for refugees and visa applications. Part of that order
- 29:40Speaker 17: was considering an outbreak ban for countries that have deficient
- 29:43Speaker 17: screening processes. As a president considered yet which countries might
- 29:46Speaker 17: fall into this category. Are countries like Afghanistan or Syria
- 29:50Speaker 17: under consideration for a full ban?
- 29:51Speaker 1: Yeah, So the President signed in executive order to streamline
- 29:54Speaker 1: the vetting for visa applicants and for illegal immigrants in
- 29:59Speaker 1: this country who are coming up, of course from other nations.
- 30:01Speaker 1: It also directed the Secretary of State to review the
- 30:04Speaker 1: process and make sure that other countries around the world
- 30:07Speaker 1: are being completely transparent with our nation in the individuals
- 30:11Speaker 1: that they are sending here, and so the Secretary of
- 30:14Speaker 1: State has been directed to report back to the President.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I haven't seen that report yet. We've only been here
- 30:19Speaker 2: for a few days. May rules one on the freezen
- 30:23Speaker 2: federal funding.
- 30:24Speaker 18: Who advised the president on the legality of telling government
- 30:27Speaker 18: agencies that they don't have to spend money that was
- 30:29Speaker 18: already appropriated by Congress.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Well, as the OMB memo states, this is certainly within
- 30:35Speaker 1: the confines of the law. So White House Counsel's office
- 30:38Speaker 1: believes that this is within the President's power to do it,
- 30:41Speaker 1: and therefore he's doing it okay.
- 30:43Speaker 18: So they disagree with lawmakers who say that they don't
- 30:45Speaker 18: have the power to freeze this fund.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Again, and I would point you to the language in
- 30:48Speaker 2: the memo that clearly this is within the law and all.
- 30:51Speaker 18: What happened on Friday night, the administration fired several Inspectors
- 30:55Speaker 18: general without giving Congress the thirty day legally required notification
- 30:58Speaker 18: that they were being fired. I think only two were
- 31:01Speaker 18: left Djsland DOJ. And then yesterday we saw several prosecutors
- 31:06Speaker 18: have lived twelve fire from the Justice Department who worked
- 31:09Speaker 18: on the investigations into the president. As you know, they
- 31:12Speaker 18: are career prosecutors. Therefore they are afforded civil service protections.
- 31:16Speaker 18: How is the administration deciding which laws to follow and
- 31:20Speaker 18: which ones to ignore?
- 31:22Speaker 1: So it is the belief of this White House, in
- 31:24Speaker 1: the White House Council's Office, that the President was within
- 31:26Speaker 1: his executive authority to do that. He is the executive
- 31:30Speaker 1: of the executive branch, and therefore he has the power
- 31:33Speaker 1: to fire anyone within the executive branch that he wishes to.
- 31:36Speaker 1: There's also a case that went before the Supreme Court
- 31:39Speaker 1: in twenty twenty Scala Law llc versus the Customs the
- 31:44Speaker 1: Bureau Protection.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I would advise you to look at that case. And
- 31:47Speaker 2: that's the legality that this White House was wrestled. You're
- 31:50Speaker 2: confident that.
- 31:50Speaker 18: If they bring lawsuits against you as prosecutors.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Who were fired, that they will we will win in court.
- 31:55Speaker 2: And did he personally direct this?
- 31:57Speaker 18: Given they worked on the cost by Document's investigation in
- 32:00Speaker 18: the election interferre it's investigation.
- 32:02Speaker 1: This was an memo that went out by the Presidential
- 32:04Speaker 1: Personnel Office.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And the president is the leader of this White House.
- 32:07Speaker 19: So yes, yes, Caroline, thank you, congrats on your firs
- 32:12Speaker 19: DA guid the podium.
- 32:14Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 32:16Speaker 20: President Trump ended funding for UNDROP and also designated the
- 32:21Speaker 20: whois a foreign terrorist organization. Both were decisions that the
- 32:24Speaker 20: previous administration had reversed.
- 32:26Speaker 4: So here's my question.
- 32:28Speaker 10: Will there be an investigation.
