Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We are out of the gates of Sporting State. Good
- 0:02Speaker 1: morning to you. Glad you're with us here for Hutton
- 0:04Speaker 1: and Withrow. Chad, good to be with you, man.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Good to see you.
- 0:07Speaker 1: How was the evening? You know, it was good. How
- 0:12Speaker 1: are you?
- 0:13Speaker 3: You've gone a little dark on the group text. Are
- 0:15Speaker 3: you upset about Lane Kiffin?
- 0:17Speaker 2: No, man.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I'm good. I'm good to go. Good to go. I
- 0:21Speaker 1: went to bed early last night, actually. Nice. Got the
- 0:24Speaker 1: most sleep I've had in a long time. And I
- 0:26Speaker 1: won't hear any trash talk about going to sleep early
- 0:28Speaker 1: when it comes to me. There you go.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Hutton, you've turned over a new leaf. You're a new
- 0:33Speaker 2: man now.
- 0:34Speaker 3: When you get on that schedule, you can't get enough
- 0:36Speaker 3: of it. When you're getting plenty of sleep.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Every night, it's great. That's it. No kids. No kids.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Plenty of sleep. I have no excuse.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I had my first ever Board of Trust meeting last night.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'm on the board at my daughter's school. That was
- 0:51Speaker 3: three hours, Hutton. That was three hours.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Of my night.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I'll just leave it there. I've got to be careful
- 0:57Speaker 2: about what I say.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I love to bring our lives onto this show a lot,
- 1:01Speaker 3: but I was informed, given my job in this show,
- 1:05Speaker 3: that there are certain things I can't bring to the.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Show and discuss. Oh, wow.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Are you kidding me?
- 1:11Speaker 3: Because there could be legal issues that arise. There could
- 1:13Speaker 3: be different things. For a school board meeting? I'll pick
- 1:18Speaker 3: and choose on what I'm going to do. My daughter's school,
- 1:21Speaker 3: as you can see right here, DCA, that was the lamest.
- 1:26Speaker 3: The way I did it, This reminds me of someone
- 1:28Speaker 3: that we know, the way I winked at the coffee mug.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I don't know what I was doing there. It felt
- 1:33Speaker 3: like my wrist became gelatinous all of a sudden. But
- 1:36Speaker 3: either way, I'm here. I'm ready to go. I'm fully rested.
- 1:40Speaker 3: You're fully rested. Let's bang this thing out today, baby.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Let's bang some hats. We will, man. Coming up, we
- 1:46Speaker 1: discuss Arion Carter, SEC versus Kiffin, and much more. Rest
- 1:50Speaker 1: in peace to the wonderful Dolly Parton. Passes away at
- 1:54Speaker 1: the age of 80. queen of country and the queen
- 1:57Speaker 1: of our hearts man her her ability to give back
- 2:01Speaker 1: not just to the community but to anybody that was
- 2:04Speaker 1: around her was in uh just impossible to reproduce man
- 2:09Speaker 1: like she's uh one of a kind and so many
- 2:13Speaker 1: great stories that have poured out since news came out
- 2:16Speaker 1: of her passing but like chad you just drive across
- 2:19Speaker 1: the state of tennessee she's everywhere you turn.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It really is incredible.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I mean, we were in Birmingham recently, Hutton, and we
- 2:25Speaker 3: passed the Dolly Parton truck stop and stopped in. And
- 2:29Speaker 3: you see the silhouette of Dolly Parton. And by the way,
- 2:33Speaker 3: delicious biscuits in that truck stop. So shout out to
- 2:35Speaker 3: Dolly Parton's truck stop on the Tennessee-Alabama state line. It's
- 2:40Speaker 3: cool to go through, you know, on the X tab,
- 2:43Speaker 3: occasionally get sucked into the 4U tab. With people you're
- 2:46Speaker 3: not following? This is one of the few times that actually...
- 2:48Speaker 3: That's actually it for me. I get trapped in there
- 2:51Speaker 3: because I don't realize I'm in that tab. Exactly the
- 2:54Speaker 3: same for me. I start realizing, like, hey, this is
- 2:56Speaker 3: like 10 in a row I've seen that I don't follow.
- 2:58Speaker 3: So then I go up to the top and I
- 2:59Speaker 3: realize I'm in the For You tab. This is one
- 3:02Speaker 3: of those rare instances, though, where I actually enjoy it
- 3:05Speaker 3: because I'm seeing tributes from people and old videos of
- 3:09Speaker 3: her singing Islands in the Stream with Kenny Rogers on
- 3:11Speaker 3: different shows and in different concerts. I saw one where
- 3:15Speaker 3: she's on vacation in Ireland in 1990, and she gets
- 3:18Speaker 3: pulled up on stage in a pub, and the owner
- 3:21Speaker 3: asks her to sing, and she gives a perfect rendition
- 3:24Speaker 3: of Coat of Many Colors in front of all the
- 3:26Speaker 3: Irish people.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I mean, just pitch perfect.
- 3:29Speaker 1: The whole time.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Someone who embodied, I think, kindness to everyone, like not
- 3:35Speaker 3: a bad thing said about her.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Totally agree.
- 3:37Speaker 3: My daughters, they've read every single book that she sent
- 3:40Speaker 3: every month for the first five years of their lives.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I don't think many people realize that. All the giving
- 3:45Speaker 3: back she does with her imagination library, and JT can
- 3:49Speaker 3: speak to this too, who's big in the country music world.
- 3:51Speaker 3: The imagination library gives every Tennessean child a book for
- 3:56Speaker 3: every month for the first five years of their lives.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And they actually have a signup form at every Tennessee hospital.
- 4:02Speaker 3: It's with the birth of your child. you can sign up.
- 4:05Speaker 3: It's like, you know, one day electing to be an
- 4:07Speaker 3: organ donor when you go get your driver's license. You
- 4:10Speaker 3: can sign up when you have a child in a
- 4:12Speaker 3: Tennessee hospital to be a part of the Imagination Library.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It's very cool.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And JT, I know you're big in the world of
- 4:18Speaker 3: country music. This one hit hard when I saw your
- 4:21Speaker 3: text first about Dolly passing.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yeah, man, I never had a chance to meet her.
- 4:26Speaker 4: A lot of people do. You talk about the Imagination Library.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I mean, Both of my girls have got it. I
- 4:31Speaker 4: think the number is over 300 million books that she's
- 4:33Speaker 4: distributed worldwide.
- 4:34Speaker 1: This is not a Tennessee thing.
- 4:36Speaker 5: I think she launched that back in the mid-90s.
- 4:39Speaker 6: Dollywood, 40 years ago, gets 4 million people a year,
- 4:44Speaker 6: I think, there. I think your life is just kind
- 4:47Speaker 6: of a testament to kind of dream it big, believing
- 4:50Speaker 6: in yourself, being good to other people. She was raised
- 4:54Speaker 6: in a one-bedroom house with 12 siblings.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I mean, it's just kind of tough. You think about
- 5:00Speaker 4: my nine-year-old's wearing a Dolly shirt to school today, and
- 5:03Speaker 4: Juicy J from 3-6 Mafia is tweeting about her yesterday.
- 5:06Speaker 4: I mean, it just goes from one direction to the other. So, yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 4: rest in peace. She's definitely someone who's super special.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I was also just shocked.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I know she's 80, but you see her, and she
- 5:19Speaker 3: feels so omnipresent.
- 5:26Speaker 1: At all times in.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Show business that every time you see her, she seems
- 5:29Speaker 3: and looks healthy.
- 5:30Speaker 1: She sounds healthy.
- 5:31Speaker 3: So to see that news that she had passed away
- 5:33Speaker 3: was even for a woman in her, in her early
- 5:35Speaker 3: eighties was shocking to me.
- 5:36Speaker 1: The only thing I remember, uh, about not the only thing,
- 5:39Speaker 1: but like one of the big things I remember is
- 5:41Speaker 1: she refused to go out of her own, her own
- 5:43Speaker 1: home unless she was dressed to the nines, you know,
- 5:47Speaker 1: like she, she did, she had someone to help her
- 5:48Speaker 1: with her makeup and all that stuff. But if she
- 5:50Speaker 1: wasn't ready to go, you never saw her unless she
- 5:53Speaker 1: was ready to go like 10 out of 10. There
- 5:58Speaker 1: was no, like, today's a bad day for Dolly. If
- 6:01Speaker 1: she was out, she was ready to go. She was
- 6:03Speaker 1: like she was every other day.
- 6:05Speaker 4: I think she performed 10-ish days ago and kind of
- 6:08Speaker 4: told people she was dealing with some stuff and dehydrated
- 6:11Speaker 4: and whatnot.
- 6:12Speaker 2: So definitely be missed.
- 6:13Speaker 4: But she was definitely a good one for all of Tennessee,
- 6:17Speaker 4: the entire country music world, and, heck, the world itself.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah, appreciate you, JT. Dollywood, too, also very underrated.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Dollywood was– I mean, I've been one time, and I
- 6:29Speaker 3: was blown away. This was probably two or three years
- 6:32Speaker 3: ago I went, but it's incredible. I've never been to
- 6:36Speaker 3: Splash Country, Hutton, but I hear the water park's even
- 6:38Speaker 3: better than the actual park.
- 6:40Speaker 1: No, I still choose Dollywood over that, but Splash Country's
- 6:44Speaker 1: pretty cool. But, like, Dolly's Dream More Hotel– I've stayed
- 6:51Speaker 1: there before. Everything is branded perfectly, but it's meticulous. It's
- 6:56Speaker 1: meticulous Dolly Parton. It's one of a kind.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Well, speaking of meticulous, just showing her kindness and thoughtfulness
- 7:03Speaker 3: with everything that she did, JT uncovered a letter she
- 7:06Speaker 3: sent to John Ward, former voice of the Vols, upon
- 7:09Speaker 3: his retirement in 1998. And you can see it on
- 7:12Speaker 3: the screen right there. But the level that she goes
- 7:15Speaker 3: to with the letter that she sends to him about
- 7:18Speaker 3: loving listening to him call Vols games, how she's a
- 7:20Speaker 3: Vols fan and he's Tennessean, and how he's a Gardner
- 7:24Speaker 3: and that she's a Gardner also, and he could come
- 7:26Speaker 3: and trim the hedges at Dollywood at some point. I mean,
- 7:31Speaker 3: it's things like this. It's one thing that I think
- 7:34Speaker 3: when Peyton Manning passes away, hopefully many, many years from now,
- 7:38Speaker 3: he writes so many letters to people, there's so much correspondence.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Hutton, you're a fan of history also.
- 7:44Speaker 3: We have so much history because of letters sent from
- 7:47Speaker 3: Civil War generals to a wife or to a friend
- 7:51Speaker 3: or to another general or someone else. We know so
- 7:53Speaker 3: much about presidents back in the day because they were
- 7:56Speaker 3: so well-versed and well-written and they were constantly writing correspondence
- 8:01Speaker 3: out and we can piece together a life based on
- 8:04Speaker 3: what they write. I think that's just a little piece
- 8:06Speaker 3: of Dolly Parton that you see come out in that
- 8:08Speaker 3: letter to John Ward that starts to tell the story
- 8:11Speaker 3: of Kind of like a coat of many colors that
- 8:13Speaker 3: starts to tell that story of.
- 8:14Speaker 1: A full life.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And boy, did she live one.
- 8:17Speaker 3: It's incredible to see all the tributes pouring in. I
- 8:19Speaker 3: saw Jack White was performing in London last night and
- 8:22Speaker 3: did a rendition of Jolene after Dolly Parton passed away.
- 8:26Speaker 3: So there's going to be a lot more tributes pouring in.
- 8:28Speaker 3: But man, oh man, that one hit hard for a
- 8:31Speaker 3: couple of Tennessee boys like us.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 8:33Speaker 1: It's just a piece of history, like Chad's mentioning there.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And the Dolly Parton I think she's one of the
- 8:41Speaker 1: people that you take for granted until you realize how
- 8:43Speaker 1: much she meant to everybody. She was a staple in
- 8:49Speaker 1: every genre of every turn of someone's life if you
- 8:54Speaker 1: grew up in the state of Tennessee.
- 8:59Speaker 3: We did this exercise with Hutton and Withrow where we're
- 9:02Speaker 3: not Mount Rushmore guys.
- 9:04Speaker 1: The summer season of sports... When it's.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Like, let's put together our Mount Rushmore of basketball and
- 9:08Speaker 3: do all that. We find that to be lazy. But
- 9:11Speaker 3: this was the one time I was like, you know what?
- 9:14Speaker 3: A Mount Rushmore of Tennesseans. This came up in a
- 9:16Speaker 3: group text that I'm on. But it started to think about,
- 9:19Speaker 3: if you just think of legendary, accomplished, true Tennesseans, when
- 9:24Speaker 3: you think of the word Tennessee, the name Tennessee, these
- 9:28Speaker 3: four people popped to mind. And I went with General Nealon,
- 9:31Speaker 3: Davy Crockett, Andrew Jackson, and Dolly Parton. This has gotten
- 9:36Speaker 3: such a big response. Dolly Parton, Hutton, I think this
- 9:39Speaker 3: is a testament to how it feels like she's sort
- 9:42Speaker 3: of the world's. She belongs to everyone. She certainly belongs.
- 9:46Speaker 1: To Tennessee and East Tennessee specifically.
- 9:48Speaker 3: No one's arguing about Dolly Parton, and maybe that is
- 9:50Speaker 3: recency bias. I will say, I have been ripped to
- 9:54Speaker 3: shreds from people when I posted this about not including Elvis.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Elvis should be up here.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Many people argue that Elvis should be in place of
- 10:04Speaker 3: General Nealon.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Look, my immediate reaction is this.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Let me get into my immediate reaction to how I've
- 10:09Speaker 3: come a long way from my immediate reaction. My immediate
- 10:11Speaker 3: reaction to Elvis, and I just watched the Elvis biopic recently.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I love it. I like Elvis. He's obviously, he changed.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Music forever and for the better, okay? When I think
- 10:23Speaker 3: of Elvis, though, I think it's, when I think Dolly Parton,
- 10:25Speaker 3: I think Tennessean. I think a Tennessean that was loved
- 10:28Speaker 3: by the world but gave back to Tennessee and gave
- 10:31Speaker 3: so much back to Tennessee. When I think of Elvis,
- 10:34Speaker 3: I don't initially think Tennessean. I know that he built
- 10:37Speaker 3: his home in Memphis at Graceland. If you're talking about
- 10:40Speaker 3: the most famous buildings in the state of Tennessee, it's
- 10:43Speaker 3: Neyland Stadium, which is on the Mount Rushmore.
- 10:46Speaker 1: It's the Ryman and it's.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Graceland are probably the three most famous buildings. So Elvis
- 10:52Speaker 3: is a part of that with Graceland.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:54Speaker 3: But I think of like Nicole Kidman, who's accomplished things
- 10:57Speaker 3: all over the world and lives in Tennessee. When I
- 10:59Speaker 3: think of Elvis Presley, I'm not putting Nicole Kidman in
- 11:01Speaker 3: Elvis Presley's category at all in terms of celebrity or accomplishment.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Don't get me wrong with that. But yeah, I've come around.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Elvis Presley probably should be on that list. But I'm
- 11:13Speaker 3: going to have a hard time, personally, if I'm putting
- 11:16Speaker 3: this list together, taking General Nealon off of the list, too,
- 11:19Speaker 3: because he contributed so much to football. And his name's
- 11:22Speaker 3: also on the most famous building in the state.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Elvis should be on there over Nealon. I
- 11:27Speaker 1: would also say that I don't think I would think
- 11:30Speaker 1: of Davy Crockett as quickly as you did, if not
- 11:32Speaker 1: for Crockett Coffee. I don't think that Davey Crockett wouldn't
- 11:37Speaker 1: pop to mind as fast as Elvis would pop to mind.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So the, the other top submissions Hutton over the, not
- 11:45Speaker 3: many people, some argued over Davey Crockett because he left
- 11:48Speaker 3: Tennessee to go to Texas because he was mad at,
- 11:51Speaker 3: he didn't like Andrew Jackson.
- 11:53Speaker 2: They, they, they.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Quarreled and fought. So there was, there was some things
- 11:56Speaker 3: going on there. And of course, you know, Andrew Jackson,
- 11:59Speaker 3: you can just say that name and, people have reasons
- 12:01Speaker 3: as to.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Why he probably shouldn't be on the Mount Rushmore.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Andrew Jackson is on the, on the Mount Rushmore.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I totally agree.
- 12:06Speaker 3: He's on the Mount Rushmore, but some people, you know,
- 12:09Speaker 3: called me a savage murderer because I put them on
- 12:12Speaker 3: the list, which was.
- 12:13Speaker 2: To be expected.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 2: They both, they both had their, their pelts in the day.
- 12:19Speaker 2: That's for sure.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Look, they wrote a lot of letters. Yeah.
- 12:23Speaker 3: The other ones that were the most common that, Hey,
- 12:26Speaker 3: you should include Alvin C York, which is, Tough to
- 12:29Speaker 3: argue with that. General Nealon also fought in wars too,
- 12:33Speaker 3: but that's the level of Alvin C. York.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So I'll hear that submission.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, with a night to sleep on it,
- 12:40Speaker 3: people like Chad, you're a reasonable person.
- 12:43Speaker 1: This argument over Elvis is not reasonable.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I react emotionally like Deshaun Watson does to getting booed
- 12:49Speaker 3: at times. I got booed by people with Elvis Presley
- 12:52Speaker 3: and I reacted emotionally and I fired off some things.
- 12:55Speaker 3: And with a night to sleep on it, I'm thinking, okay,
- 12:58Speaker 3: I'll hear your Elvis arguments.
- 13:00Speaker 1: The other big argument.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Is Pat Summitt.
- 13:02Speaker 3: People are saying Pat Summitt may be even ahead of
- 13:04Speaker 3: General Neyland because.
- 13:06Speaker 2: She's from the state.
- 13:08Speaker 3: She is all Tennessee all the way through. General Neyland
- 13:11Speaker 3: didn't move to Tennessee until he was 33 years old.
- 13:14Speaker 1: He's a Texan. He went to West Point.
- 13:16Speaker 3: But he transformed Tennessee football and in many ways college
- 13:20Speaker 3: football with how the game is played.
- 13:22Speaker 2: So I'll hear it, okay?
- 13:24Speaker 3: If you want to change out Davey Crockett and Robert Nealon,
- 13:28Speaker 3: and we can put a– No.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Let's do this.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I think we need to change out Elvis. If Brooks Carter–
- 13:35Speaker 3: that's what I'm saying. If Brooks Carter is listening right now,
- 13:37Speaker 3: because we put this together yesterday, let's get a separate
- 13:41Speaker 3: one up there. Let's replace Davey Crockett and Robert Nealon
- 13:44Speaker 3: with Pat Summitt and Elvis. So now the new Mount
- 13:48Speaker 3: Rushmore Hutton, because– I did this on my own.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I sent it to the group. I said, this is
- 13:53Speaker 2: my initial thought.
- 13:54Speaker 1: What do you think? A lot of people loved it.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Some didn't. But I'm willing to compare the two.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Let's do an either-or with a graphic, okay? The one
- 14:01Speaker 3: that I put together yesterday and another one that replaces
- 14:04Speaker 3: Davy Crockett and replaces General Nealon with Pat Summitt and
- 14:08Speaker 3: with Elvis. And I'm willing to bet that the new
- 14:11Speaker 3: one will win in favor of most people and say, okay,
- 14:14Speaker 3: that is the one now. So that would be Andrew Jackson,
- 14:19Speaker 3: Dolly Parton, Elvis, Pat Summitt. So we'll let people vote online,
- 14:26Speaker 3: but you can chime in also in the YouTube chat
- 14:29Speaker 3: where I'm going to right now for the first time
- 14:31Speaker 3: to check it out.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And you can let us know what you think. You
- 14:34Speaker 1: can hit us up on YouTube at Hutton and Withrow.
- 14:36Speaker 1: That's where you can follow us. And subscribe on YouTube.
- 14:40Speaker 1: We hope you'll ring that bell. That way we go
- 14:43Speaker 1: live each and every day. 8 a.m. Eastern is our
- 14:46Speaker 1: kickoff time. And it's a kickoff time for the rest
- 14:49Speaker 1: of the Sporting State Network as well. We're here throughout
- 14:52Speaker 1: the day. Live reaction when we come back. Arion Carter
- 14:55Speaker 1: and much more straight ahead here on Hutton & Withrow.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Hit us up on socials at Hutton underscore Withrow is
- 15:01Speaker 1: where you can follow us on X. That's where you
- 15:03Speaker 1: can let us know about the Fantasy Football League if
- 15:06Speaker 1: you want in on the Fantasy Football League. For 2026,
- 15:10Speaker 1: we've got it for you. Welcome back, Hutton and Withrow.
- 15:13Speaker 1: We are presented by Hard Rock Bet. Chad, so now
- 15:18Speaker 1: I'm even more defined. Tennessee, Josh Heupel, they should absolutely
- 15:23Speaker 1: play Arian Carter week one.
- 15:26Speaker 3: So it's funny you bring this up because today, Hutton,
- 15:32Speaker 3: today is the day of reconciliation. I'm having to reconcile
- 15:36Speaker 3: my Mount Rushmore. I'm having to come back and say
- 15:39Speaker 3: something different than I said originally. Lane Kiffin, can't wait
- 15:43Speaker 3: to hear him talk because he went on Pat McAfee
- 15:46Speaker 3: and other shows and defended and said, hey, everybody's going
- 15:48Speaker 3: to do it, guys.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Everybody's going to jump in the water.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I'm just doing what everybody else is doing.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I don't like it like anyone else.
- 15:54Speaker 3: And then it comes out that Lane Kiffin was the
- 15:56Speaker 3: one in LSU telling these guys to file lawsuits to
- 16:00Speaker 3: come back to school. And now his boss at the
- 16:02Speaker 3: SEC is like, we will penalize you. I was shocked,
- 16:06Speaker 3: by the way.
- 16:06Speaker 1: We'll get into that later.
- 16:08Speaker 2: But also now, the NCAA Hutton.
- 16:10Speaker 3: has egg in their face because everyone in America blasted
- 16:14Speaker 3: them when they suspended Arian Carter. And then all this
- 16:17Speaker 3: starts happening with NFL players, and we're all saying this
- 16:19Speaker 3: is completely ridiculous. And they say, okay, okay, you guys might–
- 16:23Speaker 3: it's like me with my Elvis take. All right, guys,
- 16:26Speaker 3: all right, you might have an argument here. You might
- 16:28Speaker 3: have an argument. We'll suspend him for one game. Tennessee
- 16:31Speaker 3: AD Danny Whitehutton comes back and says, still too much.
- 16:35Speaker 3: It's still ridiculous that he has to sit for one game,
- 16:38Speaker 3: but it's better than two. And, look, I understand, like,
- 16:42Speaker 3: the goal is for him not to play too many
- 16:44Speaker 3: snaps against Furman anyways.
- 16:46Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 16:47Speaker 1: We're not going there. We're not going there. Play him, right?
- 16:50Speaker 1: Play him. Play him. Thank you. We're not going with this, oh,
- 16:53Speaker 1: he's not going to play that much against Furman anyway.
- 16:54Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 16:55Speaker 1: If you're going to play him, if your stance was
- 16:58Speaker 1: play him against Georgia Tech, then now you play him
- 17:00Speaker 1: against Furman. That's just how it should be. Screw the
- 17:04Speaker 1: NCAA on this. And the bow down to the NCAA continues.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I don't understand why because they keep coming back and
- 17:11Speaker 1: reducing this to the point where they're telling us that
- 17:14Speaker 1: they know it's ridiculous. But they just can't come wash
- 17:18Speaker 1: it off and say no suspension whatsoever. They're trying to
- 17:22Speaker 1: act like they have some type of spine, some type
- 17:24Speaker 1: of backbone. They don't. So I would stand up to
- 17:27Speaker 1: them and be like, yeah, we're playing against Furman for
- 17:29Speaker 1: the first half. We're suspending him for the second half
- 17:31Speaker 1: against Furman.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I am curious if Tennessee agreed to a compromise of
- 17:37Speaker 3: one game for Furman or if they continued? But you
- 17:40Speaker 3: see what I'm saying?
- 17:42Speaker 1: They agreed to the compromise of two.
- 17:45Speaker 3: They didn't agree to that either. They don't want any.
- 17:47Speaker 3: It was reduced from three to two. I understand, but
- 17:50Speaker 3: here's what I'm asking. I don't know the answer to this.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Did Tennessee say before this was released, okay, we'll accept that,
- 17:58Speaker 3: so go ahead and adjust it to one game, or
- 18:00Speaker 3: did Tennessee continue to fight and say it's no games?
- 18:03Speaker 1: It's zero games.
- 18:04Speaker 3: And the NCAA came back on their own and said, no,
- 18:06Speaker 3: it's one game now.
- 18:07Speaker 1: The AD doesn't come out and say what he says
- 18:09Speaker 1: if they say, okay, we'll accept that. I would agree.
- 18:12Speaker 3: And the AD also saying, look, I have my head
- 18:14Speaker 3: coaches back and everything that he said, which he said
- 18:16Speaker 3: it's all BS. And he continues to say that. And
- 18:19Speaker 3: he completely agrees with everything going on in the sport. Look,
- 18:25Speaker 3: it's better than not playing against Georgia Tech.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Okay?
- 18:27Speaker 3: That's a better situation than that.
- 18:31Speaker 1: But... I'm with you.
- 18:34Speaker 3: I start him. I play him for the half or
- 18:35Speaker 3: whatever he's going to play against Furman. And you roll
- 18:38Speaker 3: the dice and see what happens and see if the
- 18:40Speaker 3: NCAA just forgets about it.
- 18:41Speaker 1: What's the worst that could happen here? I mean, honestly,
- 18:44Speaker 1: compared to what's going on across college football. They're going
- 18:48Speaker 1: to get so pissed off at LSU, they're going to
- 18:50Speaker 1: take it out on Tennessee. Not anymore. None of this mindset.
- 18:56Speaker 2: The old mindset's gone.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Where we just... where Tennessee just bows down to whatever the,
- 19:01Speaker 1: whatever NCAA wants.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Meanwhile, you watch everyone else just run roughshod.
- 19:05Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no. That mindset's gone. I'm tired
- 19:08Speaker 1: of that.
- 19:10Speaker 3: If you remember a year ago when Nate Oates in
- 19:12Speaker 3: Alabama started playing Charles Bediako, I mean, the immediate response
- 19:15Speaker 3: from Greg Sankey was it's not allowed.
- 19:17Speaker 2: It's not legal.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Everyone was saying it with our rules, it's not legal,
- 19:21Speaker 3: but the court said it's okay. So we're, we're telling
- 19:25Speaker 3: you it's not legal. But they're also saying in the
- 19:27Speaker 3: court injunction, you can't penalize them after the fact.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Right, right. Because he's following a court order.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yes. But it didn't stop Alabama.
- 19:34Speaker 3: It didn't stop Nate Oates from going up to the
- 19:36Speaker 3: podium after games and saying ridiculous things about the reason
- 19:39Speaker 3: they were doing it. We're looking out for the kid
- 19:41Speaker 3: here at Alabama. You know, the kid really, really needed
- 19:44Speaker 3: to come back and play.
- 19:45Speaker 1: We're here for the kids. Whatever, BS.
- 19:48Speaker 3: We need to find a photo of Will Wade hugging R.J.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Lewis like he was a returning war hero after he
- 19:56Speaker 3: got done with his court case in the hallway. Like
- 19:58Speaker 3: I said yesterday, O.J., when he got acquitted and he's
- 20:02Speaker 3: hugging his legal defense team and crying all the time.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Robert Kardashian. You know, he's thanking God, looking up to
- 20:08Speaker 1: the heavens.
- 20:08Speaker 3: That was Will Wade with R.J. Lewis because this adult
- 20:11Speaker 3: grown man who....
- 20:14Speaker 1: Yeah, the Arion Carter thing. I'm happy for him. He's
- 20:19Speaker 1: a good kid. He did everything right. He followed the
- 20:22Speaker 1: procedure that you would want to follow if you are
- 20:25Speaker 1: in his situation, going to the combine or wanting to
- 20:28Speaker 1: go to the combine, hiring an agent, paying that agent
- 20:33Speaker 1: back for a flight. I mean, the whole thing's laughable.
- 20:37Speaker 1: The NCAA should rescind his entire suspension based on what
- 20:40Speaker 1: we're seeing right now at LSU. That's the truth. And
- 20:45Speaker 1: that's why there's no way that Tennessee agreed to this.
- 20:48Speaker 1: If they did, I've lost a lot of respect for them.
- 20:52Speaker 2: I don't think they agreed to it.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I'm just asking the question, was it a preconceived compromise
- 20:57Speaker 3: where they're like, okay, we'll allow this if you're Tennessee?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Here's the other thing, too.
- 21:01Speaker 3: What is the penalty if you defy the NCAA right now?
- 21:05Speaker 3: There's more of a penalty if you defy your own conference.