- 32:30Speaker 20: Into who gave the previous administration this terrible advice?
- 32:34Speaker 2: Well, that's a very good point.
- 32:35Speaker 1: I haven't heard discussions about such an investigation, but it
- 32:38Speaker 1: wouldn't be a bad idea considering that the WHO thise
- 32:41Speaker 1: certainly are terrorists. They have launched attacks on US naval
- 32:45Speaker 1: ships across this world, and so I think it was
- 32:48Speaker 1: a very wise move by this administration to redesignate them
- 32:51Speaker 1: as a terrorist group because they are, and I think
- 32:53Speaker 1: it was a foollest decision by the previous administration to
- 32:56Speaker 1: do so. As for an investigation, I'm not sure about that,
- 32:58Speaker 1: but it's not a bad idea.
- 33:00Speaker 21: Jeli, thank you for the question. I appreciate you gives
- 33:03Speaker 21: an ave been in the President's plan for his tariff agenda.
- 33:05Speaker 21: He spoke a lot about this yesterday, and there's a
- 33:07Speaker 21: couple of dates coming up that he's spoken to. Number
- 33:10Speaker 21: one February first, he's alluded to both the potential for
- 33:12Speaker 21: terariff for Canada and Mexico, but also China to take
- 33:15Speaker 21: effect on those days. Where's what's you thinking about that?
- 33:19Speaker 21: Should those countries expect that on Again, he was.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Asked to answer this question this past weekend when he
- 33:23Speaker 1: took a lot of questions from the press, and he
- 33:25Speaker 1: said that the February first date for Canada and Mexico
- 33:28Speaker 1: still holds the.
- 33:30Speaker 21: China ten percent tariff that he also admused tout last
- 33:32Speaker 21: Tuesday going intoffect on the same day.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Yes, the President has said that he is very much
- 33:37Speaker 1: still considering that for February first.
- 33:39Speaker 21: Yesterday he talked also about sectoral tariffs on for instance,
- 33:42Speaker 21: pharmaceuticals as well as semiconductor computer chips. He talked about steel, aluminum,
- 33:46Speaker 21: and copper. What's the timeline on those? Is that a
- 33:49Speaker 21: similar sort of coming day's thing.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Yeah, So when the President talked about that in his
- 33:53Speaker 1: speech yesterday, that actually wasn't a new announcement. That was
- 33:55Speaker 1: within a presidential memorandum that he signed in one of
- 33:58Speaker 1: the first days here in the White House on his
- 34:01Speaker 1: America First Trade agenda. So there's more details on those
- 34:04Speaker 1: tariffs and there as far as a date. I don't
- 34:06Speaker 1: have a specific date to read out to you, but
- 34:08Speaker 1: the President is committed to implementing tariffs effectively, just like
- 34:11Speaker 1: he did in his first term.
- 34:12Speaker 21: Finally, he also was asked on the plane when he
- 34:14Speaker 21: gaggled about the potentials for a universal tar if. He
- 34:17Speaker 21: was asked, maybe about two and a half percent. There
- 34:19Speaker 21: was a report, but that he said he wanted much
- 34:21Speaker 21: bigger than that. Should we understand that these tariffs would
- 34:23Speaker 21: add up, you know? In other words, he might have
- 34:25Speaker 21: country specific tariffs like Canada, Mexico, China. You might have
- 34:29Speaker 21: sectoral tariffs like on pharmaceuticals, as well as a potential
- 34:32Speaker 21: universal tariff on top of that. Did he stack on
- 34:35Speaker 21: one of the other or would one sort of take
- 34:38Speaker 21: precedence over another.
- 34:39Speaker 1: All I can appoint you to is what the President
- 34:40Speaker 1: has said on this front, the February first date for
- 34:42Speaker 1: Canada and Mexico. Also the China tariff that he has discussed.
- 34:46Speaker 1: He rejected the tw two point five percent tarra if.
- 34:48Speaker 1: He said that was a little bit too low. He
- 34:50Speaker 1: wants it to be higher. I'll leave it to him
- 34:52Speaker 1: to make any decisions on that front.