- 21:08Speaker 3: If you're a Big Ten school and you go against
- 21:10Speaker 3: the conference with something, to me there are worse ramifications
- 21:13Speaker 3: for that than if you go against the NCAA. I'd
- 21:16Speaker 3: say the same for Lane Kiffin and LSU with the
- 21:18Speaker 3: SEC right now.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I would think so. It was a 16-0 vote.
- 21:21Speaker 3: And the SEC has a history of making sure it's
- 21:23Speaker 3: unanimous before they put a vote out there. But their
- 21:26Speaker 3: own president voted against what Lane Kiffin is doing at LSU.
- 21:30Speaker 3: So if Lane Kiffin and the football team decided we're
- 21:32Speaker 3: just going to continue on, and play these guys and
- 21:35Speaker 3: bring them in, I think there are bigger ramifications, Hutton,
- 21:39Speaker 3: for that than there is if you're Tennessee and you
- 21:42Speaker 3: go against the NCAA and say we're going to play
- 21:44Speaker 3: Arion Carter no matter what.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Chad, Arion Carter means what to Tennessee's defense against Georgia Tech?
- 21:51Speaker 3: Arion Carter means leadership and versatility. And what I mean
- 21:56Speaker 3: by the versatility piece is this. Tennessee has yet to
- 21:59Speaker 3: define a true edge rusher. I think Jordan Norman, the
- 22:02Speaker 3: transfer from Tulane, is going to get the first shot
- 22:04Speaker 3: at it. I think Christian Gass might be a guy
- 22:06Speaker 3: that comes in and plays edge. But with losing Chaz Coleman,
- 22:10Speaker 3: who left the team, who was their big money NIL
- 22:14Speaker 3: transfer portal addition as an edge rusher, Jim Knowles, who
- 22:17Speaker 3: is capable of doing this, is going to have to
- 22:19Speaker 3: get creative. I think you're going to see Arian Carter.
- 22:22Speaker 3: line up his edge in past situations because they've got
- 22:24Speaker 3: plenty of linebackers. They could move Arion Carter to more
- 22:28Speaker 3: of an edge rusher and play other good linebackers without
- 22:31Speaker 3: a huge drop-off. They don't have edge rushers right now.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I think Jeremiah T. Lander is a guy who's going
- 22:36Speaker 3: to play some edge. Two guys we talked to in Tampa, Hutton,
- 22:39Speaker 3: in T. Lander and Arion Carter. To me, that's what
- 22:42Speaker 3: he brings to the table, not just his NFL-type ability,
- 22:46Speaker 3: and we saw that with some unbelievable plays he's made
- 22:49Speaker 3: over the last two years. but also the ability to
- 22:52Speaker 3: slide him out, put him as an edge rusher, blitz
- 22:55Speaker 3: him from different spots. I think that versatility that he brings,
- 22:59Speaker 3: it's an X factor for Tennessee's defense and what Jim
- 23:01Speaker 3: Knowles can do.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Well, and I think, too, they have the flexibility of
- 23:08Speaker 1: that position because they were moving on from Arian Carter.
- 23:11Speaker 1: They had already recruited past him because they thought he
- 23:15Speaker 1: was going pro. So that's actually the benefit of the
- 23:18Speaker 1: conundrum that they got stuck in. whatever Carter was able
- 23:22Speaker 1: to come back. And they brought in a Penn State
- 23:25Speaker 1: transfer in Amari Campbell. And the transfer, yeah. Who's a
- 23:28Speaker 1: death piece.
- 23:29Speaker 3: When they brought him in, you thought, okay, this is
- 23:31Speaker 3: a straight one-for-one replacement for Arian Carter that knows the
- 23:35Speaker 3: Jim Knowles defense. So, yeah, I think Tennessee was prepared
- 23:39Speaker 3: for that at linebacker. Not at every position. They're not
- 23:41Speaker 3: going to be really deep everywhere, but they're pretty deep
- 23:43Speaker 3: at that position. So getting Carter back was just a
- 23:46Speaker 3: gigantic bonus.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Is that their best position top to bottom?
- 23:52Speaker 3: I would put that offensive line running back as probably
- 23:57Speaker 3: the best positions for Tennessee. I really think that what
- 24:02Speaker 3: we're going to find out quickly with Tennessee this year
- 24:04Speaker 3: is that running game is maybe the best in the
- 24:07Speaker 3: SEC or one of the two or three best. I
- 24:10Speaker 3: think Deshaun Bishop is so steady. He is such a big,
- 24:14Speaker 3: powerful dude, but he's got some speed. I think Javen
- 24:17Speaker 3: Gordon is going to be a revelation there. when he
- 24:20Speaker 3: comes into the game because of his home run ability.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I think DeJuan Morris is pushing him right now. The
- 24:26Speaker 3: Oakland High School standout to be a backup also. Those
- 24:29Speaker 3: three guys behind that veteran offensive line, I've combined those
- 24:33Speaker 3: two together and I say, what do you feel best.
- 24:36Speaker 1: About this year? I think it's Tennessee's running game.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, let's add the third element of
- 24:40Speaker 3: Faison Brandon's legs in the run game also, which there's
- 24:43Speaker 3: going to be more design runs within the offense for him.
- 24:47Speaker 1: But I think it is linebacker. If I had to
- 24:49Speaker 1: pick one.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Just group, I think it's the depth of linebacker with T. Lander, Carter,
- 24:56Speaker 3: Edwin Spillman. I mean, they got a lot of dudes
- 24:58Speaker 3: coming back who've played a lot of football that you
- 25:01Speaker 3: feel really good about that position. Not to mention Braden
- 25:04Speaker 3: Rouse and T.J. White, two freshmen that are terrific that
- 25:08Speaker 3: in most years probably both could start for Tennessee at linebacker,
- 25:12Speaker 3: but they're just so deep with veterans. And they're still
- 25:15Speaker 3: going to be rotational guys. And I would say, can
- 25:17Speaker 3: they generate pass rush?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Can this defense find a pass rush, which has eluded
- 25:22Speaker 1: them in past years to the point where I'm talking
- 25:25Speaker 1: about consistency, where you need a good stop, you find
- 25:29Speaker 1: a good stop. Can they find that with these guys?
- 25:32Speaker 1: I don't know how they don't with the skill set
- 25:34Speaker 1: that these guys have, with T. Lander, with Carter, and others.
- 25:39Speaker 1: If you're the defensive coordinator, how can you not manufacture
- 25:41Speaker 1: a pass rush?
- 25:43Speaker 3: I think the big key is Communication on defense with
- 25:46Speaker 3: Jim Knowles' defense and what he's trying to do. And
- 25:49Speaker 3: how quickly can they get to 70% of the playbook
- 25:52Speaker 3: on defense? I would say they're probably at 55% or 60%
- 25:56Speaker 3: of what they want.
- 25:57Speaker 1: To do right now.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Can you get to 70% by Auburn, by that game,
- 26:03Speaker 3: let's say? Even past Georgia Tech, you've got to win
- 26:06Speaker 3: Georgia Tech at all costs. It's one of those games
- 26:08Speaker 3: that however you get it done, just don't get it
- 26:11Speaker 3: done on the road. But then can you... gear up
- 26:14Speaker 3: against Kennesaw State, and then get to 70%, 75% of
- 26:18Speaker 3: the playbook available by Auburn. That, to me, is a
- 26:22Speaker 3: big key for this team. But you've got to master
- 26:24Speaker 3: the basics first. Hey, we're in this set. This is
- 26:27Speaker 3: what we're looking at. We've got to be in position
- 26:29Speaker 3: to make a play because we've got some dudes on defense,
- 26:32Speaker 3: but we can't have miscommunication. We can't have busts in
- 26:35Speaker 3: the back end. You can't get too cute too early
- 26:37Speaker 3: in the season. To me, that's something I'm going to
- 26:40Speaker 3: be following, just like everybody's going to be watching Faison Brandon.
- 26:43Speaker 3: in his first start against Furman. How does he run tempo?
- 26:46Speaker 3: How does he master the offense? How does he read pre-snap, post-snap?
- 26:50Speaker 3: Because Josh Heupel has a lot of the quarterback in
- 26:53Speaker 3: his offense. I mean, there's a lot of quick pre-snap
- 26:56Speaker 3: reads where he's shifting to something else or doing something
- 26:59Speaker 3: else based on what he's seeing. How good are Faison
- 27:02Speaker 3: Brandon's eyes? How good are Jim Knoll's adjustments? That's something
- 27:07Speaker 3: I'm watching early. If they can get up to speed quickly...
- 27:10Speaker 3: I think this Tennessee defense, again, they were 96th in
- 27:13Speaker 3: the country a year ago in overall defense.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Terrible.
- 27:16Speaker 3: After having a top 10 defense the year before in 2024.
- 27:20Speaker 3: If they can become a top 30 defense by season's end,
- 27:25Speaker 3: I think Tennessee is going to be knocking on the
- 27:27Speaker 3: door of a playoff spot.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Coming up, the SEC takes on Lane Trade next. It's
- 27:34Speaker 1: not perfect 8 or perfect 9, it's perfect 10. Perfect

- 30:02Speaker 1: I had the one little internet.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Glitch, and I'm like, I've been fighting for this for
- 30:06Speaker 3: four whole days. Four whole days it took to get
- 30:10Speaker 3: the podcast up. I mean, we've only been a show

- 30:58Speaker 1: How about Leslie on social? I was married for 26
- 31:02Speaker 1: years and my husband never had coffee. So until such
- 31:05Speaker 1: time as you have proof of someone doing something or not,
- 31:08Speaker 1: probably nice idea to not call someone a liar. Leslie,
- 31:12Speaker 1: I'm going to call your husband and Tom Brady a liar. No. Oh,
- 31:15Speaker 1: your husband's a liar.
- 31:16Speaker 2: All right. He's lying to you.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Hate to break it to you, honey. He's never had
- 31:24Speaker 1: coffee for 26 years.
- 31:25Speaker 3: No. You know, catfish Jake says he's never tasted coffee.
- 31:29Speaker 3: In his life also in the chat. He said, funny enough,
- 31:31Speaker 3: also never had coffee.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I think Jake says he's never tasted coffee. He's never
- 31:35Speaker 1: tried coffee. Like, look, if you're like Mormon. When I
- 31:39Speaker 1: say had, not like, okay, this woman is saying that
- 31:42Speaker 1: in 26 years of marriage, her husband has never had coffee.
- 31:45Speaker 1: That doesn't mean that he hasn't tried coffee.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Right?
- 31:48Speaker 1: Like, it just means he hasn't had coffee within 26
- 31:51Speaker 1: years of marriage.
- 31:51Speaker 3: I'm sure she thinks she knows everything about her husband, too,
- 31:54Speaker 3: his entire life. I know every second of my husband's life,
- 31:57Speaker 3: from birth, through middle school, through high school, through college.
- 32:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Leslie. How dare we call Tom Brady a liar?
- 32:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 1: How dare we? Come on. How dare we? He's not Christ.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Come on.
- 32:12Speaker 2: I know that he eats like Christ, but he's not.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:16Speaker 3: In terms of what he consumes. Even Jesus had wine, though.
- 32:19Speaker 3: And Tom Brady doesn't even do that.
- 32:22Speaker 2: He does the tequila, though.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Yeah, he's definitely partaking. He's imbibed.
- 32:28Speaker 2: That's for sure. Yes, he's imbibed. That's a good word, imbibed.
- 32:31Speaker 2: We need to use the word imbibed more often.
- 32:33Speaker 1: He's imbibed.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Chad, coming up later, are we going to do primary
- 32:36Speaker 3: complaints since it's Wednesday? Mark Herman in the chat says,
- 32:40Speaker 3: it takes real balls to call Brady a liar. That's
- 32:43Speaker 3: what we have on this show, balls.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Liar.
- 32:46Speaker 3: We have national balls on this show. That's what we're
- 32:48Speaker 3: going to be talking about later. Chad, are we doing
- 32:51Speaker 3: primary complaint today? I can come up with a primary complaint.
- 32:54Speaker 3: I'm sure I can do something later on in the show.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yeah, let's do one later in the show.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Let's do one around 8.15 or 9.15 or 9.30 Eastern Time.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Sure. We can do a primary complaint.
- 33:05Speaker 3: I bet JT can come up with a primary complaint, too.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Absolutely. We haven't done this in so long. Leslie. Leslie's
- 33:11Speaker 1: one of them.
- 33:15Speaker 3: I've got a number of them on social media just
- 33:18Speaker 3: this week alone that I could point to as a
- 33:20Speaker 3: primary complaint.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Doug Stern, never had coffee in my life. Many people
- 33:26Speaker 1: I know have not. I'm sorry. I've never met anyone
- 33:30Speaker 1: who hasn't tried coffee. It's okay if you don't drink coffee,
- 33:34Speaker 1: but you've at least tried it to know you don't
- 33:36Speaker 1: like it.
- 33:36Speaker 3: How did we tap into the anti-coffee lobby so quickly?
- 33:40Speaker 3: Why are people so passionate about not doing something?
- 33:46Speaker 1: Doug says, it's bad for you. Why would I put
- 33:48Speaker 1: it into me? I'm just saying a lot of people
- 33:51Speaker 1: have tried coffee.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Doug's not going to put that one in the temple, huh? Lord.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Put coffee in? It's too much. It's a bridge too far, coffee.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Can't do it.
- 34:03Speaker 3: I don't understand anybody who's passionate about not believing in something.
- 34:09Speaker 3: If you haven't had coffee, whatever. I just don't like
- 34:11Speaker 3: the taste. Everyone's tried coffee. Didn't like it. Most people,
- 34:15Speaker 3: I tried it, didn't like it. I'd rather have a
- 34:16Speaker 3: Red Bull or Mountain Dew for caffeine or whatever.
- 34:19Speaker 1: It's fine.
- 34:20Speaker 3: I'm totally okay with that. But to claim you've never
- 34:22Speaker 3: tried coffee... is ridiculous and also to be passionate about
- 34:27Speaker 3: not having coffee like this is one of the things
- 34:29Speaker 3: I have never had it when you meet your maker
- 34:32Speaker 3: like Dolly Parton did yesterday And they talk about you
- 34:35Speaker 3: as a person. Are they going to say, you know,
- 34:39Speaker 3: Ricky was a really good guy.
- 34:41Speaker 2: And Ricky did a lot of.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Things really well.
- 34:43Speaker 3: He was a great family man. He was a great
- 34:46Speaker 3: father to his kids. He was a great son. And
- 34:49Speaker 3: by God, the guy never touched coffee his entire life.
- 34:52Speaker 3: And he stuck to.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Those principles of not drinking coffee.