- 34:55Speaker 21: What the Mexicans and Canadians have done so far. If
- 34:56Speaker 21: you have any comment on whether that has met Labar
- 34:58Speaker 21: what he wants to see on federill think I won't.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Get ahead of the president again on advocating to foreign
- 35:05Speaker 1: nations on what they should or shouldn't do to.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Get away from these tariffs.
- 35:09Speaker 1: The President has made it very clear again that he
- 35:11Speaker 1: expects every nation around this world to cooperate with the
- 35:15Speaker 1: repatriation of their citizens. And the President has also put
- 35:17Speaker 1: out specific statements in terms of Canada and Mexico when
- 35:21Speaker 1: it comes to what he expects in terms of border security.
- 35:23Speaker 1: We have seen a historic level of cooperation from Mexico.
- 35:26Speaker 1: But again, as far as I'm still tracking, and that
- 35:28Speaker 1: was last night talking to the President directly.
- 35:30Speaker 2: February first is still on the books.
- 35:32Speaker 22: Phil the lady Caroline quick programming note and then a
- 35:35Speaker 22: questions on tax and well in terms of programming, should
- 35:39Speaker 22: we expect to see you here every day? How frequently
- 35:41Speaker 22: will these press bringings be?
- 35:43Speaker 2: It is a good question, April.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So look, the President, as you know, is incredibly accessible.
- 35:48Speaker 1: First day here, he wanted all of you in the
- 35:50Speaker 1: Oval Office. You got a sixty minute press conference with
- 35:53Speaker 1: the leader of the Free world while he was simultaneously
- 35:55Speaker 1: signing executive orders.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I may add that's pretty impressive. I don't think the
- 35:58Speaker 2: previous office hold would be able to pull such a
- 36:02Speaker 2: thing off.
- 36:02Speaker 1: So look, the President is the best spokesperson that this
- 36:06Speaker 1: White House has, and I can assure you that you
- 36:07Speaker 1: will be hearing from both him and me as much
- 36:11Speaker 1: as possible tax cuts.
- 36:13Speaker 22: You know, the President has promised to extend the tax
- 36:16Speaker 22: cuts from the previous term. I'm curious, you know, does
- 36:19Speaker 22: the President support corresponding spending cuts as some Republicans have
- 36:23Speaker 22: called for in Congress, and will the new Treasury Secretary
- 36:27Speaker 22: be leading those negotiations with the Hill as Minutian did
- 36:31Speaker 22: during the first administration.
- 36:32Speaker 1: The President is committed to both tax cuts and spending cuts,
- 36:35Speaker 1: and he has a great team negotiating on his behalf.
- 36:38Speaker 1: But there's no better negotiator than Donald Trump, and I'm
- 36:40Speaker 1: sure he'll be involved in this reconciliation process as it
- 36:43Speaker 1: moves forward.
- 36:46Speaker 23: Kron The announced that the made last night on the
- 36:50Speaker 23: Iron Dome. It said the President had directed that the
- 36:54Speaker 23: United States will build this Iron Dome. Yeah, when you
- 36:57Speaker 23: read into the executive order, it seemed short of that.
- 37:01Speaker 23: It asked for a series of studies and reports back
- 37:04Speaker 23: from Can you tell us whether the president has directed
- 37:07Speaker 23: this and if.
- 37:08Speaker 10: He is this concerned on this issue. Why the suspensions
- 37:12Speaker 10: that we saw listed by OMB included so many different
- 37:17Speaker 10: nuclear programs, non proliferation programs, programs.
- 37:21Speaker 23: To blend down nuclear weapons.
- 37:24Speaker 10: And so forth.
- 37:25Speaker 1: First of all, when it comes to the iron Dome,
- 37:27Speaker 1: the executive order directed the implementation of an iron dome.
- 37:32Speaker 1: It also, as you said, kind of directed research and
- 37:34Speaker 1: studies to see or how the United States can go
- 37:38Speaker 1: about doing this, particularly the Department of Defense. When it
- 37:42Speaker 1: comes to the other question that you asked about those
- 37:45Speaker 1: specific programs, again, I would say this is not a ban.
- 37:49Speaker 1: This is a temporary pause and a freeze to ensure
- 37:53Speaker 1: that all of the money going out from Washington, d
- 37:56Speaker 1: C is in aligned with the President's agenda. And as
- 37:58Speaker 1: the Office of Management Budget has updates on what will
- 38:02Speaker 1: be kickstarted once again, I will provide those to you.
- 38:06Speaker 23: Five.
- 38:06Speaker 10: For a sec what you were saying before Medicaid, it
- 38:09Speaker 10: wasn't clear to me whether you were saying that no
- 38:12Speaker 10: Medicaid would be cut off. Obviously a lot of this
- 38:15Speaker 10: goes to states before it goes to individuals and so forth,
- 38:18Speaker 10: So are you guaranteeing here that no individual now on
- 38:21Speaker 10: Medicaid would see you cut off because of the pause.
- 38:24Speaker 2: I'll check back on that and get back to you. John.
- 38:27Speaker 24: Thanks a lot, Caroline. As you know, in the first
- 38:30Speaker 24: week that the President was an office signed and executive
- 38:33Speaker 24: order as it relates to birthright citizenship, trying to eliminate that.
- 38:37Speaker 24: Our twenty two state attorney generals have said that this
- 38:42Speaker 24: is unconstitutional. Federal judge has just agreed with their argument.
- 38:47Speaker 24: What's the administration's argument for doing away with birthright citizenship?
- 38:52Speaker 1: The folks that you mentioned have a right to have
- 38:55Speaker 1: that legal opinion, but it is in disagreement with the
- 38:58Speaker 1: legal opinion of this administration. This administration believes that birthright
- 39:03Speaker 1: citizenship is unconstitutional, and that is why President Trump signed
- 39:07Speaker 1: that executive order. Illegal immigrants who come to this country
- 39:11Speaker 1: and have a child are not subject to the laws
- 39:14Speaker 1: of this jurisdiction. That's the opinion of its administration. We
- 39:18Speaker 1: have already appealed the rule of the lawsuit that was
- 39:21Speaker 1: filed against this administration, and we are prepared to fight
- 39:24Speaker 1: this all the way to the Supreme Court if we
- 39:25Speaker 1: have to. Because President Trump believes that this is a
- 39:28Speaker 1: necessary step to secure our nations borders and protect our homeland.
- 39:34Speaker 24: Caroline, Foreign Policy, If I may help, the President's commitment
- 39:39Speaker 24: to the NATO Defense Alliance. Is it as strong as
- 39:43Speaker 24: the prior administration? Is it the same as when he
- 39:46Speaker 24: served as president in his first termament office?
- 39:49Speaker 1: As long as NATO pays their fair share, and President
- 39:51Speaker 1: Trump has called on NATO allies to increase their defense
- 39:54Speaker 1: spending to five percent. You actually saw the head of
- 39:57Speaker 1: NATO at Davos last week on Bloomberg Television saying that
- 40:01Speaker 1: President Trump is right and if Europe wants to keep
- 40:04Speaker 1: itself safe, they should increase their defense spending. I would
- 40:07Speaker 1: just add that there was no greater ally to our
- 40:10Speaker 1: European allies than President Trump. In his first term, the
- 40:13Speaker 1: world for all nations in Europe and of course here
- 40:17Speaker 1: at home was much safer because of President Trump's peace
- 40:21Speaker 1: through strength diplomatic approach.
- 40:24Speaker 25: Thank you, Caroline, and it's great to finally be called
- 40:26Speaker 25: on as.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Well in the briefing room. I appreciate that. Well, of course,
- 40:29Speaker 2: we know President Trump just got back from.
- 40:31Speaker 25: North Carolina and California meeting with victims of natural disasters.
- 40:35Speaker 25: There's the two year anniversary of the East Palestine, Ohio
- 40:38Speaker 25: toxic train derailment. Does President have any plans to go
- 40:41Speaker 25: visit the victims of that toxic spill or just visit
- 40:44Speaker 25: in general.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Not no plans that I can read out for you here.