- 34:55Speaker 3: He was anti-coffee from the cradle to the grave. And
- 34:59Speaker 3: that's how we will remember Ricky today. is that Ricky
- 35:02Speaker 3: never took a sip of coffee.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I feel the same way about that as I do atheists.
- 35:07Speaker 3: When you're passionately against not believing something, I don't understand
- 35:11Speaker 3: where that passion comes from. You're passionately atheist, so you
- 35:15Speaker 3: passionately don't believe there's a God or.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Anything going on.
- 35:18Speaker 3: How can you be passionate about that? You're passionate about disbelief.
- 35:23Speaker 3: I don't get it, Hutton.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I don't get it. So many primary complaints. Yeah, there's
- 35:27Speaker 1: Hutton and Withrow who tried coffee that desecrated their bodies.
- 35:33Speaker 3: I mean, you can take one look at me and say, yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 3: this is a guy who's probably desecrated his body at some.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Point in his life, and that's fine. It's certainly not
- 35:39Speaker 2: from the coffee.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I'm drinking right now. It's not because of the freaking coffee.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Especially if it's.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Crockett coffee, which I'm drinking, and it's delicious. More on
- 35:45Speaker 1: Crockett coffee later, for sure.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Is this the best Crockett coffee ad that's ever been done?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Is this conversation right now?
- 35:52Speaker 1: It's the ongoing Crockett coffee. It's the never-ending ad is
- 35:55Speaker 1: what this is, this entire show. It's the coffee ads.
- 36:00Speaker 1: If they put.
- 36:02Speaker 3: If they put something at the end of this show,
- 36:04Speaker 3: you know, in 20 years, hopefully when their shows, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 3: finally off air and they say they did a good job,
- 36:10Speaker 3: they did their best and boy, they took it to
- 36:12Speaker 3: the anti-coffee people every single day. They brought it to
- 36:15Speaker 3: them every single day.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I'd be like, great.
- 36:18Speaker 3: If that's the, if that's the war we're going to fight,
- 36:20Speaker 3: then we're going to win that war.
- 36:22Speaker 1: No, there's like, they, they did their best and man,
- 36:24Speaker 1: did they, did they, did they acknowledge and, Did they
- 36:29Speaker 1: unveil that Tom Brady is a liar?
- 36:32Speaker 3: AY on the YouTube chat says, didn't drink any coffee
- 36:37Speaker 3: or any caffeine for five years. Coffee drinkers are the
- 36:40Speaker 3: only legitimate adults and they get things done. So he
- 36:43Speaker 3: went back to drinking coffee. Feslove says, I drink more
- 36:47Speaker 3: Diet Coke and I don't drink coffee, but I enjoy the.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Smell and taste. Feslove has absolutely tried coffee. My whole
- 36:55Speaker 1: thing is you have tried it in your life. It's
- 36:58Speaker 1: not about not drinking it. It's about having tried it ever.
- 37:01Speaker 1: And Tom Brady claims he's never tried coffee. Not that
- 37:04Speaker 1: he doesn't drink it. I don't think he drinks it
- 37:06Speaker 1: right now. But he's tried it. That man has tried coffee.
- 37:10Speaker 3: My daughter is 11 and drinks coffee every morning.
- 37:13Speaker 1: So is this gentleman who's been married for 26 years
- 37:15Speaker 1: that has his wife taking up for him on social media.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I really don't want to break married couples up. That's
- 37:20Speaker 2: not the goal of this show.
- 37:22Speaker 3: But I would kind of find it a little bit
- 37:24Speaker 3: humorous if this started a big fight. Between husband and wife,
- 37:28Speaker 3: he's like, no, honey, actually, I've been drinking coffee every
- 37:30Speaker 3: day at work. I leave you and I drink coffee
- 37:33Speaker 3: once I get to the work. They've got great coffee there.
- 37:35Speaker 3: They've got a Crockett coffee subscription.
- 37:38Speaker 2: I love the mushroom blend.
- 37:40Speaker 3: That's my favorite. I've been drinking mushroom coffee for years now.
- 37:45Speaker 3: How dare you call someone a liar?
- 37:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:48Speaker 2: How dare you attack Tom Brady this way?
- 37:51Speaker 1: Oh, so good. Okay. So, Chad, we've got the Big
- 37:56Speaker 1: Ten that comes out and says, you know what, as
- 37:58Speaker 1: a conference, we're not going to be accepting NFL players
- 38:01Speaker 1: back into college football. I laugh because it sounds so stupid.
- 38:06Speaker 1: We're not going to accept NFL players back into college football. And, well,
- 38:10Speaker 1: that was just prior to the SEC going all in
- 38:15Speaker 1: against Lane Kiffin, something we didn't necessarily think we would see.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I will say, though, the Big Ten coming through, with
- 38:24Speaker 1: a door slammed, whereas I feel.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Like the SEC just shut the door. Big Ten's slamming
- 38:29Speaker 2: the door shut.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Well, so here's my thesis on this, okay? And we're
- 38:38Speaker 3: going to get into all facets of all of this.
- 38:40Speaker 3: I'm very intrigued about finally Greg Sankey just stops talking
- 38:45Speaker 3: and started acting against Lane Kiffin because Lane Kiffin is
- 38:48Speaker 3: his nemesis. In terms of SEC coaches. So he's struck back.
- 38:52Speaker 3: The empire strikes back. And the empire is the SEC
- 38:55Speaker 3: right now. But Hutton, my argument is this. I don't
- 38:58Speaker 3: think the SEC does a damn thing if the Big
- 39:02Speaker 3: Ten doesn't come out so strong against this. Because the
- 39:05Speaker 3: first statement that we talked about yesterday, we showed that
- 39:08Speaker 3: statement yesterday. The statement from the SEC was essentially, we
- 39:12Speaker 3: hate it. It's against the rules. We don't like it.
- 39:16Speaker 3: But we need Congress to act. This is another example
- 39:20Speaker 3: of the Protect College Sports Act needing to be passed, right?
- 39:23Speaker 1: That was the SEC's initial statement.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Then while we're on air yesterday, we start to get
- 39:27Speaker 3: word from Pete Thamel and others reporting. the Big Ten
- 39:30Speaker 3: is about to release a statement and a rule saying
- 39:33Speaker 3: you are not welcome here.
- 39:35Speaker 1: If you signed an.
- 39:36Speaker 3: NFL contract or you were in a training camp, you
- 39:38Speaker 3: cannot come to the Big Ten. And what did I
- 39:40Speaker 3: say yesterday? This is a win for the Big Ten
- 39:43Speaker 3: in public perception. They look stronger and They look like
- 39:46Speaker 3: they have some balls on this. They're going to be
- 39:49Speaker 3: lauded by every college football media person. They're going to
- 39:52Speaker 3: be praised by everyone in the sport for doing.
- 39:55Speaker 2: The right thing.
- 39:56Speaker 3: I think the SEC and Greg Sankey, they weren't going
- 39:59Speaker 3: to do a damn thing until that happened. And once
- 40:02Speaker 3: they saw the Big Ten getting all the love, and boy,
- 40:04Speaker 3: the Big Ten's got backbone. The Big Ten has this.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Sankey said, emergency meeting. Let's get all 16 presidents together,
- 40:12Speaker 3: and I'm going to lay out the reason why this
- 40:14Speaker 3: cannot happen. They said originally 14 or 15.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Were all on board.
- 40:20Speaker 3: There was one holdout, and of course LSU was the
- 40:23Speaker 3: one wanting to allow it. And by the end of
- 40:25Speaker 3: that meeting, Greg Sankey rallied the troops. He united the
- 40:29Speaker 3: clans like William Wallace and Braveheart, and he got a
- 40:33Speaker 3: 16-0 vote against Lane Kiffin, and LSU and for the
- 40:38Speaker 3: SEC in a fight.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Against the Big Ten.
- 40:41Speaker 3: None of this happens if the Big Ten doesn't release
- 40:44Speaker 3: that statement and say it's not allowed here.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I truly believe that.
- 40:48Speaker 3: I think that they were waiting on somebody to blink,
- 40:50Speaker 3: and when they saw the Big Ten actually had bigger
- 40:52Speaker 3: balls than them, they decided, okay, we better do something now,
- 40:57Speaker 3: and we're going to stop it. And that's what they did. So, again,
- 41:00Speaker 3: I don't think– I'm going to give the SEC credit
- 41:02Speaker 3: for doing it regardless– But I think they only did
- 41:05Speaker 3: the right thing because the Big Ten did the right thing.
- 41:08Speaker 1: So how does LSU end up playing these guys? That
- 41:11Speaker 1: would be my next question.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Well, if they're going to just do a monetary fine,
- 41:17Speaker 3: I don't know what the penalties are. They haven't said
- 41:19Speaker 3: you're ineligible, you can't win an SEC title, you're disqualified
- 41:23Speaker 3: from the college football playoff.
- 41:24Speaker 1: If any of those things happen, you're going to forfeit.
- 41:27Speaker 3: You can't play for an SEC title, you're not in contention,
- 41:31Speaker 3: or you can't play in the playoff.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Then they won't do it. They'd be stupid to try
- 41:34Speaker 1: to fight.
- 41:35Speaker 3: You don't want to get in a legal battle all
- 41:37Speaker 3: year in hopes that you get something in your favor
- 41:39Speaker 3: only to play a season. Let's say they go 12-0,
- 41:42Speaker 3: and then they find out the week of Atlanta, actually
- 41:46Speaker 3: the court said the SEC's right to do what they're doing.
- 41:49Speaker 3: That would be a problem for LSU. I don't think
- 41:50Speaker 3: they're going to do that. But here's the big disclaimer.
- 41:53Speaker 1: What if it's just a.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Fine, and they have to pay the SEC something Does
- 41:58Speaker 3: the university actually do it?
- 42:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they play them. Remember Bobby Boucher?
- 42:03Speaker 2: What's money?
- 42:04Speaker 1: Remember their governor, Bobby Boucher?
- 42:05Speaker 3: Remember the guy, Jeff Landry or whatever, the guy that
- 42:08Speaker 3: sounds like Bobby Boucher, Adam Sandler and Waterboy? Remember all
- 42:12Speaker 3: the financial problems he had with them paying the buyout
- 42:16Speaker 3: to terrible Brian Kelly?
- 42:19Speaker 1: Those coaches' salaries. Those dudes are going to.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Sign off the moment they say, oh, $ 2 million?
- 42:24Speaker 3: Yes. To play these three players? Okay, yeah, we'll do that.
- 42:28Speaker 3: We'll do that for you, Coach Lane. Whatever you need, sir.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Whatever you need. It better not be a fine.
- 42:33Speaker 1: That's my point. No, it's got to be more than that.
- 42:35Speaker 1: It's got to be a penalty with some teeth to it.
- 42:37Speaker 1: It's got to be more than that if Aaron Carter
- 42:38Speaker 1: is getting suspended for a game.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Totally agree.
- 42:41Speaker 1: You know? Stay tuned. More coming on this discussion. Plus,
- 42:46Speaker 1: just around the corner, we do have primary complaint. If
- 42:48Speaker 1: you're new to the show, we're going to give you
- 42:50Speaker 1: a great example of what that is each Wednesday.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Next.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Putney Withrow, we are presented by Hard Rock Law. Accidents
- 42:56Speaker 1: don't wait for good timing. One bad moment, a wreck,
- 43:00Speaker 1: a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention. Suddenly, you're
- 43:03Speaker 1: fighting an insurance company that does this every single day.
- 43:05Speaker 1: And that's why Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a
- 43:09Speaker 1: Vanderbilt Law grad. He built a firm around one idea.
- 43:12Speaker 1: People deserve someone willing to pay attention, ask the hard questions,
- 43:15Speaker 1: and push back when things don't add up. Experience trial
- 43:18Speaker 1: attorneys who bring the fight to corporations and insurers. based

- 43:28Speaker 3: product liability. If you were wrong, they want to hear
- 43:31Speaker 3: about it. Here's what they promise.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Honesty.
- 43:33Speaker 3: They don't sugarcoat your case. You'll hear what it's actually worth,
- 43:36Speaker 3: not what you want to hear. The case evaluation is free,
- 43:39Speaker 3: no charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell them your story.
- 43:42Speaker 3: Go to claytravislaw.com or call 877-222-4444.
- 43:44Speaker 2: That's claytravislaw.com.
- 43:45Speaker 1: No case is too big or too small. Chad, let
- 43:52Speaker 1: me ask you this. Do you think Ole Miss was
- 43:54Speaker 1: prepared to do exactly what LSU was doing had Kiffin
- 43:57Speaker 1: decided to stay? Because I don't want to hear a
- 44:00Speaker 1: damn thing from them if they were. Yeah, I mean, absolutely.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Now, I will give them– look, he left, so they
- 44:08Speaker 3: can say whatever they want about Lane Kiffin now.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Oh, but they were begging for him to stay. Yeah, right.
- 44:13Speaker 3: But, I mean, here's what I would say. Ole Miss aside,
- 44:16Speaker 3: like Ole Miss was the scorned lover here. So they
- 44:19Speaker 3: can say whatever– they're allowed to say whatever they want
- 44:21Speaker 3: about Lane Kiffin.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Whatever they want. Pete Golding wasn't trying to bring him on.
- 44:25Speaker 3: You know, like Lane Kiffin– I mean, Lane Kiffin lies
- 44:29Speaker 3: so much so easily. He's on McAfee yesterday. I'm watching
- 44:33Speaker 3: it after our show ends. And he says on there,
- 44:36Speaker 3: he's like, well, I know that– and he's just so
- 44:39Speaker 3: nonchalant about it. He's like, I know for a fact
- 44:41Speaker 3: that Ole Miss has been reaching out and they were
- 44:44Speaker 3: going to try to add some of these guys in this.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Just as plain as can be. And they come out
- 44:48Speaker 3: and they're like, no, it's not true. All the Ole
- 44:51Speaker 3: Miss reporters and everybody else in college was like, we've
- 44:54Speaker 3: reached out. And even the players said Ole Miss was
- 44:56Speaker 3: not trying to do anything. In fact, it was Lane
- 44:58Speaker 3: Kiffin and LSU staff members helping them facilitate the lawsuit
- 45:03Speaker 3: that started all of this to come back. So, look,
- 45:06Speaker 3: I don't want to hear from Lane Kiffin about it.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Here's what I would say. Anybody who employs Lane Kiffin
- 45:12Speaker 3: will talk themselves into trusting and believing Lane Kiffin.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Because he wins games.
- 45:18Speaker 3: So if you're any fan base, if this was Arkansas
- 45:21Speaker 3: or Vanderbilt or Tennessee who defended Lane Kiffin that every
- 45:25Speaker 3: turn when he was there in 2009 because it's your guy.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Then you're going to defend him. Well, he wins. He
- 45:31Speaker 1: wins enough games.
- 45:32Speaker 3: This feels like Ole Miss fans defended Lane Kiffin no
- 45:35Speaker 3: matter what the whole time he was there until he left, right?
- 45:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's going to be the same way with LSU.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I would say Kiffin wins enough games. Now he's got
- 45:43Speaker 1: to win games at LSU, right? He's got to win
- 45:47Speaker 1: a national title.
- 45:48Speaker 2: That's right.
- 45:50Speaker 1: You can be 4-0 or 5-0 or whatever the record
- 45:53Speaker 1: was whenever we went. I call it going to church
- 45:55Speaker 1: down in Tuscaloosa, but we went to Bryant-Denny Stadium and
- 45:58Speaker 1: watched them get their asses kicked. I forgot what week
- 46:03Speaker 1: it was. It was the end of September. And, Chad,
- 46:06Speaker 1: it was Alabama, though, that they lost to. But Lane
- 46:10Speaker 1: Kiffin won games. Now he's got to win national championships.
- 46:14Speaker 3: It's the only marker of success for this gig at
- 46:17Speaker 3: LSU with him. I mean, Les Miles won a natty there.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Ed Orgeron won a natty there. He's got to win
- 46:23Speaker 3: a national title, and he needs to do it quickly.
- 46:26Speaker 3: This is not a six-year build to.
- 46:29Speaker 2: A national title.
- 46:30Speaker 3: He needs to win a national title within the first
- 46:32Speaker 3: two or three seasons at LSU. If it's not this year,
- 46:35Speaker 3: then it's next year. Look, that's a big ask for
- 46:39Speaker 3: anyone taking over any program, even one.
- 46:41Speaker 4: As good as LSU.
- 46:42Speaker 3: But if you were going to do this, if your
- 46:45Speaker 3: whole thing is win at all costs, if you're going
- 46:47Speaker 3: to go to the lengths of contacting NFL players to
- 46:52Speaker 3: get them to petition a lawsuit, to get them eligible
- 46:55Speaker 3: to come back to play for you, and you're going
- 46:58Speaker 3: to look this bad in doing it, where the SEC
- 47:01Speaker 3: has to release this statement, which they did last night
- 47:06Speaker 3: on their new rule that they have for things like this,
- 47:09Speaker 3: Following meetings of the presidents, chancellors, and athletic directors at
- 47:12Speaker 3: the Southeastern Conference, the SEC will enforce the following policy.
- 47:16Speaker 3: An SEC institution is not permitted to have an athlete
- 47:18Speaker 3: on its roster who has, one, previously declared for the NFL, NBA,
- 47:23Speaker 3: or WNBA draft, sorry ladies, and did not appropriately withdraw, two,
- 47:28Speaker 3: signed a contract with an NFL or professional football league,
- 47:31Speaker 3: NBA G League, or WNBA or affiliated team, or three,
- 47:36Speaker 3: been listed on an NFL or other professional football league,
- 47:39Speaker 3: NBA G League or WNBA or affiliate roster. The commissioner
- 47:43Speaker 3: is authorized to enforce this expectation with penalties against member institutions.
- 47:48Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin did this. I don't want to put the
- 47:52Speaker 3: blame anywhere else right now based on the knowledge that
- 47:54Speaker 3: we have. This was Lane Kiffin's doing. No one else
- 47:58Speaker 3: has committed anywhere else. A former Notre Dame player that
- 48:01Speaker 3: was in the NFL has committed to LSU. Former Ole
- 48:04Speaker 3: Miss tight end and defensive lineman.
- 48:06Speaker 1: These are facts.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Those three players are the only three that had accepted
- 48:10Speaker 3: papers and were going to go back to college.
- 48:12Speaker 1: They were all going to.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Play for LSU. Now, there's a mystery SEC school involved
- 48:18Speaker 3: with the running back, T.J. Harden, from the Seahawks. Now,
- 48:21Speaker 3: that mystery team, we don't know. And also, it's not
- 48:24Speaker 3: going to happen because of this ruling from Greg Sankey.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Right, right, right.
- 48:29Speaker 3: This was all Lane Kiffin's doing. If you're looking for
- 48:31Speaker 3: a boogeyman or a big bad guy, I mean, when
- 48:34Speaker 3: it comes to this story right now, he appears to
- 48:36Speaker 3: be it.
- 48:37Speaker 1: I love how there's a mystery team. I want to
- 48:39Speaker 1: know the team that didn't want to put their name
- 48:40Speaker 1: behind it whenever Kiffin was putting their name behind his. Please.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Mystery team. Let me also, yes.
- 48:50Speaker 3: I saw this a lot last night, and I understand
- 48:52Speaker 3: college football reporters are just doing their job.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I saw Trey Wallace do this. I saw Ross Dellinger.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Go on.
- 48:58Speaker 1: I saw other college football reporters. Go on.
- 49:02Speaker 3: I am so tired of hearing from these damn attorneys.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Ryan Downton, oh gosh, the other guy that just chimes
- 49:11Speaker 3: in on everything. You know how Jay Billis just plays
- 49:15Speaker 3: one note that the players are always right and the
- 49:18Speaker 3: NCAA is always wrong?
- 49:19Speaker 1: Yes, yes. boring. It could be anything.
- 49:22Speaker 3: It always just goes back to, well, the NCAA is
- 49:24Speaker 3: ridiculous and hypocritical.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I get it.
- 49:27Speaker 3: We all understand that, but there are also times where
- 49:30Speaker 3: the player can be blamed for something. There are times
- 49:33Speaker 3: where a player screws up or is doing the wrong thing, too.
- 49:36Speaker 3: We have to look at it. through both lenses at times.
- 49:39Speaker 3: And when you're constantly playing one note, it gets pretty old.
- 49:42Speaker 3: I get so tired of hearing these damn attorneys play
- 49:45Speaker 3: the one note of. Ryan Downton, who filed the lawsuit,
- 49:49Speaker 3: says he's going to, we're going to challenge them.
- 49:50Speaker 1: They're in contempt of court, the SEC. No, they're not.
- 49:53Speaker 2: No, they're not.
- 49:55Speaker 3: A thousand other attorneys, the head of the University of
- 49:58Speaker 3: Tennessee Law School, I saw reposted and says, this is
- 50:02Speaker 3: what happens when you take legal advice from Lane Kiffin.
- 50:06Speaker 3: There is nothing in this injunction or this TRO stating
- 50:10Speaker 3: that individual conferences or leagues can have their own rules.
- 50:14Speaker 3: All it states is that the NCAA cannot rule them ineligible.
- 50:19Speaker 3: So the NCAA can say you're eligible, but if no
- 50:23Speaker 3: conference allows it, you can't play.
- 50:26Speaker 2: And hey, man, that's tough cookies. Sorry, Ryan Dowd and
- 50:28Speaker 2: everyone else.
- 50:29Speaker 3: You can sit there and bitch and moan all you
- 50:30Speaker 3: want and file as many cases as you want that
- 50:33Speaker 3: ties up our legal system even more. We can't even
- 50:36Speaker 3: try murder quickly in this country because of you. I
- 50:39Speaker 3: get so tired of hearing. Just stop giving them breath.
- 50:44Speaker 3: Let's make this right now. I don't care to have.
- 50:47Speaker 1: They're the only ones that pick up the phone, Chad.
- 50:49Speaker 3: In stories like this, I don't care to have these
- 50:52Speaker 3: attorneys because I know exactly what they're going to say.
- 50:55Speaker 1: There's going to be no nuance to it.
- 50:57Speaker 3: I understand they're paid to defend their clients, but you
- 50:59Speaker 3: should also say factually correct things. There is nothing preventing
- 51:03Speaker 3: the SEC and the Big Ten from doing this, as
- 51:05Speaker 3: far as I've seen. Now, there is something preventing the
- 51:08Speaker 3: NCAA from doing it. It doesn't say they have to
- 51:11Speaker 3: play for this team. It's saying they have to be
- 51:14Speaker 3: eligible by NCAA rules. That's what the TRO states. Not
- 51:19Speaker 3: that the SEC or the Big Ten has to admit them. Hey, man,
- 51:22Speaker 3: have fun going and playing at San Jose State.
- 51:25Speaker 1: If they allow it. Let's see how much money you
- 51:28Speaker 1: can get from them.
- 51:29Speaker 3: I mean, the perfect ending to all this is that
- 51:32Speaker 3: Ryan Downton and whatever attorneys represent these dudes, and these
- 51:35Speaker 3: dudes who are begging to get cut from their NFL roster,
- 51:39Speaker 3: the perfect ending is that they all have to go
- 51:41Speaker 3: play at Idaho, and they make about $ 20, 000 a year.
- 51:44Speaker 1: They're going to go play at the barn. Right. The
- 51:47Speaker 1: big dome. The small dome. Enjoy your coupons you're going
- 51:50Speaker 1: to get.
- 51:54Speaker 3: You can go play at Central Michigan, and we'll give
- 51:57Speaker 3: you a bunch of Starbucks gift cards to go play there.
- 52:01Speaker 1: That's how this story should end. And there it is
- 52:04Speaker 1: going back to coffee right there. It all goes back.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Why did I say Starbucks? I meant Crockett Coffee.
- 52:11Speaker 3: DCA, by the way, as I limp rest this thing
- 52:13Speaker 3: again to show you DCA. It goes back to Crockett.
- 52:17Speaker 3: They're going to get free Crockett subscriptions. That's what's going
- 52:20Speaker 3: to happen. That should be Clay's consolation prize, these dudes,
- 52:23Speaker 3: when they can't play in the SEC or Big Ten
- 52:25Speaker 3: and they can't make any money.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely it should. It should be the consolation. Chad,
- 52:32Speaker 1: we should let people know, now that it's just past
- 52:36Speaker 1: 9 o'clock Eastern, a couple of things. We're on podcast.
- 52:40Speaker 1: We have podcasts available. Subscribe wherever you download your podcast.
- 52:44Speaker 1: You can find Hutton and Withrow. Chad, how did you differentiate?
- 52:47Speaker 1: You said you wanted to be very specific about how
- 52:49Speaker 1: you found the show because of other imposters.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Well, yeah, just that's why I'm saying this. Like if
- 52:56Speaker 3: you search Hutton and Withrow right now, a thousand things
- 52:59Speaker 3: might turn up. And the first thing that turns up
- 53:02Speaker 3: is not our current show.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Imposters.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Because I've got people like, oh, I found you guys.
- 53:06Speaker 3: I'm like, not us. Go look at the dates on
- 53:09Speaker 3: that bad boy. You're going to see the last entry
- 53:11Speaker 3: sometime around May on that one. So that's definitely on us.
- 53:15Speaker 3: You need to look for the one that's in August
- 53:16Speaker 3: with the latest entry. The beautiful logo that you can
- 53:21Speaker 3: see if you zoom in behind me here on that one,
- 53:24Speaker 3: the circular Hutton and Withrow show logo. You can see
- 53:27Speaker 3: it great on Hutton's big screen behind him.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Look at that. It's gorgeous. That's what you're looking for.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Almost as gorgeous as Hutton. Look at that.
- 53:33Speaker 2: So find us there.
- 53:34Speaker 3: If you have a hard time finding us, I will
- 53:37Speaker 3: personally send you what you need. You can message us,

- 53:55Speaker 3: the one place you can get us live right now.
- 53:57Speaker 3: I think that we're now streaming on Facebook live as well.
- 54:00Speaker 3: We'll soon be streaming on X. Hutton, we want to
- 54:03Speaker 3: be wherever you are, wherever our consumer, our audience is.
- 54:08Speaker 1: We want to go to you.
- 54:09Speaker 3: So hit me up, and I'll get you a link
- 54:11Speaker 3: to that podcast page so we can make sure you

- 54:15Speaker 1: We also have nine spots available in our Fantasy Football League.
- 54:18Speaker 1: This has been a hit year after year. We wanted
- 54:21Speaker 1: to roll it over and bring it back. If you
- 54:22Speaker 1: want in to the Hutton & Withrow Fantasy Football League,
- 54:26Speaker 1: we hope that you'll chime in. Hit us up on social.
- 54:29Speaker 1: However you can contact us, let us know. Like, there's
- 54:31Speaker 1: a fake Tony Basilio, Chad. I think we should have
- 54:38Speaker 1: the faux Tony Basilio on the fantasy football league. I
- 54:43Speaker 1: think we.
- 54:44Speaker 3: Should just have one fantasy league of nothing but parody accounts.
- 54:47Speaker 3: The faces behind it. Dick West.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Richard G. West.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Richard G.
- 54:53Speaker 1: West. If we can expose Richard G.
- 54:55Speaker 3: West in Knoxville who has all the fake Tennessee dudes, which,
- 54:57Speaker 3: by the way, he immediately had a Dolly Parton sticker.
- 55:00Speaker 3: that the Tennessee team's going to wear all year, that
- 55:02Speaker 3: everyone's running with, saying, boy, I hope this is real.
- 55:05Speaker 2: And I'm like, that's Richard G. West.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Definitely not real. We need all the fake accounts to
- 55:09Speaker 1: join us. Also, Brooks has just sent us the updated
- 55:12Speaker 1: Mount Rushmore of greatest Tennesseans. And I will say, and
- 55:16Speaker 1: by the way, we can keep this. I'm not complaining.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Elvis Presley looks like a woman, though, in this photo.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I mean, it kind of looks like Elvis Presley, though.
- 55:23Speaker 1: He definitely had hair like that.
- 55:24Speaker 2: I think Elvis Presley looks like a woman.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean, that looks like Elvis Presley to me.
- 55:30Speaker 3: So then you're saying Elvis Presley looks like a woman.
- 55:32Speaker 1: It looks like a Golden Girls hairdo.
- 55:36Speaker 3: It's a nice poof, for sure.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Pat Summitt, I don't know. Pat Summitt looks a little
- 55:41Speaker 1: AI to me. I think it looks good. I'm good
- 55:47Speaker 1: with it. I think it looks good. The only person
- 55:49Speaker 1: that looks identical is.
- 55:50Speaker 3: I don't know why you're hating on our guy Brooks
- 55:51Speaker 3: so much over there.
- 55:52Speaker 1: I'm not hating on Brooks. I think it looks good.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I'd say we're keeping it. I was just saying, I
- 55:57Speaker 1: think it looks like a... I was like, oh, who
- 56:00Speaker 1: is this older woman with a short haircut? Oh, that's
- 56:03Speaker 1: Elvis Presley. I mean, Elvis, though, is a very effeminate-looking man.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Let's be honest. Like, baby face, kind of girlish, pretty features.