- 40:47Speaker 1: If that changes, I will certainly keep you posted. What
- 40:49Speaker 1: I can tell you is that President Trump still talks
- 40:52Speaker 1: about his.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Visit to East Palestine, Ohio.
- 40:55Speaker 1: That was one of the turning points, I would say
- 40:57Speaker 1: in the previous election campaign where Americans were reminded that
- 41:01Speaker 1: President Trump is a man of the people, and he
- 41:04Speaker 1: as a candidate visited that town that was just derailed
- 41:08Speaker 1: by the trained derailment, no pun intended, and he offered support.
- 41:11Speaker 2: And hope, just like I saw the President do this
- 41:13Speaker 2: past week.
- 41:14Speaker 1: It was a purposeful decision by this president on his
- 41:17Speaker 1: first domestic trip to go to North Carolina into California
- 41:21Speaker 1: to visit with Americans who were impacted by Hurricane Helene
- 41:24Speaker 1: and also by the deadly fires. A red state and
- 41:27Speaker 1: a blue state, both of which feel forgotten by the
- 41:30Speaker 1: previous administration. In the federal government that is now ended.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Under President Trump, he will continue to put Americans first,
- 41:37Speaker 1: whether they're in East Palestine, in Pacific Palisades or in
- 41:40Speaker 1: North Carolina.
- 41:43Speaker 7: Thank you Caroline.
- 41:44Speaker 6: On California, could you please clarify what the military did
- 41:47Speaker 6: with the water last night as reference to the president's
- 41:50Speaker 6: true social trust.
- 41:51Speaker 1: The water has been turned back on in California, and
- 41:54Speaker 1: this comes just days after President Trump visited Pacific Palisades
- 41:58Speaker 1: and as you all saw, applied tremendous pressure on state
- 42:03Speaker 1: and local officials in Pacific Palisades, including Los Angeles Mayor
- 42:07Speaker 1: Karen Bass, to turn on the water and to direct
- 42:10Speaker 1: that water to places in the south and in the
- 42:13Speaker 1: middle of the state that have been incredibly dry, which
- 42:16Speaker 1: has led to the expansion, the rapid expansion of these fires.
- 42:20Speaker 6: So could you clarify what the military's role was, where
- 42:23Speaker 6: the water came from, and how it got there.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Again, the Army Corps of Engineers has been on the
- 42:27Speaker 1: ground in California to respond to the devastation from these wildfires.
- 42:33Speaker 1: And I would point out that just days after President
- 42:36Speaker 1: Trump visited the devastation from these fires, the water was
- 42:39Speaker 1: turned on. That is because of the pressure campaign he
- 42:42Speaker 1: put on state and local officials there who clearly lack
- 42:45Speaker 1: all common sense. And I will never forget being at
- 42:47Speaker 1: that roundtable with the President last week and hearing the
- 42:50Speaker 1: frustration in the voices of Pacific Palisades residents who feel
- 42:54Speaker 1: as though their government has just gone insane. Before President
- 42:57Speaker 1: Trump showed up on the scene, Karen Bass was telling
- 43:00Speaker 1: private property owners that they would have to wait eighteen
- 43:03Speaker 1: months to access their private property. So this administration, the
- 43:07Speaker 1: President and his team that's on the ground in California,
- 43:09Speaker 1: Rick Cornell, who has designated to oversee this great crisis,
- 43:14Speaker 1: it will continue to put pressure on Karen Bass and
- 43:17Speaker 1: state and local officials to allow residents to access their properties.
- 43:20Speaker 2: This is a huge part of it.
- 43:22Speaker 1: These residents want to take part in their own clearing
- 43:25Speaker 1: out of their properties. They should be able to do that.
- 43:27Speaker 1: It's the United States of America. What happened to our freedom?
- 43:30Speaker 1: Clearly it's gone in California, but not anymore under President
- 43:33Speaker 1: Chump April.
- 43:34Speaker 26: Parentline, welcome to the brief and whom thanking several questions.