- 56:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 56:12Speaker 1: He was sort of known for that.
- 56:14Speaker 3: He's not the most masculine-looking dude. He's not saying that
- 56:18Speaker 3: he wasn't masculine. I'm just saying, face-wise, he wasn't the
- 56:21Speaker 3: most masculine-looking guy.
- 56:24Speaker 1: He doesn't look like Dave Grohl. It's a.
- 56:28Speaker 2: Little different than that. Chad, you, you have been to
- 56:31Speaker 2: Mount Rushmore.
- 56:33Speaker 1: I have indeed. You, uh, you, you swear by it.
- 56:36Speaker 1: You say everyone should go at least one time.
- 56:39Speaker 2: It's very difficult to get to Mount Rushmore.
- 56:41Speaker 3: Uh, it's not, there's not a huge airport close by,
- 56:44Speaker 3: you know, you can fly into rapid city.
- 56:45Speaker 1: I don't know how big, how many flights get.
- 56:47Speaker 3: There daily, but, um, we drove from, uh, my in-laws
- 56:51Speaker 3: farm in Northeast Nebraska, uh, and went northwest about a
- 56:55Speaker 3: six-hour drive to go up to the Black Hills of
- 56:58Speaker 3: South Dakota to go to Mount Rushmore.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Very cool to see.
- 57:01Speaker 3: They've got like a theater there you can go and
- 57:03Speaker 3: every 20 minutes they have a documentary on the story
- 57:06Speaker 3: of Mount Rushmore.
- 57:07Speaker 1: And the making of it.
- 57:09Speaker 3: It's a very cool experience and it's a beautiful part
- 57:12Speaker 3: of the country if you ever get to go to
- 57:14Speaker 3: the Black Hills.
- 57:15Speaker 1: And the mountains around Mount Rushmore. Very, very neat. The
- 57:18Speaker 1: Black Hills. Lakes all around it.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Just random bodies of water around the mountains.
- 57:23Speaker 1: It's really cool. But the Black Hills doesn't sound like
- 57:25Speaker 1: a place I want to visit, though. Hey, you want
- 57:27Speaker 1: to go to the Black Hills?
- 57:28Speaker 3: No. No. It sounds like terror to me. And to
- 57:32Speaker 3: get there, you go through the Badlands. So you literally
- 57:36Speaker 3: go through the Badlands... which I went to the Badlands
- 57:39Speaker 3: National Park and took some pictures, which is, I mean,
- 57:41Speaker 3: it looks like.
- 57:41Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sure it's beautiful, but I'm not trying to
- 57:43Speaker 1: knock it. Well, I don't know. I mean, it's cool.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Again, it looks like a different planet when you're in
- 57:48Speaker 3: the Badlands, and then you go up to... There's not
- 57:51Speaker 3: a lot going on in South Dakota. Let's just put
- 57:53Speaker 3: it that way. There's a lot of available real estate
- 57:56Speaker 3: if people want it. Cool state to drive across, but
- 58:00Speaker 3: very flat in the east, and then you get into
- 58:02Speaker 3: the Badlands, the middle of the state, then you get
- 58:04Speaker 3: up into the mountains, the Black Hills.
- 58:06Speaker 1: in the.
- 58:06Speaker 3: Western portion of the state, but yeah, not a lot
- 58:08Speaker 3: going on. So who decided that this is where it
- 58:11Speaker 3: needed to be, the Mount Rushmore?
- 58:14Speaker 2: I've learned this in the documentary, actually.
- 58:17Speaker 3: The state of South Dakota, coming off the Great Depression,
- 58:21Speaker 3: they had tons of, just like a lot of states,
- 58:23Speaker 3: had a lot of financial issues. And they were looking
- 58:26Speaker 3: for tourism dollars. So they just started scouting land. There's
- 58:30Speaker 3: a whole history, too, with Native American tribes and that
- 58:33Speaker 3: mountain being sacred. they carved it out of. So like
- 58:35Speaker 3: when you're there, it's pretty cool. They have members of
- 58:39Speaker 3: the local tribe. I think it's the Lakotas, but they
- 58:41Speaker 3: have members of the local tribe that will like give
- 58:43Speaker 3: you a tour and tell you about the native history
- 58:46Speaker 3: of that land and how it's sacred and how now
- 58:48Speaker 3: they have a partnership, you know, with the, with the
- 58:51Speaker 3: U S government and with that. And they like people
- 58:54Speaker 3: going to experience the land that they find sacred and
- 58:57Speaker 3: everything else. But yeah, there was just, there's no one
- 59:00Speaker 3: in this part of the state.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Really?
- 59:02Speaker 3: Like we want to build up tourism. And when you
- 59:04Speaker 3: go up there, it's very Gatlinburg like, I mean, you're
- 59:08Speaker 3: going to have like towns with, you know, uh, helicopter
- 59:11Speaker 3: tours and zip lines and places for kids to go arcades,
- 59:17Speaker 3: you know, like there's a little part of the town that's,
- 59:19Speaker 3: that's sort of like that.
- 59:20Speaker 1: So it's, it's a neat experience.
- 59:22Speaker 3: I think if you've got kids, especially take them up
- 59:24Speaker 3: there and see it. And it's, it's a cool thing
- 59:26Speaker 3: to say that, that you've seen at least once in
- 59:28Speaker 3: your life.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Hey, coming up, primary complaint. We air our top grievance
- 59:33Speaker 1: of the week. If you're new to the show, we
- 59:35Speaker 1: give you a great example of what to expect each
- 59:37Speaker 1: week straight ahead right here on Hutton and Withrow. Chad,
- 59:40Speaker 1: there's a nice lady on social media that says, how
- 59:44Speaker 1: dare I call her husband a liar? How dare I
- 59:49Speaker 1: call her husband a liar? 26 years of marriage, he's
- 59:52Speaker 1: never had coffee. Ma'am, I'm here to tell you, that
- 59:55Speaker 1: gentleman has tried coffee. You know why?
- 59:57Speaker 2: Because there's Crockett coffee.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Crockett Coffee was started by Clay Travis, Buck Sexton, and
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Buck's brother Mason, named after Davy Crockett. David Crockett, hunter, storyteller, patriot,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: backwoods legend. Look at the logo, ma'am. Davy's surfing on
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: the backs of Crockett Owls. Of course your husband has
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: tried coffee. That tells you everything about the attitude here. 100%
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: pure Arabica, high altitude beans, small batch roasted right here
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: in America. in Tennessee, the heart of the country, and
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: it ships fresh roasted to your husband. Not sitting on
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: a warehouse shelf for six months. Light, medium, dark, decaf, organic,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: even a mushroom blend, whole bean, ground, or K-cups, however
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: you make it in the morning.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: And you can set up a subscription and it shows
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: up on your schedule, change it, cancel it, anytime you want,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: as the free market intended. Free shipping on orders of
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: $ 59 or more, and there's a discount for veterans only.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: And Crockett partners with Tunnels to Towers, building mortgage-free homes
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: for the families of fallen service members and for catastrophically
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: injured veterans and first responders. Good coffee, made in America,
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: doing some good. CrockettCoffee.com. That's Crockett, C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T, coffee.com. Crockett Coffee, delicious.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Apologies to Davy Crockett and Davy Crockett's remaining relatives that
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: we have now removed Davy Crockett from the Mount Rushmore
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: of the state of Tennessee in our latest graphic, which
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: you can see it has been replaced by Elvis and
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: Pat Summitt, out go General Nealon, and out go Davy Crockett.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: So I said, look, we fixed it based on a
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: lot of complaints, which is a perfect segue into primary
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: complaint today. So we'll let people, you know, we'll see
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: how many likes this gets or how many people get
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: pissed off that, Alvin C. York isn't there or whatever.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: James K.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Polk was another one that people wanted on the Mount Rushmore.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: We'll see how this one goes over.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: James K.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Polk.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: The president. Oh, I know former president, but I mean,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: just because he's a former president, what about.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Andrew Johnson? What about Andrew Johnson?
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Nobody's fighting for Andrew Johnson, one of the worst presidents
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: in the history of, maybe the worst president in the
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: history of our country.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: We should put on a fake We should put on
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: a fake version. Like, here we go. Here's the final version.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: And just have Andrew Johnson, James K.
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: Bolt.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: The final version is just 3-6 Mafia. Yes. Yes. Yes.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: And Elvis. Just see what people think. They're like, what?
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: And Elvis.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Haystack.
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: Just Tennessee-based rappers. Or we should do one of just
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: foreigners that moved here. I actually put Nicole Kidman and
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Keith Urban on the Mount Rushmore. Mount Rushmore of Tennessee
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: and two Australians will be the first two on the list.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Remember all the fake during COVID? We had all the
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: fake news reports of DiCaprio buying.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Up land in Smyrna. I helped Robert Downey Jr. change
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: a tire in Laverne. Those types of Facebook posts.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. They're still out there, I think. They still
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: get people.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: My 82-year-old father has probably been fooled by one of those. Hey,
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: did you see that Matt Damon was in Watertown last
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: week at the drive-in?
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: No, I don't think.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Odysseus was checking out one of the drive-ins in Watertown.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Sorry. The star of the Odyssey. So, for those familiar
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: with the show, this needs no introduction, but if you're
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: just joining us here on Hunting with Roe, Over the years,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: we have had a weekly segment called Primary Complaint, where
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: we get pissed off for greatness. And what this is,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: you are allowed, you are given the floor, you can
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: air your top grievance of the week. So myself, Chad, JT,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: we will give ours each and every week. We try
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: not to repeat the same complaint twice. That's our rule.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: But we don't complain about others' complaints. You have the
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: floor to air your top grievance of the week in
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Primary Complaint. And guys, my primary complaint this week, So, Chad,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: you and I are calling some football games, right? Mm-hmm.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Sometimes it's difficult to find the rosters of these teams.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: And there is a TSSAA website, TSSAA Sports, where you
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: can go. And on the website, you have every team
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: listed that participated in high school football. Well, you would
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: think that when you click on roster that every team
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: every program would turn in the same information. That's not
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: the case. In fact, some of these just have names listed,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: last name, comma, first name, as if it's a tryout list.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: That does me no good. I need the number, the name, classification,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: and give me the height and weight if you have that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: If not, at least give me the number and the
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: corresponding name that goes with the number. That should be
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: on a mandatory list of every program. that plays high
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: school football across this great state of Tennessee. That's my
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: primary complaint.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: In the bare minimum, Hutton, of what we would need,
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: what anyone would need for any possible job.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: Of calling a game, watching a game, anything.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Two things, right?
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: A number and a corresponding name. To that number are
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: the two things.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: If you omit one or the other, if it's just
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: a list of numbers, one through 99, or a list
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: of names with no number, that helps absolutely no one.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: And if I'm going to the site, the authority, the
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: authority that keeps the record here of all the high
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: school programs across the state, and even that site doesn't
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: have the number corresponding to the last name, what are
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: we doing here? That should be a mandatory, yes, in
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: order to participate, you turn in a roster. Yes, they
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: have to have a jersey. Tell me the number that
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: goes with the last name, please.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: So I'm the official scorekeeper for my daughter's, my seven-year-old
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: daughter's softball games now. So I keep the book during
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: the game. So I have to go over to the
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: other coach before the game and get their roster, you know,
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: the little kids in their batting lap so I can.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Put it in the book.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: I'm going to give some grace because it's the first
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: game of the year and they just handed out jerseys
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: that night.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: Like New Jersey's.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: But I walk over and I go, okay, yeah, here.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: I thought, man, this guy's prepared, ready. Oh, yeah, here's
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: our roster. It gives me the little paper roster sheet.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: And I'm going over to start to put them down.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: I look down on the roster. Hutton, it's just a
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: list of names, 1 through 12.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: Names, no numbers. With no numbers.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I go back.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, I'm going to need some numbers. So
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: I had an assistant coach stand with me, and he's like, Evelyn,
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: turn around.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Evelyn, what's your number? And I'm like, he were having
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: to get– because they just put them on. So I
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: get it.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: And they're like, what number are you? The little girl's like, huh?
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Number?
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm seven years old. You know, they're
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: just giving their age back and like, turn around.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: And then, you know, what's your, what's your numbers? They're
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: shouting their social security number back at us. One little
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: girl gave me her credit score, which was weird that
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: she already had one, but no one had a number.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: It's 700.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: It's infuriating.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: By the way, we will be at green Hill at
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: page in the mid state on Friday night. So looking
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: forward to that big game coming up Friday night. My
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: primary complaint this week, and by the way, we're getting
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: some good ones coming in on YouTube. So keep hitting
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: us up there. It's an ESPN related primary complaint.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: All right. Now we worked for Fox at one point. Okay.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: And anytime we went on a Fox station could be,
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: you know, Fox news, Fox weather, whatever it may be.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: I give them a lot of credit because they had
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: standards for like your presentation and your setup, like where
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: were you? You know, an example, one time I was
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: coaching a softball tournament and I'm like, hey, I could
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: do it, but I'd have to leave the, and I
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: was willing to do it, but I'll have to leave
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: a game, go into my truck and do it on
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: my phone. They're like, no, we'll find someone else. I said,
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: call my buddy, Jonathan Hutton. So then Jonathan Hutton could
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: do it from his home studio and it looks a
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: million times better doing that.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Totally understand that type of decision, right? For a company. Sure.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I've got ESPN on to the right of me every day.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: On this nice television in my home studio, the amount
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: of people that go on major ESPN shows and they
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: take no care into how they appear or where they
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: are when they do it, you've got a million different
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: contributors at ESPN. Go to the next person who's either
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: at home or in an office or can get somewhere
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: with a good signal and a good quality sound and
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: everything else. It's like they're now taking a lot of
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: joy and having the weirdest. Monica McNutt did one while
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: getting her nails done the other day. She's on SportsCenter
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: doing that. I'm watching Pete Thamel yesterday, sweaty, hat turned around.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: He's up against a.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Brick wall, clearly just gone for a workout. He's got
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: his earpiece in. He's holding up his cell phone on
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: Pat McAfee's show. I mean, look, I'm not some hoity-toity,
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: be a professional at all times. Like, you should be loose.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: You should feel free. It should be fun.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: This is sports. All of those things.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: But my God, have a little respect. for your medium. Like,
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: you're on television. You're on ESPN. It's a pretty big deal. Like,
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: I don't think that it's funny that let's just, let's go, hey,
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: you know, we really need to get Monica McNutt's thoughts
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: on this WNBA trade. So I don't care if she's
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: getting her nails done right now. Let's go live to her.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: Go to the next person. Whoever the next person, give
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: someone else an opportunity to go on there that's at
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: their home studio or that's in a better spot to
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: do a hit.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: That's my primary complaint. Yeah, well said, Chad. I agree
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: with you.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: JT.
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: Guys, I would love to hear a real good excuse
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: for this one, but I don't think there is one.
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: I live in Rutherford County in Murfreesboro.
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: As I look outside my window, the sun is shining,
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: and it's a really straight road, about a mile, real
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: close to Segal High School. And my part of this
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: neighborhood actually has an HOA. If you're going down towards Segal,
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: there's not one. But guess what there is on both
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: sides of the road? A nice walkway. A nice spot
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: that you can take a walk or maybe a jog.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: Both sides of the road have got a sidewalk. However,
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: every single day, there appears to be men and women
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: who decide to run or walk in the road.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: Both sides of the road have a sidewalk.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: You can go north or south, but instead you go
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: north or south in the middle of my damn road.
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: Please explain to me why that concrete is better than
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: my sidewalk.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: That's my primary complaint.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, why is that? Why do we think people do this?
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: You live around a bunch of weirdos, JT. I've never
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: seen people even do this. We've got sidewalks in our
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: neighborhood and people are always on the sidewalk walking or running,
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: never in the road.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: That's crazy talk.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: I've started taking videos. I can send you guys videos.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: What do you say in the road? Is this like
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: the neighborhood road or is this the road, like the
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: main road?
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: No, no.
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: This is a main road.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: If you pull out of my house, you will be
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: at single high school in about 30 seconds.
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: So a lot of traffic.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Wow. That's nuts. These people should be arrested, JT.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: But I promise.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: You, I'm not alone.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: We'll see some stuff in the chat. There's a lot
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: of people that run or walk when there are sidewalks
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: in the road. JT is the Batman of the Seagull
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: area right now. He's going to start citizens arresting people
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: left and right, which he should.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: It's got to be more than just like there's more
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: room for me to run. I don't get that. If
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: I'm riding a bike, it's different than running in the
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: middle of the road.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: Yeah, this is running and walking. I shouldn't say in
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: the middle of the road. They're on the side of
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: the road.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: They're on the side of the road, but you have
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: to physically go around them.
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: But they're in the road.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes no sense. Chad's right.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: You live around some weird people.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: CJ on the YouTube chat says, Murfreesboro people are built different.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: I concur with JT. These folks are stupid. Talking about
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: the people running in his neighborhood. So JT getting someone
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: backing him up there. David says, my primary complaint are
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: people who claim people not born in your state. So
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: that was a shot at the initial Mount Rushmore.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: So, all right.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Touche, David. Touche.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Has everyone, well, no, he's mad at Elvis.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: He agreed that Elvis shouldn't be on because Elvis is
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: from Tupelo, Mississippi, originally. So I think he's mad that
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: I changed it over. But now Andrew Jackson's not born
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: in Tennessee. He was born in what is now South Carolina.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: I think it was all North Carolina. Oh, is that right?
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: I didn't know that. Or the Carolinas or whatever it was.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: He's got to go.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: But he moved over, so we claim him. We claim
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: him here.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I didn't know that, let's see, that Davy Crockett didn't
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: want to claim Tennessee at the end of his life.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: I learned that today.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Yeah, people are mad about that.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: But, hey, guess what?
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: For the people mad about that, we changed it for you.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: We gave you a different one. We're like the world
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: right now. We're just going to continue spinning different truths
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: and until we get the one that everybody likes. I'm
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: going to give you the Mount Rushmore that you like.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: It's all tailored to whatever you want. So if you
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: have a problem with the first one, we can just
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: keep changing it. Tomorrow we'll do a different Mount Rushmore,
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: and we'll hit all the people that are pitching to
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: us about whatever we put on this one, and then
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: we'll continue to change it over and over. That's the
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: world we live in now. Something for everyone. We've got
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: headlines straight ahead here on Hunting with Roe. Hunting with Roe,
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: we are presented by Hard Rock Bets. Chad, Clay Travis
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: founded Sport and State. Jennifer Say founded XXXY Athletics, former
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: national champion gymnast. She's a former Levi's brand president. She
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: walked away from a corporate job rather than say something
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: she didn't believe and started XXXY Athletics instead. And the mission,
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: in their words, empower female athletes, take a stand for
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: fair competition. They call it the T that launched a movement.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: And The movement right now, the Nashville Balls, this is
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: the WNBA's expansion franchise of Clay Travis. If he gets
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: his way, this is the official place to go and
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: get the official merch for Nashville Balls gear. Enos Freedom
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Cantor should have wore the Nashville Balls shirt to that
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Chicago game. Maybe he wouldn't be banned if he had
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: worn that just because he was supporting a fellow WNBA franchise.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: You can get the official.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: Apparel of the Nashville Balls at XXXYT's trucker hats. If
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: you want the shirt, that's where you get it. New
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: customers get 20% off your first order when you sign
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: up and free shipping over $ 100. XXXYAthletics.com That's XX-XY Athletics.com.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: I don't know why I just thought about this, but
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: funniest show, one of the funniest ones I've seen in
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: a while, Tires on Netflix. I think it's just Shane Gillis'
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: brand of comedy and what we're talking about with the
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: Nashville Balls made me think about it. But that is
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: the best example of a show I can think of
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: that started out funny, but very niche for those that
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: watched it.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: It was only six episodes.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: It was clearly done by just a group of buddies
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: that that basically put together a bunch of short sketches
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: at a tire shop that they worked at and then
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: put a show together. And by season two, they hire
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: Thomas Hayden Church to be Shane Gillis' dad, who was
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Lowell on Wings back in the day, famous actor, who's
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: terrific on it. And they start to fill out the cast.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: And by this latest season three, it's one of my
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: favorite workplace.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: It's The Office all over again, just in a different tone.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: It is awesome.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Like it is an amazing workplace.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Think of Parks and Rec, The Office, just in Shane
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: Gillis and his buddy's tone. And they clearly get to
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: do whatever they want. It's total freedom that Netflix has
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: given them. And it is hilarious. There's the third episode
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: of season three. And if you just want to watch
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: just a funny, you don't have to know anything about
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: the show, but it's the nerdy guy who owns the
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: tire shop goes to the women in business dinner and
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: because he claims that there's a female co-owner that's one
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: of his employees that he brings to it. And what
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: all happens at the women's dinner is remarkable. Tires on
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: Netflix is great.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: We're going to get to another show that we're going
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: to watch in a moment. This makes me want to
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: just continue to binge the show. I've only seen two
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: episodes of Tires. It's hilarious. It is hilarious.
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: You can watch it in an afternoon. They're like 21-minute long.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and I was going to say, the 30-minute show,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: it's perfect. And I was also going to add in,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: because it ties in perfectly here with a shout out
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: to Coach Mack, Dave McGinnis, because whenever I hear of tires,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I think of you. I remember coming downstairs in Florida,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: coming down the steps, and you and Coach Mack are
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: watching tires while we have one of our buddies on
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: a screen with the Pentagon. Good old Milt.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Good old Milt was doing his government work at the time.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: But you were binging the entire first season, I think. I, too,
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: think of Coach Mack every time I think about that show.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: I mean, because I watched the first season with him
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: in that condo, and it was hilarious.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: His reaction to a few of those things, like, look
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: at this guy. Look at this guy. Look at this guy.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: He is just cracking up watching that show. I hope
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: Tires goes on forever because I want to keep watching
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: and thinking about our good buddy Coach Matt.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Yeah, man. Every time I see the show. It's good
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: to know that it's now expanded to where it's like
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: today's version of The Office, which is awesome. It is great.
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: I listen to a podcast that is very entertainment-centric, and
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: I love the guys in the podcast. They're also incredibly liberal,
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: living in L.A. The one guy on the show won't
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: watch Taylor Sheridan shows. Or just he makes fun of
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: them because he thinks that Taylor Sheridan is a big
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: Trump guy. So he won't watch. That's like how political
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: they are. Now, they're very good about talking about shows.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: And they talk about shows that I watch. So I
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: listen because they're very good at it. But even these
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: guys who hated Shane Gillis, who he even admits like
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: I wouldn't give the show a chance because of where
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: I'm aligned politically. And I felt like Gillis was on
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: the other side. So I wouldn't do it. And he said,
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: I just finished the third season. It's one of the
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: best comedies. It's probably the best comedy right now. And
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: he said they are so in their groove and their
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: sweet spot of creating things and.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: The jokes are so good.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: And the dude who would never be given a shot
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: to be on a show ever if he wasn't a
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: comedy writer with Shane Gillis and the guy who's the
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: lead of the show with Gillis is so good in
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: his part. It's like a Michael Scott type guy but
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: yet he's not it's I it's hard to explain Hutton
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: I'm telling you tires on Netflix it makes sense yeah
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: I am recommending that I don't give recommend recommendations out
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: lightly I'm giving a hard recommendation If you are a
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: fan of comedy, watch Tire. Start from the beginning, but
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: know that you're going to laugh in the first season.
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: It's only six episodes. By season two, it's really good,
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: 12 episodes. By season three, it is great, and by
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: the final episode, you're trying to go to next episode
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: to continue watching, and you know that it's not out yet,
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: but they are churning these things out quick.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: They'll be back every year with 12 new episodes.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: Okay, yeah.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: It's really, really well done.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Tires on Netflix. We have Tires. So I think you
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: should leave. We highly recommend that one. What are some
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: other ones that would define our binge worthiness? The Chair Company.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: The Chair Company. Thank you.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: Is a great one in terms of comedy right now.
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not thinking of a lot of great comedy.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: The Chair Company is coming back, right? It is coming back.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: It's back.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Good. Oh, it's back? It's back.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Already?
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: It's not back.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: It's coming back. I'm saying they're going to make.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: It another season.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Gotcha. Okay. Yeah. It's back.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: You see that guy over there? You go let him
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: know I'm back. You let them know I'm back. I
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: got a depth chart also. We're going to do one
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: a week. I will have a column that I'll post
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: at Sport and State today that can serve, if we want,
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: tomorrow as our deep discussion on a depth chart. It's
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: a five. It's a five-person list. I don't want to
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: completely spoil it. It is movie related. And I think
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: like our Mount Rushmore discussion is going to get us
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: talking and it's going to get people very angry with us.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Do you want to promote the premise of it for
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: your column later without giving away the names?
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: So what I did, I.
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: Mean, I can talk about it because it's going to
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: post at some point. It may already be posted, but
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: some point this morning.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Oh, look.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: We love Tom Cruise on this show. We are unabashed
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: Tom Cruise fans. The dude's a complete maniac and weirdo,
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: but I love him to death. He is 100% into
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: everything he does. He loves it. He's passionate about movies.
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: He's passionate about entertaining people. We love Tom Cruise for
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: that reason. Who's the next Tom Cruise? Because if you
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: look at his contemporaries, those guys, and they're younger, but
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: those guys are getting older. Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Denzel Washington,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: Brad Pitt, they're all over 50. Pitt's over 60. And
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Denzel's 71 years old. So he's older than Tom Cruise even.
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: So who is the under 40 American actor? Not a Brit,
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: not Tom Holland, not Cillian Murphy, some great British and
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: international actors, not an Australian, American-born actors that could replace
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: Tom Cruise. I've got a top five.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: Oh, that's good. And I give reasons for each.
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: I even compare a couple to current NFL quarterbacks.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: And how I see their career trajectory going.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: So we'll get into that and we'll, uh, we'll go
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: through the rate, the rankings tomorrow and we'll get some
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: submissions from our audience as well, where you can chime
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: in on YouTube at all, at all times with the chat.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: And again, we're back on podcast.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. Uh, Chad, the Vince Young, we're going to
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: discuss Vince Young's documentary. Tell me, tell me what you've
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: seen and what I need to watch.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Um, It's really good. I think, Hutton, for.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: The casual fan that wasn't attached to the Titans organization
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: during that time, it's going to be revealing in a
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: lot of ways. I think for people like us, especially
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: you that were around it at the time, there's not
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: a lot of big surprises. But you can feel the
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: surprise from the audience that's seeing some things for the
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: first time that Jeff Fisher is talking about. An example,
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: Jeff Fisher says when he missed the plane– He says,
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: Vince Young was mad and angry and comes up to
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: me and he says, you see this plane? There's not
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: an effing Longhorn painted on it. You're in the NFL now.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: Plane leaves this time. So if you're not here, we're
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: leaving without you.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: And that's it.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: And he, I mean, Fisher says it very plainly in that.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: And Fisher, they talk about the letter that Vince Young
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: wrote him. And I know Jeff Fisher's talked about this
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: with us too, but the director of the documentary says,
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: why didn't you write him back? And he says, well,
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: First off, my name is misspelled in the letter, is
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: what Fisher says. And he said, in hindsight, should I have...
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: And this is a variant of the documentary. How do
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: you misspell his name? Instead of J-E-F-F, it's G-E-O-F-F? Maybe
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: he spelled Fisher wrong. Maybe he spelled coach wrong. I'll
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: also point out that Matt Brown says that....
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: I try not to make light of illiteracy on this show.
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: But Mack Brown says that Vince Young had a 3.5
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: GPA in high school.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: No, Mack Brown's a liar. Well, he puts it on
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: the screen, 3.5 GPA. He said, you know, he was
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: a great kid. He was smart, this and that.
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: I'm like, 3.5?
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: Chad, I'll tell the story. Misspelled Jeff Fisher? Also a
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: 3.5 GPA?
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: I recorded, and this is, once I watch this, I'll
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: have more stories like this. But I recorded a Subway
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: ad with Vince Young and his buddy Mike Moo. All right?
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: It was just the three of us. Mike Moo's all
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: over the documentary, by the way. I'm sure he is,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: pushing strollers. But yeah, Mike Moo, who's like a personal
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: assistant for Vince Young. For Titans Radio, I had to
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: go record a Subway ad for Vince. It was just
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: audio only. Dude could not read. And I'm not doing
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: that to make fun of the guy. When Chad says illiterate,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: it's sad. So when I hear a coach say he
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: has a 3.5 GPA, I'm calling BS. Because the Subway
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: ad didn't get used because the guy couldn't read a sentence.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: And that's the truth. That's the sad reality of it.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: Well, I mean, he couldn't spell Jeff Fisher. How would
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: you spell Jeff Fisher?
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: I don't know how you mess it up.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: G-E-O-F-F?
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: And I would have liked for Jeff Fisher to respond
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: to the letter that he took time to write, and
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: it was heartfelt and it was an apology, is what
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: Vince Young says. And Fisher says, yeah, I got it.