- 43:37Speaker 26: One on the pause will minority serving institutions, it's preferably
- 43:43Speaker 26: colleges and universities. Have those moneies held back temporarily at
- 43:47Speaker 26: this moment.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Again, I have not seen the entire list because this
- 43:50Speaker 1: memo was just sent out, So I will provide you
- 43:53Speaker 1: all with updates as we receive them.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Okay, So that's really also.
- 43:58Speaker 26: Secondly, when it comes to immigration, there is this southern
- 44:02Speaker 26: border focus. What happens to those who've.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Overstayed their visas?
- 44:07Speaker 26: That is part of the broken immigration system. In twenty
- 44:10Speaker 26: twenty three, there was a report by the Biden administration
- 44:12Speaker 26: of Homeland Security Department. It said, overstays of visas but
- 44:15Speaker 26: three times more than usual. Will there be a focus
- 44:18Speaker 26: on the overstays for visus as well?
- 44:21Speaker 1: If an individual is overstaying their visa, they are therefore
- 44:24Speaker 1: an illegal immigrant residing in this country and they are
- 44:26Speaker 1: subject to deportation.
- 44:28Speaker 18: Yes.
- 44:29Speaker 26: Lastly, as we're dealing with anti DEI, anti woke efforts,
- 44:32Speaker 26: we understand this administration could speaking about celebrating Black History Month.
- 44:37Speaker 5: Have you got any word on that, anything that you can.
- 44:40Speaker 26: Offer to us?
- 44:41Speaker 1: As far as I know, this White House certainly still
- 44:43Speaker 1: intends to celebrate and we will continue to celebrate American
- 44:46Speaker 1: history and the contributions that all Americans, regardless of race, religion,
- 44:50Speaker 1: or creed, have made to our great country.
- 44:52Speaker 2: And America is back. Christian Nato.
- 44:54Speaker 19: Thanks Carolyn, just real quick you mentioned the Inflation Executive
- 44:58Speaker 19: Order the President signed eight prices of skyrocketed since President
- 45:02Speaker 19: Trump took office, So what specifically is he doing to
- 45:05Speaker 19: lower those costs for Americans?
- 45:07Speaker 1: Really glad you brought this up, because there is a
- 45:10Speaker 1: lot of reporting out there that is putting the onus
- 45:12Speaker 1: on this White House for the increased cost of eggs.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I would like to point out to each and every
- 45:17Speaker 1: one of you that in twenty twenty four, when Joe
- 45:20Speaker 1: Biden was in the Oval office or upstairs in the
- 45:22Speaker 1: residents sleeping, I'm not so sure egg prices increased sixty
- 45:26Speaker 1: five percent. In this country, we also have seen the
- 45:31Speaker 1: cost of everything, not just eggs, bacon, groceries, gasoline have
- 45:35Speaker 1: increased because of the inflationary policies of the last administration.
- 45:39Speaker 1: As far as the egg shortage, what's also contributing to
- 45:42Speaker 1: that is that the Biden administration in the Department of
- 45:44Speaker 1: Agriculture directed the mass killing of more than one hundred
- 45:48Speaker 1: million chickens, which has led to a lack of chicken
- 45:51Speaker 1: supply in this country, therefore lack of egg supply, which
- 45:54Speaker 1: is leading to the shortage.
- 45:55Speaker 2: So I will leave you with this point.
- 45:57Speaker 1: This is an example of why it's so incredibly important
- 46:00Speaker 1: that the Senate moves swiftly to confirm all of President
- 46:03Speaker 1: Trump's nominees, including his nominee for the United States Department
- 46:06Speaker 1: of Agriculture, Brook Rawlins, who is already speaking with Kevin Hassett,
- 46:10Speaker 1: who's leading the economic team here at the White House,
- 46:13Speaker 1: on how we can address the egg shortage in this country.
- 46:15Speaker 2: As for costs, I laid out costs. I laid out
- 46:18Speaker 2: the plethora.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Of dressed saving costs for the American people over the
- 46:24Speaker 1: past week.
- 46:24Speaker 2: He looks forward to continuing to doing that. In the
- 46:26Speaker 2: days of are many played portals down in all fifty states,