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: And he says, you know, I probably should have responded
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: and given him some crap about misspelling my name, but
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: he kind of leaves it at that. But, I mean, look,
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: it's also very easy to see why Jeff Fisher doesn't
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: like Vince Young.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: I don't think– the documentary doesn't hide that. Now, it's
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: told from Vince Young. It's called The Testimony of Vince
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Young is the name of it. So it's told from
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: Vince Young's perspective. And it gives a lot of the
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: things like his wife even and sisters are on it.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: They're like, oh, boy, you know, at Texas they were
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: a family and, you know, they were looking out for
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: each other and this. And then the NFL, it was
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: really cutthroat with Fisher leaking info and saying this and that.
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: And I'm thinking, well, this could all be prevented if
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: you were a pro. If you were doing the right things,
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: none of this happens. And what it told me, Hutton,
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: was Mack Brown really, really protected Vince Young while he.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Was in Texas. Oh, and protected everyone else, too.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: He cradled him big time.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: The other thing.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't wait to watch this.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: And the other thing, too, that comes to mind is
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: this is also the era where Jeff Fisher and Floyd
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Reese had a rift. Yeah.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: You know, so like.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: they were battling to see who was going to keep
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: their job and who was going to have the power
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: moving forward with ownership and Bud Adams with the Tennessee Titans.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: So this is around that same era.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and he even says, I mean, he goes in detail.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: I advise people to watch, but Jeff Fisher goes in
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: detail why they drafted Vince Young, because Bud Adams wanted
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: to stick it to the.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: Mayor of Houston.
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: B-Y is my guy, yeah.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: Well, and he also said the mayor of Houston was
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: a woman, and she said– if we don't get Vince
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: Young with the Houston Texans, I'm going to jump off
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: a bridge. And Jeff Fisher said, this is all in
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: the documentary, by the way, which blew my mind. Jeff
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: Fisher said, Bud Adams came to us and said, you're
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: going to draft Vince Young because I want to watch
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: the bitch jump.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: Direct quote.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: That's a direct quote from Jeff Fisher about Bud Adams.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Okay, Chad, and now we circle back. If you're wondering
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: why the Titans went back to Columbia Blue, Now you know.
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: Because the hatred between the Adams family and Houston runs deep.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: This is not Titans blue. This is Oilers blue. This
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: is not the rivalry between the Oilers and the Titans fans. No,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: it's the rivalry between Houston and the Titans ownership. That's
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: exactly what it is.
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: Our argument continues to be Titans fans don't care here
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: in the state of Tennessee about Houston. They don't see
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: Houston as big of a rival the way the Adams
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: family does. It would be like Kyle Whittingham. who's now
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: the coach at Michigan, trying to convince Michigan fans why
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: BYU is so bad.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: Like, I'm going to stick it to those Mormons at
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: BYU any chance I get.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: And I need Michigan fans to get.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: Behind me as we wear these uniforms to commemorate how
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: much we don't like BYU.
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: That's the equivalent of it. Like, no, nobody cares where
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: you are now.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Trying to tell Michigan fans why they don't need to
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: play on Sunday is basically what he means. You know?
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: That's what it is. Good example.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Him wanting the mayor of Houston to jump off a
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: bridge as the reason for Vince Young being drafted was
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: something I had not heard before.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: I never heard it confirmed to that level. I had heard,
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: I didn't know it was jumping off a bridge. I
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: knew it was like to throw shade at the Houston mayor.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: But see, then the Texans went ahead and drafted, they
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: had the number one pick, they drafted Mario Williams.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: I'll tell you, Hutton, too, and this doesn't surprise you
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: at all, but Lindell White is in it and hilarious.
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: I love Lindell. It's Bo Scaife and Lindell White together.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: I love both of them.
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: They're in one of their homes, you can tell, and
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: a nice home in the background, and they're both talking together.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: But when they talk about Vint VY throwing the.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Pads, that's when he's hurt, you know, and they lose
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: the game, and his thumb is he's not throwing. And
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: Jeff Fisher's like, I watch him throw two passes. He
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: throws it at the feet of the receiver, and then
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: he throws it five yards over his head. And I'm like,
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: you can't control the football. We're going to go with
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: someone else.
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: And then V.Y.
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: Is like, I see that as my coach doesn't believe
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: in me. So he flies off the handle, throws his pads,
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: and then he's like, I'm done with this. And he's
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: packing his stuff up loud and doing this. And Jeff
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: Fisher's saying, don't do this. Don't walk out on your team.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: And Lindell and Bo Skafer are like, I like how Fish–
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: flipped it to don't walk out on your team.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: And he's like, no, MF-er. He's walking out on you.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: We know he's not walking out on us. Like, this
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: is clearly a beef between you two, and he's doing that.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: But Fisher was saying, like, you can't do this to
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: your team. Don't walk out on your teammates. But Lindell
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: with that sly little grin is like, no, he ain't
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: walking out on us.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: He's walking out on you. We're all pretty clear on
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: the situation here. He's walking out on your ass. Chad,
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: when we come back, I've got a tie-in of the
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: personalities that you're describing and how we will not hear
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: of the same type of personalities in today's NFL because
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: they have shuttered the media from coverage. You don't get
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: to know these guys anymore. Let's try to head here
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: on Hunting With Row. It's Hutton and Withrow here at sportandstate.com.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: Also on YouTube, you can follow us there. We hope
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: you'll subscribe to the channel at Hutton and Withrow. We
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: are presented by Hard Rock Bet. Chad, you know, the
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: personality of Lindell White and Bo Skay, if you're mentioning
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: Vince Young, Chris Johnson's in that locker room. We can
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: continue to go through some of these, right? You're not
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: going to find that in today's NFL anymore. Because nowadays...
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: You're not really allowed in the locker room. In that era,
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: I say that era, it was not that long ago.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: Rewind 10 years ago and you can find this. During
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: training camp, locker rooms open. You can go and talk
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: to the third string linebacker if you wanted to and
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: get to know someone and do a profile piece. Now,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: you can barely watch practice. It's all Deion Sanders media
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: protocol now. The only time that you get availability with
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: players is if they're behind a podium. The only time
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: you get availability with a coach is if he's behind
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: a podium. Back in 2005 interning, Chad, every reporter had
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: Jeff Fisher's phone number, had Floyd Reese's phone number. And
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: if you needed to go on the record, you called
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: up the coach. You didn't call media relations. You called
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: up the coach and said, hey, I need a quote
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: for this. And you went on the record with whatever
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: report you're going with. Now, these pussies don't do anything.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: They stand behind a podium and they don't speak to
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: the media. You can't get to know anybody. So it's
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: not the same reverence that I have for certain players
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: now that I did then. Because these guys, they don't
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: want to talk. They're coddled.
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: I mean, the thing about the fight between Vince Young
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: and Donnie Nicky that you and I witnessed from the
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: sideline that day, we couldn't even report it. No. You know,
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: I don't think we had. We didn't have Twitter then
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: or Twitter accounts.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: It was just coming out. I still have my Blackberry.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: I remember having my Blackberry with the track wheel.
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: But if we would have gone on and reported it
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: on social media somewhere, we probably got yelled at by
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: Titans Media Relations, and then it was immediately out, you know,
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: then at that time because you could see it and
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: witness it, and social media wasn't a thing, but It
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: was still something where you could see the personality. Now
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: if you're going to see the personality of a player
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: or coach, you've got to watch Hard Knocks or you've
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: got to watch some NFL-sanctioned quarterback show on Netflix. Then
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, now I feel like I can see
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: the guys at least interacting with their teammates or how
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: they are. I got to know Cam Ward a lot
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: better watching the quarterback series. Had I gone to Titans practices,
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: I didn't. or games and covered him, I wouldn't have
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: known anything about Cam Ward.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: No, you wouldn't. Personality-wise, you get way more out of
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: watching those shows.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: And you know what, though? With those shows, with hard knocks,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: with quarterback, those organizations, those leagues, those teams, they have
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: right of first refusal. So you're getting an edited version
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: of anything that the quarterback wants you to see, or
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: the team wants you to see, or the league wants
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: you to see. They have the final edit ability on
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: those shows. Then you didn't.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: And guess what?
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: Everybody turned out okay. In fact, it built the league
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: into what it is. You don't know any individuals anymore
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: in the National Football League. It's all brand. It's all team.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: It's all front-facing, but you don't get to know anything
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: behind the scenes. And that's sad. It's a lot like
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: the NBA to me. It's a lot like Major League
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: Baseball to me. The NFL used to have an open
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: door policy with the locker room. And guess what? The
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: locker room policed itself. Media members, if a player had
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: a beef with you, you showed your face in the
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: locker room and things were hashed out. Nowadays, it's just
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: in front of a podium, behind a podium. That's all
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: it is. That's the only way you get to know
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: As a fan, that's the only way you get to
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: know a player. If you feel like you don't know,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: I don't feel like I know Cam Ward like I
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: did Vince Young. No. And I'm not even talking about
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: behind the scenes, like with you and I having access
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: that no one else would have. I'm not talking about
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: behind the scenes backstage access. I'm talking just in general.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: I know nothing about this dude. but yet he's the
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: quarterback of the franchise. And you can go Fernando Mendoza.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: How much more do we know about Fernando Mendoza since
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: he's been drafted in the National Football League? Zero. Zero.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: Because they put everything behind closed doors, and they don't
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: want the cameras back there unless it's NFL media, and
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: it's all to benefit the league instead of benefit the fans.
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: It sucks for those local embedded media members that their
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: job is to cover a team daily because they get
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: no access, right? So you're just doing like I could do,
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: and I have respect for people that are there every
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: day and do that for a living and all that, right?
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: But like I can cover the team with opinion or
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: a team with opinion the same way most can because
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: they're not granted really any more access than I would
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: get from reading a practice report or seeing something else.
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: That's unfortunate for them. I say that complaining on their
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: behalf that they don't get that. Denzel Washington says he's
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: not present on social media.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: He actually told Michael B. Jordan this.
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: This could be a hint about what's in my column
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: coming up too. Don't put yourself out there. Don't give
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: the people anything because then they won't pay to go
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: see you in the movies if you give them too much.
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: Denzel doesn't do a ton of interviews. He's not on
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: social media doing TikTok videos or anything. He's like, my
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: job is to get people to want to see me
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: on a big screen because I'm a movie star. So
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: they got to go pay to see me. So I'm
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: not going to give that away for free. I can
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: understand some of that mantra with the NFL. We are
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: too big to fail. We are going to be so
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: big that we're not going to allow local media access
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: because we want to be.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: A little bit mysterious.
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: But, Hutton, I don't think you can play that game
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: and also do Project Runway as a team on social media, right,
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: when they're getting off the plane and showing everyone and
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: what they're wearing. The only way that it's going to
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: change is if the popularity of the NFL goes down.
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: Or TV ratings go down or they stop making a
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: ton of money. But that's not going to happen anytime soon.
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: So they're going to continue cutting off media and having
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: policies like this because it doesn't really affect them.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: That's the sad truth is it's not going to affect
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: their bottom line. It is a great point you bring
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: up about being able to cover a team with opinion now.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: Because I've never thought about it this way, but you're
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: spot on. You have the same access that a beat
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: writer does that's there every day.
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Because you can watch the press conferences on YouTube every day.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: And I can watch the games on TV. And I
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: can see a better angle than you can. And we
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: can come back and talk about the games.
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: And you don't need to watch the practice because you're
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: not allowed to report on it anyway. You have to
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: ask the coach about practice. And if the coach then
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: deems it okay for you, if he acknowledges what happened
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: in practice or an injury, if a coach then acknowledges
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: a question about practice, then you can report on it.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: But if the coach just said, I don't know what
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: you're talking about, then there's nothing to report on. To
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: Chad's point, it's no different than someone could host a
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: podcast in Ohio and act like they're covering the Tennessee
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Titans in Nashville.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: That's a great point. And we do a morning show now.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: So when we're going on air, we just have time
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: to wake up at 5.30, 5.45, read a little bit,
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: go on air. We're not seeing a million opinions online.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: when we come into our show.
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: When we were doing afternoon shows, I'm going to get
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: to the point how this ties in the NFL too,
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: I promise. But when we're doing an afternoon show, when
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: we come into that show, Hudden, we have been fed
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: a thousand opinions already based on our Twitter feed, based
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: on videos we're seeing on Instagram, based on what people
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: are saying and who's reacting to what. There is a
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: benefit of doing a morning show in that we are
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: fresh and We're talking about last night's news, the latest news,
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: immediately before anyone else can get to it. Clay Travis
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: has talked about that ability, too, when he hosted a
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: Sports Talk morning show for years. He enjoyed that aspect
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: of it, right? You get fresh eyes on something when
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: you do that. I could make the argument that we
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: are actually at a benefit over those who are there
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: daily and they are beholden to a team for any
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: access at all. And here's why. Our opinion is not
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: curtailed in any way. And that's for any team in
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: the NFL that we watch, right? We're not around the
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: players daily. We're not around the coaches daily. Now, someone
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: may come in and say, well, that makes you a
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: coward that you won't go face them.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: For what? Also, would you rather have.
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: A God's honest opinion and someone who's going to articulate
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: it well without fear of anything? Or would you rather
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: have someone who's there daily who's feeding you a line
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: of bullshit about a player or a coach because they
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: are subconsciously afraid of the coach? Or because they know
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: they have to see them later. Or they're posting ticket
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: sales information on behalf of the team in order to
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: curry favor with the team. I mean, they basically become
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: an extension of that NFL franchise when that happens. And
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: I don't think that's good for opinion people either.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: Dude, it's such a great point. Because those that are
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: doing it, that are posting ticket sales and brick sales
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: and all these other things, they're doing it so they
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: can keep their access. Exactly. So they keep their small
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: window of access.
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: And when you never have access like us, we're good.
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: We can talk about it all we want.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: I guess because I've had the access. I miss the
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: access that we used to have. I don't miss this.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: I don't feel like I've missed out on a lot
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: of stuff by doing a show in the mornings instead
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: of being at practice in the mornings. I haven't missed
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: out on a lot of stuff. Now, context, yes. Context
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: about the team and speaking about the team, sure. But Chad,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: getting to know people, actually building relationships, having a one-on-one
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: rapport with someone or some player, no, that's gone by
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: the wayside. Every player we've mentioned today, I can tell
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: you about a one-on-one example I've had with them. I
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: can't do that now with this day and age. And
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: that's blatant. That is because of the team. That is
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: because of the league. That's because of policy. They don't
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: want us to do that because they want to control
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: literally everything. Very well said, Hutton. Chad, fun show today.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: We are back at it tomorrow. In the meantime, check
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: out Next Round Live. LT, Ryan Brown, Jim Dunaway, they're
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: ready to take you to the next phase of sport
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: and state right now.
